Ch. 201..205: OMG My Crippled Husband is a Hot Powerful CEO Chapter 201-205

Chapter 201: Chapter 201 – What Am I Doing Here?

Don Russo had just finished putting on his clothes when Logan rushed to Joanna’s side. She was peacefully asleep, and he didn’t want to wake her, so he carried her bridal style.

"Where are you taking her?" Don Russo asked, not believing that all his money was going to go to waste.

"To my room, and I hope you stay away from now onwards. Joan is mine alone, and nobody comes close to her, do you understand?"

Dario had arrived behind the door and was not liking this. Logan had always tried to get intimate with Joan, but she was not safe in her room.

"What do we do?" Nancy asked helplessly. Dario had to make some hard decisions.

"Leave her there. At least she would sleep for a long time, and Logan would not take advantage of her in her sleep."

Logan reached the entrance and, seeing Nancy, asked seriously, "Why is she sleeping so much? What did you give her?"

Dario was already walking away to avoid being caught in the feud, but Nancy wished he could stay and protect her right now.

"From my little knowledge, pregnant women can sleep a lot during their first trimester. I think she didn’t sleep well in the night."

Logan smiled. "Alright, thank you, because I was really worried and about to call the doctor."

"Well, if she doesn’t wake up after a few hours, you can call the doctor to check on her," Nancy suggested as Logan left with Joanna in his arms. Don Russo overheard everything and thought to thank Nancy.

"Thanks for keeping our little secret, and if you continue to play along in convincing Logan that Joanna should be returned to her room, I can give you another 100k."

Nancy forced a smile, not daring to refuse, lest Don Russo make things difficult for her.

It would be ideal for him to think she was on his side until everything goes down.

"Sure, I can convince him, but he’s upset, so let’s make it tomorrow." She knew Alex would be arriving in a few hours, so tomorrow would not meet anyone on this godforsaken island.

"You sweet little thing. I can’t wait for you to turn eighteen," Don Russo smiled flirtatiously. Nancy was disgusted, though she maintained a smile. Maybe being an underage undercover agent was a good thing after all.

If not, things would have been more complicated, as the likes of Don Russo would have taken advantage of her.

Nancy remembered that her sister used to like cobb salad and slow cooker taco soup for lunch, but weighing the options, the slow cooker taco soup might take too long.

Alex would be there in a few hours, and she needed to eat and replenish her energy before then.

Dario had not been able to bring in any security devices, but having won his way into the leadership position of Logan and his dons’ security men, he had been able to secure a few things, and his men were all ready for the arrival of Alex.

In Logan’s room, Joanna woke up, oblivious to her environment but recalled what Nancy said.

Her sister had drugged her to sleep well because she would need to stay alert for what was to come.

Joanna wished to see Nancy to explain some things to her. For now, she accepted that Nancy was nothing like the kid sister she lost.

The girl had completely changed in a positive way.

"You are awake," Logan said, having stepped out of the shower with just a towel around his waist.

Joanna recalled that this was not her room but wondered how she got here.

"Logan, what am I doing here?" She asked nervously, diverting her gaze from his body.

"Come on, don’t be shy, you already agreed to leave Alex anyway," he chimed, but she gritted her teeth, though she was nervous.

"I know, but I’m hungry. Can you get me some food?" She hoped that Nancy would be the one to deliver the food so she could seize the opportunity to ask some questions.

"Beauty said you threw up after the first meal and weren’t feeling so good. I think you should let her know clearly, your likes and dislikes," Logan pulled away, and Joanna sighed with relief.

However, she couldn’t help wondering why Nancy lied that she threw up and was sick, but maybe she could pretend to be sick so Logan wouldn’t take advantage of her.

"Well, sometimes, even water makes me nauseous, but the doctor said it will get better in the second trimester."

Logan stared intently at her and pulled her up. "You are showing."

Joan hastened to the mirror. It was just a small bump, but due to the dress, it was visible because of her flat stomach.

Caressing her stomach, she wished Alex would be there to caress it too. Closing her eyes, she imagined him. "Alex, where are you?" she murmured, and Logan asked her.

"What did you say?"

Joan broke from her trance and tried to get out of the mess she just created for herself.

"What are you talking about?" she asked innocently before her gaze traveled to his half-naked body.

"Put on some shirt, Logan."

"Don’t tell me my body is sexier than my brother’s," he winked as he walked to his closet. Joanna wanted to tell him that his body was nowhere close to being sexy but held her peace.

The mention of bodies reminded her of the first time she saw Alex shirtless. Gosh, she was missing him so much.

"Alright. I’ll inform the maid to get your food. I don’t allow them to linger around here so..."

"Are we going to eat together?" She asked, hoping he would refuse as Logan sighed. "I have a meeting right now. We have to call Alex again and find out his decision."

A knock was heard on the door, and Logan went to get it. "Right on time. This maid is doing a good job."

He moved out of the way to let Nancy in and said to Joan, "After eating, you can shower and wait for me. I moved your things here."

Joanna’s heart sunk until Logan closed the door when she saw Nancy unravel something and give to her.

Chapter 202: Chapter 202 - Since they want to be smart

Joanna asked seriously, "A maid’s outfit? What am I supposed to use that for?" She looked confused as Nancy took deep breaths and explained.

"Eat first for energy, and after that, I will move you to the maids’ quarters before the massive attack. Alex would be here soon, and Logan or any of those dons could pull a gun to your head to make him conform to their demands."

Joanna was amazed at the level of her sister’s change. Nancy was not behaving like the fifteen-year-old Joanna expected but like a twenty-year-old.

"Okay, let’s eat together, but can you tell me what happened to you all these years?" Joanna asked. Nancy refused, though she wished to share this moment with her sister.

Any wrong move and they would be exposed. Also, though Dario would have returned her to her mother and sister, Nancy was too obsessed with this life because of the people she helped Dario to rescue, making it feel like a calling for her.

"No, I already ate, and there isn’t enough time to tell you all that. Please hurry up and change."

Joanna ate as much as she could, which was easy because of how good the food tasted, just the way their mother used to prepare it.

"I’m surprised you learned from mom. You were so little by then and inattentive to her cooking," Joanna pointed out. Nancy recalled the past, and something moved inside her.

At first, she missed her mother a lot, but when Dario began treating her like a daughter, she felt she belonged to him. He was lonely before she joined him, and whenever there were no jobs, Dario would lock himself up studying or spend hours in the gym working out.

Nancy’s presence gave him something to hope for whenever he wasn’t busy and someone to be with and impact his knowledge on.

Time passed, and the bond between the two grew. Dario found a companion, a friend, and a trusted colleague. If all of Salvatore’s men betray Dario, he was certain that Nancy would never betray him.

"I didn’t learn it from her. I just kept mixing ingredients to get the taste of what she used to make in my mouth," Nancy revealed, stunning Joanna.

Indeed, Nancy used to play alone whenever Monica was cooking, never giving her attention.

"You have transformed into a very strong and intelligent woman, Nancy. Mom would be happy to see you again if her amnesia doesn’t kick in again."

"Amnesia?" Nancy sounded worried, but Joanna did not want her to deviate from her vision of the future.

"Don’t worry. Alex paid a lot of caregivers to take care of her. She’s so happy that she doesn’t feel a need for me."

The revelation calmed Nancy as Joanna realized how she could see traces of Nancy’s old self in her now. Previously, she was indeed like Salvatore’s men. So robotic.

"The food tastes good, but I’ve had my fill. Let me shower and change."

Nancy nodded, and as Joanna left to shower, she sat down and ate the leftovers. "Can’t let perfectly cooked food go to waste," she murmured.

When Joanna returned, she had no idea what her sister had done since the plates were covered. "How do I look?" She asked. Nancy smiled.

"Good, and I hope Alex told you. It wasn’t his fault that my father died. He was killed by his best friend, and Dario already avenged my father."

Joanna recalled Alex telling her and agreed. "Yes, he did, but your happiness is all that matters."

Nancy brought out some makeup from her pocket. "Let me change your appearance a little." After the makeup, Joanna was confident that she looked like a maid, but could she act it?

"You aren’t a real maid, and someone like Logan might still recognize you, so please walk with your head bowed," Nancy advised as she lifted her dress and brought out a revolver.

"This is loaded. Keep it, and in case you are in any trouble, just press your hand on the trigger," she said, guiding Joanna’s finger on the revolver.

"If Alex was the one teaching her, she would have been afraid, but being her sister, Joanna was determined to not disappoint Nancy.

"This looks more dangerous than I imagined," Joanna said honestly. Nancy smiled and embraced her. "I only knew recently that Alex was Salvatore, but what I know about Salvatore is the fact that he hates manipulation."

"Dario should be with Logan now, and as soon as they are unable to get in touch with Alex, Logan will be on his way back."

Joanna listened to her sister with shock. Who would have known that her kid sister would become what she would deem a spy one day?

"You’ll push the wheel, and I would walk beside or in front depending on the situation. Just follow my lead," Nancy said seriously, but Joanna embraced her again.

"I’m so glad it’s you."

Nancy hugged her back and smiled. "It’s all thanks to Alex. You have no idea the remuneration we enjoy working for him as Salvatore."

Joanna was glad to hear that, but just when they reached the door, they heard a knock.

"Go back to the bathroom," Nancy instructed. Joanna opened before the former opened the door.

"Where is Mrs. King? Don Ace and Logan want her to be present at the video call," the bodyguard reported. He was not on Dario’s team, so Nancy was suspicious.

"Mrs. King is in the shower, so you have to wait for her."

Hearing her sister’s words, Joanna opened the shower, making the bodyguard report on the radio walkie-talkie.

"Boss, Madam is in the shower. What should I do?"

Nancy heard Logan’s voice from the radio. "Bring her now. We can’t reach Alex."

The bodyguard ended the call and hastened to the shower, but before she reached it, Nancy kicked him in the face.

"You?" He was shocked, but another kick was sent to his stomach, followed by a punch that rendered him unconscious.

"Yes, me," Nancy snarled before she reached for Joanna and pulled her out.

Joanna was stunned to see the bodyguard unconscious on the floor but didn’t have time to ask about it.

Nancy did not seem to just be smart but was also tough.

"No more time. Let’s go." As soon as they reached the door, they heard the sound of gunshots, and Joanna was scared, but Nancy encouraged her. "Just follow me."

Maids were running here and there with the agents and bodyguards prepped for action. All of them carried guns, which made Joanna understand why Nancy insisted that she eats well. It wasn’t going to be easy to get her out of there.

Seeing Logan from a distance, her nervousness grew, but reaching them, he grabbed Nancy as he did not immediately recognize Joan.

"Where is she?"

"In there. That bodyguard tried to attack her. I was coming to get you," Nancy reported. Logan ran in the direction of his room as Nancy held Joanna’s hand before they took to their heels.

Logan reached his room, but only the bodyguard was on the floor. "Joan," he yelled, but there was no answer. He checked the bathroom, but there was still no sign of her.

"Joan," he called out again. At the same time, the bodyguard on the floor was regaining consciousness.

"You son of a bitch, where is Joan and what the fuck did you do to her?" He punched the bodyguard in the face as the man helplessly replied.

"I don’t know, that maid knocked me out. She’s skilled."

Logan was confused by the revelation. Which maid was he talking about? Was it that little girl? Impossible.

"Are you drunk?"

The gunshots made him raise his voice because his men were trying to battle the helicopters flying in. "A defenseless girl kicked you, a trained fighter and bodyguard?" He felt like this man was insane.

The bodyguard, feeling ashamed, could not say anymore. "Please let me go find them."

Logan didn’t stop him and rather began putting some munitions together. How did Alex locate their hideout? As if that was not enough, there were so many people with him that made Logan lose hope in the fact that even Dario could defeat Alex.

He went in search of the other dons, meeting Don Adam at the corridor.

"Logan what happened? You never told us Alex was coming." To say he wasn’t aware wouldn’t make him competent and reliable, so he responded hastily.

"That wasn’t the plan, but I hope our men are good enough. Where is Dario anyway?" He asked. They looked around curiously as one of their agents ran towards them.

"Don, the prisoners are being transferred into a helicopter."

"What?" The two men asked together, but Logan was smart enough to remember something. Dario had mentioned some victims, so could it be that he wasn’t on their side?

"Dario, we have to find him. I think he betrayed us."

As he mentioned Dario, Don Russo and Ace arrived, looking upset. "Our men outside have been gunned down, and they are rescuing the victims. This looks like a plan," Don Russo said. Don Ace frowned imperceptibly and ordered.

"Since they want to be smart, let’s activate the bombs.

Chapter 203: Chapter 203 - No, Don’t Hurt Him

Alex was in a very bad mood when they arrived at the island. Thanks to Dario, Logan, and the three dons did not notice it until it was too late.

Alex’s concern was for Joanna to be safe, and he owed it to 3E to save his father as well. Taking down the bodyguards around the mansion was their easiest task among the lot, as they fired from the chopper.

But when they reached the cage where the prisoners were kept, a lot happened. There were more agents watching the cage than Alex expected so it was a battle before the rescue itself began.

Most of the victims were in very poor conditions and others traumatized.

"Don’t land. Just drop the ladders to make it easy for takeoff if," Alex ordered, and the pilots of the choppers obeyed.

Twenty people were able to be conveyed into the chopper as Alex informed Aiden. "You take care of the rest. I will go inside."

"No, I’m coming with you. It’s too dangerous," Aiden insisted, but Alex reminded him. "Don’t forget Dario is there. You stay here with the rest."

Aiden agreed as Alex entered the mansion, gunning down two agents at the entrance. The corridor was dark and deserted. He switched on the torch as his eyes darted around for Joanna.

If he could get her out of there, he wouldn’t be worried about anything else. "Joan, let me know where you are," he yelled, quickening his steps as his worry grew.

"Joa...." He didn’t finish mentioning his name when he heard Dario’s voice. "Boss, please drop the gun." The corridor lights turned on immediately.

"Not until I see Joan," Alex said as Dario came out of a room. There was no gun pointed at his head, and yet, he didn’t even try to fight off the people following him.

"Dario, what’s going on? Where is Joan?"

There were around nine agents aside from those on Dario’s team.

"She’s fine."

"And her sister?" Alex’s next question followed, earning a positive response. "She’s fine."

"Sister?" Logan appeared and asked. Ever since suspecting Dario and exposing him, he never knew Dario was working with anyone because Dario had confessed to being the only one.

The only reason Logan had not killed him was that he wanted to kill Dario together with Alex.

Dario was mute, but Alex answered. "I believe you already met Joanna’s half-sister. You claim to love her, and yet, you know nothing about her."

"Joanna’s half-sister?" Logan was at a loss, but Alex was running out of patience as he asked Dario again. "Where is she, Dario?"

"Here," Nancy answered as she came out with Joanna dressed in a maid uniform. Due to the makeup, Alex hardly recognized her until she drew closer.

"No wonder I couldn’t find her," Logan murmured to himself, thinking about the time he was trying to find Joan.

Even if he had seen her, he would not have recognized her.

Joanna embraced Alex tightly. "You came." Alex lowered his gun and kissed her on the lips. "Did they hurt you?" he asked as soon as she pulled away, his hand traveling to her belly.

Knowing his wife, he already saw the bump. "You are showing." Tears filled his eyes, but their sweet moment was rudely interrupted by Logan.

"So, you deceived me that you two were no longer together." Anger and pain registered in his eyes, as if he felt like he had been fooled.

Alex laughed. "You don’t learn, do you? What makes you think you can have my woman? Trust me, I can sign off King’s Multinational to you but not my wife."

Logan understood all of those tricks of Joanna’s vomiting whenever he tried to kiss her. They were all theatrics to keep him from touching her.

"You son of a bit..." Logan was saying, about to hit Alex when the latter blocked his hand and punched him in the face. "You went too far this time, Logan, and no one can save you."

"You think so?" Don Ace asked, lifting his shirt, and as soon as Alex saw what was there, he lost hope. "I guess you know what this means. We are all going to die here."

Alex saw the bomb planted on him and gave up.

"No one has to die," he said defeatedly. The most important thing was saving his wife, even if he didn’t make it out alive.

"I don’t see it that way," Don Russo said, burning with anger. "I guess that is the half-sister you were talking about." He pointed at Nancy. "They made a fool out of us and have to pay. We all die," he declared. Alex shook his head and tried to negotiate with them.

"Isn’t it me you want? You could have the King’s multinational and have control of Salvatore’s men too."

"So, you are admitting to be Salvatore?" Logan asked, Alex nodded.

"You can record it. I am Salvatore, and that means I’m more valuable to you than my wife. Let my people go and take me instead," he negotiated. Logan and the three dons went into discussion.

"There’s nothing to gain in death. We get to have the King’s multinational and his agency. It’s a better deal than Logan ever promised," Don Adam said. Even Logan agreed.

"Finally, you are ready to give up everything for love?" he asked, embittered that Alex and Joanna had fooled him. "Okay."

"Joan, you go, but I won’t leave him," Nancy said. Alex was touched as he stared at her. "You have to go. Aiden and the rest of the team are still taking care of the prisoners. Go with them."

Dario’s men were reluctant too. "Sir, we all die together. We won’t leave you alone with these vultures."

Alex was planning a way of escape, feeling that the fewer, the better. Joan embraced him tightly. "I don’t want to be away from you again."

Alex cupped her face in his palms. Logan was seething as Alex kissed Joanna again. "Please trust me and do as I say, okay?"

Joanna had a bad feeling about this, but remembering how Alex escaped from the fire when they all thought he was dead, she succumbed to his instruction.

"Okay, but we need you. Our baby needs you, okay?" She embraced him again, refusing to let go, but Nancy urged her on. "Let’s go. If we make it out on time, I can return to help him."

Alex was impressed by Nancy’s maturity because her words affected Joanna greatly, giving her the urgency to leave to safety for Nancy to return. But Alex wasn’t done after Joanna left.

"Dario, you and your men should go."

"Boss...." Dario was not in agreement as he was ready to give up his life, but Alex refused.

He already lost two men during the rescue mission and was not ready to lose more. "This is not up for discussion. Leave now," he yelled. But as Dario and his men were leaving, Alex noticed that Joanna was still lingering at the doorway.

About to tell her to go, Logan kicked Alex in the stomach. He winced from pain, letting out a groan.

"No, don’t hurt him," Joanna cried, about to return to his side, but Nancy pulled her away.

It was normal to take some pain during such confrontations, so Nancy was used to it. "Who is hungry?" Fiona’s voice sounded from where she was coming with a plate of food, and she saw the dons beating Alex.

"Oh, you are here," she said eerily. Logan informed her. "Won’t you go too?"

"Those who are supposed to go have already been marked by Dario, and they are already on their way. This bitch isn’t one of them," Alex groaned as Don Russo kicked him on the floor.

Due to the bomb, Alex did not want to do anything to affect the rescue and had to endure the pain. "Tie him up," Fiona said angrily. Logan agreed with her. "You are right. We should have done that a long time ago."

He dragged Alex to the large living room with the three dons and Fiona following, as they tied him up. Their agents followed as well, ready to take orders.

"You have to sign off all the things you mentioned," Logan reminded him. Alex forced a smile as he spat out blood. "Sure, but I want to know one thing. You are my brother, so why do you hate me so much? Outsiders should be the one doing this to me and not you."

Alex’s words did nothing to arouse Logan’s guilt as he smirked. "You were too favored, Alex, but my reason is still the same. You killed our father, so you have to die."

Alex smiled at the accusation. "Yes, I killed him because he was abusing mom, but if I had known how evil our mother was, I would have allowed father to kill her, and that way, you wouldn’t be hating me now."

"Mom was not evil," Logan argued, slapping Alex in the process. Alex shook his head. It was the only part he could move because his two hands were tied to the chair, just as his legs.

"You know nothing, Logan. You were too young. Ask Joan. Mom stabbed her after she rescued Dion from the fire. She was the woman I was searching for all these years because Dion made me promise to marry only her."

Logan was confused. "What are you talking about? What do you mean Joan rescued Dion? Isn’t Dion dead already?"

Alex smiled weakly, wondering if the truth would cause the slightest change in his only brother.

Chapter 204: Chapter 204 - Too late for that

Logan, would you believe me if I told you the truth?" Alex asked as the three sons grew upset. They hadn’t come here for some family drama.

"Look, just sign those documents over to us and say goodbye to your life," Don Russo snarled. Logan knew that if Alex did sign the documents, he would be dead, and Logan would never get to know the truth Alex was talking about.

As much as he wanted to see his elder brother dead, he was also curious in knowing which truth Alex was saying, especially since the last helicopter had left.

"Don, please let me hear the story. I promise to give you everything."

Logan’s assurance calmed them down, as he was the reason they had come this far.

"Alex, I want to know the truth, especially about Dion and Joan."

Logan had a feeling that everything about Joan was not as it seemed.

"Dion isn’t dead. She was rescued from the fire by Joan, but Joan suffered a head injury and lost her memory. She couldn’t remember. It was only after signing the divorce papers that Colton’s sister caused her an accident that made her remember."

"Dion has been mentally unstable because of this, and back then, there were too many enemies, so I had to create Salvatore’s men after I completed training to protect the family. The whole agency thing was only meant to protect the Kings."

"It just expanded when they started doing a good job. So you see, the day Joan rescued Dion, she was stabbed by our sweet late mother, which was why I couldn’t find her because she was admitted to a different hospital."

Logan was shocked to hear this but was still trying to piece everything together. Besides knowing the relationship between Joanna’s mother and theirs, he had no idea that Joanna had suffered so much.

"How true is this?"

"I knew you wouldn’t believe it, which is why I never told you, but..." Alex sighed. "Take my phone from my shirt pocket. I will give you the passcode, and you can see Dion’s pictures and videos."

He always looked at Dion’s pictures whenever he missed her and was careful about whom he talked about her to. Logan was eager to see his kid sister again, as she was the reason why he hated Alex so much, thinking that the latter’s negligence had caused their kid sister’s death.

As soon as he retrieved the phone, Alex gave him the passcode, and though it had been a long time, he recognized his kid sister, Dion. So many emotions flooded through him as he wondered why their old man never mentioned it.

"Does Grandpa know about this?"

"Not yet. I told Joan she was alive and told Aiden to bring her, but she refused to come. She’s upset because a lot happened, Logan. Colton, who you teamed up with, was giving his sister drugs to worsen her illness," Alex blurted out, and Logan felt guilty.

He hadn’t heard from Colton but hearing this, he knew the guy was dead. "Why did you hide her?"

"Like I said, she was looking for the girl who saved her from the fire, and that was the cause of her mental instability. I wanted to take Joan to meet her right when we returned from Asia, but then you launched that attack."

Guilty, Logan could not believe he had failed again. For the first time, he wanted to prove that Alex was wrong and he was in the right, but as it turned out, Alex was right again.

"How can you always be the good one?" He seethed, jealousy burning inside of him.

"I’m not as good as you think. I hurt Joan emotionally when I didn’t know it was her. I was just obsessed with fulfilling Dion’s wishes, so I kept searching when the person I searched for was right in front of me."

"That’s why I don’t care if you kill me, but Joan must live. Aiden knows Dion’s whereabouts and will take you there. Tell Grandpa that I signed everything over to you, but don’t let him know you were involved in my death. It would kill him."

Logan’s eyes were blurry with unshed tears. The brother he thought was evil because he was Salvatore proved to be more righteous than him.

While Logan kept thinking about how to be the CEO and control everything, Alex was more concerned about the welfare of the whole family.

"Don’t act all righteous. As Salvatore, you’ve killed a lot of innocent people," Don Adam sneered, but Alex only forced a smile.

"Everyone I killed deserved it, but those who didn’t are still alive with new identities. Like Joan, she hated me because she thought I killed her sister. You should have figured out by now that Beauty is her sister. Dario gave her a new life when our men took her by mistake."

Logan remembered that the name Salvatore used to scare Joanna a lot, but obviously, she knew it was Alex and was still with him.

As for Beauty, he never imagined that girl was related to Joan.

"I give life, Logan, I don’t take it, and that is why you can’t get any dirt on me. Did Dario show you any dirt when he promised to support you?"

The question made Logan think. Indeed, Dario never showed Logan the so-called proof he claimed to have.

"Every innocent person my men captured has a new identity and are living happier than they ever were. They are sponsored by myself and all my workers."

The room went quiet, and Logan knew he had messed up. After all that he had promised these dons, how would he go back on his word?

"It’s your fault. You kept everything to yourself," he accused Alex, who smiled bitterly. "Even when I tried to tell you, you never believed me."

"You had your eyes on the company, but I was securing everything for Dion because I knew she would be fine if she saw Joan. Make sure to take care of them, alright? And just to let you know, I don’t hold anything against you. You will always be my brother."

Don Ace saw a tear drop from Logan’s eyes and grew angry. "I hope you aren’t falling for this bullshit. Get him to sign the documents, and let’s end him."

"Don’t worry. I have a soft copy on the phone. We can sign it if that would make you happy," Alex said, but Logan was upset. He yelled, "Shut up. Shut the fuck up."

He began searching through Alex’s phone, seeing most of the coded messages. There were a lot of safety reports, but names were not mentioned.

"And Violet? You made it seem real that you two were cheating on Joan," he asked. Alex laughed.

"You know her, Logan. She would never betray her best friend, but you can’t have her back. She’s already dating Aiden, my best friend, but Mia is still single, and she has changed. Only her mother cannot be found and seems to be like trouble," Alex shrugged, and Logan laughed.

"You don’t think I’d want to go back to that bitch, do you?" Their casual conversation reminded him of when they were younger.

Alex was so protective of him and Dion, and they used to joke a lot. Then the fire and those attacks happened, and Alex transformed into this cold person right in front of their eyes, but it turns out he had a good reason for it.

"Logan saw some text messages where Alex had informed Dario not to kill Logan."

He agreed he would have been dead if Alex wanted to kill him, but somehow, he allowed Logan to live.

After deriving satisfaction from searching Alex’s phone, he came across the document for the transfer and knew that Alex had been honest all along.

He was ready to give up his hard work just because of the people he loved and would even die for them.

Also, he had rescued all those who were prisoners of the three dons. If someone was a bad person, then that person was him, Logan, the unfeeling black sheep of the family.

Instinctively, he deleted the document from Alex’s phone and confronted him. "You fucking son of a bitch. You’ve been lying the whole time."

Alex was confused and asked, "What are you talking about?"

"There are no fucking documents on the phone?"

The three dons were excited by the turn out of events, happy that Logan was not buying into this cock and bull story.

"There are," Alex countered, offering, "I can search for it."

"Give me a gun," Logan requested. The dons were confused. "He has to sign those documents first," Don Ace reminded, Logan snatched a gun from one of the bodyguards and slapped Alex with it.

"Untie his hands," he instructed the bodyguard as he gave the phone to Alex.

"Find the document."

As Alex searched for the document, he couldn’t find it, but searching his deleted items, he found it there.

Instinctively, he felt that Logan was up to something and decided to play along. "It was here, but I can tell my assistant to resend it."

"Too late for that," Logan snarled and pressed the trigger. "Now, Alex."

Chapter 205: Chapter 205 - Ten Minutes

Alex could not trust his brother again after giving him so many chances to make the correction and failing terribly at it. But neither did he intend on leaving there alive.

For the first time, Alex was willing to give up everything, knowing Joanna could survive because her company was doing amazingly well.

Logan would not be foolish to leave Dion penniless, but also, Logan would face a big issue because of all the shares of the various family members. Even Violet’s family had shares in there because of their collaboration.

He hadn’t even remembered to tell Joan about it but knew Violet would.

Even if Alex signs off the company, only a percentage can be managed by Logan because of family policies.

His loved ones were safe, and he got to tell Logan everything. Change or not, Alex was prepared for the worst. If for some reason, some God out there found him worthy to live and granted him a chance, then that would be a miracle because looking at the situation, Alex had a slim chance of survival, more like five percent.

All the bodyguards were heavily armed, with Don Ace having a bomb tied to his waist.

The other dons were not armed but could also be good fighters, though not as good as Alex. But in the worst-case scenario, Alex’s legs were tied, and his fist could never be faster than a bullet.

Among the men he brought, only two of them lost their lives, and Joanna, Nancy, Dario, and even Aiden were all safe.

For the tables turning, Alex never expected Logan to do what he did, as Alex’s eyes were closed when Logan fired the shot. But instead of waking up in the afterlife as expected, Alex realized he was still unharmed.

Momentarily, the shock smearing around due to Logan’s unexpected change was only realized after a groan escaped from a bodyguard behind Alex.

At first, everyone thought it was a mistake, not until he yelled, "Now, Alex."

The bodyguards could not operate on their own and were dismayed to be harmed by someone on their team. Perhaps blood was indeed thicker than water.

The three dons had no idea if this was real or just a stunt pulled by Logan.

"Alex," Logan yelled for the second time. Alex punched the bodyguard by his side and took the gun from him, but his legs were still tied to the chair.

He was afraid of firing a shot before due to the bomb on one of the dons, but since Logan’s shot didn’t cause any havoc, there was no time to untie them yet as he kept shooting as many bodyguards as he could.

"Kill them," Don Adam yelled before the sound of gunshots filled the room, and suddenly, everything went quiet. All the bodyguards were down.

However, Logan’s groans filled Alex’s ears as he was being beaten by Don Ace and Don Russo.

Don Adam had been shot and was groaning, but Alex was not the one who shot him. He quickly untied his legs but was in pain from the gunshot in his back, making it difficult to help Logan.

"You traitor. You betrayed us after we invested our life savings in this," Don Ace yelled. Don Adam groaned from the floor, holding his shoulder, and there was no way Alex could fire another shot because he had run out of bullets.

But strangely, the two dons standing did not seem like they wanted him dead yet.

"You shall die too, and Alex would still sign those documents."

Logan had sustained multiple shots, but miraculously, none of them affected any of his vital organs, for which reason Don Ace was trying to send him to the grave differently.

"What about the bomb?" Alex asked, seeing what was around Don Ace’s waist. The place should have blown up by now, right?

Logan groaned. "It’s fake." Blood sputtered out of his mouth as another kick was sent to his rib.

Alex’s fingers balled as he endured the pain in his back. Had he known it was fake, he would have taken care of all the people here without a blink.

His only fear from before was only because of the bomb, fearing that if the place went up in flames, it might affect the rescue mission going on.

Some victims were still being helped to the helicopter before he came in here, and he was afraid anyone would get injured.

Also, why was he still hearing the sound of a chopper? Could it be there was still someone among his team around?

He had barely killed three bodyguards as some of them needed multiple gunshots to take the life out of them.

However, there were around seven more, all with bullets stuck in their heads.

A sniper was backing him up, but seeing the two remaining dons, it was clear their positions had saved them. They were not close to the window.

"Kill them," Don Adam picked up his gun, but Alex was quick to lunge at him and twist his neck, draining the life out of him.

He glared at Don Ace and Russo, who were still beating Logan. The sight was so disheartening.

"Let him go," Alex yelled as he endured his pain and engaged in a fight with Don Ace after pushing Don Russo hard and making him lose his balance.

Skillfully, he defended himself against Don Ace despite his injuries and was just about to finish him before Don Russo said something that made him stop.

"The bomb on Don Ace is fake, but there are bombs all over, and I just activated it."

"It’s a lie," Logan groaned, spitting out blood as Alex tried to stop some of his bleeding, removing his shirt to tie up some of the injuries.

Logan caused all this, but Alex could not let him die without trying his best first. He was still his only brother and had repented in the end.

"Please, tell Dion that I love her," he was saying, but Alex could not allow it. "Shut up, I will get you help."

He was surprised the two dons hadn’t attacked him yet, but as soon as he picked up his phone, he understood why.

"Alex, we suspected Logan the moment the rescue team came, so we agreed on the fake bomb with him, but he had no idea about the real bomb," Don Russo was saying. Alex froze in his actions.

"What are you talking about?" He asked, not used to seeing people he cared about die in front of him.

Logan could have stood his ground and maintained his place beside these dons and live, but he changed sides, resulting in his present predicament.

"I just activated the bombs, and in five minutes, we are all going to die, unless," he showed Alex the timer. The latter wanted to snatch it, but Don Russo was quick to keep it from him.

"Unless what?" Alex asked in annoyance. Don Russo smirked. "Unless you go ahead with the initial plan."

Alex’s survival instincts kicked in instantly. For two dons, he could defeat them and escape with Logan if he played his cards well.

"Fine," he agreed as he picked up his phone. "Let me request the document. It won’t take time, but you have to adjust the time on the timer," he said when he heard the beeping sound.

"Of course. How many minutes?" Don Russo smirked. Alex thought about buying enough but not too much time to make them suspicious.

"Ten minutes."

"Good," Don Russo said as he sat on the sofa. Don Ace and Don Adam were gone, so this was all going to be his.

Alex sent a text message to Dario. ’Send a medevac helicopter now.’

Logan was so pale, and Alex knew it was because of all the blood he lost, and getting out of there with Logan would not be easy. Nonetheless, he had to make sure the helicopter arrived before he makes a move.

"Be fast, Alex, Salvatore, or whatever it is they call you," Don Russo said in annoyance, picking up a gun and pointing it at Logan.

"Or, we could end your brother to make it faster."

Alex had neglected himself and was beginning to feel the consequence of his injury, and dizziness began to sway him, his eyes turning blurry.

"I’ve lost too much blood."

The sound of a chopper was heard, making Don Russo suspicious and angry. "You son of a bitch. You weren’t getting me those documents, were you?"

Alex smiled blurrily at him. "Why not check it out?" He lifted the phone, showing him the documents he had retrieved from his deleted items.

Don Russo rose to his feet, and ambled to his side, about to squat and take the phone when Alex yelled, "Now."

Don Russo fell when a gunshot pierced his head as Alex began to hear footsteps before losing consciousness but was shocked by whom he saw.

"Joan, what do you want here? This place would blow up. Save Lo...," he was saying when everything went dark.
