“You are overthinking. Demoting her was just to hide from the others. Qi is my wife, and I won’t let anyone bully her,” Ye Moxuan sneered. With that, he spun his wheelchair around and moved to Shen Qi, who was still holding the document in her hands. “Qi, am I right?”

“Huh?” Before Shen Qi could react, she felt something on her waist; Ye Moxuan had encircled her waist and was holding her in his arms. Hence, she couldn’t control her body and fell into Ye Moxuan’s embrace.

Ye Linhan’s fists clenched tighter unconsciously, and he showed signs of anger between his brows when he saw this.

“It seems like you’re pretty enthusiastic today, my dear wife, and you even hugged me voluntarily. Since that’s the case… I shouldn’t let you down.”

Before Shen Qi could react to what Ye Moxuan was going to do, he grabbed her chin and kissed her. As their lips touched, Shen Qi’s pupils shrank, and she forgot to struggle.

“Mad?” Shen Qi looked up at her. Han Xueyou dressed herself up, but it wasn’t the same outfit she was wearing in the afternoon. She was wearing a pink dress with a round collar, showing her slender neck. Shen Qi observed her quietly and looked down. “Why should I be mad?”

“Qi, did you believe the video Yan sent you?” Han Xueyou bit her lips. “You can’t believe her. She never liked me from the first time we met and always looked at me in a strange way. She even said that I wanted to seduce Young Master Ye. I am your best friend. So why would I do that?” She said quite a lot, but Shen Qi just remained quiet.

“Qi, say something. Did you really believe in her words? We are best friends. If you don’t believe me, I can swear to God!”

Swear to God… Shen Qi’s eyes flickered before she looked at Han Xueyou.

Han Xueyou paused for a while and looked up again. “I swear to God, I never wanted to seduce—”

“What did you talk about with Ye Moxuan?” Shen Qi suddenly spoke and interjected her. Han Xueyou pouted, and her voice softened. “N-Nothing much.”

“Weren’t you talking about work? How is that nothing?” Shen Qi knew her tone sounded as if she was suspicious, but this was a question she had from the bottom of her heart. She wanted to know exactly what her best friend’s intentions were.

“Qi, you’re saying so because… you believed in Yan’s words. You are doubting me, aren’t you?”

Shen Qi took a deep breath. “Why would you think so? Is there a problem to ask what you talked about? Aren’t we best friends who tell each other everything? I can’t know what you talked about, is that what you’re saying?”

“Qi, I…”

Shen Qi looked at her fixedly, and Han Xueyou’s eyes reddened immediately. Her tears then started dropping, startling Shen Qi. “I thought you would believe me no matter what. With that, Shen Qi picked her bag up and left hurriedly.

Han Xueyou was stunned as she stared at Shen Qi’s back for several seconds before she snapped back to her senses. She then wiped the tears away from her cheeks and went after Shen Qi in a hurry. “Qi, don’t be angry. Can you please listen to me?”

If I don’t care so much and look at things with a neutral stance, maybe Ye Moxuan and I would be able to spend the rest of our time together as an ordinary couple.

Hence, Shen Qi understood that it was better to interact with Ye Moxuan calmly instead of being calculative.

Shen Qi understood the key for a stable relationship, but Ye Moxuan was confused by her actions.

However, he wondered if he merely imagined it, and so he shook his head to clear his mind before asking Shen Qi, “Second Young Lady, are you truly calm and steady, or is this just a superficial pretense?”

Shen Qi asked, “Xiao Su, what are you trying to say?”

Xiao Su raised both his hands up while explaining himself hastily after hearing her say that. “Nothing. I was just trying to remind you, Second Young Lady. Young Master Ye… treats you very differently than others, and I also hope that the two of you would be together. That is why—”

Silence followed, and Ye Moxuan emitted an intimidating and cold aura around him. “Damn it, Miss Second-marriage, how dare you make me wait?”

Shen Qi’s expression soured slightly. “Young Master Ye, I—Ah!”

Before she could complete her sentence, he gripped her wrist violently, and the next thing she knew, Ye Moxuan had yanked her down into his arms. He held her chin steady and started kissing her passionately.

“Uh…” Shen Qi was leaning against him while seated on his lap, and she was shrouded by Ye Moxuan’s dominance and masculinity.

He attacked her mouth with his tongue and lips mercilessly. Ye Moxuan’s kiss was aggressive, and he seemed to be determined to mark her as his. He was inhaling her sweet scent greedily while making her breath hitch.

She wanted to struggle, but she could barely move an inch, and so she had no choice but to surrender to him.

After several minutes, Ye Moxuan retreated suddenly. Then, he pinched her chin while staring ferociously at her ruby red lips.

“Are you forgetting who you are just because I haven’t done anything to you lately?”

Although he kissed her hard, Shen Qi did not lose her rationality. Perhaps it was a very short kiss, and that was why she was still clearheaded.

Shen Qi met Ye Moxuan’s gaze; his eyes were as deep and captivating as the ocean, his anger the rolling waves in the sea. Shen Qi blinked several times before she whispered, “I know who I am, of course.”

After a long silence, Ye Moxuan lost his cool and yelled, “Let you go? That will never happen in this lifetime.”

With that, he lifted her up by her collar using his large hand, and his violent movements scared Shen Qi to her core. Shen Qi held onto his hand while asking him in fear, “What are you doing?”

Ye Moxuan stared at Shen Qi, who was right in front of him, and he noticed that she finally had a panicked expression etched across her fair face. “Are you finally afraid now? Weren’t you not bothered earlier? I thought you wouldn’t mind anything I do to you,” he spat.

Shen Qi pondered while panting lightly. She held onto his hand to stop him from moving before breaking the silence again. “Young Master Ye, I still have a lot of work to attend to. I—”

“Stop bringing that up.” Ye Moxuan increased his strength, as if he wanted to rip her clothes off by force. Shen Qi cried aloud in panic, “Ye Moxuan!”

Ye Moxuan finally stopped moving, and he burst out laughing. “Repeat that again.”

Shen Qi remained silent, but her lips were twitching uncontrollably. Naturally, she didn’t obey his orders, and so Ye Moxuan’s hands continued to move while his eyes flashed menacingly. “Are you dead-set on going against me? Will you be repeating that or not?”

Shen Qi shuddered involuntarily and called out for him again. “Ye Moxuan… what are you trying to do?”

“Oh, I am enforcing the obligations of a husband and wife.”
