Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1101

“When did you become this talkative and gossipy?”

Lin Xuzheng also realized that he had spoken too much, so he waved his hands slightly. “Alright. I’m just concerned for my good friend. Since you refuse to talk about it, then forget it.”

Later on, Lin Xuzheng left by himself while Han Qing stood stationary alone for a while before leaving.

When Yan left the police station, she walked along the road all alone. She came here with the police car, so the car she used for deliveries was still at the clubhouse. According to what she told Luo Huimei on the phone, she probably needed to go back to retrieve it. Why don’t I call a cab to the clubhouse and bring the car back home? Then, I can take two sets of my clothes from there and stay in my apartment for two days.

In her current state, she would definitely draw suspicions from her parents if she went back, and she would need to explain everything to them. After she thought about it, she still chose not to let them worry about her.

As she walked, she could still feel the pain in her leg. She only realized it when she ran out of the police station. I must have hit the corner of the table when they forcefully dragged me inside.

At that time, Yan felt so much pain that tears were almost rolling down her eyes. The faint pain kept on coming to her when she walked.

She slowed down her steps and took out her phone to call a cab. Then, a honking sound that came from behind causing her to hide aside instinctively. However, she stumbled a bit and almost fell down.

After she stabilized her body, her phone accidentally fell from her hand and hit the ground with a thud.

Yan immediately leaned over her body while bearing the pain. Seeing the cracked screen on her phone, she was instantly frustrated. Why don’t I walk slower if I’m in pain?

Then, a pair of familiar shoes appeared in front of her. She was in shock at first, but she reacted right after. I’ve seen these shoes just now at the police station. They belong to Han Qing.

She lifted her head and saw a tall figure standing in front of her with the light behind him. The lines of his frame became more profound and mesmerizing under his shadow, but sadly, she couldn’t see his expression. Therefore, she didn’t know the look he was giving her in the situation, but she could still guess it. He is probably pitying me.

She remained motionless as she squatted down. After that, she lowered her head again to look at the cracked screen on her phone before she used her hand to wipe it clean.

However, someone else acted faster than her; before she could even touch the screen, Han Qing grabbed hold of her hand. “The screen is cracked. You can easily cut your hand if you wipe it like that.”

With that, he abruptly took over the phone before taking a clean handkerchief out of his pocket to help her wipe it.

Yan wasn’t far from him, so she could faintly smell the vague scent of herbage on his handkerchief. The material and logo of the handkerchief indicated that it belonged to a well-known brand.

As soon as she remembered that she got the ramen restaurant because of him, she immediately felt angry and annoyed, so she couldn’t help but mock, “That handkerchief must be expensive, right? After wiping my phone, how many deliveries should I make to repay you?”

She said these words on purpose to agitate him.

Han Qing’s movement also stopped because of her words, but soon after, he wiped her phone clean before putting it in his pocket.

Yan was confused with his action. “What are you doing? Give my phone back to me.”

“Get up.” Han Qing’s voice was cold. “I’ll bring you to a hospital.”

“I don’t want to go there.” She shook her head stubbornly. “I’ve said that I’m fine. I don’t need to go to the hospital.”

“You can’t even walk properly, and you say that you’re fine?” Han Qing’s eyes fell on her face as they were filled with a trace of sharpness. Even though his voice seemed calm, his face was obviously starting to darken.

However, what use could it do? There was nothing but anger in Yan’s heart, and she couldn’t care less about his feelings. Besides, she knew that he would never care no matter what happened to her, so what was the point?

“Who says that I can’t walk properly? I was only careless just now. Besides, shouldn’t a busy man like you head back to your company immediately? Don’t waste your time with a pitiful person like me. What I do has nothing to do with you. You—ah—”

Before she could finish her speech, Han Qing couldn’t bear to listen to her anymore. Suddenly, he grabbed hold of her shoulder with one hand while the other grabbed hold of her legs. Then, he held her up in his arms.

Han Qing was a tall man, and Yan was skinny, so when he held her, she looked tiny in comparison. She didn’t expect this reaction from him, but her body was already giving out an honest response. She probably was afraid of falling down; therefore, when he stood up, both her hands instinctively wrapped themselves around his neck while she screamed.

When she came back around, Han Qing was already standing firm. He frowned as he stared at her before walking toward the direction of his car.

This was the first time she was carried by him like this. She was still in daze when she blankly allowed him to carry her into his car. As Han Qing was helping her to fasten the seatbelt, his breath was very close to her. With his dashing face a few inches in front of her, she could easily give him a kiss if she wanted to, but it was something she would only do back then. Now…

Therefore, she quietly turned her face away and tried her best not to look straight at his face. She was blinking her eyes nervously while her heartbeat accelerated.

When Han Qing was done fastening her seatbelt, he didn’t back off, and it caused Yan to be even more restless. What is he trying to do? Why isn’t he going away yet?

A while later, she quietly turned her head back, and her eyes perfectly connected with his slightly cold eyes. “You…”

“You can let go of your hands now. I will carry you later when we reach the hospital.”

Listening to him, she finally realized something as she slowly widened her eyes. Then, she saw her hands still clinging on to his neck. No wonder he hasn’t left after fastening my seatbelt.

She shyly retracted her hands in a hurry while her face started burning. She was so annoyed with herself that she bit her lower lip hard.

Soon later, Han Qing entered the car, but she didn’t dare to look at him, so she turned her face toward the window.

Just like that, they remained silent throughout the journey to the hospital. She probably was still immersed in her own world because when the car stopped, she didn’t realize it at all. After the car door was opened and her seatbelt was unfastened did she finally come back to her senses.

Almost reflexively, she pressed down Han Qing’s hands. “I can do it myself!”

She was nervous and was in a hurry to claim that she could do it herself, so she accidentally touched his palm. The moment their skin touched, she could feel a numb sensation in her heart. Immediately, she retracted her hand in shock and stuttered, “I-I’m sorry…”

Han Qing glanced coldly at his hand that was touched by the damsel. Then, he appeared unflustered while he unfastened the seatbelt before carrying the damsel again out of the car.

“I-I really can do it myself…” Yan stuttered as she explained to him. This time, she didn’t dare to wrap her hands around his neck, and she couldn’t break free from him. Therefore, she looked like a tired lobster trapped in his arms while her face and neck were burning from embarrassment.

There were lots of people walking around the hospital. Naturally, Han Qing’s tall and dashing stature drew the eyes of many people. When the eyes of others landed on them, Yan felt even ashamed, and she could only curl up in his arms.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1102

As her face pressed against his chest, the loud thumping of his heart could be heard clearly.

Only then did Yan realize that something was not right.

She should have been fighting against his embrace; not because she hated him, but because she did not want any care from him especially in this situation. However, when she was in his arms, Yan couldn’t help falling deep into his embrace.

It is just… his embrace is so warm.

It was a feeling she felt many times when she was fast asleep and dreaming. It used to only be in her dreams, but now it was reality.

Sadly, reality felt as real as an illusion.

To Yan, all of these were just like bubbles, which would burst with a mere poke.

But despite knowing this, she was still hopelessly attracted to it like a moth to flames.

During the consultation session with the doctor, they found bruises not only on Yan’s face but also on her legs. When her pants were rolled up, huge bruises on her calves and knees came into view. Even the gentlest pressure on her leg from the doctor sent jolts of pain coursing through Yan, making her gasp.

Upon seeing her reaction, the doctor recommended, “It would be best to get an X-ray to check for any fractured bones.”

X-ray? Wouldn’t that be troublesome?

“I think there’s no need for that. I’m—”

“Where do we take the X-ray?”

Han Qing interrupted her, swiftly picking her up after asking where they should get the X-ray done.

The result was soon out. After looking at it, the doctor said to Yan, “Looking at the result, there seems to be no major injury to the bones, but I would advise you to not walk around too much at the moment, and preferably take a few days off to rest. I’ll prescribe you some medicine to get rid of the swelling on your face, and another prescription for your legs.”

“Thank you, Doctor.”

After the consultation, Yan waited on the bench alone while Han Qing went to collect the prescriptions. She just sat there blankly, recalling what happened that day.

Her mind was a mess as she sorted through her thoughts; she couldn’t seem to get them in order no matter how hard she tried.

What had happened to her in that room still frightened her to death. Yan shook her head and rested her head in her hands, but she accidentally touched the swollen part of her face, causing her to hiss sharply.

Right then, Han Qing returned and sat right next to her.

He did not say a word, and instead opened the bag and took out a can of ointment. He opened it, scooped a bit out with the tip of his fingers and very gently moved toward her face.

Yan tried to dodge, looking at him with uncertainty.

“I’m applying ointment,” Han Qing explained, forcefully moving toward her face. Though his actions seemed forceful, the pressure from his fingers as they landed on her face was light, his warm fingers stained with the cool green ointment gliding gently across her skin.

She obediently let Han Qing apply the ointment for her, but couldn’t muster the courage to even look him in the eye.

After he had finished applying the ointment, he twisted the lid close and reminded her, “Twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. If it really hurts, just apply once more. Try to be gentle when you’re washing your face to prevent the wound from worsening.”

Yan nodded.

“For the bruise on your legs.” Han Qing took out another bottle of medicine. He kneeled down in front of her, ready to remove her shoes.

“It’s fine.” Yan quickly stopped him. “I’ll do it myself.”

It’s not like her arms were useless; she could apply the ointment on her kneecaps by herself.

Han Qing looked cool and icy on the outside, and he seemed indifferent to the world, but when it came to something that he wanted to do, he would go all out. For example, treating her wounds.

Even though Yan was relentlessly protesting, he still continued to roll up her pants. After seeing the huge bruise on her fair long legs, his eyes became cold.

But it was gone in a flash. As he applied the ointment on her skin, Yan’s body couldn’t stop shaking, most probably from the pain. Her hands unconsciously grabbed the ends of her shirt tightly.

Han Qing took a glance at her.

“Does it hurt?”

Yan quickly shook her head. “No, it doesn’t hurt.”

Han Qing pursed his lips, his gaze turning a little helpless.

It was clear that the pain was tormenting her but she still carried on, saying that it didn’t hurt. Fortunately, he had gone after her; otherwise she would have to endure all this pain by herself.

“Just bear with this for a while; I’m almost done.”

Han Qing’s gestures became more and more gentle despite working swiftly to minimize the pain Yan felt.

The way he applied the medicine was so gentle, his gaze extremely focused, making it feel as if he was treating the wounds of the love of his life.

The love of his life…

Those five words appeared in her mind but she immediately denied it. How could it be possible?

Yan bit her lower lip. She could not bear it much longer and asked, “You… Why did you bring me to the hospital?”

What she really wanted to ask was why he was suddenly so nice to her, but then she thought that it would be too embarrassing to ask him so directly. Maybe this is nothing to him.

Thus, she changed the question to why he had taken her to the hospital.

She believed Han Qing would understand.

“You are in such a state; where else should we go besides the hospital?”

Han Qing’s reply disappointed her; he did not understand the meaning behind her words, and his reply was not what she wanted to hear.

Something is not right.

Han Qing was not stupid, so how could he not understand what she meant?

Maybe he understood but pretended not to; instead he answered her question as simply as possible.

Well, his answer was certainly more polite.

But she was still unsatisfied. She still wanted to ask him again. She couldn’t help but take a glance at him.

“Then you should have just sent me here; why would you stay and treat my wounds?”

Han Qing was speechless.

He pursed his lips, the movement of his hands slowing down. Even if he was not a hundred percent sure what Yan previously meant, he understood now.

She was asking why he approached her again after rejecting her.

If he guessed it right, that was what she really meant.

Seeing that he was not responding, Yan thought of another possibility.

Maybe he still pitied her, just like the impression she had when she was overseas. If you had the slightest wound, he would immediately feel sympathetic.

In the past, she felt proud to find out this little secret, but now she felt extremely ridiculous.

What was there to be proud of?

Seeing his lips move as if he was trying to say something, Yan quickly stopped him and said: “You don’t have to say anything; I know why.”

Han Qing: “……”

She knows? Han Qing squinted, looked at her while closing the lid, and unrolled her pants.

Seeing this, Yan took the bottle from his hands and smiled.

“Thanks so much for today. How much did you spend?”

Han Qing did not answer her question, so Yan coughed lightly and said, “I know you’re rich, but the medical fees are for the bruises that I got myself. The fact that you have sent me here has already given you a whole lot of trouble. If you still insist on paying for my medical bills, it would not be appropriate for me to accept.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1103

However, Han Qing ended up not telling Yan how much he spent. He lowered his head to avoid her persistently questioning gaze and took the medicine from her hands.

Yan did not know what he wanted to do, so she just allowed him to take the bag.

She watched as he placed the bag in his pocket.

Yan couldn’t help blinking profusely at the sight. Was he angry because she kept pestering him about the bill and now he did not want to give her the medicine?

Yan could only come up with this thought and felt a heaviness in her chest but she quickly dismissed the feeling. If he did not want to give her the medicine, she could just buy some at the drugstore later.

While she was deep in her own thoughts, Han Qing suddenly walked over to her, his hands moving tentatively toward her.

Yan instinctively moved backward and looked straight at Han Qing.

“W-What are you doing?”

Han Qing’s hands paused midair and he helplessly asked, “Are you sure you want to stay here all day in the hospital instead of going home?”

“Go home?”

Only then did Yan realize he intended to take her home. Was he trying to carry me again?

What is going on? Is he addicted to carrying me like a princess? Why does he want to keep carrying me? Wasn’t he the one who stopped me from getting close to him?

“Well, where else do you want to go?”

“Indeed… I definitely want to go home, but you don’t have to drive me. I can go back on my own.”

Although he did not answer her just then, Yan had already guessed his reply. She’d be stupid to ask. She had already asked such an awkward question just now; what kind of person would she be if she accepted his request to send her home?

Han Qing did not panic after listening to her reply. He scanned her, his gaze sweeping from her face and finally landing on her bruised legs. “Go back on your own? Are you sure you can walk with those legs?”

Yan felt a little guilty under the scrutiny of his piercing gaze. She bit her lower lip and nodded. “O-Of course, I definitely can walk by myself.”

“Have you forgotten what the doctor said just now?”

Yan did not reply.

“He asked you not to exercise, and also not to walk too much.”

Yan looked at him speechlessly. Does he mean that he wants to carry me again?

As expected, seeing that Yan had remained silent, Han Qing quickly swept her off her feet. Yan frowned; she didn’t know what to do in this position. She couldn’t bring herself to wrap her arms around his neck again, so she could only hug them against herself.

Throughout the process of carrying her, placing her in the car, and even putting on her seatbelt, Yan was the only one who felt incredibly awkward. Han Qing’s expression remained stoic, his breath steady.

On the other hand, she was a disappointment to herself.

Her emotions changed with each of his actions, her cheeks flushing when their bodies came into contact, her heart racing when she felt his breath.

Once she was in the car, she didn’t dare to ask where he was taking her; instead she just closed her eyes and played dead.

The best course of action for her would be to play dead; she would let herself out of the car once she arrived. She couldn’t put any more thought into it.

As for the medical bills, if he really did not want to take her money, then she would pass it to Muzi and ask her to transfer the money to him. If Muzi couldn’t help, then she would reach out to Little Bean for help.

Little Bean would definitely help her.

On the way back to her house, she kept her eyes tightly closed. At the red light, Han Qing stopped and turned his head to look at her.

She was grasping her seatbelt so tightly. Although her eyes were shut, she looked like she was about to look death in the eye. Her breathing was also unstable.

Her face was swollen, and the hideous palm print on it was still visible.

Han Qing’s eyes darkened, veins visible on his forehead.

At first, Yan was only pretending to sleep, but maybe it was due to Han Qing’s smooth driving or her fatigue from the day’s events, she ended up falling asleep.

When she finally woke up, her surroundings were quiet and the car had stopped.

We’ve arrived?

Yan looked around. This was indeed her house, and they were even in the exact spot where Han Qing used to drop her off at.

She could not believe she actually fell asleep. She quickly turned to look at Han Qing and met his slightly cold eyes.

“You’re awake?”

Yan nodded, immediately coming back to her senses.

“Thanks for sending me back, and also for everything that happened today.”

“No problem.” Han Qing nodded.

Suddenly, the atmosphere became awkward. Yan took a deep breath and said, “I will be going then.”

“I’ll see you up.”

“No! You can’t,” Yan determinedly refused him. “This is my house; I know everyone around here. If you go up with me, we will catch too many eyes and people will misunderstand. I’ll just go up by myself. The doctor said I should walk less, but he didn’t say I couldn’t walk at all.”

As if she was scared that he would not accept her answer, she gave a list of excuses. When she was finished with her reasoning, she realized she might have said too much, so she awkwardly scratched her head and got down from the car.

“Be careful.”

Han Qing wanted to get down but was stopped by Yan. “You don’t need to send me off; you should head back first. I’m really grateful for today…”

After finishing her words, she looked around to make sure none of her neighbors were around, then turned around and limped up the stairs as fast as she could.

Seeing her act as if she had seen a ghost, Han Qing’s cold gaze slowly turned affectionate. His gaze remained on her until her figure was gone from his sight. Only then did he shift his gaze to his steering wheel, and the corner of his lips curved into a smile so slight it almost went unnoticed.

Actually… he didn’t mind it if someone misunderstood.

Yan was panting heavily when she arrived home. The house was very quiet as the Zhou couple were still at the shop, so she was alone.

Yan’s nerves were running high and she felt a sudden thirst, so she went to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, gulping half a glass in no time.

Then, the doorbell rang.

Upon hearing the ring of the doorbell, she became alert at once.

I just returned home and someone is at the door?

Could her neighbor, Mrs. Zhang, have witnessed everything? Yan had no choice but to put down her glass of water and open the door.

She hid behind the door and poked out her head.

Looking at the person standing in front of her, her eyes widened in surprise.

“You…”

“You forgot the medicine.” Han Qing passed her the bag. Yan blankly reached out her hand and took the medicine bag, her emotions muddled.

Han Qing left after giving her the medicine and Yan returned to the living room. She lay on the sofa weakly, swinging the medicine bag in her hand.

Yan only thought to call Luo Huimei to report on her current situation after ten minutes. However, upon searching her pockets, she realized her phone was gone.

Then, she remembered that when her phone had fallen to the ground, Han Qing had picked it up and put it into his pocket.

However, Han Qing ended up not telling Yan how much he spent. He lowered his head to avoid her persistently questioning gaze and took the medicine from her hands.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1105

“There’s no need for that, Mom. The hospital that I went to is the best and they are very professional, so we don’t need to change.”

Luo Huimei nodded, but she still wasn’t assured and gave Yan a thorough check again to make sure that there were no other injuries. After that, Luo Huimei was relieved. “Did they do anything else to you other than hurting you?”

Yan shook her head, fully knowing what Luo Huimei was asking about.

“Then, that’s alright. Those damn people should all go to hell. Didn’t their parents teach them not to hurt a girl? They really are bad people!”

“Mom, don’t be angry.”

“By the way, did you say that Lin Xuzheng saved you?”

“Yes. When I was delivering the meals, he was also there looking for someone. Then, he might have noticed that I didn’t come out at all, so he entered to save me before calling the police. In the end, we all went to the police station.”

“I see. Next time, we need to really thank Mr. Lin properly. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t know what would happen to you.”

In that kind of circumstances, there wasn’t anyone in the room to help Yan and the people who bullied her were all men. Just the thought of it was enough to send shivers of despair down anyone’s spine. “Yes, I’ll find the time to thank him.”

At night, Mr. Zhou reacted in the same manner as Luo Huimei during the day when he found out about the incident, but he was much more agitated than his wife. As soon as he was aware of what happened, he ran toward the kitchen before Luo Huimei grabbed his arm and asked what he wanted to do. Mr. Zhou stated that he was grabbing the kitchen knife to chop Yan’s assailants up.

As Yan sat aside, she held her forehead resignedly. “Dad, it’s illegal to kill someone. You will go to prison too.”

“Well, should I just sit here and do nothing after knowing that my daughter was bullied?”

“Your daughter just said it. The law will help us punish those bad people, so we don’t need to get our hands into it. At most, we can wait until they’re released to teach them a lesson and show them that no one can mess around with our daughter.” With that, Luo Huimei pointed at the kitchen knife in Mr. Zhou’s hand. “That’s not how you should use that knife. I use it to chop meat. Put it back now.”

Mr. Zhou could only put the knife back in the kitchen after that.

Yan quietly wiped off her sweat. Luckily, my parents are rational people and not extremists.

After recovering at home for a day, Yan still hadn’t gotten her phone back and she lacked the courage to call her cell phone, so she only stayed at home for the whole day. On the second day, she planned to go to the shop. The Zhou couple initially disagreed to let her go, but finally agreed when she promised that she would only be taking care of the shop while seated.

The other employees were curious about where she went yesterday because she hadn’t gone to work for a whole day. However, she only used a few words to calmly dismiss them. After all, this wasn’t an honorable thing to reveal to everybody. That was why she used the excuse of a car accident to explain why she wobbled when she walked. A few employees were even considerate enough to allow her to sit for the entire day so that she didn’t need to walk around. Their actions had really touched Yan deeply.

It was almost noon when Lin Xuzheng came. He couldn’t help but quirk up the corners of his lips when he saw Yan. “I knew that you would be at home yesterday to rest for a day before coming to the ramen restaurant today. I didn’t expect my guess to be right.”

When Yan saw him, she was initially startled before showing a grateful expression. The Zhou couple inside also quickly came out, especially Mr. Zhou, who even came up to Lin Xuzheng to shake the latter’s hand passionately. “Welcome, Mr. Lin. Your presence brings glory to our shop…”

Yan and Luo Huimei were rendered speechless while they revealed faces of disdain. Can he not embarrass us like this?

However, Lin Xuzheng politely held Mr. Zhou’s hand and spoke before the latter could say anything. “Let’s go to the private room on the second floor. It’s easier for us to speak there since there’s not many people.”

“Yes. Yes. Yes.”

When they entered the private room, Mr. Zhou made some tea that he picked from his rare collection for Lin Xuzheng to drink. Then, he continued to serve Lin Xuzheng and thanked the latter, even going to the extent of wanting to thank him personally in his house. Otherwise, Mr. Zhou felt that it would make him appear insincere.

Luo Huimei also agreed to his idea. Lin Xuzheng shot a glance at Yan, who was sitting aside quietly, before he smiled faintly. “Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, you don’t need to be this modest actually. To me, I didn’t do that much about the incident. I only helped to open the door and make a phone call. If it were somebody else, they would definitely not turn their backs on her too. Besides, Miss Zhou is still my tenant, and to me, it is necessary to protect my tenant’s safety,” he responded in a formal way that was polite and clear.

Yan looked at him as the meaning he conveyed was obvious. The thing that he did felt nothing to him, so they didn’t need to focus too much on it as it was only a small matter to him. As she thought about it, Lin Xuzheng suddenly spoke, “Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, I have something to discuss about the shop with Miss Zhou alone. Could you two leave us alone for a while?”

“Sure, sure. No problem. You are our daughter’s savior, so do as you please.”

After Luo Huimei and Mr. Zhou left, Yan couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her lips as she was unsure whether to laugh or cry at her parent’s actions. “I’m sorry, Mr. Lin. My parents are enthusiastic and honest people. They are really grateful after knowing that you saved me, so… they might have gone overboard with their enthusiasm. I’m really sorry to have disturbed you.”

“Miss Zhou, your parents are just being sincere, so you don’t need to apologize. Actually, the reason why I came today is to look for you about other things.”

Yan could vaguely guess what he wanted to say and she felt her heart thumping. She lifted her lips, trying to say something to Lin Xuzheng, but suddenly stopped.

“What are you trying to say?” He gazed at her with a smile. “Why don’t I let you speak first? What is your current view on the situation?”

Yan remained speechless as she was confused. It seemed as though she had an idea, but at the same time, she didn’t. Therefore, she shook her head under his gaze in the end. “I don’t have anything to say. Mr. Lin, you can say it first.”

“You really don’t have anything to say? Alright. Looks like you are more introverted, so I’ll start first.” Yan lowered her eyes and didn’t respond. “Let’s start with this shop. When you learned that I knew Han Qing at the police station yesterday, was your first reaction that I leased this shop to you because he requested me to do it and I complied as a favor for him?”

Yan kept quiet as she pressed her lips tightly. She had actually thought of it that way, but after pondering on it when she returned home, she was unsure. According to Lin Xuzheng’s personality, how could he simply hand over his beloved wife’s possession to someone just like that?

He then continued, “To be honest with you, Han Qing did have a word with me back then, but I clearly stated to him that if you don’t comply with my requirements, I would not give you the shop. It didn’t matter who made the request, not even my best friend for the past few years. However, you fulfilled all of the requirements in the end because of your own ability and minute mind.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1106

At this point, Yan felt a bit touched. It turns out that Han Qing really went to look for Lin Xuzheng.

“I was quite shocked to know that you would think of that. Is it because you don’t have much self confidence? You are usually such a strong little lady, but why are you unreasonable when it comes to facing your emotions?”

Yan felt a little awkward. “I’m sorry. At that time… my heart was in a mess. Everything happened so fast that I just couldn’t digest it, so…”

Lin Xucheng tapped the table gently with his fingertips. “And the reason you’re so angry is because you think that Han Qing did all this just to make up to you, right? You even feel that it’s some kind of charity.”

Listening to him, she raised her head to meet his eyes, surprised that he was able to capture her thoughts accurately. He knows everything. “Mr. Lin, you…”

“You’re curious on how I know you so well, right? It’s because my wife was once the same as you. For a long period of time, I never truly understood how her mind worked, so I had angered her a lot. Sometimes I even felt that she was being unreasonable, but in the end, I realized my mistakes. However, my wife also came clean with me afterward because she didn’t know about my true intentions beforehand, so she thought everything I did for her was charity and she even saw it as an insult. You thought the same way about Han Qing, am I right?”

Yan remained silent. She understood the meaning that his words carried as her heart thumped. How is this possible? According to his words, it’s clear that… But, how can Han Qing and I be the same as him and his wife? They have such an affectionate relationship together, so we can’t be compared to them at all. Maybe Lin Xuzheng misunderstood something. Thinking about it, she composed herself and smiled at him. “Mr. Lin, is this why you came over to see me today? Thank you for your words. I understand.”

Then, Lin Xuzheng carefully looked into Yan’s eyes. Even though she said that she understood, there wasn’t any sign of enlightenment in her eyes. If she really understood what he tried to convey, she wouldn’t have acted in this way. He quickly identified the problem. If it weren’t for his experience, it would have been hard for him to notice it.

As the idea came to his mind, Lin Xuzheng’s tapping of the table fell into a rhythm as he thought to himself, After this, Han Qing will owe me two favors, right? What should I ask for then? “Did you know what he was doing when I called him yesterday?”

Yan furrowed her dashing brows as she couldn’t quite understand what he meant. Lin Xuzheng then quirked up the corners of his lips slightly. “I heard from his secretary that he was discussing a business worth billions.”

The moment he finished his words, her hands shook and uncertainty floated in her eyes as she looked at him. Her lips trembled while she glanced at the man in front of her due to uncertainty. “Mr. Lin, what do you mean by those words?”

“There isn’t any other meaning. I’m just asking to see if you’d still be angry after knowing that he gave up a business worth billions for you.”

She remained silent as her face turned pale.

Lin Xuzheng smiled. “Don’t be nervous. You don’t need to pay for his loss. I think he did it voluntarily.” She still couldn’t utter a word. “That’s all I have to say. If it weren’t for the sake of my good friend and me happening to know you, I really wouldn’t have come here today.” With that, he left the place and left her to sit in the private room alone.

For a moment, it seemed as though time had stopped. There was no other sound, save for her own heartbeat. She heard her heart thumping against her body in a fierce manner, as if it tried to burst out of its cage. Why… Since he doesn’t like me, why did he give up a business worth billions for me? Is it because… I was in the police station? Or is it because he was afraid of feeling guilty if something happened to me? Yan was already unsure and she was only more confused now.

What is Han Qing actually thinking? They say that a woman’s heart is the hardest to decipher, but why do I feel that his heart is more complicated than a woman’s? In the end, she felt like her mind was on the verge of exploding. Therefore, she stopped thinking about it and pondered on something else instead.

No matter what Han Qing thought, the reason she became angry was because she still liked him. Hence, she thought of his actions as charity, which agitated her so much. Thinking about it now, he came to the police station with good intentions to see me, but instead, I snapped at him and even threw away his paper. Takeouts! Why don’t I send him some ramen as compensation? He said those words himself and he even paid for my medical fee, so it should be alright for me to send him a few days’ worth of takeouts. Then again, if what Lin Xuzheng said earlier was true, I won’t be able to repay him even if I deliver a lifetime of takeouts to him. I’m getting a headache. Yan held her head and grunted.

The next day, Yan went out with some ramen. Luo Huimei was unable to find out from Yan what the latter wanted to do, so the former brushed it off and let her go.

When Yan arrived at the ground floor of the Han Group building, she sighed as she paid the parking fee. This must be the most expensive delivery I have ever done. Just the parking fee alone costs me about 50 to 60. However, as she thought about the amount of money that Han Qing lost, she felt that this small payment was really not worth mentioning.

She had known Han Qing for a long time—she hugged him, kissed him, went to his house, and even slept on his bed, but she never dropped by his company before. Therefore, she went to the receptionist because she couldn’t find her way. She was smart not to directly mention that she was looking for President Han. She only said that she was looking for his secretary, Su Jiu.

After hearing that she was looking for a woman, the receptionist wasn’t alarmed by her presence at all, but the former still squinted her eyes at her. “So, you are looking for our president’s secretary, Su Jiu. Have you made an appointment?”

Yan shook the bag in her hand and smiled. “Does ordering ramen from our shop count as making an appointment?”

“It’s a takeout?” The receptionist was startled for a moment. To be honest, despite having a quality cafeteria in the company, it was difficult for the employees not to get fed up with the food. Therefore, the employees sometimes chose not to eat at the restaurant. They sometimes ordered takeouts themselves. With that, it became normal for riders to deliver takeout meals to the company, so the receptionist never doubted Yan when the former called Su Jiu directly.

When Su Jiu received the call, she was shocked. “Takeout? When have I ordered a takeout?”

Yan never expected the receptionist to call Su Jiu right away, so when they talked on the phone, the former spoke in a loud volume, “Secretary Su, I’m Zhou Xiaoyan. You’ve ordered some ramen from our shop. Do you need me to bring it up to you? If it’s inconvenient for you, you can also come down to take it.”

Su Jiu remained silent at first. After hearing her name, she immediately changed her tone. “It looks like she came with my ramen. Let her take the elevator up.”

As soon as the call ended, the receptionist gave Yan a weird look. “You can take the elevator over there. Secretary Su is waiting for you upstairs.”

“Thank you.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1107

When Yan rode in the elevator, her calm heart now started to become uneasy. Before she came, she had already done a good amount of thinking and told herself not to be nervous. I’m here to deliver a takeaway anyway. I need to express my apologies and gratitude only—nothing else. I don’t need to be nervous. Just treat it as usual.

As she was about to exit the elevator, she inhaled a couple of deep breaths. When she exited, someone already waited for her outside and it was the face of a stranger. “Hello, are you Miss Zhou, as in Zhou Xiaoyan?”

Seeing the unfamiliar face of a girl in front of her, Yan was startled at first before she nodded.

“Secretary Su asked me to come and receive you. Please follow me.”

After hearing Su Jiu’s name, Yan, who had no idea on what the situation was, followed the girl blankly. I’m at Han Group anyway. Nothing bad will happen to me here. Under the guidance of the girl, Yan walked forward with the bag in her hands before being brought to a room.

“Miss Zhou, please wait here for the moment. Secretary Su said that she’ll come for you in a short while.”

“Thank you.”

After the girl was gone, Yan looked at her surroundings. It was a huge room with a couch, coffee table, and access to a water dispenser. There was even a wine cabinet with coffee and other drinks. This must be Han Qing’s guest room. The guest rooms that big companies have are really different from ours. I’m the one who designed the guest room in Muzi’s company, but it is nowhere as complete as this one.

Five short minutes later, footsteps were heard coming from outside. “Yan.”

The person who entered wore a professional office suit that complimented her pair of high heels, which made her look refined. Then, Yan stood up, smiling. “Secretary Su.”

“It’s really you. I wasn’t too sure on the phone just now.” Su Jiu also revealed her joy on her face. She was Han Qing’s secretary. Even though she never had one-to-one contact with Yan, she had worked alongside Han Qing and the latter always followed Han Muzi. This led to both Su Jiu and Yan becoming close with each other in the end.

“Yes.” Yan remembered how flustered she looked earlier and lowered her head awkwardly.

Su Jiu took a good look at Yan. Today, Yan wore an orange shirt with a pair of custom made jeans. With her ponytail at the back, she looked bright and refreshing to the eye. Yan’s face was already exceptionally tender, but Su Jiu felt that the former resembled more like a recent college graduate with that attire. Yan was pure, beautiful and innocent.

“Are you looking for President Han?”

After being asked so directly, Yan’s fair face reddened while she nodded embarrassingly. “I…”

“Sadly, he is now in a meeting.”

Listening to her, Yan immediately waved her hands and her voice began to fluster. “It’s fine. It’s fine. I can wait for him here. Shouldn’t you be busy too now that he is having a meeting?”

Su Jiu nodded resignedly. “Yes. I’m his secretary, so I need to follow up everything with him. I used an excuse to come out for a while. After I’m done entertaining you, I need to head in and continue with the meeting.”

As Su Jiu finished speaking, Yan felt embarrassed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know I would bring so much trouble to you. You should return to the meeting quickly. Don’t delay anymore.”

Su Jiu gave her a profound look. “What trouble are you talking about? It’s only a few minutes. You don’t need to be so nervous. This is the VIP guest room, so there is a television and a computer. You can entertain yourself with them if you’re bored.”

“Alright. Thanks!”

After Su Jiu left, Yan was the only person in the guest room. According to her knowledge, big companies usually had meetings that lasted one or two hours at least—and even that would be considered a quick meeting. Longer meetings would be held for four or five hours and some lasted for the whole day. She had no idea on how long she needed to wait, but when she thought of the amount of money that she caused him to lose, she felt that it wouldn’t be much if she waited here for days.

The worst part was that she brought ramen for him. After being soaked for a long time in the soup, the noodles will be softened. By that time, he definitely can’t eat it and the taste would be bad. Upon thinking about it, Yan lay down on the couch in despair. At first, she still sat up, but simply lay down when she became bored. Then, she took out her phone to entertain herself, but soon lost interest in it. Therefore, she started to browse some websites to the point where her eyes started to become exhausted, but there still wasn’t anyone outside. When will the meeting end? She took a glimpse at the time and realized that an hour had passed.

It is likely that they won’t come out within the hour. Yan looked around before suddenly standing up to close the door of the guest room. After that, she removed her shoes and lay back on the couch. She removed her feathery jacket to cover herself after she slept for a while and lay down again before she closed her eyes.

At the conference room.

Most of the company’s employees gradually left the room after concluding the meeting. Han Qing also stood up and walked toward his office. Meanwhile, Su Ju was in the midst of gathering her stuff when she remembered something all of a sudden. When she lifted her head, he was nowhere to be seen, so she quickly chased after him with her documents in her arms. “President Han.”

After hearing Su Jiu’s voice, Han Qing slowed down. “What’s the problem?”

“President Han, Miss Zhou came to look for you.”

Miss Zhou? Zhou Xiaoyan? Han Qing frowned his brows. “She came? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

His reaction caused Su Jiu to narrow her eyes at him curiously. Why do I feel… that there’s a bit of affection from his tone? Therefore, she couldn’t help but try to mess with him. “President Han, weren’t you having a meeting just now? As your secretary, how could I simply let other people interrupt such an important meeting?”

Han Qing was rendered speechless. Without uttering a word, he spread his slim legs and walked toward outside. Su Jiu caught up to him again. “President Han, where are you going now?”

Han Qing ignored her, but it was obvious that the direction he headed to wasn’t his office.

“President Han, are you going to look for Miss Zhou?” she asked again.

“Secretary Su.” Han Qing stopped in his steps and looked at her with displeasure. “Don’t you have work to do?”

“I do, but before I continue my work, I feel obligated to tell you that I’ve asked someone to bring Miss Zhou to the VIP guest room when you were in the meeting.”

Upon listening to her, Han Qing’s brows twitched as he stared at her coldly.

It was probably because Su Jiu had worked alongside him for a long time that she was confident. When she faced his cold stare, she felt nothing at all and smiled instead. “I’ve heard that Miss Zhou brought something for you to eat, but now that the meeting’s over, I don’t think you’d be able to eat it anymore.”

Han Qing still remained silent.

“That’s all. I’ll head back to work now.” Su Jiu turned around and left with her heels clacking. Soon after, she disappeared from Han Qing’s sight.

Han Qing stood rooted to the spot for a while. Why do I suddenly have the feeling that I should change my secretary? This secretary of mine has been following me for a long time, and now, she is not afraid of me anymore! Where has my deterrence gone? As he thought about it, he walked toward the VIP guest room.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1108

Silence fell after the door to the VIP guest room was pushed open. The warm afternoon sun shone through the French windows and half of its rays were reflected in the room. A young woman lay on the couch quietly and used his jacket as a blanket. As she was curled into a ball, she was probably quite cold.

This was exactly what Han Qing saw as soon as he entered. There was no more room for his legs when he lay on the same couch, yet it accommodated the woman perfectly—she even looked smaller while she slept on it.

Han Qing had never expected that she would fall asleep in the guest room. Before he arrived, he thought that the young woman would have already left impatiently. After all, he was already quite surprised by the fact that she had unexpectedly showed up.

After sending her home the other day, she clearly looked like she didn’t want to talk to him anymore. He had been quite cold for a while now. Even though he was moved by her, he controlled his emotions well—though she expressed that she wanted to give up on him. If keeping a distance made her happier, he would gladly oblige. After all, even he could not have predicted his own emotions.

Before he realized it, Han Qing had already inched toward the young woman. Finally, he squatted beside her to look at her sleeping face with a hint of emotion in his eyes.

Though Yan was still fast asleep, she could feel a pair of eyes staring at her. Perhaps she had a sharp sixth sense and slowly opened her eyes.

Han Qing couldn’t understand why he walked toward her in the beginning. Now that she suddenly opened her eyes, it was too late for him to avoid her as it would have looked more suspicious. Hence, he remained in his position without moving an inch.

When their gazes met, Yan still looked dazed as she had just woken up. As his handsome face appeared in front of her, her heart immediately sank and she suddenly regained her senses. As a result, she sat up abruptly, causing the jacket to fall to the ground. “W-W-Why are you here?” she stammered out of nervousness with all of her eloquence gone. Looking at Han Qing, who was still squatting in front of her with a reddened face, she smoothed her long hair anxiously. “I-I think I’ve overslept.” She only planned to just take a short nap, but she never realized that she ended up in a deep sleep instead.

Han Qing said flatly after he thought about it, “Don’t sleep in the guest room in the future.”

Yan was speechless upon hearing that. He must be thinking that his reputation is affected because I slept here. After all, this is his VIP reception room and I’m not considered a VIP. Thinking of this, she bit her lower lips awkwardly. “I’m sorry, I—”

Just when she was about to say ‘I didn’t mean it’, Han Qing interrupted, “It’s winter now. You’ll catch a cold if you sleep here. If you want to rest, you can go to the resting area.”

When Yan was about to stand up to retrieve her stuff, she stopped right after hearing his words. Then, she raised her head to look at Han Qing in surprise, but had no idea what to say. She lacked the courage to look into Han Qing’s eyes, hence her eyes darted around aimlessly before she suddenly saw a bag on the table. Oh, yeah, I brought ramen for Han Qing. It’s perfect to ask him to eat that to ease the atmosphere. “Didn’t you ask me to send some food over to you? Here it is. It’s—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Han Qing suddenly inched closer to her. With just one breath away from her, Yan’s body froze as she looked at him with blank, widened eyes. “W-What’s wrong?”

“Your injuries are healed now?” He looked calmly at the side of her face, which was swollen earlier. Yan took a few steps back subtly while she nodded. “Yeah, they are all healed.”

“What about your legs? Are they alright now as well?”

Suddenly, Yan felt that the way he asked about her injuries was quite dominant. It sounded as if he didn’t believe her words, so she continued to nod dryly to acknowledge it. “Yes.”

“Are you sure?”

Yan didn’t dare to answer him anymore and guiltily shifted her gaze. In all honesty, her legs still hurt a little when she walked, but it was not as serious as the first day. She was still able to bear with the amount of pain right now.

“It seems like it’s not completely healed and you’re already running around?” Han Qing frowned. Just when he was about to roll her pants up, Yan stopped his hand. “Don’t look at it! It’s already the third day. Although it is still a little painful, it’s almost healed. On top of that, there’s nothing wrong with my bones! It’s just some additional injuries, which will heal fast.”

Her hands pressed on the back of Han Qing’s warm hand. He noticed that the size of her hand was just half of his. His palm was able to hold both of her hands together.

Seeing that he didn’t utter a word, Yan looked at her hand and retracted it in a panic. “I-I-I’m sorry! Y-Y-You better eat your food. This is the takeaway I brought for you.” She then quickly stood up to take the ramen from the bag. Looking at her anxious expression, Han Qing calmly sat on the opposite couch.

After she opened the lid, she discovered that the ramen noodles in it had turned soft and cold. Hence, she quickly put the lid back. “Um… It doesn’t taste good anymore after such a long time. It’s better not to eat it.”

Upon hearing that, Han Qing frowned slightly. “The taste isn’t good anymore?”

Yan nodded. Thinking about how she had waited for him until she fell asleep, Han Qing glanced at the bowl of ramen in her hand and explained flatly, “I’m not fussy.” With that, he meant, ‘I don’t care if it’s good or not; I can still eat it.”

Of course Yan understood him and shook her head. “It won’t work even though you aren’t fussy. Since it has already turned cold, I’ll just throw it out.” With that, she placed the box of ramen back into the bag. However, Han Qing moved faster than her and grabbed the box that she was about to throw away and placed it in front of him.

“You’re not going to eat it, are you? The ramen has been soaked in there for as long as the duration of your meeting. I’ve touched it just now—it has turned completely cold and you can’t eat it anymore.” It was out of desperation that Yan suggested Han Qing to eat it earlier. But now, if he really wanted to go ahead, she would regret it a lot.

After Han Qing sat down, he opened the lid again. Just as she had said, the noodles turned soggy and it had turned cold after being left aside in the winter. Indeed, it couldn’t be eaten anymore.

However, how could I let her down? At least I don’t want to do that now. Thinking of this, Han Qing broke the chopsticks apart while Yan watched. The way he did that was quite elegant and graceful. Finally, he took the ramen with the chopsticks.

Yan bit her lower lip. “You’ll get an upset stomach.” Right before he put the ramen into his mouth, she couldn’t help but run over to hug his hand. “You will really fall ill after eating that. Don’t eat it.”

Han Qing was at a loss for words. Half of her soft body leaned against him as she hugged his hand—the one that held the chopsticks. He slowly raised his eyes to look at her before saying, “Fine. I’m not eating it then.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1109

Yan was so anxious that her eyes reddened and she almost burst into tears. It was only after she heard Han Qing’s gentle reply that she realized she had overreacted. She quickly loosened her hands and took a step back before she put the food back in the bag.

They had no idea what to say all of the sudden, hence, silence fell in the reception room. Someone suddenly knocked on the door at this moment—it was Su Jiu standing by the door with a half-amused expression. “Have you finished your meal? President Han, there’s a video conference in five minutes and I’ve already prepared the documents for you.”

Han Qing did not reply to her and frowned while Yan turned around. Didn’t he just finish a meeting? There’s one more? Just how busy is he everyday? After the previous meeting, he didn’t even have the chance to have lunch. If he has another meeting now, he won’t be able to eat something!

“Got it,” he answered. “I’ll be over soon.”

After Su Jiu heard Han Qing’s reply, she waved to Yan before leaving. This made Yan feel even more uneasy. She took the bag and rose to her full height. “Since you are going to be busy soon, I shall take my leave first.”

Seeing that she was about to leave, Han Qing wanted to ask her to wait for him for a little longer. When he remembered how long she had waited for him earlier, there was no point in that because she fell asleep out of boredom. He hesitated for a moment before saying, “Since your leg is injured, I’ll ask Mr. Nan to send you home. Just wait here for him for 15 minutes.” With that, he called Mr. Nan, who rushed over as soon as possible. Han Qing also made a move moments before the conference call started.

But before he left, he asked, “Are you coming again?”

“Hmm?”

“Tomorrow.”

blinked before dryly saying, “I-I suppose so…”

“Okay.”

After he left, Yan realized that her heartbeat raced earlier. Han Qing… is inviting me to come again? A thought that she never allowed herself to think about slowly formed in her mind. She knew what that was, but she didn’t dare to think deeper into it. She just wanted to carefully take care of it and nourish it.

After Yan waited in the reception room for about ten minutes, Mr. Nan arrived. Wearing a shirt and a thin cardigan, he smiled at her while he stood at the door. “Miss Yan, President Han has asked me to send you home.”

Yan felt that Mr. Nan was an amiable person as he had always driven both Muzi and her around in the past. However, she felt a little awkward after looking at what she wore. Although winter was almost over, it was still quite chilly. Many people had changed into a thinner cardigan, but she still wore her thin down jacket with a simple T-shirt underneath.

If she felt warm, she could take it off and vice versa as it was quite convenient. However, many people regarded her as an abnormality. After all, some even started wearing short-sleeved shirts. “Mr. Nan, thanks for taking the trouble to send me back.” After that, she threw the ramen into a trash bin downstairs. Initially, Yan planned to go home, but after thinking about it, she thought she should help out at her mother’s restaurant, so she asked Mr. Nan to send her there.

As soon as she exited the car, Luo Huimei narrowed her eyes to look at the elderly man in the car before she pulled the former aside immediately upon her entrance. “Who sent you back just now?”

Yan’s expression changed immediately after she was asked this question. “Just someone whom I know. Why?”

Luo Huimei remained silent. Seeing her daughter’s avoidant gaze, Luo Huimei grabbed the former’s shirt. “What is this attitude of yours? You don’t dare to tell me? I saw it with my own eyes just now that an elderly man sent you back. Don’t tell me that—”

“Mom!” Yan understood Luo Huimei well. After Yan heard Luo Huimei’s questions, she immediately knew what her mother had been thinking, so the former stopped the latter immediately. “He is a respected elderly person. Please don’t judge him with such shallow thinking!”

“What nonsense are you talking about? Have I said anything?”

Yan replied angrily, “Who knows what you’d say if I didn’t stop you on time? It would be better to stop you in advance.”

“What kind of respected elderly man drives such a good car? Tell me!”

Yan didn’t wish to talk about this topic. “My leg hurts. I’m heading upstairs to rest.”

“Make it clear before you go! Why are you in such a hurry?” Even though Luo Huimei had said so, she didn’t dare to chase after Yan, considering the latter’s leg injuries. Luo Huimei was worried that if she had done so, her daughter would run and that would hinder the recovery process.

It was getting closer to Han Muzi’s due date. Her belly had recently grown so much that she could barely squat. It would be difficult for her each time she lay down to sleep or when she tried to get up from the bed. Back when she expected Little Bean, her belly wasn’t this big. However, it felt like she carried a heavy ball inside her this time around. More worryingly, her limbs and her neck and even her face had grown at a fast speed.

Because of this, Han Muzi complained to Yan about it. After hearing that, Yan did a search online and told Han Muzi, “I heard that the second pregnancy is very different from the first. It will be more difficult for you to return to your previous figure and many mothers had gained a lot more weight after having the second baby, but you have to be confident in yourself. You’ll be alright once you deliver the baby.”

Confidence? I have none of it! Han Muzi never thought that Ye Moxuan was a man who only cared about looks. After all, both of them had experienced a lot, so it was quite impossible for him to ditch her—just because of how she looked right now. However, for someone she loved to see how she looked right now, he probably remembered this for the rest of his life. Even if she managed to lose weight in the future, her current figure would remain etched in his mind forever. Thinking of this, Han Muzi almost burst into tears. She never allowed him to enter her room during the night and chased him to the guest room to sleep.

The sudden swing in her emotions worried her husband, Ye Moxuan. In the beginning, he thought it was just a little temper tantrum that would end in a couple of days. The situation remained the same after a few days—in fact, it was more serious. Not only did she not allow him to enter the room, she did not even want to see him.

This had caused Ye Moxuan a lot of distress. If he couldn’t see her, he couldn’t ask her why. However, Ye Moxuan lacked the courage to barge into the room, seeing that she was heavily pregnant. After he thought about it, he could only go to Song An for help.

After Song An heard that, she was confused. “What’s going on? Did you do something wrong? Don’t tell me that she’s ignoring you because you are involved with another woman during her pregnancy? Ye Moxuan, if you really did that, I will break your legs on behalf of your mom.”

Ye Moxuan remained silent with a morosed and displeased look.

“Did you do that? Tell me the truth!” If he still remained silent, she would continue interrogating him.

Ye Moxuan finally responded, “Your jokes are too much! Stop it. Do you think I’m someone who would do that?”

“Who knows?” Although Song An teased him, she knew that Ye Moxuan would not do that indeed. After all, no woman was able to trap him. After so many years, Han Muzi had been the only one.

“Alright, I’ll find out what’s going on for you. Although she doesn’t want to see you, she should be fine with seeing me.”

Ye Moxuan wasn’t too sure, but he still nodded. “Sorry for the trouble, Aunty.”

“Tsk! At least you are more polite now. Just because of this, I will help you to convince Muzi even if you have really done something wrong.” However, she added after that, “But if you are really fooling around outside, I will ask her to break your leg with me.” Then, Song An went to see Han Muzi. While Han Muzi lay on the couch without having the urge to do anything, she heard that there was a knock on the door.

“Muzi, it’s me, Aunty Song.”

Han Muzi only returned to her senses when she heard Song An’s voice from outside. Aunty Song? Why is she here? She immediately realized that Ye Moxuan must have asked Aunty Song to come here. Hmph, that bastard actually asked her to help him out! How infuriating!

Since Aunty Song was their elder, Han Muzi couldn’t pretend that she wasn’t around, so she asked, “Aunty Song, what’s up?”

“I heard that you haven’t been feeling well for the past few days. I’m a little worried, so I’m just here to visit you. Are you okay? Do you need me to bring you to the hospital for a checkup? Even if you don’t want to go to the hospital, it’s fine too. I used to be a doctor, so I roughly know what’s going on with you. May I enter to take a look for you?” With that, Song An tried to turn the door knob. Even though it twisted with a sound, the door did not open as Han Muzi had already locked it from inside.

Han Muzi held onto the chair for support as she stood up arduously. Then, she walked to the door and asked Song An quietly, “Aunty, are you alone?”

Song An knew about Han Muzi’s worries. As Song An never expected Han Muzi to be direct, the former couldn’t help but smile in her heart. She had fortunately foreseen this, so she already chased Ye Moxuan away. Otherwise, Han Muzi would never open the door for her. Thinking of this, Song An said, “Yeah. I’m out here alone now. Don’t you worry about anything. Feel free to tell me everything. If he lets you down, I’ll definitely be on your side. I won’t side with that b*stard Ye Moxuan.”

Creak! The door was finally opened, but there was only a gap. Song An peeked inside, but she didn’t see Han Muzi. “Where are you?”

“Aunty Song, I’m here.” After Han Muzi opened the door wider, Song An entered. Right after that, Han Muzi shut the door immediately, worried that someone might enter after Song An.

“Don’t worry. Since you don’t want to see him, he won’t force his way in. If so, he won’t come to me in the first place.”

He was just worried that Han Muzi couldn’t take it, so he took a step back and looked for Song An’s assistance.

While they chatted, Song An silently appraised Han Muzi. In fact, both of them hadn’t met each other for quite some time. Right after Ye Moxuan regained his memories, Song An never intruded the couple’s life anymore and returned to her place instead—while taking the old man along with her. She occasionally flew abroad with him as well. After some mental calculations, she hadn’t met Han Muzi for two months.

Two months ago, she realized that Muzi’s belly was quite big already and two months later… Song An couldn’t help but snort out laughing. “Muzi, how did you…” How did you gain so much weight?

She lacked the courage to say it aloud for the fear of hurting Han Muzi’s pride. However, her derisive snort had been too obvious and she looked at Han Muzi all the time too. It was quite obvious what Song An meant by now. Indeed, right after Song An laughed, Han Muzi’s fair face immediately reddened and she turned around in embarrassment. “Oh, stop laughing at me, Aunty.”

Song An stopped laughing and looked at her. “It’s only been two months. How did you get to this stage?”

Han Muzi looked depressed. “I have no idea at all. Probably it’s because all I have done is eat and sleep, but when I had Little Bean, it’s not like this at all.”

When Han Muzi spoke, Song An noticed the frustration on the former’s face—her entire face was twisted into a worried expression because of this. “So this is why you wouldn’t see Moxuan?”

Although Han Muzi was quite embarrassed, she admitted it by nodding her head. “Aunty, since both of us are women, I won’t keep this from you. If possible, I really want to deliver the baby alone.” Back when Han Muzi was pregnant with Little Bean, she never looked like this at all. Although her figure was slightly plump as well, it took some time for her to return to her original figure. On top of that, she was alone at that time as Ye Moxuan was not with her—and she never cared about how others looked at her, so she didn’t mind how she looked. However, it was different now. Ye Moxuan was right beside her on a daily basis as he watched her gain weight. She was on the verge of breaking down just by thinking about it.

“You silly girl, what are you thinking? Every woman will experience this. If he doesn’t like you anymore or if he thinks that you are not good enough just because you’ve gained weight just after childbirth, are you able to continue living with him? Childbirth is already very tough yet you want to go through it alone? If this is what you really think about, don’t blame me for scolding you.”

“But…” Han Muzi lowered her head in disappointment. She felt despair as soon as she looked at her thick arms and calves.

“Come on, don’t worry about it. After you deliver the baby, everything will be fine. You will still be you.” After that, Song An gave Han Muzi a lot of advice and forbade her to deliver the baby alone. Han Muzi had to face Ye Moxuan directly.

After a long time, Han Muzi finally nodded in agreement. When Song An exited the room, Ye Moxuan was right outside and as soon as he saw her, he walked to her immediately. “How was it? Why did Muzi ignore me?”

As Song An spoke to Han Muzi for a long time, the former was quite tired of talking, hence, she ordered, “Go and pour a glass of water for me.”

Ye Moxuan remained silent as he stood still.

Song An arched her eyebrows. “You’re not going to do that? Don’t you want to know what Muzi is thinking? Or you don’t want to see her after all?” She was obviously threatening him.

Ye Moxuan frowned and turned around to pour a glass of water for Song An. After gulping it down, Song An’s throat felt much better and after putting the glass aside, she realized that Ye Moxuan looked at her coldly before he asked in a murderous tone, “Can you tell me now?”

“What? Why are you looking at me as if I’m your arch-enemy? What can you do to me if I don’t tell you?”

Ye Moxuan’s expression immediately turned cold and sinister. He opened his mouth slowly after thinking about it for two seconds. “It shouldn’t be too difficult to make you throw up the water that you have just drunk.”

“What?!” Song An looked at Ye Moxuan in disappointment. “Do you still regard me as your aunt? When you came to ask me for help, your attitude wasn’t like this! Ah, forget it! I’ve already discussed it with her. She won’t lock you out tonight anymore.”

Although he received the answer that he wanted, he still didn’t know the reason why Han Muzi ignored him for the past few days, hence, he didn’t leave and continued to ask, “What is the reason?”

“The reason? I promised her not to tell you. If you really want to know, you should ask her yourself.”
