Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 881
Yuchi Jin did not anticipate the situation to unfold that way. Duanmu Xue’s heinous act was also beyond his imagination. He closed his eyes to process the situation. After a moment, he opened them again and exhorted, “Nobody is allowed to talk about what happened in here.” As he said that, he glanced over the people at the scene with a threatening gaze.
George understood when he heard him. After all, this was a matter between the Great Families. How much disgrace would it bring if people found out the precious daughter of a big group did something so degrading? However, Old Master Yuchi’s proceeding words took George by surprise.
After he came to know the truth about the situation, Old Master Yuchi felt disappointed in Duanmu Xue. Nonetheless, he looked at Ye Moxuan with weary eyes and said, “While it’s true that she drugged you, isn’t it also true that you have caused her harm?”
Ye Moxuan pursed his lips and had an icy cold expression. He remained standing there as still as a statue. His presence felt grim. When his lips tightened into a straight line, it seemed as though he already knew what Yuchi Jin was going to say next.
Yuchi Jin gave it some thought and continued, “So just consider this even, okay?”
George’s eyes widened. Even the butler, Yu Bo, was slightly taken aback. After everything that happened, George did not expect the Old Master to take Duanmu Xue’s side. If things continued to head down in that direction, the situation would not look very encouraging.
However, Ye Moxuan’s lips curled up into an expectant smile as though none of that was surprising, and he raised his eyebrows callously. “What about after that? After we even things out, you won’t force me to get engaged to her anymore, right?”
The expression on Yuchi Jin’s face did not look good.
Ye Moxuan saw right through him. Yuchi Jin was planning to get the both of them engaged after they evened things out.
The scar on her forehead was deep but, more importantly, he did not want Ye Moxuan and the other woman to end up together.
George found it unbearable to keep watching, so he stepped forward and persuaded, “Grandfather Yuchi, please don’t be like this. Duanmu Xue’s actions proved that her behavior is lowly. If you let them get engaged, then—”
Halfway through, Yuchi Jin looked at him in dissatisfaction and said in a deep voice, “George, I said this earlier. This is our Yuchi Family’s problem, we don’t need an outsider to interfere.”
George was speechless.
Yuchi Jin was not wrong; this was the Yuchi Family’s problem and he, with a different family name, had no right to interfere. He then tugged at his lips. “Grandfather Yuchi, you’re right. It’s not appropriate for me to interfere.”
“Won’t you step back then?”
“But…” George scratched his head as he pondered. “Yuchi Shen is my friend. I can’t just watch him get pushed into this living hell with my eyes wide open.”
“You!” That sentence angered Yuchi Jin to the point that air got stuck in his throat, unable to get released or go back down.
“George.” At that moment, Ye Moxuan looked at him. George responded automatically and saw Ye Moxuan looking at him in a different way for the very first time. “You should go home.” Since things turned out that way, Ye Moxuan did not want to drag George into it any further.
George hesitated and stood there for a moment before nodding his head obediently. Despite the hurtful words Grandfather Yuchi said to him, that one look in Yuchi Shen’s eyes was enough for him. He felt like standing up for his friend did not all go in vain.
When George was leaving, Yuchi Jin looked on with an unsatisfied expression. He waited until George was completely gone before he said to Ye Moxuan, “George is an irresponsible person. He does not have a good reputation among us either, so don’t stay close to him.”
Ye Moxuan pursed his lips and stared at him with his jet-black eyes but did not reply.
Unable to control his expression at his old age, Yuchi Jin said in a stern voice, “I’m talking to you. Do you hear me?”
Ye Moxuan’s lips pulled back slightly. “First, you control my marriage; now you’re even controlling my friendships?”
Yuchi Jin was in disbelief. He was so furious that he wanted to yell at him, but just then he thought of the other people who were still in the living room. Waving his hand, he had them bring the housekeepers downstairs.
Since the housekeepers already confessed, Ye Moxuan did not object to this. Soon, it was just the three of them left in the living room.
Yu Bo stood at the side quietly and felt compelled to watch the scene in front of him. He did not think that things would turn out that way as well. He had no idea that Duanmu Xue would drug their family’s Young Master Xuan or that Young Master Xuan would drag the culprit out right away and humiliate Old Master on the spot. Young Master Xuan was truly ruthless when it came to his grandfather.
“Now that the rest are gone, I want to make some things clear to you. The Yuchi Family and Duanmu Family are long-standing friends. Even though Xue did those things, it was only because you kept rejecting the engagement. She did it in a moment of anger. Should you have gone along with it and got engaged to her, she wouldn’t have put up a fight.” Letting out a heavy sigh, he sat down and said gently, “I know you don’t like her, but feelings can be nurtured. You just have to get engaged to her first, and over time, the feelings will develop naturally. It will be a great feat for the Duanmu Family and Yuchi family to join hands.”
Ye Moxuan directed his gaze at him and kept his lips pursed, but did not respond.
Yuchi Jin did not take his silence as an agreement, however. It seemed like Ye Moxuan was just not bothered to talk to him anymore.
Yuchi Jin tugged at his lips and asked at last, “Where did you go last night?”
It was better not to have asked. Ye Moxuan smirked at his question. “Where do you think, Grandfather?”
Yuchi Jin was speechless.
“But Grandfather, you’ve said nothing wrong. She drugged me but also got hurt because of me, so we’re even now. But,” he taunted slightly, “I’m not a doctor. There’s no use in looking for me in regard to a bleeding forehead. Moreover, I won’t be interested in someone who tried to drug me. So, in regard to getting engaged? That will never happen in this lifetime.”
“You!” Yuchi Jin clenched his teeth in fury. “Stubborn fool!”
“Heh.” Ye Moxuan snickered. “Stubborn fool. Are you talking about yourself?”
“What did you say? How dare you call me that? Are you not afraid? You!” He stood up and aimed his walking stick at Ye Moxuan. However, Ye Moxuan stepped back coldly and avoided it this time.
“I already took the last blow. I wanted to let you know that I don’t want another woman in this life, except for Muzi.”
Yuchi Jin kept marching forward in anger and tried to hit him again. Yu Bo, who was standing at the side, quickly stepped in to block his way. “Old Master, please don’t get angry. Calm yourself down. Young Master Xuan got hurt from the last one. What if he gets badly injured if you keep hitting?’
“There are still things I need to deal with at the company. I’ll head off first.” Then, Ye Moxuan turned and went out right away.
“You brat! Come back here!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 882
Unfortunately, Yuchi Jin failed to get Ye Moxuan to come back. Ye Moxuan quickly vanished from his sight and not another soul was left in the space before him. Yuchi Jin’s chest heaved with anger and it looked like he was about to relapse.
Yu Bo reached out to calm him down and urged gently, “Old Master, don’t be so angry. Why don’t you just let it go?”
“Yu Bo, don’t you think that brat has gone off the rails? He is discarding filial piety just for a woman! What exactly is so appealing about that woman that has made him this way?”
Despite feeling slightly embarrassed and awkward, Yu Bo still asked shamelessly, “Do you want me to be honest with you?”
“Tell me!”
“Then, I’ll just say it. Young Master Xuan is an adult. Naturally, he will have his thoughts and resolutions on matters regarding his life. He’s being unfilial, not because he has gone off the rails, but because you have been opposing his wishes.”
Yuchi Jin remained silent.
“The crucial point is that he was not raised by you, so he does not have any affection for you. Besides, you were not very kind on this matter, Old Master.”
“What are you talking about?” Yuchi Jin widened his eyes and looked at him in displeasure. “Are you telling me I wasn’t kind? Yu Bo, do you think you can say anything now just because you have been with me for a long time?”
Yu Bo shook his head helplessly. “I was just being honest.”
“Forget it!” Yuchi Jin was not going to argue with him. He went on coldly, “Go check on Xue and see how she’s doing. I’m curious to see how that girl plans to present herself now after what she did.”
In the room, Duanmu Xue was lying on the bed with red and swollen eyes. Her eyes stung from crying too much earlier. She only wiped her eyes dry and had some time to rest after Yuchi Jin and the doctor left. But when she closed her eyes, her mind kept going back to the scene of Ye Moxuan walking in on her instructing the housekeeper to drug him. If he cared about his image, he wouldn’t bring this up. But, what if he didn’t care about his image?
Her eyes flew open; they were filled with fear. However, she quickly recollected herself. Even if he didn’t care about his image and ended up talking about it, he still doesn’t have solid evidence to prove that I was the one who did it. I’ve paid the housekeeper off and had someone take her away. It will be fine as long as I keep my mouth shut until the end.
If there was no evidence, they would not be able to do anything to her even if they were suspicious. Feeling assured, she closed her eyes and fell asleep from being worn out.
It was not long after she had fallen asleep that there was a knock on her door. In her dazed state, she thought she had misheard it. But as the sound got clearer, she eventually woke up. Upon hearing someone knocking on her door, she immediately asked, “Who is it?”
The knocking ceased and Yuchi Jin’s voice was heard. “Xue, it’s me, Grandpa.”
Grandfather Yuchi? She was flustered for a moment then quickly responded, “Come in, Grandpa.”
The door opened and he walked in while using his walking stick for support. For some reason, she thought his presence felt different from before. What’s going on?
“Grandfather?” she called out to him, feeling perplexed.
“Mm.” He gave her a nod. Even though he tried his best to conceal his emotions, his thoughts about her inevitably changed when he thought about how the young girl he selected tried to drug his grandson. Such a horrendous act. Naturally, his attitude toward her became colder. But, to preserve the situation for both families, he went on and said, “Don’t worry about the scar on your forehead. Since Yuchi Shen was the one who caused it, the Yuchi Family will take responsibility all the way through. When you’re almost fully recovered, we will find you the best hospital to get rid of the scar and make sure that you return to the way you were before.”
Duanmu Xue was dumbfounded. Didn’t he say all of this before? Why did he bother coming all the way here to tell me again? Did something happen, perhaps?
She felt uneasy and extremely afraid. If Grandfather Yuchi believed what happened, would she still have someone to support her in the future? The thought of that made her panic. “Grandfather Yuchi, what did Shen say just now? Does he despise me? Now that I’m hurt, he doesn’t want to be with me anymore.”
Yuchi Jin gazed at her pitiful and sorrowful look, then thought about what she did, and remained silent.
In an instant, the tears fell down her face. “What’s the point in living now?”
His heart started to soften when he saw her crying. Despite everything, he had watched her grow up. He genuinely liked Xue and wanted to make her his granddaughter-in-law. He did not have the chance to before, but he did now, so he fought badly for it. However, he did not imagine that something like this would happen.
“Alright, Xue, don’t be sad anymore. I won’t take back the promise I made to you before. Don’t worry, in the future, the spot next to Xuan will be yours.”
Upon hearing that, her sobs turned into smiles and she nodded while feeling assured. She opened her mouth to say something but heard a sound all of a sudden.
“Tsk. You’re very forthcoming with outsiders, Old Man.” A pleasantly clear yet reckless voice came from the doorway.
Duanmu Xue and Yuchi Jin both looked toward the door in surprise at the same time.
A tall and thin woman in a red overcoat was standing there with a sarcastic smile and a hint of mockery behind her eyes. Since she was going to meet Yuchi Jin, Song An deliberately picked a red overcoat to wear. She had even worn heavy makeup with berry-red lipstick and tied her long hair up. With her high heels on, her presence instantly became overbearing. She knew her intentions of going there, so she could not fall short in her imposing manner.
Standing at the door and seeing both of them gape at her, she knew she had succeeded. She pursed her lips and walked in. The clatter of her heels on the floor produced a rhythmic sound and every step she took felt like she was walking all over him instead.
Yuchi Jin’s murky eyes stared intently at her, not daring to look away for a second. His lips trembled slightly. Am I seeing things? But that voice earlier was definitely hers. An… My daughter… It had been years since she disappeared from his life. She never went home to see him or even asked about him. I thought I would never be able to see her again in this life. Who would’ve thought…
Song An felt Yuchi Jin’s gaze on her the whole time but she ignored it. She paced forward and quickly arrived in front of Duanmu Xue. “If there’s no point in living, then just die. What are you crying for?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 883
That sentence left Duanmu Xue completely dumbstruck. Not once did she ever imagine someone would say that to her. Did she just ask me to die?
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Song An. “W-What did you say?” she asked with trembling lips.
Song An cast a sidelong glance at her and smirked in amusement. “What? You can’t understand something so simple? I’m just wondering since you don’t seem like an ignorant person. How could you not have gotten that? You were even able to pull off such a lowly scheme.”
That last remark suddenly made Duanmu Xue short of breath. She leaned back automatically and gripped the blanket tightly as she lowered her eyes—too afraid to look at Song An. Song An’s words clearly showed that she knew what Duanmu Xue did. But how does she know? Who is she?
Song An crossed her arms and provoked, “What’s wrong? I haven’t even said anything yet. Why are you backing away? You’re making it look like I’m bullying you. Way to go at playing the victim here.” Then, she paused for a moment and looked back at Yuchi Jin. “It’s no wonder the Yuchi Family’s old man is all riled up because of you.”
Yuchi Jin felt a rush of adrenaline seeing Song An standing in front of him in one piece and speaking so eloquently. Her words were disdainful, but she was still his little girl whom he had not seen in years. At that moment, he could not deal with Duanmu Xue’s feelings. The only person he saw was his little girl. When he heard his name, he fiddled with his nose and opened his mouth to say something.
However, Song An went on with her remarks. “You’re Duanmu Xue, aren’t you? I can’t believe the Duanmu Family is still causing trouble after all these years. As a young woman, don’t you feel ashamed of yourself for doing something like this?”
After finding out that Ye Moxuan was drugged and that Han Muzi almost had a miscarriage from being worried sick, Song An’s temper rose to unbearable heights. She was unable to hold back her anger at that point. Usually, she still treated those younger than her in a civilized manner and did not humiliate them even if she did not like them. After all, they were young and full of tenacity. They were allowed to act irrationally as long as they learned from their mistakes. However, Duanmu Xue’s actions went beyond what was acceptable to her and the victim was her very own sister’s son. She was not able to hold back any longer. Therefore, she berated Duanmu Xue without any sense of remorse—poking at every raw nerve and aiming at every weak spot.
When Duanmu Xue heard all of that, she quickly became flustered and shook her head while backing away. “W-What are you talking about? I don’t get any of it. Don’t come close… I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
Song An looked at her sideways. Tsk. Look at her playing the victim again.
Duanmu Xue was not going to admit to anything. It did not matter what the woman in front of her knew as long as Grandfather Yuchi believed her. She did not plan on ever admitting to her wrongdoings anyway.
Song An knew exactly what Duanmu Xue was getting up to and turned to Yuchi Jin right away. “The housekeepers have already confessed to everything earlier downstairs, yet you’re going to act oblivious now that everyone is gone? Or are you pitying this young and beautiful girl just because she cried a few tears and said a few things to conciliate you?”
Her words… Yuchi Jin frowned and finally pulled himself together. He let out, “An…”
An… The affectionate way in which he said her name suddenly made her pupils contract. She stepped back in horror and yelled, “Don’t call me that!” Her emotions were evoked and she spitted out vehemently, “You have no right!”
Duanmu Xue, who was sitting on the bed furrowed her eyebrows as she heard their conversation. As Yuchi Jin was the only person she could rely on in the Yuchi Family, she reached out to pull on the edge of his shirt and called softly, “Grandfather Yuchi…”
Perhaps she had pulled too lightly or spoken too softly, for Yuchi Jin did not acknowledge her or even looked back at her at the very least. He just stared blankly at Song An. His tears inevitably fell after her outburst.
Upon seeing him like that, Song An felt a sense of unfamiliarity and further stepped two steps back. In a cold voice, she said, “Are you losing your memory? Did you forget how to speak? I’m warning you. You’re not allowed to call me that again!”
He recollected himself again and smiled, “Okay. Anything you say, An. It’s all good now that you’re home.”
Song An was speechless. On the other hand, Duanmu Xue was dumbfounded to see Yuchi Jin lose himself like that and to see him disregard her completely.
That woman looked domineering to her. She gave her an earful right as she walked in and told her off for being shameless. When she wanted to look to Yuchi Jin for help, he was no longer paying any attention to her anymore. Could she be…
Suddenly, Yuchi Jin looked at Yu Bo who was standing in the doorway and urged, “Yu Bo, hurry and get someone to prepare a room for her to stay. Then—”
Yu Bo was about to nod when Song An cut in in a loud voice, “There’s no need.” She glanced at Yuchi Jin briefly then looked away and said coldly, “I didn’t come to live here and I don’t plan on staying either. I only came today to see how far you would go for her. Once I’ve said what I came to say, I’m going to leave.”
Duanmu Xue felt chills down her back. She found Song An glaring at her.
“You understood everything I said right? It’s not good for a woman to drive people into a corner like this. Have you heard of the saying that jealousy makes a person ugly?”
Duanmu Xue instinctively reached up to touch her cheek.
“Well, I guess you’ve experienced it for yourself since you got injured badly,” Song An mocked. Her final words sounded threatening. “But at least your face isn’t disfigured yet. If you ever have any more bad intentions in the future, you will inevitably turn out that way.”
Duanmu Xue became alarmed and frightened. She lifted her head and met Song An’s jet-black eyes that were as cold as the ice caves in the snowy mountains; she shuddered. She lowered her head once more and felt fear rising from the pit of her stomach for the first time. She did not dare to look at Song An’s eyes again.
Song An looked away with a satisfied expression then glared at Yuchi Jin briefly before proceeding with her harsh words. “If you feel like there is no point in living, then you’re free to go kill yourself if you want to. I’d just like to ask you to do it somewhere further away so you don’t bring bad luck to us.” She then continued, “Alright, I’ve said everything. I should head back to get something to eat now.”
Song An lifted her hand to look at the time on her watch. With a smirk, she started to head outside. However, she stopped suddenly as a thought occurred to her and she turned her head back to sneer at Duanmu Xue. “That’s right. I forgot to tell you. Everyone knows about you drugging Ye Moxuan, and I’ve also sent someone to inform your family.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 884
Her words seemed to have struck Duanmu Xue like lightning. The strand of hope she had left was now completely shattered. The color drained from her face as she lost control of herself and fell backward. W-What did she say? Does everyone know? And she even had someone inform my family? H-How did this happen?
She lost all the strength in her body and felt as though her blood turned cold from head to toe in an instant. She grasped the edge of the blanket weakly and looked at Yuchi Jin. He was her last hope. Would Grandfather Yuchi still help me if he knew about what I did?
But Yuchi Jin panicked the moment he saw Song An leave. Without thinking of anything else, he strode off to chase after his daughter, Song An. Why did she leave so soon when it took her this long to come back? In his mind, there was no space left for Duanmu Xue. The only person he saw and thought about was his precious little girl.
When Yuchi Jin walked out, Duanmu Xue saw her final ray of hope disappear as well. Her hands lost their grip and slid down. Her whole body felt like a deflated balloon without any bit of strength left. She only raised her head back up after a long while and looked at Yu Bo. “Y-Yu. Who was that woman?”
She bit her bottom lip. Her tone carried a hint of anger and unhappiness as she said, “Why did Grandfather Yuchi get so emotional when he saw her and was even so out of it? I-Is she one of those people who does that sort of work and who Grandfather Yuchi is providing for?” The longer she went on, the more despicable her words got. Even though she knew it was wrong to say that, she could not stop herself. She only realized what she said after she said it out loud.
Thinking about it, though, that woman dressed up so beautifully and she treated Grandfather Yuchi poorly but he still chased after her. She must be someone who works in that sort of profession. I’m only speaking the truth so what’s there to regret?
Yu Bo was stunned by her words. He could not help but look at her dimly and asked, “As a young woman, how can you have such foul thoughts?” Then, he thought of something and his face showed clarity. “But that makes sense. If your mind was not foul, then you would not have done what you did to our Young Master Xuan so irrationally last night.”
Her expression instantly turned sour. “Yu, you…”
Yu Bo smiled dubiously at her. “Miss Xue, that person earlier was not an outsider. She is the Old Master’s daughter who left home many years ago. She’s also the Yuchi Family’s Young Lady An. According to hierarchy, you’re still positioned lower than her. But what you said earlier…” Yu Bo sighed. “Miss Xue, I may just be the Yuchi Family’s butler but I, too, am very disappointed in your behavior.”
“What did you say? S-She’s the little girl who left home a long time ago?” Then, doesn’t that make her Ye Moxuan’s aunt?
In an instant, the blood drained from her face and lips, and her whole body went cold. If she thought she still had a strand of hope left, not even a shadow of that hope was in sight now. That aggressive and bossy woman turned out to be the Yuchi Family’s little girl.
She roughly remembered hearing about it from her grandfather in the past. At the time, there was a problem in both of their marriages so both of Yuchi Jin’s daughters ended up cutting ties with him and letting go of all their properties in the Yuchi Family. After they left, they never showed up again.
Duanmu Xue worried that the two daughters would never return home in their lifetimes for one reason or another. But she never thought that Song An would return in this way.
Looking at the way Yuchi Jin treated Song An, Duanmu Xue figured she did not stand a chance anymore despite still feeling unsatisfied. I was just one step away from succeeding. Why in the world did so many unforeseen events have to happen? Why?
Yu Bo did not bother with her anymore and left after wishing her well.
…
The Duanmu Family responded very quickly. Right after receiving the news, Duanmu Aotian called his grandson and had him rush over to the Yuchi residence to bring Duanmu Xue home and prevent her from humiliating their family any further.
Upon receiving those orders, Duanmu Zhe immediately left the company and headed for Yuchi’s residence. Although he had mixed feelings on his way there, he kept a calm expression on his face and made it look like nothing was wrong. When he arrived at the Yuchi residence, Yu Bo showed him the way.
Duanmu Zhe kept hesitating to speak as he looked at Yu Bo’s back and eventually did not utter a single word. Was it humiliating that his sister did something like that? Of course, it was! However, those measly feelings were a small matter to him. The more pressing matter was his disappointment in Duanmu Xue. She grew up in a cultured environment. Our family never instilled those thoughts in her, so how did she end up this way?
Yu Bo brought Duanmu Zhe upstairs and started to explain, “Initially, Old Master wanted to come himself. But the Yuchi Family has been facing some other problems recently, so he could not personally come and welcome you. I hope you do not feel offended, Young Master Zhe.”
Duanmu Zhe brought his focus back and shook his head. “You’re too kind, Mr. Yu. My sister is the one who did wrong. How can I have Grandfather Yuchi come and welcome me himself in this situation? Moreover, I’m so much younger than him.”
Yu Bo looked at him in admiration. Duanmu Zhe has a decent character. How did Duanmu Xue turn out… Sigh.
Shortly after, they arrived outside the room Duanmu Xue was staying in.
“This is where Miss Xue is staying.”
Duanmu Zhe nodded and bowed at him. “Thank you and sorry for the trouble, Mr. Yu. My sister has acted way out of line this time so I will be taking her home to discipline her some more. I will never let her do something like this again. Since the timing is not good today, I will come back another day to officially apologize.”
Upon hearing that, Yu Bo merely nodded.
When he knocked on the door, Duanmu Xue hid under the blanket and did not dare to make a sound. She was scared after overhearing Duanmu Zhe and Yu Bo’s conversation outside. She did not think that they would actually send someone to inform her family. What am I going to do when I get home?
The door opened. Duanmu Zhe stood at the door with a cold expression and looked at Duanmu Xue who was hiding under the blanket. “Get up. We’re going home.”
Duanmu Xue did not move an inch.
Duanmu Zhe stood by the door for a while before striding toward her. Then, he tore the blanket off with one hand. Without anywhere to hide, she just looked at him with a dumbfounded look.
Duanmu Zhe saw the tears on his sister’s face and her puffy eyes. Normally, his heart would ache whenever he saw her crying. But now, he kept a cold expression on his face and just reached out to grab her shoulder as he ordered, “Get up.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 885
His grip was so strong that Duanmu Xue thought her shoulder was about to crumble under its force. She wanted to yell out in pain but the moment she looked up, she saw his dark eyes looming over her. As such, she quickly became too frightened to say a word. She did not have her shoes on when she was dragged out and just followed behind him barefoot.
Duanmu Zhe did not look back at her even once. His presence was so overwhelming that she almost suffocated. It was perhaps her first time seeing her brother in that state.
When they got in the car, Duanmu Zhe ordered her to put her seatbelt on. Not daring to defy him, she simply complied obediently. The air felt heavy throughout the drive. When they arrived home and the car came to a stop, she suddenly felt scared and was unwilling to get out. Duanmu Zhe might not reprimand her for what she did, but her Grandfather? He would not let her off that easily.
Duanmu Xue refused to unfasten her seatbelt and stayed seated inside the car. Seeing this, Duanmu Zhe said to her bleakly, “We’re already home. It’s too late even if you regret it now. Do you want to get out on your own or should I get someone to get you out of there?” There was no hint of affection in his question. If she did not answer him, he was going to find someone to get her out of the car right away.
“I’ll give you ten seconds.” He gave her an ultimatum without waiting for her to answer.
Since she did not have another choice, she reluctantly got out of the car under his watchful gaze then followed him inside. As they walked, she started to cry. “Zhe, I know what I did was wrong. Can you beg Grandfather for mercy on my behalf?”
However, his expression remained cold and hard as though the person pleading in front of him was not his sister.
“Zhe. You used to pamper me the most. I know what I did was wrong so please help me this one time. Just once!” Upon seeing him unmoved, she felt truly afraid.
Whenever she made mistakes in the past, Duanmu Zhe would either look unhappy for a bit or he would have a serious conversation with her and taught her right from wrong. It was unlike how he was now. Despite her tears and pleas, his expression did not change, and he only gave her the silent treatment. Her brother, who normally cherished her so much, was already acting this way, let alone her strict grandfather. Her legs turned weak and she could not bring herself to take another step.
Duanmu Zhe suddenly spoke out, “If you keep idling, I’m not going to care about you anymore.”
Her head quickly snapped up. “Zhe?” Is he saying that he still cares then? She was afraid to linger any longer. Despite her weak legs, she quickly picked her feet up and caught up to his pace.
They did not know how long they walked before they finally saw the living room. There, Duanmu Aotian was sitting on the sofa and smoking in silence. The housekeeper was exceptionally well-behaved as she stood next to him, afraid to even breathe loudly. That scene was enough to show the tension that was in the room.
Upon seeing that, Duanmu Xue almost collapsed. However, she saw her brother’s big and tall figure in front of her and thought, It’s fine. Zhe still cares about me. He’ll help me later. She was sure of it.
Once they entered the living room, she felt a cloud hanging over them. She lowered her head and said in a small voice, “G-Grandfather. I’m b—ah!”
Before she could finish talking, Duanmu Aotian suddenly got up from the sofa where he was sitting. Then, without much warning, his hand slapped her across the face forcefully.
Smack! The abrupt slap resounded clearly in the quiet living room. They felt the strength of his slap just from the sound of it. Her whole body fell to the ground. The housekeeper was also stunned but she was too scared to make a sound.
Duanmu Zhe remained standing where he was without wavering. His lowered eyelids disfigured the beautiful shape of his jet-black eyes that were now solemn and unclear.
“How dare you call me grandfather? I don’t have such a disgraceful granddaughter like you in the Duanmu Family. Go pack your things and get out of my house now.”
That slap had completely stunned her, so much so that she was out of it for a while. She only knew that, in her ear on the side where she was slapped, there was a ringing—as though something had been punctured. She also tasted blood in her mouth because her lips had started to bleed. She only pulled herself back together when he told her to leave the house. She was going to reach up to cradle her face but the pain had been so excruciating that the slightest touch almost made her cry out in pain. Immediately, she started crying and looked up at Duanmu Aotian with a face full of tears.
Nonetheless, that slap had not been enough to put out his anger. He felt the anger was building up even more inside his chest. He pointed at her nose and scolded, “As a daughter from the Duanmu Family, how could you do something so atrocious? If word gets out, people who don’t know any better would even think that it was me, Duanmu Aotian, who taught you that way! You have tainted my great and honorable name!”
She cried out, “Grandfather, I know I was wrong. Please forgive me.”
“You know?” He snickered. “What was the situation at the hotel last time? When he rejected you then, you should’ve just forgotten about him. But instead, you harbored those evil thoughts and ended up doing something so degrading!” At the mention of that incident, Duanmu Aotian became even more furious.
A ball of fury had been growing in Duanmu Aotian’s heart ever since Yuchi Shen said he did not want to get engaged with Duanmu Xue and rejected their whole marriage proposal. His granddaughter was good in every aspect and even had an exceptional family background. Why was Yuchi Shen so picky? What about her was not good enough for him? But now, after what she had done, Duanmu Aotian understood why he did not want to marry her.
The more he thought about it, the angrier and more disappointed he felt. The fact that his one and only granddaughter turned out that way also broke his heart. His eyes burned red with anger as he said, “It’s my fault. It’s all my fault. You only did those things because I didn’t discipline you properly. It’s all my fault…”
“Grandfather.” She sobbed. “Grandfather, I was wrong. Please forgive me this once. I won’t dare do this ever again.”
He looked at her hopelessly. “So what if you won’t dare do this again? You’ve completely humiliated us. How am I ever going to show myself in front of Yuchi Jin again? Get out of my house now. From now on, you are no longer my granddaughter.”
When she saw that he was serious about casting her out, she panicked and quickly went up to hug his leg. “No! No, Grandfather. I don’t want to go. This is my home and you are my grandfather. I don’t want to go!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 886
Duanmu Aotian had raised her himself. How was his heart not in pain? But, when he thought about what she did to ruin his honor, he kicked her away in anger. “Don’t call me grandfather because I don’t have a granddaughter like you. From today onward, this isn’t your home anymore!”
When she got kicked away, she felt a pain in her chest and fell in despair. If she loses the protection of the Duanmu Family, she would just be an ordinary woman with nothing left. She did not realize that one wrong move could land her in that dire situation. From the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of Duanmu Zhe who was standing at the side. Then, she threw herself at him and hugged onto his leg.
“Zhe,” she called out, “Zhe, please help me beg Grandfather for mercy. I’m your little sister, Xue!” She sobbed. “We grew up together and you loved me the most. I know that what I did was wrong. I won’t ever do it again.”
Duanmu Zhe did not kick her away when she hugged his leg but instead just stared at her with a dim expression.
She was sobbing profusely and her eyes were swollen. The side of her face that was slapped earlier had also swollen up and there was still fresh blood on the corner of her lips. She looked like a complete mess.
He stared at her for less than half a minute before it became fairly hard to bear. He closed his eyes briefly. Alas, he let out a breath and said, “Let go.”
“Zhe? Zhe? Don’t you love me anymore?”
He went on, “Just let go first.”
Duanmu Xue stubbornly shook her head and hugged his leg even tighter. He was her last hope. If she let go, she might get kicked out of the Duanmu Family. She was not willing to let go. Left without a choice, Duanmu Zhe turned to look at Duanmu Aotian. “Grandfather.”
Duanmu Aotian snorted harshly and said in a hostile voice, “Zhe, don’t bother if you want to plead on her behalf. I’ve already decided that I don’t have a granddaughter like her!”
“But, Grandfather—”
“If you say another word, then you can leave with her. I’ll live as though I’ve never had you two as my grandchildren. Even when I die, you don’t have to come and send me off!” With that, he turned around and headed upstairs. The appearance of his back as he walked away showed that he was completely serious.
“Grandfather!” she screamed at the top of her lungs in agony. However, that old man did not stop to give her another glance. When he was out of sight, she started wailing.
After some time, she heard Duanmu Zhe’s voice in the living room. “Stop crying now. Grandfather is still angry so you shouldn’t live here for the time being.”
A look of disbelief flashed across her face. She looked up at him in astonishment. “Is Grandfather abandoning me, Zhe? What should I do now? Can you help me beg for mercy, please?”
“You saw for yourself too. Begging for mercy now is like asking for death,” he said.
“So I shouldn’t beg then? Do I really have to leave this family?” she cried out in panic.
“What did I tell you before? What’s the use in regretting it now?”
After pondering, he called someone over. “You should stay outside and wait it out for the time being. When Grandfather’s anger subsides, I will beg him for mercy again.”
At that point, the only thing Duanmu Xue could do was agree.
…
Han Muzi had not gone to work for a few consecutive days. Everyday, she spent her time at home eating and sleeping. After Song An found out where Han Muzi was living, she visited her every day to check on the condition of her body. She was only able to let out a sigh of relief once she made sure that the child inside Han Muzi’s belly was okay.
Han Muzi also came to know about the situation with Duanmu Xue from Song An. She heard that the Duanmu Family found out about the drugging incident. After they brought her home, her grandfather immediately cut ties with her and kicked her out of the house. Although Duanmu Xue did leave the house in the end, everyone understood that they were still family, after all. It was a decision made in the heat of the moment. Once the storm passed, things would return to normal again.
However, Song An was still unable to accept what Duanmu Xue had done. “How can a girl have such foul thoughts? Resorting to evil because her love didn’t work out. I don’t dare to believe this was how the great family brought up their daughter.” She clenched her fists. “I keep thinking that I should have just dealt with her then. Why did I inform her family? In the end, they’ll still protect her.”
Looking at Song An getting worked up, Han Muzi could not resist a little laugh. “Aunty, don’t be angry now. The Duanmu Family was humiliated by this incident. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gotten so angry to the extent of kicking her out.”
Song An stared at her. “Aren’t you angry?”
Han Muzi smiled. “Of course I’m angry.”
“Who would believe you? You look so happy.”
Han Muzi looked down and cradled her small belly gently in the palm of her hand. “It’s almost the end of the first trimester. I’m a mother now. If I get angry over these things, it would affect my baby too.” She had indeed felt frustrated earlier. If Ye Moxuan’s willpower was not strong enough and he did not come home quickly, wouldn’t that just make things more convenient for Duanmu Xue? But as she thought about it, she figured that he was not someone who fell into traps easily, let alone get stuck there. Therefore, she just had to trust him. Since she was pregnant now, she had to control her temper and not let herself get angry all the time. After the ordeal Duanmu Xue went through this time, she will probably lay low for some time. If she decides to act up again at some point, I will take it straight to court and stop her for good.
Suddenly, she asked, “Can we keep the evidence from this drugging incident?”
Song An was stunned for a moment before she understood what she meant and nodded. “Of course. But I’m guessing that Moxuan is already one step ahead of you. On the day of the incident, I thought his mind would’ve been foggy from being drugged. To my surprise, though, he had already dealt with everything.”
She sighed. “You don’t need to be angry. It’s not worth it to take to heart such lowly schemes by a woman like her. But about you and Moxuan…” Upon hesitating for a moment, she asked, “He honestly believes I’m your aunt now. He can’t remember me at all. Did he see a doctor about his memory loss?”
“I’ve never thought of that. I’m not too sure, either.”
“Then what do you plan to do now? Are you just going to keep things as they are now?” Song An asked again.
Han Muzi fell silent and looked at her fingers as she pondered. In truth, she did not have any great plans in mind either. Should I just drag him to the hospital and get him checked for his memory loss? Or should I just tell him that Song An is his aunt, not mine? The longer some things are concealed, the harder it becomes to reveal them in time. But other people would not understand my pain and suffering. They would only know how to criticize you for not saying anything.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 887
Han Muzi shook her head after thinking about it and whispered, “I’m not sure either. I’ll just go with the flow for now.”
Song An took a close look at her and finally stroked her hand, saying, “It must be hard for you, child.”
The two of them were talking when they suddenly heard the sound of someone opening the door. Han Muzi’s ears moved as she looked over. “Moxuan has gotten off work already. Aunty, stay back and have lunch here with us this afternoon.”
After thinking for a moment, Song An nodded and accepted the offer. Han Muzi then left for the kitchen and suddenly thought of something upon entering the door. That night when Ye Moxuan was drugged, she had called out his real name while in a confused state. But judging from how Ye Moxuan had been acting these past few days, it did not seem like he knew.
When Ye Moxuan entered the house, he saw another person in the house—Han Muzi’s aunt. After a pause, he nodded to Song An and greeted her. “Aunty Song, you’re here as well?”
Song An looked at him with a smile and nodded. “Just got off work?”
“Yes.” Ye Moxuan nodded. It was already afternoon, and although he could have had lunch in the company, he still rushed back as he figured Han Muzi was home alone.
Song An was alone in the living room, so he thought that Han Muzi should be in the kitchen. Song An also said at this time, “Muzi is in the kitchen.”
“Okay, you have a seat first. I’ll take a look in the kitchen.” He immediately went to the kitchen and locked the door as soon as he entered. Han Muzi was preparing to cook when she heard the sound of the door closing and turned around to see Ye Moxuan’s frowning face. “Didn’t you hire a nanny? Where is she?”
“Aunty Song came and I had things to talk to her about. There’s nothing to do here, so I let the nanny go back first.” The house was cleaned up and she did not even need to do grocery shopping herself since the nanny had already stocked up the fridge. The vegetables and meat in the kitchen were all washed and prepared, so she just needed to cook them. It was pretty easy.
However, Ye Moxuan was still frowning. “Didn’t I ask you to rest well? If you keep doing all these, how would you—”
“It’s just for a while. I can cook very fast, so you just wait for me outside.”
Ye Moxuan remained silent. Not only did he stay, but he stepped forward and hugged her waist while whispering, “We haven’t been spending much time together, but you still want to cook and leave me aside?” After saying that, he pinched her chin while leaning over and lowering his head to kiss her.
There was a shadow in front of her eyes, and before Han Muzi came back to her senses, she had already been kissed by him. She was stunned for a few seconds before she subconsciously turned her face to the left to avoid him. Are you kidding me? Song An is in the house now but he’s just kissing me regardless of that. Wouldn’t it be very awkward if she sees it? It was already shameful that she had told Song An about the previous incident regarding her bleeding. And now…
Han Muzi pushed him while evading. Ye Moxuan just grabbed both her hands while mouthing, “Just let me kiss you for a bit longer.”
“No!” She shook her head while her face was as red as an apple. “My aunt’s outside. She’ll see us.”
He had tasted her sweetness just now, but it faded soon after that. A hint of dissatisfaction was in his dark eyes. “I’ve locked the door. She won’t see it.”
Han Muzi said, “You even locked the door?” Well, aren’t you the sneaky one? Han Muzi saw that he was unsatisfied, and her face reddened more as she bit her lip. “Anyway, it’s a no. Go out. I need to cook.” She wanted to push him out, but his burning body remained unmoved and her hands were held by him. She then said to him hopelessly, “Fine… You can kiss me for a while more, but just a while!”
As she warned sternly, Ye Moxuan’s deep eyes suddenly brightened up. Before she started counting the time, he lowered his head and kissed her again while she closed her eyes with resignation. She felt bad as Song An was outside while they were in here making out.
Five minutes later…
Han Muzi hit Ye Moxuan’s chest while panting. Gritting her teeth, she said, “I thought I told you that you can only kiss me for a while more?” She was already failing to catch her breath after he had kissed her for so long. He probably would not have stopped if it was not for her biting his lips.
Ye Moxuan had not kept track of the time, but he felt the kiss was not long enough. However, seeing his little woman looking nervous and scared, he had no choice… but to stop. He took her into his arms and smiled. “Wasn’t it just for a while?”
Han Muzi was speechless. Whatever. She was lazy to argue with him since she would always be the losing one. She pushed him again after thinking about it. “Hurry out. My aunt will know what we’re doing if you’re in here for too long.”
“Doing what?” Ye Moxuan asked her back shamelessly, adding, “I’m helping you cook. What’s wrong with that?”
“The nanny has already washed the vegetables and cut the meat. All the ingredients are ready, so what could you possibly do here? Fry vegetables? Or… do you want to kill a fish?” The last sentence came suddenly as she could not help but ridicule him. Normally, he was the one who bullied her, so she needed to get back at him.
Ye Moxuan’s face darkened when she talked about killing a fish. He then replied solemnly, “That was an accident.”
“So what you mean is that if a similar incident happens again, you’ll be able to handle it with ease then?” Han Muzi’s face was all smiles when she said that. In fact, she rarely talked to him with this sort of tone and expression. Her usually clear eyes were now full of slyness as she put on a malicious smile.
Ye Moxuan did not know that his woman had such a side to her, so it came as a surprise. His black eyes darkened further as he pursed his lips and stretched out his hand to hold her waist; he gently squeezed her. “Are you teasing me?”
The man’s warm breath sprayed on Han Muzi’s face, causing the smile on her lips to stiffen.
“Are you ready to pay the price for teasing me?” As his hand slowly moved upward, she froze, and even the malicious smile on her lips disappeared. After a while, she pushed down his large hand and said angrily, “Get out! Immediately! Now!” She was acting crazy.
The smile on Ye Moxuan’s lips only widened. “When you were teasing me earlier, weren’t you very courageous? What happened to that courage?”
Lowering her face, she said, “If you still don’t get out, I won’t give you any food for lunch. You’ll just have to go back to the company with an empty stomach.”
Fine, she’ll show her claws if I continue. Ye Moxuan stopped and withdrew his hand. “Fine, I’ll get you back tonight.”
After Ye Moxuan left, Han Muzi stood alone in the kitchen while blushing furiously. She had been in the kitchen for such a long time now; how would she face Song An when she stepped out later?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 888
While they were eating, Han Muzi was still feeling guilty over what had happened in the kitchen earlier. When she was carrying out the dishes, she did not even dare to look at Song An for fear that she would see through her. After all the dishes were served, Han Muzi used the excuse of wanting to take off her coat and went back to her room. Then, she went into the bathroom.
As soon as she entered the bathroom, Han Muzi immediately stared at her reflection in the mirror and found that there was nothing unusual about her lips except that they were slightly red. There was a reason why she only wanted to allow Ye Moxuan to kiss her for a while; her lips would swell if she was kissed for too long. By then, with just a glance, Song An would know what was going on.
Although everyone knew that there were a few things that a man and a woman in a relationship would do, it was still embarrassing for it to be brought up. Fortunately, she did not look as if anything had happened to her. After relaxing her nerves, she then returned to the dining table.
When she was about to get a bowl of rice for herself, Ye Moxuan had already filled one and handed it to her. Han Muzi stretched out her hand to take it and saw him staring at her with a faint smile. “Didn’t you go to take off your coat?”
Han Muzi did not know what to say at that moment. She lowered her head subconsciously and found that she was still in the same set of clothes. With a dumbfounded expression on her face, her ears started to redden. He was deliberately messing with her. He mentioned it intentionally, despite knowing that she was embarrassed.
Han Muzi glared fiercely at him before saying, “I felt cold after taking it off, so I put it on again. Is there a problem?”
Song An, who had already sat down, smiled slightly after hearing those words. “Of course there’s no problem. It’s important to keep warm in this kind of weather, so layer up!”
When Han Muzi looked at him, she saw that his expression was indifferent and there was nothing strange about it. Only then did she feel that she was thinking too much and became nervous instead. She then went with the flow. “Thank you for your concern. I will.”
When they were done eating, although Ye Moxuan was sitting next to Han Muzi, she was ignoring him. She would only talk to Song An and did not even turn her head to face him once.
Meanwhile, although Song An appeared calm on the surface, she would still look at Ye Moxuan from time to time while talking to Han Muzi. She found that he was not angry, and instead, his ink-black eyes contained a pampering smile. Five years ago, she had witnessed everything between these two people. After the five years had passed, Song An thought that their fate was over and that was why she introduced Ye Moxuan to a different target as she hoped that he could move on. However, she did not expect that these two people would meet again and…
In short, looking back on the past, one could only sigh. It was not easy for these two people to have made it this far. After this incident, Song An could see that they would probably be inseparable for the rest of their lives. Thinking of this, she suddenly looked at Ye Moxuan and asked, “Do you have any plans in the future?”
Suddenly, Han Muzi was stunned for a moment. She stared at Song An blankly but only saw that the woman’s gaze was on Ye Moxuan’s face.
Seeing that the other party was asking so bluntly, Ye Moxuan thought about it seriously before answering, “I want to marry Muzi, but… it depends on whether she’s willing to or not.”
While holding the bowl of rice in her hands, Han Muzi paused for a moment before saying, “About that, Aunty Song… we’re only dating now. Let’s keep the marriage talk for the future.”
Song An knew Han Muzi was trying to dismiss her and stop her from asking. However, she ignored her and continued, “What about your family? Do they know about this?”
“Aunty Song—”
“Muzi, eat your food.” Song An smiled at her slightly. While it looked harmless enough, that smile was lethal.
Han Muzi did not want to talk about this topic at all, so she could only bite the bullet and say, “I don’t think it’s too appropriate to talk about this during dinner. Why don’t we talk about this after dinner?” She initially thought that her suggestion would be rejected, but Song An unexpectedly nodded. “Okay, we’ll talk about it after dinner then.”
What ended up happening was that, once they were done with dinner, Song An called Han Muzi to the kitchen and said, “Muzi, I’ll need to trouble you to wash the dishes.”
As Ye Moxuan was there, Han Muzi could not say much and only silently glanced at Song An. After heading into the kitchen, she did not know what Song An would say to Ye Moxuan outside. She was really worried that Song An would speak impulsively, so she could only wash the dishes while feeling restless.
After some time had passed, Han Muzi could not take it anymore and decided to eavesdrop. She placed the foamy plate aside and wanted to wash her hands to go and eavesdrop. However, her hand slipped and the plate was about to fall to the ground. She reflexively reached out to grab it.
Shatter! The loud noise from the kitchen stunned the two people sitting outside in the living room. Almost immediately, Ye Moxuan stood up and apologized to Song An before heading toward the kitchen.
Looking at the man’s back view, Song An put her hand on her cheek and shook her head helplessly. See, what’s so good about giving birth to a boy? When they grow up, their heads are only filled with thoughts about their wife. Provided with the opportunity, it’s better to have a girl.
At this moment, the phone in her pocket vibrated. Song An took it out and looked at the screen. She frowned when she saw the familiar number and without thinking, she hung up the call. Why should I answer that stupid old man’s call? If it were not for Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi’s affairs, she would not have gone to see him in her whole lifetime.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen.
Dumbfounded, Han Muzi stared at the mess on the floor and only reacted after some time. She… unexpectedly dropped all the china when she tried to save a single plate. Is this considered spoiling the ship for a halfpenny worth of tar?
Biting her lower lip, her ears started to redden. If the two in the living room found out that she had broken all the china, would they make fun of her? As she stood there in a daze, the kitchen door was pushed open and in the next second, the tall Ye Moxuan walked in. He saw the mess all over the floor and Han Muzi who was still standing there in a daze.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it. It was just that I got careless for a moment—”
Before she could finish speaking, Ye Moxuan strode over and carried her before walking out of the kitchen. They bumped into Song An, who was making her way over. “What happened?”
Han Muzi still had foam on her hands as she said in embarrassment, “My hands slipped.” After speaking, she saw that Song An was giving her a meaningful gaze and it immediately made her feel embarrassed. From Song An’s expression, it seemed like she thought that Han Muzi had broken the china on purpose. She had indeed been concerned about Song An revealing too much to Ye Moxuan, but… she really did not come up with the idea of slipping and…
“Aunty Song, please take a seat first. She’s injured, so I’ll tend to her wounds.”
Han Muzi blinked. I’m injured? When? Why do I not know that?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 889
Han Muzi only realized she got a cut when Ye Moxuan brought her to the room and washed her hands at the sink. She had accidentally cut herself when she was picking up the pieces. When it happened, she was stunned for a moment before standing up. No matter how she thought about it, she still could not understand how things turned out like this.
Han Muzi was looking at her wound. “The wound is so small. How did you realize it?”
Ye Moxuan was speechless for a moment. He pursed his thin lips in a displeased curve, then put her injured area into his mouth before sucking gently.
“You!” Han Muzi was anxious and wanted to withdraw her hand as her face reddened. However, Ye Moxuan was too strong and kept holding onto her hand. He only let go of her after a while and said coldly, “Don’t do all these in the future. Call the nanny back.”
Han Muzi curled her lips. “This was just an accident. I’ve been doing fine all this while. It’s just that…” She was hesitant for a moment and was still curious about what Song An told Ye Moxuan in the living room just now. She hid her hand behind her and asked suddenly, “What did my aunt talk to you about just now?”
Ye Moxuan looked at her and did not answer.
His reaction made Han Muzi anxious, so she grabbed onto his sleeves. “Say something.”
“What’s the rush?” he spoke faintly; his voice was low and pleasant. He was hiding a smile in his dark eyes. “Is this the accident you mentioned?”
“No!” Han Muzi shook her head after a moment of silence.
“Relax.” Sensing that her aura seemed to have dropped, Ye Moxuan reached out to hold her hands and nestled her fair palms in his hands. “I’ll deal with my grandfather. Worse comes to worst, we can still run away from here together.”
Han Muzi skipped a breath as she widened her eyes after hearing the last sentence. “You’re serious? If your grandfather disagrees, you… will go back to my home country with me?”
“That’s my only choice if things get to that point.” His hands moved to her cheeks as he leaned over and whispered, “I’ll rely on you to support me when that time comes.”
Without thinking much, Han Muzi grabbed onto his hand and nodded. “So be it!” It was without the slightest hesitation. The agreement he passed to her brother before the wedding was about passing all of his fortunes to her. To him, she was more precious than anything else. To her, he was the most precious as well. Deep down, Han Muzi did not mind supporting him since she would be holding onto his fortune.
He was stunned after seeing her being serious. He looked at her for a moment and suddenly smiled. “Why are you so foolish?”
“What?”
“Wouldn’t a woman be scared off after hearing this?”
Han Muzi blinked. “Why would they be scared off?”
“You don’t mind a kept man?”
A kept man? Han Muzi rubbed her nose. “Of course, I mind a kept man.” But before Ye Moxuan continued, she said, “But if the person is you, I don’t mind!”
Ye Moxuan was completely stunned. The feelings of this woman were clean and direct without any impurities. It seemed that no matter what he became, she would not detest him. Ye Moxuan could not help but reach out and pull her into his arms after thinking about it. He suddenly thought of their first encounter.
At that time, she had rushed over with a look of excitement and her eyes were hot and bright when she saw him. It was as if she had found a lost loved one. After that, a man went to her and told her that she had mistaken the person. She cried and denied it. Then, she was taken away. Now that she’s treating me so well, is it because she recognizes me as someone else again? Is she trying to make me a substitute? Thinking of this, Ye Moxuan’s black eyes rolled turbulently, and his arms around her tightened a bit.
Han Muzi only felt that his hug was getting tighter and tighter, and she was a little out of breath. Her hands subconsciously blocked the space in between them, creating a little space. Although the hug was very warm, she was worried it might hurt the baby.
However, this action made Ye Moxuan frown as he pulled back. “What’s wrong?”
Han Muzi came back to her senses and smiled. “Nothing.”
He felt that he was thinking too much after realizing her eyes were full of him. She even called her aunt here, so how could she take him as a substitute?
“Nothing.” He hugged her in his arms again. This time, he was gentler.
Ye Moxuan left after lunch. Before he left, he contacted the nanny and asked her to come back again. Han Muzi wanted to say something, but she fell silent under his gloomy eyes. The nanny came soon after that. She went to the kitchen straight after she greeted Han Muzi and Song An.
Han Muzi was a little helpless. Song An could not help teasing her when she saw her like this. “If you hadn’t dropped the plate, then he wouldn’t have called the nanny back.”
After hearing this, Han Muzi felt a slight awkwardness. “Aunty, you don’t think I dropped the plates on purpose, right?”
Song An raised her eyebrows and smiled. “Didn’t you?”
“No!”
Song An gave a small smile, clearly not believing her.
“Aunty, I really didn’t!” Han Muzi opened her mouth, trying to explain herself. However, after looking at Song An’s expression, she felt that she should remain silent and conserve her energy. No matter what she said, Song An would assume she had broken the china intentionally. There was not much to talk about between the two women. A while later, Song An wanted to leave after getting bored.
Han Muzi sent her to the gate, but before the gate was opened, they crossed eyes with Yu Bo who was about to press on the doorbell. Yu Bo’s finger was at the doorbell when the door was opened, and the three of them met each other’s eyes.
Both parties were stunned. After a moment, Yu Bo put down his hands and rubbed them. He nodded at them with an awkward smile. Before he started talking, Song An crossed both her arms over her chest and looked at him coldly.
“Mr. Yu, I didn’t even pick up his call. Do you think I’ll visit him?” Song An did not even bother to be polite as she knew Yu Bo’s purpose in coming here, so she simply spoke her mind.
Yu Bo had an awkward expression on his face. He took a look at Han Muzi who was at the side and rubbed his nose slowly. “Old Master misses you very much, Miss An. The old master has been awaiting your return for so many years. Don’t you want to catch up with him since you’re back after so long?”
Song An huffed coldly after hearing this. “He has been waiting for my return? I think he wanted me dead, right? So that I won’t come back to embarrass him? As for catching up, I don’t think it’s necessary. I have nothing to talk about with that old man, who has been stubborn all his life.”
Han Muzi was listening to their conversation quietly from the side. Song An and Song Xin had already left the Yuchi family and even changed their surname. Needless to say, it was obvious that Song An’s relationship with Yuchi Jin was very bad, but Han Muzi did not expect it to be this severe.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 890
It was probably because Song An’s aura was too strong, or because Yu Bo was afraid that he might not be able to invite her back, but a thin layer of sweat gradually appeared on his forehead as he looked at Song An with a helpless expression.
“Miss An, it was all in the past. You’re still keeping it in your heart after so many years? The old master has already regretted it a long time ago.”
“Regretted?” Song An could not help but sneer after hearing it. “Mr. Yu, was what I heard and saw that day at home all fake? If he has even a trace of regret, he wouldn’t be doing these things now! I saw it with my own eyes. Even if he has any regrets, it would be because he didn’t make me and my sister suffer even more!” Song An became extremely agitated when bringing up the past. Anger flowed through her and almost flooded out from her eyes.
Han Muzi was a bit stunned looking at the current Song An. What happened back then? How did… a father and his daughter become like this?
Yu Bo was speechless looking at the furious Song An. However, he remembered that he was here to invite Song An back, though, he had already expected it would fail. As such, he immediately comforted her. “Miss An, please calm down. I’m only here to tell you this. I won’t bring you back forcefully if you don’t want to see the old master.”
After hearing this, Song An realized she had lost her cool and became too agitated. She closed her eyes and tried to control her emotions.
After seeing the situation, Han Muzi stepped forward and stood in front of her while speaking softly to Yu Bo, “Mr. Yu, Miss Song’s emotions are unstable now. I believe it won’t turn out well even if she visits the old master at this time. Why don’t… you just call it a day?” She had spoken mildly, so Yu Bo looked at her with satisfaction.
It was a pity that it was of no use even if he was satisfied. After all, he was just a butler of the Yuchi family who could not do anything. Even though he could give some advice to the Yuchi Family from the sidelines, but… would Yuchi Jin listen? He was indeed very stubborn.
Thinking of this, Yu Bo nodded. “That’s very thoughtful of you, Miss Han. It’s my fault for being too anxious. Then, I’ll have to trouble you to take care of our lady. I’ll take my leave first.”
Han Muzi had a good impression of this Yu Bo even though he had obeyed the old master’s instructions previously and gave her an envelope to make her leave. Even so, she could see that there were no malicious intentions in the butler’s eyes; they were full of kindness. He was a very kind old man.
Thinking of this, Han Muzi smiled at him. “Mr. Yu, have a safe journey.”
After Yu Bo left, she closed the door. Song An was still standing with her back toward her. When the older woman heard Han Muzi taking a deep breath, she turned around to face her. “I lost my cool for a while earlier. Did I scare you?” She never liked showing her fierce side in front of juniors, but she got really angry at the mention of the old man’s affairs. Besides, back then… As she thought about it, her eyes completely darkened.
Han Muzi did not dare to question what happened and shook her head. “No.” Then, she stepped forward and held on to Song Yan’s arm as she whispered, “Your emotions are in a mess right now. Why don’t you leave only after dinner?”
Song An was indeed trembling with anger, so she nodded at her suggestion. “Alright.”
Downstairs, Yu Bo opened the car door and got in. When Yuchi Jin saw that there was only him, disappointment filled his pale eyes. “An still refuses to see me?”
Yu Bo was unsure if it was his own hallucinations, but when Yuchi Jin said this, he thought that the old man grew more white hair on both sides of his head. He did not have that much white hair before. Thinking about Yuchi Jin’s longing for the two sisters and the sadness from those years, Yu Bo could only explain in a gentle tone, “Old Master, don’t be discouraged. Miss An is angry now, so it’s only normal that she refuses to see you. Let’s wait until Miss An has calmed down before we look for her again.”
Yuchi Jin raised his eyes and looked in a certain direction. Those old eyes of his were obviously full of longing for his daughter; he longed to see her again. After so many years, he only got to catch a glance of her.
In the past, Yuchi Jin was arrogant when the two naughty girls said that they would run away from home. He had cruelly told them that they could forget about coming back if they ever left home and that even if their relationship was cut off, he would not go looking for them. Ultimately, he did as he said. He had indeed never gone to look for them. It was only when he received news of Song Xin’s death that he started to regret it. While regretting, he asked someone to go look for Song Xin. However, it turned out that Song Xin had asked someone to pass him a message.
‘Even if I wander aimlessly until I die, I won’t return to the Yuchi Family. I’ve changed my surname and no longer carry the surname Yuchi. I also ask of Old Master Yuchi to remember what he said in the beginning and not disturb my life again.’
At that time, Yuchi Jin was so angry that he almost fell ill. Yu Bo said that he would send someone to look for her again. Still arrogant, Yuchi Jin had waved his hand and said, “Don’t look for her anymore! If she doesn’t want to come back, then she should just stay away forever!”
In a blink of an eye, so many years had passed. Yuchi Jin already had one foot in the coffin, and he did not know if he would suddenly leave the world one day. Thinking of this, he sighed heavily.
“I don’t think she’ll be able to calm down for the rest of her life. If I don’t look for her, then she won’t get angry. The moment I look for her, she’d get angry again. I guess I won’t ever see her again in this lifetime.”
Yu Bo could see that Old Master Yuchi’s eyes and face were full of regret. After thinking for a while, he said, “That shouldn’t be the case. If Miss An really hadn’t calmed down, she wouldn’t have gone home that day.”
When this matter was brought up, the expression on Yuchi Jin’s face became even more helpless. “It’s the first time she came back after so many years, and it was only because of that scoundrel’s affairs. I think if it weren’t for this matter, she wouldn’t even have set foot in the place, let alone come back home.”
Upon hearing this, Yu Bo went with the flow. “Old Master, Miss An rushed over in person for this matter. Perhaps, she really cares about it this time around. Furthermore… I think that your previous actions weren’t too kind, so maybe—”
Yuchi Jin narrowed his eyes and looked at him dangerously. “Yu Bo, what are you trying to say?”
Smiling wryly, Yu Bo did not speak any more.
Yuchi Jin coldly snorted. “Are you trying to say that I’ve done something wrong? I only did all this for the sake of my children.”
Yu Bo was just a butler, so he did not exacerbate it and merely said tacitly, “But if things continue to go this way, then Miss An will only get angrier.”
Yuchi Jin sighed heavily after hearing this and said, “There’s nothing I can do even if she’s angry. I can’t just ignore her because she’s angry right? They’re still young. They’ll understand me when they get older.”
