Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 911
Everything that is happening before me feels like an illusion. Why is there a child, who resembles me, if it’s not an illusion? In fact, why is he addressing me as his daddy and referring to Han Muzi as his mommy? Could he be… our son? Why does the pain feel so real on my foot if this is merely an illusion? It’s so clear that everything feels so real; it is as if this is truly happening. Well, is this reality or is this an illusion?
All of a sudden, Ye Moxuan was unable to tell the difference between what was true and what was not. He couldn’t help but narrow his eyes dangerously when he heard that the child wanted to leave him, so Ye Moxuan gave off an intimidating aura instantly.
Leave me? How can she just leave me after provoking me? That little brat is hugging Han Muzi tightly and he has his arms wrapped around her neck. Who is he to do that when I barely have any chance to be intimate with her? Ye Moxuan immediately grabbed Little Bean by his collar to pick him up.
“Ah! Bad daddy! Put me down! Put me down right now!” Little Bean waved his limbs wildly in the air, but his movements were restricted with the layers of clothing on him. He wanted to grab Ye Moxuan’s arm, but it was out of reach and as a result, he looked like he grappled for support wildly in the air.
Han Muzi worriedly observed the situation and she noticed the coldness in Ye Moxuan’s gaze. Hence, she exclaimed in a panic, “You previously promised me that you would listen to my explanation if you were to come across things that you deem unacceptable.”
Ye Moxuan glanced at her when he heard that. Han Muzi’s pretty face was etched with worry. She appears to be extremely concerned about the little brat. Somehow, a single thought flashed through Ye Moxuan’s mind and he blurted out, “Is he more important than me?”
Yan and Xiao Su, who observed everything from their hiding spot, almost rolled their eyes in shock. Is this even the time to be jealous? Shouldn’t the fact that a child just called him ‘Daddy’ take priority? Wouldn’t a normal person be shocked when they see a child who looks exactly like them?
Han Muzi was bewildered by Ye Moxuan’s question because she was under the impression that his thought process and priorities had been affected by his memory loss.
Just when she struggled to come up with an answer, Little Bean broke the silence while staring at Ye Moxuan resentfully. “Daddy, excuse me, but are you a fool?”
Ye Moxuan’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. The next thing he knew, Little Bean screamed at the top of his lungs, “I am Mommy’s precious son, so it’s only natural for me to be more important than you, bad daddy! You better be careful because Mommy might leave you if you don’t put me down right now!”
Ye Moxuan was at a loss for words when he heard that. He noticed that the child stared at him resentfully. The child’s expression and movements were comical since Ye Moxuan had lifted him up in the air, but his expression looked exactly like his when the child spoke. After a while, Ye Moxuan took him out.
Han Muzi wanted to follow them when she saw that.
“I want to talk to him.” His firm statement stopped Han Muzi in her tracks.
She did not chase after them. Little Bean is his son after all, so Ye Moxuan wouldn’t do anything to harm him.
However, Little Bean was reluctant because Ye Moxuan had grabbed him by his collar. He couldn’t come down and swung his limbs wildly while screaming at the top of his voice, “Bad daddy! I don’t want to go out with you! I want Mommy!”
Little Bean’s voice went farther away. Then, the door closed with a thud.
Yan and Xiao Su, who observed everything from the other side of the door, came face-to-face with Ye Moxuan and Little Bean.
Initially, the three of them had planned to enter the house since the door was ajar. However, they decided to observe the situation from outside when they suddenly heard voices from the apartment. Hence, the three of them sneakily hid by the door. Afterward, the three of them were scared witless when they heard Ye Moxuan interrogating Han Muzi. Toward the end, just when the two adults could no longer bear to listen further, they realized in horror that Little Bean was gone. When they checked again, they realized that he had entered the apartment.
After that, things progressed as described. At that moment, Ye Moxuan bumped into Yan and Xiao Su after he closed the door behind him with Little Bean in his other hand. Ye Moxuan squinted menacingly at these two strangers who appeared out of nowhere at the door.
“Aunt Yan, Mr. Xiao, save me!” Little Bean waved at them for help.
Yan and Xiao Su exchanged a glance with each other before clearing their throats. After that, they moved forward to open the door and enter the apartment.
Little Bean’s eyes widened when he saw that. Oh my God! Those two ungrateful bullies!
Without further hindrance, Ye Moxuan made his way to the top of the stairs before placing Little Bean down. Little Bean wanted to run the moment his feet touched the ground. However, he barely took two steps forward before Ye Moxuan yanked the hood of his down jacket. Little Bean tried to run with all his might, but he merely paced around the same spot. Hence, Little Bean snorted in disdain, and he turned around abruptly to bite Ye Moxuan’s wrist.
Ye Moxuan felt a sharp pain on his wrist and he scowled deeply. He was about to shove the child reflexively, but he refrained from doing so when he saw the child’s face. “Are you done biting me?” he asked in an icy tone.
Little Bean thought he was satisfied with the bite and he pulled away.
Ye Moxuan lowered his head and he saw the tiny bite mark across his wrist. When he looked up again, Little Bean grimaced at him while baring his teeth.
Ye Moxuan thought of something when he saw some blood stain on his teeth and he reached out to wipe away the bloodstains. “Tell me. What is going on?”
Little Bean smacked Ye Moxuan’s arm away. He folded his arms across his chest angrily while turning to the side, obviously trying to ignore Ye Moxuan.
Ye Moxuan looked amused when he saw that. This child has quite a temper. However, I will not let it slip since it’s something I need to know. “Are you not telling me? Well, in that case, just tell me who you are.”
“Hmph!” Little Bean refused to answer and turned to face the other side instead.
Ye Moxuan cocked his brow at him. “Did you… call me ‘Daddy’ just now?”
Little Bean was furious when the word ‘Daddy’ was mentioned, but he answered proudly, “You were mistaken. I was not referring to you when I said ‘Daddy’.”
“Is that so? Who were you addressing then? Was it the man at the door?” Ye Moxuan obviously knew that it wasn’t true, but merely wanted to tease the child since the child was so stubborn.
Just look at his face; he is so young. Besides, he called me his dad. It is quite unbelievable, but… the truth is staring me right in the face. What else can I believe?
Little Bean glanced at Ye Moxuan and he copied Ye Moxuan by narrowing his eyes threateningly. “You are too evil. You are trying to get me to drag Mr. Xiao into this. I refuse to do that!”
Ye Moxuan did not expect the child to be so quick-witted. Thus, he reached out to pinch his cheeks while squinting at him unblinkingly. “It’s fine if you refuse to speak. I will ask your mommy since you refuse to explain. I think… your mommy would be more than willing to explain everything to me.”
Little Bean panicked when he heard that Ye Moxuan was about to go to his mother. However, something struck him, and he snorted loudly. “I heard everything when I was at the door. You called Mommy’s unborn baby a bastard. You offended my mommy and she will not forgive you!”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 912
Ye Moxuan felt a throbbing headache at the mention of those words. I had put my foot in my mouth earlier because I was too anxious. I didn’t mean it at all. However, I lost my rationality when I saw how much she treasured the unborn child and I recalled what she had done before. Previously, in the hospital, when I learned that she was pregnant, my first reaction was to remind myself to trust her no matter what. However, why did I fail to do that when the time requires me to do so?
Little Bean’s arms were still folded in front of his chest. He snorted before suggesting, “If you beg me, Daddy, I might be able to plead your case with Mommy.”
Ye Moxuan was rendered speechless for a while at his response. “Did you just… call me ‘Daddy’ again?”
Little Bean’s expression soured immediately because he knew all along that Ye Moxuan was his father and he addressed him as such out of habit.
“Little brat, it’s fine even if you refused to tell me the whole story.” I can pretty much guess it anyway.
“You are the little brat! Hang on, no! You are an evil brat! You bullied Mommy just now. Mommy’s unborn child and I will not forgive you.”
Ye Moxuan’s heart melted into mush when he saw the child, who was his spitting image, reprimanding him while glaring at him. Hence, after Little Bean was done with his scolding, Ye Moxuan suddenly reached out to wrap him into a tight embrace.
“Ah! Bad daddy! Just speak if you must, but what are you doing now?”
Ye Moxuan had already embraced Little Bean before the child could react. Little Bean felt Ye Moxuan’s warmth despite wearing a sweater and a thick down jacket. This is… the warmth of a father. Little Bean was stunned to silence as thoughts ran through his mind. I think this is… the first time Daddy has hugged me so tightly. Besides, judging by the looks of it, Daddy seems rather moved. Why isn’t he angry at all after all my scolding?
“Hmph! Hmph! Don’t you even think for a second that I’d forgive you so easily just because you are hugging me now!” Little Bean still tried to be difficult.
On the other side, Yan and Xiao Su closed the door after walking into the apartment and they bumped into Han Muzi who was in the living room. Han Muzi was shocked due to Little Bean’s sudden appearance. However, everything cleared up suddenly when she saw Yan and Xiao Su. It seems that Yan and Xiao Su brought him here.
“You guys…” Han Muzi was about to say something when Yan made a gesture as if she begged for mercy. “Muzi, Muzi, please, Muzi, you are the best. It’s not my intention to bring Little Bean over. Little Bean is the one who forced me to take him here. You can’t blame me for this. You have to blame Little Bean for this one.” Yan shamelessly shoved the blame entirely on Little Bean. After all, Little Bean is Han Muzi’s child and she would not be angry with him. Besides, Little Bean and I had an agreement beforehand.
Xiao Su was in shock because he had not expected Yan to fully blame Little Bean. However, Han Muzi did not find that odd at all. On the contrary, she squinted suspiciously at Yan. “Is that so?”
“Of course! You should know your son best!”
Han Muzi was not too interested in this issue, so she did not blame Yan. After all, she knew how persistent Little Bean could be, especially when he pestered someone for something. However, everything happened too fast for her to process.
It isn’t an issue for Little Bean to come looking for me. It’s great that I get to see him because I miss him too. However… what I was not prepared for was the fact that Ye Moxuan is around when Little Bean is here. I wasn’t planning for both father and son to meet under such abrupt circumstances and now, Ye Moxuan took him outside. Although I know that he wouldn’t harm Little Bean, I wonder what is going on in his mind. I wonder if he’d be able to accept reality by meeting a child, who closely resembles him, when Ye Moxuan has lost all his memories. Can he accept it? I was almost scared witless when he lost his rationality just now. With Little Bean’s sudden appearance, I’m quite shocked, to be honest.
Han Muzi lowered her eyes when she was still deep in thought. In the beginning, Yan assumed that Han Muzi would reprimand her, but she remained unexpectedly quiet. Yan thought something was amiss and suddenly understood the situation better after piecing the incident earlier.
She then explained hastily, “Well…I did not expect things to turn out this way too. Initially, I just wanted to take Little Bean to visit you since he missed you very much. I felt that he is also pitiful because he just wanted to see his mommy after all. After we landed, we came over based on your address. At first, we planned to visit you, but your door was left ajar. That was how we happened to overhear your argument. It was too late for us to stop Little Bean by the time he dashed into the apartment.”
She described what happened in brief. Then, Han Muzi looked up and met her gaze, calmly stating, “This isn’t your fault and I know that. I’m just worried about—”
Just when she was speaking, Little Bean’s voice shouted from outside, “Daddy, bad daddy! Mommy… come, quick.”
Han Muzi almost jumped out of her skin when she heard his screams and rushed out. Yan and Xiao Su exchanged a glance before chasing after her from behind.
After opening the door, Han Muzi realized that Ye Moxuan had fainted and squashed Little Bean beneath him. Little Bean wore thick layers of clothes and, with Ye Moxuan’s large body pressing on him, he was unable to free himself.
The scene was extremely comical, but Han Muzi could not find it amusing at all because Ye Moxuan, who had passed out, looked terribly pale. In fact, beads of cold sweat formed across his forehead. What… happened?
Before Han Muzi could respond, Xiao Su and Yan immediately pulled them apart. Xiao Su helped Ye Moxuan up whereas Yan pulled Little Bean away and she patted his back to remove the dust from his clothes.
“What happened?” Yan asked in bewilderment.
Han Muzi stared at Ye Moxuan’s pale face and she pursed her lips. “Let’s not ask any questions now. He looks like he’s in bad shape. I need to take the car keys. Both of you should help to get him downstairs into the car, please.”
“Sure.”
Xiao Su was a man, so he had more strength and helped Ye Moxuan down the stairs effortlessly, whereas Yan held Little Bean’s hand and they walked down together. Han Muzi searched the apartment and she found the car keys Ye Moxuan left on the coffee table before dashing into her bedroom to fetch her handbag. Then, she rushed downstairs after locking up the apartment. The group then sent Ye Moxuan to the hospital together.
Little Bean held Yan’s hand, but he stared at Han Muzi, who stood nearby. Mommy merely looked at me once ever since I arrived. She has ignored me since then! In fact, she is only focusing on my bad daddy. I came all the way here to see her, but Mommy didn’t even bother to hug me.
The more he thought about it, the more wronged he felt. However, Little Bean reminded himself that Ye Moxuan was admitted to the hospital, so he had no choice but to nurse his grievance in silence. Forget it, I shall give in to Daddy this time since he is a patient!
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 913
Time passed by and Han Muzi’s phone suddenly rang. She checked her phone and realized that it was Song An on the line.
Han Muzi looked slightly alarmed when she saw Song An’s name on her phone screen. Song An had planned to have a reunion dinner with them since it was Chinese New Year’s Eve and even waited at Han Muzi’s new accommodation for ages, but Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi did not return home. Song An felt anxious after waiting for so long and phoned Han Muzi.
Han Muzi collected herself before answering the phone call.
“Muzi, look at the time now. Didn’t Moxuan say that he is picking you up from the hospital? Where are you both now?”
Han Muzi scanned her surroundings before explaining helplessly, “We are in the hospital now.”
Song An hesitated before asking, “Hang on, what is wrong there? Why are the discharge procedures taking so long? Moxuan left a long time ago. Are the discharge procedures not completed yet? Are there more people due to the festivities?”
“Aunty,” Han Muzi addressed her before elaborating. “We are done with the discharge procedures, but… we are back here again.”
Song An remained silent at the other end of the line.
Han Muzi pressed her lips tightly together when there was no response from Song An. Then, she turned to her side to glance at Little Bean and the rest of the group before turning back. “One more thing—Little Bean is here.”
…
The doctor had just attended to Ye Moxuan when Song An arrived at the hospital. The doctor explained that Ye Moxuan had merely passed out and there was nothing wrong with his health. However, Han Muzi couldn’t help but ask with a frown, “Is he doing fine? In that case, why did he pass out all of a sudden? He was breaking out in cold sweat when we were driving him here. Besides, he looked extremely pale.”
The doctor nodded and proceeded to ask about the situation when Ye Moxuan fainted. After all, the examination revealed that Ye Moxuan’s body was in tip-top condition. Hence, the reason for his sudden fainting depended on the situation when it happened. When the doctor asked about the situation at that time, Han Muzi, Yan and Xiao Su were all in the apartment. Hence, Little Bean was the only person with Ye Moxuan outside the apartment.
Han Muzi looked at Little Bean and she waved him over. “Little Bean.”
Little Bean waited for the entire day, but his mother did not even care to embrace him. She had anxiously waited at the entrance of the emergency room upon arriving at the hospital and didn’t seem pleased about his sudden appearance. Initially, Little Bean merely felt slightly bitter about the incident, but now he was even more aggrieved because his mother only thought about him when the doctor had a question.
“Come here.” Han Muzi half-squatted while beckoning Little Bean over.
Little Bean weighed his options and thought it was the best not to be angry with his mother in public because both of them would be embarrassed in the end. Hence, he approached Han Muzi obediently. She hugged him with an arm while pinching his cheek tenderly with the other. Her voice was gentle when she asked him, “Little Bean, you’re such a good boy. What happened to your daddy when you were both outside of the apartment? Things were fine when the two of you went out. Why did he pass out suddenly?”
Little Bean blinked several times while recalling the scene from before. Daddy hugged me out of the blue, and I told him, “Hmph! Hmph! Don’t you even think for a second that I’d forgive you so easily just because you are hugging me now!” Daddy seemed fine after I said that. In fact, he caressed my cheek after the hug and his eyes filled with warmth when he looked at me again. Then, I snorted and smacked his hand away. However, Daddy’s expression changed swiftly and he frowned deeply as though he was in a lot of pain. Initially, I thought that he was pretending, but I realized that he really passed out after he collapsed on the floor.
Thus, Little Bean recollected the entire incident to the doctor. The doctor was puzzled when he heard that. “What is this? Could he have fainted due to extreme headache?”
Headache? Han Muzi had a sudden realization at the mention of Ye Moxuan’s headache, as if she seemed to have grasped something. After meeting Little Bean, who is his splitting image, Ye Moxuan had a sudden and bad headache. Could this mean that Little Bean has triggered his memories?
Apart from that possibility, Han Muzi had no other plausible explanation. She blurted out when she thought of that, “Doctor, I forgot to inform you that my husband suffered from some brain injuries and he lost his memories.”
The doctor looked shocked when he heard that. “Are you saying that he has lost his memories after suffering from brain injuries? In that case, he…” The doctor glanced at Little Bean.
Han Muzi explained, “It’s his first time meeting his son.”
The doctor understood the situation instantly. “Well, it’s no wonder that happened because we examined everything and there’s nothing wrong with him physically. He might have sustained some injuries previously, but he has recovered well from them. However, now that you’ve brought that up, my guess is that this incident must have triggered the patient’s memories. The sudden stimulation within the brain might have resulted in excruciating pain and he could have passed out when the pain was too much to bear.”
Han Muzi asked hesitantly, “In that case, does that mean… that he has regained his memories?” If this is true, wouldn’t that be a blessing in disguise?
However, the doctor shook his head. “We can’t be sure about this. Although cases of memory loss have been documented, there are no specific ways of treating it. We can only be sure whether he has regained his memories after he wakes up.”
Han Muzi felt disappointed upon hearing what the doctor said. It would be great if a trigger like this could help him regain his memories. However, if it didn’t work, it would only mean that he’d still be bothered by his lost memories. What if this happens again and he passes out due to the triggered headaches?
Yan tugged on Han Muzi’s sleeve while whispering to her, “Don’t overthink. It’s fine as long as he is doing well and wakes up later. After today’s incident, he would surely regain his memories gradually. One day, Young Master Ye would recall everything from the past.”
Right now, Han Muzi only accepted Yan’s words with a nod.
Song An finally found them and dashed across the corridor. She was stunned to see Yan, Xiao Su and Little Bean gathered here before she approached them briskly after a pause.
“Aunty,” Han Muzi greeted her.
Yan and Xiao Su nodded politely at her since they weren’t close to Song An.
Song An asked swiftly, “What happened to Moxuan? What did the doctor say?”
Han Muzi relayed the doctor’s message to Song An, after which the latter nodded. “It’s fine as long as he is well.” After that, she looked at the child, who stood nearby, before squatting down. “Little Bean, why didn’t you greet me?”
Little Bean’s large and water eyes blinked several times when he heard that. Someone is finally paying attention to me.
“Grandaunt Song…” Little Bean greeted her pitifully.
Song An’s heart went out for him when she heard that. She sighed and took Little Bean into her arms. “You are such an obedient child. My heart melted right after you greeted me.”
“Grandaunt Song…” Little Bean greeted her again since she liked it so much.
Song An smiled happily and lovingly at him while pinching his chubby cheek gently. “Why didn’t you stay in China since it’s winter time? Why did you come all the way abroad?”
Song An felt as if she was looking at Ye Moxuan when she observed the child, especially since they looked alike. Her heart melted instantly into mush.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 914
Song An and Little Bean had previously never met because the wedding was held abroad. At that time, Song An was conflicted and reluctant to attend the wedding due to its location in another country. Hence, she immediately decided not to attend after she learned that there would be another wedding in China as well. I will be attending the wedding in China anyway. It’s fine as long as I attend one of them since they are the same after all.
However, what Song An had not expected was Ye Moxuan to meet with an accident and she almost passed out when she learned about the horrible news. After all, her late sister had entrusted him under her care. Fortunately, they had discovered Ye Moxuan and Song An was relieved to know this. Later On, Han Qing’s secretary, Su Jiu, met with Song An to inform her about Han Muzi’s situation. At that point, Song An did not respond immediately and instead claimed that she needed time to think about it.
I did not expect that old man, Yuchi, to be so stubborn. In fact, it was even more unexpected that the old man somehow saved Ye Moxuan by chance. Is this all ill-fated? Even though Ye Moxuan has a special spot in my heart, I honestly do not want to meet Yuchi Jin anymore. I still remember what had happened in the past vividly and I have mixed feelings about this.
Just when Song An was undecided and in a dilemma, Han Qing frowned deeply as he was quite upset after Su Jiu conveyed Song An’s wishes to him. He felt that his younger sister already had a difficult time all alone abroad. Furthermore, Han Muzi refused to let Han Qing help her at all. I’m not allowed to intervene with matters happening abroad. In that case, I suppose I could at least control whatever is going on in China. Thus, Han Qing looked for Song An in person and took Little Bean along with him in order to appear more convincing.
Song An was astounded when she met Little Bean for the first time. During that meeting, the child continuously addressed her as ‘Grandaunt Song’ with his childish voice as he pleaded for her help. It was within seconds of chatting with him that her heart softened. Upon learning about this matter, Yan sent a message to Han Muzi to update her.
Nevertheless, Han Muzi was unfazed when she received that piece of news because she knew that Song An and Little Bean would eventually have met each other. Song An was very fond of Little Bean because the child had a way with his words and he was always polite. He soon had her wrapped around his finger, but she had not expected him to fly abroad.
“It’s Chinese New Year now. Why did you fly abroad at this time? Isn’t it better to remain in China? Why did you all have to exhaust yourselves by flying all the way here?”
Song An glanced at Xiao Su while saying that and she pinched Little Bean’s cheek playfully.
Little Bean seized the chance to cling onto Song An’s arm while nuzzling against her hand affectionately. He explained in a boyish tone, “Grandaunt Song, I miss Mommy, Daddy and you badly. I’m not tired at all.”
When Song An listened to the order of the family members he mentioned, she couldn’t help but tease him, “I suppose you predominantly miss your mommy?”
Little Bean’s large and clear eyes blinked several times. “I miss all of you, Grandaunt Song. It must have been hard on you since you specially made a trip here. I’ve missed you all along.”
Song An burst out laughing. “You always make me happy and you are rather eloquent. You are so much better than your daddy’s sharp tongue.” He is Ye Moxuan’s child, but how could they be so different from each other? Ye Moxuan, that brat, is always causing trouble with his sharp tongue; it’s almost as if that’s his second nature. As his aunt, I’ve always been on the receiving end of his mean words in the past. Sometimes, he would even completely ignore me. Ye Moxuan is unlike the child in front of me. Little Bean melts my heart by addressing me as ‘Grandaunt Song’ affectionately.
“Grandaunt Song, that’s because the disciple has excelled his master.”
The atmosphere felt much livelier and it was no longer as awkward as it was before. Naturally, the main reason was because the doctor had announced that Ye Moxuan was out of the woods. If Ye Moxuan’s condition worsened, the atmosphere wouldn’t have improved at all.
The group stood for a while longer before Han Muzi broke the silence, “Aunty, today is Chinese New Year’s Eve. We should be sitting at the table for our reunion dinner at this time. However… I simply can’t leave under these circumstances. Yan and the rest of them have just arrived today as well and they must be exhausted. Why don’t you take them home for now and I will handle it from here?”
Song An’s expression became stern when she heard that and rejected Han Muzi immediately, “That won’t do. You were just discharged from the hospital. What should we do if something bad happens to you while you’re staying here?”
“I…”
Xiao Su took the initiative to offer his services. “Young Lady Ye, I am the only man here. You all should go home first and I will stay back to look after Young Master Ye.”
“Hmph!” Little Bean snorted loudly. “Mr. Xiao, I am a man too!”
Xiao Su was stunned to silence, but he flashed Little Bean a smile swiftly. “I almost forgot that you are a true man too, Little Young Master. However… you are still a child.”
Little Bean countered unhappily, “Mr. Xiao, are you looking down on me because I am young?”
Xiao Su clearly lacked the courage to look down on him. However, before Xiao Su could explain himself, Song An pinched Little Bean. “Why would Mr. Xiao look down on you? He is just concerned about you.”
Little Bean pondered for a while before deciding for himself. “I will stay with Mr. Xiao to look after daddy. Grandaunt Song and the rest of you should head home first.”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words when she saw that. In all honesty, I truly do not want to leave. How can I possibly go home when Ye Moxuan is admitted to the hospital? What would happen if something goes wrong when he wakes up? What should I do if he regains his memories?
After pondering, Han Muzi insisted on her decision. “I will stay here alone. All of you should head home first. I will phone you to keep you updated if there are any changes.”
“No.” Similarly, Song An insisted on her stand as well. “I am well aware of your condition, so I know that you are not suited to stay here to look after Moxuan. You should go home and rest after such a long day. Muzi, I must remind you that you are a pregnant woman.”
“But…”
“Enough with the ‘buts’. Let’s just do as Xiao Su suggested. He will stay put while we head home for now.” Song An wouldn’t have insisted for Han Muzi to head home if she weren’t pregnant or there had been no early signs of miscarriage. In fact, she would have agreed for everyone to stay in the hospital because she knew that everyone would be worried with Ye Moxuan still in the hospital after all. However, extraordinary circumstances required extraordinary measures and this was the best that they could do.
Yan tugged on Han Muzi’s sleeve. “Muzi, let’s listen to Aunty Song’s advice. I think what she said made sense. It’s so cold out here and I think it’s best that you return home with us for now. Xiao Su is a man and it should be fine for him to stay here.”
However, Little Bean volunteered suddenly at that moment, “I am a real man too! I will stay here with Mr. Xiao!”
Initially, Han Muzi wanted to refuse, but Song An nodded in permission. “Alright. In that case, Xiao Su and Little Bean should stay here and the three of us should head home. We will have a meal and a shower. After some rest, I will not stop you if you insist on coming over.”
Han Muzi was left with no choice but to agree to the plan. Before they left, Han Muzi turned around to glance at Little Bean and approached him before squatting down in front of him.
Little Bean was excited when he saw Han Muzi crouching down in front of him. He stopped himself from yelling what he had on his mind, Mommy, you are finally paying attention to me!
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 915
Looking at the little fellow before her who was dressed in a way that made him look chubby, Han Muzi could not resist the temptation to reach out her hand to pinch on his soft cheeks and console in a gentle voice, “Did I ignore you just now? Sorry, it happened so suddenly, and I was too startled that I ignored you. If you are angry with me, you can hit me to vent your anger, Little Bean.”
At first, Little Bean intended to pretend to be angry at most, but after hearing her words, he suddenly felt a lump in his throat. Hmph, bad mommy. She has been ignoring me for such a long time, so she should’ve just continued to do so. But now, she has stopped ignoring me, and she’s even saying plenty of things that make me feel touched. I don’t want to act like a baby in front of so many adults; I’m a man, so only Mommy can see my weak side.
Upon having such thoughts, Little Bean uttered, “Mommy, I’m not angry. I love you the most, and I won’t be angry with you.”
“Come on now.” Yan walked up to tug on Han Muzi. “We traveled abroad to come and find you. Little Bean is beyond happy to see you, so how could he be angry with you?”
As a mother, Han Muzi could feel something that others could not feel. She had ignored Little Bean just now, so the child would definitely feel hurt. A mother knew their child best, so though Little Bean said that he was not mad at her, Han Muzi could sense the upset feeling that he kept inside him. Nevertheless, if Little Bean refused to say anything, they would skip this matter for now. After this matter blew over, she would talk to him properly again.
“Alright. Then, I will go back first. You are a man, so you need to take care of your daddy together with Mr. Xiao. If you daddy wakes up, he—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Little Bean cut her off, “Mommy, don’t worry. Leave Daddy’s matter up to me. Aunt Yan and Grandaunt Song, quickly take Mommy away.”
Yan reached out her hand and pinched on Little Bean’s nose hard. “We shall leave first. Remember to give me a call if there’s anything.”
After the three people left, Xiao Su lowered his head to greet Little Bean, but Little Bean extended his arms without warning. “Mr. Xiao, please carry me.”
Xiao Su was puzzled. Though he was curious of why this little guy would suddenly ask him to carry him, he still did accordingly and picked him up. Nobody would have the heart to reject a request from such an adorable child. Moreover, he was Young Master Ye’s child.
“Mr. Xiao, do you think Daddy blacked out because I startled him?”
Hearing that, Xiao Su furrowed his brows. “Why do you say so? You are still a child, so don’t think too much. Haven’t you heard what the doctor said? Your daddy fainted because his brain was stimulated. It’s nothing serious.”
“Okay.” Little Bean nodded meekly. “Shall we go into Daddy’s ward together and wait for him to wake up? But if he wakes up and sees me, will he black out again?”
Xiao Su was a bit speechless. “Probably not.” After giving it some thought, he still took Little Bean into the ward to wait.
…
When Han Muzi, Song An, and Yan went back, they saw two figures at the door upon exiting the elevator. One stood there with a walking stick in hand, while the other pressed on the doorbell patiently over and over again. The sound of the elevator door sliding open made the two people turn to the direction of the sound, and they met one another’s gaze.
Yu Bo was the first to put a kind smile on his face. “Miss An, Young Lady Ye, so it seems that both of you have gone out. No wonder no one came to answer the door even after I pressed it for such a long time.”
Han Muzi and Song An were not surprised at all by Yu Bo’s appearance here as they did not hate him; they had a good impression of him instead. As for the other person…
That person held a walking stick in his hand and stood there with a gloomy face while glaring at Han Muzi with eyes filled with anger. “Is this the way you treat your elder?”
Han Muzi was certain that these words were said while his eyes were fixed on her, and she could even feel Yuchi Jin’s pressure from his aura, but she could not make sense of the situation. The way I treat my elder? She thought about it for a moment. Maybe what he meant is I didn’t greet him when we met. Thus with a smile on her face, she called out, “Hello, grandfather.”
Hearing that, Yuchi Jin nearly fell forward with the walking stick in his hand. He growled, “Y-Y-You, who gave you the permission to address me this way? I haven’t agreed to you being together with Xuan.”
“Why are you here, then?” Feeling displeased, Song An crossed her arms in front of her chest and stared at Yuchi Jin indifferently with a sneer. “It’s the night of Chinese New Year’s Eve, and here you are. Did you come here just to mock others?”
Upon hearing her own daughter’s rebuke, Yuchi Jin instantly felt that his pride was hurt, but he was reluctant to vent his anger at Song An for fear that she would leave again. After all, this daughter of his would only come back once in a blue moon. In the past, Yuchi Jin had always let them have their own way, and even if they refused to come back to see him for the rest of their lives, he wouldn’t go and look for them. However, ever since Song An appeared before him, all lively and energetic, it made him truly aware that he missed his daughter terribly.
Upon having such thoughts, he sighed. “An, I don’t have much time left to live. Can you not go against me?”
Hearing that, Song An’s lips twitched into a sneer. “Old Master Yuchi, are you asking me to take pity on you? Too bad this won’t work on me.” Her words made everyone look at one another in silence.
Song An said that without considering his pride at all. Though Yuchi Jin was indignant, he dared not use any harsh words on this youngest daughter of his, so he could only sigh. “Alright. If you think I’m asking for your pity, I won’t bring this up again. But today, I—”
“Why are you here today? We are going to have our Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, so we are not going to listen to whatever you are going to say today, nor we have the intention to even find out. Therefore, please go back!” Without any courtesy, Song An demanded for them to leave while tilting her body to a side to signal them to leave.
Yan, who was hiding behind Han Muzi, dared not make a sound. Oh, my. Is this Ye Moxuan’s grandfather? He seemed fierce when he spoke to Han Muzi, but he unexpectedly became a scaredy-cat when facing his own daughter. Nevertheless, he doesn’t seem like… a bad guy to me.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi, who was standing at the side, did not know what to say; she seemed to not have any rights to say anything anyway. After all, her identity had not been acknowledged by Yuchi Jin, so any words from her would make him dislike her even more. Therefore, she just stood at her spot without saying anything for the whole time.
Yuchi Jin was beyond furious. It is the night of Chinese New Year’s Eve, and here I am, asking Yu Bo to press on the doorbell; isn’t this obvious enough? Song An is my daughter, so it isn’t unusual for her to be displeased at me, but how about Han Muzi? Doesn’t she love Xuan? So why isn’t she speaking up for me?
Feeling enraged, he kept appraising Han Muzi and then shot a glance at Yu Bo. These untactful people!
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 916
Song An had clearly asked for them to leave, but the two men stood there motionlessly, like two statues that were mounted in place. If the two men refused to give way, there was no way they could open the door.
“Old man, are you listening? I’ve asked you to leave, so why are you still here?”
Yuchi Jin coughed, and Yu Bo understood the signal. He took a step forward and explained while smiling, “Miss An, this was what happened. We called Young Master Xuan, but he didn’t pick up the phone. It’s the night of Chinese New Year’s Eve, and both the Old Master and I were rather worried about him, so we came to check out.”
Hearing that, Song An raised her brows. “And then?”
Yu Bo chuckled twice. “Old Master wishes to see that Young Master Xuan is safe, and he will leave after that.”
“Tsk.” Song An sniggered aloud. “And if you don’t see him? Are you going to insist on staying here then?”
“I just want to wait here for my grandson to return. Is there a problem, An?” asked Yuchi Jin.
Song An intended to say something, but Han Muzi, who was at the side, seemed to understand some underlying meaning and quickly stopped Song An before taking a step forward. “There’s no problem. Grandfather, I’ll open the door. Please come in.”
Yuchi Jin finally heard someone say something pleasant, and so he snorted proudly. “At least you are tactful!”
Han Muzi could not help shaking her head inwardly before she stepped forward to open the door for Yuchi Jin and Yu Bo to enter. Yan sneaked in as well, and Han Muzi found Song An still standing at the door with a long face.
“Aunty?”
“Why did you let him go in? Today is the night of Chinese New Year’s Eve, so aren’t you asking for trouble by allowing him to stay?”
Holding her hand, she said in a gentle voice, “Aunty, don’t be mad. You too know that today is Chinese New Year’s Eve, so it would be lonely for an elderly like him to stay in a large house all by himself.”
Hearing that, Song An was stunned. Based on her words, she could easily picture Yuchi Jin staying in a large house all by himself, feeling lonely, with a variety of dishes placed in front of him but no one to talk to.
This scene was indeed pathetic.
But if that person was that old man, Yuchi Jin, Song An would not take pity on him because she found him despicable.
After all, a pathetic man certainly had something to be despised.
It was of his own doings that he became so pathetic. If he had not done what he did in the past, Song An and her sister wouldn’t have left.
Upon thinking about Song Xin, Song An’s expression became darker, and all her good moods were gone. She lowered her eyes and spoke coldly, “What’s so pitiful about him? My sister is more pitiful, since she is now buried under the freezing ground.”
Her sister…
Han Muzi was stunned as she understood that the person Song An was talking about was Ye Moxuan’s mother, who was also her mother-in-law.
As soon as Song Xin was mentioned, Song An’s aura instantly changed. Han Muzi dared not say anything, so she quietly explained, “Sorry, Aunty. I didn’t mean to let him in. I just feel that… family members are always bonded by blood.”
Hearing Han Muzi’s guilt in her voice, Song An came back to her senses.
“It’s fine. Just let it be.”
After she went in, Han Muzi stood in place for a moment before she entered.
The babysitter was supposed to come over to help, but since it was Chinese New Year’s Eve, Song An allowed her to leave earlier. She had planned to cook personally, and even the hotpot had been prepared.
But now? With Yuchi Jin here, Song An did not have the mood to do anything.
Besides, Ye Moxuan was still in the hospital, which dispirited her even more.
After the old man took his seat, he glanced around but failed to see Ye Moxuan’s figure. Hence, in a deep voice, he asked, “Where’s Xuan?”
Song An, who was sitting opposite him, replied to him in a cold voice, “Where he’s gone has nothing to do with you. Aren’t you here precisely to wait for him? Just wait for him here till he comes back and don’t ask any questions.”
Her attitude was as wicked as ever, enraging Yuchi Jin, but he dared not say anything harsh to her, so he twitched his lips and looked at Han Muzi at the side.
Han Muzi was clearing the dishes when she felt Yuchi Jin’s gaze on her. She asked, “Grandfather, Mr. Yu, you haven’t taken your dinner, right?”
Rubbing his hands together, Yu Bo grinned and nodded.
Yuchi Jin was about to say something, but when the corner of his eyes glanced at Song An, he let out a quiet snort from his nose.
As expected, before Song An could say anything, Han Muzi continued, “That’s great. We are going to have our Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner. Will the both of you join us?”
Yuchi Jin frowned as he pondered on how to reply to her, while Yu Bo nodded obediently. “Sure. I hope it won’t be too much of a trouble for you, Young Lady Ye.”
His words and honorific made Yuchi Jin furrow his brows even deeper.
What’s wrong with this guy, Yu Bo? I haven’t agreed with Han Muzi to be together with Ye Moxuan, but he’s started calling her Young Lady Ye!
Upon having such thoughts, Yuchi Jin darted a piercing gaze, which resembled a knife, at Yu Bo.
Feeling the piercing gaze that was directed at him, Yu Bo was not afraid. Instead, he beamed at Han Muzi cheerfully.
Based on my understanding of Old Master, he wouldn’t dare to tell me off before everyone now, and it seems like there’s nothing wrong for me to call her this way since Young Lady Ye is pregnant, and it would be too cruel to tear them apart.
Yan, who was clearing the dishes together with Han Muzi, looked at the two people in the living room and asked in a low voice, “Will they quarrel with each other during dinner later?”
Glancing at the living room, Han Muzi could not suppress her smile. “Probably not. Even if they do, it won’t involve us.”
Yan exclaimed, “What are you saying?!”
“Don’t worry. Didn’t you notice this—Moxuan’s grandfather listens to whatever Aunty says and he dares not say anything harsh, so they won’t quarrel with each other.”
Hearing her words, Yan carefully observed them and realized that what she said was true.
Upon seeing this, Yan felt relieved, but the next instant, she was worried for Han Muzi.
“Young Master Ye’s grandfather seems to dislike you. Is this how it has been all this while? Did he keep making things difficult for you? Did you have a hard time here alone? Muzi… I think I should just leave the company and come here to stay with you. You can tell me if you have any problems or difficulties.”
Yan felt a lump in her throat while speaking. She was Han Muzi’s best friend, so when she thought of Han Muzi staying alone abroad without anyone close around, and Young Master Ye had forgotten about her while his grandfather also kept getting in their way, she felt distressed for her.
Han Muzi was stunned. She then shook her head and stated quietly, “Come to think of it, I seldom get the chance to meet him.”
There was this one time when she was in the company, Yuchi Jin suddenly showed up and had Yu Bo hand her a cheque to ask her to leave Ye Moxuan. And during that time, she played dumb and got through it, so it seemed like there was nothing to be afraid of.
Besides, she felt that Ye Moxuan’s grandfather didn’t seem to be particularly difficult to deal with.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 917
Nevertheless, she seldom met with Yuchi Jin because Ye Moxuan protected her very well.
Thinking of this, Han Muzi put on a smile and casually replied, “I don’t think that I was having a hard time all this while. My wish was granted for him to have survived. God gave me a chance to be able to see him again and let me return to his side smoothly, so it is normal even if I have to endure even more hardships. Besides… I don’t hate Moxuan’s grandfather.”
On the contrary, I am very grateful to Yuchi Jin, Han Muzi thought to herself as she fixed her gaze on Yuchi Jin, who was sitting on the couch in the living room.
“I’m amazed by you. You don’t hate him even if he is such a stubborn old man. When I first met him, I felt that he was someone difficult to deal with. But why don’t you hate him?” Yan asked curiously.
Han Muzi lowered her eyes as she seemed a little depressed. “That’s because Moxuan’s life was saved by him.”
Yan’s expression seemed indifferent at first, but when she heard this, the expression on her face instantly froze, and it left her speechless.
The air crash had caused many people to lose their lives in the sea, and even their bodies could not be found.
Everyone had thought that Ye Moxuan could not come back alive from such a major accident. However, he managed to survive through it with only a change of his name.
He must have gotten immense blessings from the heavens to have survived through that.
And the person who gave Ye Moxuan a new life was Yuchi Jin.
What if Yuchi Jin had not saved him?
Yan could not help but shudder at the thought of this, and she immediately stopped her train of thought. Casting a glance at the old man, Yuchi Jin, who was sitting on the couch, words of criticism just could not escape from her mouth.
If I see Yuchi Jin based on what Han Muzi said, he seems to be less despicable.
After all, for Han Muzi, the greatest hope in her most devastating moments is Ye Moxuan. Therefore, not only won’t she despise the old man, she must feel extremely grateful to him.
“I understand. I won’t talk bad about him again. Don’t worry, Muzi!”
Han Muzi turned her head to look at Yan with smiles in her eyes, thinking that it was not difficult to enlighten Yan.
In Han Muzi eyes, she had never wanted to become enemies with Yuchi Jin. Despite his dislike for her, she would resolve their differences in a gentle manner and have him accept her.
Nonetheless, regardless of the opinions of others, she would never change her mind that she would never hate this old man.
…
When everyone gathered around and took their seats to have their Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, Yuchi Jin fell into a daze while looking at the scene in front of him.
It had been so many years…
He had always been eating alone. He had maids standing beside him serving him, but he had no close person next to him, not even one.
Sometimes, Yuchi Jin would talk to Yu Bo about his personal thoughts, but after all, Yu Bo had his own family, so he could not accompany Yuchi Jin during important celebrations.
“Mr. Yu, drink some soup to warm your stomach.”
Han Muzi’s voice made Yuchi Jin come back to his senses. He raised his eyes and saw Han Muzi serving a bowl of hot soup to Yu Bo grinningly, and Yu Bo immediately got on his feet to take the bowl with both hands. “Thank you, Young Lady Ye.”
Han Muzi said shyly, “Mr. Yu, just call me Muzi.”
Since Yu Bo was her elder, she felt awkward for him to call her as Young Lady, especially in front of Yuchi Jin, for this honorific would act as a reminder to him about their matter.
As expected, the next instant, Yuchi Jin pulled a long face, and he seemed mad.
But it was unknown to everyone whether he became mad because of how Yu Bo called Han Muzi ‘Young Lady Ye’ or because Han Muzi did not serve him soup.
Just when Yuchi Jin’s feeling of upset gradually rose, a bowl of hot soup was served in front of him.
“Grandfather.”
Yuchi Jin raised his head and met Han Muzi’s beaming face.
“Who asked you to serve me soup? Busybody!”
At that, Yuchi Jin did not push away the soup; instead, he stared at it eagerly to see if the amount in it was less than that of Yu Bo.
When he saw that the amount of soup in his bowl was more than Yu Bo’s, his anger slowly dissipated.
Han Muzi, on the other hand, was not bothered by him; she just smiled and walked back to her seat.
However, Song An was displeased and directly told him off. “Old man, if you are upset, you can just go back. You can go back to your large house and get all the maids in your house to serve you soup. Don’t show your attitude here.”
Her scolding made Yuchi Jin instantly become quiet without replying to her.
Feeling pleased after scolding him, Song An took a sip of the soup.
The dispirited expression of this old man totally uplifted her mood.
Song An prepared hotpot because it would be comfortable to eat hotpot during cold winter, especially when it would cause them to sweat profusely toward the end and make them feel warm.
Han Muzi had deliberately opened all the windows so that the smell would not linger in the room, and to ensure safety.
All the ingredients had been prepared, and they could eat whatever they wanted. Also, the pot they used was split into half at the centre; spicy broth was served on one side, and seafood broth, which was prepared for those that could not take spicy food, filled the other half.
Yan noticed that her favorite enoki mushrooms and potato slices were served. Feeling excited, she scooped a bunch of that ingredient and put them into the spicy broth to blanch them, and when she picked them up, the potato slices and enoki mushrooms were dyed red by the broth, which made them look appetizing.
The food was hot, but Yan was too eager to put them in her mouth, so she blew at them as she ate.
Looking at Yan, Yuchi Jin was at loss for words. Her table manners were so poor that she behaved nothing like a girl.
Just when Yuchi Jin was about to make comments about Yan, he saw his daughter scooping up a bunch of bacon and some ingredients she skewered together, and just like Yan, she blew at the food while taking large bites.
After that, Song An felt that the taste was too light, so she dipped it into spicy sauce before putting them in her mouth.
Yuchi Jin was speechless. He had never thought that his daughter, whom he had not met for many years, had… turned into this.
Feeling disappointed, he glanced at Han Muzi and found that she did not take large bites like Yan or Song An; she was using the communal strainer to blanch the seafood with a calm expression on her face.
Soon, she placed the blanched beef on a white plate, topped it with a saucer of sauce, and rose up from her seat before walking to Yuchi Jin’s side.
“Grandfather.”
Yuchi Jin was rather surprised as he had never expected that Han Muzi would care for him while eating, and she even blanched him some beef slices.
Though he never thought that she would take care of him, and it made him feel surprised, he still refused to be nice to her. “What is this? This beef is overcooked. How am I supposed to eat this?”
Han Muzi lowered her head and took a look at the beef she blanched.
The beef that she blanched was not overcooked at all, and the softness of the beef was just right. For meat, if one pursued only its texture and failed to make sure that the meat was cooked, there would be parasites in the meat, which would be easily consumed together with it.
Upon having such thoughts, Han Muzi put on a smile and explained, “Grandfather, this is my first time blanching beef, so I’m not very familiar with this. Please just make do with it. I’ll try blanching the lamb slices for you later.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 918
After that, Han Muzi placed the plate in front of Yuchi Jin before turning away and left.
Looking at the plate of blanched beef and then at Han Muzi’s back view, Yuchi Jin snorted. “Don’t think that I will eat it just because you placed it here.”
Yu Bo, who was sitting beside him, had finished half a bowl of soup, which stimulated his appetite. Upon hearing Yuchi Jin’s words, he spoke, “Old Master, if you dislike the overcooked beef, you can give it to me. My teeth are still strong enough to bite it.”
Hearing that, Yuchi Jin was enraged. “What did you just say? Did you mean that my teeth are weak?”
“You just said that the beef is overcooked, so…” Yu Bo touched his nose as he giggled.
Perhaps triggered by Yu Bo’s response, Yuchi Jin used chopsticks to pick up a slice of meat, dipped it in some sauce, then put it into his mouth. It was delicious, and the sauce had a unique taste that was different than what he usually had.
Unable to hold back himself, he asked, “What sauce is this?”
Song An replied to him, “Don’t ask. You won’t be able to buy it anywhere.”
“Why is that so?” Yu Bo asked.
Yan smiled shyly. “I made the sauce just now. Old Master Yuchi, do you like the sauce? Shall I make some for you to bring back?”
Hearing that, Yuchi Jin was shocked because he never thought that this young girl would know how to make this kind of sauce.
Han Muzi chimed in, “Yan is good at cooking. The sauce was made by her after she reached here.”
However, Yuchi Jin pouted. “I just asked what sauce this is. Did I praise it?”
Everyone was suddenly at a loss for words.
As they watched while Yuchi Jin picked up the beef slice with a pair of chopsticks and dipped it in the sauce before putting it into his mouth to chew, Yan and Han Muzi glanced at each other and found a hint on resignation in each other’s eyes.
Song An, on the other hand, scoffed bluntly without any considerations about his pride. “If that was not praise, then you were saying that it’s not good.”
With that, she got on her feet, extended her arms to take the sauce away, and placed it in front of her. “Don’t eat if you think that it’s not good. Don’t waste it.”
She then thought about it for a moment before looking at the plate of blanched beef that was placed in front of Yuchi Jin. With her lips curled up, she uttered, “That plate of meat isn’t delicious, is it? Maybe I should take them away too, in case you waste the food.”
After saying that, she quickly got up and took the plate of beef, which Yuchi Jin had only eaten two slices of, and placed it in front of her.
Yuchi Jin was speechless.
This youngest daughter of mine… is too intractable! T-This is too much!
He was furious that his brows seemed to perk up, but when facing his youngest daughter, he dared not say anything harsh, and he also indeed had nothing to say.
Yu Bo saw this scene and could not help but laugh inwardly. Old Master had conceded to Miss An for more than once, so he should have said something nice to ease their relationship. But the person being nice to him was Han Muzi, who was the person he could not help but pretend to be mean to. And when he was doing so, Miss An popped out to get in his way. Therefore, Old Master was so enraged to the extent that he was at a loss for words.
Upon having such thoughts, Yu Bo drew closer to Yuchi Jin and reminded him in a gentle voice, “Old Master, it’s better to talk less. Miss An is not someone easy to deal with.”
His voice was very low, but they were in the room, and Song An sat opposite them, so she could vaguely hear Yu Bo’s word. Narrowing her eyes, she asked, “Mr. Yu, who did you say is not easy to deal with?”
Yu Bo laughed awkwardly twice and didn’t continue the topic.
With that, this topic stopped here. Yuchi Jin thought that Yu Bo would explain a little, but he didn’t, and Song An didn’t ask further as well.
So is this what Yu Bo meant by talking less?
Just when Han Muzi was about to blanch another plate of beef slices for Old Master Yuchi, Song An suddenly pressed on her hand and scoffed, “The pot is here, and all the ingredients have been prepared. If a certain someone wants to eat, he should do it himself. After all, we don’t have maids here to serve him. If the person doesn’t want to do it himself, it’s better for him to pack up and go back to his large house. There’s a whole floor of maids waiting to serve him there.”
Han Muzi did not know how to reply. After Song An had put it this way, Han Muzi could not help Yuchi Jin even if she intended to do so initially. Yuchi Jin shot a glance at Song An, and a sudden regret filled his heart.
Why did I say such words just now? Couldn’t I just keep my mouth shut and eat quietly?
And now, not only can’t I eat that plate of meat, I also have to do it myself.
Nevertheless, at this moment, it was impossible that Yuchi Jin would want to go back to the cold, lonely mansion.
I can do it myself too; it is not that I don’t know how to, he scoffed internally.
With that, Yuchi Jin got on his feet to help himself.
As he started to move his hands, Han Muzi and Yan stopped eating and looked at him with worry.
After all, he was an elderly, and the boiling hot pot was not something one should mess with. They were worried that he might scald himself, or something unpleasant might happen.
Yan and Han Muzi exchanged glances, then Yan put down her chopsticks. “Erm… Old Master, perhaps I can help you.”
Song An cast a glance at her and spoke in a low voice, “Sit! You are Muzi’s friend, Yan, right? You are not the Yuchi residence’s maid, so there is no reason for you to serve him.”
Yan bit on her lower lips, not daring to say anything. After all, Song An had a very strong presence, and she was also Han Muzi’s elder.
After giving it some thought, Han Muzi stated in a gentle voice, “Though we are not the Yuchi residence’s maid, he is our elder after all, so we should help him. Aunty, grandfather, Mr. Yu, you can just sit and eat; Yan and I shall serve you.”
Now that Ye Moxuan was hospitalized, it would be hard for her if something were to happen to Yuchi Jin now.
Hearing that, Song An narrowed her eyes to appraise Han Muzi. Seeing that her eyes were filled with adamant, Song An thought about it for a while and decided to not disagree with her and just let her be.
Upon having such thoughts, Song An kept quiet, but Yu Bo replied to Han Muzi instead, “It’s fine. I can do it myself.”
Yuchi Jin chimed in as well, “I don’t need you to serve me; I can help myself.”
Yu Bo is almost my age. If he can do it, why can’t I?
“Did you hear that, Muzi? He doesn’t accept your kindness, so don’t waste your effort. Hurry up and eat, and after dinner, quickly go and rest. We need to go to the hospital later.”
Upon hearing the word ‘hospital’, something suddenly crossed Yuchi Jin’s mind, and he raised his head. “Why are you going to the hospital later?”
This question that he asked reminded him that the reason he came in was to wait for Ye Moxuan. But because of this meal, he had nearly forgotten about his initial aim; he actually thought that the reason he came was to have Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner together with them, and he had even forgotten about the fact that Ye Moxuan was not here.
At that instant, Yuchi Jin was displeased. “Where’s Xuan?”
When Ye Moxuan was mentioned, Han Muzi did not reply. Meanwhile, Yan kept silent as her eyes darted around.
Yuchi Jin’s appetite was lost, and so he put down his chopsticks. “I’m asking all of you a question.”
“Old man, you are so annoying. If you want to wait for him here, just do so. However, we have the right to not answer your questions.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 919
The bowl in Song An’s hand was placed on the table with a loud thud as she replied to him fiercely.
Yuchi Jin could not calm down when it came to Ye Moxuan. Though his daughter was furious, he could not suppress the urge to continue with his questions.
“What happened? I’m here to wait for Xuan indeed, but you need to explain why he is not here.”
The initially lively atmosphere became freezing cold almost instantly, and no one at the table had the appetite to continue eating. At that moment, the dining room became silent, and only the sound of the boiling broth in the pot could be heard.
As Yan saw that the potato slices that she threw into the pot had become mushy from boiling, she wanted to scoop it up, but under the current situation, she did not have the guts to do so, so she had to hold back herself.
After a long time, which felt like half a day, Han Muzi finally answered, “He’s in the hospital.”
Hearing that, Yuchi Jin started panting, and he got up on his feet at once. “Hospital? Why is he in the hospital? What happened?”
At first, Yuchi Jin thought that Ye Moxuan was not there because he was out, so he had the leisure to have Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner together with them. However, as soon as he heard that Ye Moxuan was in the hospital, he immediately lost his mood to have dinner.
“Yu Bo, stop eating. We are going to the hospital.”
However, at this moment, Song An spoke out to stop them. “Don’t waste your time. There is nothing you can do even if you go to the hospital now. It’s not a big deal that your grandson was admitted into the hospital. His memory was triggered, and he couldn’t withstand it, so he fainted. He is now resting in the hospital. Do you have any problem with that?”
Upon hearing Song An saying that his memory was triggered, Yuchi Jin was stunned, and unreadable emotions flashed across his old, cloudy eyes.
What she meant is that my grandson, Ye Moxuan, is about to recover his memory?
All of a sudden, Yuchi Jin felt an emptiness inside him. Right now, Ye Moxuan has not recovered his past memories, but he already keeps going against me; if he recovers his past memories, won’t he treat me more indifferently?
Nonetheless, what triggered his memories? Wasn’t he just alright before this? And he didn’t show any unusual reaction after meeting Han Muzi.
“What kind of a response is this?” Song An got on her feet and folded her arms across her chest while looking down at Yuchi Jin. “Are you worried that after he regains his memories, he will abandon you and leave? Right now, I would like to give you a piece of advice. If you are too stubborn, you will end up losing a lot of things. After all these years, if you have not repented on what you did, then I have nothing to say.”
The living room sank into an uncanny silence.
…
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
“Mr. Xiao, if daddy doesn’t wake up for the whole night, are we going to stay here all night?”
Hearing that, Xiao Su suddenly had an idea and turned to look at Little Bean.
“Little Young Master, are you tired? How about… I give your mommy a call to ask her to take you back?”
When Little Bean heard his words, he immediately shook his head in refusal.
“No. I want to stay here to wait for daddy to wake up.”
After saying that, something crossed his mind, and he stared seriously at Xiao Su. “Mr. Xiao, can you stop calling me Little Young Master?”
Xiao Su was stunned. “Why?”
“I know that you treat my daddy very well, so you can just call my name. My name is Little Bean.”
I don’t have the guts to call Young Master Ye’s son as Little Bean!
“Mr. Xiao? I only have this one request. Will you do it?”
Looking at his face and his adorable eyes and tone, Xiao Su realized that there was no way that he could reject him. Nodding, a word was let out from his throat. “Okay.”
Instantly, Little Bean’s face broke into a grin, revealing two rows of clean and white teeth. “Mr. Xiao, I want to hear you call my name.”
Xiao Su was speechless for a moment. This little fellow is so cunning; he is good in putting me on the spot.
Fortunately, he was just a child, so it was not difficult for him to call his name.
“Little Bean,” Xiao Su called out. Hearing that, the curvature on the corner of Little Bean’s lips increased, making Xiao Su have a sudden feeling that this child looked way more pleasing to the eye than Young Master Ye. Though they had faces that looked exactly the same, their personalities were entirely different.
When he was contemplating about this, the little fellow sitting opposite him suddenly asked a staggering question. “Mr. Xiao, do you like Aunt Yan?”
Upon hearing that, Xiao Su nearly choked on his saliva. When he came to his senses, he looked at him in a fluster while his eyes darted everywhere.
My thoughts were seen through by a kid?And in such a short amount of time, no less. Am I behaving that obvious? Doesn’t that mean that… Yan could feel it as well?
Upon having such thoughts, his expression became gloomy.
The corner of his eyes unconsciously glanced at the ugly scar on his face. He had always kept his fondness for Yan in the deepest part within his heart, and not to mention that now he had this ugly scar, which made him even less qualified.
Looking at the little fellow staring at him waiting for an answer, he could not refrain himself from reaching out to rub on his head. However, when his hand was about to touch Little Bean, it stopped abruptly, and after a moment, he drew back his hand and denied with a smile.
“What are you saying? That’s not true.”
He had not had much right to in the past, and now, none.
He had no right to like a nice girl, and no right to touch this cute little fellow before him.
Xiao Su’s every move and action was watched by Little Bean, including the moment when his hand was extended near his head but then retracted back.
Little Bean pouted. “Mr. Xiao, extend your hand.”
“Why?” Stunned, Xiao Su reached out his hand, and Little Bean set his hand in position before deliberately rubbing his head against it.
Xiao Su could feel his little head rubbing against his palm, and the faint itchy feeling felt as though it could clearly reach his heart. Looking at the little fellow before his eyes, he was at a loss for words.
“Mr. Xiao, it’s okay if you like her. You wanted to touch my head, but why did you retract your hand? I didn’t say that I don’t allow you to touch my head.”
Xiao Su could feel his heart become warm. He had never expected that Little Bean had such a clear mind that he could guess his thoughts.
And the first sentence he said just now was obviously referring to the fact that I like Yan.
I like her, but I dare not admit it. And Yan doesn’t know that I like her.
Am I overthinking this? Or it’s just that this kid is too bright…
No… he is merely a four- or five-year-old kid. It’s impossible for him to know so many things.
Xiao Su gently caressed his head for a while before taking his hand back.
“The world of the adults is very complicated. There are a lot of things that are not that simple. It’s hard to explain.”
Little bean cocked his head to a side. “But I don’t think that it’s complicated. Mr. Xiao, take my mommy and daddy as an example; they were separated for so many years because they made things complicated.”
Xiao Su was speechless. He did not want to admit it, but… that was indeed the truth.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 920
“Maybe you are right,” said Xiao Su as he put on a light smile.
Perhaps it was true, but the world of an adult was different from the world of a child.
When they were young, if they quarreled with their buddies, they could easily say, ‘Let’s make up’.
But after they grew up, these words became more and more difficult to express.
No matter it was between lovers, friends, or families; they were all the same.
“Mr. Xiao, do you think that what I said is right?”
“Yes. All that you said is right.”
“Then, Mr. Xiao, you like Aunt Yan. Am I right?”
“Why did you bring this topic up again? You’re a little kid; why are you so interested in adult’s matter?” asked Xiao Su.
Of course, he would not admit that he liked Yan.
In the past, he did not have the chance to convey his feelings to her; but now, he became more reluctant to tell her, because the person he was now had no rights to do so.
“Mr. Xiao, I’m just curious!”
Just when Xiao Su was about to reply to him, the door was knocked on once before it was pushed open. It was a nurse who came in to do ward rounds.
Upon seeing the nurse, Xiao Su was relieved, feeling as though he had been rescued.
After some check-ups, the ward was quiet again.
Fortunately, this round, Little Bean stopped asking him questions. Xiao Su thought about it for a while and stated, “Little Bean, I’m going out to get some air. You stay here for a moment; open the door and call me if there’s anything.”
“Okay.’” Little Bean nodded adorably, with smiles apparent in his eyes.
I’d never expected Mr. Xiao to be a scaredy cat.
After Xiao Su went outside the door, he sat on a chair placed in the hallways. As there was almost no place to rest his long legs, his legs were simply stretched out and placed in front. Letting out a breath, his whole body felt relaxed.
In the ward, Little Bean was left alone. After secretly calling Xiao Su a scaredy cat inwardly, he turned to Ye Moxuan, who was lying on the bed.
“Bad daddy, I haven’t even settled the scores between us, and you fainted.”
However, passing out won’t affect the fact that I’m going to settle the scores between us.
After giving it some thought, a smile suddenly appeared on his little face.
With a light but swift pace, Little Bean walked up to Ye Moxuan’s bedside. He quickly took off his shoes and thick coat, agilely climbed onto the bed, and his small-framed body kneeled beside Ye Moxuan.
Ye Moxuan had his eyes closed all the time as he was still in a coma.
Kneeling beside him, Little Bean looked at his handsome face and let out a loud snort. “Bad daddy, other than having this face, which looks exactly the same as mine, you don’t have any other good qualities!”
With that, he suddenly reached out his little hands to pinch on Ye Moxuan’s handsome face and pulled it in opposite directions forcefully, venting his anger on him as he said, “Bad daddy, not only you bully mommy, you also bully me. Then, you fainted without any reason and diverted mommy’s attention from me!”
Under the chubby hands, Ye Moxuan’s good-looking face gradually became out of shape. Staring at the face that was misshapenned due to his actions, a mischievous expression became apparent on Little Bean’s face.
It was a good thing that Ye Moxuan didn’t have plastic surgery done on his face. Otherwise, after having gone through such forceful pinching under Little Bean’s hands, his prosthesis might just fall off.
Little Bean had so much fun that he directly climbed on Ye Moxuan and rode on him, as though he was riding a horse. He sat on a position that was slightly higher than his tummy and continued messing with his face.
Just when Little Bean planned to take a photo of Ye Moxuan’s face with a phone, the man, who had been in a coma, had a little reaction.
Little Bean noticed that Ye Moxuan’s eyelashes flickered, as though it was a hint that he was about to wake up. Not wanting to let his daddy know about his mischievous doings, Little Bean released his hand and waited for a while, but Ye Moxuan still didn’t wake up.
Therefore, Little Bean became fearless, and again, he reached out his paws to that handsome face.
Snap! Little Bean’s hand was suddenly caught. Ye Moxuan eyes flicked open, his dark eyes casting a piercing gaze, and a menacing aura loomed over him.
Huh?
Little Bean had never thought that Ye Moxuan would wake up so fast. He was not awake just now, but as soon as he woke up, he caught his little hand.
“What are you doing?” Ye Moxuan, who had just woken up, had a hoarse but fierce tone.
Perhaps it was due to the fact that he just woke up, his reasons had not completely recovered, and his hands were tightly squeezing Little Bean’s. But when his eyes fell on that little face, he was stunned, and the sharp gaze from his eyes slowly subsided.
Little Bean’s initial thought was just to pinch Ye Moxuan’s face and play some pranks on him, but unexpectedly, as soon as he woke up, he caught his hand and squeezed it hard.
The sudden pain on his little hand made him furrow his brows. He instantly raised his other hand, and without any hesitation, he threw a punch at Ye Moxuan!
“Bad daddy, you’re actually bullying me!”
His soft, tiny punch stamped onto Ye Moxuan’s left eye with a thud.
Ye Moxuan was at a loss for words; this punch completely awakened him.
After he was discharged from the hospital and returned to Han Muzi’s rented house, he lost his reasons and temper, and then he heard a childish voice. When he turned around, he found that there was this little fellow who looked exactly the same as him. Before he could react, the little fellow threw him a punch. After that, Ye Moxuan took him out to have a word, then…
There seemed to be a lot of images that he had not seen before come rushing into his mind. They were fragmented, but they rammed impulsively into his mind, as though attempting to break a seal.
At that moment, Ye Moxuan felt an unbearable pain, and just when he was about to say something to Little Bean, he lost his consciousness.
The pain from his left eye pulled him back to reality. Groaning, he released his grip on Little Bean’s hand.
When his hand was freed, Little Bean quickly climbed away from on top of Ye Moxuan in an attempt to slip away swiftly.
“Wait,” seeing his movements, Ye Moxuan called out.
Little Bean’s movement came to a halt, and he raised his head and looked at him. “What?”
Though he could hear his displeasure in his tone, it was still a childish voice that belonged to a child. Coupled with the little face that looked exactly like him, Ye Moxuan could practically confirm that the little fellow before him was his own son.
And when he saw that this little fellow’s wrist was red due to his violent grip just now, he frowned and uttered, “What I did just now was unintentional. Does it hurt?”
With that, he sat up, stretched out his hand, and scooped the little fellow easily into his arms.
Although Little Bean was a boy, he was still a child with a ridiculously soft body. It made Ye Moxuan’s heart melt when he carried Little Bean in his arms. The pain in his left eye could no longer bother him as he could only focus on the grip mark on the little fellow’s wrist, and when he thought of the fact that he was his child, his voice and tone became gentle. “Let me see.”
After saying that, Ye Moxuan gently held Little Bean’s arm while his other hand covered the injured area and gently rubbed it. The expression on his face was incredibly serious.
Little Bean was stunned. It was the first time since he was born to receive serious and gentle care from a father, and its comparison with Han Muzi’s care made everything seem unreal.
