Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 961
Han Muzi was speechless upon hearing that.
She couldn’t help lowering her head to look at him with confusion on her face.
Where did this little fellow learn this? He’s still so young, yet he likes to gossip about adults’ affairs. Just yesterday, I had suspected that Xiao Su might like Yan, but why does Little Bean act like he knows it way earlier than me?
Soon, Little Bean buckled under Han Muzi’s gaze and told her the truth.
“Daddy told me that.”
Little Bean had betrayed his father again.
Han Muzi paused for a moment before asking, “Your Daddy told you about it?”
“Yeah. He told me that. So… Mommy, is it true?”
Han Muzi frowned as she never would have thought that Ye Moxuan would talk gossip with his son. She didn’t know that men were so gossipy as well. Even this…
“Don’t listen to your Daddy’s nonsense. I’ll talk to him about this. Just forget what he has told you. It’s better not to pry into adults’ lives so much, and you better not talk about this in front of Uncle Qing, Aunt Yan, or Mr. Xiao. Otherwise they would feel awkward. Got it?”
“Alright.” Little Bean nodded obediently. “Got it, Mommy.”
Of course, he wouldn’t listen to her.
At that moment, both mother and son went to their rooms with different thoughts in their minds.
Yan’s fever had gone down. Apart from feeling a little dizzy and heavy, she didn’t think that there was anything wrong with herself. She didn’t even know that she had a fever; she just thought that her headache was due to the hangover.
Hence, she didn’t think too much about it and rolled up her sleeves to cook in the kitchen.
As Xiao Su entered the kitchen, she was washing rice with her fair hands that were soaked in cold water.
When Xiao Su saw this, he immediately frowned and walked in.
“You have not completely recovered, right? Why are you suddenly doing this?”
His entrance was silent, so Yan was shocked when he suddenly spoke, and she raised her head to look at him.
“Xiao Su?”
She felt quite perplexed as she didn’t expect that Xiao Su would be here. After thinking about his words just now, Yan asked, “Why are you here, and what were you talking about just now? Recovered? When did I fall sick?”
The more she asked, the angrier she became. “Stop jinxing me! Do you wish for me to fall sick? Although you treated me to some food yesterday, don’t think that you can talk nonsense with me.”
Xiao Su remained silent upon hearing that.
When he saw Yan’s reaction, he subconsciously thought that Yan’s fever was so high that she didn’t realize what was going on. He strode to her with his long legs and stretched out his hand to place it on her fair forehead.
His actions took place in one go, and it happened very quickly.
Before Yan could react to that, Xiao Su had already raised his hand. At that instant, she thought that he wanted to hit her. Why does he suddenly become so short-tempered? I was just saying something, yet he now wants to hit me?
However, because she didn’t know what was going on, her actions were delayed as she stood rooted to the ground in a daze.
She didn’t even try to avoid him.
When Xiao Su placed his slightly cold hand on her forehead, Yan was stunned for a few seconds before she returned to her senses.
She raised her head and asked him, “What are you doing?”
Xiao Su didn’t take his hand away as he tried to gauge her temperature.
He had just entered from outdoors, and he didn’t have any breakfast yet as he woke up quite early. So, his hands were quite cold. Feeling the coldness, Yan took two steps back subconsciously and asked, “You want to warm your hands up this way? Come on, you—”
However, before she could finish her sentence, Xiao Su looked like he was dissatisfied with her action of taking a step backward. He directly walked toward her and grabbed her shoulder as he bent to place his forehead onto hers.
Yan widened her eyes and stood there in a daze with her hands still in the bowl of rice.
She looked at Xiao Su who was very close to her. They were breathing close to each other and she could even see the fine hair on his face.
She had known Xiao Su for a long time and had even mistaken that he liked her.
However, after she asked him, Xiao Su had denied it. He really didn’t seem to like her anyway. Since Yan didn’t like him that way, she didn’t put too much attention into it.
But what does he mean by doing this? Why does he suddenly act so intimately?
This was the first time that a man had taken the initiative to be so close to Yan, and she felt shy and nervous. Her eyelashes and lips trembled as she stuttered, “W-W-W-What are you doing?”
Xiao Su didn’t want to do anything except for gauging Yan’s temperature. After making sure that their body temperatures did not have a great difference, he breathed a sigh of relief.
She should be fine by now. Just now, he even thought that her fever was so high that she was confused.
When Xiao Su was going to back away, he suddenly realized that Yan had widened her eyes at him. Xiao Su froze after realizing that he had done such an awkward thing; he hadn’t thought too much about it earlier.
Now that he had returned to his senses, only then did he realize how inappropriate his actions were.
When Yan asked him what he was doing, Xiao Su felt that his ears had turned red in embarrassment, and he stepped away from her immediately.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.”
Yan widened her eyes. “What do you mean?”
“You had a fever yesterday, so I just wanted to gauge your temperature.”
Gauge my temperature?
“Who are you lying to? If you just want to gauge my temperature, do you need to stand so close to me? Are you trying to take advantage of me?
As Xiao Su retreated, Yan’s nervous feelings became slightly better. He had really scared her just now, as she thought that he wanted to…
She didn’t dare to think about it even further. If not, she would feel too embarrassed.
“No!” Xiao Su denied with a red face. “I wasn’t going to take advantage of you! I just used my hand to gauge your temperature. It’s just that… you avoided it. So, I just…”
“Stop denying it. Even if I stepped back, you can continue using your hand. If that doesn’t work, you can just ask me. You just want to take advantage of me.”
Hearing her answer, Xiao Su’s face and ears blushed red.
Seeing him this way, Yan also felt quite happy. She then narrowed her eyes to get closer to Xiao Su.
“This is the first time that I’ve seen such a shy man. With such a red face, are you thinking of some unsightly scenes?”
At that point, it felt like lightning had struck him.
Xiao Su never thought that Yan would tease him, so his blush deepened.
“Enough. You don’t have to explain anymore. I understand everything.”
What does she understand? Xiao Su really wanted to explain. Actually, he was quite worried that his actions just now would leave Yan with an impression that he was too frivolous.
However, Yan didn’t seem like she would listen to his explanations. After a while, Xiao Su said, “I’m not a frivolous person.”
Yan shrugged nonchalantly. “Okay. Got it.”
Xiao Su was speechless upon hearing that.
Seeing Yan who looked so nonchalant, Xiao Su remembered how she had sobbed for another man the night before. In that instant, he suddenly felt defeated.
Am I too late?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 962
Is it too late for me to fall for her?
Xiao Su had never thought of that.
Time had silently slipped through his fingers. After so many years, he hadn’t even confessed to her.
He thought that he would always have a chance, but he didn’t expect that before he could make his feelings clear, she had already fallen head over heels for someone else.
Right now, even when she teased him, she didn’t look shy or nervous at all.
Though Xiao Su didn’t really understand women, he knew about the basics.
He knew that most women would feel shy while facing those they liked. However, when she faced him now, there was no trace of shyness to be found.
Right now…
Xiao Su’s face fell. He pursed his lips without saying another word, and his entire vibe seemed to change. Before this, Yan thought that he was just a simple and pure man, and that he would blush if she spoke more to him.
However, now she suddenly felt that he was not a human anymore. Instead, he looked like a pool of dead water without any vitality.
On top of that, he even made her feel quite cold.
What… is going on?
Yan had clearly felt the change in him, so she bit her lips subconsciously. Did my words anger him?
“Hey, about what I said just now… I meant no harm. I didn’t mean to tease you. But you suddenly leaned so closely to me, so of course I will misunderstand you.”
Xiao Su raised his head and smiled at her slightly.
“I’m sorry. It was my fault. Since your fever has gone down, I shan’t disturb you anymore.”
With that, he turned around to leave the kitchen. When Yan realized his actions, she thought to herself, He seems to be?
Something’s not right…
Why would he need to escape as if something is chasing after him? I just teased him for a bit, yet he already became so terrifying. On top of that, I didn’t mean to tease him. He is the one who leaned close to me first.
Thinking about the close contact just now, Yan’s heart pounded quickly.
She shook her head as her body gave a jolt.
Xiao Su, you b*stard. Why did you suddenly get closer to me? We are just normal friends, yet you suddenly do this. When we meet again in the future, would it be very awkward?
After thinking about it, Yan suddenly felt that it was nothing. Since he had already done this, if he didn’t feel that it was awkward, she had no reason to feel that way either.
After Xiao Su came out of the kitchen, he decided to head back to his hotel. After making sure that Yan was fine, he had calmed down.
When he was about to leave, he suddenly ran into Han Qing who just came out of his room.
Thinking about Yan, Xiao Su couldn’t help but shoot an extra glance at Han Qing.
He was an upper-class man, and the vibe he was giving off could not be compared to ordinary people. He was quite good looking with a sharp edge within him that shone through. Apart from that, his eyes exuded calmness, and he was the backbone behind the entire Han Group.
As a man, even Xiao Su thought that Han Qing was an excellent man.
Let alone a woman.
Hence, it was reasonable that Yan would fall for him.
Looking back at himself, he was just a lowly assistant without any amazing qualities to flaunt. On top of that, he had a scar on his face. For someone without any additional talents, he had nothing to compete with Han Qing.
He didn’t even have the right to be Han Qing’s rival.
Thinking of this, Xiao Su mocked at himself internally before retracting his gaze as he walked outside.
Han Qing realized that someone was looking at him when he was about to walk into the kitchen. When Xiao Su retracted his gaze, Han Qing stopped to look at the slim yet powerful figure.
He… came from the kitchen just now.
The kitchen…
Han Qing pursed his lips and regained his composure as he walked into the kitchen.
Yan had finally finished washing the rice. Just when she had pulled herself together, she saw Han Qing entering the kitchen. Her energetic expression suddenly changed to one of shock, and she didn’t even dare to look at him.
She saw a few tomatoes on the table, so she quickly washed them and prepared to cut them.
Yup. If I focus on doing my own stuff, I wouldn’t notice him anymore.
She took a knife and cut the tomatoes into halves, then further cut them into thin slices.
Just then, she heard Han Qing pouring water beside her, and her thoughts drifted away.
Actually, she was being too wilful yesterday.
Han Qing had already rejected her clearly. Naturally, he didn’t wish for his sister to misunderstand that something was going on between them, so it was quite reasonable for him to ask her to remove the jacket and buy another one.
However, Yan felt aggrieved about it. Why does he treat me like this? I’m a woman!
Because of that, she threw a tantrum and asked the shop assistant to return the jacket to Han Qing without going out to see him, and she also asked him to leave earlier.
She only had one thought at that time—if she made a scene, Han Qing would probably feel sorry for her and would try to coax her. After all, when he took off his jacket to give to her, he probably cared about her.
However, she had underestimated him.
This person was Han Qing after all. It was quite impossible that he would coax her because of the little tantrum that she threw.
It was quite foolish of her to do that with such thoughts yesterday.
Right now, Yan felt quite remorseful. If she knew this earlier, she wouldn’t have done that and would have just bought the clothes obediently. After that, she would offer to hold the clothes for him and say some nice words, and they would have some alone time after they reached home.
Yan realized that she had to change her tactics. Acting sweet and clinging to Han Qing were clearly useless.
However, it seemed that if she suffered a little, Han Qing would frown and shoot her an extra glance.
Yesterday, Han Qing was concerned after seeing that she was wearing very little.
If she changed her tactics and looked pitiful, would their relationship develop more smoothly?
When she was thinking about that, Yan suddenly felt a sharp pain on her fingers. Before her brain could process it, her body reacted immediately and she exclaimed out loud.
At that moment, Han Qing was drinking water. When he heard her exclamation, he turned to look at her.
He saw that Yan had accidentally cut her fingers. Blood was oozing out of the wounds, mixing together with the red tomato juice.
Upon seeing that, Han Qing put down his glass immediately before walking over to her and taking her hand. Then, he pulled her to the tap and washed her wounds clean with running water. “Are there any band-aids?”
When she heard the question in his cold voice, Yan nodded blankly. “Probably.”
Probably?
Han Qing frowned. “Wait here.”
After Han Qing had walked out of the kitchen, Yan was still standing by the sink and holding her wounded hand. As she thought about the close contact with Han Qing just now, a sweet feeling gradually took over her.
She had been thinking about changing tactics to make herself look more pitiful, but she never expected that God would help her this quickly.
She actually managed to cut herself accidentally while Han Qing was there.
Indeed, men like him would only come forward after seeing that others were hurt or that they needed help.
Although she was in pain, Yan didn’t feel upset at all. Instead, she blinked and smiled.
I seem to have understood… the proper way of pursuing Han Qing.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 963
Since Han Qing told her to wait, Yan did not budge from her spot until he returned. Despite still bleeding from her wound, her heart felt full. She started to imagine a future for her and Han Qing. If things continued to progress this way… At that thought, she giggled to herself.
When she heard footsteps outside, she quickly wore a normal expression and stared at the wound—it seemed like it was not bleeding as much as before. She brushed her hand over the wound abruptly. Then, bright red blood started to rush out again. Since things turned out that way, she decided not to let the opportunity go and take advantage of herself getting injured.
When Han Qing entered, Yan was already in position. She stood there and stared intently at her wound with a frown on her face.
He walked over to her and noticed the wound had started bleeding again. He then frowned. “How did this happen?”
Yan shook her head in distress. “I don’t know…” Her voice sounded weak and made her seem like a pitiful little bunny.
Han Qing did not respond. Although he was not aware of what happened, he did not have any suspicions either. He cleaned off the fresh blood on her hand and disinfected the wound with a cotton bud. Then, he put a band-aid over it.
She was lost in awe as she watched him treating her wound in such a serious manner when he suddenly looked at her and asked, “Does it hurt?”
It took her a moment to respond before she nodded. “It hurts.” However, her behavior earlier did not seem like she was in pain so it felt slightly ironic to say that. She added, “Actually, it doesn’t hurt that much.”
It’s such a big wound. How does it not hurt? He shot her a glance then looked away and pursed his lips without saying a word.
Yan looked at her wound all covered up and her heart was full. “Thank you.”
In a bleak tone, Han Qing said, “It was just a coincidence. I happened to be here and it would go against my principles to just watch and do nothing.”
However, she couldn’t care less about the reasoning behind his intentions. She already found a way to win him over that seemed foolproof and the future was looking hopeful for her.
“Stop what you were doing and don’t let your wound get in contact with water for the time being.”
Yan nodded her head obediently. “Okay.”
After he advised her, he turned around to leave.
Looking at his back, Yan blurted out, “Wait.”
Han Qing stopped in his tracks. “What’s wrong?”
She bit her lips and considered for a while before she said slowly, “Last night, did you—”
“No.”
“I haven’t said anything yet. How could you just—”
For some reason, his hasty answer seemed to have given him away as though what happened the night before was real and not just a dream. However, his proceeding words hit her like a bucket of cold water. “I know what you want to ask but regardless of what you’re thinking, it didn’t happen. It won’t happen, and it’ll never happen.
Yan was speechless.
“I made it extremely clear to you before. Stop holding on to those fruitless thoughts and invest your feelings in someone else instead.”
“I’ll decide for myself who I choose to invest my feelings in. You might not like me, but you don’t have the right to tell me who I should like. If you say it didn’t happen, then I’ll take your word for it. Besides, I’ve already made my decision.”
Decision? Upon hearing that, he almost wanted to ask her what she meant. But, it did not seem appropriate to ask in that situation so he chose to stay quiet. “Do what you want,” he said and left.
She was not the least bit depressed, however. Once he walked out, she looked down at the band-aid on her finger and felt happy. After she lingered for a moment, she also walked out of the kitchen and went into her room to get her phone. When she went in, Han Muzi was having a conversation with Little Bean.
As soon as he saw her, Little Bean called out, “Aunt Yan.”
“Little Bean. You’re finally back.”
“Yes!” He tilted his head. “Aunt Yan, I heard from Grandaunt Song that you had a fever. Are you a little better now?”
“I’m totally fine now.” I had a fever? How did I not know about this? Was that why Xiao Su tried to take my temperature earlier? Does that mean I misunderstood everything? Whatever. It already happened so it doesn’t matter anymore. She did not have time to tend to Little Bean and Han Muzi. Making a little run to her bedside table, she knelt beside it, grabbed her phone, and took a picture of her finger.
“What happened to your hand?” Han Muzi asked with a frown on her face. Just then, she noticed the bandaid on Yan’s finger as well as the faint trace of blood on it.
Yan chuckled. “It’s nothing. I just got hurt.”
“You’re that happy about getting hurt?” It did not feel right no matter how she saw it.
Yan was taking photos of her bloody band-aid at all angles in an extremely delighted way as though it was some kind of treasure.
Little Bean blinked his eyes and asked suddenly, “Aunt Yan, did my uncle put that band-aid on for you?”
Han Muzi narrowed her eyes. Seeing Yan treat her finger and the band-aid on it like they were treasures, she thought Little Bean might have been right. She did not expect him to gauge the situation faster than she did—he was able to tell with just one look.
Yan took quite a few pictures before putting her phone down. Then, she looked at Little Bean. “Don’t be a smarta*s. It’s not good to know too much.”
“Alright then.” He nodded his head slowly.
“It seems like what Little Bean said is true. That band-aid…”
Yan giggled. “Muzi, I’m one more step closer to my goal now. Your brother went into the kitchen earlier to drink some water right as I cut my finger. Then…” She went on in a coy and bashful manner and her expression was filled with pure delight.
All he did was put on the band-aid for her. Her hand got injured, yet she looked so happy. She was too easily satisfied. Han Muzi was not happy to see Yan like that at all and was not able to force a smile on her face.
“Muzi, I finally know how to win your brother over.”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded. She looked at the wound on Yan’s finger and connected the dots in her head. “Don’t tell me…”
“It’s exactly what you’re thinking.”
“Have you lost your mind?” Han Muzi’s eyebrows knitted together tightly. She looked at her with an unhappy expression and said in a small voice, “That method is too extreme.”
“Hey, it’s not as dramatic as what you’re thinking. I will be very, very careful. What happened today was just an accident but it also showed me what I should and should not do.” Then, Yan turned toward Little Bean with much confidence. “Little Bean. You just have to wait until I get promoted to become your actual aunt!”
Little Bean raised his neck and thought, Seeing Aunt Yan this confident makes me want to put her down.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 964
The plan Yan came up with gave Han Muzi a headache. Nonetheless, she had to be careful with her words since Little Bean was beside her and she did not want to give him the wrong idea.
Feeling the change in the room’s atmosphere, Yan grabbed her phone and walked out. However, she did not know where to go after that.
By noon, Ye Moxuan was still not back yet. Han Muzi thought, How did he get so lazy? Xiao Su brought Little Bean over early this morning in his place, yet he is still asleep in the hotel now? Did he not sleep well last night?
At this point, she did not expect him to come back. Instead, the Yuchi Family sent Yu Bo over once again to pick Little Bean up. She let Little Bean visit Old Master again to get on his good graces.
It was Chinese New Year but the house felt cold and empty. That made Han Muzi feel extremely miserable. Looking down, she rubbed her small belly and said softly, “My baby, you’re the only one I have now.”
…
“You still want to continue today? Didn’t I tell you yesterday to take a couple of days off?” Jason looked in astonishment at Ye Moxuan, who was standing in front of him. As Ye Moxuan’s best friend, he could not help but nag him. He wanted Ye Moxuan to benefit from more long-lasting results in his treatment instead of acting recklessly like that all the time.
“Yes, let’s continue,” Ye Moxuan said bleakly without a change in expression. If it were not for his pale face, Jason would have assumed that he was normal.
Jason snickered. “Do you think that doing this every day will work?”
“Weren’t you the one who proposed this?” Ye Moxuan looked up at him sharply.
Although they were best friends, Jason was always scared of Ye Moxuan. His gaze alone was immensely burdensome. I think I should just give in.
“Fine.” He decided not to nag him anymore. After being friends for years, Jason knew that he was not able to convince Ye Moxuan and that he could only keep watch from the side.
…
When their session ended, Ye Moxuan was pale from the cold and looked even worse than before, but there was still no progress. On the way back, Xiao Su was not able to hold back after seeing his face and said, “Young Master Ye, if you keep this up, Young Lady Ye will find out as soon as you get home.”
“Then I won’t go home,” Ye Moxuan replied bluntly.
“Won’t go home? Young Lady Ye might ask questions, and there’s Little Young Master too…”
“There is quite a lot to do at the company lately. We’re not in the country right now so there’s no need to celebrate the Spring Festival. After working during the day, I need to rest at night too.” Even though it sounded cruel, he desperately wanted to recover his memories. Moreover, he did not want to worry Han Muzi. With that personality of hers, she would never let him attend those sessions again if she ever found out. She would even tell him that it did not matter even if he did not recover his memories.
Xiao Su found his reasoning far-fetched. Licking his dry lips, he said cautiously, “Even if you’re busy with work, you avoid going home, right?
“Hm?” Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrows slightly then narrowed his eyes. “Do you have an objection?”
Met with his sharp and strong gaze, Xiao Su tensed up. “No. How could I? I just wanted to come up with a better idea for you, Young Master Ye. Since you’re not home every day, Young Lady Ye will start to catch on.”
“Do you have a better idea then?”
Xiao Su hesitated. “No.”
“Then, just go with what I say. We can keep going as long as we don’t get caught.” Who knows? My memories might return in the next two days. By then, it won’t matter even if Han Muzi tried to stop me.
“Okay, then.”
That was the only thing they could do at that point.
…
The festive season was a boring time for Han Muzi. She received news that Ye Moxuan was busy with work and was not able to return home for a few days. Before she even reacted, Yan, who was next to her, already started to get fired up.
“What the heck? He abandoned his wife at home and chose to work during Chinese New Year instead? Has Young Master Ye…” She hesitated and looked around to make sure Ye Moxuan was not lurking somewhere before she continued, “Lost his mind?”
Xiao Su was defeated too. He only went there to pass on the message. Furthermore, he could not say too much as he did not want to let the cat out of the bag. After passing on the message, he was going to leave immediately. However, he also wanted to stay and see Yan a bit longer.
“He doesn’t have a choice. It’s the festive season in our country but they don’t celebrate it overseas, so the company has to keep operating. As the company’s president, Young Master Ye has to set a good example.”
“Set a good example?” Yan curled her lips in scorn. “I find it hard to believe that such a big company will not be able to do without him for a few days. Isn’t the domestic company operating just fine without him right now? Stocks did go down slightly, but I don’t think taking a short leave will affect that too much?”
“Besides, this is an important festival for us where we all have reunions at home. But he… Look, I’m not trying to criticize him, but I just want to speak up for Muzi.” Yan’s words were all painstakingly true. Xiao Su also felt like his reasoning was far-fetched, so he struggled to respond to her.
However, Han Muzi stayed calm the whole time as though everyone else was overreacting.
“Muzi, say something. Aren’t you angry at Young Master Ye for doing this?” Yan tugged on Han Muzi’s arm as she asked.
Han Muzi lifted her head and patted on Yan’s hands to console her. Then, she turned toward Xiao Su and asked, “Is that what he told you?”
Xiao Su did not expect Han Muzi to stay so calm either. Without being able to figure out her inner thoughts, he just nodded. “Yes. Young Master Ye told me that. He also wants me to drive Little Bean back and forth from now on so he can focus on handling business at the company.”
“Okay, I got it.” Han Muzi gave a small smile. “Sorry to bother you with sending Little Bean back and forth. Oh, that’s right. If Little Bean is happy to be at his great-grandfather’s place, then let him stay there for a few days. Once his dad is finished with all his work, we’ll bring him back.”
Xiao Su agreed then left to report back to Ye Moxuan. When he was gone, Yan said through clenched teeth, “Muzi, why are you such a pushover? Everything he said sounded like a lie to me. Does it make sense to not come home because of work?”
Han Muzi nodded. “I know it doesn’t make sense.”
Yan looked at her in surprise with widened eyes. “You don’t believe it, yet you—”
“What kind of person do you think he is?”
Him? Yan was dumbfounded. She’s referring to Ye Moxuan. I don’t think he’s a bad person and he even treats Muzi very well. So this time… “Are you saying there’s a reason he suddenly doesn’t want to come home?”
Han Muzi replied, “It seems to me that there is a hidden agenda behind him wanting to stay at a hotel with Xiao Su all of a sudden.”
Yan felt like she did not have enough brain cells to process everything. She asked with a blank expression on her face, “What do you mean? A hidden agenda? Muzi, is he having an affair?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 965
When Han Muzi heard the word ‘affair’, the corners of her lips twitched and she just looked at Yan without saying a word. “May I ask where you get these strange ideas from?” Who would have thought of an affair?
Under Han Muzi’s gaze, Yan reached up to cover her mouth with her hand then smiled awkwardly. “You know my mind is a little weird so I’m also a little more slow-witted…”
Even if you’re weird, you can’t be this weird, Han Muzi thought.
Yan knew that she had misspoken. She looked at Han Muzi and motioned to lock her lips, indicating that she was not going to speak so carelessly anymore. However, Han Muzi knew Yan all too well. She just thought that Yan had a unique way of seeing things and did not see her comment as inappropriate nor did she get angry. She then thought over the matter in her head. Ye Moxuan was hiding something from her. As for what it was, she had no idea. However, she figured that it was not a small matter since he did not hesitate to come up with an excuse for it. She was stuck in a dilemma. Should I pretend like I have no clue or should I confront him right away? What exactly is this mysterious thing that he’s up to that he doesn’t even want to see me?
As she had not seen him yet, she came up with two predictions—one was good and one was bad. Naturally, she was biased toward the good prediction. She did not want to believe that her man was doing something bad behind her back. If she saw Ye Moxuan’s complexion then, she would have stopped him.
“Mm-mm.” She pulled herself back together after she felt someone tugging at her sleeve. Yan had her lips pursed and was making some noises but did not talk.
“What is it?” she asked. Yan still did not talk and just pointed to her mouth.
Han Muzi stared at her for a moment. Suddenly, she remembered the locking motion Yan did on her mouth earlier so she would not speak carelessly. Does she have something to say now?
“Are you asking me to unlock your lips?” she asked as she tilted her head.
Yan nodded her head forcefully.
“Oh.” Han Muzi let out a small smile. “I’m not going to. You can just stay like that.”
She stood up and Yan’s expression turned urgent. Stretching her body, she went on, “Oh, I’ve been sitting for too long and my legs feel uncomfortable. I’m going out for a walk.”
Upon hearing that the pregnant woman was going out, Yan could not let her go alone so she followed behind her. Along the way, Yan wanted to talk, but each time she looked to Han Muzi to give her permission to speak, Han Muzi looked away and pretended she did not notice Yan’s plea.
At last, Yan reached her limit and yelled, “I’ve had enough!”
Han Muzi laughed. “You’re finally dropping the act?”
Yan complained. “I’ll die of frustration if I go on any longer! Muzi, you’re so mean. I kept looking at you but you did not even acknowledge me once. If I died, you won’t have a sister-in-law in the future anymore.”
“I’m not mean. You were the one who locked yourself up earlier. Also, are you so sure that you’ll be my sister-in-law?”
“Hmph! I’m just going to put all my effort into that. We shall see if you’d still bully me after I become your sister-in-law!”
“Oh… Since you’re thinking of bullying me in the future, should I just nip this in the bud now to prevent any problems in the future?”
That threat made Yan surrender immediately. “I was wrong. It wasn’t me who said that earlier!”
After they went around once, Han Muzi started to feel tired and said, “Let’s go back.”
…
On the first and second day, Ye Moxuan did not return. On the third day, Ye Moxuan was still nowhere to be seen. On the fourth day, Xiao Su was still the one who reported to Han Muzi. On the fifth day, Han Muzi was growing impatient and Yan began to bad-mouth Ye Moxuan again. As the sixth day came, Han Muzi looked at Xiao Su with a grim expression on her face.
Xiao Su felt a chill on the back of his neck and shuddered involuntarily. As he was about to speak, he heard Han Muzi ask, “He’s still not coming back today?”
Xiao Su swallowed the words he was about to say and nodded his head cautiously. “Young Master Ye—”
Before Xiao Su could finish, Han Muzi stood up and said lightly, “It’s already the sixth day. What is he up to? You still can’t tell me?”
“Uh, about that… He’s just been super busy at work!”
“Xiao Su, you liar!” Seeing Han Muzi confront him, Yan also stood up and berated, “It’s so obvious, yet you’re still here lying through your teeth. You’re better off just telling us now.”
Xiao Su was stunned. He did not expect Yan to scold him and he looked at her with a torn expression.
“You don’t have to tell us. I won’t force you.” Han Muzi knew that Xiao Su was not saying anything because Ye Moxuan had ordered him not to. If Xiao Su were to say something, it might be detrimental to Ye Moxuan. As such, she understood. “I’ll get someone to look into it. Go back and tell him that if he doesn’t want me to know, then he better make sure that I never find out.”
Xiao Su was speechless. Young Lady Ye sounds so firm. At that moment, he was not able to defend himself. He was never someone who had a way with words so he just nodded. “I got it, Young Lady Ye. I will let Young Master Ye know everything you just said.”
“Please do.”
Before he left, he glanced at Yan again. She was looking at him angrily as she scolded, “Idiot. Why don’t you just tell Young Lady Ye now? Won’t she know eventually once she looks into it? You were able to deceive us the past few days, but you’re still being stubborn now even though Young Lady Ye has caught on and is going to start looking into it? Who is she to Ye Moxuan? Is there anything between a married couple that can’t be discussed? You can still be in her good books if you tell her now. After all, if she doesn’t blame you, then Young Master Ye won’t do much to you either.”
Yan thought, You can’t offend a woman, let alone a woman superior to you.
Han Muzi was not short-tempered. Even if she was that kind of woman, she was still the one that was being kept in the dark at this point. One day, everything would come to light. The day they would finally have a heart-to-heart pillow talk, it would only take one sentence to decide what to do with Xiao Su. I don’t know what is in that brain of his. He doesn’t know how to be flexible!
After getting an earful from Yan, Xiao Su also saw some truth in her words. I was able to go through the past few days smoothly because Young Lady Ye didn’t look into it. Now that she’s going to look into it, it’s only a matter of time before she finds out. Wouldn’t it be better if I just told her now?
Xiao Su glanced at Yan again and had a grateful expression on his face. He finally said, “I’ll tell you everything then.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 966
Xiao Su had not returned. Ye Moxuan started to grow suspicious but he could not be certain. He wanted to call Xiao Su to check up on the situation, yet he worried that he would expose himself. After he waited and pondered for another five minutes, Xiao Su was still not back yet. As such, Ye Moxuan grabbed his car keys and headed out.
It was already the sixth day. He had not seen her for six days. He felt bitter on the inside but the reality was cruel to him. He experimented several times over those few days. However, no matter how long he stayed in the water, he only lost spirit as it did not help him at all. Other than feeling a slight familiarity as he met people from his past, he did not remember them nor show any signs of regaining his memories. Even if there was some progress, he only feared that it was a false alarm and was not too eager about it.
After Ye Moxuan arrived, the expression on Jason’s face changed when he saw him.
“You still want to continue today?” Jason asked carefully. They had done those sessions for several days in a row. Each day that Ye Moxuan came, his complexion looked worse than the day before. Jason feared that something would happen to him. Other than his complexion, however, everything else about him seemed normal. Furthermore, he always looked desperate to recover his memories whenever he went to Jason to begin their sessions—this made it hard for Jason to refuse him.
“No.” To his surprise, Jason heard a different answer from Ye Moxuan this time. Normally, Ye Moxuan would look at him with a bleak expression and simply utter the word ‘continue’. Then, Jason would have no choice but to carry out the session. However, he finally said no today. Jason assumed Ye Moxuan had thought it through and instantly felt excited. “Moxuan, you finally came around. I told you before that it’s better to experiment for one day then rest for a few days. That way, you won’t overexert your mind and body and also reduce the chances of risks happening. Who knew you would be so adamant to do it your way. I felt scared and anxious as I watched you every day. It’s good that you’ve thought through it now. So—”
Ye Moxuan frowned and had a look of annoyance on his face. He did not have the patience to hear Jason talk any longer. He cut him off abruptly, “Do you have time?”
“Huh?” Jason stopped as he got cut off and shot a doubtful look at Ye Moxuan.
Ye Moxuan narrowed his eyes. “I can’t keep waiting for my memories to return slowly like this anymore. It will only be a waste of time to keep dragging this on.”
“Your point is?” Looking at Ye Moxuan, Jason suddenly had an unsettling feeling in his gut. His assumption about Ye Moxuan earlier started to feel off. If Ye Moxuan did not want to carry out the session, then he would not have come all the way here to look for me and would have stayed home to rest instead. Yet, here he is. As far as he knew, Jason felt that this visit was not as straightforward as he imagined.
When the thought of several terrifying possibilities entered his head, Jason gulped down in nervousness. “You c-can’t… possibly think?”
Ye Moxuan saw the terrified look on his face and smirked. “You’re very smart. It’s no wonder you were my best friend once.”
Jason was dumbfounded. That was the first time he saw a smile on Ye Moxuan’s face. Even though it was subtle, it was still a smile. However, this was not the kind of situation he had imagined seeing him smile. At that moment, Jason did not find his smile genuine at all but rather, chilling and frightening instead.
“Moxuan, listen to me.” Jason paused before continuing, “You can’t expect immediate results when you’re trying to get your memories back. What if everything backfires on you in the end?”
Ye Moxuan shot him a cold stare. “You said the same thing six days ago.”
That statement made Jason speechless for a while before he was able to respond again. “You’re right; I did say that at the time. But at the time, you also thought differently from what you’re thinking now. I’m telling you for real this time with no exaggeration whatsoever—do you want to have a mental breakdown?”
Jason wanted to strike while the iron was hot and did not want to give Ye Moxuan room to object. “You see. You probably know what you look like these days. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be hiding in a hotel every day and be too afraid to go home. Let me remind you again. Isn’t the reason you’re doing this for her? If something happens to you this time, how are you going to face her in the future? What do you want her to think?”
Ye Moxuan pursed his lips and did not say anything.
Jason did not know if Ye Moxuan was listening to him as his expression remained solemn. “Go home and think about this. I’m not trying to scare you, but if you want to keep doing this then I won’t help you anymore.”
Alas, Ye Moxuan looked up. “Is that so?”
Jason nodded his head firmly. “That’s right. I advise you to just go home and rest. There’s no need to rush on this.”
Ye Moxuan snickered. “Fine, I’ll deal with it myself then.” When he finished, he turned around upon seeing Jason’s astonished face and left with his car keys in his hand.
While Ye Moxuan was at ease, his words unsettled Jason. Ye Moxuan had shown up alone today, yet Jason had been brash with his words and claimed that he would not help him.
Jason thought, He wouldn’t put himself in danger, would he? Who knew he would make such a claim? Where is he planning to go now?
Jason immediately chased after him and pressed urgently from behind, “What did you say? Deal with it yourself? Where are you going? I’m telling you, Moxuan, don’t do anything stupid! Is your life not worth it? Aren’t they just lost memories after all? Would you go that far? Is it worth it?”
Jason felt like he was about to go insane because of him. He had always known that Ye Moxuan was a ruthless person—he was the epitome of ruthlessness. Ye Moxuan had the means and the intentions to do anything. Even so, Jason did not think that he would be so ruthless with his own life.
Ye Moxuan, however, did not care about what Jason was saying and did not acknowledge him at all. He left immediately and got in the elevator. Jason followed along out of worry for him. When Ye Moxuan started his car to leave, Jason opened the car door just in time and got in.
Ye Moxuan frowned. “I thought you weren’t going to help me?”
Jason refuted, “I’m not going to. But, why did you intentionally come to look for me? Why did you make such a claim in front of me? Do I look like the kind of person who would just watch you go to your death?” He will be in great danger if something happens and there is no one there to help him. If I watch over him, at least I can rush in immediately to help if necessary.
Jason scorned, “I owed you in my past life. Once you recover your memories, please just go home and get out of my sight. Stop making me worry about you.”
While Ye Moxuan was driving, Jason took the chance to open Xiao Su’s WeChat and turned on location sharing.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 967
After Han Muzi heard about everything, her first response to Xiao Su was, “Where is he?”
“Young Master Ye is probably still at the hotel. Before I came out, he said he would wait for me to return.”
She felt slightly relieved as she heard that Ye Moxuan was still resting at the hotel. At least he’s safe right now. There’s nothing to worry about. She said hurriedly, “Then bring me to him.”
Xiao Su nodded immediately. “Okay.” Since he told her everything, he did not have to debate whether or not to take her to him.
When Yan heard that they were going to see Ye Moxuan, she quickly raised her hand. “Take me with you; I can help if anything happens. Muzi is also pregnant, so I don’t feel safe letting her go out alone.”
Han Muzi did not object and nodded her head. “Sure.”
Yan quickly turned around and went into the room to grab her things. At that point, Han Qing, who had been sitting not too far away from them and quietly reading, put his book down and looked up. “I’ll come with you guys.”
Han Muzi did not object to him either. Since he was her brother and Ye Moxuan was his brother-in-law, it only seemed natural that he went.
On the other hand, Xiao Su only remembered that there was another person in the house when he heard Han Qing’s voice. If Han Qing had not said anything, Xiao Su would have completely forgotten that he was there. The thought of Yan having feelings for Han Qing made Xiao Su feel aloof about him. However, his first line of duty was to go look for Young Master Ye and stop him. He could not afford to think of anything else at the moment.
When they were all ready, they set off right away. As they arrived at the hotel, they realized that the room was empty and not a soul was present. Han Muzi wrinkled her forehead without saying a word. However, Yan went off like a machine-gun.
“Where is he? You’re so unreliable, Xiao Su! Didn’t you say Young Master Ye was at the hotel? Why isn’t there even a single shadow in here?” Yan was slightly restrained as she said that. If it were not for Han Qing, she was about ready to tackle him.
For some reason, Yan felt like bullying Xiao Su whenever she saw him. But that also made her feel weird because both of them were not well-acquainted with each other.
Xiao Su, who was getting told off by Yan again, did not dare to bicker with her and just said, “Before I left, Young Master Ye was still here. According to the time, by now—” Xiao Su was stunned for a moment, then he nodded. “He might have had a hunch and left before we arrived.” Xiao Su was speechless after saying that. He thought, Young Lady Ye might be right. Young Master Ye is smart. When I didn’t come back at the allocated time and didn’t call to inform him either, he might have understood what was happening.
Xiao Su was caught off guard by that unforeseen event. Other than Han Muzi, no one else would have guessed it. After Ye Moxuan caught on, he headed out on his own.
“Take us to where he usually goes,” Han Muzi decided after pondering for a moment.
“Okay. Follow me.” Xiao Su did not hesitate and led the three of them out of the hotel.
As soon as they got downstairs, Xiao Su’s phone rang. Han Muzi immediately turned toward him. “Your phone rang.”
He brought out his phone and saw that Jason had shared his location with him. However, there were no other text messages attached nor was there a voice message. There was only a shared location.
Yan was the closest to Xiao Su. After she looked at his screen, she cried out, “Muzi, someone shared a location with him. The person is called Jason. Who is that?”
Jason? Han Muzi did not know who that was either. Then, they all turned to look at Xiao Su with curious faces. Just then, Xiao Su explained, “Jason is the doctor who has been treating Young Master Ye. He used to be Young Master Ye’s best friend, but then he went overseas to pursue his studies.”
“Let’s follow him.” Han Qing, who kept his presence hidden the whole time, spoke out suddenly.
At the sound of his voice, Yan immediately glanced at him eagerly. “Yes, let’s follow after him. President Han knows best.”
Han Qing did not respond. Because Yan liked him, she was always in awe of him regardless of what he did.
At that moment, Xiao Su, who kept a low-profile, could not help but feel envious. In a low voice, he said, “Isn’t that obvious?” He glanced at Yan after he said this.
Yan only exaggerated because of her feelings for him but she also thought that it was quite straightforward. Nonetheless, not everyone was on the same page. When Xiao Su refuted her, Yan stared at him furiously and almost wanted to fight him. But before she said anything, she felt like it would be too unladylike to act that way and she did not want to ruin her image in front of Han Qing. Alas, she held back her emotions and forced an awkward smile. “Then you should’ve said so earlier. I would’ve praised you if you said it a bit sooner.”
Xiao Su was speechless. Whatever.
Han Muzi frowned, feeling slightly perplexed. “Let’s go look for him first.”
Yan paused. She quickly realized that she had made a mistake. Although Han Muzi did not show her emotions, she must be the most worried about Ye Moxuan in the current situation.
If she had the power to, Han Muzi would probably fly to Ye Moxuan’s side in an instant. But, she just stayed calm and collected throughout the whole thing. It did not mean that she felt the way she looked though.
Yan was repenting for diverting the matter into a different direction. After beating herself up for a bit, she followed the others into the car.
The atmosphere in the car was down and nobody talked for a while. Xiao Su just headed in the direction that was on the shared location. Time ticked by, while Han Muzi sat in the passenger seat and did not utter a single word.
Yan buried herself in the corner. Although Han Qing was sitting next to her, she did not feel excited and focused all her attention on Han Muzi instead.
Over on the other side, when they arrived at their destination, Jason silently looked at the huge swimming pool in front of him. “Was this where you wanted to come?” He let out a breath of relief. Suddenly, he felt like years were added back into his life. Earlier, he was worried that Ye Moxuan wanted to go to the beach. After all, he had lost his memories after he was fished out of the ocean.
Ye Moxuan himself did not know what happened at the bottom of that ocean. Based on his recent obsessive attitude toward his treatment, Jason thought he might have wanted to jump back into the ocean to reenact that moment. It was a relief that he only wanted to go to the swimming pool.
“Why? Did you think I wanted to go to the beach?” Ye Moxuan asked and shot him a glance.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 968
Honestly, that was what Jason had thought. After getting his inner thoughts pointed out like that, he was rendered speechless. Then, he heard Ye Moxuan dryly retort, “I’m trying to get my memories back, not kill myself.” With that, he lifted his hands to undo the button on his shirt, one by one.
Faced with the humongous swimming pool—it was way larger than the one they used when they simulated the same scene before—Jason glanced around and suddenly said, “Let’s find a few more people to watch over you. I’m worried that if something happens, I won’t be able to save you by myself.”
Ye Moxuan’s hands stopped moving for a moment, then he agreed. Therefore, Jason hastily turned around to look for more people. Meanwhile, he took the chance to take out his phone to check for messages while he was at it. Then, he realized that Xiao Su’s WeChat had been silent—there was not a single message in response.
What the hell? What’s wrong with this b*stard? Does he not care for his precious Young Master Ye? I’ve shared my location with him for so long, but he hasn’t even noticed it? Nonetheless, he quickly noticed something wasn’t quite right. Staring at the map, he almost missed the fact that the little green dot indicating Xiao Su’s location was very close to his. In fact, they were almost overlapping. Upon his realization, he nearly yelled out in excitement. He didn’t expect Xiao Su to rush over in time. Luckily, his efforts in trying to delay Ye Moxuan had not been in vain. Just in case, he stuffed his phone back into his pocket without turning off his shared location. Then, he went back.
Ye Moxuan stood there with no changes in his expression. When he saw Jason approaching, he coldly asked, “Can I start now?”
“Hold your horses for a moment.” Now that he knew Xiao Su was rushing toward their location, Jason decided to try and drag things out for a little longer until his arrival. Maybe we would get a different result today?
“What?” Ye Moxuan arched his brow and looked at him. “Is there something else?”
“I was going over your medical condition carefully. It’s not like this is the only way to cure your condition; you don’t have to take this extreme route. Besides, based on my experience, there are very few people like you who regain their memories through this method. So, I came up with a better idea just now.”
“What idea?” Ye Moxuan frigidly questioned.
“There’s a solution to this, but we need to develop a specific plan. I was thinking that we shouldn’t be so rash today. Let’s go back first; once I’ve written up the plan, we can start working on it tomorrow if you’re happy with it.” Noticing that Ye Moxuan still had not made a single move, Jason looked at him doubtfully. “What do you think?”
“Heh.” Ye Moxuan chuckled, then coldly sneered, “What’s the use of telling me all these now?”
“You saw through me, didn’t you? Fine, I am trying to prevent you from entering the water today. You’ve been through a lot of mental shocks this week; it has all overlapped and compounded with each other. If something happens to you when you jump into the water today, I really can’t bear the responsibility for it.” Then, he hurriedly added, “But, I did come up with an idea just now. Many people were cured using this method. If you don’t believe me, you can go back with me, and I’ll explain it all to you in detail.”
Knowing that Ye Moxuan would never go back with him, he was just trying to slow the man down. Though he seemingly understood his intentions, Ye Moxuan ignored him and steadily walked toward the side of the pool.
“Hey… Moxuan, stop being so impulsive! Will you listen to what I say? If I tell you there’s another way, then there is one. Stop what you’re doing!”
At this critical moment, a delicate female voice rang out in the room. “Is it fun to lie to me?”
There was no response to her question. The sudden appearance of her voice was like a ray of holy light to Jason; he glanced over at the source of the voice and saw a woman standing in his line of sight. Beside her stood several others, including Xiao Su. Their breathing was all over the place—they had rushed over. That’s great! I managed to hold out! Luckily I called out just now, otherwise Ye Moxuan would already be in the water right now!
At the sound of Han Muzi’s voice, Ye Moxuan felt like something had slammed into his heart. After a moment, he scowled fiercely, directing his ferocious gaze at Jason. He had chosen this spot on a whim, so Xiao Su couldn’t have known about it beforehand. The only person here with him was Jason, so it could only have been him who had leaked the news to them.
Jason met his gaze and took out his phone. “When we got in the car, I turned on my location sharing function. However, it wasn’t easy for them to find you either. I can only say that they were fast enough and brilliant enough to pull it off.” Sigh, this puts me in a tough spot. Although his intentions were good, facing Ye Moxuan, who looked like he was going to murder him, was still terrifying.
“I’m asking you a question.” The female voice from before rang out again. Almost instantly, Jason felt the hostility and anger directed toward him reduced by half. Jeez, is this the power of love? He gave a deep sigh in his heart, then began to unscrupulously size Han Muzi up.
As far as Jason was aware, Ye Moxuan had lost his mother a long time ago, so he had beef with the Ye Family, much less any affection for them. So, he would not be regaining his memories for the sake of his family. The only exception was this woman. He never expected his best friend, who had always been indifferent since way back then, would have a day where he would live and die for a woman. Well, she’s prettier than I imagined. More importantly, she seemed to exude an air of elegance about her. Is this the kind of woman he likes? She seemed to be rather graceful, but the tone of her voice just now wasn’t gentle at all. It was rather steely. I bet he’s going to suffer from this.
Sure enough, Ye Moxuan didn’t even dare to look back at her face, much less meet her eyes. The sounds in the surrounding areas seemed to disappear all of a sudden. Although there were many people present, it was so quiet that they could have heard the sound of a pin drop.
Remaining silent, Ye Moxuan had yet to answer Han Muzi’s question. Seeing how he wasn’t responding to her, she discarded her original intention to remain standing where she was and walked up to him instead.
Every single person present was watching this scene unfold with bated breath. They felt as if the surrounding atmosphere was cold enough to freeze. The room wasn’t all that warm in the first place, but now, it was downright chilly.
Stopping at a spot not too far away from him, Han Muzi gazed toward the surface of the water. “You don’t dare to tell me, or you can’t be bothered to tell me?”
The last few words in her sentence made Ye Moxuan frown, his thin lips pursing together tightly. He slowly turned around and met her eyes.
At this moment, Jason cleared his throat lightly and said, “Why don’t we take our leave now?” Then, he turned and left. The others didn’t want to hang around awkwardly either, so they followed after him.
When they arrived outside, a gust of cold wind blew toward them. Yan subconsciously hugged herself. Xiao Su, who was standing beside her, saw this and blurted out, “Are you cold?” Then, he took off his coat and draped it around her shoulders. “You just recovered from your fever; you need to remember to keep warm, or you’ll relapse again.”
Han Qing lifted his eyelids without anyone noticing, then glanced at the coat on Yan’s shoulders from the corner of his eyes.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 969
Yan was taken aback; she didn’t expect Xiao Su to take off his coat and drape it over her shoulders. The coat, which still retained some warmth having just been taken off from his body, gave her an extra layer of warmth when it was draped over her.
After a few stunned moments, her awareness returned, and she instinctively glanced over at Han Qing. Han Qing stood there impassively, seeming oblivious about Xiao Su’s actions.
She couldn’t help feeling disappointed. However, it was Han Qing after all. So, she didn’t think too much of it. He might not be bothered, but that doesn’t mean she wanted to let things continue that way. Therefore, she flashed a grateful smile at Xiao Su. “Thank you, but I’m not cold.”
After saying that, she took off the coat and returned it to Xiao Su. Her intentions behind her actions were blatant. Having failed to hide her feelings when she glanced toward Han Qing, how could Xiao Su not understand what her actions were trying to portray? She returned the coat to him because she was afraid Han Qing would misunderstand the situation. It didn’t matter to her whether Han Qing actually cared or not; she was still unwilling to put on the coat.
Heh. All of a sudden, Xiao Su found the whole thing rather ridiculous. Just because you like someone, you’d neglect your own body? Will you continue with this farce even though the other party doesn’t even care enough to glance in your direction? Standing there with an indifferent look on his face, he didn’t take his coat back from her.
At first, she assumed that he would take the coat back from her. After all, the weather was quite cold; he would have felt the cold after taking off his jacket, so wouldn’t getting it back be a good thing? However, he never reached out his hand to take the coat off her. She felt that it was a little strange. “Hurry up and take it. I’m returning it to you. You should wear it yourself. Don’t catch a cold because of this.”
Yet, he refused to take it back. Yan was dumbstruck. “Xiao Su?”
Jason, who had followed everyone else out, stood there with his arms crossed in front of his chest. Watching the scene unfolding before him with amusement, his eyes glinted mockingly. Now isn’t this fun? Although Xiao Su likes this girl, she has no interest in him. Jeez, just what day is it today? I can’t believe I get to witness so much drama! Tsk-tsk! Although he kept shaking his head in his heart, a faint smile inadvertently played across the corners of his mouth—he found this extremely entertaining.
Xiao Su refused to accept his coat back, but they couldn’t maintain a stalemate for long. Noticing Yan staring at him unblinkingly, he stiffly told her, “I gave you the coat, so it belongs to you now. If you don’t feel cold, then just throw it away.”
Yan was confused. What is going on? Didn’t he just drape this over my shoulders? He lent it to me, right? Why would I throw it away? What kind of insane reasoning is this? She was utterly dumbfounded, but he had already turned his head away, clearly indicating that he didn’t want to discuss it further. It seemed as if he didn’t want his coat back anymore.
“Are you crazy?” Even with Han Qing here, she couldn’t stop herself from muttering. It’s a perfectly good coat; why does he want me to throw it away? It’s not as if I’m poisonous or something.
Yeah, I’m crazy. Xiao Su agreed in his heart. He was crazy to do this in front of that guy. Under normal circumstances, if she didn’t want the coat, he probably would have taken it back immediately. However, in front of Han Qing, Xiao Su felt a need to compete with him.
Despite how much Yan liked him, the guy would not even bat an eye at her. What is so great about a man like that? Xiao Su did what he did just now for two reasons. Firstly, he did not want her to catch a cold again. Secondly, he wished he could make Han Qing understand something: Yan was a cute girl that many others were interested in. If he didn’t cherish her, or if he didn’t feel anything for her, then she would be snatched away soon. These were things that Xiao Su was trying to express, but he didn’t know whether Han Qing had understood his intentions.
However, Yan was not aware of his intentions. After accusing him of being crazy, she threw the coat at him. “This is yours! It hasn’t even been in my hands for more than a minute. Why are you asking me to throw it away? Let me tell you: if you don’t want this coat anymore, then throw it away for yourself. I won’t do something as dishonest as that.”
The coat was thrown back at him, but he ignored it. It fell to the icy floor with a thud. Shocked, Yan looked at him incredulously. “You really don’t want it anymore?”
Giving her an indifferent look, Xiao Su pursed his lips and walked over to the other side silently.
She was speechless. There’s something wrong with this guy, isn’t there? Not to mention he’s the kind that’s difficult to manage! After scathingly complaining about him in her heart, she snorted and decided to ignore him. He was the one who gave her his coat anyway; it wasn’t as if she snatched it off his hands. Take it or leave it; it’s up to you.
Their surroundings seemed to fall into a weird silence—the atmosphere here was even scarier than the one inside just now.
The helpers, who were called out by Jason to lend a hand, had felt that they were about to freeze from the frigid atmosphere inside, so they escaped outside. Unfortunately, after coming outside, they again came across another dramatic scene. These people sure know how to keep things interesting.
The crowd silently shifted their feet and slipped away. On the other hand, Jason had been watching it all in a leisurely manner with an amused smile on his lips.
Soon, Yan began to feel distressed about it all. No matter how she put it, Xiao Su had taken off his coat for her, yet she had refused it in front of everyone by saying she wasn’t cold and tried to return the coat to him. Then, he suddenly started sulking. Don’t tell me it’s because I had hurt his ego?
As she pondered it, she felt that it was quite possible. After all, with so many people around, perhaps he felt his masculinity had been attacked, and that was why… She turned her head to look back at the coat; after being thrown on the floor, it lay there pitifully. He had done it out of kindness, yet, not only did she not appreciate his gesture, she instead threw his coat onto the dirty floor. If this was something someone else had done, she would have told that person off for being ungrateful, so much so that that person would be covered in her spit by now.
Yan hurriedly stepped forward and picked the coat up. Then, she patted off the dust as best as she could. Walking up to Xiao Su, she hesitantly spoke up, “I’m sorry. I know you were worried about my health. I was too impulsive just now. The weather is quite cold, so you should put it back on. I’ve tried to remove the dust on it as best as I could. It was wrong of me to throw it onto the ground just now; I’ll clean it for you when we get back.”
Her voice had become much gentler while speaking to him. Even Xiao Su, whose heart had hardened, melted slightly at her words. At the end of the day, she was still the person he liked. Even though he had been furious just now, when she spoke so gently to him, no matter how furious he had been, the flames were instantly extinguished.
Xiao Su glanced at her, then mulled over it for a bit. “Forget it; I don’t blame you. If you’re not disgusted by the coat, then please put it on. I don’t have any other motives attached to this gesture. If you were to get sick again, Young Master Ye would have to find a doctor for you. Young Lady Ye would be worried about you too.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 970
I see. Yan nodded her head in sudden realization, then she revealed a sweet smile to Xiao Su and said, “What a competent assistant you are! To be so considerate toward Young Master Ye and Young Lady Ye; if Young Master Ye knew, he would be very pleased. You’ll get a great year-end bonus later!”
Year-end bonus… Xiao Su smiled faintly and played along. “Perhaps by that time, I’ll have to trouble you to put in a few good words with Young Lady Ye for me.”
“Ah, were you so courteous to me just for this reason?” She seemed to have figured out something. “However, didn’t we just celebrate the New Year’s recently?”
“Since Young Master Ye lost his memories, I have yet to receive my salary this year.”
“I see!” She nodded vigorously. “Don’t worry, I’ll put in a good word with Muzi for you. Then, I’ll ask her to pass the message along!”
Gazing softly at her face, he then glanced at the coat. “So, you can go ahead and put the coat on.”
Originally, she had intended to return the coat to him, but now she believed he was just doing it for her in exchange for a favor. It took no effort for her to put in a few good words for him, but if she didn’t accept his coat here, he might think that she was refusing to help him. After thinking it over, Yan finally put on the coat with peace of mind. Then, she patted Xiao Su’s shoulder. “Alright, don’t worry! Thank you for the coat; I’ll put in a few good words for you!”
Jason, who was watching from the sidelines, was rendered speechless. After listening to their conversation, the corners of his mouth twitched. To think there was a strategy like this. This was the first time he had ever seen a person try to woo a woman like this. Considering how long he and Xiao Su had known each other, he couldn’t help but walk up to Xiao Su when Yan walked away, then muttered in a low voice, “Don’t blame me for not telling you this, but you will never get a girl this way.”
Xiao Su didn’t say a word in response.
“I was observing the situation. You’re in a love triangle, right?”
Xiao Su’s brow twitched and he narrowed his eyes to look at Jason.
“You like her, but she likes him, right?”
“Shut up! This has nothing to do with you,” Xiao Su retorted.
Seeing him acting like this, Jason laughed suddenly. “At first, I thought Moxuan going crazy over a woman was bad enough. I never expected his assistant to be just like him! Don’t tell me, birds of a feather flock together? Is that why you both are together? Okay, okay, I’m just teasing you. Don’t blame me for not pointing it out to you though. You can’t do this if you’re trying to chase a woman, especially since she doesn’t have any interest in you. If you don’t express your feelings clearly, she’ll be snatched away by another man sooner or later.”
Xiao Su furrowed his brows tightly together, then he suddenly heard Yan turning around and asking, “What are you guys talking about?”
As Jason had been speaking in a low voice, Yan, who was standing further away, could only hear his mumbling, and could not make out what he said. However, Xiao Su panicked as he hurriedly explained, “It’s nothing; we were just discussing something.”
Jason laughed wickedly. “We were discussing relationship issues; I was asking him for advice on how to court a woman.”
Xiao Su was rendered speechless while Yan gave him a doubtful look. Can he woo a woman with his dull-witted manner?
Nonetheless, sneakily glancing over at Han Qing, who had been silent all this while, she didn’t say another word on the matter. Although he had followed after them, he had barely said a word; he most likely only followed them out of his worry for Muzi’s safety.
…
“You don’t dare to answer, or you can’t be bothered to answer?”
After everyone else left, only Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi remained in this huge venue. Having yet to say a single word to her, Ye Moxuan simply looked at her, his expression pained and his eyes troubled.
Han Muzi looked at his expression and recalled the words Xiao Su had said to her. With those words in mind, she slowly walked toward him. “I know you’re trying to get your memories back as soon as possible. But you heard what the doctor said too: there isn’t a quick fix for this, and there is no specific method to cure this. It’s all based on the patients themselves. Yet, you’re acting so desperately with no regard for your health. I can understand and respect your decisions, but have you ever thought about what happens if something happens to you? What happens to your grandfather? What happens to Little Bean? What happens to me or the baby in my womb right now?”
Having made her mental preparations before she came here, she remained calm as she spoke; she kept her emotions in balance. No matter what she saw him doing, she refused to be shocked or angry. After not seeing him for so many days, she could not believe that in a week, he could lose so much weight. His complexion was particularly bad too. If she had not known what he had been up to, she would have thought he had fallen sick. Looking at him now, the stress and resentment building up over the days melted away, leaving behind only an endless heartache for him.
Walking until she finally stood in front of him, she chewed on her lower lip. “It wasn’t so long ago when your body had just recovered, and now you’re tormenting yourself like this. Do you think you have nine lives or something?”
He continued to remain silent. Staring at her without a word, his ink-black eyes filled with longing. Her sudden appearance here was something he had not expected. He assumed that, even if she knew what was going on, he could still finish his last treatment today. It wasn’t too late to meet her again tomorrow. Little did he expect…
“Are you still going to remain silent? Do you want to continue standing here? You’re trying to simulate the incident just to recover your memories; is the past… really that important? Fine. I’ll do it with you then.” Then, Han Muzi bent down and prepared to take off her shoes to jump into the water.
Ye Moxuan, who had been as still as a statue all this while, finally panicked at her actions. He grabbed her thin, white wrist and pulled her into his arms. “Don’t be so impulsive!”
She struggled against him, but his large hands were keeping her securely in his embrace; she couldn’t move an inch. “Let me go! Who’s the impulsive one here? Aren’t you the one who’s being impulsive here?” The calmness and cool-headedness she had before exploded out at this moment; she struggled against him, hammering at his chest. “How could you be so impulsive? You didn’t even discuss a single thing with me! You just went and did what you wanted to do, all without regard for my feelings! Why should I worry and be afraid of you with that personality of yours?! You’re too much! You’re too much!”
While talking, her tears pitter-pattered as they fell; one by one, her hot tears fell onto the back of his hands. Compared to the cold of the winter, these drops of tears on the back of his hand seemed to burn as hot as a fire, searing the back of his hands.
“I’m sorry…” At the sight of her tears, Ye Moxuan became unbelievably flustered and panicked, instantly regretting everything he had done over the past few days. He had desperately wanted to get his memories back because he never wanted to show her another ugly side of him. Everything he did was so that she wouldn’t worry, but his actions… had made her worry even more. Putting aside worrying her, it had broken her heart too…
