Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 681
This might be the first time they reached an agreement in heart and spirit.
Han Muzi thought that even though she did not know what would happen in the future, this feeling felt right for two people who were together.
Han Muzi closed her eyes and both of her hands were around Ye Moxuan’s neck. However, he pulled them down and held her with their fingers intertwined.
Time passed gradually, and Han Muzi felt that she was losing her mind; she felt weak as she leaned against his chest. All of a sudden, a pang of coldness was felt between their fingers.
Han Muzi froze as she felt the increasing chilliness between their fingers. She quickly realized something and pushed Ye Moxuan away while she looked down. She noticed he was holding a diamond ring and pushing it up her finger.
“You…” What is going on? Han Muzi looked at the half-worn diamond ring and was startled while she muttered this question.
After Ye Moxuan had been pushed away, he simply held her wrist with his other hand. His movements were soft and gentle, and he continued carefully putting the diamond ring on. The diamond ring shone glaringly as it was profiled against the moonlight and bright lights.
“W-When did you buy this?” Han Muzi stared at the diamond ring on her hand and could not help but ask.
“Do you like it?” Ye Moxuan did not answer her question but held her hand and landed a gentle kiss on the corner of her mouth.
Han Muzi did not indicate if she liked it or not. Instead, she merely looked at his eyes and asked, “When did you buy this?”
Ye Moxuan let out a low laugh. “Why do you ask? Do you not like it?”
Han Muzi shook her head. She was not dissatisfied; she just wanted to know when he bought this diamond ring. However, looking at Ye Moxuan right now, it felt that he did not seem to want to disclose this information. Moreover, the significance of him giving a diamond ring…
“Why would you… suddenly give me a diamond ring? I…”
Ye Moxuan leaned over and held her chin with his hand. His voice was coarse. “This is a proposal. Don’t you understand?”
Hearing this, Han Muzi felt embarrassed and uncontrollably bit her lip. Needless to say, she understood the significance of this diamond ring, but… was he doing this too carelessly? What about all the other ceremonies?
However, Ye Moxuan did not allow her to respond. He lowered his body and placed his thin lips next to her ear. “Will you marry me?”
Han Muzi froze. In the afternoon, they were still arguing with each other and a couple of days ago, they were still giving each other the silent treatment. However, tonight, to her surprise, he proposed to her. Whatever this person did… Han Muzi did not seem to understand anymore.
She blinked and moved her pink lips slightly. Before she could open her mouth, Ye Moxuan already blurted, “I take it silence means consent?”
“What?” Han Muzi opened her eyes wide in surprise. “When did I agree…”
“Ha.” Ye Moxuan chuckled softly. “So, does that mean no?”
“I…” She did not mean to say no, but she reluctantly looked at what was before her and said angrily, “Is this how you ask someone to marry you? Why do I feel like this is a forced marriage, rather than a proposal?”
Ye Moxuan’s eyes appeared brighter in the night and exhibited the sharpness of a predator. He seemed positively exhilarated as he squeezed Han Muzi’s chin so that she had no choice but to look up at him.
“What’s wrong with a forced marriage? I can’t force you to do anything? Even if you don’t accept today, on the day of the wedding, I will carry you there if I have to.”
Facing such an extremely dominating Ye Moxuan, Han Muzi’s beautiful pupils constricted momentarily. Just a few moments later, her confidence had weakened and she went back to being submissive. She then commented sarcastically, “Who proposes like you? You just put the ring on my finger without uttering a word.”
Upon hearing that, Ye Moxuan was taken aback. “This is my first time asking someone to marry me.”
Han Muzi gasped. She felt like her heart was being pressed by something. “You…”
“First time I’m proposing.”
Han Muzi gritted her teeth and stared at him. “If you had experience, then you’d be dead meat.”
“So…” Ye Moxuan leaned over and buried his head in her neck, rubbing against it. “Whether you accept it or not, the wedding has to happen next month. Remember when we were overseas? You had already tacitly agreed to it.”
Talking about what happened when they were overseas reminded Han Muzi of the incident when she was suddenly abducted by him and brought to the airport. This led to her meeting with members of the Duanmu Family.
At that time, Ye Moxuan said in front of the Duanmu Family that they would be having a wedding in the following month.
Back then, Han Muzi thought Ye Moxuan was joking; who knew that… he meant it?
Han Muzi was slightly startled. “I-I thought you were joking, because after all…” After all, that was what he said when she took the initiative at that time, and that just meant he was cooperating with her to salvage her dignity.
Now, he was saying that the wedding was going to happen next month. This sudden news had caught Han Muzi off guard. She was not at all ready when he forcefully put the ring on her finger, and suddenly… there was a wedding. At this juncture, Han Muzi could not help but throw a worried glance at him.
“There is not much time left until next month. By next month, are you referring to the beginning or the end of the month?”
Hearing that, Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrows. “Are you anxious?”
These words made Han Muzi feel embarrassed and angry. “Who’s anxious? I’m just worried that there isn’t enough time. Also… I am not mentally prepared.”
“You are practically married to me already, and now, we are simply throwing a wedding to formalize it. What preparation does it need?”
The more Han Muzi thought about it, the more she felt that this was too hasty. She coughed gently. “Please give me some time to think about it.” After saying that, she pushed Ye Moxuan away, ignoring his reaction and running straight into the house.
Upon entering the house, Han Muzi went to look for a nightgown to put on because the collar of her shirt had become wet because of Ye Moxuan’s hair, and that had made her feel uncomfortable.
When she was hiding in the bathroom to change, she felt that her fingertips were shivering, such that she could not even button up her nightgown. She could only force herself to focus and try again seriously. But her fingers were shivering a lot and she still could not do it. After a long while, she helplessly looked up at herself in the mirror.
She looked beautiful but her eyes were elusive. It was obvious that she was nervous and shy. Sigh, Han Muzi, why are you such a good-for-nothing?
In her heart, she brutally disapproved of herself before she took a deep breath. She then bent over to turn the tap, scooped up some water, and splashed it against her cheeks multiple times with her eyes closed.
After a while, the heat on her face gradually dissipated as the chilly water had considerably calmed her down. Han Muzi then buried her face in her hands and looked at herself in the mirror. It’s nothing much—just a proposal. You have to stay calm. You have experienced all these before. Even if it’s a wedding, there’s nothing to be afraid of. After all… a wedding is just a formality. The real issue is that we’ll be living together in the coming days.
After comforting herself, Han Muzi lowered her head to button herself up before pushing open the door and heading out.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 682
The same night. When Ye Moxuan was sleeping, he was holding her tight in his arms. His huge arms were like heavy chains locked around her waist. She was trapped in his embrace; there was no way Han Muzi could get away.
Even though fall was already here, being in this stuffy house and embraced by Ye Moxuan in bed in such a way did feel somewhat suffocating. Especially since this man’s body temperature was much higher than hers. It was like she was in between a group of fireballs.
Han Muzi was suffocating. She had to use her hands to move his arms that were around her waist away while she said in a low voice, “Can you please loosen your grip; I can barely breathe.”
A heavy wheeze came from behind and a warm breath was blown on the back of her neck. Han Muzi could feel Ye Moxuan’s thin lips coming closer. “Liar. I am not even using any strength; why would you be unable to breathe?”
Being exposed by him, Han Muzi felt helpless. But she did indeed feel that sleeping in someone’s arms was too difficult as it was suffocating.
“You are not me; how do you know you’re not using any strength?”
“Oh?” Ye Moxuan chuckled. “Shall we switch?”
“Huh?”
“I’ll sleep in your arms then.”
Han Muzi remained speechless. Are you kidding me?
Sleep in my arms? He’s thinking too much. Han Muzi was disgusted by him in her heart for a moment and disagreed with him. “Dream on.”
“Why? Didn’t you say that I wasn’t you and wouldn’t know how you felt? Let’s switch to find out.”
“Look who’s talking. In reality, you just want to take advantage of me.”
After saying that, Han Muzi felt a momentary silence behind her. A few moments later, she again felt that the temperature was rising on Ye Moxuan’s body, and the surrounding air had also become stuffy.
Han Muzi could not help but complain, “Why is your body so warm?”
“You don’t know?”
Han Muzi frowned and tried to move her body around, but once she moved, she could feel the change in Ye Moxuan’s body. At that moment, she dared not move anymore and instead just lay there.
“You…”
The deep and hoarse voice came from behind, and it was like red wine passing through one’s throat—full of seduction. “Now, do you know?”
Han Muzi closed her eyes and calmed herself down before she yelled, “B*stard!”
“Sleep tight.” Ye Moxuan grabbed her waist with little strength, but that made Han Muzi want to run away. “If you are not tired, we can exercise to help us fall asleep.”
His enormous hand moved slowly along her waist, and this greatly startled Han Muzi. She quickly pressed against his hand that was crossing the line, and said, “No can do. I am really tired. I’m going to sleep now.” After saying that, Han Muzi closed her eyes, feeling extremely upset.
B*stard. He did that on purpose.
If she let him do something to her, based on previous accounts, she would not be getting any sleep tonight and would probably not be able to go to work tomorrow. Let’s just sleep… Sleep. Yes!
Han Muzi closed her eyes and tried hard to make herself fall asleep, but the body temperature of the person behind her was astonishingly high. She disdainfully complained about him in her heart for a few moments before gradually falling asleep.
All the while, Ye Moxuan never once stopped hugging her. He certainly knew how grumpy the person in his arms was, but… after around five minutes, the breathing of the person in his arms started to get even and quiet. Ye Moxuan lowered his head and looked at her and realized that Han Muzi had already fallen asleep. Just like that?
Ye Moxuan forced a smile on his lips. This woman was really cold and heartless—why could she not be more considerate of him? However, he was the one who wanted to cuddle her and bring trouble to himself. As such, he simply could not blame her. He lay there for a few more moments before he got up and headed to the bathroom.
He took a cold shower for more than ten minutes to cool his temperature down. He then went back to lie down beside Han Muzi and continued hugging her to sleep. But this time around, he did not try to hug her too tightly.
The next day, it was already bright out when Han Muzi woke up. While she was still in a buzz, her hand subconsciously went underneath the pillow to feel for her phone, but it wasn’t there.
Huh? Han Muzi was slightly confused and continued to search underneath the pillow. However, she still couldn’t find anything.
She lifted her head and saw that the phone was stowed on the cabinet next to the bed. When Han Muzi was about to reach for it and lifted her waist, a strong resisting force pulled her back.
“Why are you up so early?” Ye Moxuan just woke up, and his voice was still kind of hoarse. “Let’s get a little more sleep.”
“No.” Han Muzi pushed his hands away. “I need to get to work. Look at the sky; it’s not early anymore.”
“Did you forget?”
“Huh?”
“Today is Sunday. You don’t have to go to work.”
Han Muzi remained silent. Is it really Sunday today? She did some calculations and realized that he was right. Time indeed flew by.
She was still feeling tired, and after hearing that it was Sunday, she peacefully went back to sleep. This continued until noontime. When Han Muzi woke up, Ye Moxuan, who was next to her earlier, was nowhere to be seen.
She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and stared at the big blue ocean outside her window. Waking up to this view every day could really improve one’s mood. However, this was probably because she and Ye Moxuan had once again got back together, so… that made everything beautiful.
Five years ago, she had lived here for a considerable amount of time so she had a rough idea about the facilities available here. As such, after Han Muzi woke up, she headed straight to the bathroom to freshen up.
Probably because of the sound of her freshening up, somebody came knocking on the door. “Young Lady, are you up?”
Han Muzi spat out the toothpaste in her mouth, rinsed her mouth, and responded, “Uh-huh.”
“Lunch is ready. I will be out here waiting for you, Young Lady.”
Han Muzi acknowledged it and quickly got ready. She did not want others to wait for her too long so she put everything away very quickly and simply put her hair up before opening the bedroom door.
Standing in front of her was a completely new servant. All the previous familiar faces were no longer here. She was startled and felt a little disappointed. She thought… she might be able to see some familiar faces. Who knew after five years, so much had changed. Or maybe, they have all found something better.
“Young Lady, please come with me.”
Han Muzi nodded and started following her while asking, “Where is Ye Moxuan?”
Hearing how Han Muzi called Ye Moxuan directly by his name, the servant was surprised. But seeing how she was able to be brought back to Seabay Villa, and Young Master Ye had instructed her to address her as Young Lady, it didn’t seem strange now that she was calling Young Master Ye by his name.
The servant stayed calm and whispered in response, “Young Lady, Young Master Ye is waiting for you outside.”
Tsk. This person, who asked me to marry him last night, is so insincere that he can’t even inform me himself that lunch is ready?
However, she did not complain about these things to the servant; instead, she merely followed behind her, making one turn after another. Soon, she had arrived at the destination.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 683
When Han Muzi arrived, she did not see Ye Moxuan. She couldn’t help but ask about him, “Didn’t you say he’s here waiting for me? Why isn’t he here?”
The servant standing in front of the dining table heard this and quickly explained, “Young Lady, Young Master Ye has gone to answer a call. Please be seated.” With that, she respectfully pulled out the chair for Han Muzi. She had fear under her eyes as she seemed to be afraid of offending Han Muzi.
Han Muzi smiled. “Thank you.”
The servant was stunned and looked embarrassed. She did not expect that the Young Lady was more approachable and polite than what she imagined. Young Master Ye has good taste indeed.
“Young Lady, please let me pour you a vegetable-fruit juice.”
“Sure, thank you.”
After the juice was poured, Han Muzi took a small sip. Drinks like these were not particularly delicious but, of course, it was different for someone who enjoyed something like this. However, Han Muzi did not fall into that category. Fortunately, she was not a picky person. Whether she enjoyed it or not, she still had a small glass of it.
At this moment, Ye Moxuan came back from the call. When he noticed that Han Muzi was already at the table, he was surprised for a moment, then walked over to sit down next to her.
All the other servants looked at each other and left in an orderly manner.
“Isn’t today Sunday? Do you have work?” Han Muzi asked as she looked at the phone in his hand.
Ye Moxuan paused as his black pupils avoided her stare. He closed his thin lips for a moment and said, “It’s not work.”
Not work? Han Muzi blinked. “Then who called you?”
Thinking about that phone call, Ye Moxuan smiled gently. “You really want to know?”
Hearing that, Han Muzi showed her hand to him. The diamond ring was sitting on her fair, lean, and beautiful finger. “You have already asked me to marry you, albeit not too sincerely, but… I should be able to know something that I would like to know, shouldn’t I?”
Ye Moxuan leaned forward and whispered something in her ear, and Han Muzi’s face immediately turned red. “What did you just say?”
“Is that a no?”
Han Muzi was biting her lower lip while looking at Ye Moxuan, who was right in front of her. “Were you not joking?”
After these words came out, Ye Moxuan, who was still smiling underneath his eyes, suddenly returned to his usual cold and serious look. He spoke in a cold tone, “Did I look like I was joking?”
“No.”
“Good.”
Ye Moxuan pinched her nose and whispered, “Remember what I just said, ok?”
Han Muzi touched her nose and blinked embarrassingly. What if I told Han Qing what he just said to me? Qing… will he kick me out of the Han Family? Well, this was a question worth considering.
After breakfast, the two parted ways. Han Muzi sat inside the house, daydreaming. She was thinking about what reasons to use to justify herself. At that moment, Yan called.
“Hello?” Han Muzi answered the call. From the other end of the phone was Little Bean’s innocent and sweet voice. “Mommy…”
“Little Bean?” Hearing Little Bean’s voice slightly surprised Han Muzi. “Why are you up so early? Today is Sunday; do you not have to go to school?”
“Yes!” Little Bean responded in excitement. “Mommy, are you with that person?”
That person? Initially, Han Muzi could not think of who Little Bean was referring to. But after some thought, she realized something—Little Bean was not willing to acknowledge Ye Moxuan as his father, thus he would never address him like that. Who would have thought he would use ‘that person’ to describe Ye Moxuan?
She helplessly let out a sigh. “Didn’t I tell you before that he’s your daddy? Why are you calling him ‘that person’? How can you be so rude?”
Little Bean disapproved. “I don’t want to call him ‘Daddy’.”
“What about a salutation? Not even that?”
Little Bean had always been well-mannered. He would always address people politely no matter who that person was. However, when it came to Ye Moxuan… he referred to him as ‘that person’.
“Hmph. He is not worthy of me addressing him respectfully.”
Hearing that made Han Muzi frown. “Who taught you this? Hasn’t he been bringing you around these couple of days? Even after doing all that he is still not worthy?”
“Hmph. He always bullies you, so why should I address him respectfully? Mommy, don’t speak on behalf of that bad person. Did you already forget how he used to treat you?”
Han Muzi responded, “How did he treat me?”
“Mommy, you don’t remember?”
“What I meant was, how do you know all that?” Han Muzi would never tell Little Bean about any of these matters, and she did not use the phrase ‘your daddy’ much, either. So how did he know about these things? Didn’t he just get to know Ye Moxuan in the last couple of days? How does he know so much?
Holding the phone, Little Bean started to get nervous after hearing those words, so he pouted before saying, “Hmph. You don’t have to know how I know these things. I just know that he is a bad person!”
Hearing how headstrong Little Bean was about it, Han Muzi began wondering how did Little Bean—this young boy—suddenly find out about all these things. She reckoned it was Yan who told him about them. After all, he was her child. It was normal for him to want to fight for her.
At this point, Han Muzi could only whisper, “Alright. Kids should not be asking too much about adult issues. You are still little and you do not understand these matters. Wait until you get older, and then I’ll tell you more, okay?”
Little Bean grunted. “No way. I’ll find out myself.”
Han Muzi felt helpless. She just wanted to rub his head to brush his hair, but… now she could only hear his voice through the phone, so she could only respond softly, “Why did you call me suddenly today? Would you like me to bring you over?”
“Mommy, not today. Uncle Qing wants us to come over for a meal tonight.”
Uncle Qing… Han Qing… why is he suddenly asking us to go over for a meal? Normally, if he wanted to look for her, he would just visit her at her place, but now…
Thinking about this, Han Muzi subconsciously looked at the diamond ring on her finger. Did Han Qing find out about this? Did Yan tell him? No. Yan is not someone like that. Maybe… it was Little Bean who let it slip?
Han Muzi let out a sigh and felt somewhat guilty. “Having us over for a meal? So, did Uncle Qing tell you anything? Or… did you say anything to him?”
“Yes.” Little Bean concurred. “Mommy, please come and pick me up quickly. When you come, I will tell you.”
Han Muzi responded, “You little rascal; when did you become so naughty?” Forget it. Han Qing would eventually find out about this. Even if he did not ask her to eat together at home tonight, she would have to go back either way. “Okay, please wait there for me. I will be there to pick you up shortly.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 684
After hanging up the phone, Little Bean turned around and looked at the door, whereupon he found Yan standing there, eavesdropping. “Aunt Yan, are you eavesdropping on me?”
After being caught eavesdropping, Yan felt somewhat embarrassed, but she could only blame it on how alert this kid was. She thought she was being extremely cautious.
“Of course not.” Yan jumped out from behind the door, awkwardly waving at Little Bean. “I only came to check if you have given your mommy a call, not to purposely eavesdrop on your phone call.” Having finished that sentence, Yan put out her hand and patted Little Bean’s head while looking at him with a smiley face.
Little Bean stared at her for a few moments. “Liar. Aunt Yan, you wanted to listen in on my phone call!”
The smile on Yan’s face had slightly frozen. Eventually, she thought she just had to confess. “Alright, alright. I was eavesdropping on your phone call, okay? Did your mommy ask you to wait for her to come?”
Seeing how she had already confessed, Little bean did not question her any further. Instead, he just nodded.
Yan couldn’t help but continue asking, “Actually I was not planning on eavesdropping on your phone call, but… please don’t tell your Uncle Qing anything about your mommy, okay?”
“Why?” Little Bean’s confused eyes were on Yan.
Facing these beady eyes, Yan could not lie to his face. She muttered, “Just don’t ask why. It will be explained to you in the future; just not now. Little Bean, I know you are different from the other kids, and that you are smart, so this time you have to promise me, okay? Let your mommy handle this herself.” After she was done speaking, Yan earnestly looked at Little Bean.
Little Bean was also staring at her. The two stared at each other for a while before Little Bean came up with something witty. “But I don’t know anything. What can I tell Uncle Qing?”
“H-How do you not know anything? Weren’t you with your daddy…” At this point, Yan realized the situation and went up to hug Little Bean. “Little Bean, you are truly smart. I like you so much.”
When he heard this, Little Bean felt slightly disgusted so he pushed Yan away. “I only like my mommy. Plus, Aunt Yan likes Uncle Qing more!”
Being reminded of something personal by Little Bean, Yan could only touch her nose in embarrassment. She let out a sigh. “Alright. Whether I like you or Uncle Qing more, it’s all the same. I like you because you are so smart and cute.”
Of course, Little Bean did not care about Yan’s flattery. He put down his phone and focused on waiting for his mommy. Who knows what happened to Mommy and Daddy last night? Did she already forgive him? No, he can’t be forgiven! Bad Daddy. He used to bully Mommy, yet he still wants Mommy to forgive him so quickly. In his dreams!
The driver from Seabay Villa came to give Han Muzi a ride. When they had arrived at the entrance of the neighborhood, Han Muzi asked him to leave, but the driver was worried and insisted on waiting for her to go up.
Feeling helpless, Han Muzi had to tell the driver that Ye Moxuan was coming to pick her up. Only then did the driver come to the realization and drove away.
Han Muzi became relieved only after the driver had left. She then headed upstairs. Upon entering the house, she shouted Little Bean’s name.
Little Bean was seen running down from upstairs. He was running so fast that it frightened Han Muzi as she was afraid that he would fall if she asked him to stop all of a sudden. Therefore, when Little Bean ran into Han Muzi’s arms, the first thing that the latter did was pinch Little Bean’s ears.
“Who says you are allowed to run so fast? The stairs are so high; aren’t you afraid of falling? Do you think your body is made of steel?” Her tone was serious and it did not sound like she was joking.
Little Bean dared not argue with her, so he playfully stuck out his tongue. “Sorry, Mommy. It was my fault. I got excited the moment I saw you so…” After speaking, Little Bean lifted his head and looked at her pitifully, begging for affection.
Looking at Little Bean, Han Muzi’s desire to continue rebuking him had immediately disappeared.
Like a little beast, Little Bean pitifully pointed to his ears with his fingers. He murmured, “Mommy, it’s painful.”
Han Muzi subconsciously loosened her hands and helped him rub his ears. “Is it painful? Was I too much?”
“Yes!” Little Bean pouted sadly and looked at her with his teary-eyes. This look made Han Muzi feel extremely bad.
“Alright, it’s my fault. Don’t be mad at Mommy, okay? Go and wash your face and get changed; we are going to Uncle Qing’s place.”
Little Bean nodded in agreement. “Mommy, please give me a second.” He then turned around and headed upstairs. Han Muzi reminded him again as he was about to start running, so he had to slowly walk upstairs.
Coincidentally, Yan was standing at the stairs and she saw everything that happened. She came up to Han Muzi after Little Bean had left. “Little Bean’s ability to get himself out of trouble is getting better and better.”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless.
She stared at Yan for a moment. Even though she knew some part of what happened earlier was Little Bean’s attempt to get out of trouble, alas, he was still her son. How could she not spoil her son?
“Han Qing called to ask you to go over. What’s going on? He didn’t find out about what happened between you and Young Master Ye, did he?”
Speaking of this, Han Muzi was surprisingly calm—as if she was not worried at all.
Yan was slightly puzzled. “Why are you so calm? That’s your brother right there; aren’t you supposed to be worried?”
Han Muzi looked up—composed—and whispered, “What good does it do even if I am worried? Sooner or later, he will find out about this, so since it’s just a matter of time, it doesn’t make much difference.”
At this juncture, Yan thought what she said made perfect sense. If Muzi wanted to be with Ye Moxuan, Han Qing would definitely find out about it, sooner or later. There really was not that much of a difference whether he discovered it now… or later.
Yan nodded. “So, have you thought about how to bring it up with your brother?”
How to bring it up? Thinking of what she might have to say to Han Qing, including her requests, Han Muzi felt a chill running down her spine, even though… she did not seem to have any other options.
She smiled and said, “We’ll see what happens later. I will play it by ear.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 685
After the few of them were ready, they left for the Han Residence right away. Initially, Han Muzi was planning on driving there herself, but when she arrived at the parking lot, she remembered that she had left her car at the Ye Group yesterday. Now, she had no vehicle to take with her.
Little Bean and Yan, who were standing right next to her, asked in unison.
“Mommy, where’s the car?”
“Muzi, where’s the car?”
Han Muzi did not know how to respond. She touched her nose, feeling a little embarrassed. “I don’t think it’s… here.”
“Yeah, we’ve noticed. So what should we do now? Should we walk all the way there?” Yan sighed and helplessly looked at Han Muzi. “I knew we couldn’t count on you. Let’s call a cab.” With that, Yan took out her phone and quickly called a cab.
When they got into the cab, Yan and Little Bean were seated next to each other, complaining.
“Little Bean, your mommy is unreliable. Next time when we go out, it’s better to rely on me.”
Upon hearing that, Little Bean nodded while laughing.
At the Han Residence.
After getting out of the car, perhaps due to her guilty conscience, Han Muzi almost fell when she tried to stagger a few steps forward. Fortunately, Yan was quick to pull her up.
That was close. Han Muzi started to look slightly worried after she stood steadily.
“Mommy, are you okay?” Little Bean quickly ran to her side and held her hands. “Why don’t you let me hold your hand when you walk?”
After Han Muzi had finally calmed down, she looked at Little Bean and smiled. “I’m okay, Little Bean. Don’t need to worry about me.”
As she was taking a few steps forward, Yan muttered softly, “I was just wondering how you could be so calm. So, you are indeed a little scared and worried on the inside.” After finishing that sentence, Yan chuckled.
Han Muzi gave her a stare and whispered, “That’s not true.”
“Whatever.”
When the servants at the door saw Han Muzi, Yan, and Little Bean, they quickly greeted them. “Young Lady, you’re here.”
Han Muzi nodded and smiled. “Mrs. Qin, where is my brother?”
“Since Master got up this morning, he has been in a video conference in his study.”
“A video conference?” Han Muzi blinked and subconsciously looked at Little Bean, who was next to her.
“Every time Uncle Qing is in a meeting, it will usually take a long time, mommy. Are we still going to wait for him?”
Han Muzi pinched Little Bean’s face and whispered, “Uncle Qing is in a conference, so we’ll just walk around a little bit while waiting for him to join us later for lunch. You have lived here before, Little Bean; why don’t you go and play by yourself for a moment?”
“Alright, Mommy. I’ll go play now.” Little Bean left right away. Though he did not have long legs and arms, he could move around very quickly. He disappeared in a split second.
This was the Han Residence, so there was no need to worry about his safety. Seeing that he had left to play by himself, Han Muzi decided to carry on with her business.
“What about you?” Han Muzi looked at Yan, who was standing next to her. “He went to play by himself. Where are you planning on going?”
Where am I planning on going? Yan was stunned for a second. Since she was not part of the Han Family, she could not possibly be like Little Bean and go wherever she wanted to.
Sigh. At this moment, Yan began to feel sad. If Han Qing was into her, she could freely move around in this place.
This saddened her. Why did it seem so easy for others to go after their crush, but for her, it had to be so difficult? Didn’t people always say it was easy for a woman to go after a man? However, Yan felt like there had been so many obstacles in her courtship of Han Qing.
“What’s going on? You want to go look for my brother, don’t you?” Han Muzi asked.
Yan came back to her senses and quickly denied it, “Of course not. How would I dare to disturb him when he’s in a conference? If I were to go in and look for him now, he will hate me even more.” After all, when a man was busy at work, whenever he was bothered by someone, whoever it was, they would surely harbor an unpleasant feeling.
Yan knew this point well herself.
“Alright, look at how mad you are getting. Don’t be sad anymore. Let me show you around, and when it’s lunchtime you’ll be able to see him.”
Yan did not feel like saying anything more. She nodded and went away with Han Muzi.
Close to noon, all the delicious food had been placed on the table. The servants were busy going in and out as they all knew the Young Lady of the Han Family, Han Muzi, was an apple in their master’s eyes.
Thus, when Han Qing was giving the instructions, all the servants were extremely attentive. If they pleased Han Muzi, that would naturally mean they had also pleased Han Qing.
Looking at all the different dishes and things that were on the table in front of her, Han Muzi was shocked. She subconsciously asked the servant next to her, “What is the special occasion today?”
The servant was startled and wondered for a moment what she meant by that, before responding, “Miss Muzi, there is no special occasion today. Is there anything wrong?”
No special occasion? Why are there so many dishes on the table then? Han Muzi was confused. “It seems like normally there aren’t that many dishes. Since there are so many today, I thought there was some special occasion.”
One of the older servants heard it and responded with a smile, “Miss Muzi, there are some things that you aren’t aware of. Whenever you come home, that day will be a special day for the Han Family. It’s even more important than any other festivals.”
These words, once spoken, had immediately received the concurrence from the other servants around—many of the younger servants nodded in agreement. “That’s right, Miss Muzi, once you’re home, our Master is extremely happy, and that will be the most special day for the Han Family.”
Seeing rows of smiley faces and thinking of Han Qing’s face, for some reason Han Muzi felt touched. Han Qing spoiled her a lot, yet she hid many things from him—including the fact that she was with Ye Moxuan. She had never mentioned any of these things to Han Qing before.
At this point, Han Muzi decided that if this lunch that Han Qing invited her to was merely a lunch, she would bring up Ye Moxuan. But if Han Qing already knew about it, she would just willingly admit to it.
After making the decision, Han Muzi smiled at them. “Alright, thank you, everyone, for your hard work today, and for all the good food. It’s getting late, so please go and eat now.”
“Thank you, Miss Muzi. We’ll go now.”
“Sure.”
“By the way, Master’s conference has just finished. He will be down in a minute.”
“Okay.”
When they were all gone, Han Muzi looked around, but she did not seem to see Little Bean anywhere. This Little Bean; where did he go this time?
Not just Little Bean. Even Yan… had disappeared as well. She was still with her earlier, but she disappeared after Han Muzi went back to her room to get changed.
Did she go and find Han Qing already?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 686
Han Muzi smiled at the thought. Yan was indeed persistent, but she was good for someone like her brother and his cold demeanor. Perhaps he needed that sort of persistence to help gradually melt his frozen heart.
Following that, Han Muzi sat down. The array of delicious-looking food displayed in front of her made it hard for her to resist.
Yet, not everyone had arrived at the table and it would be impolite to help herself to it first. Thus, she just sat there with her cheek in one hand, looking at her phone.
When she entered her WeChat interface, she happened to see Ye Moxuan’s name. Her face started to heat up as she remembered what he said into her ear. She bit her bottom lip and thought, He is going to marry me.
She broke into a slight smile as she swiped over his name on the screen with her snowy white finger.
“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. That smile of someone being head over heels in love is giving me goosebumps,” Yan teased suddenly. Han Muzi looked to the side and noticed Yan had sat down next to her.
She was slightly taken aback. There had been no one next to her earlier; when did Yan manage to creep up and sit beside her?
Yan saw her puzzled stare and explained, “Don’t look at me like that. You were the one too deep in thought with Ye Moxuan to have heard me. I even said hi to you earlier when I came.”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded for a moment. Did she say hi to me? How did I not hear it?
While she was doubting herself, Yan inched closer to her with a smirk on her face. “What are you thinking of, Muzi? I can’t get over this look on your face. Are you… thinking of something naughty?”
Han Muzi was speechless. She looked at Yan’s little devilish face. Even though Yan was single, she always had an impish look on her face whenever they talked about her relationship with Ye Moxuan; she acted like she knew about everything.
At that thought, she decided to say something in return, “You won’t get it even if I told you. It’s not like you have someone to share those experiences with.”
The smile on Yan’s face fell. After a long while, she reached out and grabbed Han Muzi’s neck in anger. “Fine, go ahead and make fun of me being single, you darn woman! Hmph! If it weren’t for that extremely hard-to-get man, I would’ve left single-hood a long time ago, alright? Now I’m gonna be single forever, and you’re even making fun of me for it!” She got angrier as her face turned into a grimace. “I’m going to strangle you to death right now!”
Han Muzi looked indifferent as though she had not taken anything Yan had said seriously.
Suddenly, Yan quickly pulled her hands back. Her speed was as quick as lighting and the grimace on her face had long disappeared. In its place, instead, was a look of fear. She glanced up briefly, then immediately lowered her eyes again in fear of looking at the person who had just arrived.
One look at her and the change in her expression, and Han Muzi could guess who it was. Who else could cause such an abrupt change in Yan’s behavior other than that brother of hers?
She fixed her collar and hair leisurely, then sat up straight in the chair.
“Mommy, Aunt Yan.” The voice of a child called them from behind. Han Muzi turned to look and realized Han Qing was holding Little Bean’s hand as the both of them made their way toward them.
Yikes. Little Bean had gone to his uncle? No wonder she had not seen a trace of him anywhere.
She thought for a moment, then said in a gentle voice, “Didn’t I tell you not to bother your uncle when he was in a meeting? Little Bean, were you not listening to me again?”
After Little Bean heard that, he blinked his eyes and refuted, “Mommy, I wouldn’t bother Uncle Qing. I asked Aunt Qin first and she told me Uncle had finished his meeting already; only then did I go look for him.” He finished speaking and looked up with his little face at Han Qing. “Uncle Qing, I’m telling the truth, right?”
Han Qing looked at his face, then bent down and picked him up with one hand. “Yes, Little Bean did not bother me at all,” he said and sat down.
Little Bean and Han Qing sat together, while Han Muzi and Yan sat across from them.
Yan looked up sneakily to take a peek at Han Qing. He was indeed sitting right across from her and she had even made eye contact with his deep and steady eyes at that moment. Startled, she quickly lowered her head again and stared at her hands as they fidgeted nervously.
“You haven’t been home in a long time. Is the food still to your liking?” Han Qing asked Han Muzi as he used his chopsticks to pick up some food for Little Bean.
Han Muzi, who had started eating, nodded. “Of course. Besides, it’s not like I haven’t been home in that long. It doesn’t feel like it’s been a long time.”
His eyes turned gloomy. “After getting your new place, you don’t know how to visit without me having to call you?”
She felt a chill down her spine and could only go along with it. “It’s because I’m busy.”
“Busy? Even on Sundays?”
“Yes! You should know too. The company just started so we’ve been very busy this whole time. Plus, you introduced a lot of new clients to me at the last banquet, so that only made me busier. Don’t just blame me for it now.” She put her hands together and looked at him with pleading eyes.
His hand that held the pair of chopsticks hesitated briefly when he saw her strange expression. This girl… Is she acting coy with me right now? What provoked her? Then, as if it had just occurred to him, he realized she looked much better than before.
“Mommy, eat this.” The voice of the child suddenly disrupted his train of thought.
Little Bean picked up a big chicken drumstick and dropped it in Han Muzi’s bowl. “Mommy, you’re too skinny. You have to eat more meat.”
Yan watched this scene from the side, then returned to looking at her toes. What do I do? I feel like such an outsider here.
If only she did not have feelings for Han Qing, then she probably would not have felt that way. But ever since she caught feelings for him, she always felt out of place when she ate with the three of them. Moreover, she did not have a place among them. She was just a friend to Han Muzi and she had to grow a thicker skin every time she followed Han Muzi around like that. The more she thought about it, the more upset she became.
Just as she was debating whether to get up and leave, another one of the drumsticks was placed in her bowl. Shocked, she looked up timidly to see the pair of chopsticks return to its owner.
Her breathing stifled for a bit and her chest felt tight as though something was pressing down on her. Was that… Han Qing, who gave me the drumstick? Oh my goodness, am I dreaming? Han Qing… gave me the drumstick?
Han Muzi also looked at that scene in slight astonishment. All eyes were on Han Qing, but he had done it on a whim and only felt it was not quite right after it was done. Without a change in demeanor, he picked up another piece of drumstick and put it in Little Bean’s bowl.
“Ladies and children first.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 687
He had said that nonchalantly, without a slight change in gaze or expression. Han Qing was just being a gentleman so he did not want to make a big deal out of it. The sparks that Yan had felt a second ago were extinguished a second later after what he said and did.
Sigh. She thought… he had given her the drumstick as a sign of fondness. Who knew he was just being a gentleman? When she thought about how she overreacted earlier, she felt slightly dejected.Nonetheless, Han Qing had willfully given her the drumstick. That showed, at least, that she was not an outsider there. The thought of being the outsider she had from before was now all gone. She held the drumstick up; she was so touched that she was close to bawling her eyes out. Oh, he’s not that cold-hearted after all. At least… he knows how to be a gentleman. As long as she kept trying, she would eventually get closer to him.
“Why are you guys looking at me? Not eating?” Han Qing asked in a low voice as he tapped Han Muzi and Little Bean on the head with his chopsticks. He noticed that they were still looking at him and the only person eating away happily was Yan.
Han Muzi returned to her senses and lowered her head to eat her drumstick. After she took a small bite, she glanced at Yan. The corners of her lips curled up into a slight smile as she saw how happy Yan was. Perhaps… some things were already starting to change?
But only Han Qing himself knew the answer to that.
The atmosphere for the rest of the meal became warier after that small episode. However, everyone was occupied with their thoughts and was thinking about different things. As such, not much conversation took place after that.
After their meal, Han Qing wanted to talk to Han Muzi when his phone rang. He glanced down at the caller ID, then looked at Han Muzi. She caught his gaze and looked at him curiously.
He was silent for a moment before he said in a low voice, “Muzi, go wait for me in the study.” Then, he stepped out to pick up the call.
When he was no longer in the room, Yan who had been racking her brains regained some of her energy from before. She lifted her head and glanced at Han Muzi. “Muzi, did you see that? Your brother gave me a drumstick earlier.”
Han Muzi looked at her weirdly. “Is that why you spent the rest of the dinner eating that one drumstick?”
Yan was speechless. Since Han Qing gave her that drumstick, she had been so touched that she did not eat any of the other dishes and just kept nibbling away at it.
Han Muzi pursed her lips and patted her shoulder without hesitation. “The food today is delicious. Are you sure you don’t want to stay and eat more?”
“Hmph! I’m not eating anymore. Listen to me, your brother gave me a drumstick. I’m touched beyond words! Do you think I mean at least that much to your brother now?”
“Probably?” Han Muzi tilted her head slightly. She could say that much if it meant it would reignite Yan’s hopes.
As Yan heard that, she held up her fists. “Okay then! I will try even harder! Now I feel like my efforts from before were not all for nothing.”
Han Muzi left Yan in her delusions. Both Little Bean and Yan stayed where they were while Han Muzi got up to help clear the dishes. After she washed her hands, she went straight to Han Qing’s study.
The study was quiet. Every corner was spotless without a speck of dust, and the shelves were also neatly organized. Her brother was indeed a meticulous and serious person. It would not be a bad choice if he ended up with Yan. However, she knew feelings could not be forced. She would not be surprised even if he did not end up with her.
She waited for a while but Han Qing still did not return. After she made a fuss about him being busy even on a Sunday, she found herself in front of his computer ready to surf the net.
Feeling bored, she got on the internet and played some games for leisure. She had almost fallen asleep while waiting when she heard some noise at the door. She was sprawled out on the table, struggling to keep her eyes open; she lifted her head to look at him as soon as she heard the noise.
Han Qing entered the room with the phone still in his hand. He saw her sprawled out on the table, then closed the door with his other hand and walked toward her. “Tired?”
Han Muzi sat up and rubbed her eyes sleepily. “I waited for you for so long. Are you this busy on Sundays too? A video conference in the morning as well as a phone conference in the afternoon?”
Her slight tease made it hard for him to hold back his laughter. He looked at his sister and his lips curled up into a small smile. “The phone conference ended early.”
She was a bit taken aback. “Was I right? Qing, how busy are you?”
“Before you berate me, didn’t you also say you were busy on Sundays?”
That left her in an awkward spot as she was not expecting him to use her words against her. She stood up suddenly, “Why did you call me over? Is there a problem?”
“I can’t call you if there’s no problem? We’re the only two siblings in the Han Family. Even if there is no problem, you should come home more often to visit.”
We’re the only two siblings in the Han Family. This sentence had stirred something in her. She hesitated briefly as she remembered the things the previous servants had told her, and the thoughts that were in her mind. She judged from Han Qing’s relaxed behavior that he still did not know about her and Ye Moxuan. Since she had already decided to be straightforward, she did not want to drag it on any longer.
At the thought of that, she looked right at him. “Qing, I have something to tell you.”
“Hm?” He had been extremely busy; so busy that he was worn out and did not pay much attention to her. In addition to that, he felt remorseful toward her after both of them nearly got into an argument the last time. He had found her after much difficulty, so how could he be angry with her? He then nodded his head. “Go ahead.”
Han Muzi took a deep breath in as she looked at Han Qing’s steady expression. She had thought of how she would break the news to him all day and finally decided to just say it to him directly. After all, he would find out eventually. Instead of beating around the bush, it was better to get straight to the point.
With a burst of energy, she declared, “I wanted to come and get my household registration book today.”
“Household registration book?” His expression showed that he was bewildered, yet he did not wonder why she needed the book. He just thought that, because she was his sister, he needed to let her have her way. After being stumped for a brief moment, he nodded his head. “Sure. Take it.”
She was confused. Just like that? He let me take it so easily? She looked at his still and calm face, and wondered, Did he not figure out why I want the household registration book?
She bit her bottom lip and asked cautiously, “Are you not going to ask me why?”
He glanced at her. “Why?”
“To register…”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 688
In the next moment, she saw his smile had begun to fade and he looked slightly bewildered.
She had expected a reaction like that from him, though. She lowered her eyes slowly and bit her bottom lip. Then, after a long pause, she asked, “Qing, you do know what I mean, don’t you?”
As he looked at her, the smile on his face completely disappeared and his eyes became indifferent. “What do you mean?” He already knew what she was talking about, but he wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. But when she looked up at him, she saw the unforgiving look behind his eyes that warned of an incoming burst of anger. If I keep going…
“I want to register Ye Moxuan in my household,” she blurted out.
Then, his eyes turned more threatening. “Do you know what you’re saying?”
“I do.” She lifted her head and looked intently at him. “Since I’ve let it out, I’m not changing my mind anymore. I’m an adult. I have the power to make my own decisions.”
“By that, are you saying I did something I shouldn’t have in the past? Or are you trying to tell me to back off from your life now?” A bitter smile crept up his lips as he grimaced.
The look on his face had made her heart feel heavy. She looked down and her voice softened. “Qing, I know you’ve always treated me very well. But…”
“Let me ask you something. Did you already forget about all the hurtful things he did to you in the past?”
She could not respond to that. Of course not. How could I forget? Some memories are just ingrained in our bones. Even if we were reincarnated in our next life, these memories would not be erased.
“There is a reason for everything. Back then, I did some hurtful things to him too. We’re even now.”
His expression changed and he stepped forward. “You’re letting him off just like that? Our Han family’s little sister is that foolish? What about what you said before you returned?’
“Qing!” Her voice got louder as she stepped back. “I’m not being fooled. This is my own decision.”
“So, you didn’t come here to discuss this with me. You only came to inform me, is that right?”
She was speechless. How did he expect her to answer that? She had decided that she wanted to be with Ye Moxuan forever, so she needed to get the household registration book to register his name in it. But, she also felt like she had to tell Han Qing about it.
“I am discussing this with you,” she said with her head down. “But… if you don’t agree with this, I won’t give in either.”
His gaze grew frighteningly dark. All of a sudden, he caught a glimpse of the diamond ring on her finger. The expression on his face turned furious. He stepped forward and pulled her wrist up to look—it was indeed a diamond ring. How did he fail to notice it at dinner earlier?
Now that he thought about it, she had intentionally kept that hand under the table throughout the entire dinner—for fear that he would notice it. Hmph! The audacity!
“Qing?” He had gripped her hand so tightly that it hurt her. She frowned. “Let go of me first. You’re hurting me.”
“So you do know what pain is? Did you forget how he hurt you five years ago?”
“Qing.” She struggled to free her hand. “Let go of me, and I will explain everything to you.”
He looked at her with a spiteful look. “Forget it.” He let go of her hand abruptly and took a few steps back. Without even acknowledging her, he turned his back on her. “I’m not giving you the household registration book; nor do you have to explain any of this.”
“Qing—”
“If you still see me as your older brother, then just act like you never brought this up. Leave.”
“But I came here for this; I—”
He sneered. “I thought you came home to have a meal. I didn’t think you would come just for this book. You are truly a good little sister.”
“Qing.” At that point, she did not know how to explain herself any further. If she was set on getting the book that day, then he would be angry and even disappointed in her. Moreover, if she still insisted, she might end up hurting him. Should I insist? Or… should I end it here and come back another day?
“It’s fine if you won’t let me have it today. I’ll leave for now and come back another time.” With that, she turned to leave the study.
It was only when she was out of the study that Han Qing turned around to look, pensively, in the direction she left in.
When she walked down the stairs, she realized that Yan and Little Bean were already waiting for her. After that dispute with Han Qing, she imagined she looked slightly crestfallen. With a soft sigh, she reset her composure, then walked downstairs.
Yan carefully observed her face. “What happened? Did you argue with your brother?”
“No.” She shook her head. “We won’t be eating dinner here tonight. Let’s get going.”
Yan turned sullen. “No way. We’re going back already? I haven’t even had a proper conversation with your brother yet…”
“How about… I leave Little Bean here? You can stay and look after him.”
“That’s fine by me!”
After their talk, Yan stayed with Little Bean at the Han Residence while Han Muzi headed home first. However, she did not have a car or a driver to take her home. She walked out of the Han Residence and onto the streets by herself. Although she held her phone in her hand, she had no intention of calling a taxi.
Her mind was still stuck on the household registration book. If Han Qing doesn’t agree, how will I be able to convince him?
She loved her brother, so she could not bring herself to hurt him or make him angry. But seeing as how he got so angry at the mention of the book, she was afraid that if she kept talking about it…
Her head started to hurt and she reached up to press her temples. This was not going to be easy. The problem was that her brother was unwilling to accept Ye Moxuan. Since that was the case, did Ye Moxuan himself have to go and meet Han Qing to solve the problem? But…
Suddenly, her phone started to vibrate. She glanced down and saw that it was a call from Ye Moxuan. She idled for a bit before answering. “Hello?”
“What were you so deep in thought about?”
“Huh?” His question left her dumbfounded.
“You’ve been walking for around ten minutes now. Are you going to walk all the way back to Seabay Villa?”
In that instant, her head shot up. She searched in front of her but did not see him. At the same time, a low chuckle came from the phone. “Turn around.”
Han Muzi swung her head back. Under the scorching sun, a familiar-looking vehicle was following not too far behind her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 689
Ye Moxuan! She was both surprised and pleased to see him as his car slowly drove up to her. What is he doing here? Why is he following me? Has he been following me this whole time?
When the car stopped in front of her, she walked up to see him in the driver’s seat. “Why are you here?”
He glanced at her, then got out of the car and opened the door for her. “Let’s talk inside the car.”
He fastened her seatbelt as they got in the car. Staring at his handsome face that was within reach, she pursed her lips and said, “I couldn’t get the household registration book.”
His hands continued to move swiftly without any sign of a reaction. It did not faze him—as though he had already predicted that would happen. A moment later, he pulled away from her and started to drive. However, he remained quiet the whole time. She guessed what his silence meant and started to calm down.
“Did you see this coming?” Her voice was still and composed.
“Mm-hmm.” He nodded. With his slender fingers on the steering wheel, he made a turn and the car moved in a different direction.
“So you let me come here even though you knew?” She glared at him. “You knew what you did back then got you on my brother’s bad side, yet you don’t have any plans to make amends with him?”
His lips curled up. “If I hadn’t let you come here, how else would I pass on my greetings? Even if I plan on making amends with him, I first have to greet him before I can continue.”
“Continue?”
“Relax.” His hand reached out suddenly and rested on top of her fair hands. In a gentle voice, he said, “This time, I will make sure you get married to me with glory, and that everyone knows you are Mrs. Ye—my wife.” He turned to look at her with a deep and tender gaze. His dark eyes were so magnetizing that she almost got absorbed in them.
She felt her heart skip a beat and quickly swung his hand away. “Drive properly!” Feeling unsettled, she added, “You say that like I’m in a rush to marry you.”
Even after she swung his hand off, he did not get mad. Instead, he smirked and replied plainly, “Right. You’re not the one in a rush to get married—I am. How does that sound? Mrs. Ye?”
Her ears felt hot. She grumbled at him then turned to look out the window, refusing to deal with him anymore.
When he brought her back to Seabay Villa, he gave her an excuse that he had work to do and drove off. As he was driving, he made a call to Han Qing.
Han Qing let out a snort when he saw the last few digits of the number, then answered it.
“President Han.”
Han Qing pursed his lips and stared intently ahead of him without saying a word.
“This is Ye Moxuan. Do you perhaps have time for a drink now?” He got straight to the point without even pardoning himself.
Han Qing snickered on the inside. This person must want my sister so badly to be this straightforward.
“Where?”
At last, they decided to meet at a bar on West Street. The purpose of choosing this location was obvious.
When Han Qing arrived, Ye Moxuan had already reserved a VIP Gold room downstairs and was waiting for him to arrive.
Opening the door into the room, Han Qing caught sight of Ye Moxuan, sitting lazily with his legs folded, on the couch. The lights in the room were also fairly dimmed. Ye Moxuan’s distinct features were further highlighted in that setting.
Tsk. His appearance makes him look like he’s worth something. In truth, Han Qing had thought that Ye Moxuan’s appearance fitted his sister. They looked incredible when they stood next to each other. Moreover, his family background was unrivaled.
However, those were his thoughts before the incident five years ago. After that, Han Qing witnessed with his own eyes how much pain Muzi had to go through. How could I send my sister back into that hellhole?
Once he reaffirmed his decision, he strode into the room.
Ye Moxuan smirked when he saw him. “I did not think that the President Han would grace me with his presence.”
Han Qing shot him a cold look. “I only came here to tell you to leave Muzi.”
“Oh?” His eyebrows lifted. Did he think he would get his way? Not only does he disapprove of our relationship, but he’s going to try hard to stop me? The process of getting married was not going too well for Ye Moxuan.
“Do you think I’m here to fulfill your wishes?” Han Qing’s voice sounded cold. “That girl is soft-hearted. But I, on the other hand, remember everything in detail on behalf of her as her brother. You don’t have the right to marry her, or even present yourself to her.” His tone was sharp and cruel without any hint of a joke.
However, Ye Moxuan kept a bitter expression on his face the whole time. Han Qing was going to be his future brother-in-law, but he did not give Ye Moxuan the benefit of the doubt at the very least.
Ye Moxuan had always been high and mighty, so he would never bow his head down to anyone. Of course, except for the woman he loved, he would never bow down to anyone else in his life. Therefore, he remained headstrong in his plight with Han Qing. “I also remember saying that I won’t stop until I get her. She is an adult with her own life. Not to mention that we have a child together. President Han, what right do you have to stop us from being together? How much and how well do you know about what happened five years ago? An ignorant outsider doesn’t have any grounds to accuse me like this.”
Han Qing narrowed his eyes and furrowed his brows at him. “So you’re not admitting that you hurt her back then?”
Ye Moxuan lifted his head to meet Han Qing’s gaze. “I admit it.”
The words slipped out of his mouth without hesitation. Han Qing was taken aback. He had assumed that Ye Moxuan would deny his wrongdoings until the very end, but he had admitted to them right away. But what was in his mind when he said all those things earlier? Han Qing narrowed his eyes and gazed at him with a puzzled look.
“But that is between me and her. Our relationship was complicated from the start. Furthermore, someone had tried to sabotage us back then—to create a misunderstanding between us.”
Han Qing laughed coldly. “Even if someone tried to sabotage you, you could have avoided bringing pain to her if you had just trusted her enough.”
“You’re right.” Ye Moxuan pursed his lips. “If there had been enough trust in our relationship, I wouldn’t have been suspicious of her and my brother. She wouldn’t have kept me in the dark and went off on her own to look into me, either.”
At that moment, Han Qing paused and his pupils contracted. It seems like both of them were equally untrusting and suspicious of each other back then. Regardless of how much two people love each other, a lack of trust can easily destroy their relationship.
In reality, there were a multitude of things that required trust.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 690
“Are you saying it’s her fault that she didn’t trust you?”
Ye Moxuan lowered his eyes and had an anguished smile on his face. “Can I blame her? When I didn’t even trust her myself, how could I have expected her to trust me completely?” His eyes turned gloomy as he looked at Han Qing.
“Looks like you know yourself pretty well. Since you know there was no trust in your relationship, why are you still bothering her then? Don’t tell me you plan on letting what happened five years ago happen again?
He looked up—eyes filled with determination—at Han Qing’s doubtful and questioning gaze. “Of course not. How many second chances do we get in life? President Han, do you think I would have just wasted five years waiting without changing myself?” he countered harshly.
“Who knows? Your family history could have easily twisted your disposition. Who knows if you’re still thinking of torturing her? Muzi is the precious gem of our Han Family. We won’t marry her off to you that easily.”
“Then, what do I need to do to gain your approval?”
Han Qing frowned. At that moment, Ye Moxuan had a self-assured look on his face and his eyes were filled with contentment, as though he was not the least bit afraid that Han Qing would refuse him.
“Ye Moxuan, stop fooling around. I’m not here today to discuss your marriage with Muzi, but instead, to warn you to leave her.”
Ye Moxuan chuckled. “You know that’s not possible. We’re inseparable. If we leave each other, then we’ll just end up growing old alone in this life.” After a brief hesitation, he narrowed his eyes as he analyzed Han Qing. “As her brother, are you thinking of making her grow old with you since you don’t plan on getting married yourself?”
Han Qing was speechless. Ye Moxuan’s remark had agitated him and made him unhappy.
“Even if you plan to abstain from love, you can’t possibly ask your sister to do the same, can you?”
Han Qing glared at him and his hands on either side of him subconsciously curled into fists. “Who told you I was going to let her follow me in abstaining from love?”
“If that’s not the case, then all the more reason for you not to stop us. Those five years should have been enough to show you.”
Han Qing furrowed his brows together. Even though he was not appeased by Ye Moxuan, what he said was true. They were indeed separable. Even if they split up, they would not fall in love with anyone else again and would probably grow old alone. He had thought of keeping her by his side and showering her with unending love once he brought her back.
It did not matter even if she did not get married and had to depend on the Han Family for the rest of her life. He could keep earning money and look after both her and Little Bean. She could have everything and splurge on anything she wanted.
If she wanted to get married, then he would find someone suitable for her—someone he could manage. This person would not dare to flirt with anyone else other than Muzi, and he would not dare to get mad at her either. At least, someone he had control over. This person was not Ye Moxuan.
The man in front of him seemed good for her on the surface. However, if the Han Group were to go up against the Ye Group, despite the Han Group already being an established enterprise in North City, Han Qing feared that he would have no control over Ye Moxuan at all. Moreover, the two of them had some history with each other. How could feel at ease if he sent her over to him?
“Billboards on streets all over the country will let everyone know that she will soon be my wife.”
Han Qing sneered inwardly. Suddenly, Ye Moxuan pulled out a leather folder from beside him and placed it in front of Han Qing. “Of course, this is my true gesture of sincerity.”
True gesture of sincerity? Han Qing looked at the leather folder and thought for a moment before opening it to take a look.
When he caught a glimpse of the words ‘transfer of shares approval’, he felt his brows jerk up and a faint suspicion developing in his heart. Is he really releasing his shares from Ye Group? To Muzi?
At the thought of that possibility, Han Qing took one full look at Ye Moxuan. Given the Ye Group’s status in North City, it would certainly be beneficial if he was willing to release his shares to Muzi.
The further he read through it, the more conflicted he felt. By the time he finished reading through the whole thing and looked up, Ye Moxuan had already handed a black, gold-studded fountain pen to him with a small smile on his face. “The witness should sign it.”
Looking back and forth between the fountain pen and his relaxed demeanor, Han Qing began to doubt the legitimacy of the contract in front of him.
“There’s no need to doubt. If you don’t believe me, we can have the best lawyer come over now.”
Han Qing looked up at him. Ye Moxuan then gave him a slightly sinister smile. “Do you see my sincerity now? Brother-in-law?”
Han Qing was speechless. He felt as though someone had choked him for a moment. Then, he clenched his teeth and said, “Who’s your brother-in-law? Don’t speak so carelessly!”
“How am I speaking carelessly?” Ye Moxuan smirked. “Just wait until Muzi and I get married. You’ll be my brother-in-law whether you like it or not.”
Han Qing blinked a few times. His well-composed temperament helped keep him from an outburst. He looked at the contract in front of him again. “Has she seen this yet?”
Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrows slightly. “There’s no need. She’s just going to marry me. I don’t want to burden her with this.”
Han Qing was slightly impressed by what he said. At least he knew to conceal this matter from Muzi.
“Since you seem to have a clear understanding of this, you probably know that she would feel apprehensive about marrying you if she found out you are giving her all your shares.”
“Looks like you’ve approved of us getting married then, brother-in-law?” After Ye Moxuan succeeded in his goal, he stood up and curled his lips in satisfaction. “Since it’s settled now, I won’t bother you any longer.”
For a moment, Han Qing was dumbfounded. Just when he was about to protest that he had not agreed yet, Ye Moxuan grabbed his car keys and walked out of the room.
The expression on Han Qing’s face changed. He wanted to chase after Ye Moxuan, but he realized the contract was still on the table and did not want someone to take it away, so he just remained where he was. As he looked at the contract in his hands, the expression on his face gradually became perplexed.
Ye Moxuan is really giving everything to Muzi. The day she legally becomes Mrs. Ye, half of Ye Moxuan’s shares would automatically fall under her name. If they were to get divorced halfway down the road or if anything were to happen to him, everything under his name—including his shares and inheritance—would be hers. That would also mean that Ye Moxuan would be left with nothing if they got divorced. He wouldn’t get a single—no, not even a single; he wouldn’t even get half a penny. No wonder he seemed so content. He had already given up everything, so he had no reason to fear my refusal.
Han Qing let out a heavy sigh. Muzi… How did you end up with such a difficult man?
If it were not for his deep feelings for her, what man would willingly give up all his inheritance for a woman? Not to mention, without her knowledge.
