Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 691
When Han Muzi went to work on Monday, she noticed, from afar, a huge crowd had gathered in front of the entrance of the company. She was surprised. What was going on?
It was abnormal for so many people to be gathered around her company so early in the morning—they did not have that many clients. Even if they had that many clients, they wouldn’t gather in a crowd like this.
As they got closer, she recognized the posture of these people. She remembered it from the time she was overseas and had often been chased after by the paparazzi—they were all reporters.
What’s going on? Did something happen to the company? She asked Ye Moxuan’s driver to stop the car somewhere nearby, then called Yan. There should have been others who had arrived earlier than her considering she wasn’t early to work today. Thus, she had better ask them about the situation first.
Just as she prepared to make the call, her phone started ringing. She took a look at the screen and saw that it was Yan calling. She answered the call immediately.
As soon as she pressed the button to answer the call—before she could even say anything—she heard Yan’s anxious voice coming through the phone. “Muzi, have you arrived at the company? If you haven’t, then take your time. There’s a lot of reporters at the entrance of our company.”
Han Muzi kept quiet. Looking at the dark mass from afar, she pursed her red lips. “I’m in the vicinity of the company.”
“Then you definitely must not go near the company entrance! There are too many reporters there!”
“What’s going on? Why are there so many reporters? Have you found out what’s going on?”
Yan’s voice on the phone was breathless as she explained, “My God! Don’t you, as the person involved, know what’s going on?”
The person involved? Suspicions rose in Han Muzi’s heart. I should know what’s going on?
“Right now, I’m afraid the whole country knows about you. From today onward, even if they don’t recognize you, they’ll probably still know who you are. Do you really have no idea why there are so many reporters here suddenly?”
Han Muzi remained silent. Yan’s explanation made her feel even more lost and confused instead. She furrowed her eyebrows slightly. “What the hell is going on? Hurry up and tell me.”
It stood to reason that even if her identity as a designer was known to the world, it still wouldn’t cause this much of an uproar. It wasn’t as if she was a celebrity. Even if she were a celebrity, it was still impossible for the entire country to know about her. That was why Han Muzi felt so confused.
“Oh God, I seriously want to strangle you to death. How can you not know what’s going on? Fine. Let me ask you. On the way here, did you not notice anything different?”
Notice something different on the way to the company? She blinked several times. For the past two days, she had been with Ye Moxuan, and he held her every night as they slept. Moreover, last night… Recalling the events of the night before, she coughed lightly, and an uncomfortable expression flitted across her face.
She had been very sleepy on the way to the company, so she had leaned back against the seat and took a short nap. However, she poked her head out and looked around after listening to Yan’s words. At first, she couldn’t notice anything out of place, but she later noticed a familiar figure in the distance…
It seemed to be of herself. That photo… was probably taken at a celebration party she had gone to in the past after winning an award abroad.
Why is this picture being displayed in the city’s scrolling billboard? Could it be that someone was helping to promote her? Unfortunately, it was too far away and she couldn’t make out the words. Han Muzi called out, “Mr. Lin, can you please move the car back? Somewhere around that spot.”
She relayed the direction to Mr. Lin. He was her chauffeur, one that Ye Moxuan had specially hired to fetch her to and fro Seabay Villa.
Mr. Lin nodded and reversed the car to the spot she had indicated. As the car pulled to a stop, she rolled down the window and earnestly studied the poster. Now that they were closer, she could finally make out the words and the poster on the billboard.
She scrutinized it for a moment, then her face flushed beet-red. Ye Moxuan, that b*stard… How could he? Without my consent…
Mr. Lin had noticed it along the way while driving, but since the future Young Lady Ye had been resting with her eyes closed the whole way, he did not bother her. Seeing that she had asked him to reverse the car for her to look at it, he couldn’t help but smile slightly. “Young Master Ye is truly thoughtful.”
Han Muzi kept quiet. Hearing Mr. Lin’s words, she couldn’t help but bite on her lower lip.
He was thoughtful alright. In fact, he wasn’t just thoughtful; he was full of schemes too! How could he not mention something so important to her? She had been in the dark until now! That b*stard! How can he go overboard like this just because he successfully proposed to me?
Thinking about it, she angrily called Ye Moxuan. Receiving her phone call, he answered with a gentle voice, “Did you miss me already?”
“To hell with missing you!” she cursed at him straightaway. “What’s the deal with the poster?”
His low laughter carried over from the other end of the phone. After a moment, he asked her, “Are you satisfied?”
“Satisfied about what?” she asked.
“With everything that I’ve done, like announcing to the world that you’re about to become Mrs. Ye. Now that everybody knows you’re about to marry me, let’s see how you intend to escape in the future.”
Let’s see how you intend to escape in the future. That sentence made her heart stop for a moment. What’s this b*stard going on about so suddenly? Does he think that I’m going to leave him?
“Did you do all these…” Han Muzi lifted her gaze to look at the scrolling poster and broadcasted messages outside, and a complicated look flashed across her beautiful eyes. She continued, “Because you’re afraid that I’d leave you?”
There was a long pause on the other side of the phone before he gently refuted, “That’s not it. It wasn’t because I was scared that you’d leave me. Even if you escaped from me, I’d still chase you until you’re back in my arms anyway. This is just a sign of my sincerity. Everything that I owe you from before, I’ll make it up to you. Muzi, this is my sincerity to you.”
The silence dragged on. She felt that her heart was beating abnormally. Although she knew that the words had been transmitted through the phone, she still glanced over uncomfortably at Mr. Lin who was driving in front, feeling extremely embarrassed.
She pulled her gaze away, lowered her voice, and uttered, “Well, right now there’s a big crowd in front of my company’s entrance—no thanks to you. How am I supposed to get in?”
Ye Moxuan burst out laughing. “Isn’t that great? Your company is getting free publicity too!”
“Ye Moxuan!” Han Muzi was outraged. Right now, there was such a huge crowd in front of her company that she couldn’t even enter, and he still dared to joke around with her.
“It’s okay.” Probably because he was afraid of her anger, his voice became even gentler—carrying a hint of mollycoddling—as he coaxed her, “It’s only because the news had just come out that the reporters are frantically trying to interview you. It’ll blow over in a few days. Why don’t you have Mr. Lin turn the car around and drive you to my company?”
“To your company?” she asked.
“Yeah. Change up your working environment and spend some time with your future husband. Isn’t that a great idea?”
She was speechless. To think that she had believed in his evil intentions! This b*stard!
She gritted her teeth and snapped, “Who would want to work with you? In your dreams!” Annoyed, she hung up on him immediately.
Mr. Lin watched the scene from his seat with a grin. Han Muzi suddenly noticed a problem when she ended the call. Considering how her company had already been blocked like this, and that reporters were the best at digging up information… If they were able to find my company, what about Little Bean’s school? Sh*t!
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 692
As the thought crossed her mind, Han Muzi had no time to consider other matters carefully; she immediately told Mr. Lin to turn the car around.
“Are we heading there now, Young Lady Ye?”
“Yes.” She nodded her head grimly. She had to check out the situation at the school’s entrance. If the reporters had surrounded the school as well, wouldn’t it affect Little Bean?
Mr. Lin saw her grim expression and immediately turned the car around and headed toward the direction she mentioned.
To her surprise, when they arrived at the entrance of the school, she found that the area around the entrance was unexpectedly quiet—there was not a reporter in sight. She was a little surprised. Her company entrance was packed with reporters, but there was not a single one of them in sight at the entrance of the school. What’s going on?
Mulling over it, she finally spoke, “It should be fine now. Let’s head over to Ye Group.”
“Yes, Young Lady Ye.”
After arriving at Ye Group, she found that no reporters were gathered around the building either. She had gone to three places this morning, and of the three, only her company entrance had been packed so tightly with reporters. Why was that? Was she such a pushover?
For some reason, the answer came to mind instantly—the reporters probably didn’t dare to provoke Ye Moxuan, so they had all single-mindedly flooded toward her company.
“Young Lady Ye, should I call Young Master Ye?”
“There’s no need for that. I’ll look for him directly. Mr. Lin, thank you for accompanying me all over the place today. You can head back and rest first.”
Mr. Lin thought it over. Since Han Muzi was going to look for Ye Moxuan, he would serve no purpose even if he continued to wait around, so he nodded. “Understood, Young Lady Ye. If you need my services, please give me a call.”
“Thank you, Mr. Lin.”
Once Mr. Lin drove away, she walked into Ye Group alone.
She failed to notice a group of reporters hiding not too far away in a hidden corner. There were quite a few of them there, but not as many as there were at the entrance of her company.
“Did you see that? I told you waiting here would be the right choice, didn’t I? We finally caught a glimpse of her! Hurry up and take a picture!”
“F*ck, why is the person in the picture so tiny? How are we going to publish this picture? It’s so blurry. Make sure your hand holding the camera doesn’t tremble!”
“Are you blind? How is my hand trembling? It’s just that the person in the picture is way too small! You chose this spot! How do you expect me to take a photo from this distance?”
“D*mn it!”
The group of people hiding far away from the main entrance grumbled resentfully. “It’s too far. It’s useless trying to take a photo from this distance. Moreover, we can’t even get a shot of the front view. F*ck, why is Ye Group so terrifying?”
Han Muzi failed to notice them as she walked into the lobby. She was familiar with the place and finding Ye Moxuan was easy, but she was not a member of the company. Therefore, she followed the procedure for guests and walked up to the front desk.
The poster had been on the billboard for so long that all the employees of Ye Group had already discussed it among themselves. The Internet was also full of news regarding Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan.
When Han Muzi walked up to the front desk, the receptionist was just about to inquire whether she had an appointment. When she looked up, the receptionist realized… Isn’t this the future wife of Ye Group? How could she possibly dare to ask about other matters? The receptionist immediately blurted out, “Young Lady Ye.”
The words on Han Muzi’s lips were cut off before she could even say them; she looked at the receptionist blankly. “How did you… know?”
“Are you here to meet Young Master Ye, Young Lady Ye? I’ll show you the way. This is the President’s elevator—it’s the fastest way for you to reach the top, Young Lady Ye.” As she finished her sentence, the receptionist pressed the elevator button for Han Muzi. When the elevator doors opened, the receptionist politely added, “Please watch your step, Young Lady Ye.”
The corners of Han Muzi’s mouth twitched involuntarily. “Thank you.”
The receptionist suddenly widened her eyes in a pleasant surprise. “Young Lady Ye, you are too courteous! Please, go ahead!” Then, she pressed the button to close the doors.
When the elevator doors closed, Han Muzi stood alone in the small space. She leaned against the wall and wondered what kind of expression Ye Moxuan would have when he saw her.
Although he had asked her over the phone to come over to his company as a change of scenery, she didn’t prepare anything with her. She would most likely just lie around doing nothing in his company today. After all, the entrance of her company was swarming with reporters; if she showed up there, she would probably be crushed by the reporters before she could even step into the company.
Just thinking about it gave her a headache and it was all thanks to Ye Moxuan. She clenched her fist at the thought. Just you wait and see how I’m going to deal with you!
She knew where his office was; when the elevator doors opened, she headed directly toward his office. Pushing open his office doors, she found that it was empty without a person in sight.
“Ye Moxuan?” she looked around but still couldn’t find him.
That’s weird, where did he go? She walked toward the lounge, but nobody was there either. Where could he be? She walked out of the office and was about to look for somebody to ask when she coincidentally ran into Xiao Su.
“Young Lady Ye?” When Xiao Su saw Han Muzi, he froze as he was surprised by her sudden appearance there.
“I…” She awkwardly smiled and explained, “The entrance to my company was blocked by a bunch of reporters and I couldn’t get in, so I decided to come and look for Ye Moxuan.”
Hearing that, Xiao Su understood immediately; he was in charge of the expenditures for the posters, so he naturally knew how it would have affected her.
“I see. But Young Master Ye has just entered the meeting room, Young Lady Ye. I forgot to bring along some documents, and that’s why I…”
In a meeting? Han Muzi blinked. “It’s fine. Please continue with your meeting. I’ll just stay in his office for a while.”
“Would you be bored, Young Lady Ye? Shall I let Young Master Ye know? If he knows you’re here, he would definitely—”
“Don’t!” Hearing him say that, Han Muzi hurriedly interrupted him. “Don’t tell him! Ye Group’s meetings are such important matters. Just let him know after the meeting.” If he refused to attend meetings because of her, what would people say about her behind her back? Moreover, she too did not wish for her presence here to affect his work.
Naturally, Xiao Su wouldn’t dare defy orders from Young Lady Ye; he nodded right away. “I understand, Young Lady Ye. I’ll go and retrieve the required documents.”
“Alright.” Han Muzi followed him into the office and sat down on the sofa. Then, she took out her phone and saw a notification as soon as she turned it on. It was about North City’s Ye Group….
Seeing those words, she felt a headache coming on and reached up to massage her temples. That b*stard! Just how much did he spend on all these marketing ploys? Does he think all these things are free of charge?
At the same time, in a western restaurant.
When Meng Xueyou saw the poster on the scrolling billboard opposite, she dropped the plates she was holding—containing the steaks to be served to the guests—in a fit of rage, attracting the attention of countless people around her. “What’s going on?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 693
“Is there something wrong with that girl? I saw her drop the plates while she was walking. It seemed like it was on purpose.”
Meng Xueyou ignored them; she rushed behind the counter and entered the restroom, then took out her phone to check the news online. When she confirmed what she saw was the truth, she was so angry she clenched her fingers tightly and threw her phone in a fit of fury.
Bang! Her phone flew into the mirror with an earth-shattering crash before sliding down and falling into the sink.
However, this was not enough to calm the flames of her fury. She picked up her phone again. It just so happened that the screen showed a picture of Han Muzi in a formal dress; the picture showcased Han Muzi’s pale, white skin and long neck. It showed off her exquisiteness from head to toe.
All of this should belong to me! Meng Xueyou felt a deep sorrow in her heart; she picked up her phone and smashed it into the mirror, over and over again.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang, bang! The loud noises continued to ring out from the restroom.
An employee outside frowned when he heard the sound. “What’s that noise? It seems to be coming from the restroom.”
“Shhh, shut your mouth! Who else but that two-faced b*tch would dare act so arrogantly? I don’t even know how many of the mirrors she has already broken in the restroom.”
“What would she be afraid of? Even if she breaks a mirror, it would just be replaced for her. It’s not like she risks losing anything.”
“That’s true. Even if she trashed the entire store, it’d be resolved after a good night’s sleep.”
Meng Xueyou had been smashing her phone against the mirror crazily—as if she was possessed. She felt a sharp pain in her fingers and only then did she come to her senses. She noticed that a piece of the shattered mirror had pierced her hand.
The sight of fresh blood cleared her thoughts. She observed the red blotch on her finger, as well as the mirror and her phone that had been smashed beyond recognition; she bit her lower lip resentfully.
Why? Why? Why is that b*tch so blessed? In the beginning, Meng Xueyou had been acting for so long while trembling in fear inside, but Han Qing was indifferent toward her. After that, even when she told Ye Moxuan that she was pregnant with his child, he wouldn’t believe her.
But what about Han Muzi? From the beginning, Han Muzi was a woman with a failed marriage. She even married into the Ye Family while pregnant with an illegitimate child, yet she was loved by Ye Moxuan.
What kind of world is this? Why are the men so insane? Meng Xueyou threw aside her phone and touched her face. Why am I not good enough? How am I incomparable to Han Muzi? I clearly… don’t lose to her in any way! So why is God so against me?
…
Han Muzi sat on the sofa for quite a long while. She was unaware that she fell asleep and only realized it when she woke up with a start. Glancing at her phone, she saw that only a little over 30 minutes had passed.
When she was still working at Ye Group, she knew that their meetings would usually stretch across several hours. The company was a large conglomerate, after all, so there were many people discussing business. She estimated that she would have to wait here for Ye Moxuan until noon. She thought this wasn’t a bad idea—if she waited until noon, then they could go for lunch together. Therefore, she got up and stretched, then brought her phone with her to the lounge.
She wasn’t sure why, but recently whenever she saw a sofa or bed, she would feel extremely sleepy. She wasn’t sure if it was because she hadn’t slept well last night. She saw the bed in the lounge, which looked incredibly inviting, and lay down on it to sleep. She fell asleep in no time at all.
She didn’t know how long she had slept. Her phone vibrated slightly, thereupon her eyelashes fluttered then she opened her eyes and looked at her phone. It seemed like someone had sent her a message. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and picked up her phone to take a look.
Sure enough, someone had sent her a message. She glanced through the contents of the message. She thought she had read it wrongly and re-read it carefully. She sat up straight and brooded quietly. In the next moment, another message came in.
Han Muzi was too sleepy so she couldn’t be bothered to deal with this person—especially since this person had threatened her before. She put her phone aside and lay down again, preparing to continue her nap.
Probably anxious after not receiving a reply for some time, the person called her directly. Han Muzi was extremely annoyed as she answered the phone. “What do you want?” her voice was as cold as tundra, without even a hint of warmth.
Meng Xueyou… Five years ago, they broke off their friendship. Five years after that, the things that she had done to Han Muzi… had completely destroyed any lingering affection that was left between them.
“Qi—” At the mention of ‘Qi’, Han Muzi felt like crying and she went into a trance.
Time seemed to rewind to many years ago when Han Muzi and Meng Xueyou were like sisters to each other. At that time, they got along very well and did everything together—whether it was eating, sleeping, or even bathing.
At the time, Meng Xueyou still remembered her debt toward Han Muzi who had helped her. Therefore, she would share all the good stuff with Han Muzi, effectively spending more money on Han Muzi than she did on herself.
At that time, Han Muzi thought that she would remain best friends with Meng Xueyou forever. She didn’t expect that even her identity… would be snatched away. Hah, how ridiculous that was.
“Don’t call me that. I can’t stand it.” Recalling the past, Han Muzi coldly interrupted Meng Xueyou’s words.
There was silence for a while from the other end of the phone, then came a sobbing voice. “Qi, do you still blame me? The previous incidents… It wasn’t on purpose. I know I was in the wrong. I must have been possessed to have done all those things. I regretted it afterward, and that’s why I kept making it up to you. You know that too!”
“That’s right.” Han Muzi curved her red lips; her smile and her expression were extremely derisive. “I do know that. You have always treated me very well. Everything that you bought for yourself, you’d buy for me too. You’d even buy stuff for me that you wouldn’t even buy for yourself. At the time, you told me that it was because we were the best of friends. However, I only found out afterward that it was all because of your guilty conscience. Because you stole my identity, every time you used my identity to buy something, you’d feel very guilty, so you’d buy me the same thing to comfort yourself. Isn’t that right?”
“Qi… I understand that I was wrong. Now you’re the young miss of the Han Family, and I… am nothing more than a clown with nothing to my name. I’ve received my karma. Won’t you please forgive me?
Han Muzi said nothing and narrowed her eyes. She couldn’t believe it. Meng Xueyou actually came begging for her forgiveness? Based on the events from five years ago, Meng Xueyou was not the kind of person that would come asking her for forgiveness. She squinted and asked unhappily, “Just what do you want?”
“I-I just want to ask for your forgiveness. I’ve really repented. Qi, won’t you meet with me?”
Meet with her?
“Now that things have progressed to this point, do you think that even if I was willing to meet with you, it would change anything? Xueyou, on account of our previous relationship as best friends, I will overlook all the sh*tty things that you’ve done to me—including the stalking incident. However, if you play any other dirty tricks, I’ll take it directly to the lawyers. If we meet again, it would be in court.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 694
“Qi, do you have to be so cruel to me? I know I have done a lot of wrong things, and that’s why I had to call you to beg for your forgiveness. But what about you? Why won’t you even give me a single chance? Won’t you meet me just once, on account of the love we used to have for each other? Is that okay?”
Han Muzi did not want to meet up with her. Based on all the horrible things that Meng Xueyou had done in the past, and with the stalking incident weighing in as well, she did not know what else Meng Xueyou would do to her. Moreover, the timing of the phone call from Meng Xueyou was just far too convenient to be coincidental.
Meng Xueyou had called her as soon as the poster came out on the scrolling billboard, indicating that the former had probably seen the poster and was probably harboring evil intentions toward her. It was possible that if she met with Meng Xueyou alone, she would be met with an accident.
It was very saddening to think that they, who were once the best of friends, were now so wary of each other. However, she had no regrets about rejecting Meng Xueyou.
“No, I’m hanging up. Don’t you ever call me or message me again. If you harass me again, I really won’t hold back anymore.” She dismissed Meng Xueyou’s invitation with a cold voice; she did not want to have anything to do with Meng Xueyou anymore.
“Han Muzi!” As soon as Meng Xueyou heard that she was going to hang up, Meng Xueyou became agitated and screeched out her name. Inadvertently frowning at the sharp screeching voice, Han Muzi’s beautiful eyes darkened slightly. Had Meng Xueyou finally lost her cool?
Sure enough, in the next second, she heard Meng Xueyou yelling at her, “Han Muzi, who do you think you are? Do you think you’re some hotshot now just because you became the Young Lady of the Han Family? Oh, that’s not right either. You’re about to become the Young Lady of the Ye Family! How amazing you must be! So much so that you’ve forgotten about all the help I gave you! You should know in your heart just how much I comforted you when you were facing all sorts of grievances after you married into the Ye Family! Now all I’m asking for is to meet with you again, yet you refused me!”
Han Muzi said nothing. She reached up to massage her temples. It felt like her head hurt even more after her sleep was disturbed. She brooded quietly, then she spoke up in reply. “You’re right. I did suffer a lot when I first married into the Ye Family. Speaking of which, I have to thank you for all the care you’ve shown me. You took the initiative to investigate the truth on that rainy night, gave me false results, and led me to create false impressions of that night. I’ve also recalled that you were still trying to match me with Ye Linhan at the time, weren’t you?” Having said that, Han Muzi couldn’t help but laugh softly, but her soft laughter was full of mockery and bitterness.
“At the time, you told me that it was for my own good, saying that you were worried that I wouldn’t be happy if I were together with Ye Linhan… Do you know, Xueyou, just how much I blindly and unconditionally trusted you back then? I believed every single thing as long as you were the one that said it. But, in the end… the investigation results were fake, that stuff about it being all for my own good was a lie, and you even stole my identity! Now, let me guess… not only were you not grateful toward me when I first helped you out, you even went so far as to steal my identity! Meng Xueyou, is the grass always greener on the other side? Be it identity or men, you want to snatch it all.”
There was no response. When she finished speaking, Han Muzi heard heavy breathing sounds coming from the other end of the phone. It sounded like Meng Xueyou had trouble breathing.
“I guess you know everything now,” Meng Xueyou spat bitterly.
Several moments passed, then she heard Meng Xueyou sobbing’s voice cry out harshly, “Did you think I wanted to do that? Han Muzi, did you think I wanted to snatch everything from you? My mother abandoned me when I was little, and my father was a gambler who drank every time he lost and beat me up when he came home. The people in school looked down on me and treated me like trash! I needed power! Wealth is the only thing that changes everything! Do you know? Ever since I became the Young Lady of the Han Family, all those people who treated me badly had to bow their heads at me! They had to suck up to me! That’s the reality of the world! If it wasn’t for all these things, I couldn’t care less about snatching away your identity! You don’t understand anything! You don’t know how much pain I had to go through!”
“Until now, do you still not understand?” Han Muzi said.
“What do I need to understand?”
“You felt that the world was unfair toward you, so you snatched it all from someone else and took it all for yourself! Have you ever thought about how I felt? Forget it; even after things have come to this point, you still haven’t changed your tune. It seems like you will never change. Anyway, let me give you some advice. You’re on your own now.” Han Muzi planned to end the call after she had finished speaking.
However, Meng Xueyou started screeching on the other end of the phone. “Han Muzi! I shouldn’t be on my own now! You’re the root of all my suffering! What right do you have to live freely and happily? Let me tell you; do you think Ye Moxuan wants to marry you? No! He does not! He just feels that he owes you for what happened five years ago and wants to make it up to you! If he loved you, you wouldn’t have separated five years ago! Even if you married him and became his wife, you’ll never be happy! I curse you! I curse you so that you will never be together! Even if you’re together, you will never be happy!”
Toot-toot-toot… Meng Xueyou was still cursing hysterically when the dial tone indicating the call was cut off sounded through the phone. She froze for a moment then frantically tried to call again but found that she had been blocked.
Han Muzi had planned to end the call peacefully, but when she heard Meng Xueyou’s hysterical cursing, she flew into a rage and her face was flushed. She nimbly ended the call and added the number to the Blocked List.
Even after doing that, the words Meng Xueyou said while cursing her continued to echo in her head. Her voice and words were so shrill and resentful that it had deeply disturbed her.
Han Muzi faintly noticed that her fingers were trembling. She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths to calm herself down. When she opened her eyes again, she put away her phone and lay back down. It was beyond her expectations that even best friends could turn against each other to such a degree. The last time she saw Meng Xueyou in the restaurant, she had felt sad and torn over it. In the end, she felt relief.
Some people were probably destined to only have a small fated meeting between them throughout their entire lives. Once that fate had been exhausted, it seemed like it was impossible for both their lives to intertwine again. However, she didn’t expect Meng Xueyou’s jealousy to be so strong that she would call her at this point. Her eyelids weighed down heavily as she pondered; no matter what she did, she could not calm down. Despite how sleepy she was, she could not fall asleep.
Giving up, Han Muzi sat up and took out her phone to watch some variety shows. After watching a couple, she gradually forgot what Meng Xueyou had said to her and her mind slowly went back to a calm state. She put down her phone and went back to sleep.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 695
The meeting dragged on for a very long time. When it ended, everyone started packing up their stuff in preparation to leave the meeting room.
Xiao Su had endured for several hours. There were a few times when he looked at Ye Moxuan’s stern side profile, and he nearly leaned toward Ye Moxuan’s ear to blurt out, ‘Young Lady Ye is here, she’s waiting for you in your office.’ However, considering Han Muzi had specifically told him not to inform Young Master Ye about her arrival, Xiao Su resisted the impulse and held his tongue.
Therefore, the moment the meeting ended, Xiao Su stepped forward and leaned closed to Ye Moxuan, speaking softly, “Young Master Ye.”
Ye Moxuan’s gaze did not leave the document as his lips moved slightly. “Speak.”
“Young Lady Ye—”
The moment the words left his mouth, Ye Moxuan’s fingers froze mid-motion. He then raised his head quickly and looked at Xiao Su.
The sharp gaze startled Xiao Su and he took a step back involuntarily. “Y-Young Master Ye—”
“What were you going to say?” Ye Moxuan stared at him; he had heard Xiao Su mention Han Muzi and was sure that he had not heard wrongly.
“Young Master Ye… I meant to tell you that the Young Lady Ye is here. She is waiting for you in your office.” As soon as the words came out, he watched as Ye Moxuan immediately stood up and headed out the meeting room without even bothering to clear his documents. My God, no wonder Young Lady Ye wouldn’t let me inform him! It’s crazy how Young Master Ye is acting!
Xiao Su chased after him. “Young Master Ye, Young Master Ye!”
Ye Moxuan stopped a little impatiently. “Yes?”
“I just wanted to inform you that Young Lady Ye has been here for a couple of hours now, Young Master Ye. She had instructed me not to inform you of her arrival until after the meeting.”
At first, Ye Moxuan started frowning, but his eyebrows gradually smoothened out. As if mulling over something, he pressed the tip of his tongue against his teeth, and his eyes darkened considerably.
“I see. Tidy up the things here.” He then left the meeting room.
Xiao Su resignedly cleared up the documents; he could only blame himself for being Ye Moxuan’s assistant.
Ye Moxuan walked back to his office without stopping. Pushing open the doors, he found the place empty. Where’s Han Muzi? His eyes swept across the room and he noticed the door to the lounge was closed lightly.
He strode over. As he approached the door to the lounge, he deliberately silenced his footsteps. Pushing open the door to the lounge, he saw the figure of the person he was longing for.
Han Muzi lay on the bed in the lounge—her black hair messy from sleep and her bare face facing upward—with the blanket halfway over her.
Ye Moxuan watched her for a while. He quietly walked over, leaned down, and covered her properly with the blanket. After adjusting the blanket, he couldn’t bring himself to straighten his body; he intently studied the beautiful woman who was sleeping quietly. Recalling Xiao Su’s words previously, he reached out his hand and softly stroked her cheeks—his actions as gentle as could be.
“Silly woman, I don’t need you to worry about me. If you’ve arrived then just let me know. You’re so silly. Why would you lie here all alone for so long?” He knew that his words were simply a monologue. After all, she was asleep and would not be able to hear his words. However, her calm expression changed suddenly in the next moment; she looked pained and her delicate brows furrowed tightly.
Realizing that something was wrong, he took a closer look at her and noticed that her milky white forehead was beaded with cold sweat. What’s wrong? He decided to call out her name softly. “Muzi?”
She didn’t seem to hear him calling her; her breathing became short and rapid as if she was having a terrible nightmare.
Watching her like this, he felt overwhelmed with anxiety despite his manly facade; he wasn’t sure what to do, but he didn’t dare to wake her up abruptly. He could only continue to call out her name softly. He wasn’t sure how long he had been calling her name, but then Han Muzi’s eyes snapped open suddenly and she yelled in fright at the handsome face looming right in front of her face.
“Don’t be scared!” He hugged her tightly by her shoulders. “It’s me. It’s me.”
Han Muzi didn’t reply. The familiar low, hoarse voice in her ears seemed to comfort her. She remained frozen in shock for a long while, her mind still reeling from the terrifying scenes from before. Her heart was racing and her breathing was unstable. To make matters worse, her eyelids were twitching uncontrollably. She had an ominous feeling. Could it be due to Meng Xueyou’s curses from before?
“What’s wrong?” Seeing that she had calmed down, Ye Moxuan tenderly wiped away the beads of cold sweat on her forehead with his hand. Spotting the cold sweat on the tip of her nose as well, he lowered his head and covered it with his thin lips.
She came back to her senses and intentionally avoided his thin lips. It was bad enough that he would normally wipe away her tears. Now he wanted to lap up her cold sweat—it was just too much for her heart to take.
As she tried to avoid him, he simply held the back of her head with one hand and caught her soft cheeks with the other, not allowing her to escape by even an inch.
“Don’t—” she couldn’t move away and could only try to stop him with her words.
Ye Moxuan pretended not to have heard her. Licking up her sweat bit by bit, his black eyes gradually darkened. When he backed away a little and saw her self-loathing expression, he laughed softly. “Why are you avoiding me? I’m not disgusted by you.”
Han Muzi chewed on her lower lip. “I am disgusted by myself.”
“Did you have a nightmare?” he asked as he leaned over, touching his forehead against hers.
Speaking of the nightmare, she felt another sense of lingering fear; she nodded her head in response and hugged his slim waist. “It was a scary dream; I’m still… afraid of it. Let me lean on you,” she nuzzled her head against his chest and said gloomily.
He hugged her and murmured, “Sure, you can stay there as long as you’d like.” Lowering his head, he pressed his thin lips against her forehead. “What was the dream about? Will you tell me?”
The person in his arms shook her head without a sound, clearly unwilling to conjure up the dream again.
“If you don’t feel like talking, then don’t think about it anymore. You’ve slept through the whole morning; are you hungry? Why don’t I bring you out for lunch in a short while?”
Nestled in his arms, she still felt a little sleepy; her eyelids were twitching uncontrollably when she woke up just now, but now… it was a lot better.
“I’m still a little sleepy. I don’t feel like eating.” She suddenly became aware of how spoiled she was acting as she said that. Why did it feel like she was acting cute toward him? She was already an adult, not to mention a mother; how could she…
She felt awkward just thinking about it. How she wished she could just pretend that she hadn’t said anything.
“You can’t skip meals. What would you do if you got hungry? You need to eat your three meals on time. If you don’t feel like going out, why don’t we order in?” He took out his phone to order takeout as he spoke.
“What do you feel like eating?” Ye Moxuan opened the takeout website and placed the phone in front of Han Muzi.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 696
Since he had already placed the phone with the order page in front of her, Han Muzi decided not to put it off anymore. She took the phone over and had a look at it. Initially, she did not feel that hungry, but as she was going through the menu, she realized there were many things that she wanted to eat.
Han Muzi picked a number of them. After putting the order in, she realized she might have ordered a little too much, so she embarrassingly returned the phone to Ye Moxuan. “That’s all.”
Since he was still holding her, the whole time the phone was in her hands, Ye Moxuan was watching her. When she returned the phone to him, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Just these few? Will that be enough?”
Han Muzi was immediately agitated. She responded, “Do you think I am a pig? We already have more than enough.”
Ye Moxuan lowered his head and smiled. His lean fingers swiped across the phone screen and added a few more. After that, he placed the order for delivery.
After they had done that, Han Muzi continued to stay in Ye Moxuan’s arms. “Are you done with your meeting?”
Talking about the meeting reminded Ye Moxuan of the few hours she had waited for him here. He pursed his lips and said, “Next time, you don’t have to wait at all whenever you come and find me.”
Han Muzi responded, “Even if you are in a meeting? Wouldn’t I be interrupting the meeting—”
Before she could finish the sentence, Ye Moxuan suddenly lowered his head and blew his warm breath into her ear. “Nothing is more important than you.”
This guy… Ever since the proposal, he had been good at sweet-talking. Though that was what he said, Han Muzi still felt that if he was busy the next time she visited, she would not go in and interrupt him while he was at work. After all, she was not a needy person. She was not the kind of person who would demand that the other person immediately put down everything that they were doing to accompany her. She was not pigheaded, and she would never be this headstrong.
Love should mean mutual tolerance and understanding. Ye Moxuan and her had come a long way, so she had to cherish and take care of him.
The takeout they ordered arrived quickly. Shortly after, Xiao Su was already bringing the food up to the office. He gently knocked on the lounge door and said, “Young Master Ye, the food that you and Young Lady Ye ordered is here. I will leave them on the table.”
“Sure.” Ye Moxuan responded softly. He stood up and carried Han Muzi in his arms.
“Why are you carrying me? It’s just a few steps. I can walk there myself.”
Ye Moxuan smiled. “You seem to still be in a daze from your nap. It’s better if I just carried you there; otherwise, it would be horrible if you fell.”
Han Muzi did not know how to respond. How would she fall if she was just walking normally?
“Just admit that you wanted to carry me. Don’t use any nonsensical excuses,” Han Muzi mumbled.
Hearing that, Ye Moxuan immediately paused. He looked at her with his sharp eyes. Feeling embarrassed, Han Muzi quickly evaded his eyes. “Let’s go get our food.”
“You said earlier…”
“I didn’t say anything earlier.” Han Muzi closed her eyes as she no longer wanted to look him in the eyes. She then heard Ye Moxuan chuckle. It was a chuckle that sounded like he was going to let that go and continue walking.
Ye Moxuan was a germaphobe, so his office had always been extremely clean and tidy. The moment they stepped outside, they immediately saw two enormous bags sitting on the table. She looked around and seemingly found no spot where they could eat. She then commented, “Should we bring them back to the lounge? You are such a germaphobe, so it may not be best for us to eat here.”
Perhaps the office had always been too clean, so one little stain in this place would feel like blasphemy.
Ye Moxuan put her down and carried the two enormous bags with him. He then held her hand and walked toward the lounge. There was a table and some chairs. It was the perfect spot. And the office was definitely not the best place to eat.
Before they started eating, Han Muzi went to the bathroom to wash her face to freshen up. When she came out of the bathroom, Ye Moxuan had already laid everything out on the table.
Han Muzi sat down in front of the table, and before she picked up the chopsticks, there came an unusually greasy smell. She immediately felt that her stomach was churning, and it was going all the way up to her brain.
Han Muzi began to feel nauseous, so she reflexively covered her mouth with her hands and stormed into the bathroom.
Bam!
Ye Moxuan was just about to take some food for her before seeing her cover her mouth and run into the bathroom with a pale look on her face. He noticed that something was wrong, so he quickly followed her.
After closing the bathroom door, Han Muzi was leaning on the sink while she threw up. Nothing really came out and that made her feel extremely unwell.
Hearing Ye Moxuan calling for her outside the bathroom, Han Muzi tidied herself up and opened the door.
“Are you feeling unwell?” Seeing that her face had turned somewhat pale, Ye Moxuan immediately frowned and went up to her to grab her by her hand. “Let’s go to the hospital.”
Han Muzi shook her head. “There’s no need to go to the hospital. I was just feeling a little nauseous.”
“What’s going on?”
“I might have smelled something extremely greasy… and that made me nauseous,” Han Muzi responded, before looking at everything on the table. “Now I feel like… having something bland.”
Ye Moxuan was confused. He kept quiet for a moment before giving Xiao Su a call to ask him to come over and get rid of the food. Later on, he took Han Muzi with him to leave the office.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Han Muzi pondered for a few moments. “I feel like having vegetarian food. Is that okay?”
“Whatever you like. Of course.” Ye Moxuan then took her to a vegetarian restaurant where Han Muzi excitedly ordered quite a few dishes. This time around, she no longer had a nauseous feeling while eating.
As she gradually looked better, the anxiety that Ye Moxuan had slowly faded away. He initially planned on bringing her to the hospital to see if there was anything wrong with her body, but now it seemed like what happened earlier was merely because the food was not to her taste.
While the two were eating, Ye Moxuan felt a ray of cold light flash across from the corner of his eyes. He quickly threw a sharp gaze at the windows and met the eyes of a person who was secretly taking pictures of them.
Knowing that he was caught, the person froze for a moment and quietly left with his camera in his hands.
“What’s going on? Why are you not eating? Is it not nice?”
Han Muzi’s voice brought Ye Moxuan back to his senses. He looked at Han Muzi, who was worriedly staring at him. “I had this sudden craving for vegetarian food and I didn’t consider if you liked them or not. Do you…”
“It’s fine. I am not picky. I can eat whatever.”
“Oh.” She thought about the scrolling billboards and decided to talk to Ye Moxuan about it. “By the way, about those posters… Can we take them down? If they continue to stay there… It feels too high-profile.”
Ye Moxuan smiled gorgeously. “That’s the whole point of it. I am letting everyone know that you are going to be married to me. Why? Are you not happy that everyone is envious of you?”
It was not that she was unhappy; it was just that if it continued this way, she would no longer be able to go to work like a normal person…
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 697
“They sure know how to find an easy target. They wouldn’t come to your office, but they’re blocking the entrance of my company. Does that mean from now on I have to go to your office every day?”
Surprisingly, Ye Moxuan thought this might be a good idea. He nodded in agreement. “Yes, I don’t mind that.”
Han Muzi responded, “But I mind! A lot! I have my career, and I need to work!”
Ye Moxuan would never really want her to be at the office every day just to be with him. She had been working extremely hard for the past five years, so her career meant the world to her. As much as he would like to spend time with her every day, he knew full well that when two people were together, they still needed their own space. If this relationship would cost her the job that she loved, he would not feel very good about it.
“Don’t worry. If you don’t like it, I will ask Xiao Su to take care of the situation.”
Since Ye Moxuan had put it this way, it meant that he had already had it under control, so she should be able to go to work in peace. But Little Bean…
“By the way, about Little Bean… have you made any arrangements?”
“The media still has no idea about him yet, but… I have thought about it already. At a later stage, I will make arrangements to take care of his safety.”
“If Little Bean is hurt because of this, I will never forgive you!”
This made Ye Moxuan frown. “What did you just say?”
“What?”
“You will never forgive me because of Little Bean? Is he more important than me?”
Han Muzi did not know what to say. She felt she did not understand what he meant by that. She looked up at Ye Moxuan, and he was also earnestly looking at her. He did not seem like he was joking. Han Muzi felt as if she was choked, as it took her awhile before she could continue her question. “You are not jealous of your own son, are you?”
Though he was exposed, Ye Moxuan did not get upset. “I am his father, so how is he more important than me? That’s not fair.”
Again, Han Muzi was rendered speechless. He was actually competing with his own son. Han Muzi felt she could not continue this discussion with him, so she decided to put her head down to eat her food and ignore him. What else could she say if he was even jealous of his son? What else can I say?
She thought that as long as she stopped responding to this conversation, this incident would eventually pass. Who knew that after the meal, as they got in the car, Ye Moxuan would be frowning the whole time. During the whole car ride, he looked like he was bothered by something.
Han Muzi did not know what happened to him, but she felt that whatever happened earlier was already a thing of the past, so he was probably not bothered by that. She decided to just sit back.
Looking at the buildings outside the car window going backward as the car was moving, Han Muzi felt tired again. She yawned and then told Ye Moxuan, “Let me get some rest. Wake me up when we get there.”
Ye Moxuan moved his lips and looked at her, feeling conflicted. Seeing her closing her eyes immediately after she finished speaking, he decided to not utter the words that almost came out. How could Little Bean be more important than me?
Was that because he had been around her for five years? Ye Moxuan never thought that one day he would be jealous of his own son. Even though he knew that Little Bean was his offspring, the thought that Little Bean ranked higher than him in Han Muzi’s heart did not sit well with him.
D*mn it! And still, the little brat won’t call me ‘daddy’! Since Little Bean occupied an important place in Muzi’s heart, if he decided to speak ill of Ye Moxuan to Muzi, would that not completely ruin his image?
The more Ye Moxuan thought about it, the more he felt threatened. He then decided to drop Han Muzi off at Seabay Villa before leaving work early to pick up Little Bean himself.
After Han Muzi woke up, she realized she was already back in Seabay Villa while Ye Moxuan was nowhere to be seen. She took out her phone and found a text on WeChat from Ye Moxuan, telling her to get some rest and that he would be picking Little Bean up from school.
This text had put Han Muzi at ease. She then put down her phone and continued sleeping. Since she would not be able to be back in the office for these two days, she might as well wait until the whole situation was taken care of before attending to her work. Furthermore, she was exhausted. She fell back asleep in no time.
…
At the school, a vibrant looking limousine was parked at the entrance.
Little Bean went to an expensive private school in North City, where the teachers would see countless wealthy people every day. However, Ye Moxuan’s car, and the moment he got out of the car, still made them gasp in awe. Not just the teachers. Even the parents who were there.
Everyone knew about the Ye Group of North City and Ye Moxuan of the Ye Group, though more often than not they would only hear about it or read about it in the magazines. It was almost impossible for them to see the real person.
Thus, it was unexpected to see him at the school entrance, so everyone was wondering if he came to pick up his child.
Even though everyone knew Ye Moxuan was about to marry the daughter of the Han Group, Han Muzi, they did not know that he had a child. Therefore, when he was seen at the school entrance, everyone was surprised. Does he have a child already?
When Little Bean came out and saw that it was Ye Moxuan who was picking him up today, he let out a sigh of disapproval and stood stationary while still carrying his bag. He did not want to go forward. He stood there as if that little body of his was waiting for Ye Moxuan to walk toward him.
Ye Moxuan was here to pick Little Bean up; besides that, he was here to make him happy. After all… up to this point, Little Bean still would not call him ‘daddy’. This indicated that he was still not up to Little Bean’s standards. If he made any mistakes from now on, he reckoned Little Bean would completely disqualify him from being his father. What if Little Bean went up to Muzi later and complained to her about him…
Ye Moxuan felt that this was a concerning issue. He then waved at Little Bean to ask him to come over. Who knew Little Bean would just stand there—reluctant to move.
Everyone was staring at Ye Moxuan and not the child, who looked exactly like him.
Ye Moxuan and Little Bean stared at each other for a while before Ye Moxuan involuntarily walked toward Little Bean and kneeled before him. “Let’s go, Little Bean. Daddy is here to bring you home.”
“Ah!” Someone in the crowd screamed, “Everyone, look! The face of that child…”
Finally, everyone’s attention shifted from Ye Moxuan’s face to the child, and their eyes widened when they realized he was practically a miniature of Ye Moxuan.
“I-Is he Ye Moxuan’s son? Why does he look exactly like him?”
“Alas, how is it possible for two people to look that alike? Apart from him being his son, there is no better explanation.”
“But, when did Young Master Ye have a son? Didn’t you hear? Rumor has it that he has been abstaining himself from women.”
“I’ve only heard that Young Master Ye married a daughter from the Shen Family five years ago, but it seems like that woman was not presentable, so no one has ever seen her.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 698
“In that case, this child looks at least four to five years old. Could he be the child of the daughter of the Shen Family? But… isn’t Young Master Ye going to marry the Han Family’s daughter? Is he… the child of his ex-wife?”
“If there is a child, it must be difficult for the Han Family’s daughter. Rumor has it that she is Han Qing’s long-lost sister, whom he has been pampering since he found her. Would Han Qing be happy if his sister is going to be someone’s stepmother?”
“Though they look really good together, being a stepmother is surely a difficult thing. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes in these wealthy families? There might even be something shady going on behind this marriage.”
The gossips gradually floated over. The discussions became extremely loud—as if Ye Moxuan was non-existent.
In the beginning, Ye Moxuan did not want to pay any heed to them, but seeing how the discussions got heated, and especially when they began talking about Han Muzi, Ye Moxuan got extremely annoyed. The atmosphere around him began to feel intense.
“Uncle and aunties, you guys are bad. Since when my mommy said she’s going to be a stepmother?” Just as Ye Moxuan was about to yell, a pure, yet firm voice was heard.
Little Bean looked up, stared at those who were talking, and continued, “And my mommy has said before that talking behind other people’s back is a bad habit that I should never learn to do.” After that, Little Bean turned to look at Ye Moxuan and asked naively, “Are they bad people? Why are they saying bad things about Mommy?”
The chattering crowd went silent. This kid is way too outspoken. How did his mommy teach him?
How Little Bean condemned those people toward Ye Moxuan helped make his point. The first time Ye Moxuan saw the look on Little Bean’s face, he had sensed something familiar, but he never quite figured out where that familiarity came from. Now it hit him. That look… was almost the same as his. It was the look that he would occasionally see in the mirror. That was why he felt a sense of familiarity.
This little brat… Ye Moxuan put on a smile. He placed his hand on Little Bean’s head and approved of what he just did. “You’re right. They aren’t a good example. Kids should never learn from them. Also, your mommy is not going to become a stepmother by marrying me.”
The crowd was being put to shame by Ye Moxuan’s words. Shortly after that, they were again taken aback by what he said earlier about Han Muzi not being a stepmother. What did he mean by that?
“What did he mean by ‘not as a stepmother’? Is the Young Lady of the Han Family the birth mother of this child?”
“That doesn’t sound right… This child is pretty old. How could he be her biological son? If he is, does that mean that the Young Lady of the Han Family…”
“Oh my God. Was she the daughter of the Shen Family?”
“When you put it that way, it does seem probable. After all, the Han Family found their daughter five years ago.”
Everyone went quiet.
Little Bean blinked and innocently looked at everyone. “Congratulations, you got it right. My mommy did indeed return to the Han Family five years ago, but… because you are not a good example, there are no prizes for any of you for getting that one right.”
Ye Moxuan softly patted Little Bean’s head. “Alright, we are done talking. Let’s go home.” After saying that, he put out his hand to him, intending to hold his hand to walk back together.
Little Bean looked at the beefy palm and did not put his hand forward. Instead, he blinked and ignored that hand, before continuing walking with his short legs.
Ye Moxuan was stunned by that. He stared at Little Bean’s back and wondered why he had not accepted him. He then quickly ran toward him. Little Bean had already opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.
Ye Moxuan started driving while reminding Little Bean to put on his seat belt.
Little Bean turned over and looked at him. “Mister, is Mommy with you?”
Ye Moxuan did not know how to respond. It’s “Mister” again.
“Didn’t I tell you before to start calling me ‘Daddy’? Your mommy and I are getting married next month.”
“Oh.” Little Bean did not have any reactions after hearing that they were going to get married. ‘Oh’ was all that he said.
Ye Moxuan could not help but frown. He felt that Little Bean was a little stubborn and a lot harder to deal with than he imagined. What now?
After driving Little Bean home to Seabay Villa, the kid happily went to look for his mommy. He disappeared so quickly that Ye Moxuan did not even realize he was gone. As a father, Ye Moxuan felt frustrated. He took out his phone and sent a message to the company group chat.
The entire upper management of the company was in that group chat. By that time, they had already got off work and were getting ready to eat dinner. When all their phones received the notification, they all took it out and realized it was their boss who sent out a text in the group chat. Everyone instantly became nervous.
After all, under normal circumstances, Ye Moxuan would rarely participate in the group chat. Even if it was about work-related arrangements, it would be relayed through Xiao Su. Now that he sent out a text himself, everyone was caught by surprise. However, what worried them more was the fact that it must be an urgent instruction—for Ye Moxuan to issue it himself.
Everyone who was either eating or driving had to stop what they were doing to immediately unlock their phones and check the group chat. However, the moment they saw what Ye Moxuan had sent out, they began to doubt what they were seeing. Were they… mistaken?
They thought Ye Moxuan was giving out work-related instructions in the group chat, but when did that turn into a… question? And that question was—‘How do you please a child?’
Why did the great Young Master Ye need to please a child? It did not matter how he got distracted previously during a meeting and started asking about what kids would like, but why would he ask out of the blue in the group chat today about how to please a child?
While everyone was curiously wondering what that was all about, a text came through in the group chat.
‘Is Young Master Ye being disliked by a child?’
What?? In less than two seconds, everyone received another notification. A group chat member had just deleted a message.
The manager of the talent marketing department was extremely afraid when looking at the notification on the deleting of a message on the phone. Perhaps he was too quick in responding by sending out that message. Young Master Ye didn’t see that, did he? If Ye Moxuan saw what he wrote, he had no idea how mad he would get at him. Anyway, the manager of the talent marketing department was terrified and felt a chill down his spine.
Just as he was considering what else to say to salvage the situation, their boss sent out another message. ‘Who said I’m being disliked?’
When the manager of the talent marketing department saw that message, he almost passed out due to shock.
B-B-Boss saw my message? What was going to happen to him next? The manager contemplated for a long time to come up with a solution and to redeem himself. He then started frantically typing and sent out all the ways he had used in the past to please his child.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 699
Seeing how long that message was, Ye Moxuan decided to read through it multiple times.
As the rest saw how the manager of the talent marketing department had offered his solution, they had all decided to follow suit and come up with many different ways of pleasing a child while fighting to send them out.
Ye Moxuan looked at the messages for a long time, and his head started to hurt. He then decided to give Xiao Su a call.
At this point, Xiao Su was in the shower. He did not think too much about it when he heard the WeChat notifications on his phone until the notifications were piling in endlessly as if the phone was possessed.
He was still thinking who that bold person might be that dared to spam the group chat with so many messages. He told himself that when he got to his phone, he would block that person. Shortly after that… a call came in.
Normally, under this circumstance, only two kinds of people would call him—the first was the delivery man, the second was…
Xiao Su still had soap all over his body when he grabbed a towel and stormed out of the bathroom to answer the call. “Y-Young Master Ye?”
“Please summarize all the messages in the group chat later and send them to my email.”
“Messages in the group chat? Summarize?” He had missed all the messages in the group chat because he had been in the shower, so when he learned about this instruction from Ye Moxuan, Xiao Su was utterly confused.
Before he could even react, Ye Moxuan had already hung up the phone. Hearing that the call had ended, Xiao Su quickly opened the group chat on WeChat and frantically scrolled through it. It took him a while before he found out what was happening.
D*mn it! Are these people out of their minds? How did they send out so many messages while I was in the shower?
When he recalled that he had not finished taking his shower, he immediately put his phone down and went back to wash off all the soap on him. After he came out, he realized there was another thread of messages.
Xiao Su was at a loss for words. These d*mned guys! He did not even have time to eat before he had to busy himself with getting the information that Ye Moxuan asked for.
On the other side, when Little Bean came in and looked for Han Muzi, she was still sleeping—wrapped in her blanket. Little Bean came over and called her multiple times until she finally opened her eyes.
Finding Little Bean standing right in front of her, Han Muzi blinked her eyes. She looked somewhat surprised.
“Little Bean, why are you here? Did Daddy bring you home?” She lifted her blanket after speaking, signaling Little Bean to come in and snuggle with her in the blanket.
This was considered a normal interaction between them, as Little Bean used to sleep next to Han Muzi. He would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and when he came back, Han Muzi would subconsciously lift a corner of the blanket for him to crawl back in.
Sure enough, when he saw that a corner of the blanket was lifted, Little Bean quickly took off his shoes and crawled into the bed to be with Han Muzi. His tiny hands were as soft as cotton candy and they were wrapped around her slim waist; his warm touch made Han Muzi chuckle. She reached out and pinched Little Bean’s nose.
Little Bean seemed to be upset as he wrinkled his nose and avoided her eyes. “Bad Mommy, are you going to abandon me if he didn’t come and pick me up? My presence here doesn’t seem to make you happy!”
Han Muzi responded, “Who says I am not happy? How can you tell how I am feeling?”
“But you just asked me why I am here!”
“That’s because I was curious. Also, I just woke up, so my brain is not entirely awake. If I said something that hurt you, please forgive me.” After saying that, Han Muzi leaned forward and affectionately rubbed her cheek against Little Bean.
“Alright?” She lowered her voice while she softly and gently consoled Little Bean, who still had his hands around her waist.
Little Bean was indeed a little child. Normally, when he conversed with her, she felt that Little Bean was all grown up, and for him to be a little more independent, she gave him a room to himself. Right now, as she was looking at how he was in her arms, he still felt like a little child to her.
She used to think that Little Bean lacked fatherly love, and he would never feel complete no matter how much care and love she raised him with. But there was nothing to be afraid of anymore. Little Bean had a daddy who would coddle him, albeit five years later… However, it was not too late.
“Hmph. Naughty Mommy… since you have apologized to me, I’ll make an exception and forgive you!” Little Bean happily finished his words and kissed Han Muzi on her cheek.
The mother-son duo was enjoying their time with each other and a moment later, Han Muzi asked, “By the way, did you call him ‘Daddy’ today?”
Little Bean, who was in her arms, went silent for a few seconds before he started shaking his head.
Han Muzi continued, “Why did you not call him ‘Daddy’? Are you still reluctant to accept him?”
Little Bean unhappily pouted and responded, “I don’t want to call him ‘Daddy’.”
“Look… who was the one who kept asking me to find him a daddy? Now that I have found one for you, you are still refusing to call him ‘Daddy’. Why are you like this?”
Little Bean could not provide an adequate explanation in front of Han Muzi. He grunted, “Do you think that I am a handful now that you have Daddy? Is it because I don’t make money and I have to spend your money to go to college, while that mister is rich, so you’re starting to dislike me?”
These words made Han Muzi laugh. She helplessly stretched out her hand and rubbed Little Bean’s head.
“Come, tell me; what have you been thinking? Why do you miss me so much? I was pregnant with you for ten whole months before giving birth to you, so you are my flesh and blood. Why would I ever dislike you?”
Little Bean pouted. “But I don’t want to call him ‘Daddy’. Are you mad at me?”
“You really don’t want to call him ‘Daddy’?” Han Muzi raised her eyebrows. “Have you ever thought that if you call him ‘Daddy’, you would make him happy and he would start buying things for you?”
“I don’t want those things!” Little Bean disagreed. “I only want him to be nice to you.” He then immediately held her tightly and buried his head in her arms. “I won’t let anyone bully you. Mommy… if he is not nice to you, you have to tell me.”
“Silly you. If he is not nice to me, I would have left him ages ago. It’s because of how nice he treats me that I chose to be with him and let you call him ‘Daddy’. Do you understand?”
She understood that her child was better than the average kid, and he would be able to understand many things in life if proper explanations and reasons were given. Han Muzi felt relieved and continued saying, “Your father and I used to have a lot of misunderstandings, but they have all been resolved now. I would like to spend the rest of my life with him. It doesn’t matter whether or not you call him ‘Daddy’ at this point; both of you… have a lot of time to get to know each other in the future. Even if you are reluctant to call him ‘Daddy’ now, one day… I’m sure you’ll be willing to do so.”
Little Bean blinked. “So what you mean is… you’re going to marry him?”
Speaking of the wedding, Han Muzi showed the ring on her finger to Little Bean. “Yes. Your daddy has asked me to marry him.”

The mother-son duo hid in the blanket, looking at the diamond ring. “Is it nice?”
Little Bean looked up and saw the anticipating and hopeful look on Han Muzi’s face; she even had a gentle smile on her pink lips. He could tell that that smile was genuine and sincere.
Little Bean had been living with his mommy for so many years, and even though she had always smiled at him, the smile that he was seeing right now was different from the ones she showed in the past. Though, he did not fully understand the reason.
He decided not to utter the condescending words that he was about to say. He then mumbled, “Mommy, you’re too easily satisfied.”
Am I easily satisfied? Han Muzi did not think so. As long as Ye Moxuan was serious toward her, that was what mattered.
“Silly boy. I am marrying a human being, not an animal.”
“But you were hurt before.”
Well. Han Muzi thought about it for a while and she felt that Little Bean still was not able to fully understand adults. She pinched his tiny nose. “Anyway, there are many things that I can’t clearly explain to you right now.
“Alright, Mommy… If you are hurt again, please come and tell me. I will beat him up for you!”
Just as Ye Moxuan was about to enter the room, he heard what was being said. He then stopped and backed up to stand at the corner of the door, feeling perplexed.
Little Bean’s enmity toward me… seemed deep!
…
Han Muzi stayed at Seabay Villa for two days and had not been going to the office. Her daily routine was either eating or sleeping and when she looked into the mirror, she found she had put on a lot of weight. She pinched the fat around her waist and became slightly distressed. Should I go on a diet?
While she was deliberating, Han Qing called. “Qing?” She was slightly surprised, yet anxious. The fact that Han Qing chose to give her a call at this point made her feel that… something was not right.
After all, when she was back home a couple of days ago, she asked for her household registration book and Han Qing refused to give it to her.
At this moment, Han Qing’s faint voice came through from the other end of the phone. “Have you been with Ye Moxuan the past couple of days?”
Han Muzi was trying hard to tell how Han Qing was feeling through his voice but to no avail. He sounds too calm to be upset. But it doesn’t feel right to think that he’s calm. Technically he should not be feeling so calm and indifferent.
“Yes.” Han Muzi nodded admittedly.
“Why do you like him so much? Even after five years? Why does it have to be him?”
Han Muzi did not know what to say. “Qing, I…”
“Think clearly before answering me.”
Han Muzi took a deep breath and responded without considering any further, “Qing, if I were able to forget him, I would have done that five years ago. The fact that I am with him now is the best explanation… I don’t think you need me to elaborate on the rest.”
Even though they were on the phone, Han Muzi could almost tell how helpless Han Qing felt after what she said to him. Even though she knew this would hurt him, the fact was that… for things to keep moving forward, she had to quickly explain things to him. The longer it dragged on, the more it would make Han Qing feel that he still had a shot in convincing her.
Sure enough, after she spoke, the other end of the phone went silent. Han Muzi was not frightened by that. Since he had not hung up the phone, she decided to patiently wait for his response.
After what seemed like a long pause, Han Qing finally opened his mouth. His voice was saddled with helplessness. “When are you planning on having the wedding?”
Han Muzi responded, “Qing?” She thought she was hearing it wrong. Did Han Qing just ask her when the wedding was? Did that mean he approved of it?
“What?” Han Qing responded, “Are you not planning on having a wedding?”
“No. No.” Han Muzi quickly shook her head. “Ye Moxuan told me that the wedding would be held next month. I am just… slightly surprised by how quickly you approved it.”
“What else can I do? You are my only sister. If it has to be him, I can’t possibly let you be single all your life, can I?” What Ye Moxuan said to him had indeed brought him to a realization as a brother. He had been single for too long, and he was already used to it. That was why he could continue to live by himself.
But for his sister, it was different. She had tasted what it felt like to fall in love, and she could never forget that person. Would it not be complete suffering for her if she had to live her whole life by herself, or to marry someone she did not like? Instead of suffering her whole life, why not… let her have another try?
This time around, Ye Moxuan had given up all that he had. As a brother, he would, therefore… be willing to give him this chance.
All of a sudden, Han Muzi did not know what to say. She was somewhat touched and, at the same time, sad, as she never thought Han Qing would approve of it so quickly. He did, indeed, love her.
“Qing… thank you.” She bit her lower lip and resisted the sadness she felt within and thanked Han Qing. Thereafter, she heard chuckles from a deep voice on the other side of the phone coupled with a little bit of reluctance as well as indulgence.
“You are the only daughter in the Han family. If you are hurt after moving there, the Han family will always have your back, whenever and wherever. Do you understand?”
“Yes!” Han Muzi nodded her head vigorously. “I understand, Qing.”
“My meeting is about to start. I’m hanging up now. Let me know when the wedding date is set.”
Han Muzi nodded and bade goodbye to Han Qing before hanging up the phone. She looked at herself in the mirror and her tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably—she could not fight it anymore.
But very quickly, Han Muzi wiped the tears off her face and let out a smile at herself in the mirror. Her brother… had finally agreed for her to be with Ye Moxuan. Being able to receive his blessings was the happiest thing to her!
…
Ever since Han Qing approved of the wedding, Han Muzi had turned into a different person. But although Han Qing had agreed to it, he was still not turning in the household registration book. He said he would only let them be on the register once the wedding was over.
This did not really bother Han Muzi; as long as he had approved the wedding, the registration book could wait.
Ye Moxuan, on the other hand, had started to get extremely busy. Initially, he would disappear for two to three days, but later on, he would sometimes disappear for a whole week.
Han Muzi was troubled, but the thought that he was solely in charge of the wedding preparations made her force herself to let it go. The wedding would be held abroad, so Ye Moxuan often had to visit the venue by himself, by plane. In order to be back home for Muzi, he would always end up not getting any sleep for at least ten-odd hours.
As time went by, Han Muzi noticed that the dark circles around his eyes were getting darker. That worried her.
“If you carry on in this way, I’m afraid you won’t be able to be the bridegroom.” She started poking the dark circles on his face and the stubble on his jaw. “Look at what you have turned into…”
Ye Moxuan heard this and raised his eyebrows. “What’s going on? We are not even married yet but you are already starting to get disgusted by me?”
