Ch. 861..870
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 861
Arianna had settled her matters with Noah, but she still felt uneasy. She had not found the perfumer or Damian yet, and there was the issue involving Derrick.
She would have an even harder time if he had a will. Stephanie might look weak, but she was ambitious and would make a fuss about it.
Arianna squatted before Eloise and said earnestly, "You're the only one who can deal with this, Mom. Aunt Stephanie listens to you. You must ask her to hand over the power and shares Uncle Derrick has. Otherwise, it'll be difficult for me to gain a firm foothold in the company."
"You said your uncle wants to write a will?" Eloise asked after some thought.
"Yeah."
"He's keeping his guard up against US." Eloise paused and thought for a while before continuing, "How was your uncle's physical condition the last time you visited?"
"He wasn't doing too well, but the doctor managed to resuscitate him. I didn't expect him to survive.” Now that Arianna thought about it, she could not help feeling regretful.
‘Why didn't he just die? I wouldn't have so much trouble if he did.’
"Don't you think you've made a mistake, Ari?"
"What do you mean?"
Eloise patted her daughter's head, "Firstly, since your uncle's physical condition is already in such a state, you should take better care of him and prevent irrelevant people from disturbing his recuperation. How can you let the two directors bother him?
"Secondly, your aunt Stephanie has always been in poor health. How can you let her work so hard? You should let her rest more instead of taking care of your uncle. You can hire a caregiver instead."
Arianna listened quietly. She noted that her mother still had unfinished words and could not help but ask, Is there a third?”
"Thirdly..." Eloise paused, withdrew her hand, and slowly stood up, "Your elder brother has been away for a long time and encountered an accident. It's pointless to hide such news for a long time. You should inform everyone, including the company and the general public, and hold a decent funeral for your elder brother. This way, you can grant your uncle and aunt's wishes.”
Arianna was stunned and repeatedly nodded, "You're right, Mom! Your advice is the best!"
Derrick and Stephanie's insistence would be pointless as soon as Arianna revealed the news of Benedict's death. It would also be a deadly blow to Derrick. Who knows, he might have even gotten too agitated and passed away.
As for her mother's first two pieces of advice, Arianna should have asked someone to take control at the hospital from the get-go.
If so, they would not have been able to take advantage of the loopholes.
"I’ll do it now, Mom!” She stood up and prepared to go to the hospital as soon as possible.
"Wait a minute! I'll go with you," Eloise said. She had acted with her sister-in -law for so many years. How could she miss the show this time?
There was a musty smell in a dark room, and the high humidity made one feel uncomfortable. One could vaguely hear the sound of some strange insects. Feeling cold in this kind of weather made one feel very uneasy and frightened.
He opened his eyes in a daze, only to find the light dimmed. He also felt cold. Damian looked around but did not know where he was.
"Help! Is anyone there?! Help!" He shouted, and his voice echoed in the room, but there was no sign of movement outside. His voice was not as loud as he had imagined, and he felt weak. He had no strength left in his body, and someone had tied his hands and feet with ropes.
The surrounding area was empty. It was as if there was nothing else in this room except Damian.
“Help!”
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 862
Damian was hungry and tired. He did not know how many times he had shouted but only knew that his mouth was dry and his throat was hurting. At this moment, the door opened.
The iron gate made a sharp, piercing noise. The sound of leather shoes stepping on the ground made him feel like they were about to take him to an execution ground.
Damian's heart pounded in fear. He was tired but still opened his eyes to look at the person who approached him unhurriedly with a tray.
It was a tall black figure whose face Damian could not see clearly, but for some reason, he thought the person was smiling. The person's smile made Damian shudder.
"Who... are you?" He asked hesitantly and instinctively backed away. However, there was no room for retreat as his back was against the wall. His eyes darted around frantically.
"You don't recognize me anymore, Mr. Damian?" The person stood before Damian and looked down at him as if looking at his prey. There was a cold smile on his lips while his eyes were even colder.
"It's you!" Damian widened his eyes in surprise when he finally saw the person's face clearly and suddenly sat upright. However, he was weak, and his violent movement pulled his wounds, causing him to grimace in pain.
"It's you! It’s actually you! Why did you kidnap me? Do you want money? My dad can get someone to kill you right away!"
Damian cursed angrily, but the man remained indifferent without the slightest hint of fear.
The man chuckled and replied with a mocking smile, "I don’t believe that!” He squatted as he responded to Damian. Faint lights shone over his body as he moved and revealed his face-it was Nathaniel.
"Y-You..."
"Don't you know your current situation, Mr. Damian? Do you still remember what it was before you came here?" Nathaniel kindly reminded him.
Damian was stunned and confused. He thought carefully and recalled that he had been a public enemy because of the perfume scandal. Damian dared not appear in public and became a complete loser. On the other hand, Arianna was about to take away all of the Tanner family's assets.
"It was you!" Damian noticed something when he thought of this. He raised his finger at Nathaniel, accusing him, “It was all your doing. You're the one who set me up! The perfume project, the perfumer, the model-it was all you, right? Why are you treating me like this? Who ordered you? It's that b* tch, Arianna, right? What are both of you planning to do?!"
Nathaniel squatted, rested his chin on his hand, and looked at Damian. Suddenly, he laughed loudly, “Come on, Mr. Damian. You're overthinking! Do you think we have such deep hatred? Do I need to play such a big game just to frame you?"
Damian was at a loss for words. He thought about it and asked, "So, it was all Arianna's doing?”
"You and Arianna are half-siblings. Have you never thought of what she would have left after you took everything away?" Nathaniel sighed and looked at Damian as though he was an idi*t.
Damian was a silly child who had never experienced the harshness of society. He was too naive and simple.
"Hmph, I knew long ago that she was a scheming b*tch! Still, I didn't expect her to be so cruel and dig a big hole for me to jump into! The project was a trap from the beginning. She was just waiting for me to take the bait, right?" Damian thought he had grabbed a big piece of pie at the beginning.
Unexpectedly, it was a trap.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 863
‘That's not it," Nathaniel shook his head and elaborated, "Don't forget that you were the one who wanted this project. My initial suggestion was genuine, as I wanted to ensure the project would succeed.
"However, you insisted on interfering even when you didn't know what you were doing. You were afraid I would take your credit, and since you were so inclined to be a fool, I figured I might as well give you a push!”
Damian was speechless in the face of Nathaniel’s mockery. so he turned to face the other side. "What do you want from me now that I'm here? It's not like you can ask for ransom."
Who would still be willing to help Damian at a time like this? Arianna could not wait for him to disappear, and as for Joseph, even if he were willing to pay the ransom, he would not be able to fork out the money.
If Damian did get out, he would still have to pay his dues in prison. He leaned his head against the wall as he felt disheartened.
Just a few days ago, he was so happy and sure of himself, as if the whole world was his. Yet, now...
"Of course, I’m not going to ask for random. Besides, you're not worth a penny now." Nathaniel smiled. His legs were getting numb as he squatted, so he stood up and stretched. "I'm here to save you."
"Save me?" Damian blinked his eyes and looked at Nathaniel in disbelief. Even if Nathaniel was not the mastermind behind this plan, Damian was pretty sure he had conspired with Arianna to kidnap him. However, Nathaniel claimed he was trying to save Damian. How was that even possible?
"You don't believe me, do you?” Nathaniel looked at Damian, then turned and walked toward the entrance. He opened the metal gate, allowing sunshine to enter the room. "If you don't believe me, you can try to walk out from here, and I won't stop you.
Though, I advise you to think wisely. If you leave, think of what awaits you outside.”
Damian looked at the opened door and back at Nathaniel with suspicion. Nathaniel just stood next to the door without stopping
Damian from leaving. Damian thought for a moment, placed his hand against the wall, and stood up. Then he limped toward the exit while bumping into the door. He took the opportunity to rest as he felt feeble, then glanced at Nathaniel again.
Nathaniel was still standing in the same position as he waved one of his hands toward the door, signaling to Damian that he could leave. Damian gritted his teeth and decided not to care about Nathaniel's true intention and focus on leaving.
Damian was about to wobble out the door when Nathaniel said, Think carefully. Think of the situation that awaits you the moment you leave this place. What you'd have to face and what kind of future awaits you.”
Damian stopped abruptly after hearing what Nathaniel said. He wanted to continue stepping forward. but his legs would not budge. Damian knew Nathaniel was right. There was not much difference between him staying here or leaving.
Even if he had managed to escape, he would still have to face the charges pressed against him. Arianna had made sure to leave him with no choice but to spend his time in prison. He would lose everything if he were in prison and had no hope.
‘No, I can't go to prison, I won't!’ He thought as he stopped trying to leave and leaned against the door frame. He did not want to look into the tiny, rundown house. so he just stood there, staring at Nathaniel.
"What do you want from me? What are you planning?” Damian glared daggers at Nathaniel. He knew if Nathaniel had wanted him dead, he would not be standing here talking.
Besides, Damian was too weak even to put up a fight. If Nathaniel decided to throw him at the side of the road, Damian would not be able to defend himself.
"I told you I'm here to help.” Nathaniel smiled. "I know what it’s like to be abandoned. chased down, and beaten up. You feel like a piece of trash, don't you?"
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 864
Damian lifted his head and narrowed his eyes at Nathaniel. He also knew of Nathaniel's past and had heard about Nathaniel's failed attempt at sustaining his business, resulting in MN Inc.'s bankruptcy.
Nathaniel was in a lot of debt and treated like a pest on the streets.
Everyone wanted to either stay away from him or beat him up. Damian was not sure who had helped him, but Nathaniel had ended up becoming one of the project managers at
Tanner Corporation. It was mainly because of this that Damian disliked him.
Damian thought he did not have the right to be in that position because he was a failure. He had even suspected something unusual had happened between Nathaniel and
Arianna. Unfortunately, he was just like Nathaniel now. Life was so unpredictable.
I can get you out of prison. Plus, I can ensure you will no longer worry about your reputation when appearing in public. Then you can return to work at Tanner Corporation as usual. Better yet, you might even obtain a higher position." Nathaniel was skillful at persuading Damian.
His every word tempted Damian greatly and rekindled a gleam in his eyes, but soon after, they dimmed as Damian did not believe what Nathaniel had said.
"Ha, I wish!" Damian laughed. His laughter was mocking both Nathaniel and himself.
‘Of course, I want this to be true, but how can it be possible?!’ Damian thought. The current situation was not easy to escape, so how could Nathaniel save Damian’s reputation and dream of advancing in the company?
"I can make your dream a reality if you want it." Nathaniel turned around.” Come with me if you're ambitious enough and genuinely want that."
Damian looked at Nathaniel’s back with hesitation. When he noticed Nathaniel did not turn back to look at him, he quickly followed. As they exited the abandoned building, Damian realized he did not know where they were. The building looked like an abandoned construction site, and he was locked in a small, empty room.
Nathaniel walked to the edge and stood there. He was not afraid of falling over, putting his hands behind him, and stared afar. Damian looked at his back for a while before shuffling over to him slowly. However, he dared not stand as close to the edge as
Nathaniel-instead, he chose to remain behind Nathaniel. “What are you planning?"
"I want to help you." Nathaniel smiled. "But, it all depends on you. Are you willing to let me help you?"
"How do you plan on helping me?" Damian asked while licking his dry lips. Even though all of this made zero sense, he was still attracted to it.
‘No one would reject an offer to help them escape their swap and give them another chance at reaching their summit. If it's possible, why not?’ Damian concluded.
"I have enough resources and proof to help clear your charges and make you walk away from all the negative press. I can even help you push all of this onto Arianna!"
Nathaniel smirked cruelly. "You can walk free and eliminate your competition on the way. So, how about it?”
"Stop lying to me!" Damian sneered, "How would this benefit you? Besides, it can't be as easy as you said." After this lesson, it was difficult for Damian to trust anyone easily.
He needed to protect himself from unrealistic expectations. He continued studying Nathaniel as he pondered Nathaniel's true motives behind this.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 865
Nathaniel knew what Damian was concerned about, so he smiled casually. ‘You can choose whether or not to trust me: it's entirely up to you. However, I'm only giving you this opportunity once."
Damian was confused by his actions but tempted at the same time. How could one not give in when the offer was so attractive? He gulped and asked, "What do you need me to do?"
'TH let you leave, then you have to surrender yourself to the police," Nathaniel drawled, looking at the view before him and not at Damian. "You must admit to using harmful ingredients in the perfumes and that you were the one in charge of looking for a perfumer.
‘You need to tell the police that you were responsible for everything, including assigning La Beaute Group's Lily Christian as the perfumer responsible for this project. However, you must emphasize that she was responsible for using harmful ingredients and that you were unaware."
"Who's the person from La Beaute Group?” Damian was confused as he had never heard of that person’s name, though he did find it familiar.
"I'll send you a photograph of her, but that's not important. Even if you don't remember what she looks like, it's fine, as long as you remember to relay everything I’ve just told you to the police. Ensure you tell the police that you're the mastermind, that you were responsible for everything,” Nathaniel instructed.
Damian widened his eyes in disbelief, "Why should I do this? Isn't that just suicide? I don't think you're trying to help me at all! You're just spying for Arianna and trying to kill me faster!" If he did confess to all the crimes, his life would be over. How was
Nathaniel claiming to be helping him when he was just trying to trick him?
"I've told you. You can choose whether or not to trust me." Nathaniel turned to look at Damian. The sun was shining from behind him, resulting in Damian only seeing Nathaniel's blurry silhouette, not Nathaniel'’s expression.
Nathaniel continued, "If I weren't confident in my plan, I wouldn't have suggested it to you. Just because you've chosen to confess to the crimes doesn't make you guilty. When everyone discovers you were not the one responsible, the public will naturally trust you more."
Damian did not quite understand what Nathaniel was trying to say, but for some reason, he felt it made perfect sense.
‘Then, what's in it for you? Why are you so determined to help me?” After experiencing this incident, Damian was more cautious than before. He knew there was no way people would help others without wanting something in return. Damian was sure Nathaniel wanted something from him, but he could not understand his motives.
At first, Nathaniel worked with Arianna to get Damian in trouble. Yet now Nathaniel was saying he wanted to help Damian. It was evident Nathaniel was no simpleton. He was intelligent and sly. Damian was in a dilemma, but there were no better options. He could only trust Nathaniel.
"It's elementary, really." Nathaniel walked away. Damian finally noticed two rundown chairs and something that looked like a cabinet. On it was a briefcase. Nathaniel removed some documents from the briefcase, including a stamp and pen.
"Come here," he looked at Damian and instructed. As if in a trance, Damian walked toward him obediently. Nathaniel passed him the documents and ordered, "Signed these papers."
"What are these?" Damian studied the documents and was surprised to see they were documents to pass his shares at Tanner Corporation to Nathaniel and a document for a promotion. The document stated that he would pass 55% of his total shares at Tanner Corporation to Nathaniel and appoint him as the company’s new director.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Damian shook his head and looked at Nathaniel as if he was crazy. "I don't even have 5% of the company shares, so how can I give you 55%?"
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 866
If Damian had that number of shares, he would not need to fight with Arianna for power. Even if Joseph gave him everything he had, it would not add up to more than 10% of company shares.
"Just because you don't have it now doesn't mean you won't have it in the future,” Nathaniel sounded so sure of himself, "To prevent you from going against your promise, I want you to sign this now so that I can all feel at ease.”
"Are you sure?" Damian raised his eyebrows and asked in distrust. If he had 55% of shares from Tanner Corporation, he would get to call the shots as the whole corporation would be his. If that time came, Damian would not have to be afraid of anyone and would not even care about his position in the company.
After all, he only wanted to advance in the company and replace Arianna as an essential person that could support the Tanner Corporation. Still, he had never once imagined he would someday be able to obtain this amount of company shares.
It felt like a dream but was this possible? Nathaniel did not look like he was joking. However, Damian was still hesitant as he held the pen. If Damian somehow obtained 55% of company shares, it would mean the company would belong to Nathaniel the moment Damian signed the document. Would Damian be willing to give up everything after all he had done?
Damian had underestimated Nathaniel's ambitions. He thought Nathaniel only wanted the general manager position or, at most, the company's managing director. He never expected Nathaniel to want the whole Tanner Corporation.
"Why? You're unwilling to give them up?” Nathaniel smiled as he noticed the look on Damian's face. "Well, it’s not surprising. It is a huge amount. You can still choose not to sign them over and walk out from here freely. Unfortunately, you'd probably have to spend the rest of your life in prison.
‘Though your charges aren't severe, your sister has already employed the best lawyers to ensure your sentence will be as long as possible. You better prepare yourself for that. Anyway, it ultimately doesn't matter, does it? Since these won't be yours anymore."
Nathaniel’s words were like sharp daggers driving through Damian's heart. However, what he said was the truth. Damian had already lost everything, even though he was unwilling to give up the power and riches. Still, he had never really possessed them, so it was quite a vague feeling.
Although it was a shame, those things were not even his, so there were no differences. At least, if he chose to sign this contract, he would first be able to walk away freely and move around without worries. There was also a possibility that he could take down
Arianna in the process.
After some thought, Damian finally concluded after weighing all the pros and cons. He tightened his grip on the pen and signed his name on the contract. He finished by stamping his custom seal on the contract.
Nathaniel took the contract and checked in detail to ensure nothing was amiss before placing it into his briefcase. He smiled, saying, "Mr. Damian, you're free to go. These few days must've been tough for you. Make sure you rest well, and don't forget to surrender yourself to the police.”
"You will help me, right?” Damian looked at Nathaniel hesitantly, as he still had a lingering doubt.
Nathaniel only smirked. "Even if you don't trust me, you should trust the contract you just signed. If I choose not to save you, these will be in vain too." He tapped his briefcase lightly after placing the documents back into it.
Damian thought for a moment and agreed with Nathaniel. Even though he did not know what Nathaniel had installed, he was willing to believe Nathaniel would not go through all this trouble just to trick him.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 867
Two major news appeared on the headlines-the first being Arianna and Noah's public announcement that they were in a relationship. The media caught the couple on camera on a date being intimate with each other.
When asked if they had plans to get married or if they got involved because their families had proposed a business marriage, the couple gave the media a vague response while not denying its possibility.
If the two families did decide to be united in marriage, it would be massive news as Arianna and Noah had issues with Lily. The Tanner family was responsible for pressing charges against Lily for a corporate crime.
Simultaneously, the Perfumers’ Society claimed that Lily did not have an official license to practice her career as a perfumer.
With these two issues combined, it looked like they were working together to take Lily down.
There was also the news about something happening within the Perfumers’ Society. At first, the public was distracted from the issue of Lily's perfumer license. However, the media refocused their attention again after Arianna and Noah publicly announced their relationship.
Sources claimed the couple was working together to take Lily down. There were also people claiming that Lily was the one who had problems, as she was not a well-known public figure, so why would the Tanner family or the Perfumers’ Society work together just to make things difficult for her?
Those claiming Lily had a problem also spread false information and her audio recording from before, saying if she could add medical properties to her perfumes, she could also add harmful substances.
Arguments and discussions happened both online and offline. Fortunately, this did not affect Lily as she was busy with her work and preparing for her counterattack. She had almost completed her new line of perfume, which progressed at the same speed as Lisa's orders. All that was left was the lab test, and everything would be ready.
Lily was determined to remain silent as she allowed the Tanner side to make noise continuously. She was just waiting for the court to make its final decision. Soon after, something huge happened as well. Even though it was not as sensational as the two other news before, it was shocking to the parties involved.
Damian, who had disappeared for a few days, suddenly appeared at the police station and turned himself in. He claimed he was the mastermind behind this corporate crime and told Lily to add harmful ingredients to the Tanner Corporation's new perfume. He also claimed he wanted consumers to become addicted to the smell and continue to purchase the perfumes.
Although he seemed honest and had given the police so much information about the case, they were somehow contradicting.
For example, the only link between Lily and him was just a single transaction, nothing else.
Furthermore, he could not even tell the police where or when they met to discuss their plans. The police also could not find the perfumer Damian had previously encountered. If what he said was true, there was no need to hide this perfumer.
In addition, Damian surrendering himself to the police happened too abruptly. It was so strange that the police could not help but become suspicious of his true intentions.
Arianna was very busy recently. On the one hand, she was preparing for a coup to overthrow her uncle. On the other, she had to prepare for her wedding with Noah. Arianna needed to travel back and forth between Kingsland and Sapphine city to meet with Noah's family.
These things were already tiring her out, so when she heard the news about Damian surrendering to the police, she was stunned beyond words.
"Who found him? Was it the police? Where did they find him? How many days was he gone? Did they say where he went? Did he really get kidnapped?" Arianna asked the person reporting to her in a low voice.
"No, he went to the police station alone, but no one knows where he came from. No one kidnapped him since there were no requests for a ransom. Anyway, he's at the police station, and they have him in custody. He had already admitted that he was the one behind this.”
"What? He admitted?" Arianna was dumbfounded. "What did he admit to exactly?"
"Damian said he was the mastermind behind this and was the one who approached Lily and told her to add the harmful ingredients to the perfumes. Since he has admitted everything, we no longer have to worry about him."
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 868
Arianna only shook her head. She did not seem relieved-instead, countless thoughts ran through her head. "No, no, something isn't night."
If Damian had suddenly appeared and told the police someone had framed him, that would make more sense. No one knew better than Arianna that Damian thought someone had framed him, and according to his character, he could not keep something to himself for such a long time.
Damian had disappeared for some time and reappeared just to surrender to the police. All this was so unusual. Arianna knew something was amiss when this bizarre incident happened. She feared it would ruin her plans.
"Nothing would go wrong, right?” Arianna’s underling frowned. "He has already confessed, so what else is there to verify? He was responsible for the project, so it's only normal for him to take responsibility. Maybe you're just overthinking, Ms. Tanner.”
"What do you know!" She reprimanded, "If it were that simple, why would I have gone through so much hassle to frame him? Where's Nathaniel?”
"Mr. Hall has called in sick these past few days, so he's not in the office now."
"Fine. You can leave. Make sure to pay attention to information released by the police. Contact me as soon as you have more information," Arianna instructed.
"Yes, Ms. Tanner."
Arianna felt restless. There was something wrong, and she could feel it, but she could not tell what it was. Damian was not an intelligent guy and would not be able to think of such a detailed plan. Judging from his rash personality, he would not have confessed so honestly to the police if he thought someone had framed him.
After a moment of thought, Arianna took her phone and called Joseph," Dad?"
"Are you happy now?" Joseph was silent for a moment before he asked mockingly.
Arianna chose to remain silent.
"Since your brother has to go to prison, you're quite happy, aren't you? Congratulations, President Arianna!” Joseph gritted his teeth before hanging up with a bang. Arianna could tell her father hated her now. She was so busy recently that she had failed to notice what was happening around her. She did not care about her father's whereabouts as well. She wanted to ask where he had been, but Joseph did not want anything to do with her. Judging from his tone, Arianna was confident her father had not helped Damian. She could hear he was still upset.
‘Does this mean even dad doesn't know why Damian was doing this?* Arianna thought.
Immediately after calling her father, she called Nathaniel. The phone rang for some time before someone finally answered it. His voice sounded hoarse and nasally, "Hello?"
"I heard you haven't been at the office for a few days. Do you know that a lot has been going on? Do you still want that promotion or not?" Arianna said in annoyance.
"I'm sick, and I've already handed in my sick leave. You can't just make me work when I'm still unwell," Nathaniel sniffed and said while blowing his nose into a piece of tissue.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 869
Arianna instinctively moved her phone away from her ear as if hearing Nathaniel blow his nose would dirty her. After waiting for him to finish, she continued, “Could you power through it? I need you to come into the office. I have something important to discuss with you.”
"What's the emergency?” Nathaniel sneezed and asked, I saw the news, aren't you getting married soon? Congratulations! Is this related to your wedding plans? Don't worry. I'll be sure to attend the ceremony.”
"Enough of your nonsense!" Arianna frowned and continued in a low tone," I'm not talking about that-I'm talking about Damian.”
"Didn't he just turn himself in?” Everyone heard the news since the Tanner Corporation ensured the public discovered the perfume incident. So, everyone was waiting for the court's decision as this issue had garnered much public interest.
"Yes, he turned himself in, but don't you think it's strange?” Arianna's brows furrowed. "There must be someone behind orchestrating this. Damian had disappeared for a few days, yet he suddenly returned and surrendered. Don't you think something's amiss? Based on how he is, he would most likely come and confront me about this instead of surrendering himself to the police."
"Maybe he had an epiphany and decided not to fight with you for the position anymore?" Nathaniel remarked dryly.
“I'm out of patience now, so can you please be serious? If we don't find out who's behind this, we might lose everything we've worked for because we won't be able to prepare for a counterattack if something unusual happens!" Arianna paused and continued, "Do you think the person behind thls.Js my uncle?”
"Your uncle? Do you mean Derrick Tanner? Isn't he lying in the hospital? How would he be able to do this?" Nathaniel asked in confusion.
Arianna was also doubtful. However, that was the only possibility she could think of. Derrick's health was deteriorating, but he was not unconscious. Since he could still get his lawyer to prepare his will, what would stop him from making Damian do his bidding?
Besides, he also had his wife to help him. Although she looked gentle on the outside, Arianna knew what Stephanie was truly capable of.
Although Arianna had sent people to the hospital to ensure Damian would not be able to enter these past two days, she did not know what Damian was up to when he disappeared. She wondered if he had managed to sneak into the hospital to talk to Derrick. So, there was still a possibility that Derrick might be behind all this.
Since Benedict died, Derrick and Stephanie's health had been taking a turn for the worst, so they would need a successor to the company. Still, they would never allow an outsider to be a successor to the Tanner
Corporation, so the only candidates were Arianna, Joseph, and Damian.
If Derrick had the same intentions as Joseph or wanted to get rid of Arianna, Damian would naturally be Derrick’s best bet. Arianna could not help the shivers running through her spine as she thought of these possibilities. If Derrick genuinely wanted to get rid of her, she would be in grave danger.
"Stop staying home, especially since this is a crucial time! I need you to be at the office, and I need to go to the hospital!” She finished and hung up.
Arianna exited her office and called Eloise, "Mom, I'm going to the hospital to check on Uncle Derrick. Where are you now? Let's meet at the hospital.”
When Arianna arrived at the hospital, she was shocked to find out that there was no one in Derrick’s room. His ward and the entire floor were empty. The scariest part was that the people she had sent disappeared along with her aunt. It was as if everyone had vanished into thin air.
Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 870
"Where is he? Where is everyone?" Arianne’s mind went blank as she stumbled backward. Looking at the empty ward rooms, she had a bad feeling about this.
Coincidentally, a nurse walked by. Arianna grabbed her by the collar and questioned fiercely, 'Where are they?! Where did the patient and his caregiver go?!"
The nurse was frightened as she stuttered, 'T-They I-left!"
"Since when? When were they discharged? How could he leave the hospital when he was so sick?! Besides, why didn't you inform his family? Who allowed him to leave?!"
Arianna was hysterical as she tightened her grip on the nurse's uniform collar.
The poor nurse was almost choking, "I-I don't k-know!"
“Ari! Ari, what do you think you're doing?!" Eloise was shocked when she saw what her daughter was doing. She immediately stepped forward and separated Arianna from the nurse.
When the nurse regained her freedom, she held her neck and ran away in horror.
Arianna pointed toward the room and said, "Mom, Uncle Derrick is gone. How can the doctor possibly discharge him? He was already about to die! Even if he got out, it would only be to the morgue.” Arianna could not believe what was happening.
"Ari, you need to calm down. There's something wrong here! Where are the people you've sent to keep an eye on Derrick and Stephanie?" Eloise was just as shocked. However, due to her age, she was more experienced at handling her emotions and forced herself to calm down and think.
"I don’t know. I did not receive any information from them. Maybe they've betrayed me?" Arianna's eyes had lost their sparkle, as she had never felt this lost in her entire life.
Derrick had left the hospital, and she had lost whatever leverage she had against him. It could only mean Derrick was most likely the one behind everything, including drafting his will before Arianna's eyes and instructing Damian to surrender to the police.
‘He orchestrated everything to trick me! Uncle Derrick isn't dying at all!’
"Enough! Let's try to make a call and ask," Eloise suggested.
Arianna took her phone stiffly and made the call. After it rang for a while, no one on the other side answered, and the dialing tone ended. Her eyes darkened. "See? I told you so!"
"Since this is something out of the ordinary, we must consider a countermeasure. Let's call your father and see if he knows anything about this,” Eloise suggested after thinking for a few seconds.
"Dad?" Arianna laughed mockingly and shook her head, "He probably doesn't even want to acknowledge my existence now. Also, he would most likely be the one to rejoice at my downfall. Maybe he was even partially responsible for this. All that matters to him is his precious son anyway."
"Ari, stop making matters worse. Aside from your uncle missing, we don't know the entire situation yet, so don’t panic! Listen to me, and call your father to see if he has any information about this. After that, we'll discuss what we should do next.”
Arianna started to calm down after listening to her mother’s advice. After some thought, she agreed to Eloise’s suggestion as she had no better options.
However, she decided to do something else first before making the call. " Mom, can you give me a moment? There's something I need to check.” She finished, turned around abruptly, and started walking away.
Eloise was taken aback but decided not to question her daughter-instead, she quickly followed behind Arianna.
Arianna got to the chief doctor's office and went inside without knocking," Doctor Franklin, were you the one who permitted my uncle's release?"
