"I see! I suppose you must be talented in some way to be recruited into the Dragon Corps at such a young age!" The Poisonwielder commented.
Since Leon and his team just arrived earlier that day, he did not know anything about Leon, nor was he aware that Leon was a Platinum Dragon Guard.
Judging from Leon's appearance, he could faintly tell that Loen was still in his twenties and assumed that Leon was only a low-level Gold Dragon Guard, so he was not threatened by Leon's presence at all.
Naturally, if he knew that Leon was a Platinum Dragon Guard, he would not have underestimated Leon.
"Whoever you are, you ruined my plan and I'm going to skin you alive for that!" The Poisonwielder said maliciously.
Before Leon could react, Fletcher snapped out of it and said, "You are the one who will die today, Poisonwielder! How dare you stick around after what you've done to the Tiddertons? the Dragon Corps will eliminate you to maintain the order of our community!"
He waved his arm and the Dragon Guards from the western region immediately surrounded the Poisonwielder.
"Fletcher, get off your high horse! I'm warning you. If anyone of you steps any closer, I will kill this Tidderton kid!" The Poisonwielder reacted swiftly and tightened his grip around the neck of the younger man, causing his face to flush from suffocation.
The young man he was holding hostage was Elder Tidderton's eldest grandson, Carl Tidderton.
"Grandpa, he- help me!" Carl pleaded, his eyes filling with fear as he struggled to breathe.
"Stop it! Let my grandson go!" Elder Tidderton roared as the other elders glared daggers at the Poisonwielder.
Since the Poisonwielder had a hostage, no one dared to move.
"Haha! Elder Tidderton, let's cut to the chase. I can let your grandson go! Where's the motherwort? Hand it over and I will let this kid go! Refuse, and you will end up with nothing but his corpse!' The Poisonwielder threatened as he chuckled darkly.
"Why you!' Elder Tidderton's expression darkened, and he immediately took out a rectangular wooden box from his pocket with resignation.
There was a dried herb inside and the unimpressive-looking herb was the motherwort they obtained.
Before Leon arrived, Elder Tidderton reached the agreement with Fletcher to use the motherwort as bait and lure the Poisonwielder out, so Elder Tidderton kept the motherwort in his pocket the entire time.
However, before they had the chance to carry out such a plan, the Poisonwielder got ahead of them, putting them at a great disadvantage.
"Poisonwielder, this is the motherwort you want! Let my grandson go, and I will hand it over to you!" Elder Tidderton said.
"Do you think me for a fool? You outnumber me and if I let your grandson go now, how am I supposed to obtain the motherwort?’ The Poisonwielder sneered, knowing perfectly well that without a hostage, the Dragon Guards would swarm him within a matter of seconds to prevent him from obtaining the motherwort.

"What do you want, then?" Elder Tidderton asked.
"It's simple. You will hand the motherwort over now, and once I get my hands on it, I will let your grandson go!" The Poisonwielder said.
"That's not happening! What if you refuse to let him go even after you obtain the motherwort?" Elder Tidderton rejected him right away.
"Are you an idiot? I have your grandson, so you don't get to negotiate terms with me! You have three seconds to hand the motherwort over before I strangle your grandson to death!" The Poisonwielder threatened.
"Y- You wouldn't dare!" Elder Tidderton paled.
"You want to bet? One, two," The Poisonwielder snorted and started counting.
"Why you!" Elder Tidderton's expression darkened as he did not know what to do.
He knew that the Poisonwielder was an infamous criminal who would never hesitate to kill. If he refused to hand over the motherwort, there was a high chance that the Poisonwielder would kill Carl and Elder Tidderton dared not to gamble with the life of his grandson.
Still, the Poisonwielder might not fulfill his promise of letting Carl go, and by handing the motherwort over, the Tiddertons and the Dragon Guards would be left in a passive position.
"Hand me the motherwort, Elder Tidderton! I will make the trade with him!" Leon proposed while Elder Tidderton was struggling to make a decision.
"Oh, okay!’ He hesitated, before handing the motherwort to Leon.
He underestimated Leon because of his age, yet Leon proved himself to be much smarter in spotting the Poisonwielder's plan, so Elder Tidderton decided to place his faith in Leon.
"Elder Tidderton, you asked for this!’ Seeing that Elder Tidderton handed the motherwort to Leon, the Poisonwielder narrowed his eyes coldly and prepared to strangle Carl to death.
"Poisonwielder, if you dare to hurt Mister Tidderton, I will destroy the motherwort right away! That way, neither of us gets what we want!" Leon reacted swiftly and grabbed the motherwort; as soon as he fired up his power, the motherwort would turn into dust.
"Why you!" The Poisonwielder's expression darkened.
He came fully prepared and had no fear for the Dragon Corps even if he lost his hostage. However, if Leon destroyed the motherwort, he would not be able to get what he came for and all his effort would go to waste.
In the end, he loosened his grip around Carl's neck and gave up on killing him.
"You have guts, kid! Go on. What do you want in exchange for the motherwort?" The Poisonwielder said.
"It's simple. We make the exchange at the same time!” Leon said.
Since they reached an impasse, the Poisonwielder would never agree to let the hostage go first, nor would the Dragon Corps agree to hand the motherwort over first. Hence, it would be best if the motherwort and the hostage were handed over to the opposite sides at the same time.
The Poisonwielder fell into silence. He glanced at Carl and turned to look at Leon, before making his decision.

"Um, alright. We'll do that! I'll hand over the hostage and you will hand over the motherwort at the same time!’ The Poisonwielder nodded and agreed to Leon's suggestion.
"Mister Wolf, please hand me the motherwort. I'll do the exchange!" Fletcher said.
Since the Poisonwielder was an Almighty martial artist and was notoriously known for his ruthlessness, Leon was far too young and weak to rival his power and he would be in danger if Leon carried out the trade.
Hence, it would be safer for Fletcher to trade with the Poisonwielder instead.
"Oh. Sure!" Leon knew that he was not powerful enough and did not refuse Fletcher's offering. He placed the motherwort back into its box and was about to hand it over to Fletcher, when the Poisonwielder stopped him.
"No! Kid, you were the one who proposed, so you have to be the one to make the trade if you want the hostage back! Don't try to get others to do your work for you!' The Poisonwielder said viciously and narrowed his eyes.
"Why shouldn't he? Poisonwielder, don't tell me that you are still plotting something!" Fletcher retorted.
He did not know why the Poisonwielder insisted on making the trade with Leon, but even a fool could tell that the Poisonwielder was plotting something.
"So what if I am? Fletcher, are you that scared of me even when you have your men surrounding me as we speak? How incompetent can the Dragon Corps be if you're this timid?’ The Poisonwielder sneered.
"Why you!" Fletcher's expression darkened as he was rendered speechless.
After all, the Poisonwielder was telling the truth; judging from the situation, the Dragon Guards outnumbered him and there was no way that Fletcher would fear him.
However, Leon was the leader of the reinforcement team from the southern region and Fletcher did not want to risk his safety either, or it would be challenging to answer to the southern branch if anything happened to Loen.
"Fletcher, forget it! If he insists that I make the trade, I'll do it! We can't just let him walk all over the Dragon Corps!' Leon said calmly.
"What?!"
"No way!’
Fletcher and the other Dragon Guards gasped in shock.
They knew that a man of Leon's age would be powerless before the Poisonwielder.
If Leon made the trade with the Poisonwielder, he would surely be attacked and would instantly suffer unimaginable injuries considering how low Leon's power level was.
"It's fine! I have nothing to fear from him!' Leon smirked.
He was no stranger to this sort of situation as he was once attacked by Harold when he tried to make a trade with the hostage involved as well. Since he experienced something similar in the past, he knew what the Poisonwielder was planning and since he had multiple weapons in hand, he was confident that the Poisonwielder would come to regret it if he dared to attack Leon.

Fletcher and the others wanted to warn Leon against underestimating the Poisonwielder, but were interrupted before they could say anything.
"That's enough! It's settled! Let's see what he is capable of!" Leon sneered and strode toward the Poisonwielder with the motherwort.
Fletcher and the others exchanged worried looks.
There were a few of them who thought that Leon was a coward for not going after the Poisonwielder, yet at this very moment, Leon remained fearless and offered to trade with the Poisonwielder at the risk of his safety.
A man as bold as him could never be a coward.
Shocked by Leon's boldness, they were all confused as to why Leon was so confident.
"Very well! As expected of a Dragon Guard!" The Poisonwielder laughed but narrowed his eyes maliciously at the same time.
Leon spotted his attempt of luring the Dragon Guards away from the Tiddertons Mansion earlier and showed unparalleled bravery for facing him directly.
The Poisonwielder knew that a man like Leon would eventually grow to become an enormous threat to him and was determined to kill Leon while he could.
Leon stepped toward the Poisonwielder and stopped when he was two meters away.
Out of concern for Loen's safety, Fletcher shot a knowing look at Randall and Scott, who immediately took a step forward to a better position.
Like Fletcher, they were both Platinum Dragon Guards who were in the Almighty State, so if the Poisonwielder attacked Leon, they would both run to Leon's rescue and execute the Poisonwielder on the spot.
"Alright, let's make the trade! On the count of three, you'll release the hostage and I'll toss the motherwort to you! If you dare to play tricks, I'll destroy the motherwort right away!" Leon warned coldly.
"Sure. I'm fine with that!" The Poisonwielder agreed without hesitation.
"Alright, then! One, two, three, Go!" Leon said, before tossing the box that contained the motherwort in the air.
"How sly!" The Poisonwielder narrowed his eyes coldly.
He thought that Leon would toss the box toward him and he would be able to kill Leon after obtaining the motherwort. However, Leon simply tossed the box into the air and if the Poisonwielder tried to make a move against Loen, Leon would have the chance to destroy the motherwort.
However, as one of the most notorious criminals, Leon was hardly as cunning as the Poisonwielder.
The Poisonwielder swiftly pushed Carl toward Leon.

"It's over!' Seeing how the Poisonwielder obtained the motherwort and managed to injure Leon with a single blow, the Dragon Guards were all devastated.
Without hesitation, they rushed to Leon's side to check his condition, no longer concerned with dealing with the Poisonwielder.
"Mister Wolf, how, how are you doing?" Fletcher asked anxiously.
They all knew that the Poisonwielder was an Almighty martial artist and since Leon took a blow directly to his chest, it was likely that Leon would not survive.
Instantly, they were all worried and devastated.
Leon was the leader of the reinforcement team from the southern region and if something bad happened to him, none of them knew how to face the Dragon Corps in the southern region.
"I'm fine. It's just a little injury. I'll live," Leon sighed and fumbled up with the help of Oliver and Abraham.
"You! You're fine?! That's great!"
Once they confirmed that Leon was not in life-threatening danger, Fletcher and the others all sighed a breath of relief. 1
"How are you alive, kid? You sure are tough!" The Poisonwielder said as he did not expect Leon to survive his attack.
"Poisonwielder, you sly, vicious scum! You are a known member of the community and an Almighty martial artist, yet you broke your promise and attacked Mister Wolf while you are handing the hostage over! Have you no shame?" Fletcher roared.
"Shame? Shame is worth nothing! Fletcher, all that matter is to win! You have no one to blame but that Wolf kid who was foolish enough to face me directly!" The Poisonwielder sneered and turned to look at Leon like he was looking at a fool.
"But!" Fletcher was rendered speechless because he knew that the Poisonwielder was right.
Anyone could tell that the Poisonwielder was plotting something when he insisted to make the trade with Leon, but Leon remained foolish and stubbornly accepted the Poisonwielder's condition despite knowing that there was danger ahead.
"Don't get all smug just yet, Poisonwielder! It's still too early to conclude which one of us is the fool here!" Leon sneered despite the pain radiating through his body.
Though he was attacked, he managed to stab the Poisonwielder with two daggers containing the Deadly Veratrum poison, which could take life within a matter of seconds, so Leon had the upper hand.
"What do you mean, kid?" An eerie feeling overwhelmed the Poisonwielder when he spotted the look on Leon's face.
He ran his energy through his internal circulation and soon noticed that a powerful poison was spread toward his arm from his palm; as he circulated his power, the spreading became even faster.

"Kid! How dare you poison me?!’ The Poisonwielder gaped and realization dawned on him that the daggers stabbed into his palm must have contained extremely powerful poison.
Not daring to wait, he immediately jabbed his compression points around his shoulder in an attempt to stop the poison from spreading.
However, the Deadly Veratrum poison was far too powerful, and even when he succeeded in sealing his circulation around his arm, he only managed to slow down the spreading of the poison.
"What a powerful poison!" The Poisonwielder's expression darkened and gasped.
He thought that Leon was foolish for daring to face him directly and did not realize until this very moment that he made a fool of himself.
Leon took the chance of the Poisonwielder's attack and poisoned him instead, and the Poisonwielder felt humiliated.
"The Poisonwielder has been poisoned? How is that possible?!"
Jaws dropped as Fletcher and the others gasped in disbelief.
Like the Poisonwielder, they all thought that Loen was acting on impulse and did not expect Leon to poison the Poisonwielder instead.
It was all so surreal that none of them could understand how Leon accomplished such a thing.
The Poisonwielder immediately pulled out a few antidote pills and swallowed them.
The Deadly Veratrum poison was extremely lethal and there was almost nothing one could do to counter its effect, but as an expert in poison, the Poisonwielder carried all kinds of antidotes with him along with the antidote for the Reaper's Breath.
Most of the antidotes he carried contained Ganoderma and Licorice, and though they could not dissolve the Deadly Veratrum poison, they could suppress its effect for a time.
"Fletcher, the Poisonwielder has been poisoned and this is our chance to take him out! Surround him and don't let him get away!" Leon roared.
Fletcher and the others snapped out of it and Fletcher immediately commanded, "That's right! Let's all attack and take him down!"
Following Fletcher's and Leon's command, the Dragon Guards from both the southern and western regions moved into formation, with some standing behind the Poisonwielder to stop him from running, while others launched their attack at the Poisonwielder alongside Scott and Randall.
"Do you think that you people have what it takes to take me down? Know your places!" The Poisonwielder sneered and leaped into the air, before throwing a handful of transparent powder toward the Dragon Guards.
"Damn it!"
"It's the Reaper’s Breath!"
"Hold your breath and back away!”
Fletcher and the others paled and swiftly backed away from the Reaper's Breath, but the powder was dispersed by the wind and soon filled the air above the entire courtyard.
Though they were all prepared, it was impossible for them to defend themselves against the Reaper's Breath.

"Brat, you dare to poison me, and now I'll show you what true poison looks like!" The Poisonwielder looked at Leon mockingly.
He went into hiding because he needed time to produce more Reaper’s Breath to defeat the Dragon Guards and rob the Tiddertons of the motherwort.
However, the poisonous plants he used for the Reaper's Breath were rare and it was challenging to produce them by mass.
He burnt through all his stock in the past two days and only ended up with three flasks of Reaper's Breath.
Since he already obtained the motherwort as he intended, the Poisonwielder wanted to leave and did not wish to waste the precious Reaper's Breath on the Dragon Guards, but Leon's attack with the poisonous daggers completely enraged him.
After being chased and attacked by the Dragon Corps repeatedly, he developed a deep grudge against the Dragon Corps, so he changed his mind and decided to eliminate Leon and the others at all costs to teach the Dragon Corps a lesson.
Not holding back any longer, the Poisonwielder tossed all three flasks of Reaper's Breath toward Leon and the others.
Instantly, the courtyard was filled with the poisonous powder and it was too late for Leon and the other Dragon Guards to back away.
"Everyone, swallow your Essential Detox Pills!" Seeing how the majority of the Dragon Guards fell victim to the poison, Leon immediately shouted and took out an Essential Detox Pill, before swallowing it as well.
Scott, Fletcher, and the others snapped out of it and immediately took the Essential Detox Pills and Detox paste they possessed.
The Essential Detox Pills were produced with effort by Leon and the pills could counter the effect of over a hundred types of poison.
Though the Reaper’s Breath was powerful, it was hardly comparable to the effect of the Deadly Veratrum poison since it did not contain motherwort.
As soon as the team from the southern region took the Essential Detox Pills, the majority of the Reaper's Breath that escaped into their bodies instantly dissolved.
On the contrary, Fletcher and the other Dragon Guards from the western region were not as lucky.
Fletcher and Randall, who were both Almighty martial artists, managed to suppress the poison with their supreme power and the aid of the Detox paste. However, all the Gold Dragon Guards below the Almighty State stumbled and collapsed onto the ground under the effect of the Reaper's Breath.
Fortunately, the Reaper's Breath was only a poison that rob one of their mobility and its victim would not be in any life-threatening danger. Hence, the Dragon Guards from the western region were merely disabled and there was no casualty at the moment.
"How can this happen?!’
Fletcher and the Dragon Guards from the western region felt as though they were struck by lightning.
They all thought that the Detox paste would work perfectly on the Reaper's Breath and none of them believed in the Essential Detox Pills when Leon offered the pills to them.
To their bewilderment. Detox paste seemed to have close to no effect on the poison, whereas the people from the southern region who took the Essential Detox Pills remained unaffected, forming a distinct contrast with the Dragon Guards from the western region who were all on the ground.
Besides feeling shocked, their hearts were all heavy with remorse.
If they knew the Essential Detox Pills worked better, they should have never rejected Leon's offer and they would not have fallen victim to the Reaper's Breath.
However, it was all too late.

"This is great! Mister Wolfs Essential Detox Pills work like magic!"
Contrary to the despair felt by Fletcher and the others, Scott and the Dragon Guards from the southern region were overjoyed.
Scott, Chad, and Jerry were originally frustrated that Leon was assigned as their leader. However, Leon showed that not only was he brave and brilliant, the pills he produced managed to effectively counter the Reaper’s Breath.
The three finally came to realize why Alfred made such an arrangement and were all impressed by Leon.
"What?! How is this possible?!" The Poisonwielder gaped in disbelief when he noticed that Leon, Scott, and a few others remained unaffected by the poison.
The Reaper's Breath was his ace card and he never missed his targets. To his bewilderment, the Reaper's Breath did not work at all on Leon and the others, which caught him by surprise.
"Poisonwielder, face your demise! Die"
Scott, Oliver, and the others snapped out of it and instantly surrounded the Poisonwielder, before lunging at him in full force.
"Damn it!" The Poisonwielder's expression darkened and he immediately moved to back away from their attack.
Since his Reaper's Breath was countered and he already had the motherwort in hand, his first response was to escape out of fear that he would be arrested or executed.
However, he immediately regained his composure when he saw that most of the Dragon Guards from the western region were on the ground and even Fletcher and Randall were affected by the poison.
He did not know why only the martial artists from the western region were affected by the poison, but he would have never escaped if they managed to counter the effect of the Reaper's Breath as well considering how there were two Almighty martial artists and dozens of other powerful martial artists on the western region end.
However, with all the members of the western region branch poisoned, Scott was the only Almighty martial artist left along with a few other SemiAlmighty martial artists.
Since the Poisonwielder himself was in the Almighty State as well, he felt no fear if he was only dealing with the southern region branch and instantly regained his confidence.
"Scott, the few of you won't succeed in hurting me! Know your places!" The Poisonwielder sneered as the smugness returned to his expression.
"Enough with your arrogance, Poisonwielder! Take my Hellish Fiery Punch!" Enraged, Scott launched his most powerful attack.
His attack multiplied and transformed into punches wrapped in flame as they darted toward the Poisonwielder.
"That's nothing! Take this, Earthly Barrier!” The Poisonwielder sneered and placed his palm on the ground. The soil beneath him instantly rose and formed a wall to block the fiery punches from Scott.

"Baam!’
Scott's fiery fist shattered the wall before the Poisonwielder, sending rocks and dirt flying in the air toward Oliver and the others, who were then forced to back away.
Taking advantage of the distance, the Poisonwielder charged toward Leon at the speed of lightning.
After observing the earlier exchange, he realized that Leon was the leader of the Dragon Guards from the southern region with extremely high status, so he would be able to apply great damage to the Dragon Corps by killing Leon.
On top of that, Leon exposed the Poisonwielder's plan and countered the effect of his Reaper's Breath, effectively ruining the Poisonwielder's scheme repeatedly.
The Poisonwielder was determined to vent his anger by eliminating Leon before leaving, as his resentment toward Leon reached its peak.
"No! He wants to attack Mister Wolf! Stop him!" Scott immediately noticed the Poisonwielder's intention and was stunned.
He immediately waved off the dirt before them and hurried after the Poisonwielder alongside Oliver and the others.
Since the Poisonwielder was in the Initial Almighty State, he did not fall short in speed and explosive power compared to Scott.
On top of that, he had the element of surprise and despite the others’ efforts, none of them could catch up to him while he darted toward Leon.
"Don't you dare!"
Just as the Poisonwielder was about to kill Leon, Fletcher and Randall hurried forward and stood before Leon to stop the Poisonwielder.
The two launched a powerful attack each at the Poisonwielder, which would have taken the Poisonwielder down within an instant if they were in primal states. However, they were both affected by the Reaper's Breath and only managed to suppress the effect of the poison with their power and the mild effect of the Detox paste. 1
Under the effect of the poison, they could barely wield half of their true energy, so the Poisonwielder had no fear of them.
"Get out of my way, old twats!" The Poisonwielder scoffed and extended both his arms in the air, before launching two counterattacks at the same time toward Fletcher and Randall.

The power of Fletcher and Randall slammed against the Poisonwielder's attack.
The Poisonwielder remained standing, whereas Fletcher and Randall were sent flying into the distance.
A sharp pain pierced through their chests and they instantly spewed blood from their mouths because of the injuries they suffered internally.
However, their effort was not in vain, and because of their interference, Scott, Oliver, and the others were given the chance to catch up to the Poisonwielder.
"Hellish Fiery Punch!" Scott roared before launching his best skill, sending a wave of fiery punches toward the Poisonwielder.
Oliver, Abraham, and the others released their energy as well, allowing it to combine into an extremely powerful strike, before sending it toward the Poisonwielder alongside Scott's Hellish Fiery Punch to eliminate the Poisonwielder. 2
