Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 521
Little Bean must have heard a sound because he turned around after putting on his T-shirt. He then flashed her a bright smile. “Mommy, good morning!”
Han Muzi froze for a while, but she happily returned his smile. She walked toward him and patted his head. “Wash up and let’s have breakfast downstairs. I’ll send you to school later.”
“Ok!” Little Bean nodded eagerly. Then, he went into the bathroom to wash up.
After the two of them were done, they went downstairs together for breakfast. However, they were not greeted with the usual delicious fragrance of rice. Instead, they saw Han Qing sitting alone in the living room.
“Uncle Qing.” When he saw Han Qing, Little Bean ran toward Han Qing with his short legs for a hug. Han Qing picked him up with an arm. “Have you washed up? I’ll take you all out for breakfast before sending you to school.”
“Eh?” Little Bean exclaimed in confusion. “Isn’t Aunt Yan preparing breakfast today?”
He pursed his lips without saying a word and thought to himself, She will most probably not come downstairs until I leave.
“That’s right. Isn’t Yan up yet?” Han Muzi propped her chin on her knuckles as she thought to herself, That doesn’t seem right. Based on Yan’s character, despite sleeping late last night, she wouldn’t stay in bed for so long.
“I’ll check on her, and see if she’s still in bed.” Han Muzi was about to turn around, but Han Qing stopped her. “Forget it.”
“Huh?” Han Muzi stopped dead in her tracks and turned around to gaze at Han Qing suspiciously. “What is it?”
Under her scrutiny, Han Qing felt rather embarrassed to explain further. Hence, he coughed into his fist and brushed things off. “There’s not much time left. Let her sleep; we can go ahead for breakfast. You can phone her later or she can catch up with us as well.”
Han Muzi checked the time and thought Han Qing’s suggestion made sense. Hence, she didn’t think much of it; instead, she nodded and took her handbag. They then brought along Little Bean and left together.
When they were waiting for the elevator, Han Muzi phoned Yan. However, Yan didn’t pick up her phone, despite Han Muzi trying twice.
“That’s strange. Why isn’t she answering her phone?” she complained in bewilderment.
Han Qing, who was standing right beside her, hesitated before glancing sideways at Han Muzi’s phone. “Maybe send her a message?”
Han Muzi asked doubtfully, “Would a message wake her up when a phone call can’t? Let me try calling again.”
Ding! The elevator arrived just then, and Han Muzi had no choice but to enter the elevator.
There was no reception in the elevator, so Han Muzi ended the phone call after weighing her options. She composed a message to Yan, telling her to update her once she was up and done with her morning preparations.
When she was done typing the message, Han Muzi sent it out the moment they got out of the elevator. Han Muzi and Little Bean waited at the entrance of the residential community since Han Qing was driving the car over.
Little Bean was most probably still feeling groggy because he leaned against Han Muzi’s legs in a lopsided manner while hugging her with both arms. Han Muzi patted his head gently while she called Yan with her other hand. In the end, Yan did not answer her phone call, leaving Han Muzi utterly befuddled. What is wrong with this girl today? Forget waking up late, why is it so difficult to wake her up? Did something happen?
Just when she was considering the possibilities, Yan replied to her message via WeChat, ‘You guys go ahead with breakfast. I’m not tagging along.’
Initially, Han Muzi wanted to ask what was the issue, but something struck her. She wasn’t around when we were talking about going out for breakfast. How would she know that I’m calling her out for breakfast?
After piecing together Han Qing’s reaction earlier, Han Muzi felt as if she was onto something. She then narrowed her eyes suspiciously. ‘Did you do something naughty again?’
‘Huh? What nonsense is that? How could I possibly do anything naughty?’ Yan’s message revealed that she was losing her temper, and so Han Muzi couldn’t help but smile broadly while shaking her head in resignation.
‘Do you think I don’t know you after being friends for so many years? Would you give up the chance of interacting with your crush without a valid reason?’
‘Hmph, let’s assume you’ve guessed correctly. Anyway, you shouldn’t spout nonsense. Besides, I will not be having breakfast with you because I’ll have it at home.’
‘Alright. Good luck. Seize the chance of becoming Mrs. Han as soon as possible.’ Han Muzi kept her phone after she was done teasing Yan.
After breakfast, Han Qing and Han Muzi sent Little Bean to school. Since it was along the way, Han Qing drove Han Muzi to the company as well. Yan was already in the office by the time Han Muzi arrived.
Yan turned around and ran in the opposite direction when she saw Han Muzi.
“Stop right there,” Han Muzi called for her. She squinted at Yan suspiciously. “Why are you so afraid of me? What despicable things did you do this morning?’
Yan’s back was facing Han Muzi, and she just wouldn’t turn to face her. She finally snorted after a long pause, “There’s nothing to explain. Things are just as how you know they are. It’s up to you what you want to think. I-I’m off to work.” With that, Yan left Han Muzi swiftly.
Han Muzi burst out laughing while looking at Yan’s back view. Then, she walked to her desk in a relaxed manner. Han Muzi’s head started throbbing when she saw a pile of design drawings on her desk. So much work has accumulated. I suppose I’m going to be extremely busy in the next few days. After completing these, I still have to draw a design for Ye Moxuan.
Han Muzi was busy sorting out the pile of design drawings and documents all morning. It was already noon by the time she was done. After lunch, Han Muzi wasn’t planning on resting because she wanted to continue with work. However, Yan barged into her office in a panic. “Lin Qingqing is here.”
Han Muzi was stunned for a moment at the mention of Lin Qingqing’s name. After that, she looked up at Yan. “She’s here?”
“Mm-hmm.” Yan nodded while looking alert. “Should I call the police? What if…”
“No need for that.” Han Muzi shook her head. “Let her come in.”
“Muzi, what will you do if she tries to hurt you again? I think it’s best we call the police.” Yan took her phone out swiftly. She looked as if she was about to phone the police.
“I am confident she wouldn’t harm me. Let her in. I have something to discuss with her.”
“But…” Yan was still hesitant.
“Don’t worry. Go ahead; I’ll be fine.”
In the end, Yan had no choice but to invite Lin Qingqing in reluctantly.
Lin Qingqing did not come empty-handed, and neither was she alone. Mrs. Lin was right behind her, and she was smiling when she entered the office.
Mrs. Lin immediately flashed Han Muzi an apologetic look when she saw her. “I’m so sorry, Miss Han. Are we bothering your lunchtime by dropping by at this hour?”
With that, She nudged Lin Qingqing who was standing beside her. Lin Qingqing looked especially uncomfortable, but she pouted anyway. “I don’t think so. Why would we be a bother since we are only in her office?”
Mrs. Lin’s smile stiffened across her face, and she snapped sternly, “Is that the way to speak?”
Lin Qingqing seemed very uncomfortable. “I promised her that I’d stay in jail to repent and reflect upon my sins. However… since we have resolved the issue privately, the police wouldn’t let me stay any longer.” She looked at Han Muzi awkwardly. “It’s not that I’m breaking my promise; these things are just out of my control. Mother and I came over immediately upon my release,” she explained.
“Is that so?” Han Muzi had a calm expression. After that, she pointed at the couch across the room. “Have a seat.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 522
Yan stood behind Han Muzi from the very beginning, and after both parties were seated, she had her eyes glued on Lin Qingqing. She was on high alert.
Yan stared at Lin Qingqing, as though afraid that she might stand up suddenly, brandish something from her pocket, and splash it at Han Muzi. Ye Moxuan was around the last time, but he isn’t here today. Who would shield Muzi if something similar were to happen again? That is why I have to protect Muzi.
Yan’s gaze must have appeared extremely focused because Lin Qingqing shot her a strange look. Then, she complained, “What’s up with your gaze? I told you I wouldn’t attack her. Don’t you trust that I wouldn’t attack her since I’ve sworn a divine oath that I’d suffer a horrible death otherwise?”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by her outburst.
Yan snapped at Lin Qingqing, “Pfft! Who would believe you even if you swore an oath? Besides, I don’t trust that you’ve turned over a new leaf after what you did previously. Muzi is most probably the only person magnanimous enough to forgive you.”
Yan was blunt with her words, and the color drained from Lin Qingqing’s face. Han Muzi did not stop Yan as well; instead, she observed the situation calmly.
Lin Qingqing was furious, but she suppressed her anger. She snorted in disdain, “You have the right to say whatever you want and I can’t stop you. I can only use my actions to prove otherwise!” With that, she stood up and faced Han Muzi.
Yan panicked immediately. “What are you doing? You—” However, she didn’t complete her sentence because she was staring wide-eyed in shock at Lin Qingqing.
Lin Qingqing, who was standing upright just a moment ago, bowed deeply and suddenly at Han Muzi. Her back and head were bent low and forward while looking especially sincere. Her abrupt movements shocked Mrs. Lin as well, and she stared at her in astonishment since this hadn’t been discussed beforehand.
“I’m sorry. I want to apologize for my horrible behavior. I promise you that I will not repeat my mistakes. Since I’ve caused such distress to you, I’m willing to promise you one condition. I will fulfill anything you’d like me to do!”
Yan was astounded as well because she wasn’t expecting such behavior from Lin Qingqing.
Mrs. Lin looked pleased. “Miss Han, Qingqing is sincere about changing this time. Well, just look… After her release, she washed up and dragged me along to purchase these, claiming that she wanted to apologize to you. In the past, she was headstrong, but she is serious about changing that now.”
Han Muzi glanced at them calmly, as if she wasn’t moved or surprised by Lin Qingqing’s actions.
At that moment, Han Muzi’s composure made Mrs. Lin realize the reason her daughter lost to this woman.
The two of them are in completely different leagues. My daughter might be pretty, but Han Muzi’s beauty is on par with Lin Qingqing. Furthermore… Muzi has a unique temperament. A person’s temperament and elegance are often associated with their cultivation and maturity. It’s evident that Lin Qingqing doesn’t have what Han Muzi has, but the latter also lacks the youthful vigor of Qingqing. However, if Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan knew each other from before, he must have met a version of Han Muzi that possessed youthful vigor in the past. Right now… he would only fall deeper in love with Han Muzi and her maturity.
Everything became clear to Mrs. Lin when she concluded that.
“You wouldn’t even have the chance to stand in front of me if I hadn’t forgiven you. There’s no need to buy me things. As for the condition you mentioned, I just hope that… you won’t disturb me anymore.”
Lin Qingqing asked incredulously, “That’s it?”
“Huh?”
“Aren’t you… going to make life difficult for me? After all, I tried ruining your face previously.”
Han Muzi smiled faintly. “Firstly, you injured Mr. Ye, and not me. Secondly, since I’ve forgiven you, it would be indecent of me to make life difficult for you.”
The more magnanimous Han Muzi was, the more Lin Qingqing felt petty and insignificant in comparison.
“Alright, I lose to you willingly. I agree with your condition as well. However… if you’re not with him for a very long time, I-I will work hard to compete through proper methods.”
Han Muzi was stunned to silence, and she looked up at Lin Qingqing. Does she want to compete with me for Ye Moxuan?
Han Muzi lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. “That’s up to you.”
“These gifts…”
“Those are unnecessary; it’s fine as long as you’re sincere.” Han Muzi stood up before speaking steadily, “Yan, see Mrs. Lin and Miss Lin out, please.”
Mrs. Lin had bought a pile of things, but she didn’t expect Han Muzi to reject them. Hence, she panicked and blurted, “We brought these here as an apology to you. Since you’ve accepted our apology, Miss Han, why don’t you accept our gifts? It will be tricky for us to bring these back because we picked these out specifically for you.”
“Mrs. Lin, that’s very kind of you, but these things are unnecessary to me. Besides… you should be thanking Aunty Song this time.”
Mrs. Lin was astounded when she heard that. She couldn’t help but realize how generous and bright Han Muzi was. She must have guessed that this incident has caused some friction between Song An and myself. She mentioned it on purpose to help relieve the tension between the two of us. This Muzi has put so much care and thought into this.
“I know, and I have to thank her for how things turned out this time. I will personally thank her, but you have to accept our gifts.” Mrs. Lin then placed the gifts on the table before tugging at Lin Qingqing’s hand. “Thank you so much, Miss Han. Qingqing and I shall not bother you further; we are leaving now.”
With that, she left the office with her daughter.
However, Lin Qingqing turned around to glance at Han Muzi and raised her voice. “I picked those things out. It’s my way of apologizing to you sincerely, and so you’d be looking down on me if you refuse to accept them—”
“Hey you, shoosh…”
The two of them then left the office.
Han Muzi glanced at Yan, and she was still standing rooted to the spot with a dazed expression. Yan snapped back to reality when Han Muzi squinted at her pointedly.
“Ah, I’ll send them off right now.
Han Muzi returned to her desk when she was finally alone. I’m rather exhausted, I think I should rest for a while.
Hence, Han Muzi kept her documents and entered the lounge.
The day passed by swiftly due to a busy schedule. When it was time, Han Muzi and Yan picked Little Bean up from school and headed back home. Han Muzi was drained by the end of the day. She then slumped against the couch after taking off her high heels.
However, her phone started vibrating the moment she lay down. She checked her phone and realized that it was a message from Ye Moxuan on WeChat. ‘When are you coming over?’
Han Muzi was at a loss for words. Why does it feel as if he schedules these messages?
She was too lazy to reply to him, and so she put her phone to the side. Just then, Little Bean approached her after putting down his school bag.
“Mommy, we are supposed to take the cats to the veterinary clinic for a check-up today.”
Han Muzi remembered about that as soon as Little Bean reminded her. Thus, she nodded in response. “That’s right. I’ll go with you.”
“Forget it, I’ll take you there,” stated Yan while tugging Little Bean by his collar and dragging him toward herself. Then, she glanced at Han Muzi in disdain. “Just look at how useless your mommy is. She must be exhausted from work. Little Bean, you are a good boy. Let’s take the cats back home, and let your mommy have a rest.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 523
Little Bean and Yan left soon after.
Han Muzi was truly exhausted because she didn’t sleep well last night.
After the house quietened down, Han Muzi fell into a deep sleep while lying on the couch.
She entered a forest in her dream, and the forest was shrouded by a thick layer of fog. She couldn’t tell where she came from, nor could she see the path ahead.
Han Muzi felt lost while standing in the middle of nowhere. What is happening?
“Who is that child’s father?” Suddenly, a cold male voice rang from all directions, and it shocked Han Muzi. She turned around abruptly, trying to find the source of the voice.
However, it was empty all around, and no one was to be found.
“What have you been doing behind my back for the past five years?” The man’s voice got closer, and it sounded powerful and forceful. His strong aura suppressed her, so much so that Han Muzi felt as if she had difficulty looking up.
I did nothing wrong, but the pressure is pushing me backward for some reason.
Suddenly, she felt her back bump against something hard and firm. When Han Muzi turned around, she came face-to-face with a handsome but cold face.
“Ah! It’s you!” Han Muzi cried aloud, and she turned around to run away.
The man’s arm slithered around her slender waist like an iron chain. Then, he pressed against her shoulder with his other hand, effectively pinning her between the tree trunk and his body.
Ye Moxuan was not gentle in her dream at all, and he was different from how he was in reality—when they were under the tree at the hospital entrance.
Han Muzi felt her back against the rough tree trunk, and its rough surface resulted in some painful friction against her back. Furthermore, the man in front of her had clouded eyes, and he emitted an eerie dark aura around him. “Answer me!” he demanded quietly.
Han Muzi kept her eyes lowered, and she was so anxious that she couldn’t speak.
Ye Moxuan pinched her chin, forcing her to look up and meet his gaze. “Spill it! Who is the child’s father? This past five years! Who have you been with behind my back to have that child?”
“Let go of me!” Han Muzi was furious and shoved against him hard. However, she couldn’t push him away because the man’s hands were holding onto her in a death grip. At that critical moment, Han Muzi screamed, “Have you lost your memory? I was already pregnant five years ago, and you knew about it then. This child—”
Before she could finish her sentence, the man before her stared at her in shock after listening to what she said. After a while, he hissed at her while pinching her chin, “Is that the child of the brute? Damn it! Did you truly give birth to that child?! Why are you so shameless?!”
Han Muzi struggled. “Let go of me.”
However, he ignored her screams, and his cold lips, which were void of emotions, pressed against hers without warning. He was rough with his kiss, and his teeth knocked against her lips, immediately drawing blood. Their kiss was soon tainted with the scent of blood.
This kiss… is not gentle at all. It feels rough and reckless. I don’t want it!
“No! Don’t!” Han Muzi cried out in shock while opening her eyes. However, what came into sight was a snowy-white ceiling and a crystal chandelier hanging not too far away.
After being stumped for a good ten seconds or so, Han Muzi wiped away the cold sweat across her forehead.
Why did that happen? I dreamed of Ye Moxuan, and it was such a horrible nightmare. So it turns out that even now, Ye Moxuan is just a nightmare. Five years… It’s been five years now. But, I’ve still yet to conquer the demons of my past. That man… I should have left him in my past.
Han Muzi inhaled deeply when she thought of that. She curled up on the couch, looking like a helpless child.
…
At the hospital.
“Young Master Ye, the porridge is getting cold,” reminded Xiao Su kindly.
Ye Moxuan stared at his phone while scowling deeply. He was clearly in a foul mood.
His expression turned steely when he heard Xiao Su’s reminder. “I don’t need you to remind me,” he snapped icily.
Xiao Su explained tentatively, “It’s not edible anymore.”
“In that case, throw it away,” Ye Moxuan answered promptly.
Xiao Su enquired, “In that case, should I get someone to send a new order over?”
“No!” Ye Moxuan yanked open his collar button in frustration. He felt as if his burning anger was increasing his body temperature as well.
I texted her after working hours; in fact, I gave her sufficient time to get back home. Why isn’t that woman replying to my message? Damn it! Is she so adamant about ignoring me? Why do I have to beg her to drop by so many times? I feel like a masochist begging her to visit me.
However, Ye Moxuan knew that he couldn’t repeat the tactic he applied last night to lure her here. She would most probably be disgusted with me if I were to act pitifully too many times. However… I must see her.
Ye Moxuan was exasperated as he weighed his options.
As Ye Moxuan’s assistant, Xiao Su didn’t want him to be tortured by his feelings and emotions. He wanted to help share the burden with Ye Moxuan.
After considering his options, Xiao Su asked, “Young Master Ye, why don’t—”
“Why don’t, what? Spill it.”
“If Miss Han is reluctant to visit you, you can go to her, Young Master Ye.”
Ye Moxuan paused when he heard that. This is a rather good idea, but…
“We should give Miss Han several days to rest. After all, she must be exhausted after taking care of you at the hospital for the past few days, Young Master Ye. She might collapse if she goes on like this. Young Master Ye, you can take this opportunity to recuperate well while she is resting. Later, once you’re discharged…”
Ye Moxuan finally understood what Xiao Su meant. He then squinted at Xiao Su while staring at him inquisitively.
Xiao Su felt his legs buckle under Ye Moxuan’s scrutiny. He started doubting himself and wondered if he said the wrong thing. Otherwise, why else would Young Master Ye give me such a horrifying look?
”Well, Young Master Ye, if you don’t think what I said would work, let’s—”
“It’s fine,” Ye Moxuan cut him off before he could complete his sentence. “Get someone to send me a fresh meal,” he added.
I have to nourish my body and eat well since I’m trying to recuperate. I can’t continue to let myself go. Besides, I can’t judge things clearly since I’m in the middle of it all. Recently, Han Muzi has been giving it her all to look after me. Now, she even has to return to an accumulated workload. But here I am, trying to get her to see me.
She must have slept last night since it was already so late, but she got out of bed for me. She came over with nothing but a coat over her pajamas.
Ye Moxuan realized what a jerk he was last night when he recalled Han Muzi in pajamas.
Xiao Su was stumped for a while. “Young Master Ye, should I get them to send food over?”
“Mm-hmm.” Ye Moxuan nodded.
“Alright, I’ll get it done right away.” Xiao Su immediately headed out to make a phone call once he got the green light from Ye Moxuan.
Xiao Su felt rather pleased with himself. It looks like my advice is useful after all. It seems I’ve given the right solution this time. However… Young Master Ye is doing all these for that woman.
From Ye Moxuan’s perspective, I am nothing but a negligible assistant with no significant position. Forget it. I, Xiao Su, am not petty enough to compete with a woman for attention.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 524
Han Muzi had been having the time of her life for the past few days because ever since that night, Ye Moxuan stopped pestering her via messages to visit him at the hospital. His contact had been silent in her WeChat APP as if it had never been active before.
Suddenly, Han Muzi felt as if she hadn’t paid her phone bill or that her wireless internet connection at home was faulty. Otherwise… why haven’t I received any WeChat messages from Ye Moxuan?
However, apart from his messages, she was receiving messages from others as usual, and that included phone calls.
Hence, this means that my phone bill isn’t overdue, nor is my wireless internet at home faulty. Ye Moxuan has truly stopped contacting me.
She thought to herself, Perhaps… he is bored because he sees no sense in sending me messages daily just to beg me to visit him in the hospital. After all, not everyone would be silly enough to wait at the same spot for me. Maybe he’s just going back to his normal life. This is a good thing. We all should live our separate lives. However… I feel as if there’s a hole in my heart.
Han Muzi slumped backward on the couch while holding tightly onto her phone. The depressed feeling she felt made her feel slightly disgusted with herself.
I was the one who had been rejecting him. I was also the one who wanted to cut ties with him and never be in contact again. So why do I feel so empty now that he doesn’t contact me? I feel as if something was taken from me.
Perhaps it is just a habit? Ever since we bumped into each other, he has been constantly showing up in my life. He has taken over a large part of my daily life. Humans tend to get used to the company of another person. I got used to his presence. In that case, from now on… I’ll just have to get used to his absence.
Han Muzi calmed down upon deciding that because she was clear-minded now. That’s what I’ll do from now on.
After dinner, Han Muzi relaxed at home. The kittens and mother cat were living in her house now.
The other day after Yan and Little Bean brought the cats to a pet store for some disinfection and deworming procedures, they bought a small cage and took the cats back home.
The mother cat looked after the little kittens well. They all looked much healthier after living in their house for about a week.
Since they found a place called home, the mother cat became very close to Han Muzi and her family. It allowed them to touch its kittens.
After it was done breastfeeding, the mother cat would roll around alone on the balcony under the sun. It would lie lazily on the balcony with half-closed eyes, looking extremely relaxed.
On the other hand, the kindle of kittens would run around on the carpet at home. However, since they were all less than a month old, they were barely stable on their feet. They would stumble around, but they were rather persistent as they would get back up to continue for several steps before tripping again.
If the kittens were to see someone walk past them, they’d start following whomever it was from behind as well.
As such, after adopting the cats, Han Muzi felt that… she had to be extra careful whenever she was walking at home because the kittens were extremely small. She was worried that she might step on them by accident.
“Meow…” Han Muzi was lying on the couch while feeling down. Suddenly, she heard a high-pitched meow right beside her leg. She turned around and saw a kitten had gotten out of its cattery. It was now beside her leg and stared curiously at her with two beady, black eyes.
Han Muzi met its gaze for several moments before suddenly bending down to pick the kitten up.
She caressed the kitten’s head gently with three fingers while speaking to it, “What do you think… he is doing now?”
“Why… don’t I visit him at the hospital? I wonder how his wounds are.”
“Mommy, what happened to whose wounds?” Little Bean asked casually since he heard the last part of her sentence when he was running down the stairs.
Han Muzi snapped back to her senses with a start, and she looked slightly stricken.
“Nothing, you must have heard wrongly.”
Little Bean stared at her with wide eyes. “Really? But I heard…”
“Previously, the mother cat had some injuries on its leg. And so I was just asking the kitten. Otherwise, why would you think I’d be hugging the kitten while asking that?” Han Muzi explained with a smile.
Although she didn’t like lying to Little Bean, she couldn’t very well tell him that she was talking about Ye Moxuan, could she? Otherwise, it would open up the topic of him asking for a father again.
At the thought of Little Bean’s father, Han Muzi realized that she was taking this issue rather seriously.
I can’t be living alone for the rest of my life. Even if I could endure loneliness forever, Little Bean is a child. He needs a healthy and complete family to grow together with other children.
Han Muzi gradually concluded after processing her thoughts.
Little Bean accompanied her on the couch for a while. After the kitten stayed in her arms for some time, Han Muzi placed it back on the floor. Then, Little Bean left to play with the kitten as well.
Once they were gone, Han Muzi realized with a start that she was covered in a cold sweat. I can’t believe I’ve said such a thing!
She clenched her fists instinctively, and she squeezed so tightly that her fingernails dug into her skin. She loosened her fists at the sharp pain.
If I’m worried, why don’t I go to the hospital to have a look? Maybe I should buy some fruits for him? It’s still early anyway… so I’d just drop by. In fact, I’ll come home after a quick visit.
Han Muzi started moving once she had that thought.
She took her coat and handbag before leaving the house and making her way out.
She chose some fruits in a nearby store, then left the shop with a bag of fruits and took a cab to the hospital.
Initially, everything was going smoothly, but when she arrived at the hospital entrance, Han Muzi had the urge to retreat. I already decided to sever ties with him. So what am I doing now? Why am I here to see him?
Would he have the wrong impression—that I am just playing hard-to-get? Forget it, I can’t care so much. I’m here, after all. I just have to go in and have a look. I’ll decide in due course.
Han Muzi then walked toward the familiar-looking hospital room with a bag of fruits.
She inhaled deeply while standing at the entrance of the ward. Then, she pushed the door open and entered the room.
Han Muzi was stumped when she opened the door, and she stood rooted to the spot while staring into the room. The hospital room was empty, and even the bedsheets were stripped off and replaced with new ones. Everything was folded neatly, and there was no one in sight.
Suddenly, Han Muzi thought she might have entered the wrong room. Hence, she retreated from the room to check, but it was the right one indeed.
Coincidentally, a nurse walked by, and Han Muzi stopped her. “Excuse me, sorry to bother you. May I know where the man who stays in this room is?”
“Eh, weren’t you the one who has always been around to look after him? Didn’t you know that he was discharged?”
“D-Discharged?” Han Muzi sounded shocked. Has he been discharged so quickly?
“That’s right. He was discharged today. We just finished tidying up the room.”
“I see. Thank you.” Han Muzi stood silently in a daze after the nurse left.
After several moments, she looked down at the bag of fruits and smiled in resignation.

Han Muzi brought a bag of fruits home, and just after she entered her house and was changing shoes at the entryway, she bumped into Yan by chance.
“Where did you go in the middle of the night?”
Han Muzi’s lips parted, and she shook the bag nonchalantly. “I went downstairs to buy some fruits.”
Yan turned around to check the time upon hearing that. “Unless I’m mistaken, I recall that you left about 50 minutes ago. You went somewhere else along the way after you bought those fruits downstairs, I suppose.”
Yan was flashing her a teasing look, and she was clearly insinuating something as well.
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by her response.
Isn’t she just taking the chance to mock me? Han Muzi brought the bag of fruits into the kitchen while answering her, “That’s right. I hung around downstairs for a bit since I was feeling too full from dinner. I might have stayed slightly longer, but at least it was better than the one who hid upstairs, don’t you agree?”
Yan’s suggestive smile stiffened across her face when she heard that.
“Don’t you agree?” Han Muzi blinked innocently while flashing Yan a sweet smile.
Yan’s smile vanished, and she pouted instead. “Will it kill you to stop bullying me for a second? Why are you bringing up ancient history?”
“Tell that to yourself.”
After that, Yan sat on the couch with an unhappy frown while hugging a pillow.
“I had my reasons for not having the courage to come downstairs. My crush is so outstanding. What’s wrong with me being afraid to approach him?”
Han Muzi walked toward Yan and sat down beside her. “That’s right. This is what you think.”
She wrapped a pillow in her arms as well. Recalling the conversation she had with the nurse still vexed Han Muzi.
“Eh, weren’t you always dropping by to look after him? Didn’t you know that he was discharged?”
Previously, I did drop by to look after him frequently, but… toward the end, I rarely dropped by, so it’s understandable that I was not aware of that.
“Did you visit him again at the hospital?” Yan’s voice rang suddenly from her left. Han Muzi nodded instinctively, but she shook her head right after. “He has been discharged.”
“Discharged? Hmm…” Yan was confused. “In that case, why did you go all the way to the hospital to see him? Were you not in your right mind?”
“I only realized that when I got there.”
Yan answered swiftly, “Alright, it looks like you’ve been kept in the dark. That person is so bad. You looked after him for such a long time; is it too much to ask for him to update you after he has been discharged?”
Han Muzi remained silent.
Seeing as she didn’t comment, Yan couldn’t help but ask, “He at least texted you on WeChat, right?”
After a long silence, Han Muzi finally looked up Yan. Then, she replied to her with a faint smile, “I didn’t visit him at the hospital the entire week. Isn’t it normal for him not to inform me after he has been discharged? Alright. It’s getting late. Let’s sleep early.” Han Muzi stood up and was ready to head upstairs. It was obvious she didn’t want to continue this topic.
Yan felt frustrated while staring at Han Muzi’s back, and so she mumbled to herself softly, “How is that normal? If he cared about you, he wouldn’t have said nothing, right? Didn’t you go all the way there for nothing, then?”
She might have muttered that under her breath, but the house was silent, and so Han Muzi heard what Yan said clearly.
She paused involuntarily, but then she continued walking with a ghost of a smile on her lips.
Maybe he doesn’t really care that much.
…
The days went by as usual. Two to three days passed, and it was as if Ye Moxuan had truly vanished from her life.
The only thing left was his name on Han Muzi’s company’s client list.
Since he had not put forward a request, and he had specifically asked for Han Muzi, she couldn’t proceed with the order.
Han Muzi thought to herself, He is a client after all. I should take the initiative and contact this client.
However, recalling the recent events, Han Muzi had a feeling… Maybe Ye Moxuan is sick of me now. Previously, he made an order with our company due to our history. But I suppose things are different now.
Why don’t I… hand this order to someone else?
Upon deciding, Han Muzi recalled Leng Yueyue’s ruined piece for Lin Xinghuo’s order. I’ve been planning to make up to Leng Yueyue. Why not present this chance to her?
When Leng Yueyue received the news, she thought she had lucked out.
She even thought she might faint from the excitement.
After staring at Han Muzi in a daze for a very long time, she finally held onto her sleeve while asking meekly, “Are you… seriously giving this chance to me?”
Han Muzi nodded. “Mm-hmm. However, it’s up to you whether you can succeed in securing this. Are you willing to try?”
“To be honest, I’m very glad that you are willing to give me this chance. However… I know about the history between you and Young Master Ye. I don’t think it’s right for you to hand me the project. Even if I was willing to handle it, he might not be willing to let me handle it. Hence, Muzi, I think it’s best that you handle this project.”
Han Muzi was stumped at her response. Previously, I brought Leng Yueyue to the press conference, so she saw what happened at the press conference. It must be difficult for her to accept this project now.
“I…”
“If you have no other choice, I am more than willing to take over the project. But… I can’t promise that I’d be able to handle it. Previously, I was very touched that you handed Lin Xinghuo’s project to me, and you even brought me along to the press conference. That is why… this is my way of thanking you!”
Han Muzi’s lips parted. “You don’t have to look at it this way. If this project goes smoothly, you’d receive a substantial bonus as well.”
“Mm-hmm, alright. I need that bonus too. Well, then let me do it. However… if I can’t handle it when the time comes, I’ll return the project to you.”
Han Muzi saw a completely different side of Leng Yueyue with this exchange.
She gazed at Leng Yueyue with a smile and couldn’t help but comment, “I am seeing a new side of you.”
Leng Yueyue was fine before Han Muzi praised her, but with that compliment, her face immediately scrunched up awkwardly.
“What are you talking about? What do you mean, a different side of me? Also, I didn’t accept this just so it’ll be easier on you, alright? I’m doing this for the cash bonus; I’m doing it for myself. You can’t be so vain to think that I’m doing it for your sake, can you?”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded before answering her, “I didn’t say anything.”
“You must think that I’m doing it for your sake. Hmph! I’m telling you that I’m not!” Leng Yueyue snapped at her, and with that, she turned around and left the room.
Han Muzi and Yan were left alone, exchanging glances.
After a few seconds, the two of them burst out laughing.
“Was Leng Yueyue trying to tickle my funny bone? She was so serious a second ago, but she became so uncomfortable the next second. Why do I get the feeling that she becomes really awkward each time you praise her?” Yan made a mocking remark with a laugh while having her arms folded in front of her chest.
Han Muzi was smiling faintly as well, and she nodded in agreement. “I think that’s true. However… that’s rather cute of her, don’t you agree?” she asked with a chuckle.
“Hmph! I’m on par with her if we are discussing cuteness! Muzi, you are not allowed to fall for someone else because I am your best friend!”
“Best friend?” Han Muzi cocked a brow at her. “I thought a certain someone was making progress to be my sister-in-law. Are you satisfied to be my best friend for the rest of your life?”
“Damn it! You shouldn’t rub salt onto my wound! I’m ignoring you now!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 526
After Han Muzi handed the project information to Yan for Leng Yueyue to take over, she felt relieved of the burden.
It would be Sunday tomorrow, and so Han Muzi planned to take Little Bean to the amusement park the next day.
Ever since they returned to China, she had been so busy that she hadn’t had time to take Little Bean out.
The original plan only included the two of them, but Little Bean was extremely cunning; somehow, he managed to include Yan and Han Qing.
Han Muzi agreed to their participation straight away once she thought of the possibility of progress between Han Qing and Yan.
After all, she couldn’t let Han Qing remain as a bachelor forever.
The next day, they left together.
In the beginning, Yan was embarrassed to come downstairs. However, after some persistent pestering from Little Bean, she finally left together with them with her head bowed. However, Yan had been staying in a corner once she got into the car while avoiding eye contact, with her head bowed down like an ostrich.
Han Muzi had to stop herself from laughing aloud each time she saw Yan trying to melt into the background.
Hence, she whispered to Yan, “If you go on like this, how long will it take for you to finally become my sister-in-law?”
Her voice was so quiet that they were most probably the only ones who heard it.
However, they were all in a car after all, and Yan had the feeling that Han Qing would hear them clearly somehow. Thus, she glared at Han Muzi vehemently while she spat softly, “Shut up!”
Her expression and gaze were extremely fierce, as if she was ready to murder someone.
However, her voice was so quiet that it didn’t carry the desired powerful effect.
Han Muzi burst out laughing before asking, “Don’t you think you should at least be slightly bolder?”
“You should shut up. I don’t want to talk to you.” Yan turned around and covered her ears with her palms. It was apparent she didn’t want to speak to Han Muzi anymore.
Han Muzi stopped teasing her as well; instead, she looked away and settled into a comfortable position.
Upon arriving at the amusement park, Yan dragged Little Bean to have fun since she didn’t have the courage to face Han Qing. Thus, they left Han Qing and Han Muzi behind.
Han Qing pursed his lips when he saw that, and he couldn’t help but stare at the back of the petite girl while she went off.
Han Muzi noticed his gaze and smiled unconsciously. “Qing, how do you find Yan?”
Han Qing frowned when he heard that. He recalled how she looked like when she stole a kiss from him on two different occasions. That day, after his fingertips were smudged with her lip gloss, he forgot to wash it off. When he got back to the company, Su Jiu saw the smudge on his fingertips when he was reaching out for a file. She even teased him that something impossible was finally happening.
At that moment, Han Qing was confused because usually, he would have handled such things well by cleaning it off thoroughly.
However, it felt as if I was bewitched that day. In any case… I truly dislike this feeling.
He pursed his lips. “What is it? You haven’t even sorted your affairs, and here you are, trying to matchmake me with someone else?”
Han Muzi turned to stare at him. “You are already so old. I’m younger than you by so many years. Besides, I already have a child. Do you have one?”
Han Qing was rendered speechless by her response.
I don’t think I have a comeback for that.
Seeing as he was rendered speechless, Han Muzi flashed him a cunning smile. “That is why you are the one who needs to buck up.”
Han Qing suddenly looked solemn. “Have you sorted your issue?”
Han Muzi’s smile faded slightly when she heard that. She shook her head. “No, not yet.”
She almost forgot that she had to divorce Ye Moxuan. Should I take the chance and ask him to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau when he is still disgusted with me?
“Recently, most probably due to his injuries, his side has let their guard down. That is why I managed to find a loophole.”
“Loophole? What do you mean?” Han Muzi didn’t understand him.
Han Qing stared at her steadily while pursing his lips before stating, “The two of you are not husband and wife in the eyes of the law.”
“What?” Han Muzi was astounded. “What do you mean? I thought…”
“I found a loophole. When you married into the Ye family all those years ago, the Shen family and Old Master Ye negotiated a deal. You married into the Ye family as Shen Yue, and so… false information was used in the legal registration.”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words when she heard that.
She felt as if she had just received a huge blow against her head, and she felt slightly lightheaded.
In that case, Ye Moxuan and I were never husband and wife to begin with?
Can a person just do anything they want merely because they have money? Previously, I married into the Ye family on behalf of Shen Yue. So many things have happened since then. But, in the end, everything turned out to be nothing more than a farce.
Han Qing patted her shoulder when he saw how pale she looked.
“Isn’t this even better? You are not associated with him in any way. You are free now. You should consider your future and Little Bean’s.”
“Qing, you mean…”
“I’ve selected several top-notch candidates for you. Why don’t you meet them when you have the time?
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his words.
Her pink lips parted, but nothing came out.
After a long pause, she finally laughed self-deprecatingly. “I was trying to matchmake you over here, but in the end, it turns out that you’ve had it settled for me, huh? However, have you considered my wishes, Qing?”
Han Qing looked far ahead calmly.
“If I hadn’t considered your wishes, do you think you’d have these achievements throughout the past five years? You can’t go on like this. I can tolerate you, but that doesn’t mean I’d have you coddled forever.”
“Would I only find happiness by marrying someone? Can’t I be alone forever?”
“What about Little Bean? Have you thought about him?”
Han Muzi bit her lower lip because she didn’t have a reply to that.
I did think about Little Bean, and that is why I figured it’s time for me to get married. However… my thoughts are completely at odds with what Han Qing is doing.
After learning the truth, he immediately found a list of candidates for me. I find it rather unacceptable.
“There are several candidates for you to select from. It just so happens that you don’t need to work tomorrow, so you can start going on blind dates from tomorrow onward. I will provide you with candidates until you find the right one.”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words.
“What do you think?” Han Qing turned to face her sideways.
“What else can I think?” Han Muzi laughed bitterly. “You’ve already decided everything. What else can I say?”
“Muzi, I will never harm you. You will understand better in the future. You are still young now, and that is why you don’t feel the strain of raising a child as a single parent. However, you will feel the challenge in the future.”
“Enough. I’ve already agreed. In that case, Qing, shouldn’t you promise me to consider Yan as well?”
The topic came back to him again. Han Qing scowled slightly, and he felt a throbbing pain developing between his temples. He massaged his temples while clearing his throat. “You don’t have to worry about me.”
“Why shouldn’t I be allowed to worry about you since you are allowed to be concerned about me? Did you hear what I said just now? Can’t you consider others, even if it isn’t Yan? Why don’t I… provide you with several candidates for your blind date as well? The fashion designers in our company are quite beautiful, and I’m sure they’d be more than happy to go on a blind date with the President of North City’s Han Group. Or… I could make an announcement at a marriage website on your behalf.”
Her suggestion worsened Han Qing’s headache, and so he gazed at his younger sister helplessly. Then, he chuckled at her lovingly. “You are already a mother. Why are you still so childish?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 527
You are already a mother. Han Muzi’s smile faded when she heard that, and she did not reply to Han Qing.
After playing in the amusement park for the entire day, both Yan and Little Bean were so exhausted that they fell asleep while leaning against each other once they got into the car. After all, the two of them were the ones enjoying most of the rides and facilities, whereas Han Qing and Han Muzi observed them from the sidelines.
“Shall we have a meal together?” Han Qing glanced to the back passenger seat while fastening his seatbelt.
Han Muzi turned toward the back for a glance before shaking her head. “Let’s go home. They are exhausted. I should get them home for a good rest. I’ll prepare a simple meal for dinner later.”
“Mm-hmm.” Han Qing nodded in agreement since he shared the same thought.
She had to buy some ingredients since she wanted to prepare dinner. However, Han Muzi was worried that there was no one at home. Hence, she requested Han Qing to stay at home to look over Little Bean and Yan before going off alone to the nearest supermarket.
She didn’t browse through the entire supermarket since she was alone; instead, she selected what she needed very quickly. When she was pushing her cart to pay her bill at the counter, she bumped into a familiar figure when she was making a turn at a corner.
His white collar had been meticulously pressed as there wasn’t a trace of wrinkle. His dark blue suit accentuated his aura. The man had a gentle expression, and when she met his gaze, the man even smiled politely at her while looking especially elegant.
Han Muzi paused in her steps, but she continued pushing her cart forward casually, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. I wouldn’t have expected to bump into Ye Linhan here.
Ye Linhan didn’t look shocked when she ignored him. It seemed as if he was already prepared for Han Muzi to treat him that way. Hence, he chased after her swiftly.
“Did you lose the phone number I gave you?” he asked while walking beside her.
Han Muzi pursed her ruby-red lips while maintaining a cold and detached expression. However, she did not answer him.
Ye Linhan chuckled, as if unperturbed, before explaining, “I’ve waited several days, but you didn’t contact me, so I had no choice but to wait for you in the supermarket.”
Han Muzi halted in her steps when she heard that, but she continued moving forward, determined to ignore him.
“Are you really not going to speak to me, not even for old time’s sake? A simple greeting would be nice.”
Still, she remained silent.
Ye Linhan followed her until she arrived at the cashier. Without waiting for Han Muzi, he reached out straight away and started picking things out from her cart to place them on the cashier counter for the cashier to scan the items.
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his actions.
The combination of a good-looking man and woman would always be especially eye-catching. Furthermore, Han Muzi and Ye Linhan were exceptionally pretty and handsome respectively. Besides, his actions were especially caring and considerate; even the cashier looked utterly jealous. She couldn’t help but comment, “Miss, your boyfriend is so handsome.”
Ye Linhan’s actions paused, and he glanced at Han Muzi.
She had a blank expression, but she finally spoke after such a long silence, “He is not my boyfriend. I don’t even know him.”
The smile vanished from the cashier’s face. She forced an embarrassed smile while stealing a glance at Ye Linhan’s hands. If she didn’t know him, why would this man help her carry these things? Could he just be… kind-hearted? Or did they just meet in the supermarket just now? Is he trying to flirt with her since she looks so pretty?
The cashier conjured different circumstances in her head before she started scanning the items. This time, Han Muzi did not give Ye Linhan the chance as she handed over her bankcard swiftly. A password was required if one were to swipe a card.
When the cashier handed the machine over to her, Han Muzi turned around as she wanted to remind Ye Linhan that it was his cue to leave. However, he had already turned around and was no longer looking at her.
Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She keyed in her passcode swiftly before taking her card out. Then, she picked up her grocery bags and left straight away.
After she left the supermarket, Han Muzi was planning to return home. However, under the street lamps, she realized that there was another shadow following her from behind. She was frustrated and helpless at the same time. She didn’t want him to follow her, nor did she want to acknowledge him. In fact, she didn’t want to speak to him.
After walking for a short while, Han Muzi stopped dead in her tracks out of anger. However, Ye Linhan came forward immediately to take her bags.
“Is it too heavy? Come, let me help you with those.”
Han Muzi was appalled by his actions. Am I hallucinating? Why are the personalities of these two brothers completely different from five years ago? Naturally, Ye Moxuan has undergone the biggest change. Can five years truly change a person? No, not completely.
After all, I’ve seen how Ye Moxuan treats other people. He is still the same when faced with my company’s staff or Lin Qingqing. He wouldn’t even bother making eye contact. But toward me… What on earth happened within these five years?
She looked at the bags being taken over by Ye Linhan. Just when she was about to reject him, he broke the silence suddenly. “You are heading toward the residential community right in front, aren’t you? I saw you walking out from that area just now. Let’s go. I’ll walk you to the entrance.”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded by his statement.
After that, Ye Linhan led the way. The street lamps cast an even more elongated version of his already long and slender shadow.
Han Muzi eventually went forward after weighing her options.
Ye Linhan finally stopped when he arrived at the entrance of the residential community. “I’m leaving you here. Go on in. Be careful; it’s night time now.’
Han Muzi took her bags and turned into the residential community without a second thought. After several steps forward, she could still sense Ye Linhan’s gaze behind her back. Thus, she paused before turning around to check.
Ye Linhan still had his easy and elegant smile etched across his face, just like all those years ago…
Should I acknowledge him? Han Muzi looked conflicted, and she bit her lower lip while struggling with her mixed feelings.
Ye Linhan was especially considerate. He was slightly bewildered when he noticed Han Muzi’s gaze. After a while, he reassured her with a smile, “Don’t overthink. I have no ill intentions. I’m just meeting an old friend. Go in, now.”
Is he really just meeting an old friend? For some reason, Han Muzi felt that things weren’t as simple as it seemed.
His appearance makes it feel as if the gears of fate have started to rotate. Many things… no longer seem as simple as how they once were.
In the end, Han Muzi remained tight-lipped. She turned around and vanished from Ye Linhan’s sight.
On the other hand, Ye Linhan did not look away until the figure in front of him was completely gone. At the same time, the smile he had across his face faded gradually as well. He took his phone out and opened the photograph of the child which was sent over by his assistant.
The child looked almost identical to Ye Moxuan’s facial features, but he also had a trace of Han Muzi’s coldness in his eyes. Hence, the child’s facial looked especially intricate. One could memorize the child’s face with just a glance.
His assistant spent long hours poring over all the available information, but he only found a single, grainy portrait. It seems like Han Muzi has protected her child very well. I believe I will know the reason she has been trying to protect him so well very soon. Ye Linhan pocketed his phone, and a trace of malicious gleam flashed across his gentle gaze.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 528
The arranged date venue was at a place unfamiliar to Han Muzi.
Hence, Han Qing instructed Mr. Nan to drive her there. Upon arriving at their destination, Mr. Nan informed her, “Miss Muzi, I am driving back to the company to pick President Han up. I’ll come back later to pick you up.”
Han Muzi shook her head when she considered the trouble he had to go through for picking her up and driving in circles. “That’s unnecessary, Mr. Nan. You should go back first. I’m not even sure what time the blind date will end. I’ll take a cab later.”
In reality, she had a completely different thought. Mr. Nan might take a very long time before arriving here after picking Han Qing up.
She had a feeling that she might not spend too much time on this arranged date.
“Alright, Miss Muzi. Please be careful. Phone me if you need anything.”
“Drive safe, Mr. Nan.”
Once Mr. Nan drove away, Han Muzi turned around and entered the café in front of her.
This café seemed quite popular. Han Muzi scanned the room quickly, and she was sure that her date had yet to arrive because everyone was there in groups. In fact, no one was there alone.
She picked a table beside the window before settling down. Soon, a server approached to take her order.
“I’m waiting for someone. We will order together later.”
“Sure, miss.”
Han Muzi raised her hand and checked the time. The scheduled time is 2PM, and it will be 2PM in another two minutes.
I hope he is punctual.
Han Muzi took her phone out and refreshed her WeChat Moments.
Yesterday, at the amusement park, Yan and Little Bean had the time of their lives and took many pictures. However, Yan didn’t upload them into WeChat Moments. Instead, she sent all the pictures to Han Muzi.
The two of them had an agreement where they wouldn’t post Little Bean’s photos on any social media platforms.
She swiped through the photo one after another, and Han Muzi smiled subconsciously while gazing fondly at the pictures.
The afternoon warm sun shone bright on the main road, whereas the sun rays shone through the windows of the shop, casting a warm glow around Han Muzi. She lowered her head with a warm and tender smile, making the scene appear exceptionally peaceful.
Qin Yan saw her in that position when he entered the café, which made him stop dead in his tracks. He looked slightly startled, and his gaze was glued to her
He scanned the shop quickly, and he soon noticed that she was the only single person in the café. Is she my blind date today?
After looking through the photos, Han Muzi realized with a start that there was a shadow right beside her, and it cast a shadow around her.
“How are you? My name is Qin Yan.”
Han Muzi looked up and met the person’s gaze.
However, the two of them were stunned to silence when their eyes met.
“A-Aren’t you…?” Qin Yan stared at her in shock. Han Muzi stood up while staring at him, and she was rather shocked as well.
If I remember correctly, this man is the car owner whose car I accidentally rear-ended previously. During that time… the woman he had with him even humiliated me.
She was unreasonable and unforgiving. It would have been fine if she didn’t want to lodge a police report, but she wouldn’t agree to settle matters in private either. It meant that they refused to solve the issue with me. In the end, Ye Moxuan showed up and had it sorted out for me.
Qin Yan must have not expected me to be his blind date too.
After the two of them looked at each other for a while, Qin Yan cleared his throat awkwardly. “I assume you still remember me. I’m the car owner… whose car you rear-ended previously.”
Han Muzi nodded, but she had a blank expression.
“Have a seat.” Qin Yan signaled her to sit. Then, he raised his arm for the server.
Han Muzi glanced at her watch from the corner of her eyes discreetly. He’s 10 minutes late. Isn’t he going to apologize to me at all?
After ordering, Qin Yan still looked embarrassed when he regarded her. “Previously, I already had a feeling that it was fate that your car ran into mine. However, I never would have expected us to meet again so soon, and under such circumstances, no less.”
Han Muzi looked up. “Neither did I.”
“Ah-hem…” He was most probably feeling uncomfortable after the previous incident because he had a woman with him last time, after all. Hence, it was rather awkward for him to be on a blind date with Han Muzi now.
He did not say anything, and so Han Muzi didn’t bring up any new topics as well. The warm and tender smile she had earlier when she was looking at her phone was now gone. It was now replaced with a cold and detached expression. It was obvious she was uninterested in this blind date.
Han Muzi thought to herself, I would have considered it if the man was not bad.
However… I know this man. Besides, I recall he had a girlfriend the last time I met him. I will never forget how arrogant that woman was too.
It seems like I’ve done the right thing by asking Mr. Nan not to pick me up.
However, Qin Yan was checking her out, and he asked tentatively, “Miss Han… have you just recently returned from abroad?
Pretty. The woman before me is really pretty.
Furthermore, her beauty is not the girl-next-door type, and nor does she have the delicate, refined vibe. On the contrary, she seems cold and distant while seemingly alluring as well. She has a rare sort of beauty which is hard to come by.
The coldness reflected in her eyes was even more pronounced when she looked up.
Qin Yan gulped reflexively.
Men liked a variety of women, but there were only a few distinguished types of beautiful women.
Han Muzi was undeniably a minority. In fact, after their last encounter, Qin Yan hadn’t stopped thinking about her.
“Mm-hmm.” Han Muzi nodded. “I have just recently returned from abroad.”
“No wonder you possess a different temperament and elegance, Miss Han. I hope our arranged date will go smoothly today.”
Han Muzi flashed a quick smile when she heard that, but she remained silent.
She did not point out that he was late by 10 minutes because she had no intentions of getting to know this man better.
After their coffees were served, Qin Yan most probably felt that the warm-up time was sufficient because he started bombarding her with questions.
“Miss Han, what are your hobbies and favorite pastimes?”
Han Muzi gave a random answer, and Qin Yan immediately revealed that he liked the same thing. In fact, he even suggested that they do that together soon. Han Muzi did not respond to that, and so Qin Yan immediately asked her another question. However, her answers were casual and distracted at best.
After chatting for several moments, Qin Yan felt acutely that she had no interest in this arranged date. Hence, he felt rather defeated while gazing reluctantly at the pretty woman in front of him.
“Miss Han, are you so cold toward me due to what happened the other day?”
Han Muzi snapped back to her senses when she heard that. “What happened the other day?”
Qin Yan spoke hesitantly, “Well, the other day, when you rear-ended my car, there was a girl with me. Are you… bothered by her?”
Han Muzi responded with a polite smile. “Mr. Qin, you must be joking. Why would I be bothered?”
The more polite she was, the more annoyed Qin Yan felt. Since she claims that she’s not bothered, it would mean that she doesn’t care about today’s arranged date.
However, Qin Yan wanted to explain himself.
“I have to explain myself even if you are not bothered. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve misunderstood, but girl the other day is my younger sister.”
“Hahaha…”
There was a rumble of chuckle nearby after Qin Yan’s explanation.
The voice was husky, and it sounded mocking as well. It made those who heard it inexplicably uncomfortable.
Qin Yan scowled automatically when he heard that. Who is that?
Why is that person laughing right now?
On the other hand, Han Muzi’s expression changed drastically when she heard that laughter.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 529
Why is he here? Han Muzi’s expression darkened. In fact, Qin Yan’s expression soured as well after he realized who it was.
Ye Moxuan? Why is he here?
Ye Moxuan showed up to resolve the issue of Qin Yan’s car being rear-ended by Han Muzi that day. Although Qin Yan found Han Muzi to be extremely attractive, he did not dare to act rashly because he was facing such a cold and scary person like Ye Moxuan. He wasn’t sure if she was Ye Moxuan’s woman.
However, since she’s here for our blind date, it’s obvious… that she is not attached.
Nevertheless, Ye Moxuan showed up.
Before the two of them could respond, a tall figure stood up from the adjacent table. His legs looked especially straight and strong while he made his way steadily toward them. Soon… he was sitting beside Han Muzi.
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by the sudden turn of events.
Has Ye Moxuan been sitting right behind me all along? Why hadn’t I noticed him earlier? Was I too focused staring at the photos?
That’s the most plausible explanation, come to think of it.
The temperature of the surrounding atmosphere dropped the instant Ye Moxuan took his seat.
He emitted a very strong and cold aura, as if daring anyone to offend him. The detachment and eeriness reflected in his eyes easily kept people far away from him.
However, his self-contained aura enveloped Han Muzi as well.
The combination of a good-looking man and woman would always appear striking, not to mention someone as handsome as Ye Moxuan.
Suddenly, Qin Yan felt out of place among the three of them.
However… she’s here for the arranged date. It means…
Qin Yan tightened his fists under the table, and he had a disgruntled glint in his eyes when he glanced at Han Muzi’s beautiful face.
I don’t want to lose this chance.
Upon that thought, Qin Yan looked at Ye Moxuan while greeting him, “What a coincidence, President Ye.”
“Coincidence?” Ye Moxuan squinted menacingly while giving him a once-over. He flashed Qin Yan a malicious grin. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence, because I came here on purpose.”
Both Qin Yan and Han Muzi were at a loss for words at Ye Moxuan’s reply.
How did he know that I’d be here on a blind date?
Besides, hasn’t he disappeared recently? Why did he appear out of the blue now?
And he’s trying to disrupt my blind date the moment he showed up? I might not be pleased with today’s arranged date, but it’s not Ye Moxuan’s place to intervene.
“President Ye, you mean—“
“Are you two on a blind date?” Ye Moxuan asked suddenly.
Qin Yan was stunned to silence for a while, but he nodded. “Isn’t it obvious?”
Ye Moxuan leaned toward Han Muzi suddenly. In fact, he was so close to her that she could feel his hot breath against her skin. She felt suffocated, and before she could frown at him, someone asked her in a seductive voice, “Yesterday in bed… you said you had a matter to attend to today. Was this the issue you were referring to?”
Upon hearing that, the expressions across both Qin Yan and Han Muzi’s faces changed drastically.
Han Muzi turned around and stared wide-eyed in disbelief at Ye Moxuan, who was barely inches away from her.
What nonsense is this bastard spouting?
“Miss Han, you…” Qin Yan gazed at Han Muzi while feeling his breath caught in his chest.
Han Muzi lowered her eyes. I refuse to give in to Ye Moxuan’s efforts in causing disruption.
Upon deciding that, Han Muzi did a quick hundred and eighty degree change from her previous cold and flippant attitude. Instead, she looked up at Qin Yan and denied it with a smile. “We’re not.”
They were such simple words, but it gave Qin Yan infinite strength.
As long as she denies it, it means that Ye Moxuan’s feelings for Han Muzi is unrequited, which also means that I stand a chance.
Qin Yan suddenly felt excited, and he cleared his throat. “Well, that’s great. President Ye… it’s not a good virtue to break up a pair of lovebirds. I hope that you would refrain from doing that and have mercy, President Ye.”
Han Muzi stood up abruptly. “Mr. Qin, do you mind if we switch venues to continue our conversation?”
Seeing as she stood up, Qin Yan followed suit hastily while nodding earnestly. “Of course I wouldn’t mind, Miss Han. I’m more than happy to go along with your decision.”
“Alright.” Han Muzi smiled faintly, and she was about to turn around to leave when she felt something clasp around her wrist. She turned around and saw Ye Moxuan grabbing her hand with a dark and thunderous expression.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he asked warningly, and his voice sounded eerie.
Qin Yan glanced at Han Muzi in a panic when he saw that.
Han Muzi remained silent for a while, but soon, she reached out and pushed Ye Moxuan’s hand away slowly. Her gaze was calm and detached. “That’s none of your business.”
With that, she turned around and headed out with Qin Yan.
Once they got out of the café, Qin Yan took his car key out. “Miss Han, please wait right here for me. I’ll get my car.”
“Sure.” Han Muzi nodded. “Thank you.”
She smiled at him, and Qin Yan felt as if his heart might melt into mush. Although her smile did not reach her eyes, it was undoubtedly breathtaking.
Qin Yan went off to get his car, whereas Han Muzi made her way to the roadside to wait for him.
A silver Bentley stopped in front of her, and the car window wound down, revealing Ye Moxuan’s determined side profile. “Get in,” he demanded coldly.
Han Muzi ignored him and looked away, as if he was invisible.
Ye Moxuan suppressed the anger boiling in his chest, but his eyes were already dark with fury. He tightened his grip around the steering wheel and growled, “Muzi, I’m giving you the last chance to get into the car by yourself.”
However, not only did Han Muzi ignore him, she even walked away.
Coincidentally, Han Muzi saw Qin Yan driving his car over, and so she walked straight toward his car.
Soon, his car stopped in front of her, and he got out of the car to open the door for her like a gentleman. “Miss Han, after you.”
“Thank you.” Han Muzi bent forward, and just when she was about to get in, she felt something around her waist.
The next thing she knew, she was lifted up into the air.
“Ah!” Han Muzi cried out in surprise while she struggled viciously.
“President Ye, what are you doing?” Qin Yan questioned Ye Moxuan with a cold voice, and he looked at Han Muzi, who was draped over Ye Moxuan’s shoulder, with a steely stare.
“Ha!” Ye Moxuan chuckled mirthlessly while he stared at Qin Yan frostily. “What is it now? Are you trying to snatch her away from me, Young Master Qin? Have you not learned your lesson the last time?”
Qin Yan pursed his lips. “She is unwilling to leave with you.”
“If you are bold enough, Young Master Qin, feel free to snatch her away from me.” With that, Ye Moxuan carried Han Muzi away without a backward glance.
“Ye Moxuan, let go of me! I said let go of me!” Han Muzi had her stomach pressed hard on Ye Moxuan’s shoulder. Hence, she was in pain since his large and prominent shoulder blade was poking at her.
Besides, she felt dizzy being hung in that position, and it made her feel ill.
She felt as if she might throw up the coffee she had earlier.
Nevertheless, Han Muzi still heard Ye Moxuan’s threats against Qin Yan. When Ye Moxuan turned around, it so happened that Han Muzi could see Qin Yan, who stood rooted to the spot. He had an especially conflicted expression, but he didn’t chase after them in the end.
Finally, Ye Moxuan tossed Han Muzi into his car. The sudden change in momentum made her light-headed.
Bang!
The car was locked, and Ye Moxuan’s large and burly body pinned against her. He held the back of her head before kissing her hard.
“Mmph.” He sealed Han Muzi’s lips with his, making her even dizzier than before.
Her actions must have angered him today because Ye Moxuan was especially rough. He bit her lower lip so hard that he drew blood.
The scent of blood was mingled in their kiss, and Han Muzi frowned deeply in response.
After a while, he pulled away before asking coldly, “Were you planning on getting into his car? Over my dead body!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 530
The door of the car was locked by Ye Moxuan. Han Muzi had nowhere to go.
Probably because of his furious anger, Ye Moxuan’s eyes were filled with a burning fire that almost scorched the eyes of Han Muzi.
As such, she twitched her lips without saying a word. This was the first time she saw Ye Moxuan like this. Since the time they met, he had always been in a scoundrelly state and constantly clung to her. She didn’t know what happened to his mind in the past five years that made him feel he couldn’t live without her, but now, by the looks of it, he was back to his original self.
“At first, I wanted to give you more time.” Ye Moxuan squinted his eyes while staring at her with dangerous intent. “As long as we haven’t divorced, there will be a chance for you to come back to me. But by the looks of it now… you are very disobedient.”
His words sent shivers down her spine as her pupils shrank. “W-What do you want to do to me?”
“Do to you?” Ye Moxuan let out a chilling laugh while reaching out to hold her chin. “You cold-hearted woman. Would you even care what I plan to do to you?”
Han Muzi bit on her lower lip as she stubbornly looked at him.
Her eyes caused Ye Moxuan to be startled for a second. It has been so long…
It had been forever since he saw her eyes the way they were now. Five years ago, she was always like this. But after five years… her eyes were cold and indifferent most of the time as if nobody could cause a stir in her heart. That was why Ye Moxuan changed his tactic and became clingy, as he thought that would work. But now? She wants to date another man, and wants to change places with me? Where does she want to change to?
Ye Moxuan grew angrier the more he thought about it. His face grew scarier as his aura pressed on Han Muzi’s head like dark clouds.
At this moment, the door was locked, and Ye Moxuan held her tightly on both sides while staring at her from above. His eyes looked like they were ready to eat flesh.
“I don’t care what you want to do, but if it involves me, then naturally I need to ask. If you let me out of the car, I won’t bother with whatever you want to do—mmph!” The moment she finished her words, Ye Moxuan exerted more force on her chin and kissed her.
Han Muzi widened her eyes as she was forced to receive his kiss. She reached out to push his chest, but he was getting stronger every second. Just when Han Muzi felt like she couldn’t take it anymore, a knocking sound suddenly came from the car window.
However, the kiss still went on.
Knock! Knock! The man outside the car was still knocking on the window, and Han Muzi could vaguely hear someone shouting, “You can’t park your car here!”
The knocking sound didn’t stop, and eventually, Ye Moxuan became frustrated. He violently let go of Han Muzi and lowered the car window.
“Y-You… can’t park…” The traffic police initially wanted to tell Ye Moxuan not to park his car here and ask him to move the car away, but after meeting with the latter’s terrifying gaze, he instantly felt coldness envelop him. He shuddered, and the words that were already at his lips went straight back down his throat.
“Are you looking for trouble?” Ye Moxuan glared at him and sneered.
The traffic police shook his head. “No.” But a while later, he came around and felt righteous. How can I be scared of this man? Thus, he straightened himself up and coughed softly. “Mister, private cars are restricted from parking here. If you don’t move your car away now, I will be forced to give you a ticket.” Today was his first day at work, so he wanted to do his job well.
Despite the warning, Ye Moxuan stared at him chillingly with his pitch-black eyes.
His sharp eyes sent goosebumps down the traffic police’s body like electricity and after straightening his waist for a long time, the latter’s neck shrank. “Please do me a favor. You really can’t park your car here. If you move your car away now, I will not give you a ticket.”
At the same time, Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief as she felt that the traffic police had solved her problem. If not for him, she would still be locked on to Ye Moxuan.
As Han Muzi saw them in a standstill, she sneakily reached out to unlock the door. But just when she was about to open the door and make a run, Ye Moxuan’s hands clawed over and grabbed hold of her waist. “Where are you going?”
Han Muzi’s face changed. This man…
“Let me go.”
Ye Moxuan locked the door one more time. “Since you want to run, then I won’t let you get away.” As he finished his words, he immediately raised the car window and left the place.
The traffic police stood still, in awe of what just happened, before coming back to his senses. W-What just happened? Was that a kidnapping? Or else, why would he say that he won’t let her get away? Then again, they looked more like a couple quarreling.
After driving the car far away, Han Muzi finally came around. “Where are you bringing me to?” Ye Moxuan held on to his indifferent face and ignored her. The car was flying at a high speed, and Han Muzi felt a bit scared, so she asked him again, “Ye Moxuan, what do you want?”
“Heh,” he jeered. “It’s not anything I want to do, but you have been a bad, bad girl. Not only did you give my order away to your subordinate, but you also went on a date without telling me.”
Han Muzi ground her teeth. “I didn’t have the spare time to handle your order, so I handed it over to my staff.”
“What about the date?”
Han Muzi calmed herself down and took a deep breath. “It’s because I want to get married.”
“Married? Am I dead to you?” Ye Moxuan’s tone was very bad.
“No.” Han Muzi denied. When she thought about what Han Qing told her, she lifted her eyes to look at Ye Moxuan. “You’re not dead to me. However, do you dare show me the marriage certificate?”
Ye Moxuan immediately stopped the car and turned his head to stare at her with dangerous intent. His eyes were like those of a beast hidden in the dark.
At this moment, Han Muzi felt a sense of boldness as she looked straight into his eyes. “Do you dare?”
Ye Moxuan was speechless while his face darkened.
“Heh.” Seeing him like this, Han Muzi couldn’t help but smile. “You don’t dare to, right? Because that isn’t even our marriage certificate.” Ye Moxuan’s breathing accelerated while he frowned. “Back then, I didn’t marry into the Ye Family with my real name. That marriage certificate isn’t even ours. The name written on it is Shen Yue’s, even though the photo is mine. But… if I bring this to court, how likely do you think I would win after the court considers our emotional discord and the fact that we’ve split up for five years?”
After analyzing the whole situation, Han Muzi felt that her mind was in an extremely calm state.
Not only did Ye Moxuan not expect her to be this calm, but he was also surprised to find out that she knew all this. The situation was totally out of his control. At first, he thought that he could trap her by telling her she wasn’t divorced, but… she found a loophole.
Ye Moxuan’s eyes darkened. “Han Qing told you this?”
“It doesn’t matter who told me. That is the truth, right?” Han Muzi asked him again.
