Chapter 446: Powerful Hacker Behind Him

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Oliver Hester continued after seeing Rose’s shocked expression, "Yes... yes... that’s right..." he waved his hand while leaning his back leisurely.

Rose frowned.

"Well, my friend... I was also involved in that case. Without you asking, I already sent my virus to my master...."

"Humph! So did you really help clean up the gossip?"

Immediately, her mind was busy sorting through the many questions that filled her mind; What masters? Why was he suddenly involved? Did Evan ask him?

"Master? Master what?" Rose never heard it from Oliver.

"Didn’t I tell you? My master, who taught me to be the best hacker..."

"Ah, yes... yes... I remember. But why did you give him your virus? And what does that have to do with Evan’s gossip news?" This confused Rose.

"Well, technically, I’m not helping your husband. But I gave the virus to my master, and it looks like my master is working for your husband..." Oliver explained.

When Oliver could connect the dots that his master worked for Evan Collins, he was shocked. Because he and his master can relate funnily — he works for Rose while his master is working for Evan.

If only his master agrees to meet him, that would be great. Because they can hang out together.

"Wait... wait... Oliver, you say, your master, work for my husband? Really!?" This really surprised Rose. She never knew Evan had such a powerful hacker behind him.

All along, Rose had thought Oliver was the best hacker she’d ever known, but her husband’s hacker was even more capable. "Have you ever met him? I mean, do I know him?"

If that guy was working for Evan, she probably already met him, right!?

Because she had met many people who were close to Evan; most of them had mysterious backgrounds, including Sam and Gavin. Is it one of them? Or, the man she met while visiting Tuscany, Lucas Allen?

Scarlett stared at Oliver, waiting for his response, but his response confused her. This idiot Oliver was laughing as she had just told a hilarious joke.

Gosh. How stupid this man is!

Oliver couldn’t help laughing when he heard Rose’s question, it sounded so funny to him.

How can he answer that? Even he, who had known his master for many years, had never seen his appearance without cover, mask, or makeup. And that was because every time they held a video call, his master used an avatar to cover his face. He even changed his voice. Several times he begged to meet him in person, but his master always refused.

Oliver even recalled the answer his master gave whenever he asked to see him, "This is not the right time!"

"I don’t think you know him. I honestly never met him in person, either. We communicated through video calls during this time, but he always used an avatar, so I never saw his face. As far as I know, he is not from this country. I presume he is European or Australian... "

Rose suddenly thought of Lucas Allen. It had to be him because Evan introduced him as the one who ran his Europe business.

But Lucas never came to this country. If he comes, Evan must have arranged dinner with him, right!?

Who is he, actually?

Rose tried to remember Evan’s subordinates who had just come to this country. She thought for a moment. After a while, she suddenly realized something.

Oscars!? It must be him.

She was certain Oscar was not someone from this country. That’s because he once said he had just come to this country and didn’t know much about this town when he replaced Sam as her driver.

It’s no wonder that after the warehouse accident, Oscar suddenly disappeared, and until now, he hasn’t appeared again. And no words from him either. It looked like Evan had asked him to investigate something that required him to stay under the radar.

Yes, it must be him!

OMG! The nerdy Oscar is a powerful hacker and more skillful than Oliver. That can’t be true! This was the best joke Rose had ever heard.

So far, she knew she was surrounded by more powerful hackers on the continent, no, maybe he was the best in the world, and she never noticed his talent.

What a joke. Evan assigned Oscar as her driver and bodyguard during Sam’s absence.

"Gosh! Hubby, how could you assign a powerful hacker to become my driver?" She muttered under her breath.

*****

February 1st.

Time passed quickly. It’s been a month since New Year. Nothing significant happened in Rose and Evan’s life.

During the month, Evan is busy with his job but spends a lot of time working from home. He only goes to the office if he has something important to do.

As for Rose, because she did not get permission to go to the office, she also worked from home. She usually conducts online conferences with Oliver and the others. Sometimes they all visit here and report on the progress of the company.

The Willson Group was a huge hit last year.

Especially for W Mining, its rapid progress has made this company increasingly known in Astington.

Not only W Mining but Rapid Realty, which previously could not bring profit to the company. During the first month of this year, more new projects are coming. Now Rapid Realty is starting to open in several other cities.

Besides working at home, Rose also went back and forth to her parent’s house. And as usual, her mother always asks her about pregnancy. Something she hates the most.

Previously Rose had never been annoyed when her mother asked her that, but recently she started to feel depressed.

And for that reason, Rose doesn’t want to visit her mother these past few days. But, since she wasn’t seeing her mother for a while, her mother would come by her today.

Her mother made an excuse to come to cook healthy food for her — nutritious food to get pregnant.

Gosh! How could she believe the healthy food would make her pregnant?

Chapter 447: Distance

Molly Wilson had told Rose that the food she made was good for her fertility.

Of course, Rose didn’t believe that, but she was too tired of arguing with her mother. So, she listens to her mother and eats whatever she cooks.

Even though her mother’s cooking was slightly different from what she usually cooked, it tasted equally delicious on Rose’s tongue. That’s one reason Rose can eat everything her mother feeds her.

But...

Unfortunately, not only does Molly provide food for Rose, but she also serves a strange drink she calls a ’magic tonic.’

The ’Magic Tonic’ was so bitter it tasted like hell. And after Rose drank it, she felt her whole body heat up. It was as if someone was burning a bonfire within her body. Gosh!

Rose didn’t know how her mother got the strange drink, but she had heard from Laura that her mother got it from Asian Town, a few miles from the city.

At least for drinks, Rose didn’t have to suffer alone since Evan was being targeted by her mother as well. However, Evan was very patient with her mother—he happily accepted the bitter tonic and said the tonic was delicious.

Evan’s patience and consideration for her mother’s pregnancy plans made Rose even more anxious because another month had passed, and she still wasn’t pregnant.

There were no signs of physical changes in her. Only her emotions are increasingly unstable. She is starting to get stressed.

Whenever Evan noticed her mood swings, he always made her feel better. He always said, "Wife, our marriage was not yet a year old. It was too early to do anything."

But, Rose was still worried, especially when reading articles about pregnancy. Her emotions turned like a rollercoaster when she read various A-Netz comments.

Rose’s heart ached when she read A-Netz’s comments, who shared that they became pregnant not long after the marriage. She felt jealous.

But when she read comments about a couple who had been married for several years and only got pregnant recently, she felt happy. Because many couples out there are waiting for their first pregnancy longer than them.

This topic of pregnancy challenged her mind and heart. In the past month, she felt exhausted. She had tried to loosen herself and forget all the stress, but it was still hard. She couldn’t ignore her mother, could she?

Even today, her mother came and busied herself in the kitchen—she came to cook for her.

Her mother treated her like a princess. She asks her to rest in her bedroom. But, just lying in bed without her husband tormented her — today, Evan went into the office.

Rose lay on her bed, scrolling through her phone to read Instagram. She tries to feed her eyes with beautiful images from the timeline of the influencers she likes.

Recently, Rose has liked to stalk travel influencers. They posted pretty photos from all over the world, giving her the idea to take a vacation with Evan after her hand healed.

Speaking of her hand, according to the doctor, they will remove the cast the day after tomorrow. Rose was excited. Because she couldn’t wait to visit her office.

While stalking her favorite influencer’s Instagram, she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in..." Rose looked at the door. Laura Martin, her personal assistant, came into view. "Laura... What is it?" She got up and sat on the edge of the bed, tying her hair into a messy bun.

"Young madam, your lunch is ready. Your mother told you to come downstairs...."

"Okay. Laura, please tell mom I’ll be down soon."

"Yes, I will..." Laura said and left the room.

After seeing the door closed, Rose rechecked her phone. What she saw on her cellphone nearly choked her — Pictures of Evan and Carla Miller have resurfaced. Someone uploaded it on Instagram, and of course, the picture immediately became trending on several social media platforms and gossip news portals.

Rose’s hands were shaking, too shocked by what she saw.

"Haven’t they cleared up this matter? Why is this photo showing up again?" Her mood instantly dropped to zero, like a broken kite that fell to the ground. She feels lost. The news managed to make her appetite disappear.

After trying to calm her heart, Rose threw her cell phone on the bed and rushed downstairs. She would put aside the gossip news. For now, she would face her mother first.

When Rose arrived at the dining table, she was shocked.

"Oh my god! My mother is finally back..." Rose grinned and quickly sat down on her seat. The dish her mother used to cook for her when they were still living in East City now lay on the table. The aroma suddenly filled her nostrils and made her mood gradually lift.

"I heard from Laura you’ve had enough of the food I’ve been making lately," Molly said as she sat in front of her daughter. "I’m sorry, Rose if lately, I have become a mother who is insensitive to your feelings. I have become a mother who demands too much from you. I’m sorry...."

Rose’s smile disappeared.

Why, why does her mother seem angry!?

She met her mother’s eyes and was shocked to see her eyes redden like she was trying to hold back tears.

Rose’s heart tightened.

"I made you disappointed in me, Rose. I know..."

Molly was devastated when she heard from Laura that her daughter was stressed because she was pushing her too hard to have children. It broke Molly’s heart. She never thought that what she was doing now would make her daughter feel stressed.

But what made Molly even sadder and annoyed was that her daughter, who used to open up to her, now closed herself off from her.

Molly felt that there was some distance between them. Her daughter didn’t say anything, unlike how she usually did when they were still living in East city. She missed the times when they were always open to each other.

Was it her lack of sensitivity towards her daughter that made Rose change now?

Molly didn’t understand.

Chapter 448: Sorry If I Hurt You

Rose was shocked when she saw her mother’s face. "M-Mom, I..."

Molly raised her hand to stop Rose from speaking. She looked into her daughter’s eyes, "I’m sorry... I was wrong, Rose. There’s no need to say anything. I understand now... from now on, I won’t talk about this kind of issue anymore, I promise you..."

"M-mom... why are you angry with me?" Rose’s voice sounded shaky when she saw how sad her mother was. Why was she suddenly angry and sad now? Even though she never refused anything she gave her.

Molly smiled at Rose and stood up from her chair, "It’s okay my dear. Your mother is not angry..." she smiled. "Now, you have to finish your lunch first..." she said, then left.

"Mom, please wait! Where are you going, Mom?" Rose panicked as she watched her mother walk away. She could feel her mother’s act was unusual — this was the first time she saw the irritated glint in her mother’s eyes.

Rose feels uneasy. She stood up from her seat, walked toward her mother, and gently grabbed her hand.

Molly halted her step. She turned to look at her daughter, "Rose Spencer, if you don’t finish your meal, I’d be furious!" said Molly while smiling at her daughter. She rubs her hair gently before continuing her words, "I’ll call you later. I have to get home. Your father needs me at home."

Worried that her mother would get angry, Rose could only agree with her orders.

"Good girl..." Molly stroked Rose’s cheek gently, then turned around. Her smile gradually faded as sadness was visible on her face. She started walking casually to avoid her daughter, knowing she would cry by now.

She was hurt to see her daughter’s teary eyes, but she was angry with her too. She felt her daughter had closed herself off her – there was some distance between them.

Now, she just wanted to go home and tried to calm her emotions. She needs Nicholas to talk about this.

After seeing her mother’s back disappear from her sight, Rose sat back but still felt uneasy. She could feel that her mother was not okay. Her mother was furious about something.

This made her anxious.

She started to eat her favorite food, which she always ate when she lived in city B with her mother. Although this is her favorite food, she can not enjoy it this time. Her mind was filled with her mother’s words earlier.

"Mother, sorry If I hurt you. I didn’t mean it..." she murmurs to herself.

Without her noticing it, her tears started to fall — she ate while crying. This strange feeling really hurt her heart. This was the first time she had made her mother sad like that. In some way, she felt her heart thorn.

At Starlight Investments.

Evan Collins leads a crucial meeting with the Directors and Executives of Starlight Investment. He was utterly oblivious to the internet and social media gossip about him and Carla Miller.

However, in the middle of the meeting, Evan saw Gavin suddenly stand up from his chair and walk towards him. Judging by how tense Gavin’s face was, he could sense something was wrong.

Evan silently heard Gavin’s report. In short, his face turned dark. He immediately stood up from his seat and walked toward the door. Everyone in the room was shocked to see their big boss looking furious.

"Gavin, continue the meeting without me..." Evan said when he arrived at the door. He then left the meeting room.

He made a call as soon as he entered his office. Standing by the window looking at the garden below. The phone connected.

"What happened out there?" Evan’s icy tone could make Oscar on the other end goosebumps.

Oscar looked at his cellphone screen, too surprised to hear his boss’ voice, and sounded displeased on the other end.

Is it a dream? No. This was definitely not a dream—he could feel his head hurt and his boss’s voice sounded real.

"B-Boss, what happened!?" Oscar asked, confused. He just woke up. Ever since New Year’s Eve, when he faced a hacker with almost the same abilities as him, he felt the need to sharpen his skills.

He never wastes time on useless things. His time is spent creating many programs. And, of course, he’s still chasing after the hacker who messed with him. He knew the person was hiding very well and avoided using the internet.

However, Oscar was in no hurry. He had already laid so many traps for him. As soon as the man went online, he would definitely catch him.

Because of that hacker, he hasn’t been getting much sleep lately. He only sleeps an hour or two a day.

And an hour ago he had fallen asleep but a special cell phone — the one his boss only knows — suddenly rang. Instantly his eyes felt refreshed.

"What the hell, Oscar!! Were you sleeping when the rumors out there surfaced again?" Evan stood by the glass wall, massaging his suddenly sore forehead. "Go check the internet and clear it for me. I need you to report in 30 minutes." He hangs up angrily.

"What gossip!?" Oscar walked fast to his study room. When he opened his laptop, he was shocked. He believed he had destroyed this photo from whoever had it on their phone or storage memory.

"What the hell!! Is this photo still on the internet? Who is the person who is bored with his life and dares to upload this photo again? Waah... this person is courting death! You bastard, I will find you and send you to your coffin!"

Oscar was sure the hacker messing up this time was the same person he was after.

"Don’t blame me. You pushed me to do this. Well, I will hack a satellite on the European continent to find you. Wherever you hide, I will find you!" Oscar continued.

He typed quickly on the keyboard with his eyes glued to the monitor screen. He will solve this problem soon — his traps have been laid worldwide.

Chapter 449: Evident

After a few minutes, Oscar’s finger dancing on the keyboard and his eyes glued to the laptop screen, suddenly a faint smile appeared on the corner of his lips.

"What the fuck!! A green hat hacker wants to mess with me!? What a stupid move, asshole!" His fingers moved faster than before.

A few minutes later, he finally stopped typing and stretched his hands upwards. After feeling his body more relaxed, he stood up from the chair.

Oscar opened the heavy curtains behind his desk. Instantly sunlight came into the room and blinded his eyes.

"Shit! It’s past noon already?" He stood on the large glass pane for a few moments, staring at the street below. Living in this apartment for a few days without getting out makes his mind numb and sluggish.

"Looks like I need to have some fun outside." Oscar continued as a faint smirk appeared on his face.

He returned to his desk, took out his cell phone, and called someone.

"Sam! What are you doing, brother?" The cheering tone and weird greeting surprised Sam on the other end.

What with that cheery tone? Did someone steal Oscar’s phone? Thought Sam curiously.

"What else? I’m working, of course! Okay, cut the crap, Oscar. What did you do wrong now?"

After the past few days, Sam is still surprised to receive Oscar’s phone call. This man refused to meet anyone, including him. And he also didn’t come to headquarters. He just stayed in his apartment.

"Brother, the sky is blue. It’s the perfect time for us to have fun outside, right!?"

Oscar is in a good mood. He wants to go out to catch the hacker who uploaded the picture. He has the hacker’s location and needs Sam to take the lead and capture the man for interrogation.

Sam, sitting in his office at the Silver phoenix base camp, looked out the window. He frowned. Looking at the gloomy, cloudy sky.

Was Oscar short-sighted because he had buried himself in the darkness so long that he could no longer distinguish between two different things!?

Sam is confused.

"Blue sky? Where is that exactly?" Sam was tempted to know if Oscar was still sane or not. Maybe he was too stressed because he knew his enemy was equal to his abilities.

"I’ll explain later. Just pick me up now..." Oscar replied impatiently.

"Shit!! This Oscar has lost his mind. I better not get involved with him today." Sam talks to himself. Then he clears his throat before saying,

"Sorry, bro, I can’t. I’m busy with other tasks." Sam refuses. He would rather stay at base camp and play FIFA games than follow this weird Oscar — punishment awaits them if they get into trouble.

"Are you sure?" Oscar was not pleased to hear Sam’s answer.

"Yeah. I’m positive!"

"Alright then, your loss!" Oscar took a deep breath before continuing, "Even though I would like to invite you to catch the hacker, well... this assignment from the big boss. Fine then, bro, bye..."

"W-A-I-T!" Roar Sam.

"What?" Oscar grinned. This stupid Sam only cares about assignments from Big Boss.

"I’ll be at your place in 20 minutes."

"Make it 15!"

"Deal!"

Beep.

Oscar chuckled, looking at his phone as soon as the connection ended.

"What a weird brother..." Oscar muttered while heading to the bathroom. He needs a good shower to play outside.

****

While at Starlight Investment.

Evan, call Rose’s cellphone.

Unusually, Rose’s cell phone was not picked up even though she had called five times. This had never happened before since they got married. He feels worried.

"She must be irritated!" Evan clenched his fists and stared at the gloomy sky outside. "Unbelievable. How could the sky also turn gloomy like my heart right now?"

Evan walked out of his office without saying a word. This was something he couldn’t ignore. He had to go back and coax his sullen little wife.

As Evan walked towards the elevator, Gavin came out of the meeting room simultaneously. He asks Gavin to prepare the car.

Gavin followed Evan to the elevator. He understood Evan was having trouble but had he forgotten that they were supposed to have another meeting after lunch?

"Where are we going, boss?" Gavin asked.

"Misty Mountain. I have to coax your lady boss. Ah, Gavin, you don’t have to follow me." Evan loosened his tie as he entered the elevator. He knew his wife would be upset to see the news again. Evan also feels the same — no words can describe how angry he feels now. To whoever did this, he will show no mercy. He will decimate them!

Gavin was pensive for a moment hearing his boss’ words, and when he gained his sense, the elevator door had closed. He was speechless. He cursed himself because he didn’t ask about the meeting after lunch before his boss left.

****

After a few minutes, a Maybach headed fast toward Misty Mountain. Evan’s mind was only on his wife. He closed his eyes, trying to calm his mind. But then, his cell phone rang, distracting him from trying to calm down.

"Speak, Oscar!" He knew Oscar would get the results of his investigation.

"Boss, I found the hacker. He is just a lowly Green Hat*, and I have cleaned up all the pictures...."

"Capture him at once!" Even though Evan was happy that the hacker was caught. But he was still not satisfied because until now, the hacker who had escaped had not been found.

"Sure, boss. I’m on my way to the location with Sam. We’ll take him to the usual place..." Oscar replied happily.

"Fine, do what you have to do. And, Oscar, you ensure this kind of thing does not appear on the internet again. My wife will be sulky if she reads that news again. Get it!?"

"Aye, boss." Oscar could understand. Lady Boss must be annoyed. "Ugh! Boss, something’s interesting. Do you want to know the person behind the hacker..."

"Who!?"

"The movie star, Carla Miller," Oscar answered carefully. He knew his big boss had a strange story about that woman. Afraid he will be angry hearing that woman’s name.

Instantly Evan’s face turned dark, annoyed hearing that name.

****

*Green Hat = New, unskilled hacker

Chapter 450: Fight

Instantly Evan’s face turned dark, annoyed hearing that name.

Oscar found no evidence in the first case that the woman was involved. However, Evan had initially suspected that Carla Miller had messed with him. Now that they had proof, Evan could carry out his next plan, destroy that bitch!

That stupid woman finally showed herself. How pathetic!

"What do you want me to do with her, boss?" Oscar asked again.

"Do the next plan! Don’t let her return to this industry." Evan would not tolerate someone daring to mess with him. What more if that woman was trying to hurt his wife? He wouldn’t allow that.

"Aye, Boss! Consider it done."

After Evan ended the call with Oscar. He made a phone call to Sean. But, after the call ended, Sean didn’t answer his call.

He sent a text instead.

[Evan:] Sean, I have proof that the woman was involved. Please, do whatever you want to get our revenge back on her. I will hear the good news from you, brother!

****

An hour before, on Misty Mountain, Rose and Evan’s house.

After finishing her lunch, Rose returned to her room. She wanted to check the news on the internet.

Is the news still there?

Rose thought Evan already knew about the rumors, but they were still there. For some reason, she was starting to feel exhausted with this kind of news — even though she believed Evan would never betray her.

One of the reasons she didn’t want to become a singer in her past life was that she couldn’t stand reading netizen comments.

Her heart is too sensitive. If someone says terrible things about her, she will feel hurt. It is also the reason she is not active on social media. Until now, her Instagram has only one photo uploaded.

Rose is in a dilemma. Does she need to read netizen comments or not?

After pondering for a while, her curiosity won.

She sat on the couch, staring at the laptop on her lap. Her eyes lingered on the news about Carla Miller with Evan. Before long, her face turned ugly, and her hands were slightly shaking. But she still continued scrolling down the article.

She couldn’t maintain her composure as her eyes witnessed so many malicious comments — Netizens forced her husband and that bitch, Carla, to be a couple?

What a stupid A-Netz!

Rose could only swallow her own range when she read A-Netz, who wanted to matchmake Carla Miller with Evan. She was tempted to create fake accounts and write comments, "Evan Collins is married, stop setting him up with Carla Miller!"

However, Rose’s common sense forbade her from dragging herself down to the level of the A-Netz, who always kept their brains in the back of their head. Their lives are too busy taking care of other people’s business. How pathetic!

Tired of reading useless comments, Rose closed her laptop and looked for her cell phone. Maybe Evan was calling her, but she was shocked when she saw her battery was zero.

"Gosh! Today is not my day. Nothing is right!?" Rose muttered while charging her phone.

It was only half a day, but she felt her emotions already so volatile, like riding a roller coaster. Three problems appear in only one day; Gossip news about Carla Miller dragging her husband’s name, her mother suddenly getting mad at her, and her mind being distracted by pregnancy.

It’s very tiring.

"Should I go to the hospital and ask for IVF!? In Vitro Fertilization...It sounds frightening," Rose suddenly froze, and the hair on the back of her neck stood. She felt goosebumps hearing her own words.

Rose gently slapped her mouth a few times — How dare she have a thought like that?

"Damn you, stupid Rose! You’re only 23 years old, and you’ve only been married for a few months. Why have you thought of doing the newly invented and revolutionary IVF method to get pregnant?" Rose took her anger out on himself.

"No! You should never have done that stupid, Rose Spencer! You know, IVF is something that isn’t easy to do. It’s not an easy process, and there’s much to do. You better put that thought away!"

The natural way to have children is the correct one. She needs to have sex with Evan when her fertile period arrives and pray to God, may God will bless her with pregnancy sooner.

After being shocked by her own thoughts, at this point, Rose could feel her brain was too tired to think anything. She decided to sleep.

Hoping that when she wakes up, she’ll forget everything about a bunch of shameless and crazy A-Netz comment who succeeds in torturing her heart and mind.

Also, her mother’s anger will subside. She has plans to ask Evan to visit her parents’ house. She needed to coax her angry mother.

*****

Soon Evan’s car stopped right in front of the main entrance.

"Young Master..." Paul Martin greeted Evan. His face looked worried after he heard about what happened to the Young Madam — she fought with her mother.

Evan nodded slightly.

"Where’s my wife?" Evan was a little worried after he didn’t see Rose waiting for him at the entrance. Something she used to do when she heard his car approaching, she would run to the gate and greet him.

"The young madam is in the bedroom. Laura said she is sleeping now." Paul replied while following Evan’s wide steps to enter the house. He could feel his young master’s aura slightly cold like he was in a bad mood. It confused him about whether to tell him about the lunch incident.

"She’s sleeping? What time is it?" Evan was taken aback. Hadn’t she just had lunch with her mother? Why is she sleeping now? It confused him.

"Yes, young master."

"Where’s my mother-in-law?"

"She went back after the young madam had lunch. I... I heard they fought." Paul decides to tell the truth.

Suddenly Evan stopped right in front of the primary bedroom door. He turned to look at Paul, "Fight? My wife fought with her mother?"

Something Evan never imagined would happen. He knew very well how strong the bond between his wife and mother-in-law was. It’s impossible if they fight.
