Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 611

The relationship between Ye Moxuan and Ye Linhan had long since broken down. The days when they would still occasionally greet each other were now all in the past.

After Ye Moxuan said that out loud, the expressions of people around them changed.

Did they have a grudge?

Mr. Potbelly’s wife’s eyes widened as she heard what he said. “I didn’t expect him to have such an overbearing character. His reply was impressive. But… they were brothers?”

She looked at Ye Linhan, curious to see how he would respond after getting humiliated in public that way.

Just then, Ye Linhan had also finished paying. He kept his card as he walked forward. His face did not show any signs of fury or exasperation from being humiliated; it was just the same gentleness and calm as before.

He said casually, “Do you still blame me for what happened? It wasn’t my intention. I didn’t want to do it either.”

Ye Moxuan snickered, not willing to hear him out. When he followed Ye Linhan’s gaze from behind those glasses to his and Han Muzi’s hands, he tightened his grip on her soft hand before locking their fingers together.

“Wasn’t your intention? Then did you do it for someone else?”

Ye Linhan looked at him. As their gazes met in mid air, their eyes blazed with fire and a silent battle began.

Han Muzi knew the both of them had never gotten along, but she did not know that their relationship had already shattered completely. Ye Moxuan’s desire to show off his dominance in front of Ye Linhan had been so strong that his grip on her hand was tighter than it had ever been before.

Moreover, she had sensed something from Ye Moxuan since Ye Linhan appeared.

That… was fear.

However, she assumed that she had been mistaken as she could no longer feel it now. Moreover, it did not seem right to have felt that from Ye Moxuan.

How could the sight of Ye Linhan instill fear in the high and mighty Ye Moxuan?

Even though Ye Linhan had registered his own company, he still could not beat the Ye Group.

So where did that fear come from?

Ye Moxuan was not interested in talking to Ye Linhan. He took the hand that was in his and headed out of the entrance. Han Muzi watched his sturdy back as she followed from behind him—one hand in hers and the other holding the bag of groceries they just bought. At that moment, he looked like the husband who had brought her to the supermarket.

Sadly…

Han Muzi lowered her head and her eyes darkened.

While he watched this scene unfold before him, Ye Linhan silently suppressed the cold and sharp look in his eyes. Then, he carried his bag of groceries and left too.

Mr. Potbelly, who had witnessed the whole thing, sighed. “The human heart is impossible to understand. I feel bad for his older brother. After being treated so harshly, he still responded in such a kind way.”

“This is why we say men are shallow. That was his strategy to gain the upper hand in their fight, yet you thought he was being kind?”

“Huh?” Mr. Potbelly rubbed his head. “Gain the upper hand?”

“You say you’re not ignorant but you probably can’t understand this, right? If he starts a fight with his rival in front of the woman he loves, then wouldn’t he lose his credibility? Don’t take him lightly just because of his looks. There could be a lot going on in his mind.”

“In his mind? How would you know? Can you tell just by looking at someone?”

“Of course not. Besides, we had only met for the first time. I would be overestimating myself if I said I was sure. I was just saying that he might look easy-going, but he could also be a deep thinker. It’s just a possibility, but it’s not unlikely either!”

As she finished speaking, Mr. Potbelly’s wife turned around and gave his head a smack.

Mr. Potbelly rubbed his head. “Oh, I got it.”

“However…” Mr. Potbelly’s wife crossed her arms and watched Ye Linhan’s back in the distance. Her eyes narrowed. “Even if he isn’t the kind of deep thinker that I think he might be, there is definitely nothing ordinary about that man.”

“I don’t get it.”

“Ugh. Let’s just go home.”

Mr. Potbelly quickly ran after her.

Han Muzi was dragged by Ye Moxuan along the way home. However, she just followed and did not say a word because she knew he was in a bad mood, which made her uneasy.

But then his strides were too far apart and she was getting exhausted. Alas, she said, “Can you walk a bit slower?”

Ye Moxuan paused when he heard her. He turned back to find her out of breath, then realized what he had been doing.

His eyes flashed, and he stopped walking.

“Are you tired?”

“What do you think?” She glared at him with spite in her eyes.

She was not just tired. After getting tormented by him, her legs were already sore. She had spent half the day out and about, and now he was walking so quickly. Was he not tormenting her?

Han Muzi was slightly aghast as she clutched onto her waist and huffed.

He looked around and did not see a place where they could rest. Then, he kneeled down, bending his back forward, and said, “Get on.”

“What?” she replied.

She looked at him in disbelief. If she didn’t read it wrongly, Ye Moxuan wanted to piggyback her?

But… they were full-grown adults. She thought that piggybacks were more for younger children.

And she…

“Why are you hesitating?” he asked when he saw her standing there staring into space. With one arm, he pulled her over and onto his back.

She did not have time to react before she was sprawled over his broad and sturdy back. As his other hand was holding the grocery bag, he only had one free hand to support her backside. “You better hold on tight if you don’t want to fall,” he urged.

Then he stood up.

Everything had happened so quickly that Han Muzi instinctively reached out to hug his neck.

As soon as they touched, his lips curled up into a satisfied smile and he began walking with her on his back.

They had not been too far away from their neighborhood. But she was worried that the weight of both her and the grocery bag would be too much of a burden on him. “I think… I’ll get down and walk on my own now.”

He chuckled. “Who whined that she was tired earlier?”

Han Muzi had nothing to say.

She lowered her eyes and looked at the veins on his neck. She should not have said anything. Now it was her fault?

After they walked a bit more, she had a feeling he was tired, even though he did not sound like he was out of breath, so she adjusted herself on his back in an attempt to make herself lighter.

However, after fidgeting around, his breathing became heavy and he said in a low voice, “What are you doing moving around on my back for?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 612

Han Muzi froze when he said that and she did not dare to move another inch.

“Hm?” Ye Moxuan prompted when she did not give him a reply.

She bit her bottom lip awkwardly and said in a small voice, “I just thought carrying me like this would be uncomfortable, so I…”

He broke into a lighthearted laugh. “First, you don’t want to walk and now you’re complaining about being piggybacked? Should I just carry you home in my arms?”

“…I would rather be piggybacked.”

She decided not to overthink the situation. Ye Moxuan did not lack physical strength, anyway, so giving me a piggyback might not be a burden on him at all. I should not worry too much.

At the thought of that, she just ignored him.

The sky slowly grew dark. They drew the attention and admiration of people who passed by them on the streets.

Initially, Han Muzi was not used to their stares. But then… What did that have to do with her?

Feeling at ease with that thought in mind, she stayed on his back and let him carry her all the way home.

They arrived in their neighborhood not too long after. She wasn’t sure if she was reading too much into things, but it was as if Ye Moxuan’s pace significantly slowed. He was also taking his time with each step.

Time passed by as he continued to move forward. Their surroundings became quieter, but for the sound of the leaves being blown in the wind and following his footsteps.

As night fell, tranquility set all around them.

Han Muzi could only hear the sound of their breathing, and it had been exceptionally clear.

“So today…” Ye Moxuan suddenly spoke, his deep voice gradually filling the night.

“What?” she asked, rather perplexed.

He remained silent for a while before he said, “Nothing.”

Then, they returned to silence again. He carried her all the way to the front of the elevator before putting her down.

When they reached the 18th floor, she followed him out of the elevator and stood quietly.

After she heard him put the passcode in and opened the door, she brought her focus back and stared at him.

“H-How did you know my passcode?”

He held her hand and walked inside. Without a change in composure, he said, “I figured it out from the times I heard you put it in.”

The truth was that he had unintentionally glanced at her passcode once. For someone with an exceptional memory, that one time was more than enough for him.

Bang!

She was still in a daze when the door slammed shut. As she slowly came to the realization, she became furious. “Did you watch me put my passcode in last time? How can you tell just by the sound of it? Do you think I’m a three-year-old child…”

The first thing Ye Moxuan did when he entered the place was drop the grocery bag down the side of the cabinet. Then he turned around and pinned both her hands up above her head, pushing her against the cold door board.

The shock from being pinned down suddenly drained the color from her face. “What do you think you’re doing?”

He leaned his body forward. His hoarse voice resonated like a cello being played slowly.

“Today, you told Mr. Potbelly’s wife that we got divorced because I was frigid?”

Shocked, Han Muzi’s expression changed. Earlier, she had been worried that Mr. Potbelly’s wife might have snitched on her to Ye Moxuan. But on the walk home, she figured Mr. Potbelly’s wife was just more open toward her but had still kept their conversation just between ladies.

She did not think that Mr. Potbelly’s wife would actually tell him.

However, when did Han Muzi say she divorced Ye Moxuan for that very reason?

Had it not just been her assumption?

She moved her lips to speak. “When did I-”

However, Ye Moxuan kissed her and stopped her from speaking. Her eyes widened automatically and pupils contracted as she moved her hands instinctively.

He grabbed a tight hold of her hands and pressed his body against hers, deepening the kiss.

Just when she thought she was about to run out of air, he broke away from her. He panted as he looked down at her forehead, covered in beads of cold sweat. “Were the past two days not enough for you? Is that why you still had the energy to spew such nonsense?”

Han Muzi was finally able to breathe again. With a frown, she said, “I didn’t…”

“You’re still denying it. Is this your way of opposing me? Am I not passionate enough?”

As she opened her mouth to speak again, Ye Moxuan pulled her chin up with his bony fingers so that she was looking straight into his eyes.

She wanted to deny his accusation but the moment she looked into his eyes, she noticed a sparkle in them.

It reminded her of what Mr. Potbelly’s wife had said to her at the supermarket earlier that day.

When you see the person you like, your eyes will light up.

She had never noticed it before, except for that one time five years ago…

She could barely remember but his eyes had glimmered with light.

Her memory had been fragmented at that time and she could not piece them together.

But today, she saw the truth.

She moved her lips and said almost as a reflex, “I- I don’t think so.”

“You don’t think so?” He raised his eyebrows, then his lips curled up. “That’s what you’d like to think.”

She was speechless.

Her ears also felt slightly hot.

Ye Moxuan forced their fingers to intertwine. His eyes grew deep as he said, “In that case, I should let you experience for yourself… what passion really is.”

Then, he leaned down and crashed his lips against hers without even giving her the chance to breathe.

When Han Muzi woke up, she had almost wanted to lose hope in life.

With the blanket over her, she lay in bed and thought, Would the after-pill I took last time still work?

Did she have to take another one?

But I shouldn’t be taking so much medicine. She felt unsettled.

Disheartened, she flipped over and closed her eyes.

The next time she bumped into Mr. Potbelly and his wife, she would take a detour. For if a day like that were to happen again, she would not be able to handle it.

The phone hidden under her pillow vibrated. Han Muzi was dumbfounded for a moment before she took it out and looked.

She realized Han Yishu had sent her a message on WeChat.

Little Bean: ‘Mommy, are you still busy with work lately? When are you coming to get me? *cute emoji*’

When Han Muzi saw the cute emoji at the end, she could almost see through the screen at his adorable face.

During her time there, she had missed Han Yishu everyday. She wanted to go home and watch him run up to her then embrace him in her arms.

He was her baby who had spent all those years with her—he was her favorite human.

But she had to send him to Han Qing because it was the safest place he could be.

It went without saying that the Han Family was her strongest backbone.

Han Muzi smiled. She turned back around and sent a reply to Han Yishu.

‘Mommy has been thinking about you a lot. But I still have some things to take care of. So… you will have to hang in there a bit longer.’

Only heaven knew how badly she wanted to bring him home.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 613

‘Mommy, did you know? Ever since we came back to the country, you’re never with me anymore. Hmph! I’m getting upset.’

Han Muzi pondered for a while then realized that it was true.

A multitude of things had happened since they arrived, especially with the sudden appearance of Ye Moxuan. Because of that, she had to keep him away from Han Yishu or send Han Yishu away. Either way, she would never let the both of them meet.

In short, more distance between them meant fewer chances of meeting. Sigh.

Han Muzi sighed and continued typing.

‘Sorry Little Bean. It’s Mommy’s fault. This time, I will definitely finish taking care of everything and bring you home!’

‘Really?’

‘Of course.’

‘Then you have to promise me, Mommy, that you will never send me away again, no matter what happens.’

Han Muzi felt her heart ache.

She had failed her duty as a mother.

‘I promise. If I send you away next time, then Mommy will be a puppy.’

‘Love you, Mommy! *heart emoji*’

At the last text, a smile returned to her face. She was about to reply when a deep manly voice suddenly came from behind her.

“If you feel that way, why don’t you bring him home?”

The sudden sound of his voice spooked her and her phone fell out of her hand, plopping onto the frame of the bed. Her eyes widened; she almost had a heart attack.

Her overexaggerated response made him frown. He pursed his lips as he reached out to retrieve her phone for her, but before he even got close to it, she quickly moved and pressed her phone behind her back. Because of that, his hand landed on her waist instead.

He looked down and met her beautiful but alarmed eyes.

After a moment, he said gently, “Why are you so nervous?”

Her breathing was uneven and she did not answer him.

“Are you afraid that I’ll do something to him?” With a slightly grave expression, he asked as he looked at her, “You have a son but I have never met him before. You even kept his shoes away and locked his room. Are you worried that I won’t be able to accept him?”

Han Muzi did not respond.

How could she tell him? It’s because he looks exactly like you. I’m worried that you’ll start having other concerns if you meet him, so I can’t let you see him.

No, she could never say those things out loud to him.

She bit her lower lip without giving him an answer.

As Ye Moxuan watched her, he grew impatient. He felt as though she had intentionally kept the child hidden away from him.

He laughed at the thought.

“Are you really afraid that I won’t be able to accept him? You’re worried and afraid because he is your ex-husband’s, right?”

She broke away from his gaze. The phone had vibrated against her back, but she disregarded it and remained pressed on top of it.

His big hand stayed fixed on her waist and his eyes deepened. “You silly woman. Why do you always see me as such an intolerant person? Five years ago… I had already accepted this child.”

She was compelled to look at him again.

“Do you think the child is more important than you are to me? I know he is your ex-husband’s, but… this child also has your blood. If you let me, I am willing to treat him as my own son.”

Han Muzi didn’t respond.

She would be lying if she said she was not surprised.

She had imagined a thousand different versions of his inner thoughts on this, but she had not imagined that one before. He had never seen Han Yishu, so he had always thought that Han Yishu was her ex-husband’s.

But in spite of thinking that Han Yishu was her ex-husband’s, he was still willing to live a life with her?

This side of Ye Moxuan…

“I won’t force you.”

He saw the dilemma in her eyes and knew she would need time to consider, so he said plainly, “I’ll give you time to think.”

Time to think?

She went for it. “If you’re giving me time, don’t you think you need to give me space too?”

He hesitated. “Are you trying to get rid of me?”

“You’re in my sight everyday. How will I be able to think?”

He thought for a moment, then said, “Alright then, I’ll give you time to consider. You want space too? How many days?”

How many days? How is that enough time?

She frowned.

“A few days isn’t enough?” He raised his eyebrows. “Then how long do you need?”

“A month,” she blurted out the answer that was in her mind.

He did not say anything.

His eyes darkened. This woman is brave to have her own condition. But one month? Is she trying to kill me? He thought, then straight away said, “No.”

“No?” She was not satisfied either. “Why not? You’re the one who asked me how long I needed, and I need a month.”

“A month?” He narrowed his eyes. Then, he leaned his head down toward her until their noses touched. “So you made me wait for five years, and now that you’re back, you’re going to make me wait another month? Are you trying to kill me?”

He asked the last sentence right at her ear. As he spoke, he even blew some air and made her quiver all over.

This little… rascal.

She moved her face away from his burning lips. “I can’t deal with you. An agreement is an agreement. If you don’t agree, then don’t ever make me consider this again.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“Yes.”

“Fine.” He pursed his lips then chuckled. “I can even give you my life. What’s not to agree?”

She inhaled and said no more.

He got up and she was free again. Then, she pulled her phone out from under her back and looked at her WeChat; Han Yishu had not sent her anything. She thought for a moment then decided not to reply.

Instead, she turned to look at Ye Moxuan who was sitting on the edge of the bed and fixing his collar. “Did you find out about the people who followed me the other day?”

Ye Moxuan’s actions paused for a while. As he remembered the conclusive culprit Xiao Su had informed him of, he replied coldly, “Not yet.”

“Not yet?” She frowned. “It’s been a few days but you haven’t found anything?”

He looked back at her and saw that she had looked at him with a face that screamed ‘How can you be so useless?’

He knitted his brows without realizing. As the person in charge, telling her who the culprit was would be like opening her scars from that year again.

But if he did not tell her, then his reputation would be harmed.

How much would people mock him if they heard that President Ye of the great Ye Group could not even track down those measly stalkers?

But she was smart enough to realize his silence and her expression changed. “You found out, didn’t you?”

He remained silent.

“Is it something you can’t tell me?”

He stood up and smoothed the last crease on his shirt, then said, “What matters is that no one will follow you anymore. You are safe for the time being.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 614

After he mentioned it so clearly, Han Muzi’s previous doubts were now confirmed. She narrowed her eyes and sized him up.

“You found out who it was, but you don’t plan on telling me?”

He looked at her calmly. “It won’t be good for you to know too much.”

“But I’m the victim here. Don’t I have the right to know?”

“Then what? What can you do after you find out who it is? Will you confront this person or seek revenge?”

His words left her baffled. She locked eyes with him for a moment then laughed from being furious.

“So, you think you’re doing this for me because knowing too much won’t be good for me, and you’re choosing to keep me in the dark instead by not telling me the truth?”

“Muzi.”

“Tell me. Am I wrong to say so?”

Ye Moxuan was scared of her. He sighed and went closer to her. “Do you really want to know? Even though it’s already been taken care of, you still want to know?”

She gripped her fist tightly and nodded with determination. “I have the right to know.”

Of course she had to know who it was. After she had been terrorized for no apparent reason, how could she not even know whether it had been a person or a ghost?

As he saw the determination in her eyes and the stubbornness written all over her face, he knew that she would go find out for herself if he had not told her.

He pondered for a bit before he hinted, “The truth is you know this person.”

“Nonsense. Why would a stranger want to harm me?”

“… It’s an old friend of yours.”

“An old friend?” She thought of all the old friends she had but it did not seem like she had that many. She could not figure out who was cruel enough to cause her such harm.

“Can’t think of anyone?” He chuckled and reached out to caress her hair. “You will be very disappointed once you find out who it is. This was why I didn’t want to tell you. If you really can’t think of anyone but you still want to know, then I’ll bring you there tomorrow. You’ll understand once you see for yourself.”

She did not say a word.

After he left, she sat in the room by herself and thought about what he had said.

An old friend… I will be disappointed once I find out?

Who is that?

In that instance, a face appeared in her mind. But she quickly got a hold of herself and shook the thought out of her head.

No, I can’t. Before she saw who it was for herself, she could not let her mind jump to conclusions and falsely accuse people.

To suppress the complicated thoughts in her head, she got up and headed to the bathroom to wash up.

She turned the shower head on and washed herself with the hot water. As the heat rose up, her heart gradually settled down.

The second day.

Ye Moxuan arrived to take Han Muzi out.

When they entered the elevator, she said coldly, “After we meet that person today, you don’t have to follow me around anymore. Let’s get back to our own business.”

He looked at her pointedly from the side and sneered. “Heartless woman. You’re throwing me away after using me?”

Speechless, she looked at him, slightly irritated. “Didn’t we agree on a month?”

“When did I say that I would give you a month?” His eyebrows shot up. The corners of his smile carried disdain. “I’m willing to give you time and space to consider, but… that doesn’t mean we can’t see each other.”

So he still wanted to meet?

Then what was the point of the conversation we had yesterday?

Han Muzi knew he was shameless and that he would not show all his cards at once. “I feel conflicted whenever I see you. How can I come to a decision if I have to see you everyday?” She shut her eyes.

“So you’re saying we should meet once every few days?”

Once every few days?

She furrowed her eyebrows in discontentment. This time, he was unhappy. He clenched his jaw and pressed her up against the elevator door. “I agreed to give you a month’s time to think, but we can’t possibly not see each other everyday, right? Meeting once every few days is my bottom line.”

Han Muzi considered and thought it was still fine to meet once every few days.

She debated a bit more before she nodded her head.

“Okay… then. I got it.”

After she answered him, his lips began to curl up into a satisfied smile. With that, he lowered his head and nibbled at her lips. “Good girl.”

However, she pushed him away and stormed off to one side.

Nonetheless, he had succeeded in kissing her and that was enough to keep him content. How could he stay mad at her? He assumed she had just gotten embarrassed.

After all, she and her son would live with him in a month. By then, her son would become his son too.

As they got in the car and drove off, she fixed the collar on her shirt and leaned back in the seat then closed her eyes.

When they stopped at one of the red lights, Ye Moxuan looked sideways at her.

When he saw her fast asleep and breathing calmly, he subconsciously lifted his hand and brushed over her cheeks lightly with his thumb.

Ever since they met again, she had always acted unnatural around him. Getting from that point to where he was now, as he watched her sleep soundly, had not been an easy process.

If things continued to develop in that direction, they would reconcile again soon enough.

He stared intently at her red lips and could only let out a sigh in his mind.

Muzi, don’t make me wait too long again.

She did not know how long she had slept for, but she dreamed that she still had unfinished tasks left to do. Then, she woke up suddenly and her eyes shot open.

When it came to her attention that the car had already stopped, she looked around and met Ye Moxuan’s eyes.

“Did you get enough sleep?”

She felt slightly awkward. When they got in the car, she had been fairly tired so she closed her eyes to rest for a bit, but she did not expect to sleep for that long.

“Wipe off your drool,” he said all of a sudden.

As she had just woken up and was still in a dazed state, she automatically reached up to wipe the corners of her mouth when he told her to.

But it was dry.

She looked up furiously to see his mocking gaze.

“You!”

“Can’t believe you fell for that so easily. I guess you drool pretty often?”

“Talk about yourself.” She swung her head and looked outside, not in the mood to argue with him. “Are we here? Is this where I can find out who it is?”

“Mm.” With a nod, he got out of the car and walked over to open the door for her. “You can get out of the car now. It’s this restaurant. You’ll know who it is once you go in.”

As she got out of the car, he even shielded the top of her head. His actions touched her and gave her the impression that he had changed a lot.

The Ye Moxuan she knew from the past was also someone who did many things for her, except that his words were always harsh and sharp. When she had asked him if he was treating her well, he boasted that he was not.

Unlike the person he was now…

Ye Moxuan then handed the car keys to the chauffeur, and brought her into the restaurant.

After they found a spot with a good view and sat down, Han Muzi’s eyebrows furrowed together. “What are you doing? Did you bring me here to see that person, or to eat western food?”

He glanced at her. “Why the rush? We can eat while we see that person. Is there a problem?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 615

We can eat while we see that person?

Han Muzi wanted to roll her eyes at him, but that would make her look defeated so she just resisted.

She held back and did not say another word.

Shortly after they sat down, a waitress approached them with the menu. When the young girl saw Ye Moxuan, her eyes sparkled.

“H-Hello. What would you like to have?” Nervous and ecstatic at the same time, she placed the menu right in front of him and looked at him with a bright red face.

She had completely overlooked Han Muzi who sat across from him. However, Han Muzi glanced at the young girl and did not react in any way.

Ye Moxuan, meanwhile, pushed the menu in front of her and asked gently, “What do you want to eat?”

Only then did the young girl notice there was someone across from him and quickly looked in Han Muzi’s direction. Her sudden gaze made Han Muzi feel slightly awkward. Her lips twitched and she said, “Anything is fine.”

When Ye Moxuan saw that she was disinterested, he did not ask any further. He ordered two portions of beef ribs and some red wine, then gathered the menus and handed it back to the waitress.

The young girl retrieved the menus then glanced at him bashfully before she walked back happily with the menus tucked in her arms.

Han Muzi watched the young girl from behind, then turned to look at Ye Moxuan who was sitting, relaxed and composed, in front of her, before blurting out, “I guess you still have your charms.”

He paused briefly then raised his eyebrows, as though a thought had struck him.

“Jealous?”

She was speechless.

She ignored him and looked elsewhere without saying anything. He felt compelled to lean forward and said in a low voice, “Don’t worry. You’re the only one in my heart.”

Upon hearing that, she glared at him and caught a glimpse of the mischievous smile on his face.

“Ahhh, I have something to tell you guys. A handsome man with extremely unrivaled looks just stepped into our restaurant. He looked at me once and I thought I was going to be intoxicated in his eyes. I don’t think I’ve even seen anyone as handsome as him on television before.”

The young girl was called Su Qin. As she walked back with the menus in her arms to where her colleagues were, she could not help but tell tattle to them.

Shen Yiyi looked at her with a strange expression. “Is he that handsome? To get you so carried away like this.”

Su Qin nodded her head with force. “It’s true. He’s exceptionally handsome! Not the ordinary kind of handsome, but the kind with intense charms and overflowing testosterones with every move he makes.”

“Based on what you’re saying, he does sound attractive. How about… I bring out the food in your place later?”

Su Qin saw Shen Yiyi’s blushed cheeks. They were best friends and Su Qin was still a young girl at heart. She thought about it then nodded in agreement. “Sure, you can go on behalf of me. But you have to tell me what you think when you come back later.”

“No problem.” Shen Yiyi patted her chest in affirmation.

Then, their order was sent to the chef. As the beef ribs were ready, Shen Yiyi headed to the front and prepared to serve them out when she was suddenly knocked over by someone.

With a thud, Shen Yiyi fell on the ground and cried out in pain. She was unable to process what had just happened.

“Yiyi!” Su Qin saw what had happened from the side and frantically went over to help her up. “Are you okay?”

Both of them looked up and saw that the person who had knocked Shen Yiyi down was Meng Xueyou.

“Meng Xueyou, what do you think you’re doing?” Shen Yiyi screamed at her in anger.

However, the expression on Su Qin’s face changed when she saw Meng Xueyou. She immediately bit down on her bottom lip, too afraid to speak.

“What am I doing?” Meng Xueyou was scornful and cackled. “Don’t you know the rules? Since when was this in your jurisdiction? I’ll serve these beef ribs instead.”

She wanted to see for herself who that handsome man was. If he was a second-generation rich, then she could change her goal.

At least she would not have to stay in the restaurant all day and get bullied. Just the thought of what had happened to her two days ago filled her with anger.

“How… how can you do this? Su Qin was the one who took their order. Even if I don’t serve them, it’s not up to you to serve them either,” Shen Yiyi said furiously.

Tsk. Meng Xueyou grabbed the plates and walked in front of her. Suddenly, she lifted her leg and kicked Shen Yiyi, who cried out in pain and cradled her leg. “What the h*ll are you doing?!”

“Letting you know who the boss is here.” Meng Xueyou smiled wickedly. “I just kicked you but no one came to help you. Do you see now? If I want to serve that table, then I will serve that table. Who are you to question me?”

Shen Yiyi’s eyes flashed red from the anger inside her. She wanted to reach up and have a go with Meng Xueyou, but Su Qin pulled her back tightly.

“Don’t do it, Yiyi!”

“Let me go!” she screamed in anger. “I’m going to go all out on her. On what grounds can she treat me like this? On what grounds!”

“Not happy?” Meng Xueyou lifted her jaw up arrogantly. “Go to the manager and report that I just kicked you, then. Let’s see if you can still keep your job after that.”

As she finished speaking, she turned around proudly and walked out with the plates in her hands.

Shen Yiyi raged with anger and desperately wanted to go after her but was still pinned down by Su Qin.

“Don’t go, Yiyi. You will lose your job. It’s not easy for us to find jobs to start with. If you get fired, what will you do about your rent?”

“Let me go. Just because jobs are hard to find, it doesn’t mean she can treat me this way! I will get even with her today no matter what.”

However, Su Qin still kept her held down. The people who watched from the side could not help but sigh.

“Just let it go. Even if you want to get even with her, it doesn’t mean she’ll give in to you. We all know that the manager is on her side. The most you can do is vent your anger, but nothing good will come out of it.”

“Exactly. She basically snatched the plates away from you. She’s threatening your livelihood so why don’t you let it go? We don’t need to serve that table to see the handsome man. We can make up an excuse later to wipe the table next to theirs, then we’ll be able to see him.”

“That’s right, Yiyi. They’re not wrong. Try to let it go.”

Her anger had skyrocketed from being knocked down and kicked. Even after she listened to them, their words did not appease her.

She bit her bottom lip. “I will definitely report this. Does she think she’s all great and mighty now? The moment she gets beaten down, I will show her that I’m not someone to be reckoned with.”

Meanwhile, Meng Xueyou felt proud; a wide grin had broken out on her face. As she walked out with the plates in her hands, her pose had even become alluring.

Even though everyone had worn uniforms, hers was altered significantly to be extremely seductive—low cut, short skirt, black stockings and high heels.

In her mind, she had only thought of making an unforgettable impression when she would meet the handsome man.

She quickly neared table number 8, but her eyes narrowed when she caught a glimpse of the man’s broad and sturdy figure.

Why does this back seem… rather familiar? Where have I seen it before?

Of course, she had been too busy looking at Ye Moxuan in that moment that she did not notice the person sitting across from him.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 616

As she approached the table, Meng Xueyou finally had a clear view of the person’s side face in front of her. Even though it was only from the side, she was still able to recognize the person’s sharp eyes and distinct features.

After taking a look at that person, Meng Xueyou was surprised and almost released what she was holding in her hands.

How could it be Ye Muxuan?

Could he be the gorgeous-looking man whom Shen Yiyi and Su Qin were talking about? However, did they not just meet a couple of days ago? Why was he here again today?

Could it be that… he no longer wanted her to be here anymore?

When thinking about this, Meng Xueyou turned pale. When she was about to run off subconsciously, a familiar female voice came out.

“Xueyou?”

This voice had caused Meng Xueyou to freeze in her footsteps. She gradually lifted her head and looked toward the source of that voice.

A beautiful face with sharp features appeared before Xue Mengyou.

Meng Xueyou’s blood ran cold, and the plate that she was barely holding onto had finally dropped to the floor.

Clang!

A plate of steak had gone wasted just like that. When the gravy spilled, some of it even spattered on Meng Xueyou’s shirt, face, and neck.

Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan were a good distance away, so they were not injured by this.

At that particular moment when the plate was dropping, Ye Moxuan had swiftly stood up and shielded Han Muzi from it.

Compared to Han Muzi, who was being protected, Meng Xueyou looked particularly pathetic.

“Are you okay”? Ye Muxuan turned his head and asked.

Han Muzi looked at him, confusingly, as he came and shielded her first thing when the incident took place, protecting her from the dirty things. How could she possibly not be okay?

Even if he did not do what he did, given the distance, she would not get hit either.

So Han Muzi shook her head.

Seeing this, Meng Xueyou felt miserable.

Five years ago she was the Young Lady of the Han Family, high up in the air, and Han Muzi was just a daughter who was not being favored in the Shen Family. She was nothing but trash in her eyes back then.

But five years later, things had completely turned around.

She was the one turning into trash now, even… to this extent.

While Meng Xueyou hated her, she was also afraid of seeing her, as she really did not want her to see what she looked like now.

Thinking of this, Meng Xueyou turned around and was about to walk off.

When Han Muzi saw that she was leaving, she quickly stood up and tried to stop her.

“Xueyou, did you do something to all the packages and takeouts previously?”

Ever since last night after Ye Moxuan told her that she would be disappointed when she found out who that person was, there was the image of the face of a person inside Han Muzi’s head. She felt that before she saw that person, she should not be prejudiced against anyone.

But today when she finally saw the person, the face of the person in front of her was actually the same as yesterday.

Xueyou…

Five years ago they were such close-knit sisters. Who knew she would…

Meng Xueyou was originally thinking of running away because the state that she was in right now would only become a laughing stock for them, but Han Muzi’s words managed to stop her. She never looked back, but just stood there.

“Why?” Han Muzi stared at her back, trying hard to utter that question.

She did not know what she did wrong. Why had Xueyue suddenly changed and even attempted to kill herself in front of Han Muzi?

This word seemed to have provoked Meng Xueyou, who had been standing there. She suddenly turned around and looked at Han Muzi with a cold smile.

“Why? Do you really not know why I am against you? Young Lady Han, what are you trying to do now? Did you come to this restaurant to laugh at me? To make me look bad?” Meng Xueyou threw a quick glance at Ye Moxuan, then shot a fierce glance at Han Muzi.

“And even brought someone to support you? You want me to look bad? Let me tell you, that is impossible.”

After finishing her sentence, Meng Xueyou was still able to keep her back upright. Her eyes were full of resentment, staring at Han Muzi.

The resentment in her eyes was so full that it almost overflowed. Han Muzi could not believe it. Her pink lips moved but she could not say a single word.

“Back then… it was you who did something bad to me.”

Now, how could she act as though she was in the right? Han Muzi considered it for a moment and turned next to Ye Moxuan. “I would like to have a word with her privately.”

Before Ye Muxuan was about to oppose, Meng Xueyou immediately yelled, “Who wants to talk to you privately? Now, you are Young Lady Han, and there is nothing more to say between us. Also, both of you upper classes, please use the exit on your right. This restaurant will not serve you today.”

Meng Xueyou turned around and left right after she finished talking. All she left for Han Muzi was the view of her back.

Han Muzi’s countenance changed, and she bit her lips, wanting to chase after her.

But she was grabbed in the arm by Ye Moxuan. “Stop chasing after her.”

“But…”

“You came here today just to see who that person is. Do you really want to catch up with her?”

When Han Muzi heard it, she became quiet immediately. She slowly dropped her eyes and was then brought out of the restaurant by Ye Moxuan.

After getting in the car, she spaced out and even forgot to fasten her seat belt.

It was Ye Moxuan who reached her to help her fasten her seat belt.

Han Muzi was deep in her thoughts the whole time.

She never thought she would see Xueyou again, even under such circumstances.

Xueyou used to pass herself off as Han Muzi. Now that she was no longer the Young Lady of the Han Family, did she… go back to her gambler father?

Did she work at the restaurant? Why was she dressed like that?

Han Muzi recalled the low-cut top and mini skirt that Xueyou wore and the black stockings.

While she was at it, she closed her eyes tightly. Her mind was all messed up.

Why? Why did she turn into this?

Even though Han Muzi had ended her sisterhood with her back then after she found out Meng Xueyou was also going after Ye Muxuan, Han Muzi still felt bad after seeing how pitiful she looked right now.

After all… she used to be such a great friend.

Back then, Xueyou meant so much to her.

“Don’t think so much. She completely deserved the situation that she is in today.”

A dead voice came through. Han Muzi came back to her senses and opened her eyes.

She saw that the car had come to a stop at the light, and then Ye Moxuan turned around and looked at her.

“She deserved it?”

“Seeing how pitiful she has become, why are you even feeling bad?” Ye Moxuan asked.

Han Muzi did not respond. But, undoubtedly, she was feeling uneasy within.

“Why don’t you think about the things she did to you? Two times of stalking, two times of threats—they were all her doings.”

“But…”

“But what? Do you wanna be a Holy Mother?” Ye Moxuan suddenly looked stern. He stared at her firmly. “You knew well how she became the Young Lady of the Han Family, didn’t you?”

These words hit home and dismantled all the restlessness Han Muzi had been having in her heart.

That was right. She remembered how Meng Xueyou became the Young Lady of Han Family back then—initially she approached Han Muzi with an ulterior motive, and later she had been nice to her because… she had already stolen her identity and she was feeling guilty, and that was why she treated her extra nicely just so that she could fill less guilty.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 617

Seeing how things had developed until now, she and Xueyou could never go back to how they were before.

She could tell how much Xueyou hated her from how she looked at her. At this point, Han Muzi felt a little sad.

She probably hates me so much that she wants to kill me. Otherwise, why would she repeatedly do those things? When she was staring at her, her eyes were full of overwhelming resentment.

The thought that they were once such close friends made Han Muzi feel regret and pain in her heart. She closed her eyes and did not say another word.

Suddenly she heard from Ye Moxuan. “I will protect you well.

Ye Moxuan was a promise keeper. In the following days, he told her that he would give her space and time to consider, and he never once came to her place to look for her or pestered her for them to be together.

At first, Han Muzi was afraid that he would visit her uninvited, so she never dared look for Little Bean. After quietly observing for two days, she noticed that Ye Moxuan did not visit anymore. She hurriedly went to look for Little Bean.

When Little Bean saw her, he ran to leap into her arms. Han Muzi bent over and hugged Little Bean tightly in her arms. She missed him dearly.

“I missed you so much!” Han Muzi rubbed the back of his head and let out a sigh.

“I missed you very much too, Mommy!” After speaking, Little Bean even tiptoed and kissed Han Muzi on her cheek. “Mommy, kisses!” He pointed to his cheek, signaling Han Muzi to kiss him back.

Han Muzi smiled, her eyes and facial expression completely softened. She lowered her head and kissed Little Bean on his cheek. After seeing that he was still pouting, she gave him another kiss on the other cheek. She whispered, “Are you happy now?”

“Hmph.” Little Bean pouted. “Barely happy. Mommy, you have not visited me in such a long time, yet you never sent me any text messages! I thought you didn’t want me anymore!”

This serious talk cracked Han Muzi up. She reached out to Little Bean’s nose and gave it a pinch. She helplessly said, “Don’t overthink! Leaving my son? Why would I ever do such a thing?”

“Hmph. Mommy, you always say you won’t do such a thing but you have not visited me in such a long time!” As he said this, Little Bean clung to Han Muzi’s arm with both of his arms and started acting cute. “Mommy, you’ve promised me that when you take me home this time, you will never send me away again!”

“Mm-hmm…” Han Muzi nodded. “Yes, Mommy did promise you that.”

“So Mommy, please stick to your word this time. If you send me away again, I will never talk to you anymore.”

“I promise. Mommy will never send Little Bean away again.”

“Pinky promise?” Little Bean put out his hand and Han Muzi had to make a pinky promise with him. After making the promise, a glimmer of cunning flashed through Little Bean’s marble-black eyes. As long as I get to stay by Mommy’s side, I will be able to see Daddy soon!

Even though he wanted to acknowledge his father, he knew that Han Muzi was not willing to. Therefore, without her approval, Little Bean could not allow Ye Moxuan to know how he looked like and who he was. However, things would be different if he moved back with Han Muzi.

If Daddy visited and ran into me, he would surely know how I looked like. That wouldn’t be my fault as it would be accidental. By that time, Mommy and Daddy can be together! The thought of this made Little Bean happy.

He started planning in his heart on how their life would be like after they were together. Ye Moxuan had never fulfilled his responsibility of taking care of him, so once they became a family, Little Bean would squeeze a lot out of him.

“Mommy, shall we go home now?”

She gave it a thought and nodded, “Sure. But you have to put on your hat and sunglasses.”

Little Bean gladly agreed.

When Han Muzi was about to take Little Bean with her, they ran into Han Qing at the door.

Ever since the last incident, Han Muzi rarely met Han Qing. Hence, when Han Qing saw her, he could not take his eyes off her. He then whispered, “Here to take Little Bean home?”

“Qing.” Han Muzi nodded and said, “Little Bean has been staying here for the past couple of days. I am less busy with work now, so I came to take him back.”

Han Qing looked down and saw Little Bean, who was standing next to her, and smiled. “If you’re too busy with work, why not move back home? Little Bean can have someone to take care of him, and when you are busy, you don’t have to send him over.”

Move back home? Han Muzi shook her head reflexively.

How could I possibly move back? She wanted to live independently, and more importantly, Ye Moxuan would always come to bother her, so if she did move back, wouldn’t Ye Moxuan directly barge into the Han residence? If Ye Moxuan were to go against Han Qing, that would be quite a fight.

“There is no need for that. At our house, there are three of us—Yan, Little Bean, and I—and we can take care of each other. Furthermore, I’d like to have my own life; I can’t always rely on you.”

Hearing this, Han Qing could not help but sigh. He walked toward her and looked at her deeply. “But, Muzi, I am willing to constantly take care of you.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She lifted her eyes and looked at Han Qing, who was still staring at her as if she meant the world to him. It was somewhat weird actually; if Han Qing were not her biological brother, she would almost believe that Han Qing was into her.

After all, what kind of brother would go above and beyond for his sister? No matter how one put it, it did not seem reasonable. However… if she thought about what happened to him before, this seemed to make sense. He had lost his father when he was little; his sister went missing; he also lost his mother shortly after. The constant departure of family members was deeply traumatizing for Han Qing.

When he found Han Muzi, she became his only family. As someone who had been alone for a long time and had never felt affection from family members, he would understandably want to constantly take care of her and be codependent with her.

This feeling seemed to make sense to Han Muzi. But at the same time, this feeling would cost one’s freedom.

Fortunately, Han Qing was not particularly controlling toward her. He was willing to let her start a company by herself and manage it independently, as well as live by herself.

Of course, Han Muzi knew that this was his way of pampering her. That was because she was his favorite sister.

The thought of this made Han Muzi sigh. She then whispered, “Han Qing, I still would like to live on my own, but… in the future, I will always bring Little Bean over to visit. If you have time, you can always come for a meal. We have many rooms so you could stay over too if you’d like.”

Han Qing finally unveiled a gratifying smile. “Sure.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 618

On the way home, Han Muzi realized that there was a very serious issue.

Earlier, she had invited Han Qing to frequently come for meals, and even offered him to let him sleepover. If he did come over to stay the night one of these days and ran into Ye Moxuan…

The thought of this made Han Muzi feel unwell.

“Mommy, what’s wrong?”

Hearing those words brought Han Muzi back to her senses. She looked at Little Bean who was sitting next to her and leaning on her arms. She thought about how he would be living with her again after this. What if Ye Moxuan suddenly visits? What am I going to do then?

Even though the truth would eventually come to light, she still… wanted to put in some effort. However, did she genuinely think so in her heart? Did she really… not want to be with Ye Moxuan?

“Nothing. Mommy was just thinking about something.”

Little Bean had his eyes open and he looked at her curiously. “What’s the matter, Mommy? Why don’t you tell me so that I can help bear your burden?”

Let him bear my burden? Han Muzi looked at his naive, tiny face and thought of what Ye Moxuan told her that day. He said… even if she bore the child of her ex-husband, he was still willing to take that child and treat him as his own.

Really? Can he do that? She was a little skeptical about it, as she felt that men were generally very narrow-minded, and they would never tolerate their women having anything to do with other men. Even though she did not have any relations with other men, Ye Moxuan seemed to believe that the child was Lin Jiang’s.

That was because she had just become part of the Ye Family not long before she found out that she was pregnant. Therefore, in Ye Moxuan’s memory, this child must be Lin Jiang’s.

While Han Muzi was thinking about that, she slowly opened her mouth and said, “Didn’t you… tell Mommy before this that you want to find Daddy?”

The latter part of the sentence had to be structured carefully as it seemed like an inquiry.

Little Bean heard that and blinked in surprise. He then whispered, “Mommy, are you going to find a daddy for me?”

Han Muzi nodded. “Yes. Didn’t you always want to find him?”

“But…” Little Bean put out his tiny hands and poked his two index fingers against each other. “I only want to find my real daddy.”

At this point, Han Muzi suddenly realized what Little Bean was trying to say. She considered it for a moment while biting her lower lip. “What if Mommy is referring to Little’s Bean’s… real daddy?”

Little Bean’s eyes immediately lit up. “Mommy? Are you willing to help me find my real daddy?” He was euphoric as he tightly held on to Han Muzi’s hand. “Mommy, so when do we start looking for daddy?”

This kid… Why did he get so happy the moment I said that? Han Muzi thought about it and figured that maybe in the eyes of a kid, being able to find his biological father was something extremely exciting.

“No rush. If there is the opportunity, Mommy… will let you meet him.”

“Thank you, Mommy!”

Han Muzi and Little Bean hugged each other and all of a sudden, it felt like the knot in her heart had been untied. If it was possible, she hoped that Little Bean and her could always be happy. Thinking about this deepened the smile on her face.

Ever since Little Bean moved back home, Han Muzi began a lifestyle of leaving early and returning late. She would send Little Bean to school in the morning then go to the office; in the evening, she would pick him up, and go back home.

Life seemed very peaceful, but Ye Moxuan seemed to have disappeared.

Han Muzi felt strange until… Leng Yueyue told her that Ye Moxuan left the country these last few days for business. Only then did she find out he was no longer in the country.

The thought of him leaving the country and not even sending her a text message made Han Muzi feel empty inside—as if something was missing. I finally convinced myself to bring Little Bean home and now… he leaves the country without saying a word?

“Do you… know how long it will be before he returns?” Han Muzi couldn’t help but ask.

Leng Yueyue wrinkled her nose. “How could I possibly know? I was only there to turn in my design submissions and suddenly, I heard them say that President Ye was out of the country. They told me not to look for him in the next few days.”

“Sure, I understand.” Han Muzi nodded, indicating that she understood.

Leng Yueyue looked at her. “Muzi, why do you look a little disappointed?”

Han Muzi remained silent. She used her backhand to touch her face. Is it that obvious? Did my disappointment show on my face?

At this point, there was nothing she could do. “Well, carry on then.”

“Sure.”

After Leng Yueyue went out of the room, she ran into Yan who was preparing to go in. Being the nosy person she was, she quickly pulled Yan into the nearest pantry.

“Why are you grabbing me? I have work to report to Muzi. Please get out of the way.”

“Yan, Muzi looked distracted earlier.”

“Distracted?” The moment Yan heard that it was about Han Muzi, she stopped walking and looked at Leng Yueyue attentively. “What do you mean by that?”

“I told her President Ye is out of the country, and then she… looked disappointed.”

Hearing this, Yan had a realization. So it’s because of Ye Moxuan.

She had always known about Han Muzi’s feelings for Ye Moxuan. Despite spending the past five years abroad, Han Muzi had never stopped having feelings for Ye Moxuan.

She appeared to be calm and cold on the surface for she had built walls around her heart. The feeling was still there, albeit hidden under a layer of ice. Ye Moxuan had probably already melted a considerable amount of that layer of ice.

At this moment, Yan nodded. “I understand.”

Upon finishing that sentence, she planned on turning around to walk outside, but Leng Yueyue quickly stopped her. “Why are you so calm? Did something happen… between Muzi and President Ye?”

“Whoa, Leng Yueyue, I couldn’t tell you were such a busybody. Should you be nosy about your boss?”

“I was just asking. Just curious, that’s all!”

“Are you just curious or are you interested in Ye Moxuan?” Yan squinted at Leng Yueyue wickedly. She did not mean to speculate accusingly, but Ye Moxuan was a very attractive man after all, so how many women could resist his charm?

Leng Yueyue heard that and her eyes widened. “You’re thinking too much! Him? He’s not my ideal type at all.”

“Oh, so what does your ideal type look like?”

My ideal type? Leng Yueyue did not have an ideal type, but Wang An’s image was all that was on her mind right now. She quickly shook her head. “Damn it. Why would I think of him at this moment? That was horrifying.”

“Think of whom?” Yan became curious.

“Who else besides that snob, Wang An?” Leng Yueyue touched her face. “It’s like he never left. It’s bad enough that he loves bothering me all the time.”

Looking at her right now, Yan could be sure that she had no feelings for Ye Moxuan. She patted Leng Yueyue suggestively. “Congratulations, you have successfully fallen into his trap.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 619

“His trap? What do you mean?” Leng Yueyue looked at Yan with confusion.

Yan giggled and shrugged her shoulders. “You will know in the future. I have to report to Muzi now; I’ll be off.” After finishing that sentence, Yan left the pantry, leaving Leng Yueyue there by herself. The latter was touching her jaw, feeling befuddled. Did I fall into Wang An’s trap? What trap? She thought about it carefully and Yan’s suggestive expressions earlier came to mind. Leng Yueyue quickly reacted to it and became upset.

“Yan, come back! Who says I have fallen into Wang An’s trap? Who would like that kind of person? Come back here!” Leng Yueyue ran out of the pantry.

Meanwhile, Yan had already slipped into the office and placed the documents in front of Han Muzi.

Hearing the voices outside and seeing how Yan was acting suspiciously, Han Muzi let out a smile. “What did you do to her?”

“I didn’t do anything!” Yan could not help it. “Don’t worry about her. Just take a look at this report I prepared. This is the list of orders since we started the company, as well as the expenditures and sales.”

Han Muzi picked up the documents when she heard this.

Before this, when it was just her and Yan, it was always the latter who helped her take care of these matters. That was because Yan was in the finance department when she was working at Ye Group back then. Besides, she was also particularly good with money and figures. Therefore, after this company was incorporated, Han Muzi did not hire anyone redundant so she could save some money, and Yan took over finances right away.

Plus, Han Muzi trusted her. After reading through the documents once, she smiled and said, “Well done. As long as you think there are no problems, then it’s alright. There is no need to run it by me.”

“Of course I have to run it by you.” Yan stared at her and sat down right next to her. “I can only be at ease after you have reviewed it and discovered no issues. Even though we are good friends, we still have to be clear with the accounts. Also, when I was out there earlier, I heard from Leng Yueyue that President Ye is currently overseas for business?”

Hearing Ye Moxuan’s name, the smile on Han Muzi’s face faltered, thereupon she nodded. “Mm-hmm.”

“How do you feel?” Yan moved toward her and looked at her thoughtfully as if she was trying to read something from her expression. They were getting too close and that made Han Muzi feel a bit awkward. She then pinched her glabella. “I am sure that loud-mouthed Leng Yueyue has already told you everything, so why do you need to rub it in my face.”

“Hmph.” Yan harrumphed. “I knew you haven’t given up.”

Han Muzi did not respond, and she closed her eyes sorrowfully. “So what? Even if I have not given up and even if we can start all over again, there is no guarantee that the same mistakes won’t happen again.”

“I don’t know whether the same mistakes will happen again, but I know that if you miss this opportunity… you might not have another chance. How many five-years do we have in our lives? Unless, of course, you plan to be by yourself for the rest of your life. If that’s the case, then you don’t have to think of him ever again.”

Don’t think of him ever again? The sorrow in Han Muzi’s eyes grew more intense. That’s impossible.

Even if he did not show up in front of her, she could not help but look for news about him online. Though if she was discovered, she would never admit to doing it. Let alone him being with her every day—doing and saying all the things that touched her heart.

Han Muzi blinked and clenched her fists that were on the desk. She seemed pained when she opened her mouth. “What if… I accept him? Would that make me look… cheap?”

These words caused Yan to turn around abruptly and look at her. “Muzi, why would you think that?”

Han Muzi opened her eyes once again, and in her beautiful eyes, there was hesitation and confusion. “Isn’t it bad for me to think this way? He treated me horribly five years ago, and now, with just a wave of his hand, I get back together with him. Wouldn’t that make him think… that I can be easily manipulated?”

Yan was left speechless. “I don’t think so. Based on my understanding of what Young Master Ye did to you, I don’t think he is that sort of person.”

“I don’t think he is that kind of person too, but… I just can’t get over it.” Han Muzi sighed lightly. She rested on the desk, feeling weak and exhausted while mumbling to herself.

“I brought Little Bean home and promised him that I would never send him away anymore.”

At this point, Yan widened her eyes shockingly. “Do you mean that… you want the father and son to get to know each other?”

Han Muzi remained silent.

Yan swallowed nervously. “Why would you do that? Were you not extremely against this idea before, saying that you would try your best to hide it for as long as you could? Why the sudden change of mind?”

“Even though I am Little Bean’s mother, I do not have the right to deprive him of his right to choose. Little Bean is very mature, and although he is young, he can discern what is important from what is not. If I keep restricting him, wouldn’t I be hurting him?” This was coming from the point of view of a mother.

Yan looked at the worn-out and weary Han Muzi who was resting on the desk; she felt particularly sorry for her. She leaned forward and hugged her shoulder. “Muzi, you are overthinking. Just go with the flow, okay? Don’t try so hard to protect Little Bean anymore, and certainly don’t deliberately reject Young Master Ye. Just go with the flow in everything that is happening. No matter what, I will stand by you.”

Han Muzi opened her eyelids. “Was that for me, or my brother?”

Yan was rendered speechless, thereafter she rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Since when did you become this mean? Of course it’s for you! Otherwise, did you expect me to say right to your face that I’m doing this just to win over your brother? Wouldn’t you be disappointed in me then?” At this juncture, Yan joked, “Even if it’s really for your brother, you can’t do anything about it. Wouldn’t you want me to be your sister-in-law?”

Han Muzi couldn’t help but giggle. “It will depend on how good you are. You have already stolen a kiss, but he still hasn’t reciprocated. Now that I have brought Little Bean home, you have lost your last opportunity to be in a favorable position.”

Talking about this made Yan chuckle.

“Now that you mention it, why did you bring Little Bean home so soon?” Yan grabbed Han Muzi by her arm and shook her vigorously. “Ah… you owe me the opportunity to see him!”

Han Muzi felt a little dizzy from the shaking. “I had no choice. Little Bean is my son, and I can’t possibly let him be by my brother’s side all the time. Sooner or later, he will have to move back home. If you like my brother, even if you don’t have a reason, you would still rush over to see him.”

“But, what reason should I use to visit?”

Han Muzi giggled. “The reason is not important… The important thing is that you want to see him.”

Yan stood there dumbfoundedly for a few moments before she came back to her senses.

“I understand now. The important thing is not the reason, but the fact that… I want to see him and go after him!”

“Uh-huh.” Han Muzi nodded.

“I got it, Muzi. Thank you!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 620

After Yan received the answer from Han Muzi, she felt confident instantaneously, and her spirit had been restored.

This was the first time she noticed that Muzi had another skill so she could not help but said, “Muzi, you are good at this. I reckon you are qualified to be a love guru.”

After hearing this, Han Muzi could only let out a bitter laugh. Who could she be a love guru to? She could not even take care of her own love life. However, what she just told Yan… had surprised herself.

She looked down at the documents on her desk. Did she want to see Ye Moxuan right now? It seemed like it. So, should she follow her instincts and give him a call?

In recent times, he always took the initiative to show up around her, but now, he was out of the country and did not give her a call, and that was probably because he had promised not to come and look for her. Is that why he never informed me? It might be because of that.

After some thought, Han Muzi unconsciously pulled out her phone and opened her WeChat. She found Ye Moxuan’s profile and clicked on it to send him a text. However, her fingers stopped in the end. Would sending a text message now make me look desperate?

After all, during this period, she had never taken the initiative.

At this juncture, Han Muzi let out a sigh and placed the phone back on the table before resuming her work.

A busy day had come to an end. When it was time to get off work, Han Muzi packed her things up to get ready to bring Little Bean home from school. Before she stepped out of the office door, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

Han Muzi frowned and then answered the phone. “Hello?”

“Mommy!”

“Little Bean?” After hearing Little Bean’s voice, Han Muzi became suspicious. “Whose phone are you using to make this call?”

“Mommy, this phone belongs to Mr. Ye.”

Mr. Ye? The word ‘Ye’ froze Han Muzi for a moment. Then, a bad feeling arose. “W-What do you mean? Who is… Mr. Ye?” A person automatically came to mind, and that gave Han Muzi the chills.

From the other end of the phone came a little noise—it seemed like the phone had been given to another person. Then, Han Muzi heard a familiar male voice, one that was soft but a little indifferent. “Muzi, it’s me.”

Ye Linhan! Han Muzi bit her lower lip and instantly went through the roof. “Ye Linhan, what are you doing? What do you want?” After finishing her question, Han Muzi did not hesitate and ran out right away.

Yan, who was not far behind her, saw that she was running so she yelled, “Muzi, where are you going? Wait for me.”

However, Han Muzi did not seem to have heard what she said. Feeling frustrated, Yan stomped away. Whatever, I’ll wait until this evening when she’s back at home to ask her about what happened. Right now, she had to head to Han Group… to see him!

At this moment, Han Muzi made it to the parking lot. She opened the car door and got into the car. After that, she proceeded to tell Ye Linhan on the phone, “Please cut to the chase. What do you want? Where is Little Bean?”

After a moment of silence, Han Muzi started to panic. “Ye Linhan, say something.”

Then, there came a sigh. “I was worried you would address me as Vice President Ye, but who knew that you would call me by my name this soon. It was nothing… I happened to pass by the school and saw the little guy standing at the entrance, so I decided to give him a ride home.”

“Home?” Han Muzi squinted.

“Mommy, Mr. Ye and I are at the bakery close to the ground floor of where we live.”

“I got it. I will be there right away. Don’t go anywhere, and if anything happens, please find the auntie in that bakery for help. She and Mommy are good friends; are you clear?”

The last part of the sentence was an implication—if Ye Linhan did anything to Little Bean, she would never forgive him. Han Muzi then hung up right away and turned her car around.

She had fortunately avoided the peak hour, and there were not that many cars on the road, so Han Muzi could speed up except when she had to wait at the traffic lights.

Throughout the whole car ride, Han Muzi felt uneasy; she would die to be transported instantly to where Little Bean was and take him into her arms—far away from Ye Linhan.

Ye Linhan… This man is becoming more and more unpredictable.

During the previous encounter at the store, he claimed that he lived nearby, and even told her to look into him if she did not believe him.

Look into what? If he had shown up in front of her deliberately, he would have taken care of everything that could be looked into. Even if she did look into it, she could probably only scratch the surface of it. Therefore, she would not even waste time looking into what Ye Linhan was doing these days.

She did not imagine that despite already putting in the effort to get closer to her and even reaching a collaboration with her company through his company, he would still want to get close to Little Bean. What exactly is he doing? What does he want?

Just like that, Han Muzi made it to the entrance of the bakery after thinking about all these things throughout the car ride. Without a second thought, she removed the car keys, slammed the door, and ran straight into the bakery.

Pushing the glass door open, Han Muzi screamed right away, “Little Bean!”

“Mommy, I am here.”

There were seats inside the bakery, and as Han Muzi looked toward the source of the voice, she saw Little Bean seated toward the deeper end of the store. There was a fruit cake in front of him, and he waved his tiny hands at her while some butter was smeared at the corners of his mouth.

Seeing Little Bean, Han Muzi’s heart started beating a little faster. She quickly went up to him.

“You’ve arrived?” A soft voice rang out at this moment.

Only then did Han Muzi realize that there was someone else next to Little Bean—Ye Linhan. Seeing Ye Linhan agitated Han Muzi. She almost couldn’t resist her anger, but being in front of Little Bean, she had to suppress her overflowing anger.

She ignored Ye Linhan and walked to Little Bean and sat down in front of him. She then took out a napkin and wiped the butter off the corners of his mouth with a gentle smile. “Is the fruit cake tasty?”

Little Bean nodded naively. “Yes, Mommy.”

“Good boy.” Han Muzi put out her hand and rubbed his head. She whispered, “So when will you finish eating it?”

“There is still a lot.”

Little Bean pointed at the fruit cake in front of him. Han Muzi took a glance and realized there was indeed a lot more. She turned her eyes back and whispered, “Bring the fruit cake to the car and eat it there; Mommy has some words to say to Mr. Ye. Is that okay?”

“Huh?” Little Bean blinked and asked naively, “What does Mommy want to say?”

Han Muzi pinched his cheek. “Mommy and Mr. Ye have some business cooperation, so it is something about our work. Even if you stay here, you won’t understand anything. So… please wait for Mommy in the car for two minutes, okay?”

Little Bean thought about it and nodded. “Okay, Mommy.”

After saying this, he stood up and took a deep bow at Ye Linhan. “Thank you, Mr. Ye, for sending me home and buying me fruit cake. I’m going now! I’ll wait for Mommy in the car.”
