Ch. 206..210: OMG My Crippled Husband is a Hot Powerful CEO Chapter 206-210

Chapter 206: Chapter 206 - I’m not leaving

When Joan witnessed Alex being mistreated by his younger brother, she couldn’t bring herself to leave the island, even though Nancy had escorted her to the helicopter.

The fear of losing Alex was so dense on her mind that she would not be able to sleep until she knew he was okay and that would affect her pregnancy more than if she stays behind.

"No, I’m not leaving," she declared firmly. Nancy was at a loss but felt compelled to remind her, "It’s not safe. You heard about the bomb."

Joanna’s heart sunk at the remembrance but this only strengthened her resolve not to leave. Alex had managed to escape before, but what if he couldn’t this time? Would she never see him again?

"No, I’m staying here with him," she insisted. Nancy felt helpless but reassured her, "Don’t worry. Salvatore’s team never abandons their own."

She wasn’t leaving but was mandated to ensure Joanna’s safety but never knew how stubborn he sister could be, even in the case of death.

Joan took Nancy’s hands and walked away from the helicopter. "You mean you’re not leaving?"

"No, we’ll find a way to rescue our boss," Nancy replied earnestly, instilling hope in Joan’s heart but not able to convince her to leave.

"Let’s go help Aiden," Dario suggested. Joan arrived at the cave where the prisoners were held, and they were being escorted to the helicopter. As one filled up, it would depart, and another would take its place.

"Dario, where’s Alex?" Aiden inquired as he assisted the remaining victims onto the helicopter.

"He’s still inside with those thugs but forced us to leave," Dario disclosed. Aiden’s heart sank as he scolded Dario, "How could you?"

Dario was at a loss, but when he saw Aiden heading towards the mansion, he stopped him. Together, they brainstormed while Nancy took charge of Aiden’s duties, with Joan watching helplessly.

"I managed to access some cameras. Let’s check and figure out a way to help," Dario informed them.

"Dario, I’m done here. What’s next?" Nancy inquired. Dario remembered something and instructed Aiden, "See if you can hack into the cameras there. I’ll try to deactivate the bomb with Nancy."

"And what about me?" Joan asked, unsure of her role. Aiden smiled and said, "Come check the cameras with me."

Aiden contacted 3E, who helped him gain access to the cameras and informed him that his father was safe.

"We can’t deactivate the bomb. Don Russo must have programmed it himself, and only he can control it," Dario lamented after returning with Nancy.

The few days he had worked with these dons, he could tell who was capable of what and right now, he needed a way to undo what they had done. Aiden came up with a plan, "We need a sniper."

"I can do that," Nancy volunteered before Dario could claim the task. He trusted Nancy to handle it anyway and relinquished the position to her, saying,

"Good. Let’s find a suitable position."

"Wait," Joan interjected, expressing her concerns. "What if you accidentally hit Alex?" She was so afraid of anything happening to Alex due to her inability to forget how she saw Logan kicking him.

Joanna knew Alex would have fought but due to the bomb, he decided to let Logan do whatever he wanted.

Dario reassured her, "Don’t worry. Salvatore will give us a sign. Even when he managed us virtually, there was a way to signal a rescue."

Joan felt out of her element, as these people seemed to understand things she didn’t. Even without hearing from Alex, it felt like they were still communicating with him.

"You need to take your position. Logan has a gun pointed at Alex. We need to act quickly," Aiden instructed seriously.

Dario and Nancy left to set up their equipment on higher ground, while Joan stayed by Aiden, her heart pounding.

"Aiden, please, you have to help Alex," a tear slipped down Joan’s cheek. Aiden forced a smile,

"Don’t worry. He’s not just my boss but also my best friend."

As they monitored the situation, Aiden was shocked to see Logan shoot a bodyguard and immediately communicated with Dario,

"Tell Nancy to shoot. Logan has betrayed the dons."

Nancy obeyed the command and fired anyone in sight who was not Alex or Logan until she could not see them anymore.

"What do you see? I don’t see anyone else," Nancy reported, Dario relayed the message to Aiden, sending his feedback to Nancy. "They’re inside, and Alex has been shot."

Before he could finish, Dario interrupted, "He just sent a message. He needs a medevac helicopter, and I’m calling one nearby."

Recalling that many of the victims were not severely injured, Dario had sent one medevac helicopter away empty and requested its return.

"What do we do now?" Joan asked, seeing the gun aimed at Alex. Aiden reassured her, "Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it."

He then communicated with Dario, "I’m going in, but wait for Alex’s signal."

"How will he signal, and how will they hear him?" Joan asked anxiously. Aiden explained,

"Alex texted Dario, so he can call him since he has the phone."

Alex dialed the number and showed the document to Don Russo. All he needed was to lure the idiot to the window and when he did, he shouted, "Now."

Nancy fired the shot as soon as Dario heard and gave the order. Aiden turned around but only caught a glimpse of Joan’s back as she disappeared into the mansion, and he chased after her.

Joan was determined not to be stopped and located Alex, kneeling beside him as soon as she reached him.

"Joan, what are you doing here? This place is going to blow up. Save Lo...," Alex’s voice trailed off as he lost consciousness. Joan struggled to lift him, unsure of where she found the strength.

Perhaps she had Nancy to thank for making her eat before everything unfolded but luckily, Aiden had arrived, just as Joanna securely wrapped Alex’s arm around her neck.

"Alex," Aiden was disheartened to see his bloody back and carried him out before Joan remembered Logan.

Despite her desire to see him pay, she witnessed his change of heart and decided to help him before Dario and Nancy arrived.

"I’ll take him out. Nancy, call the paramedics," Dario instructed as he carried Logan.

Hearing the beeping sound quicken, he hurried out, urging Joan and Nancy to use the window. "Use the window."

Nancy pushed Joan through the window before following, forgetting her pregnancy as the mansion erupted in flames.

Coughing and struggling to stand, Joan saw blood, and Nancy’s eyes welled up with tears for the first time in a long while.

Trained not to cry, she feared she may have harmed her unborn niece or nephew. "Come on, get on my back," she said firmly, not giving Joan a chance to refuse, and they caught up to the medevac helicopter.

"She’s bleeding," Nancy alerted, and Aiden rushed to their side, and assisted Joan to the helicopter but Nancy was surprised to see the paramedic assisting Dario.

She quickly approached the paramedic and inquired, "What happened to him?"

"He couldn’t escape in time and threw the injured man over, but I caught him. He suffered some second-degree burns but will recover," the paramedic explained.

Relieved to hear the news, Nancy wanted to accompany them in the helicopter, but the paramedic declined,

"We’re already at capacity, but you can follow in the other helicopter."

"Nancy, what about Joan?" Aiden asked anxiously. She explained sadly, "She hesitated to jump, so I pushed her. I forgot she was pregnant."

Aiden was deeply concerned for Joan, given all she had endured during her pregnancy.

He hoped she wouldn’t lose the baby, as it would devastate Alex. "Let’s go," he gestured towards the waiting helicopter, and Nancy, with tears in her eyes, remembered, "What about the victims? Someone needs to be at the base to receive and interview them."

This was the first time they all participated in the same rescue mission simultaneously, prompting Aiden to make alternative arrangements.

It was an opportunity for other agents to be promoted. "Don’t worry. I’ve arranged for someone to handle it. Once things settle at the hospital, we can go and interview them."

Nancy agreed to the plan, and they boarded the helicopter. Aiden elaborated, "They’ll undergo medical checks, be fed, and provided shelter. Then we can conduct the interviews."

This approach would alleviate their stress, and Nancy agreed. The medevac helicopter landed at the nearest hospital before they arrived, but Aiden planned to transfer them to the King’s Hospital once their conditions stabilized.

As they waited in the lobby, exhaustion overcame them, and they drifted off to sleep, losing track of time until the doctor appeared.

"Family of Joanna King, Alex King, and Logan King."

Startled awake, they both rushed to the doctor, and Aiden anxiously inquired, "Doctor, please tell us the baby is okay, and how is Dario too?"

Chapter 207: Chapter 207 – Death is too peaceful for him

"Please calm down," the doctor advised before he began to explain. "Dario Deluxe is fine. His wounds should heal in a few weeks, but he can be discharged today, and Alex King has been stabilized."

Relief washed over both Nancy and Aiden, but the doctor explained further. "The bullet missed his spinal cord by a millimeter, and he can be discharged in a few days."

Aiden and Nancy were happy, but not for long. Their worry for Joan dominated the excitement they felt earlier, and Aiden quickly asked the doctor, "What about Joan? The baby?"

The doctor sighed. "Joan’s body is quite weak, and I suggest two weeks of bed rest, or she might lose the babies," he disclosed. Aiden’s eyes widened.

"Excuse me, did you say babies?" This sounded like the best news he had heard today. Alex would wake up feeling like the happiest man in the world.

"Yes, the scan shows that she’s carrying triplets. She needs to be more careful in the future if she wants to keep all of them," the doctor concluded. Aiden embraced Nancy tightly, and the two were in tears.

"This is good news. Grandpa must hear this, but do you mind if we transfer them to the King’s hospital? I can settle the bills here first," Aiden offered, but the doctor did not refuse.

This was the closest hospital to the island, so most cases treated were usually emergencies.

"Of course, they can be transferred, except...." The doctor paused, making Aiden anxious, but Nancy was even more disturbed at this moment.

"Except what?" Nancy’s voice cut through, and the doctor forced a smile. "Logan King’s condition is critical, and we have to keep him in ICU for an indefinite time."

Aiden wasn’t so saddened by this news, as it did not override Joanna’s good news. This was the first time the Kings were going to have triplets, so everyone, including the secret haters, would be so happy.

Logan sure caused a lot of havoc and deserved what he was getting, but Aiden was not sure of moving in between Alex and Joanna to come see him.

"Can he be transported too? The King’s hospital is their family hospital, and their grandpa would be worried. I don’t want him to be making the back-and-forth journey either."

There was a little hesitation, but after careful thought, the doctor agreed.

"We can make a special arrangement for him, but I’m not sure he can pull through for long, and even if he does, he might remain in a coma for a long time or even permanently."

’Well, he got what he deserved,’ Aiden thought to himself as Nancy asked, "Can we see them?"

She was eager to see only three people. Logan’s greed jeopardized many, leaving others injured.

"For Dario, yes, but for the rest, I would prefer you wait until they wake up."

"Then we can work on transporting them," Aiden suggested, and the doctor agreed.

Seeing Dario in bandages was something Nancy had never seen before. It brought out the teenager in her.

"Dario, how are you feeling?" She asked, expecting the response of a sick person, but Dario laughed. "This is nothing. The doctor said it isn’t serious, and I can be discharged today, so I will be on my way to the base."

He was just eager to help transport some of the victims to Asia after getting them sponsorship, but that would depend on whether or not they wanted to depart from their families and take on a new identity.

"The fact that you are fine doesn’t mean you should be up and about. You need to rest," Nancy suggested, and Aiden agreed.

"She’s right. You just feel alright because of the painkillers. The moment it leaves your system, you will understand."

Dario was not listening to the two concerned people, or rather, just taking their words with a pinch of salt.

"I will just ask the doctor for more. You can’t leave without me, but how is our boss and the wife? I hope Logan is dead?" He asked. Aiden smiled, unable to understand Dario at this moment.

"You saved his life and still want him dead?"

Dario’s head lowered. He was just following orders, never intending to save Logan from his heart, but how could he disappoint his boss?

After all the sacrifice, if Logan died at the hospital, then he wouldn’t be blamed for it.

"This was all because of his greed, so he deserves what he got. He’s just lucky we are trained to kill and save lives. The boss wanted him saved."

The three laughed as Aiden updated Dario on the condition of Joanna and Alex.

"In that case, you should follow them back. Nancy and I would head to the base to take care of the rest."

Aiden did not refuse due to Dario’s stubbornness, but if things went well, then everything at the base should be taken care of within a few days or at most a week.

Reaching for his phone to dial Violet. "How are you? I’ve been trying to reach you." Violet’s voice was teary when she answered the phone, but Aiden calmed her.

"It’s okay. Everything is over, but they are being transported to the King’s Hospital. You can meet me there with grandpa."

Violet was excited but also worried and asked seriously. "Are the injuries severe? Please tell me Joan didn’t lose the baby."

Aiden explained everything to her on the phone, causing Violet’s excitement to peak. "You guys did a good job, but I think you should have left Logan to die. He endangered everyone."

It ached her that all these injuries were caused by Logan, and Aiden was still concerned for the asshole, but Aiden didn’t know how to explain it anymore.

Alex’s insisting that Logan be saved made no sense to anyone. Dario left with Nancy to take care of business, and Aiden left with the two medevac helicopters conveying the patients.

Logan’s condition was critical, so no one else was allowed with him in one helicopter, and there were three doctors accompanying him.

Aiden was grateful for the sleep at the lobby because of how much he needed the energy after they arrived at the King’s hospital.

Violet and grandpa were already there, waiting for them as the patients were received by the King’s medical team.

"Logan must not die. He has to wake up and face punishment. What a silly grandchild?" Grandpa was lamenting after Aiden explained everything to him. Violet thought otherwise, as she couldn’t believe Logan turned over a new leaf.

To her, Logan was an unchanging walking disaster that needed to be dealt with, and death would have done a good job.

"I still prefer him dead, grandpa," she countered. The old man stared at her and could not help smiling.

"No. Death is too peaceful for him," he explained, recalling all the havoc Logan had caused. At the moment, his Alex and Joanna were in this condition because of the idiot.

"Grandpa, I think Alex has a secret that would make you feel better. Both him and Joan are awake, so who do you want to see first?" Aiden asked, wondering how the old man would feel when he hears about Dion.

Even the perception of the extended family would change permanently. "I will see Adelaide first," Grandpa said. Aiden smiled as the three headed to Joanna’s ward.

"What happened? Why am I here, and where is Alex?" Joanna asked anxiously. Grandpa smiled, glad to see that she was okay.

"Calm down," he held both of her hands in his. "You need more rest than all of them for our triplets’ sake."

"Tri... what?" Joanna’s eyes were wide. This news would only be exciting if Alex was there, and recalling the state in which she saw him, so many unholy thoughts pierced her mind.

"No. I have to see Alex, I have to tell him," she tried to get off the bed, losing consciousness instantly.

"Doctor," Aiden was calling out as Violet pressed the bell by Joanna’s bedside, the doctor rushed in, urging them to leave.

"The news was too much for her," grandpa lamented sadly. It was good he had taken his medication before getting there; if not, this news would have sent him into a state of a heart attack.

"I hope she’s fine," tears welled up in his eyes, sliding down his cheek, but Aiden reminded him.

"Grandpa, why don’t we see Alex as we wait?"

Reaching Alex’s ward, he was out of control. The first person he expected to see when he woke up was Joan, and when that did not happen, he instantly knew there was a problem.

"Where is Joan? I saw her in the building before I lost consciousness. Is she okay?"

Alex looked panicked, especially when everyone hesitated before giving him any information.

Perhaps something had happened to Joan, so he had to go find her.

Quickly, he was trying to get out of his bed like Joan was doing before. When they failed to calm him, grandpa made a suggestion as soon as the doctor arrived that solved all the problems.

Chapter 208: Chapter 208 - Let’s Just Be Like This

"Doctor, I think we should put the husband and wife together in the same ward. Not only would it prevent occurrences like this but it would also make our visits easier," grandpa suggested, Alex calmed down upon hearing this, indicating that Joanna was fine.

"They were both eager to see each other, causing the woman to pass out," Grandpa continued, and Alex’s agitation resurfaced.

"Pass out? What are you talking about?" Alex was getting apprehensive and had to be sedated to go back to sleep since another set of doctors were working on Joanna.

"How could they have divorced when they loved each other so much?" Grandpa wondered, and Aiden explained,

"Grandpa, Alex had been looking for a woman for so many years, and it turns out that woman is Joanna. He didn’t know until everything that happened in Miami."

The old man did not feel that he had many years to live but was glad to have lived to this very moment.

"My son would be happy that my grandson found the happiness he didn’t," Grandpa said proudly.

The doctor came out of Joanna’s room to report. "Please, no more pressure on her. Both patients must rest," he said frustratedly when Grandpa asked him,

"What happened to her?"

"It was shock but nothing serious. Grandpa, I’m sorry, but you all have to go home," the doctor informed them.

Grandpa was tired but how could he leave without talking to Alex? "We would wait around but won’t come close to the wards until four hours later, but please move them to the same ward," he requested.

The doctor nodded. "That would be done." It wasn’t a problem because the couple in question were legally married.

A few hours later in Alex’s ward, Joanna was the first to wake up, finding herself in a different ward but with another patient.

Drawing closer, her joy knew no bounds. "Alex?" Her heart thumped excitedly, wondering if she was dreaming or if this was reality.

About to get off the bed, her movements were restricted by the IVs connected to her, but she quickly disconnected them and moved to Alex’s bed, hovering over him.

"Alex, can you hear me?"

Alex’s eyes drowsily opened, and he embraced her tightly. "Angel, you are here. I hope I’m not dreaming."

He shifted to the side and pulled her onto the bed with him. "How are you feeling?" he asked seriously, and Joanna kissed him on the lips.

"You are the injured one. How are you feeling?" She asked after pulling away, Alex captured her lips one more time, staring drowsily at her. It felt like a dream to see her like this.

Alex realized that indeed, Joanna had been fine, so why was she in the same hospital with him? "Wait, why are you here in a hospital gown? What happened to you?"

Joanna smiled and explained everything, and Alex sighed with relief. "I’m just glad you are fine. Even if we lose the child, it doesn’t matter."

For as long as she was there, they could always try again, and if that was impossible, there was always a means of adoption.

Joanna was excited because not only Alex but also their babies were fine. "Alex, the doctor said we’re gonna have triplets," she revealed, and Alex thought he was hearing wrong.

"Angel, what are you saying? Triplets? Are you sure your womb can carry them?"

His worry for her overshadowed his joy of having so many babies at once. There wouldn’t be a need to try again.

However, how could he forget about Joanna’s past injuries. The stab, and that bitch pushing her, aside from the emotional trauma Logan put them through?

Well, Joanna was determined to keep both she and their unborn babies safe, explaining her plans to Alex.

"For as long as I avoid strenuous activities and have lots of rest, this would be fine for both of us."

Alex recalled Dion. It was high time she met Joan, but the girl was so stubborn and wouldn’t allow Aiden to bring her.

"As soon as I get better, I will go bring Dion, but as for you, I will make sure you have all the rest you need," he assured her, pulling her safely to his chest. Joanna recalled something important.

"You mentioned the sponsorship. Does it apply to the victims you just rescued?" Being eager to seek the opportunity of investing in Alex’s dream, she could not forget this important part.

Alex was amazed that she remembered and nodded in agreement. "Yes. I will inform Dario so you can be registered, but where is he? And where is my phone?"

He was looking around with no sign of his phone as Joan recalled seeing Grandpa, Violet, and Aiden previously.

As to what arrangement was made to have her moved to Alex’s ward, she was very grateful for it and also happy that Alex was fine. "Maybe Aiden has it. Let’s just be like this. I thought I lost you."

She snuggled closer to him, taking in his warmth. Alex agreed, and they remained in that position before she suddenly remembered. "I don’t know about Logan’s condition, but we should ask the doctor later."

Alex didn’t know how to feel about his brother, wondering if telling him about Dion earlier would have prevented all that happened, but the most important thing was the fact that Logan realized his mistakes.

"Yes, as soon as a doctor walks in, we could ask, but now, let’s just sleep." He was still drowsy from the sedatives and with Joanna’s condition, more rest would be good for both of them.

In each other’s arms, they found the comfort that sent them into sleep for hours.

Outside the ward, four hours had passed, but the three people waiting had not received any information yet. It was frustrating and yet, they remained calm, as there was nothing else to do than wait.

On the hospital bench, Violet and Grandpa had fallen asleep and woken up, yet there was still no news.

Aiden kept watch for any signs from the doctor but getting none, he sneaked into Alex’s ward, shocked to see two people cuddling to sleep on the bed. What a wonderful day it was for him.

Suddenly, a thought came to his mind concerning Violet but he thought to keep it to himself until the right time.

A smile bloomed on his face as he returned to sleep beside Violet, allowing himself to doze off in the process.

Not knowing how much time had passed, a doctor tapped him on the shoulder. "The patients in the Kings family special ward would like to see you."

The moment Alex woke up, he was eager to see whoever was waiting for them since he began to feel energetic again.

"They are awake," Aiden said excitedly, waking Grandpa and Violet in the process. The sleep escaped from their faces instantly.

"Well, that’s good news," Grandpa said, hastening with Violet and Aiden to the ward, happy to see Alex and Joan eating together.

"Here was I, being worried about you two," he said with a smile. Joanna hastened and embraced him.

"Grandpa, I’m so glad you are here. Have you eaten yet? Let me order something for everybody."

No one refused her offer because they were starving without realizing it due to all the anxieties from before.

"And you need a lot of rest," Grandpa said and led her back to the bed. She smiled and extended her hand to Violet after ordering for more dishes.

The hospital belonged to the Kings so everyone was at the beck and call of Mrs. King.

"Come here, how have you been?" Joanna asked Violet, the latter sat on her bed, and embraced her as they began to catch up on everything that happened.

The extra dishes arrived and as they ate, Alex remembered something and enquired from Aiden.

"Has 3E’s father been united with him?" Aiden seemed to have forgotten that part and quickly dialed Dario’s number.

"3E’s father should be reunited with him."

"Got it," Dario replied and ended the call. Joanna remembered her sister and asked. "Nancy?"

"She’s fine. Only Dario sustained a second-degree burn trying to save Logan, but he’s out of the hospital and already back to work." He suddenly paused due to how Alex and Joanna glared at him, he quickly clarified.

"He insisted on going back."

Alex relaxed at the last part but made a mental note to have Dario take some weeks off with Nancy later.

Dario was secretly funding his family without their knowing it was him since he was declared dead before joining Salvatore’s men.

With his identity changed and all, his family would never recognize him even if they saw him.

Right now, his only known family was Nancy. Joanna knew the request she was going to make was not possible, but still, she had to try. "Can I see Nancy again?"

Per company policies, it was impossible but would Alex allow it just because Joanna was his wife? Aiden wondered if Alex was going to respond as Salvatore or Alexander King.

Chapter 209: Chapter 209 – You Naughty Angel

Alex had already created the perfect opportunity for them, and since Nancy was still determined to become an agent, Salvatore could no longer bend the rules for her.

"Unfortunately, not," Alex refused instantly. Joanna forced a smile and did not push it further. Too much contact with her family would make Nancy emotional, driving her to lose focus on her assignments.

"I understand, but thank you for letting her take care of me."

At least she had new memories with her kid sister imprinted on her mind, even if it was during dangerous times.

"And Logan?" Grandpa finally asked. The doctor explained, "He’s in ICU, but you can see him from outside."

With the help of the doctors, they gathered at the ICU, seeing the man on the bed through a glass partition.

He was almost unrecognizable due to his injuries. "I’m just curious to know how it all happened," Grandpa said. Alex explained every cause of Logan’s injuries, beginning from the gunshot to the beatings, expecting the old man to be saddened, but he sighed.

"That serves him right. If he recovers, he would begin working as an officer."

Everyone laughed as they imagined Logan demoted to the position of an officer, but Alex spoke up.

"I hope that this time, his change would be permanent." Alex had tried so hard to put the family back together, hoping that Logan would not make him regret it.

Still, the fact that Logan saved his life in the end after turning against the dons and the news of Dion being alive was enough for him to have hope.

Due to the love and bond flying around, Alex and Joanna were discharged in a week. Grandpa, Violet, and Aiden stayed with them at the hospital through it all, but no one informed Monica, as they feared it might affect her mental health.

Aiden had helped Joan with the sponsorship of two children in Asia, and when Violet heard about it, she also sponsored one, though she wanted more, but that was all there were no more slots.

The joy of having people live because of one’s sponsorship urged them on. Sponsorship was not a problem because most of the people under the program sponsored it the moment they were out of it due to the benefits they enjoyed.

Arriving home, Alex would not allow Joan to do anything, though he missed her cooking. All he allowed her to do was to eat and rest, and whenever she tried to resist, he would remind her. "You are doing it for our triplets."

That was enough to calm Joanna whenever she wanted to be stubborn. "Do you ever think about names for them?" Joanna asked out of the blue, and Alex stiffened.

"I’m more concerned about their well-being and would make sure that nothing endangers you anymore."

Joanna pulled him to the bed and began to kiss him all over, but Alex pulled away when he realized what she was about to do. "We can’t. Perhaps in your second trimester."

Joanna pouted. "That’s not fair. I want you now," she insisted. Alex felt helpless. How could he deny her? Suddenly, a perfect idea came to mind.

Knowing how much Joanna cared for him, he capitalized on it. "Due to my back injury, I can do it for now, but in a few weeks, I would be perfect."

Unfortunately, Joanna had another plan. "Okay. Just lie down. I will climb on top," she revealed. Alex was speechless but decided to give her what she wanted.

"You naughty Angel."

Their lips met, their bodies colliding, as he slowly sent her to the heavens of pleasure. Joanna was exhausted by the time it was over, and they both slept like babies.

A few weeks later, Alex was completely healed, and Joanna was better. However, Alex insisted that she rest, leaving Aiden and Violet with her as he went to bring Dion.

Arriving there, Dion was out of control, making him upset. "Why didn’t you inform me that her condition had worsened?" He questioned the nannies.

"We tried to contact you but couldn’t. Later, Aiden said you were injured, so we didn’t tell him why we needed you to come."

"Dion, it’s me, Alex," Alex said to his sister, feeling that this was all due to his break in contact with her for so long. Dion was hallucinating as she pleaded desperately. "Don’t do this. Come on, I won’t leave you again. I’m taking you home."

The nannies were saddened because it meant their jobs had ended.

"Please stay with me. I’m scared," Dion was curling herself. Alex embraced her tightly.

"Don’t worry. This will all be over soon." He ensured the doctor sedated her before putting her on the jet to his house.

When Dion woke up on the flight, her condition was even worse. "The fire. Help, somebody help."

It seemed to Alex like the first time he reached her at the hospital. "How could you have become worse than before?"

At this point, he feared that even Dion’s meeting with Joan might not save her.

However, he decided not to sedate her anymore, finding ways of calming her throughout the rest of the journey. Joan was relaxing on the sofa when he arrived with Dion.

Violet sat beside her eating popcorn, but as soon as Dion saw Joan, she froze.

Joan rose from the chair and ambled towards her, her movements slow. "It’s you. We meet again."

Her arms wrapped around Dion, and instant memories filled Dion’s mind. The time that woman comforted her when she thought she was going to die and all her comforting words.

Joanna began to hum. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Dion joined her, as their voices blended.

"You never told me your name, and we couldn’t find you," she spoke with clarity of mind, tears welled up in Alex’s eyes. This was the first time Dion spoke in years without being childish.

Her demeanor and everything about her mirroring her life before changed completely as well.

"Before I could find you, somebody stabbed me, and I was admitted to another hospital, but I lost my memory for years," Joanna explained. Dion embraced her and turned to Alex. "You have to marry her, or you’ll never see me again."

Alex smiled and spoke softly to her. "I’m sorry for not showing you my wife’s picture, but that was because you were never interested in meeting her. Joan is my wife."

Dion felt guilty. All this while, she had mistaken another woman for Joan, forcing her brother to marry her. "I’m so sorry. I pressured you for nothing."

Alex approached her and embraced her. It felt good to have his sister in good mental health.

"It’s not your fault. You were being drugged, but everything is taken care of."

Dion was happy, not wanting to leave Joanna’s side as she confessed to her. "I hated him because I thought he married someone else."

"Perhaps we were destined to be because she’s the only woman I’ve loved," Alex smiled and said.

He never saw his sister in her right mind after that fire like he was seeing now, but he knew she had to catch up with the world, though she had been through the hands of private tutors.

"I have a surprise for you," Alex said. Dion could not imagine any surprise better than what she had now.

"What surprise?"

Grandpa walked through the door, tears slid down Dion’s cheeks as she hastened to the old man. "Grandpa."

She and the old man were in tears as they embraced each other. "Alex, you son of a bitch. Why didn’t you tell me she was still alive?"

It ached him how he moaned for his granddaughter for so long when she was clearly still alive.

"She had a mental disorder, so I didn’t want to add to your pain, but she’s better now after seeing her savior. Grandpa, that day, Joan was the one who saved Dion," he revealed. Grandpa was not surprised.

All along, he knew that Joanna was a very good girl. Good thing it was her and not any other woman.

"So, are you going to thank me now? You silly boy. You rejected meeting her when I made the arrangement."

Well, Alex could not shoulder the blame alone. "You said the daughter of the Bakers, so I thought you were referring to Mia," he shrugged. Everyone laughed as Grandpa chastised him further.

"Well, your foolishness is pardonable, but my granddaughter has to be with me. I have to pass my knowledge to her."

Dion was saddened. "I want to be with her?" she pointed at Joan, but grandpa revealed, "Joan has a high-risk pregnancy and needs a lot of rest. You should be with me."

"You are pregnant?" Dion asked Joan. The latter nodded. "Yes."

"Then that is good news." Dion was dancing excitedly. Alex, Violet, and even Aiden were shedding joyful tears.

"Finally, there is joy in this family again," Aiden said. Grandpa shook his head.

"Who told you that? We are going to have the biggest welcome party for my granddaughter, and you all have to be there. The extended family would see why I was right in choosing Alex as the heir."

"Grandpa, where is Logan?" Dion finally asked. Everyone was saddened, and Alex didn’t know whether to hide or tell the truth to her.

Chapter 210: Chapter 210 – You two deserve it

"Dion, Logan had an accident and is not in the best of health," Grandpa said thoughtfully. Dion was more worried than they expected. Perhaps it was because they were all upset with Logan, they couldn’t sympathize with him.

He would have killed Alex but decided to repent and got caught up in his own game. Though good, the fact remained that his greed endangered everyone, for which reason he didn’t deserve their pity.

However, grandpa did not see the need to explain those sad details to Dion. After recovering from a mental trauma, it was not right to put so much pressure on her from the challenges they had been through.

It was time for her to enjoy the beautiful things of life, and that included the peace they wanted her to enjoy.

"Where is he? Can I see him?" She asked worriedly. Everyone was quiet, thinking deeply about how to calm the situation until Alex broke the silence and comforted her.

"Yes, you will see him after you settle in," Joanna added. "I will take you to your room." Though she wanted to insist, the fact that she saw the savior she had been looking for all this while caused her to agree.

After reuniting with Dion, it would be good for them to know each other better, and Violet was already sensing being left out.

"Can I come too?" She asked. Joanna smiled and informed Dion. "I’m so sorry for not having introduced you. This is Violet, my best friend, and she would be your best friend too. Guess what? We can go shopping later."

Joan was planning to purchase a few maternity clothes before that time arrives. Getting pregnant at twenty-seven was not a bad idea.

Dion was quite excited by the pair and also the youngest among them, at twenty.

By the time they reached the middle of the stairs, Alex informed Dion. "Joan is going to have triplets, so I suggest you take good care of her."

This was news worth celebrating, and everyone was so happy to hear it. "It’s going to be the first time in the Kings family. "You two deserve it, Alex," Grandpa tapped him on the shoulder.

As soon as Joanna and Dion were out of view, grandpa had a discussion with Alex.

"Can Dion work at the company yet? She looks so diminished." Though she was well cared for, her mental instability caused her to eat little most of the time.

"That’s because of her previous unstable mental health, but I believe she would be fine within a few months," Alex said reassuringly, thinking about Joanna’s question of what he intended to call the triplets.

Their sexes were yet to be determined, so it would be a good idea to wait until then. But thinking through it, Alex never regretted the sacrifices he made, especially after being rewarded with triplets at thirty.

"Now I can die in peace. You have made me so happy and proven that you can take care of the Kings on your own."

A lot was expected from Alex, who was given so much, and the fact that he kept Dion secretly alive as well as Logan, who did not even deserve it, proved the complexity of character grandpa was looking for.

"I don’t have to wait anymore. At Dion’s welcome party, I will sign off the chairmanship to you." It was the last part to make Alex the sole decision-maker, even if the board decides to vote against any decision he makes.

"I hope that Logan gets better," Alex said, not really caring about the chairman position. All he wanted was to see Dion happy, knowing that Logan’s presence would do so.

"I hope so too, but I overheard some things. That you made some rescue. Why isn’t it on the news even as Salvatore and where are they?" Grandpa asked worriedly, since he had no idea about what Alex does in Asia.

At this point, Alex could not hide anything, especially when he was thinking of resigning from his CEO position at his agency and giving more time to expanding the King’s multinational, as well as training Dion.

For the most part, he wanted to have lots and lots of time for his wife and future kids.

Working with the agency was more stressful than working with the Kings and riskier.

Family meant sacrifice, so if Alex wanted the happy family he imagined with Joan, then he had to seriously cut down his workload.

"Since you asked, I will take you and Dion there very soon. Joan already knows what we do with such people."

As he spoke, he got an idea. Even if Dion got upset with seeing Logan in his state, they could all travel to Asia for some refreshing moments with those rescued.

A week later, preparations were ongoing for Dion’s welcome party. The family had paid Monica lots of surprise visits, happy she was doing well.

Dion was catching up fast with the world, beginning from when they went shopping. Violet had to return to work, but her relationship with Aiden grew steady and smooth.

A day before Dion’s welcome party, she insisted on going to see Logan and was accompanied by grandpa, Alex, and Joan.

Everybody watched Logan from the glass partition, but Dion insisted on going in to be beside Logan.

"It’s not right, grandpa. His life is hanging on a thin thread," the doctor said but Alex kicked against it.

"The only reason he changed was because I mentioned his long-lost sister. So, what if he dies now? They would have had no chance to meet, so even if today would be his last day, let him spend it with Dion," Alex said seriously.

Logan had been eager to meet Dion, and nothing showed he was going to survive. To Alex, it was better to make good use of every moment like it was just yesterday.

"Alright, if you say so, but she would have to wear some scrubs," the doctor suggested. Dion did not refuse.

Watching her through the glass partition with Logan, Joan saw the similarities between the sister and the brothers.

Dion had been told not to touch Logan, but she was seen holding his hand and saying some words to him.

Not long after, they heard the beeping sound of the monitor change. The doctors rushed in and sent Dion out, and Alex asked her, "What did you tell him?"

"That it’s been so many years, and I wish to hear his voice again," Dion revealed. Alex was about to say something when his voice was overridden by that of Joanna.

"Dion, the doctor is calling for you."

Their attention focused on the team of doctors who came out after Dion went in again.

"What happened?" Alex asked. The doctor had tears in his eyes. "He’s awake but can’t move his limbs. He would need months of physiotherapy to ever walk again," the doctor said with joy. Alex asked further. "So why the tears?"

"When we got there, he insisted that we call his sister. He even said he heard her voice from his subconscious mind and wants her to hear his voice," the doctor revealed. Alex was in tears.

Maybe, just maybe, he should not have kept Dion’s survival a secret from grandpa and Logan. Logan, for instance, seemed to have kept his longing for his sister on the inside, not only blaming Alex but doing everything in his might to make things difficult for him.

"I think he wants to see you," the doctors said. Alex looked through the glass partition to see Dion waving at them.

As grandpa, Alex, and Joan went in, Logan and Dion’s hands were joined together. "Thank you for keeping her safe, Alex," Logan said seriously. Alex was filled with regret.

"I should have told you sooner."

"You should have," Logan agreed. "I’m sorry for everything. Without our parents, our only sister, nothing felt the same," Logan said seriously. Alex agreed.

"We don’t have our parents, but we have each other."

Grandpa was in tears. How long he had wished for these siblings to agree on something and speak so calmly.

"Logan, you bastard. Why didn’t you confide in me if you were depressed?" Grandpa chastised him. Logan had tears in his eyes.

"I’m sorry. I just felt that no one cared and all that mattered to you was Alex. But you are right. All along, all he did was protect the family."

The tears of joy got even the doctors shedding some. "Joan, I’m sorry for everything," Logan apologized and insisted. "I want Dion to live with me."

"Yes," Dion agreed. "I’ll take care of him to get better."

Alex was a little perplexed, but grandpa pulled him to the side and explained to him. "It’s better this way. Caring for someone would help her to mature faster."

"Okay. It’s just that I’ve watched over her all her life, and it feels saddening to not do so anymore."

Grandpa laughed and gazed at Joan. "Well, you have your wife and triplets to care for."

Alex smiled and embraced Joan as he responded to grandpa. "You are right." Facing Logan, he declared. "Dion goes with you if you get better."

"And we have a welcome party for her tomorrow," Grandpa added, and Logan thought carefully, saying to Alex. "Can I speak to you alone for a while?"
