Ch. 71..75: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 71-75
Chapter 71: Kidnapping Lady Boss?
A sinister smile appears on Sam’s calm face. He didn’t want to linger in this place. In a flash, he makes a move. He throws his powerful punch and flying kick. His movement is too fast. Neither of them could see when he had moved. They could only see a black shadow approaching, followed by bones cracking and a terrifying scream echoing through the place.
Sam didn’t stop moving to cripple all the gangsters until there was only one person left. The man with an ugly shirt. The gangster leader. He was standing motionless. His face turned as white as paper, and his eyes widened like he was facing a grim reaper about to take his life.
The gang’s boss didn’t expect this driver to beat all his men effortlessly. Just one hit on a vital spot knocked them down, and they couldn’t move anymore.
All his men were lying on the ground now, with broken bones in several areas that hindered them from making any further assault. Maybe a few of them died instantly. During his time as a gang member at White Skull, this was the first time he had faced such a formidable opponent. And this opponent didn’t use any tools to beat them. He only used his hands and feet. What a terrific expert he is!?
"Expert!! God of fighting! Please... please spare my life...." He kneeled down to plead for his life. He can’t die here.
"I will spare your life if you tell me the truth..." Sam took a white handkerchief from his trouser pocket and wiped the bloodstains on his hands. He felt disgusted that the blood of these bastards was left on his skin. He glanced at the gang leader, who was kneeling with horror-looking eyes staring at him.
"I, I..." The gangster Leader’s voice trembled, and he couldn’t continue his words as he was frightened by the driver’s aura. His mind was too cluttered for words.
Sam’s upper lip rose slightly into a sinister grin, "If you try to tell a lie, forgive me if I cut your throat...." Instantly in Sam’s hands appears a small dagger.
With slow steps, he advanced toward the gangster leader. He squats before him while placing the sharp dagger on his throat. His killer-looking eyes looked straight into him.
"Who sent you? And why?" His other hand slapped his face.
"We got instructions to kidnap the girl and bring her to...." The Gangster Leader felt like he wanted to pee in his pants when the cold dagger touched his skin. He immediately told the driver what he knew as he could sense that this driver wasn’t bluffing to cut his throat.
Sam was surprised to hear that. Why did someone want to kidnap Lady Boss?
While in the car.
Rose’s cell phone suddenly stopped playing her playlist. Still hides her face in the middle of her knees. She hears a phone call. Slowly she opened her eyes, looking at her phone screen. Her worried heart and mind slowly faded away, and she felt a little bit calm when she saw Evan’s name appear on her screen phone.
"E-Evan..." She couldn’t stop herself from crying when she heard Evan’s voice on the other end. She didn’t dare raise her head to see what was happening outside. She just looked at her feet. "I’m so scared, Evan..."
"Rose, listen! Everything is fine. I know you’re terrified, but don’t worry... I will come to you right away. Stay in the car. Do not get out...."
"B-But... Sam! Sam... he goes out and fights alone." Rose’s voice is shaking. Too frightened. "There are19 people with huge bodies and terrible faces out there. How could he fight them alone? I’m so scared, Evan! What if...What if... Sam injures or dies?" Rose stuttered to string the words between her tears.
Rose felt helpless. She wished she could do martial arts or use firearms to help Sam or protect herself if something happened. But Rose doesn’t have that skill. She’s too weak. And now, she regretted not learning martial arts when she was little.
"Sam is fine...." Evan’s heart was agitated hearing how scared his girl was now. He is now on the way to the helipad. He decided to return to East city ahead of schedule.
"Did you forget what I told you!? Sam is not a simple man... He is powerful. I entrust you to him because he can protect you if I’m not by your side. So, Rose... please don’t be scared. Everything will be alright, huh!?"
"Uh...Hmm..." Rose tries to wipe her tears and calm herself. "I just hope we can get out of here soon... I want to go home."
"You will..."
Suddenly Rose heard a knocking sound from the side of the window where she was sitting. She tightens her grip on her cellphone. "E-Evan... someone tries to open the car door. What should I do?" Too afraid to lift her head. She just bent deeper so the gangsters wouldn’t see her.
Evan feels tense when he hears that. But just before he wanted to say something, he saw Gavin give him a gesture that he must cut the connection because their helicopter was about to fly.
"Rose, whatever happens, just stay in the car. I will fly now. I will call you when I arrive..."
Rose was more scared when her phone with Evan had to be disconnected. Her heart is pounding like crazy when she hears the car door open. Her instincts to protect herself appear in her mind. She takes off her sneakers and is ready to slap anyone who opens the car door with her shoe.
Tightening her grip on her sneaker, she waits. She will attack first before that man touches her. The moment the car door opened with her might, she swung her hand hard at the person’s face. The sound of a slap was heard so loudly, followed by a man’s scream so loud.
She was stunned to hear that voice.
Chapter 72: Who Are They?
"Huh! Why does this gangster sound like Sam?"
She lifted her head. She was shocked, looking at Sam standing near the car door, holding his cheek. His eyes were watery looking at her.
"L-Lady B-Boss... why, why did you hit me?" Sam asked. A stinging sensation was felt in the area where the sole of sneakers hit him hard. His eyes were still hazy as to how hard Lady Boss slapped him.
"Oh my gosh! Sam... I’m really sorry. I thought you were one of those gangsters who wanted to hurt me. I tried to protect myself by beating you with the weapons I found, my shoe. Your face... I mean, your cheek is ok?" Rose feels terrible because she uses all her strength when she hits him.
"I’m fine, Lady boss..." Sam lied. Now his cheeks felt sorer and began to feel swollen. One thing that makes him grateful is that not one of his teeth fell out.
Rose felt even more guilty when she saw Sam’s cheeks were red. There were shoe prints on his face. Her worry and sad-looking eyes made Sam immediately forget the pain he was feeling.
"We should go now, Lady Boss. We can’t stay here for too long."
"Huh!? Where’re the criminals earlier?" Rose tried to get out of the car. But Sam forbade her by closing the car door.
"Don’t come down. You’d better stay in the car for safety." Sam is afraid there’s a sniper around.
After Sam crippled all the gangsters, he wanted to leave this place quickly, but he needed to wait for the clean-up team. Afraid these cripple gangsters will escape.
Rose was shocked, looking at all the gangsters who blocked their car earlier, now lying on the road in a strange position. They look lifeless. Did Sam kill them all?
"Sam, Did you kill all of them?" Rose looks at Sam in shock.
"Lady Boss! How could you accuse me like that? I’m a good and kind citizen, alright. I will never kill innocent people..." Sam, who was already sitting behind the wheel, turned to look at Lady Boss. "Well, I just make them can’t use their hands and feet to harm other people for the rest of their life." He smiled proudly.
Rose speechless.
Kind citizen? It seems to me you’ve hit them pretty bad. They almost lost their lives like that. Some of them have their faces barely recognizable. Gosh!
She looked at Sam’s sturdy-looking back. How strong is he? He can easily defeat almost twenty burly men without him getting hurt. His clothes were still neat, and there were no visible bruises or cuts on his body, except for the slap of a shoe on his right cheek. And he behaves like a fool, clumsy man.
Remembering how red Sam’s cheeks were, Rose felt guilty once again.
"Sorry, Sam... you got injured because of me."
"Lady Boss... Hahaha, it’s just a little bruise. I swear to you, it doesn’t hurt at all... How can shoes make me hurt? Don’t worry, Lady Boss, the swelling and bruising will disappear in a few days." Sam glances at Lady boss from the rearview mirror.
He was stunned when he saw a bruise on Lady Boss’ forehead. Instantly his body turned frosty as the angry face of his Big Boss Evan appeared in his mind.
"L-Lady, boss your forehead. I’m really sorry. I hit the brake suddenly, bruising your head and swelling...."
"Huh!? Really?" Rose took a mirror from her bag. She was surprised, looking at her forehead now turning purple and swelled.
She raises her hand to rub it.
"Ouch!!" She screamed without realizing it because her forehead felt stinging. Then she looked at Sam. She was surprised now his face turned ashen.
"Hahaha, it’s ok, Sam. I just need to compress it with ice cubes, and it will heal in no time..." She smiles, trying not to worry Sam. She can feel how guilty Sam feels right now when he finds out she has bruises.
"Damn it! Boss Evan definitely will kill me if he knows about your injury..." Sam murmurs.
"I will tell Evan, this is my fault. I strolled against a glass door and hit my forehead when I was in Oliver’s house. No need to explain to him what exactly happened, Sam...."
Sam could only chuckle in his heart. How could Evan believe her?
"Lady Boss, do you feel pain in other areas?"
"Nothing. I don’t feel any pain. Even my forehead doesn’t hurt at all...." She lied. Right now, her chest hurts.
When Sam suddenly stopped the car, her body slammed forward, and the seat belt on her chest pulled her back so hard. Her chest pain was replaced by fear as the gangsters surrounded their car. Now that there were no more threats, the panic and anxiety gradually disappeared, replaced by the pain in her chest.
She wanted to check her chest, but Sam was still in the car. She’ll check it out as soon as she gets home.
Not long after, several black cars arrived. It was their rescue team. Sam met them while Rose just watched from inside the vehicle.
She saw several men getting out of the car with the posture and haircuts that resembled soldiers. She also saw them bring rifles and guns. They look like soldiers. But she hesitated because their uniforms were black, unlike the uniforms of this country’s army, dark green and dark blue.
Who are they? Why did Sam call for their help? Rose is curious. She wanted to hear their conversation, but she couldn’t because they stood a few meters from her car.
After a while of waiting, Sam finally got back into the car. Without saying anything, their car slowly left the scene. And one car followed them from behind.
"Sam, can we stop by the pharmacy? I want to buy some bruising ointment and a hat." She was worried that her mother would panic as soon as she saw her forehead.
Chapter 73: Evan Worried
Rose didn’t see her mother when she got home. There was only Aunty Nora, the maid in the kitchen. It looked like she was preparing their lunch.
"Miss Rose, you come back?" The maid greeted her.
"Aunty Nora, where’s my mother?" Rose casually asked as she opened the fridge and took a cola can. She tried to avoid facing Aunty Nora so she wouldn’t see her forehead.
"She was taking a nap in her bedroom. Do you want to call her?" Aunty Nora turned off the stove and prepared to head to Molly’s room.
"N-No need." She quickly stopped Aunt Nora. "Please just keep cooking. I’m going to my bedroom... And, aunty Nora, no need to call me for lunch. I’m still full." After talking a while with Aunty Nora, she rushed to her bedroom to treat the bruises on her forehead.
Today she plans to avoid seeing her mother as much as possible. She was really sure her mother would freak out when she saw her injury.
Rose immediately compresses her forehead with a cold can she took from the fridge. She applies ointment. After finishing, she slowly took off her shirt.
She was surprised to see a bruise on her snow-white skin, on the upper right side of her chest. She gently touched it and felt a little bit stingy.
Afraid her mother would come to her room, she immediately applied the ointment and changed into loose, comfortable home clothes.
Later Rose’s body and mind felt exhausted. She lay on her bed, trying to remember the thrilling accident she had just experienced. Sam told her the gangster wanted to rob them... But what Sam told her sounded absurd.
How could a White Skull gangster want to rob a car? Are they that low? To do that?
From what she had read about in novels or seen in action movies, gangsters usually dealt with drugs, murder, and other nasty evil works. She had never heard of them wanting to steal a car.
After a while, she was thinking while staring at the white ceiling of her room. Suddenly her body froze as she remembered the luxury car they used today.
"My gosh! It’s all because of that car...." She murmurs.
If they didn’t use the Mercy SUV and only used her mother’s old sedan, maybe the White Skull gangsters wouldn’t have tried to steal their car. The gangsters would just let their car pass.
But unfortunately, today they drive luxury cars. The SUV car is a limited edition. She could see earlier that the vehicle had a bullet-proof body. The gangsters couldn’t break the glass even though they tried to hit the window with a baseball bat. The care price must be priceless, right? That’s why the gangsters send so many people to steal it.
Rose chuckled when she remembered how miserable the gangster was. They miscalculated and tried to rob them because they didn’t know Sam was a martial arts expert.
She still couldn’t believe how capable Sam was. She regrets not seeing how Sam beat up the gangsters.
"Did all of Evan’s assistants have the same abilities as Sam?" She was so curious to know that she was also envious.
Soon Rose felt her eyes feel so heavy. She yawned several times. But she was trying not to sleep because Evan should have landed in this town by now, afraid he would call her.
But just a few seconds. Her eyes betrayed her. She slowly closed her eyes as she played music from her cellphone playlist.
Shortly after, in the dining room,
"Ma’am, someone’s coming looking for Miss Rose." The housemaid approached Molly, who was eating her lunch alone.
"Who?" Molly places her cutlery as she looks at the maid.
"Master Evan..."
"My Son-In-Law?" Molly was excited her future son-in-law had finally come to their house after a few days she hadn’t seen him.
"Hurry... tell him to come in..." She continued her words. Then, she walked into the living room, waiting for Evan.
"Aunty Molly..." Evan greeted Molly as he handed her a White Carnation, Molly’s favorite flower that he bought on his way here.
"Wow! Son-In-Law, why do you bother buying flowers for me? You don’t have to do that...." She scolded him, but still, she received the bouquet happily. She smelled the white Carnation in her arms. Her son-in-law is the best. He knows best to make her happy.
"Auntie, I passed by a flower shop and saw these beautiful white Carnations. It reminded me of you... that’s why I stopped buying it." Evan’s flattery words make Molly laugh happily.
"Did you want to meet Rose?" Evan nods slightly. "Go find her in her bedroom. That girl made me worry!" Molly took a deep sigh before she continued, "She didn’t want to eat lunch and went straight to sleep in her room."
Evan felt worried when he heard that. In a hurry, he went to the back area. He didn’t see Rose in the living room. His eyes landed on Rose’s bedroom door. Slowly he approaches the door and opens it gently.
His step stopped when he saw Rose lay on the bed, her eyes tightly shut. She only wears an oversize white t-shirt with black leggings that wrap her slender legs.
He moved forward a few steps to better look at his lover, sleeping like a goddess. He saw her long brown hair scattered on the white pillow. Then his eyes caught her forehead, which looked blue.
His heart hardened to see that.
He approached the sleeping Rose so he could observe clearly. He was shocked, knowing that her forehead was bruised and looked swollen.
Evan exhales deeply.
"No wonder you decided to skip lunch! You must be afraid your mother would see it..." He mutters.
His eyes still observed her forehead as he clenched his fists tightly, annoyed with what happened to her.
"Sam! How could you guard my woman like this? She was injured, and you didn’t tell me?" Evan cursed Sam in his heart. He will deal with Sam later.
Chapter 74: Talk To Doctor Doris
After covering her with the blanket, he took his cell phone from his trouser pocket. And walked to the glass window at the end of the room.
"Tell me the most effective medicine to heal bruises...."
"What? Why? Are you hurt?" Doris’s voice on the other end sounded frantic. Worried if something happened to Evan.
"I’m not. Please... just answer my question without asking back!"
"Is Rose injured? Let me see her wound...."
Evan gripped his phone tightly. His face turned displeased hearing Doris still ask him back. After a moment of silence, he turned his head around to look at Rose. He was surprised when his eyes met Rose’s clear hazel eyes.
"Are you awake?"
Evan walked fast toward Rose without hanging up the phone. "Sleep again. You need more rest..." He sat beside her bed while smoothing the hair that covered part of her face. Her long eyelashes were swinging rapidly as if she was confused and shocked to see him in her bedroom.
"Evan, I’m fine..." Rose’s voice sounded husky, and her throat felt dry. "Since when did you come? Did my mother ask you to wake me up?"
Evan helped Rose sit up when he saw her trying to get up again.
"Hmm... Aunty Molly asked me to take you to lunch. Why did you skip your lunch? You will be sick if you skip lunch...."
"I’m not hungry..." Rose gasped when she realized she hadn’t hidden the bruise on her forehead. Evan must have seen it, right? That’s why at this time, his face looked so gloomy like he was holding back anger.
"E-Evan, can you please wait outside? I will come out soon...." She hastily said while getting up from the bed. She walked fast towards the bathroom.
"I saw it, Rose!" Evan stood up and followed her. "No need to hide. Let me ask someone to buy medicine for you...."
Doris couldn’t help but feel happy to hear Evan being gentle to Rose on the other end of the line. She had never heard Evan’s voice so gentle and patient with a woman, not even herself. This man was always like a robot; He was smileless when talking to her. And his expression was always flat.
Rose stops her step.
She looked back at Evan, who was already standing tall in front of her. She didn’t want to show her face; she just looked at his broad chest, trying to hide the bruises on her forehead.
"T-This is... not Sam’s fault, Evan!" Rose was worried that Evan would blame Sam for the bruise on her forehead. She could see the irritation in his cold eyes.
She can’t allow this man to know about the bruise on her chest. If he saw her, he would probably be even angrier.
"This is not the right time to defend him. Shall we cure your wound first?"
"Uh... hmm... I already bought the ointment at the pharmacy earlier." Rose answered as she looked at her feet. Then her eyes see his phone screen, which is still on. She was stunned. In a hurry, she looks up and warns Evan about it.
"Hai Rose... this is aunty Doris. You got bruises?"
Rose was dumbfounded when she could faintly hear Doctor Doris’ voice on the other end. Instantly her cheeks turned red. She realized Doctor Doris had been listening to their conversation.
Gosh! Doctor Doris must have been thinking odds about Evan in her bedroom!
Evan pressed the speaker button on his cellphone and then handed it to Rose.
"Speak to her...."
Rose was forced to take the call; she took a deep breath before greeting Doctor Doris politely.
"A-Aunty Doris, my bruises aren’t that bad... I’ve bought some ointment at the pharmacy to reduce swelling and bruising...." Rose said of the ointment brand as she looked at Evan, who was still standing in front of her. His face was still gloomy, but the anger radiated from his eyes had lessened. She felt a little relieved.
"Okay, the ointment is pretty good. You can continue to use it on your bruise... However, if you feel dizzy or nauseous, you should go to the hospital for additional tests."
"Thank you, Aunt Doris, for all your help... I don’t know how to repay you for your kindness to my mother and me." Rose can only thank Doctor Doris, who was so kind to her family. She didn’t know about Evan’s relationship with Doctor Doris, but she was very grateful that Evan introduced her to this excellent doctor.
"I hear you will move to the capital in a few days?"
Rose was surprised how Doctor Doris knew about that? Did Evan tell her?
"Your mother told me..." Doctor Doris continued her sentence after not hearing Rose respond to her question.
Rose smiles, "Y-Yes, aunty. I will live in the capital after graduating from college..."
"That’s good news, Rose. If you want to thank me, it’s simple. Just treat me to a meal...and take Evan with you." This is her chance to sit down to dinner with Evan. That young man never granted her wish just to eat dinner or lunch with her.
"Hahaha, sure, aunty. I will arrange dinner with you once I arrive in the capital. I will also ask Evan to come to our dinner...." Evan’s face turns darker again after hearing their conversation. He quickly grabbed the cellphone in Rose’s hand.
"I will call you later. Bye!" He turned off his cellphone and put it in his pocket, feeling annoyed. After that, he grabs Rose’s hand and brings her to the sofa. "Where’s your medicine? Let me help you to apply...."
Soon Evan brought the medicine as he sat beside her. Without saying anything, he gently rubbed the ointment on her forehead.
Rose knows Evan is still angry.
She didn’t know what to do to coax him but silently she grumbled in her heart; why did her mother let Evan come to her bedroom?
If only he didn’t get in, she would have a chance to cover the bruise with foundation. This man wouldn’t see it and would not be angry.
Chapter 75: Two Options
Rose thought hard. Trying to find a way to make her boyfriend less annoyed.
After a while of thinking, some ideas that came to her mind made her smile silently. She will try this method, it must be effective.
"E-Evan, I’m really thirsty...." Rose said in such a soft voice. Hoping that Evan would melt when he heard her intimate voice.
Evan stopped applying ointment to her forehead. Then he walked out of the room. Not long after, he came back with a bottle of mineral water in his hand.
"Is there another part that hurts? Did you feel dizzy?" Evan asked as he handed her an opened mineral bottle. She immediately drank it.
"No. I’m fine... Evan, don’t be mad, huh!?"
"Are you sure you don’t feel pain anywhere else?"
"Yes!" She holds his hand and squeezes it gently. "I’m excellent. Don’t be mad. This incident... is not Sam’s fault or mine. But it’s your fault...."
Evan frowned. Wondering why she suddenly said this was his fault?
"Why so?"
"Because you allow me to use your super expensive car...." Rose let go of her grip and crossed her arms in front of her chest. She took a deep sigh before continuing her words in her sulky tone. "If it weren’t for that car, the gangsters wouldn’t be interested in stopping us... nothing like this would have happened. That’s why I said. This is your fault...."
Evan lost his words hearing her words. If only she knew why The White Skull gangsters attacked them, maybe she would freak out.
Rose felt a little better when she saw Evan’s expression change slightly. His eyes also start to look more calm and content.
"What I said is true, isn’t it?"
Rose cleared her throat with joy because the success of her idea made Evan not angry anymore. The idea is that she must blame him.
Now, She couldn’t help but want to laugh. But, she worried that Evan would get angry again, so she tried to contain herself.
"Hmm... you’re right, Rose." His girl is indeed intelligent. He can’t bear to keep angry at her. He took her delicate hand and held it tightly. "I’m sorry, because of that car, your forehead got hurt like this..." He sighs deeply.
Rose’s face delighted looking at him. "Evan... you’re not angry anymore?"
"Hmm... I’m not. I can’t be angry at you, Rose."
How could he be angry when he saw her sad like this? His heart wasn’t strong enough to hold him back from embracing this girl in his arms. His mind and heart could not calm down during the journey to this city. He was afraid that she would be hurt or traumatized by this attack.
Evan pulled her into his embrace as he rubbed her head gently.
"I’m so grateful you weren’t hurt, Rose." Evan hugged her tighter as if he didn’t want to keep her away from him. If he could, he would love to have Rose by his side wherever he goes.
Rose felt her chest hurt when Evan hugged her so tightly. Unknowingly she groaned in pain as she tried to push Evan. But instead of loosening his embrace, Evan actually tightened his embrace.
"E-Evan... please..." Her chest feels heavy, and her breath suddenly becomes short. "Please, please release me. My chest hurts..."
"What? What happened?" Evan releases his embrace and looks at her. He was stunned by what he saw. Rose’s face looked like she was holding back pain.
Instantly Evan cursed in his heart for not realizing she had other wounds.
"Let me see!"
"No!"
"Why? I have to see so I can help you treat it...."
Rose froze. How could she show the bruises on her chest?
"E-Evan... the bruises aren’t as bad as the one on my forehead. I can handle it myself!"
"I know. But I have to see it...."
Rose was speechless.
Is Evan so clueless with his refusal? How can she undress in front of him and expose her bare chest?
Seeing him insist on wanting to see it, she couldn’t help but agree to his request. Slowly she pulled down her oversized T-shirt. Her collarbone showed. The further down she pulled, the more exposed the top of her chest.
Evan was frozen.
"Rose! What are you doing?" Evan saw Rose slowly pull down her t-shirt. He can see her smooth collarbone and her chest. Why does she do that?
"HUH!? Didn’t you ask me?" Rose was confused.
Evan was utterly shocked when he realized it.
"Rose, sorry..." Now he understands why Rose has refused to show her wound. He cleared his throat and stood on the sofa. "Change your clothes. Let’s go to the hospital."
Rose took a deep breath. She could already guess that Evan would definitely overreact like now. Just like when she passed out at dinner. At that time, Evan took her to the hospital and did a thorough medical check-up. It felt very tiring if she had to go through a series of tests again.
"Evan, no need. I’m fine. I was in pain because my skin rubbed against my clothes when you hugged me tightly. I don’t feel anything after that. I’m telling the truth...." Rose tried to convince him not to go to the hospital.
Evan, who was already walking towards the door, stopped. He turned to see Rose, who was walking toward him. From her eyes, Evan could see that this girl refused to go to the hospital. But, he couldn’t grant her request this time.
"Rose, you have two options..."
Evan said as he avoided her puppy eyes, trying to bewitch him. He wasn’t going to let her off the hook this time. Her health is essential.
"First, we go to the hospital now. Second, I will tell your mother if you are injured. Now please choose. Which one do you want?" Evan’s voice is deadly serious.
Instantly Rose’s hope was lost. She could only take a deep breath as she walked to her wardrobe to get ready.
