Ch. 2451..2460
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2451
"Kid, you better know your place! Cynthion Group is just a small pharmaceutical firm in the southern region. The Morrisons are already making great sacrifices to split the profit in half! Don't get cocky!" Jayden was displeased upon hearing Leon's refusal.
Though Cynthion Group gathered tremendous fame in the southern region and became the most successful enterprise in the area. However, the western region was too far away and the Morrisons did not know anything about Cynthion Group or its success.
Jayden decided that Cynthion Group was a small pharmaceutical firm with no connections in the western region. Without the Morrisons' help, it would be almost impossible for them to open a branch there.
Hence, Jayden and Georgie felt a sense of superiority, thinking that the Morrisons were above Cynthion Group. If Cynthion Group wanted to expand to the western region, Leon would have to agree to their terms.
"Yeah, Jayden's right! Fifty-fifty is the best we can do! Mister Wolf, please consider this again!"
The other elders agreed along. They all shared Caleb's stance, thinking that Cynthion Group was merely an insignificant pharmaceutical firm that needed to rely on the Morrisons to survive in the western region.
They even felt that Cynthion Group should consider this opportunity an honor.
Caleb already made a compromise regarding the division of profit, yet Hugh wouldn't agree to it and in their eyes, this translated into arrogance.
Instantly, they were all provoked by what Jayden said and started to apply pressure on Leon, hoping that he would cave.
"There's nothing to consider. I told you that the share for our branch in the western region will not be given to anyone else! This is non-negotiable!" Facing the Morrisons' confrontation, Leon maintained his composure and determination.
"Why you-" Jayden and the others stared at him darkly with resignation.
"Mister Wolf, don't be so sure of this. Why don't you make a call to your chairman to seek his opinion on the matter?
Maybe he will feel differently." Caleb frowned.
Though he did not look down on Cynthion Group like the others did, the Morrisons prided themselves as the most powerful family in the western region, which made Cynthion Group an insignificant firm in comparison. He knew that Cynthion Group would surely benefit from working with the Morrisons and if Leon was told about this, there might be a way for them to reach a consensus.
However, Leon did not come and if Caleb wanted to communicate with Leon, he would have to do so through Hugh. So long as Hugh reported this to Leon, Caleb was certain that Leon would agree to their proposal.
Naturally, he was not aware that the man before him was Leon and not just some young man, so there was no way that Leon would agree to such unreasonable terms.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2452
"It's fine. Elder Morrison, the chairman has left me in charge of this matter before I come to the western region. There’s no way that you're getting fifty percent of the profit!" Leon said decisively.
"What do you propose, then?" Caleb's expression darkened as he was displeased by how difficult Leon was being.
"I'll repeat: if the Morrisons want to work with Cynthion Group, the profit will be divided by twenty-eighty! The Morrisons will have access to twenty percent of Cynthion Group's total profit made in the western region, but you will have no company share!" Leon said.
He initially planned to offer the Morrisons thirty percent of the profit as a gesture of courtesy. However, the Morrisons remained arrogant and greedy without any respect for the Cynthion Group.
It was clear that they did not treasure this opportunity.
Leon was mild-tempered but was still enraged by their attitude. Hence, he did not hold back and insisted on offering the Morrisons twenty percent of the profit.
If the Morrisons were willing to accept it, an agreement could be formed, but if they refused, Leon could simply search for another family to cooperate with.
Just like the southern region, there were plenty of powerful families in the area and the Morrisons were not his only option.
Considering the market value and influence of Cynthion Group, partnered with the magical effects of the alchemical pills, Leon was certain that other families would be pleased to work with him.
"Twenty-eighty? No way. That's too little. We won't agree to this!" Jayden chimed in, clearly displeased with Leon's terms.
"He's right!"
"Cynthion Group's offering too little. They don't respect us!"
"The Morrisons won't accept this!"
The elders were all furious as well and agreed along with Jayden.
"Elder Morrison, we can still be friends even if we don't do business with one another. Since the Morrisons don't want to collaborate, I won't overstay my welcome. Goodbye!" Seeing as the others continued to act arrogantly, Leon could not be bothered and stood to leave.
"Wait! Mister Wolf! Don't go!" Shocked, Hugo immediately stopped him.
"Grandpa, the alchemical pills in Cynthion Group work magic and they are respected in the southern region. I saw that with my own eyes! Mister Wolf proposed to divide the profit this way not because he disrespects us, but because we'll be gaining a tremendous amount of money even if we are getting twenty percent of the total profit.” Hugo turned to Caleb.
He was the only one who had been to Cynthion Group's sales drive so no one knew just how profitable Cynthion Group’s business was other than him.
According to what he saw, a single sales drive would get Cynthion Group a profit of 437 million or even more.
Though the Morrisons were the most powerful family in the western region with a total worth of a few billion, their annual profit was around 100 million.
Collaborating with Cynthion Group would bring forth 650 million profit annually or even more.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2453
Well," Caleb fell into silence upon hearing Hugo's words.
The profit Leon offered earlier was too low for the Morrisons to consider, but Hugo was right.
the alchemical pills sold by Cynthion Group held great potential and the Morrisons would only benefit from partnering with it. It would be foolish of him to miss this opportunity and refuse to work with Cynthion Group.
"Grandpa, this is a one-in-a-lifetime chance. You need to consider it more carefully," Seeing the hesitation on his face, Hugo continued.
When he participated in Cynthion Group's sales drive, Leon did not intend to expand his business to the western region at the time. It was Hugo who proposed to collect herbs for Leon and therefore fought for a chance for the Morrisons to work with Cynthion Group.
Everything was about to be finalized, yet Leon seemed ready to call off the deal due to issues with the profit division and the arrogant attitude the others put on.
For the sake of the family, Hugo could only try to convince Caleb, hoping that he would accept Leon's terms to prevent such a great opportunity from slipping away.
"Hugo, what are you trying to do? Cynthion Group is just giving us twenty percent of its profit and won’t even offer us its company share! It's clear that these people bear ill intentions, yet here you are defending them, trying to get your grandfather to agree to it. From the way I see it, Cynthion Group is probably paying you!" Before Caleb could come to a decision, Jayden scoffed.
"What?" Hugo was shocked as he did not expect Jayden to target him.
That completely caught him off-guard and the same went with Caleb and the others as well.
They all turned to stare at Hugo sharply.
Hugo was the first person who proposed the collaboration with Cynthion Group.
Though his initial intention was to fight for the family's gain, the others started to suspect him after hearing what Jayden said.
The offer Cynthion Group gave was merely too low, yet Hugo defended an outsider and tried to get his family to accept such an unfavorable deal, so it all seemed suspicious.
Instantly, they were all influenced by Jayden and started suspecting that Hugo was bribed by Cynthion Group to defend them.
"No! Grandpa, I'm not defending Cynthion Group, nor did I get anything from them! I'm doing this for the future of our family and I have no selfish consideration," Panicking, Hugo tried to defend himself.
"That's enough! Say no more! Whether you have selfish intentions isn't important! The offer Cynthion Group gave is just unacceptable for the Morrisons!" Caleb said, clearly deciding to accept advice from Jayden and the elders.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2454-
But," Hugo refused to give up and wanted to talk to Caleb, only for Caleb to interrupt him.
"That's the end of the discussion. Hugo, show our guests the way out! Mister Wolf has come a long way, so send him to the best hotel to rest! As for this collaboration, allow me some more time to consider!" Caleb said.
Though he was not pleased with the terms Leon offered, with his experience, he could tell that the Morrisons would surely benefit from working with Cynthion Group. Hence, he did not turn the deal down.
He intended to get Hugo to settle Leon down and leave Leon hanging for a few days.
Once Leon started to feel nervous or became willing to make compromises, Caleb could agree to work with Cynthion Group.
That way, the Morrisons could remain in control and keep Cynthion Group at bay to fight for the most profit.
"Well, alright, then." Rendered helpless, Hugo could only give up.
"It's fine! Thank you for your kind offering, Elder Morrison! I will find my place to stay, so I won't trouble the Morrisons with that," Leon said, before turning to leave.
"Mister Wolf, please wait!" Seeing as Leon was leaving, Hugo hurried after him.
…
After leaving the hall, Hugo walked alongside Leon through the yard and toward the gate.
"Mister Wolf, please forgive them. My uncle and the others offended you and I beg your forgiveness." Hugo smiled apologetically and apologized for his family's rudeness.
"It's not a big deal! We just have different stances. It's understandable!" Leon smiled.
After experiencing all the crises in Springfield City and the southern region, Leon matured as an entrepreneur, so he could tell what Caleb and the others were thinking.
They held their connections as leverage and tried to fight for more profit, which was normal. Hence, Leon did not take it personally.
However, the Morrisons' arrogance and their ways of looking down on Cynthion Group did enrage Leon.
Since they looked down on Cynthion Group and showed no eagerness to cooperate, Leon saw no point in begging for their help, as that went against his character.
He decided to abandon this deal with the Morrisons and search for another family to work with.
"Mister Morrison, let's set the collaboration aside for now! You must have put a lot of time and effort into searching for those herbs I needed. If you're okay with it, Cynthion Group can purchase those herbs at a price higher than market value, so your effort won't be in vain," Leon said thoughtfully.
Though he disliked Caleb and the others, he had a great impression of Hugo, who was always polite.
After all the effort Hugo put into collecting herbs Cynthion Group desperately needed, Leon was more than willing to purchase those herbs at a high price to show his gratitude.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2455
"Please don't say that!” Hugo's heart sank.
As the eldest son of the Morrisons and the brightest among the youngest generation in the western region, Hugo was perceptive and could tell that Leon was prepared to give on this partnership with the Morrisons when he offered to pay for the herbs.
This was hardly the result he hoped for.
"Mister Wolf, my grandpa, and the others are just blinded by greed. Please give me some time to talk to them. Don't worry. I'll convince him to agree to work together," Hugo said sincerely.
"It's fine. There's no need to force it. Let this end here!" Leon shook his head.
"But," Hugo tried to debate but was interrupted by Leon.
"That's the end of the discussion! Mister Morrison, as I've mentioned before, we can still be friends even if we can't do business with one another! As for the herbs you've found, you can contact me if you feel like selling them to Cynthion Group," Leon said.
"Well." Hugo fell into silence.
He knew that Leon came from the southern region because he was sincerely hoping for a business alliance with the Morrisons. However, the Morrisons were far too proud and asked for too much, which led to the deal being called off.
The Morrisons bullied Leon and Leon was not the one who refused to work with them.
At the moment, if Hugo wanted to salvage the deal, he needed to convince Caleb to accept the conditions and convince Leon to give them another chance.
If that could be achieved, perhaps there would still be a chance for this to succeed. If not, there would not be a point for him to convince Leon to change his mind.
"Alright! Mister Morrison, go home. I'll take my leave now!"
Just then, Leon and Hugo arrived at the gate and Leon stopped to bid farewell to Hugo, preparing to drive away.
"Mister Wolf, this is your first time here in the western region. You don't know your way around, so why don't I send you to a hotel and help you settle down?"
Hugo snapped out of it and offered.
"It's fine," Leon was about to reject his offer when a melodious voice sounded behind them.
"Hugo, leave Mister Wolf under my care. I'll send him to a hotel. You should head back inside to talk to Grandpa. Stop him from being blinded by all the things Uncle and Georgie said." Renee approached with a smile.
She was there throughout the entire discussion between Leon and Caleb. Even she had to admit that Jayden and Georgie crossed the line for being so arrogant.
However, she was just a young woman who knew nothing much about Cynthion Group, so she was in no position to chime in. However, she could tell that Hugo wanted this deal to succeed and she had to support her brother.
Hence, she followed Hugo and Leon, hoping to see how she could help.
"Sure! Renee, I'll leave Mister Wolf to you, then!" Hugo's eyes lit up.
He realized that he needed Caleb to compromise if he wanted to salvage the business deal with Cynthion Group. Since Renee offered to get Leon to a hotel, Hugo could take this opportunity to convince Caleb to change his mind.
Before Leon had the chance to react, Hugo left him under Renee's care and went back inside.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2456
After Hugo left, Renee walked over and scanned Leon from head to toe, her expression strange.
"What's wrong, Miss Morrison? Why are you looking at me like that?" Leon asked in confusion and touched his face, feeling uncomfortable at her prying gaze.
"Mister Wolf, you seem like an ordinary person, but you sure have guts. My uncle and the elders were all pressuring you into submission, yet you kept your composure and showed no fear at all. That's hardly ordinary," Renee complimented.
Like the others, she assumed that Leon was merely a vice president and looked down on him. However, when Leon was in a discussion with Caleb, Jayden and the others pressured Leon into accepting a more favorable deal for the Morrisons. Still, Leon did not lose his composure and remained unwavering under the pressure.
Renee was impressed, as Jayden and the elders were all in the Almighty State.
Leon, on the other hand, was merely a young vice president of Cynthion Group.
Considering his age, it was a shock that he managed to stand firm before the intimidating presence of a few martial artists in the Almighty State.
With such determination and composure, Renee couldn't help but respect him.
"Miss Morrison, you're too kind." Leon smiled.
Southern Boss could not defeat him. Though Caleb and the other elders in the Morrisons were all in the Almighty State, they were hardly at the Southern Boss's level.
Since even the Southern Boss could not harm him, Leon had no fear of Caleb and the others.
"Mister Wolf, it's no wonder that your chairman sent you here to meet with us.
You are something! For a vice president to be this capable, your chairman must be even more brilliant," Renee said, her curiosity about Leon rising once again.
Birds of a feather flocked together, and if Hugh was capable, the person he worked for was likely even better.
"Of course. Our chairman is far more brilliant," Leon said, feeling like he was bragging.
"If you compare your chairman to my brother, who's better?" Renee's interest was piqued.
"They are more or less the same, I guess," Leon smiled modestly.
Through meeting with Hugo twice, Leon could tell that Hugo was perceptive with a sharp sense for business. Hence, he might not rival Hugo in terms of running a business. However, in terms of achievements in physical strength and skills such as medical skills and alchemical skills, Leon was far superior.
He and Hugo both had their strengths and Leon was always a modest person, so he gave Renee a vague answer without bragging about his abilities since that was not how he did things.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2457
"Oh? Is that so? If there's a chance in the future, I'd love to see if that chairman of yours is as great as my brother!" Renee said eagerly.
Hugo was the most brilliant person in the younger generation and one of the thirteen martial artists who were named on the Elite list, so his power was unparalleled. To Renee, Hugo was always her role model and idol and amongst the younger generation, she was never anyone who could compare to her brother.
Yet, Hugh mentioned that Leon was as brilliant as Hugo.
Renee struggled to believe that and her curiosity toward Leon grew, as she itched to see if Leon truly matched Hugo.
"Well, there will be chances where you can do so," Leon smiled, his expression awkward as he could not tell Renee he was Leon.
"Oh, forgot about Leon! Let me send you to the hotel to rest. " Renee changed the subject.
"It's fine! Miss Morrison, I'll head to the hotel myself. I wouldn't want to trouble you over such a trivial matter." Leon recalled what he set out to do and rejected her offer politely.
"What, aren't you happy that a beautiful woman is offering to help?" Renee seemed displeased.
"Um," Leon was instantly rendered speechless.
"Stop hesitating! You are a guest, so quit saying refusing! Let's go!" Renee dragged Leon into the car.
By the time Leon snapped out of it, he was already in the car with Renee.
"Okay, then."
Seeing how insistent she was, Leon was resigned, but since Renee meant well and it was not a big matter, he decided against refusing and accepted her gesture of kindness.
He started the car and headed toward the hotel with Renee.
Meanwhile, Hugo returned to the main hall to find Caleb and the other elders leaving.
"Hugo? I thought I sent you to make arrangements for Mister Wolf's stay. Why are you back so soon?" Caleb asked when he saw Hugo.
"Oh, Renee offered to help with that," Hugo explained, before changing the subject to try and convince Caleb." Grandpa, please consider the partnership between Cynthion Group and the Morrisons again."
There's nothing to consider! The profit Mister Wolf offered us was too low and he even said we weren't getting any share. The Morrisons won't accept such harsh conditions! We'll keep him hanging for a few days and resume the discussion once he is ready for a compromise!" Caleb said.
The business world was similar to a battlefield and he assumed that this was a tug of war between him and Leon. Whoever was the first to cave would have to suffer financially. On the contrary, whoever lasted to the end would profit more.
"Yeah, Caleb's right!"
"Mister Wolf looks young, so in a few days, he'll cave!"
The other elders agreed along.
Up until this moment, they remained arrogant, assuming that they had Leon and Cynthion Group wrapped around their fingers.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2458-"Grandpa, that's wrong! I've just spoken to Mister Wolf and he has already decided to give up on collaborating with the Morrisons. If we keep holding ourselves in too high a regard and attempt to control Cynthion Group, we will only suffer and lose this opportunity," Hugo said hastily when he saw that the others remained stubborn.
Though he only saw Leon a few times, he knew everything about Cynthion Group's background. Considering Cynthion Group's potential, Leon did not need to beg the Morrisons for their help and therefore had no reason to compromise, because that would be unrealistic.
"He wants to give up on working with us? What a joke! Cynthion Group is just a small pharmaceutical firm with no support here in the western region. If they want to expand, they will have to work with the Morrisons, or they won't succeed!" Jayden sneered and scoffed at Hugo's words.
"He is right! Hugo, Mister Wolf is just putting up an act to scare you! This is a cheap business trick, so don't fall for it!"
The other elders, too, did not take this seriously.
"That's not going to happen! Cynthion Group’s pills can aid martial artists in their training and that makes them irreplaceable. The same can't be said about us.
There are a lot of powerful families here in the western region and any one of them can replace us. Even if we refuse to work with Cynthion Group. Others would fight to work with them," Hugo explained patiently.
Leon was here earlier and he did not want to be overly blunt out of respect for his family. However, with Leon gone, he saw the opportunity to present the pros and cons of this partnership.
At the moment, the Morrisons needed this partnership more than Cynthion Group.
If Caleb and the elders refused to see reasons and continued their stubborn ways, they would regret it once Leon found another powerful family to work with.
"Oh!"
Upon hearing this, Caleb and the elders were stunned and realization dawned on them.
Taking pride in the fact that they were the most powerful family in the western region, they assumed that Cynthion Group should be honored for a chance to work with them. On top of that, they even felt that Cynthion Group had to rely on them to set foot in the area.
Hence, when Leon offered a profit lower than what they expected, they were all displeased.
However, upon hearing Hugo's explanation, they finally realized that they overestimated the Morrisons' importance to the Cynthion Group.
As Hugo mentioned, there were plenty of powerful families in the western region and Cynthion Group did not have to cooperate with the Morrisons.
If Cynthion Group chose to work with another family, the Morrisons would lose the chance to form a partnership with Cynthion Group, which was not something they wished to see.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2459
Hugo, don't bother trying to fool us! Cynthion Group is just a pharmaceutical firm with no fame. They had nothing here in the western region, so why would other families fight for a chance to work with them? Besides, it's not a big deal even if other families want to work with them. The profit they offer is too low. If even we struggle to accept it, others would feel the same as well!" Jayden sneered and argued.
"That's true!” "It's indeed quite unlikely!"
Caleb and the elders were all relieved at his words as they all agreed with what Jayden said.
People were often moved by selfish intentions and all families in the western region would prioritize the family's gain. The profit Cynthion Group offered was far too low and did not include company shares.
Such a deal was practically a charity case and other families would not accept it either. Hence, Cynthion Group might not be able to find other partners.
"No, Uncle. You've underestimated Cynthion Group! They made at least 437 million or above from that one sales drive I attended. Though the profit Cynthion Group offers sounds little, any family that works with them will at least gain a profit of 650 million annually. There's no risk to this investment and there's a high return. Why would other families hesitate to work with Cynthion Group?" Hugo said.
"What? Did you just say that twenty percent of Cynthion Group's profit would amount to close to 650 million per year? Really?” Caleb and the elders were all stunned.
Though the Morrisons were the most powerful family in the western region with a total worth of up to billions, their annual profit would add up to roughly a billion once tax and business losses were deducted.
if the Morrisons could truly gain 650 million or above through cooperating with Cynthion Group, this would be a significant gain.
Due to Cynthion Group's unique condition, all the Morrisons needed to do was help in various aspects and did not need to bear any risk at all for the profit.
Others could only hope for a chance at such a wonderful deal, yet they turned it down for their pride.
Instantly, they all realized just how foolish they were.
"It's true. 650 million is just a rough estimate I made. It can be even more," Hugo nodded and briefly explained what he saw in the sales drive.
Though Cynthion Group's total profit was confidential, Hugo was talented enough to determine that Cynthion Group would 400 to 500 million for each sales drive they hosted.
All Cynthion Group needed to do was hold a few sales drives and they would make a great fortune.
Indeed, Cynthion Group's financial potential and capability surpassed Hugo's anticipation, with the sheer profit from each sales drive going up to 650 million or above.
Combined with the profit made by selling ordinary pills such as Energy Nurturing pills and Circulation pills, the sky was the limit.
This was precisely how Cynthion Group managed to become the most famous new enterprise in the southern region within a matter of months.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2460
"Oh-"
Caleb and the elders were utterly stunned by Hugo's explanation.
They did not know much about Cynthion Group before this and looked down on it, thinking that twenty percent of the total profit was too little. Hence, they decided to turn Leon's proposal down.
However, upon learning more details about Cynthion Group from Hugo, they realized that there was more to the company than they initially expected and they were too shallow.
"Nonsense! Cynthion Group is just a small pharmaceutical firm, so how can they make such a great profit? Hugo, do you have any proof to back your words up?"
Jayden scoffed, still skeptical of what Hugo said.
Though he did not know much about Cynthion Group, he could name practically all families in power in the southern region, so he knew that Cynthion Group did not belong to any family.
Hence, he assumed that Cynthion Group was a newly established enterprise or simply had no fame, regardless, there was no way that Cynthion Group had such financial capability and it would not be realistic to assume they did.
"That's right!"
"It's quite odd, indeed!"
Caleb and the elders came to a realization and turned to look at Hugo.
They agreed with Jayden and could not believe that a small pharmaceutical company like Cynthion Group could make a profit that surpassed that of powerful families.
None of them were convinced that Cynthion Group was capable of that. Hence, they started to doubt Hugo and his words.
"I saw everything with my own eyes. What other proof do you need?" Hugo scowled.
He merely estimated Cynthion Group's profit and could not tell if he was right.
Moreover, he was hardly related to Cynthion Group in any way, so Leon could not possibly give him access to the company's financial report. Hence, there was no way that he could find any physical evidence.
