Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 891

When George found out that Duanmu Aotian was furious after Duanmu Zhe brought Duanmu Xue back home and she had finally gotten the punishment she deserved, he was happy deep down. Though, he started to get upset after that. No matter what, he had also spent years liking this woman. During those years, she was the light that he would follow wherever she went. Ultimately… his sincerity was trampled on until it was in pieces under her feet.

Taking out his cell phone, he took a look at the time. It was almost night now. He scrolled through his list of contacts and realized that he did not even have anyone to talk to right now.

George slumped into his seat, feeling as if he was a failure. After such a long time, he did not even have one close friend. If he called that b*stard, Yuchi Shen, he would probably tell him to get lost. While he was someone with whom one could have a heart-to-heart, he was not someone one could casually chat with.

After thinking for a while, George thought that it was better for him to just go drinking by himself. He drove out and saw shops selling all kinds of food. A woman’s face suddenly appeared before George’s eyes. She would be so moved while eating that she would look at him with tears in her eyes and say, “You’re so kind!” Should he invite this woman out for a meal? After all, she was the only person who would praise him for being kind over a meal.

Fifteen minutes later, Rory carried her bag into the hotel and after saying a word to the waiter, she was brought to a booth. As soon as she entered the booth, Rory got a whiff of the fragrant smell. The big table full of dishes exuded a delicious and tempting smell. George was sitting amongst these dishes.

Seeing George like this, he was far more attractive than a mere tall, handsome man. Rory quickly walked over, put down her bag, and asked aloud, “Why did you suddenly ask me out for a meal tonight?”

“You’re here!” George glanced at her and explained, “I’m in a good mood today, and I happened to think of you. That’s why I decided to invite you over for a meal.”

“But… there are so many dishes. Can we finish them all?”

“There’s no rush, so eat slowly. It doesn’t matter if you can’t finish it all.” He wanted to have someone accompany him today, anyway. Rory was a good choice.

Looking at his generous appearance, Rory swallowed subconsciously. “Can I pack the food up for takeaway if I can’t finish it?”

“Sure…” replied George.

Hearing his answer, Rory was immediately moved. “Thank you!” Then, she picked up a pair of chopsticks and began to eat. George just stared at her. When the food went into her mouth, her fair face showed a satisfied expression. Then, she appeared touched before she finally looked at him with tears in her eyes. “The food in this restaurant is simply too delicious! George, you’re too kind!” It had started again; she had begun praising him. As long as good food was involved, Rory would become an entirely different person.

Thinking of her fierce appearance earlier, George could not stop himself from teasing her. “Really? How good is it?”

Rory was stuffing food in her mouth as she muttered, “Very good! The best in the world!”

George could not help but laugh. “Then you should praise me. If you do it well, I’ll treat you to a feast every day for the next month.”

He was just asking for compliments, which was not a hard task for Rory. It was just that she did not like to flatter others, so she licked her lips and said, “Although the reward is very tempting, my conscience won’t let me praise you.”

Hearing this, the smile on George’s lip froze. He probably did not expect her to say that. Narrowing his eyes, he said, “Are you serious? Do I not have any strong points at all?” The expression on his face suddenly turned frustrated in the next second. Rory instantly felt embarrassed and muttered, “Actually, you also have your own merits.”

George seemed to lose hope in himself as he laughed bitterly. “Really?” Before this, he thought that Duanmu Xue did not have taste for rejecting him, but Rory’s words suddenly made him realize that maybe… he was useless after all?

Rory nodded. “Of course, everyone has their pros and cons. Although I used to hear a lot about you from other people, I realized that you have your own merits too after meeting you these few times.”

“Then tell me, what are my merits?”

“Sincerity. I feel that you’re sincere. Do you know how hard it is to get close to Muzi? Because we’re both Chinese, so that’s why I wanted to get closer to her. However, she was very wary in the beginning but I managed to move her with my sincerity. That’s why, if you can befriend her, that means you’re pretty sincere as well. Most importantly…” Rory paused for a moment when she had spoken halfway. She seemed hesitant. She raised her eyes to look at him after a while and said, “You’re quite compassionate.”

Compassionate?

Rory’s mood dropped significantly as she lowered her eyes and stopped stuffing food into her mouth. “I know you were just pitying me when you said you wanted to treat me to a feast. You said you’ll treat me first and I’ll treat you when I get rich. You only said those things to make me feel better.”

George was stunned as he did not expect her to realize this. At first, he simply wanted to treat her to apologize. After that, she cried after tasting the delicious food. He had sympathized with her and promised to treat her to feasts more often. He could not believe that she knew.

“Thank you.” She raised her head and looked at him seriously for the first time. “Before this, I would judge you every time I saw you, but I’ve realized that you can’t always believe in other peoples’ words. No matter what others say about you, they only see the surface. They don’t know the real you. So… you can’t judge a book by its cover.”

George did not know what to say. He finally came back to his senses after he was stunned for very long. He couldn’t believe that he was comforted by a little girl. Damn. He was even touched. George realized she was looking at him with widened eyes, and tears were glimmering on her lashes. Her tears glimmered brighter and her silhouette slowly became more vivid and lovely.

George was in a daze. When he came back to his senses, he could not help but criticize himself in his heart. A little girl like Rory was not his type. He liked gorgeous women like Duanmu Xue, but… just now, he actually found Rory attractive! Thinking about this, George rubbed his nose. Oh no!

“It’s fine, stop talking nonsense here. I’ll treat you to more good food even if you don’t praise me. Hurry up and dig in.”

Rory widened her eyes after hearing this. “Really? Why didn’t you say so sooner?”

George was confused.

“You should’ve said that earlier, then I wouldn’t need to put in so much effort to praise you.” After that, Rory shook her head and continued eating. She raised her head and reminded him again, “Don’t forget your promise.”

George was speechless for a moment. What could he do if he suddenly wanted to take back his words? Even though her praises were insincere, since she was already praising him, why could she not let him indulge in it a bit longer?

George felt that his heart was severely wounded. This is worse than a heartbreak!

Even so, the sadness from before had suddenly disappeared.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 892

It was getting colder and colder. When Han Muzi came out from the hospital after her checkup, she trembled after a cold breeze. Song An took off the scarf on her neck and wrapped it around Han Muzi.

Han Muzi immediately pushed it away. “It’s fine, Aunty. The weather is pretty cold, so you might catch a cold if you give me your scarf.”

Song An looked at her hopelessly and could not help scolding her, “Since you also know that a person will catch a cold in this weather, then why didn’t you wear more layers? You’re already pregnant and still so careless.”

Han Muzi did not dare to rebut. She quietly took the scolding.

Song An wrapped her scarf around her while puffs of air came out from her mouth when she was talking. She looked at the buildings around and said, “The new year is around the corner. I think I’ll probably be celebrating with you here—in a foreign country.”

Han Muzi was stunned for a moment after hearing this. She subconsciously looked in the same direction as her. So soon? The new year… is already coming? She caressed her tummy. The baby inside her would be exactly three months old when the new year arrived.

Han Muzi thought of her son, Little Bean, who was now far away in her home country. She had not met him in a very long time. Moreover, she had been video calling him less frequently ever since she started staying together with Ye Moxuan. I’m not sure how the little kid is doing now. Does he miss me?

“Alright, don’t just stay here in a daze. Let’s get ready to go back home.”

“Okay.”

Both of them walked forward while holding each other’s arms. As soon as they reached the side of the road, a car stopped in front of them. It did not look like a taxi or a private car. Soon, the car door opened and several men gathered around them. There were four to five men in black suits and sunglasses, looking like gangsters. Han Muzi frowned and looked at them quietly.

Song An looked at these people and sneered, “Do you have business with us?”

The few men were expressionless, and the one who looked like their leader suddenly said, “Master wants to see both of you.”

“Really? Who’s your master? Why should we care if he wants to see us?” Song An asked.

“Miss Song An, please don’t make this hard for us. Our master just wants to invite both of you to be our guests.”

“Then you go back and tell your master who doesn’t even dare to show himself that we don’t want to be his guests.” After saying that, Song An grabbed Han Muzi’s hand and was ready to leave.

Upon seeing this, the men frowned and immediately stepped forward to surround the two of them, blocking their way. “Miss Song An…”

Song An frowned and shouted angrily, “Get out of my way!”

The men saw her reaction and could only move aside hopelessly. Song An then grabbed Han Muzi’s hand and left. The men gathered around to discuss something after seeing both of them leave with their backs facing them.

Song An finally slowed down after walking for a while. “They’re always lingering around like annoying flies.”

Han Muzi held onto her hand; it was very quiet along the way. It was very obvious who the master those people mentioned was. They were here to invite Song An back but would not dare to be rough to her. They even stepped away after she shouted at them. Who else could it be if not Old Master Yuchi? Thinking about this, Han Muzi could not help but say, “Maybe Old Master Yuchi misses you.”

Song An paused for a moment after hearing this, and she immediately turned to look at Han Muzi. Her eyes were deep and looked a little scary. Han Muzi’s scalp went numb as Song An stared at her. “What’s wrong?”

Song An finally replied, “Even if he misses me, so what? He made it clear last time. If it weren’t for you and Ye Moxuan, I wouldn’t even be here.”

Hearing this, Han Muzi felt a little guilty. “I’m sorry, Aunty. It’s all because of me that you needed to come all the way here.”

“It’s fine.” Song An reached out to pinch her face. “It’s going to be noon soon. Why don’t you give Moxuan a call and ask him to settle his lunch by himself? We’ll eat out later. I know a restaurant and I miss the food there, but I’m not sure if it’s still operating.”

Han Muzi agreed and texted Ye Moxuan a message to tell him she would be having lunch outside with Aunty and that he should settle his lunch by himself at the company. After sending the message, Song An pulled her into the taxi she just hailed after seeing her put her phone away. She told the taxi driver the address and then said, “Actually, since you’re with him already, you don’t have to work in the company anymore.”

Han Muzi was a bit surprised after hearing this. “If I don’t go to work, will he think that I’m just a lazy person and a vain woman?”

“Do you think you are?”

Han Muzi shook her head. “No.”

“Then why would he say that? If you’re not that type of person, then Moxuan will not see you that way either. If it wasn’t for your pregnancy, you would be able to go to work whenever you want. But, look at you now. What did the doctor say?”

Han Muzi pursed her lips and remained silent when thinking about the earnest words from the doctor. Ever since getting pregnant with a second child, her body seemed to have weakened a lot. No, it seemed to have started from Ye Moxuan’s plane accident. Since then, she had not been able to eat or sleep well. She even ran out in the rain and caught a high fever. Later, she was busy with all sorts of work. At that time, she felt that she was exhausted and her body was unable to take it. But I didn’t think that I would have a relationship with Ye Moxuan after coming here and even suffer a miscarriage.

Thinking back to Little Bean, she had gone through so much during her pregnancy with him. Her body was in a good condition as well, but now… With this thought in mind, Han Muzi sighed heavily. “I understand. I’ll find a way.”

The two quickly arrived at a store, but Song An stopped in her tracks when she reached the entrance.

“Is this the store that you mentioned?”

Song An looked at the decorations in front of her and the people inside, the light in her eyes slowly dimming. “No.” Things were bound to change. Since so many years had already passed, it was normal for the store to no longer be open.

Han Muzi could sense that Song An was feeling down, so she said, “Why don’t we—”

“Let’s just eat here.”

“Alright.”

Surprisingly, the food at this restaurant was not too bad. After lunch, Han Muzi needed to use the toilet urgently and sighed helplessly as she said, “Aunty, I’m going to the toilet.” She was feeling very helpless. One troubling part of pregnancies was that she could not control her bladder no matter how inconvenient the place was.

Han Muzi placed her phone and bag on the table before going to the toilet. After washing her hands, she came out and was met with someone in front of her who immediately gave off bad vibes. In an instant, her face changed as her thoughts started running frantically. “You guys want Song—” Before she could finish her sentence, she felt a strong blow on the back of her neck. She wanted to say something, but a burst of darkness came before her eyes.

Soon after that, Han Muzi lost her consciousness.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 893

Song An sat alone at the restaurant for a long time but Han Muzi still had not come back. The phone on the table vibrated and Song An took a look at it. It was a text from Ye Moxuan. Still, Han Muzi was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she should wait until she came back to read the text.

Song An then put the phone back and continued to wait for her, but she still did not show up. As such, she frowned and felt that something was wrong. She called the waiter to get the cheque. Then, she took Han Muzi’s phone and handbag with her and asked the waiter to show her the way to the bathroom. However, the bathroom was empty.

“What’s going on? Where is she?” Song An asked the waiter.

The waiter looked confused. “I’m not sure either. The lady earlier asked me where the bathroom was and she went the same direction, then… I don’t think I’ve seen her come out of the bathroom. I thought she was just having some stomach issues, so I didn’t ask.”

Didn’t see her come out? “Apart from this one, do you have any other bathrooms in this restaurant?”

The waiter bit his lip and shook his head. “No. This is our only bathroom. Even all the employees use the same one too.”

After hearing this and connecting it to what happened before, Song An suddenly realized what had just happened. Sh*t.

“Miss, why don’t… we go into the bathroom and look again?”

Song An came back to her senses and responded coldly, “No need. No one’s there.” At this point, she seemed to have figured where Han Muzi went. She instantly felt chills on her face and in the air around her. Yuchi Jin!

Song An turned around to walk out only to find out that there was another passage along the hallway. She immediately took that way.

“Ah, why is this door opened?”

Now, Song An was almost certain about what happened to Han Muzi. She would never have thought that her father, Yuchi Jin, would do something like this. It seemed like she would never acknowledge him as her father again.

As Song An came out from the restaurant, Han Muzi’s phone rang—it was Ye Moxuan. He might be calling because Han Muzi never returned his text messages. But this… If she told him about it, would that complicate things? It was supposed to be something between Yuchi Jin and her, but Han Muzi was dragged into it. She should take care of it herself.

At this point, Song An decided not to answer the phone and silenced it instead. She continued to walk. After a few steps, however, a car abruptly stopped in front of her, and a few men came down right away and surrounded her.

Song An was able to recognize these men immediately as those that she met this morning, but two were missing. Huh.

Song An crossed her arms and smiled coldly. “What now? Do you want to kidnap me too?” After that, she put out her hands. “Hands or legs?”

The leader heard what she said and became frightened. He shook his head in fear. “Neither, Miss Song An. We’re just here to invite you.”

“Invite me?” Song An fiercely squinted. “If you were inviting me, why did you make the people around me disappear?”

The same man responded, “We didn’t have a choice. Miss Song An, please come into the car with us.”

“Where is she?” Song An asked them coldly and did not take a step forward, “If you were to lay a single finger on her, do you believe I will put all of you behind bars?”

The man who spoke to her had a terrified look on him. He quickly explained, “Rest assured, Miss Song An; as long as you come with us, we won’t do anything to her.”

After getting the answer, Song An knew for a fact that Han Muzi was not in the car. So, even if she went into the car, she would not be able to see Han Muzi. But if she did not do that, it was even more unlikely for her to see her.

“Miss Song An, please get in the car.” The leader opened the car door for her and made a gesture with his hand to invite her into the car. Song An hesitated, but still ended up going in the car.

At the Yuchi Residence, Yuchi Jin was sitting in the living room with a picture frame in his hand. It was a picture of a family of four. Yuchi Jin looked fairly young in the picture, though he was already middle-aged at the time. Even so, he still looked very handsome. Standing next to him was a woman around his age who still looked decent and young for her age. She looked proper and gentle. The two kids around them, one taller than the other, were holding hands and leaning on each other. They looked like they were close. At that time, this harmonious family was admired by many. But now? He was the only one left in the entire Yuchi residence.

His fingers looked old, and his skin was also wrinkled. Yuchi Jin gently touched the faces of his wife and children in the photo with tears in his eyes.

Yu Bo saw everything and let out a deep sigh in his heart. “Old Master, maybe you should stop looking at it. Some things can never be changed.”

Yuchi Jin lifted his head and his eyes were watery. He held the picture frame in his hands and mumbled, “Yu Bo, do you think I did way too many bad things in my past life that I have to be punished so severely in this life?” Even though he was famous and incredibly wealthy… his wife and children had all left him, leaving him with no one to care for him.

Yu Bo was lost for words. Old Master’s current situation did sadden him. The two kept quiet for a while until someone walked in. “Old Master, Miss Song An is here.”

Yu Bo and Yuchi Jin were taken by surprise as they subconsciously turned to look at each other. It seemed like they were both surprised by this news. A few moments later, Yu Bo finally had a smile on his face. “Old Master, look—God is still merciful to you. Isn’t Miss An home now? Go and invite her in.”

The person bringing the news turned around and left. He quickly brought Song An in and left to wait outside.

Seeing Song An showing up in front of him, Yuchi Jin looked slightly confused. He thought he was mistaken. Why would she, who was reluctant to see him, suddenly come home to look for him? One thought crossed Yuchi Jin’s mind. She might be here because of Moxuan.

As Yuchi Jin was thinking about it, he realized his eyes were still teary, so he quickly wiped off the tears and gently told Yu Bo, “Yu, please have the maids prepare some tea and desserts.”

Song An was surprised to see the tears in Yuchi Jin’s eyes. It was like a needle poking her heart, but the feeling was quickly replaced by anger. She could not find any outlet for anger on her way here, so all her anger had accumulated.

Finally, she saw Yuchi Jin. She immediately went up to him and yelled, “Stop pretending. You know I’m not here for tea and snacks! Yuchi Jin! Where’s your conscience? Why did you order people to have her kidnapped? Don’t you know that she’s pregnant?!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 894

Yuchi Jin was stunned by Song An’s yelling. Yu Bo, who was standing next to them, was also shocked for a long time.

Song An was extremely upset! She was just with Han Muzi at the hospital for the latter’s checkup this morning and the doctor had instructed her to take care of her body and protect her baby. And what happened next? Those people took Han Muzi away. Since they were all strong and rough, who knew if they hurt her?

At this point, Song An did not know what happened to Han Muzi, and that made her extremely worried. She continued, “Where is she? Bring me to her now!”

Yuchi Jin came back to his senses and asked incredulously, “An, who are you talking about?” He roughly had an idea who that might be, but… he was still in shock.

Seeing that he was still pretending to not know anything, Song An was so upset that she went up to him and grabbed him by his collar. “D*mn old man, stop acting! Didn’t you hear what I just said? She’s pregnant; if you don’t let me see her now, and anything happens to her or the baby, I’ll never forgive you!”

Yu Bo seemed to have realized something from her words. Seeing how Song An was grabbing Yuchi Jin by his collar and how she looked and sounded serious, he quickly went up to them. “Miss An, please let go and let’s talk about this. You came here and said all these things all of a sudden; Old Master and I have no idea what’s going on.”

Song An angrily widened her eyes. “Mr. Yu, why are you still lying to me?”

Yu Bo responded, “Miss An, I have never lied to anyone and you know it. Old Master and I have just been staying home today. Regarding what you just said, should we calm down and talk about it?”

Song An remained silent. She would never believe Yuchi Jin even if he denied responsibility, but she knew that Yu Bo would not lie nor force anyone. All these years, he had been the right-hand man of Yuchi Jin.

The thought of this made Song An loosen her hands. She replied coldly, “Did you ask someone to look for Muzi and me?”

Yu Bo touched his nose and replied on behalf of Yuchi Jin, “That’s true, but it was only that day. You were still upset then. I decided to look for you again in a couple of days.”

“Mr. Yu, didn’t you send someone to find me today?”

Yu Bo shook his head.

Song An turned and stared at Yuchi Jin. “So, you sent them?”

Yuchi Jin had never thought that his daughter would be this scary. Earlier on, he was indeed shocked by what she did, and he just came back to his senses as she talked to him. “Of course I’d want to send someone, but would you be willing to see your old man?”

Song An did not respond until after a while. “Hmm. Fine then. Well done in denying everything. Do you know how I got here? The person who kidnapped Muzi brought me here and told me I had to come and see you.”

Yuchi Jin kept quiet. Yu Bo observed something and quickly asked those who were standing outside to come in.

“What’s going on? Miss An said you kidnapped someone?”

That person looked terrified and quickly explained, “Mr. Yu, that was not kidnapping; we merely invited her to come home with us. Old Master, didn’t you want to see Miss An? We wanted to…”

“B*stard!” Yu Bo angrily yelled at them, “What’s wrong with you? Where is she?”

The man opened his mouth but could not utter a single word. Instead, he worriedly touched his head. Hasn’t Old Master been missing Miss An every day? I have finally brought her back, so why is he scolding me?

“I’ll bring you there!” He immediately took the lead and started walking. Song An quickly turned around and followed along.

Yu Bo went up to Yuchi Jin and put his arm around him. “Old Master, we’ll go too.”

Yuchi Jin would like to know what was happening as well, so he put on a hat and began to move along.

The three of them left the Yuchi residence and came to a small alley. Song An looked around and frowned while her eyes began to twitch. Yu Bo and Yuchi Jin began to look more and more worried as the alley became increasingly narrow. The person leading them finally stopped walking. Just as he was about to take out his key to open the door, he noticed that the cheap lock was broken. The door in front of him was unlocked. He was terrified.

“Are we here?” Song An’s response was quicker than his, so she went around him and pushed the door open.

As she entered the house, she could feel that her face was covered with dust. The dust that she breathed in irritated her throat, so she quickly covered her mouth and nose. Though the house was not well lit, the streetlight from the windows still allowed them to see things clearly. She looked around and Han Muzi was nowhere to be seen. Immediately, she became upset. “Where is she?”

The man became nervous as he was being yelled at. He quickly responded, “I-I don’t know. After bringing her here, I locked the door and left. I just realized that the lock was broken… Perhaps she escaped?”

Yuchi Jin and Yu Bo stared at each other and finally understood what made Song An so angry.

Yu Bo was frustrated. He angrily asked, “What’s wrong with you? Who told you to bring her here? Would you be able to bear the responsibility if anything happens?”

The man started to look worried after being told off by Yu Bo. “Mr. Yu, I brought Miss An back because Old Master has been wanting to see her every day, but… Miss An wasn’t willing to in the beginning, and I didn’t want to see Old Master look so unhappy anymore, so I…”

“So you boldly and presumptuously brought the person here?” Yuchi Jin sounded harsh in his voice and stared at him coldly.

The man instantly knelt next to Yuchi Jin. “Old Master, I didn’t do it on purpose. I just wanted to…”

He thought that she was merely an ordinary person who happened to be with Song An, so he did not consider it too much before sending people to kidnap her and use her as leverage to get Song An to comply. His plan would succeed as long as Song An met Old Master Yuchi. But now, the woman had disappeared. What if she did not escape?

“What do you think you’re doing?” Yu Bo yelled. “Don’t tell me you saw how miserable Old Master has been, so you thought you’d help him solve his problems?”

The man nodded. “Yes, that’s what I had in mind. Old Master, could you please—”

“What’re you all doing?” Song An impatiently interrupted the conversation and sneered. “You’ve lost the person that you kidnapped and you are here asking for forgiveness? Let me tell you something: if anything happens to her, believe it or not, I’ll make you pay! I can’t guarantee that you would still be alive by then to be begging for forgiveness.”

Song An was extremely upset and her anger managed to shut him up.

Even so, she was able to calm herself down quickly. “She has no phone and money. If she did escape, she shouldn’t be too far off. We can send people to find her. But if…”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 895

Everyone had already understood what she meant before she even finished her sentence. Yuchi Jin kept quiet for a moment before he abruptly commented, “Yu Bo, please bring some people to look for her around this area. If they can’t find her in this area, go somewhere farther. We have to find her.”

Yu Bo nodded as his face turned stern. “I got it, Old Master. I’ll go now.”

After Yu Bo left, Song An felt she could not remain there either and was getting ready to leave. When she walked past Yuchi Jin, he stopped her. “You’ve just got here. There’s no way you can find her by yourself.”

Song An stopped as she heard what he said. She then stared at Yuchi Jin. “So?”

“Come home with me first. Yu Bo has sent people to look for her, so we should hear from them very soon.”

Without hesitation, Song An declined Yuchi Jin’s suggestion. She responded, “No, thanks. I’m not as patient as you, who can just sit there and wait for the news.”

Yuchi Jin remained silent. He did not expect that his good intentions would be rejected. Even though he knew all along how much his daughter hated him, he still felt hurt when she treated him this way.

Han Muzi was all that Song An could think about right now. Since Han Muzi went out with her and was dragged into this because of her, she could never forgive herself if anything happened to Han Muzi. The thought of her being weak and pregnant made her anxious. She then said, “Anyway, if anything happens to Han Muzi and her baby, I’ll make the entire Yuchi family pay!” She departed immediately after finishing her sentence.

Ye Moxuan called again, and this time around, Song An answered it without any hesitation.

“Muzi?” The calm male voice came from the other end. Song An frowned and responded with a deep voice, “It’s me.”

The other end of the phone became quiet for a while before Ye Moxuan spoke again. “Aunty Song? Why is Muzi’s phone with you?”

“Here’s what happened…” Song An recounted everything that happened today to Ye Moxuan. After making sure he understood it, she continued, “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect my grievances to have caused everything that happened today. So…” Song An hesitated to tell him how she was related to the Yuchi family as she was afraid that everything would be exposed the moment she told him. However, looking at how things had unfolded, she might not have a choice. When she talked about the Yuchi family, she merely mentioned that there were some personal grievances between them in the past and nothing more.

Song An thought that Ye Moxuan would ask her about her relationship with the Yuchi family, but he did not.

“I understand. I will immediately send someone to find her.” Ye Moxuan immediately gave George a call after that.

Right at this point, George was treating Rory to a feast to fulfill his promise that for the next month he would be buying her meals every day.

George’s phone rang the moment the food was served. He quickly answered it when he saw that it was Ye Moxuan. “I wonder what’s going on today that you’d—” Before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted. The look on his face gradually changed as he listened to what he said. In the end, he looked completely horrified.

Rory, who was sitting across from him, saw it and could not help but ask him after he hung up the phone, “What happened?”

Rory’s voice brought George back to his senses. Thinking about the task that he was about to carry out, he let out an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, I can’t eat with you today. All the food’s here, so if you want something more feel free to order more from the menu. Just remember to put it on my tab.”

Rory put down her chopsticks instead. “You haven’t told me what happened. Is it something serious?”

Her words annoyed George. “Yes, it’s pretty serious, and I need to go and help out now!” George stood up right away.

Seeing that, Rory also stood up with him. “I’ll go with you.” She could not afford to stay there and eat while George looked so worried and was ready to leave. Even though she was an avid eater, she still knew how she should respond under certain circumstances.

“Ah?” George was stunned for a moment. “You’d like to go with me?”

“Of course, many hands make light work. Don’t you need help? Don’t think I’m useless just because I’m a woman. I can help in many ways.”

George responded, “So you’re not planning on eating the food?”

“Forget the food. It’s more important to help you out! I’m not a heartless person.”

Looking at her sincere face and thinking about her relationship with Han Muzi, George didn’t think it would be a problem to bring her along. He contemplated for a few moments and nodded. “Sure, you can come with me, but please don’t jump in if anything dangerous happens.”

Dangerous? Rory gave it some thought and replied, “No problem. I’m good at escaping and no one can run faster than me.”

George was amused. “It sounds like you’re constantly on the run.”

“Who said I wasn’t?” Rory mumbled.

“What?”

Rory realized she had misspoken, so she quickly explained, “I didn’t mean it. Aren’t we supposed to go now? Let’s go.”

As the two were leaving the restaurant, they were stopped by the waiter the moment they stepped out of the cubicle. “Young Master George, this…”

“We have something urgent, so we have to go now. Put this on my tab, and you all can eat everything that’s on the table. It’s on me.”

The server was stunned and immediately put on a happy look. “Thank you, Young Master George.”

Ouch… When Han Muzi woke up, the back of her neck was in serious pain. As she was subconsciously trying to lift her head and reach the back of her neck, she found that her hands were unable to move. She tried to wriggle but she noticed that her hands had been tied up. She quickly opened her eyes, only to see a completely strange environment. She found herself lying on the floor with both of her hands and legs tied up, unable to move.

Han Muzi’s memory came gushing back like a tide, and she finally remembered what happened before this. She was at a restaurant with Song An and went to use the bathroom halfway through. When she came out of the bathroom, she ran into the people who were inviting Song An and her over that morning. Before she could respond, she was hit by someone else and passed out.

Did they kidnap me?

Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief. If it were them, they were probably using her as leverage to threaten Song An to go back to the Yuchi residence. Therefore, she should not be in any danger. But why did they have to tie her up? It hurts…

Han Muzi frowned. The more she struggled, the tighter it got.

At this moment, a faint female voice came from behind as she struggled to escape. “Stop trying to escape. That’s a dead knot. You might be able to get out of it if you could use your hands to untie it. But I don’t think you can do that now, can you? It only gets tighter the more you try to escape.”

This voice… Han Muzi stopped moving and turned around.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 896

A familiar face came into her line of sight. She had pale skin and an exquisite face, but this time, she looked all over the place compared to when Han Muzi first met her—she had dark circles and unkempt hair. It was Duanmu Xue.

Why is she here? Han Muzi was shocked the moment she saw her. Her beautiful eyes looked confused. Weren’t those Yuchi Jin’s people? Why is Duanmu Xue here?

In her eyes, Duanmu Xue gradually put on an eerie smile on her face. She was staring at her quietly. “Aren’t you surprised to see me?”

Han Muzi pursed her lips and kept quiet. The back of her neck, her hands, and her feet were in pain. The only fortunate thing was that the baby in her belly was calm. However, she did not know when Duanmu Xue would make any drastic moves.

“I ordered to have you kidnapped and brought here. This is my territory, and it’s pretty easy to get you abducted with the power that the Duanmu family has.”

Han Muzi quickly looked around at her surroundings to better understand the environment. The decor around her looked similar to that of a hotel—just a lower-end version. Han Muzi remembered staying at a motel like this before when she was still working as a secretary. It was cheap as it only had a bed, a chair, and a bathroom.

The fact that Duanmu Xue brought her here and after connecting this with the time that Duanmu Xue went back to the Duanmu residence, Han Muzi quickly understood the situation. “And?”

Duanmu Xue heard Han Muzi’s voice as she asked the question. Hearing the latter’s tone, she squinted and stared at her. “Aren’t you scared?”

Han Muzi kept quiet.

“Weren’t you scared when you woke up to yourself being tied up? Aren’t you supposed to be terrified and crying? Why aren’t you scared? Why aren’t you screaming? Scream for Ye Moxuan to come and rescue you!”

“That’s why you brought me here?” Han Muzi frowned.

Duanmu Xue let out a cold laugh. “Of course not.” She stood up, slowly walked toward her, and squeezed Han Muzi by her chin. This caused Han Muzi to wince in pain. She subconsciously frowned but remained quiet.

Seeing that made Duanmu Xue squeeze her chin even harder. Her nails were sticking into her flesh, leaving a few fingernail marks on her fair chin. It seemed like this gave Duanmu Xue pleasure and excitement as her eyes lit up. She then asked proudly, “Isn’t it painful? Beg me to stop!”

Han Muzi remained silent. It was really painful, but it would cause her more pain to beg someone like her.

“Who do you think you are for me to beg you?” After Han Muzi struggled and got rid of her hand, she fell sideways. Seeing this, Duanmu Xue immediately thought of grabbing her again. At this point, Han Muzi commented, “Do you think treating me in this way would make Ye Moxuan change how he thinks about you?”

Her words seemed to have hit the nail on its head. Duanmu Xue stopped what she was about to do and looked extremely resentful. “You’re right; what I’m doing now won’t change how Ye Moxuan thinks about me. He’s still… never going to like me.”

At this point, Duamu Xue started to become sad. She closed her eyes and looked depressed, mumbling, “Why? I’ve been trying so hard to take care of him. I love him so much, but why won’t he even look at me? Just one look is enough.” Her tears came out from her eyes, rolled down her cheeks, and landed on the ice-cold floor.

Duanmu Xue fell and sat on the floor before Han Muzi’s eyes. She then looked up, teary-eyed.

“He’s lost his memory and has forgotten about everyone, including you. But why does he still like you? What spell have you cast on him?”

Han Muzi did not know how to respond. I didn’t cast any spell on him!

“You’re overthinking. There’s no such thing as spells. Sometimes, when someone remembers certain things, he or she would never be able to forget them. Even if one day you find yourself unable to recall them, these things have already been engraved on the tracks that you’ve laid in your life. They would not disappear even if you lost your memory.” Han Muzi sounded calm and gentle as if she was talking about something that had nothing to do with her. She, too, had no idea what caused Ye Moxuan to fall for her in the first place. Only after spending time together all these days was she able to come up with this theory. Though he had lost his memory, certain things that happened in the past were still there with him. Whenever he happened to be around someone he used to know, his brain and body would have certain reactions—it was nothing too strong, but it was there nonetheless.

Duanmu Xue listened to her while tears rolled down her cheeks.

Han Muzi lifted her head and looked at Duanmu Xue. “I understand that not being wanted might be the worst feeling one can have in this world. Sometimes, death doesn’t even come close to it. However, some things can’t be forced. You’ve been doing it wrong from the very beginning.”

“Doing it wrong? What have I done wrong?”

“You went against your principles and morality. If you stayed away from him and suppressed your desires the moment you found out about his identity, things would never have turned out the way they did. You’d never have to drug him, and never have to be kicked out from the Duanmu residence.”

The last sentence caused Duanmu Xue to slightly lose her cool. “No, you’re wrong! I didn’t get kicked out of the Duanmu residence. My grandfather is just upset for a while; after he calms down, I’ll still be the Young Lady of the Duanmu Family!”

“Really?” Han Muzi smiled gently. “What if he found out about this kidnapping?”

Duanmu Xue was stunned.

Han Muzi’s eyes were on her. “Do you think he would forgive you? Or would he be more disappointed in you?”

A few moments later, Duanmu Xue manically explained, “No, he won’t be disappointed in me. After all, I’m still his granddaughter, and I did not kidnap you. It’s the Yuchi family who kidnapped you. I just happened to pick you up from them. As long as I explain this to my grandfather, he would know that this has nothing to do with me.”

Han Muzi saw how she looked and realized that she was not sane. Otherwise, why would Duanmu Xue, who was well-educated, do something like this? She really could not understand how such a cultured person would be so psychologically fragile and weak, that a little setback could actually cause her to become so mentally unstable.

“How does this have nothing to do with you? As long as you’re involved, it doesn’t matter if you’re the mastermind or the perpetrator, you’re still part of it.” Han Muzi was on her own now. Only she could save herself. Right now, she could not afford to provoke Duanmu Xue. She considered for a moment and continued, “Let’s make a deal. If you let me go and leave this motel with me, I’ll forget everything that happened today.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 897

I’ll forget about everything that happened today. This sentence rendered Duanmu Xue speechless. She stared at Han Muzi, who was sitting at the corner and leaning against the wall. Even though Han Muzi looked flustered, when compared to Duanmu Xue, her eyes were firm and calm—as if she had strategized her next steps.

Although Duanmu Xue was the Young Lady in the family, Han Muzi’s confidence had dominated the situation. Duanmu Xue was not pleased as she felt she was not less capable than her. She bit her lips, feeling unsatisfied. “Untie you? And you will treat this as if it never happened?”

Han Muzi was so nervous that her palms were sweaty. Confronting an insane person did scare her. She might look normal now, but nobody knew what she would do in the next second. However, Duanmu Xue’s condition did not seem that serious as she could still communicate with Han Muzi. As long as Han Muzi guided her step-by-step, she believed Duanmu Xue would not hurt her.

“Yes.” Han Muzi nodded. “I’ll forget whatever that happened today.”

Duanmu Xue gnashed her teeth in anger. “How’s that possible? I abducted you here; how could you say you’d treat it as if it never happened? You’re lying to me, aren’t you? The moment you step out of here, you’ll inform Ye Moxuan, and then my grandfather. I’ll be over then.”

Han Muzi responded, “That won’t happen.” She continued quickly and firmly, “I always keep my word. If I say I won’t remember a thing, I won’t mention it after we get out of here.”

Duanmu Xue laughed dryly. “Do you think I’d believe it? You’re saying all these just so that you can save yourself! Fortunately, I’m not stupid!”

“That’s right.” Han Muzi pursed her lips and nodded. “I’m trying to save myself. But I’m also trying to save you.”

“What are you saying?”

“Am I wrong? If anything happens to me, do you think you can get away with it?” Han Muzi shook her head. “You can’t. I’ve gone missing, and you are the biggest suspect. By the time the Yuchi family and the Duanmu family join in the investigation, you will be exposed. If you let me go now and we get out of here together, I’ll be okay and so will you. No one would suspect you in the slightest. After a while, when your grandfather has calmed down, you’ll be able to return to your status as the Young Lady of the Duanmu family. Why would you wanna do otherwise?”

As much as Duanmu Xue hated her, she could not deny that what Han Muzi said made perfect sense. If anything happened to Han Muzi, she would not be able to get away with it. However, could she trust her? Could she really treat it as if nothing had happened?

“You’re not a saint, so you make mistakes. But if you correct them now, you’ll still have a chance. Duanmu Xue, even though I’ve not liked you since I first saw you—your drugging of Ye Moxuan made me dislike you even more and question your morality—it doesn’t mean that you can’t turn over a new leaf and go back to your status as Young Lady Xue. Wouldn’t that be a great thing?”

By the look in her eyes, one could tell that Duanmu Xue was somehow persuaded.

Han Muzi grasped the opportunity and leaned closer toward her. “I’ve been unconscious for a while, so I don’t how much time has passed. If you have already thought it through, we should act fast; otherwise, if we wait a little more, they might come knocking on the door.”

These words caused Duanmu Xue to react instantly. “What? They might come and find us?”

“Of course. If I’m not back yet, they might even call the police. So… we better leave here before the police come. When the time comes, I’ll help you with the explanation.”

Duanmu Xue hesitated. Han Muzi was calm and patiently waited for her to respond.

After a while, Duanmu Xue slowly walked toward her. She knelt on the ground next to her and started moving her hands around the ropes that she was tied up with. Han Muzi felt that her heart was pounding in her chest; she hoped that everything could go smoothly after this.

“You really would explain on my behalf?” Duanmu Xue rested her hands on the ropes and looked up at her with some doubt.

Han Muzi pursed her lips and looked her in the eye. “I would never lie to you.”

Her eyes were pure and sincere like fresh spring water—without contamination and ill intention. Duanmu Xue began to shiver. “Y-You don’t hate me? I’ve done so many…”

Hearing her words, Han Muzi displayed a friendly smile on her face. “Even though you abducted me, when I woke up, you had only tied up my hands and feet. You didn’t harm me.”

This was enough to know that Duanmu Xue still had a conscience deep down inside her. Since she still had a conscience, Han Muzi decided to use that to both of their benefits.

“So, I believe you’re not a bad person.”

These words of support meant a lot to Duanmu Xue. She widened her eyes that were already tearing up, though no tears were rolling down. At this juncture, she knew how Han Muzi was different from her. She kept quiet for a while with her eyes closed before she quietly and swiftly untied the ropes.

Soon enough, Han Muzi was released. She was already trying to stand up with the help of the wall before she could stretch her hands and legs.

Nervously, Duanmu Xue stood there and stared at her. “Are we leaving now?”

Han Muzi nodded. “Yes.”

The two had not moved. For the baby’s sake, as much as Han Muzi believed that Duanmu Xue still had a conscience, she still had to be careful.

Duanmu Xue looked at her skeptically. “Why aren’t you moving?”

Han Muzi leaned on the wall and gasped, “My feet are a little numb.” She was telling the truth as her feet were indeed feeling numb after being tied up and having lain flat on the ground for a long time; her hands felt the same way.

As Han Muzi did not look too well, Duanmu Xue did not suspect anything. But, she did not make a move, either. After a while, she asked, “Are your feet feeling better?”

Han Muzi nodded after noticing that Duanmu Xue seemed emotionally stable.

“Let’s go then. Remember that you’ve promised to help me with the explanation. After this, we shall never cross paths again.”

“Sure.”

The two walked toward the door and then opened it. Han Muzi held her breath and slowly walked forward. Before leaving the room, she had already made sure that Duanmu Xue did not have any weapons on her. As long as they parted ways after walking out of that place, she reckoned she would be safe. However, despite all the planning and arrangement, she did not expect the plot twist that was about to take place.

When the two arrived at the stairs, the moment Han Muzi took a step forward, she heard a familiar male voice. “Quick! The surveillance camera got it. They’re upstairs.”

Han Muzi was shocked and subconsciously began to walk faster. But, she was too late.

Duanmu Xue frantically gave her a hard push! “You lied to me!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 898

After the male voice came from below, the sound of rapid footsteps followed shortly. Han Muzi was taken aback as she felt that something was not right. She had just successfully calmed Duanmu Xue down. Wouldn’t what was happening now undo what she just did?

Duanmu Xue was already provoked when Han Muzi was about to turn around and speak to her. This was because she felt ashamed when she thought about how she allowed Han Muzi to manipulate her and even shed tears because of what she said. She was lying to me! Furthermore, the officers were already there. They would surely arrest her!

No! I can’t be arrested! Duanmu Xue’s mind only had one thought. I’ll push her down the stairs! If she pushed her down the stairs, it would make everyone panic. She could then use that opportunity to flee and go back to the Yuchi residence.

The moment the idea came up, Duanmu Xue immediately pushed Han Muzi down the stairs without hesitation and turned around to escape!

Han Muzi did not even have the opportunity to say anything. Furthermore, given where she was, there was nothing for her to hold on to. Knowing she was about to fall, she closed her eyes and put her hands around her belly to protect it. No…

If the opportunity she fought so hard for were to be destroyed at this moment, what could she use to redeem herself in the future? Just as Han Muzi thought that she was about to fall, an enormous pair of hands caught her in the air. She smelled a familiar scent and the next thing she saw when she quickly opened her eyes was a pair of deep eyes.

Her usually calm and cold eyes were no longer calm at this point; instead, they were filled with anxiety. Even though that pair of enormous hands were strong, they were shaking softly. She could tell from his rapid breathing how much force he had to exert to catch her and how nervous he was.

As Han Muzi’s eyebrows were softly quivering, she vigorously held on to his white dress shirt. She wanted to utter something, but she was unable to. At the same time, she began to feel increasingly dizzy. In the next second, she passed out in his arms.

Before they could even say a word to each other, Han Muzi had already fainted in his arms. Ye Moxuan frowned and quickly carried her in his arms.

“Go after that person. They went that way!”

George brought a group of people with him and went upstairs. Rory, who was following from behind, stopped running after seeing Han Muzi. She stopped and looked at her, completely out of breath. “Muzi? President, is she alright?”

Ye Moxuan saw her and could not recall who she was, though judging from the worried look on her face, he could safely assume that she was Muzi’s friend. As much as he was reluctant to respond, he forced himself to reply, “I’ll send her to the hospital.” After he finished his sentence, Ye Moxuan carried her in his arms and headed downstairs.

Rory nodded and subconsciously turned around to follow along. She took a few steps forward but decided to stop walking when she saw Ye Moxuan’s figure that was well-built yet extremely indifferent and unemotional. Forget it. Even though she was worried about Muzi, she was a total stranger to the president of the company; she had never thought of being able to speak to him as she was merely a low-ranked employee. It would be strange for her to go along. Since she came with George, she should chase after that person with him. As for Muzi, she would be fine seeing how worried Ye Moxuan was about her.

After making up her mind, Rory silently turned around and ran toward George.

Duanmu Xue escaped right after she pushed Han Muzi down the stairs. Needless to say, she immediately regretted it! Why was I so impulsive? She already told me she would speak for me, and that wasn’t a lie. The reason they came here was that they acted fast. If I didn’t do what I did earlier, she might still have been able to defend me. But now?

She had pushed Han Muzi down the stairs.

Earlier… was a voice that Duanmu Xue was familiar with. It was George, who had spent a long time with her. That guy… He used to like me a lot. He’s here! If that’s him, Ye Moxuan… must be here too! If he finds out that I was the one who pushed Han Muzi, he will hate me.

She did another unforgivable thing, but she had gone too far and there was no turning back. Duanmu Xue dared not hear or see what happened to Han Muzi after she pushed her down the stairs, so she could only keep running forward.

As long as she left this place and went back to the Duanmu residence to find her grandfather for protection, she should be alright. Even though her grandfather was mad at her, he would never leave her alone if she was in trouble. After all, she was his granddaughter!

At this juncture, Duanmu Xue ran even faster, until she came to a dead-end and had nowhere else to run. She turned around and saw that the group of people was already catching up to her. If she were to run back now, she would be caught by them.

Right at this point, a motel guest came out of his room. When Duanmu Xue saw that, she immediately ran into his room and pulled him out.

“Hey! What are you doing? Let me go!”

Bang! Duanmu Xue barged into the room and locked the door right away.

The guest, who was pulled out of his room, stood there looking utterly confused. He did not know what happened until George and his group of people came up to him and surrounded the room. That gave him a shock.

“You… What’re you guys planning to do?” he asked, stammering.

George gave him a look and responded, “Did that lady enter your room?”

The motel guest nodded. “Yes. She suddenly ran toward me and grabbed my room key. She then went into my room and locked the door.”

George frowned and did not look happy. The guest took a few steps back after seeing that he had so many people with him. “T-This has nothing to do with me. She barged in herself.”

“We know. We have something to take care of here, so you can leave first.”

The guest hesitated. “My room key…”

George took out a few bills and passed them to him. “Please leave first. The room will be yours again after we’ve taken care of our business. Do you understand?”

This was a small motel that did not cost much per night. When the guest saw how much money there was in his hand, he got excited and quickly took the money from him before running away.

At this point, Rory caught up to them. She stood in front of George with her hands on her hips. “Where’s the person? Didn’t we catch the person?”

George looked at her and looked back at the door. “The person’s hiding in the room.”

Rory took a glance at the room and turned to look at the crowd around the door. She pursed her lips and finally understood what was going on. She took out her phone and tried to make a call, prompting George to ask, “What do you think you’re doing?”

“Calling the police, otherwise the motel would never cooperate with us to open the door.”

Hearing that she was about to call the police, George instinctively reached out to stop her.

Rory was confused, so she looked up at him. “What’s wrong?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 899

George pursed his lips and moved away, looking worried. “Don’t call the police.” If he were to call the police, he would have done it when he first came. He was still being slightly selfish in this matter. If they involved the police, it would be very probable that… life would be over for Duanmu Xue. Based on how influential the Duanmu family was, as soon as the police were involved, things would get complicated and subsequently exaggerated. After all, this was no simple matter, as it involved the Yuchi family and the Duanmu family.

He did not understand how he could still be selfish about this. This is my last time doing this, George told himself. After this, he would completely get rid of all his desires and interests.

“Why shouldn’t we call the police?” Rory looked confused. “Otherwise, how are we supposed to get in?”

George responded, “Move aside. Let me take care of this.”

“No can do.” Rory was oblivious to where he was coming from, so she shook her head. “You buy my meals and I’ve nothing to give in return. If you don’t want me to call the police… can you let me open the door for you?”

George looked confused. Rory put her phone away and then opened her handbag. She took out a fine steel wire from a little container and walked toward the door to begin picking the lock.

Everyone present remained quiet.

Click. The steel wire broke, and Rory let out an awkward smile. “Wrong one.” She threw that steel wire away and took out another one from the same little container.

Seeing all the strange actions performed by Rory, George felt that he would rather let her call the police than see her do this.

Duanmu Xue, who was hiding in the room, was extremely terrified. Walking toward the window in the room, she realized she had no way out. She went into the bathroom, only to smell a disgusting smell as the guest that used it previously did not flush the toilet. She almost threw up, so she quickly exited the bathroom. There was nowhere to hide in this little place, and the people George brought with him were waiting outside. She could even hear their conversations. She knew deep within that hiding in this place would not work.

Having nowhere else to go, Duanmu Xue eventually took out her phone and gave Duanmu Zhe a call.

Toot-toot. The phone rang for a while before Duanmu Zhe finally answered it.

At this moment, Duanmu Zhe was about to attend a meeting. He saw a call from her and answered it unhappily, “What’s the matter?”

“Zhe… Sob…” Before he could finish his sentence, Duanmu Xue’s crying voice came from the other end.

This startled Duanmu Zhe. “What’s going on?”

“Zhe, please help me out. Can you help me out, please?” Duanmu Xue asked him for help, crying.

Duanmu Zhe stopped walking while the secretary next to him looked at him with confusion. He told the secretary, “You go ahead. Don’t wait for me.”

The secretary nodded and walked away. After the secretary had left, Duanmu Zhe walked to a corner and resumed his conversation, “What’s going on? Didn’t I ask you to stay in the hotel? Did you leave the hotel?”

Duanmu Xue kept crying and that annoyed Duanmu Zhe. He rebuked her, “If you’re going to continue crying, I’m going to hang up.”

This shocked Duanmu Xue. She took a deep breath and quickly stopped herself from crying. “D-Don’t hang up!”

“Then tell me what happened. Why are you crying?”

Duanmu Xue began tearing up again—she was full of regrets but could not utter anything about the things that she did. Right now, she had run out of options; she had to frankly tell Duanmu Zhe everything that she did. “Zhe, I know I’m wrong; I really do. Please help me. I’ll never do this again!”

Duanmu Zhe became furious the moment he heard what she said. After a while, he finally managed to swallow his anger, even though he still could not utter a single word. He was extremely upset. “Xue, I’m so disappointed in you.”

“Zhe…”

Duanmu Zhe helplessly closed his eyes, and Han Muzi’s face came to mind. That woman… if anything has happened to her, my sister…

Since Duanmu Xue had crossed the line, he did not have to help her out so that she could learn her lesson. However, blood was still thicker than water; he could not bear to let her continue in this direction. “Where are you?” Duanmu Zhe sounded exhausted.

After Duanmu Xue had told him her location, he hung up the phone and unemotionally walked toward the elevator. After he had come out of the elevator and reached the parking lot, he gave his secretary a call. “Please inform everyone that the meeting has been canceled.”

The secretary was shocked but did not dare to ask any questions. So, she proceeded to carry out what was instructed.

On the other hand, Rory had already broken two steel wires.

“Trust me, this is also an accident!” Rory’s ears turned somewhat red as she spoke; she was utterly embarrassed. She thought she had the necessary skills to do it, but she did not expect to have already broken two steel wires and was still not able to unlock the door.

“That’s strange.” Rory bit her lower lip and mumbled, “Motels like these should be easy to work on. I wonder why I still can’t unlock it after trying for so long. I haven’t done it in a while; perhaps my skills are getting a little rusty.”

George, who stood behind her, became upset as he heard what she said. He asked, “Haven’t done it in while so your skills are rusty?”

Rory nodded but felt that something was not right. As such, she turned around and noticed the abnormal look on George and everyone else’s face. A realization came to her. Lockpicking was something only thieves do. And earlier, she…

The thought of this made her panic. She quickly explained, “About that—I’m not a thief, and I don’t do this a lot. I was just… a little curious previously, so I did some experiments with some friends for some time. I promise that I’ve never done anything bad.”

George nodded. “I believe you.”

Rory responded, “Really?”

“Yes.” George nodded, looking annoyed. “Based on your skills, you won’t be able to do it even if you wanted to.”

Rory responded, “Shut up… I don’t want to hear a word from you.”

George responded, “There’s no way—”

“I can do it. Let me try again.” Rory turned around and began working on it again. When George became impatient and was about to ask her to stop trying, he heard something click. Then, the door opened.

Everyone was stunned when they saw what just happened. What the f*ck? George thought, Did she open it? He instantly became impressed by Rory.

Looking proud, Rory pushed the door and kicked it opened. “Whoever is in here, come out now! We’ve surrounded you; there’s nowhere for you to go.”

Her brash behavior brought George back to his senses. He quickly went and pulled her out. “Come out.”

George went in by himself and saw Duanmu Xue hiding in the corner with her arms around her knees. She lifted her head and looked at George. Her hair was unkempt and her eyes were full of tears.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 900

George glanced at her and felt his heart ache. He had never seen Duanmu Xue in this state before; she looked pathetic—like something the cat dragged in. In the past, she had always stood at the top, looking down on everyone else. But what about now?

His lips curled up in a contemptuous sneer. He approached her with large strides, then crouched down in front of her. “How does it feel to hit rock bottom? It sucks, right?”

A look of bewilderment flashed across Duanmu Xue’s eyes at his words. What does George mean by that? However, at the sight of him crouching down before her, she didn’t feel as hopeless as she was before.

George… is somebody who used to like me! Although she couldn’t fathom why he later stopped following her around, it didn’t bother her at the time. She thought that it was a good thing as she preferred not having to meet him every day anyway. Besides, he wasn’t the only suitor chasing after her hand. Even if he wasn’t there, there were many others in his stead—his existence had been of no importance to her. Still, seeing him appear before her in this situation, she seemed to have grasped onto hope.

She looked at him for a while, then suddenly reached out to grab his shoulder. “George, please help me. Please help me! It wasn’t intentional! I never meant to hurt her!”

George paused for a moment when she grabbed his shoulder. Looking down at where she was holding on to him, his eyes wavered for a bit, but they soon cooled noticeably. “Never meant to hurt her? Who was it… that pushed her down the stairs just now?”

Fear flitted across Duanmu Xue’s face at his words. “Will you believe me if I said it was an accident? We were planning to go down together, but when I heard your voices suddenly, I-I got scared…”

He looked at her, amused. “So, you pushed her down the stairs because you were afraid? Were you trying to use her to create a chance to escape?”

She stared at him blankly. How could he see through all my intentions so quickly?

“Did you know that I used to like you?” George asked all of a sudden.

Rory, who was standing not too far behind, immediately pricked up her ears inquisitively. Oh dear, and here I thought we were here to help… I would never have expected George to have experienced a love-hate relationship like this!

At his confession, Duanmu Xue felt hope blossoming in her. She avoided his question and said, “If you like me, then can you please help me? I didn’t do it on purpose. At that time… my head was in a mess, so I…”

“Huh, so it wasn’t intentional? Then, what about the time you drugged Yuchi? Was that also an accident?”

Duanmu Xue couldn’t say a word in reply.

“Did you know what I used to like about you?” he asked. Without giving her a chance to reply, he continued himself, “I liked your sincerity, your kindness, and your virtue.” As he spoke, his eyes darkened significantly, and his voice became lower. “However, I learned later on that everything I saw was an illusion. Do you remember the last time I visited the Duanmu Family? I heard every single word you said to your servant.”

His last sentence completely crushed any hope she had left. The hand holding on to his arm slowly lost its grip and fell to the floor limply. No wonder he suddenly stopped following me around… At that time, I couldn’t care less… Now I know why…

“So, I find it ironic every time I think about all the good points about you that I used to like. ” He gave a small smile. “However, I have to thank God for giving me that chance—it allowed me to see your true colors.”

She felt like it was getting difficult to breathe. At first, she had placed a sliver of hope on him, but now, she could only pray that her brother, Duanmu Zhe, would arrive soon.

“I can let you go this time,” George said suddenly.

“What did you say? Really?” Duanmu Xue looked at him with surprise and doubt.

“That’s right, but you have to apologize for the words you’ve said about me in the past. You have to apologize and admit that you were wrong for trampling on my feelings.”

A person she used to look down on was demanding for her to apologize to him right now. If it was in the past, she would have given him a backhanded slap. But what about right now? She had committed a crime and was trapped in here; if George reported it to the police, she would be brought in for questioning immediately. If he could let her go with something as simple as an apology, then what did it matter if she had to say it once? She blurted out, “I’m sorry!”

His smile froze on his lips as he stared at her in shock.

Duanmu Xue grabbed his shoulder. “I’m sorry; I was in the wrong. I shouldn’t have been so callous about your feelings. I’ve apologized; can you let me go now?”

George couldn’t understand the swirl of emotions in his heart right now. She had apologized, just as he had wanted, but the pain in his heart had not left. After a moment, he sneered, “Alright, but this is the last time. If you ever do something like this again, I will personally bring you in.” Then, he got up and turned around to leave.

The surrounding crowd wasn’t expecting things to end so quickly; he had not captured anybody and had simply left after a quick visit.

Rory stood in the room watching Duanmu Xue for a bit, then suddenly chased after him and followed beside him. “Are we letting her go just like this? What if she does something unfavorable to Muzi again in the future?”

George’s steps paused, then stopped. She thought he was disgruntled over what she had said, but he simply stared straight ahead. Thus, she followed his gaze.

Duanmu Zhe was walking in their direction; his strides were long and he quickly arrived in front of George. “George, Xue…”

George grinned. “She’s hiding inside. I say, Duanmu Zhe, she actually pushed Muzi down the stairs. Is the Duanmu Family unwilling to punish her? After doing something like that, how could you still allow her to keep making the same mistakes over and over again? Perhaps, the Duanmu Family needs a little help from the police in disciplining her?”

These words made Duanmu Zhe very uncomfortable. Nevertheless, his sister was the one in the wrong—there was nothing he could say to refute it. He pursed his lips and replied coldly, “Thanks.”

“Don’t thank me. If it wasn’t for our friendship in the past, I’d have called the cops early on. However, I can guarantee you that there won’t be a second time.” George took Rory’s hand and walked away.

After being dragged for quite a distance, Rory finally had enough and reminded him, “Why are you holding on to my hand?”

Hearing that, George came back to his senses and released his grip on her hand. “Sorry.”

She could clearly sense the dismay radiating from his body, so she helplessly said, “You haven’t gotten over her, have you?”

“What nonsense are you talking about? I got over her a long time ago!” He glared at her fiercely and gritted his teeth. “I gave up on her the day she said those words about me. It’s just that some of my feelings have been suppressed for so long. I finally managed to vent it all out today.”

“Really?” she muttered. He claimed that he managed to vent it all out, but when Duanmu Xue apologized to him, he seemed to be in more pain than before.

Having no intention to continue the topic, George curtly changed the subject. “Now that we’re done here, I’ll treat you to some drinks and food.”

Seeing as he didn’t want to talk about it, Rory took the hint. “Sure! I played a huge role in accompanying you this time around! I definitely need a drink!”

With that, they left together.
