Ch. 436..440: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 436-440
Chapter 436: Misunderstanding (2)
Sean’s deep cold eyes stared at Rose.
"Can you not say that name?" His voice was low, but Rose could feel his words’ coldness and sharpness.
She nodded slightly in agreement with him.
"That woman is manipulative! You better stay away from her. She can manipulate other people, including you."
She knew that woman had no virtue intention, but still, she said her name in front of her brother. But she never expected her brother to be this angry.
As far as she can remember, Sean and Carla had been fine the last time she saw them at Aidan’s restaurant.
Aren’t they close? Why was he suddenly this angry at Carla?
Rose listened silently to Sean. He was still trying to convince her not to be friends with Carla. However, after several minutes, she finally realized something.
"Brother, have you read the news out there? I mean, gossip news between Evan and...." She could see the anger in his heart reflected in his eyes.
Sean took a deep breath as he averted his eyes, avoiding her curious gaze.
"Your husband almost hit me because he found out I took her to Aidan’s restaurant." Sean stopped to fill the air in his stuffy chest. After some time, he continued his words without taking his eyes off, "Evan, threaten me. If I still hung out with her, he would really hit me. And you know what?"
Rose was surprised. Evan could threaten the special forces leader, and this leader was older than him!? Somehow Rose felt proud to know that. Her husband is a true man. He was savage!
"Know what?" She asks curiously.
Sean glanced at Rose, "Your husband never breaks promises. So, yeah... I avoided that woman."
"Brother, why did you hear Evan? If you like that woman, then go for it. Why did you leave the woman you like just because Evan said so?" Even though she didn’t like Carla Miller, she couldn’t ask Sean to hate her, right!?
Sean sneered as he shook his head, "It seems you don’t know. I never liked her. That woman who likes me. And I can’t stop other people from doing that, can I?"
"Ah!" She was amused by Sean and Carla Miller’s story. "Now I understand."
They fell silent for a moment...
Sean decides to tell Rose about Stella’s identity to keep this girl’s fantasies from running wild, suspecting him of stealing Stella from another guy. He was afraid that he might get into trouble if his mother and father heard this story.
"Rose, speaking of Stella. I wanted to ask you something...."
"Yeah, what is it? Just ask..." Rose frowned, confused by the look in Sean’s eyes.
"You said before that Stella is your best friend?"
"Hmm... she is. Why?"
"When was the last time you saw her?"
Rose pondered for a moment, "If I’m not mistaken, Stella suddenly disappeared after the high school graduation exam. That was the last time I saw her until a few days ago we met again by chance."
"So, it’s been almost five years, right?"
"Yeah!"
"When she disappeared, did you two have contact? I mean, talking on the phone or exchanging messages through the mail?"
Sean wanted to confirm this before telling the truth. Because this is a crucial matter to free Stella from punishment. Because as a member of the Black Eagle, Stella is not allowed to reveal her identity to anyone.
Rose looked at Sean with a confused look. She felt her brother was weird.
Why would he ask something like this?
But even though she was confused, she still answered. "Never! We lost touch until we met a few days ago. Why do you ask, brother?"
"When you met her, did she say what happened to her in the last four years?"
"Of course. Stella said her parents had suddenly moved to a backward country with poor signal, so she could contact her friends overseas while living there." Rose begins to be suspicious of Sean. "Can you explain to me why you ask this?"
Sean didn’t say anything. He just looked at her while rubbing his nose.
"Gosh!! Brother, are you still going to chase Stella after I told you she already has a boyfriend?" Rose was mad at Sean now.
This man is so stupid. How could he be lowly like that to win Stella’s heart?
Sean wanted to laugh at how cute his grumpy cousin was now.
"Sean Spencer, you...." Rose was tired of talking to him. This man will never stop pursuing Stella. It’s no use in trying to stop him.
After a few moments, Rose decides to help him.
"Brother Sean, if you like Stella that much and want to pursue her, I don’t mind helping you. But you have to promise me once you win her heart, you will never hurt her. If you do that, then I will be the first to beat you up!" Rose said. Friends becoming sisters is a good thing, right!?
She liked the idea. She would help Sean win Stella’s heart as she didn’t really like Stella’s current boyfriend. The man looks arrogant. He didn’t even want to know about Stella’s friend.
"I have nothing more to say. So, let’s go inside..." Rose stood from her seat, but before she could walk, Sean caught her hand. She was surprised and turned to look at him. "What’s wrong, brother?"
"Please, don’t do that!"
"Do what?" Rose was confused hearing how serious his tone was.
"I’m not done talking yet. Seat first..." He explained when he saw Rose sitting beside him again. "Please, don’t do anything. Stella is not the person I like."
"What!?" Rose looked at him with a strange expression. "You don’t like her!? But why did you bring her here? At our family party?"
She felt confused. If he didn’t like Stella, why did he bring her here? Is he utterly clueless about love? Gosh!
"Listen, Rose! What I’m about to say now is top secret. And I hope you keep it the way you keep my secret as a member of the Black Eagle...." His serious tone made her anxious.
Instantly Rose’s body tensed up as she listened in silence.
Chapter 437: Know The Truth
"Stella is the same as me. She is a member of the Black Eagles special force. And the man you saw a few days ago was not her boyfriend but her team leader, my subordinate. When you recognized Stella, they were both undercover in the cafe as a couple." Sean paused when he saw her shocked.
"Since you recognize them, their mission that afternoon automatically fails." Sean continued again. "And why I brought her here tonight is part of my mission. I can’t tell you what it was, but there was nothing between her and me. That is the truth. She’s just my colleague, nothing more."
Sean ruffled her hair gently when he saw her in a daze for a few moments like she was cosplaying as a mannequin.
"Do you understand what I’m saying?"
She nodded, "H-mmm... I understand." Rose understood why Stella suddenly disappeared after they took their high school exams a few years ago. It must have something to do with her joining the military.
"Brother, Stella disappeared four years ago because she was recruited into your division?" She felt amused to realize this. She never thought her beautiful and graceful best friend would join the army and become one of the special forces.
She remembered that Stella’s parents were active in the military. Still, she didn’t expect Stella to follow in her parent’s footsteps.
"Yes. You could say that. Stella entered through special recruitment. But I’m sorry, I couldn’t tell you anything more. And it would be best if you didn’t ask her this either. Because as a member of the Black Eagle, she can’t tell anyone about this... including her family." Sean explains.
Like him, his parents knew he was a military officer but never knew which division he was in. Only his grandfather and Uncle Nicholas Spencer knew because they were both an active military leader.
Rose understands that. She knows Sean’s identity not because Sean told her but because she accidentally met him while he was on a mission. And that’s when Evan told her about Sean’s identity.
Now she understood why Stella was making up what had happened to her in the past years.
"But brother, why did you tell me?" Rose is confused. Isn’t this supposed to be a secret?
"Because if I don’t explain this, you’ll be pursuing her to tell you the truth, right?"
Rose chuckled. Indeed.
"Well, I believe that girl will tell you everything. And she will be in trouble if she does that. As her leader, I have no choice but to tell you this."
Sean looked into Rose’s eyes to ensure she understood what he was saying.
"Rose, you have to promise me you will stop talking about this again. Never ask her about this!!" His voice was so tense. Rose could only nod to respond to his words.
"Promise me in words, Rose!"
Sean’s commanding voice made Rose shudder. This man was indeed a general in his team. He’s scary when he’s serious.
"I, I’ll keep my promise!" She raised her healthy hand and made a V sign to reassure him.
Now Rose felt relieved. Her worries vanished. Stella, her best friend, is nothing else but a fantastic woman. She was proud of her — though she couldn’t praise her directly.
As Rose and Sean chatted, Evan stood in the doorway, looking at them with a displeased expression. He knew his wife needed to talk to Sean, but they converse for a long time. He couldn’t let his woman be exposed to cold weather for too long, which made him worry.
Evan strides outside, feeling mad at Sean.
"Wife! You’ve been out too long. Go inside, join the others." Evan walked over to Rose and helped her up.
"Evan, it’s not that cold here. There’s a heater..." Rose pointed at the heater behind them, trying to reassure him. Still, after seeing his stern face, she quickly followed his orders to go inside.
After seeing his wife go inside, Evan sat beside Sean with his murderous aura.
"Bro, why are you still hanging out with that woman?" Evan was dissatisfied, just venting his anger over the phone at Sean. His eyes looked at him as if wanting to punch him through his gaze.
Sean couldn’t argue with Evan about that. He is indeed an idiot. He knew that Carla only liked him because of his last name, which is a fact. Nevertheless, he was still willing to meet her. He snorted silently and looked ahead at the city light to avoid Evan’s gaze.
"Do you know what she did to my wife?"
Sean frowned. He looked at Evan. "What? Did he do something!? Do tell..."
"That woman provoked my wife. And I believe the gossip out there is her doing. My people are still trying to investigate. But I’m sure we’ll find the evidence sooner!"
Sean was shocked to hear that. He never imagined Carla Miller would do that. But then again, knowing her character, the woman could do that to win back Evan’s attention after knowing Evan’s true identity.
"Are you sure she did that?"
"I’m certain!" Evan’s facial expressions were flat, but the coldness on his face was bone-chilling.
"What the fuck!!" Sean couldn’t help cursing Carla. How dare she do it!? Did that woman want to ruin Evan using A-Netz’s help? Is she tired of living in this country?
Carla Miller is so stupid!!
That woman didn’t really know his cousin, Evan. This young man is cruel if someone provokes him. Even his father, the CEO of Collins Group, never wins if they argue. He dared to clash with his father. What else is just a tiny person like Carla?
That woman is doomed!
And...
Why did that woman also provoke his cousin, Rose!?
If only Evan was affected, he didn’t care. He knew Evan would be able to solve this. However, if that woman hurts his cousin, Rose. So he couldn’t stay still.
"Evan, you have to tell me if you have any evidence that she was involved. I will deal with her!"
"Sure!! You have to...." Evan wanted nothing more to do with Carla Miller. He was done with her, back when she refused him.
Chapter 438: Pressured
After a while, they both fell silent as if they were lost in their thoughts.
Evan was thinking about Oscar. He is now busy tracking down the hacker who attacked him. He is starting to worry because it’s almost midnight, and Oscar still hasn’t contacted him — that is to say, Oscar was facing someone as capable as him.
Since knowing about that gossip, he really wanted to help Oscar, but he couldn’t leave this place.
As for Sean, he thought of his cousin Rose who had been provoked by Carla Miller. This happened when they met at the restaurant. He still blamed himself for being insensitive toward her cousin. Back then, he didn’t tell Carla to stop bothering Evan anymore because he was married. Now he regrets it.
Sean, looking at Evan curiously, "Is she fine!?" Sean broke the silence. "I mean, did she know about your story and that woman?" he was curious about Rose’s feelings.
Evan crossed his arms over his chest as he relaxed in the chair. He looked at Sean disinterestedly.
"She’s fine. However, I won’t allow something like this to happen again!" Even though Rose said she was fine, Evan couldn’t guarantee that she was telling the truth.
Sean patted Evan on the shoulder, "Brother, don’t worry. I will ensure that women never appear before you or Rose again. I promise you!"
While Sean and Evan were still talking, Oliver suddenly appeared on the balcony. Just as he was about to light his cigarette, he saw Sean Spencer chatting with Evan on a park bench in the corner.
Instantly Oliver felt his whole body tighten, realizing that Sean Spencer was Keira’s older brother.
He put his cigarette in his pocket. Decided to go inside. Not that he was afraid of Sean Spencer, but they looked so intense in discussing something. He didn’t want to disturb them.
However, before entering the house, he heard Evan Collins call him to join them.
Oliver snorted under his breath. He was reluctant. However, he couldn’t avoid Evan for sure. He stopped in his tracks and then turned to look in Evan’s direction.
"Oliver, come, join us here. I need to ask you something," Evan said.
For some reason, Oliver found it awkward to join them. This was the first time Evan Collins spoke to him alone. Usually, Rose or Sam was always with him.
It wasn’t just Evan who could give him that feeling of awkwardness and pressure but Sean Spencer too. Oliver still feels uncomfortable around his future brother-in-law. The pressure exuded by these two mighty men was extremely tense.
Despite all that, Oliver was still sitting in front of the two men now watching him. They were acting like skinning him alive. He could feel his hands slightly wet with sweat in the middle of winter.
Oliver was confused. Why are they looking at him like that?
Sean had seen Oliver before but didn’t get a good moment to talk to him. He liked this man for what he did to his cousin Rose. He respected him, especially when he sacrificed his life to protect Rose from their car accident a few months ago.
"Brother Sean, you know this man, right?" Evan said as he looked at Sean. He suddenly wanted to tease Oliver. Before Sean could answer him, Evan continued, "Well, he’s Oliver Hester, my wife’s friend, and current CEO of Wilson group."
Then, Evan saw Oliver. There was a slight smile on his face. He said, "Oliver, this is Sean Spencer, Keira Spencer’s older brother. You know him, right?"
"I know." Oliver smiled as he stood up from his seat and offered Sean Spencer a handshake, "Nice to meet you, Bro... M-Mr. Spencer." He was nervous about talking to his future brother-in-law.
Sean smiled and took Oliver’s handshake. "Nice to meet you, Oliver. Man, no need to be formal with me. You can call me brother if you want. I’m older than you anyway."
Is he really this polite? Thought Oliver.
What Oliver heard from Keira, her older brother was cold and introverted. He is also very protective. But, Sean’s attitude now was different from what Oliver had heard. However, the aura emanating from Sean was the same as Oliver had imagined. This man was cold, making Oliver feel uncomfortable around him.
Aside from that, he was also afraid that Evan would tell Sean that he was dating his little sister, Keira. This is not the right time to disclose the relationship. He needed a decent place to talk to Sean, like going to a nice restaurant to eat and talk.
"Oliver is also close to your little sister," Evan casually said while playing with his cell phone. However, his words almost made Oliver’s ears bleed.
Oliver gave Evan a displeased look. Damn it! What deep grudge do you have against me, brother Evan?
"You close with my sister Keira!?" Sean Spencer looks at Oliver with a strange expression. Since when Keira became friends with Oliver Hester?
The corners of Oliver’s lips twitched. He could only curse Evan in his heart because he told Sean out of nowhere. He looked at Sean and then said, "Yes. I’m quite close to Keira. She works at the Wilson Group now...."
"Ah! I remember. My sister pursued her talents in the fashion industry. Please take care of her; she is still young and lacks in business fields."
"Don’t worry, brother, Sean. I will..."
"Yes, you should!" Evan chimed in. He felt satisfied to see Oliver so tense and awkward in front of Sean.
Oliver, "..."
He didn’t know where to look. These two men had given him such intense pressure. While he tried to calm himself so as not to look too nervous about facing his future brother-in-law. Suddenly, Evan asked again.
"What about the Hester family? Have you finished all of them?"
Once again, Oliver felt the tension Evan was creating.
Bro, are you doing this to me on purpose? Why now, brother? When Sean Spencer was here.
Oliver suddenly misses his best friend, Rose. He would have asked her to drag her husband away if only the girl had been here.
Darn it!
Chapter 439: Be Honest
Evan wanted to know how the Hester Family was doing—did Oliver settle them?
He knows that Keira’s kidnapping was orchestrated by Archy Hester. However, he did not tell Sean about this matter. Sean only knows that Keira is just out of luck and was kidnapped by drug syndicate members.
He had no intention of telling Sean, worried that Oliver would get in trouble if Sean found out. The reason Archy Hester kidnapped Keira was to take revenge on Oliver.
Oliver was utterly speechless. He tried to sit up straighter before he answered Evan’s question. "I’ve done what you suggested. And I will go to Hester’s shareholders’ meeting at the beginning of the year as the largest shareholder. So everything is under the plan..." he explained to him honestly.
"Wait! Oliver Hester? You’re from the Hester family in Nova City?" Sean Spencer was surprised to know that.
Oliver couldn’t avoid it anymore. Sooner or later, Sean and his parents will discover that he is part of the Hester family if her relationship with Keira is exposed.
"Yes," said Oliver while looking at Sean closely. He wanted to know Sean’s reaction. Has Sean changed his point of view toward him now? Will he be less friendly than before?
But what he was afraid of did not happen. This man is still the same. In contrast, he was curious about him.
"I didn’t expect you to turn out to be one of the sons of the Hester family," said Sean. "But why are you working for my cousin? Why don’t you go back to work for your family?"
Sean was curious because the Hester Group was much bigger than the Wilson Group. Why is he trying so hard to help Rose!?
Oliver was at a loss for words to answer Sean’s curiosity. He pondered for a moment looking for the correct answer. Oliver didn’t want to leave a wrong impression in front of his future brother-in-law. What happened to his family in Nova City was not something he could be proud of.
His shameless family still haunts him wherever he goes, even though he has cut ties between them.
Carrying Hester’s name behind his was something he had regretted all along. If not for his late mother forcing him to keep the family name ’Hester,’ he would have changed his last name—perhaps he would have used Wilson instead.
"Because something happened in my family, I left the family years ago. I guess you’ve found out from the media...." Oliver was honest with Sean Spencer. "I decided to move on and work for Rose," he continued.
He couldn’t hide his family problems forever from Sean and his family, could he!? One day they will know if his relationship with Keira is getting more profound. He is serious about Keira and intends to marry her.
Sean looked at Oliver in concern, "So you decide to help Rose because of that?"
He knew what happened to the Hester Family through the latest news. Their business is on the verge of bankruptcy. From what he saw, Hester’s group most likely had provoked many influential families in this country, including the Collins and the Spencer Families. He didn’t know what exactly happened because he wasn’t involved in the family business. He was only focused on military affairs.
But, hearing Oliver and Evan’s previous conversation, it seemed like something was going to happen soon with the Hester family. Did Oliver want revenge on his family?
"Yeah. That’s one of the reasons. Besides, I’ve known Rose for a long time and consider her like my family. So when she asked me to help her to start the Wilson group, I immediately agreed."
Suddenly Oliver’s memories reel back to the first time Rose had come to his place and asked him to work for her. Back then, he was willing to work for her as long as he became a shareholder.
He has other agendas to compete with the Hester Group in the future, and the fast way to achieve his goals is to have a big company. And Rose showed up at the right time.
But...
It turns out his revenge plan actually came in another way. Evan guided and helped him a lot to destroy them. It’s only a matter of time before he appears in Nova City as the largest shareholder of Hester’s Group.
"Well, Oliver isn’t just a CEO at the Wilson Group..." Evan suddenly spoke up, "He’s a shareholder there. I think he owns 20% of the stock, right Oliver?" Evan asked.
Oliver swallowed hard, hearing Evan. He looked at him, confused.
This big boss Evan, why did he switch sides so fast? Now, he’s trying to help him again!? Oliver felt slightly better and lessened his anger at Evan Collins.
"Yes, I did. I invested 20% when Rose proposed to me to become CEO of the Wilson Group." Oliver said in a deep tone.
"You are amazing, Oliver!"
Sean gave a thumbs up, pleased with what he heard. This man is excellent and kindhearted; besides being handsome, he is also intelligent and has become a CEO at a young age. What he had heard from Rose about Oliver, this man was highly gifted with technology—a man like Oliver had a bright future.
If only his sister was old enough to marry, he would ask Oliver to become his brother-in-law. But unfortunately, Keira is still too young to think about dating or marriage. She has to finish college first, and it’s still 2 years away.
Now, his sister is not allowed to date. These were the strict rules his father set for his children, including him—his father was too conservative.
And that rule impacts him to this day. Makes him idle to find a partner. And until now, there has not been a single woman who can shake his heart.
"Thank you, Brother Sean." Oliver couldn’t help but be flattered by Sean’s kindness to him.
Should he tell him about his relationship with his younger sister?
Sean Spencer seemed lovely and not intimidating after talking for a while.
Chapter 440: New Year
Later...
Everyone inside the house came onto the balcony to join Evan and the others.
Soon the new year will come. And every year, there is a fireworks show in the city center. They will enjoy the fireworks show from the balcony.
Evan immediately stood up from his seat and walked over to his wife, who was now standing alone in the corner. He gave her another winter coat to protect her from the cold wind.
As Rose felt a coat drape over her shoulders, she turned her head. She finds Evan standing behind her. He smiled affectionately at her.
She smiled back at him before saying, "Hubby, how was the talk with Oliver? Everything okay?" She asked.
Rose knew Evan had talked to Oliver about the Hester Group.
"Hmm, everything is fine!" Evan said while hugging her from behind. And at the same time, the firework show started. They watched a beautiful light that covered the dark sky above the city. As a sign, the first day of the new year has arrived.
"Happy new year Mrs. Rose Collins..." Evan’s gentle voice made Rose smile.
"Happy new year to you too, Mr. Evan Collins, my kind and hot husband."
A kiss landed on her soft neck. It made her giggle, feeling the warmth of Evan’s lips enter her pores. She instantly forgot everything around her as if only the two of them were on the balcony.
Evan turned her body to face him and buried her tiny body into his long coat.
She smiled at how sweet her husband was. She said nothing but rested her head on his sturdy chest and heard the following words.
"Wife, last year was the happiest time in my life. And I hope this year will be even more fantastic for both of us. I will never stop loving you, my dear..." His voice sounded sincere.
Even though she had been married to Evan for a long time, every time this man used sweet words, her heart still felt flattering.
Slowly she raised her head to look at him. Her heart slightly trembled when she met his tender gaze. "Hubby, I also pray that this year will be better than the last. I hope our love will only grow stronger. And I hope..." her tongue suddenly went numb before the words left her lips.
She felt her body tense as the last desire she desperately wanted, torment her mind. A child is all she wants now. She wanted to have children with the man she loved.
But it seems the longing to have children has not yet come. It’s been a few months since she married Evan, but there is no good news for her to share either. There have been dozens of test packs that have ended up in the trash can. And every time she did that, tears filled her eyes, and paint tortured her heart.
She never told Evan about this. She was too worried that Evan would be disappointed in her.
So, yes... a child would be her biggest wish for the following year. She wished God would bless her and Evan with cute creatures filling their home on the misty mountain.
"What hope?" Evan was curious when he saw her stop her words. "Wife, tell me, I will grant your wish, whatever you want..." he kissed her forehead gently.
Rose was reluctant to tell him. She laid her head again on his chest and closed her eyes. For a few seconds, she was in profound silence.
"Are you tired? Would you like to go back and rest?" Evan’s tone sounded worried. She shook her head and looked at him again.
"Hubby, I’m sorry...."
"Huh!? For what?" Evan was confused by how low her mood was now. Does something bother her now?
"I’m sorry because I’m not pregnant yet!" Rose’s voice was so soft it was barely audible to her ears. However, Evan clearly heard her words. "Evan, what if I can’t..." Rose couldn’t finish her words because Evan’s lips covered hers.
A few seconds later, their lips slowly separated. Evan said gently, "Dear wife, you should stop blaming yourself. I never want to have children if you are depressed like now." Evan tightened his embrace. "And, you must believe, we will have children. Don’t say, what if!"
He turned her body to watch the fireworks again then she whispered in her ear, "Promise me, don’t think about it anymore. We’ll try our best. God will definitely give us as many children as we want..." Evan said after the last fireworks went off in the sky.
"Hmm..."
"Good! Now, come on in. You should take a rest now."
Rose agreed with Evan. She did feel tired and sleepy after eating much. Earlier her aunt Amanda had been feeding her non-stop. Now she feels like there’s glue on her eyelashes. It was very difficult to open her eyes.
After saying goodbye to her friends and family, Rose left the third floor and headed straight for her bedroom on the second floor.
As for Evan, Rose asks him to accompany them all as hosts.
When everyone had gone inside the house, Oliver and Sean were still standing in the corner with their backs facing the house. They were enjoying the scenery of the city while talking about something. They look closely at each other. Occasionally they laughed while talking.
But that wasn’t what Keria Spencer saw. She saw her brother scolding her boyfriend, Oliver.
"This!? Older brother already knows about our relationship?" She murmurs. Her heart was pounding, and her anxiety was getting worse.
And when she saw Sean pat Oliver on the shoulder, she felt even tenser. She could feel a great power rising inside her. She was not afraid of her older brother. She should stop him from insulting Oliver.
With quick steps, Keira approached them, and this is what she heard,
"You already decided to cut ties with..."
Her heart trembles as she marches to stand between Sean and Oliver. Her burning eyes looked sharply at her older brother.
