Ch. 2101..2110
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2101-The news of Asher and Arnold's proposal in Botvia quickly spread. Within a day, the entire family knew.
Although everyone had already accepted that Arnold would be joining the Thompson family, the fact that two men were getting married still shocked them.
The next evening, Asher and Arnold, hand in hand, came to see their father and Aunt Mila. Bella and the other Thompson family members hurried over, fearing that the couple might face harsh questioning.
"Why did you two keep something this big from me and your Aunt Mila?"
As expected, Wyatt's expression was stern, and his voice carried a hint of displeasure.
Arnold, standing beside his man, suddenly seemed to shrink. He did not dare to take a deep breath, tightly gripping Asher's hand, resembling a bashful new bride.
"Dad, Aunt Mila, it was all my idea." Asher stood tall, fingers interlocked with his lover's, his words protective. "I arranged everything without Arnold knowing. Even up until the moment I proposed, he was unaware of what I was doing. If there is anyone to blame, blame me. Don't blame him. But there is one thing that cannot be changed."
He turned to gaze deeply at Arnold's flushed, handsome face, each word heavy with meaning. "Arnold and I are already married. He is the love of my life."
"Congratulations, Ash! Congratulations!" Bella immediately took on the role of the mood-maker, clapping enthusiastically, hoping to prevent Wyatt from voicing any further objections. As she clapped, she nudged Justin beside her, urging him with her eyes. Justin quickly joined in the applause, following her lead.
Wyatt rubbed his brow in frustration, his expression revealing a deep sadness. "Ash, do you not trust me? Do you not believe that I have fully accepted Arnold?"
The room fell silent as the couple froze in place.
"You hid this from all of us, kept it a secret, and even caused such a commotion yesterday, yet you did not dare bring Arnold home. Do you still think your father disapproves of your relationship?" Wyatt's voice grew more emotional, his eyes slightly reddening.
Asher was momentarily lost for words. "Dad, that's not what I meant…"
"This is a lifelong commitment, not just for you but for Arnold as well!" Wyatt slapped the armrest of the sofa, his face reddening with emotion. "You handled it so carelessly? You didn't even give him a proper wedding, and you just got married? Do boys not deserve dignity? I used to think that among my sons, you, Ash, were the most thoughtful and considerate. But now I see you are not even as good as your second brother!"
Axel held his head. "I can't believe this! Even when he's scolding Ash, Dad can't resist taking a jab at me!" Asher and Arnold were stunned into silence. The others were equally speechless.
Mila smiled helplessly and spoke in a warm, earnest tone. "Ash, you misunderstood your father. He knew you proposed to Arnold and got married, and he is genuinely happy for both of you."
Asher's heart tightened as he looked at his father with guilt in his eyes.
"Wyatt was worried that Arnold might feel neglected. He hoped that with everyone finally together, the family could help you more. Who would have thought you, such a stubborn child, would keep your own father completely in the dark and go ahead on your own? I think your father has every right to be upset.
Even I'm a little mad. You whisked away my dear nephew without even a word!" Mila pretended to scold him, but she was actually quite pleased.
"Dad, Aunt Mila…" Arnold's voice choked up as he lowered his head, feeling embarrassed.
Bella watched as she leaned on Justin's shoulder, nearly moved to tears.
In fact, Asher had always been the type to quietly accomplish great things.
His reserved nature and diligent work ethic were his defining traits. Because of this, when Bella chose not to pursue a career as a strong, independent woman, it was Asher who supported KS Group's prosperity. After all, he was the most suitable heir and a natural leader, even though it was not his heart's desire. The one thing that truly satisfied him in life was marrying Arnold.
Wyatt waved his hand with a sigh. "Sigh, since Arnold has already called me 'Dad', I'll let you off this time. But this act first, report later nonsense had better not happen again!"
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2102-"Sorry, Dad," Asher said with a furrowed brow and a wry smile.
"Ash, Arnold, when are you holding the wedding?" Axel asked, prompting everyone to chime in excitedly. The atmosphere became lively again.
"I don't need a wedding. The proposal Ash gave me was already perfect." Arnold's narrow eyes sparkled like stars as he gazed lovingly at his partner. "I feel happy, and that's enough."
The union of Asher and Arnold was truly a match made in heaven.
Joyful times passed quickly.
Except for the newlyweds, who stayed at the estate to enjoy a long and sweet honeymoon, everyone else gradually returned to Savrow and Hatchbay.
Princess Annabeth also sensibly returned to Sentania with Camilla after bidding farewell to everyone. She did not look at Declan even once from the time she left the estate.
The news from that night had been earth-shattering for her, like a bolt of lightning.
The mere thought that Declan's mother's misfortune might be connected to her family left her too terrified to face the man she loved. She left with her head hanging low, like a wilted flower.
Bella silently observed this, then glanced at her sorrowful third brother, feeling a deep discomfort in her heart.
Love could make people foolish, intoxicated, and painfully heartbroken.
Though she had only spent a few days with Annabeth, Bella had already accepted her as a beloved little sister. She even thought about visiting Sentania once the troubles in Savrow were settled.
Perhaps with the help of Camilla and her brother-in-law, she could see Annabeth again.
More importantly, she wanted to step into her mother's homeland and search for any clues about her mother.
After returning to Savrow, Bella and Justin rested for two days before diving back into their busy work, ready for action at any moment.
Even while they were in Botvia, they had kept a close watch on the situation back home, not letting down their guard for a second.
Today, Bella led the company's executives in a day-long meeting. In the evening, as she reviewed documents in her office, Steven knocked on the door and entered.
"How's the situation?" Bella asked immediately.
"Ms. Bella, you truly have foresight. Ever since Mr. Salvador privately met with Deputy Chief Hopkins, his entire lifestyle has undergone a dramatic change!" Steven's eyes shone with excitement as he spoke rapidly.
Bella sighed lightly, raising her beautiful eyes to look at him as if he were a fool.
"Who asked you about that? I was asking about Amelia and the baby. How are they?"
Steven froze, his face turning red as he stammered, "Ah… Y-Yesterday, I accompanied Amelia to the hospital for a check-up. The fetus is now two months old and very healthy."
"You really are clueless. Amelia has been pregnant for two months, and you only just found out." Bella could not help but roll her eyes at him. "If I had not noticed Amelia secretly having morning sickness and figured out she was pregnant, you would probably have thought she was just gaining weight as her belly grew bigger every day!"
"It's all my fault. I deserve to be punished," Steven said, feeling guilty enough to want to slap himself. Never mind, when he got home, he would let his wife do it.
"Even though she's two months along, you still need to be extra careful. Don't let Amelia fall or get hurt, and be especially mindful of her diet. Understand?" Bella warned him earnestly.
"Absolutely, absolutely! Please don't worry, Ms. Bella. Amelia and the baby are my everything!" Steven vowed, barely able to contain his joy.
Bella's long lashes trembled slightly as she lowered her gaze, lost in thought.
Two months…
Back then, the child she had lost had also been in her womb for two months before leaving her forever.
As this thought crossed her mind, she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.
Pulling herself together, Bella refocused her gaze and said steadily, "You mentioned Deputy Chief Hopkins earlier. Continue."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2103-Steven temporarily set aside thoughts of his beloved wife and refocused on work.
"Ever since we left for Botvia, Deputy Chief Hopkins hasn't returned home at all. He's been staying at his workplace, having his subordinates run errands for him. He's practically cut himself off from the world." Bella's almond-shaped eyes grew increasingly somber. "He hasn't visited his wife either?"
"Not once," Steven replied, furrowing his brow in disbelief. "The more I think about it, the stranger it seems."
Bella skillfully twirled a pen in her slender fingers, her gaze unreadable. "It isn't strange. Deputy Chief Hopkins is highly perceptive. He must have realized that he's in a dangerous position. Any reckless move could cost him his life."
Steven was taken aback. "Ms. Bella, you mean…"
"Christopher has probably already made plans to take him out," Bella said, gripping the pen tightly, her knuckles turning white. "It's also possible that he's already made an attempt, and Deputy Chief Hopkins narrowly escaped death. That's why he's now taking such extreme precautions and staying locked inside. There's also no place safer than the police department."
Bella continued, "No matter how ruthless Christopher is, he wouldn't dare send someone there to finish the job-that would be walking right into a trap."
Steven's heart raced as he quickly responded, "Ms. Bella, Deputy Chief Hopkins must stay alive! He's our only lead to bring down Christopher! If Christopher intends to silence him, then this is a critical moment."
"As long as Deputy Chief Hopkins hides, Christopher can't touch him, but we can't get to him either," Bella said, interlocking her fingers and resting them under her pointed chin, her gaze deep. "That's why we need to get Deputy Chief Hopkins to step out of the police department."
Steven scratched his head in confusion. "But Ms. Bella, wouldn't that just give Christopher the opportunity he's waiting for?"
"We're on the same playing field," Bella replied, her gaze warming, a faint smile spreading across her lips. "If he has a chance, so do I. I trust Justin-no matter how slim the opportunity, he'll seize it."
Just as she finished speaking, Justin's call came through.
"Justin, how's it going? Have you arrived in Dawnford?" Bella's voice was soft and light, like a cheerful bird.
"I'm here now, heading to the meeting site," Justin replied, his tone urgent. "Uncle Matt just called me. He said that ever since Grandpa returned from Botvia, he hasn't been feeling well. He hasn't eaten anything all day. Could you take him to the hospital?"
"Justin, what kind of tone is that?" Bella exclaimed, her eyes widening in mock anger. "Is he not my grandpa too? Taking care of him is my duty. Why are you being so formal?"
"Bella, you've been working hard for days, and you still have to oversee things at KS Group. I'm just worried you're stretching yourself thin," Justin said with a helpless smile, having no argument against his wife's reprimand.
"I'm not tired. As long as it's for family, I have endless energy!" Bella sighed softly, her tone turning gentle. "All right, I'll take Grandpa Nigel to the hospital right away. You focus on work. I'll handle things at home."
Steven quickly prepared the car, and they rushed to Savrow. After picking up Nigel and Matt from Crescent Bay, the four of them headed to the hospital.
In the VIP treatment unit, Nigel lay pale against the headboard, an IV drip in his arm. Bella sat by the bed, gently helping him drink some water.
"Bella… I'm sorry to trouble you to come all the way back from Hatchbay just to take me to the hospital," Nigel said, his eyes moist with emotion.
"Grandpa Nigel, this isn't any trouble at all. I was planning to visit you anyway," Bella reassured him, her eyes glowing with a clear, soft light. "I spoke with the doctor. You just haven't been resting well these past few days, and you haven't adjusted to the time difference. You aren't eating properly, so your stomach's a bit upset. It's nothing serious. Don't worry."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2104-"Ah, I'm getting old and losing my touch." Nigel muttered, pouting like a disappointed child. "I attended my precious granddaughter's wedding, and now I'm stuck in bed. How embarrassing."
"Not at all, Grandpa Nigel. You're still strong, and you'll live a long and healthy life." Bella gently squeezed his rough, weathered hand, feeling a pang of guilt in her chest. She knew that he was too old to handle the strain anymore. If it had not been for Carrie's wedding, she would never have let Nigel make such a tiring journey.
"Bella, this past year, I've felt my body weakening more and more. Sometimes at night, when I go to sleep, I wonder if I'll wake up in the morning." Nigel's voice was thick with emotion as he spoke. "In my remaining years, I have only one wish, which is to attend your wedding with Justin."
"Grandpa Nigel…" Bella's eyes welled up with tears.
"Back then, I decided you two should be together, but I didn't even arrange a proper wedding for you. You've endured so much. Now that your relationship has stabilized, I want to make up for it as much as I can, so you won't have any regrets."
"Grandpa Nigel, the wedding will happen." Bella smiled warmly, trying to comfort him. "But things are chaotic on my side too. I've just taken over as CEO of KS Group, and my father is still unwell. Once things settle down, we'll start planning the wedding."
"Has that good-for-nothing Justin still not proposed to you?!" Nigel exclaimed, pounding the bed in frustration. "What's that idiot thinking every day? He doesn't take care of anything important! Just wait until he gets back-I'll skin him!"
"Grandpa Nigel, Justin has already proposed," Bella lied, not wanting to upset Nigel any further.
"Really? When?!" Nigel's dim eyes suddenly sparkled.
"When we were in Botvia," Bella replied quickly.
"There wasn't any fuss about it…" Nigel grumbled.
"Haha, what's the need for a big fuss? We didn't want to steal the spotlight from Ryan and Carrie," Bella said with a bright laugh.
"Ah, but your older brother certainly made a fuss-his proposal was more creative than my granddaughter-in-law's," Nigel murmured, smacking his lips meaningfully.
Bella nearly cringed out of embarrassment.
After Nigel fell asleep, Bella quietly left the room, letting Matt take over. Her stomach growled with hunger, so she decided to grab a bite at the hospital cafeteria. But before she could leave, Steven approached with a serious expression.
"Ms. Bella, guess who I just saw?"
"Who? Surely not Christopher; our luck can't be that bad, right?" Bella replied casually, taking a long gulp of mineral water.
Steven's face darkened. "It really was."
"Pfft!" Bella choked, spitting out her water and turning bright red from coughing.
Steven wanted to help by patting her back, but he restrained himself, following his moral code. Instead, he handed her a tissue.
"But I didn't see Christopher himself. I ran into his secretary heading toward the VIP ward."
"Taylor?" Bella asked, wiping her lips, her eyes narrowing.
"Yeah, that slimy bastard."
Steven gritted his teeth. "He's always attached to Christopher like a parasite. If he's here, Christopher must be too. I took a peek. Whatever's going on, they're guarding that area tight as a drum. Maybe Christopher's got some disease he doesn't want anyone to know about. The Iverson family's bodyguards have locked down the southern wing so tight that not even a fly could get in."
Bella's eyes glinted with a cold, sharp light. She shoved the water bottle into Steven's hands.
"Is that so? Well, it seems I must pay my 'old friend' a visit," Bella said, her tone laced with icy determination.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2105-Accompanied by Steven, Bella approached the inpatient wing on the southern side of the hospital.
As expected, the area was heavily guarded, almost impenetrable. Bella exchanged a glance with Steven, who understood immediately. He stepped forward, only to be coldly stopped by two of Christopher's bodyguards.
"You're not allowed in here!"
"I'm the secretary to the CEO of the KS Group," Steven replied icily, though he could barely contain his disgust. "Ms. Thompson heard that Mr. Iverson is ill and staying here, so she came to pay him a visit."
The two bodyguards exchanged uneasy looks. They certainly recognized Bella, but Christopher's orders were absolute, and disobeying them could mean death. So, they had no choice but to politely decline. "Sorry, Ms. Thompson, but we're just following orders…"
Suspicious but unfazed, Bella smiled lightly. "In that case, I won't disturb Mr. Iverson's recovery." "Ms. Thompson!"
Taylor came rushing over, immediately putting on a respectful, ingratiating smile upon seeing Bella. "Are you here to see Mr. Iverson? Please, come in, please!"
"I don't think so." Bella narrowed her cool almond-shaped eyes. "It seems Mr. Iverson wants some peace and quiet to recover and doesn't want to see anyone. I shouldn't impose."
"No, no! You're Ms. Thompson, the person Mr. Iverson values the most! No one else can compare." Taylor panicked, trying desperately to persuade her. "If Mr. Iverson sees you, it will lift his spirits and help him recover much faster!"
Seeing Bella still hesitating, Taylor, now frantic, swung his arm and slapped both bodyguards hard across their faces, scolding them fiercely.
"You idiots! Don't you know how close Mr. Iverson and Ms. Thompson are?! How dare you stop her? What's wrong with you?!"
Steven felt a wave of nausea at the display.
Just then, with a soft thud, a white medicine box fell out of Taylor's trouser pocket. Bella, quick to react, bent down and picked it up before he could. Her eyes darkened as she read the label-Diazepam.
Taylor's expression changed subtly, but he did not dare snatch the box from her.
"Taylor, what exactly is wrong with President Iverson that requires such tight security?" Bella asked coldly, handing the box back to him.
"Ah, it's just acute appendicitis." Taylor quickly put the box away, sighing dramatically. "Since taking over, Mr. Iverson has been overwhelmed with work, leading to various health issues. It's really heartbreaking to see."
Bella's gaze sharpened. "Acute appendicitis requires Diazepam?"
"Ah, this medicine isn't for President Iverson. It's for my mother." Taylor chuckled nervously, stepping aside to let her pass. "Please, Ms. Thompson, go ahead."
Bella's lips curved into a slight, knowing smile as she walked gracefully inside, her slender legs carrying her forward.
As Steven moved to follow, Taylor blocked him. "Mr. Iverson only wishes to see Ms. Thompson. No one else."
Steven gritted his teeth in frustration, his eyes full of concern as he watched Bella enter alone. "Steve, wait for me here. I'll be quick," Bella said calmly, her voice steady as she walked in.
When Bella entered the room, Christopher was sitting up in bed, dressed in a blue and white striped hospital gown, reviewing documents. The moment he saw the person he had been thinking about, his eyes curved into a warm smile, deep and genuine.
"Bella, you're here!" Christopher welcomed her.
Bella's face remained icy, keeping a deliberate distance. The mere thought of being near him made her feel sick, as if even sharing the same air was unbearable.
But she had no choice. She had to approach this dangerous man.
Only by getting close could she uncover the truth.
The soft, misty sunlight cast a gentle glow on Christopher's pale, refined features, making him look like a painting full of poetic grace and charm.
He had always been an exceptionally beautiful man.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2106-For those who did not know Christopher, it would be impossible to associate him with words as extreme as 'viper', 'beast' or 'demon'.
Bella slowly stepped to his bedside, her eyes cold and scrutinizing as she observed him.
"Bella, I'm sick…" Christopher's reddened eyes betrayed his vulnerability. He could not hold it in any longer and reached out to grab her hand.
Bella did not give him the chance. She immediately stepped out of reach and frowned at him.
"What a shame." She curled her lips into a mocking smile. "You are only sick, not dead."
After a pause, Christopher leaned back against the headboard, his gaze tender and lingering. "Bella, I won't die so easily. If I were to die, I would never be able to see you again."
Bella let out a cold laugh, her fist clenched tightly.
"I went through hell and back just to return from Sentania and see you. All these years, the only thing keeping me alive was you. So, for you, I must live a long life."
Bella stared at him with contempt. "If you truly cared about me, you would listen to me. Lay down your weapons and surrender immediately." Christopher's smile remained unshaken.
"From the beginning, it was never about me. It was always about you. The only reason you crawled out of the gutter and rose to your current position was because of your incessant greed that can never be satisfied." Bella's words sliced through the facade he wore.
Christopher tilted his head, considering her with interest. His gaze held a deep admiration for her.
"Christopher, to be honest, sometimes I truly do fear something bad might happen to you. If that were to ever happen, I would be robbed of the opportunity to catch you with my own hands. I wouldn't be able to see you face justice for all the things you've done. I wouldn't be able to avenge all those innocent lives you've destroyed!"
Before she could finish, Christopher's clammy hand grasped her wrist. She struggled to free herself, but he held firm for a supposedly ill man.
"Let go of me!"
During the scuffle, the sleeve of his hospital gown slipped, revealing a line of small, bruised needle marks on his arm. While Bella stared, distracted, he pressed the hilt of a fruit knife into her palm.
"Bella, no one can punish me, not even the law. Only you hold that power." Christopher smiled, his eyes burning with a crazed intensity. "I know killing me is what you've dreamed of. I'm giving you this chance now. Go ahead, stab me wherever you like. As long as it pleases you, as long as it makes you happy, I don't care what happens to me."
"You truly are insane!" She threw off his hand, tossed the knife aside, and left without looking back.
Christopher's eyes darkened, but the smile on his lips remained, a mad mix between obsession and affection.
"Mr. Iverson!" Taylor rushed into the room, his voice full of concern. "Are you and Ms. Thompson all right?"
"Why was Bella here?" Christopher's tone was cold. The tender warmth he had shown to Bella was gone, replaced by a chilled detachment.
"I just checked. Old Master Nigel's health took a turn, and Ms. Thompson came with him to the hospital. Don't worry, we've made sure the attending physician won't say a word. There's no way anyone will leak anything!" Taylor assured him.
"Good." Christopher relaxed, closing his eyes. He rubbed the tips of his fingers together, savoring the lingering sensation of her touch, reluctant to let go of the warmth she brought him.
"Mr. Iverson, there's one more thing." Taylor lowered his voice. "Deputy Chief Hopkins has been staying in his office, so we haven't had any opportunity to move against him. What do you suggest we do?"
"Find a way to lure him out." Christopher chuckled. "After all, who knows his weaknesses better than we do?"
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2108-Taylor opened the hospital room door with a sullen expression. A smiling, unfamiliar nurse stood outside, holding a tray.
"Hello, Mr. Iverson. It's time for your medication. Delaying it could affect your condition," she said.
"You're not the regular nurse on duty," Taylor remarked warily, scrutinizing her.
"I was just transferred here yesterday. My name is Cece. The previous nurse was in a car accident, and we're short-staffed." Cece explained. "Rest assured, I've signed a confidentiality agreement. I won't reveal anything I'm not supposed to."
"Come in," Taylor responded coldly, stepping aside to let her through.
The nurse entered and placed the tray on the bedside table. Just as she was about to touch Christopher, he spoke in a firm voice. "You're not needed here. My secretary can handle the injection. Leave."
The nurse hesitated at first, then obediently left the room.
The moment she was gone, Christopher could no longer hold himself together. He wrapped his trembling arms together while his facial muscles twitched uncontrollably. "Taylor… I can't take it anymore…!"
Taylor, unable to bear Christopher's suffering, reluctantly administered the medication despite knowing it was akin to drinking poison to quench thirst.
After a while, Christopher's trembling ceased, and his face began to regain some color. Taylor sighed, torn between helplessness and frustration. He found it increasingly difficult to discern whether the mysterious benefactor had truly elevated Mr. Iverson or utterly destroyed him.
"Taylor, take this medication to Dr. Cobb for testing. Also, investigate the background of that new nurse," Christopher ordered, his gaze lingered on the used syringe on the tray.
"Yes, Mr. Iverson, I'll handle it right away." He understood the unspoken command.
Before long, Taylor returned to the room, looking noticeably more relaxed. "Mr. Iverson, the medication has been verified, it's fine, and Cece's background is clean. The previous nurse did indeed get in a car accident and broke her leg,"
"Good, no problems then. You can leave now. I need to rest." Christopher closed his eyes, his mind replaying the visit from Bella earlier. He could still imagine her warmth, and her sweet scent still lingered in the air.
The drugs induced powerful feelings of anxiety and even hallucinations. It was the real reason he could not quit them. He felt as though he was being enveloped in the tender embrace of his beloved Bella. That she was right by his side, caring for him, smiling at him…
"Bella… I really love you. You've always lived in my heart, in my body, and you've never left me."
Even if all she felt for him was hatred, it still brought him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Late at night, after finishing her shift, the nurse exited the hospital through the back door and got into an ordinary black sedan. Ten minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of a dark alley.
The nurse hurriedly got out, looked around cautiously, and slipped into a waiting van parked in the alley. "Ms. Thompson!" Cece was thrilled to finally meet Bella, she felt like she was meeting a celebrity, "Wow… You're even more beautiful in person than on TV! You're like a goddess! Cameras don't do you justice!"
Steven, who was sitting in the driver's seat, could not help but chuckle, wholeheartedly agreeing with the sentiment.
"You flatter me, Cece." Bella smiled warmly as she handed over a prepared cup of hot coffee. "Take a break and have some coffee first."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2109-"Don't worry, Ms. Thompson! I'm not tired at all!" Cece vibrated with excitement. "I'm just so happy to meet you! I feel like I have endless energy!"
"I'm glad to see you're alright too," Bella said, taking a deep breath, her eyes filled with concern. "The person I had you approach is extremely dangerous and ruthless. A single mistake could cost you your life."
Cece shook her head gently, her gaze resolute. "I'm not afraid. If I were, I wouldn't have accepted your request when you came to me. My brother and I grew up depending on each other. Ever since he joined Pivotage and became Christopher's bodyguard, he was constantly berated and beaten. Eventually, Christopher beat him so badly that he was left permanently disabled. His right leg is completely ruined! Christopher is a beast in human clothing! He doesn't treat people like human beings; he sees them only as tools for venting his anger!"
Bella gazed at Cece's flushed face, twisted with hatred, and felt deep sympathy for her.
"Now that you've sought me out, I'm willing to do anything to help bring down that monster, even if it means sacrificing myself!" Cece's eyes welled up with tears.
"I don't want you to sacrifice yourself. I want you to take your revenge, then walk away safely and live on. What would your brother do if something happened to you?" Bella felt a sharp pang in her chest.
"Once, there was a girl who died protecting me. That pain is a wound in my heart that will never heal. This time, even though I asked you for help, I won't force you into anything. You can choose to leave at any time. I'll still reward you handsomely. Not only that, but I'll also help treat your brother's leg."
Steven immediately looked proud as he chimed in. "Ms. Bella is an exceptional surgeon, a miracle worker in her field! With her on your brother's case, I guarantee he'll recover!"
Cece's eyes lit up with renewed hope.
"Well, I wouldn't say guaranteed, but I'll do everything I can to help your brother's leg heal to its best possible state," Bella quickly added. "But please don't feel pressured because of this. Regardless of whether we succeed or not, I'll do my utmost to help your brother."
"Thank you, Ms. Thompson. But don't worry about me. Now that I'm involved, I'm committed to seeing this through," Cece replied, unwavering in her resolve.
Bella nodded gratefully. "Today, when you approached Christopher to deliver the medication, you weren't discovered, right?"
"Not yet, but that bastard is incredibly cautious!" Cece frowned deeply. "When he saw I was new, he didn't let me administer the injection. He kicked me out and then had his secretary secretly investigate my background and check if the medication was tampered with. That man is so paranoid!"
Bella let out a cold laugh. "That's to be expected. He wouldn't have survived this long if he wasn't this cautious,"
"But I think he ended up using the medicine I brought, and he didn't give me any further trouble. He probably hasn't discovered my identity yet."
"Even though I created a fake identity for you, and there's no blood relation between you and your brother, Christopher is a highly dangerous man-sharp, cunning, and suspicious-so we can't afford to let our guard down."
Cece and her brother were orphans who grew up together in the same orphanage. During the years her brother worked for the Iverson family, Cece was away studying and working as an intern, so Taylor had not noticed the deep connection between them. This was precisely why Bella had chosen her-a true stroke of luck.
"So, Ms. Thompson, what do you want me to do next? Poison him or pull the plug?" Cece asked, her face eager and ready for action.
"Not yet." Bella leaned back calmly. "For now, don't do anything. Just deliver his medication on time every day,"
Cece looked puzzled. "With such a good opportunity to get close to him, aren't you eager to make a move?"
"Haste makes waste. Christopher is incredibly suspicious. If we act rashly, all our efforts could be for nothing." Bella's eyes gleamed with determination. "Right now, gaining his trust and getting him to lower his guard is more important than anything else. I have already planned out the rest."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2110-Christopher had been hospitalized for half a month. While Taylor managed the affairs of Iverson Group, the business at Pivotage was beyond his capacity to handle.
No matter how much they distrusted Yvonne, they had no choice but to temporarily entrust the business back to her.
Even under these circumstances, Christopher never ceased monitoring her. Besides going to the bathroom and sleeping, every move she made was under surveillance.
Yvonne could not even step outside the gates of Pivotage. Unable to leave, she had no way to retrieve the crucial evidence Oscar had hidden. If she did not get her hands on it, Oscar's sacrifice would be in vain.
With Christopher currently sidelined, this could be her only chance. Even if it meant risking everything, she had to get that information.
That night, Yvonne dressed inconspicuously, intending to slip out of Pivotage. However, luck was not on her side, as she almost immediately ran into Taylor, who had returned to fetch something for Christopher. In the dimly lit corridor, their eyes met, and the oppressive atmosphere made Yvonne feel suffocated. "Yvonne, where were you going?" Taylor stared at her darkly, like a snake ready to strike at any moment. "I want to go out," Yvonne replied, cold sweat seeping into her clothes, yet her face remained calm. Her honesty caught Taylor off guard, and his words got stuck in his throat.
"Taylor, I know that you and Mr. Iverson don't trust me," Yvonne said. She bit her lip lightly, playing the role of innocence to perfection. "I don't have any other motives for going out tonight. It's just that Mr. Iverson's birthday is coming up. I wanted to get him a gift to show my appreciation."
Taylor gawked at her. He had been so overwhelmed with work lately that if Yvonne hadn't reminded him, he might have completely forgotten about Christopher's birthday.
"Being confined here the past few days has given me a lot of time to think. If it were not for Mr. Iverson reaching out to me all those years ago, pulling me out of hell, I probably wouldn't be in this world today. And you… Taylor, you've watched me grow from a little girl into a woman. You've helped me so much, always treating me like a little sister."
Yvonne walked slowly toward Taylor. Her nose was blotchy and red, her eyes brimming with tears. "If I ever betrayed you both… I would be a fool, not even worthy of being called human. Besides, if Mr. Iverson is well, I have a chance to survive. Otherwise, I'm just a useless woman who knows nothing but how to entertain men-I wouldn't stand a chance."
She tugged at his heartstrings, her tears flowing freely. She was aiming for pity and tenderness.
Taylor was moved by her vulnerability. His pulse was racing. He even began to feel desire for the woman he had watched grow up. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed hard, then he grasped her slender shoulders and pulled her into his arms, gently comforting her.
"Yvonne, I'm so glad you've come to this realization… You don't know how happy it makes me to hear you say this."
Yvonne hid the coldness in her eyes, suppressing the revulsion churning within her and whispered softly," That's why I want to take this opportunity to show Mr. Iverson how sincere I am and to make amends. I hope he can forgive me."
"I'll plead with Mr. Iverson on your behalf," Taylor murmured, deeply inhaling the scent of her hair. "As long as you behave and stay by Mr. Iverson's side, I'll make sure you stay safe."
Although Yvonne had gained some trust from Taylor, he was not foolish enough to give her complete freedom. Moreover, he could not disobey Christopher's orders. So that night, he accompanied Yvonne as she went out to buy a gift.
"Tonight, I'd like to drive the red sports car that Mr. Iverson gave me," Yvonne pleaded. "I haven't driven in a long time, and my skills are getting rusty. If it's okay with you, I'd like to take it for a spin."
