Chapter 31: Jealous

As Rose sat on the sofa, she was mesmerized by the view outside. She can see a river that divides the city between the business district and the district where her campus and her homes are located.

It was rare for her to come to this business district during her stay in this city. And this is the first time she sees this city from a tall building. The view is so stunning. She wanted to see how it looked from up here at night.

"What do you want to drink, Rose?" Suddenly Evan asks her.

Rose immediately looks at Evan. He was sitting on a single sofa. He looks handsome, even though he only wears his gray slim fit shirt and black trousers. His charisma was no joke. Her fragile heart beat faster, and her hungry eyes could not turn away from his deep blue eyes.

"H-Hot coffee. Thank you, Evan...." She needs caffeine to make her focus so as not to be lulled by his charm. Gosh Rose!!

Evan took a landline phone from the side table. He gave orders to someone.

"Evan, I like your office. What else is the scenery out there..." Rose said after seeing Evan hang up the phone.

"Well, I rarely come to this office, don’t have much time. I mostly work from my home office...." Apart from that, he is more comfortable working in his quiet home. He is also too lazy to spend 30 minutes driving to the business street. What more if he has to come here during rush hour, the traffic is hefty. He didn’t like it.

"I thought you came here every day..."

Rose suddenly remembered. Earlier she saw a pretty secretary with bobbed hair outside. When she first saw the woman, she felt a weird feeling; Scared, insecure about losing something. That woman looked like a threat in her eyes.

"The location of this office is quite far from my house. I don’t like to waste my time coming here when I can do my work from home..." Evan smiles, looking at her before he continues. "But, I thought from now on, I will work from here because my pretty girlfriend will accompany me...."

Rose chuckled when she saw his alluring-looking smile.

"Evan! I never said that. I just complimented that your office was nice! That’s it!" When Rose saw him laughing, she continued, "But, if you want me to come here, that’s not a bad idea either. I love it...."

Evan’s eyes beamed, looking at her. He was so happy to hear what his girlfriend said.

"I forgot... I have something for you, Rose!" Evan stood from his seat and walked toward his desk.

At the same time, the female secretary came in carrying a tray with two white cups and cake on it.

Rose had an awkward feeling, not knowing which way to look when she realized this female secretary was wearing such a tight outfit. The dress was so tight that it seemed she wanted to flirt with her body with anyone who saw her.

But in Rose’s eyes, she looks like a slut. How could this kind of woman work in this place?

She could guess that this woman was purposely dressed like this to attract Evan’s attention. She was confused about what to do. Did she just let it go or do something?

Once again, she silently stole a glance at the woman.

Her black skirt is too tight. She can see her curves clearly. Her skirt length is just above her knee, and a few inches are split in her right thigh. Her pale blue shirt is also too tight as if to tell everyone her bra size.

Suddenly her chest tightens when memories of Dustin cheating on her in her past life rise in her mind.

And then her mind filled with stupid questions...

Why did Evan have such a seductive female secretary in his office?

Was Evan the same as Dustin?

Why does Evan keep this sexy secretary by his side?

What is their real relationship?

Rose was stunned.

Indeed! Her mind and heart could prove that she was jealous of this woman.

She tries to avoid looking at the sexy female secretary. But her heart started to feel uneasy when she saw the woman approaching Evan, who was still looking for something at his desk.

She couldn’t help but steal a glance.

However, she really regretted looking in Evan’s desk direction. Because she could clearly see that the woman was trying to flirt with Evan.

Without realizing it, her hands clenched into fists in anger.

Trying to distract herself, Rose opened her laptop. She opened her thesis, which Evan had corrected. But after reading a few lines, her mind, once again, was distracted by her peculiar thoughts. What if, in this life, Evan is cheating on her?

"What are you doing?"

Rose is surprised when she hears Evan’s voice.

She quickly turned to look. She was utterly shocked that Evan’s face was next to her while his eyes stared at the computer screen on her lap. His face was so close to hers that her nose almost hit his cheek. Rose is motionless, too afraid to move or breathe.

Because if Evan moved to see her even for a bit, their lips would definitely meet.

Slowly Rose pulled her head away from him while trying to calm her chaotic heartbeat.

"E-Evan... is your business done?" Rose awkwardly asked when she saw Evan now standing straight. His hands are in his pocket. His eyes stared at her with a warm smile framing his god-like face.

Rose can’t help but feel betrayed by her heart. How could she fall for him this fast?

She quickly shifted her gaze elsewhere, and she realized only the two of them were in the room. The sexy secretary who made her feel jealous was nowhere to be seen.

She felt a little bit relieved. However, the worry of Evan cheating on her was still lingering in her deep mind.

 

Chapter 32: Last Warning

Evan’s smile looked at Rose’s blushing cheeks.

"Yes... it’s finished. What are you reading now? You look so serious..."

"I was reading my thesis. I want to thank you. Because of you, I got a lot of insight to add to my thesis. And I think I can finish editing today. So I can be more prepared to face the professors..." Rose answers while avoiding eye contact with him to hide her sour expression.

"You’re a genius, Rose! Don’t worry too much. You’ll definitely graduate with the best grades. But, I’m sorry, my dear, you will end up in second-place as usual ...." Evan’s last words make Rose roll her eyes. True! She will never beat him.

After making his girl smile widely, he sat beside her.

"Evan, earlier, you said you wanted to give me something?" Rose looked at him.

"Yes! This is for you...." Evan’s hand is holding a brown envelope, and then he hands it to Rose. When Rose took it, he continued saying. "That’s your trading account. You only need to sign the form, and my assistant will help finalize it. So, hurry up, sign it first...."

She quickly opened the envelope and looked at the documents. After reading it, she immediately signed and returned it to Evan.

"I already sent all this information in your email," Evan said and called someone.

A few minutes later.

Rose saw a man with a black glass frame that she had seen outside earlier enter the room.

"Rose, this is my personal assistant. His name is Gavin Riddle. He’s in charge of this office whenever I’m not here..." Evan explained. Then he looked at Gavin.

"Gavin, this Rose Wilson, your future lady boss. From now on, you must treat her as you treat me." Evan’s voice sounded calm, but Rose was shocked to hear that. Because Evan introduced her as the future lady boss? Instantly she wanted to hide her blushing face.

Gavin was shocked. It turns out this beautiful lady is his future lady boss? No wonder his Boss brought her here. This is the first time he ever saw his Boss close to a woman. Even with his own female employees, he never glanced with genuine interest at them.

"I will, boss!" Gavin said, then he looked at Rose. "Lady Boss, nice to meet you. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to contact me...." He slightly lowered her head to respect his boss’ woman.

"Take this document and finalize it now." Gavin immediately took the brown envelope from his Boss. Just before he wanted to leave the love birth, his body felt stiff when his Boss, with intimidating-looking eyes, stared at him.

He was confused. Did he make a mistake?

"Gavin, this is your last warning. If another woman enters this room again, I will transfer you to a branch office far away from where you like to be. Like my Alaska Anchorage office...."

Evan was really pissed off when one of the female finance staff appeared in his office. What’s more, the timing was terrible. It was right when his girlfriend was visiting.

"Bo-Boss... I’m really sorry. Ellen walked into your office without asking my permission, but that was my fault! I should have been more cautious." Gavin couldn’t dodge his boss’ tirade, even though he knew it was an empty threat since they didn’t have an office in the North Pole.

"Don’t you dare to think I won’t be able to open an office in the North Pole, Gavin! I will open the office right away to accommodate you. And you can stay there forever...." Evan’s sharp tone makes Gavin feel his whole body turn cold, like someone pouring a bucket of ice over his head.

Instantly, he really wanted to fire Ellen May. Earlier, while preparing coffee for his Boss, an incoming call distracted him. And that damn girl, without being asked to take the coffee. She casually takes a tray and brings the coffee to his Boss’s room.

"And, since when did your taste in choosing the employees be that low?" Too busy with campus affairs, he rarely comes to this office and doesn’t really pay attention to the development of his employees. He entrusts Gavin and Sam as his confidants to represent him, including approving employees who will work for this company.

Evan’s dart eyes are still locked on Gavin. He continued, "I don’t want to see women wearing provocative outfits in my company. If you have warned them twice, you may fire them if they still wear office clothes that show too much of their skin. I know it would be subjective, but I trust your fashion judgment, Gavin."

Evan deliberately scolded Gavin in front of Rose. So that her lover is not jealous anymore. Earlier, he could see that Rose looked jealous when she saw another woman come into his office and flirt with him.

He didn’t want any misunderstanding between them, especially when it came to women. He was never interested in other women, only her, who could make his heart shake like this.

Rose, who had been seriously reading her thesis, suddenly felt like there was a warm gust of wind inside her heart. The jealousy that bothered her slowly faded. Turns out, she misjudged Evan.

Now, she could only scold her negative thoughts for comparing Evan to that asshole Dustin. Not daring to raise her head to look at Evan and Gavin, Rose continues pretending to read her thesis. But she’s quietly smiling as she hears the conversation between Evan and Gavin.

"No worries, Boss! I will make an announcement soon." Gavin agrees with his boss’ words. That Ellen May does need to be taught a lesson. Lately, Ellen May’s clothes are getting bolder. And everyone in the office has noticed this and feels uncomfortable around her. But, what annoyed him even more, was that she had dared to enter the CEO’s office when his Boss’s future wife was inside.

Earlier, when Ellen entered his Boss’s office, he received a call. At that time, no one noticed her. Later on, when she came out and carried an empty tray in her hands, they realized that they were in big trouble.

His Boss scolds him and will send him to the North Pole if he makes another mistake. He could only curse Ellen May in his heart while making a plan to make the girl pay for her actions.

Chapter 33: Shocked

After Gavin left the room, Evan wrapped his arms around Rose’s slender waist and buried his head on her neck.

"Dear... don’t be jealous anymore, huh!?" Evan whispered while exhaling her flowery fragrance. He was so addicted to her soothing scent. Don’t want to let go of his arms and just want to hug her like now.

Rose was speechless. How could he know she was jealous?

She closed her laptop, placed it on the coffee table, and held Evan’s hand, still wrapped around her waist.

"E-Evan, is it obvious? How could you know?" She asks shyly.

"Hmm... I can see through your face. As if there’s a sign ’JEALOUS’ written on your forehead." He bites her shoulder gently and makes Rose feel ticklish. She’s squirming while giggling.

Evan releases his embrace. He smiled with satisfaction when he saw Rose’s face turning red. She looks so cute, especially her cherry lips, which make him want to kiss her. But the girl lowering her head makes him even more tempted to do it. To kiss her.

He took her hand on her thigh and then squeezed it gently before saying, "Rose, you can rest easy. Because, in this life, only you, the woman in my heart. I belong to you, and so do you. You belong to me. No one else will be able to separate us...." His voice was so charming that Rose was almost swayed by it.

This man is very good with words. She was impressed.

"Evan, do you know the best endocrinologist doctor in this country?" Rose wanted to laugh when she saw Evan’s panic-looking eyes.

"W-Why do you need that doctor, Rose? Are you feeling unwell?" Evan was worried to hear that his girl wanted to see an endocrinologist. Why!?

While pretending to look miserable, Rose tightened her grip on Evan’s hand before she said, "What should I do, Evan!?" She exhales deeply while slightly lowering her head to hide her cheeky smile. "M-Maybe I got diabetes from hearing your sweet words too much...."

Evan couldn’t help but laugh hearing her words. This girl almost made his heart stop. He placed his hand on her chin and forced her to look into his eyes. His gaze was like a warning to her; You want to play with me? Fine... I will follow you, my dear.

"You scare me to death, Rose! Now, are you ready to receive your punishment?"

Rose bit her inner lips, clueless about what Evan would do. But moments later, her eyes opened wider as she saw Evan’s face drawing close to her. So close that his fragrance hits her nostril. She could not do anything, only blinking several times while holding her breath.

It was too fast...

When his lips touched her lips. She was utterly shocked. But, she does nothing, just accepts it with her trembling heart.

Slowly she closed her eyes. She could feel Evan sucking on her lower lip so softly that her whole body stiffened. When his hand touched her neck, she wanted to wrap her arms around Evan’s neck and press her body to him. But her nerves forbid her. She could only part her lips slightly to allow Evan’s tongue to enter her. Her mind is chaotic, but she can feel a whole zoo party inside her. She hadn’t felt a kiss like this in a long time.

Their kiss this time was fast, but the feelings that lingered in her heart and mind will last long. Till now, her heart was still beating erratically. Her mind was still a mess. She hides her blushing face into Evan’s chest while smiling happily at their intimate moment.

She didn’t know how many times she had felt this kind of feeling overwhelm her heart. Has she started to like him?

"Did you like your punishment?" Rose heard Evan’s seductive voice on top of her head. She was fluttering again. Unable to reply to him, Rose could only nod. Of course, she liked kissing him. It felt magical for her. She was tempted.

Evan smiled in satisfaction as he gently stroked her dark blonde wavy hair. He kissed her head a few times before saying, "You want to receive your punishment again?"

Rose speechless.

How could she answer that kind of question? She could only keep her mouth shut, ignoring his question.

However, it seems that Rose’s silence was caught differently by Evan. Silence means YES! He smiles widely while letting go of his embrace. He grabbed her chin and drew his head closer to her. Slowly he kisses her again until she barely can’t breathe. He parts his lips, but his head is still closed to her. Their forehead is touching each other.

"I love you, Rose!"

Rose’s cheek turns blush again. She wanted to hide her face elsewhere, but Evan’s hand was still on her neck. She could only turn her gaze to his slightly red lips.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Rose immediately moved away from Evan. She wanted to sit straight, but Evan firmly held her slender waist and pulled her into his lap before she could do that.

Rose was shocked!

"Evan..." She whispered. But the man ignored her. She could only hide her face in his chest, too shy to see who had entered the room. She could only hear Gavin’s voice talk to Evan.

"Shit! I ruined my boss’ intimidated moment. I wish my boss would mercy me...." Gavin silently cursed himself when he saw Lady Boss sitting on his boss’s lap while her back was facing him. His boss looked straight at him, but his expression was hard to read. He doesn’t know whether his boss is angry or happy.

Slowly he approaches his boss.

"Boss, I’m sorry if I bothered you. I just wanted to say that the document you gave me earlier is finished."

Gavin gives him a file while praying to god that his boss doesn’t punish him.

What if he was sent to the North Pole!? Hell no!

Chapter 34: Lady Boss

To his surprise, God granted his prayer. His Boss just waved his hand, asking him to leave the room. Gavin turned back and walked fast out of the room in a hurry. He doesn’t want to disturb the Boss and the lady boss.

The moment he left the room, a big smile framed his face when he realized that now he has a tool to tame his icy blood boss if someday he was fuming. He just needs to call the lady boss to melt him.

"Gavin... Why are you smiling widely?" Sam Russell asks when he sees Gavin walking at his comfortable pace towards his table. He looked so happy. Previously, he was so gloomy because he had been scolded by the big Boss after letting Ellen May into the Boss’s office.

Does big Boss forgive Gavin? So fast?

This is interesting. Because the Boss usually takes a long time to melt after being annoyed. But, in just a few minutes, he had already forgiven him!? How could that be?

Gavin patted Sam’s shoulder before saying, "Sam! Our good times have finally come! Our savior finally appears...." Gavin sat at his table and started his pending task, ignoring Sam’s confused-looking eyes.

"Can you explain to me what happened inside? What savior?" Sam was standing in front of Gavin’s desk. Confused.

"Not really a savior, but she is our boss now...." Gavin laughed, imagining their scary Big Boss tamed by Lady boss. "Ms. Rose Wilson, the woman inside our big Boss room, is our lady boss. She is now our new master!"

Sam is dumbfounded to hear Gavin address Ms. Rose Wilson. New master?

Seeing Sam still looking confused, Gavin stopped typing. He looked at Sam as he relaxed his back in his chair.

"Ms. Rose Wilson is the only human I ever know who can tame our big icy boss...well, to make it simple for your mind, our boss is charmed by her beauty." When he saw Sam delight with his words, he continued, "That’s why I said before, our day will be easier now because we have a new savior."

"Now I understand!" Sam couldn’t contain his excitement. He smiled widely. Gavin is right. After years of working for Boss Evan, they don’t have much time for leisure because their Boss is such a workaholic. He has no working hours. Whenever and wherever he needs something, they have to provide what he needs.

They couldn’t protest because they had to follow when starting to work with him; they had to be flexible with their working hours. However, even though there are no fixed working hours, their salary is very high, above average. It can even be said to be equivalent to a director’s salary in a large company. And Big Boss is also very loyal to them.

"Alright! Now go back to doing your task. We have many things to do before moving to the capital... don’t delay." Gavin seriously said and was immersed in his work.

While in Evan’s office.

Rose was embarrassed because Gavin caught them kissing.

"Evan! Can you hold yourself if we are not in a private place? Your assistant saw us...I’m really embarrassed." Still hiding her face in his embrace, Rose couldn’t hold to tell what she was afraid of.

Evan tightened his embrace before he whispered near her ear,

"Why are you so shy about it? They already know that you will be my wife. They’re adults. They should understand what lovers do, right?"

Rose couldn’t counter his words. Because he was right. They are adults, and kissing is a part of a healthy relationship. She could only nod slightly and agree with him.

Soon they both started to work.

Evan is immersed in his company task at his office desk.

Rose was seated at the meeting table while staring thoughtfully at her laptop. He started to open her new active trading account to buy some of the stocks she wanted to buy.

When she opened her trading account, she was shocked.

"This!? How could this...." She looks at Evan. From where she sits, she can see how handsome he is. His jaw perfectly framed his face. His short dark brown hair that was neatly combed made it even more perfect in her eyes. For a moment, she just stared at him, trying to enjoy this beautiful god creature, before being caught stealing glances at him.

"Do you need anything, Rose?"

Rose was stunned when she heard Evan call her name. She was so immersed in looking at him that he didn’t realize that Evan was currently staring at her.

"Hmm.... Y-yes E-Evan." Rose stammered.

"What is it?" Evan placed his paper and pen on the table, then he stood and walked toward her.

"Did you place some money in my trading account?" She asks him once Evan is standing right next to her. Then, she shows him her laptop screen in the section about the balance in her account.

Rose was confused because she hadn’t put any penny in her account. However, there is such a large amount of funds in her stock trading account. Which made her doubt whether it was money from Evan or not.

But who else could give her money there if not Evan? Because only she and Evan know the account number.

She looked at him, waiting for his answer.

Evan is trying to read Rose’s expression. He wanted to know if she seemed annoyed that he gave her the money?

He deliberately placed a capital fund for her to start her plan. He knows how much money she will need to start her own business. If she only relies on stock trading, her plan to build a company will roll later and take more time than expected.

This is only a little help for her to quickly shine with her own efforts. But before putting the money in Rose’s account, he had thought through the reasons he was going to tell her so she wouldn’t be offended.

Chapter 35: Fragile Heart

Evan smiled at her while sitting beside her.

"I did..."

Rose was surprised to hear Evan’s answer.

"Why do you do that, Evan? This is not small money. This huge amount..." Rose felt uncomfortable accepting that much money from Evan. Worried that Evan would think of her as a materialist woman.

Seeing his girl confused, he immediately explained his meaning.

"I’m not giving you. I just wanted to test your trading ability, so I placed that money in your account. You can return that money to me if you double it in six months. Can you accept my challenge?" This is the best excuse he found.

His girlfriend will definitely accept the challenge as she is very competitive. And he was sure that she would definitely be his wife in six months. If they’re already married, there’s no reason for her to return the money, right?

Rose smiled, hearing Evan’s challenge. She felt relieved. She thought Evan pitied her because she didn’t have money. Gosh! How could she think that about Evan?

"Evan, I agree!!!" Rose reached out her hand for a handshake with Evan.

"Awesome, My Dear! But, if you fail, you buy me a present using that money. And if that happened, god forbid, be creative. I won’t accept so-so present using the money." Evan accepts Rose’s hand to seal their deal.

"Huh!? Why should I buy you a present with your money?" She was confused.

"My birthday is in six months. Instead of returning the money, you’d better buy me a great present..." Evan held his laugh when he saw the girl more confused looking at him.

He placed his hand on her neck and drew his face closer to her.

"Rose! Forget it. Now you better focus on trading, or you will lose your chance to buy a good share..." He kisses her soft lips and then stands up. Leaving Rose frozen in place.

Evan walked with light steps towards his desk. His heart was so happy that he felt he was on cloud nine. Today, God blessed him with three good things. The first is kissing Rose intimately. The second is helping his gorgeous woman without her knowing. And the third, he can see her priceless innocent cute face when he steals a kiss.

"Damn it, my fragile heart, can you give me a break just a little bit!? Don’t be too greedy, alright!! How dare you wish to marry her now?" Evan scolds himself in his heart when the thought of bringing the girl to the marriage register office appears in his mind.

She smiles while making a quick note to discuss this one with her future personal programmers, she has in mind.

Rose and Evan were both immersed in their respective activities until lunchtime arrived. Evan stopped all his activities and looked at the meeting table in front of him. He saw Rose still looking at her laptop. She looks so thoughtful. Makes him curious to know what she’s doing.

After tidying his office desk, he joined her at the meeting table. He took a glance at her laptop screen. He was surprised. He thought his lover was busy looking at the stock market, but she was reading her thesis?

"Are you still working on it?" Evan asked while sitting next to her.

"Hmm... I just finalized it." Rose was surprised to know Evan had already sat beside her. She didn’t notice his presence at all. She was too immersed in what she was doing earlier. "I want to finish this thesis as soon as possible. Because next week I think I don’t have much time left. I will be busy with my mother’s surgery...." Rose saved the file she was working on and then turned off her laptop.

"About your mother, I have arranged everything. Her surgery will be rescheduled. She will have surgery in the next few days. I know you must be worried that your mother’s surgery schedule will coincide with our graduation exam, right?"

Evan smiles, looking at the girl who stares at him with her teary eyes. He quietly took a deep sigh.

How could this girl always be mesmerized every time she looked at me?

"Are you hungry now? What do you want to eat?" He asks while stroking her hair.

"You know, I’m not a picky eater, Evan...." She smiled back at him.

"Do you want to go back to my apartment? I can cook for you there, and we can continue to work again after that." Evan didn’t want to linger in his office.

"That’s a good idea. It will be more convenient to work from your home." Rose agreed with Evan.

"Perfect! Now tidy your things." Evan stood up from the chair and walked to his desk. "Rose, don’t forget to bring the red roses...." He continued his words.

Rose is confused by Evan’s words. She saw the red roses on the table, and suddenly her jealousy appeared again in her heart.

Why does Evan want her to bring that flower? Did he like the flower so much that he wanted to take it home?

Who the hell gave him the red roses?

She really wanted to ask him, but she was too shy to ask.

Gosh!
