Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1141
The thought of this upset Yan. I’ve already made it clear to him—how can he be so cunning?
‘Don’t play any tricks with me and send me the address now. Otherwise, I’m going to get angry, and trust me, you don’t want to see that.’
Reading this message, Little Bean could almost imagine Yan’s reaction right now and that almost made him chuckle. However, he had no choice as he really disliked this blind date of hers. Furthermore, he did not feel that it was wrong to get him to buy him a meal. He was merely testing the waters.
If Li Sihan could afford it, that would be great; if he could not, it would not be the end of the world. As long as he was willing to admit that he could not afford it.
‘Aunt Yan, please don’t worry. I’ll see what I can do.’
‘Address. Quickly.’
Little Bean replied with a winky face emoji before putting his phone away, and that was the end of their conversation. Yan was extremely irritated by his reply. She looked upset while standing at the entrance of the shop. At this point, Luo Huimei stepped outside to check on her as she had not gotten a cab after being out there for a while. “What’s going on?”
“Little Bean refuses to give me the address,” Yan explained helplessly.
“Why? Doesn’t this little brat worry about himself?”
“What’s there for him to worry about? Mom, we should be worried about my blind date. He’s about to be ripped off by Little Bean.”
“What are you talking about? Little Bean’s so adorable, and he’s still a kid. How could he do that to anyone?”
Yan was rendered speechless. Annoyed, she glanced at her mother, who had been thoroughly deceived by Little Bean. Little Bean must have been putting on a show in front of them and that was why both Mr. Zhou and Luo Huimei had no idea about the little devil’s true colors.
At this point, Yan decided to put the argument to an end. She remarked, “Let me send a message to Li Sihan.” Even though she had exchanged WeChat contact details with him, they still did not possess each other’s phone numbers.
In the beginning, calling Little Bean seemed to be a better option because she knew him better, and supposedly it would be easier for her to get the information she needed. However, she did not expect Little Bean to be so stubborn and difficult. Now, she had no choice but to approach Li Sihan. So, she sent him a message on WeChat.
After a while, she finally received a response. ‘Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of him.’
This response perplexed Yan. Why isn’t he willing to let me know their location? Has he been brainwashed by Little Bean? How could this little brat… Nevermind. There’s no way I can bring myself to hate Little Bean anyway. At this point, Yan was left with no other option but to catch a cab. When she got in the cab, she asked the driver, “Sir, do you know where the most expensive place is?”
“Most expensive?” The driver looked bemused yet deep in thought.
Seeing this, Yan quickly added, “A restaurant!”
An epiphany seemed to have bestowed on the driver. “Well, I’ve been working this job for a long time, so I do know a few places like that. Which one would you like to go to?”
Which one? Yan had no clue where Little Bean would take Li Sihan, but since Little Bean did not want her to be there, she was sure Li Sihan was about to get ripped off badly by him. The only thing she could do right now was to visit all the restaurants one by one.
At this moment, Yan followed up, “Could you bring me to one of them first so that I can go in to look for someone. If that person is not there, we’ll move on to the next one.”
The driver thought about it and nodded. “Sure.”
As the car began moving, Yan sent a message to Li Sihan. She had to make sure the message sounded tactful and respectful to avoid crushing his ego.
‘I’m truly sorry for Little Bean’s behavior. You guys have just met, so you don’t have the obligation to buy him any meals. How about this: I’ll pay on his behalf today, or you can let me have the address so I can head over right now.’
Putting it this way shouldn’t hurt his ego, Yan thought. However, after sending out the message, she did not get a reply. At this point, waiting was the only thing she could do.
On the other side, Little Bean had led Li Sihan to their destination. Whilst there, the sight of the majestic hotel astounded Li Sihan even though he told himself that there was no way a kid would come to a hotel for a meal. This hotel appeared to be a five-star hotel. How does Little Bean know about this place? It’s probably because this building is a landmark that’s close to our destination, so coming here would make it easier for us to get to our destination.
After convincing himself, Li Sihan proceeded to bring Little Bean out of the car. “Let’s go and grab something to eat.”
How is he still so generous when we’re at a place like this? Little Bean blinked and wondered if he was indeed going to treat him to an expensive meal. Hmph!
Shortly after that, the two arrived at the entrance of the hotel. Just as Little Bean was about to bring Li Sihan to walk through the entrance, Li Sihan became slightly startled. “Little Bean, are we at the wrong place?”
Hearing this, Little Bean turned around and looked at him with his bright and dazzling eyes. “Wrong place? No, sir.”
“But you…” Li Sihan began to look frightened as he figured that this little kid was indeed planning on eating at this five-star hotel. How much would this cost?
“Sir, are you going back on your word?”
As they were standing at the entrance, a lot of people were walking past them. Little Bean’s voice was not loud, but it was loud enough to make Li Sihan feel nervous and embarrassed. He then responded in a low voice, “I’m not; I just feel that this might not be the best place for kids. Why don’t I bring you somewhere that has really nice food for kids?”
Little Bean rolled his eyes and inquired, “Are you afraid that this place might be too expensive? Don’t worry. If you don’t wanna buy me a meal, I can ask Uncle Qing to come and pay.” Hmph! If you’re not as nice as Uncle Qing, please don’t even think of taking Aunt Yan away.
Although he said this, he was not sure if Uncle Qing would show up after reading the message. Little Bean felt disgruntled and decided that he would never talk to Uncle Qing again if he did not turn up.
Li Sihan did not know how to respond to that. However, Little Bean’s words about calling his uncle to come and pay for him did embarrass Li Sihan. Previously, before Little Bean could finish his sentence, he was pulled away by Yan, but Li Sihan heard him loud and clear. Yan must have a special relationship with his uncle. Now, this little kid is talking about asking his uncle to come and pay—does he despise me? Not wanting to lose his face, Li Sihan stated, “No need. I can afford it. You want to eat here, don’t you? Let’s go in then.”
“Oh, then thank you.”
After the two went in, Little Bean familiarly and easily found his way to a cubicle. Standing next to the server, Li Sihan felt slightly uneasy. Nevertheless, he still had to ask, “What’s the minimum spending here?”
The server responded politely, “Good day, sir. For cubicles, the minimum spending is 5,000.”
5,000?! Li Sihan looked terrified as that would mean he had to spend at least 5,000 today.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1142
5,000. Perhaps, with 5,000… Nevermind. I’m just afraid that the kid will come up with some other tricks to rip me off even more.
At this juncture, Li Sihan felt regretful and could not stop thinking that he should not have pretended to be someone he was not. But since they were already here, it would not look good if he were to leave right now.
Li Sihan was full of regrets. After entering the cubicle, he painstakingly watched Little Bean put in the order while calculating how much it would cost in his heart, trying to comfort himself. Whatever. It’s just 5,000; it’s not even enough to marry someone. The most important thing right now is to win her heart.
The thought of marrying Yan which would eventually make him the owner of the ramen shop brought a smile to his face. By then, he no longer had to get up early to go to work; he would be his own boss, while she took care of him at home. As such, Li Sihan felt that spending 5,000 was a worthy investment.
After placing the order, Little Bean noticed that Li Sihan did not look unhappy; instead, he was seen reveling in his thoughts. Although puzzled, Little Bean reckoned it was not anything good. “Sir, what’s on your mind?”
The abrupt question posed by Little Bean brought Li Sihan back to his senses. He let out a smile after seeing the clear and dazzling eyes on the kid sitting across the table. “Nothing much. Are you done? Is that enough?”
Little Bean chuckled. “Yes, it is. Thank you, sir.”
“You’re welcome.”
Seeing that the order that he placed did not seem to have any impact on Li Sihan made Little Bean wonder what caused the sudden change of attitude. At this moment, Little Bean’s phone vibrated. He looked down at it and noticed it was a message from Han Qing. ‘Where are you?’
Little Bean’s face lit up as he read this. Oh yeah, Uncle Qing’s finally coming! He quickly closed his chat with Han Qing and switched to the chat with Aunt Yan; he quickly sent her his location. If Aunt Yan makes it here later, Uncle Qing and Aunt Yan will be able to see each other. And when this blind date of Aunt Yan meets Uncle Qing, he’ll know to back off.
After sending his location, Little Bean slowly went back to his chat with Han Qing and replied nonchalantly, ‘Uncle Qing, do you want to come over?’
‘Didn’t you ask me to go over?’
‘Why do you sound reluctant? Maybe I shouldn’t tell you where I am then.’
Right at this point, a car was parked outside the five-star hotel. Inside the car, Han Qing was seen sitting in the back seat, unhappily pursing his lips after reading this text. He then pinched his temples that were slightly hurting. This little brat. Is he trying to make me admit that I want to go there on my own accord? This crafty little brat. Who taught him this? Anyway, when it comes to certain things that I want to do, it’s just a matter of time before I get to do them. Then, Han Qing typed out a reply. ‘I want to come. Are you happy?’
‘Alright, you said so yourself!’
‘Send me the location.’
Finally, Little Bean was happy. He called the server, asked for the cubicle number, and texted it to Han Qing. After the server left, Li Sihan shot him a confusing look. “Is anyone else coming?”
“Yes, sir. I’ve asked my Uncle Qing to come and join us.”
Li Sihan immediately frowned as he heard that, looking slightly annoyed. Unable to suppress his anger, he asked eccentrically, “Why did you do that? Isn’t today about me taking you out for a meal?”
“Yes, it is. But I’ve ordered much more than we can finish. To avoid wasting food, I’ve asked Uncle Qing to join us.”
Li Sihan was rendered speechless. Will we have to add more dishes and spend more money with the addition of another person? Li Sihan could not help but remark, “Little Bean, I’ve only promised to buy you a meal. Your uncle… isn’t included.”
For the sake of a woman, 5,000 was already too much for him as it was money he never intended to spend. But, he forced himself to do it so that he could have a better future. Anything more than this would crush him.
“Ah, sir, please don’t worry. My Uncle Qing is rich, so he won’t let you pay for him. I can even ask him to close the tab.”
Li Sihan was rendered speechless. Little Bean seemed to be suggesting that Li Sihan was poor. He remained silent as he looked increasingly worried.
“Sir, are you Aunt Yan’s boyfriend?” asked Little Bean all of a sudden.
Li Sihan was stunned by the question. Before he could answer with a ‘yes’, he was terrified by the thought of Little Bean telling everyone about it when they got back—like what he did about Li Sihan claiming to be the owner of the shop earlier. He could not let this kid ruin it for him. So, he denied it.
“Not yet, but—”
“That’s good then.” Little Bean placed his hand over his chest, looking frightened. “Things will be easier if you and Aunt Yan aren’t a couple.”
“What do you mean?” Li Sihan immediately sensed that something was not right.
“Because Aunt Yan likes Uncle Qing,” Little Bean added happily, looking all pure and naïve.
This shocked Li Sihan. Does she have someone in mind? Isn’t she single? How could this be? “Little Bean, are you saying that Yan and your Uncle Qing are a couple?”
“Hmm, not yet, but Aunt Yan has liked Uncle Qing for a long time now. They should be together soon. Sir, how do you know Aunt Yan? Why are you helping out in the shop these days? Are you a new staff member hired by Aunt Yan?”
“No!” Li Sihan denied the proposition, almost losing it. “How can I be a staff member?” I’m more like the boss. Staff, my a*s. He did not expect to get cornered by Little Bean.
“If you’re not a staff member, who are you then?”
“I’m your Aunt Yan’s blind date—someone that she’ll marry. Understand? Earlier on, you said that Yan liked your Uncle Qing. Is that true?”
After Little Bean heard him say that he was going to marry Yan, he was shocked and covered his mouth with his hand. After a while, he put his hand down and stuck his tongue out at Li Sihan. “I’m sorry, sir. I misspoke earlier. Actually, Aunt Yan doesn’t like Uncle Qing at all. She never kissed him after she got drunk, and she never lived with him—oops!” All of a sudden, Little Bean put out his hand and covered his mouth again.
“What?!” Li Sihan became mad and frantically frowned as he heard this. Doesn’t this woman have any self-respect? D*mn it! What a shameless woman!
“Sir… I misspoke. I was bluffing earlier,” Little Bean explained, almost crying.
Before Li Sihan could say anything, a callous and indifferent male voice interrupted, “If you know that you’re wrong, apologize properly.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1143
This sudden male voice that came out of nowhere caught the two off guard. They turned around and looked in the direction where the voice came from. Standing at the entrance of the cubicle was Han Qing in his black suit, and on his gorgeous face was a look of restrained anger; he was staring at Little Bean.
Locking his eyes with Han Qing’s callous gaze, Little Bean could feel his anger. He quickly withdrew his neck. Oh no! I think I’ve just made Uncle Qing angry. Someone, please help me!
It was not an accomplished mission for Little Bean yet as Aunt Yan had not come. Though, he had already informed the server to bring Yan over when she arrives. Meanwhile, he was earnestly hoping that Aunt Yan would show up before Uncle Qing’s temper spiraled out of control.
“Uncle Qing.”
After a long wait, Han Qing was finally here. However, now that he showed up, Little Bean was slightly terrified by him. After a shout, Little Bean contracted his neck, hoping that Aunt Yan would quickly appear. As long as Aunt Yan is here, Uncle Qing will forget about me.
Han Qing was not supposed to be here. If Yan was going to marry her blind date, that was her right, and he did not have the authority to interfere in her freedom and right to choose. Despite this being his reasoning, it was difficult for him to carry it out.
After putting down his phone, Han Qing contemplated for a moment. Before he could decide, he was already on his way here. He showed up. Even though he understood well that he might see her with her blind date here, he still… could not help it. He felt an uncontrollable urge to come over.
However, before stepping into the cubicle, Han Qing did not expect to hear those words from Little Bean, which made it seem like Yan was not here. So, after he entered, he confirmed that she was indeed not here. It seemed that he had been tricked by Little Bean.
Han Qing trudged toward Little Bean with his long legs before turning to look at Li Sihan. When the two exchanged looks earlier, Li Sihan felt an invisible pressure resting on him, rendering him paralyzed.
For someone that looked and behaved as well and adorably as Little Bean, Li Sihan was not surprised that he came from a wealthy and influential family. Because of this, Li Sihan had already mentally prepared himself. However, the appearance of Han Qing still caught him off guard. This man in front of him looked exceptional and majestic. He could tell that he was not an ordinary person. How did Yan get involved with this sort of man?
“Hello there,” Han Qing spoke in an indifferent voice while looking at him, “I’m Little Bean’s uncle. Nice to meet you.” He could feel an overwhelming force coming out of him.
Li Sihan stolidly put out his hand for a handshake. “N-Nice to meet you. I’m Li Sihan.”
“Mm-hmm.” After slightly touching his hand, Han Qing retracted his hand and continued slowly, “What Little Bean said earlier wasn’t true—this little brat likes to bluff. I hope you don’t misunderstand.”
“I understand. He’s just a child, and a child says what he thinks. I didn’t take it seriously.”
“If you did, Mr. Li, I can explain it to you.”
“There’s no need for that.” Li Sihan waved his hand somewhat awkwardly. “There’s no need to explain; I believe you. Also, Yan doesn’t seem like that sort of woman; there’s no way she would do things like these. I believe her.”
Han Qing turned and stared at Little Bean with a stern and severe look on his face. “Since you’ve spoken out of turn, please apologize like you mean it.”
Feeling frustrated, Little Bean puckered up his lips. “Uncle Qing…” He attempted to weasel his way out of it without apologizing as he was indeed telling the truth that Yan liked Han Qing as well as the things that she did. He could not understand why Han Qing would try to explain it away and in essence help Yan get together with her blind date. This upset him.
“Apologize!” The look on Han Qing grew increasingly serious and stern.
Fine. Little Bean wussed out and responded reluctantly, “I’m sorry, Mr. Li, for the things that I misspoke earlier. Aunt Yan’s nice to me, so I’ve always wanted her to be my aunt. That’s why I said what I said.”
“No problem. I don’t mind. Please don’t worry about it.”
At this point, the food arrived. Li Sihan broke the awkwardness in the air. “Since you’re here, would you like to take a seat and join us?”
Han Qing took a glance at the food on the table and his gaze fell on the bottle of expensive wine. Then, he turned to Little Bean again. Looking at Han Qing’s stare, Little Bean lowered his head, feeling guilty.
Ah! I’m just trying to help Aunt Yan! If her blind date is poor but still pretends to be rich, isn’t Aunt Yan going to suffer if she eventually marries him?
“You’re too kind, Mr. Li.” After Han Qing said this, he proceeded to sit down.
Just as the three were about to start eating, a female voice came from the outside. “Is it here? Thanks a lot.”
Yan was still catching her breath when she entered the cubicle. She had rushed to the hotel as soon as she saw Little Bean’s message. When she was coming up the stairs, she even quickly checked how much money she had in her digital wallet. This made her want to cry. Gosh, I’m broke as hell. How am I supposed to pay later? Whatever. I might just transfer some from another account first.
Yan felt that even though life was already hard enough, Little Bean did not spare her any worry. After she had arrived at the hotel, she went directly to the cubicle while calling Little Bean’s name. The moment she entered the cubicle, she was stunned by the sight of someone’s figure. Han Qing? Why is he here?
Now, three people were sitting in the cubicle—Han Qing, Little Bean, and her blind date. Yan was mortified at the sight; she opened her lips but could not utter a word. As she assumed that there was going to be only Li Sihan and Little Bean, she had scripted what she was going to say. But now that Han Qing was here, she was rendered speechless. She did not want to see him, nor speak with him; she wanted to have nothing to do with him. But Little Bean…
Yan quickly calmed herself down until her breathing was stabilized before walking up to Li Sihan and sitting next to him. Han Qing looked at her attentively while pursing his lips.
What was happening now annoyed Little Bean. “Aunt Yan, please come and sit next to me!” Pointing at the spot next to him, he turned to Han Qing and commented, “Uncle Qing, please move. I want to sit with Aunt Yan. You can sit on the other side.”
Before Han Qing could react, Yan responded in a callous voice, “It’s fine. I like it this way.” Yan smiled and sounded like she said this deliberately. She continued to explain, “I’d like to introduce Li Sihan to you guys; he’s my blind date. It’s fitting for me to sit next to him in case you guys have any questions to ask us.”
These words pleasantly surprised Li Sihan as it seemed that Yan had approved of him. He then turned to look at her affectionately.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1144
Blind date. Han Qing tightened his fist that was under the table before he brought the teacup to his mouth and took a quick sip. Seeing this, Little Bean was befuddled; he did not understand what Aunt Yan was up to. Doesn’t she like Uncle Qing? Why did she still want to go on a blind date?
Since he was not in a position to say anything, he decided to begin eating silently. Even though he did not come here for the food, all the food on the table would go to waste if no one ate them. Nevertheless, he was still frightened by the way Uncle Qing stared at him earlier when he saw all the food displayed on the table.
While Little Bean was busy eating, the three adults were all deep in thought. Hearing what Yan said about himself, Li Sihan appeared to be particularly aggressive in helping her to the food, making sure that she had enough to eat.
Yan was speechless as she saw this. However, she was annoyed that he was using his chopsticks to pick dishes for her as they had serving chopsticks on the table. Am I shooting myself in the foot? As much as she was reluctant to eat it, she felt it would be a shame if she did not. But she simply did not want to eat anything that had another man’s saliva… It’s disgusting.
When Yan was contemplating this, Little Bean suddenly lifted his head. “Mr. Li, we have serving chopsticks on the table. Why are you using your chopsticks to take food for Aunt Yan?”
Li Sihan explained with a smiley face, “Don’t worry about it. Since Aunt Yan and I are getting married soon, it doesn’t matter if we use the same pair of chopsticks.”
Han Qing responded blandly, “It wouldn’t matter for you two if you’re getting married, but what about other people?”
“Sorry?”
Han Qing pointed to the dishes on the table with his eyes.
“You two are getting married, but we’re in no way related to any of you. Would you be willing to feed on some stranger’s saliva?”
Li Sihan was taken aback by these words. He would never be bothered by this matter before whenever he was with his friends. But now that they were in a five-star hotel, it would seem unfitting for him to ignore this etiquette.
“That’s right, Mr. Li. That’s not very hygienic.” Little Bean took this opportunity to add to it as he was able to tell what Uncle Qing was trying to get at. As much as Uncle Qing looked calm on the outside, his words earlier were targeted at this blind date of Aunt Yan. I can’t miss out on this opportunity.
After hearing what Han Qing said, Yan, who did not plan on eating the food in her bowl that was given by Li Sihan, decided to do something in response. Otherwise, she would appear to dislike Li Sihan. So, she let out a smile and lifted her head, shooting a look at Han Qing and Little Bean. “It’s fine then. If you guys mind, we can split the table and dishes.”
Little Bean quickly responded, “No, Aunt Yan. I love these.”
Yan stared at Little Bean, feeling annoyed. He’s such a foodie. Not being able to reject his request, she responded nicely, “What I meant was that I don’t mind, and Li Sihan didn’t mean to do that—it just slipped his mind. How about this; if we separate the food that he’s touched with his chopsticks, you guys won’t have to touch them then.”
“Huh? Aunt Yan, are you going to touch the food that has his saliva?”
Hearing that, Yan did not know what to say as she began to feel disgusted. We came here to eat; why did things have to turn out this way? As much as she was also disgusted by what Li Sihan did, she could not shoot herself in the foot. At this juncture, she smiled gently. “I’m fine with it. We’re getting married soon anyway.”
“Yan, thank you for not thinking about me in that way.”
As Yan picked up her chopsticks and was about to dig in, Han Qing put his teacup down on the table loudly. The loud noise attracted everyone’s attention.
“Waiter!” he yelled in a callous voice.
The waiter quickly arrived.
“Take away every dish that has been touched and serve the same ones again,” Han Qing instructed coldly.
The server was stunned before realizing what happened and began to take the dishes away. Staring at the full bowl in front of Yan, he then instructed, “Take the one in front of her too.”
Li Sihan was embarrassed. Finally, Yan could no longer take it. She threw her chopsticks at the table. “What’s the meaning of this?”
Looking indifferent and unemotional, Han Qing gently lifted his eyes and raised his eyebrows. “Nothing much. I just can’t stand people that don’t care about hygiene.”
He rarely spoke like that. Yan was annoyed by the fact that these words were unashamedly directed at her blind date.
After he had relentlessly left her, he showed up at this very moment just to insult her blind date. Is there anything wrong with me meeting someone else? Yan was agitated and responded sarcastically, “I’ve told you that you didn’t have to sit with us if you think we’re not being hygienic. Heck! You shouldn’t even eat with us in the same cubicle then. Who knows? Maybe you feel that the air you’re breathing right now isn’t clean either?”
Little Bean was shocked as he heard this. Oh no! Why did they start fighting?
The atmosphere turned intense, and even Li Sihan was surprised by Yan’s reaction. It puzzled him as he wondered why she had to go to this extent even if she was mad.
The server who was standing next to them was bemused. He continued standing there awkwardly, not knowing whether to carry out Han Qing’s instruction or not. In the end, he turned to look at Han Qing. “Sir, what should I do?”
Han Qing responded nonchalantly, “Please carry on.”
No matter how upset Yan was, she could only watch the server take her food away. The more she stared at Han Qing, the more her blood boiled. On the other hand, he ignored her outburst of anger. He even refused to argue with her. He must be really unhappy right now. But… is he unhappy that I’m here? Right. If it wasn’t because of Little Bean, he wouldn’t have come.
Tired of fighting back, Yan fell back in her chair. Soon enough, the server finished replenishing the dishes on the table. At this moment, Li Sihan looked terrified as he had the feeling that he might need to spend more money today. He nibbled his dry lips and asked, “Do we have to pay extra for these new dishes?”
The server looked at him, stunned, and proceeded to nod his head. “Of course.”
Hearing that, Li Sihan looked mortified. Ever since what happened earlier, he felt that he did not need to be polite anymore. So, he followed up, “Could you issue a separate check that’s on him? He was the one that wanted all these dishes to be served again; it has nothing to do with us.”
Surprised, the server turned to look at Han Qing and walked away after the latter nodded.
Yan was clenching her fists tightly under the table. She supposed Han Qing would now look down on Li Sihan even more after he said that. Then, she turned to look at Li Sihan after a moment of silence.
“No worries. Let him do whatever he likes as this meal’s on me. Today, we’re here to treat Little Bean to a meal; it has nothing to do with him.”
Li Sihan was startled as he heard this, but he eventually nodded his head as it was Yan who was going to pay the check.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1145
Even though everyone was at the table, in the beginning, Little Bean was the only person eating. Yan, on the other hand, was so upset that she had lost her appetite. But looking at the calm and indifferent look that Han Qing had on his face throughout, she had the urge to continue arguing with him. This was because she did not have an outlet for her rage. It was like letting out a punch that landed on a ball of cotton—it did not hurt, but it certainly did not feel good.
Because of this, she had not eaten anything. Li Sihan tried asking her to eat, only for her to respond, “Thanks, but I’m not hungry. You can go ahead.”
That was Li Sihan’s intention as he had never tried any of these dishes before. Besides, he paid for these; it would be a waste if they did not finish it. He kept asking Yan to eat so that he could keep up appearances, but she would not eat anything no matter what. In the end, he gave up and began eating by himself.
The other person who had left the chopsticks untouched was Han Qing. From the moment he entered the cubicle, he had only been drinking tea and had not taken a bite of anything on the table. He had a serious look on his face, and his dark and deep eyes made people wonder what was going on. Not knowing how long this meal was going to last, Yan wanted to leave badly.
Little Bean could not stop eating until he was stuffed. He then turned around and looked at Han Qing, who was sitting next to him. “Uncle Qing, I’m full.”
Han Qing coldly threw a glance at him and remained silent, pursing his thin lips.
Not satisfied with the response, Little Bean put his hands over his bloated stomach. “I can’t eat anymore.” This is my first time seeing Uncle Qing this serious. It’s so scary! I want to go home to find Mommy!
Han Qing was clearly unhappy, but seeing the little brat put his soft hands over his bloated stomach caught his attention. He then opened his thin lips. “Don’t force yourself then.” He’s just a kid. Overeating in this manner should teach him a lesson, but if he became sick as a result of this, I don’t know how I’m going to explain to Muzi.
Little Bean let out a sigh of relief after getting Han Qing’s permission to stop eating. Then, he bent over the table. “Thanks, Uncle Qing.” I can finally stop eating! My stomach’s going to blow up if I don’t stop.
Right now, Li Sihan was the only person left eating at the table. He was quite a big eater, and he was loud whenever he chewed and bit food; even though every person had their own eating habits, he should be more wary about this, as this was a public space.
This habit of Li Sihan surprised Yan. However, she was too upset to say anything about it. Everyone ended up waiting for Li Sihan to finish, up until Little Bean questioned, “Mr. Li, are you very hungry?”
This made Li Sihan realize that he was too deep into eating. He paused awkwardly and wiped his mouth with a napkin before flashing a proper smile across his face. “I’m not hungry. I just don’t want to waste food.”
Uh-huh. Not wanting to waste food is a good virtue to have. Little Bean was fine with that.
When the server came in with the check, Li Sihan shouted immediately, “It’s on me!”
While Yan was borrowing money for her digital wallet, she saw that the bottle of red wine was already opened and figured that it was now too late to return it. She reckoned that this meal should be expensive. Thankfully, she now had enough on her digital wallet. No matter what, she did not want Han Qing to pay for this meal.
However, before she could finish the transaction, Li Sihan stood up unexpectedly, looking generous and tenacious. Little Bean blinked and smiled at Li Sihan. “Thanks, Mr. Li, for the treat.”
“You’re welcome. It’s nothing. How much is it?”
Li Sihan was stunned for a moment when the server told him the total amount. “W-What did you say?”
“Sir, the total for today is 38,688.”
Li Sihan asked, “Isn’t the minimum spending 5,000? Where did the other 30,000 come from?”
“Sir, this bottle of red wine costs around 30,000.”
Li Sihan retorted, “When did we have a bottle of red wine? How did I not know about this?” He glanced over and saw a bottle of red wine on the table that looked extremely pricey. What sort of red wine is this? Why is it so expensive? How am I supposed to come up with over 30,000? He began to look terrified as he remembered the fact that he did not have a lot of savings.
“Can you take back the red wine? We didn’t even drink it.”
“I’m sorry, sir. Once the bottle is opened, there’s no way you can return it.”
“Why not? We didn’t even drink it. You… can just take it back and reseal it.”
“I’m afraid we can’t do this, sir—”
Just as the two were arguing, a lean hand came with a credit card. “Please.”
After getting the credit card, the server quickly left.
“W-What are you… Didn’t I say that it’s on me?” Seeing Han Qing pay for it, Li Sihan felt instantly agitated and began trying to save his face. “None of us has touched the red wine. Isn’t it a waste of money? We shouldn’t be fooled by them.”
Han Qing explained blandly, “Once the bottle is opened, there’s no way we can return it. No matter how much you argue with him, we’ll still have to pay for it.”
Li Sihan was rendered speechless.
“That’s right, Mr. Li. Thanks for the treat today. It’s the thought that counts!”
These words sounded sarcastic and malicious to Li Sihan as he looked at Little Bean.
In a short while, Yan managed to transfer 40,000 to Little Bean’s WeChat account on his phone. She then lifted her head and told Little Bean, “Little Bean, I’ve just transferred the money for this meal to your WeChat account. Please check if you’ve received it and pay Uncle Qing for me later.”
Yan’s words saved Li Sihan, who responded to her, “Let me pay for it. I’ll transfer the money to you when we get back later.”
At this point, all Yan wanted to do was leave. She casually nodded and replied, “The shop needs me right now, so I’m leaving.”
Then, Li Sihan took Yan with him and left. After that, Little Bean turned to look at Han Qing, looking annoyed. “Uncle Qing, why are you not stopping Aunt Yan?”
Han Qing paused. Stop? With what? She’s gone on a blind date and is now seen everywhere with another man. What right do I have to stop her? After he took the last sip of the tea, he placed the empty cup on the table. “This is stupid. Don’t ever do this again.”
Dissatisfied, Little Bean commented, “How is this stupid? That man has an ulterior motive in being with Aunt Yan. Besides, Aunt Yan likes you. Why does she want to be with someone else?”
Han Qing kept quiet, so Little Bean added, “Uncle Qing, you shouldn’t have denied it. Then, the bad guy would have left Aunt Yan alone.”
“Then what?” Han Qing gave him a faint look. “So that when he’s out of the picture, he can go around spreading nonsense to ruin your Aunt Yan’s reputation?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1146
Little Bean was dumbfounded. He only thought of getting rid of the man who was with Yan, but he did not think of the consequences. If that man had gotten flustered and left because of me, he could have spread rumors and ended up ruining Aunt Yan’s reputation. Well, it was not that it did not cross Little Bean’s mind. Why did it matter what other people say anyway? We’re all living our own lives. Besides, Aunt Yan likes Uncle Qing, so only his opinion matters to her.
Little Bean argued, “Aunt Yan is not the kind of person who would be bothered by other people’s opinions.”
“What about her parents?”
Little Bean was speechless. Han Qing grabbed the keys and stood up. “Do you understand now? Let’s go. Don’t make another scene in the future. If this happens again, I’ll send you straight to your father and let him teach you a lesson.” You’ll see how petty I can get.
Little Bean reluctantly followed Han Qing out. Still feeling angry, he said, “Uncle Qing, you have to believe me. That man does not have good intentions. When I went to the shop just now, he told me the shop was his.”
Finally, Han Qing paused and narrowed his eyes. “Is what you’re saying true?”
“It’s true, Uncle Qing. That’s why I don’t like him. He and Aunt Yan aren’t married yet, but he claimed the ramen restaurant was his. We all know the ramen restaurant is Aunt Yan’s blood, sweat, and tears.”
Han Qing did not continue the conversation, but he had a plan in mind. “Okay, I’ll deal with this. Don’t interfere.”
After Han Qing returned to the company, he called Su Jiu over and had her look into someone. She did not know who she was looking into at first. But after some clarification, she came to know the reason, and she could not help but tease, “President Han, have you finally thought it through?”
He looked at her indifferently. Su Jiu then joked, “Am I not allowed to ask? Alright then. I’ll look into it and get back to you soon.”
…
When Yan returned to the ramen restaurant, she was still very down. Li Sihan tried to butter her up many times but she either ignored him or pretended she did not hear him. In the end, he became discouraged. “Are you blaming me for not being able to pay for that meal?”
At that moment, Yan realized she had gone slightly overboard. She explained, “No, it’s got nothing to do with you. I was just tired when I went out earlier. I also told you before that you and Little Bean are not related in any way, so it was not your responsibility to buy him food. It was only right that I paid for the meal.”
“Then, is your budget still okay? That meal was so expensive. You—”
“It’s fine.” Yan smiled slightly. “I have my own shop and earn a daily income. You don’t have to worry.”
Li Sihan thought, She is rich. The person who introduced me to her was right. Yan is a rich woman.
“Why don’t you go home for the day?” Yan did not feel comfortable as it was getting late, so she sent him home early to rest.
Despite feeling bummed, he nodded his head. “Okay. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Sure. Drive safely.”
She waited until he left before she crumbled down. I didn’t make any money, yet I’ve already spent several tens of thousands. It hurts just to think about it. She suddenly regretted not bringing back that bottle of red wine before they left. After all, that bottle cost 30,000. I already paid for it, but I didn’t bring it with me. Am I retarded? The more she thought about it, the more upset she felt.
After they closed the shop that night, Yan and Luo Huimei were getting ready to go home together. When they walked out, they happened to see Han Qing’s car parked not too far away from them, and saw him standing next to it. His tall figure was standing in perfect posture and his handsome face attracted the attention of many passers-by.
Luo Huimei was stunned to see him. She turned to look at Yan. Something did not look right when Yan came back today, she thought. Something probably happened. But seeing that handsome man there, she quickly made sense of what had happened that day.
Meanwhile, Han Qing spotted them and strode forward; he stopped right in front of them. “Hello, Aunty. We meet again.”
Although Luo Huimei felt a little awkward, she still smiled at him politely. “Yes. Are you looking for Yan?”
He smirked and nodded. “There are some private matters I need to discuss with her.”
“Sure. You two can talk. I’ll go wait at the side.”
“Mom! Don’t go. I don’t have anything to say to him.”
“Yan, I told you last time that if there is a problem, you need to settle it. Even if you go your separate ways in the future, you still have to resolve the current problems. Isn’t that right? Be more civil. You are my daughter. If he dares to bully you, I won’t let him off the hook, either.”
Yan could not respond.
“Okay, then. You young people can go and talk. I’ll head home first. I hope you’ll bring my daughter back home safely later.”
Han Qing nodded. “I will, Aunty.”
When Luo Huimei left, Yan just stood where she was. She blinked a few times and took a deep breath. “I already paid for the meal, and I also made it clear that I won’t get involved with you anymore. What more do you want?” Her tone was impatient and weary, and she did not bother to take another look at him.
He was slightly frustrated as he pursed his lips tightly. “I know. But I think there is something you need to know.”
Yan looked up and stared at him. “What do you want to say?”
“Let’s talk in the car,” he suggested. There were a lot of passersby in the area, and they were shooting glances at them from time to time. He did not like to have a conversation in that kind of atmosphere. More importantly, he wanted to calm Yan down.
“Talk in the car?” She glanced at the car behind him and gave a mocking expression, “I’m not sure if that’s okay, President Han. After all, I’m such an unhygienic person. I’ve worked at the ramen restaurant all day, and I’m dirty and stinky. If I get in your car, won’t I be polluting it? I think I better not.”
Those words were unpleasant to hear and made him unhappy. “Do you have to say it like that?”
“Then, how do you want me to say it?” Yan smiled. She took two steps back and looked at him with a curious gaze. “Should I sugar coat my words instead? Is that what you prefer to hear?”
He pursed his lips. A fierce look appeared on his face, and his presence became grim. He did not think the situation from that night would turn out that way. Was it unsalvageable? “That night, I—”
“President Han, if you’re trying to explain the situation from that night, then there’s no need to. I completely understand. I don’t want to bother you anymore!” She took several more steps back and covered her ears to show that she did not want to hear his explanation at all.
Alas, a scene like that had reappeared. It was ridiculous to see the great Han Group’s president with his hands tied because of one young lady.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1147
She’s not willing to listen to my explanation about that night. I won’t talk about it then. But there is something she still needs to know.
Stepping forward, Han Qing grabbed Yan’s wrist and started pulling her toward his car without giving her any time to react. His strong grip on her hand was hurting her a fair bit. She struggled, but his iron grip made it impossible for her to break free.
Very quickly, he pulled her to his car. When she saw him open the door, she stood there and was reluctant to go in.
“Do you still not want to know even if it’s about that person you went on a blind date with?”
That person I went on a blind date with? Li Sihan? She frowned as she looked at him. “What do you mean by that?”
“Get in the car if you want to find out.”
Is he threatening me? Yan stared at him with her big eyes. After thinking for a moment, she got in the car. What’s the big deal? Who’s scared of whom?
When she was finally in the car, he let out a sigh and got in the driver’s seat too. Once they were both inside, Yan sat still in her seat, sulking. She ignored him even when he told her to put on her seatbelt, so he did not have a choice but to put it on for her.
But just as his hand crossed in front of her, she spat out, “What about Li Sihan? Hurry up and tell me now. I’ll get out of the car once I hear it, so you don’t have to put on my seatbelt for me.”
When she finished speaking, his hand was already on the seatbelt. His icy gaze fell on her and, with an even colder tone, he said, “I promised your mother I would get you home safely.”
“That’s your promise, not mine.” Not wanting to see him, she turned away with eyes full of detest. “If you have something to say, then say it. If you don’t, then I’ll leave now.”
Her attitude put him at a loss. His tone softened. “You’re really not putting on your seatbelt or letting me take you home?”
She was stubborn and adamant. “Yes.”
The inside of the car fell silent. He did not see a way to convince her, so he just pulled his hand back. A moment later, he handed her a piece of document. When Yan heard the sound of paper rustling, she looked over and saw that he had handed her a document. She started to feel perplexed.
“What is this?” she questioned instead of taking the piece of paper. What does this have to do with Li Sihan?
“It’s Li Sihan’s information.”
“You looked into him?”
Han Qing glanced at her then looked away as he said, “Do you even know what kind of person he is? Or what he did? Shouldn’t you have known before you started dating him?”
His words… It was true that Yan did not know much about Li Sihan. It was only because Mrs. Zhang had introduced him to her, and because she was sulking at the time, that she decided to go on a blind date with him. However, it did not mean that she was going to marry him. If she did not have any feelings for him when they dated, then she would end it. Besides, people usually got to know each other slowly as they dated.
She looked at him coldly. “Of course I do. Why would I meet him if I didn’t know? Is there anything more this document can tell me?”
Han Qing was speechless. Yan loathed him indeed. She was even lying because of her anger toward him. If she knew the truth, why did she still go and meet the guy? Furthermore, her parents would not have allowed it either.
Nonetheless, she had no intention of looking at the document. Han Qing pursed his lips and simply said, “Did you know that he has been to prison before because he conned a woman of her money?”
That caught Yan off guard, and she was stunned. “What did you say?”
Went to prison? Yan did not see that coming. Even though she did feel like something was off about Li Sihan, she did not think that he was someone who had committed a crime and went to prison for it. She did not even consider that possibility. But now that Han Qing broke the news to her, she was dumbfounded and felt her face start to burn up. She did not know much about her date and actually had to hear this from Han Qing.
Lookie there, your date has such poor character but you still treat him so preciously. For the sake of getting on Han Qing’s bad side, you dated someone you didn’t know anything about. How ridiculous of you, Yan!
Her hands that were on her thighs tightened even more. Her mind had stopped working, and she was not able to get herself out of the situation. No matter what Han Qing did from that point on, she would find herself extremely ridiculous.
“Little Bean was the first one who noticed something was not right. For safety reasons, I felt like there was a need to look into him.” His manly voice resounded in the car. To Yan, it seemed like an act of charity. She clenched and unclenched her fists a few times before finally looking up at Han Qing. “So?”
Without saying a word, Han Qing pursed his lips and looked at her as he waited for her to continue.
“So what if he’s been to prison before?”
He frowned. “Do you know what you’re saying?”
“Of course I do.” Yan smiled at him. She quickly leaned into him until their eyes, noses, and breaths were extremely close to each other. With a taunting expression, she went on, “Are you trying to tell me that even Little Bean sensed something, but I didn’t? That I’m so stupid that I can’t get any worse than this?”
Seeing Yan up close like that, Han Qing did not know what he was feeling. When she suddenly leaned into him, he felt the bottom of his heart quiver slightly. But when she said those taunting words, the little bit of emotion he had was wiped clean. He, who was always reserved, was wavering because of one young lady.
“You know that’s not what I meant.”
“I’m not interested in what you meant. Didn’t I tell you before? I won’t get involved with you from now on. I also told you not to look for me anymore because I don’t want to see you.” Each one of her words pierced into Han Qing’s heart.
“And one more thing. Even if my partner has gone to prison before, that is still my problem. Since I don’t want to see you now, that means my problems have nothing to do with you. You don’t have to care. Even if I meet a murderer in the future, that has not the tiniest bit to do with you.” The more she spoke, the colder her smile turned. He’s funny. He obviously doesn’t like me, and even hates me, but he still went and did something like this. What is up with him? Was it an act of pity? Do I look like a beggar to him? Someone who would run to him at his command and hide in a corner if he pushes me away?
It was only now that she realized how short-tempered and petty she was. She was not the least bit capable of dealing with all of this.
“Don’t be stubborn.” Han Qing frowned as he listened to her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1148
I did not expect her to be this stubborn. A murderer? Does she not know how serious this is? People only get married once in their lives. It will be really foolish if she gave her happiness to someone so untrustworthy just because she feels wronged.
“Yes, I’m the most stubborn person ever, and I’ve never once been considerate of others. Are you happy now?” At the moment, Yan was in total defiance of Han Qing, so her words were exceptionally impulsive.
When she did not want to be around him any longer, she turned to open the car door and leave. But as she reached for it, Han Qing grabbed onto her slender wrist. He leaned forward and pulled her wrist toward him while placing his other hand between her and the car door—he was not letting her leave.
“What are you doing? Let me go.” She struggled to free her hand, but his grip was too strong. No matter how hard she tried, she was not able to help herself. Nevertheless, Yan did not give up. She kept trying and struggling, wanting to run away from him.
Meanwhile, Han Qing quickly locked the door then let go of her. When she failed to open the door after several attempts, she glared at him. “What are you trying to do?”
“I promised your mother that I will bring you back safely.” After learning that the man had been to prison before, Han Qing felt like Yan was in a dangerous situation. Who knows what will happen if the two of them continue to meet each other?
However, she was too agitated at the moment. Regardless of what he did or said, it would make her angry. “I told you that was a promise you made. I didn’t promise anything. Open the car door and let me out.”
The car engine started in response. Then, the car moved quietly through the night on the empty road. Compared to the serenity outside, Yan was boiling with anger on the inside. She did not know how things turned out that way. She had gone berserk and lost control of herself. She closed her eyes and placed herself as far away as she could from him. If he wants to drop me off, then he can drop me off. Besides, after tonight, I’ll treat him as a stranger no matter what he does. This is the last straw.
On the other hand, Han Qing found it strange when she became quiet all of a sudden. They were silent throughout the drive back to her house. When the car stopped, she immediately got out of the car but found that he still had the car door locked. She taunted, “What? Are you not planning on letting me leave, President Han? Are you not willing to let me go?”
He was speechless. The stark difference in her attitude was hard for him to wrap his head around. He advised, “I’m not trying to stick my nose in your business, but I just don’t want you to get hurt. Stop being involved with him.”
“I’ve arrived home, President Han. You’ve kept your promise. Can you open the door now?”
It seemed like there was nothing more he could say. Once he unlocked the doors, she immediately got out of the car and went up the stairs.
Luo Huimei quickly went to welcome Yan back once she got home, but Yan did not say a word and went straight into the bedroom. Without even taking a shower, she dove into the covers and let the tears fall silently on her blanket.
…
The next day, Li Sihan showed up at the shop again after he got off work. After what happened the day before, Yan saw Li Sihan in a different light now. She did not think that Mrs. Zhang would be so unreliable to introduce to her someone with such issues. Still, Yan had yet to decide whether to tell Luo Huimei about Li Sihan’s history in prison. Should I just make things clear with Li Sihan?
With that thought in mind, she walked right up to him and said, “Do you have time tonight?”
Li Sihan was dumbfounded. He nodded his head. “Yes. Why?”
“You come to the shop every day to help out. It makes me feel rather apologetic so I want to buy you a meal tonight. I also have some things to tell you. Are you okay with that?”
The moment he heard her say that, he assumed that she wanted to discuss their marriage plans and instantly nodded his head.
When the evening came, Yan informed Luo Huimei before going off with Li Sihan. Mr. Zhou was still sitting in his chair and drinking tea when both of them left. Looking at the pair, he touched his chin with a pleased look on his face.
“What are you smiling about?” Luo Huimei sat down next to him and stared at him with an unsatisfied expression.
Mr. Zhou smiled happily. “I was just thinking. Yan should be getting married soon, right?”
“Does it look like Yan wants to get married? There’s no spark between them at all. Can’t you tell?”
He was slightly taken aback. “Really? Aren’t they at a good spot?”
“They are. But don’t you think she’s being extra polite to him? Like how she usually treats the customers who come to eat ramen.”
He pondered for a moment then realized that Luo Huimei had a point.
…
After they left, Yan and Li Sihan took a taxi and went to a nearby western restaurant. She planned to make things clear with him so she just found any western restaurant. Meanwhile, her mind was occupied with how to approach the subject without hurting his self-esteem. She was so occupied that she did not realize the silver Bentley that slowly followed behind them not long after they got in the taxi.
Inside the western restaurant, they sat opposite each other.
“The atmosphere here is quite decent.” Looking over the prices on the menu, he felt conflicted. “But it’s a bit expensive.”
Yan replied casually, “Don’t worry. I told you it’s my treat today so I’ll get the bill.”
He was waiting for Yan to say that but he did not let it show. “How can I, as a man, let a woman get the bill? That’s not very gentlemanlike at all.”
“It’s fine.” Because there won’t be a next time after this.
When their food arrived, Yan still did not have much of an appetite. She looked in front of her at Li Sihan and started slowly, “Thank you for all your help during this time. But I feel like I should be open with you about something.”
“Sure. Go ahead.”
“You’re a great person, and you’re hard-working too. My parents really like you as well. Do I even need to mention Mrs. Zhang? She just can’t seem to stop praising you.”
Her words made his chest puff out. This woman thinks highly of me. Are my plans going to come true? Once I marry a worthy wife who owns a ramen restaurant, I just have to wait to receive money in the future and let this woman do all the work. Sounds good to me.
However, the conversation suddenly took a turn. “But I feel like you’re not right for me. So…”
At that moment, his expression changed drastically. “What did you say? I’m not right for you? How? Am I not good enough?”
“No, you’re really good. But marriage is forever, so I feel like we should all be more careful about it.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1149
Li Sihan finally understood why Yan had unexpectedly invited him out for dinner. It turned out that she had decided to put all her cards on the table. His expression turned sour. “Careful? Hasn’t everything been going well?”
“Yeah, but…” Yan did not know how to explain and simply told him, “I’m sorry, Mr. Li, but this is just part of dating. If it doesn’t feel right, then we should end it right away.” She did not want to beat around the bush and decided to be straightforward with him so that he would understand.
Li Sihan lost his desire to eat. His perfect dream had crumbled in a matter of seconds. A moment ago, he was just thinking of how he would live the rest of his days without a care in the world. Who knew she would end things with him instead? “Is it because of that guy from yesterday?”
Her expression changed. She shook her head and denied, “No.”
“No? Then why does it seem like it to me? The both of you were shooting glances at each other at the table in front of me yesterday. Did you think I wouldn’t notice? You just met him yesterday, and now you’re saying you want to end it with me. Are you still denying it?”
Yan did not respond.
“Here, I’ll tell you what. I’ll forget about whatever happened between the two of you. Let’s find an auspicious date to register our marriage and have the wedding.”
Register our marriage? Her face turned pale and she rejected his proposal, “Sorry, I don’t like you. I can’t marry you.”
Regardless of what he said, she was still adamant about ending things with him. Seeing his perfect dream shatter and be rendered hopeless, he immediately became flustered. “I guess what Little Bean said was true. You were living with that man even before getting married. I’ve seen many gold diggers like you who run to rich men the moment you lay eyes on them. You were holding onto your rich husband while keeping me as a backup. You’re so cheap, Zhou Xiaoyan.” His voice was loud and it attracted the attention of many around them. Almost everyone was looking at them.
Yan froze in her spot, but she quickly realized that he was flustered and was trying to embarrass her. Nevertheless, he had underestimated her level of tolerance. Except for the people that she cared about, she did not mind even if everyone else looked at her strangely. She grabbed her purse and got up. “Anyway, I’ve made things clear with you. I apologize. I still have business to attend to at the shop so I’ll get going now.”
She walked straight to the counter and got the check. Once she was out of the restaurant, she was going to call for a taxi when Li Sihan suddenly rushed over and grabbed her wrist and pulled her to a corner. “You wench! How dare you cheat on me? We’ll see how I deal with you today.”
The guy in glasses who looked reserved and put together before was now gone. At that moment, Li Sihan looked like a wild beast. With red eyes, he dragged her to a secluded area.
“Let me go! What are you doing? Help—”
Slap! Just as she screamed, a slap went across her face then he put a hand over her mouth. “You still dare to scream?” After he scolded her, he looked at the people around them and shouted, “What are you looking at? You’ve never seen a husband hit his wife? This woman cheated on me. So what if I teach her a lesson?”
Even though there were many curious onlookers, they were too afraid to do anything and went away as soon as they heard him. After that, Yan was dragged to the side into a small alley.
“You wench. I should’ve known you were a woman with no morals. Why did I even bother to put up an act? I’ll just get you pregnant and see if you’re still unwilling to marry me then.” Immediately, he tugged at her hand and tore her clothes off, ignoring her attempts to fight back. When he saw her snow-white skin before him, a look of yearning flashed across his eyes and he growled before lunging at her.
“No! Let go of me—” She became desperate as she realized she was not able to overcome his strength.
Thud! The next moment, he was flung to the back, and his body hit against the wall that was not too far away. He let out a groan then fell to the ground. Han Qing had appeared out of nowhere and sent Li Sihan flying with just one kick.
Unable to get up from the pain, Li Sihan lay on the ground and cradled his own body as he cried out. However, that was not enough to satisfy Han Qing. His presence was menacing as he took one step after the other toward Li Sihan. “Do you want to die?” he asked and stepped on Li Sihan’s fingers forcefully.
After Li Sihan let out a blood-curdling scream, he realized the hand Han Qing was stepping on was also the same hand he used to tear off Yan’s clothes earlier. Looking at the terrifying man in front of him, Li Sihan eventually realized that he had messed with someone out of his league and quickly begged for mercy, “I’ve made a mistake. Please show me mercy. I’ve made a mistake. I was wrong. Please spare my life. If I die, you’ll have to pay for it too.”
In reply, he got an excruciating pain in his other hand too. Han Qing must have broken something, as Li Sihan ended up losing consciousness.
Yan was shocked senseless, but she was still able to think. She squatted down after being saved then soon realized the person who saved her was Han Qing. She did not expect him to have done all of that. It was the first time she had seen him that way. He was supercilious and his presence was nothing but hostile. He looked like he was about to take Li Sihan’s life as he did not stop even after Li Sihan had passed out.
It was Li Sihan’s last sentence, ‘If I die, you’ll have to pay for it too’, that brought Yan back to her senses. She selflessly rushed forward and pulled Han Qing back. “Stop hitting him. If you keep hitting him, he might actually die.”
“He deserves to die.”
Han Qing went on as Yan tried with all her might to pull him back. When she was not able to do so, she collapsed and cried, “Stop hitting him. I don’t want you to go to prison!”
Her cries brought Han Qing back to his senses. He stood where he was and stopped what he was doing. Then, he slowly turned around and saw Yan crying uncontrollably. His grim expression was filled with restraint. “Okay. I won’t.” He then took off his blazer and wrapped it around her tightly.
Since she had sobbed so hard, she was unable to stop her tears from flowing. As she hyperventilated, Han Qing bent down and wiped her tears away. He looked at her red eyes and swollen face for a while, then proceeded to carry her in both of his arms.
Once she was placed gently in the car, she reached out to grab his sleeve. “Um… Is he going to die?”
Han Qing turned cold. “He won’t.”
“Really? Should we at least call an ambulance for him?”
Han Qing looked at Yan who was still sobbing. “I-I’m just worried…”
“I know what you’re worried about. I’ll get someone to deal with this.”
After Yan was reassured, she felt at ease.
“Let’s get you to the hospital.”
“No, I don’t want to go to the hospital.” She shook her head violently then looked at him with her red eyes. “I-I’m not in pain. I don’t need to go to the hospital.” She did not ever want anyone to see her in that messy state with her clothes all torn off.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1150
Yan looked sorrowful in her current state. With her messy hair, swelled up cheek, tear stains, and his blazer over her, she looked like she had been through a great ordeal.
“What about your wounds?” Han Qing lowered his voice and asked gently.
“I’m not going to the hospital no matter what. I don’t want to go home either.” She buried herself in her knees and said through a muffled voice, “Just drop me off at a hotel.”
He was speechless. What nonsense is she talking about? Even if I don’t take her to the hospital, I can’t take her to a hotel in this current situation. After contemplating for a bit, he brought her straight to his house. It was not the Han residence where he usually lived; it was his private residence where there were no housekeepers. Yan felt perplexed when she got out of the car. “Where is this place?”
“My house.” Then, he proceeded to carry her in his arms again and headed inside. Yan let him carry her and felt his breath next to her. Just yesterday, she decided never to see him again. But today, he showed up at her most desperate moment and saved her. He made her feel safe and secure. Unable to help herself, she slowly burrowed herself in his embrace.
He came to a slight halt and glanced down at her. He also felt the change in her but took it to mean that she was scared. Curling his arms around her tighter, he had an obscure tenderness in his deep voice as he said, “Don’t be scared. This won’t happen again.”
At the reminder of what happened, she started to feel a sense of fear. What would have happened to her tonight if Han Qing did not show up to save her? She shuddered involuntarily when she thought of all the different possibilities.
He carried her up the stairs then carefully put her down on the cushiony sofa. “Wait for me here.”
When he turned around to leave, she quickly grabbed onto his sleeve. “Don’t go.” She found the emptiness of the spacious room slightly eerie.
Seeing her like that, his gaze deepened, and he said gently, “I’m just going to get the first-aid kit. I’ll be back in a minute.”
A minute? She looked at him doubtfully with an expression that said, ‘Really?’.
He nodded. “Very soon.”
“Okay, then hurry back,” she said, then reluctantly let go of his sleeve so he could go get the first-aid kit. When he left, Yan lowered her head and realized her white shoes had dark stains on them. It was rather abrupt which led her to think of her appearance earlier. Just like the pair of white shoes, she was tainted by Li Sihan. I must be so dirty right now. She remembered how Li Sihan grabbed her arm and tore off her clothes. He even grazed over my shoulder and skin…
The scene automatically popped up in her head and got more intense. She cried out in fear. Quickly getting up, she ran out and bumped into Han Qing’s embrace.
“What—” Before he finished speaking, she took several steps away from him like she was avoiding the plague. He had a first-aid kit in his hand to treat her wounds. He had gone and came back almost immediately. But once he returned, he realized that Yan did not look right. I was just away for a moment. Why is she like this now? He took a tentative step toward her.
“Don’t come close!” Yan cried and took a big step back. She glared at him with a detested look. “Why did you save me? Didn’t I say I didn’t want to cling to you anymore? Didn’t I tell you not to show up anymore? Why did you still save me?”
He pursed his lips and his eyes turned cold. “Who was going to save you if I hadn’t?”
She lowered her gaze. “It could’ve been anyone. Why you? Why did you have to see me in this disheveled state? I’m… so dirty.” She bit her bottom lip and tried to push out the disgusting scenes that were filling her mind. But the harder she tried, the more it worked against her.
Han Qing frowned as he looked at her. Is it because she’s emotionally unstable right now? If only I had known she would be like this in that short moment that I was gone, I would have just kept her by my side the whole time.
“I’m so, so dirty now. You never liked me before, but you probably think I’m disgusting now, right?” She turned gloomy. “If I knew this would happen, I would have rather been raped, so you didn’t have to save me.”
Initially, his heart was hurting for her. But after hearing that last sentence, he was rendered speechless. He narrowed his eyes at her. Would have rather been raped? So that I didn’t have to save her? He wanted to go over and look into her brain to see what was in it. However, she was crying in sorrow and her lips were also red. She looked exceptionally pitiful.
He closed his eyes. When he opened them again, it was clear that he had made a decision. “With my personality, I prefer not to do this in this situation. But…” With that, he took big strides toward her. Pinching her chin and forcing her head up, he bent down and kissed her.
“Mmph.” Yan completely froze. Her eyes widened in astonishment. At that moment, those dirty and disgusting thoughts instantly disappeared from her mind. Her mind became blank and she could not remember a thing, except for the peculiar feeling she felt then. It was the temperature on her lips. When he first kissed her, his lips felt cold. But it gradually grew warmer until it was almost burning her.
She quivered in shock and lost her strength as she fell back. However, his big hand grabbed her waist. He seized the opportunity and pulled her into his big and warm embrace. The kiss did not end but only deepened. The world was spinning around them, and they lost track of time.
Time flew by. Yan did not close her eyes once from the start to the end of the kiss. When Han Qing pulled back, she still stood there stupefied and stared blankly at him. He lifted his forehead off her slightly then put it back down after some thought. It was probably because of the kiss that his voice turned raspy and even possessed a trace of longing. A kiss that was hammered into her heart. “Do you still feel dirty now?”
She only saw his handsome face and felt his breath along with the warmth on her lips. How could she have thought of whether she felt dirty or not?
Seeing her reaction, he knew that he had made the right decision. But he also realized something serious—he was unable to restrain himself and had kissed her for so long. He only wanted to give her a peck to put her heart at ease, and also to tell her that she was not dirty. But the moment he kissed her, he lost control. I must have been out of my mind to kiss her for that long when she just came back from experiencing something so traumatic.
That gave him a headache. He pursed his lips then slowly said, “Why don’t you take a shower first?”
