Chapter 21: Worried

Rose’s mind was already filled with various ideas that would make Flash grow faster and change the lifestyle of the people of this country. All of these ideas she got from the development of Flash in her previous life.

Soon, Rose emailed Steve Adkins. She told him about her interest in investing in Flash. And asks him to call her if he’s interested.

After contacting Steve Adkins, she continued her plan to reach her second target. A property company in Vale City. This small company name, Rapid Realty, is currently filing for bankruptcy in court.

In her previous life, she remembers that after this company’s bankruptcy, a local businessman bought this company at a meager price. And not long after, the news about Rapid Realty shook the whole country. Because, on one of the lands of this company found a source of the precious metal, gold.

The local businessman who bought the company instantly became a crazy rich man in the country. Many big companies offered a fantastic price to buy Rapid Realty, even mining companies from abroad were interested in investing in this company.

Now, she knows everything about this company. She will try her best to buy Rapid Realty. Whatever happens, she has to acquire it.

But now, she has a problem! She doesn’t have money.

Rose could only take a deep sigh while browsing and collecting some data about the companies that would be her following targets.

After a while, Rose and Evan didn’t notice that the sun was starting to set outside.

Evan finished reading Rose’s thesis. After sending all the files to Rose’s email, he gave some notes that needed to be fixed. Evan closed his laptop and placed it on the coffee table. When he saw his watch, he was stunned. They were in the room so long that they forgot soon it would be dinner time.

He saw Rose was still sitting at his desk with her eyes focused on the computer screen. He enjoyed it in silence for a while, looking at her beautiful calm face. After a few minutes, he smiled when he saw Rose raise her hands up and do some stretching. She looked tired, making him worry that Rose was tired.

"Are you done?" Evan stood up and walked over to her. Rose is surprised to see Evan. "You are so serious. What are you looking for?" He continued his words as he stood beside her, glancing at the computer screen, which had turned black.

"Try to find a company that I want to invest in...."

"Really!? Looks like you move fast with your plan...." He rubs her hair gently.

"Yeah! But right now, I’m still doing research and collecting data. I will wait until I gain some capital from the stock market and start investing in them."

Rose was still worried about her money entering the stock market. She only has $50,000 at the moment, while if she wants to buy Rapid Realty and Invest at Flash, she needs at least $1,000,000 to gain double from stock trading.

She is still confused between borrowing her mother’s money or slowing down raising funds in the stock market and investing in Flash first. But The Rapid Realty is very tempting. She can’t lose that good land.

"I will make sure your trading account will start active on Monday, so you can start. But, you know the risk, right? You should study first before putting your money in the stock market...."

Evan took her hand and led her outside the study room. He will start to cook for her.

"Rose, for beginning, would you like me to guide you?"

Rose chuckled in her heart, hearing Evan’s words. Without Evan’s help, she knows where the market will go. And in her previous life, she had mastered everything because she had learned from Evan and others.

But, if she refuses Evan’s offer, he will suspect her, right?

How could she make a lot of money from trading without ever learning? And a qualified mentor? Because in the stock market, there is no such thing as beginner’s luck, but all of them have the knowledge and know-how to read the market mover.

She didn’t have any choice. She could only agree to Evan’s offer.

Evan feels happy, and he immediately asks Rose to wait for him to cook for them.

"Evan, let me help you...."

"Rose, you don’t need to do that. I know you never enter the kitchen...." He smiled as he remembered when Molly told him about Rose, who can’t cook.

Rose was dumbfounded.

"How do you know?" She narrowed her eyes, looking at Evan. "Gosh! Did my mother tell you? Damn... my mother has betrayed me. How can she expose her own daughter’s flaws?"

Evan laughs, hearing his girl sulk.

"Evan, do you still like me even though I can’t cook?" She can’t cook right now and never goes into the kitchen. But in her previous life, she had no choice but to cook for Dustin once they married. Now, of course, she can cook. She’s quite an expert.

Evan stops cutting the ingredient and looks at Rose. His loving eyes make Rose flutter.

"My Beautiful girlfriend, I don’t mind even if you can’t cook. And you must remember, you are not allowed to enter the kitchen until the rest of your life...."

Rose blushed with Evan’s flattering words. She hid her face looking at her cell phone while seated on the island. In her mind, Rose is questioning whether to leave Evan to cook by himself or accompany him to cook dinner.

Soon their dinner is ready.

They eat in a hurry because the movie they will watch is in an hour. But before going to the cinema, suddenly a guest came to Evan’s apartment.

Rose was shocked and worried at the same time.

Did Evan’s parents suddenly visit him?

Chapter 22: Marvin Sanders

"Evan, are you waiting for someone?" Rose, who had just come out of the powder room, was startled by the bell ringing sound. She looked at Evan, who was sitting on the sofa.

"Yes. Sorry, Rose... we have to delay 15 minutes." He stood and approached her. "You can wait a bit while watching the news...."

"Sure, no problem. We still have an hour...."

Rose took a deep sigh when she saw Evan’s back disappear from her sight toward the door. She sat on the couch while trying to relax her worried mind.

What if Evan’s parents came?

She is not ready to meet Evan’s parents. Not yet.

Rose was aware that Evan’s parents would definitely not accept her. She is only a child of a single mother. She didn’t even know who her father was. Even though they belong to middle and upper-class families financially, the gap between her and Evan is like earth and sky.

She needs more time equally standing by his side before his family knows about her. Their relationship should be kept secret until she has something she can be proud of, like her own business empire.

Still deep in thought, Rose didn’t realize that Evan was standing behind her.

"Rose..."

Rose turned back to look behind, surprised because Evan was already standing behind her. And, she saw a familiar figure of a man with ginger hair, standing not far from Evan. He looked neat in his black suit. The man looked at her in shock.

Rose was taken aback by his sharp gaze. She knew that man from her past life. He often appeared in business news and business magazines. He was Marvin Sanders, CEO of Dream Inc.

Why did he suddenly appear here? Didn’t he manage Evan’s company in the capital?

She feels utterly confused now. Because all she knew was Evan only had one company, Starlight Investment. And as she knows, it has nothing to do with Dream Inc.

"Rose, this is Marvin Sanders. He is CEO of Dream Inc..." Evan casually places his hand on her shoulder and looks at Marvin. He couldn’t hide his displeased face, but he managed to stay polite when speaking. "Marvin, this is Rose Wilson. My girlfriend..." Evan continued his words.

Marvin, who was already curious about the woman at his boss’ house, was shocked to hear the woman’s name.

Is she Rose Wilson? WOW! Finally, he could see her in person after so many years. He only heard her name when Evan was rambling about his dream girl.

"Hello, Ms. Wilson. It is nice to meet you...." Marvin reached out his hand for a handshake. But his hand was immediately pushed aside by Evan.

"No need to shake hands...." Evan pulled Rose into her arms.

Rose, surprised at how casually Evan and Marvin were to each other, was suddenly speechless when Evan pushed Marvin’s hand away. She felt her cheeks warm at how protective Evan was of her. She could only smile at Marvin.

"Mr. Sanders, it’s nice to meet you too. Uhm, you can call my name Rose...."

Marvin was surprised to hear Rose’s euphonious voice. But later, he can feel someone wanting to punch him when Rose asks him to casually call her name. He immediately stole a glance at his boss for permission.

"Ms. Wilson, I’m sorry I can’t call you like that....’’ Marvin instantly felt shrink when he saw his boss’ irked expression not change. "But, please just call me Marvin...." He realized that this woman must have a special place in his boss’s heart. He must not be reckless with her, or he could lose his job.

Rose is confused by Marvin, who is a big boss in a big company, too afraid of Evan.

Are they friends?

But, she had never heard of these two being friends. Their ages are different. Marvin’s age is 4 years older than Evan’s, if she remembers correctly.

She glances at Evan wanting to ask him, but she is surprised, now looking at Evan’s expression. His eyes are looking straight at Marvin, and his face looks annoyed.

"Evan..."

Evan looks at Rose beside him. He smiles lovingly at her before he replies, "Rose, you call him Marvin...And, could you wait for me for a while? I need to talk to him in my office?"

Seeing this icy prince smile so wide like this, Marvin almost choked. He couldn’t believe what he had just seen, so he thought this was an important event and needed to be captured. Unfortunately, his boss’ rare smile was gone before he managed to retrieve his cellphone.

"Uhm...yes... I will wait here." Rose blushed as Evan ruffled her hair and left her to his study with Marvin.

Inside Evan’s office,

"Can you see what time it is? I asked you to come two hours ago. Why did you just show up?" Evan scolds Marvin as soon as they sit on the couch, facing each other. He felt annoyed. Marvin was late and delayed him, from going to the cinema with his girl.

Marvin feels tense looking at his angry boss.

"B-Boss, when you called me, I was in Vale City. I immediately flew here, but you know I can’t arrive instantly, right? Maybe someday, when I invent a teleportation device, I could and would. Hahahaha."

Suddenly, this noon, he got a short message from his boss asking him to come to East City immediately. His boss rarely summoned him like this, and usually, if he asked, it meant there was something critical that needed to be discussed.

He could not appear immediately, because the trip by plane took two hours to arrive at this city. Now he wishes he has teleport ability or cloning ability so that the boss doesn’t have to be angry like this.

"Did you do what I asked you?"

"I did, boss. I’ve also asked the interior designer to renovate the unit next to your apartments...."

He has been so confused since receiving a text message from his boss. He’s asking him to renovate the unit in front of his apartment, with an interior design for women. But now he understood his boss’s request. Of course, the apartment is for Miss Wilson.

Evan nodded, satisfied with Marvin’s explanation.

"How about my other requests?"

"I have done everything according to your request!" Evan’s last task left Marvin confused and curious about Dustin Moses’ identity.

Chapter 23: First Date (1)

Evan happily nodded when he heard Marvin’s report progress.

As for Marvin, he could only silently take a deep breath. Actually, it’s not his job to take care of his Boss’s personal matters, but somehow his Boss likes to keep him busy with trivial things like this. Even though his Boss has several personal assistants who can do small things like this.

"Marvin, for now, no one will know my woman identity or privacy, including my family. So you better keep that way... don’t let them know." Marvin was stunned, looking at his Boss.

"Boss, why? Are you not serious with her?" After he said these words, he immediately felt regret. It felt like he wanted to slap his mouth for asking such a question.

Slowly Marvin turned his gaze elsewhere when his Boss narrowed his eyes, looking at him as if he wanted to beat him with his sharp eyes.

"Watch your words, Marvin! Rose Wilson will be my wife soon. Respect her as you respect me!"

Evan’s icy voice could make the study room feel like they were in the North Pole. Marvin could only nod. Now he clearly understands the status of Ms. Rose Wilson in the eyes of his Boss.

"Boss... I’m sorry. I will take care of everything. Lady Boss’ identity remains safe."

Evan’s lips curled up into a faint smile when he heard Marvin call Rose, Lady Boss. He likes it!

"Hmm... you should do that! Well, it’s not that I want to hide her from anyone, but it’s not time for her to show up yet. Worried that some people would hurt her. I don’t want that to happen!"

"Yes, Boss! I will follow your instructions. Is there anything else you want to order?" Marvin felt that his sudden summons to this city wasn’t just about apartment renovations, right?

There must be something more important than that! After all, he’s a CEO. Can’t he just be told to do trivial things that his Boss’s personal assistant can do?

Evan did not answer Marvin right away. He walked to his desk and took a brown envelope.

"Process this document. Make sure it can be completed tomorrow..."

Marvin immediately stood up and took the brown envelope from his Boss.

"After you finish with that file, you may go back to the Capital. I will call you again if I need anything else...Thank you for coming, and you can go now." Evan walks to the window and looks at the road below.

Before Marvin left the study room, suddenly, he remembered their plan to acquire a construction company.

"Boss, how about 101 Construction?" Marvin was looking at Evan, standing by the window with his back facing him.

"Continue with the process!" Evan answers Marvin without looking at him. His eyes were looking at the street in front of the apartment. The road still looked crowded. He can’t wait to date his girl.

Without him knowing it, a smile appeared on his face. He quickly turned around to meet Rose in the living room, but he was surprised to see Marvin still standing at the door, looking at him.

"What are you doing!? You can go now!" Evan’s voice sounded unfriendly. Making Marvin immediately leave the room after he said goodbye.

After Marvin left the study room, he could see Lady Boss was watching TV. Slowly he approached her.

"Lady Boss..."

Rose was surprised to hear Marvin’s voice from behind. She stood and looked back and felt weird hearing now Marvin addressed her with ’Lady Boss?’.

What happened in Evan’s office?

Why suddenly did the CEO of Dream Inc call her like that?

She was puzzled.

"Lady Boss, I have to go now... If Lady Boss needs anything at the Capital, you can call me anytime." Marvin gives Rose his name card. After that, he immediately left the apartment. He didn’t want to linger there. Worried that the Boss’s mood will get worse.

After Marvin left, Rose was still standing, holding the business card in her hand in bewilderment. She hadn’t even said a word, yet Marvin had already disappeared from her sight. She feels weird.

Was Even that scary in the eyes of his friend?

No. Evan is the sweetest and kindest man she knows. Since getting to know him a few years ago, not once had she seen him angry. He was always friendly and kind to her. Of course, he must be like that to his friends, employees, and family, right?

"Is there something wrong, Rose? Why are you standing there?" Evan walked over to Rose with a confused look at the girl standing in her place, motionless. In her hand, she was holding something. He stepped closer and saw Marvin’s business card in her hand. His brow raised slightly.

Rose slowly raises her head and looks at Evan standing before her. She smiles at him before she replies, "Evan, Marvin gave me this name card. He said if I come to the Capital and need anything, I can call him...." Rose was surprised when she saw Evan’s displeased look.

"Throw his name card. You don’t have to call him. Just call me if you need anything!" Evan took Marvin’s name card from Rose and threw it in the trash bin near the kitchen. "Rose, We should go now, or we’ll be late for the movie." Marvin continues his words.

Rose immediately took her bag on the sofa and walked towards the door, following Evan. She felt excited because this would be their first date, and she was looking forward to it.

When they entered the elevator, her heart beat faster when Evan’s big hand took her hand and entangled their fingers. She can feel how warm his hand is, making her blush.

They decided to walk to Central Plaza. Because the distance is only a few blocks away from Evan’s apartment.

That night the streets were still busy. Rose couldn’t help but feel a warm feeling walking side-by-side with Evan all the way to the central plaza.

"Tell me if you’re tired. I will take the car...." Evan glanced at Rose by his side while his hand still tightly gripped her tiny hand.

"I’m not tired, Evan. I need to walk a lot to burn fat. I ate so much today, worried that I would gain weight...."

"I don’t mind, Rose."

Rose was confused by his words.

"What do you mean, Evan?"

Chapter 24: First Date (2)

They stopped right near the traffic light.

Evan turns to face Rose. When their eyes meet, he smiles lovingly at her before saying,

"I don’t mind if you get fat...I love you not because of your looks or your body shape. But I love you for who you are. I will love you unconditionally as long as you stay beside me!"

Rose was mesmerized by Evan’s sparkling-looking eyes. For the umpteenth time, she was immersed in his charm. And his sweet words made her heart flutter. She has always known Evan is a genius in studies and business. Rose never sees Evan as a genius at swaying women’s hearts. But he does. She is entirely in a daze, looking at him.

The more she heard his sweet words, the more she started to feel worried about herself.

Was it too soon for her to fall for this man?

"My Dear Rose! You should blink now, or your eyes will sting...." Evan smiled as his girl stared at him without blinking.

Did this girl flatter with his words? He thought.

Rose turned her gaze in another direction. Gosh! This man could be dangerous to any woman. He could enchant her to the point where she forgot to blink. Is he a God?

"Let’s go!" Evan slowly pulled Rose across the street.

Soon they arrive at the cinema.

But when they wanted to buy tickets, they were both confused about which movie to watch.

"What do you want to watch?" Evan glanced at Rose beside him.

Rose thought hard when she saw there were four movies currently showing. Three Romance movies and one zombie movie.

Rose was confused. She really hates zombie movies. But how could she suggest watching romance movies with Evan? They will definitely be awkward when the romance scene appears, right?

The only choice is zombie movies. Even though she didn’t like it, this was better than romance.

She looked at Evan, who was still looking at her, "Evan, we better watch this zombie movie...."

"Wow! I wouldn’t ever guess you like this kind of movie." Evan was surprised to know that. He thought Rose would choose a romance movie.

"Well, yeah...now you know." She lies while showing her neat beautiful teeth to convince Evan.

"We have the same hobby, Rose. I love zombie movies too...."

Rose gulps while scolding herself for lying to Evan.

Evan continued. "Alright! I will buy the ticket now. You wait for me here...."

Rose took a deep sigh when Evan went to buy their movie ticket. While waiting for Evan, she purchases some snacks for the movie.

At the same time, in the cinema corner, several pairs of eyes stared at Rose and Evan with shock-looking eyes.

"G-Guys, did you guys see what I saw?" One of the girls whispered to her friends.

"Yeah! Evan Collins movie date with Rose Wilson? What the hell is it?"

"OMG! What the hell is going on here? Isn’t Rose Wilson Dustin Moses’ girlfriend?"

"I know, right! That’s why I can’t believe what I see!"

"Hurry, take a picture of them. We should publish the pair’s photo on our campus forum! This slut, Rose Wilson, must be taught a lesson. How can she cheat on Dustin Moses? And stole our prince Evan Collins..."

"I have! Should I post it now?"

"Yes!"

"Wait! Don’t post using your ID. Use an anonymous user...or you will be in trouble if you are caught spreading Evan’s photo. You know he is our professor’s favorite student, right.."

"Hahaha, Of course, I know..."

The girls chatted as they watched Rose and Evan enter the studio hand in hand. And they capture all of that with videos and photos.

Meanwhile, in the cinema,

Evan made sure Rose was comfortably sitting before he sat down beside her. He saw that Rose was wearing only a short-sleeved shirt and a calf-high jeans skirt.

"You’re wearing a thin shirt, Rose..." Evan took off his jacket and gave it to her. "Use this..."

Rose was stunned. She looked at Evan while receiving the black bomber jacket.

"Evan, how about you!? Are you getting cold without your jacket?" Rose was worried that Evan would feel cold because he was only wearing a white, short-sleeved shirt.

"If so, I will just hug you..." Evan smiled when he saw Rose glare at him. "Why do you look annoyed? You don’t want me to hug you?

"I’m not annoyed, Evan. But we’re in a public place. What if a college friend sees us?" Rose looked at Evan. She was surprised when she saw Evan’s face turn gloomy. Realizing that her words made Evan sad, she held Evan’s hand.

"I mean, I’m not used to showing romance in public, Evan. Please don’t be angry?" Rose tilted her head slightly to see Evan’s face more clearly.

"I thought you don’t want others to know about our relationship, Rose. That’s why I feel a little bit sad..." Evan feels relieved to hear Rose’s words. He wanted his college friends to know that Rose was his lover.

Rose smiled shyly.

"Alright, let’s focus on the movie... and if you’re afraid, you can hide your face on my shoulder." Evan can tell from Rose’s gesture that she doesn’t like this zombie movie. She had been avoiding looking at the screen ever since. "And, next time, don’t choose the movie you don’t like, Rose." Evan continues his words.

Instantly Rose was stunned. How could he know?

Rose glances at Evan with her awkward smile as she gets caught not liking this kind of movie. She really hates Zombie movies. Seeing the walking undead with ghastly pale faces could make her dream about them. Now she regrets her decision.

"Evan, I thought I would close my eyes until this movie was over..." She grinned. "Would you mind if I closed my eyes for the entire movie?"

"Hahaha, just do it. Or do you want us to go out and change the movie?"

"No need. I know you like this kind of movie even though I know I’m a scaredy-cat... but I feel safe watching it with you. So let’s just watch it. If that ugly zombie appears, I will just close my eyes and hold your hand tight." Said Rose jokingly.

But in her mind, Rose was thankful that the movie theater was dark, so Evan couldn’t see that her cheeks were now flushed red; she imagined they probably would kiss if they watched romance movies.
