Ch. 11..15: The Adorable Twins and Their CEO Daddy Chapter 11-15
Chapter 11 Chased By Bad Guys
The backlight highlighted Maurice’s tall figure while he stood in front of the French window. “You don’t want compensation anymore?”
Upon hearing those words, Eliana became furious.
How could a male prostitute like him be so arrogant? He had left her alone in the wilderness the last time. How could he be so kind as to compensate her?
“Can you even afford to?”
Eliana found it funny that a male prostitute like Preston was speaking to her with so much confidence.
“That doesn’t matter. I’ll manage to pool money,” Maurice answered with a faint smile.
His decisive reply rendered her speechless for a moment.
“Let’s talk about it after you get the money,” she retorted with a snort.
“Don’t worry. I will pay you back slowly…” Hearing his low, hoarse voice, she felt as though it was her lover whispering in her ear.
And because she was in a daze, she almost believed his words.
But the next moment, she felt like he was bragging to her.
She wanted to laugh at him when he told her that he would not be able to afford to compensate.
After hanging up, Maurice sat back in his chair with a smile on his lips.
“Mr. Moran, why are you so interested in her?” Corbin was confused. He could tell that there was something odd about Eliana, but instead of driving her away, Maurice was trying to protect her.
Maurice looked at his phone casually. “If it’s not her, then my uncle would send some other woman to me.”
Moreover, Eliana had a unique way of handling things.
She was a bit of a rebel.
Early morning on a fine day, Eliana left home and went to work.
The kindergarten was not far away. Holding the kids’ hands, Kimora slowly walked to the school.
All of a sudden, Aileen stopped in her tracks, fumbled through her pockets, and curled her lips. “I left my candy ring at home.”
Since Kimora failed to coax her to give up the candy ring, she had no choice but to take them to the supermarket.
Adrian watched Kimora going to pay the bill. He crossed his arms over his chest and said with a sneer, “You’re not a little girl anymore, Aileen. Why are you still so obsessed with eating candy?”
Aileen pouted and answered confidently, “I’m only four years old! Which means that I’m still young…”
Before she could say anything more, she got hit and fell down.
Adrian immediately hugged his sister. However, since he was also a child, he was not strong enough to support them both.
After they fell down, they looked ahead in shock.
It was another boy, who had knocked them down.
“I…I’m sorry.” The boy got up from the ground. He was dressed in a delicate suit, and he seemed to be a little flustered. “Can you help me? There are some bad guys chasing after me!”
“What? Bad guys?”
Aileen jumped up decisively and put on a serious look on her face. “Don’t be afraid. We will definitely help you!”
“Wait a minute.” However, Adrian looked at him vigilantly, and stopped Aileen. “Where are the bad guys?”
The little boy pointed at a few tall men in suits, who were running towards him in a hurry, looking fierce.
But Adrian still doubted him. “Where are your parents? How can they let a kid like you roam alone outside?”
At that moment, one of the fierce men looked over at them.
Aileen was so anxious that she held her brother’s hand and said, “Oh, stop asking questions and hide him first!”
She then grabbed the boy’s hand and ran to the bathroom, which was located near the back door of the supermarket.
Shaking his head helplessly, Adrian followed them.
Once they were inside the bathroom, the little boy touched his chest with lingering fear. “Thank you.”
Aileen stared at him with her curious black eyes. “What’s your name?”
“My name is Silas Gorman.”
Adrian frowned and asked, “So why are they chasing you?”
After a moment of silence, Silas rolled his eyes and made up an answer. “Maybe they have a grudge against my family.”
“If they really have a grudge against you, then will they make things difficult for us too?” Aileen glanced at her brother.
Silas obviously seemed to have misunderstood her words. Lowering his eyes, he said, “You’d better leave now. Leave me alone.”
“Aileen, do you mean…”
Looking at his sister, Adrian understood that she had come up with a solution.
“Adrian, let’s help him!” Aileen pulled her brother’s sleeve, acting like a spoiled child.
Adrian couldn’t refuse when he looked into her watery eyes.
He couldn’t help but spoil his sister.
He quickly walked up to Silas, grabbed his suit jacket, and took it off. “Take off your clothes and give them to me. Hurry!”
Chapter 12 This Kid Looks Familiar
“Huh?” Silas was in shock.
But Adrian looked calm and determined.
“Just hide here and don’t make a sound. I will try to draw them away.”
After Kimora paid the bill, she could not find the twins, so she became really anxious and asked the shop assistant to check the surveillance video.
That moment, she noticed a kid running past them.
The shop assistant immediately turned to Kimora and asked, “Is that the child you’re looking for?”
Kimora immediately turned around and recognized the boy. “Adrian!”
But Adrian ran out of the supermarket.
“Over there! Hurry!”
The men, who were waiting to catch Silas, ran after Adrian, thinking that he was the boy they were after.
“Why are you guys chasing him?” When Kimora saw Adrian being chased by those men, she could not help but shout, “Help! Someone is trying to kidnap a child…”
She tried to chase them, but she tripped and fell down on the ground. When she looked up again, she could not see Adrian anywhere, but she ignored her pain, quickly dialed a number on her phone and
sobbed, “Miss Pierce, something terrible happened!”
At the same time, Adrian lowered his hat, and continued to run forward without turning back.
He did not dare to turn around. Feeling a sudden burning sensation in his throat, he took a deep breath, only to find that he had exhausted himself.
However, those men were still chasing after him.
Fortunately for him, he was able to blend with the crowd as he was short. Hence, the men could not catch up with him for a while.
Although it had only been few days since he arrived in the city, he had already familiarized himself with the streets. He decided to make a detour to buy some time.
His battle of physical strength ended around the corner, where the road was being repaired.
Out of breath, Adrian stood in front of the construction team. He had no way of escaping. Soon, the men rushed to him, picked him up, and took him to their car.
Even though Adrian was aware that things were not going the way he wanted to, he still did not cry. Instead, he remained calm as he waited.
The car arrived at a villa after a while, and the man carefully escorted him into a room.
Hanging his head low, Adrian heard a few dull thuds.
He glanced around and saw a man sitting from across him.
The man was dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, and boxing gloves. Every time he threw a punch or swept his leg, the sandbag shook violently, which scared Adrian.
In a respectful tone, the men in suits called out to him in unison, “Mr. Moran.”
Maurice took off his gloves and walked to Adrian.
Taking a deep breath, Adrian clenched his fists nervously.
The next moment, someone took off Adrian’s hat.
He then heard Maurice’s hoarse voice. “Who is this?”
The men in suits looked at Adrian in a hurry. Wasn’t he Silas?
Adrian chuckled softly to himself when he saw the surprised look in their eyes. ‘These idiots!’
He then took off his mask and raised his he
ad. He was just a little kid, but his fearless gaze stunned Maurice for a second.
‘Why does this kid look familiar?’
Maurice squatted down, looked at Adrian, and asked, “Who gave you these clothes?”
Adrian blinked his eyes and shook his head. “These are my clothes.”
“Really?” Maurice narrowed his eyes at him.
The men in suits began to sweat.
Adrian retorted, “I found them on the side of the road.”
“Oh.” Maurice stood up, and threw his boxing gloves on the table. “Noses of the kids who lie tend to grow.”
“Noses of the adults who lie tend to grow,” Adrian replied calmly. He even pulled Maurice’s trousers, and requested, “You should squat down a little. I am too exhausted to raise my head and look at you.”
Upon hearing that, Maurice was speechless.
Corbin, who was standing by the door, immediately lowered his head and tried to suppress his chuckle, but his trembling shoulders gave him away.
“Corbin.”
The moment he heard Maurice calling his name, he became serious. “Mr. Moran.”
Maurice cast a cold and sharp glance at him. “Send him back. If you can’t find Silas in an hour, then don’t come back.”
“I understand, Mr. Moran!”
Corbin’s heart skipped a beat, but he quickly grabbed Adrian’s hand and was about to walk out.
Silas was the son of Maurice’s younger sister. The couple had died in an accident, so Maurice was raising Silas.
Perhaps, Silas had suffered a lot before, and that was the reason he was very disobedient, and had a bad temper. He often skipped school. The bodyguards would spend a lot of time trying to catch him every month.
Maurice was worried about him, and Corbin was doing everything he could to find him.
Meanwhile, Aileen took out a lollipop from her pocket and handed it to Silas.
But Silas shook his head. “I don’t eat candies.”
“It’s delicious.” Aileen carefully peeled the candy wrapper and handed the lollipop to him again. “You should try it.”
Silas hesitated for a moment before he took the lollipop, and sucked on it. The sweet taste of the lollipop made him happy.
“It’s yummy.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“Then why did you say that you don’t eat candies?”
“My uncle says that candies are a girl’s thing.”
“He lied. My mom said that it’s only natural for kids to like candy. If you don’t believe me, you can ask your mom.”
Silas hung his head sadly. “I don’t have a mom.”
Aileen frowned and asked, “Where is she?”
Silas lowered his eyes and remained silent.
Aileen stretched out her hand and patted him on the shoulder. “How about you go home with me? I would love to have you as my another brother.”
Silas’s eyes were shining as he raised his head and smiled.
The bathroom door was suddenly pushed open, and Kimora, who had been anxious until now, hugged Aileen and burst into tears. “Aileen! Are you all right? Adrian is missing. What do we do?”
“You can’t find Adrian?”
Frightened, Aileen teared up and her lips began to quiver as though she was going to cry.
Chapter 13 Could He Be The Male Prostitute
“Don’t cry.” Silas felt very uncomfortable when he looked at Aileen’s pitiful face. Wiping away her tears, he asked, “Was Adrian taken away by those men in suits?”
Kimora was also on the verge of tears, but she nodded in reply.
“They are not bad guys. Those men work for my uncle…” Embarrassed, Silas turned to Aileen, blushing. “They only came to take me to school.”
“What?” Aileen and Kimora exclaimed in disbelief.
“I’m going to kindergarten now. Once my uncle finds out that they caught the wrong person, he will definitely send Adrian back.”
At the same time, Eliana rushed to the kindergarten, panicking. When she couldn’t find Kimora there, she took out her phone and called her, trembling.
However, the busy tone kept ringing, and the more she thought about it, the more flustered she became.
Kimora initially told her that Adrian was chased by some men and was taken away, but later she said that it was just a misunderstanding. So, Eliana could not help but wonder, ‘What the hell is going on?’
All of a sudden, she felt someone grab her dress. “Mommy.”
Eliana lowered her head and saw Adrian standing beside her, safe and sound.
“Adrian!” With tears in her eyes, he held her son and began to check if he was hurt. “How are you? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. Mommy. Don’t cry, you’ll get wrinkles.” Adrian touched the corner of her eyes, wiping away her tears.
Eliana did not know whether to cry or laugh.
He then stroked her hair softly and comforted her, “Don’t worry, Mommy. I am okay. But… I’m late for school.”
“Let me take you in.” Eliana lifted him up and carried him in her arms as she walked into the kindergarten.
A Maybach drove past them as soon as she turned around.
Corbin glanced out of the car window and said, “Mr. Moran, she seems to be the boy’s mother.”
Maurice turn to his side and saw a slim women disappear into the kindergarten.
That day, everyone in Eliana’s family was worried.
Later in the evening, Eliana and Kimora prepared a sumptuous dinner to comfort themselves.
After they had dinner, Eliana read the kids a story.
“A long time ago…”
But she began to yawn as soon as she read the first few words. She had been so tensed all day long that the moment she sat down on the bed, her exhaustion took over her body.
Adrian and Aileen looked at each other.
Eliana had put herself to sleep once again.
With a slight sigh, Adrian tucked his mother and sister in bed before he also fell asleep.
The next morning, Eliana worked for a while before she went to the water cooler to talk to her colleagues about acquisition of the Pierce group.
Although there are more than 2000 employees in the company, only a few knew about it.
“I’ve never heard of the Pierce Group.” One of the employees, who had just joined the company, was confused.
Hearing that, an older employee frowned and said, “The Pierce Group went bankrupt and was acquired by Mr. Moran five years ago. Why are you suddenly asking about it?”
Eliana relaxed her eyebrows a little and replied calmly, “I read about it on the Internet, and I was a little curious.”
“Shouldn’t you all be working?” A sharp female voice came. Gabrielle walked to them, narrowing her eyes at Eliana.
Even though Eliana was new in the company, she was already on bad terms with Gabrielle.
Everyone tried to escape with an awkward smile, but Gabrielle turned around, and blocked their way. “It’s been really busy in the Design Department for some time now. I’ll buy you coffee.”
“Thank you, Miss Aston!” everyone said in unison.
However, when Eliana saw her evil gaze, she knew that she was plotting something again.
Just as she expected, Gabrielle handed her a card, smiled at her, and said, “Eliana, I don’t think you will refuse to do something as trivial as buying coffee for me, will you?”
Looking at the expectant eyes of her colleagues, she knew that she could not say no.
So she smiled sweetly and took the card.
After glaring at her for a second, Gabrielle left.
By the time Eliana returned to the Moran Group with two packs of freshly brewed coffee, an hour had passed.
She walked into the elevator, put the heavy cups of coffee on the floor, and took a deep breath.
It was really difficult to earn money.
She found it ridiculous when she recalled that Preston had offered to pool money to compensate her.
She had obviously not believed him then.
Although it had been a few days since he had said that, he still had not contacted her. So she figured that he must not have been able to pool the money.
She decided to laugh at him if she saw him again.
A few other employees walked into the elevator, so Eliana moved to a corner with her head down as she sent a text to Preston.
“How much have you gotten?”
She instantly heard a notification tone.
She looked around and found that Corbin was also in the elevator. There was another intimidating man standing in front of him. He had a powerful cold aura, which made it obvious that he must be Maurice,
the CEO of the Moran Group.
He was tall and strong, making people afraid to go near him.
Eliana withdrew her sight and sent two emojis to Preston, urging him to reply.
The same moment, she heard another notification sound coming from the elevator.
What was going on?
Was Preston also in the elevator?
Eliana sent another message, and a few seconds later, she turned to the direction from which the notification tone was heard.
She was stunned to see that it was from Maurice’s phone.
Eliana opened her eyes wide in disbelief. Could he be the male prostitute?
Chapter 14 A Minor Incident Feeling
Eliana’s gaze on his back, Maurice turned around.
"What?" he asked.
Startled by his sharp, cold gaze, Eliana took a step backward and almost kicked over the coffee.
"Nothing.I was just wondering which floor we were on," she stammered, staring at the button to avoid his eyes.
Remembering that she was asked to clean his office the last time, she answered his question more cautiously.
However… She suddenly felt that his voice was strangely familiar.
Why did his voice sound exactly like Preston’s? When she had been to the CEO’s office the last time, she had felt the same way.
But since it had been so chaotic that day, she had no time to dwell on that thought.
Although Maurice and Preston seemed to look different, it was clear that they had the same voice.
Eliana peeked at his phone and was about to send another message to Preston to test if Maurice was Preston.
She quickly typed her message, but just when she was about to send it, the elevator stopped.
"We’ve reached the Design Department," Corbin kindly reminded her.
Eliana looked up and found that the elevator had indeed stopped at her floor, so she thanked Corbin, picked up the coffee, and walked past Maurice in a hurry.
She still had not sent the message to him yet.
As the elevator continued to ascend to the top floor, more people got off, leaving Corbin and Maurice alone… Maurice smiled for just a moment, thinking of Eliana, before he became his usual cold self.
"Is she really that free?"
How did she have the time to go out and buy coffee?
"Well, according to the tradition of the Design Department, it is customary for the newcomer to do such chores and errands for the seniors,"
Corbin explained Maurice’s expression darkened when he heard those words, but he didn’t say anything. He immediately pressed the button "12".
At the same time, Eliana gave the coffees to her colleagues, and the office immediately came alive.
Before long, the door to the director’s office flung open.
With a cup of coffee in her hand, Gabrielle pointed at Eliana, and said in a sarcastic tone, "I’ve already told you that I’m sensitive to gluten.Did you purposely buy me coffee that contains oat milk? What are you trying to pull, Eliana?"
Eliana took the coffee cup from her, checked the label, and found that it indeed contained oat milk.
Those who were sensitive to gluten could face serious issues if they consumed it.
But she could not remember Gabrielle mentioning that she was allergic to it at all.
Eliana frowned, thinking about it.
"Everyone, check whether Eliana has gotten you something that you’re not supposed to consume."
Gabrielle sneered in her heart, determined to put Eliana in her place.
"It is true that we were in a conflict before, but that doesn’t mean you can try to kill me for revenge!"
Gritting her teeth, Eliana was about to explain when she suddenly felt a pain in her elbow. Her pain caused her to accidentally pour her coffee over Gabrielle.
"Ah!" Gabrielle screamed.
Her tight white shirt was stained with the coffee and her hair was ruined. The coffee dripped down from the ends of her hair and fell to the floor. She felt as though Eliana had disgraced her in front of the Design Department.
"Eliana!"
When Gabrielle was about to curse her, she saw a man standing behind her and immediately swallowed her words.
"Mr.Moran! It is so nice to meet you, sir!"
She greeted Maurice politely.
Gabrielle quickly took a tissue to wipe her face.
"That b***h!’ she cursed Eliana in her heart.
After all, she was the reason she looked so undignified in front of Maurice now.
Everyone else in the office also held their breaths the moment they saw Maurice.
A few seconds later, they began to talk among themselves in low murmurs.
"Why has Mr.Moran come to the Design Department?"
"He is so handsome…"
"Shh! Keep your voice down!"
Hearing their whispers, Eliana turned around stiffly.
Was it Maurice who caused her to spill the coffee? Oh my god!’ She could not help but sigh, wondering why he had set her up and put her in such an awkward position. She could almost imagine Gabrielle torturing her in the future.
But the moment she saw Maurice, she pretended to be obedient.
After all, she could not afford to offend the CEO of the company. She would rather confront Gabrielle than Maurice.
Gabrielle forced an obsequious smile and asked, "Mr.Moran, what brings you here?"
"Stay away from me.You are dirty." Maurice stepped back in disgust.
Gabrielle’s expression froze. Her mind went blank. She could not believe that Maurice had just humiliated her in front of everyone.
"The Moran Group doesn’t recruit incompetent people and we don’t ask employees to run errands like buying coffee."
Maurice’s eyes were so cold that everyone felt a sudden drop in temperature inside the office.
"If you ask her to buy coffee again, then you will get fired."
The Design Department fell silent and no one said a word until he walked out of the office area.
But Corbin looked at his phone and said, "Gabrielle, Mr.Moran wants you to buy coffee for all the colleagues of the Design Department for the next three months."
Gabrielle couldn’t believe her ears.
"But I’m the director!"
"This is the second time you have questioned Mr.Moran’s decision." said Corbin coldly.
Gritting her teeth with a hateful glare, she did not dare to complain anymore.
Ignoring her, Corbin walked out of the office.
Looking at the stunned Gabrielle whose makeup was smudged, Eliana could not help but smile. It was karmic retribution that Gabrielle deserved! Relieved, Eliana walked back to her desk briskly.
As soon as Corbin walked out of the office, he saw Maurice smiling.
Ever since Eliana had joined the company, Maurice smiled more often.
Seeing that, Corbin could not help but wonder if he was doing okay.
Chapter 15 Not Fit To Be My Uncle
Although Eliana was happy, she still wasted a lot of time running errands.
By the time she was done with her work, most of her colleagues had already gone home.
When she finally got home, Kimora had already prepared dinner, and the twins clung to her, asking her for a hug.
Eliana coaxed her kids to sit at the dining table.
"What did you do at school today?" she asked while ladling soup into their bowls.
Aileen tilted her head and rolled her shiny black eyes.
"The teacher said that the kindergarten would hold an activity where we can share what we like the most."
"And it involved toys," Adrian explained, taking the soup bowl from his mother and handing it to his sister.
"Okay. What do you want to take with you?’Eliana put the other bowl of soup in front of Adrian and caressed his face.
Although they were twins, their temperaments were completely different.
Aileen was innocent and bubbly while Adrian was cold and taciturn.
Eliana could not help but wonder who he was like. She would sometimes worry that if he did not have fun as a kid, then he might never get a chance to live a carefree life once he was an adult.
"Look over there." Adrian raised his hand and pointed at a shelf that had a model plane on it.
"I assembled it myself."
"Wow, Adrian, you are so awesome!" Aileen grabbed Eliana’s hand and said expectantly.
"Mommy, I want to take that beautiful ring!"
‘The ring?’
Upon hearing that, Eliana was started for no reason at all until she realized that her daughter was probably talking about the candy ring that she had seen some time ago.She put her hand against her forehead and chuckled. She was so nervous that the moment Aileen mentioned the ring, she immediately thought of Preston.
Touching her daughter’s soft hair, she praised, "Looks like you have a great eye for jewelry.Maybe you can become a jewelry designer in the future."
With a bright smile, Aileen turned around and raised her chin.
Looking at her brother, who was busy eating, she said proudly, "Mommy praised me more than you!"
Hearing that, Adrian was speechless. He would not argue with a kid over such a trivial thing. After dinner, Kimora pulled Eliana aside and said, "Miss Pierce, the kindergarten has started to charge for the summer camp. You still haven’t gotten your salary yet, have you?"
Eliana patted her hand and responded calmly, "Don’t worry.I will give you the money as soon as possible."
Kimora was about to say something, but as she saw Eliana’s determined look, she decided not to.She then walked into the kitchen.
Although Eliana did not seem to be flustered on the surface, she was indeed a little uncertain at heart.
Frowning, she took out her phone and opened her chat box with Preston.
At the same time, inside the riverside villa, a notification tone was heard from the phone on the table.
Maurice pretended like he did not hear it and continued to look at Silas.
"You rarely go to the school so obediently.Have you made friends at the kindergarten?"
There was an unusual hint of gentleness in his voice.
Silas did not say a word.He just lowered his head and continued to play with his smartwatch while subconsciously thinking of the twins he had met before, who looked extraordinarily alike.
Pursing his lips, he smiled softly.
"Silas." Maurice patiently looked at him, waiting for his answer.
Silas pulled a long face and glared at him.
"It’s none of your business."
"I’m your uncle."
"You are not fit to be my uncle! You caused my parents to die.I hate you!"
Silas then jumped off the sofa and ran out of the room coldly. Although it was just a few simple words, it hurt Maurice a lot.
He subconsciously wanted to catch up with him, but he stopped on second thought.
As he looked at his nephew’s disappearing figure, a strong sense of deathly stillness filled his heart, making it difficult for him to breathe. He sat down dejectedly, burying his face in his palms
