Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 401
Han Muzi asked swiftly, “What happened?”
Yan sat beside Han Muzi with the phone in her hands. Then, Yan continued swiping downward to go through the contact cards. “Muzi, look! So many people added you on WeChat. Who are they? Could it be possible that our company has gained so many clients overnight?”
“That’s quite impossible.” Han Muzi blinked several times. “Before I injured my hands yesterday, there weren’t so many people who added me as friends.”
“Could this be a prank?” Yan asked suspiciously. Then, she picked an account randomly to have a look. It turned out that the person’s friend list was blank.
“What is happening? We would know if a person has their WeChat Moments set as ‘Hidden’. However, these accounts look new. Is it possible that someone is pranking you?”
Han Muzi was confused, and so she got closer to have a look.
“I realized something important too. The account IDs are all similar…”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words.
“Alright, I can now confirm that it is a prank.”
With that, Yan added the accounts into the Blocked List one after another. “They might be trying to spy on our work, so I shall block each account. Eh, this last account doesn’t look the same. I wonder if it belongs to a client.”
“Let me have a look at the account.”
Yan showed the account to Han Muzi.
Han Muzi glanced at her phone, and somehow, she thought the account looked rather familiar.
I think I have seen it somewhere before…
When Han Muzi glanced at the numbers at the end of the WeChat account, her pupils constricted instantly. She then glanced swiftly at the introductory message.
“Hey, the person added you through your business card, which was recommended by our client, Lin Qingqing. Miss Lin must have introduced her friend to you! Let’s approve this account.”
Yan’s fair finger was about to tap on the button, but Han Muzi stopped her suddenly. “Don’t approve that account!”
Han Muzi’s tone became stern suddenly, and she had raised her voice too. Yan was so shocked that it caught her by surprise, and she ended up tapping the ‘Approve’ button by accident.
Han Muzi’s expression soured immediately, and she snapped, “Block the account immediately!”
Yan was baffled when she heard that, but she didn’t do as requested.
“Muzi, what is wrong with you? It’s a client recommended by Miss Lin. If we don’t add the account—”
“Block the account.”
“Why, though?” Yan asked in bewilderment. “Why do you want to block the account?”
“Just do as I say and stop asking so many questions,” Han Muzi answered with a harsh tone, looking rather upset. Hence, Yan didn’t dare ask further, and she nodded in acknowledgement.
“Alright, I got you.”
Then, she swiped across the phone screen and added the person into the Blocked List.
Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief once she saw that.
“Please supervise work at the office today. I will collect the design diagrams later in the afternoon.”
“Sure.” Yan returned Han Muzi her cell phone. “There isn’t anything else apart from that. Just ask Little Bean to phone me if anything crops up. I will rush home immediately.”
“Mm-hmm.”
After Yan left the room, Little Bean approached Han Muzi and asked her tentatively, “Mommy, is someone harassing you?”
“Huh? Why would you ask that?”
“Earlier, I heard Aunt Yan saying that someone is trying to add you on WeChat, mommy.”
Han Muzi smiled at him lovingly. “Don’t worry. The person must’ve added me by mistake.”
However, the smile vanished from her face after she explained to Little Bean, and her eyes darkened with concern as well.
I recognize those last digits on the WeChat account…
Besides, he added me through the business card recommended by Lin Qingqing. I know very well whom I’ve met yesterday.
Han Muzi leaned backward against her pillow and closed her eyes.
Ye Moxuan, what are you planning by adding me on WeChat?
…
At Ye Group.
In the conference room.
The board of directors were in a heated argument.
“I don’t agree with your view because it will only allow smaller companies to take advantage of the situation. It is not beneficial to our company at all. So we might as well not do it at all.”
An old man in his sixties glared at another old man of similar age, who was seated across the table.
“You old fart! You must be going senile. What do you mean that smaller companies would take advantage of the situation? We are the famous Ye Group in North City! Which small company would have the audacity to take advantage of Ye Group? Even if you presented the opportunity to them on a silver platter, they would not dare do it! Let alone without any permission!”
“Stop fighting! Let’s discuss this in a civil manner because we have to give this matter further thought and discussion.”
“Further thought and discussion? Hmph! What is there to discuss with someone like him? We should just go ahead and do it!”
The fight then went on and on.
Xiao Su observed the crowd from the side as they fought with each other. Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan, who sat at the head of the table, seemed indifferent.
Oh, he isn’t indifferent. He’s just too focused staring at his cell phone.
I’m not sure what’s wrong, but he has been checking his phone intermittently ever since he arrived at work this morning. He would pick his phone up to check something soon after putting it down.
During that time, Xiao Su noticed that the display across Ye Moxuan’s phone screen happened to be the WeChat interface.
I suspect that this is related to the incident last night where Young Master Ye phoned me to procure multiple WeChat accounts. That may be the reason he has been staring at his WeChat interface all day at work today. He seems distracted even in a meeting—he usually emphasizes meetings the most.
Everyone else is entangled in an intense discussion, whereas Ye Moxuan is ignoring everything.
Multiple thoughts flashed across Xiao Su’s mind, and he glanced at Ye Moxuan’s phone discreetly. He noticed Ye Moxuan’s phone vibrate suddenly, and Ye Moxuan visibly trembled, as though in shock.
For a moment, he seemed delighted.
Then, he opened the WeChat interface hastily.
Xiao Su stole a glance at the screen quietly.
‘Shelly has approved your friend request. You can now start chatting.‘
Shelly?
Who is Shelly?
Xiao Su was slightly puzzled. Why have I not heard of this name?
Has Ye Moxuan been staring at his phone all this while waiting for this person? It sounds like a woman’s name…
Xiao Su got closer stealthily because he wanted to see what Ye Moxuan could possibly say to that woman. However, an icy gaze turned toward Xiao Su suddenly, causing him to be so frightened that he straightened his back immediately.
Forget it; my life is more important. I suppose I shouldn’t be such a busybody.
Ye Moxuan wanted to send her a message, but when he arrived at the chat box, he realized he had no idea what to say.
We haven’t seen each other for five years. Here I am, adding her as a friend; but does she know that it’s me?
Maybe she doesn’t know it’s me.
Well, what should I say?
“What should I say?” Ye Moxuan suddenly glanced at Xiao Su, who responded with a grunt before leaning forward. “Yes, Young Master Yes?”
“Usually, what is the first thing to say in a chat?”
“Um, ‘How are you?’”
Ye Moxuan pursed his thin lips without answering him. He was obviously unsatisfied with that answer.
Xiao Su struggled before adding, “What should you say, if not ‘How are you’? Or… why don’t you greet the person by their name?”
Ye Moxuan was still unhappy with his answer, and so Xiao Su cleared his throat and suggested, “How about ‘Are you there?’”
Ye Moxuan’s eyes shifted as though he was pleased with that suggestion. Then, he started typing and sent a message saying, ‘Are you there?’
Xiao Su was just beside Ye Moxuan, and he couldn’t help it as the corners of his lips started twitching when he saw what Ye Moxuan typed.
If I’m not mistaken, Young Master Ye never chats with people on WeChat. His WeChat status is always on ‘Work Mode’. Besides, he is always blunt and direct in his text messages, so why is he… sending something so out of the ordinary today?
However, what shocked Xiao Su the most was the display message on the phone screen after Ye Moxuan sent out his message.
‘The message has been sent, but it was rejected by the other party.’
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 402
Xiao Su was dumbfounded for a moment before he coughed softly. He desperately wanted to cover his eyes.
Ye Moxuan, in contrast, clearly hadn’t figured it out yet, but as he watched closely at the red dot and the words below it, he squinted his eyes and looked toward Xiao Su. “What does it mean?”
The message was sent but was rejected by the other party.
Xiao Su kept on twitching his body, not answering Ye Moxuan’s question.
“Xiao Su.” Ye Moxuan’s voice turned cold as his eyes were filled with murderous intent.
Then, Xiao Su let out a dry laugh before gently explaining to him, “Young Master Ye, it means you’ve been blocked.”
Ye Moxuan was dumbstruck. “Blocked?”
“Yes.” Xiao Su nodded solemnly. “It means that the other person found out about your personal information through your friend request and put you under their blocked list.” He was afraid that Ye Moxuan couldn’t understand properly so he explained it in great detail.
After he was done, Ye Moxuan’s face was darkened to the core.
At this moment, Xiao Su realized that he had spoken too much, so he immediately stopped talking and stood straight as a pole.
He thought to himself, Oh, my god! What I’ve said just now won’t get me into trouble, right? But it’s because he seemed like he didn’t understand any of it, so I wanted to explain it clearer to him.
The veins on Ye Moxuan’s forehead were starting to bulge as he tightened his grip on the phone. The side of his lips then curled up chillingly while he asked, “So I’ve been blocked. Does this mean they know who I am?”
Xiao Su nodded callously. “I guess so. Or else… they wouldn’t have blocked you.”
Ye Moxuan kept quiet as his gloomy eyes stared straight at the WeChat interface on his screen.
He had already sent her the request for a long time now, and right at the moment she accepted it, he was immediately blocked.
“If they really wanted to block me, why go through all this?” asked Ye Moxuan as he was very upset.
Xiao Su blinked and replied, “Maybe… it was a mistake.”
Ye Moxuan’s lips twitched before he turned his murderous gaze toward Xiao Su.
“President Ye, please tell this cowardly old geezer how it should be done!” The two men who were arguing while all of this was happening suddenly looked toward Ye Moxuan and threw the problem to him. It didn’t matter how long they quarrel over the decision; the final call was still in Ye Moxuan’s hands.
Unexpectedly, he raised his head and gave them an unwelcoming glance. “What is it?”
The two men’s expressions changed. “President Ye?”
Xiao Su couldn’t bear to look at the situation, so he whispered to him, “It’s about the development of Feng Group’s land.”
“I see.” Ye Moxuan raised his lips. “I haven’t given much thought into it, so let’s just call it a day. Meeting is adjourned.”
Everybody was left staggered by him.
However, he couldn’t care less for everyone’s reaction; he straight away picked up his phone and went back to his office.
That woman. That god damn woman! She actually blocked me after accepting my friend request. So it looks like she clearly knows who I am. But how could she treat her future client like that? Fine! That’s just perfect.
As soon as he reached his office, he used his other account to try to add her again, but there was no reply or reaction in the end.
After giving it a thought, he finally realized something.
He had used so many accounts to try to add her last night. If she was smart enough, she would have figured out what he was up to.
Ye Moxuan bit gently on his lips as he placed his phone on the desk, feeling frustrated as ever.
What do I do now? he wondered. He followed according to his mind when he asked for the contact from Li Qingqing, but he never anticipated to meet her there.
Ye Moxuan shut his eyes. What came after seemed to be in chaos and completely out of order.
…
Han Muzi had been staying at home recovering for a whole morning. Han Qing was very concerned for her hands, so he called over the doctor again to change the medicine on her hands. When the doctor was changing her wound dressing, she felt that the pain on her hands wasn’t as excruciating as yesterday anymore; it looked like the doctor’s medicine worked a treat.
After changing the medicine, Han Muzi wanted to go back to the company but was stopped by Han Qing. “You’d better stay at home for these few days and get some rest.”
Hearing that, Han Muzi’s eyebrows raised. “Qing!”
“You’re not going anywhere before your hands are fully healed.”
“Qing!” She was getting a little angry at him. “You were the one who started the company for me. Now, there’s a lot of people in the company and clients waiting for me, but you’re saying I can’t go back. What about my clients?”
Han Qing was stunned as he didn’t know she would be enraged by him, so he unwittingly said to her, “Muzi, I’m doing this for your good. I’m very worried of you carrying that injury. Besides, what else can you do in the company with injured hands?”
After listening to his sigh, Han Muzi realized that she was letting her anger get over her head for the moment, and so she softened up and pleaded to him, “Qing, I’m not going there for work; I’m just going there to check on their design plans and maybe guide them on it. You said it yourself that I can’t do anything with my hands now, so I won’t even be using them later, alright? My dear brother, I know you are concerned for me, but I’m just going there to have a peek. Can I do that?”
At the end, Han Qing unwillingly nodded after her constant plea. “Fine. Let Mr. Nan send you over. But you must be back within an hour.”
An hour was enough for her. Then, Han Muzi was pleased as she nodded. “Thank you, Qing.”
Afterward, she swiftly turned to go upstairs but was grabbed at the leg by Little Bean, who heard that she was going to work.
“Mommy, I want to go too. I want to go too!”
Han Muzi was stunned. “What do you want to go there for? I’ll only be there for an hour. I’ll be back soon.”
“No.” He then went to hug her arms. “You’re hurt, mommy. I want to protect you!”
Han Muzi was speechless at his reaction. “You little bean sprout, what can you possibly do over there? Add more trouble for me, huh?”
After she was done, she bent over to have a laugh at him.
Little Bean felt upset, and he pouted his lips. “You’re a bad person, mommy! How dare you make fun of me!”
Han Muzi was just having fun with him, so after seeing his face, she couldn’t help but flash her white teeth to reveal a huge smile. “You silly little boy. If you want to go, then go wear your sunglasses and hat.”
“Alright. Please wait for me, mommy.” Immediately, he went back to his room to change his clothing.
While watching his back, Han Muzi drifted off for a while. Back when she was abroad, she could do whatever she wanted, but now… she couldn’t, especially after bumping into that person yesterday. Seeing how alike both he and Little Bean’s faces were, she felt like there was an answer waiting to burst out.
However, she couldn’t even dare to think of it as it was too absurd; it was downright impossible.
Now, it would be better for Little Bean if he could conceal his looks, or else… it would draw a lot of unwanted speculation and whispers.
As expected, this was the inconvenience of staying in the same city.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 403
A short while later, Little Bean came back to her with his clothes changed and the sunglasses blocking half of his face. The sunglasses were initially bought by Han Muzi for him. The hat along with the sunglasses should provide enough cover to avoid him being recognized.
Han Muzi was satisfied with his outfit. “Let’s go.”
Little Bean ran over hurriedly to her with his short legs and held onto her arm. “Mommy, let’s go together.”
“Alright.”
Both of them sat together in Mr. Nan’s car as he drove them to the company. When they arrived, Mr. Nan informed Han Muzi, “Miss Muzi, Mr. Han told me to bring you back to the Han Residence an hour later.
“I know, Mr. Nan. You can have a rest upstairs for the time being. We’ll leave an hour later.”
“Alright, Miss Muzi.”
Later, Han Muzi brought Little Bean along with her upstairs. Initially, she wanted to leave him in her office before going down, but Little Bean insisted to follow her. Without a choice, she could only let him follow her to the third floor.
After a night of overtime, the group of people could be seen lifeless at the time of noon. Some were laying flat at their desk dozing off, and some were busy with their own phones. Overall, it wasn’t a proper look of a workplace. However, when the sound of clacking heels was heard, everybody casually glanced toward it, and surprisingly, Han Muzi appeared before their eyes. Just then, everyone straightened their back right away. No matter what, Han Muzi was still their superior.
Even so, Zhang Yu didn’t give much notice to her and sneered, “Who does she think she is? I can’t believe she still has the audacity to come here after screaming at us yesterday to stay overtime and finish the design plans, but she herself wandered to god-knows-where and suddenly showed up so late in the day. How shameless!”
Hearing this, Han Muzi’s expression changed slightly. Usually, she wouldn’t mind these words one bit, but today, there was Little Bean beside her. If she had known about this earlier, she wouldn’t have brought him here.
As she thought about it, she lowered her head to Little Bean next to her. “Little Bean, go find Aunt Yan on the fifth floor now. Alright?”
Even though nobody could see his blinking dark eyes under the sunglasses, his lips started to curl up as he was upset. “No! I want to stay and protect you, Mommy!” he protested.
Everyone was left astounded as a childish voice spread throughout the office. Instantly, everybody couldn’t help but stare toward the little boy beside Han Muzi. He was just a tiny, adorable kid standing beside her. His clothing were fashionable and foreign along with his sunglasses and hat. However, one could easily see the kid’s extraordinary looks just by his frame.
A second later, the little kid walked out a few steps and arrived in front of Zhang Yu. “Aunty, it is wrong of you to talk bad about someone like this. My mommy injured her hands last night, so she didn’t come to the company. And you calling my mommy shameless showed clearly how impolite you are.”
Everyone was utterly dumbfounded. Not only was this kid oozing class and nobility, but he was also excellent at being blunt to point out other people’s weak points. Imagine being called impolite by a little kid as an adult—it went to show how impolite she, an adult, must have been.
After getting called impolite by a little brat, Zhang Yu suddenly blushed. “You… What makes you say I’m impolite? Have I said anything wrong?”
Little Bean blinked his eyes in a cute and adorable way. He looked toward the crowd. “Ladies and gentlemen, didn’t I explain just now?”
Everyone was shocked again, but they instinctively nodded in agreement.
At the same time, Leng Yueyue, with her hands crossed, was standing beside the already blushing Zhang Yu while looking at her with a smirk. “I must say, Zhang Yu, didn’t the kid just explain everything? It was because of her injury that she couldn’t come to the company, but you acted like you didn’t hear a thing. Is it because you’re deaf, or you can’t understand his words?”
“Leng Yueyue, you!” Zhang Yu snapped.
Leng Yueyue raised her eyebrows and smiled. “What about me? All of us heard it crystal clear.” Then, she turned over to Little Bean as a smile crossed her lips. “Little guy, you really have a great eye, knowing to call us ladies. But Zhang Yu here is an aunty, so remember to call her ‘aunty’ from now on.”
“You! Leng Yueyue, you’ve gone too far now! I’m just a few years older than you! Why am I called an aunty, but you can be called a lady? This isn’t fair!”
“Hey, I think it’s better for you to keep quiet. Even though you’re just a few years older than me, we are still a level apart. After all, you’re already in your 30’s now.”
Zhang Yu’s face became more horrid.
As for Han Muzi, who was standing aside, she remained silent. Similarly, she was also a woman in her 30’s, but fortunately, she had a child, so there was nothing to fear of. Upon that thought, she let out a small sigh of relief before waving toward the little boy. “Little Bean, come back here.”
Little Bean acknowledged her and turned his head over before walking back.
Li Junfeng also raised his eyebrows and asked, “Miss Muzi, is this adorable little fellow really your son?”
Wang An couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his lips. “I can’t believe that you have a son already considering how young you are. Is he the son of—” A name flashed through his mind, but for some reason, it never came out of his mouth.
It was Han Qing—a person he didn’t want to mess with.
Shu Guo’er let out a smile, different from her shyful self when she was reprimanded by Han Muzi that day. “This little buddy is very cute, and he is also surprisingly polite.”
Zhang Yu’s face twitched when she heard her words. These words were obviously a jab at her. She knew that Shu Guo’er was getting even with her after she mocked her for copying other people’s work in the meeting room a few days back.
“Alright. I’ve come today to check on your work after last night’s overtime. The meeting will start in 10 minutes, so please be ready.” After Han Muzi finished talking, she left the place while holding onto Little Bean’s hand. The minute she was gone, the whole office blew up.
“Sigh, I thought I had a chance of getting with her. But it looks like I should give up on that thought now.” Li Junfeng shaked his head helplessly, as if he had just lost a loved one.
Shu Guo’er, who stood beside him, gave him a glance. “Even if she didn’t have a son, you still wouldn’t stand any chance.”
“Who cares? What’s so great about having a son? If she isn’t recognized as that man’s woman, then what’s the point of having his son? I’d say that it’s even more shameless!” Zhang Yu spat as everyone was listening to her.
Then, Li Junfeng suddenly held his chin and smiled. “To be honest, she never introduced herself before as Han Qing’s woman. Do you think we have misunderstood her?”
“Misunderstood her? Who could she be other than Han Qing’s woman? There is no other reason for Han Qing to throw so much money away for a woman.”
“Zhang Yu, why are you so agitated about it? Even if Han Qing really wanted to throw away his money for her, it’s not like he’s married. Besides, there isn’t even a rumor of him having a girlfriend, so it makes sense for him to throw out this much money. Hence, she isn’t a mistress in the relationship.”
Zhang Yu grunted, “Who cares if she is or isn’t a mistress? She can only depend on other men to survive!”
“Umm, I don’t see it that way actually, for she doesn’t seem completely inept. If she really were dependent on men to survive, then she wouldn’t have been able to out our weakness that day.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 404
After hearing what Li Junfeng said, Zhang Yu was left speechless.
That day, when Han Muzi was having a meeting, she pointed out all of their weaknesses, as if she had it all in the palm of her hand.
“That doesn’t prove that she is capable. We have been in this business for so many years now; she could easily hire anyone to check on us if she really wanted to know. In this world, there is nothing money can’t do for you. Isn’t it true?”
“Yes, it is true that there is nothing money can’t do.” Li Junfeng turned over to Zhang Yu with a smile. “For example, it is obvious that you hate her guts, but you still stayed here for money.”
This sentence hit hard on her face like a slap, and she couldn’t recover from her embarrassment. Leng Yueyue was giggling aside, while Xiao Yiyi couldn’t help smiling as well.
Even Shu Guo’er, who sat beside Zhang Yu, gave her a disdainful smile. “I told you before. You could leave if you’re not happy staying here, but you chose to stay. Now, I see the reason.”
“I…” Zhang Yu couldn’t utter a word as she was infuriated to the core.
Furthermore, everybody was starting to ignore her, so she tightened her grip on the corner of her desk while angrily biting her lips.
That damn b*tch. We’ll see! It doesn’t matter if she has Han Qing’s child. She doesn’t have her status as his wife yet, so she can be pushed away anytime! Han Qing…
Zhang Yu’s eyes sharpened as she went.
In the meeting room.
Before going into the meeting room, Han Muzi handed Little Bean over to Yan so that she could take care of him and prevent him from running around.
However, Yan right away wanted to just lock him inside the office. “Your mommy’s hands are hurt, so I need to go help her. You just stay put here in the office. Do you have any questions?”
Little Bean shook his head. “No questions. But Aunt Yan, I think I can go over as an audit.”
“An audit?”
“Yes, Aunt Yan. I’m so well-behaved; I promise I won’t talk nonsense as an audit.”
“Well, this…”
Then, Little Bean straight away walked up to grab her arm and childishly pleaded, “Aunt Yan, I can send over photos of Uncle Qing to you.”
Listening to his words, Yan suddenly straightened her back, showing an awe-inspiring look. “What do you mean? I don’t understand.”
“It’s Uncle Qing’s personal photos, not those kinds where you find on the news or magazines.”
Personal photos… Yan fantasized of Han Qing wearing a casual T-shirt and shorts sitting on a sofa at night while a glowing lamp shone upon him. Suddenly, she could feel the lust inside of her.
“Aunt Yan, how about we use this as a deal?”
“Deal!”
For the sake of my dream guy’s photos, I’ll shamelessly accept this offer once! she thought. He is only staying there as an audit, so I’m still in control.
Therefore, Yan right away brought Little Bean into the meeting room and arranged a place for the tiny boy to sit way at the back. Little Bean, on the other hand, had no fuss with it as he sat happily on the tall chair while dangling both of his short legs underneath the table.
While everyone else came in, they couldn’t resist giving Little Bean a few looks.
When Leng Yueyue walked by him, she abruptly stopped at her steps to take out a toffee candy from her pocket and gave it to him.
Little Bean looked at the delicious candy with eyes showing traces of desire, but he didn’t reach out for it and just smiled brightly. “Thank you, pretty lady. But my mommy said that children can’t eat too much candy, or else it will be bad for our teeth.”
Listening to him, Leng Yueyue couldn’t help but glance at Han Muzi, who was sitting at the main seat. Her eyes were gently looking over at their direction, and it didn’t turn ice cold when it made contact with her eyes.
Han Muzi didn’t feel anything wrong with it, but Leng Yueyue felt uncomfortable about it, so she avoided her gaze and said with her mouth twitched to the side, “Your mommy lied to you. It is fine to eat one once in a while.”
Little Bean was startled. Actually, mommy said that I can’t randomly eat anything from strangers.
However, when he looked toward Han Muzi, she gave him a nod. Thus he reached out with his small pair of hands and accepted it with both hands.
Usually, for normal children who loved candy, when an adult handed them one, they would straight away reach a hand out to pick it. Due to them being little kids, there was no complication to this kind of action, for any kind of action always showed the children’s purest intent. As for this Little Bean in front of Leng Yueyue, his way of taking the candy, which was like receiving an award, actually shocked her.
“Thank you, pretty lady. I like you very much.”
Leng Yueyue took a few seconds to get back to her sense and quickly handed the toffee candy over to his hand. “You’re welcome, little buddy. If you really like it, then I’ll bring some more for you next time.”
As she sat down at her seat, she was still a little shocked whenever she looked toward Little Bean’s eyes. This little guy is extremely well-taught.
Suddenly, she glanced toward Han Muzi. Even though they didn’t know the extent of her capabilities yet, at least she was very competent in the upbringing of her child. She then realized how she was able to maintain her composure in front of a problematic bunch like them.
More people came in continuously, and a lot of them looked toward where Little Bean sat.
Zhang Yu—who had suffered before under Little Bean—didn’t dare to speak more nonsense as she was afraid that the little rascal would embarrass her again if she opened her mouth.
“Looks like everybody’s here. Now, show me the result after last night’s hard work.”
The moment she finished her sentence, the door to the meeting room was pushed open, and a thin figure walked in.
Then, everybody turned their focus toward the source of the sound.
The lights in the room reflected the sense of nonchalant in the young man’s youthful face.
“Lin Zheng!” Xiao Yiyi’s eyes lit up at the sight of him, and then she stood up and went toward him.
However, the young man straight away ignored Xiao Yiyi and walked past her toward Han Muzi.
Han Muzi, on the other hand, looked calmly at the young man.
The cleanly-washed white shirt the young man wore still made him look as thin as a stick. Even though his face and lips were somewhat pale, the young man was still as handsome as ever.
Even so, it was his ice cold eyes, which was devoid of any temperature, that startled Han Muzi. It reminded her of someone else.
While she was drifting away, the young man had already reached in front of her and looked at her indifferently.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yiyi anxiously came over. She wanted to pull his sleeves, but she didn’t dare to, so she could only stare blankly at him. “L-Lin Zheng, what’s wrong with you?”
Han Muzi remained her composure as he watched her, and then she raised her head to have a look. “Do you have a problem?”
Lin Zheng’s pale lips twitched, and he suddenly placed a book on the table.
She gave it a glance and grabbed it over. “You drew this draft?” She quickly flipped through it after she finished her words. “Since you are here, take a seat.”
Meanwhile, Lin Zheng kept on staring at her with complexity, but he didn’t say anything and turned away to his seat while Xiao Yiyi followed closely.
After giving the draft a look while flipping through the pages, Han Muzi’s face darkened.
She lifted her eyes toward Lin Zheng. It wasn’t her illusion. This young man’s work had taken on a gloomy, depressed style.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 405
She didn’t say anything afterward as she closed the book and placed Lin Zheng’s work on her left. She then proceeded on looking at other people’s work and explaining their problems.
“Xiao Yiyi, your design work is a bit better than before, but the changes aren’t big enough. If you really want to change your style, try taking a bigger risk. A small change to it isn’t big enough to affect your whole design.”
Han Muzi then had a look at Zhang Yu’s work before glancing at her with her eyebrows raised.
“What’s wrong? I actually spent a lot of time yesterday researching Lin Xinghuo! Don’t try to find any other excuses to criticize me again.”
After listening to her, a trace of a smile appeared on Han Muzi’s mouth. “Zhang Yu, you thought that I was looking for an excuse to criticize you the last time, so you purposefully poured all your rage on your work. Is that right?” She put Zhang Yu’s work back in front of her. “Bring it back and take a few looks at it. Don’t forget the true meaning of being a designer.”
Zhang Yu wanted to follow up on her comment, but Han Muzi didn’t give her the chance as she right away said, “Leng Yueyue, you did a good job with your work this time. You went through with the changes and finished trimming the details. So you’ll be staying here later to discuss other minor details with me. If there isn’t a problem with it, we’ll send this version out to our client.”
Leng Yueyue was overwhelmed; she never thought that she would be chosen.
With that, the expression in her eyes as she regarded Han Muzi became more surprised, but she kept herself silent. However, it was Wang An beside her that kept on applauding her after seeing his dream girl getting the praise. “You’re so great, Yueyue!” he cheered.
“After the meeting, I would like both Yueyue and Lin Zheng to stay. I have something to tell the two of you.”
As soon as the meeting was over, Zhang Yu was the first one to rush out of the meeting room while the others slowly went out. Meanwhile, Lin Zheng sat still with a cold face like a wooden sculpture, and beside him was Little Bean, who had been using a curious eye to check him out thoroughly during all this time.
This young man’s aura is so chilling, but at least he is quite good-looking.
In the meantime, Leng Yueyue looked at Han Muzi unsatisfyingly. “What else do you want to say to me, now that you’ve asked me to stay back?” She didn’t wait for a reply. “Don’t think that I will appreciate you for this. Let me tell you one thing—if you’re one of those incapable women, I still won’t like you!”
Han Muzi went silent for a while as she gave her a calm look and asked, “Why do I need you to like me?”
Leng Yueyue snorted. “Just quickly say what you want to tell me.”
“It’s about your work. Even though the details are done nicely, there are still some points that I wanted to go through with you.”
“Then say what you want to say!” Leng Yueyue had always found it difficult to deal with Han Muzi, and to be honest, she herself was also a difficult person to deal with.
After that, Han Muzi told her some of her thoughts and asked her how she thought of it. Suddenly, Leng Yueyue’s eyes widened. “You just need to voice out your thoughts on this. What are you asking me for? How can I—”
“This work is yours, so you yourself get to decide what to do with it. I’m done with what I wanted to tell you. Go back and think about it yourself.”
“Hmph!” Leng Yueyue grabbed onto her documents and turned away.
After she was gone, Han Muzi diverted her attention toward Lin Zheng.
“Lin Zheng, come here.”
Lin Zheng’s thin shoulder moved, and a second later, he lifted his head before walking toward her.
Seeing how the young man’s pale lips were kept shut, it was clear that he wasn’t willing to talk, so Han Muzi didn’t force it on him but only placed his work in front of him.
“According to your current state, you are not able to design the exhibition work for the time being. You need to quickly adjust yourself.”
Lin Zheng glanced at his work, then his gaze was startled for a moment. At last, he opened his thin lips gently. “Isn’t it good enough?”
“What?”
“My design work. It meets up with your requirements, right? If so, why are you keeping me here?” After finishing his words, Lin Zheng turned away and left.
Han Muzi was staggered for a while, but as she watched Lin Zheng’s back view for a second, she said, “We are willing to give you a chance because you have a gift.”
Immediately, Lin Zheng stopped his steps and just stood still. He couldn’t believe the words he heard. Because I have a gift?
People like him naturally could only design works that had a dark, gloomy style, and his designs would make people feel unhappy and depressed. Even though he could be seen as a talent in the designing business, he never had much fame due to the lack of people that admired his work. However, he was desperate for money. His family… needed money.
Han Muzi’s eyes were stapled on the young man’s weak back, and she noticed that the shirt couldn’t conceal his thin body completely. “Problems are temporary, and there is always sunlight behind darkness. You really have a great gift, and it’s the kind people would kill for.”
Han Muzi stood up and slowly went to his side. “Of course, if you want to choose this time to give up on yourself, then nobody can help you. The company already paid you your wages, so during this period, you have enough time to change.”
Lin Zheng’s body remained still as he stood rooted to the floor.
Nobody had told him these words his whole life. The grip of his hands on each side of his body tightened as his veins on his forehead started to bulge. “You went to my house yesterday, didn’t you?”
Han Muzi raised her eyebrows, but she didn’t deny it.
Then, the young man turned over and landed his stern eyes on her face. “So are you pitying me?”
“Pitying you?” She gave him a calm smile before taking a deep breath. “I’m a designer and a businesswoman. Do you think… businessmen would pity anybody? I think you might have seen your situation as too bleak, and I don’t have the sympathy for that.”
After she was done talking, she looked toward Little Bean, who was sitting at the side while dangling his legs.
“Come down, Little Bean. Our one hour time is up. Time to go home.”
“Alright.” Little Bean obediently nodded and came down from the chair before taking the initiative to hold her hand beside her. He then glanced at Lin Zheng and smiled brightly.
“Mommy, let’s go.”
“Yeah.”
Han Muzi left while holding on to Little Bean, leaving Lin Zheng standing alone in the meeting room.
The wind went in from the window and blew up the documents on the desk. As Lin Zheng saw his drawing book, he fell into a strange silence.
A gift? Is there really sunlight behind darkness? he wondered.
No one… No one has said any of these to me before.
But how could I break away from the dark to search for that trace of sunlight? Lin Zheng’s grip tightened even more.
“Mommy, the aura on that young man is so cold. He doesn’t feel like a normal person.”
It doesn’t feel like a normal person? Han Muzi thought of his situation that Xi told her and inexplicably let out a sigh.
It was hard to find someone who still had such a sane mind living such a horrid life. Now, Lin Zheng’s gift still needed some more digging to unleash his potential. Even if others couldn’t dig it out for him, it didn’t mean that she couldn’t.
Also, she was willing to give him the chance to turn over a new leaf.
As they reached the bottom floor, Yan suddenly ran toward them.
“Muzi! We have a new client!”
A new client? Han Muzi turned to Yan, who had run to the front of Han Muzi while panting with a pale face. “Guess who’s here?” Yan asked.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 406
Seeing how exhausted Yan was, Han Muzi resignedly said, “Why are you in such a hurry? If there is a client, you can just welcome them yourself.”
After listening to her, Yan’s face turned pale as she gulped before she muttered, “But the client demanded to see you specifically.”
Han Muzi blinked. “See me?”
Yan nodded vigorously as her face was in bad shape, and her breathing was uneven. Logically, she shouldn’t be looking so pale from rushing over, even if she had a weak respiratory system. Seeing her like this could only mean that something big had happened, and that client…
A spark flashed through Han Muzi’s mind as she suddenly thought of something. She then looked toward Yan with her lips trembling.
On the other hand, Yan was biting onto her lips while trying to avoid her eyesight.
Thump! Han Muzi could feel her heart thumped fiercely within her, and without hesitation, she turned over to Mr. Nan. “Mr. Nan, please send Little Bean back first and inform my brother that I have some problem to deal with at the company for the moment. So… I will take a cab back myself later.”
“Umm…” Mr. Nan looked at her helplessly after hearing her words. “But Mr. Han instructed me to—”
“It’s fine, Mr. Nan. I’m just going to have a discussion. Please assure my brother that I won’t hurt my hands.” She then turned over to his son. “Little Bean, you go back home with Mr. Nan first. I’ll come back later for you, okay?”
After seeing Yan and his mother’s horrid faces, Little Bean didn’t make any fuss and nodded obediently. “Alright, mommy. Then Mr. Nan, let’s go back home first. I will explain mommy’s situation to Uncle Qing.”
Afterward, Mr. Nan finally nodded with agreement and left with Little Bean.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi took a deep breath and looked toward Yan.
There wasn’t any blood left on Yan’s face, as if she had just been through a huge shock. She was seldom like this in the past five years.
She had only been shocked once, which was when Han Muzi was giving birth to Little Bean. They had a complication, so a lot of blood spilled out. At that time, Yan was right beside her, and she was shocked to the point where her face was pale white, and blood drained away from her lips.
Han Muzi never thought she would see her this way for the second time.
At the same time, Han Muzi had already guessed who that person was.
“Let’s go.” She held on to Yan’s hand and went the other direction. Meanwhile, Yan was dragged along by her like a wooden doll.
When they went into the elevator, Han Muzi’s face remained calm while Yan blinked and asked, “Why didn’t you… ask me?”
“What?” Han Muzi gave her a glance.
Yan felt that Han Muzi was abnormally calm. Usually, when seeing Yan like this, Han Muzi would ask her about the situation, but now, she kept quiet and maintained her cool posture. This meant…
“You already knew?” Yan asked her with a trembling voice.
Han Muzi didn’t reply as she kept her eyes lowered to the ground.
Suddenly, her hand was grabbed by Yan, who unsettlingly asked her, “He is the man that you asked me to block this morning on WeChat, right? Muzi, are you still going to meet him?”
Listening to her, Han Muzi let out a gentle smile and lifted her head to meet Yan’s eyes. “Yes, I want to meet him. Why shouldn’t I?” she asked softly with her floating eyes and smile, as if the situation wasn’t something to be worried about. Her emotions remained undisturbed as she continued, “It doesn’t matter who he is. All it matters is that he is our client.”
Yan stayed silent as she loosened her grip on Han Muzi’s hand. She then leaned on the wall weakly.
Ding—
At this moment, the elevator door opened.
Han Muzi walked out with her eyes detached from any emotions while Yan drifted off while leaning against the elevator wall. Does Muzi really not care about it anymore?
In the office.
Ye Moxuan was looking around. The office’s style and atmosphere was lively, and the desk was placed with freshly-bloomed Baby’s Breath. Even though it was his first time seeing the flower, it still felt particularly vivacious to him.
All of these then accelerated his heartbeat even further. Soon, I’m about to meet that woman. This will be the second time we meet. How will she react to me this time?
Thinking about it, Ye Moxuan’s eyes gradually darkened.
As a faint clacking sound of high heels approached, Ye Moxuan suddenly tightened his fists.
Is she here?
The door to the office wasn’t closed as Han Muzi walked toward it a step at a time.
Initially, after seeing him once that day, she thought that she would be nervous meeting him again, but now, while she was walking toward the office, she realized how calm and peaceful her heart was.
It may be the result of her self-soothing on that day, but it was also because… the man had already lost a place in her heart. That was why, when meeting him for the second time, she was peaceful at heart.
The moment she entered the office, a tall and straight figure stood before her eyes.
The man in the dark suit had his back facing her. Even though only his back view could be seen, one could still feel his vigorous elegance. The tight suit highlighted every inch of his body line, showing off a fantastic figure.
After giving him a glance, Han Muzi quickly looked away before the man turned over to her, and then she started walking steadily toward him.
As for the pale-faced Yan, she came in right after haphazardly while following Han Muzi, but then, she accidentally knocked her on the back.
“Ah!” Han Muzi stopped as Ye Moxuan turned around.
The man’s handsome smile appeared in front of her.
Han Muzi remained in her composure and turned to Yan. “Go make some coffee.”
Yan lifted her head with a stunned face and took a long time before she nodded. “Alright. I’ll go make some now.”
She walked out of the office haphazardly again, as if she was drunk.
Han Muzi felt helpless seeing her this way. This girl…
Then, she turned over to Ye Moxuan and smiled. “Please take a seat.”
Ye Moxuan was silent. He had imagined scenes of them meeting up multiple times before, but he had never thought of her reaction to be like this.
No sadness, no anger, no surprise and no happiness… Nothing. There was nothing.
Her eyes were as calm as water, and even her smile felt emotionless to others. He couldn’t see her feelings toward him.
Ye Moxuan’s eyes dimmed as he thought, Is she really this calm after seeing me? Then what does my upsurge of emotions these past few days count for? What was the point of my past agitation?
After she invited him to sit down, Han Muzi went over to the sofa and sat across it.
The office was in complete silence as the man finally walked over with his long slim legs and sat down facing straight at her. Then, his burning eyes were glued onto her.
At this moment, Yan came in with the coffee.
Compared with Han Muzi, Yan’s emotions were unstable. But now, she felt better because she finally picked herself up; or else, she wouldn’t have been able to give Ye Moxuan the coffee without her hand trembling.
“Please enjoy.” Yan then stood beside Han Muzi.
“Please show our company’s catalog to the gentleman.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 407
Yan was startled for a minute, then she followed Han Muzi’s order and brought over the catalog.
The catalog was set by both Han Muzi and Yan on that day. It wasn’t the final version, but for now, it was enough to briefly satisfy the man in front of them, so she right away gave it to Ye Moxuan.
“Sir, you can have a look at our catalog. Because we are just a newly-opened company, so there is still chance of a discount for the prices shown. If you really like our design and help introduce more clients to us, we will send our sincere greetings to you annually during your birthday on behalf of the whole company. We will even add a set of designed outfit, on the house.”
Han Muzi introduced the company to him with a calm voice, the same way she communicated with a normal client. Excluding Ye Moxuan, even Yan found her weird, so she kept on glancing at her from time to time.
Yan thought to herself, How is Muzi so calm in such a situation?
Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan gave the catalog in front of him a look while listening to her emotionless voice. It wouldn’t be true to say that he wasn’t angry inside.
After she was done introducing, both parties went into another round of complete silence. Since she wasn’t in a rush, she quietly waited for his reply.
The office fell into an atmosphere of awkwardness and strange silence as Ye Moxuan locked his eyes onto the catalog. Even though he was a man, his long eyelashes were enough to conceal his gloomy eyes. Nobody could see what he was thinking.
After a while, a smile suddenly crossed his initially-pursed lips. “I see. Are there any other customary services?”
Han Muzi paused and asked, “What you’re saying is?”
Then, Ye Moxuan raised his hands and placed the catalog on the tabletop. His perfectly-structured fingers gently touched the tabletop while his thoughtful eyes were locked onto Han Muzi. “For example, a designer of my choice.”
Quickly, Yan—who was standing aside—changed her expression as her breathing stopped for a second. He came for Muzi!
At first, she thought that it was all a coincidence, but after seeing how calm Han Muzi was, she secretly knew it wasn’t a coincidence at all. Now, Ye Moxuan’s actions clearly stated that he came solely for her.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi was only stunned for a while as she already had a contingency plan ready, so she nodded back and smiled. “Of course you can. Mr. Ye, if you already have someone in mind, then you can choose your designer right after the contract is signed.”
Designing clothes was only one of the reasons, as that wasn’t Ye Moxuan’s true intention. He gently tapped his fingers on the table and said, “Then that settles it.”
Yan was left in awe. So… does this mean we are taking up another huge order?
In the meantime, Han Muzi still kept her cool. “Sir, don’t you want to consider it for a while? After all, you’re still not familiar with our company’s art style. What if—”
“No need for that. I know what I want.” The latter sentence was purposefully said for Han Muzi to hear as his burning eyes were scorching her face. He was clear of what he wanted to do.
“Alright, sir. Please wait for a while as we prepare the contract. Have you brought your identification card?”
Ye Moxuan handed over his identification card, and Yan took it to print a copy. Han Muzi also stood up, and both of them went to prepare the contract.
Due to the lack of people in the company, Han Muzi had to do a lot of work herself. As she followed behind Yan, Yan gently bumped her elbow. “I don’t think you should come over. What can you do, seeing your hands’ condition?”
Han Muzi was startled after listening to her words as she stared blankly at her bandaged hands, which couldn’t move. She is right. What can I do with these hands? she thought, but she still stood up for some reason.
When Ye Moxuan first saw her, he could only focus on her delicate face, so he had forgotten to give her a thorough look. Now that she was standing, he finally had the chance to look at her properly.
Five years had turned her from an awkward beauty into a charming woman. Her face wasn’t as plain as it used to be; it was now covered with a thin layer of makeup. Although her clothing was casual, it still had a taste of fashion to it.
However, it was obvious that her outfit today was totally different from the outfit she wore when they met at Debao Restaurant. On that day, she was a refined woman oozing class and grace, while today, there was a youthful sense in her.
After the contract was done, Yan and Han Muzi went back to Ye Moxuan. “Mr. Ye, please take a close look at the contract.” Yan handed over the contract to him.
He didn’t even give it a careful look and just signed his name straight away on the contract. “Is it done now?”
Han Muzi was stunned as she nodded. She didn’t expect him to sign it right away without even giving the contract a look.
Back then… was he this resolute when he signed that agreement?
While Yan kept the contract away, she politely said, “It is all done. Thank you. Hope we have a pleasant collaboration.”
However, when Ye Moxuan reached out to shake her hand, she froze.
“Aren’t we having a pleasant collaboration?” he raised his eyebrows as he asked her slovenly.
She bit her red lips and slowly reached out her hand.
Ye Moxuan then finally saw the bandages covering her hands, and there were even strains of blood on it. After one glance, the scorn on his face disappeared completely as he squinted his eyes to focus on her hand. “What happened to your hands?” His sudden change of tone left everyone stunned, and even Yan couldn’t help but glance at him.
“It’s only a minor injury.” Han Muzi swiftly retracted her hand and smiled calmly. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ye. There are still blood stains on it, so I can’t shake hands with you.”
Listening to her, Ye Moxuan raised his eyelids and realized the indifference behind the woman’s eyes. It was obvious that she purposefully avoided him since she never wanted to shake his hand. However, he wouldn’t force it on her after seeing the injury on her hand.
After three seconds of silence, Ye Moxuan quirked up the corners of his mouth with a sense of mischievousness. “Alright. I believe our collaboration will be pleasant.”
He stressed on the word ‘pleasant’ with clenched teeth. Meanwhile, Yan, who was standing aside, twitched her nose as she smelled something fishy going on.
Later on, Han Muzi let Yan escort him down the building.
After Ye Moxuan left, Han Muzi sat down again. She wiggled her fingers and tried to lift the cup of coffee on the table before she realized that she couldn’t use her hands at all for the moment.
Forget it. I’ll go back home soon.
Very soon, Yan had sent Ye Moxuan off and came back upstairs. “Muzi, are you okay?”
Han Muzi sat still, as if not hearing a word she said.
Yan bit her lips and hesitated for a second before calling for her again, “Muzi?”
Then, Han Muzi came back to her senses and looked at Yan beside her. “What is it?”
“You drifted away,” Yan reminded her.
Han Muzi remained silent for a while before standing up and informing her, “If there aren’t other matters, I’ll be going back home now. You’ll be in charge of the company for the next two days.”
“It’s fine. You can count on me. I will discuss with you about some important matters, while you can just focus on healing your hands for now.”
“Alright.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 408
The Han residence.
Han Muzi reached home not long after, and she bumped into Han Qing, who was heading out.
“I thought you were going to stay at the company for the whole day.” His voice was cold, as were his displeasing eyes.
She staggered a bit and quickly put on a smile. “Why would I do that, Qing? I promised you that I will stay at home and have a proper rest, so I won’t disobey your wishes. It’s just that there was a client when I was leaving, so I went up and had a talk with him. I came back right after we made a deal.”
“What if you didn’t make the deal?”
“Qing?” she replied instinctively.
Then, Han Qing realized that he was being a little too stern on her, so he pinched the aching area between his eyebrows and said, “You really have to think for yourself. You already have a child now, so don’t let me worry about you anymore.”
His action suddenly had Han Muzi notice that her brother was tired. In the past, he would always silently take up everything, no matter what she did. Now, she finally realized that Han Qing was her older brother, who was already close to middle-age, but he still hadn’t…
Thinking about it, she lowered her eyelids and spoke gently, “Qing, I know you’d spent a lot of your time looking for me and trying to make up for my suffering during those years, but for the past five years, what you have done for me is enough. Maybe it’s time for you to plan for yourself in the future.”
Han Qing was startled after listening to her. “Muzi?”
“Qing, you need to find someone who’s going to take care of you. You can’t keep wasting your youth on me. Do you have someone in mind already?”
Han Qing then realized she was trying to find him a partner, but he wasn’t in the mood for it, so he frowned and answered, “We don’t need to rush on this. I have something to take care of at my company. Go have a rest.” He left afterward, while Han Muzi stood there, watching him leave.
While thinking about Yan’s love for Han Qing these past few years, she suddenly giggled. Actually… Yan’s strange personality really matches with this brother of mine, But the two of them rarely spent time together since we came back. What should I do?
All of a sudden, she was saddened by Han Qing’s life.
When she went back upstairs, Little Bean dashed over to hug her. “Mommy, don’t you need to spend more time at the company today?”
She looked at Little Bean snuggling in her arms and nodded. “I don’t. I can now spend the whole day with you.”
“Yay! Then can we go play some games, mommy?” Afterward, he saw her bandaged hands, and his face turned dejected. “Forget about it. Your hands are injured, mommy. Today, I’ll be reading you a story!”
Since her hands were injured, she could only hold her little body with her arms. “We’ll do whatever you want, my little darling.”
Therefore, Little Bean went to find a story book that Han Muzi bought and flipped a page to read the story to her while she just sat there and listened.
As she listened, her mind drifted far away.
After quite a while, she was brought back by the sound of Little Bean calling her. “Mommy. Mommy?”
She suddenly came back to her senses and looked at Little Bean in her arms. “I…”
Little Bean stared at her while lifting his face, which was no bigger than a palm, and blinked. “Mommy, are you unhappy?”
Am I unhappy? she wondered for a second before she came back around and smiled while shaking her head. “No, I’m not.”
“Really?” He put down the book on his hand and stood up to hold her face. “You must tell me if you are unhappy, mommy!”
“Alright.” She looked at the face that was similar to a particular person she was thinking of and lowered her body to pick Little Bean up. “I’ll tell you if I’m unhappy, Little Bean.”
…
In all fairness, Han Muzi’s injury wasn’t a serious one, so after a few days resting at home, her hands had mostly recovered. Her wound was starting to seal, which allowed her to be in contact with water, though she still needed to apply medicine on the wound. However, the only thing she needed to pay attention to was avoid being in water for too long, or else there would be scars.
After her injury was gone, she went back to work and sent over the final version to Lin Xinghuo, who was very impressed with the designs.
After everyone was in agreement, she let Yan take it away for production.
At the same time, Lin Qingqing also followed up on the progress of Han Muzi’s draft. Since Han Muzi promised to design for her personally, she apologized to her as her hands were injured for the past few days and assured her that she would be finishing her work in a couple of days.
Later on, Lin Qingqing straight away sent a text to her. ‘We haven’t met again after that day, and I happen to have a new inspiration. Why don’t we meet up at that restaurant again?’
That restaurant again? The place was close anyway, so Han Muzi straight up agreed with her suggestion.
After seeing that she agreed on the meet up, Lin Qingqing immediately sent a text over to Ye Moxuan, who was in her friend list. ‘Mr. Ye, are you free today? I would like to treat you to a meal along with the designer that I hired. Didn’t you want to meet her to design something for you? I also have a few things I want to discuss with her, so do you fancy meeting up together?’
The moment the text was sent, Lin Qingqing held onto her phone as her face heated.
She knew that this text of hers was too deliberate, as one could easily see her true intention, but she felt that she had already given a reasonable excuse in the text. Since she had decided to make Ye Moxuan his man, she needed to be more spontaneous so that she wouldn’t lose her chance.
When Ye Moxuan received her text, he immediately raised his eyebrows. Why is this woman so annoying? However, after reading her message, his gaze darkened while he held onto his phone with one hand.
If he wanted to ask Han Muzi out, he could very well do it himself, but…
Ye Moxuan suddenly let out a sly smile and replied an ‘OK’ back to her.
I’d like to see how long you can remain calm. I don’t believe that after five years of not seeing each other, you can still be this calm in front of me!
…
Debao Restaurant.
Lin Qingqing sat on her chair waiting, feeling excited like a bird. She had almost dressed herself as a butterfly before coming here.
After seeing Ye Moxuan accepting her invitation, she almost jumped in excitement.
After that, she felt that she had a chance at landing Ye Moxuan, so she spent a long time doing her makeup and dressing herself up.
Now, she was finally sitting in the restaurant, waiting for her dream man to come.
She started fantasizing that one day, Ye Moxuan would be moved by her and turn from an iceberg to a burning meteor, which would always bring warmth to her.
“Miss Lin.” The voice of a woman was heard from her back, so she turned over to see that Han Muzi was here.
“Shelly, you’re here. Come have a seat.”
Han Muzi gave her a smile and thought of sitting across from her before Lin Qingqing suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her over to sit beside her while grinning warmly.
Han Muzi was confused. What is going on? Isn’t it better to talk face to face? Why are we sitting next to each other?”
“It’s better for you to sit next to me. Somebody is coming later.”
Just as Han Muzi heard her, her face swiftly changed to an uncomfortable look. But before she said anything, Lin Qingqing pressed her finger on her own mouth and giggled softly. “It’s the man you met that day, Ye Moxuan.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 409
Han Muzi was left stunned after hearing what she said. She thought that the both of them were simply going to have a business talk, but she couldn’t imagine that Lin Qingqing had actually called him over.
She couldn’t understand her. According to Lin Qingqing’s shy face whenever she mentioned Ye Moxuan, she must have wished to meet with him alone. So why did she drag her over at this moment?
“I’m sorry, Shelly. You wouldn’t mind that I’ve called Moxuan over, right? I just remembered that he wanted you to design some clothes for him, so…”
“I don’t mind.” Han Muzi smiled. “He is now my client anyway.”
Hearing her, Lin Qingqing widened her eyes with surprise. “Really? I can’t believe he actually went to find you. I only handed him your namecard that day…” Thinking about it, Lin Qingqing lowered her eyes with shyness.
So it is true what Aunty Song said about Moxuan being cold on the outside but passionate on the inside? Although he didn’t look much impressed with me as his date, he actually paid attention to the namecard I gave him, and he even went to find Shelly himself! Does this mean he cares for me? Oh my god! How romantic! Lin Qingqing tried to hold on to her emotions.
Han Muzi—who had been sitting beside her the whole time—saw her bashful posture, and, for some reason, felt an emotion that she couldn’t explain. Why does it feel like I’m here as the third wheel?
The thought of being the third wheel to Ye Moxuan and Lin Qingqing immediately sent goosebumps all over Han Muzi’s body, but she quickly suppressed her feelings and stood still, emotionless. Her heart should be as peaceful as still water.
No matter who Ye Moxuan was with or what happened to him, she should turn a blind eye to it. After that incident five years ago, it would be insulting to her if she revealed any feelings of sadness and caring in front of him.
While thinking about it, Han Muzi’s expression turned even colder. Her skin was already fair, paired up with her delicate frame, makeup, and chilling looks, she was truly as cold and pure as snow.
While Lin Qingqing was bashing, she suddenly noticed Han Muzi’s face. For the moment, she finally realized that the woman beside her was a gorgeous one, and not the normal type of gorgeous; there was a sense of coldness oozing from her beauty, especially those pairs of eyes, which were like a bottomless ocean, sucking everything in its sight.
All of a sudden, Lin Qingqing became cautious. “Shelly, do you have a boyfriend?”
It wasn’t because she liked to gossip, but she had abruptly taken notice of Han Muzi’s beauty, so she became wary of her.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi turned to her side and saw the cautious look beneath her eyes. She immediately figured out the source of her wariness, so she smiled softly and uttered, “I have a kid.”
Just then, Lin Qingqing’s eyes widened as she covered her own mouth. “Oh, my god! You’re married? That’s unexpected. But, Shelly, you’re so young, and you actually have a kid already. I’m suddenly a bit envious of you, as I’m also reaching an age suitable for marriage.”
Han Muzi could only smile in response to her surprise.
About ten minutes later, another figure came into the restaurant.
When Ye Moxuan came in the door, everyone’s attention was drawn toward him. A handsome man always was the focal point no matter where he went, never mind Ye Moxuan, who was the pinnacle of a refined man.
After he came in, he used his hawk-like eyes to scan through the crowd, then it firmly locked onto that figure he had been dreaming about all this time.
She really came.
Ye Moxuan spread his slim legs and walked toward them.
“Moxuan, you’re here.” Han Muzi almost fell asleep while waiting, but Lin Qingqing’s sudden calling woke her up instantly. He is here?
She took a deep breath and readjusted her current posture. She came here today for work, so she didn’t plan to stay here for too long. As Ye Moxuan sat down in front of them while locking his eyes on her, Han Muzi right away lowered her head and opened the zip to her bag before taking out the documents inside.
“I’m happy to share with you two my designs today. Please tell me if you have any suggestions.” She took on her formal business demeanor.
Meanwhile, Lin Qingqing was startled. “Shelly, it’s now lunchtime. Why don’t we eat first and discuss this later on?”
Han Muzi’s face was detached from any emotion, but she still let out a faint smile and nodded. “Alright.”
She then kept away the documents, and the three of them ordered their meals.
Han Muzi wasn’t hungry, so she only ordered a glass of juice.
Lin Qingqing, on the other hand, didn’t want to lose to her in front of her dream man, so she also followed Han Muzi and only ordered a glass of juice.
At the end, Ye Moxuan was the only one who ordered something to eat.
Even while eating, his actions were so graceful that his gestures were oozing with natural nobility.
The combination of both his handsome looks and gesture caused Lin Qingqing to gaze at him intently. She had really chosen a perfect man.
After their meal, Han Muzi quickly took her documents out again. “May the two of you—”
“Miss Shelly, you really are passionate about your work,” Ye Moxuan snapped at her.
Han Muzi stopped her movement and lowered her eyes.
Lin Qingqing followed up with a smile. “Yes. Shelly is very focused with her work. Moxuan, have you seen her work before? It’s honestly good.”
“Thank you for your praise.” Han Muzi politely smiled at her.
During this meal, Lin Qingqing was the only one having a good time. However, Han Muzi had already jotted down the points she wanted to tell her, so she felt relieved afterward. There was no way she was going to entertain this kind of a ‘meal’ ever again.
She… really didn’t want to eat on the same table with Ye Moxuan once more.
“Since my work is done, I’ll leave now.” Finishing her words, she smiled and stood up to leave.
Suddenly, the man’s cold voice came to her ear from the back. “Shelly the designer, it seems like you’re a bit impolite. Am I not one of your clients? Don’t you think you should serve me too?”
The sudden change in the temperature of the surrounding shocked Lin Qingqing as she looked at Ye Moxuan. “Moxuan, what’s the problem?”
He ignored her as his eyes were locked onto Han Muzi’s slim back.
After a while, she turned aside and looked at him sideways. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ye. My work for today is to come and meet up with Miss Lin. You didn’t make an appointment with me today.”
“I see.” He calmly raised his eyebrows and tapped on the table. “Then I’ll make an appointment right now.”
“I’m sorry, but my appointments for today are full. Now, I’m on my way to my next client. Mr. Ye, please choose another time.” Han Muzi was still polite toward him as there weren’t any emotions in her voice.
Lin Qingqing was left stunned. She couldn’t believe Han Muzi rejected him.
From the conversation between the two of them, she could feel that something was brewing up, but Han Muzi’s face showed that she was a polite person. Could it be my imagination?
After Han Muzi left the restaurant, she went to the carpark to get the car.
She didn’t lie to him. She really had other things to be busy with right now, but it had nothing to do with the company’s clients; it was to help Little Bean search for a school.
When she reached her car, a dark figure suddenly came toward her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 410
Han Muzi’s expression changed as she was pressed on her car before she could even react.
The feel of the car behind her was cold, but in front of her was the burning chest of a man.
She wanted to cry for help, but a familiar scent stopped the words from coming out of her mouth while she stared dumbfoundedly at the man that was a few inches in front of her.
Ye Moxuan…
The man’s charming eyes hooked onto hers like a beast in the night, waiting for its prey; it was fiery and dangerous.
This was the first time they were this close since they ran into each other.
Her breathing began to tremble as she tried to suppress the frustration inside of her. “Mr. Ye, please behave yourself!” she warned coldly.
However, in her mind, she couldn’t help but think, At this time, wasn’t he supposed to be with Lin Qingqing in the restaurant? Why did he follow me?
Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan kept on staring at her while remaining silent.
Suddenly, he moved his head forward, as if he wanted to kiss her.
The moment he almost touched her, Han Muzi’s pupils shrunk, and she asked coldly, “What are you doing?”
He stopped all his movement, and there was only a small distance between their lips. It was so close that both lips would touch each other if he talked.
“Heh…” He made a low chuckling sound with his throat while his warm breath was poured all over her face.
Then, he grabbed onto her fair little chin and asked, “What am I doing? Can’t you see?” Han Muzi stopped breathing for a second. “I’m kissing you,” he added.
After he finished, Ye Moxuan really pressed his lips forward.
Immediately, Han Muzi turned her face aside in shock, and his soft lips landed on her face.
She couldn’t hold on to her cool anymore as a pit of rage started to burst from her beautiful cold eyes. She raised her hand and gave Ye Moxuan a slap on the face. Slap!
The slap wasn’t a soft one, as could be seen when Ye Moxuan’s face tilted after her smack.
Han Muzi was in anger as her chest pumped while she glared furiously at the handsome man in front of her. How could he do this? After five years, can’t we just peacefully live our own lives as strangers? Why did he need to provoke me like this?
After the slap, Ye Moxuan stood there silent with his face tilted aside. No one could decipher his true feelings through those black eyes of his.
All of a sudden, he let out a chuckle while staring at her mischievously. “Looks like you’re not always that calm, after all.”
He didn’t like it.
Ever since he ran into this woman, she had always been cold toward him.
He had thought of multiple possible scenes that could happen, but he never expected her to be so calm and collective. What did it mean to him? It meant that his presence meant nothing to her, and that was why she was so calm.
However, after seeing her face that was flushed due to anger and the vibrant emotions in her cold pair of eyes, Ye Moxuan finally felt that he did have an effect on her.
Han Muzi was already fuming at him, but after hearing his words, she realized that her emotions were derailed all because of him. Hence, she immediately stomped him right at his foot out of anger.
Since she was wearing high heels, Ye Moxuan’s expression clearly changed after getting stomped on, but he didn’t let out a sound. He merely locked his gaze onto her.
“This is just a warning. You won’t be this lucky next time.”
As she retracted her foot and prepared to leave, she heard him say, “Next time? So you’re already fantasizing about next time.”
Han Muzi staggered and almost fell down. I’m fantasizing? She then took a deep breath and snorted without even looking back at him. She opened the car door and went into the car while thinking, I must be crazy to argue with this bastard.
Stay calm!
Han Muzi tried a few times before finally inserting the car keys, and she then drove away from the carpark.
After she left, Ye Moxuan wiped the corner of his lips. The pain on his face cleared his mind in a way never like before.
All this time since seeing her, it felt like a dream.
For the past five years, she just simply disappeared, but now, she was back in front of him. It felt so unreal to him, like a fantasy dream that kept slipping away from his fingertips.
Her cold and indifferent look toward him made it feel more unreal to him.
Even today… when he pressed her on the car by her waist, he could smell the faint fragrance on her, feel his lips on her face, feel the pain of her slap, and her heels on his foot.
It all suddenly felt so real.
She really was real.
Even though he had been slapped, Ye Moxuan was actually smiling at the moment with his head lowered. That damn woman! Not only does she have better taste now, she has also gotten more fierce.
When Han Muzi drove away, she stepped hard on the pedal until a car came out of a junction to her front. She then came back to her senses and calmed herself down before driving at a normal speed.
As she stopped her car in front of a traffic light, she couldn’t stop herself from remembering what just happened.
Just like that, she was engulfed by the man’s strong and imposing manner, with his pair of burning palms sticking to her waist…
Immediately, Han Muzi shook her head to get rid of all this nonsense.
Now, she needed to focus on her driving.
After discussing with Han Qing about Little Bean going to school, he entrusted other people to find a suitable school. At the end, they had found two schools. Han Muzi thought that one of it was geographically suitable because it was close to her company. She was even thinking of converting the upper levels of her company to her house if it was unused, so that they could live there. However, after giving it a thought, she found it inconvenient to stay at her own company, so she planned to buy a house in a district near the school after they had decided on which school Little Bean should attend.
After spending a few hours to perfectly understand the school, Han Muzi went back to her company.
“So how is it? How is the school?” Yan knew Han Muzi was spending her time giving the school a look, so she quickly went to ask her a question when she came back.
Han Muzi placed her car keys on the desk and nodded faintly. “It’s not bad.”
“That’s great. Oh, right…” Yan let out a soft cough before placing the documents she was holding on the desk. “T-This is Mr. Ye’s contract. He has booked all of our company’s projects, but he hasn’t chosen his designer yet.”
Hearing Ye Moxuan’s name again, Han Muzi suddenly felt that he kept on lingering in her life. Yesterday, she signed a contract with him; today, they met in the restaurant; at the carpark, she was almost assaulted by him; now, Yan mentioned him to her again. He really was everywhere.
Han Muzi rubbed her forehead and said softly, “You’ll be in charge of this project. You’ll be responsible for communicating with the other party and let him choose any of our designers.”
“Including you?” Yan blinked.
“Except me.” Han Muzi lips tightened as she brought out her position for the first time. “I am the boss of this company.”
Yan remained silent, then she smiled and nodded in the end. “You’re the boss, so your decision is final. Then I’ll go contact him and let him choose from our company’s team of designers.”
