Chapter 456: Bitter Truth (2)

"Do you know Carla..." before Sean could finish his words, Carla retorted.

Carla wiped away her tears, trying to calm her mind. Only Evan can help her. Even though Evan doesn’t like her anymore, she believes Evan still has a soft feeling toward her, right? What’s more, until now, he is not married.

She still has a chance — If she could meet and talk to him, perhaps the feelings he had buried in his heart would appear. She is Evan’s first love, after all.

"Sean, please, call him for me. I’ll take care of the rest... I’ll try to win his heart back, Sean. I can feel Evan still loves me... I’m his first love!" Carla grabbed Sean’s hand, but before she could touch his hand, Sean brushed it away.

She froze. Why, why did Sean hate her now?

Sean opened his mouth but failed to utter a sound. He was utterly speechless by this bitch shamelessness.

"Please Sean, help me..."

"I told you, this is your end, for both; your career and your fantasy to get Evan’s love. Because..." Sean paused, wanting to torture this stupid woman who was dying to hear his words.

After Sean was satisfied, he continued, "Evan Collins is a married man. So you don’t even have a chance to win his heart now. You’re just a lowly artist who sells bodies for roles! You don’t deserve to become Ms. Collins...."

Carla felt as if the sky was falling on her. Countless questions now fill her mind; Evan is married? Marry? With who? Since when? Why is there no news appearing on the internet!? Does Willard know about this?

"Do you want to know who he married?" Sean stopped again, trying to make this woman more curious. He continued after seeing her nod, "His wife is Rose Spencer, my cousin."

Rose Spencer?

Carla had heard that name before. Her mind reels back to remember where she heard that name. After a few seconds, she finally remembered — the woman she saw at Aidan’s Restaurant.

Carla’s eyes widened in surprise, looking at Sean.

"Y-You mean the woman we meet...."

"Yeah... that’s right. That woman is Evan Collins’ wife. They married last year."

Carla’s tongue tie.

"So what you said before that Evan tried to hit you in New York was a lie, right!? Carla, you are really a bitch! How can you lightly claim something like that? Compared to my cousin, you are nothing. She is a natural beauty, intelligent and elegant. On top of that, she has Spencer behind her name, and she is a successful businesswoman too..."

Sean couldn’t contain his anger anymore. He told her everything to make her wake up from her delusions.

"And you must know, Evan Collins loves his wife so much. So what are you doing now, make him angry? Consider this your punishment because you provoked the wrong person. I suggest you disappear from this country... You have no future here!"

This shocking news hit Carla Miller hard. All this time, she thought Evan was not married, but she still had a chance to win his heart again. But, now everything was over for her — She had no way to win Evan’s heart back.

Carla’s legs felt weak, unable to support her body. She fell to the floor. Her face looked down at the wooden floor in front of her. She couldn’t see Sean’s face anymore, as she felt so embarrassed and humiliated in front of him.

Sean, grinning, saw Carla Miller slumped on the floor.

"Carla Miller, this is the last we see each other. From now on, pretend we never knew each other!" Sean said then left the room, leaving Carla, who was still sobbing in her place.

He had known Carla Miller for over ten years before she made her way to becoming a movie star. At first, this girl was kind. However, after she became famous, her attitude began to change — she started to choose friends.

In the past, her bad attitude towards Evan — who disguised himself as an ordinary person — made Sean feel uncomfortable being friends with Carla. It’s hard to avoid her. Maybe, because they had been friends for so long that he had no strong reason to break their friendship.

Now, it’s all over.

Sean was relieved to no longer have a relationship with her.

When Sean got in the car, he immediately called someone, "Brother, it’s over. That woman will disappear from your life. Well, from my life too..."

"Thank you, brother!" Evan Collins replied as if uninterested in hearing that. For him, Carla Miller is no longer in his mind and heart for too long.

"Okay, I’ll go back to my base camp now. Send my regards to my sister."

Evan ends up calling.

After adjusting his expression, he got into the car and sat behind the wheel.

"Who?"

Evan looked at his wife beside him. She looks adorable looking at him while her mouth is busy chewing her snacks.

"Sean..."

"Is there any problem?" Rose asked again after swallowing her snacks.

Evan didn’t answer right away. He started the car. After the vehicle moved, he glanced at her before saying, "Nothing else. We exchanged greetings. He sent greetings to you too."

"He’s been too busy lately. I heard from my mom, Auntie was complaining because Sean rarely came home..." Rose shook her head and then started eating the snacks her mother gave her.

"I will ask him to visit us," he said.

"Yeah, you have to! Ugh, hubby, how about vacation with our friends?" Rose felt happy when this thought came to her mind. After all the recent drama between her and her family, she thought she needed an extended vacation.

"Fine, I’ll arrange it. But we better go on vacation in March, it’s still too cold now. Besides, your hand isn’t fully healed yet..."

"I’m sure the doctors will allow me to take a vacation," said Rose. She can’t wait to have her cast removed tomorrow. It’s been two months since her arm was cast and restrained from moving freely.

Chapter 457: Back To Office

A few Days Later.

The day Rose had been waiting for had finally arrived. The day she no longer restricted by the cast, and her hand was fully healed

Unfortunately, even though her hand has healed, she still can’t go to shooting practice and physical training with her grandfather because her husband and the doctors forbid her to do that kind of activity. Evan only allowed her to go to the office.

Being at home for almost two months made her feel bored. She really missed her office and her goofy friends — she missed their dry humor.

And today she will go to the office. She felt excited to start working again despite the many pending tasks that would welcome her first day in the office. Oliver has just sent her an email with so many to-do lists.

Evan and Rose went to the office together. And behind the wheel was Sam — the poor fellow had finally returned to his duties as Rose’s driver.

"Wife, I’ll come to your office at three. So we can go home early and have dinner at home." Evan said while stroking her hair gently.

"Ooh, sounds good. So, I can have lunch with Oliver and the others." She already plans to have fun with all of them.

Evan nodded. He didn’t mind his wife having lunch with her best friend.

"But you must remember, don’t force yourself to work hard..." then he looked at Sam, who was driving the car in silence. "Sam, make sure my wife doesn’t have much to do. You have to help her!"

"I will, Boss. Don’t worry..." Sam said excitedly. After months of not working under his lady boss, he feels lonely at the base camp. He also misses Oliver and the others.

"Wife, if Oliver overloads you with office work, let me know. I will make him suffer..." Evan’s harsh tone could make her feel shivers. She immediately hid her iPad. The to-do list she’d just been reading was so packed.

It wasn’t long before their car arrived at Wilson Tower. Evan immediately changed to his vehicle that Gavin was driving behind Rose’s car — after Evan’s car drove away, Rose asked Sam to go up to the top floor.

Not much had changed since the last time Rose came to her office, thirty floors. However, she finds lots of fresh flowers in her office on the conference table, complete with welcome cards from Oliver and the others.

"What a waste. Why did the guys buy the flowers separately?" Rose chuckled, looking at the four large bouquets. She slowly walked over to the meeting table and read the welcome cards from all of them.

Rose couldn’t hide her smile after reading their words.

[Boss, welcome back. We got to celebrate this special day at one of the most expensive restaurants in the city - Danny. PS: Of course you paid!]

[You’re finally back! Can I apply for leave for a month? - Oliver ]

Rose smirked, "Evan will kill you if he finds out about this!" She muttered and put Oliver’s card back in the flowers.

[Hope these flowers can brighten up your day, Boss. Don’t forget we celebrate this joyful day with a party! - James ]

[Rose, welcome back. Please don’t get hurt again. It’s hard to handle the others without you. I need you here! — Randy ]

"Now you know, Randy!! Those guys are really hard to deal with..." Rose shook her head and started sitting at her desk while focusing on reading something on her desktop.

Rose was so immersed in her work that she had not noticed a man leaning against the doorframe looking at her all this time.

Oliver smiled, looking at Rose. He knocked on the door a few times, but she didn’t seem to hear at all. Oliver decided to enter the room and sat on the couch, reading something on his cell phone. He will wait a moment before interrupting her.

A few minutes passed, and the girl was still immersed in her work. He cleared his throat to get her attention, but she remained unmoved.

"Rose Spencer, what are you doing!?" Finally, Oliver asked her in a loud tone.

Rose was surprised when she heard Oliver’s voice. "Oh shit!! Oliver Hester, when were you there?" She glared at him.

"It’s enough to make me take my beautiful nap here, boss!" He smirked.

"You’re lying!!" She slowly stood from her seat and joined Oliver.

"Tsk, tsk... I do wait for you that long. What kept you so busy that you didn’t notice me knocking on the door?" He was sure he didn’t give her much work. And all the work he sent was just a simple report she needed to read.

"The stock market. This month something big is going to happen in the stock market..." Rose smiled, thinking of her past memories. This month, she will make a lot of money from underdog companies — their stocks will be bullish in late February.

It isn’t just one company. There are several companies that Rose has marked to acquire. This year the company will experience a turnaround story, and its share price will increase — stock price will be bullish many times. Shareholders who buy these shares at an attractive price will become the new rich people in this country.

She would not want to miss this opportunity. That’s why the first thing she did when she got to the office was research and list the companies.

Although she knew what happened in the past would repeat itself in this lifetime, she didn’t want to take the risk. She still conducts research by reading the data that is now available. She fears the universe betrayed her; what happened in her previous life will not happen now.

Oliver was surprised to hear that. He did not look at his portfolio for several months because he was too busy running the Wilson Group. Now, he’s excited. Finally, his Boss returned to guide him to make money from the stock market.

"Boss, tell me which company we could acquire!? I need more money to propose to my baby girl!" Oliver’s eyes burned with joy.

Chapter 458: Achieved

"Boss, tell me which company!? I need more money to propose to my baby girl!" Oliver’s eyes burned with joy.

"For now, prepare your money," Rose said. She would share this valuable information with Oliver and the others once her research was complete.

Oliver’s eyes shone. He believes in Rose’s ability to predict the stock market. This girl can make easy money in the stock market.

His memories reel back, to when he learned that Rose would be founding the Wilson Group. At the time, he was surprised to learn that 75% of Rose’s capital came from the profits she made in the stock market. At first, he didn’t believe it, but then, he witnessed this girl profiting heavily from the stock market.

Since then, he started following her and doing what she did; he benefited a lot just by following her advice. That’s why he had the capital to buy shares of the Hester Group when their shares fell to rock bottom.

"Perfect!! I have a lot of money from the old Hester..." Oliver’s eyes beamed up at Rose. "Hahaha, that old man, buy my five percent shares at a high price."

"What? You sold your share to him!? You’re so stupid!!"

"Relax! Even if he buys 5%, I’m still the largest shareholder. I want to take all his money and surprise him." Oliver smiles proudly.

"Ah, about Old Hester, how is his condition now!?" She asked.

Since the end of the year, Rose had not heard from Oliver about his family. She only knew Oliver would carry out his revenge mission earlier this year.

"Guess what!?" He said while crossing his arms over his chest as he threw his mysterious smile at Rose.

"Oh please, Oliver! Just spit it out." Rose rolled her eyes, feeling no interest in playing a guessing game with him. She didn’t have much time. She wanted to get back to finishing her research before lunchtime arrived.

Oliver chuckled at his impatient boss, "Well, The Old Hester had a stroke after he found out I became the biggest shareholder of his company. Until now, his condition is still the same." Oliver explained expressionlessly.

Rose was shocked to hear that.

"How do you feel?" She couldn’t read his expression. Is he happy or sad about his grandfather’s condition?

Oliver didn’t rush to answer Rose because he didn’t know his true feelings toward that old man. He didn’t feel anything. It was as if the old man wasn’t his family.

"I don’t know." He finally answered while shrugging his shoulders.

Rose could understand Oliver’s feelings at this moment. She knew his grandfather was genuinely evil. That old Hester could manipulate his son to cut ties with his wife and son.

"At least he’s not bothering you anymore, Oliver...."

"Yeah! He doesn’t have that power anymore. I cut off his power and replaced his people in the Hester Group. So, the Hester Group is now a new company, although it is still under the same last name. Let’s say it is now under a better Hester."

Oliver never wanted to completely destroy the Hester Group. He just wanted to deprive his grandfather of any power in the company — many people depend on companies to support their families. He didn’t want many people to suffer because of his revenge mission.

"You did great this time!" Rose raised her thumb to praise her best friend. She was proud of this man. Though he suffered so much because of his grandfather and half-brother, he still has soft feelings for other people.

"Now the company runs normally, and I assigned my father to be CEO. Well, you know, my relationship with my father, right?"

"Hmmm. I know." Rose smiled. Oliver’s father so many times comes to visit his son for forgiveness.

"I decided to give him a chance to mend our relationship..." Oliver paused for a moment to take a deep breath before continuing,

"And as for Archy Hester, he’s been thrown in prison. Chances are he’ll never get out of there again. Rose, I feel like I’m reborn now... Everything I ever wanted has been accomplished. If only my mother were alive, all of this would be perfect for me!" His voice was shaking, and Rose couldn’t help but feel her eyes blurry.

She cried to know her best friend’s miserable life was finally over. He accepted his justice. He could exact his revenge on his grandfather and Archy Hester while improving his relationship with his father.

"I’m proud of you, Oliver! Now, you accomplished what you wanted..." Rose said softly.

"Yeah! Thanks to you and your husband. If you guys didn’t help me, I wouldn’t be able to get my revenge this fast!"

"Gosh! Oliver... no need to mention that. You also helped me a lot, so I think this is how I repay you for your kindness. We are family after all..." Rose stopped her words. "No! We’re not a family yet. You have to marry my cousin first!" Rose grinned. She tried to tease him.

Oliver’s face turns crimson after hearing that. His way is still far away to meet Keira’s parents. He doesn’t know when but he is determined to meet them soon. Especially now that his family problems are over.

"Wish me luck, my friend. I have plans to meet your uncle, Jayson Spencer!" Oliver’s face stiffened at the thought of Jayson Spencer, Keira’s father.

"You should go see him immediately. Because if he’s already busy with his political activities, you won’t have a chance," said Rose. Once her uncle became President, Oliver’s chances of marrying Keira got smaller. She knew her uncle’s nature. He was different from her father.

Her uncle is more concerned with the background of his future in-law. He will choose the best man for his daughter Keira.

And Oliver won’t be able to impress her uncle unless he tells him about his secret abilities as a hacker. Her uncle will definitely take an interest in Oliver because Oliver has the talent he will need later when he runs for president.

Chapter 459: Our CEO is The Best in The World

"I heard that your uncle is going to run for president?" Oliver asked.

"Yeah, you hear that right! He will run for the presidential election. And if you ask me, I think... My uncle will win the election. So, Oliver, imagine... if you marry Keira, you will become son-in-law to our president."

Rose couldn’t help laughing when she saw Oliver’s face turn pale, so pale, he looked like a corpse.

"R-Rose, you are joking, right?... To win Keira’s heart is already tough. Now, imagine if her father is president. Damn! What should I do to make my dream to marry Kei happen, Rose? Do I have a chance to get your uncle’s blessing?" Oliver’s voice sounded a little shaky.

"Well, to tell you the truth, you will have a significant chance if you use my method! But I’m not sure if you will use this method."

"Huh!? Do you have a way for me to get the blessing? Tell me... please, tell me... I’ll do anything to get your uncle’s blessing!" He is in love with Keira. So, he will do anything to get permission from Keira’s parents.

Rose asked Oliver to come closer to her. As they got closer, she whispered, "Simple! You need to tell my uncle that you are a powerful hacker. In fact, the smartest hacker in the world. I’m sure he will like you because you are useful to him."

Oliver’s eyes widened in shock.

"Well, I know it’s impossible for you to reveal your secret, right!?" Rose rested her back on the sofa and started to think of another solution for him — she was thinking of helping Oliver talk to her uncle.

"Oliver, don’t worry. I will find another way to help your cause," Rose said sympathetically, seeing her friend still silent in his place.

"No need. Your idea is perfect. I would do anything for Keira. Even if I have to sell my soul to death at a discount!" Oliver’s calm and confident voice made Rose sit straight in her chair.

She was touched to see Oliver’s persistence to marry Keira. If only Keira was here now, surely the girl would melt.

"Brother, congratulations!! I’m sure you will soon marry the love of your life!" Rose’s laughing happily. It’s great that she’ll become family with her best friend, Oliver.

"Hahaha... we will soon be a family, sista." Oliver couldn’t help but laugh too. He gave two thumbs up in praise of his genius friend.

"Do you need my help? You know, about my uncle."

"Can you help me arrange a meeting with your uncle?" Ask Oliver sincerely.

"Sure! I can arrange a lunch meeting with my uncle, and you can talk to him during..." Rose started planning to invite her uncle to lunch and let Oliver talk to him. She would also say kind words about Oliver to her uncle.

"You really are a good friend, Rose Spencer!! Did you know that?" Oliver rose from his seat and offered Rose a handshake. He’s in a good mood now. If he had known this long ago, he would have met Jayson Spencer and gotten his blessing.

Rose smiled and accepted his handshake, "Did you only realize that now? Wow!" Said Rose, teasing Oliver.

"Hey, guys. What did you guys agree on!?"

Oliver and Rose were surprised to hear James’ voice from the door. They withdrew their hands, looked at the door, and saw James walking inside, followed by Danny and Randy behind him.

"Do you really want to know?" Rose asked once the three of them joined the seating area.

"Yeah! Tell us, what is the happy news?" James’ eyes lifted up as he scanned Oliver, who didn’t seem to care about them from the moment they entered. Oliver smiled while muttering something. He looked like a drunk who had just walked out of a bar.

"Our CEO just agreed to treat us to a big and luxurious lunch..." Rose smiled while looking at Oliver. Still, this man seemed to have gone mad—he seemed to be smiling while staring at his cell phone. Gosh! It looks like this guy can’t wait to meet his future in-laws. Rose could only shake her head.

Everyone was surprised to hear that.

"Wow!, Oliver, you want to treat us to an expensive lunch? You really are one of a kind boss!" James clapped and praised Oliver.

Since Rose doesn’t come to the office because of her injury, they rarely eat lunch out. They spent their lunchtime in the office cafeteria. And, this opportunity made James happy.

Oliver was surprised to hear James. Taking them to an expensive lunch? What the heck is James talking about? When did he say he was going to treat them to lunch?

Instantly he felt something was not right. He looked at Rose, and he saw her grin. It was then that he realized that this girl must be playing him. He could only chuckle.

"You can choose the place. It doesn’t matter at the most expensive restaurant..." Rose continued.

"O yeah! We’re going to have a lunch party today..." James shouted.

"Boss Oliver is the best in the world! Right, Randy?" Danny tapped Oliver on the shoulder with an overly excited tone.

Randy could only smile, not saying anything. Probably a bit embarrassed by the overly excited Danny and worried it would put Oliver off the treat.

Oliver "..."

Despite being shocked by the sudden trap set by his crazy boss, Oliver was happy and willing to pay them a big, expensive lunch. He is in a good mood. He got an easy way to win over Jayson Spencer’s blessing.

So whatever his friends wish, he will grant it. He is willing to do it even if they ask to buy their favorite restaurant. After all, he has a lot of money from the Hester Group.

"Guys!! You can pick the place and the menus. I will pay for all of it...." Oliver said, then stood up from his seat. He needed to call his baby girl before he went to feed his gluttony friends. "I will go back to my office first. Let me know when you guys are ready!" He walked out of Rose’s office.

Chapter 460: Rest In peace

"I will go back to my office first. Let me know when you guys are ready!" Oliver walked out of Rose’s office.

"What’s wrong with him!? He looks like the happiest person in the world. Did he win the lottery!?" James said while looking at Rose.

"Hmm... Yeah. You’re right. He just won a lottery." Rose laughed mysteriously.

Before long, they all arrive at Collins Hotel.

They decide to have lunch at Platinum Palace Restaurant. It’s one of the city’s most expensive restaurants and belongs to the Collins family — Rose often comes to this place with Evan because she loves the food.

"Boss! You chose the right place." James gave Rose a thumbs-up as they entered the VIP room. "It’s my first time here."

"Didn’t I ever bring you guys here before?" She remembered bringing them all here to celebrate the successful acquisition of Rapid Realty.

"Well, I was in Vale city then, so I couldn’t come."

"Ah, I remember." Rose finally remembered. "Okay, now, you can enjoy the food here as much as you want."

"Yes, boss!!"

"Order the most expensive food. Boss Oliver will pay for it for us. He has a lot of money after acquiring the Hester Group!" Rose casually said. Then she called the floor manager to take care of their order.

"Hahaha, I know! It must be because the Hester Group has settled down, so Oliver is in a good mood now, right!?" Danny said while looking at Oliver, who was busy talking on the phone — he completely ignored them.

"Bro! Can you stop talking on the phone? This is our first meeting after Boss Rose and Sam returned to work..." James slapped Oliver on the back.

Sam, who was sitting at the end of the table, could only smile when he saw a group of young people who were busy joking around — something he had not seen for a long time. He quietly sat in the corner, enjoying his hot tea while hearing what they talked about.

"I have just called Keira!" Oliver put his cell phone on the table and glared at James.

James ignored him. He returned to chatting with Danny opposite him.

"Keira can join us?" Rose asked Oliver. She had forgotten her little cousin.

Since Keira worked at the Wilson Group and dated Oliver, she often joined them when they held gatherings like this.

"Yeah, she just finished her class and is coming here."

"That’s good."

"Rose, why don’t you ask Evan to join us?" Oliver asked. He owes Evan so much. Because of Evan, he succeeded in acquiring the Hester Group. He wanted to thank Evan again.

"He’s busy. I think he has a lunch meeting with his colleagues." She also wished Evan would join them, but it looked like Evan had an important meeting.

While the others were busy chatting, Randy suddenly shouted in surprise. Making the others look at him confused.

"W-What!?" Randy shouted. There was apparent surprise flashed in his eyes when he saw them all.

"What happened, Randy?" James asks.

"Something happened at the office?" Danny frowned at how shocked Randy was now. This man rarely showed his expression because, among them, he was the quietest, second only to Evan.

"No... No... Check the internet. There’s breaking news about Carla Miller..." Randy said.

He still couldn’t believe what he was reading. This woman just took the internet by storm with gossip about her relationship with Evan last year, and now she was trending number one again. Unfortunately, this time, the news was not about her love line or her dark secret, but sad news — she passed away.

[Movie Star, Carla Miller Dies In Car Accident]

Suddenly the room fell silent. Nobody made a sound. But it was clear from the look in their eyes that they were confused by Randy’s words.

Another gossip about Carla Miller? Is it about her relationship with Evan again?

It took them a few seconds to regain their senses. Then, they all took their cell phones, including Rose, to check the latest news on the internet.

[Movie Star, Carla Miller Dies In Car Accident]

Rose, who is worried about the gossip news related to Evan, was shocked when she read Carla Miller had died.

How could that woman suddenly die? Did she kill herself because she couldn’t stand the gossip about her dark past!?

"This is hoax news, right!?" Rose muttered as she tried to find other news. It didn’t take long before she found the same report.

She really died!?

Rose’s heart sank. Somehow she felt sorry for the woman.

****

Meanwhile, in one of the apartments in the Capital,

Willard Harper stood by the glass window, looking at the street below. His hands were busy playing with a glass of red wine. Occasionally a smile framed his handsome face. He was in a good mood.

That foolish woman, Carla Miller, kept him restless in his hiding place. Several times she tried to contact Evan. At first, he didn’t care why Carla tried contacting Evan. However, two days ago, he knew the crazy woman’s goal — Carla was trying to sell his name to Evan.

How could he keep calm watching that stupid woman reveals he was the orchestra behind all this?

He has no other choice but to silence her forever.

It wasn’t time for him to take the next step in his plan. He will stay low for the time being. Waiting for Evan to let his guard down. Then, he will carry out his mission to retrieve his beloved woman, Rose Willson.

Now that stupid woman has died, and no one knows his secret anymore, he feels relieved.

And, because the source of his headache has disappeared, he can now return to the capital city. After hiding out in foreign places for so long, it’s been a while setting his foot in the town he knows so well.

"Carla, I’m sorry... You forced me to do it. If you didn’t look for Evan and Sean, I would never have killed you to keep my tracks safe...."

He raised his wine glass like he was cheering for Carla and gulped the wine in one go.

"Till we meet again, Carla Miller! May you rot in peace...."
