Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 621

He was such a well-mannered and proper kid. Whoever saw him would naturally like him, and Ye Linhan was no exception. However, the moment this kid resembled his younger brother from a different mother, everything seemed to be different.

A wave of darkness swept under his glasses but dissipated quickly. Ye Linhan smiled gently and patted him on the head affectionately. “You’re welcome. Your mommy and I are old friends. Treating you to a cake is no big deal. If you’d like to, next time I can bring you to the theme park.”

“Sure, thank you, Mr. Ye. I will go now.” Little Bean held the fruit cake in his hands and quickly left the shop.

Han Muzi was a little worried. She stood up and watched him get in the car; she was only relieved when the car door was closed. When she was getting ready to leave, Ye Linhan’s voice came out from the back. “You really shouldn’t be this worried. I told you before that I don’t have any bad intentions toward you or the kid.”

Han Muzi remained silent. She froze for a moment then turned around and looked at Ye Linhan nonchalantly.

“So, Vice President Ye, do you also remember me saying that I do not want to be a sacrifice in the fight between you and Ye Moxuan?”

Hearing this, Ye Linhan frowned and looked somewhat helpless. “Is that what you think of me? Five years have passed. If I wanted to fight with him, I would have done it when we were back in the Ye residence. Why would I wait until now?”

“So what do you want now?” Han Muzi let out a dry laugh. “Last time, at the store, I could convince myself to believe that it was a coincidence, but what about now? You got off work, passed the school, saw Little Bean, and decided to bring him to this bakery for some fruit cake? Do you think that he is just an unguarded kid, and that you could buy him off?”

Seeing that he was about to say something, Han Muzi interrupted him. “Don’t rush into explaining. Things might be coincidental, but even then, they wouldn’t happen consecutively. Even if you were to set me up and use me, you should control your emotions and suppress your desires. Don’t do what you just did—showing up here and employing all kinds of methods to get close to me.”

Ye Linhan’s eyes deepened and he did not stop staring at her. “What about him?”

An unanticipated question caught Han Muzi off-guard.

“He also uses all kinds of tricks to come near you. Why have you never thought that he is hiding something? Meanwhile, I’ve only bumped into you a couple of times coincidentally and put up with the people from my company signing a contract with you. Why does that make me someone who uses you and sets you up? Muzi, you are way too biased.”

Han Muzi remained speechless.

“All because… you still love him?”

Han Muzi’s eyes widened. “Stop all this nonsense.”

Ye Linhan took a step forward, and the warm aura around him became somewhat overpowering. “Am I talking nonsense, or are you just afraid to admit it? Is it because you still like him? So no matter what he does to you, or whatever he employs to come near you, you will only think that he is just not giving up. You will never doubt him like how you doubt me, am I right?”

“I…”

“I told you before that I will not hurt you, much less that kid. Even if he is Moxuan’s kid, in my eyes, he is only your kid.”

“You…”

Ye Linhan took another step forward. “If I had any reason to approach you, it would only be because I like you.”

This unexpected confession put Han Muzi in shock.

Like… me? Five years had passed, and he still…

“Back then, you never said a thing before you left. Have you ever thought of how I felt? Even if you did not have any feelings for me back then, we still did spend some time together. Even if I could not be an elder brother to you, I should at least be considered a friend, shouldn’t I?”

Ye Linhan saw how she was withdrawing, so he decided to take another step forward. He was usually a gentle person, but at this moment, he had become domineering.

“If he can, why can’t I? If we were to debate this, I should be more qualified than him. After all, I have never done anything wrong to you.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by what Ye Linhan said. She had thought about millions of reasons why he came near her, but definitely not this one, and he even confessed this time around.

“I like you, and that’s why I want to get close to you. If that means I have to use some tricks, that wouldn’t be too much, would it?” After explaining these thoughts, the gentle look on Ye Linhan’s face had resurfaced. He simply stared at her apathetically. “That’s all. The time you promised with Little Bean is up. The kid is waiting for you in the car. Don’t let him wait too long.”

Han Muzi was still in shock. Why did the current Ye Linhan make her feel a little… sad?

“Go.” Ye Linhan held her shoulders softly and helped her walk out of the bakery while saying, “I am not an elder brother to you anymore, so I have the same fighting chance as Ye Moxuan. Although I did not have this chance five years ago, I’m going to do it for myself now. Until the day you and him end up together, I will continue putting in my best effort. So… don’t try to push me away with any other reasons anymore.”

Han Muzi simply let him walk her to the car, and he even opened the car door for her.

“Mommy?” The voice came from Little Bean, and it brought Han Muzi back to her senses. She turned around and took a look at Ye Linhan.

“Remember to fasten your seatbelt. Stay safe on the road.” He smiled gently and closed the car door. Then, he turned around and went back to the bakery to pay the check.

Han Muzi sat in the driver’s seat and was still in shock. Little Bean was still holding the cake and blinking, naively looking at her. “Mommy, what’s going on?”

Han Muzi regained her composure and shook her head. “Nothing. Let’s go home.”

“Okay.”

Han Muzi brought Little Bean home. When they were going up the elevator, she could not help but scold him, “I remember telling your teacher at school last time, and your teacher also promised me that they would not let any strangers come and get you. So, what happened today?” She looked at Little Bean. Her eyes were not as gentle as before; they had become stern.

“You went with Mr. Ye yourself, right?” That was because they met before.

Little Bean lifted his head and started looking guilty in the face of Han Muzi’s stern look. “M-Mommy…”

“Am I right?” Han Muzi’s voice also started to sound harsh. Now, she seemed like a strict and difficult mother.

“Mommy…” Little Bean was a little scared and did not dare to speak. His hands that were holding the cake were weighing down.

“Why?” Han Muzi looked at him helplessly. “Even if you have met him before, can’t you tell from what Mommy has done for you? Why did you go with him? Why did you get in his car? I can tell that you did it yourself and he did not force you.”

Little Bean kept his head down, afraid to respond. He silently took the scolding.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 622

“So, have you already forgotten everything that Mommy has taught you before?”

No matter how one saw it, Han Muzi was indeed slightly disappointed, even though Little Bean had already had his head down, and looked miserable—making it extremely difficult for one to reprimand him.

But Han Muzi knew deep within that if she did not teach him a lesson this time, she would not be able to establish any authority. Therefore, her speaking tone did not get softer just because he had put his head down; in fact, it became even harsher.

“What if something like this happens again next time and the person is a bad guy? You are just a five-year-old kid; if you are kidnapped by a bad guy, will you be able to fight back? If something bad happens, what should Mommy do?”

She had way better imagination and at the end of it, Han Muzi could even picture how Little Bean would look like if he got hurt. The thought of that made her tear up a little bit, and her voice was cracking.

The moment Little Bean, who had his head down, heard the sobbing in Han Muzi’s voice, he finally realized the severity of this matter. He lifted his head and saw that his mother’s eyes were completely red.

He immediately felt bad and his beady eyes betrayed a glimmer of panic. He quickly went up and grabbed Han Muzi’s hand. “Mommy, I know I’m wrong. Please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay?”

Seeing how nervous his face was made Han Muzi even more worried. This time around, she was truly upset.

While she was guarding him against Ye Moxuan, she also had to guard him against Ye Linhan.

But Little Bean just went out with Ye Linhan on his own accord. It wasn’t like she had never warned him beforehand, so she could not understand why he did not listen to her this time.

“Don’t grab my hand.” Han Muzi broke away from his grasp and ignored him.

After Little Bean’s hands were shaken off, he immediately pouted, feeling very aggrieved. At this point, the elevator sounded and the door opened. Han Muzi walked straight into it.

Little Bean could only try to quickly catch up to her. “Mommy, please don’t be mad anymore. I know I am wrong.”

Han Muzi bent over to put in the code, ignoring him directly. She pushed the door open, and even though she was already really upset, she still moved sideways to allow Little Bean to edge in. Little Bean could roughly understand what she was thinking, so he quickly edged in when she moved sideways.

Bam! After the security door was closed Han Muzi changed her shoes at the entrance. She later went into the living room and sat on the couch, without saying a word.

Seeing this, Little Bean knew that his actions had backfired. His mom rarely got mad at him, much less said any harsh words. However, she had been upset for such a long time today. It must be something really serious.

Little Bean felt extremely bad as he was mad at himself for jumping the gun. He marched in toward Han Muzi with his tiny legs and made a sudden turn halfway through, and instead walked in the direction of the kitchen.

Two minutes later, Little Bean came out with a glass of fruit juice in his hand. He brought the fruit juice to Han Muzi right away. “Mommy, have some fruit juice to calm down.”

Han Muzi sat there indifferently hugging her pillow. Not only did she not move an inch after hearing him speak, but she also did not throw him even a mere glance.

“Mommy, Mommy… please look at me. This is the fruit juice that I just prepared for you. Even if you don’t want to look at me, please take a look at the juice.” Little Bean was thick-skinned and did not feel dejected just because Han Muzi ignored him. Instead, he became even more pigheaded about sticking around in front of her. He leaned on her leg and constantly poked her with his soft little fingers.

Half of Han Muzi’s anger had already dissipated, but if she gave in after such a short while, wouldn’t this kid feel that she was only joking around and repeat his mistake in the future? No matter what, she was a mother, and as a mother, she was only trying to protect her child from anything that would hurt him.

At this point, Han Muzi let out a soft sigh and looked at Little Bean, who was leaning on her leg; she could not help but pinch his cheeks with her hand.

“Do you know how mad Mommy is?”

Little Bean immediately put up both his hands as a gesture of surrender and nodded vigorously. “Mommy, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gone with Mr. Ye just because of greediness. I promise you there won’t be the next time.”

He had that guilty look on him and Han Muzi could not bring herself to rebuke him again; she could only sigh.

“Mommy is concerned about your safety. What if it was a bad guy who came to pick you up?”

Little Bean earnestly looked at her and said, “Mommy, please relax. Even though I may not know how to discern between good and bad guys, I will never go with someone that you don’t know personally. Mommy, please stop being mad, okay?” While saying that, he was shaking Han Muzi’s arm. “Mommy, Mommy, stop being mad at me, okay?”

Han Muzi did not say anything, but it was apparent that she was no longer upset.

Little Bean quickly made up to her by handing her the fruit juice that he poured earlier. “Mommy, have some fruit juice.”

After sitting there for so long, Han Muzi finally reached out and accepted the juice.

“No more next time.”

“I promise there will not be a next time.”

Seeing that Han Muzi had drunk the fruit juice, Little Bean was finally at peace. Han Muzi’s willingness to talk with him and drink the fruit juice he poured indicated that she had forgiven him.

Just like that, the mother and son spent some time together on the couch, and suddenly, Little Bean had an idea. “Mommy, to make up for my mistake, I will cook dinner tonight.”

These words had slightly surprised Han Muzi. She looked at him. “You want to cook?” Would it be edible? Of course, she did not utter that last sentence, for she had never eaten any meals prepared by Little Bean.

“Of course, Mommy. I have been learning from Aunt Yan. I don’t know how it will taste yet, but would you like to try, Mommy?”

Han Muzi gave it a thought and eventually nodded. “Let’s… try then.”

“No problem, Mommy.” Little Bean quickly jumped down from the couch. “Mommy, please wait here and watch TV. I will go and make dinner for you.”

“Uh-huh.” Han Muzi nodded, thinking that perhaps Little Bean could not cook anything nice. At any rate… she could always bring Little Bean out for a meal later.

Ye Moxuan had told her that it had been quite safe lately and there was no need to worry about anything. That probably meant she did not have to worry about anything anymore, even if that meant going out at night. As she considered this, Han Muzi thought about another serious matter.

Little Bean is so short; he’d have to stand on a stool to cook. What if he falls? Han Muzi quickly became fidgety, and it did not take more than three seconds before she stood up and walked toward the kitchen.

“Little Bean, how about… you let Mommy do it?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 623

“It’s okay, Mommy.” Little Bean had used a great deal of effort to open the fridge door. He tiptoed to take the food out from within, then turned around to look at her and said, “Mommy, get some rest. Just give me fifteen minutes.”

“Fifteen minutes?” Han Muzi frowned and still walked in nonetheless. “What can you make in fifteen minutes?”

“Noodles, Mommy.”

Noodles… Han Muzi stayed silent for a moment and said, “Let Mommy help you.”

Little Bean thought about it and nodded. “Okay.”

Next, the mother and son duo worked together and cooked a pot of noodles. Even though it was supposedly a team effort, Han Muzi did not contribute much because she realized Little Bean possessed some skills. He did indeed pick up some skills from Yan.

He was skillful; apart from the fact that he was still slightly short and needed to stand on a stool, there were no other problems. After that, they scooped out two bowls of noodles and sat down at the dining table.

Han Muzi looked at the fragrant noodles and felt comforted right away. From him being a baby up until this point, he was suddenly able to cook a meal for his mother on his own. This was a wonderful feeling—a feeling that was hard to describe.

Little Bean took the lead in using the chopsticks to take a bite. He was too hasty and burned his lips as he brought the food to his mouth. He was surprised and quickly put the noodles back into his bowl.

“Be careful. Slow down.” Han Muzi could not help but look at him. She then took out a napkin to wipe off some soup droplets that were on the corner of his mouth. “It’s just the two of us; no one is snatching that from you.”

This made Little Bean blink embarrassingly. “Mommy, I did not do it on purpose; I just wanted to taste what I cooked.”

Han Muzi knew he did not do it on purpose as she had high expectations toward Little Bean since he was little. Moreover, it could be hereditary that Little Bean had always eaten slowly and with grace. He never needed much teaching when it came to table manners. He was born with a good character and nurtured by proper guidance.

“Mommy knows. Even if you cooked it yourself, there is no need to rush. Take it easy.”

“Uh-huh.”

Han Muzi had her first bite of the noodles and realized… that it was not bad at all. It could even be compared with Yan’s cooking. She looked at Little Bean with surprise. “You…”

“Mommy, is it good?”

Han Muzi nodded. She was slightly in awe that this was prepared by her son. “What special ingredients did you add into it?”

“Didn’t Mommy see everything earlier?”

That was true as Han Muzi had been with him in the kitchen the whole time. Little Bean did not add any special ingredients. It was simply because the cooking heat and taste were all right on point. At this point, Han Muzi flashed a comforting smile. “Our Little Bean has grown up.”

After the two had finished eating the noodles, Han Muzi did the dishes while Little Bean was told to go upstairs to take a shower. He willingly agreed.

After Han Muzi had finished cleaning, she went upstairs to prepare to take shower, but she realized she had not seen Yan so far. She was wondering how she was doing. I think she went to look for Han Qing after work. But why is she not back yet?

Initially, Han Muzi did not intend to bother her, but after some thought, she felt she should at least send her a text message to ask about her situation. Not long after the text message was sent, Yan responded. ‘Muzi, let me tell you: right now, it’s all or nothing. Please don’t bring me down.’

All or nothing? Reading this confused Han Muzi slightly. When she recalled that day when Yan said she wanted to drug Han Qing, she frowned uncontrollably. ‘You are not thinking of drugging my brother, are you?’

‘What are you talking about? Even if I wanted to, I would not be bold enough to do that. I am only here for a free meal. Ugh… that was embarrassing.’

Upon reading this, Han Muzi could almost imagine the crying face of Yan, and that made her chuckle. ‘No worries, people are meant to embarrass themselves.’

‘That’s an odd way to console someone!’

‘All the best!’ After cheering her on, Han Muzi stopped texting Yan. Instead, she stared blankly at Ye Moxuan’s picture on her phone. She wanted to give Ye Moxuan a call, but she was too embarrassed to do so. After all, she asked him to give her some space, yet now she was the one looking for him.

While pondering, Han Muzi could not resist any longer. She put the phone down, picked it up, and eventually she decided to give Ye Moxuan a call.

She did not know which country he was currently in, or where he had flown to for business. Is there a time difference?

The call went through, and that made Han Muzi slightly nervous.

When the call was answered, Han Muzi was so frightened that her hand was shaking, and as a result, her phone almost slipped out of her hand. The moment the unfamiliar voice of a lady came through from the other end of the phone, Han Muzi immediately steadied her hand.

“Hi there.”

It’s a she? Is this the wrong number? Han Muzi froze for a few seconds before she took her phone away and looked at the words on the screen. This is indeed Ye Moxuan’s number… But why is it a lady answering the phone?

Han Muzi bit her lower lip and began to feel worried. “Hi, I am looking for…”

“You are looking for Moxuan, right? He is busy right now.”

Moxuan? That lady was gentle, soft, and mellow. She sounded like the type who was especially beautiful and gentle.

Her lips moved, and before she could respond, another sentence came from the other side. “When he’s out from the shower, I will ask him to return your call.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She then responded with her face slightly frozen, “That won’t be necessary.” She hurriedly hung up the phone.

Her legs started to feel weak, so she leaned against the door behind her while her face turned pale.

All these years, she had been keeping an eye on him and she knew that apart from Xiao Su, he had no other assistants around him. Not to mention any female secretary. Furthermore, that lady called him Moxuan—gently and affectionately—so she was definitely not a secretary.

If she’s not a secretary, then… a woman who has such an intimate relationship with him, who else could she be? The answer… seemed self-explanatory.

Han Muzi clenched her fists tightly. Her fingertips had started to turn pale. A few moments later, she released her fists as if she was out of energy, and she smiled bitterly. “Oh Muzi, what are you… thinking? It has been five years. Do you still believe that he will preserve himself for you?”

At this point, Han Muzi became self-deprecating. She left the phone on the table and turned around to walk into the bathroom.

In the hotel of a foreign country, a gorgeous, mixed lady was sitting on the couch, legs crossed. When she heard the busy tone from the other end of the call, she smiled calmly, brought down the phone, and deleted the call record with her fair fingers. A woman who calls him at this time and then hurriedly hangs up the phone—she must be a woman who has a special interest in Ye Moxuan.

Ye Moxuan was someone whom she had her eyes on, so she was going to eradicate every woman who wanted to develop a relationship with him.

“What are you doing?” A stone-cold male voice came from behind. Before Duanmu Xue could react, the phone had already been grabbed by a tall, gorgeous man.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 624

After grabbing the phone, Ye Moxuan quickly checked it.

“What are you afraid of? I was just saving my number on your phone. Listen.” Duanmu Xue made a call and Ye Moxuan’s phone started to ring. “It was just saving a phone number. That is not too much, is it?

The next second, Ye Moxuan directly deleted the phone number from the incoming call on his phone. Seeing that, Duanmu Xue was a little confused. “What’s going on? It doesn’t hurt to have my number saved on your phone. You…” She stood up and started walking toward Ye Moxuan, who turned away from her with a cold look. He then yelled indifferently, “Get out!”

Embarrassment flashed across Duanmu Xue’s exquisite face. She was still trying hard to put on a smile. “Please don’t do this to me, Ye Moxuan. It took me quite some effort to get in here.”

Those words annoyed Ye Moxuan. “Give me the room key.”

Duanmu Xue shook her head. “If you save my phone number, I will return your room key and leave.”

Being threatened, a wave of fury and coldness emerged underneath Ye Moxuan’s black eyes. He let out a cold laugh. “I reckon the Duanmu Family no longer wants to collaborate.”

“This has nothing to do with my brother. It’s my issue that I like you. My brother… will continue to work with you. Moxuan, please don’t take it out on him.”

Ye Moxuan started to get upset. The next moment he walked to the bed, picked up a blanket and wrapped it around Duanmu Xue.

Before Duanmu Xue could react, she was already wrapped in a blanket. After this, she was thrown out of the hotel room together with the blanket.

Bam! It made a loud noise, and Duanmu Xue’s arm was bumped against the wall, which caused her to shout in pain.

The two servants standing at the room door quickly came up to her to help her out. “Miss Xue, are you okay?”

When Duanmu Xue stuck her head out from the blanket, Ye Moxuan had already heartlessly closed the door and locked it.

“Miss Xue?”

“Miss Xue, your arm is hurt.”

Duanmu Xue looked down and noticed that the arm that was bumped had a bruise on it. Her face quickly changed but she did not get upset. She gently rubbed the bruise and said, “What an unappreciative man.”

“Of course, Miss Xue, Ye Moxuan does not know how to appreciate you. Why don’t…”

At the end of that sentence, Duanmu Xue’s eyes were filled with displeasure. “‘Why don’t’ what? I dare you to make another useless suggestion. Also, don’t say anything to my brother; otherwise, he will find out that I have used him to get Ye Moxuan’s room key. At that point… I don’t know how he would punish me.”

Hearing this, the servants could only nod embarrassingly. “Understood, Miss Xue. So, what should we do now?”

“Hmph. As long as he has my number, I have achieved what I wanted.” Thinking about the number that Duanmu Xue had deleted earlier, she had this feeling that… she had declined an important call.

“Let’s just head back for today.” Duanmu Xue stood up and dusted herself off. Looking at the door in front of her, she muttered, “There will be plenty of chances in the future for us to see each other again.”

After closing the room door, Ye Moxuan searched through the phone, again and again. The appearance of Duanmu Xue had worried him a little.

At the moment, the room had an overpowering smell of her perfume all around. Ye Moxuan frowned and quickly opened all the windows. He then called room service to come, before getting some fresh air at the balcony.

The hotel was at a wonderful location—right in downtown of the city—and the balcony had the entire view of the city skyline.

How good it would be if someone was next to him. Ye Moxuan opened his WeChat application and pulled up the chat with Han Muzi. The last message was sent a long time ago as he had no recent conversations with her these past couple of days. The reason was…

Ye Moxuan knew well. It was because of what Mr. Potbelly unintentionally told him at the store the other day. At that time, Mr. Potbelly shared with him some of his past experiences. Ye Moxuan thought he did not need them, and he even told him off—asking him to stop talking.

However, Mr. Potbelly had again continued to ramble after that. He said that Ye Moxuan was holding on too tightly and that would only suffocate the other person and leave no room for her to personally consider things.

The best way was to give some space to her so that she would start feeling empty. After interacting for so long, should he suddenly disappear, she would start missing him.

Initially, Ye Moxuan did not seem to care about these words, but in the past couple of days, he had started to realize that what Mr. Potbelly said did kind of… make sense. Because he had been thinking of Muzi every day, and he almost went crazy.

But what about her? He had not appeared in front of her for so many days, did she miss him too? Looking at the empty call log, the answer seemed to be self-evident. Not a text on WeChat, nor a phone call. That woman… probably wishes I would never pester her again?

At this point, Ye Moxuan flashed a self-deprecating smile on his face. Oh, Ye Moxuan, who knew I could never employ these tricks on her. What was I even thinking?

She needed to be won over resolutely. He had to completely take over her so that she would never have an opportunity to think about another person.

Soon enough, room service came. According to Ye Moxuan’s requests, the cleaners disinfected every item in the hotel room and changed the linens and pillows. Since Ye Moxuan was their hotel’s VIP, all of his requests would be provided for by the hotel.

Han Muzi had lost sleep again. Waking up to two huge dark circles around her eyes, she stood in front of the mirror and saw how pale she looked. This made her want to slap herself in the face to wake herself up.

It was only a phone call; it was only a female voice. She had lost sleep because of this.

This was terrifying. After all, this indicated that she had started paying particular attention to Ye Moxuan’s behavior and the people around him.

At this point, Han Muzi seemed slightly deranged. She was vigorously pulling her hair and after messing with it she went back to being calm again. She then listlessly freshened up, put on her make-up, and got changed.

Forget it. He’s just another man, and I don’t lack admirers. Why do I need to start imagining things for the sake of this man? Since he did not preserve himself for her, she also did not need to stay single anymore.

Han Muzi headed downstairs and got ready to send Little Bean to school. Yet, she found that Little Bean was standing in front of the couch, curiously staring at the person lying on it. “Mommy, why is Aunt Yan sleeping here?”

Han Muzi was puzzled. She walked over and noticed that Yan was still wearing what she wore yesterday. She was sleeping soundly on the couch. What is going on?

Han Muzi moved forward and woke her up. “Yan?”

“I am so tired. Let me sleep for a little while more.” Yan turned around and immediately fell from the couch. Her eyes widened in pain, and then she saw Han Muzi and Little Bean standing there staring at her with curious eyes.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 625

Yan froze for a whole ten seconds before she quickly stood up and wiped the drool off the side of her mouth. “What are you guys doing standing here while watching me sleep, and so early in the morning at that? Are you trying to scare me to death?”

Han Muzi crossed her arms in disbelief. “Look at yourself. Why are you sleeping on the couch and not in your room?”

Little Bean nodded his head in agreement. “Yeah, Aunt Yan. Why are you sleeping on the couch? Did you come home really late last night?”

That caught Han Muzi’s suspicions and she narrowed her eyes. “You came home really late? How late?”

At that moment, Yan looked uneasy and did not dare to look at Han Muzi in the eyes.

“Last night…” She hesitated. “Last night, nothing happened at all!” Yan stood up and refuted with a flushed face. She then turned around and ran up the stairs as she said, “I’m exhausted. I’m going to take leave from work and sleep all day.”

She did not give Han Muzi time to respond and headed straight into her room. She then leaned against the door and panted. Her ears quickly turned red as she remembered what happened the night before. Biting her bottom lip, she took off her shoes and dove into the covers. Her memories started to return to her.

Last night, she had gone to Han Qing’s company and waited for him there. When he saw her, he had let her in his car without much thought.

Yan was on edge the whole time as they sat together in the backseat. She looked up occasionally at Han Qing who was next to her. He sat there expressionless but his side profile was breathtaking and his strong presence had made him more admiring to look at.

She realized the more she looked at him, the more she liked him. At the same time, she was also grateful for what Han Muzi had told her that day. If… Han Muzi had not told her to go see him if she wanted to, then she probably would not have gone to look for Han Qing in the first place. Then, she would not have had the opportunity to sit with him in his car.

At that instant, she coughed softly and asked in a small voice, “P-President Han, have you had dinner yet?” After she said that, she almost wanted to bite her tongue off. He had just gotten off work. What kind of stupid question is that?

She could not take back her words and there was no point crying over spilled milk. So she just waited bitterly for him to answer her question.

“No.”

To her surprise, he responded to her. However, he was a man of few words and did not say anything more.

She stole another glance at him and saw that his expression had not changed. She was disheartened. Ever since he rejected her feelings last time, his attitude toward her had gotten colder. He had told her not to place any expectations on him because he would never return her feelings. However, Yan could not control her feelings for him.

“Then… shall we eat dinner together?” She got nervous after she asked as she was afraid that he wouldn’t agree so she continued, “Of course, it’s my treat!”

He hesitated, then looked over at her with a calm expression.

Yan was so nervous that she had stopped breathing. She bit her bottom lip and glanced at him with her small pale face. “S-Shall we?”

His eyebrows knitted together at the sight of her trembling pink lips. What is with this woman? However, the desperation in her eyes made it hard for him to turn her away. Before he even realized it, he nodded his head.

At that moment, her eyes lit up like fireworks. She was both ecstatic and doubtful at the same time. “D-Did you just agree?” Unable to suppress her excitement, she looked at him with a look of joy and anxiousness as she asked this.

“Mm.” He nodded his head. It was just a meal. No big deal, he thought.

Yan was over the moon. He, too, noticed that after he agreed to her, her happiness seemed to have overflowed into the space inside the car.

Mr. Nan, who was driving in the front while eavesdropping on the whole conversation, slowly broke into a smile. Good, good. President Han has been alone for so many years. It would truly be wonderful if he had someone as passionate as this young lady by his side. Mr. Nan was overjoyed at the thought of it.

“That’s right! I didn’t get to ask you; what would you like to eat?” she asked nervously. Yan had been so elated that she forgot the most important part of their dinner.

“Since you’re treating, you can decide.”

Yan blinked. “I can’t disregard your preferences. I know of a Chinese restaurant that just opened recently. How about we go there?”

“Sure.”

After fifteen minutes, they arrived at the front of the restaurant. Since it was newly opened, it was packed with people. To provide Han Qing with a pleasant dining atmosphere, she asked for a small private cubicle. After that, both of them proceeded to order several dishes.

Once the waiter left the cubicle and it was just the both of them, Yan realized something serious. It was only the two of them in the cubicle. There was nobody else inside, which made it even more awkward.

That was her first time eating with her crush at the same table, in a small cubicle, and with nobody else. Nevertheless, she felt excited as she saw it as an opportunity.

Yan bit her bottom lip and fidgeted with her fingers under the table nervously. Now and then, she would look up at him, unsure of how to break the silence.

The silence inside the cubicle was suffocating and she would occasionally take peeks at him. As such, how could he not feel her gaze on him? He pursed his lips and, alas, looked up at her. “Do you remember what I said to you last time?”

“Huh?” She nervously looked up into his cold eyes. “W-What?”

“Did you forget all those things I said to you at the Han Residence last time?”

She paused. She realized what he was getting at, and nodded a few times as her face grew paler. “No, I didn’t forget. I remember everything.”

Are you sure you still remember? The expression on his face grew dark. He tapped his fingers lightly on the table as though he had been deep in thought while Yan sat across from him, afraid to even breathe loudly. Is he going to reject me again? She lowered her eyes and did not say another word.

“In that case, why did you ask me out?” he asked.

She was dumbfounded for a moment before lifting her head. “I… I…” Yan did not know how to convey that she just wanted to meet him, so she had plucked up the courage to ask him out, something which he had agreed to.

At that moment, the waiter returned. “Excuse me, miss. The spicy salted duck you ordered is no longer available. Would you like to try something else instead?”

“Oh, sure.” To Yan, the waiter turned out to be her savior in that dire situation. She looked through the menu that was given to her, then made her decision and ordered a bottle of white wine.

“I’ll have this instead.”

The waiter looked at her, slightly taken aback. “Miss?”

“It’s fine. Just give me that.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 626

The waiter did not say anything else and stepped out quietly with the menu in his hands.

It was silent in the cubicle once again. But the silence felt different, or perhaps her feelings had changed. While she was shy and nervous before, what he said had made her feel embarrassed and humiliated.

I just really like him, so I want to try harder. But… why won’t he even give me the chance to?

Han Qing had also felt the change in her presence. Both of them stayed in silence until the dishes arrived and were placed on their table one after the other.

When the waiter put the bottle of white wine on the table, Han Qing frowned and looked straight at Yan. “You’re drinking wine?”

She froze for a second before nodding her head, “Mm-hmm…”

He remembered her drunk appearance at the banquet last time and the crease between his eyebrows deepened, “You’re not allowed to.” His tone sounded commanding.

If it were not for what he had said earlier, she would have assumed he was looking out for her. However, now, it sounded slightly ridiculous to her. She retorted, “President Han, who are you to tell me that? Why does it matter to you whether I drink or not?”

Han Qing was speechless. This girl…

He took one look at her then pursed his lips. “Who’s going to take you home when you get drunk?”

Yan did not respond.

She glared at him for a while before she looked down in defeat, a bitter smile on her face. “Don’t worry. I’ll call a friend to come get me. You may leave once you’re done eating.”

I was just overthinking. He doesn’t want me to drink because he just doesn’t want to be bothered with sending me home later when I get drunk. What was I expecting? Suddenly, she felt like she had thrown her dignity away for inviting him to dinner that day.

The cubicle returned to its silent state. Yan poured herself a large glass of wine then drank almost half of it before even having her first bite.

He paused as he watched her reckless behavior and thought of stopping her. But when he remembered what she had said earlier, he realized that she was right. He was no one to her, so he did not have the right to decide whether she drank or not.

He remained silent but did not move his chopsticks either.

Across the table, Yan had not paid attention to him and proceeded to lift her chopsticks to eat after she downed the half-glass of wine. A while later, she realized he had just been sitting there and staring at her with his black eyes.

She was dumbfounded. Then, she quickly grabbed a piece of tissue paper to wipe the corners of her mouth and with a big smile on her face, she said, “President Han. Hurry up and eat your food. You can’t get full just by watching me eat. Come now.”

Yan forced a cheerful expression and encouraged him to eat before continuing herself.

She did not know how much she had drunk throughout the dinner, but she felt sick as her head got dizzier and her stomach felt bloated.

When she looked up, her vision was no longer clear. She only saw the blurry figure of a person and tried to focus her eyes, then said, “I-I’m going to wash my face.” After that, she stood up and stumbled on her way out.

He watched her stumble. Unable to resist any longer, he reached out and grabbed her wrist.

“If you can’t drink, then don’t drink. Why do you always have to be so troublesome? Do you feel like you’re achieving something by making me clean up after you?”

The overbearing voice of a man resonated from above her. Yan was not completely drunk, so she knew who that voice belonged to. In an instant, she swung off his hand. “You don’t have to care.”

“Do you think I want to care?” He grabbed her wrist again. “If I hadn’t come in here with you, I wouldn’t even be bothered.”

She shouted back at him angrily, “Then don’t bother with me! I already told you. I’ll call my friend to come and get me if I’m drunk. Why are you still here? Just leave.”

She pushed him away, and he moved a few steps forward unexpectedly.

Han Qing was getting irritated. He walked right up to her and said coldly, “What friend? Get out now. I’m taking you home.”

“No!” She glared at him. “Don’t stay with me. I’m drunk. If you keep lingering around me, I can’t guarantee that I won’t do anything to you.” Then, she glanced at his lips and licked her own nervously.

He was speechless. He felt his head ache as he looked at the pigheaded young woman in front of him, who only stood up to the level of his chest, and was at a loss for what to do with her.

“That’s enough. I’ll send you home first, then you can decide if you want to be crazy after that.”

He decided that he would just carry her out if she still refused. But as he was about to bend down and pick her up, she stepped closer to him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.

When their lips locked, Han Qing froze. He was not expecting to get ambushed with a kiss like that.

Yan kissed him roughly, then said in a fury, “I told you if you come close to me, I will violate you. Are you still not leaving?”

He touched his lips and looked at her with a look of indifference. “Now that you’re done kissing me, can we leave?”

She blinked her eyes. “Of course not. I haven’t done anything to you yet!”

She mustered her courage and went in for another kiss. Frowning, he turned to avoid her and her lips landed on his throat instead.

It was said that the most sensitive part of a man’s body was his neck. She wanted to test that saying out for herself that day. After all, she had already thrown all her dignity away in front of him, so she had nothing more to lose.

When she nibbled at his neck, she heard a muffled sigh—as expected. The hand that was holding onto her arm also quivered slightly.

Did it work? Yan was ecstatic and went on to graze over his neck with her tongue. His whole body trembled before he pushed her away.

She looked up to see that his ears had turned red. Without another thought, she jumped up at him—arms around his neck and legs wrapped around his waist.

“No matter what you say, I still like you. I remember everything you told me last time, but so what? I also said that since I never actually confessed to you, your rejection doesn’t count—not one bit.”

She looked like a determined lunatic. After that, she started kissing all over his face. He was able to avoid her when she had only kissed his mouth, but now, her bizarre behavior had left him defenseless.

Right at that moment, the waiter arrived with something at the door. His face turned red when he saw both of them and he quickly backed out again.

It took Han Qing a lot of strength to finally pull her off of him and place her on the couch. He then said coldly, “Shouldn’t you have some dignity as a woman? Kissing and hugging a guy like this—is this your style?”

Yan remained silent.

“Did you think you could seduce me if you provoked me like this a few more times?”

“No!” Her eyes turned red. Then, she stood up and yelled, “I’ve never thought about it that way! I’m not that brazen, either. All I wanted to do was meet you; that was the only thought I had.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 627

After she recalled the whole event, Yan covered her face with her hands and tears started to fall through the cracks between her fingers.

In the end, Han Qing had sent her home and warned her against acting up in the future or he would make sure she never saw Muzi again.

Yan had just thought that he might not have liked her, but she did not think that he would hate her. Did her actions come off as desperate? Did it seem like she did not have any self-esteem?

But… besides him, she had never kissed a guy first before.

Was it over just like that? She could not accept it at all.

Han Muzi was out of it at work that day. Due to the lack of proper sleep she had the night before, she found herself constantly nodding off while working. The two full cups of coffee she had did not have any effect on her, either.

Right when she was about to go take a nap in the lounge for two hours because she could barely stay awake any longer, Leng Yueyue came in through the door. “Muzi, someone from Blue Sky Company is here to see you—to discuss an issue at work.”

Normally, Yan was in charge of handling those matters, but she had taken the day off.

Han Muzi put down the pen in her hand and nodded. “I got it. Escort him to the reception room first. I’ll be there in two minutes.”

“Okay.” Leng Yueyue was an excellent assistant. Aside from doing designs, she also did Yan’s work from time to time. Han Muzi had gone from seeing her as an arrogant woman to acknowledging her skills as an adept designer.

Han Muzi tidied up a bit, then got up and headed to the reception room. After she arrived at the reception room, she hesitated when she realized who it was inside. It was Ye Linhan.

Suddenly, she remembered all the things he had said to her when they met at the bakery the day before.

If I had any reason to approach you, it would only be because I like you.

I am not an older brother to you anymore, so I have the same fighting chance as Ye Moxuan. Although I did not have this chance five years ago, I’m going to do it for myself now. Until the day you and he end up together, I will continue putting in my best effort.

“Muzi? You’re here.”

While she was deep in thought, a delicate and mellow voice came from inside. She pulled her focus back and saw that he had stood up and was smiling at her.

Not too far away from him, Leng Yueyue looked perplexed.

Han Muzi knew what she was perplexed about. She smiled and took relaxed and open strides into the room. “Yueyue, you should get back to work.”

“Will do.” She took one last look at Ye Linhan then turned to leave.

Both of them were left alone inside the reception room. Then, she sat down in front of him. “What business do you have to discuss with me, Vice President Ye?”

“Can I only come to see you if there is a business to discuss?” He looked at her with his sharp black eyes.

She was taken aback. “You…”

“I am using work as an excuse for personal matters. Am I crossing the line?” He let out a small smile. “There is nothing work-related to discuss because I trust in your abilities.”

“So you didn’t come here for work-related issues today?” She looked up at him and frowned.

“You don’t look too good. Do you want to go out and relax for a bit?”

Without hesitation, she rejected him. “There’s no need to. If there is nothing more to discuss here, then please leave.” She immediately got up and prepared to walk out. She had no intention of giving in to him. If he got mad at her over this, then that would have been even better.

He stood up as she did and followed after her. “Do you hate me so much that you can’t even spare two minutes?”

She paused briefly and frowned at him. “Vice President Ye, we’re at work right now. Yet, you want to have a personal conversation with me in the reception room. How would that help me take the lead in the company?”

He chuckled as though he had understood the point she was getting at. “So you’re saying it’s fine as long as it’s not during work hours?”

She was speechless. Oh no. She had unintentionally let him find the loophole in her words. “I…”

“Don’t worry about me.” He lifted his wrist and glanced at the time on his watch. “There’s an hour left until we get off work. May I have the honor of inviting you to have lunch with me? You don’t have to concern yourself with me for the next hour. I’ll wait for you here, so come look for me once you get off work. How does that sound?” He already had it all planned out, and was even willing to wait for her.

“Vice Present Ye, you—”

“Earlier you said you didn’t want to talk about personal matters during work hours, so having a meal together after work wouldn’t be crossing the line now, would it? Unless what you said—”

“Then just wait for me here.” She cut him off. “I’m going back to work.”

“Okay, go ahead.” His gaze softened. When he raised his hand to caress her head, her expression changed and she quickly stepped away and hurriedly left the room.

After she was gone, the gentleness in his face slowly disappeared and was replaced by a cold look. He looked at his watch and searched for a place to sit down. Moxuan, let’s see who gets her first. This time, I will not lose to you.

She returned to her office with a heavy heart. She wanted to reject him so badly, but he had twisted her own words. If she had rejected him, then it would seem like she was petty. Sigh. Whatever, it’s just a meal.

In truth, she had been weighed down by his words from the day before. But at least, his goal was more comforting than what she thought.

However, that did not mean that she trusted him completely. Who knew what hidden intentions and plans he had? The two brothers were at odds with each other, and it was completely normal that he wanted to win against Ye Moxuan.

At the thought of Ye Moxuan, she remembered the phone call she had last night. She took a look at her phone but it was still quiet. He had not returned her call from last night. Was he still with her? Did he die in her arms?

A scene flashed across her mind and she clenched her jaw in anger. Jerk. No wonder he left the country so suddenly without any notice. Turns out he had gone to meet another woman.

Wait. She calmed down. Did I just say ‘another woman’? Han Muzi was not in a relationship with him, and she had even rejected him as her husband. All this time, Ye Moxuan had chased after her as a bachelor. Then, he could be with anyone he pleased, right?

She pinched the bridge of her nose. I must have been provoked by him too often lately to have these misguided thoughts.

Alas, she decided she did not want to be agitated because of him anymore. He did not value her anyway. She was going to show him that he was not the only one for her.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 628

Finally, office hours were over. It was time to get off work.

Han Muzi had just finished packing up. Just as she was getting ready to head to the dining hall downstairs, she saw a man with a smile standing at the door. “Getting off work?”

Seeing Ye Linhan reminded her of her date with him for lunch. She looked at him awkwardly, which was probably due to her imagining things, as she seemed to have forgotten Ye Linhan’s lunch invitation.

“Yes.” Han Muzi nodded.

Ye Linhan spontaneously turned around and walked out. After a few steps, he did not see her, so he turned his head and looked at her. “Why aren’t you moving?”

“Oh.” Han Muzi came back to her senses and quickly caught up to him.

When entering the elevator, they went in one after another. Han Muzi and Ye Linhan were maintaining a good distance between each other. Even when they were walking around downstairs, one would be following the other.

Ye Linhan had not said anything in particular. As a gentleman, he opened the car door for her, and she hesitated before asking, “Are we going somewhere far? There should be restaurants nearby, why don’t… we just eat somewhere nearby?”

Hearing this, Ye Linhan had a gentle smile on his lips as he whispered, “Even though lunch is not as important as breakfast, we still cannot take it lightly. You have lost considerable weight in the past five years—have you not been eating well?”

Han Muzi remained silent.

“Let’s go. I have already made a reservation; it will be a shame if we don’t go.”

Since he had already made it so clear—which was apparently to give her pressure—did she have a reason to not get in the car?

After she got in the car, Ye Linhan was about to bend over to help her fasten her seatbelt but Han Muzi’s face changed a bit. She uttered quickly, “Let me do it myself.”

Ye Linhan did not insist and instead smiled. “Sure.” He walked over to the other side and got into the driver’s seat.

Sitting in Ye Linhan’s car, Han Muzi felt conflicted, for Ye Linhan had been trying to engage in some conversations with her that were appropriate.

Han Muzi looked at the clock and couldn’t help but ask, “Is it still a long way to go?”

Ye Linhan did not respond. He then made a turn and remarked, “We are here.”

Han Muzi gazed blankly into the distance for a moment before she came to her senses.

“I will drive the car to the parking lot. The air quality there is not the best, so why don’t you get down first and wait for me inside?”

“Sure.” Han Muzi agreed, got out of the car, and went into the restaurant to wait for him.

After around three minutes, Ye Linhan came back with a set of car keys in his hand. “Let’s go in.”

Ye Linhan seemed to be a regular patron here. The moment he brought Han Muzi into the restaurant, a waitress immediately came up and led them in. As the two of them were following the waitress from behind, Han Muzi subconsciously tried to maintain a distance from Ye Linhan, but he would always slow down his pace to match hers, and this made Han Muzi feel embarrassed. Ultimately, she decided to just walk at a normal pace.

Upon entering the private room, Ye Linhan smiled and asked, “All these years that you’ve been abroad, you’ve just been eating western food, haven’t you? Bringing you to have Chinese food all of a sudden, would you be unaccustomed to it?”

Hearing that, Han Muzi shook her head. “No, I actually ate a lot of Chinese food.”

“That seems about right.” Ye Linhan chuckled. “You prefer Chinese food and don’t really like Western food.”

Han Muzi looked at him and did not respond.

The waitress said, with a smiley face, “This is the first time Mr. Han brought a girlfriend.”

Ye Linhan smiled and did not deny it. It was Han Muzi who frowned and looked at the waitress somewhat unhappily. “Sorry, I am not his girlfriend.”

The waitress was in shock and looked at Ye Linhan awkwardly.

Ye Linhan was not upset. He looked at Han Muzi gently and explained, “Not my girlfriend, yet.”

This simple sentence mysteriously resolved the awkwardness between the waitress and Han Muzi.

“I am truly sorry. What would you like to have?”

Han Muzi sat down and thought about what Ye Linhan had just said. He had talked about fair competition yesterday. Was he serious about that? Is he starting to court me? Otherwise, why would he come to the office to take me out for lunch all of a sudden?

Han Muzi ordered something without much thought and passed the menu to Ye Linhan.

Contrary to her, Ye Linhan did put in a lot of thought when he was ordering. He ordered several dishes and even gave the waitress a couple of instructions when handing the menu over.

“No problem. Mr. Ye and Miss, please wait for a moment.”

After the waitress had left, Ye Linhan stood up and poured some tea for Han Muzi while saying, “I always came to this restaurant in the past, but I always came by myself. This is the first time I am bringing a lady so that made her misunderstand.

Is he trying to explain to me? Han Muzi shook her head. “Don’t worry about it. I already made myself clear.”

Ye Linhan looked at her and kept quiet for a while before saying, “You don’t have to rush into denying and explaining it.”

“What do you mean?” Han Muzi looked at him, befuddled.

“That is because I am officially courting you. Even though you may not be my girlfriend now, eventually, you might be.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. How did this determination, that’s only found in Ye Moxuan, find its way to Ye Linhan? He looked very gentle in his eyes, but what he just said sounded so self-absorbed.

At this point, Han Muzi smiled with her red lips. “Really? Are you that confident I will be with you?”

“It’s not that I am confident, it’s just that I am courting you whole-heartedly now. I want to protect you, Muzi.”

Han Muzi did not know how to respond. Initially, she thought he was self-absorbed, but what he just said in his defense left her at a loss for words. She looked down at the silverware in front of her and didn’t continue.

“If we start seeing each other, I will not let you get hurt. Be it you or Little Bean, I will treat you both to the best of my capabilities.”

Han Muzi looked up and locked her eyes on him. “You know that Little Bean is Moxuan’s child. Why would you…”

“I don’t mind.” Ye Linhan moved his hands slightly and poured himself some tea. He then took a sip of it, classily.

“I didn’t mind five years ago; do you think I will still mind five years later? I only care about you, and you alone.”

“But I don’t.” Han Muzi interrupted him. “I don’t care about anyone but my child.”

Ye Linhan paused and tentatively asked, “Are you afraid that I will not be nice to him?”

Han Muzi did not respond, but she had always felt that who in this world would not want to have their own children? Who would raise a child for others? Furthermore, the grudges between Ye Linhan and Ye Moxuan could not be easily resolved.

At this juncture, Han Muzi shook her head. “That is not what I meant. What I meant was—”

“That’s enough. It’s lunchtime; let’s not discuss this issue now. How I’ll treat you is something that you will find out in the future. Sincerity requires time to be proven and tested. From now on… I will have ample time for you to test my sincerity.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 629

Ye Linhan had once again retreated in order to advance. This had left Han Muzi speechless. He avoided the topic of courting her like he was afraid of being contaminated by that sensitive topic. Instead, he started asking her about her design career.

It was undeniable that Ye Linhan was indeed a talkative man with high EQ. He simply knew what he should say more of and what he should avoid saying.

Being with this kind of person would be quite comfortable because he would be looking out for her all the time—whether it was during courtship or while living together after marriage. However, it was a shame that Han Muzi did not have the same feelings for him. No matter how easy their days might be, life would still be boring and dull.

She was dying to tell Ye Linhan to stop wasting his energy because there was no chance between the two of them. However, looking at how he was treating her right now, she felt that whatever she said, he would still not give up. At this juncture, Han Muzi’s gaze was down and she gently let out a sigh in her heart. Back then, which part of me attracted him, causing him to miss me for such a long time?

Shortly after Han Muzi and Ye LinHan left, a black Mercedes was parked at the entrance of the office building.

Xiao Su caught a glimpse of Ye Moxuan in the back seat through the rear mirror. “Young Master Ye, are you not going home to rest?”

Ye Moxuan looked up. Though the skin that surrounded his sharp eyes looked to be full of vigor, it still could not conceal his gorgeous look.

“What nonsense!” Ye Moxuan yelled indifferently. He thought that since he had not seen that lady for such a long time, he had decided to strike an unexpected visit to give her a surprise. They had been playing this game for so many days. What would her response be when she sees me?

Xiao Su helplessly kept quiet. Xiao Su had to purchase air tickets for him to fly home all of a sudden during midnight as he shortened his trip. The moment he touched down, he headed straight to Young Lady Shen’s office. Women. Are they so attractive?

At this juncture, Xiao Su immediately thought of a lady’s face and his thoughts began to wander. He wondered if she was still mad at him.

As Ye Moxuan entered the elevator, he ran into Leng Yueyue, who was about to head out to get something.

When Leng Yueyue saw Han Muzi and Ye Linhan head out together, she did not feel too good as, in her eyes, she always felt that Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan were meant to be together. After all, she had witnessed everything that took place before. However, there was the sudden appearance of Vice President Ye from the Blue Sky Company, and she noticed the blatant affection in Han Muzi’s eyes for him—the head-over-heels sort. And now, Ye Moxuan had suddenly appeared in the office. He was probably here to find Han Muzi.

Seeing that Ye Moxuan was about to take the elevator, Leng Yueyue couldn’t help but shout, “P-President Ye!”

Ye Moxuan took a cold glance at her and noticed that she was one of the employees of this company, so he asked, “Is there anything?”

“Yes!” Leng Yueyue nodded subconsciously and nervously clamped her jaw. “President Ye, are you here to find Muzi? S-She is not in the office.”

Not in the office? Ye Moxuan was surprised to hear this. Finally, his glance had formally fallen on Leng Yueyue. His eyes were indifferent and cold, and they gave Leng Yueyue the chills. “Can you please tell me where she went?”

Leng Yueyue shook her head. “To be honest… I am not clear either. But I am sure she is out for a meeting.”

Meeting? Such bad timing Ye Moxuan pressed his lips into a thin line and pondered for a moment without saying anything.

“Why don’t… you wait for her in the office? I reckon she will be back soon.”

Wait for her? Ye Moxuan felt a little hurt. He stayed up the entire night without getting much sleep just so that he could be back in time to see her. Wouldn’t it be a shame if he were to leave without seeing her?

“Uh-huh.” Ye Moxuan agreed with a deep voice, and then Leng Yueyue pushed the button in the elevator for him.

On the other side, Ye Linhan and Han Muzi were talking while the dishes were all on the table. Ye Linhan took special care of her by serving her the dishes. Han Muzi could only bite her lip and say, “I can’t eat so much. You can just help yourself.”

“Why are you in such a rush? If I am not mistaken, there is still a long time before you have to get back to work.”

“I know.” Han Muzi nodded. “But do you see my eye bags? I did not sleep well last night, so I was thinking of heading back to get some sleep,” she immediately responded.

Ye Linhan was taken aback before he started smiling again. “That’s my oversight then, since having lunch with you is all that I wanted. If that’s the case, if you are almost done eating, I can give you a ride back to get some rest.”

Han Muzi thought about it and said, “This meal is on me, and there is no need to give me a ride. I can get myself back.”

She took a napkin and wiped her mouth, only to realize that her red lipstick was all over it. Thinking that her lipstick might be completely gone, she asked, “You may leave first, Vice President Ye. I need to use the bathroom.” With that, Han Muzi went to the bathroom and took out her lipstick and foundation after washing her hands to earnestly fix her makeup.

For things like makeup, it’s either you put it on properly or not at all. Especially with bright colored lipsticks, the residue left on one’s lips after a meal would be uneven and horrible.

After Han Muzi had fixed her makeup and was planning to pay the check at the counter, she was surprised to see that Ye Linhan was still there waiting for her. “Why are you…”

Hearing her voice, Ye Linhan turned around and noticed that she had fixed her makeup. The color of her lips was similar to the color of berries. She had probably just finished applying it and thus her lips looked vivid and seductive. They looked like the berries on the tree that had already ripened to a certain extent.

After a few moments of looking at them, Ye Linhan’s eyes darkened. Shortly after, he could not help but reach out and caress her hair gently with his hand. “Silly, how could I leave and abandon you here?”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She did not expect Ye Linhan to suddenly be patting her head in public, so she was not able to evade it in time. Before she could react, Ye Linhan had already retracted his hand.

“Let’s go. Aren’t you feeling tired? Let’s bring you back to rest.” Seeing how she just stood there, Ye Linhan moved toward her and was about to take her by her hand.

As a reflex, Han Muzi took a step back to avoid Ye Linhan’s touch. “I-I can walk by myself.” She then walked out of the restaurant frantically.

Ye Linhan looked at her slim back for around two seconds before he followed suit.

On the way back, it was quiet. Han Muzi’s eyes were close the whole time and she looked exhausted. As such, Ye Linhan considerately refrained from talking to her.

When they were almost at the office, Ye Linhan suddenly saw the car that was parked at the entrance of the office building. The familiar car license plate number made him squint, and naturally, the car slowed down.

Business trip? Why is he back so soon? Didn’t they say that, according to his schedule, he would only be back by tomorrow?

Han Muzi was not sleeping; she was merely closing her eyes and pretending to rest. That was because it would be way too awkward to keep her eyes open, though she was not able to fall asleep in Ye Linhan’s car. Seeing that the office building was just around the corner, Han Muzi packed up and got ready to get out of the car.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 630

Ye Linhan also turned off his car engine and unexpectedly got out of the car at the same time as her.

Han Muzi was confused. “President Han?”

“Let me send you up.” Ye Linhan gave a small smile. “You don’t look too well and I don’t feel safe to let you go up alone.”

Han Muzi remained quiet.

She pinched her cheek because she did not believe that she looked that bad.

This movement of hers was cute in his eyes. She was already a mother and yet her actions and behavior were sometimes done without prior thought.

He debated on whether he should reach out toward her, but he decided against doing so after some thought.

“Come on, I’ll send you up.”

Just as he was about to take a step forward, they were greeted by someone who hurriedly ran out.

It was Leng Yueyue. She reached Han Muzi’s side in a few steps and spoke, “Muzi, you’re finally back. I have something to discuss with you.”

“What is it?”

Leng Yueyue shot Ye Linhan a glance and Han Muzi got the hint. She turned toward him and said, “President Han, thank you for your hospitality. Please allow me to return the favour when the opportunity arises.”

Since Leng Yueyue was already there, he did not say anything more about sending her up and only gave a small smile. “Okay then, I’ll keep that in mind. You could always return the favor now. How about I pick you up tonight and Han Yishu on the way?”

Han Muzi’s expression slightly changed. “There is no need. Today, I…”

“It’s decided then. I will pick you up after work.”

He did not give her the chance to refuse and left after speaking to her.

After he left, Han Muzi watched him leave with a headache and turned to Leng Yueyue. “Why were you looking for me?”

Leng Yueyue shook her head. “It wasn’t me looking for you. It was Young Master Ye.”

“What?”

Young Master Ye? Was she referring to Ye Moxuan?

With a light cough, Leng Yueyue asked awkwardly as they both watched his car leave. “Muzi, what’s your relationship with him? Are you dating him?”

Han Muzi furrowed her eyebrows, but before she could reply, Leng Yueyue spoke again, “Oh my, now’s not the time to talk about this as it isn’t important. I think you better head upstairs and get back to the office; Young Master Ye is waiting for you in your office.”

Leng Yueyue pushed her into an elevator as she said this.

“Wait. When you said Young Master Ye, are you referring to…?”

Was he not on a business trip? Why did he suddenly return and why was he in her office?

Why would someone who left without a word come running back here?

“Are there any other Young Master Ye?” she asked, looking at Han Muzi. “He has been waiting for you for a long time. I think about an hour.”

An hour?

Could he have arrived when she headed out with Ye Linhan?

“I’ll head on then!”

When the elevator doors opened, she returned to the floor where she was stationed. The elevator continued to rise to its intended floors.

After she got out of the elevator, Han Muzi stepped toward her office.

It was her own office, but Han Muzi struggled to breathe. She stood outside the door to her office in a daze and did not push open the door.

After standing there for what seemed like an eternity, Han Muzi finally sighed and reached out to open the door.

She thought that Ye Moxuan would be sitting at her desk with a cold look in his eyes. When she opened the door, the office was unexpectedly empty.

Han Muzi froze for a moment before she walked in.

Why was the office empty when he should have been here?

It was possible that Leng Yueyue lied to her, but what would she have gained from doing so? She walked in, feeling confused, and was about to close the office door when a figure suddenly appeared before her. Before Han Muzi was able to react, both of her hands were caught and pressed against the wall.

“Aah… mph.” Han Muzi wanted to scream for help when the person in front of her leaned down and pressed against her, sealing her lips in a rough kiss.

The familiar breath strongly enveloped her. Han Muzi opened her eyes wide, staring at the handsome face inches away from her own.

Ye Moxuan…

There was no one in the office earlier, so where did he come from?

Han Muzi was not in her right of frame to think about this with him passionately kissing her, demanding that she shower him with all of her attention. She craved to push him away from her, but he strongly resisted it.

Just as she thought that she was about to pass out from the lack of oxygen, he finally let her go and gasped against her forehead.

She sucked in fresh air like someone who was hungry. As her legs had turned into jelly from the kiss he stole, she only reached out and grabbed onto his shirt collar, leaning against him weakly.

“Did you miss me?”

He opened his mouth and with his voice low and deep, it captivated her.

Han Muzi opened her mouth, but he could not help himself but lower his head and kiss her on the corner of her lips. The kiss moved up gradually and landed on her nose before finally on the top of her eyes.

Han Muzi closed her eyes at his actions.

Something cooling touched her neck, as if there was something extra on her neck. At the same time, his lips moved from her eyes to the base of her ears.

The cooling sensation on her neck made her uncomfortable. Han Muzi, thinking of something suspicious, reached out a hand and touched a chain.

As she lowered her head, she saw a diamond pendant.

“You…”

Han Muzi lifted her head and unknowingly stared into his eyes.

“Do you like it?” Ye Moxuan’s thin lips curved into a smile. He closed his eyes, rubbing against her forehead with his warm breath against her face.

He grumbled under his breath almost immediately. “I specially selected it for you. Because of rushing back to see you, I have not slept in two days.”

Han Muzi was speechless.

Ye Moxuan, however, leaned on her shoulder and closed his eyes.

Han Muzi asked, “What are you doing?”

He was out of his mind if he planned to sleep on her shoulder while standing. She tried to push him, but he grabbed her waist and rubbed his face against her neck as he whispered, “Don’t move, let me stay like this for a while.”

The air was permeated by his masculine scent in the little space behind the door. She suddenly remembered the phone call from yesterday night after being embraced by him like that.

She blinked and moved her head slowly to smell his shirt.

His shirt was clean with the only scent in the air belonging to him.

Han Muzi refused to believe it and sniffed again, but all she smelt was his scent.

Something was not right at all. That girl had answered his phone for him and even said that he was in the shower. This meant that the two of them were in the same room, so how could he not bear the remnants of fragrances on him?

Was it possible that he changed his shirt before he came over?

While she thought to herself, a low chuckle came from her neck. “What are you sniffing?”

Han Muzi paused and hesitatingly met a pair of amused eyes.

He held her waist tightly and spoke with satisfaction dripping from his voice, “Do you know what you resemble right now?”

What did she resemble?
