Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 601
Han Muzi was terrified that if she insisted on not eating, Ye Moxuan would keep feeding her that way.
She… refused to be fed that way.
Even though they had kissed many times before, his way of feeding repulsed her.
However, Ye Moxuan had not thought of it that way. His intense stare lingered on her lips, as though he was not done yet.
But… but he had just…!
Feeling irked, she glared at him. Then, she sat up and said, “I can eat on my own. You don’t have to feed me.”
She started to reach for the bowl, but Ye Moxuan snatched it away. He picked up the spoon and scooped out a spoonful of porridge and proceeded to bring it to her lips.
She was speechless. Fine. If he wants to feed me this way, then so be it. At least this is better than using his mouth.
Han Muzi tried to persuade herself before she opened her mouth reluctantly to eat the porridge.
After she had finished the first bowl of porridge, she no longer felt dizzy. However, she was still famished. When the second bowl of porridge arrived, she reached out for it herself.
Ye Moxuan got the message and handed her the bowl without forcing her.
She downed three bowls of porridge in one go before she started to feel somewhat full.
Then, she watched as Ye Moxuan cleaned up and left the room. This man is terrifying…
He had actually caused her to be that way. In all those years, this was the first time that Han Muzi had such a big appetite.
As she touched her bloated belly, a thought suddenly struck her. She quickly threw off her covers and got out of bed. She wanted to take the chance, while he was not around, to look for that bottle of morning-after pills.
Once she stepped out of bed, however, her legs became weak and she nearly fell to her knees. Fortunately, she was able to support herself by holding on to the edge of the bed. Then, she looked up and scanned the room.
She remembered that he had kicked the bottle to the side earlier, so it had to be under one of the cabinets. Nevertheless, it was still inside the house.
Since he was not around, she began to search every corner for any trace of the pill bottle.
To her dismay, Han Muzi failed to find it despite having searched everywhere. She heard footsteps approaching from outside and had no choice but to quickly return to bed and pretend as if she had never left.
Ye Moxuan opened the door and entered with a laptop in his hand. He looked around for a place to sit before he sat down in front of her and propped his laptop open.
???
Is he planning on doing his work here? In my room?
Was he really going to keep watch on her for 24 hours?
Han Muzi felt troubled by this. She brought out her phone from under the pillow and took a look at her WeChat.
If he was going to stay in the room to watch her, then she certainly could not leave. In that case, how was she going to take the pills?
She thought about it for a bit and figured that Yan could send them over to her. But as long as Ye Moxuan was in the room with her, there was no way she could take the pills even if she had them.
Those pills had to be consumed within 72 hours for it to be effective. Some time had already passed since it happened. If she did not take the pills within the given time frame, she feared she would actually conceive his child.
At the thought of that, Han Muzi gripped her phone and tapped on her chat with Yan.
How was she going to have Yan send the pills over without being discovered by Ye Moxuan? That was the difficult part.
Han Muzi let her thoughts wander until her eyes felt like they were about to collapse from exhaustion.
Ye Moxuan had completely wiped her out. Not long after that, she put her phone away and fell right asleep the moment her head landed on the pillow. And soon, the room was filled with the sound of her steady breathing.
Ye Moxuan looked up to see her sound asleep in a curled up position with the blanket tightly wrapped around her. Then, his brows furrowed together.
He tucked the thin blanket over her properly before he grabbed his laptop and headed downstairs.
While in the living room, he wore his Bluetooth earphones and turned on the video.
“How are things moving along?”
Xiao Su appeared on the screen. He then looked at Ye Moxuan with a stern expression on his face.
“Young Master Ye, we have found the culprit.”
As he listened, Ye Moxuan’s eyes narrowed. He had a cold and apathetic look in his gaze that warned of danger. “Is that so?”
His gaze seemed to penetrate through the screen and Xiao Su could not help but shudder slightly before regaining his composure. That deathly gaze was not meant for Xiao Su but for the culprit.
Immediately, Xiao Su let out a small cough and nodded his head. “The people who followed Young Lady Shen were not any random people. They were jobless and had been dragged into this. They only followed Young Lady Shen because they had received an attractive remuneration for it.”
“What was their goal?”
“According to them, they were supposed to follow her to a secluded area before kidnapping her.”
“Kidnap?” Ye Moxuan narrowed his eyes threateningly. “Who gave them the nerve to kidnap my woman?”
“Um…” Xiao Su covered his mouth with his fist and said, “Young Master Ye, this… is someone you know.”
Someone he knew? Ye Moxuan knitted his brows together, clearly displeased.
“It’s Young Lady Shen’s best friend from five years ago, Han Xueyou.”
Han Xueyou?
It had been five years since this name was brought up in Ye Moxuan’s life again.
“But she’s not called Han Xueyou anymore. After she was chased out of the Han Family, she changed her last name back to her own family name—Meng. She’s currently working at a western restaurant.”
Meng Xueyou? Ye Moxuan tapped his fingers lightly on the table. His thoughts led his gaze back up the stairs. When he thought of that ignorant woman, his cold eyes turned sharp.
“Young Master Ye, she and Young Lady Shen used to be best friends. Should I… tell Young Lady Shen about this?”
“Don’t say anything to her.” Ye Moxuan pursed his lips as he declined Xiao Su’s suggestion. He added, “By the way, if she plans on doing something to Muzi, then just give her a little reminder.”
Give her a little reminder… Xiao Su thought for a moment, then nodded.
“I understand, Young Master Ye. I will let you know if anything happens. Right, I’ve followed up on what you told me to investigate. Ye Linhan has been on the move recently. Earlier, he had negotiated a deal with Young Lady Shen’s company. I think they met up for this reason.”
“A joint contract?” He sneered. “He sure catches on quickly. It’s a pity… that he had thought of my woman.”
“What about his side?”
“He wants to take what’s mine, huh? I’ll be sure to leave him so bruised and battered that he can’t.”
“I got it!”
Ye Moxuan was about to hang up on the call when he thought of something and spoke, “After she returned to the country, did you do a background check on her?”
As he listened, Xiao Su was taken aback. “Do you mean Young Lady Shen?”
“Mm.”
“No, I did not. Isn’t she the same Young Lady Shen that we knew? What’s there to check?”
Ye Moxuan fell silent at Xiao Su’s reply.
That’s right. She is the same person we knew. What difference is there?
Did it matter that the child she brought was from her previous marriage? He had already known five years ago that the baby she carried was of her ex husband’s. Yet, he still fell madly in love with her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 602
He cared about her, and not about who she had been with.
Even though Ye Moxuan knew that she was once with that man, the fact that she was about to deliver his child drove him crazy with envy. Yet, he still wanted her.
He had waited for five years. No matter what, he was going to keep her by his side.
“Young Master? Young Master Ye?”
The sound of Xiao Su’s voice quickly brought him back to his senses. The moment he looked up, his eyes reflected a deep abyss with no end in sight.
“Young Master Ye, should I look up on the last five years where Young Lady Shen…”
“No,” Ye Moxuan refused in a resolute manner. “Never mind. Just do what I ordered you to do last time,” he said and ended the video call.
As he looked at the laptop screen, he thought about the shoes he saw on the rack that time.
He had yet… to meet the child.
How did this child, who she had with another man, look like?
If it were a boy, then would he look like her ex-husband?
The thought of the child standing before him with her ex-husband’s face made him clenched his fists until his bones produced cracking noises. Dammit!
He was going crazy with envy again. Why couldn’t this woman be his from start to end?
After a while, Ye Moxuan unclenched his fists. That’s fine. I’ll deal with this when we meet.
She had kept the child well-hidden for she was worried that he would not be able to accept it.
…
It was already the second day when Han Muzi woke up. The room was silent. She lay in bed, blinking her eyes for a while but nobody came in.
Did Ye Moxuan leave for work already?
At the thought of this, she threw off the blanket and got out of bed. Although her legs still felt weak and sore as she walked, it had gotten better since the day before.
When she walked to the door and opened it carefully to a tiny gap, she found that it was also quiet outside.
Han Muzi then opened the door and walked out to take a look around the house, but realized that there had been no one downstairs either.
Did Ye Moxuan go back already?
A feeling of emptiness began to grow in her heart, but it was quickly replaced by another type of emotion. She turned around and went into her room, then bent down and started searching for the pill bottle from the previous day.
She searched for a few minutes but still did not see any trace of the small pill bottle.
That was strange. Did he take it away when she was asleep?
She thought about it then returned to sit on her bedside and called Yan.
Yan teased her as soon as she answered the phone.
“Muzi, why weren’t you at work the past two days? Could it be that…” As Yan reached the end of the sentence, she let out a little giggle that irritated Han Muzi.
Han Muzi resisted the urge to roll her eyes and asked in a calm voice, “Are you at the company now? Do you have time?”
“I’m here. I should have some time. What’s the matter?”
“I- I need you to buy something for me. Can you do that?”
Yan blinked her eyes in oblivion. “Sure. What do you need? Should I bring it to you after work?”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head firmly. “If you can, buy it and bring it to me now. I… can’t go out for the time being.”
Aside from potentially being followed if she went out, she was not in a state to leave the house.
Both of her legs felt weak and sore just after a few steps. She could forget about heading out to buy the pills.
“Oh. Is it not convenient for you? Is it that time of the month? I’ll just buy it now and bring it over to you.”
“It’s not that.” Han Muzi denied, shaking her head. She found it difficult to say out loud to Yan, but she did not have anyone else to ask for help.
Alas, she gritted her teeth and said bluntly, “I need some morning-after pills.”
“Sure, no problem. I’ll go get some… morning-after pills?? Muzi, what did you say?”
Han Muzi covered her face with her hand as she felt embarrassed.
“Morning-after pills,” she repeated again firmly.
“Morning-after pills? Why… Why do you need that? Did you and Ye Moxuan already…”
“Mm.”
Since she had let the cat out of the bag, there was no point in continuing to justify herself. She admitted to Yan right away and told her about everything that happened in those two days.
“I can only say this much for now but I don’t have much time. If it’s possible, I hope you can buy it for me now.”
The both of them were best friends. How could Yan refuse to help her?
“I’ll go get it now. You just wait for me at home.”
“Okay.”
Han Muzi nodded her head. Suddenly, she thought of something and pressed, “That’s right. If you bump into Ye Moxuan on your way here, remember not to get flustered. Just pretend you’re sending some documents to me.”
“No worries. I got it.”
After the call ended, Han Muzi held onto her phone and delved back into the covers.
She waited for about ten minutes, but it was still quiet. At once, she couldn’t help but become suspicious.
Did Ye Moxuan just let her go that easily? Had he not wanted to watch her for 24 hours? How was it that there was suddenly no trace of him anywhere?
Her suspicions were still there when Yan arrived at her place and entered her room as Ye Moxuan was still nowhere in sight.
“Muzi.” Yan stepped in the room with caution, then closed the door behind her. “I’m here.”
She looked at Yan, and it somehow did not feel true; she had not expected things to go that smoothly that it had left her astounded.
She pushed away the blanket and sat up nervously, looking at the space behind Yan.
“When you arrived, did you see Ye Moxuan?”
“Young Master Ye?” Yan stared and shook her head. “No, I didn’t.”
“You didn’t?” Han Muzi was beyond perplexed. This isn’t right. After saying all those things yesterday, he can’t possibly have given up already? He is not that kind of person.
She had a feeling that something was not right.
She glanced at Yan and noticed that her face was paler than normal; her lips seemed to be kind of pale as well.
“Are you alright?”
“Huh?” Yan was startled by Han Muzi’s sharp gaze and quickly straightened her back. “What about me?”
“Why is your face so pale? Are you ill?” Han Muzi asked, concerned.
Yan shook her head immediately. “No, I’m fine. I’m not sick.”
“Where’s the thing?”
Yan opened her purse and handed the small bottle that was inside to Han Muzi. “Here.”
Upon seeing the morning-after pills, Han Muzi’s face lit up. She hurriedly reached for the bottle but did not dare to take it right away. Instead, she hid it under her pillow.
From the side, Yan watched her with a troubled look.
“Is this the right thing to do?”
“It’s nothing bad. I just don’t want to have his child.”
“But Little Bean…”
At the mention of his name, Han Mizu’s expression changed. “Don’t bring him up. Remember what you promised me.”
“Don’t worry. I will take it to my grave.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 603
“By the way, when you came in earlier, did you see Ye Moxuan? He wasn’t downstairs?” Han Muzi could not help but ask.
She still felt that something was not right.
Suddenly Yan became somehow evasive. She bit her lower lip and said, “Yes, he was downstairs.”
“He was?”
Han Muzi’s eyebrows frowned. “Didn’t you say he wasn’t earlier?”
“I… I was in shock earlier, so… I answered wrongly.” Yan began to ramble.
But Han Muzi stared at her with her sharp eyes.
“What actually happened? Why are you being hesitant? Did he find out?”
Yan’s face changed, and she kept shaking her head.
“No. He didn’t. If he did, how is it possible that you still have the pills? It’s just that… I did bump into him earlier when I came in, and he asked me what I was doing here. So I told him I was here to send you some documents… That was how he let me in. It’s just that he did not look quite good and his tone sounded a little furious. I am still a little terrified.”
As Yan spoke, she couldn’t look at Han Muzi’s eyes. She was afraid that the moment she saw her eyes she would know that she was lying.
She stared at her toes with her jaw tightly clenched.
Initially, when she first entered the door, she thought no one was home, so she was thinking to quickly run up to the bedroom to find Han Muzi.
But who knew, the moment she stepped onto the stairs, a cold male voice called out to her.
Of course Yan knew who that was, and that was precisely why she was afraid to look into that person’s eyes. She was even shivering when she turned around.
“President, President Ye…”
A cold glance fell on her face, and then it moved to the bag in her hands.
Even the soles of her feet felt cold as she was being stared at by that pair of sharp eyes. She was drenched in a pile of cold sweat and almost passed out.
“Are you here to look for Muzi?” He asked her unemotionally.
Yan kept nodding her head, feeling like her jaw was coming off.
Even though she was the previous resident of this place, standing in front of Ye Moxuan made her feel as if she was the intruder in this house, and that made her feel really uneasy.
“Why are you looking for her?” Ye Moxuan continued to question her.
Yan recalled the voicemail Muzi left on her phone, so she softly opened her mouth and whispered, “The comp… company has a document that needs to be signed so… I am here to bring it to Muzi for her to have a look.”
She was all prepared before she came. Right after she finished the sentence, she quickly took out a document from her bag. “It’s this one.”
Ye Moxuan did not take that document from her hands.
Seeing that he had no intention to find out if that document was real, Yan then put the document away and slowly muttered, “President Ye, s-since you have no other matters, then… I shall head upstairs to find Muzi.”
After finishing that sentence, Yan turned away to prepare to quickly head upstairs.
“Hold on.” All of a sudden Ye Moxuan stopped her, and Yan froze her steps and stayed put at where she was. Agony and distress flashed on her face while her back faced Ye Moxuan.
It was difficult for her to put up a show in front of this unemotional person as to the real reason why she was there to send Muzi the pills. She was still trying to hold that a little longer, but if the questioning continued, she thought she might really pass out.
“President, President Ye?” Yan turned around and looked at Ye Moxuan carefully with a curious face.
Ye Moxuan stretched out his hand and opened his palm.
“Give me that thing.”
Yan stopped breathing at that moment. She felt that all the blood in her body was drained from her. After being stunned for ten seconds, Yan took the risk and gave that document to Ye Moxuan and pretended not to know anything. “President, President Ye, do you mean this? There, there you go.”
“Not this one.” Ye Moxuan looked up and stared into her eyes. “You know what I am asking for.”
Yan didn’t know what to say.
She thought of what Han Muzi said to her and continued to pretend to be clueless. Instead, she put on a mindless smile.
“President Ye, I really don’t know what you are talking about.”
“The morning-after pills.”
Ye Moxuan hit it directly and clearly the next second.
Yan was appalled and she just stood there.
“I will never let her have the pills again.” Once again, he put out his hand toward her. Now his voice and eyes seemed to have become colder. “Don’t let me repeat that.”
After that Yan decided to give in. Her lips were pale and hands trembled while holding her phone as she took out the newly purchased morning-after pills from her pocket.
She had really considered it through—just in case Ye Moxuan would search her bag, she had left the pills on her, but with just one sentence from Ye Moxuan, she had willingly given the pills up.
How did this happen…
How was she supposed to explain to Han Muzi now that she had given the pills to Ye Moxuan?
To her surprise, Ye Moxuan passed her a small bottle instead after taking the pills from her.
“Please give this to her. Otherwise she would not give up.”
Probably only after taking those pills would that woman completely stop. If no pills were given, what happened today could possibly happen many more times in the future.
“What, what is this?” Yan hesitated for a couple of seconds. She did not reach to take that bottle from his hands.
Ye Moxuan’s eyes turned. “Vitamin.”
Yan took a deep breath. What Ye Moxuan meant was for her to switch the morning-after pills to vitamin and give them to Muzi.
“But, but if this is the case, she will not…”
Ye Moxuan looked up and, for the first time, he looked into her eyes gravely. “Do you want her to take these morning-after pills?”
“I…” Deep within her heart, Yan surely did not want Muzi to take the morning-after pills. She had been good friends with Muzi for so many years that she knew her well.
She was still in love with Ye Moxuan, no matter how much she denied it.
What if, what if she got pregnant? Would that… give her a closure in her heart to be with Ye Moxuan, as there would be no more suffering?
It was difficult to get rid of this thought the moment it came up in her mind.
Yan felt conflicted as she looked at that small bottle. Her lips moved. “But I do not wish to lie to her.”
“You have no idea.” Ye Moxuan’s eyes dimmed. “I switched these pills when you were not paying attention. You have no idea.”
As she heard it, Yan instantly lifted her head and looked at him.
“How can I not know? You gave her those pills in front of me. I…”
“Do you think… I will let her have the morning-after pills?”
Yan bit her lower lip as she knew naturally that Ye Moxuan would definitely live up to his promise. Since he said he would not let Muzi have those pills, that definitely meant he would never let her have them or even a second glance at them.
She had been in a dilemma for a couple of days, but she now subconsciously took that bottle of vitamin from Ye Moxuan’s hand.
The bottle belonged to the morning-after pills, but… the pills had already been switched to vitamins.
Yan closed her eyes and took that bottle upstairs.
The pair of eyes that were behind her followed her closely and disappeared only at the turn.
Yan stopped her steps and peeped from the corner at the tall body figure downstairs.
Forget it. She took that as a favor for Ye Moxuan, and also for Muzi.
After all, it had already been so many years. She should be letting go.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 604
The moment she thought about that, Yan stole a glance at Han Muzi.
She saw Han Muzi looking at her with affection.
“I am sorry you have suffered so much for me. Was he being difficult?”
Such caring eyes had caused Yan to be afraid of facing Han Muzi even more. It always felt like she did something exceptionally bad to her.
“No. Not at all. I was just frightened.”
“That’s good.” Han Muzi felt relieved.
“Actually…” Yan looked up and hesitated to speak.
Han Muzi looked confused. “Yes, what’s going on?”
“Not really.” Yan looked down again. She was not bold enough to look Han Muzi in the eye.
Forget it. Since she had already given the pills to her, she did not need to say anything anymore.
Knock knock—
Someone was knocking on the door. The two distracted women immediately tensed up and their faces simultaneously turned pale.
It was Ye Moxuan!
Han Muzi signaled at Yan for help, but Yan did not look good either; she could only give her a little nod on the head.
“Muzi?” A deep male voice came from the outside. The moment Han Muzi heard his voice, she subconsciously gripped the flat sheet that she was sitting on. She bit on her lip and refused to respond.
“I am coming in.” After the initial question and the lack of response, Ye Moxuan turned the doorknob and entered the room.
Looking at his stacked shadow entering the room sent shivers down Han Muzi’s spine.
Her body subconsciously moved toward the pillow where the bottle of pills that Yan just gave her was hidden. If he wanted to, he would be able to find it in a short time.
If he found the pills, according to his character…
Han Muzi dared not think if she could withstand another rage of his after discovering the pills another time.
She was biting her lower lip so hard that it started to bleed a little. Yan stood next to her awkwardly and babbled, “President, President Ye, I am here to pass some documents to Muzi.”
Finishing that, she quickly took out the documents from the bag and gave them to Han Muzi. “Muzi, please have a look at these documents. If you have no questions, just sign them and I will bring them back to the office.”
Ye Moxuan took a glance at Yan upon hearing those words. Within his eyes was a sarcastic grin.
It was quite a show.
Standing right in front of her was Ye Moxuan, staring at her greedily, and how would Han Muzi be able to understand what was written in the contract? But the show still had to go on. So she took the contract and pretended to read through it for a minute. Then, she took the pen from Yan and signed her name on it.
“Done.”
After keeping the contract and pen away, Yan looked at Ye Moxuan and then at Han Muzi. She then probed, “So… I am headed back to the office.”
Han Muzi knew she was not feeling comfortable being here. Even though she and Ye Moxuan were once husband and wife, she was scared of his temperament right now, much less Yan.
She then nodded her head, pointing to Yan to go back to the office.
After getting her approval, Yan quickly moved toward the exit. Han Muzi saw her move even quicker when she passed Ye Moxuan. Soon enough, she disappeared from the room.
In this large room, only both Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan remained.
Perhaps due to her own guilt, Han Muzi could not look at Ye Moxuan in the eye. After Yan left, she quickly put on her blanket and lay down.
When she lay down, she could still feel a little bump underneath the pillow. That was where she placed the pill bottle.
So she moved her head from that spot.
As the footsteps behind her approached, Ye Moxuan’s voice broke the silence.
“If you are awake, please eat something.”
Han Muzi ignored him and grouched, “I am not hungry, so I’m not eating.”
“Would you like me to carry you?”
This sentence instantly provoked Muzi. He removed her blanket and sat there, staring at Ye Moxuan grudgingly.
“Do you really have to do this to me every day?”
“How will you have enough energy if you don’t eat?”
Ye Moxuan looked at her nonchalantly and his voice was cold. “I will give you two choices: first, I will carry you, or second, you will get up by yourself.”
This was really funny. How could she pick the first one? She really hated how Ye Moxuan looked right now, but she was more worried about him finding out that she had kept the morning-after pills.
In the same nonchalant way, she replied Ye Moxuan coldly, “No need. I have legs and I can walk.”
She then removed the blanket, sat up, and got out of bed right away. What mattered urgently now was to get him out of the room. After all, this room had what she wanted to hide from him.
Seeing that Han Muzi had gone downstairs, Ye Moxuan inadvertently took a glance at the bed. He was still a little worried, so he walked over and took out the bottle that was underneath the pillow. After seeing that it was the bottle that he gave Yan earlier, he left it at where it was and followed Han Muzi downstairs.
On the dining table was a rich feast. Because of the private chef hired by Ye Moxuan, all the dishes were preplanned and nutritionally balanced.
If it was in the past, Han Muzi would have started to dig in, but now she really was not in the mood to eat. She needed to find the time to take those morning-after pills.
Han Muzi hurriedly gobbled up the food. Just as she was preparing to put the plate down to head upstairs for her pills, a hand came by and took away the one grain of rice at the corner of her lips.
“What are you rushing for?” These unfriendly words came out of Ye Moxuan.
Han Muzi nodded unhappily. “Yes, I am really starving. Now I am done, can I head upstairs? Or do I have to wait until you finish your food?”
Ye Moxuan knew for a fact what she wanted to do back upstairs. Since the pills had already been switched, it did not matter if she wanted to take them. So Ye Moxuan smiled and whispered, “No need. You can head upstairs.”
Having obtained his approval, Han Muzi immediately put down the silverware in her hands, stood up, and left for upstairs. When she was at the stairs, she wondered why he was not being difficult today. Was he not afraid that when she was back in her room, she would take the pills in secret?
No. Maybe Yan lied to him to make him feel that he did not have the morning-after pills with him so that he would not be worried about her.
As she was having these thoughts, she quickly got back to her room. Her guilt in her conscience caused her to immediately lock her door the moment she entered the room. She then walked to the bed, took out the morning-after pills that she kept underneath the pillow earlier, and poured them directly into her palm. Not even needing any water to go with, she swallowed them right away.
A pill got stuck in her throat as she was swallowing the pills, but Han Muzi did not feel good only for a split second. The morning-after pills had to be taken periodically: one tablet per 72 hours, and another one in the following 72 hours. This was how she could keep this bottle of pills for a long time.
Based on Ye Moxuan’s temperament, and not knowing how he would treat her tonight, she had to hide the pills, definitely not on the bed. The room only had this much space, so where could she hide it?
She thought about it for a moment and opened her wardrobe to find a big coat. She then placed the morning-after pills in the pocket, as she thought Ye Moxuan would never touch the pocket of the coat when he went for it.
After she did that, Han Muzi could not help but be pleased with herself. This must be her happiest moment in the past couple of days. Before this, she felt like she had always been imprisoned by Ye Moxuan.
Just like that, she quietly took the pills. Let’s see how he could get me pregnant then. When the time came, Ye Moxuan would then lower his guard, and that was when she could keep a distance from him.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 605
Downstairs.
Ye Moxuan slowly put the food into his bowl. With such an elegant and attractive movement, it was obvious that he was one of those upper class who had received exceptional education. He had a gentle smile on his lips as he ate. He was feeling especially satisfied, knowing that the woman was now taking vitamin pills.
She had lowered her guard and stopped thinking about the morning-after pills. Instead, if she kept taking the vitamin pills, he could get her pregnant with his child quickly.
Did it even matter if she bore the child of her ex-husband? He would have all the kids that Han Muzi would have in the future to bear his last name as they would all be his own.
The moment he thought of an adorable daughter and son surrounding him, calling him daddy, the smile on his lips widened.
He would be the only person that Han Muzi would have for the rest of her life.
In the afternoon, Ye Muxuan took the initiative to bring her to the store. Han Muzi initially considered rejecting his offer, but thinking that she had been lying in bed for the past two days, maybe it would be good to get some fresh air. Otherwise she might really end up not being able to get out of bed.
A good-looking couple would always attract attention, not to mention if this couple was Han Muzi and Ye Muxuan. These two had attracted much attention the moment they walked out together from those around them. When they arrived at the store, they even bumped into Mr. Potbelly, whom they met in the elevator before.
This time, there was another person next to Mr. Potbelly. It was a lady who had a slim body and an elegant look.
Just that she looked like a middle-aged woman, who was a little older but still looking lovely. Standing right next to Mr. Potbelly, they actually looked good together.
“Young girl, coming to the store with your husband?”
Mr. Potbelly was always excited to see Han Muzi. After he greeted Han Muzi, he turned to look at Ye Muxuan and smiled, even though Ye Muxuan had every intention to ignore him.
The lady next to Mr. Potbelly reached out with her hand and pinched him softly. “What are you doing? Who are you saying hi to?”
“Dear wife, they are the couple whom I met in the elevator that I told you before.”
The lady looked at them with confusion.
“Are they the cute couple that you were talking about? The couple that lives in the same building and uses the same elevator as us?”
“That’s right. The young girl who uses the same elevator as us in the building. This one is my… my… wife… wife…”
The moment Mr. Potbelly talked about his wife, his face immediately flushed. He was a bit embarrassed and turned to look at her but she just glared at him. “Can you not even speak clearly now? Has everything I have ever done for you gone wasted?”
Mr. Potbelly flushed. He rubbed his hands nervously and dared not say a word.
Looking at this situation, Han Muzi was feeling a little awkward and she looked around subconsciously. The way Mr. Potbelly and his wife interacted would probably never happen to Ye Muxuan and her.
“Young girl, please ignore him. He is bad with words. When I started seeing him, he could never win me over with his words. If it is not for his down-to-earth character, I would never date someone like him.”
His wife was such an out-going person that she took a step forward and held her hands. “What are you planning on getting at the store? Let’s go in together. We just got here, too.”
Han Muzi had been staying in her room for the past two days with no one to talk to. She felt a little tempted upon hearing the invitation, but she couldn’t help but look at Ye Muxuan who was standing next to her, worrying that he might not agree. The stalker incident prior to this had badly terrified them, and who knew what would happen in the store?
Talking about this incident, Han Muzi was reminded that she had forgotten to ask him who was actually stalking her that day.
It had been such a long time, and why did he not find out anything? Or maybe he had already found out but did not tell her about it. It seemed like she should really find time to question him on this.
Perhaps the prayer in her heart was answered because Ye Muxuan, to her surprise, said, “Let’s go in together.”
Mr. Potbelly was a little surprised as he thought the emotionless Ye Muxuan would reject it, but it turned out that he actually agreed to it. What was going on?
While Han Muzi was happy, she was still feeling a little skeptical. She looked at Ye Muxuan. “Are you really okay with that?”
Just as Ye Muxuan was about to say something, Mr. Potbelly’s wife grabbed Han Muzi’s hands right away and took her to her side, trying to lecture them. “Young lady, you can’t be like this. How can you ask him about everything? Do whatever you want and if he is not okay with that, you might as well split up.”
As soon as she finished the sentence, a cold and deadly stare came. Mr. Potbelly and his wife felt that a strong stare had fallen on them. However, Mr. Potbelly’s wife was not terrified; instead, she gave a smile. “Look at how possessive this person is. I was not trying to make a point, but he will definitely lose it if you really decide to be separated from him.”
Han Muzi wouldn’t know whether he was going to lose it or not, but she knew if she and Ye Muxuan separated, he would probably pester her incessantly, even to the extent of resorting to extreme measures to keep her by his side.
“Young lady, speaking from experience, do not put up with men too much. Otherwise they would bully you in the future. Look at me right now; he would never dare disobey me. If I say to go this way, do you think he would dare go another way?”
“You have to be aggressive. Only your aggressiveness can keep them in control. Let us ladies walk in the front so I can teach you some ways to keep them under control.”
Han Muzi felt a little ashamed of herself as Mr. Potbelly’s wife had been too warm. She grabbed Han Muzi’s hands to keep walking so that Han Muzi was able to catch up.
Mr. Potbelly, who was at the back, walked toward Ye Muxuan with a smile. “Let’s catch up, shall we?”
Ye Muxuan looked at him inexpressibly. “Is this how your everyday life looks?”
Mr. Potbelly was taken aback before he responded. What did Ye Muxuan mean? He scratched his head and looked a little confused. However, he became comfortable very quickly and replaced that look with a friendly grin.
“This is nothing. We are a couple. Does it matter whether or not we lose or win? Even if she wins, that doesn’t mean anything. I am her husband; naturally I will have to put up with her.”
Ye Muxuan did agree with the latter. He felt he could put up with Han Muzi, but he could not tolerate when she did not want to have his child and if she had any contact with any other men.
“I know. I am sure you think that I am pretty useless, but I feel I am happy. That is sufficient for me.”
Just as Mr. Potbelly continued talking, Ye Muxuan turned away and uttered coldly, “Stop trying to snoop around!”
Mr. Potbelly caught up from behind and looked at him. “Looking at how you two interact, are you having problems?”
Ye Muxuan frowned unhappily. “None of your business!”
“How is this none of my business? Aren’t we neighbors? Don’t we use the same elevator? It’s fate that we bump into each other so many times. Since you are having some problems with your wife, would you like me to spare you a couple of secrets?”
Secrets? Ye Muxuan smirked. “What are those?”
Did he even need them?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 606
Mr. Potbelly felt this person had a dry personality for not wanting to hear the secrets from one who had gone before him, so he pursed his lips. “Please don’t be so arrogant, young man. If you keep doing this, one day you will suffer. Since you are not interested in hearing it, I am not going to say it.”
Mr. Potbelly walked enthusiastically to catch up to his wife. Looking at him from behind, Ye Muxuan tried to catch up without any emotions.
“Let me tell you, you can’t really put up with men too much. Otherwise you will lose your place in the family. Listen to me, you have to play cat and mouse with them. Sometimes you have to treat them nicely, and sometimes not. This is how you make them feel that you are important. Also, for situations like what happened earlier, you have to decide for it yourself. If he does not want to follow along, you should just ignore him until he decides to come along.”
Han Muzi was feeling a little embarrassed. She did not feel she needed any tricks to keep her husband in control because to her, Ye Muxuan was not even her husband. What use was there even if she learned all the tricks?
Mr. Potbelly’s wife was really enthusiastic. If Han Muzi were to tell her at this point that Ye Muxuan was not her husband, she was afraid she would be throwing her off.
Forget it. Let’s take it as having a new friend around.
“Thank you. I understand.”
“By the way, he is quite handsome. He is tall enough too. But look at him, he looks cold. May I ask if he is also like that when in bed?”
This question caught Han Muzi off guard. She looked at Mr. Potbelly’s wife unbelievably. How could she ask such a question?
“My apology. I know this is something personal to the both of you. I am just a little curious, seeing how good-looking he is.”
This question reminded Han Muzi of something that had happened in the past.
When in bed, was he also this emotionless? The answer was definitely no. Ye Muxuan’s side in bed was totally opposite of who he was in the real world.
When Ye Muxuan had clothes on, he was calm, composed, cold, and relentless, but when he had no clothes on, he was fervent, greedy, and extremely dominant.
Especially that last moment, there was only one word that could describe his expression in his eyes and face
That word was ‘lust’.
That was why every time Han Muzi would not dare to look at his face. It felt like at that particular moment he just wanted to press himself into her body.
“Is his stamina excellent?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife unexpectedly asked again. Muzi was taken aback before she returned to her senses.
“What, what did you say”?
The smile on Mr. Potbelly’s wife’s face turned a little dirty. “Are you really not going to say anything about it? Do you want me to tell you a little something about the man in my house?”
Just as she was about to continue talking, Han Muzi felt completely embarrassed. She couldn’t take it anymore, so she quickly ran away.
“Hey, I am not finished. Why are you running away?”
Seeing that she had run away, Ye Moxuan quickly started to run with his long legs to catch up. When there was a distance between herself and Mr. Potbelly’s wife, Han Muzi stopped running, but hat was when Ye Moxuan caught up, who in turn grabbed her by her arm.
“What’s going on?”
An emotionless voice came to her. Han Muzi lifted her head and realized Ye Muxuan had already caught up to her. The moment she saw his unemotional face, Han Muzi was reminded of what she was being asked earlier, and started to blush.
He did not hear what Mr. Potbelly’s wife told her, did he?
Han Muzi shook her head. “Nothing, really.”
Ye Muxuan skeptically squinted. His glance fell on her blushed face, then went to her earlobes that had completely gone red.
They looked fair before, and why were they red now?
“What did she say to you?” Ye Muxuan blurted the question.
Han Muzi’s face blushed even more. All she did was keep shaking her head. “Nothing. Why are you grabbing my arm? Let go…”
Mr. Potbelly and his wife came just in time. Mr. Potbelly’s wife saw the situation and started to giggle. “You two are holding hands again! We are here at the store, so Young Lady, let’s keep talking.”
Right when Mr. Potbelly’s wife finished her sentence, she walked up and grabbed Han Muzi’s arm from Ye Muxuan’s hand and escorted her away.
Ye Muxuan stared at them from behind as he started to wonder.
What were the two talking about earlier?
Mr. Potbelly happily followed them from behind while Ye Muxuan only kept quiet and followed along.
Mr. Potbelly’s wife and Han Muzi talked a lot, and they eventually exchanged social media details with each other. Mr. Potbelly’s wife was surprised when she found out that Han Muzi was a designer and even revealed that she knew a number of fashion designers herself. If she had the chance, she would introduce them to her.
Since they were neighbors, Han Muzi had to face this situation with a smile on her face.
Having said that, Han Muzi learnt a lot just by being with her, such as picking the right vegetables and the right type of meat. She taught her almost about every detail.
Just as this group of people was headed toward the household essential aisle, they bumped into someone after they made the turn.
Black-haired, donning a pair of golden-framed glasses and white dress shirt with a delightful smile.
Han Muzi was in shock for a moment when she saw Ye Linhan. Never did she think she would bump into him here.
But she also thought maybe Ye Linhan did that on purpose since he said before… that he would be waiting for her here.
Would that possibly be today?
“What a coincidence.” Looking at her startled face, Ye Linhan smiled and said hi to her.
With the appearance of this gorgeous looking man, who also looked extremely refined, Mr. Potbelly’s wife, who was standing right to Han Muzi, looked at the both of them and whispered in Han Muzi’s ears, “Old lover?”
This almost caused Han Muzi to choke, and she just helplessly closed her eyes before turning to Mr. Potbelly’s wife.
Mr. Potbelly was such a down-to-earth person, but how would his wife be so eccentric? Also, she was such a loud person especially when she asked if he was her old lover. Why couldn’t she have lowered her voice?
Han Muzi felt really embarrassed. “No.”
After that, she thought of something and quickly turned around.
She discovered that no one was behind, not even Ye Muxuan.
Where did he go?
“He has been taken away by my husband. Maybe they are at another aisle,” Mr. Potbelly’s wife explained. “Did you only notice now? You do not seem to be too concerned about your husband.”
Han Muzi didn’t know what to reply to her.
Forget it, it was because she was too focused on listening to Mr. Potbelly’s wife and had gradually forgotten about the fact that Ye Muxuan was still following her from behind.
Who would have thought after making a turn, she would bump into Ye Linhan. The reason she turned around earlier was just to see what Ye Muxuan’s reaction was.
After all, these two brothers did not get along with each other. If they did bump into each other, there would surely be some friction.
When she thought about this, there was still a lingering fear within her. Fortunately, Ye Muxuan was not here.
“Getting something at the store?” Ye Linhan asked another question the moment when Han Muzi became quiet.
Han Muzi had not even responded when Mr. Potbelly’s wife, who was standing next to her, started nodding her head.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 607
Listening to the words that they both exchanged, one after another, Han Muzi felt a little awkward. Was this small talk?
“And you are?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife stared at Ye Hanlin curiously; he was such a handsome man. The moment he appeared, he had never stopped looking at Han Muzi. All of a sudden, Mr. Potbelly’s wife was keen to gossip. Owing to Han Muzi’s attitude toward Ye Muxuan, Mr. Potbelly’s wife suspected if Han Muzi was having an affair or if she was seeing two men at the same time.
But she thought about it again, and based on their conversations earlier, Han Muzi did not seem like a scandalous person. Mr. Potbelly’s wife dismissed that idea and returned to look at Ye Hanlin and Han Muzi.
“Why are you here?” Since Ye Moxuan was not here, Han Muzi grasped the opportunity to question him.
Ye Hanlin smiled gently. “Didn’t we establish that this is a coincidence?”
“Really?” How would Han Muzi believe this? Based on their two previous encounters, including the things that he did in the office, their encounter today only felt like one thing: that Ye Hanlin did it on purpose.
Even though they had talked it out before, this did not mean Han Muzi could be simply messed with.
Since there was someone else next to them, Han Muzi had to restrain herself when she spoke. However, Mr. Potbelly’s wife was not dumb. It was impossible that she could not tell there was something going on between them.
She smiled embarrassingly but was not leaving.
Han Muzi admired the high IQ and EQ that Mr. Potbelly’s wife possessed. If she were to say that she would not want to disturb them anymore and left them on their own, when Ye Muxuan came back to them and saw that there were only Ye Linhan and Han Muzi, he would definitely get upset.
Han Muzi looked at Mr. Potbelly’s wife with gratitude and whispered, “Erm, are you still getting anything else?”
“Not really. I am almost finished. I will just have to get some more napkins, then we can leave to head home.”
Han Muzi nodded. “Sure. Let me come with you.”
After that, Han Muzi looked toward Ye Hanlin. “Vice President Ye, I will have to go with my friend here to get something, so I will have to excuse myself now.” She smiled after speaking, took a grip of Mr. Potbelly’s wife’s arm, and they left together with the shopping cart.
A few steps later, Mr. Potbelly’s wife turned around. “He is following us!”
Hearing that, Han Muzi frowned. She had already made it clear to Ye Hanlin, so why was he still following her?
“Does he like you?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife asked. This frightened Han Muzi, and she shook her head in surprise. “That is impossible.”
Even though he had confessed his feelings to her in the past, that was five years ago. However, back then, she was already Ye Moxuan’s wife, so the fact that Ye Hanlin still chose to confess to her made Han Muzi feel that he had some ulterior motive. Otherwise why would he have wanted to pick a fight with his brother?
However, he saved her life in a car accident before. So, this suggested to Han Muzi that he might be serious about her.
That was five years ago, though. Time had flown past them since then.
Even if the feeling was real back then, it should have already been gone by now. This was why Han Muzi never considered this possibility anymore.
“How is that not impossible? Didn’t you see how he was looking at you?”
Han Muzi shook her head. “No.”
“Are you really that slow or are you faking it? He was looking at you affectionately, pretty similar to the way your husband looked at you, and you say you can’t tell?”
The way Ye Muxuan looked at her? Han Muzi was slightly confused so she couldn’t help but ask, “What kind of way did my—erm, I mean, Moxuan look at me that you’re talking about?” She was embarrassed to refer to him as her husband, so she paused for a moment when she was about to utter that word. Eventually, she decided to just wing it.
Mr. Potbelly’s wife thought she was just embarrassed and did not ask anything further. Instead, she just smiled and explained, “If you like someone, your eyes will glow when you see that person.”
“Glow? What does it mean?”
“Well, how do we describe it… It is like his eyes will light up whenever he sees you. Have you never noticed the way he looks at you?”
“… No.”
How would she ever pay attention to Ye Moxuan whenever he looked at her? Furthermore, she thought the way he looked at her now was the same as before. There was nothing special.
“Eh, you really don’t know what it means to appreciate someone. You have such a gorgeous-looking husband. Are you not afraid of losing him if you continue to behave in this way?”
Han Muzi remained silent.
Losing him to someone? She would rather Lin Qinqing and Ye Muxuan were still together so that he would not bother her anymore.
Mr. Potbelly’s wife glanced back and realized Ye Hanlin was still following them. “Is there not going to be a problem now that he is still following us? What if your husband is here later…” she whispered.
Hearing that, Han Muzi scrunched her nose up, causing all the features on her elegant yet tiny face to be pulled together. A moment later, she relaxed again. “If he wants to follow us, what can I do? I can’t restrict his personal freedom.”
“You have a point. So do we let him keep following us?”
Han Muzi looked behind her shoulder and noticed that Ye Hanlin had indeed been following them from behind. He smirked a little when he saw that she turned around. Though he had glasses on, one could still see the warmth and affection underneath his eyes.
Maybe he really did not have any ill intentions toward her. Was she thinking too badly of him?
But his showing up here was an incitement to Ye Moxuan.
That night, it was because Ye Moxuan found out that she went out to meet Ye Hanlin that he became extremely upset… and did that to her.
The moment Han Muzi thought of the last two days of darkness she went through, she immediately came back to her senses and realized she could not carry on with this anymore. Therefore, she stopped walking and told Mr. Potbelly’s wife, “Can you wait for me here? Let me speak to him real quick.”
Mr. Potbelly’s wife thought about it and nodded. “Please be quick. I reckon the two of them will be back soon.”
“Sure, I know what I am doing.”
Han Muzi then turned around and walked toward Ye Hanlin.
“What happened?” Ye Hanlin saw her walk toward him, with a bit of perplexity in his eyes. “Didn’t you say you were going?”
This question caught Han Muzi off guard. She had nothing to say.
Wasn’t he the one who was following her? Now that she came over, he was pretending to be surprised to see her. This put Han Muzi in an awkward situation.
Seeing her standing there awkwardly, Ye Hanlin fixed his glasses and smiled. “What’s going on? You didn’t think I was following you, did you?”
Were you not?
She almost blurted out these words from her mouth. Han Muzi stared at him without saying a word.
Ye Hanlin then assured her, “Don’t worry, since it is not convenient for you, I will not bother you anymore. I was just going to get something from the front. That’s why we were walking through the same aisle.”
He put it really politely. This had made Han Muzi feel if she continued to question him, it would make her seem gullible.
While they were at it, she bit her lower lips and asked, “What are you getting?”
“Are you asking me just so that you can avoid me right away?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 608
Was it not?
Han Muzi wanted to avoid him; she did not want to walk on the same path as him.
If Ye Moxuan saw her in that situation, she would only have a harder time.
The corners of Ye Linhan’s smile turned bitter. “Didn’t we clear things out the other day? I thought we could be friends from now on. Even if we bumped into each other coincidentally at the supermarket, you don’t have to avoid me like a viper, do you? Am I that scary?”
Han Muzi was speechless.
She bit her bottom lip, unsure of how to explain herself.
“I was planning to make a detour. But since you put it that way, I think I should just stay on this path with you. Maybe it’d fix that mindset of yours that you’re avoiding me like the plague.”
Finally, the smile on Ye Hanlin’s face returned with his piercing gaze falling on her face.
“Muzi, I’m not a bad person. Nor was I five years ago, neither am I now, and I won’t be one too… in the future. If you’re willing to let me, I can be like an older brother to you, regardless of your relationship with Ye Moxuan. And… I will never do anything that I’ll be sorry for to you.”
It did not matter to her, however, whether he would or would not do something he would be sorry for. For if Ye Moxuan saw the both of them just standing together, that would… potentially bring harm.
At the thought of that, she pursed her lips. Then, she opened her mouth and said helplessly, “Do you have to follow me like this? You say it’s a coincidence, but what about the last couple of days? Were those coincidences too? How can we keep bumping into each other? It has been a while since I last came to the supermarket and I just so happened to bump into you here today. Are you saying you didn’t plan for all of this?”
The intensity of his gaze weakened.
“Muzi, if you came to the supermarket everyday, then you would have bumped into me everyday too. Because I live around here … just next to your neighborhood.”
She paused and her mouth dropped open, as if it lacked the strength to close.
“What… what did you say?”
“Is it a little hard to believe? If you don’t believe me, you can have someone check it out. I moved here earlier than you did. The cashiers at the supermarket should all know me. Since I live alone, I have to come here everyday to get fresh groceries. So after hearing all of this, do you still think I’m intentionally trying to get close to you?”
Her breathing quietened, and her face turned slightly pale.
At long last, it was her who had thought too much and misunderstood him?
“I admit. I do want to stay in touch with you. But there is definitely no other hidden intentions behind that.”
“That’s enough. You don’t have to say any more.” She cut him off, then lowered her eyelids. “I misunderstood your intentions. Let’s just go our own ways now. You still have things to buy, and I need to get my groceries. I’ll head off first.”
Then, she turned to walk back to Mr. Potbelly’s wife, who looked at her and asked, “Everything’s alright?”
Han Muzi pressed her lips together and did not reply. She just pushed the shopping cart and kept walking forward.
Mr. Potbelly’s wife quickly followed from behind her. “What happened? The look on both of your faces didn’t look good in that conversation earlier. Did he say something bad to you?”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head. “He just said that… he wasn’t following us. We just happened to be on the same path.”
When Mr. Potbelly’s wife heard this, she immediately understood.
“So that’s what happened. But, why do I feel like he followed you on purpose? Hey, does he know that you have a husband?”
Han Muzi stopped in her tracks and turned her head to look at the person beside her.
“Do you really want to know?”
She nodded her head eagerly, then laughed. “We’re neighbors after all. Do tell me.”
Han Muzi figured that since Mr. Potbelly’s wife had said all those things to her, there was no point in denying at this point. Straight out, she said, “Actually, he isn’t my husband.”
Initially, Mr. Potbelly’s wife had not comprehended her words. As it sank in, however, her eyes widened. “If he’s not your husband, then, earlier, why did you…”
“Just to go along with you.”
Mr. Potbelly’s wife fell silent.
After a minute had passed, she pulled on Han Muzi’s hands. “Sweetie, you are absolutely amazing. To say that that man was your husband when he isn’t, just to keep going along with me. We should keep in touch more often and go on more outings together. It’s fine that he’s not your husband. Are you two a couple then?”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head.
“No??” Mr. Potbelly’s wife was stunned. “Then… then what is your relationship with him? By the way he treats you…”
“He is my ex-husband.”
Mr. Potbelly’s wife became speechless.
The weight of the news had hit Mr. Potbelly’s wife hard enough that she was not able to respond right away and was left dumbstruck. When she finally gathered herself, the corners of Han Muzi’s lips curved upward into a self-deprecating smile.
“It’s quite funny, isn’t it? We’re no longer a married couple, but he still keeps me confined like this.”
As she said this, Han Muzi lowered her eyes and looked dejected.
“Hey, it’s not really that funny. Don’t be like this.” Mr. Potbelly’s wife tugged at her arm and continued walking while turning to look back at Ye Linhan. “Actually, it’s better if he’s your ex-husband.”
“What?” Han Muzi did not understand. “If he’s my ex-husband, then it’s better?”
“That’s right. If he’s your ex-husband, then that means he’s pursuing after you now. Does he want to get back with you?”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded for a moment before nodding her head a few times. “Y-Yes, perhaps.”
After all the things he had done, was it not to get back with her?
“Probably. Why is your self-esteem so low, though? If I were as beautiful as you, then mine would have soared through the sky already. He is your ex-husband now, anyway. There is still a chance for other people. For example… the one behind us.”
Behind?
Han Muzi furrowed her brows and glanced behind her. Apparently, Ye Linhan was still walking along their path.
“Two extremely handsome men chasing after you at the same time. Who do you prefer?”
Han Muzi was speechless.
“It’s fine even if you don’t like them. After all, you’re so beautiful. You’ll get plenty of chances, so just take your time and choose carefully. In my opinion, the one who looked cold earlier is not too bad. I can tell he is a successful person just by looking at his face. But… a man should not be too cold. Say when you’re in bed together, if he still maintains his cold demeanor like that and lets you take initiative for everything, you won’t be able to enjoy yourself.”
Han Muzi’s expression changed, and she said in a small voice, “Can we not talk about this?”
“What’s wrong with talking about it? We’re both adults here. Oh… I’m suddenly curious why you two got divorced. Is it because he’s frigid?”
Han Muzi was speechless.
Ye Moxuan? Frigid?
How was that possible? How did he always end up on the wrong side of people’s impressions of him? The last time when he had become paralyzed and ended up in a wheelchair, everyone thought he was hopeless. Only Han Muzi, his wife then, knew that he had the strength within him.
Now that he had overcome that, there was someone who just assumed he was frigid.
It must be his face and expression that had fooled everybody. He always burnt with passion and had never lost in a fight. How could he possibly be frigid?
The reason she divorced Ye Moxuan?
As she thought about it, her eyes turned bleak. Who knew if their marriage even existed? The person she was five years ago was merely a woman called Shen Qi who had married into his family.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 609
As soon as the opportunity came, she had to leave.
Han Muzi knew from the start that the ending would not change, so she had left without saying a word.
When she remembered that moment, she still felt a ripple of sadness in her heart. Her eyes burnt a little too.
But Mr. Potbelly’s wife had taken her desolated look to assume that they had divorced because of his frigidity.
She pondered for a moment, then said, “I think you should go for the fine man in glasses behind us instead.”
Han Muzi was shocked. “W-What are you saying?” she asked awkwardly.
“I’m being serious. Don’t be with a man who has frigidity!”
“That’s enough. Let’s hurry and go.”
Han Muzi noticed Ye Linhan inching closer to them with every step, so she ended up pushing her shopping cart in the opposite direction. If he wanted to follow them, then she would turn in a different direction and head back up.
After all that, if he was still following behind them, then it would seem very deliberate.
“Oh you…”
After she went around for a bit, Han Muzi looked back and did not see Ye Linhan’s shadow anymore.
“There’s no need to look. You had gotten rid of him a long time ago. Sweetie, what is the problem? You’re single. One more man just means one more option, doesn’t it?”
“It will never happen for us.”
She said it before. He was just an older brother to her; nothing could happen between them.
“As long as you’re all single, why not?”
“It just won’t happen.”
Han Muxi quickened her pace and walked straight ahead. Mr. Potbelly’s wife kept up with her enthusiastic explanation as she followed along behind her. Han Muzi did not know where she had found all that enthusiasm to be able to say so much; it clearly had been… their first time meeting each other.
Suddenly, Han Muzi understood why she and Mr. Potbelly could become a couple.
Before they could say more, two men approached them. It was Ye Moxuan and Mr. Potbelly.
Ye Moxuan carried a bag in his hand and a cold expression on his face. Mr. Potbelly was also holding a bag but it was significantly bigger than Ye Moxuan’s.
“Did you buy everything?”
“Yes, I bought everything.”
Han Muzi looked up and met Ye Moxuan’s gaze. Then she remembered what Mr. Potbelly’s wife had said to her and was unable to look straight at him.
So, she pretended like she had not seen him and walked away whilst pushing her shopping cart, leaving an ignored Ye Moxuan standing there speechless.
His brows furrowed together. He was about to go after her to ask why she ignored him when someone tapped on his shoulder. He quickly turned around to find Mr. Potbelly’s wife leaning forward towards him. With a frown, he took several steps back.
“Tsk!” She looked at his face and bluntly disapproved. “It’s still that icy cold look.”
Ye Moxuan looked displeased as he stared at her. “Is there a problem?”
“Not really. I just pity you.”
Ye Moxuan was confused.
“It doesn’t feel great to be abandoned, does it?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife said as she looked at his pitiful eyes. “Actually, you’re not entirely hopeless. I know a hospital with the most advanced technology and treatments. Do you want me to recommend it to you?”
His frown deepened. He had no clue why she would recommend a hospital to him out of nowhere. Did Muzi say something to her when they were together earlier?
But no matter how much he thought about it, he did not think that there was anything abnormal about his body.
“Oh, if you’re still thinking about getting back with Muzi, then just listen to my words.”
Getting back with Muzi? He raised his eyebrow.
“I know you’re her ex-husband and that you’re chasing after her now but she hasn’t accepted you. Do you know why?”
“Why?”
He had practically blurted the word out; after all, he also wanted to know the reason.
He had been by her side for such a long time yet she had never accepted him. Moreover, she had only become more distant toward him.
These days, even though they were in the same bed together, it felt as though they were in two separate worlds.
There was no difference between being awake and asleep.
Therefore, he wanted to know too. He really could not understand a woman’s heart. Although he had hurt her in the past, he was doing everything he could in the present to make up for it, and he could only hope that she saw his true intentions.
However, all his efforts seemed to have been in vain and had even backfired.
Sometimes, he just had no idea what the problem was.
Could it be that she did not love him?
At the thought of that possibility, Ye Moxuan felt suffocated. There was a blunt pain in his chest and he did not look too good.
“Looks like you really want to get back with her.” Mr. Potbelly’s wife looked ahead with a happy look on her face at Han Muzi who had been browsing. Ye Moxuan followed her line of vision.
Han Muzi was reaching up to grab something off the shelf. After she retrieved the item, she looked seriously at the packaging to search for the instructions and dates. Her profile looked beautiful from the side and her bright and clear eyes twinkled like a sky full of stars.
“Beautiful, isn’t she?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife asked.
Mr. Potbelly who had stood at the side replied, “She is beautiful, but my wife looks the best.”
Ye Moxuan cast a sidelong glance at him, then brought his eyes back down and nodded his head. Of course, she was beautiful.
Ye Moxuan had taken her upon his liking. How could she not be?
Furthermore, Han Muzi was not an ordinary beauty. If she was in a crowd and the people were informed that she was single, she would have definitely gotten heaps of suitors.
It was just that her rubbish ex-husband had failed to see her.
Ye Moxuan was cursing at her ex-husband in his mind when he realized he had overlooked something—that he had also become her ex-husband.
To put things in order, Lin Jiang was now her ex, ex-husband.
“That’s exactly why. Your ex-wife is this beautiful. If you don’t try harder, you might really lose her to another man.”
He frowned as he heard that.
“I know it can be embarrassing to talk about these things. But with proper treatment, you will certainly restore your health one day.”
As he listened, Ye Moxuan felt that something was not right. What did she mean by ‘these things’, and what was so embarrassing about them?
“Pardon me, but what exactly is the problem?”
“Are you still too embarrassed to say it? I’m telling you. If you keep being like this, you’ll never get to make her yours again.”
He was speechless.
“The hospital I recommended to you is good. My husband’s friend was treated there. If you need it, I can give you their phone number,” she said as she dug her phone out and searched for the number. Mr. Potbelly, who had been listening at the side, tilted his head over as he struggled to follow their conversation.
“Just wait until you’ve treated your illness and present your mighty and dashing self in front of her again. Best believe she will get back together with you in an instant.”
At that point, Ye Moxuan got a gist of what she was saying. His eyes narrowed and focused ahead of him on Han Muzi who was still picking items off the shelves. “What did she say?”
Mr. Potbelly’s wife had gotten so annoyed with him that she just blurted out, “She said your frigidity was the reason you guys got divorced!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 610
Frigidity?
Ye Moxuan was dumbfounded by this sudden accusation. However, Mr. Potbelly’s wife assumed she had hit a raw nerve and immediately continued to console him, “Don’t be discouraged. As long as you get the proper treatment, you will definitely make a full recovery.”
At that moment, his gaze remained in the far distance at Han Muzi who was still looking for something. The corners of his lips curled up into a slight smile.
He was frigid?
He snickered. It looked like he had been too easy on her so she still had the energy to slander him that way in front of someone else.
“Are you listening to me?” Mr. Potbelly’s wife analyzed his face, still deeply concerned.
Ye Moxuan glanced at her and pursed his lips while Mr. Potbelly blinked at him “You… really can’t get it up?”
Two pairs of inquisitive eyes shifted to look at Ye Moxuan, causing him to clench his teeth.
“I am a normal man,” he said through gritted teeth.
Mr. Potbelly blinked again. “You may think you’re normal. That was what our friend said too. But you don’t seem normal to other people.”
Mr. Potbelly’s wife nodded in agreement. “Exactly. You still need to go get it treated. Here, save this number in your phone.”
The vein in his forehead twitched as he said calmly, “No, thank you.”
“Don’t be modest now. Here, here.” Mr. Potbelly’s wife had practically forced his phone out of him and gawked as he put the number in. A smile then appeared on her face. “That’s right. If you’re ill, you have to be treated. The sooner you recover, the sooner things will start moving along again. Don’t you worry now. We’ve exchanged WeChat details so I’ll be sure to put in a few good words for you.”
Although he was disconcerted, her last offer would have greatly benefited him. “I don’t want to be a bother.”
“No, you’re not a bother at all.”
He chuckled then strode over to Han Muzi.
Mr. Potbelly and his wife stood where they were. With a dazed look on his face, Mr. Potbelly asked, “Dear, is it okay for us to be doing this?”
“What harm is there? Besides, we should help each other out as neighbors.”
“What if… she doesn’t want to be with him again?”
“You don’t understand a thing. Do you think I haven’t noticed the way they look at each other? As a woman, I understand another woman more than you do.”
“Oh.”
…
Han Muzi was struggling as she tried to reach for something on the shelf. The shelves were taller than her and she had not worn heels that day.
She had strained to stand on the tip of her toes but was still unable to get close to it. Then, a big hand reached up and effortlessly brought the item down for her.
She looked up and realized that it was Ye Moxuan.
“Do you want to buy this?” he asked.
She nodded. “Yes.”
He looked down at the round of her head, down to the back of her neck, and further to the faint marks he had left on there.
Despite leaving all those marks, she still thinks I’m frigid? He sneered. Then, he asked, “What did you talk to Mr. Potbelly’s wife about earlier?”
As she listened, her heart began to thump. She saw that Mr. Potbelly’s wife had murmured to him earlier as she walked away, but she was too far from them to have heard what was being said. Plus, she had always thought that it was rude to eavesdrop so she did not even try to listen to their conversation.
Now, however, his question had made her uneasy.
She did not even have the courage to look at him and only shook her head. “Nothing much.”
“Oh?” He smirked. Ye Moxuan leaned forward and hovered close to her lips. “If you didn’t say much, then why are you so nervous?”
His hot breath fell on her ears, making her shudder. “Am I?”
“Aren’t you?” he asked, then blew in her ear.
Surprised, she covered her ears. She stepped back and glared at him to find that he had a mischievous smile on his face.
She thought for a moment that perhaps Mr. Potbelly’s wife had already exposed their conversation to him. For someone with a light mouth, how could she have kept it to herself?
At the thought of that, Han Muzi was in despair.
She should have known better than to play along with Mr. Potbelly’s wife.
She chewed her bottom lip and said, “I’m not!” Then turned to walk off.
There were a bunch of people at the cashier counter. He had followed behind her and was thinking of ways to deal with her when they got home so she would no longer think he was frigid.
After all the items were checked out, Ye Moxuan pulled his focus back and brought out his wallet. He was about to tap his card down when another credit card appeared and tapped down before him.
Han Muzi was still tugging at her pocket to get some change out.
The sight of the two cards left her dumbfounded, and she raised her head up.
Ye Moxuan also looked up to see the owner of the other card. His pupils immediately dilated as he realized who it was.
The person who tapped his card was none other than Ye Linhan.
He had a sight smile on his face as he met Ye Moxuan’s cold eyes and said gently, “Moxuan, it’s been a while.”
Ye Moxuan was speechless.
Han Muzi thought she had gotten rid of that person but it turned out he was waiting there.
Did he just tap his card at the same time as Ye Moxuan? To make things more awkward, he had also been in the other line.
Mr. Potbelly and his wife had watched this whole scene from behind. Mr. Potbelly’s wife clicked her tongue and crossed her arms in front of her. “Is he trying to provoke him?”
Because Mr. Potbelly had been with Ye Moxuan the whole time, he did not know about Ye Linhan and their relationship, so he asked, “What’s the matter?”
“What else is there? The two rivals have come face-to-face.”
Rivals… Mr. Potbelly observed.
Besides him, the people around them had also watched that scene in curiosity. It was a case of a handsome man and beautiful woman except that there were two men instead with only one woman.
The onlookers typically craved good gossip material. The scene of two men fighting to pay for one woman had peaked their senses and attracted their attention, so much so that their eyes were glued at it and they had even disregarded the cashiers.
Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrow. All traces of a smile on his lips had disappeared and his eyes were flat. He moved a few inches forward, grabbed Han Muzi’s hand and pushed the card in her palm, then said in a low voice, “Good girl. Finish paying up and let’s go home.”
The way he acted made it seem as though he did not see Ye Linhan.
Ye Linhan’s pupils contracted behind his glasses; his fingers had gone white from holding on to the card. However, he proceeded to keep his card without any haste. “Not even a ‘hello’ to your big brother?”
Ye Moxuan grabbed Han Muzi’s hand and finished the payment. As soon as the cashier bagged all their items, he held onto her hand and glared at Ye Linhan. He scorned, “Big brother? You?”
