Ch. 641..650
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 641
“You’re overthinking it. What would I get from selling you out? Besides, didn’t we agree on it before?” Jonathan remained calm as Henry approached. “I know you’re losing your patience, but it’s been years. What’re a few more days for you? I’m already at such an old age and have no children. Sooner or later, this would all fall into your hands.”
Henry, standing in front of Jonathan, stared at him before coldly saying, “It’s good that you’re aware. Uncle, you can’t blame me for bringing this up. That old man had thrown me aside, but my people are all capable men. The Lodge family has always kept a low profile over the years. I hope I don’t have to hurt my family if push comes to shove.”
Jonathan was stunned to hear this and sighed. “What are you talking about? We’re all a family. What do you mean by that?”
After a pause, Jonathan added, “Back to the main point, three days willld pass in a blink of an eye. We must come up with some concrete evidence to convince the public. Although the elders won’t care as much, they still have a reputation to uphold.”
“Well, since you brought it up to her, I’ll leave that to you,” Henry retorted with a snort. He had no means to help at all. “It’s not that easy to be the patriarch now, isn’t it?”
With that said, Henry turned and left the room. Jonathan’s eyes darkened as he stared down. the empty doorway.
Henry quickly made his way downstairs and into his car as he had an appointment elsewhere. Of course, he couldn’t tell Jonathan about this. After living abroad for so many years, Henry knew it was important to keep a trump card to himself. Besides, he still couldn’t see Jonathan’s intentions.
He drove through the wilderness to a development area in Sapphine. This piece of land was still under construction belonging to the Lodge family. The potential value of this location was immeasurable.
In Henry’s mind, he can’t be blamed for his ruthlessness. Back then, wasn’t Wilfred more ruthless when he scrapped Henry’s efforts and drove him out of the Lodge family? Now, Henry was just coming back to take what was his.
As for Justin and Lily, Henry had no intention of killing them as long as they knew their places and stayed obedient. The car continued to drive on before stopping at a large empty field, now a half–constructed abandoned theme park.
A contractor back then had plans to construct a large amusement park in this area. The money ran out in the middle of the project, and he had so many follow–up bills to pay that he could. not afford to finish it. This piece of land was subsequently left undeveloped.
Once the development rights of this plot had been taken, this palace would be rebuilt.
For the time being, it served as a somewhat discreet gathering spot. Nobody would ever walk through here. It was so exposed that anyone hiding there would be easily spotted.
In the distance, Henry noticed a white car parked not far ahead and braked once he was nearer to it. Henry was in no haste to exit the vehicle. He kept the car running, shifted into park, then lit up and took a few leisurely drags from his cigarette.
A few minutes later, the front door of the white car opened, and a man dressed in a suit and leather shoes walked toward Henry.
Henry narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath before rolling down his car window. “Mr. Lodge.”
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 642
Nathaniel had a polite smile as he bent down, knowing that the man in the car had an air of arrogance around him. Henry looked at Nathaniel and blew out a puff of smoke directly at his face.
Nathaniel was caught off guard and began to cough repeatedly from the smoke. Then he heard. a light voice. “Are you alone?”
Turning his head, he coughed again before looking back at Henry, “Yes, I’m alone, but it seems my presence isn’t welcome. In that case, it must mean that you’re uninterested in what I have. Seeing as I’m disturbing you, I’ll leave.”
With that said, Nathaniel turned and left.
“Hold up!” Henry snarled. At first, he thought Nathaniel was just playing tricks, but when he saw that Nathaniel got right into the car and started it, Henry panicked. He quickly unbuckled. his seat belt and jumped out of his car.
When Henry rushed over and grabbed the half–open window, Nathaniel was already beginning to drive.
“Stop!”
The car let out a screech as Nathaniel braked to a stop. This almost sent Henry flying to the ground. Once he stabilized himself, he shot a glare at Nathaniel.
At this moment, Nathaniel, who sat in the car, sneered. “Is there anything I can help you with, Mr. Lodge?”
“Since you’re here to make a deal with me, stop being so pretentious and come down to chat!” Henry gruntled after letting go of the car.
A sardonic smile flashed across Nathaniel’s face when he heard this. “I’m not being pretentious, but if you’re not keen, there’s nothing to talk about. After all, I’m not the one. needing any concrete evidence, and I’m not the one that’s a family patriarch, am I?”
Upon hearing this, Henry’s gaze turned cold as he stared at Nathaniel. “Are you threatening me?”
“I have no time for threats. I’m just reminding you that everyone is equal in all sorts of transactions. You said that I’m pretentious? You’re thinking too highly of me. I wouldn’t dare to be that way in front of you. However, Mr. Lodge, I hope you respect me in turn.”
Henry’s eyes turned gloomy in the face of Nathaniel’s words. He took two steps back, sighed, and relaxed a little before he said, “Let’s talk.”
After studying his face, Nathaniel opened the door and got out of the car. Only after standing in front of Henry did Nathaniel realize that Henry was not much taller than himself. However, Henry’s sinister demeanor created a tense environment.
There was a time when Henry would intimidate Nathaniel. Now that he was entangled with the wealthy and powerful, he felt less threatened than before. Sooner or later, the whole Tanner Corporation would be his so an upcoming patriarch of the Lodge family was nothing to him.
Nathaniel casually had his hands in his trousers pocket and raised his chin to look at Henry
unabatedly. “Mr. Lodge, I’m delighted to meet you.”
“Cut to the chase. Gary said that the evidence in your hands right now would help me. Is that true?” If it weren’t because Henry had personally heard this from Gary, he wouldn’t have taken the risk to come all the way here.
“I know what you’re worried about, Mr. Lodge, and I can help you with that under one condition.”
Nathaniel smiled as he knew he had the upper hand now. He was up–to–date with what was going on. Although Jonathan currently held the title of the family patriarch, the power was still in Justin’s hands. If Justin wasn’t overthrown, Henry would not be of much use, even if he got the title.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 643
“I know you were with that brat, Lily Christian, weren’t you? Then she left you,” Henry stated as he looked Nathaniel up and down. He did not come here empty–handed, as he knew a thing or two about Nathaniel.
However, Henry did not know about Nathaniel’s relationship with the Tanner family. Although Henry knew Nathaniel was working with Tanner Corporation, he had no idea how Nathaniel had managed to clear his debt and turn his life around again.
Whatever the case was, Henry could not care less about it. All he wanted to know was whether Nathaniel could help him.
“It seems like you know quite a lot for someone who has been abroad, Mr. Lodge,” Nathaniel. said with a low laugh. “Yes, you’re right. Everything I am today is all thanks to your niece. Speaking of which, you could have been my uncle!”
Hearing this, Henry narrowed his eyes. “If you manage to help me this time, there might still be a possibility of that.”
He implied that as long as Nathaniel could help him, he would help Nathaniel get Lily back. Nathaniel laughed instead. “No, no, you’ve misunderstood me. That’s not what I meant. Although I want to get my revenge on Lily, that’s not what I’m asking. I will do my best to help you get what you want.
“As for me, I’m nobody with no backbone in Tanner Corporation. It’s hard to break into this industry as well. So, I’d be delighted if you could support me in the future, Mr. Lodge.”
“Are you planning to take over Tanner Corporation?” Henry gave Nathaniel a deep look. Although Henry knew this youngun had a plan, he did not know that this dream of Nathaniel’s was so big.
‘He’s really aiming for the stars, huh?”
The Tanners were a renowned family. As far as Henry was concerned, Nathaniel was only a small project manager in a department. No matter how high he tried to climb, there was no way the Tanner family would hand over the company to an outsider.
‘How naive of him!”
However, Henry was at peace with Nathaniel’s goal. As long as he focused on taking over the Tanner Corporation, he was no threat to Henry. As for whether Nathaniel would succeed or not, only time could tell. No one could say for sure.
After thinking about this, Henry nodded and replied, “Okay, I promise I will help you in the future. Now, can you tell me how you can help me?”
Nathaniel, facing Henry, noticed all the emotions betrayed by Henry’s eyes and could guess what was on Henry’s mind. Then Nathaniel grinned.
As Henry spoke, Nathaniel turned to take a box from the car. He opened it in front of Henry. This is what you need.”
Henry’s eyes widened expectantly. “Scented candles?!”
Seeing what was in the box, he could not help but feel disappointed. “Is that it?”
“Do you think these are just any scented candles, Mr. Lodge? These are the pieces of evidence. that can convict Lily and Justin.”
“If it were that simple, I would’ve done it long ago,” Henry muttered as he shook his head. He was starting to feel that his trip today was a waste of time.
He expected some concrete evidence from this man. Who would have thought Nathaniel would come up with Henry’s same initial plan? This plan was flawed. There was still the candle Lily had made back home that remained unused.
Once the forensics department compared these fake ones to the original candles, one could immediately tell they were poisonous and fake. This plan could come back and bite Henry in the a’s.
“I assumed you had a great plan, but now I understand how a little girl like Lily could fool a big man like you.”
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 644
Henry snorted at Nathaniel and turned to leave. He knew this was just a waste of time.
Nathaniel said from behind, “Mr. Lodge, do you think this is a fake and inferior product. anyone can imitate? I can guarantee that even Lily can’t differentiate this from her own candle.”
Henry stopped and looked back at Nathaniel. His eyes were full of suspicion.
Nathaniel knew Henry would not simply believe his words. He stepped forward, stood two steps away from Henry, and handed him the box, “Lily and I had dated for over five years. I’m familiar with her methods and habits.
“Someone I handpicked created this product with much care according to Lily’s methods, habits, and recipe. I can guarantee it will be flawless even if the forensics department checks it with the most advanced equipment.”
you Henry was still doubtful but began to believe Nathaniel when he saw his confidence, “Are telling the truth?”
“There are still two days left, correct? You can look for someone to test it. Oh, right, be careful when testing, as I’ve already added the ‘extra ingredients.“” Nathaniel confidently smiled as if everything was under his control.
It was only then that Henry reached out for the box. He brought it closer to his nose for a sniff before moving away.
“There’s no need for you to worry. A small amount is insufficient to poison people. After all, the old Mr. Lodge died from slow–acting poison, right?” Nathaniel said.
Henry had deliberately smelled Lily’s candle and intuitively felt it smelled the same. Even though he did not notice the difference, he would still send it for testing. After all, this was crucial evidence he could use to convict Lily and Justin.
“Mr. Lodge, please remember to replace every candle Lily ever made. I have prepared sufficient quantities for you. Oh, apart from the candles, there’s this.” He removed a small thing from his pocket and handed it to Henry.
Henry took it to have a look, “A flash drive?”
“The candle can only convict Lily alone for murder due to revenge and dissatisfaction. However, it’s useless against Justin. This will be of help with that.” Nathaniel grinned and smiled meaningfully.
He extended his hand toward Henry and said, “You’ll know after you return home and have a look at it. I’m looking forward to our future collaboration.”
Henry looked at his outreached hand and back at Nathaniel’s smile. He raised his eyebrows and shook hands with Nathaniel. “I hope these won’t let me down!” Henry was impatient and wanted to know what was in the flash drive.
Nathaniel maintained his smile but did not reply. They both let go of each other’s hands, turned around, and returned to their respective cars. Their cars started around the same time and sped away in opposite directions. After they left, the place regained its quietness as though the two were never there.
She stood up and looked into the distance. Sure enough, she saw a car approaching the park. The car was quite a distance away and stopped at an open area. However, no one got out of the car. Lily could see the car clearly as there were no obstructions in her line of sight. At the same time, the person in the car could see his surroundings
“Is this the play you’re talking about?” She looked back and asked Alexander.
Alexander shook his head and smiled, “Nope. Be patient.”
Lily patiently continued to wait. The person in the car did not get down from the car and did. not drive away. It looked like the person was waiting for something. Sure enough, another car came after half an hour.
The other car stopped near the previous car. A person got out of the first car. However, it was too far away, and it was impossible to see who the person was from Lily and Alexander’s angle. Lily could not even identify if the person was a man or a woman.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 645 “Which is where exactly?” Lily was surprised when the car stopped at an abandoned amusement park. ‘Did he bring me here for fun and leisure?’
However, she was not in the mood for this at the moment. “Let‘s watch a play.” Alexander mysteriously told her these words and took her hand to lead her toward a giant Ferris wheel.
Lily was dumbfounded.
Edward also got out of the car but did not follow them. Instead, he went in a different direction.
Lily was puzzled as Alexander led her toward a higher viewing platform.
It should have been an amusement park in the past, but due to the abandonment of the construction, it remained half–built with scaffoldings and other incomplete structures. Although most of the facilities here were half–built, the quality was still decent. At the least, the couple did not feel unsafe when stepping on the structures.
Lily wondered what Alexander‘s plan was. He brought her here during such hours and even said they were here to watch a play. She stood on the viewing platform and realized how far she could see.
Her range of sight allowed her to see places far away. In addition, only a few obstructions were in her line of sight, apart from some half–built facilities.
However, this place was deserted and without people around. Lily looked around but did not see a soul or an animal. Alexander said they were here to watch a play, but what play was there to watch in such a deserted place?
“You need to have the patience to watch the play,” Alexander answered Lily as if he could read her mind. He sat on the viewing platform bench and asked her to sit too, “It should start in a moment. It looks like we arrived early, but that‘s okay. We can enjoy the scenery here.”
Alexander looked around before opening the zip on a bag he had brought. He removed a thermos and a lunch box from it. Then he opened them and revealed the fragrant coffee in the thermos and a red velvet cake in the lunch box.
Lily looked at the two things in amazement. ‘When did he prepare all these?‘ She knew he had carried the bag when he got out of the car and thought it was important.
“Since we‘re watching a play, snacks and drinks are necessary. This is just right.” Alexander picked up a cup and poured her some coffee.
Lily was speechless and confused as she did not know what he had planned. She reached out to receive the cup.
“You‘ll find out in a moment.” He said.
Lily heard an unusual noise when they drank half of the coffee and ate a slice of cake each. The sound differed from the previous wind blowing through the abandoned amusement park’s facilities. It was the sound of a car’s engine from far away.
She stood up and looked into the distance. Sure enough, she saw a car approaching the park. The car was quite a distance away and stopped at an open area. However, no one got out of the car. Lily could see the car clearly as there were no obstructions in her line of sight. At the same time, the person in the car could see his surroundings. “Is this the play you‘re talking about?” She looked back and asked Alexander. Alexander shook his head and smiled, “Nope. Be patient.” Lily patiently continued to wait. The person in the car did not get down from the car and did not drive away. It looked like the person was waiting for something. Sure enough, another car came after half an hour.
The other car stopped near the previous car. A person got out of the first car. However, it was too far away, and it was impossible to see who the person was from Lily and Alexander‘s angle. Lily could not even identify if the person was a man or a woman.
When she realized that the person had stopped walking, Lily instinctively hid her face. She was afraid of being discovered.
“They won’t be able to see you from there with the distance and height.” Alexander, who had been sitting calmly, smiled and got up. He walked to her side and wrapped his arms around her shoulder.
Lily glared at him. “You knew that nothing could be seen from here clearly? You said that we’re here to watch a play. Are you testing my eyesight? I’m not a hawk!”
Alexander’s smile deepened, and he handed her something, “You are not a hawk, but you have better tools.”
When Lily peered down, she noticed high–magnification binoculars. It seemed that he was well prepared! She had grown intrigued by this play and did not want to chastise him about. not taking it out sooner. She used the binoculars to look in the direction of the two cars. Under the binoculars, everything was crystal clear.
Lily was shocked when she saw the person’s face.
“Nathaniel?!” How could it be him? Why was he at Sapphine City at this time? Moreover… had he not been missing for a while?”
The man in the other car did not get out, and Lily wished they would do so to answer her doubts. They began to argue shortly after. The man finally emerged from the car, and they addressed each other.
Henry Lodge!
Haha!
It looked like this would be an exciting play!
If she had not witnessed it with her own eyes, she never in a million years would have believed it was the two of them.
“Henry framed me because he colluded with Nate? Was it for revenge?” Lily blurted out.
She soon overthrew her previous guess, “No! Nate doesn’t have the ability to manipulate him. Henry’s ultimate goal is to rule the entire Lodge family.”
“It doesn’t matter what the reason for their collaboration is as long as we know their every move,” Alexander said nonchalantly. He took the binoculars from her for a look, “If my guess is right, their next step is to confirm your candle is indeed poisonous.”
“They don’t know my methods even if they know my formula…” Lily paused, then corrected herself, “No, Nate knows.”
After all, they were together for a long time and Nathaniel knew her well. He could easily replicate her methods if he could locate some expert help or high–end perfumers.
“He’s despicable!” She snarled. He was willing to frame others for the sake of fame and fortune.
“A mere candle is insufficient to implicate Justin. That said, Justin can exclude himself from
this as long as he shrugs it off and puts all the blame on you.” Alexander held the binoculars and said calmly, “You’re not your uncle’s target.”
“Justin wouldn’t do that!” Her mood fluctuated, and she clenched her fist.
Lily was feeling furious and annoyed. She wanted to rush over and expose their conspiracy if it were possible. However, she knew it was insignificant to expose their lies at that moment. Would she say they were colluding with each other? Henry could simply explain that it was a normal meet–up with a friend.
Lily knew she would be at a disadvantage if they were aware of her knowing this. Having witnessed what had transpired, she also realized that some Lodge relatives were acting in their self–interest and that some outsiders had infiltrated the family. If it were not the case, Henry would have no leverage.
She was determined to clear her name and put an end to the Lodge family’s disgrace once and for all.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 647
Henry and Nathaniel did not notice their existence and left after a while.
Lily was frozen, her eyes staring into the void before her. For a long while, she stood still, her arms clenched into fists by her sides.
Alexander turned her around and hugged her. “We’ll make them pay!”
After getting off the observation deck, Edward had already returned to the car. After they were all seated, Edward turned his head and said, “Mr. Russell, I’ve arranged everything.”
“Good.” Alexander nodded.
Lily did not ask him what he wanted Edward to do. She was utterly lost in her thoughts.
Assuming Henry and Nathaniel wished to start with the scented candles, they presumably wanted to make her defenseless against the claim. The candles must have been identical in both appearance and composition. A replica, however, would always fall short of the genuine article.
“Does La Beauté Group’s branch in Sapphine have materials and instruments for perfumery?” she asked suddenly.
Alexander was looking at the information on his mobile phone. Hearing her question, he was stunned and nodded, “Yes, but this branch hasn’t been open for very long. Their materials aren’t as complete as in Brown City.”
“That’s great. I’m fine with it! Can you take me there now?” She nodded.
“Sure. However, in terms of time, do you think you can make it?” Alexander was unsure what she wanted to do, but he guessed it was probably to deal with the framing. It was just that time. was so short. What else could she do?
“I can make it,” she said with certainty. She raised her wrist to look at the time on her watch. “Since we’re out, we need to do something so they’re not disappointed, right?” Alexander raised his eyebrows as he looked at her confident eyes. “Edward.”
“Alright, I understand!” Edward understood immediately and drove straight toward La Beauté Group’s branch in Sapphine.
After Henry went back, he immediately returned to his room. As soon as he booted up the computer, he inserted the flash drive and opened it.
He locked the door, drew the curtains, and rubbed his hands with high expectations as he looked at the computer screen. There were only a few things in the flash drive. It was simple, with two folders and a few sheets.
‘Huh?”
Henry initially opened the papers with skepticism, but as he peered closer, his expression changed. His eyes widened in surprise, and then his lips turned upward in an uncontrollable
He did not count on help from someone with the last name Hall. A lot of dirty tricks had been pulled behind the company’s back by those long–serving personnel. How did Justin not. notice?!
The fact that Justin seemed unaware of the meaning of “dereliction of duty” added a new layer of intrigue to the situation. He was, therefore, unqualified to hold the position of chairman. If Justin was aware but did nothing about it, he was still undeserving.
No matter how good his luck was, as long as he had the goods, he would have the upper hand.
After reading it several times, Henry was convinced that the data was accurate and there was no problem. Then he picked up the phone and called his subordinate, “Give me the contact. information on Nathaniel Hall.”
Since Henry always had Nathaniel get in touch with Gary on his behalf, he had never thought to ask. Still, Henry felt the need to verify it on his own.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 648
The call connected quickly as if Nathaniel had been expecting it. “Mr. Lodge, how are they? Are you satisfied with the gifts I gave you?”
“Of course, I’m satisfied. Haha!” Henry laughed, “However, I’m curious, how did you get these things?”
“We’re in a modern society where everyone is a businessman with no secrets. Just be attentive, investigate, and observe more. It’s easy. You returned far too hastily. If you came prepared, it’s not hard to find.”
While bolstering Henry’s confidence, Nathaniel deftly avoided discussing where he found the information.
Henry, his face beaming, was struck by these words. “Great! Let’s be friends. Wait till I take them down. In the future, your problem will be my problem.”
Nathaniel let out a soft chuckle, anticipating the arrogant response. “Then I’ll wait for your good news.”
“Wait a minute, who have you given this information to besides me?” Suddenly, Henry recalled something, and he asked again.
Nathaniel paused. “Mr. Lodge, please rest assured this information is of no use to others. except for you, even me. As for what to do, it’s up to you. After this, I think that no matter what you do, Justin will lose his position as the head of the Lodge family.”
“That’s good.” After hanging up, Nathaniel looked at the computer screen as he fell into deep. thought.
There was no better place to ask Justin about this knowledge than in front of the family elders and company’s shareholders. Nevertheless, he felt it was not enough to take Justin down.
Justin could win back the shareholders‘ confidence and save his job if he could convince them he was unaware of the situation, deal with the problem head–on, and find a method to compensate for the losses.
The most effective way was to take drastic measures.
These individuals were likely long–serving employees of the company. If he remembered correctly, they had joined Wilfred when they were young. Having them all removed might not help him at all.
In contrast, if he used this information to blackmail them, he would effectively be able to recruit them to his cause. Henry could fire Justin and win over the veteran employees if they were prepared to stand by him. After he took over, it benefited him to have complete authority. over the company.
‘Justin, don’t blame your Uncle Henry. All of this should be mine!‘
Lily was not idle either. She devoted herself to doing her work at the La Beauté Group’s branch laboratory and only allowed herself alone in it.
Alexander was sitting on the large sofa outside the laboratory, with tea, snacks, and fruits on
the coffee table. Besides Edward, who accompanied him, everyone stayed outside the room. Although they were curious, no one dared to discuss it.
No one knew why Mr. Russell would suddenly come to their small branch. He was merely in need of a lab and did not need to check the accounts or patrol. He did not ask for progress reports from them. The manager of the local branch was now standing outside, awaiting instructions.
Waiting outside, he occasionally glanced in the direction of the lab, unable to deduce what was going through Mr. Russell’s head. That woman… would be the future Mrs. Russell in the rumors?
Alexander extended his hand casually while his other hand flipped through the phone’s news and information. It was the same as he had anticipated, except they had yet to uncover Henry’s background.
He only knew that an ancient family also trained the group Henry brought back, but he did not know which family they were. However, there was something doubtful. Bang!
The sound was not very loud, but everyone standing outside heard it.
The branch manager was still hesitant to ask about it when he saw Mr. Russell get up immediately to open the door and rush into the laboratory.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 649
“What’s wrong?” Although Alexander looked calm, his expression showed relief after seeing that Lily was safe and sound. “Are you all right?”
Lily shook her head, “I accidentally spilled something.”
“It doesn’t matter as long as you are fine.” Alexander glanced at the spilled liquid and said to the person waiting for orders at the door, “Call someone to clean up, and be careful.”
After a pause, he looked at Lily again. “Is there anything you need to take away before they clean this up?”
“Here.” Lily held two small bottles in her hands, which seemed ready.
“Can we go then?”
Lily nodded. She was already tired. After all, they had suffered all day, and experimenting for a long time was exhausting.
The branch manager never expected Mr. Russell to come here. He neither inspected nor wanted them to report their work–instead, he only used the laboratory and left.
“If you don’t like it, we don’t have to go back to the Lodge family residence today,” Alexander said when he got into the car.
They said not to leave Sapphine, but as long as he wanted to, no one could stop him.
It was just that they were clear that they still stayed in Sapphine and at the Lodge family residence, not because she was trapped there, but because she must find out the truth and prove her innocence.
“No, let’s go back there.” Lily shook her head. She rested her head on Alexander’s shoulder and felt extremely at ease with him around. “Even if we sleep elsewhere today, we won’t get a good night’s sleep.”
If Henry got some incredible “evidence,” won’t he be eager to use it against them?
The car swayed gently, and it made Lily feel drowsy. She picked up the phone and glanced at the time. Just as she was about to put it down dazedly, she remembered something and picked it up again to open the web browser app.
Unsurprisingly, the news of her grandfather’s death was everywhere, occupying most of the pages.
The most interesting part was the focus of the news was not simply on the death but on why the news of the death came out after Wilfred had passed away for several days. It was reported. that someone who was not a Lodge family member had released the news.
Why did the Lodge family hide it? Was there any secret hidden in it? A busybody would never lack the curiosity to gossip.
Flicking her fingers up and down, Lily browsed the web. She guessed someone would lose their temper soon.
After a few minutes of reading, someone called. The number was unfamiliar. After all, Lily only stored a few numbers on her mobile phone “Hello?”
“Lily, where are you?” The voice was thick. It turned out to be Jonathan.
Unexpectedly, he called Lily.
“On our way back.” Lily smiled slightly. Her voice sounded lazy and tired. “What’s the matter, Granduncle Jonathan?”
Hearing that she was already coming back, Jonathan did not continue to say anything. After some silence, he said, “It’s nothing. Let’s talk when you get back.”
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 650
“Okay.” Lily deepened her smile as she looked at her phone. It was irony mixed with a bit of sadness.
This matter will soon have a conclusion. Then Lily’s grandfather would be buried in Everything should have an end, but ultimately, it was a matter of the Lodge family. It was impossible not to be sentimental as they were all from the Lodge family.
The back of Lily’s hand felt warm. She looked down and noticed a big warm hand holding her petite hand. Alexander whispered, “Let’s end this quickly. I’m sure that your grandfather also doesn’t want to see the Lodge family tearing themselves apart.
“Yeah.” Lily closed her eyes as she leaned on her husband. She needed a good rest as she knew there would be a disastrous situation when she got home.
Soon the car drove back with the lobby brightly lit, but it did not feel welcoming. Instead, it made one feel indifferent.
Lily and Alexander walked side by side into the house. Jonathan sat right in the middle. He raised his eyes and glanced at the couple when he heard them. When Jonathan saw Alexander, he frowned as his lips pursed a little. Jonathan could not hide the fact that he was unhappy.
Seeing his expression, Lily knew that the Lodge family… Jonathan and Henry, to be exact, were not happy to see Alexander. After all, he was a tricky “outsider.” They could not kick him out due to his status. He was like an invisible thorn pricking at their hearts.
Lily occasionally wondered, if Alexander had not been here, would her situation be much worse than it was now.
“Granduncle Jonathan, why are you still awake to wait for me?” Lily removed the scarf around her neck and said casually.
When Lily entered the house, she glanced around and did not see Henry. Why? Did he plan to let Jonathan handle her?
“Do you know the media has news of your grandfather’s death?” Jonathan asked with his eyes fixed on Lily.
“I know. I let the news out.” Lily sat down on the sofa naturally. She shook her head as she looked tired, rubbing her neck with one hand.
Jonathan did not expect her to admit it. He had already checked it. Indeed, Jonathan found that the news was not from Sapphine but from Brown City. After several connections, he found that the name of the person who let the news out was related to Lily.
Initially, Jonathan planned to show the evidence when she denied it, but he did not expect Lily to admit it immediately. He did not know what to say.
