Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 431
Yan had known Han Muzi for years and understood her. She would never do something she was uncertain of, so she must have a reason for asking her to leave with Little Bean. As for the man upstairs, after being with Han Muzi for so long, Yan could roughly figure out who it was after she gave it some thought.
“Aunt Yan, are we not having the fancy meal?” Little Bean asked as he stared at her with his round eyes.
“We’ll have it some other day. Your mom has some sudden work issue, so we have to leave first.”
Little Bean’s eyes were glimmering as if light passed, but he finally nodded obediently and allowed Yan to put the hat on him. He then took her hand and they left together.
Ye Moxuan’s eyes fell on them. He only noticed that there was a child with Han Muzi when he saw them standing up. But he didn’t think much of it and just thought that the child could be her colleague’s. But for some reason, when the child left with Yan, Ye Moxuan’s gaze followed them. When they walked to the entrance, the little boy who was wearing a cap raised his head suddenly and half of his face was exposed. It was just one glance but Ye Moxuan’s face changed immediately. That kid…
Just then, those who went down pushed the door open and came in. The noise interrupted Ye Moxuan’s train of thoughts. He got back to his senses and stared at them coldly as if questioning them. Their faces changed a little as they stepped forward. “Y-Young Master Ye…”
They looked down and realized that the two people sitting next to the woman had already left. They were frightened and quickly explained, “We didn’t force them to leave. We just invited her up and didn’t mention anything else.”
“You told her about me?” Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrows.
“Of course not.” They waved their arms as they explained, “We just told her that there is a great man up here.” They then told him the whole process, including what Han Muzi said about him inviting her personally.
As they informed Ye Moxuan about this, they were also observing his expression. They were all thinking that if Ye Moxuan was displeased, they would give Han Muzi a piece of their minds. However, Ye Moxuan was expressionless and just maintained his cool self. They couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
One of them wanted to test him and therefore said angrily, “This woman is too much! Who does she think she is?! She wants you to go down personally. Young Master Ye, don’t worry; I’ll get someone to get her up right away.” With that, the man was about to wave his arms to order his people.
“Who told you to do that?” Ye Moxuan’s arrow-like gaze swept over him.
“Young Master Ye?”
The next second, Ye Moxuan turned his head and looked at Han Muzi through the window. His thin lips curved. She told me to go down and invite her in person?
I guess… that woman figured out who I am.
…
Han Muzi sat there for a while and watched as time passed. After surmising that Yan and Little Bean had probably left, she stood up and was about to leave too. She felt dizzy when she got up and almost fell forward. Luckily, she grabbed onto the chair’s handle and didn’t fall.
Han Muzi shook her head. It had been some time since she felt like this. It’s probably just temporary. I have to leave here quickly and get something to eat. As she thought about this, she hurriedly marched toward the door.
Just as she was about to reach the door, a figure blocked her way. “Where are you going?” A cold, male voice came from in front, prompting Han Muzi to to look at the person before her.
It is him! Ye Moxuan! I knew it. Who else could it be other than Ye Moxuan? Who would stare at me like that soon after I sat down? But Han Muzi didn’t have the time or the mood to fool around with him, because she hadn’t had food for the entire day and her stomach was starting to ache. She pressed her lips together and forced a polite smile.
“So it’s you, Mr. Ye. It’s such a coincidence to bump into you here, but I have something to do. I’ll treat you to a meal another day when there’s a chance.” With that, Han Muzi was about to leave, but when she walked past Ye Moxuan, he grabbed her wrist. “I’m here.”
Han Muzi’s steps paused and she looked at him in surprise.
Ye Moxuan turned around and his dark eyes stared at her face. “Didn’t you tell me to come to invite you personally?”
Han Muzi was speechless.
“Dinner upstairs?”
Han Muzi’s mouth twitched. She just said it casually to get rid of them so that Yan and Little Bean could leave. She never thought about actually going upstairs to eat. She then moved her lips and replied, “I think you misunderstood. I told you to invite me in person, but I didn’t say I would agree.”
Ye Moxuan squinted his eyes angrily as he heard that. “So, you were messing with me?”
“It was just a joke.” Han Muzi broke away from him and took a few steps back. She stumbled and almost fell back. But she managed to balance herself after a few steps and covered her stomach as her face turned pale.
Ye Moxuan instantly realized that something was wrong and assessed her. “What’s the matter?”
Han Muzi took a deep breath and tried to relieve the gastric pain as she stood there. She couldn’t waste any more time.
“It’s nothing. Just some problems I used to have.”
“What problem?” Ye Moxuan stared at her as if concerned about her.
Han Muzi smiled and didn’t explain to him. She just walked toward the parking lot while Ye Moxuan caught up with her after standing still for a while.
As she arrived at the parking lot, her gastric pain was getting more and more intense and her forehead was already covered with cold sweat. Is God messing with me or am I just too careless? Today’s gastric pain is different from the other days. Am I too hungry or is it because of the panic and anger?
She stumbled and tried to grab onto something, but she caught something warm instead. She turned around and saw Ye Moxuan’s cold, handsome face. She was grabbing onto his arms.
Han Muzi was startled and tried to retract her arms. “Why did you follow me?” she asked weakly.
Her face was much paler than before and her forehead was covered with a layer of cold sweat. She was in bad shape. Ye Moxuan frowned and couldn’t be bothered about anything else anymore. He just pulled her to him and asked her fiercely, “What’s wrong?”
“G-Gastric pain,” Han Muzi was shocked and answered weakly.
Just as she was done speaking, she was carried bridal-style from the side.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 432
Han Muzi felt light-headed and could only reach out to his neck as she was afraid to fall. The pain from her stomach made her face look paler. She bit her lower lip and looked at Ye Moxuan, who was right in front of her. “What are you doing?”
Ye Moxuan gave her a cold stare and turned around while carrying her.
As he was walking, Han Muzi could feel the vibrations from his chest and tried to push him away, but she had no strength at all. The acute pain from her stomach was draining her and she was about to pass out.
“What’s the point of acting so strong when you are in such pain?” Ye Moxuan’s voice sounded sullen, and his face was gloomy. His eyes that were looking at Han Muzi were filled with anger.
Han Muzi was stunned. Why is he so mad? When did I offend him again? She closed her eyes and said weakly, “My pain is my problem and it has nothing to do with you. Please just put me down.”
“Nothing to do with me? What can I do to let you share this burden with me?” Ye Moxuan sneered.
Han Muzi was speechless. What exactly does this guy want? Does he have to keep messing with me to be happy? She took a deep breath to relieve her pain, but the pain was still there and had worsened. Han Muzi didn’t want to talk to him and just retracted her arms from his neck. She then pushed his chest away quietly, trying to release herself from his embrace.
Looking at her, Ye Moxuan felt helpless. “You still want to struggle even in this state?”
“Let me go,” Han Muzi ordered. Although her voice was weak, it was determined and calm.
“Ha,” Ye Moxuan sneered. He didn’t let her go. Instead, he took her to his car, opened the door, and put her in the passenger seat. He then bent down to fasten her seat belt.
While he walked to the driver’s seat, Han Muzi tried to unfasten the seat belt to leave, but she found herself to be in so much pain that she couldn’t even lift her arms.
She had gastritis before and had stomach problems, but she had recovered after some rest. She didn’t expect it to start again, and this time, it was worse than ever before. What was more, her vision started to get blurry.
Ye Moxuan turned the steering wheel as he looked at her. Realizing that her face was pale and covered in a cold sweat, he stepped on the accelerator.
When they arrived at the hospital, Ye Moxuan reached out to unfasten her seat belt for her as he ordered coldly, “If you struggle again when we see the doctor, I will—” Before he could finish his sentence, Ye Moxuan realized that the woman before him had already passed out. His face changed, and he immediately carried her out before rushing toward the hospital.
Fifteen minutes later, Ye Moxuan finally managed to put Han Muzi down. The doctor glanced at Ye Moxuan. “Are you her boyfriend?”
Hearing that, Ye Moxuan was a little startled and shook his head, “No.” He then added, “I’m her husband.” When he said that, his gaze was glued onto Han Muzi’s face.
Han Muzi, who was lying there, was extremely pale. There was not the slightest bit of color on her face and he started to panic. He didn’t know what to do.
“Since you are her husband, you should take care of her. Don’t you know that she has serious gastritis?”
“Gastritis?” Ye Moxuan froze.
“What kind of husband are you? Your wife’s gastritis is very serious and you are only sending her to the hospital now? Does she eat very irregularly?”
As the doctor asked him this, Ye Moxuan realized that he knew nothing about Han Muzi’s life. What she ate for her three meals, or how; he knew nothing about these things. All he could remember was that she only ordered drinks when she went to the restaurant with Lin Qingqing. She left after drinking them and most of the time, the drinks were cold.
Ye Moxuan frowned as he recalled this. It must’ve been quite some time since she’s had gastritis. Since she knows about it, why does she still take cold drinks?
“Forget it. You don’t seem to know anything. I’m going to stop wasting my time on you. She will need to stay here to get an intravenous infusion. Prepare some light congee and feed her some when she’s awake. She’ll have to be hospitalized and observed for a few days.”
“Thank you.” The doctor left after Ye Moxuan thanked him.
He walked to the side of the bed and looked at Han Muzi who was still unconscious. His dark pupils were filled with distress. How has she been living for the past five years? How did her health get so bad? Originally… Ye Moxuan thought she took good care of herself as he saw how much she changed, but it turned out that… she had gastritis. Shouldn’t this be only happening to someone who doesn’t take good care of themselves or eat irregularly?
Suddenly, Ye Moxuan felt a vibration. He soon realized that it was the phone in Han Muzi’s bag that was vibrating. Without a second thought, he brought the bag over and took the phone out.
He was the one who fixed her phone, but after it was repaired, Xiao Su sent it back to her without asking for his permission. As such, he wasted a good opportunity to interact with her.
“Hello?”
When she heard the deep voice coming from the phone, Yan thought she heard wrong. She then looked at the number on the screen and only put it back next to her ears after confirming that it was the right number. “Y-You are?”
“Ye Moxuan.” He knew who it was because she was on her contact list. Besides, he remembered her as well, so he just told her his name.
Yan’s entire body shuddered as if being electrocuted. She instantly turned around to look at Little Bean who was next to her and quickly got out of the room to answer the phone. “M-Mr. Ye? Why is Muzi’s phone with you?”
“Is there a problem?” Ye Moxuan asked as he looked at Han Muzi who was still unconscious.
“I’m looking for Muzi. Tell her to answer the phone,” Yan gulped as she replied.
“She’s currently unavailable.” Ye Moxuan rejected her.
Yan’s eyes widened instantly. “U-U-Unavailable?” What does that mean? Yan was stupefied. Did Ye Moxuan do something bad to Muzi? Recalling the incident in the restaurant, Yan soon realized that the ‘great man’ those people mentioned was Ye Moxuan.
“Yes, just tell me what you want.”
“I-I actually…” Yan thought about it and asked, “I just wanted to ask her how she is? Did… you do anything to her?”
Hearing that, Ye Moxuan hissed, “She fainted. What do you think I could do to her?”
“Fainted?”
“Gastritis.”
“God! She hasn’t eaten anything all day and I was just worried about her gastritis relapsing back. This is just great!” Yan exclaimed.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 433
She hasn’t eaten all day? Ye Moxuan frowned as he peered at the unconscious woman. No wonder she has such a serious stomach ache. Looks like she doesn’t care for her body at all!
Yan realized she had let something slip when she was done talking, so she quickly kept her mouth shut and asked, “Mr. Ye, can you please notify me which hospital you’re at? I should go take a look.”
“No can do.” With those few words, Ye Moxuan ended the call.
Yan was left listening to the beeping sound from the phone. Damn! Ye Moxuan, you b*stard! Do you think you can do whatever you want as a client? You son of a b*tch! No wonder Muzi was unwilling to mind him. This man is too unreasonable! But then again… Yan gave it a thought with her lips closed. Even though Ye Moxuan is annoying, it is clear from our talk just now that he knew that Muzi lost consciousness and he doesn’t seem too happy about it. He must have been worried about her, right? He also didn’t deny that he is in the hospital. So does that mean he is in the hospital now?
Eventually, Yan sent a text over to him as she was still concerned. ‘Mr. Ye, may I ask whether Muzi is now under medical care?’ That was all she wanted to know.
Ding! Ye Moxuan replied to her in a flash; only one word appeared in his text. ‘Yes.’
Although the text was emotionless, Yan felt a huge relief after reading it. She then sent another text over to him. ‘Mr. Ye, I’ll leave Muzi in your hands for today then. Please keep her safe. If you ever need my help, feel free to call me.’
Ye Moxuan initially intended to ignore Yan, but after remembering what the doctor just said, he relayed the doctor’s words to her. Yan understood right away and went to prepare to come over. He also told her the name of the hospital for convenience’s sake.
When Yan reached the hospital, it was already midnight. The hospital was quiet and the medical equipment around was the only source of sound. Yan knocked on the door of the ward and went in. The equipment in the room was quiet and it was only Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi in there.
As Yan carried a thermos flask into the room, she made eye contact with Ye Moxuan’s cold gaze. In that instant, she could feel a chill roll down her spine. The expressions in this man’s eyes are really scary! She placed the thermos flask on the table and whispered, “Has she woken up yet?”
“Yes.” The sound came out from the deep of Ye Moxuan’s throat, but nothing followed it after. He sat beside the bed staring at the unconscious Han Muzi while Yan sneakily went over to take a peek at her.
Seeing her pale face, Yan knew that she was in bad shape. “How is she? Will she be fine?”
“She’s fine.” Ye Moxuan’s cold glance landed on her face, then he turned over to the thermos flask beside him and uttered, “It’s late. You should go home now.”
Yan’s mouth twitched as she replied stubbornly, “I’m here already, so I’ll stay and take care of her now. Mr. Ye… it’s sort of inconvenient for a man and a woman to be in the same room alone. Why don’t you go back first?”
Ye Moxuan didn’t answer her, but one could feel the atmosphere inside the room had changed the instant she uttered those words. Yan was so shocked that she had a big gulp. While she was hesitant about what to say next, a noise came from the door. She turned over and saw Xiao Su standing by the door.
As both of them stared at each other, Yan suddenly felt awkward. Why is Xiao Su here?
“Send her back,” Ye Moxuan coldly ordered without batting an eye.
“Yes, sir.” Xiao Su quickly nodded and turned to Yan. “Let’s go. It’s not safe this late in the night. I’ll send you back.”
Yan remained silent. Damn! I bet he planned all these after he told me the hospital’s address. He never wanted me to be here in the first place. He wanted Muzi all to himself!
After thinking about it, Yan took a deep breath and walked toward Ye Moxuan’s back. “Mr. Ye, although Muzi and you had crossed paths five years ago, the past is the past. Time flies and people change. I can choose to leave here now, but I also hope that you can respect others as well. Anyway, I’m still grateful to you for saving Muzi today. Please take good care of her. I’ll leave now.” As soon as she finished, Yan turned and went out of the ward without even noting Ye Moxuan’s reaction.
Xiao Su stood beside the door while listening clearly to every word she said. He was surprised as he realized that Yan’s view was the same as his. He too didn’t want for Han Muzi to be close to Ye Moxuan. Both of them hoped that the person important to them wouldn’t be hurt. But in the end, between Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi, who was close to whom and who was the one hurting the other?
“After disappearing for five years, why come back all of a sudden? If you wanted to go, then you should never come back here. Am I right?” As Yan was about to enter the car after reaching the car park, she suddenly heard Xiao Su’s words. She remained stationary and turned around to glance at Xiao Su, who was standing under a street lamp.
“Are you serious?” Yan couldn’t believe the words Xiao Su uttered while she stared at him and continued, “Are you sure you’re not joking?” Xiao Su merely looked back at her indifferently without making a sound. “Is this place your territory? Why can’t we come back? Furthermore, what does our coming and going have to do with you at all?” She looked at Xiao Su amusedly. “Just hear how stupid you sound.”
Xiao Su seemed to realize he had spoken wrongly. “Maybe you think that I’m being harsh. But don’t you think what you said to our Young Master Ye just now was harsh too?”
“Harsh? How was I harsh? Xiao Su, what happened to your mind after these five years? Can’t you see that it is your Young Master Ye who won’t let go of Muzi? How is this our fault?” Yan became angrier the more she spoke. “North City is our home. We don’t need anyone’s permission to come home. If you think that we are appearing in front of you all on purpose, then I suggest you try gouging your eyes out!”
Xiao Su was left speechless.
After Yan was done, she turned away to leave.
Xiao Su’s face changed and he went after her. “It’s late. Let me send you back home. It’s not safe on the road.”
“Pfft! I feel less safe being with people like you. I can call a cab myself. There’s no need to bother you!”
Xiao Su then realized his words had provoked her, so he ran to stop her hurriedly. “I’m sorry; I’m not that good with my words, but I can see you only wanted to protect Muzi and I also hope that Young Master Ye won’t get hurt. We have the same intentions; we’re just going about it in different ways. It is too late at night now; I understand you are angry at me, so let me make up for it by sending you back home.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 434
Make it up to me? As Yan glanced at Xiao Su and saw the sincerity in his eyes, she realized that he was truly apologizing to her.
What he said made sense; both of us are on opposing sides, so we can’t help but have a go at each other. However, Yan still thought that he had crossed the line with what he said tonight, so she didn’t give a reply.
Xiao Su was afraid she would walk away out of rage, so he lowered his tone and softly pleaded, “I sincerely apologize to you. Would you get in the car now?”
If I’m still angry at him, wouldn’t it seem like I’m a petty person? Forget it. I’m not like them anyway. Giving it a thought, Yan went to his car. Xiao Su let out a sigh of relief and a trace of a smile appeared on his face.
…
In the hospital, only the sound of medical equipment could be heard as Ye Moxuan sat beside the bed like a statue with his eyes locked on to Han Muzi’s face.
All of a sudden, Han Muzi’s eyelashes twitched like she was about to wake up.
The motionless Ye Moxuan was stimulated by the trembling of her eyelashes, thereupon he sat up straight.
Han Muzi had been unconscious for a long time, so when she first opened her eyes, the bright lights in the room prevented her from opening them wide. Just as she was about to adapt to the brightness, a ‘click’ sound was heard when someone turned off the lights. A dim desk lamp far away from her was now the only light source.
Now, she could peacefully open her eyes and the first thing she saw was a slim silhouette.
“You’re awake?” The chilly voice of a man was heard above her. Then, she saw the handsome face of Ye Moxuan and his cold lips that uttered those icy words.
She twitched her lips, wanting to say something but not having the strength to do so.
In the next second, a pair of hands went over to help her up and placed two pillows behind her so that she could sit up comfortably. “Drink some water.” Ye Moxuan passed her a glass of water, urging her to drink.
Han Muzi looked at the delicate hand close to her and shook her head in resistance. She didn’t want to drink it.
“Huh.” Ye Moxuan chuckled, “What is it? Did you want to fetch the water yourself now that you’re so frail?”
Han Muzi was speechless. Her lips had turned pale as she stubbornly maintained her stance.
Seeing her like this, Ye Moxuan felt helpless. After a while, he spoke in a low voice, “Five years have passed, and I thought that your temper might change, but you’re still as temperamental as before. What good can your stubbornness bring to you?”
While silent, Han Muzi lifted her eyes and glared at him.
Then, Ye Moxuan intentionally held the glass of water beside her lips. “Do you want to drink it or not?”
Alas, she drank it. Anyhow, she didn’t have any strength left, so if he wanted to stay and take care of her then so be it.
After she drank the water compliantly, Ye Moxuan’s heart didn’t feel empty for once. The woman had a strong personality—even when she was this sick, she was still so headstrong. However, it was clear she couldn’t hold this facade for too long.
After she drank about half the glass, her stomach started to feel uncomfortable, so she frowned slightly.
“That’s enough.” Ye Moxuan took away the glass and placed it on the bed-side table. “Yan brought you some congee. Do you want to have some?”
The sound of Yan’s name prompted her to raise her head and look into Ye Moxuan’s eyes curiously. “You contacted her? Did she come by?”
He squinted his eyes and came close to her until both of their breaths merged. “Why so nervous?”
“N-Nothing.” Han Muzi’s eyes lowered as her long lashes concealed her emotions.
She was nervous; she was afraid Ye Moxuan would find out about Little Bean. Both of them looked so similar that she didn’t know what Ye Moxuan would do if he saw him.
The thought of it was so inconceivable that Han Muzi decided to protect Little Bean at all cost. But… he lives in North City too. Does that mean we are going to constantly bump into each other while going on with our lives? All of a sudden, an idea came to her mind. I should send Little Bean abroad or to a neighboring city for his education. But… Little Bean is so dependent on me. It would be very lonely for him if I sent him away to a neighboring city, never mind abroad. Ugh… This plan won’t work.
“What are you thinking of?” Han Muzi suddenly came back around after hearing Ye Moxuan’s voice. “Do you have an unspeakable secret?” He gave her a thorough look with his squinted eyes as if he wanted to get something out of her face.
Han Muzi was startled for a second and replied, “Mr. Ye, if you think I have some unspeakable secret, then, by all means, search it out yourself.”
Her calm demeanor staggered Ye Moxuan, but he didn’t follow up with anything. He instead went to grab Yan’s thermos flask, which contained the warm congee, and handed it over to Han Muzi. “Have some.”
Han Muzi was so hungry that she couldn’t feel her stomach anymore, so seeing the congee now didn’t give her any appetite to eat. She gave it a faint look before retracting her eyes and said, “I don’t want it.”
Listening to her, Ye Moxuan’s expression changed slightly. “You don’t want to eat?”
She didn’t answer him. She just fell back and lay down to try to sleep.
Ye Moxuan had a look at the plain congee in his hand. Not a lot of people would find this congee appetizing as there was nothing in it. However, she had a stomach problem now, so what else could she eat other than congee?
“Are you trying to starve yourself to death?” For some reason, Ye Moxuan’s tone became mean as he held onto Han Muzi’s wrist. “Come eat this first before you go to sleep.”
Meanwhile, Han Muzi regained a bit of her strength so she started to struggle. “Let me go. I don’t want to eat.”
“How can your stomach handle it after not eating all day? Do you think you’re a machine?” Ye Moxuan’s tone turned bad along with his sharp eyes. He was no match for this woman’s ability to drive others mad.
Han Muzi gave up speaking to him. She just wanted to withdraw her hand, but the strength she had was never going to overpower Ye Moxuan, especially since she was currently sick. To him, her strength was like a kitten’s.
At first, Ye Moxuan was filled with rage but when he felt the force exerted on him, he lowered his gaze onto Han Muzi. Her expression, while lying there, was a serious one and she only had one thing on her mind—to pull her hand back. She was like a child throwing a tantrum.
All of a sudden, his rage was put out and was replaced by a layer of gentleness. Ye Moxuan, what are you doing fighting a sick woman? What is there to be angry about? She is just throwing a tantrum since she is feeling sick because of her stomach.
After giving it a thought, both his eyes and voice couldn’t help but soften. “Just have a bit of it. Okay?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 435
The sudden change in Ye Moxuan’s tone stunned Han Muzi as she glanced toward him. What’s wrong with this man? All of a sudden, he’s acting like this! This is so weird. She pulled her hand back without answering but Ye Moxuan reached out to her to help her up again. Even though his movement was gentle, he didn’t accept any refusal.
Han Muzi remained silent while she stared at him with eyes filled with rage.
Even so, Ye Moxuan didn’t feel the fury inside of her while he held a bowl in one hand and a spoon in another. He scooped a spoon of congee and tried to feed her himself. “Quit looking at me. Eat the congee.”
His words almost sent her flying into a rage, but unfortunately, she was in a bad shape so she couldn’t raise her voice. “Who’s looking at you?” How am I staring at him? What does he know?
Looking at her throwing a tantrum, Ye Moxuan’s eyes were filled with more joy. These few days had been surreal for him ever since he saw her; he never expected that her sickness would bring the two of them closer together. He then whispered to her, “Alright. You’re not looking at me, but can you just eat the congee?”
His words startled Han Muzi again. Did I hear him right? Why is there a sense of caring within his voice? When she looked at his expression, it was one of wanting to please her. Is he being nice to me because he wants me to eat the congee? Why? Is it because he is worried about me? Why would he be? He is already a married man. Why would he do these things? Confused about the situation, Han Muzi bit her lips as she refused to drink from the spoon beside her mouth.
Minutes passed and Ye Moxuan remained in that position, but Han Muzi still wouldn’t eat it. They were at an impasse.
After a while, Ye Moxuan helplessly put down the bowl. “What is your problem?”
Han Muzi stubbornly looked at him. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that?” She sneered at him, then had a look at the clock above. “It’s late, Mr. Ye; I don’t think you should leave your wife waiting for you at home for too long.”
Ye Moxuan was startled as he fell into deep thought. Looks like this woman hasn’t realized that we’re still aren’t divorced. That’s why she said those words. But… from the way she said it, it seems like…
“Mr. Ye.” Han Muzi articulated her words. “I don’t know what’s going on in your mind that made you decide to stay and I’m grateful to you for sending me to the hospital, but can you not stay here any longer—mmph!” Before she finished her words, someone pinched her chin and forcefully turned her around. Her sight went black afterward as she was kissed on the lips by a man.
For a moment, Han Muzi stared at the man a few inches away from her, not knowing how to react. Once the kiss was done, Ye Moxuan pulled back his lips as his breath turned scorching. “I want to stay here. What can you do about it?”
While Han Muzi’s pupils constricted, she came back around and raised her hand to slap him, but was caught by his hand and was unable to break free.
“What are you trying to do?” After being kissed, her pale lips reddened slightly, but her face turned paler than before, as though she had just experienced a traumatic shock.
“I’m not trying to do anything. I just want you to finish this congee.” Ye Moxuan was still persistent about the congee.
“Will you leave if I finish?” Han Muzi stared at him while wiping her lips.
Ye Moxuan didn’t reply to her, and Han Muzi said nothing afterward. She reached out to grab the bowl and looked up to prepare to eat the congee.
Ye Moxuan used his hand to stop her. “Don’t finish it in such a hurry.” She had a stomach problem and had just woken up, so it wouldn’t be good for her stomach if she drank it too quickly.
Han Muzi stopped; she couldn’t believe his thoughts were the same as Yan’s. Did Yan tell him this beforehand? She knew I was here and left me here alone, not to mention that she also taught this man such crucial information. How disloyal can she be?
Every time Han Muzi had stomach problems, Yan would always cook a bowl of congee for her. However, she didn’t like the taste of the plain congee, so she would always try to finish it in a big gulp, but was always stopped by Yan.
Nevertheless, she slowly drank the congee, one sip at a time. After she was done, Ye Moxuan went over to retrieve the bowl. “Sit for a while, then rest,” he said to her coldly.
Han Muzi then looked at him in surprise. “Aren’t you leaving?” She was starting to regain her strength.
“Leaving” Ye Moxuan frowned and sneered. “Who’s going to take care of you after I leave?”
“Mr. Ye! It’s not appropriate for a man and a woman to be in a room alone. I will call someone over to take care of me after you leave.”
As he heard this, Ye Moxuan’s eyes flickered and he went close to her. “We’ve already kissed. What could be more inappropriate than that?”
“You!” Han Muzi bellowed.
Ye Moxuan let out a chuckle. “Have a good sleep. Call me if you’re still uncomfortable.”
There was another bed in the ward for the patient’s family members. Ye Moxuan went to lock the door before lying down on the bed. Although both beds were separated by a small distance, Han Muzi could still feel his aura engulfing her. It might be because of that kiss just now, that she could still feel his unrelenting presence all around her. She bit on her lips out of annoyance.
She didn’t want to stay in the same room with a married Ye Moxuan, but he was unwilling to leave. She then slowly closed her eyes, having made a decision.
At midnight, the doctor came over to check on her and confirmed with her that she didn’t have any other symptoms before leaving again.
At first, Han Muzi found it hard to sleep but she started dozing off after midnight, quickly falling asleep.
It was already day time when she woke up. However, the room was quiet as Ye Moxuan was nowhere to be seen. She froze for a while then removed the blanket to sit up.
Compared to yesterday, her stomach was feeling better today. She gave her surroundings a look, then she put on her shoes and went to the washroom.
The moment she opened the washroom door, the familiar face of Ye Moxuan appeared in front of her. Due to a night of accompanying her, his eyes were surrounded with dark circles and at this moment, there were droplets of water on his face. Even so, he was still as handsome as ever.
Han Muzi immediately looked away.
“You want to use the washroom?” Ye Moxuan asked her without waiting for her to speak.
She nodded her head while remaining silent.
Ye Moxuan moved aside and helped her to open the door. “Go on then. Be careful. Does your stomach hurt? Are you still dizzy?”
He asked a series of questions, but Han Muzi just walked in and quickly slammed the door shut, leaving him on the other side of the door.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 436
When Han Muzi came out of the washroom, Ye Moxuan was right outside. She frowned and went over to her bed. She then saw her phone lying on the desk, so she picked it up and realized that someone had cracked her password. She immediately turned around to face the culprit. “You did this?”
Naturally, Ye Moxuan knew what she was talking about, so he ignored her question and went to grab her phone. “Are you hungry? I’ve ordered someone to cook for you. You—”
“Ye Moxuan! Why did you look into my phone? And you even cracked my password? Don’t you know how immoral that is? Who gave you the right to do this? Believe it or not, I can sue you for this!” Han Muzi shoved him away and took back her phone. Afterward, she took a few steps back until her back was glued to the icy wall while she continued berating him.
“Sue me?” Her resistance evoked a frown on his face, then he smiled in a self-deprecating manner. “I’ve guarded you for the whole night and this is the thanks I get? Woman, don’t you have any heart?”
Han Muzi was speechless while staring at him.
Ye Moxuan then continued, “How was I able to text Yan to bring over the congee if I don’t crack your phone’s password? In your mind, am I one of those people who only want to look at the secrets on your phone? I, Ye Moxuan, am not that shallow!”
She didn’t follow up with him, but his words touched her heart. At first, she was in a rage after realizing Ye Moxuan cracked her password and she didn’t give much thought as to why he did this. Now that Ye Moxuan had explained himself, she suddenly felt that she was the one being unreasonable. But… I don’t think I was wrong. Ye Moxuan is married and I’ve just spent the night with him in this ward. Even though he didn’t mind it, Han Muzi’s heart couldn’t accept it.
Thinking about it, she remained silent and called Yan right away.
“Muzi?”
“Come pick me up at the hospital, then help me with the discharge procedures. Also, please bring over some clothes for me to change into.”
Yan didn’t ask any questions after listening to her cold voice and swiftly nodded. “Alright. I’ll be there in a jiffy.”
After she ended the call, Han Muzi promptly walked past Ye Moxuan to exit the room. She thought it was wiser to finish the procedures before Yan arrived.
Before she reached the door, Ye Moxuan came up to her and asked, “Where are you going?”
Han Muzi ignored him and continued walking away.
“Huh.” He suddenly let out a cold chuckle and reminded her, “If you’re really in a hurry, then you should put on your shoes before leaving.”
Listening to his words, Han Muzi stopped in her tracks and lowered her head to see that she was indeed standing bare-foot on the chilly floor. Just when she drifted away, her whole body was suddenly lifted by Ye Moxuan, and he went back into the room with her in his arms. She froze but quickly reacted after regaining her composure. “Let me go!”
Ye Moxuan’s face was detached from any emotions as he put her down on the bed and brought over her shoes. “Wear them.”
Han Muzi bit on her lips and glared at him. This b*stard is extremely annoying!
Even though she was glaring at him, Ye Moxuan felt that she had a love-hate feeling for him. Later, Ye Moxuan couldn’t hold himself back, so he pressed her on the bed with both his hands clasping her shoulders. “Why are you looking at me like that? Don’t you know that a look like that will drive a man crazy?”
He didn’t kiss her, but he was already close enough that his breath could engulf her face. This proximity didn’t accelerate Han Muzi’s pulse at all, instead, it increased the shame inside of her. She closed her eyes and her slightly pale lips trembled. “Ye Moxuan.” Her voice was shivering as her eyelashes twitched gently. “If you’re trying to humiliate me, then congratulations—you’ve succeeded.”
Ye Moxuan was left dumbfounded. Humiliate her?
“What do you mean?” he asked while pinching her chin.
Han Muzi widened her cold eyes. “You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
The room suddenly went silent, and Ye Moxuan could see the disgust in her eyes. Indeed. It was disgust—her disgust for him. It wasn’t hatred. It was pure disgust.
Ye Moxuan suddenly became frustrated with this realization. Why? Why would she be disgusted with me after all I’ve done lately? Ever since he first met her, he always subconsciously tried to get close to her. He kept following his heart, doing everything his heart told him to. Did I do something wrong?
Ye Moxuan tightened his lips. “Tell me what you mean.”
“I want to terminate our contract.” Compared to Ye Moxuan’s frustration, Han Muzi’s voice was much calmer. “Is that clear enough for you?” While Ye Moxuan was stunned, Han Muzi pushed him away and left right after putting on her shoes. He was left lying on the bed.
She went to carry out the discharge procedures and didn’t pay much attention to what the doctor said. She didn’t go back to her ward after she was done; instead, she sat in the corridor, waiting for Yan.
Yan didn’t disappoint her, for she reached the hospital in a flash. Seeing her sitting on a chair in the corridor, Yan was curious. “Muzi, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be in your ward?”
Han Muzi took over the bag that Yan was holding which contained her clothes, and went over to the ward. Yan followed closely behind her. When they went into the room, it was empty—there was no sign of Ye Moxuan.
“Oh, where is Ye Moxuan?” Yan asked curiously when she entered.
“I think he’s gone,” Han Muzi replied to her and went into the washroom to change.
As soon as she came out, Yan had already placed the food she brought on the table. She used to take care of Han Muzi, so she knew exactly what she should eat when she was having stomach problems.
“Come and have some breakfast,” Yan called her and she came over to sit. However, Han Muzi didn’t have any appetite when she looked at the food on the table. But she knew she had to eat eventually, so she picked up a pair of chopsticks.
“These are all mine. You can’t eat these.” Yan placed her food on the table. Han Muzi gave it a once-over and noticed that it was mostly fried food. She remained silent for a while and said, “You did this on purpose, right? You know that I can only eat light food while my stomach hurts, so you purposefully bought all of this fried food to eat in front of me.”
Yan looked pleased with herself as she put a piece of fried golden dumpling into her mouth. She even made some noise while chewing on the food. “Oh my, this is so delicious! I bought this from a new shop. Looks like I’ll be visiting them more often now.”
Han Muzi was speechless.
“Do you envy me now? Tsk, poor girl, always getting the stomach aches. I bet you know how miserable you are now! Do you still want to be so headstrong in the future and not eat all day? You can’t interrupt yourself when inspiration comes, right? Let’s see if you can still stand after collapsing like that. Huh!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 437
Han Muzi put down the bowl and chopsticks she was holding and her face darkened. “You went too far this time.”
“If you don’t take care of your body, then I’ll go even further next time. Don’t believe me?” Yan also put down her chopsticks and looked at her with a stern face.
Her face was serious, and it was clear she wasn’t joking. “Let me tell you this, Han Muzi. You can draw as much as you like when inspiration comes, but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want, especially with your body, and sit there drawing all day without eating. Who do you think you are? You’re just being irresponsible!
Don’t forget you have a child. Do you think that your body is made out of metal? Or do you think that your body is indestructible? Gastric disease is a serious matter, yet you treat it like it’s no big deal. If you died one day because of this, I’ll run away with Little Bean. Just don’t be sad when I hand him over to someone else.”
Han Muzi remained silent. Yan went a bit overboard with what she said, but… Han Muzi couldn’t get angry about it. She even felt that Yan was right.
While imagining how Little Bean might have waited for her at home last night, she thought of his tiny body lying on the side of the bed with his lonely little face. It was heartbreaking to her. Han Muzi said nothing. She just picked her chopsticks back up and quietly continued eating.
Seeing her like that, Yan couldn’t help but sneer, “You finally got your head straight, eh? Let’s see if you’d dare to do this again in the future!”
“Queen Yan, I know I was wrong. Can you please put away these foods now? I can’t stand it anymore.” Han Muzi pleaded.
“Hmph! I originally planned to torture you more, but seeing how pitiful you look now, I’ll let you off the hook this time.” Yan put away the aromatic fried foods when she was done talking.
After they were done with their meal, they came out of the hospital together.
“Is it fine for you to leave the hospital after just one day in your condition? Don’t you want to stay for a few more days?” Yan asked while walking along with her.
Han Muzi shook her head. “No. I have other things to attend to.”
It was Mr. Nan who sent Yan over to the hospital, so he was waiting for them outside. They called him over and got into the car.
While in the car, Han Muzi suddenly thought of something and asked in a deep voice, “How much money do I have left?”
Yan was startled when she heard this. She thought she had heard wrongly, so she reached out to dig her ears. “What did you just say?”
Han Muzi turned to her and asked again, “How much money do I have left?”
Yan broke out into laughter as she looked at her. “Are you joking? What ‘money’ do you have?”
Han Muzi frowned.
“Alright, you still have a bit of money left. But aren’t you planning to buy a house near the school? I don’t think you can afford the expensive prices there. Now, there’s money in the company, but those are company funds. Unless—”
“No.” Han Muzi cut her off before she could finish. “We can’t use the company’s money.”
“What’s wrong with you? That money is enough for you to afford a house. Why are you asking me this so suddenly?”
Han Muzi glimpsed at Yan and let out a shocking statement. “I want to terminate the contract.”
“What?” Yan couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “T-Terminate the contract? What do you mean? Are you talking about terminating Ye Moxuan’s contract?”
“Yes.” Han Muzi took out her phone. “So, I want to calculate how much we need to compensate him if we terminate the contract.”
“I told you since the start to terminate the contract, didn’t I? Only now do you see where I was coming from? Looks like you have been unnecessarily taken advantage of, and also wasted these few days of hard work!” Yan wasn’t strongly opposed to terminating the contract, even though it would cost them a fortune; she chose to respect Han Muzi’s choice. This was how they remained good friends after all this time—they understood each other.
“Hand it over to me. You’re still recovering from your sickness. I’ll calculate it when I get back and tell you the exact amount after.”
“Alright.” Han Muzi nodded as she put away her phone. “Oh yeah. Little Bean…”
“Don’t worry. I handed him over to your brother. We can go pick him up later this evening.”
“I see.”
When they reached the company, Han Muzi still felt a bit dizzy, so she almost fell when stepping out of the car. Fortunately, Yan was there to help her up. “Are you alright? Why don’t you just call it a day?”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head. “We need to terminate the contract today.”
Yan felt helpless but she just quietly helped Han Muzi into the building. When they entered the building, they bumped into Lin Zheng, who had just arrived for work. The young man was wearing a white shirt; his face was ice-cold and devoid of any emotions.
When he saw Han Muzi, his lips twitched, but he said nothing and just walked over. His legs were long which allowed him to walk at high speed. A second later, he passed them.
“Tsk, this Lin Zheng is annoying. He always looks like someone owes him money. Does he think he’s an ice cube?”
Han Muzi smiled. “Don’t mind him.”
“You have such a good temperament.”
The two of them thought they couldn’t make it to the elevator, so they decided to wait for the next one since there were only a few floors. However, the young man inside the elevator kept pressing the button to keep the elevator doors open while glancing at them coldly. “Can you hurry up?”
They were stunned for a while and quickly got in.
After they went in, Han Muzi leaned her back on the elevator’s wall to reduce her pressure on Yan. On the other hand, Yan stood still and peered at Lin Zheng. “You are not as cold as I expected.”
Lin Zheng ignored her as if she was air.
Yan glared at him and didn’t continue talking while the elevator went up. Soon after, Lin Zheng exited the elevator, but before that, he gave Han Muzi a quick look and promptly walked out.
After the door closed, the elevator continued ascending.
“He just took a peek at you, and he seemed like he was trying to say something. Is there a problem?” After what she said, Han Muzi also noticed it and blinked her eyes. “I’m not sure. But don’t worry about it. If there is a problem, somebody will inform us.”
“You’re right, that Xiao Yiyi, in particular, follows Lin Zheng around a lot. We’re here now; I’ll go fetch the contract to see how much we should compensate.”
Yan went out in a hurry while Han Muzi slowly followed her out of the elevator. She lowered her eyes as her long eyelashes concealed her emotions. After I’m done with this contract, I won’t have anything to do with him anymore, right?
She let out a huge sigh of relief when the thought of never meeting him again came to her mind. But… she still felt empty in the depths of her heart.
As she thought about this, Han Muzi let out a laugh. What am I thinking about? The man is already married. I am the only one that’s still single… like a lonely fool.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 438
When Han Muzi went back to her office, she sat down, but her head still felt heavy. It might be because she fainted yesterday, so she used her hands to press on her temples. Although she felt better afterward, the gastric pain she endured this time seemed more serious than before and even lingered until now. Is it because of him?
As she sat there, Yan came in. She came in holding a stack of documents, then she pulled over a chair and sat beside Han Muzi. “I’ve calculated it. According to our contract, no matter which party decides to terminate it, we will need to pay up to three times the compensation fee. If it’s only just one order, then we wouldn’t need to pay so much, but Mr. Ye took up all of our company’s orders. So… the compensation fee may exceed our expected budget.”
Han Muzi kept quiet for a while before asking her, “How much do we need to pay?”
Yan looked at her and let out a gentle cough. “I did a rough count, and after paying the compensation fee, we will probably have only a few ten thousand left.” After she was done, Yan looked like she was about to cry as she held onto her face. “If we had known this would happen, we should have just thrown him out when he first came to us. Ugh… Now we’re going to be broke!”
Only a few ten thousand left after payment? Han Muzi perked up the corners of her mouth. “That’s fine. I thought we didn’t have enough.”
After hearing what she said, Yan widened her eyes in shock. “Are you kidding me? We’ve just lost a ton of money and you’re saying it’s fine. I thought—”
“Is there anything happier than finally getting rid of him?” Han Muzi smiled and continued, “Alright, you go prepare for this and contact our lawyer to see how we should deal with this.”
“Okay then, I’ll get right to it.”
…
Because of the compensation fee, Han Muzi and Yan didn’t bother viewing any more houses.
However, if she was willing to, she could just go to Han Qing for his help. From Han Muzi’s point of view, her brother had done so much for her already. Before this, she quietly accepted his help because if her brother wanted to make it up to her, her refusal of his help would make him feel even more guilty. Instead of letting his heart drown in guilt, why not let him redeem himself?
Even so, it didn’t mean that she was a dependent person. She was always afraid that if she kept receiving help from others, she would eventually become a useless person. That was why she had been working hard for the past few years, even though the whole Han Family was supporting her.
She also didn’t like to constantly use the ‘Han’ name to look for job opportunities. She was always dependent on herself, as shown in the current situation where she decided not to find Han Qing and instead work hard to earn money herself to buy a house. Even if she wasn’t able to afford it under her current circumstances, she could always get a loan from the bank.
At noon, Han Muzi gave the draft she drew yesterday a few adjustments and sent a text to Lin Qingqing, asking her to come over and have a look at it.
Lin Qingqing quickly replied to her, saying that she would come over when she was free.
A few minutes after receiving the text, Yan pushed open the office door and came in. “Muzi, I have some good news.”
“What is it?” Han Muzi lifted her eyes at her.
“Lin Xinghuo’s dress is done now. They have sent it over to the company. I placed it in the showroom on level six.”
Listening to her, Han Muzi’s eyes relaxed. There was finally something to be happy about. She then smiled and said, “I’ll go take a look. Give Lin Xinghuo a call to inform her.”
“No problem.”
Afterward, Han Muzi went out of the office alone to go see the design on the sixth floor. On the way there, she suddenly thought of something and turned toward the staff floor.
When Han Muzi came to the staff floor, everybody went quiet. After a while, they reacted and someone whispered, “Miss Muzi is here.”
At first, everybody despised her, but ever since they saw the information found by Leng Yueyue and realized that Han Muzi was the winner of the Lotus Award, their view of her changed drastically.
When Leng Yueyue saw her, she quickly stood up and her expression changed. “W-Why are you here?”
Usually, when I come here, these people will ridicule me. Why are they so compliant today? “I’m looking for you.” Han Muzi’s eyes landed on Leng Yueyue for a while, then she looked elsewhere.
Leng Yueyue stuttered with her eyes widened in disbelief, “L-Looking for me?” Back then, she definitely would have scorned Han Muzi, but now… after knowing of her true identity, she realized that she couldn’t shun her anymore.
“Yes.” Han Muzi nodded with a somewhat friendly look. “Come with me,” she said softly.
Everyone else looked toward Leng Yueyue in suspicion. She was shocked inside, but she didn’t express it. After she calmed down, she walked out.
Han Muzi turned and walked into the elevator with Leng Yueyue in tow.
“W-Why are you looking for me?” Leng Yueyue couldn’t hold on to the question much longer after entering the elevator.
“Don’t you want to see the product of your design?” Han Muzi stood still with a cool demeanor.
Listening to her, Leng Yueyue staggered. Only after a while did she come back around. “Is the end product done?”
“Yes.”
All of a sudden, she became excited. This was the first product designed by her since coming to the company, and… it was designed for the award-winning actress, Lin Xinghuo, to wear at the press conference.
Thinking about it, she became even more excited. “Of course I want to see it!”
“It’s at the showroom on level six. Let’s go.”
Ding! At this moment, the elevator door opened and both of them walked out.
The sixth floor was arranged by someone Yan hired after Han Muzi asked her to do so. This was because, as a design company, the showroom was essential to showcase old and new designs for clients to view.
Inside the empty showroom, there was only one product, and that was Leng Yueyue’s design.
Seeing that her work was the only one displayed in the showroom, her eyes widened while she covered her mouth, trying to stop herself from crying. Oh my God! This is too much for me!
This was the first time in her life. Before, when she worked alone, Leng Yueyue also won a few awards, but… none of it gave her the feeling she was experiencing now. Her work was being displayed.
“Excited?” Han Muzi turned to her and smiled. “There will be more chances like this, so you need to stay calm.”
Hearing her words, Leng Yueyue couldn’t help but look at her embarrassingly and uttered, “This is the first time for me, so I’m excited, but for you… you’ve already won so many awards; I guess for you, this isn’t a big deal at all!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 439
Doesn’t matter at all? As soon as Han Muzi heard those words, her eyes darkened as she gazed into nowhere in particular before mumbling in a low voice, “How would it not matter? Compared to the unknown future, I prefer to cherish the past and present, because we are the only ones who truly understand the hard work and effort that we put into it.
Maybe after a few awards, people will think that I don’t care about the achievements anymore, but… is that true?” She turned over to Leng Yueyue and gave her a serious look. “Trust me. Years later, no matter which position you end up in, you will never forget this moment today.”
The awe-inspiring determination in her eyes truly touched Leng Yueyue’s heart. She then pursed her lips. “I believe you… Thank you!”
Han Muzi smiled gently and didn’t say anything else.
…
“How are things coming along?”
“The lawyer has already contacted Ye Group. This time, I chose the best lawyer and he guaranteed that he will negotiate with them to lower the compensation fee as much as possible,” Yan reported with confidence.
Han Muzi felt reassured after hearing her report and nodded. “That’s great.” She was worried that no lawyer was willing to help them.
“Before I forget, Lin Xinghuo’s agent called and said that she will be busy filming for the next two days. We may need to wait till she is free for her to come over.”
“Alright. Pack your stuff. It’s time to go home.”
“Okay.”
The two of them started packing to get off work and pick up Little Bean.
When they reached the bottom floor of the building, a figure was seen standing at the car park. The lights from the streetlamps in the car park stretched the silhouette of the man. Yan stopped in her tracks and looked at Han Muzi beside her. “Muzi, that man…”
Han Muzi gazed at the man in the distance for a while, then handed the keys over to Yan. “Go pick up Little Bean first and send him home. Don’t mind me.”
Yan grabbed the keys hesitantly. “But, Little Bean has been yearning to see you since last night. You—”
“Relax. I’ll be home later.”
“Alright then. Call me if there’s a problem.” Yan glanced at the man in the distance and left. Despite everything, she could rest assured that Han Muzi would be fine with Ye Moxuan. Even though she wished he would stop clinging onto Han Muzi, she knew Ye Moxuan wouldn’t hurt her. That much she was sure of.
By the time her car left, the car park was silent once again.
Han Muzi stood stationary, and so did the man. After giving it some thought, she decided to set things straight. She started walking toward the man behind the streetlamp. As soon as she came near to him, Han Muzi could see that the eyes of the man hiding in the dark were filled with rage and looked like they were about to burst out. Nevertheless, she spoke to him calmly, “Mr. Ye, do we need to find a place to talk?”
“Talk?” Ye Moxuan sneered while his beady eyes mocked her. “What is there to talk about? Should we talk about how an internationally-renowned designer terminated a contract after coming back to China?”
Han Muzi remained silent at first, then she replied, “Mr. Ye, I know that you’re not in a good mood right now, but I have the right to terminate the contract. I wasn’t able to meet your criteria, so terminating the contract is mutually beneficial. I won’t have to meet your demands anymore, and you will get your compensation fee. Isn’t that a win-win?”
“Pfft, do you think that I, Ye Moxuan, need that bit of money? Compensation fee? This is more of a break-up fee, isn’t it?”
Han Muzi frowned. Break-up fee? Didn’t I break up with him five years ago? What does he mean? Does he mean the break-up fee for our current collaboration?
As she thought about it, Han Muzi’s mind was clear as she pressed her lips. “Mr. Ye, if this is how you see it, then let’s treat it that way. I have a few matters to attend to, so I can’t accompany you any longer.” When she was done talking, Han Muzi turned around to leave.
Just then, the immobile man suddenly reached out to her waist and pulled her whole body back. He then pressed her tight against the side of a car.
“Why do you hate me so much?” His hands locked onto hers while he pressed himself on her. “You hate me so much that you can’t even bear to spend another minute alone with me?” His voice turned sharp as a dangerous aura was spreading around him. “Why can’t we even collaborate? Are you disgusted every time you lay your eyes on me?” His whole body was almost completely above her. Han Muzi couldn’t catch her breath with his heavy body on her, but the heaviest presence was the strong pressure he exerted on her.
Han Muzi twitched her lips, trying to argue with him. At the same time, the sounds of footsteps were heard coming toward them. “I’ve heard that Yueyue’s work has been displayed at the showroom on the sixth floor. How great is she! I think this is the first design product of the company.”
“Yes. After all, we’re still a fresh company. It makes sense that this is our first product.” It was the voice of Leng Yueyue and Xiao Yiyi.
Suddenly, Han Muzi’s face changed. If her employees found her out here looking like this, how would she be able to look them in the eye? The thought of it urged Han Muzi to hurriedly push away Ye Moxuan with her hands, but his body was like a heavy stone—completely immovable.
She became anxious and whispered to him. “Get up! Let go of me!”
In contrast with her anxiety, Ye Moxuan was exceptionally calm, and he slowly stroked Han Muzi’s white cheek. It was as though his fingers were wrapped with silk. He then chuckled softly, “Why? Are you scared?”
The footsteps came nearer, and Han Muzi was turning pale. She stared fiercely at the man in front of her and finally pleaded, “Please!”
Ye Moxuan’s eyes darkened, and he pulled her into a dark corner before they came over.
She switched from leaning against a car to an icy, hard wall, but there was no pain because… Ye Moxuan’s hands were there protecting her back. Since space was limited, and they were trying to avoid the others, they were inches away from each other. Their breaths merged in the dark and Han Muzi realized she was inhaling in his breath. Her heartbeat accelerated again as she slowly tilted her head back.
“Let’s go home! I need to celebrate tonight. After all… today’s a special day!”
“Yueyue, bring me with you! I want to go too!” Wang An shouted at her.
“Okay!” Leng Yueyue was exceptionally happy. “Just come by yourself when the time comes. I won’t be responsible for reminding you.”
Wang An giggled. “No problem!”
They carried on talking while entering the car. Soon after, they left.
Han Muzi was holding on to her breath while listening to them. After she made sure there was no one outside, she immediately used all her might to shove Ye Moxuan away.
Ye Moxuan took a few steps back and lifted his head, looking at her with sadness in his eyes.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 440
His eyes caused a stir in Han Muzi’s heart, but she quickly came around and tidied her clothes before leaving.
Ye Moxuan’s deep voice reached her from the back. “You’ve used me and now you’re just going to abandon me?”
Han Muzi stopped and gritted her teeth. She didn’t look back but her voice was clear. “Mr. Ye, I hope you can understand this—I wasn’t using you. It was you who kept on pestering me and that is why I don’t want to collaborate with you. You’re right—I don’t like you; I hate you and I never want to see your face again. Mr. Ye, if you’re a smart man, then please don’t appear in front of me again. I hope that we can go our separate ways and be a pair of strangers from now on.”
Strangers? Ye Moxuan stared at the straight back of the woman. Her words hit him hard, as did the determination in her voice. It was clear that she was serious and wasn’t joking around.
She has been hating me like this for the past five years? His once dull eyes became darker while he remained silent. Then, he looked at her and sneered. “Strangers, you say?”
Han Muzi thought she made herself clear, so she didn’t stand there for much longer and left the car park. Afterward, she called a cab beside the road and went back to the Han Residence.
Meanwhile, at the Han Residence.
“Aunt Yan, will mommy be coming back today?” Little Bean asked with his huge eyes while holding Yan’s hand.
Little Bean was very dependent on Han Muzi because he had always been by her side since he was born. No matter where Han Muzi went, she would bring him alongside her, and she would find someone to look after him while she was working. However, for the last two days, Little Bean hadn’t seen Han Muzi at all, so his child-like heart began to miss his mommy.
“Don’t worry; she told me that she will be back shortly. Don’t be anxious.” Yan pinched the soft cheek of Little Bean’s face. “I didn’t notice it before but it’s so surprising to see you this reliant on your mommy. You are a little man now; don’t you think this is a bit embarrassing?” Yan took the chance to mock him as a payback for the little rascal’s constant squabbling with her.
Unexpectedly, Little Bean rolled his eyes and opened his mouth. “Aunt Yan, even though I’m a little man, at heart, I’m still an immature baby.”
“Pfft! Are you kidding? An immature baby at heart? Aren’t you ashamed of saying that out loud?” Yan laughed.
Little Bean felt upset and let out a grunt. He released himself from Yan’s grip and went flying into the house.
Han Qing was just walking over when Little Bean rushed to hug his leg. “Uncle Qing, I just saw photos of you on Aunt Yan’s phone.”
The words struck her like thunder. Yan stood motionless while stunned over what just happened.
She stared at Han Qing in shock and turned her attention toward the sly face of Little Bean. She was deeply humiliated. This payback came too soon! This isn’t Little Bean; this is a little devil! Brat!
When Han Qing looked toward Yan, her face was already flushed, and she quickly explained, “M-Mr. Han, it’s not like what Little Bean said. I don’t have pictures of you.”
“Aunt Yan, you’re talking nonsense. Not only do you have Uncle Qing’s pictures, but you also saved a whole stack of it!”
Yan gritted her teeth while staring at Little Bean with her threatening eyes. I beg you; please stop. I can’t look into my crush’s eyes anymore if you keep talking.
“Oh?” Han Qing didn’t care much about this, but seeing how well Little Bean got along with Yan—even trying to tease her—he decided to go along with it since he had nothing else to offer as an uncle.
Han Qing’s gaze landed on Yan’s face and he asked, “Saved a lot of pictures? What kind of pictures?”
All of a sudden, Yan could almost feel the blood inside her bursting out. She thought that she could shuffle her way out of this, but her crush seemed genuinely interested in this. Who cares if my crush is the one asking? I will not yield and admit to it! Never!
“Mr. Han, it’s just a misunderstanding. I don’t have pictures of you saved on my phone. Little Bean saw pictures of you when I was looking at the news and thought I saved photos of you.” Yes! This is the perfect reason. My crush should believe me now and won’t keep asking me about it, right?
“Look at this, Uncle Qing.” Little Bean suddenly held up a phone and opened the album in it to show a few photos.
Han Qing lowered his head to see the pictures and all of them were candid photos of him. Not only that, the whole album only had pictures of him.
Yan had a look at that phone and was suspicious at first. Then, she chewed on her nails and murmured, “Why does that phone look so familiar?” After giving it a closer look, she finally realized. Isn’t that my phone?
She dug into her pockets to try to find her phone, but it wasn’t there. Ah! Little Bean, that brat! How did he get hold of my phone without me noticing? That little devil!
Just when Yan was raging inside, Han Qing’s eyes glanced toward her and landed on her face.
The expression on her face disappeared immediately and was replaced with nervousness, as she was clueless about what to do next. She couldn’t help but tug her sleeves with both her hands. What should I do now? Han Qing now knows that I have pictures of him on my phone. Will he suspect that I have feelings for him? If he knows that I like him, will he hate me?
Thinking about it, Yan lowered her eyes and was hesitant about what to say next. On the other hand, Little Bean saw that his scheme succeeded, so he giggled and secretly went away.
Han Qing was still holding onto the phone as he gazed at the woman a short distance away from him. She was so petite, and she stood there tugging her sleeves, as if she didn’t know what to do next, looking like a lost little rabbit.
Initially, it was just Little Bean messing around, so if he made Yan look bad now, it wouldn’t be nice. After giving it some thought, Han Qing went up to her and handed the phone over. “Yours.”
Yan kept her head down as she saw his delicate hands and her heart started to shiver. Am I… going to be hated? If that’s so, why not take the chance to express my feelings?
At this point, Yan gave her lips a hard bite and took a deep breath before raising her head at Han Qing. Finally, she spoke loudly to him, “Since you already saw it, I have nothing more to hide from you. Han Qing, I like you!”
Han Qing froze while looking at the pretty lady in front of him. He then realized something was out of place.
