Chapter 371
“Don’t talk nonsense! Give me the anesthetic.”
Maurice couldn’t wait any longer. He was afraid that Eliana’s life would be in danger. He immediately asked the staff to prepare the anesthetic and got on the horse.
“Mr. Moran, you can’t go. It’s too dangerous.”
Harriet suddenly stood in front of the horse and stopped Maurice. It was her wish that Eliana died here today. How could she let him risk his life to save Eliana?

No matter how resentful Harriet’s words were, Eliana couldn’t hear them now. She was busy trying to save herself.
The staff was right. This mare was really hard to tame. Although she was a champion in horseback riding before, she couldn’t get the mare to calm down.

Thinking of this, she panicked.
“Eliana, are you okay?”
Eliana suddenly heard an anxious voice behind her. She looked back with difficulty and found Maurice riding a horse and chasing after her with an anesthetic rifle.

The warm and reassuring embrace felt familiar. Without a doubt, she knew that it was Maurice holding her dearly.
Eliana was pleased with his act of affection. It was exactly what she needed to calm down. She just had a narrow escape from death, which deeply unsettled her. However, there was no fear in her heart. Instead, she briefly recalled her happy and unrestrained life in the past.
Harriet followed the crowd and saw a heartbreaking scene. The man of her dreams was tightly hugging her nemesis.
They seemed to be one, as if nothing could separate them. Their special bond became even more unbreakable.
Harriet’s face suddenly darkened. Her blood was boiling with anger and resentment. She had to put an end to this immediately.
“My goodness, Eliana. I was scared to death! Are you alright?”
Harriet rushed over, grabbed Eliana’s arm, and pulled her away from Maurice. Inspecting the poor girl for injuries, Harriet sighed deeply and pretended to be worried.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
Frowning, Eliana withdrew her arm and rubbed it furtively.
Harriet had used excessive force when she grabbed her. If she gripped Eliana’s arm a little longer, it would surely be bruised.
“Mr. Moran! Is everyone alright?”
When the matter was over, Kelvin suddenly reappeared and rushed to their side.

“That’s right. What’s important is that you’re safe now. Please forgive my uncle, Eliana,” Harriet pleaded sincerely.
Eliana’s lips curled into a sneer, and she didn’t say anything.
Maurice glanced coldly at Harriet and Kelvin. He took Eliana’s hand and said gently, “Let’s get out of here.”
Eliana felt some reassuring warmth in her palm. She looked at Maurice with a sense of security in her heart. It seemed no matter what happened, this man would always be by her side.
Eliana’s crisis was temporarily over, while Nana’s nerve-racking meeting was just about to begin.
At the moment, she was taking the two kids along to meet Huey and Rosamond.
They planned to talk over a meal at the charming Lakeside Restaurant in the Moon Lake Manor.
As soon as the twins entered the restaurant, they hurried towards a window seat and sat down.
The Lakeside Restaurant was just opposite the racetrack. Through the huge transparent window, the ongoing spectacle in the racetrack could be seen.
Nana kept fidgeting in her seat while the two kids were drawn to the loud cheers from the racetrack.
“Nana, what’s going on there? It sounds so noisy.”
Aileen tiptoed and squashed her nose against the window, trying to see past the tall trees that were blocking the view of the racetrack.
Nana came back to her senses and glanced outside.
She replied casually, “There must be a horse race or a show of some sort. I’ll take you both there once I’m free.”
The two kids were still peering outside the window, eager to see what was going on. However, Nana was busy thinking about how to deal with Huey and his mother.
“Hey, stop looking over there.” Nana pulled the twins over and said seriously, “Remember, we all have a role to play. Let’s have a rehearsal now.”
Adrian rolled his eyes and replied, “Nana, we already practiced for several hours last night. We’ve perfected our part. Is it necessary to do it again?”
“That’s right. I’m also ready,” Aileen chimed in.
Despite hearing their reassuring words, Nana couldn’t help but worry. She held their little hands and pleaded, “I promise this will be the last rehearsal, okay?”
Aileen and Aileen looked at each other and shrugged. They would do anything to make Nana calm down. “Okay.”

He felt embarrassed and asked, “Nana, why did you have to lie?”
What an innocent little boy he was.
Nana sighed and explained, “Adrian, you know, there are two kinds of lies in this world. There are lies that are bad, but there are also lies called white lies. Although I’m about to lie, it will help solve a huge problem as well as protect someone else from getting hurt. That is what we call a white lie. Do you understand?”
Adrian nodded, although he hadn’t fully grasped the concept yet.
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand it now. You will understand when you grow up,” Nana said as she patted his head gently.
“Mommy, Mommy, can I order fried chicken later?”
The atmosphere changed as Aileen called out in a sweet voice.
Nana smiled in amusement. This girl was so cute! How she wished she could have a child like Aileen.
“Of course,” Nana said as she touched Aileen’s nose dotingly. “We will have some later.”
Just then, Rosamond entered the restaurant.
Nana immediately raised a hand and waved at her.
“Miss Deleon, over here!”
Rosamond was wearing a professional suit as she usually did. The way she dressed and did her makeup was always meticulous. She was indeed a strong woman.
“Coming!”
She walked towards Nana. However, when she saw the children, her face changed.
“Darlings, this is Miss Deleon.”
Nana intentionally called Rosamond’s attention to the children.
Aileen and Adrian greeted Rosamond at the same time. “Nice to meet you, Miss Deleon!”
Rosamond sat down opposite Nana with a dissatisfied expression. “I wanted to talk to you. Only you. Why did you bring the kids?”
Looking at Rosamond’s unhappy expression, Nana was pleased inwardly.
This was exactly what she wanted!
“Eliana went on a business trip today, and I couldn’t find a babysitter to look after the kids. I am their mother. Of course I had to bring them with me,” Nana continued.
After Nana finished speaking, Rosamond looked even more disgruntled.

“Mommy,” Aileen said in a confused tone. “Miss Deleon looks so young and beautiful. Can I call her by her first name?”
Nana was stunned by the question and Adrian was rendered speechless. Even Rosamond was shocked.
However, Aileen simply stared at Nana with an innocent expression.

Nana explained in a measured tone, “Aileen, Miss Deleon is Mommy’s elder, so of course you should call her Miss Deleon.”
“But Miss Deleon is so beautiful! She looks like a young lady!” Aileen continued.
She looked at Adrian for approval and asked, “Right, Adrian?”
Adrian looked at Rosamond carefully and nodded in agreement. “I agree. Can we call her by her first name instead?”
“See, Mommy? Adrian agrees with me!”
Aileen then turned to Rosamond happily and said in a cute voice, “Hello, Rosamond!”
No one could resist humoring such a sweet child.
Rosamond didn’t particularly like children, but when she heard Aileen’s words, she couldn’t help but chuckle.
All of a sudden, she appeared much kinder.
Nana was stunned.
What was going on? What was happening to her plan?
She had expected the children to offend Rosamond, who would then lash out at them with harsh words. Then she could have rushed to play the role of a loving mother by scolding Rosamond.
Afterwards, the women would have parted in anger and would have never seen each other again.
As Nana sat in shock, Rosamond realized something was wrong from the look on her face.
“Nana, you aren’t their mother, are you?”

How do you explain your pregnancy? You were not a mother when we met you.”

Under the overbearing scrutiny of Rosamond, Nana was unable to come up with an answer.

Upon entering the restaurant, he paused slightly to look for Nana. When he saw her, his eyes lit up with hope.

Huey became furious when he noticed that Nana was so concerned about the kids.

Rosamond kept quiet the whole time as though it had nothing to do with her.
Just by watching their quarrel with each other, she seemed to have pieced it together.
She figured that her son must have cheated on Nana, and that was the reason she ran away before their wedding. However, Huey didn’t want to break up with her at all. Left with no choice, Nana was even willing to ruin her own reputation just to be rid of him.
After finding out the truth, even Rosamond was disappointed with her son for showing no signs of repentance and blaming Nana.
How could she have a son like him?
She cursed her son for being such a brainless oaf!
Feeling Nana’s hard slap, Huey also raised his hand and was about to return her slap.
However, Adrian and Aileen let out a loud scream the moment they saw that.
“Stop! You can’t hurt our mommy!”
They immediately jumped off their chairs and stood in front of Nana to protect her.
Seeing that, Nana was so moved that she was pushed to the brink of tears.

As soon as he gave the order, several security guards surrounded Nana and the kids.
The Moon Lake Manor was owned by the Moran family and the Deleon family that was Huey’s mother’s family, so it was technically Huey’s turf.
While trying to protect the kids using herself as a shield, Nana roared, “Huey Layton, if you have a problem with me, deal with me! Leave the kids alone!”
Only when Rosamond saw that the guards were about to catch them did she stand up.
“Someone will be caught here today…” Rosamond pointed at Huey and ordered, “Catch him and throw him out!”
Flustered, the guards looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
What was happening? Why was Rosamond asking them to drive her own son out?
Huey’s eyes widened in disbelief as he asked heavily, “How could you do that, Mom? Are you really my mother?”
“Shut up! I am ashamed to even call myself your mother after what you did! How could you try to bully women and kids? You are dead to me!”
Rosamond was completely disappointed with her son.
She was originally under the impression that it was because of Nana that the engagement was broken off, but it turned out that it was all her son’s fault.
She felt powerless, tired, and heartbroken because of her son’s actions.
“I really regret leaving you in your dad’s care after I divorced him. He’s done a great job raising you to be the filthiest scum in the world! It’s all my fault…”
“Mom!” Huey looked at his mother, horrified by the weight of her words.
However, Rosamond ignored him and turned to look at Nana. She no longer blamed Nana. In fact, she pitied her.
“Since things have come down to this, the engagement is officially called off.”
As a woman, she could clearly understand how Nana felt right now.
Although it was a bit dramatic of Nana to put on a play to end her relationship with Huey, there was no chance they could get back together now. So it was undeniably better for them to part ways.
