Ch. 451..455: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 451-455
Chapter 451: Knows
Evan turned to look at Paul, "Fight? My wife fought with her mother?"
Something Evan never imagined would happen. He knew very well how strong the bond between his wife and mother-in-law was. It’s impossible if they fight.
"Y-Yes, Young Master," Paul replied.
"About what?"
"I’m sorry I didn’t hear what they were arguing about. However, Mrs. Spencer left the house while the Young Madam had lunch. This was odd because usually, Mrs. Spencer would stay here with her daughter, and they would end the day with afternoon tea...." Paul explained.
Evan pondered momentarily, "Maybe my mother-in-law has some urgent business." He still couldn’t believe his wife would clash with her mother.
"Young Master, one of the staff, saw Mrs. Spencer crying while getting in the car, and... Laura also saw Young Madam crying." Paul’s words made Evan feel tense. Now he believes something happened between his wife and in-laws.
"Mhm... well, you may go now." Evan dismissed Paul and entered the bedroom.
Evan’s gaze fell on the petite woman sleeping on the bed. Slowly he approached the bed. He stood at the end of the bed in silence. For a moment, he stared at the woman he loved so much, with countless questions starting to fill his mind.
"What exactly happens till you make your mother angry?" He murmurs silently.
He saw her forehead crease in her sleep. It looked like she had a bad dream.
Evan slowly walked to the side of the bed and then gently covered her with the blanket so his movements wouldn’t wake her. His eyes were still on her delicate face — she looked so beautiful in her sleep.
Satisfied to see Rose’s face, he leaned down and kissed right between her eyebrows.
Then, Evan stood up. He took off his suit and tie, rolled his sleeves up to his elbows, and walked to a study table in the corner. He needed to check something, so he used his wife’s laptop. His finger movements were so fast only powerful hackers had that kind of ability, not even Oscar Jennings.
After a few seconds, his finger stopped after retrieving the CCTV footage from the dining room.
He put on earphones and heard his wife’s conversation with his mother-in-law. After a few minutes passed, his face darkened.
Evan took a deep breath and then turned over to the bed. He saw she was still fast asleep. A smile appeared on his face, but no matter how much he smiled, it never reached his eyes and the emotion on his face never really left his heart.
Now, he knew why his wife was stressed recently. And also in a bad mood. Apparently, her mother was bothering her with the pregnancy — he needed to talk to his father-in-law.
Evan couldn’t let his wife’s mental health suffer because of pregnancy matters.
However, Evan didn’t dare speak directly to Molly. Although he could guess why Molly was acting like that to Rose because she felt lonely after what she had been through with her daughter so far — Molly wants to expand her family. But, it seems Molly didn’t realize that what she was doing was making her daughter depressed.
Evan decided to call Nicholas now, but before he could turn off the laptop, his eyes fell on the browser. He was surprised to see Rose’s browser history.
He felt his blood boil. No wonder his wife feels stressed. Today, a lot has happened to her; She reads the trash news about Carla Miller and browses about IVF.
His face turned redder and redder as if his blood vessels were about to burst.
****
Next Day.
Carla Miller has been burying herself in her apartment since yesterday. She didn’t understand why the gossip news about her and Evan suddenly disappeared!?
She had paid dearly for a hacker, to help her upload photos and create an article about the gossip she was dating Evan. Surprisingly, all the articles vanished and the backup pictures on her cell phone also disappeared without a trace.
She didn’t understand much about hackers, but she could guess someone had hacked her gadgets. Not a single photo of her and Evan remained on her devices. This scares her to death.
Carla felt like she was experiencing Deja Vu!
Last year when Willard Harper helped her meet Evan at the airport, she made headlines on all the news portals. Her name became a trending topic on several major social media in Astington. But the news didn’t last long, disappearing without a trace just a few hours after the uproar on the internet.
Just like now, the news about her only lasted a few hours after it was uploaded. She becomes worried and scared. She can feel she’s in big trouble — she’s paying a hacker to do this. And the hacker also disappeared. She can’t contact him.
Before deciding to contact the hacker, Carla tried to consult with Willard Harper. Still, since New Year’s Eve, Willard has disappeared. She couldn’t reach him at all.
Carla also tried to contact Willard Harper through his manager. However, Lee, Willard’s manager, said; Willard was in bad condition, so his doctor prohibited him from carrying out activities, especially those related to the entertainment industry.
Back then, Carla had no choice but to do it herself — paying the hacker she knew.
Now she really regrets contacting hackers and creating this gossip. And what annoyed her even more, the hacker man suddenly disappeared. She thought all her plans would smoothly go if she paid a hacker to do the deed, but things fell apart.
"I’m doomed!! No one can help me now! Not even my management. They turned their backs on me!"
Carla felt as if there was something stuck in her chest, and she felt her breaths become shorter.
"They’re a bunch of hungry geezers. They’re shameless. After they made so much money from me, they’re leaving me alone after I got into trouble? It looks like I’ll take them down if they don’t help me..."
She took out her cell phone and dialed her manager’s number. "Where are you? Come to my place now!!"
Chapter 452: The Secret
Carla took out her cell phone and dialed her Manager, "Where are you? Come to my place now!!"
"I can’t, Carla. It’s hard to get into your apartment."
"Why so?" This was the first time she heard her Manager disobey. Gosh! Even the Manager, who used to work for her since the beginning of her career, started ignoring her too? She felt betrayed.
"Lots of reporters are camped downstairs. But don’t worry, I’ll find a way to get to you!"
"WHAT? What happened? Why did they come here?"
Carla was confused. Was this because of the gossip with Evan? Impossible. She remembers, in the past, if something like this happened, all reporters would come to her office instead. This is new. Something may occur and she felt curious.
There was a long silence.
The Manager didn’t answer Carla.
"Tell me what happened?" Her voice sounded as stiff as her heart at this moment.
"Carla, listen... don’t go online to check social media or news. And don’t go anywhere. Just stay in your house. Or..."
After the call ends.
Carla felt even more worried. No, this is not a worry but a fear after hearing from her Manager; there is gossip about her that could end her career as a movie star. Her Manager asked her not to watch the news, see the internet, or upload something on social media for a while.
The news circulating out there is clearly not about her gossip with Evan but other news — something more profound than that. When she tried to find out from her Manager, that girl didn’t say a word. She sounded terrified.
Her Manager’s attitude made Carla even more curious. She was tempted to check the news.
"You might end up in a mental hospital if you read the news!" Her Manager’s stern warning put a stop to her curiosity. Well, at this point.
Carla dragged her limp legs to the glass window to see what was happening outside.
She was stunned when she saw many reporters gather in front of her apartment building and several security guards asking them to leave the Apartment area. However, even though the security guard managed to chase them away, the journalists did not move out. They remained outside the apartment gate, on the side of the road, complete with a long-lens camera.
Their actions made it difficult for residents or guests who wanted to enter the apartment. No wonder her Manager couldn’t get in—journalists knew her face and vehicle. Even if she came by taxi, reporters would know.
"What happened!?" Carla felt more curious and angry at the same time. How did news about her get these reporters to gather at her house so early?
Staring at the reporters outside could make Carla’s mind perplexed.
After an hour had passed, her curiosity won.
She took her personal cell phone and turned it on. When she opened her Instagram, her hands were shaking, seeing so many notifications from Instagram.
Before she could read her inbox, her phone’s power suddenly went out — the phone’s screen went dark.
Carla got up from the sofa and went to her study room.
After she turned on the laptop, she visited a gossip news website. Her heart sank with what she read - Top five headlines. All are about her, and the title made her agree with her Manager. The news could end her career.
[ Movie Star Carla Miller Drunk While Driving ]
Still clear in her mind, last year, she was arrested by the police for driving while drunk and hitting someone. But, her boss bribed the officer and the victim to close this case.
"Why did this case appear on the internet? Who leaked it?" Her hands were shaking to click on the news.
Carla turned pale when she saw her face appear in the clear CCTV footage. She couldn’t understand why the CCTV footage had emerged on the internet. Supposedly, all records about this case are apparent in the police database.
However, Carla didn’t have time to breathe correctly as another article appeared before her eyes, [Movie Star, Carla Miller Attends Sex Party At Sin Club]
"This!? How could someone know about this?"
Not many people know about this secret society—only the members of it. Who dares to leak it??
Hard to believe to see all the darkest secrets in her life now become public consumption. How did this all happen? She could guess someone had smeared her reputation. But who?
Carla felt all her limbs go numb. She couldn’t think properly as her mind felt hazy. No language could describe how shocked she was at this moment.
The torture doesn’t stop there. This time, she might end up in the Emergency Room with a heart attack when her eyes fell on another news article,
[Carla Miller slept with the Director to get the Role! ]
All the gossip news was too much for Carla’s heart to bear. She threw her phone on the marble floor and heard a ’crack’ sound in the background.
Feeling pressured, she gripped her hair with both hands and buried her head between her knees. It felt like her breath was getting shorter, a lack of oxygen. Her face turned red as her anger and fear engulfed her.
"Hacker!! Yes, that hacker, I have to find him. Only he can help me escape from this torment..."
Carla finds her miserable cell phone in the corner with cracked screen. Luckily it can still be used.
While pacing, she dialed the hacker’s number.
"Pick... Pick up! Please pick up!!"
But until the last ring, the hacker didn’t pick up.
"Did he avoid me on purpose because I paid too little? Should I send him some more money?"
Still pacing, she kept trying to call the hacker. Occasionally she would curse the man because he ignored her calls.
After almost twenty times she dialed the number, she could no longer call the number. She could only hear the sound ’tut.’
It’s weird.
Carla halted her step and stared at the broken cell phone in her hand. Traces, anger, fear, and exhaustion were mixed in the look in her eyes.
She clutched her phone tightly.
"H-He B-Blocked me?" Her roar echoed throughout the room.
Chapter 453: Please Help
"H-He B-Blocked me?" Her roar echoed throughout the room. She suddenly had the urge to kill that bastard. "How dare he block me? After I gave him a lot of money?"
Carla Miller felt helpless now.
When she needed someone to help, she had no one. She was in big trouble like this, and none of her friends had contacted her. Even Willard Harper, who is considered a close friend — that man did not reply to the short messages she sent.
Only this time, Carla realized she had no real friends. All her good and close friends were fake.
Carla fell to the floor as tears rolled down her cheeks. She cried so hard until her throat hurt—she was heartbroken.
Just as she felt no one else could help her, Sean Spencer’s face suddenly came to mind.
"Sean!" A faint smile appeared on her sobbing face. "Yes, yes... Sean, he must have a way to save me. He has a strong background. He can solve my problem...." Carla wiped the tears off her cheeks.
She grabbed her phone and dialed Sean’s number. On the third ring, the phone connected.
"Carla?"
Carla’s tears grew when she heard Sean’s voice on the other end. Sean Spencer is the only man who can make her heart shake and feel in love. Nevertheless, Sean never accepted her love but never avoided it, either. They have been friends until now.
"Sean, I’m in big trouble. Only you can help me this time. Please help me..." she said between her sobs.
Not hearing Sean’s answer from the other end made Carla panic. "S-Sean, do you hear me? Hello? Are you still there? Please say something, Sean...."
"Let’s meet. Where are you?"
"Home."
"I’ll send someone to pick you up. Stay where you are."
Carla was surprised to hear Sean’s words. How did she escape from reporters? They will definitely know she left her apartment, right?
But before Carla could say anything, the connection ended.
****
Nanaban Tei Restaurant.
At a Japanese restaurant on the border of the North City and the Capital, Carla sat in a small room with a typical Japanese restaurant interior.
Her mind was too busy thinking about what to talk to Sean. She didn’t have time to see the beautiful Japanese garden behind her. Because she just stared at the tightly closed door in front of her, waiting for the figure of the highly respected man, Sean Spencer.
After several minutes of waiting, she finally heard movement from outside. She was sure it was Sean, but it turned out to be a waiter.
The waitress asked about her order, but Carla politely requested the writer to come back again after her friends arrived. She would wait for Sean first. After all, Sean had chosen this far-from-nowhere restaurant to meet.
A few minutes passed, and the man she was waiting for appeared. For a moment, she was amazed at how handsome this man was. He was only wearing a pair of black outfits and a baseball cap. His domineering aura couldn’t be ignored.
"Sean, y-you’re finally here..." Carla couldn’t help but stutter as she stood up from her chair. He greeted her back and motioned her to sit down again.
Sean caught a glimpse of Carla still wearing a black mask. She wrapped herself in a thick black coat and a red scarf around her neck. Carla also hides her hair using baseball caps. The only thing Sean could recognize were her eyes. Even then, she hid her eye color by using colored contact lenses.
"Let’s eat first before we talk. I’m starving..." Sean said while putting his long coat on the next chair. After he sat down across from Carla, he ignored her and was busy checking the menu. "What do you want to eat?" He asked without lifting his head from the menu.
"A-Anything..."
Shortly after that, Sean ordered food.
Before coming here, Sean had just returned from a mission in a remote place on the border of a neighboring country for a week. And when he returned to the base camp, he immediately checked his phone — a text message from Evan greeted him.
[Evan] Sean, I have proof that the woman was involved. Please, do whatever you want to get our revenge back on her. I will hear the good news from you, brother!
And at the right time, this girl contacted him. Of course, Sean wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to awaken this sly woman from her delusion. All this time, she thought that Evan still had a crush on her and that she still had a chance to win back Evan’s heart.
How stupid she is.
Sean didn’t want to spend too long with this woman, but he was famished now. He needed to eat to clear his head. So that he doesn’t forget his purpose in meeting this woman — to tell her the truth.
It didn’t take long for Sean to finish his dinner.
Meanwhile, Carla didn’t touch her sushi at all. She just drank her tea while patiently waiting for Sean to finish dinner.
Right now, Carla really needed this man to help solve her problem. So, she would follow all his orders, including being patient and not talking while eating. But, even though she could stop speaking, her heart and mind felt like they would explode.
The news about her is increasing on the internet and social media. The media still camp in front of her apartment. She had no chance to leave her house. Even though her manager couldn’t get past the reporters.
Carla’s eyes fell on Sean, who was still eating quietly.
How did this man manage to pick her up without the media knowing?
She didn’t know how Sean did it, but she was grateful. Now, she could leave her house. She would go to a secluded place to live in peace and wait until everyone forgot about her before she made her comeback to this industry — this is her plan.
"What do you need from me?" asked Sean in his deep husky voice.
Chapter 454: Play With Fire
"What do you need from me?" asked Sean in his deep husky voice.
Carla sat up straighter.
"D-Did you read the news out there?" She asked before answering. She needed to know how much he knew about the gossip news out there.
Carla wished Sean hadn’t read about the news — she would feel embarrassed if this man found out. But that’s impossible, right!? Because now, everything about her dark secret is on the internet. Sean must have read it.
She was still curious as to who did it. Who tried to destroy her?
Whoever it was, she was sure that person was trying to take advantage when the rumors about her and Evan surfaced on the internet. That person must be her rival in this industry. After this matter was over, she would look for that person. She will take revenge.
"I just came back from my mission. I don’t have time to read the news...." Of course, he lied to her. He knows everything. He wants to play along with her game. What does she want this time?
Carla was startled and glad to hear that. Turns out Sean is still not aware of it. This was her chance to get him on her side.
"What’s the news you are talking about?" Sean asked, then took a sip of his tea.
"S-Sean... I need your help. You, you must help me." Carla’s soft voice trembled like she was holding back her tears. She lowered her head even lower while pretending to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Sean listened silently. Wanting to see how far this white lotus-type woman will act!?
"Someone is trying to bring me down. There are so many negative things about me circulating on the internet, but all the news is untrue. I know there are people out there who are doing this, wanting to ruin my career..."
Carla’s voice trembled.
If someone didn’t know this woman’s nature, they would believe she was a victim. Her acting is convincing for the untrained eyes and ears. No wonder she ever got an Oscar nomination.
Sean was lost for words. This woman knows all the news is accurate, but she still denies it. What a shameless and scheming woman.
"Sean, you have to help me. Help to delete all the news on the internet for me. If this news is still spread, then my career will definitely end here..." she looked at Sean with her teary eyes. "Please, Sean, only you can help me now."
"Why don’t you ask your office? They have a good PR and Legal team, don’t they?" Sean casually asked. "You can sue everyone who posts fake news."
Blood drains from Carla’s face when hearing his words — She knows all the news is real.
"Earlier, you said all the news was untrue... So what are you afraid of?" Sean raises his brow, looking sharply at her.
Carla wanted to slap herself for her stupidity and for lying to Sean. Now, she had no choice but to continue what she had been doing.
"My company and my manager abandoned me. They believed the news and are trying to cut ties with me now. They... betrayed me. That’s why I have no other choice but to contact you..." Her sobs grew louder. Made Sean sick to hear all of her words.
"Unbelievable, this woman thinks I’m a stupid guy who would believe her so easily. I can see so many lies running down your face. You can’t hide it from me bitch!" Sean could only curse this stupid woman in his heart.
Sean maintained his calm expression, pretending to sympathize with her even though he was about to puke inside his mind.
"They... they betrayed me, Sean. They refused to help me. You’re the only person who can help me. You’re my last hope, Sean..." her sobs grew. Making Sean even more fed up.
He could literally vomit if he listened too long and saw her fantastic acting. This woman is truly talented. Too bad her career is coming to an end.
"Carla, sorry, I’m just a regular soldier. I don’t have any power to help you." Sean’s fake-sorry smile graces his handsome face while trying to hold his laugh when he sees Carla’s face turn grim.
How could Sean Spencer say he was powerless? Impossible. This man didn’t want to help her, so he made a random excuse.
"You don’t need to lie, Sean. If you don’t want to help me, just say it..." Carla said softly while holding back tears. Slowly she lowered her head, unable to meet his eyes.
After a few moments of silence, she continued saying. "I apologize to you if I ever made you fight with Evan. I’m sorry! But, all this time, I only liked you, Sean. Even when Evan still pursued me. I never accepted him..." her hands gripped her coat tightly.
She slowly raised her head and looked at him with bright eyes before saying, "When I met Evan in New York, I remained uninterested in him. That day, he asked me to have dinner together but I refused his request... the gossip out there is untrue. I didn’t accept Evan. We are not dating. Because only you in my heart. You are the only man I like, Sean!"
Carla’s voice is so gentle. Sean was almost bewitched by her words. Perhaps he would have believed what she had just said if he didn’t know the truth.
Tsk, this woman, how could she twist her story like that? How could Evan still like her when Evan already has a wife who is beautiful, intelligent, and has a strong background like her cousin Rose Spencer!?
Only a fool could do that. And he staunchly believes Evan is not a fool.
Damn!! This woman is delusional.
"Don’t play with fire if you can’t handle the heat, Carla!" His cold voice makes Carla anxious and fearful that Sean knows she is lying.
Sean could see the girl’s frightening look. He crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the back of the chair, sitting relaxed with a grin plastered on his face.
Chapter 455: Bitter Truth (1)
Carla’s face turned ashen, seeing how serious Sean was.
"W-What do you mean, Sean?" She asked.
"Nothing!" A devilish smile appears on his face.
Sean’s smile confused Carla. This man doesn’t know that she’s lying... Or does he?
Carla wanted to crack Sean’s brains, to know what he was thinking. It was hard to read what was going through his mind right now.
"Sean, what should I do? Because you can’t help me... Now, I have no one to rely on." She muttered softly as her tears started flowing again, running down her cheeks, "Is this really the end of my career?" She met his eyes, but the man ignored her pitiful look.
Only Carla’s sobs could be heard in the room for a few moments. Sean cast his eyes on the garden, thinking of something.
"But, I think I know who can help you..." Sean said.
Carla’s sobs stopped. She wiped away her tears and sat up straighter, looking at Sean with curious eyes. "Who? Allow me to meet that person..." she suddenly felt that there was hope for her. This is not the end of her career.
Sean looked at Carla, but he didn’t say anything. He just stared at her without showing any expression on his face.
Carla immediately stood up from her seat. She approached Sean and knelt right beside him.
She swallowed her anger before saying, "Sean, I’m begging you... Please do me a favor. Can you arrange a time to meet that person? Please. If he can come now, that would be best."
Her hands clenched tightly over her knees. It felt like she couldn’t even lift her head from embarrassing herself in front of this man.
This was the first time she had begged someone this lowly. But, right now, she has no other choice. This is the only way to get out of this mess, to hell with all her images. Right now, she just wanted all this gossip to dissipate.
If Sean’s friend can help her, she will take a break from this industry. She would disappear for a few years and return after all the gossip about her had been forgotten.
Sean almost laughed out loud when he saw Carla, who usually maintained a graceful and calm demeanor, kneeling in front of him like this. What he witnessed now was hilarious — if Evan saw this woman do this, he guaranteed his cousin would be thrilled.
"Carla, don’t do this..." Sean grabbed Carla’s shoulder and forced her to stand up. But the woman insisted on kneeling. So, he let it be. If Carla had seen Sean’s face at this moment, she would have been shocked to see his mocking smile frame his face.
"I’m not standing until you help me meet that person. Please, help me just this once..." she lifted her head to meet Sean’s eyes. "Mhm... Sean, please... Please call that person."
Sean took a deep breath as he leaned back in his chair.
He said, "Carla, even though I wanted to help you, I didn’t think that man wanted to help you..." Sean said calmly, but in his heart, he held back his laughter, amused by how desperate Carla’s expression was.
"Huh!? Why? Why do you think like that?" Carla held Sean’s feet, trying to convince him one more time. "Sean, please arrange a meeting with him. Whether he will help me or not, we will see, but for now, the important thing is I want to meet him first."
She would give that person a significant amount of money if he could erase all her digital gossip footprints. She had no other way. Her dumbass hacker disappeared without a trace. Likewise, Willard Harper, who usually helped her, is now gone.
She would be grateful if Sean could introduce her to that person. She believes the person is a reliable hacker, judging from Sean’s confidence.
"Still, he will never help you!"
Carla was confused.
"Can you call him? Let me talk to him." If she couldn’t meet, she would beg her over the phone. She will offer her entire fortune if need be.
Sean’s gentle eyes turned sharp, looking at Carla, "It’s useless, Carla. That man is Evan Collins. He will never help you!"
Carla could feel a chill all over her spine hearing that name.
Evan Collins!? A man who can help me, Evan Collins? Suddenly her throat felt like it was being sliced with a sharp dagger. For a moment she lost her ability to speak, and her thoughts were in turmoil.
How could she ask Evan Collins for help? While she has been creating fake news about their relationship. Obviously, the man already knew she was behind the gossip news.
This was the end of her career. Suddenly, Carla felt extreme shortness of breath, as if someone was crushing her chest. Her head was bowed, staring at the wooden floor while crying silently.
"You should stop here, Carla." Sean’s voice turned sharp, "I told you before, you should forget about him. But you are still playing with fire, trying to create a love line between you and him. What do you expect from him?"
Carla listened silently.
"He will never like you...."
She trembled as she burst into tears. She took Sean’s hand, "S-Sean, Sean, I’m sorry. I love him so much. That’s why I had no choice but to do that..."
Sean shook off Carla’s hand. He stood up from his chair and walked towards the window. His eyes narrowed to the Japanese garden outside.
"This is your end, Carla Miller. No one can help you!" Sean’s cold voice was like a death note for Carla.
She looked at Sean, who was standing by the window.
"S-Sean, let me see him! I want to apologize to him..." Carla stood up from the floor. With slow steps, she approached Sean. "Please, Sean, I know Evan doesn’t like me anymore. At least let me meet him, okay!?"
Sean glanced at Carla, who was now standing beside him. He turned to face her.
"Do you know Carla..." before Sean could finish his words, Carla retorted.
