Ye Zi was startled for a moment before stepping aside to get out of Ye Linhan’s way. She explained gently, “Miss Shen regained consciousness before you did. She already ate some porridge, and the doctor said that she’s fine.”

Ye Linhan was relieved to learn that Shen Qi was fine. Even though she looked pale and was currently spacing out, her condition was already much better than last night when she was stricken with fever.

He pursed his lips and immediately felt a dry sensation on his lips. “I’m glad that she’s fine.”

“Vice President Ye, here’s your water.”

Ye Linhan didn’t take the water but stared attentively at Shen Qi.

Meanwhile, Shen Qi was looking at him as well. She just wanted to make sure that he was okay, but his fiery gaze made her embarrassed. The scene was made even more awkward when Ye Zi held a cup of water in front of him while his gaze was fixated on Shen Qi without taking the cup.

“Cough, cough.” Shen Qi coughed out of embarrassment, then she lifted the quilt and got out of bed.

She moved over to Ye Zi, whereupon the latter passed her a cup of water with a smile. As their gazes met, Ye Zi got Shen Qi’s hint and said, “I’m going to buy something. See you later.” With that, she left the room with big strides in her high-heels.

After Ye Zi left, a hint of joy flashed across Ye Linhan’s gaze; his secretary really knew how to put him in a favorable condition at the right time.

“Er… Linhan, please have some water since you have just regained consciousness.” Shen Qi passed the cup in front of him.

Ye Linhan didn’t speak a word nor take the cup; he merely continued to stare fixedly at her.

“A-Aren’t you thirsty?” Shen Qi was holding a cup in her hands, not knowing what to do next.

“I don’t have any strength,” he said emotionlessly.

Shen Qi didn’t get it at first, but she soon understood what he meant. After all, he said that he didn’t have any strength to take the cup, therefore hinting Shen Qi should help him with it.

Her face turned red in an instant, and she felt deeply embarrassed by Ye Linhan’s attentive gaze as she nervously put the cup down on the table.

Noticing her sense of unease, Ye Linhan’s gaze turned dim. After a moment, he parted his lips, however he couldn’t bring himself to say anything in the end.

The room was filled with awkwardness. There was no way Shen Qi would feed him water, given their relationship; the most she would do was pass him the cup.

“Why don’t I call the nurse then?” As though Shen Qi finally got a lifebuoy to hold on to, she immediately turned around to leave the room. Ye Linhan was left amused, staring at her back. How could she call the nurse just because of a cup of water?

“Come back,” Ye Linhan said in a weakened voice.

Her steps halted upon hearing that, then she turned around and bit her lower lip while looking helplessly at Ye Linhan.

She looked pitiful, as though Ye Linhan had made a very demanding request. Nevertheless, he knew that he was indeed too demanding.

He chuckled at the thought and said, “I was just joking with you. Were you really going to call the nurse?”

“I…”

“I was just being playful and played a trick on you. I won’t do it again… Sorry.”

Upon hearing that, Shen Qi raised her gaze and saw that he looked apologetic. Then, she lowered her head in embarrassment before saying, “I’m the one who should say sorry. You saved me and have done so much for me, but I…” I’m not even willing to feed you some water. B-But, I really can’t!

Ye Linhan stopped forcing her after that. He then reached out in an attempt to get the cup, but before he could do that, Shen Qi already hurried over and took the cup, thereupon presenting it to him.

He unintentionally touched Shen Qi’s hand when he took over the cup, causing her to freak out and retract her hands. Fortunately, the cup was already in his hands when she did so. Noticing Shen Qi’s hostility, his gaze turned even dimmer.

He moved the cup closer to his mouth and took a few sips to moisten his throat before saying, “I’m not going to do anything to you, so you don’t have to be afraid of me.”

Shen Qi got even more embarrassed by his words, thus she didn’t respond to him and merely stepped aside.

After drinking the water, Shen Qi reached out to take over the cup, thereafter he said, “You could use some rest.”

Her hands hung in the air for a moment before she withdrew them. “Sorry…” After a long while, she apologized to Ye Linhan before turning around to get back to her bed.

Watching as she left, Ye Linhan suddenly called out, “Qi.”

Shen Qi halted her steps upon hearing that, but she didn’t turn around.

“Are you going back to him?”

After a short moment of silence, she turned around and answered, “Have I ever left him? We haven’t made ourselves clear to each other, and I still have unanswered questions.”

“What about after? After all, I saw that divorce agreement.”

His words stirred up her emotions, for she clenched her fists on the side and gritted her teeth.

“He’s going to divorce you. If you look for him now, you’re only going to humiliate yourself.”

“He wouldn’t have done that for no reason; there must be a reason behind this. Linhan, thanks for saving me. Please get some rest. I’ll look for him once I’m discharged. For now, I’ll stay here until I get better.”

Shen Qi took a seat as soon as she finished and stopped talking to Ye Linhan.

Staring at her figure, Ye Linhan couldn’t put his feelings into words; he could only feel a sense of bitterness in his mouth.

He wasn’t sure how long this feeling would last. He felt bitter because the woman he loved was right in front of him, yet he had to send her to the man she loved. It would be all good if the man loved her back. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

That thought enraged Ye Linhan. If it was possible, he wanted to take Shen Qin away against her will, away from this place as anywhere would be better than being here. The location didn’t matter, as long as she would never meet that man again.

However, he could never bring himself to do anything that was against her will. If Shen Qi cried or looked at him with an agonized expression or gaze, he would feel like the worst person in the world. If that were the case, then he would rather help her realize her wish. He would be more than content if he could make sure she was happy and help her get everything she ever wanted. When he thought of this, he made a decision.

After spending two days in the hospital, Ye Linhan decided that he would be discharged. Shen Qi and Ye Zi were startled upon hearing the news because he was badly injured, and that the doctor said he would need to stay in the hospital for at least five days. But now, he had decided on his own that he was going to leave after spending only two days in the hospital.

“Why are you leaving so soon? I’ve got the company covered. You can stay here for a few days more.”

Shen Qi, on the side, stared at him calmly as she asked, “Are you leaving sooner than you should because you think you have confined me?”

Ye Linhan smiled faintly before he answered, “Silly girl. Don’t read too much into it. I’m a man, and I’ve only suffered minor scratches. As such, I’d be considered unmanly if I stay here too long.”

“But—” Before Shen Qi could finish, Ye Linhan reached out and stroked her head. “Alright. We’ll talk about it in the future. Ye Zi, please go through the discharge procedure and pack up my stuff.”

Shen Qi understood that he was doing it for her sake because she wouldn’t leave the hospital without him leaving first, even if she were told to. He was doing it to force her to leave.

Ye Linhan… Stop being so good to me. I’m not worth it. For some reason, Shen Qi started to feel sorry for him. She felt as if she was the worst person in the world, and she didn’t need Ye Linhan to do so much for her. Moreover, they hadn’t known each other for a long time. Even if he really liked her, he had done more than what she deserved.

In the end, Ye Zi went through the discharge procedure for both of them. Yet, when Yi Zi was going through the discharge process, the doctor suggested, “Both of you may appear to be fine now, but I suggest that you should stay for another two days for further observations. Don’t you have two more days to spare?”

However, the doctor’s persuasion was to no avail. After giving some advice, he signed the papers and let them go.

Shen Qi left the hospital with them. Ye Linhan’s chauffeur had come to fetch them, but when Ye Zi wanted to help Shen Qi to get in, Ye Linhan suddenly said, “Ye Zi, she’s heading somewhere else.”

Ye Zi was startled by his words. “But… are we not leaving with Miss Shen?”

The expressionless Ye Linhan didn’t say a word, while Shen Qi batted her eyes in embarrassment. She then bit her lower lip and said, “It’s fine. I actually have somewhere to go, so I’ll leave here on my own. Both of you can go ahead.”

“Vice President Ye…” Ye Zi didn’t understand the situation. Wasn’t Ye Linhan fond of Shen Qi? Why didn’t he take the opportunity to bring her home? Leaving her behind at the hospital would only give a wrong impression on Shen Qi.

“Get in,” Ye Linhan told Ye Zi to get in the car. His determined gaze had made his stance and attitude crystal clear, therefore she had no other choice but to get in the car.

Shen Qi waved at them after the car door was closed. She wasn’t upset because she knew the real reason behind Ye Linhan’s actions. She was already more than grateful toward him.

As the car moved out of her sight, she gazed upon the view in the distance. When she was about to leave, she heard a sweet voice from nearby. “Qi.”

The sudden emergence of a familiar sweet voice startled Shen Qi, and so she turned around and saw Yan standing on the side of the road with a backpack. The latter put on a beautiful smile and waved vigorously when she saw Shen Qi turning around. “Here!”

Shen Qi was stunned as she looked fixedly at Yan who was on the other side of the street. No wonder… It was no wonder Ye Linhan would leave without any hesitation, for he already had everything prepared. She had lost her phone two days ago and couldn’t contact anyone, thus there was no way Yan would find out what had happened to her. Her appearance at this point in time could only mean that it was all part of Ye Linhan’s plan.

It never occurred to Shen Qi that Ye Linhan had got everything covered for her. As such, her eyes turned red in an instant. Just when she was about to move forward, Yan suddenly shouted, “Don’t move! I’m going over!” Then, Yan dodged the moving cars and crossed the street. She trotted over to Shen Qi and stuffed a bag into her hands. “It’s yours.”

After taking a closer look, Shen Qi realized that it was indeed her bag. “Where did you find my bag?”

“What do you think?” Yan rolled her eyes. “Dummy. You didn’t even question why I showed up. Can’t you even figure out how I got the bag then?”

That’s true… That idea never crossed her mind, so she took over the bag without a word.

“Let’s go. Spending two days in the hospital has made you lose weight. Tsk, look at the corner of your lips… It’s injured. Let’s go to my place. I’ll buy some meat and make you some soup.”

Shen Qi was touched by how good Yan was to her as she followed the latter home. When they arrived at Yan’s home, she didn’t break her promise of making soup for Shen Qi. In fact, the food Shen Qi ate when she was hospitalized was all prepared by Ye Zi’s mother. Therefore, she actually got the best care and even felt at home. Nevertheless, the soup Yan made her gave her a different kind of feeling.

“About your matters… Vice President Ye has told me everything.”

Shen Qi, who was drinking soup, halted upon hearing what Yan said.

“So what do you think? Vice President Ye is nice to you. Are you not giving him a chance? Are you really going back to Young Master Ye?”

Shen Qi remained silent for a moment, then she put down the bowl and asked, “If you were me, would you give up someone you love easily?”

“Of course not,” Yan blurted before she was startled for a moment. When she came back to her senses, she burst into laughter. “Alright, I got it. It’s not hard to love anyone, but it’s hard to find someone who would love you back. Since your love for Young Master Ye is reciprocal, then don’t give up this love just because of any misunderstanding. We’ll look for Young Master Ye later and get it sorted.”

“Okay.” Shen Qi nodded. “But I’m not sure if he wants to meet me… Two days have passed since the incident.”

“Yeah, it has been two days. Even if he’s really mad at you, his anger should be gone by now. So you don’t have to worry about it. I’m sure we’ll get to meet him when we go there later.”

“Hope so.”

After having the meal and cleaning up, they left the house for Seabay Villa. However, when they arrived at the villa, the guards at the door gave them a weird look. Xiao Su wasn’t there, but they weren’t allowed in.

“Doesn’t Young Master Ye want to meet me? Did he give you any orders?”

One of them said in a weakened voice, “He did.”

“He did? What’s the order?”

“Er… He… You’re no longer our Young Lady. He told us to chase you away if you come here.”

Upon hearing that, Shen Qi’s face turned pale in an instant, and her lips twitched as she asked, “I-Is it true?”

“Of course we won’t chase you away, but please don’t make it difficult for us. Since Young Master Ye doesn’t want to meet you, you’d better leave.”

“What are you talking about? He has said those things because he’s still angry. Don’t you get it? If he really doesn’t care about Shen Qi anymore, then he wouldn’t keep giving new orders. But since he’s still giving orders, it means that he’s still angry. And when I say angry, I mean he’s furious. It’ll be difficult if we want to meet him now.” Yan made a thinking gesture and asked, “Is Young Master Ye inside? Or has he gone out?”

The guards found Yan’s analysis reasonable, therefore they didn’t dare to offend Shen Qi. One of them nodded and said, “He has left the villa since this morning.”

“That’s great. He only said that you can’t get in Seabay Villa, but he never said that you can’t go to the Ye Group. Let’s head straight to the company now!”
