Ch. 271..275: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 271-275

Chapter 271

Anthony's expression darkened. "Didn't you lie here so that someone would come to touch you?"

She widened her eyes in disbelief as she wondered if the man before her was mentally ill. "I was just taking a break."

She could tell that Anthony had had quite a few to drink as well, but then again, it was only natural for one to drink

when they were at a bar.

"Who's Charlie?" He questioned darkly, "Another guy?"

Her heart almost stopped when she heard Anthony mentioning Charlie's name, terrified that she might have let it slip in

her sleep.

"Um..."

Anne was about to explain wnei ander walked over to them and said, "You are here, too, Mr Murwocd? What a

coincidence. Our department is having a gathering here as well."

Anthony shot him a cold look before looking away from Anne and walking into the gentlemen's room.

Xander tensed at the chilling glare he received and realized he had approached them at the wrong time.

Anne frowned and pouted at the fact that despite not seeing Anthony for most of the past month, she had run into him yet again.

I knew I shouldn't come to this gathering,' she thought to herself.

"You are lucky that Mr. Marwood showed up here, or someone would have taken advantage of you." Xander saw what had happened when he stepped outside the room.

v

"What...?”

"You are a pretty girl. Don't you think it's a little dangerous for you to just lie down here?" he reminded her.

Anne tried to think, and her head simply grew heavier as she did.

'So he wasn't trying to touch me but was keeping me from getting molested? It's not my fault, though, Is it? I didn't know...' she thought.

"Wait here and apologize to Mr. Marwood later," Xander said before leaving.

"But..." She tried to make him stay. Though she was willing to apologize, she did not want to face Anthony on her own. She had not responded to Anthony's question, and she dared not to run out of fear that Anthony might look into it himself. The consequences would be unimaginable if he did, so she had to handle it.

When Anthony came out of the bathroom and saw her standing there, he simply glanced at her and was about to walk right past her when she walked toward him. However, she had moved too hastily, and the dizziness had caused her to stumble right into his arms.

Stunned, she remained still blankly until he lifted her chin and muttered, "It's been a while, and you seem desperate for it, hm?"

His cold fingers on her frail skin had caused her to shiver, and she forced herself to stand tall before him.

"No... That's not it. I'm drunk, but I am not seeing anyone.

Charlie... is my neighbor’s kid. I lost my child, and I keep getting nightmares. Seeing those kids makes me think of my

own child, so I call out their names sometimes..." she explained as she tried to support her head with her hands.

He stood tall and unmoving as he took in her helpless expression.

Anne looked up with flushed cheeks and doe-like eyes before moving out of Anthony's way.

His eyes followed her every movement like a demon before he strode forward and dragged her away by her arm. "Ah!

What are you..."

"Stop making a fool out of yourself out here."

"I... I am not..." Her legs began to tremble as her vision blurred, and she could barely walk properly. Just as she was

about to fall, he wrapped his arm around her waist and lifted her up.

The alcohol had slowed her down, and she could not even react. Anne simply leaned her head against his shoulder

and closed her eyes.

When Xander headed out of the room to head to the washroom, he happened upon the scene where Anthony carried

Anne away.

Chapter 272

He returned to his room and tossed her onto the couch before staring down at her while she slept.

Her face was flushed under the effect of the alcohol, which made her look both innocent and seductive at the same

time.

Her collar had loosened from moving around along the way, and he could see the flushed skin under.

Anne was going to sleep, but he commanded coldly, "You reek of liquor. Go take a shower."

Unfortunately for him, even a knife against her neck would not stimulate a reaction from her.

Anne simply twitched and trembled, so he tried to pull her up, and she buried her deeper into the blanket.

He grabbed her by the jaw and repeated, "I'll say this again. Go take a shower."

"No... Go away. I want to sleep..." She shoved his hand away and tried to go back to sleep.

Anthony was a clean freak, so he would not allow her to sleep in her outside clothes even if it was not his bed, so he grabbed onto her wrist and dragged her all the way into the bathroom.

"Don't... Umph...!" Her stomach twisted, and she vomited all over Anthony.

He froze at the warm sensation spreading across his clothes, and his expression darkened.

Anne, on the other hand, felt much better after vomiting and falling onto the ground. However, her head was still spinning, and she was on the verge of falling back to sleep once again.

"Damn you, woman!" He roared and grabbed her by the collar before tossing her into the bathroom.

When the water from the shower head hit her without warning, she screamed and curled up in the corner.

Anthony glared at her, drenched and disoriented, before looking down at his tainted clothes darkly.

He took his clothes off to wash them, and Anne was still trying to comprehend the situation. All she knew was that she was in danger and something terrible would happen if she did not escape, so she struggled to get up and run. Which to Anthony, looked as though she was moving in slow motion.

Just as she thought she had the hope to get away, he grabbed her and pulled her toward his chest.

"Umph!"

He grabbed her chin and tilted her face up. "You haven't showered. 11

Drenched from head to toe, water started dripping off the tip of her hair, yet still, it did not conceal her beauty, nor did it stop her from fighting back. So when Anthony leaned in closer, she bit on him with all her might.

"Mm..." When she finally regained consciousness, she turned around and wrapped her arms around a 1 pillow', which was what she often did when she was away from her children. However, though she was not sure if she was holding one of her children or a pillow, the texture seemed off. Anne slowly opened her eyes and snapped when she saw the face just inches away from her.

"Ahh!!!"

Anthony scowled with his eyes still closed and muttered in a hoarse voice, "Stop yelling!"

She crawled up from the bed and tried to cover herself with the blanket when she noticed that Anthony was naked as

well.

'What is going on? I thought I was in a gathering with my colleagues Why am I sleeping with Anthony?' She tried hard

to think, and as her memories returned, her face turned pale.

He sat up, and the blanket fell off, revealing the muscular build beneath it, and her heart raced.

"Remember everything now?"

"Thank you for helping me... but you didn’t have to bring me to the bed..." She remembered Xander telling her that she

was not taken advantage of only because Anthony appeared, but waking up naked on the same bed was too much.

"So, you've forgotten how you puked all over me?" His expression remained dark when he thought back to it.

Anne tried once again to recall, aiid memories of her vomiting and biting Anthony came back to her.

She noticed the bite mark on Anthony's lips and turned away awkwardly.

"You seem disappointed that I didn't touch you," he studied her intently.

Chapter 273

"What?" She did not understand what he meant. "I didn't think that."

The next instant, she froze at the sound of knocking on the door and wondered for a moment if it was one of her

children.

"Go open the door," he commanded rudely.

Anne hesitated because she had no clothes on her at all, and if she were to grab her clothes, she would have to walk

around naked in front of Anthony.

"Is there a point in hiding?" he asked before snatching the blanket away.

"Ah’!" She screamed while fumbling to cover herself.

"Shut up!"

She put on her clothes while blushing and cursed at him in her mind over and over again as she went to open the door.

Whoever was outside the door remained quiet after knocking twice on the door as though they were never there to begin with.

When she opened the door, she found a bodyguard standing outside with a bag of clothes.

The bodyguard left as soon as he handed her the bag, and Anthony left as well without another word after changing into his new clothes.

She sighed a breath of relief that nothing had happened the night before. Her stomach started to rumble, so she went to check the time and was shocked that the two of them had slept until past nine.

Luckily, it was a Saturday, so she did not have to go to work, but she still had to go and find her children.

Her lips curled into a smile at the thought of seeing her children.

Anthony stopped Just as he was on the stairs to the fifth floor from the sixth floor, and he glanced toward the sixth floor.

'Charlie... That kid?' he thought.

Shortly after, he turned around, and when Anne spotted him heading up to the sixth floor, she was absolutely terrified.

'Why is he heading to the sixth floor? Is he suspecting something? I didn't do anything, though. Is it just because I called out for Charlie when I was drunk? But I've already explained...' She thought.

There were two families on the sixth floor, and Anthony's instinct had led him to one of them.

He approached the door in silence and went to knock on the door.

Soon, the door opened, and the nanny was stunned at the sight of the man outside her door. "Who... who are you looking for?"

"Charlie."

Children had sharp ears, and Charlie ran over at the sound of someone calling his name. "Are you looking for me?"

Chris and Chloe ran over as well, and the three looked like dwarfs next to him.

The triplets looked up curiously. Anthony scowled as he looked down at the three, who had paint all over them, not just

on their hands but on their faces as well, to the point that it was hard to tell their noses from their eyes.

He scanned the three children wordlessly as though he merely had the wrong address.

"What do you want?" Charlie asked smugly.

"You are covered in paint. Is no one looking after you?" Anthony said.

"We just let them finish playing before cleaning them," the nanny said nervously.

Chloe batted her big eyes and grabbed onto Anthony's trousers." Do you want to play with us?"

Anthony tensed, his expression darkening when he saw her paint- covered hands come into contact with his trousers.

The nanny immediately moved Chloe's hands away%

Chapter 274

Anthony returned to the corridor with a dark expression and a little handprint on his trousers.

He did not quite know why he had decided to corne to the sixth floor to see the children.

Was it because of what Anne said?

His mood worsened at the thought.

Anne dared not go up to the sixth floor until she saw Anthony's car leaving.

She closed the apartment door behind her as soon as she went inside, and when she saw her children running toward

her, she immediately moved away. "No, wait. My clothes will get dirty..."

"Mama, that...that guy came to look for us!" Charlie said.

"Is he with Mama?" Chloe asked.

"Was he with you last night, Mama?" Chris asked curiously.

Anne felt as though her children had seen right through her. "No, he just happens to be in the area..."

What else could she say?

When the children returned to their games, she whispered to the nanny, "Did he say anything?"

"Nothing. He just acted like he had the wrong door and left. It was weird," the nanny said.

Anne did not quite understand why Anthony decided to come up to the sixth floor as well. He would not have left if he suspected the triplets' identities, but one could never guess what was on the mind of someone as complicated as Anthony.

Luckily, Anne had called the nanny ahead of time and told the children to put paint all over their faces, or Anthony would have noticed their resemblance right away.

In the Archduke Group, the elevator door opened, and Oliver, who had been waiting outside, bowed. "Morning, Mr. Marwoo..."

He looked up and immediately spotted the wound on Anthony's lips and wondered why there was a wound at such a spot. It almost looked as though it was a bile mark left by a lover.

Naturally, as Anthony's subordinate, Oliver could only keep all his thoughts to himself.

Meanwhile, Anne realized that her stomach looked slightly swollen when she was in the shower at night.

One would not be able to tell when she was fully dressed, but it was rather obvious when she took off her clothes.

Have I gained weight? But I don't look fat anywhere else. Did I just gain some weight on my stomach?' she thought.

Bianca did not care when she first received the video from Michelle.

The background was dim and noisy, so it was clearly taken in a bar.

Bianca's eyes widened when she spotted a familiar figure.

It was Anthony and the person he was carrying... Even though she could not see the face, she knew by instinct who that was.

Shivering in rage, Bianca realized that Anthony and Anne were seen together again, and Anthony was even carrying her in his arms.

Will you ever leave, Anne Vallois? I can't let her live!' she thought.

Bianca's eyes glittered viciously as she looked at the calendar.

It had been two months, and she could not wait any longer, or Anne would start to be suspicious.

Anne realized that her menstruation did not come.

It had been more than a month since the abortion surgery, and she figured that she might be suffering from hormonal imbalance, which could be rather difficult to recover from.

She grabbed her mug and went into the restroom to pour herself some water before heading to the stairway to sit down alone for a while.

'My stomach kind of hurts from time to time, so does that mean I'm getting my period soon? Maybe I should just wait,' she thought.

Just as she was about to push open the door leading to the stairway, she heard someone arguing inside.

"Just what are you doing? How can you lack ambition to this extent? Look at Anthony and take a look at yourself. If you don't work hard, the difference between the two of you will only grow larger in time! Aren't you at least a little anxious?" Damian lectured.

"Is there anything else you want to say to me?" Tommy asked.

"I won't even bother talking to you if you aren't my son! Do you want to live under their mercy our entire lives? I can't

do it!

Annoyed, Tommy had to urge to shut his father up in whatever way possible. He glanced at the spot where his father

stood and realized that one shove was all it took for Damian to fall. Even if Damian survived the fall, it should quiet

him down for a while.

"You can't do it, so you are forcing your son to do it instead?"

Tommy and Damian were startled and turned to find Anne standing by the door.

Damian looked as though he was about to swallow her whole. " What are you talking about? Who sent you? Scram!"

"Did I say anything wrong? You wouldn't have to make your son do anything if you were capable enough. Don't keep

comparing your kid to someone else's. Other people's children aren't necessarily better. To neglect your own son

because of someone else's son is the biggest joke I've ever heard!" Anne mocked.

"Why you!" Damian was furious.

"Let me guess why you are so bard on your son. Has Elder Marwood compared you to Ron Marwood before?" she

said.

Damian tensed and looked away while Tommy stared at Anne calmly.

"You can't just traumatize your own son because of what you've been through. Parenting isn't like that. You will erase

the strength he has."

Damian's face was twitching in rage. "Who are you to lecture me on parenting?"

Tommy grabbed Anne by the arm and said, "Let's go."

Chapter 275

Leaving Damian behind on his own.

They returned to Tommy's office, and Anne immediately pulled away. "Why did you take me here? I'm going downstairs."

"He is still mad, so he might come after you." Tommy sat on the couch with his legs crossed.

Anne stilled hesitantly. Though Damian could not fire her, he seemed like the type to hit people, so she took her seat leisurely and poured herself a glass of water.

"Have you always been that reckless?" He watched as her lips reddened in contact with the hot water.

Anne knew what he was referring to and wanted to say no, but when she thought back to everything that had happened in the past, she realized she had always been reckless. Had she not gone to the bar back then, she would not have gotten into a physical relationship with Anthony, would not give birth to the triplets, and would not be in so much drama with Anthony since then. Those were all the consequences of her recklessness.

"It's courageous. I'll give you that." Tommy tapped his finger on the armrest cheerfully, seemingly unaffected by his father's 'lecture'.

She asked, "You don't have it easy, huh? To be compared to Anthony since you were young. I didn't know, but anyone would be upset. Your father doesn't know about your overseas investment, though, does he?"

"Anyone can find out if they want to. It's a shame..." Tommy said sarcastically.

"Is your father why you act like a psychopath?" Anne made a bold guess that this was the reason why Tommy hated Anthony.

He shot her a cold look. "You are asking too many questions."

Anne quieted down, as she did not really care about the answer.

"I'm traveling abroad, and your Mr. Principal is coming, too," Tommy said.

Her eyes widened by a moment, knowing that this was about their investment in an oversea mine.

He gave her a sidelong glance and said, "If someone bullies you, you can call me. You are working for me now, after all.

She studied the mysterious smile on his face and did not place much trust in the words he said. She stayed for a little while longer before getting up to leave.

Back in the office, she sat at her desk dazedly while thinking to herself, 'So Lucas is traveling abroad? If it's about business, he will probably be gone for a few days, right?"

She stared at her phone, contemplating if she should give him a call. Now that she had found

out about it, she could not pretend that she did not know.

Suddenly, her phone started ringing, and she jumped. When she glanced at the screen, she noticed that it was from Lucas. For a moment, she wondered if they had telepathy.

She stepped outside with her phone and answered when she was in the hidden corner. "Mr. Newman."

"Busy?"

"Nope. Slacking off."

He chuckled. "Dinner tonight?"

"Yeah. Sure."

At night, Anne got off work in time and spotted a familiar car to the right as soon as she stepped outside. She ran over and asked, "Have I kept you waiting?"

"No. I've just arrived." Lucas opened the door to the passenger seat.

"Thank you." She went in and buckled up.

Lucas had not hired a driver and, instead, drove them to a high-class restaurant himself.

Like a young child coming home from school, Anne was starving but managed to contain herself from shoving food into her mouth violently in front of Lucas.

"I wanted to take the kids here as well but was worried that it may cause you trouble. Invite me to your place for dinner when I come home?" he said.

"I heard from Tommy and was about to call you when you called me first." She chuckled." How long will you be gone? I will get prepared for when you come back."

"I should be back within a week," he said.

"Alright. I will cook."

"I look forward to it."

After dinner, Lucas sent her back to her apartment and stopped the car downstairs.

Anne put her phone away and asked, "Do you want to come upstairs?"

He glanced at the stairs and said, "maybe when I get back."

Anne was surprised that he would refuse to go up but was relieved that he did. Though she noticed that Anthony was still currently in the Archduke Group, she still felt the pressure.

"Travel safe tomorrow." She did not insist and simply went upstairs to turn on the lights in her apartment before looking down from the balcony.

Lucas's car drove off into the distance as though they were only friends that were meeting for dinner.

Lucas was mature and thoughtful, so she felt safe next to him, but Anne did not dare to expect anything from him apart from friendship.
