Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 441
The wind seemed to stop for a moment. Han Qing’s eyelashes twitched while Yan focused on the man in front of her. I’ve already expressed my feelings. Why isn’t he reacting? I have already started, should I… be braver?
An idea formed in her mind as she felt her heart racing inside and her blood started to boil. It’s time to go all out. Yan took a deep breath. The next second, she tiptoed to kiss Han Qing.
Initially, Han Qing wanted to hand over the phone to her, but who would have expected the lady before his eyes to confess her love for him in such a fiery fashion? Her actions left him stunned. He thought about rejecting her advances but was immediately reminded that this lady was his sister’s best friend and pondered whether it would hurt her if he blatantly rejected her.
As he was thinking of all this, his sight suddenly blackened, and what followed… was a soft touch on his lips—like cotton candy. It pressed hard against his lips and quickly backed away.
Yan’s pale face blushed to the point of flaming red. She couldn’t look at Han Qing’s reaction after the kiss, so she swiftly turned away and disappeared in a flash.
Han Qing was still standing motionless while holding onto Yan’s phone. He then drifted away…
Time passed and a figure suddenly appeared in front of Han Qing. It was Han Muzi. She came back and was prepared to look for Little Bean, but she didn’t expect to meet Han Qing at the door.
When Han Muzi saw Han Qing standing there, she felt a bit guilty because she went missing for a whole night yesterday. She didn’t know what Yan told him as she forgot to align her story with hers just now. What am I going to say when he asks me? If I get anything wrong, will he…
While she hesitated about what to say, she had already reached in front of him. However, Han Qing had an odd look on his face, as if he didn’t notice her at all.
“Qing?” Han Qing finally came around after Han Muzi called him. His eyes flashed and he saw Han Muzi at last. “Muzi? You’re back?”
“Yes.” She nodded without adding much while her guilty eyes avoided his. Then, she saw the phone in Han Qing’s hand and it occurred to her. “Isn’t that Yan’s phone? Why do you have it?”
The moment he heard of Yan’s name, all the questions he had for Han Muzi faded from his mind and was replaced with the scene where Yan tiptoed to kiss him.
For once, Han Qing stirred his eyes away in panic and handed her the phone. “Little Bean gave it to me. You can return it to her then.”
“Oh.” Han Muzi didn’t feel suspicious of him because she knew that Little Bean often played with Yan’s phone, so it wasn’t weird that her phone was with Little Bean. Naturally, she grabbed the phone and walked a few steps forward hesitantly before turning back to look at him. “Qing?”
“Yes?” Han Qing froze and turned back to look at her. “What is it?”
“Nothing. I’ll go in now,” Han Muzi replied.
“Alright.”
As soon as she went upstairs, she turned back again to take a peek at Han Qing below. What’s wrong with Qing today? Why does he look so weird and unsettled? However, this was good news to her as Han Qing didn’t nag at her and left her in peace.
Then, she went over to Yan’s room because she expected Little Bean to be with her, but when she opened the door, Yan’s sudden scream came out like a bouncing ball. “Who is it?”
“It’s me,” Han Muzi answered her.
“Muzi?” Yan’s expressions changed the moment she saw Han Muzi.
At the same time, Han Muzi found out that her face was as red as a ripe red apple. “Why is your face so red? Are you sick?” After she finished her words, she intended to go in and have a closer look, but Yan instantly jumped as if someone had stepped on her tail and ran straight into the washroom.
Han Muzi stopped and stood still. Why is everyone acting so strange today? And, why isn’t Little Bean here?
“Yan, are you alright?” In the end, Han Muzi could only walk to the front of the washroom to ask her. It was silent for a while, then Yan’s voice was heard again. “I’m fine. It’s just that I’m a bit hot. I’ll be fine after a shower. You came here looking for Little Bean, right? He isn’t here; I guess he went back to his room already. Go find him there.”
When she heard that Little Bean had returned to his room, she didn’t linger any longer and quickly left to find him. When she opened the door, Little Bean was just sitting by the table holding a small textbook. This cute scene added some tenderness to her eyes. “Little Bean.”
“Mommy!” Little Bean saw Han Muzi after he turned to look, and immediately threw aside the textbook to run toward her. The speed he ran at left Han Muzi in awe.
She hurriedly squatted down before Little Bean ran into her. Little Bean quickly squirmed into her arms and held onto her neck.
Han Muzi didn’t steady her feet, so she was brought down to the floor by Little Bean. Fortunately, the floor was covered with soft mats as the mother and son tumbled on the floor.
“Mommy, where were you yesterday? Aunt Yan refused to tell me anything.”
“Mommy faced some problems at work yesterday and needed to fix it fast. I didn’t tell you because I wanted you to have a good night’s sleep. My Little Bean is so well-behaved. You can’t possibly follow mommy everywhere, right?”
“But…” Little Bean lowered his head while poking at both his index fingers. Then, he lifted his head to reveal a woeful face to her.
Han Muzi couldn’t stand his cute face that melted her heart, so she reached out to his head and touched his head while pinching his tiny nose. In the end, she also pinched his cheeks. “No more buts. You are mommy’s sweet baby. When mommy is out there working, you should stay at home and enjoy yourself. After mommy makes enough money, I’ll have more time to be with you. Okay?”
Little Bean let out a grunt. “Mommy, even if you don’t work, I can still take care of you!”
“You little rascal. Stop talking nonsense. Mommy is poor now, so I need to work hard to earn some money. All you need to do now is focus on your studies and be happy.”
After she said this, Little Bean suddenly asked a question, “Then, mommy, when will you find me a dad?”
Initially, Han Muzi’s face was filled with joy, but after hearing his words, she was left stunned and even became a little unresponsive. After a while, she looked at Little Bean and asked seriously, “Little Bean, do you want a dad?”
She didn’t notice the flash of light under Little Bean’s eyes as she fell into the depth of her thoughts. Little Bean wants a dad? Where can I find one for him? Is it true what people say about single-parent love being inadequate?
1
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 442
This was the first time—the first time Little Bean asked Han Muzi about his father. From a young age, he had always been a sensible child. Or maybe it was because Yan had been enlightening him behind her back. Nevertheless, Little Bean would never ask Han Muzi questions like these.
If he were like any other child, when he saw a complete family, he might have naively asked, “Mom, where is my dad? Why don’t I have a dad?” But Little Bean wasn’t like that as he was a lovely child—so much so that Han Muzi loved him with all her heart.
It was just that he never opened his mouth about it, so Han Muzi thought he didn’t need it. That was why she tried her best to give him all the love she could. However, seeing it now, the reason he didn’t open up about it wasn’t that he didn’t want to, it was because he was considering her feelings.
As she thought about this, Han Muzi reached out to Little Bean and pulled him into her arms. “I’m sorry I’ve ignored your feelings.”
As Little Bean was held in her arms, he blinked and smiled at her while holding her neck. He then comforted her in a childish voice, “No you didn’t, mommy. You just need to help me find a dad.” After giving it some thought, Little Bean was still afraid that she would misunderstand, so he added, “The man we met at that restaurant looks like a good choice.”
Han Muzi froze when she heard this. “Restaurant?” She let go of Little Bean and curiously asked, “Which restaurant? When did we meet him?”
Little Bean staggered as he knew that he must have said something wrong. He quickly tried to resolve it by saying, “Mommy, he was the one we met in that restaurant two days ago. Didn’t those uncles say that there was a big shot upstairs?” After he finished, his eyes glowed brightly. “A big shot, mommy. Wouldn’t he be able to support you?”
Han Muzi kept quiet. So that’s the man Little Bean is talking about. Suddenly, her thoughts sent chills down her spine. Is this fate or merely a coincidence? Why would Little Bean think of finding him, even though he never met him? That man is none other than Ye Moxuan.
Suddenly, the image of Little Bean and Ye Moxuan’s face piling on each other came to her mind, and it ended up becoming a face. Thinking about the image in her mind, Han Muzi shivered. What is the relation between these two? Wasn’t it Ye Linhan that was in the car with me back then? But why does… Little Bean look so much like Ye Moxuan, instead of Ye Linhan? There was another possibility that even Han Muzi wouldn’t dare to think of.
Han Muzi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “So, you like big shots?”
Little Bean smiled at her. “Mommy, does that mean you agree?”
She felt a little stirred up inside, but she didn’t dismiss the child and merely uttered softly, “What you’ve told mommy today, mommy will remember.”
“Thank you, mommy.”
After a long talk between mother and son, Han Muzi abruptly remembered something and asked Little Bean, “Oh yeah, do you know what happened to your Aunt Yan? When I came back, I saw her…” She was just casually asking him, hence she didn’t expect him to reply instantly. “Mommy, let me tell you a secret.”
“What secret?” She moved her ears close to him, and Little Bean went beside her to whisper in her ear, “Today, I saw Aunt Yan kiss Uncle Qing!”
Han Muzi said nothing afterward. What? Did I mishear?
“W-What did you say you saw?” Han Muzi was left stunned for a long while before realizing what Little Bean had just said. Yan actually… kissed Qing? How is that possible? When did she become so courageous?
“Mommy, it’s true.”
Han Muzi instantly came to the realization. No wonder Yan looked so blushed when I saw her just now. Was it because she just kissed Qing? He, too, looked very unsettled just now. I… have never seen Qing like that before. Surely, this is the time for their relationship to blossom!
She rolled her eyes and smiled. If Yan becomes my sister-in-law, it would be pretty awesome.
Yan and Han Muzi already had a good relationship, and after what happened with Han Xueyou, she should know better. That was why Han Muzi trusted her people-assessment skills and was sure that Yan was a completely different person from Han Xueyou.
Yan was a loyal friend to her. Whenever there was a problem, she would come to her rescue. Even when she was sick, Yan always seemed to be more hurt than she was. While Han Muzi was giving birth, Yan cried her heart out because she was nervous about her. She was like another Han Muzi and was always concerned about her well-being.
Sometimes Han Muzi wondered how she could be so lucky. After losing a best friend like Han Xueyou, she gained another in the form of Yan who stayed by her through hard times. Yan said it herself; she felt that she probably owed her a lot in her past-life and that was why in this life, she was constantly helping her.
Sometimes, they would also joke around that Yan did all of this for a reason, and that reason was Han Qing, which meant that all this was just a plot to be Han Muzi’s sister-in-law. They usually laughed afterward, and Han Muzi even cheered her on so that her dream would come to fruition.
However, Yan did nothing for the past few years. When Su Jiu confessed to Han Qing, Yan only felt upset for a while, then she was back to her normal energetic self. “Little Bean, do you like Aunt Yan?” Han Muzi smiled at him. “If so, what do you think of her becoming your aunty?”
Little Bean blinked. “That would be nice. If Aunt Yan becomes my aunty, then… she can always cook for me.”
Listening to him, Han Muzi was speechless as she poked his little head. “You little pig. All you care about is food!”
“Hehe, mommy… Aunt Yan cooks good food. You like it too…” The mother and son pair continued talking for a while.
In the dead of the night, Han Muzi removed her blanket and came down from her bed. She went to the window to gaze into the silent night outside.
Her heartbeat accelerated while she thought of what Little Bean told her just now, and she lowered her eyes. Why would that little guy talk about this? Does that mean… he really wants a father? But why? He has never mentioned it before, so why mention it now? Is it because of these two days in school?
After she thought about the situation, she decided to personally send Little Bean to school tomorrow and ask the teachers if Little Bean had any predicaments in school.
The next day, after sending Little Bean to the school gate, she didn’t leave hurriedly but instead went over to see his teacher.
The students of this school came from wealthy backgrounds, so the teachers wouldn’t dare cross them. That was why the teachers were friendly and polite toward Han Muzi. “Miss Han?”
“I’m sorry for bothering you. I would like to know who Han Yishu’s teacher is.”
“That would be me. Is there any problem?” The teacher became nervous after being asked, and she looked toward Little Bean’s seat.
Noticing her uneasiness, Han Muzi smiled gently. “Don’t be nervous. I’m just here to ask, has he had any problems in school in the last two days?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 443
Any problem? The teacher was stunned by her question; she didn’t know what she meant. “What… kind of problems?”
“Like his behavior. Is there any problem with that? Han Muzi thought for a while and asked, “How is he getting along with the other kids in the class?”
The teacher finally understood her words. “Oh, so that’s what you’re referring to. Miss Han, you can rest assured as Yishu gets along very well with everybody. He has such a cute look, so every other kid loves to play with him. Let me tell you this, Miss Han, some little girls in the class even talk about marrying him in the future.”
Han Muzi remained silent and she froze. So that’s how it is? If Little Bean is getting along well with everyone in school, then why did he suddenly mention his father?
Han Muzi was worried that he might be bullied at school by other students saying that he was a fatherless child. Something similar happened to him before when they were abroad, but… that by their neighbor. Little Bean didn’t moan about it then, and he didn’t even complain about it to his mother. It was Han Muzi herself who heard it and she realized how tough her son was. This made the situation even more heartbreaking.
“I see. If he gets along with everyone else, then I’ll have nothing to worry about.”
The teacher nodded. “Don’t worry, Miss Han. You can rest assured leaving your child here. We will take care of every child to the best of our capacity.”
“Thank you.” Han Muzi gave her a grateful smile and left the school.
She got delayed speaking with the teacher, so when she reached the company, she was already late. “Oh yeah. Remember to give Lin Xinghuo a call today to see when she is free.”
Yan concurred, but she still blushed when she saw Han Muzi. After all, she was the younger sister of Han Qing, so… she felt somewhat guilty when she saw her. “I think we should wait till Miss Lin’s agent contacts us. They have their agents to take care of things. If she has the time, they’ll naturally call over.”
“Alright then.” Han Muzi nodded. “Since she isn’t here yet, we need to properly prepare our design work. Nothing can go wrong.”
“Understood.” Yan nodded.
Afterward, they went about their own business. As they were about to enter the elevator, Han Muzi suddenly saw the pale face of Leng Yueyue coming toward her. “Muzi, you’re finally here!”
“Leng Yueyue?” Yan looked at her with an odd face. “What’s wrong with you? Your face is as pale as a ghost. What happened?”
Leng Yueyue appeared in front of Han Muzi with an extremely pale face—even her lips showed no trace of blood. She twitched her lips, trying to say something to Han Muzi, but before the words came out of her mouth, she suddenly let out a loud cry. “Boohoo…”
Han Muzi and Yan were shocked that Leng Yueyue suddenly started bawling her eyes out. “Oh my God. You scared me!” Yan took two steps back and covered her chest, then she breathed lightly and said, “What’s wrong with you? Tell us; why are you crying?”
Leng Yueyue tried to tell them, but she was choked by her tears. In the end, she couldn’t even say a word.
Han Muzi stared at her, unsure of what she was thinking, so she quickly said, “No need to tell us. Just bring us there.”
Leng Yueyue nodded and went into the elevator.
After the door closed, only Leng Yueyue’s cries could be heard in the confined space. Yan took a look at Han Muzi’s emotionless face, then turned toward Leng Yueyue’s weeping face. She whispered to Han Muzi, “Do you know what she is talking about?”
“No idea,” she replied to her indifferently.
Yan widened her eyes. “Then you—”
“If she can’t say it out, then she’ll bring us there. Is there a problem?” Han Muzi turned to glare at her.
“No problem. You’re right!” Yan waved her hand as to say whatever.
“Which floor?” Han Muzi suddenly realized they hadn’t pushed the button, so she asked Leng Yueyue.
Her face became paler as she reached out with her trembling hands to press on the button for the sixth floor.
After seeing the number six, Han Muzi’s emotionless eyes immediately darkened, thereupon she squinted her eyes, and a bad feeling developed inside of her. Based on her understanding, Leng Yueyue was a stubborn, bossy woman—definitely not the kind that would easily cry. If she suddenly cried so much, then… it must be… When Han Muzi thought about it, her expression instantly changed.
“Has something happened to the dress?” Han Muzi asked right away while her eyes turned sharp.
Leng Yueyue was shocked by her manner and staggered, but she came back around and nodded while tears of sorrow filled her eyes.
Ding! As they reached the sixth floor, the door opened and the three of them rushed out.
Inside the showroom on the sixth floor, the glass was shattered by someone and a lot of items were scattered all over the floor. The designer gown that was displayed on the mannequin was lying on the floor—together with the glass shards and the other debris. The scene was horrendous, looking similarly to a thieves’ den.
Yan couldn’t help but take a breath of cold air as her face turned pale. Her fury was about to burst out of her. Han Muzi was afraid she would get too agitated, so she immediately patted her shoulder to calm her down.
Yan finally calmed herself down and roared right away, “Who turned this place into a sh*t show?”
Leng Yueyue stood aside weeping; she was furious about it too. At first, she wanted to check on the surveillance system, but she unexpectedly met with Han Muzi and Yan when she was going down. She wanted to describe the situation to them but after seeing Han Muzi, she burst into tears. She couldn’t understand why she became like this. Crying in front of others? How embarrassing! But, she just couldn’t stop her rolling tears, because Han Muzi had given her a chance. A chance to display her work in this showroom. Therefore, she was grateful to Han Muzi for letting her reinvent herself.
“Is it a burglary?” Yan asked Han Muzi.
Han Muzi looked around, then she pressed her lips and uttered coldly, “Find someone to clean this mess up.”
“What?” Yan was stunned. “Clean this place up? Isn’t that tampering with potential evidence? Muzi, I think what we should do now is call the police.”
Han Muzi didn’t agree with her and just walked into the showroom while wearing high heels. Yan’s expression changed and she quickly went up to her. “Are you crazy? It’s all glass shards in there. What if you injure your feet?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 444
“I’m wearing shoes; don’t worry.” Han Muzi calmly walked toward the fallen mannequin. She then thought for a while and told Yan, “Don’t come over here. Please hand me a pair of gloves.”
Yan initially wanted to go in, but after she heard her, she turned away to get a pair of gloves for her.
Leng Yueyue and Han Muzi were the only two left at the scene.
Slowly, Leng Yueyue calmed herself down and wiped the tears off her face before looking at Han Muzi. “Are you going to pick up the dress? But… the dress has already been damaged badly. What’s the use of picking it up?”
Han Muzi glanced at her. “Who says it’s useless?”
Leng Yueyue was startled when she heard her. “What do you mean?”
“We haven’t reached the point of desperation yet.” Han Muzi calmly surveyed the surroundings, then she murmured, “First, tell me how you found out about this.”
“I…” Leng Yueyue pouted as she was uncomfortable. “Yesterday, I was very happy, so I invited everyone to have a drink. Then… I came over to have another look at the dress because it is my first work on display. Even though nobody is at the showcase yet, it still holds a place in my heart. At that time, the dress was still fine, but the next morning, when I came over to look at it again, I stumbled into this mess. I think Yan is right; this might be a burglary. That was why this place was destroyed.”
“Burglary?” Han Muzi tittered. “Do you think… the burglar would want to cause such a big mess?”
Leng Yueyue staggered. “What do you mean?”
“If it’s a burglary, then the burglar intended to steal some valuable items. But if that was their intention, then why trash the place like this?”
Leng Yueyue blinked. “Maybe, it is because there aren’t any valuable items in the company, so the burglar became angry?”
“Imagine if you’re the burglar, and you’re trying to steal from this company, would you shatter everything and draw the attention of nearby residents just because you’re angry?”
“No, I won’t be that stupid. The sound of these items shattering can easily draw people over.” As she finished, she suddenly realized something. “Are you… saying someone broke in not to steal, but…” Her eyes widened as she looked at Han Muzi.
Han Muzi didn’t confirm her suspicions. At the same time, Yan handed her a pair of gloves. After Han Muzi wore it, she bent over to pat away the glass shards on the dress and pick up the dress from within the debris.
As she held up the dress, Yan and Leng Yueyue came over to help lift it, but Han Muzi frowned. “Don’t touch it. There are still some shards in the dress. Don’t hurt your hands.” The two of them backed away.
After finding a clear space, Han Muzi put down the dress and took off the gloves.
“Muzi, you’ve injured your leg.” Yan noticed the strains of blood running down her white ankle, but Han Muzi didn’t feel any pain, so she ignored it. “It’s nothing. There may be a lot of glass shards still inside the dress. We need to pick it all out.”
Leng Yueyue squatted beside her with a dejected look. “But, what’s the use if we picked it all out? The dress is already destroyed. And… Lin Xinghuo’s press conference is just a few days away. I don’t think we have the time to make a new one, right?”
Yan also squatted beside them and looked at the damaged dress, thereupon she frowned. “Muzi, what do we do? This dress is badly damaged and time is not on our side. Do we still have a chance to repair it?”
Han Muzi stared at the damaged dress in front of her and felt gloomy, but this wasn’t rock bottom for her. She went silent for a while and said, “Let’s pick out the glass shards first. We’ll think about that later.”
She was calm and composed while the other two were anxious. It seemed abnormal to most people. After all, the dress had been badly damaged. However, Yan was used to it since she had been with Han Muzi for a long time. Leng Yueyue, on the other hand, hadn’t known Han Muzi for too long, so seeing her calm demeanor made her even more frustrated. “Later? What can we do later? The dress is already this badly damaged. How are you not worried at all? This is our company’s dress that Lin Xinghuo planned to wear at the press conference. Do you have a plan?”
“No.” Han Muzi was honest with her reply. The incident just happened and now my mind is in a mess. How can I think of a plan this quickly? They had to deal with the present situation urgently; they could think of a plan when this was settled.
“Then why aren’t you panicking at all?” Leng Yueyue breathed loudly through her nostrils.
“Can panic solve the problem? Can it help you pick the glass shards out of the dress? Stop talking nonsense and quickly take care of this.”
Yan also whispered to Leng Yueyue, “Do what she tells you to; she won’t deceive you. Don’t forget—even though this is your work, Muzi is still in charge of the company, so if anything happens, she is the one who bears the responsibility.”
After hearing her words, Leng Yueyue finally came to her senses and nodded, then she carefully picked out the shards from the dress.
As soon as they were done, Han Muzi said in a cold voice, “After you go back, act as if nothing has happened.”
“What?” Leng Yueyue widened her eyes in disbelief, but seeing Han Muzi’s calm look, she felt that she should trust her, so she nodded and wiped her face dry. “I got it. And by the way, I wasn’t crying just now. It’s just that I was frustrated seeing my work destroyed.”
“I know. Go back now,” Han Muzi replied.
Han Muzi brought the dress to her office and stared at it while sitting on her chair.
The culprit did this on purpose because the dress is made of silk so it can’t bear being pierced by sharp objects. That was why it got heavily damaged. Han Muzi rubbed her forehead as she started to develop a headache. Suddenly, she got a WeChat notification.
Han Muzi took a look and saw that it was a text from Lin Xinghuo. ‘My goddess, I’ve heard my dress is out now! Is it true?’
Han Muzi was taken aback after seeing her name. She never came to try on the dress before, but now that it was damaged, she suddenly took an interest in it. How tiresome!
Han Muzi thought for a while and replied, ‘Yes, it is out now. I placed it in the showroom on level six.’ She thought about it and sent another text over while her face darkened. ‘But there has been a slight accident.’
Lin Xinghuo quickly replied, ‘What accident? Don’t scare me!’ She also added a sticker with a panicked expression in her text. Seeing the sticker, Han Muzi was hesitant on whether to immediately tell her about it or send pictures of it to her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 445
In the end, Han Muzi decided to take pictures for her. She then sent some photos of the finished product over.
Lin Xinghuo texted back, saying, ‘Woah, it’s so pretty! Thank you so much, my goddess! This is exactly what I wanted.’
After Lin Xinghuo sent out that text, Han Muzi sent over another picture.
Lin Xinghuo was stumped when she saw the picture; she sounded like she was in shock. ‘What is this nonsense? Isn’t it kinda ugly?’
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by her reply. ‘That’s the accident I was referring to.’
Lin Xinghuo was at a loss for words.
Han Muzi explained, stating, ‘I am so sorry. In any case, I thought it was best to be honest with you.’
Lin Xinghuo didn’t reply to her text. Han Muzi couldn’t help but recall her smiling face the other day. In the beginning… Han Muzi was rather fond of Lin Xinghuo because she was straightforward and friendly. However, since something like this happened, a fall-out was almost inevitable.
Han Muzi started typing slowly on her phone. ‘With your permission, I will start salvaging this evening gown. However, I need your cooperation, I—’
Before she could finish typing, she received a video call from Lin Xinghuo via WeChat. Han Muzi was surprised, but she accepted the video call anyway.
Lin Xinghuo’s stunning features filled her phone screen. She was wearing a traditional costume, and when she saw Han Muzi on her screen, she broke into a grin. “Hey, my goddess!”
Han Muzi hesitated before greeting her, “Miss Lin?”
“Hey, why are you addressing me as Miss Lin again? Call me Xinghuo! I am a fan of yours, you know! I am still filming on set now. However, I’m done with my part of the filming, and I’ll be able to remove my makeup and get some rest soon. I’ll drop by later.”
Han Muzi observed Lin Xinghuo and noticed that she didn’t look angry at all. It was as if she was not affected by the image of the evening gown at all.
Han Muzi was dumbfounded for a while before asking in a calm voice, “That evening gown, you…”
“Isn’t that just an evening gown? You weren’t the one who designed it after all. If it’s destroyed, then so be it.”
Han Muzi paused before repeating after her, “If it’s destroyed, then so be it?” She was baffled because she did not expect such a response. It took her quite a while before she collected herself. “In that case, what will you be wearing to the press conference?”
“Press conference? Oh right, I have a conference to attend. My goddess, can’t you just dress me in one of your previous designs?”
One of my previous designs? Han Muzi thought for a while before answering her, “But those designs are…”
Han Muzi halted mid sentence as if something struck her. “I think I have a private piece.”
Lin Xinghuo’s eyes shone brightly through the phone screen at the mention of ‘private piece’. “Really? Quick, give it to me! I’ll wear it no matter how it looks!”
In the end, the two of them agreed and Lin Xinghuo would drop by in the afternoon.
After hanging up on the call, Han Muzi stared at the evening gown while letting out a sigh of relief. Right at this time, Yan opened the door and entered the office.
“What is it?”
Yan shook her head. “You guessed right—it wasn’t a robbery. Someone did it deliberately.”
Han Muzi lowered her eyes when she asked, “Can you tell who it is from the surveillance footage?”
“No, I can’t,” answered Yan with a shake of her head. “There are more blind spots on the sixth floor, and that is why…” Yan lowered her head remorsefully and confessed, “This is entirely my fault. The piece was so important; I should have practiced due diligence.”
“No worries. It’s taken care of.” Han Muzi approached Yan. “Let’s go.”
“Where are we going?”
“To find the culprit.”
Upon hearing that, Yan immediately ran after her from behind. The two of them entered the elevator together.
“Do you know where to catch the culprit?”
“The perpetrator made use of blind spots and avoided certain areas. However, as long as they entered the building, they would have shown up on the surveillance footage. We need to check the footage of the entire compound of the company.”
Yan smacked her head when she heard that. “That’s right! Why didn’t I think of that?! I think I was in a rush.”
“No worries, we are just trying our luck anyway.” She said that because they might not even locate the culprit even after going through the surveillance footage of the entire company. True enough, the two of them went through all the footage available, but still couldn’t locate the suspect.
“What should we do? We don’t see anyone here. The person couldn’t possibly scale walls, could they?”
Han Muzi pondered for a while before taking her phone out to call Han Qing.
Initially, she didn’t want to trouble Han Qing. However, this matter might escalate into something worse, so she thought it was best to handle it thoroughly. Otherwise, if such things were to happen again, she might as well close down her company. Networking was truly an important thing.
Han Muzi did not inform Han Qing what happened; she merely told him that she’d like to have access to the surveillance footage of the surrounding areas. She asked him to help her figure out a way to get that footage.
After a short pause over the phone call, Han Qing answered her, “Leave it to me.”
After the phone call, Yan squinted at Han Muzi while asking her, “Did you phone your brother? What did he say?”
“Go ahead with your work. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Oh, alright.”
After lunch, Han Qing called. He told her that he had things sorted out and that Mr. Nan would pick her up to bring her over to view the surveillance tapes.
Han Muzi packed her things and prepared to leave. However, she bumped into Xiao Su when she went downstairs. Xiao Su? Why is he here at such an odd time?
“Miss Shelly.” Xiao Su had been especially polite to her after the conversation they had before.
“Can I help you?” Han Muzi paused for a while to look at him.
Xiao Su explained, “Young Master Ye instructed me to pick you up, Miss Shelly. It is about the discussion of terminating the contract. We already received the breach of contract notice from your company.”
Han Muzi mulled over what he said before smiling at him. “Since your company has received the notice from us, it means we are willing to compensate you accordingly. As long as we’ve provided due compensation, everything else isn’t my concern, is it? Please refer to our lawyer if there are any issues. Do you need me to give you his business card?”
Xiao Su was at a loss for words. He wasn’t sure if he was imagining things, but somehow, he sensed that Han Muzi’s attitude toward him was colder than before. Could it be because of what I said when I returned her phone previously? He cleared his throat upon realizing that possibility, and he explained, “Miss Shelly, what I said last time wasn’t intended to provoke you. You—”
“Xiao Su, I agree with everything you said, and I share the same thoughts as you. If I did anything previously that might have caused your Young Master Ye to misunderstand my intentions, please clarify things on my behalf. I have other matters to attend to, so I’m taking my leave now.” She already saw Mr. Nan’s car reaching the entrance, hence she waved at the car and briskly walked forward. She then opened the car door and got in right away.
Xiao Su stared after her and felt conflicted. After that, he narrowed his eyes in suspicion when he saw the car’s number plate. Isn’t that the Han Family’s car? Why is she involved with the Han Family? Xiao Su’s expression soured further when the thought crossed his mind.
“Why are you here?” a voice asked from behind him.
Xiao Su turned around and saw Yan glaring at him in annoyance with her arms folded in front of her.
Ever since that previous conversation, Yan was not overly fond of him.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 446
“Nothing,” answered Xiao Su simply.
“Nothing?” Yan burst out laughing. “You wouldn’t show up if it’s nothing. I can tell from your expression that you are here to stir up trouble. What is it? We are presenting the compensation money on a silver platter. Are you telling me that your company isn’t willing to let us go? Please don’t have that misconception again that Han Muzi is pestering your beloved Young Master Ye!”
Xiao Su stuttered, “T-That’s not w-what I mean, I just…”
“Aren’t you just doing everything for the sake of your beloved Young Master Ye? Is that why you put all the blame on us—the women? Xiao Su, I used to admire you. Who would have thought that now, you are… Maybe I was just blind previously. Anyway, I am with Han Muzi on this. We have breached the contract so please talk to our lawyer directly if you have any issues. Stop showing up at the entrance of our company building.” Yan turned around to enter the building after saying her piece, leaving Xiao Su standing alone with his billowing hair.
After a while, he lowered his head with a bitter smile. It looks like… I truly said something wrong the other day. In all honesty, I wasn’t thinking when I said that. It’s just that I’ve seen the state Ye Moxuan has been stuck in throughout the years, and that’s why I started to resent that woman. That is why… I said something like that at the spur of the moment. Why did you come back since you had already left? Sigh, now it just seems like… Despite being back, she did not return for Ye Moxuan. Judging by what happened recently, she doesn’t care about Young Master Ye at all. Young Master Ye is the only one still living in the past.
Unfortunately, Xiao Su couldn’t possibly voice his thoughts to Ye Moxuan.
…
Mr. Nan soon drove Han Muzi to the destination. Since it had been agreed upon beforehand, it was a smooth process for Han Muzi to enter the place. The manager brought her into the control room. “Miss Han, have a look at these.”
“Thank you,” Han Muzi thanked the person sincerely then stood there looking through the surveillance footage seriously. She broke the silence when she saw a suspicious figure. “Can you please go back to ten seconds ago and replay that scene?”
The operator did as she requested. Han Muzi saw a person with a cap; the figure’s features were very well hidden and the built indicated that it was a man.
“Can I have a look at the footage of the surrounding areas?” Han Muzi tried her luck despite feeling a bit out of place.
The person frowned immediately. “Miss Han, I’m afraid that’s not possible.”
Han Muzi blinked several times.
“I’m so sorry, but we tried our best.”
Han Muzi did not press on since they wouldn’t budge. She just smiled politely and answered, “No worries, you guys were a great help. Thank you so much for this. I’ll buy you guys a meal next time.”
“Don’t worry about it. You don’t have to be so courteous. We are happy to do President Han a favor.”
They left the control room. Han Muzi and the man were at the end of the corridor when someone rushed over suddenly. “Young Master is back.”
The manager’s expression became pale when he heard that. “Why is Young Master back?”
Previously, when the young master visited, he reprimanded them about their job. They knew that he was unreasonable, and he did things resolutely. They were all afraid of him since they had previously suffered under his hands.
“Miss Han, I…” Just when he was speaking, a tall and well-built figure appeared in the corridor.
Everyone was stunned, including Han Muzi. She was puzzled when she saw the tall and well-built figure. Previously, she was wondering who the Young Master they were referring to was. Who would have thought?
The tall and handsome man marched forward with his strong and straight legs before stopping right in front of her. His thin lips were pursed into a straight line, and his eyes were frosty when they swept over her face.
Everyone else was shaking in fear. “Y-Young Master.”
Han Muzi frowned slightly before stating quietly, “It seems like you all have some matters to attend to. I’ll take my leave now.” With that, Han Muzi thanked the manager and marched forward, preparing to leave.
However, when she was walking by Ye Moxuan, his arm shot out suddenly, and it pressed against the wall on the side, blocking her way forward.
Han Muzi stared at his arm incredulously.
Ye Moxuan did not remove his arm, and he remained motionless. His expression was dark, and it was obvious that he was burning in anger.
The employees thought that he was angry because Han Muzi had access to their premises. Hence, they started explaining on her behalf, “Young Master, she is from the Han Group…”
“Did I ask you to speak?” Ye Moxuan snapped at him while shooting him an icy glance.
That person shut up right away.
Han Muzi stood still since she was curious what Ye Moxuan was planning to do. She looked up at his side profile. “Can I help you?”
The staff all looked as pale as ghosts when they heard that. Our Young Master is like the Devil himself. Why is she speaking to him in that tone? What should we do if something bad happens later? I promised President Han earlier. If something happens to this woman here, the Han Family will hold a grudge against me. Besides, I might end up losing my job as well.”
The employee immediately explained with a quivering voice when the thought of losing his job crossed his mind, “I’m not associated with this matter, Young Master. She insisted on entering the premises, and I was forced into this situation.”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his response. She frowned slightly while staring at that employee. He was so scared that his face was pale, and he looked as if he just saw a ghost. After weighing her options, Han Muzi sighed quietly in her heart and didn’t try explaining herself.
He promised to help me, but now that his boss shows up and finds out what’s happening, I suppose it’s normal for him to blame me. I can’t really blame him for that.
Han Muzi chuckled when she thought of that and looked up at Ye Moxuan. “That’s right, I entered on my own accord. So what? Can I leave now?”
“What do you think?” Ye Moxuan finally turned to her, and his gaze was steely.
Their eyes met, and Han Muzi’s lips parted suddenly as she said, “Since you have nothing to say, I’ll be leaving now.” With that, she reached out to smack away Ye Moxuan’s arm and prepared to leave the place.
However, Ye Moxuan grabbed her wrist without a word and dragged her forward.
Han Muzi’s expression soured immediately. “What are you doing? Let go of me! Ye Moxuan!!”
The group of staff witnessed the scene in fear. What is happening? Did that woman directly call our Young Master’s name? Could… they be acquainted?
At the thought of the possibility that Han Muzi might know Ye Moxuan, the group of staff almost wet their pants. I just accused that woman in front of the Young Master. Am I about to lose my job? The employee chased after them hastily when he thought of that. “Young Master, please listen to my explanation!”
“Ye Moxuan, did you come here to look for me? If not, please let go of me. Even if you did come here to look for me, please let go of me anyway. I have already terminated the contract with you. If you have any issues, take it up with my lawyer!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 447
Ye Moxuan lost his cool and grabbed both her hands, pinning her against the stone-cold wall.
The group of employees, who were following them from behind, stared wide-eyed in shock when they saw that. They stopped dead in their tracks and lost the courage to approach them. It seems like Han Muzi is not only acquainted with our Young Master; in fact, they seem to have a rather special relationship?
This commotion was happening right in front of the employees and many people were affected, so several people stuck their heads out of their offices to check out what was happening. Their eyes bulged wide in surprise when they saw the scene before them.
“What is happening? Who is this woman? Why is Young Master…”
“Wow, they seem to have a special relationship… Is our Young Master falling for someone?”
Someone answered after a pause, “That’s impossible. How could a cold Devil fall in love? You must be joking.”
Many people were watching them and discussing in hushed tones. Ye Moxuan had pinned both of Han Muzi’s arms against the wall, putting her in a very humiliating position. Han Muzi’s cheeks flushed red and she glared at Ye Moxuan in anger. “What do you want? Does it excite you to humiliate me in front of a crowd?”
Her gaze was calm and detached, and it made Ye Moxuan realize the crowd that had gathered around them. He was so irritated by her that he lost his rationality. He scanned his surroundings sharply before bellowing at the top of his lungs, “Get lost!”
The icy-cold aura which shrouded him exploded in every direction. Employees who had their heads poked out of the offices and those who were standing in the corridor all flinched involuntarily as a result of this. They instantly vanished without another word. In the next second, the crowded corridor became incredibly quiet because everyone had disappeared.
Han Muzi was panting lightly while glaring at Ye Moxuan who was inches away from her.
“Is this fine now?” Ye Moxuan stared at her steely eyes unblinkingly. He squinted at her menacingly and continued, “You told me to take it up with your lawyer. Did you even check if your lawyer is qualified?”
Han Muzi kept quiet.
Although he instructed his employees to disappear, the scene earlier had happened anyway. She bit her lower lip and exclaimed in frustration, “Mr. Ye, if you think that my lawyer is not qualified for this, you are free to let your assistant discuss matters with my lawyer then. I’m sure that would be fine, right? I am busy, and I don’t have time to waste over here now!” With that, she struggled violently. She wanted to shake Ye Moxuan off, but her strength couldn’t match his. Instead, Ye Moxuan subdued her single-handedly and pinched her chin up with his free hand.
“Why did you come here out of the blue?”
“That’s none of your business! Let me go!” Han Muzi yelled at him in anger as she was in pain from the pinching of her cheeks.
“Did you come to check the surveillance footage?” Ye Moxuan changed the topic suddenly. Han Muzi was confused by that, and before she could respond, the hand that was gripping onto her wrist slid down and held onto her hand. After that, he walked straight into the building. He dragged her along.
Once they were gone, the employees started poking their heads out again.
Over here, Ye Moxuan was regarded as the cold Devil. As he dragged Han Muzi into the control room from earlier, the group of employees inside regarded him in fear while standing up abruptly. “Y-Young Master Ye.”
Han Muzi was planning to ignore him, but judging by his current actions, it appeared as if he was willing to show her the recordings.
In that case, would I be able to watch the footage I missed earlier? Han Muzi stopped resisting and instead, glanced at Ye Moxuan. “Can I watch the surveillance footage?”
“Why not?” Ye Moxuan asked rhetorically. What is there that my woman isn’t allowed to do? “Show me all the surveillance videos,” he instructed coldly.
The employees were stumped for a while, but they pulled out all the footage hastily.
After that, Ye Moxuan lowered his gaze to Han Muzi who was standing right beside him. His tone was surprisingly gentle. “Is there a particular time stamp you’d like to watch?”
Han Muzi was astounded, but she lowered her eyes and processed her thoughts. She then gave a time period and several locations.
“Pull those footages out now.”
“Yes, Young Master Ye!”
Soon, the videos with the specific time stamps requested by Han Muzi were displayed on the screen. Han Muzi took a couple of steps forward instinctively since she wanted to get closer to get a better view. However, there was a sudden tug on her arm after she took a few steps forward.
It turned out that Ye Moxuan was still holding her hand.
Han Muzi lowered her head and the look in her eyes changed. He is… holding onto my hand. Our fingers are intertwined. This man…
Han Muzi bit her lip while a surge of emotions overwhelmed her. Didn’t he say that he is married? Why is he always showing up in front of me? Besides, why is he always so shameless around me? What is going on in his mind? Doesn’t his wife care about him?
Ye Moxuan took a couple of steps forward, and his voice came from above. “Why are you spacing out? Didn’t you want to see this footage?”
Han Muzi snapped back to reality. Forget it. I shouldn’t care about it so much. I should just watch the surveillance recordings first. Hence, Han Muzi turned around to focus and watch the surveillance footage. She stopped considering whether Ye Moxuan was still holding onto her hand.
She was watching the surveillance recordings seriously, whereas Ye Moxuan was staring intently at her. This woman has changed so much. Right now, she is mature and charming. She might be colder than before, but she is even prettier now. Time has not left a mark on her face; in fact, her face is as wonderful as before.
“Stop!” Han Muzi cried out suddenly. “Please replay that one.”
Ye Moxuan shot his employee a steely glare. He didn’t even have to say anything for them to carry out his instructions.
Han Muzi stared at the screen, and she finally spotted the suspicious figure she saw in the previous video. “This must be the person.”
Ye Moxuan glanced at the screen upon hearing her say that. He instructed straight away without a second thought, “Send the message out to search for this person. Bring that person to me before midnight tonight.”
Han Muzi was astounded when she asked him hesitantly, “I don’t think this is any of your concern though?”
Ye Moxuan scowled at her. How could she have the audacity to say that in front of my employees? He laughed mirthlessly without replying to her. He wrapped an arm around her waist to make a point. “None of my concern, you say? You do know that not any Tom, Dick, and Harry is allowed in this room, right?”
“You brought me in here. I didn’t ask you to.” Han Muzi then took her cell phone out and took a picture of the person on the screen after announcing that. Then, she turned around to leave.
“Are you leaving just like that?” Ye Moxuan held onto her.
She paused and frowned slightly before thanking him, “Mr. Ye, thank you very much for today. I shall forgive you for your rudeness when we were outside earlier since you helped me with this matter. However, there won’t be a second time.” With that, she shook Ye Moxuan’s hand off aggressively and marched out of the room.
Initially, she thought Ye Moxuan wouldn’t come after her. However, when she got outside, she realized with a start that Ye Moxuan had been following her all along.
“Stop following me.”
“I don’t agree to terminate our contract.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 448
He doesn’t want to terminate the contract? Han Muzi was stunned for a few seconds, but she snapped back to her senses soon enough and smiled at Ye Moxuan. “What does that have to do with me?”
Ye Moxuan’s gaze darkened when he heard her. “What does that have to do with you? I am your client. Are you saying that it does not concern you that I refuse to let you terminate the contract?”
“Mr. Ye, you should understand one thing. Terminating the contract is a one-sided issue. According to the contract, I just have to pay the full penalty if I decide to terminate it. Other than that, this has nothing to do with me.”
Ye Moxuan remained silent upon hearing that and just stared at her. After a while, he smirked at her. “Are you so desperate to shake me off? How would you know I won’t make another order after you terminate this contract?”
Han Muzi responded with a start, “How dare you?!”
“If I’m not mistaken, your company has several fashion designers, right?” Ye Moxuan commented and cocked his brow pointedly at her.
Han Muzi was at a loss for words. I’ve miscalculated. I didn’t expect Ye Moxuan to be so shameless. Her lips parted, but she couldn’t say a thing.
Ye Moxuan took a step forward and asked, “Are you still planning to terminate the contract?”
Han Muzi hesitated before asking in a resigned manner, “What exactly is it that you want?” She stared at Ye Moxuan with a sardonic look. Despite wearing high heels, he was still almost half a head taller than her. She even had to look up to meet his gaze throughout their conversation. His forceful presence shrouded over her, and it felt rather overwhelming.
“What do I want?” Ye Moxuan chuckled dryly. His gaze was alluring, but he wore a self-deprecating expression. He spoke very quietly, “Can’t you tell yet what it is that I want?”
Their surroundings were noisy, but that didn’t stop Han Muzi from clearly hearing Ye Moxuan’s deep and seductive voice. It immediately affected her thoughts and judgment.
She abruptly took a step back and hissed at him through gritted teeth, “Please conduct yourself with dignity, Mr. Ye. I believe your wife at home wouldn’t be too pleased if she knew what you were doing. Don’t you think your actions are very unfair to her?”
Ye Moxuan stared at her in bewilderment.
“After five years, have you become a shameless person that doesn’t take other people’s feelings into consideration?”
When he saw the disappointment in her gaze, alarm bells rang in Ye Moxuan’s mind. It honestly looks like she has no clue.
Ye Moxuan pursed his thin lips before stating coldly, “Who told you that I have a wife at home?”
Han Muzi scowled at him. What does he mean? “Mr. Ye, you must be joking; you said so yourself.”
“Oh?” Ye Moxuan chuckled before asking her, “Are you jealous then?”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his response. What has that got to do with me? She suppressed her anger, and replied to him with an icy tone, “I truly have some important matters to attend to. I can’t waste my time here with you.”
“Alright.” Ye Moxuan folded his arms in front of his chest. “There is ample time. I, Ye Moxuan, have nothing, if not time—to wait for you. We will discuss matters between us after you have your issue sorted.”
Han Muzi ignored him completely; she immediately marched toward Mr. Nan’s car. This time, Ye Moxuan didn’t go after her.
Mr. Nan saw Han Muzi approaching the car, but when he saw Ye Moxuan standing in the distance as well, he asked her, “Miss, are you alright?”
Han Muzi shook her head. “Mr. Nan, don’t worry; I’m fine. Let’s go back to the company.”
She promptly got into the car, but Mr. Nan glanced at Ye Moxuan again, and his gaze reflected some complex emotions. He then followed suit and entered the car.
Once they left, Ye Moxuan took his phone out and phoned Xiao Su. “Find out why she is with the Han Family.”
Xiao Su felt his heart sink upon receiving this call from Ye Moxuan. I haven’t told him that Han Muzi is with the Han Family. How did he find out?
However, before Xiao Su could respond, Ye Moxuan already hung up. Xiao Su listened to the beeping tone over the phone and felt a dreading sense of despair. Great. It’s time to get busy again.
…
Han Muzi returned to the company, and it turned out that news of the incident with the evening gown had already gotten out. When she was about to return to her office, she saw Zhang Yu anxiously waiting for her at the entrance to her office.
Upon seeing Han Muzi, Zhang Yu rushed over to speak to her. “You’re back.”
Han Muzi glanced at her calmly and nodded. She then pushed open her office door and entered the room, with Zhang Yu following closely behind.
“You were looking for me?” Han Muzi asked.
Zhang Yu nodded, and she looked pale.
“I wasn’t the one that ruined the evening gown designed by Leng Yueyue.”
Hearing that, Han Muzi paused and stretched to take her jacket off. While hanging it on a nearby rack, she turned to face Zhang Yu and said, “When did I say you were the one that ruined it?”
“Y-You believe me?” Zhang Yu asked. The color had drained from her face, and she bit her lower lip. “How could you possibly trust me? I’ve said some horrible things about you in the past.”
Han Muzi walked toward her desk to transfer the pictures she snapped earlier into her computer. “You might want to be more precise.”
Zhang Yu bit her lip in anger. “It’s all their fault; I only found out about it just now. They are saying that I’m jealous, and that is why I ruined Leng Yueyue’s work! I-I might not usually be the nicest person around, but… I wouldn’t do such a thing. Besides, I’m a girl! How could I possibly have the physical strength to do all that?” Zhang Yu got more agitated the more she explained. She felt extremely wronged, and tears started rolling down her cheeks.
“That’s right, I am angry. I’m angry that you chose Leng Yueyue’s design. What’s wrong with our work? Why should she be the only one to have her work displayed in the exhibition hall? But even though I’m angry and even if it had crossed my mind, I wouldn’t do something like that,.”
Han Muzi finally understood what she meant after listening to her explanation. She slowly looked up at Zhang Yu and met her gaze. “Are you saying that you wanted to do that?”
Zhang Yu was stumped, but she retorted loudly, “That’s right! I am bitter, and I wanted to do that! But I did not! I didn’t ruin her work! Why should I stomach others’ slander?”
Han Muzi sighed in resignation when she heard that. “Did I accuse you?”
Zhang Yu stopped crying when she heard that. “What do you mean? Are you saying that… you didn’t suspect me?”
“Why would I suspect you?” Han Muzi gazed at her calmly. “You should leave. I have some matters to attend to.” Her constant crying will affect my emotions and disrupt my train of thought.
Zhang Yu blinked several times while staring at Han Muzi before regaining her composure. “I thought you were the same as the rest of them, and that you’d suspect me. Who would have thought you would—”
“You should leave first. If it’s not too much trouble, please get Yan to come in and see me.”
“Sure!” Zhang Yu nodded immediately before turning around to leave.
Not too long after Zhang Yu left, Yan entered the office. “What is it? Zhang Yu’s eyes were bloodshot from crying. She didn’t cause any trouble for you, I hope?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 449
“Is she able to cause trouble for me?” Han Muzi glanced at Yan calmly before beckoning her. Yan approached and asked, “What is it?”
“Look at this photograph.” Han Muzi pointed at the screen in front of her.

Yan looked up and focused on the picture in front of her. “Who would recognize a person wrapped up in so many layers?”
“This person entered our company last night.’
Yan’s eyes popped wide open. “Y-You managed to find out?”
“Mm-hmm, I saw him from two different camera angles. Although he is very skilled at avoiding most of the blind spots… he left some clues along the way. Judging by the way he moves, he should be very familiar with the area. He must have planned everything meticulously, and he was just waiting for the right time.”
Yan caught something from Han Muzi’s claims. “If he’s been waiting for the right time, this person must have been holding a grudge against us.”
Han Muzi couldn’t help but smile faintly upon hearing that. “If he hadn’t held a grudge against us, why would he not steal anything after breaking in, and merely vandalized our property? Under these circumstances, it narrows down the possibilities.”
“Hmph, why don’t we lodge a police report to arrest this person as soon as possible? I put a lot of effort into decorating the site. In the end, the culprit destroyed everything. It still makes me mad just thinking about it.”
Han Muzi ignored Yan’s wishes of lodging a police report. Instead, she asked Yan indifferently, “Who do you think would want to ruin the evening gown?”
Yan blurted without a second thought, “Who else could it be? The perpetrator either has something against the person wearing the evening gown, or they hold a grudge against the designer of the evening gown.”
“In that case, which one do you think it is?” Han Muzi glanced at Yan as if waiting for an answer.
Yan froze for a while; she stared blankly at Han Muzi and blinked several times. “Are you kidding me? There’s always a possibility in either one of them. If you ask me which one has a higher chance, I’d say both options are equally plausible.”
“We have to break it down to analyze the situation. The designer is Leng Yueyue, and judging from her previous achievements, we don’t know who holds a grudge against her. However, since the culprit has everything so meticulously planned, he would have needed time to make some arrangements beforehand. Hence, if the perpetrator holds a grudge against the designer, it would have been from the time Leng Yueyue received that project, so we can safely narrow down the list of suspects to within our office and that list would include me.”
Yan reached out and touched Han Muzi’s forehead when she heard that. “Are you feeling alright?”
“What is it?”
“Do you suspect the employees of our company?”
Han Muzi answered in exasperation, “I’m analyzing the situation with you seriously.”
“Alright, go on. What happens after narrowing it down to the people in our office?”
“Do you know what Zhang Yu did when she dropped by my office just now?”
“What did she do?”
“She told me everyone is accusing her of ruining Leng Yueyue’s work. What do you think?”
“To be honest, if you look at things from their point of view, that could be a possibility. Zhang Yu is always openly jealous of a lot of things.”
“That’s right.” Han Muzi nodded and stood up, continuing her analysis. “Zhang Yu became the main suspect after Leng Yueyue’s work had been destroyed because she’s always so blatantly jealous.”
Yan finally understood what Han Muzi meant. “After saying all that, are you trying to say that Zhang Yu is not the person who destroyed Leng Yueyue’s work?”
“The louder the person is, the more likely they would end up as a scapegoat. If she truly did it, she would have felt guilty. Why would she come to me and complain about it? Besides, I didn’t even suspect her from the beginning.”
“Well, who do you suspect?” Yan stepped in front of Han Muzi and reached out to hold onto her shoulder. “I don’t want to listen to your long-winded theory. Just tell me who the culprit is.”
Han Muzi regarded an impatient Yan, and couldn’t help but flick a finger against Yan’s head. “Why can’t you use your brain for a change?”
“I… You are indirectly saying that I’m stupid again!” snorted Yan, and she turned away immediately.
“Do you still remember who we met in Su City?”
Who did we meet? Yan was lost in thought, and it wasn’t after several moments before she recalled with a start. Her eyes bulged in shock and she answered, “I know! Zhao Yiru!”
Han Muzi was still in a daze when Yan blurted the name ‘Zhao Yiru’ because she recalled the existence of this person, but she couldn’t recall her name. “You do remember.”
“Is it her? I recall now. Previously, she made an appointment with us to design her evening gown. However, she was too arrogant, crude, and impolite. That is why we ended the contract with her.”
Han Muzi nodded promptly. “Mm-hmm, but I heard from Qing that she sued us. However… Qing got it sorted for us.”
“That is the reason she has been holding a grudge.”
“This is happening because she holds a grudge against us, coupled with the fact that Lin Xinghuo will be attending the same press conference as she is. They are even making an appearance simultaneously. Zhao Yiru is killing two birds with one stone, and she has been planning this from the very beginning.”
Han Muzi inhaled deeply. “Of course, these are all merely speculations. The truth… remains to be verified.”
“I think she’s most probably the culprit. Not only does she hold a grudge against us, but she also wants to harm Lin Xinghuo. I know for a fact that she has been locked in fierce competition with Lin Xinghuo over income sources. She is planning to steal Lin Xinghuo’s limelight.”
Han Muzi suddenly felt exhausted when she heard that. She walked back to her chair and sat down quietly.
“Well, what should we do now? The evening gown is beyond repair. Should we… lodge a police report to arrest her?”
Han Muzi shook her head. “She came prepared. It might be a bit late for us to lodge a police report now. Furthermore, we already know who the true culprit is. I believe in… an eye for an eye.”
“An eye for an eye?” Yan stared at her wide-eyed. “What are you planning to do?”
“However, if we want to take revenge, we need to verify our claims. I’m handing this matter to you.”
“Me?” Yan pointed at herself in shock. “You can’t be serious?”
“Mm-hmm, you.” Han Muzi patted her shoulder before adding, “Go for it, Yan! Collect the evidence, and we can make our move.”
“What will you be doing while I’m collecting the evidence?”
“Accompany Lin Xinghuo. I can’t very well ruin my reputation, can I?”
Speak of the Devil. Right after she said that, someone pushed open her office door. However, no one entered; instead, someone poked their head in and looked around the office.
“Is there anyone here?” Lin Xinghuo asked while scanning the room.
Yan and Han Muzi were both at a loss for words when they saw her.
Her manager pressed Lin Xinghuo’s head down and smiled stiffly at them. “I’m so sorry you had to see that.”
“Hey, let go of me!” Lin Xinghuo swatted her manager’s hand. Then, she pushed open the door before throwing herself at Han Muzi. “Ahh! My goddess, I’m here!”
Han Muzi hesitated before inviting her in. “Please have a seat!”
Lin Xinghuo’s movements paused awkwardly while she swept her gaze from Han Muzi to Yan. “I’m here to look at the evening gown.”
Han Muzi asked feebly, “Weren’t you at the filming set? How did you come over so fast?”
“I rushed over straight away at the thought of the piece that had been personally designed by my goddess. We were even followed by some paparazzi on our way here, but we managed to lose them.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 450
Lin Xinghuo walked to the chair in front of the desk and sat down. Then, she took off the silk scarf around her neck and tied her long hair up. “When are we going to get to see the dress?”
Upon hearing that from Lin Xinghuo, Yan shot Han Muzi a puzzled look.
Han Muzi withdrew her gaze calmly and said to Yan softly, “Go do your work first. Leave this to me; I will contact you after we’re done.”
“Okay then. I’ll take my leave now.”
After Yan left, Lin Xinghuo looked at Han Muzi and smiled. “When are you taking me to see the new dress?”
Han Muzi crossed her arms in front of her chest. “If I tell you that I want to work on that dress, are you willing to accept it?”
“Work on it?” Lin Xinghuo didn’t understand what Han Muzi meant, but her facial features scrunched up into a frown. “I can see that the dress in the photo is already damaged beyond repair. Are you still able to work on it? No way, goddess! I love you so much, yet you are planning to let me wear that torn dress?”
Toward the end of her exclamations, Lin Xinghuo looked like she was about to cry. She continued, “But if you are willing to fix the dress personally, I’m willing to wear it even if it’s a rag.” She looked like a kitten with a pitiful expression on her face.
Her manager rolled his eyes and pretended that he didn’t know anything.
“I’m just kidding! I have already inspected that dress—it’s more than 60% damaged. If I wanted to repair it, it would be more work than drawing up a new design. You are lucky—follow me.”
When Lin Xinghuo heard that, she immediately followed Han Muzi like a rabbit bouncing after her. Her manager was silent for a while and quickly followed suit.
Lin Xinghuo’s temperament was quite volatile—Chen Fei knew about this already, but he had never seen her admire a person so much. At first, he thought, Isn’t she just a designer? However, after looking into Han Muzi’s details and her past, he found out that the awards she had previously received were incredibly prestigious. Apart from that, he realized that if she wanted to, she could set off a trend in their industry. However, it seemed that she was very low-key. Even though she started the company with the name ‘Shelly’, she didn’t specifically promote her achievements.
“Are we going there by car?” Lin Xinghuo asked after entering the elevator.
Han Muzi nodded. “Yes, we are going to my house.”
“Y-Your house?” Lin Xinghuo was stunned for a while before asking, “Where do you stay?”
Chen Fei sighed and answered, “Shelly’s mandarin name is Han Muzi. The surname, Han, is rare in North City. Is it the same Han that we are thinking about?” When he finished his question, his lips twitched into an awkward smile.
“What are you guys thinking?” Han Muzi gave Chen Fei a puzzled look with a blank expression in her eyes. Is the surname Han rare in North City? I didn’t know about this.
“Ahem…” Chen Fei cleared his throat. “I wonder if you are acquainted with Han Qing?”
Han Muzi nodded. “Of course.”
Chen Fei’s eyes widened immediately. When he was just about to ask another question, he was taken aback by Han Muzi’s next sentence. “He is my brother.”
Chen Fei was astounded when he heard that.
Han Muzi smiled slightly and then whispered, “But my brother is at his company now. You won’t meet him when you arrive, so don’t worry.”
Lin Xinghuo nodded as if she didn’t know the magnitude of this revelation. “Okay.” However, turbulent emotions were raging within her. It seemed that not only was her idol excellent, her family was too. She couldn’t believe that Han Muzi was actually from the Han Family in North City!
Apart from the Ye Family, which had supported half the economy in North City, the Han Family was indispensable as well. The President of the Han Group—Han Qing—had appeared on the cover of financial magazines several times, and even did personal interviews.
Lin Xinghuo had also read some articles about Han Qing back then. From there, she got the impression that he was a man of few words, and that he was very reliable. However, there was someone even more apathetic than him—Ye Moxuan of the Ye Family. She heard that he was not even willing to accept interviews.
For a while, Lin Xinghuo thought that all corporate presidents were as cold as them. After some time, she found out that she was too naive—the remaining presidents whom she saw later were either quite plump or had beer-bellies. They were quite talkative and not aloof at all. Apart from that, they even eyed her lecherously. Except for a few upright ones, the rest weren’t made of any decent stock.
When they reached the Han residence, Han Muzi took Lin Xinghuo upstairs.
This was the first time she had brought an outsider into the Han residence. Of course, to Han Muzi, Yan was not considered an outsider; she was considered family.
“Your house is so big.” Lin Xinghuo was a popular celebrity who was pretty wealthy herself, but after arriving at the Han residence, she realized that her wealth was nothing compared to theirs. The life of the rich was really out of her imagination!
The design of the Han residence did not look like it was built from luxurious and branded items, but it exuded a noble and exquisite aura from the core. Every item was of the highest quality and oozed with elegance.
If someone had lived in such an environment since they were a child and received the most prestigious education with targeted training, their temperament would radiate from the inside out. The Han residence gave her such a feeling, and at this moment, Lin Xinghuo felt that the decorations in her own house were designed by a rich person without any taste.
That’s right! That’s how I feel now!
Pushing open the door, Han Muzi turned and looked at Lin Xinghuo. “Come in with me.”
As soon as Chen Fei heard this, he cleared his throat slightly. “I shan’t go in then, as it’s your bedroom. I’ll just wait here. Xinghuo, when it’s over, just tell me. I will just take a stroll downstairs.”
Han Muzi looked at Chen Fei and then beckoned to the servant next to him. “Take Mr. Zhang downstairs to rest for a while and serve him properly.”
“Yes, Young Lady.”
Soon, the servant took Chen Fei and left.
Lin Xinghuo followed Han Muzi into the room. This was not Han Muzi’s room; instead, it was a showroom specially built by Han Qing for Han Muzi. Who would have thought that there was another world inside the closed door?
After entering, Lin Xinghuo was stunned by the sight in front of her. She stared at the dazzling array of design works in front of her. As Han Muzi was her idol, she could recognize her works at first glance. Every one of her works was displayed here.
Entering this place again, Han Muzi was moved. She only knew about the existence of this showroom because Su Jiu had let it slip to her. After she became a designer, Han Qing, as her elder brother, would buy every work she designed and stored them at home.
Most of Han Muzi’s productions were only made into one or two pieces. Except for some tailored individual orders, all of her works were here. Most of them were shown to the public, but they were never seen again after being bought at a high price.
