Ch. 146..150: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 146-150
Chapter 146: Messenger of Death
This morning Bo Harrison was too shocked to hear that Mr. Gavin Riddle, assistant of Evan Collins, the owner of Starlight Investment, wanted to meet him in person. He can’t avoid this man because, according to his resources in the capital said; Mr. Gavin Riddle is a trusted person of Evan Collins, the heir of Collins Group.
Since Bo Harrison knows the real identity of Evan Collins, he can’t avoid Starlight Investment. He likes to serve influential people because they have a lot of money and invisible power behind their backs. He really needs those powers to protect his position.
"Mr. Riddle, such an honor to receive you in this office." Bo Harrison’s high-pitched voice echoed through the room. "What made you, Mr. Riddle, willing to come to my humble office? Just tell me, is there anything I can do for Starlight?"
Gavin and the others listen in silence. In their eyes, this old, smug man resembled a bad theater performer acting in front of them. No sense of sincerity in his smile and words. They can feel his words contain a message; as long as there is money, we will do whatever you ask, even if it is impossible.
Rose felt like throwing up when she saw this man. Gosh! Government officials like this who put money and power above anything else must be eradicated. Isn’t their job to serve all citizens, regardless of social status?
"It’s not me who wanted to meet you, Mr. Harrison...." Gavin said as he looked at Oliver before continuing, "I hope you can help this gentleman beside me. He is my friend!" Gavin deliberately didn’t say anything as Rose wanted her team to handle this situation directly.
Bo Harrison’s smiling face suddenly turned displeased, looking at Oliver. He doesn’t like people who use influential friends to come to see him. It was as if they had tricked him into taking his precious time.
"Hello, Mister...?"
"Oliver Hester! And this is my assistant Sam Russell. We’re both from the Wilson Group company." Oliver stood up from his chair and offered a handshake to Bo Harrison.
"Bo Harrison!" Bo Morrison reluctantly accepts Oliver’s handshake, but he can’t avoid it because Gavin is still in the room with them. He also exchanged a handshake with Sam Russell. But when his eyes suddenly fell on the beautiful woman sitting beside Sam. He was mesmerized like this woman spells him to only look at her.
Bo Harrison, find it odd why this woman wasn’t introduced? In his perverted and disgusting mind, the corrupt government official is interested in the woman’s beauty. Although this woman wore clothes that were not tight and revealing, as a man who often slept with a young chick, the pervert man could tell that this woman had the body shape many men dream of. If they can give him this woman as a companion, he will consider whatever they ask him later.
Suddenly his low mood rises instantly. He’s imagining his night with this cute young chick. His smile suddenly appeared to grace his round fat oily face again as he looked at Oliver.
"Mr. Harrison, I have to excuse myself first. I need to go to the bathroom..." Gavin suddenly stood up from his chair. After glancing at Rose for a second, he left the room.
Now, only four people are in the meeting room.
Without wasting time, Oliver handed a black folder to Bo Harrison. "Mr. Harrison, maybe you already know why we come here and meet you. I will not be wasting your time more than required... Well, we need your signature for the application form to open a branch of our company in this city. We know the procedure can take a few days to arrive at your desk, but, at this time, we urgently need this document...." Gavin tells Bo Harrison what they need.
He didn’t want to linger in this place longer than he must. The way this man looked at Rose made him sick. And Oliver also could feel that Sam was irritated too. Oliver knew that Sam could break Bo Harrison’s neck any minute if they stayed in this room too long.
Rose clenched her first tightly under the table as Bo Harrison read the document. Suddenly the large meeting room that could accommodate 20 people felt so small. Her chest tightened after seeing Bo Harrison’s nasty-looking eyes staring at her. She knows exactly what is in this old smug, morbidly fat man’s mind. Just thinking about it made her want to throw up. But, she endured it. This is for her company affair. She must try to calm down. Wait until Oliver throws this man his death sentence.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Hester, with this sort of thing, I can’t help you because there’s a clear procedure going on here..." Bo Harrison smiled as he closed the folder and pushed it back at Oliver.
Who the hell is this Wilson Group? Do they use Starlight to get him to agree to sign? Never in his life will he give what this small company needs. Unless... Bo Harrison’s eyes landed on Rose. His pervert smile appears again as he licks his lips, but he remains silent. He will wait until Hester offers him this chick. He knows their purpose is to bring this chick into his office, to provide him with, right?
"It seems Mr. Harrison misunderstood our meaning here..." Oliver’s sinister smile appears on his pale, calm face. His voice was low but managed to distract Bo Harrison, who was busy imagining sleeping with the young chick. He turned his gaze, looking at Oliver. He was instantly stunned.
Why does Oliver Hester’s face suddenly look like a messenger of death? Not someone who wants to plead something vital from him? Bo Harrison was confused and started to worry. Before he tried to ask, he heard Oliver Hester continue his words.
"MR. HARRISON..." Says Oliver in a low, determined, and horrifying tone. After a few seconds pause, Oliver continues, "you may look at the last page. Whatever decision you make, whether you will sign the document or not, will have its ramification....How bad it is, it depends on you." Oliver then looked at his Patek Philippe as a sign that he didn’t have time to linger in this place.
Rose was secretly delighted to see Oliver, who looked arrogant, talking to this old fat man. It seemed like she couldn’t wait to see what would happen next, but her cell phone vibrated at the same time. Rose was surprised to see the name that appeared on the cellphone screen. She quickly whispered to Sam and left the room.
Chapter 147: Have A Mercy On Me, Little Lady!
"Brother Noah! You finally called me!" Rose’s low mood suddenly arose again after hearing Noah’s calm voice from the other end.
"I’m sorry, Rose, I was recording earlier, so I can’t see my cell phone."
"Hahaha, It’s okay, brother... I can understand." Rose walked out of the building and stopped by a park next to the building.
"Where are you now?" Noah smiles when he hears Rose’s cheerful voice. Something he hadn’t listened to the last time they spoke because she was stressed with Willard Harper.
"Me? I’m still in Vale city. Looks like my business here will be finished in two days. But after that, I’m going to stop by East city before returning to the Capital..." Rose tells him her plan to visit her mother. She also told him about her worry because she is suspicious about her mother’s odd calls.
"Relax... don’t think anything weird, Rose! Aunt Molly just misses you. Don’t you realize that you have never lived apart from her? This is the first time you have stayed apart from her, so it’s only natural that she misses you badly."
"Yeah, I know that brother... but still, I feel my mother is hiding something from me. And Uncle... seems like he’s teaming up with my mom, now! He also didn’t say anything when I asked him about this. Gosh! I can’t believe Uncle betrayed me when I moved to the Capital." Rose took a deep sigh. At first, she had entrusted Uncle Jamie Stone as her spy to monitor her mother, but now he was taking her mother’s side.
"Hahaha, what do you expect from that old man, huh? You know he has liked your mother ever since. Damn it! That old guy has a thick face and great perseverance. He has never given up on your mom."
"Hahaha... my poor uncle Jamie!"
"Rose, you should buy him nice food if you meet him. That old man is so pathetic."
Rose burst into laughter when she heard Noah mock his own father.
"Brother, My mother will move to the Capital soon. I have already bought a house for her. I hope you also can convince uncle Jamie to move. He’d be even more pathetic if he lived alone in East City, wouldn’t he?"
Noah frowned when he heard Rose bought a house in the Capital. Does this girl have a lot of money? He knows Rose is starting her new company, but he never knows how big the company is and what field it is in. Noah knew that Rose and her mother were quite well off. They had money, but to buy a house in the Capital requires a lot of money.
"Well, I often ask that old man to move with me. But he always refuses. Now, I’m tired of talking about it. By the way, where did you buy the house? Maybe I can also use it as a reference to buy a house for him. So he can continue to pursue your mom."
"Gee, brother!" Rose can’t help but laugh again. How miserable Uncle Jamie’s life was because he had to continue the struggle to chase after her mother. "Well, I bought a house in the Little Heaven area. Do you know that place, right?"
Sean was shocked.
Did Rose really buy a house in Little Heaven?
Sean knows so well that properties in that area are costly. It’s not only expensive, but money can’t buy it. Only politicians or influential people related to Collins Group can buy the house in Little Heaven. In fact, even if he has enough money to buy any property in Little Heaven do not belong to the group of people who can purchase property in that area.
But, how could this girl buy it there? Has the Little Heaven rule changed now?
"Brother, are you still there?" Rose didn’t hear Sean’s voice though the call ended. She saw her phone screen, but the connection was still on.
"Rose, sorry, I was just talking to my assistant...." Noah had just asked his assistant to check on Little Heaven. If he could buy a house there, he would buy it for his father. He also likes the area.
"I texted you earlier... I wanted to ask when are you coming back from the European Tour? Can we meet after that? There’s something I want to tell you."
"What is it? Can you say it now?"
Rose wanted to immediately tell Noah about her relationship with Evan. Still, she didn’t want to talk about it over the phone. She wanted to meet him in person.
"No!" Rose laughs when she hears brother Noah angry at the other end.
"I’ll probably be back in a month. Rose, you better tell me so I won’t be curious for a month. Gosh! That long curiosity could kill me...." He said pitifully.
"Hahaha, no way! I will tell you in a month when we meet."
"Have mercy on me, little lady! How could you torture your big brother like this?"
After talking for a while, Rose ended the call when her eyes saw an old man sitting on a park bench not far from where she was standing. He looked in pain, and she didn’t see anyone else near him. Instantly, her heart moved to help, forgetting that right now, she should be back in the meeting room to meet Oliver and Sam.
"S-Sir... are you alright!?" Rose squatted slightly to see the condition of the man who was in pain, holding his stomach.
When the man lifted his face, Rose was surprised. This grandpa looked clean, with no indication of bum-looks as she had previously thought. He is wearing a khaki fedora hat and gold-round-frame glasses. Judging from his outfit, this old man looks like a tourist visiting the city of Vale. He was wearing a brightly colored floral shirt with white knee-length shorts. He looked like someone who was going to see the beach.
Did this old man get lost and separated from his group?
"Sir, can you hear me? Where is your family? Why are you alone here? Are you separated from your group?" Rose asked worriedly.
Chapter 148: Lost (1)
"L-Little girl..." The old man’s voice was shaking. It made Rose even more worried about this old man’s condition. "H-Help! I feel so hungry. But I didn’t bring any food, and now my low sugar has risen, I can’t walk. My head is spinning...."
"S-Sir... wait..."
"Grandpa! Just call me Grandpa, little girl...."
"Alright, Grandpa... please wait here." Rose held the old man’s hand. She was shocked when she felt his hand felt so cold. "I will buy some food for you. Don’t go anywhere...." Rose rushes toward the minimart right next to the Company Registration Office building.
For some reason, seeing this old man in pain alone made her remember her mother’s parents. She doesn’t have memories of her grandpa because her grandfather died when she was little, but her mother often told her about her grandfather. And when she saw an old man in pain, it broke her heart.
After some time, Rose returns to the park bench where the old man is. She sat next to him, who was still holding his stomach. She gave him bread and a sweet drink to fill his stomach for a while. If he could walk, Rose wanted to take him to lunch with her later.
"Grandpa eats slowly. If you are still hungry, eat more. I bought a lot of snacks to help you quench your hunger." Rose smiled when she saw this old man was so voraciously eating his bread. How long had he not eaten to make him eat this voraciously? She felt sad for him.
"Thank you, little girl..." The old man glanced at Rose with a look of delight in his eyes.
"Grandpa, where is your family? Why are you staying alone here? Are you lost?"
"I don’t know. I don’t remember...." The old man’s trembling voice made Rose even more worried.
"Did you bring any phone?"
"That’s the problem, little girl... My cellphone is lost somewhere. I can’t contact anyone. I forget...I really forget everything." The old man’s face turned sad as he took a deep sigh.
Rose’s heart sank when she realized this old man had Alzheimer’s. How could she help if this old man had no memories of who he could contact?
"Grandpa, it’s okay. Later, when Grandpa feels better, I’ll take Grandpa to the nearest police station. I hope Grandpa’s family will look for you there..." This is her best way to help him. If she knows where his hotel is, she will bring him there.
"You are such a nice person, little girl... thank you." The old man continued to finish his breath.
"Grandpa, everyone will do what I did if they see you in pain. I just happen to be nearby...." Rose smiles.
"Are you from this city?"
"I’m not. I’m here because of my company business. I’m from East city, but I’m currently living in the capital." For some reason, Rose felt comfortable talking to this old man. She felt like she was talking to her grandfather. It made her happy.
"You look so young, but you already have company? I’m impressed with you, little girl.."
Rose became embarrassed because she talked too much to him, "Well, grandpa, my company is still small... not to be proud of. Not yet."
"You should be proud of yourself, little girl. Even though your company is small, it results from your efforts. I rarely see a young girl like you in my circle. A young lady like you is busy wasting their parent’s money...." The old man shook his head slightly.
Rose was surprised to hear his words. "Grandpa, you remember? Hurry, tell me the phone number of your family. Let me help you to call them...."
"Huh!? What? What numbers?"
Instantly Rose went limp again. Apparently, this old man only remembers part of his memories. It seems that his Alzheimer’s is quite severe. She became annoyed with this old man’s family, who let him wander around alone without a companion. If she had the opportunity to meet his family, she would remind them to ensure he wears a bracelet with information on it. The information about a number that everyone who found him could call if needed.
"Nothing! Grandpa, can you walk now?"
"I don’t think so. Look... my knee is still shaking." Rose saw his knee slightly shake. It’s not the right time to bring him to the restaurant. She will wait with him for a while until Oliver and Sam are finished.
Earlier, when she goes to the minimart, she already tells Sam that she’s in the park. And Sam also informs her that bastard Bo Harrison finally agrees with their request, but they still need more time. It felt right. In an hour, this old man could walk, and she would ask him to have an early lunch before bringing him to the police station.
"You look in a hurry, little girl?" The Old man was worried when he saw this little girl looking at her watch several times. "You may go. I can wait here. And thank you so much for your help. Little girl, give me your number. I will transfer the money you spent on this meal." He smiled.
"N-No, grandpa. No need. It’s not much..." Rose immediately refused. How could she ask this old man to return her money? She continued, "I still have a few minutes to accompany you. Do not worry...."
The old man nodded slowly, pleased to be able to spend more time with this kind and beautiful girl.
"Tell me about yourself, little girl...." The old man suddenly wanted to know more about her. And when his eyes look at the beautiful ring on her finger, he smiles. "Did you have a husband?"
Rose smiled, looking at her ring. The ring she wears is so flashy that everyone who sees it can guess immediately. Like Oliver this morning, he immediately knew she was engaged to Evan.
"Well, we are not married yet. But my fiance has already proposed to me...." She answered him shyly.
"Your fiance must be a handsome man. There’s no way a girl as beautiful and smart as you would accept an ordinary man, right?"
Chapter 149: Lost (2)
Rose can’t help but smile when she imagines Evan’s face. Indeed her beloved man is handsome. Not only is he gorgeous, but he is also a genius.
"Well, Grandpa, yes, my fiancee is the most handsome man I have ever met in my entire life...." Rose can’t help but brag about Evan to this Old man she just met.
Unbelievable how she could be too casual talking with strangers. Rose couldn’t help but astonish.
Rose continued, "And my fiance is also the smartest person I have ever met. He was always in first place in our faculty when we were in college. I never beat him. Even so, I’m still happy because I always come second after him. And I’m fortunate to have him as my fiance...."
"Little girl, he is the one who is so lucky to have you." The old man corrected Rose. He paused. How could he not ask her name yet!? "Uhm... Little girl, I’m sorry, but can this old man know your name?"
Rose was stunned. They had already talked for a few minutes, but they forgot to introduce themself!? She can’t believe how natural they are to each other.
"Rose Wilson. Grandpa, did you remember your name?"
"If I’m not mistaken, my name is Arthur, but I don’t remember my last name..." He deeply sighed as he drank his last bottle of soda pop.
Arthur looked at Rose again with his proud-looking eyes, "Your name is Rose? Like the flower? Wow, your name is beautiful...."
In her primary school, Rose did not like her name. Her name always attracts the attention of people around her. She was often ridiculed by her male friends because of her name. When she was a teenager, she finally asked her mother. Why did she name her only daughter ROSE? At the time, her mother’s answer made her realize that her name was not just a name but something related to her late father.
Since then, Rose has never been bothered by her name anymore. If anyone bothered her because of her name, she would ignore them.
She focused on studying harder so that her academic achievements would silence all those who mocked her. And it turns out that her way of muting people worked. She became an outstanding student in her school.
Many other students take her as a role model. In fact, she is also the teacher’s favorite student because she often makes the school proud in the inter-school competition held in East City. In the end, people who constantly vilify her name are entirely silent, feeling humiliated.
Thinking of her name leaves a lot of memories, "My mom gave me that name, she said; Rose is the last thing she remembers about my late father. That’s why she named me Rose."
Even though Rose tried not to be sad, without realizing her face turned slightly red, remembering her father she had never seen. She never even knew her father’s name. One of the biggest mysteries in her mind that has not been solved until now is her father. Who is he?
"I’m sorry little girl if I made you remember something that made you sad...."
Rose raised her head, looking at the old man after a short silence, trying to calm her heart. "Grandpa, I’m fine..." She tried to smile so as not to make this old man feel sad too.
For some reason, her heart suddenly became melancholy, remembering her past again. When she was little, she sometimes felt sad that she had no father. Especially when she saw her friends’ fathers who could come to school to accompany them, but as she grew older, she didn’t feel like that anymore.
Rose had accepted her fate of growing up without a father like everyone else. Now, she’s fine. It was just that when she remembered the meaning of her name, her emotions were triggered, making her sad.
"If only I had a grandson, I would make sure he met and dated with you. Then, I will approve of you immediately if he brings you as his future wife...."
Rose immediately looked at the Old man in surprise.
Did he remember his family?
"Grandpa, you have a grandson?"
"No. No. I don’t know if I have a grandson. Now, I was just imagining if I had one...."
Instantly, Rose’s joy disappeared again. She felt terrible for grandpa Arthur. His family must have started panicking by now and looking for him. They have already talked here for almost an hour now, and this old man must have been lost a few hours before they met. Hopefully, grandpa’s family is still around so he can meet his family soon.
"So how? Will you date my grandson if I have one?"
Rose smiled, hearing his question, "I’m sorry, Grandpa, I can’t accept any other man besides my fiance. I am deeply in love with him...."
How could she love someone other than Evan? No. In this life, she has promised to only love Evan. No other man can replace him in her heart. Even if one day Evan betrays her, it’s okay. She will just leave and bury her heart. She will never cling to him, but she will never again start to love any man.
"What a lovely lady you are. Your fiance and his family must be happy to have you in their family."
Suddenly Rose fell silent hearing Grandpa Arthur’s words. She hoped Evan’s parents would be happy with her as Evan’s wife. But, in reality, Evan’s father didn’t like her mainly because of her family status.
Arthur was surprised to see how gloomy Rose was now. Has she never met her fiancé’s parents?
"Why do you look sad? You haven’t met them yet?"
Rose smiled, looking into the old man’s eyes, "I’ve met his mother. And she likes me so much. But, it seems my fiance’s father disapproves of our relationship...." Rose halted her words. She can’t say this to strangers. This is Evan’s family problem. Somehow, she felt angry at herself for talking too much about her love life to Grandpa Arthur. Gosh!
"Don’t worry, Rose, if you meet your future father-in-law one day, he will like you... How could someone so stupid not accept a beautiful, kind, smart lady like you? Whoever does that is a foolish man!"
Rose almost choked hearing Grandpa Arthur curse Evan’s father. If this old man knows who her future father-in-law is, maybe his law sugar will strike again.
Chapter 150: Remembered
Rose just smiles as she nods and agrees to Grandpa Arthur’s words.
"I hope so, grandpa! I hope so!"
Although she will follow what Evan says, they marry without his father’s blessing. But, deep down in her heart, she wants Evan’s father to accept her. She had never felt what it was like to have a father; if Evan’s father could be her father, she would be thrilled.
"You said earlier, you now stay at the Capital, right? I hope we have the opportunity to meet again, Little Rose. I will invite you to eat in a nice place to repay your kindness." Arthur already likes this girl. He really wanted to have a granddaughter-in-law like Rose. This little girl is different from most of the little missy she knows.
"Hahaha, Grandpa, no need to repay me. But, if you want to treat me to a meal at a good restaurant, I won’t refuse. I like to eat delicious food...." Rose didn’t refuse Grandpa Arthur’s offer.
She had no grandfather and no family at Grandpa Arthur’s age. Getting to know him now it’s like having a new family member. She wouldn’t refuse to be friends with him. After all, even though Grandpa Arthur has Alzheimer’s, he looks kind and gentle. She likes him.
"Little girl, let me borrow your phone...."
Rose, who had just hung up on Sam, was shocked when she heard Grandpa Arthur’s words. She immediately gave her phone to him as she looked closely at what he was doing.
"Grandpa Arthur must be remembering his family now, right!?" She talks to herself when she sees him dial a number.
When she hears Grandpa talk to someone else on the phone. She was so happy. Finally, this old man remembered who he was.
She hears Grandpa ask someone to pick him up. It made her feel relieved. Finally, she doesn’t need to take him to the police station. It would be regrettable if she had to leave Grandpa at the police station.
"Grandpa, do you remember your family now?" Rose smiles as she accepts her phone back.
"Yes! Thank you, I managed to remember now... Someone will pick me up. Before we go apart, I want to thank you, Little Rose. You have helped me and even spent precious time with me, even though you don’t know me. And if we have time, let’s meet again..." Arthur smiled as he stood from the bench. At the same time, a vast tall man in a black suit is approaching them.
Rose also stood and tried to take a closer look at the man. The man looked neat in his black suit with short hair. His posture is like an active soldier. At a glance, Rose can tell this man is a bodyguard. But, she is also afraid this man is an ill-intent person who would harm Grandpa Arthur. Before the man in a black suit arrived, Rose immediately asked Grandpa Arthur again.
"Grandpa, are you sure you know this man? Is he your relative?" To know Grandpa Arthur had a bodyguard makes Rose slightly surprised.
Arthur smiled, seeing Rose suspicious of the man who picked him up, "Yes, sure. I know him. But he is not my relative or sort of. Much better than that. He is my driver...." Arthur whispers to Rose while he chuckles.
He also tells Rose that the number he dialed from her phone is his personal number. So later, if she returns to the Capital, he asks her to contact him. He will invite her to eat at a nice restaurant.
Rose could only agree.
A few seconds later, Rose still just stood in her place. Seeing Grandpa Arthur’s back getting further away and into one of the black cars not far from where she was standing.
Grandpa Arthur is indeed not just an ordinary old man. How could he have a bodyguard and ride in an expensive car!? Who is he for real?
Rose frowned as she turned around. She ran back to the building. Earlier, Sam informed her that they had already got what they needed.
"Boss! Why did you take so long to come back?" Oliver asked, sulky.
Rose ran after Oliver standing beside the car with his hand on his hips.
"Oliver, congratulations. You strike that old fat man Bo Harrison." Rose ignored Oliver’s question. She gave him a high five, which Oliver reluctantly accepted. "I’m envious of you guys... because I couldn’t see how you made him K.O!"
"Lady Boss, if it wasn’t for Oliver holding me down, I might have broken that pervert’s leg..." Sam, already sitting in the driver’s seat, suddenly joined in their conversation.
"Yeah! Sam almost cripples that man. Anyway, everything is solved now. I can give you the CCTV footage later...."
"Really!? Please send it to me. I really wanted to see his expression. How is he now? Did he suddenly have a heart attack?"
"Hahaha, it’s not that extreme. But, enough to enslave that corrupt pervert till the rest of his life." Oliver then opens the car door for Rose. "Let’s go! We should hurry to submit our document to city hall."
****
Meanwhile, in a black Maybach slowly cruising, Old Man Arthur looks at Rose as her car leaves the garden.
The corners of his lips slightly lifted into a happy smile. This little girl Rose really makes him happy. He immediately really approves of her being her granddaughter-in-law.
Then Arthur turned his gaze to the young man beside him, who was still busy behind his laptop. With a slight chuckle, he said, "Grandson, did you want to know what was in my mind right now?" His voice sounded so happy.
The young man lifted his head slowly as he looked at Arthur calmly. "Do you want me to guess?" His voice and face didn’t show that he was interested in guessing whatever was in Arthur’s mind at the moment. This old man had suddenly wasted his precious time by coming to this town.
Arthur could only shake his head as he took a deep sigh. His grandson is really something. How could he not be interested?
