Ch. 1601..1610
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1601-Just as Fleur was laughing gleefully, Frank raised a brow, and a subtle strand of pure vigor shot out of his finger. It shot straight toward Fleur along the lining of the tile floor, and it was too late by the time Mr. Noon noticed. Smack!
The pure vigor materialized into palm, slapping Fleur across the face so viciously several of her teeth flew out, and she dropped limply on the floor, seeing stars.
Yora promptly wheeled on Frank and snapped, "Insolence! How dare you, Frank Lawrence!"
Beside her, Mr. Noon only moved closer to her without going to help Fleur.
Nheless, Frank shrugged. "What?"
On the other hand, Fleur was finally helped to her feet, and her eyes flared even as she pointed a trembling finger at Frank. "You brat… How dare you…"
"Why is everyone looking at me here? Someone simply got her comeuppance for running her mouth-it's not my fault," Frank said, glancing at Helen. Helen was surprised too but soon flashed a wry smile.
She knew that it was Frank, and while she was concerned, the slap was still cathartic.
Fleur groaned, "Madam Yimmel, they're…"
"We're leaving!" Yora snapped and glared at Fleur right then, clearly telling her that she was slapped because she deserved it.
Still, she added, "You have three days, Frank Lawrence. Keep strutting while you can."
And with those words, she left with her entourage.
Fleur remained seething but did not dare breathe another word and clutched her cheek as she fled behind Yora.
Still, her eyes flashed with spite before she left, making it clear that she would not let this slide.
Nheless, silence ensued in the room after she and Yora's entourage left.
Even so, Gina's eyes still carried hope as she held what remained of the recorder in her palm. "Helen, do you think we can fix this? I picked up all the pieces, and…"
Helen slapped everything off her hands, shaking her head. "Just stay out of this, Mom. Frank and I will handle this."
"Handle this?! How?!"
Gina broke down right then, burying her face in her palms as she sobbed, "I thought things would get better for us after you became the head of the family. But Madam Yimmel is just savage! I know Frank is amazing, but the Yimmels are no slouches themselves! "I've even heard that there are monsters among the ranks of their retainers… We should just give up and return to Riverton! Being alive beats everything else!"
Gina's pessimistic rant left Helen frowned.
She had been working herself to the bone for Lanecorp over the last few months and had no time for herself, while even back at Riverton, she could at least spend time cooking for Frank. Moreover, aside from Frank's immense influence, Helen was the mainstay in Lanecorp's current successes.
As such, giving up on Lanecorp would hurt her more than cutting her open.
After some thought, Helen found her determination and clenched her knuckles. "I'm going to Laneville. Grandunele's health is more important than Lanecorp. I'd nal ne forgive myself if anything happens to him because of me."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1602-"No!"
Gina's face fell at Helen's word. "Going back to Laneville now? You'd be going straight into the lion's den-you're never making it out! Do you think that Fleur Lang would just let you go?"
Helen sighed. "But if I don't, they will kill Granduncle "
"Enough."
Frank strode up just as mother and daughter argued, glancing between them. "I caused this in the first place-Hardy Xinder reached out to Corpsedale to get back at me, and Corpsedale reached out to Southstream Lanes. That said, I already have an idea how to resolve this issue. Both of you just have to play along…"
"Frank…"
Helen's eyes flickered at him.
He pulled her into his arms, chuckling as he understood what she was thinking. "I'm your darling, so there's no need to stand on ceremony. And I've put in blood and sweat for Lanecorp too-we're never giving it up willingly to Fleur Lang, don't you think?"
Helen finally laughed after scowling for a while, while Gina sighed emotionally as she watched them, feeling troubled as she once again remembered her prejudices against Frank.
Still, she could not help adding, "Madam Yimmel is not one to be trifled with, Frank. You must be careful."
Frank was actually surprised by Gina's concern but soon smiled confidently. "Don't worry, I won't let harm come to either of you as long as I'm around."
Then, turning to the unconscious Jade Zahn, he said quietly, "She's in your care now. I need to leave for a while, so just make sure that she doesn't do anything drastic."
"Yeah." Helen nodded firmly.
Fleur's cheek was still hurting as she stepped outside Lanecorp Tower's main entrance, and she beckoned for one of her bodyguards. "Yes, Madam Lang?"
While the bodyguard was Fleur's close ally, he was too afraid to even snap at Frank when Frank attacked Fleur something which left Fleur seething. And knowing that he messed up, he was utterly respectful.
"Go search Gable's body and see if he has the medicine with him," Fleur growled, clutching her cheek.
"Yes, ma'am!"
The bodyguard hurried away immediately, fighting against his heaving stomach to search the mess of blood and guts that was Gable Lane.
After all, Gable was no martial artist, and that was the only outcome possible when Frank kicked him out from so many floors above.
Still, when the bodyguard eventually returned to Fleur, he reported, "He didn't have it with him, Madam Lang."
"Damn it!" Fleur cursed, not heartbroken at all that her own son was dead, only that he was so incompetent that he could not even bring her the medicine. "Frank Lawrence most likely took it," the bodyguard suggested hesitantly.
"Mooks! Pricks!"
Fleur sobbed into her palms, before looking up, her eyes flashing viciously. "You will pay for this, Frank Lawrence!"
That was when a Lincoln limousine stopped by the curb.
Jon Lane Gavin Lane's second son-alighted. "Madam Lang? What are you doing out here? Dad's saying that Grandfather fell sick, and he's asking you to head back right away."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1603-Jon Lane-Gavin Lane's second son-alighted. "Madam Lang? What are you doing out here? Dad's saying that Grandfather fell sick, and he's asking you to head back right away."
He was very respectful, since he had no idea why his grandfather was sick in the first place.
As he finished and turned to see the imposing woman beside Fleur, he stiffened right then. "Madam Yimmel? W-What are you doing here? My dad just sent someone to Bralog="
Yora snorted coolly. "Hmph! It would be the end of the world if I had to wait that long!"
Jon quickly hung his head, sweating all over his brow in silence.
After all, Yora held a special place in the family—not only was she Mark Lane's first wife, but she was also the foundation which Mark built his success in business upon.
One might say that the Lane family would not enjoy their current status without the Yimmels' help-even Mark usually had to defer to her.
And since Yora was as unreasonable as she was assertive, the Lane were all terrified of her.
Even as Yora stared at Jon, he felt goosebumps, his throat suddenly parched as he did not know what to say.
And after much staring, Yora asked quietly, "Jon, right?"
"Y-Yes, Madam Yimmel. It's Jon," Jon quickly replied, wiping the sweat off his brow at the same time.
Yora nodded. "Good. You will be the next head of the Lane family."
"What?!"
Jon looked up at Yora's sudden bombshell, his whole body stiffening.
Eventually, he mustered an awkward smile even as he stammered, "Y-You're kidding, right, Madam Yimmel? Grandfather has already appointed Helen Lane as the next head of the family, and I have no right to even compete―"
"Hmph. How unseemly."
Yora snorted coolly and haughtily. "I've met Helen myself-she has no business leading the family. Just so you know, I've formally announced that she must step down as both the head of the family and the chairwoman of Lanecorp."
"What?!"
Jon was left gaping.
So that was why Yora and Fleur would show up here they were forcing Helen to step down!
Even so, Jon was left hesitant.
After all, ever since Helen became head, things became stable within the family, while Lanecorp have been developing like clockwork. swn Thanks to that, even Jon himself got a share of the sizable spoils.
And to be honest, Jon earnestly respected his cousin.
If he were to take her place, forget about doing better-Lanecorp would be lucky if he did not run them into the ground. That was why Jon turned pale when Yora told him that he would be appointed the new head of the Lane family.
Be it in competence or experience, Jon could not fill Helen's shoes!
However, Yora seemed to read his mind and asked coolly, "You don't think you can do it, do you?"
"You're right, Madam Yimmel. I have no right, and I'm not as competent as Helen to lead the family. It's just…"
Jon was terrified, and becoming et head of the family was a burden to him and would not do him any good.
As such, he definitely did not want to get involved.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1604-Yora, however, sneered. "You don't worry about that. While you're head of the family, you're no more than a figurehead—every family matter will instead fall under my control."
"What?!"
Jon almost tripped-so he was only supposed to be a puppet?
What did Yora want? To take over the family?
"That's a big deal, Madam Yimmel. It's not too late-we can go back and discuss this with Grandfather…"""
Resistant to the idea, Jon decided to name-drop Mark, but Yora did not even flinch.
Shaking her head in disdain, she scoffed. "You said it, didn't you? The old man's dying and can't decide on anything. As the most senior member of the family, I'm the only one who can make the call."
"No, no, no…"
Jon protested. "Grandfather is just sick. It's not so serious that he must leave a will already… and Dad's already sent for the best doctors. He'll regain consciousness soon enough."
Seeing that Jon was still not playing along, Yora turned toward Fleur, who flinched but said coolly, "Your grandfather's not going to wake up anytime soon, Jon."
Her confidence left Jon at once suspicious. "What? Why?"
Fleur sighed but explained, "Because your grandfather's been poisoned with the Lifecutter. It's a poison unique to Hundred Bane Sect-it would look like the patient has suffered a heart attack, but in reality it paralyzes a person's limbs and senses completely. Your grandfather is completely bedridden from now on."
"W-What?! Madam Lang, did you… But why? Why would you do that?!"
Jon was left trembling even as he stared at Fleur in disbelief-despite being as dense as he was, he could understand what was happening. Even as he glanced between the two elderly women standing before him, he felt a chill running down his neck all the way to his feet.
These women were his grandfather's wives, and his grandfather had always treated them fairly.
So why would they do that?!
Most importantly, an attempt on one husband's life meant death in Lane family rules! What did they have against Mark that they would poison him?! "Fine, then I will be frank."
e Folding her arms before her chest, Yora sneered as she began. "Your grandfather is old, Jon… and elderly people always lose their sight. Forget-taking back the Northstream Lanes which, I must add, was done without my permission-was?
appointed Helen Lane as head of the family behind my back! "On top of that, he is well aware of the feud between myself and Henry Lane! Helen's dear grandfather was the one who mocked me right in front of the whole family, and I can't forget it even after all these years! swne et "I wouldn't mind it that much if Helen proved tactful, but she has only ever treated me with insolence, and that is absolutely unacceptable! Hell, I tried to reason with your grandfather after everything he did, but he remained stubborn as if possessed and stuck to his guns. Even your father only gave me a half-hearted response when I approached him! "So, since none of you are going to do a thing, I will do it myself and bring the Lane family back on the right track soon enough!"
The vindictive tone in which Yora spoke made her appear as if she was the heroine rescuing her family from disaster.
However, even Jon could tell that in reality, it was all because Yora hated Henry Lane and his heirs to the bone.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1605- "B-But even if Grandfather wouldn't listen, you didn't have to go that far. He's your husband, and…"
Jon trailed off feebly as fear seized him.
If Yora could go that far, it made sense that she could eliminate him for her own ends.
And to no surprise, Yora narrowed her eyes dangerously at him as she snorted. "Hmph. I guess I can make it simple for you-go back to Laneville and take your place as the new head of the Lane family… Or I'd just have to pick someone else."
Jon gulped, as his worst fear had come true.
If he refused Yora, he would not fare any better than his grandfather.
What choice did he have if he wanted to stay alive?
Hence, after some thought, Jon quietly nodded.
However, his face was ashen, and he certainly did not appear pleased or thrilled to become the new head of the Lane family.
"Very good."
Yora clapped him on the shoulder with a smile. "Though you might be head of the family in name only, you stand to gain much. Just stick to being a figurehead-don't worry about the details."
"Thank you, Madam Yimmel." Jon gritted his teeth but forced a smile that looked uglier than a crying face.
He had no choice but to accept reality since he took the deal.
Even if this was exactly what he did not want, he had no way out anyway.
"Cough, cough, cough…"
Fleur suddenly started hacking violently, and Jon turned to find her sweating all over her brow, heaving as her whole body shook uncontrollably. "Madam Lang? What's wrong?"
Jon was shocked to see what was happening to Fleur, whereas Yora merely cast her a brief glance and turned away nonchalantly. "It's just a cold." However, Fleur coughed even more violently right then.
She was clearly at her limit-her body temperature was alternating between extreme heat and cold, and she could feel a stabbing pain spreading throughout her organs. Even as she collapsed on the floor, she mustered all her strength to reach out to Yora. "Please… Help… Help me…"
Jon was left flabbergasted. "Madam Yimmel? What's happening to Madam Lang…?"
Yora simply shook her head and shoved a note into his hand, and said bluntly, "Get her into your car, and call this number-ask them to deliver Madam Lang's medicine. Remember, don't let anyone find out." swn And with those words, Yora and her entourage got into another car and left right away.
"O-Okay…"
Jon watched as she left, feeling the creeps even as he turned back and saw Fleur groaning in agony.
He more or less had the feeling that this was the matriarch's doing but decided to bring Fleur home anyway.
However, he had barely helped Fleur walk a few steps when she gasped. She was clearly struggling to breathe and collapsed on the floor, convulsing all over as she foamed from the mouth. "Madam Lang!"
Jon panicked, as he could see Fleur's breathing turn weaker by the second. Eventually, he gritted his teeth and decided to send her to the hospital for now.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1606-Fleur's vitals finally stabilized after the doctors operated on her, but things did not look well despite her survival. Jon quickly stopped one of the doctors after the surgery and asked, "Is she going to be alright?"
The doctor sighed. "Her condition is terrible, Mr. Lane. Most of her organs are failing given her old age, and…"
"And what?!"
Jon was very irritable just then.
Yora suddenly appointed him head of the Lane family and then left Fleur in his care.
It certainly went without saying that this was a test assigned by the matriarch, and Jon would be punished if Fleur died under his care.
The doctor continued just then, "It seems that the patient has been routinely consuming a certain substance. While it improves her health for periods of time, it's also highly addictive and accumulates in the body over time, building up toxicity."
After a moment of hesitation, the doctor shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lane, but there's really nothing we can do here."
"What?!" Jon bellowed. "Isn't this hospital the best in Zamri? Isn't there anything else you can do?!"
The doctor could only shake his head despite Jon's outburst. "Calm down, Mr. Lane… At this point, the patient's only option is to keep taking whatever she was taking before this. Even if it inevitably drives her to her death, it would at least keep her alive for some time. Deny her, and she wouldn't last five days."
"What…"
John was troubled even as he watched the doctor leave.
Then, remembering the note Yora gave him, he opened it to find a phone number.
"Damn it!"
Jon gritted his teeth in frustration.
He never wanted status or power and would not even entertain the thought of becoming the head of the family.
All he wanted was to live out his days as one of the Lane family's rich kids, but now he had no choice after getting caught in this feud for some reason.
Yora would blame him if Fleur died, and then…
"Jon…"
Fleur called out feebly from her ward just then.
Jon hurried inside to find that Fleur was awake, but she looked like she peat any moment.
swnovel Nheless, she rasped, "Go… get Baba Yaga."
Jon did a double-take-it was the first time he heard the name. "Baba Yaga?"
"Go!"
Fleur's fingers tightened around Jon's hand, her eyes flaring with the desire to survive.
"Alright, I'll make the call right now," Jon promised.
A proud smile showed on Fleur's lips, while Jon hurried off to the staircase to call the name on tol swno in note. "Hello?" An elderly woman's voice spoke from the other end.
"Hello, is this Baba Yaga? I need your… medicine."
Jon had no idea what medicine Fleur needed but had no choice other than to stick to Yora's script. Silence ensued before Baba Yaga said, "But I remember delivering a prescription earlier this week." "What?"
Jon was dumbstruck-if that was the case, why was Fleur in so much pain?
"Hehe… Hold that thought. I need to ask my men for some clarification."
The elderly woman giggled and hung up just then, but she called back after just a couple of minutes "Alright. Head over to Black Mist Bar down Hale Street. Wait at the bar, and someone will make the drop." Jon nodded. "Okay, got it."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1607-While Jon was really not bothered by the details, something occurred to him and he asked gingerly, "By the way, how much is the medicine?"
"How much…?
The elderly woman suddenly breathed a grating laugh that Jon had to hold his handset away from his ear.
And when she was done laughing, the elderly woman rasped, "It's a favor to an old friend. Money can wait."
And with that, she hung up.
"Huh…"
Jon shook his head exasperatedly as he put away his phone. "That's just freaky…' After he sighed and opened the staircase door, he found a familiar face leaning against the wall and smiling at him.
"Y-You're… Frank Lawrence?!"
Jon was shocked his voice quivered.
"Hehe. Long time no see, Jon…"
Frank strode over, clapping him on the shoulder, but suddenly narrowing his eyes. "Or is it Master Lane now?"
Hearing Frank say 'Master Lane' almost left Jon with a heart attack, and he promptly flashed an apologetic smile. "What are you saying, Mr. Lawrence? I have no intention to take over as family head… Even if I would, that's only because I've been forced to do so against my will!"
That was certainly true, as Frank knew Jon well enough.
The kid only ever seemed to spend time with the black hunting hounds he reared and was as unambitious as he was a hedonist.
While he certainly could see that Jon was being forced to replace Helen, he was also the key, and Frank had to assert his authority over the boy.
"Black Mist Bar down Hale Lane?"
Frank took the note from Jon and grinned. "Why don't I help you with that instead, Master Lane?"
"What? But…"
Jon panicked at the prospect of Frank doing anything, but Frank threw a friendly arm over his shoulder and smiled. "Right now, you will head back to Laneville and do everything Yora Yimmel tells you to… You'd rather not end up a puppet like Fleur Lang, who's now wishing she was dead, would you?" As Jon nodded repeatedly, Frank patted his shoulder, "Then be a good boy and listen to me. In just a couple of days, ora would be toppled again, and you wouldn't have to do anything but watch. If Yora asks, you just tell her that you send someone to get the medicine." "O-Okay."
Jon found Frank more reliable after considering his options.
After all, he had seen the depth of Frank's strength and knew that he'd be killed where he stood if he did not do as he was told. And if Frank failed, he could just shift the blame anyway.
Most importantly, he really did not want to end up like Fleur-a mere puppet doing Yora's bidding.
"Alright, now give me your suit." Frank held out his hand and put it on after Jon gave it to him.
With that, he took the note and watched as Jon left with a sneer.
He knew enough about Mildron Balm, that he had the only bottle within miles.
And earlier at Lanecorp, he could see that Fleur was barely keeping it together because she was denied her previous dosage.
། ē Frank certainly could tell that the hag would not last long without the Mildron Balm, and that she would contact Corpsedale again since she did not get her last dose. It went without saying who would be doing the delivery either-it was Borc Zomer, Sohil's son who was on the run.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1608-Knowing that he just had to wait for Borc to run straight into him, Frank quickly drove to Black Mist Bar down at Hale Lane. The place was exceedingly lively despite it being noon, the bustling crowds giving Frank the perfect cover.
He just had two drinks by the bar when he sensed a familiar presence approaching.
Naturally, it was none other than Borc, who was at once wary and annoyed.
He had already been told of his father's death and felt both immense hatred and terror toward Frank.
He wanted to leave town right away, only for Baba Yaga to assign him another task-to deliver Fleur Lang's Mildron Balm.
Borc almost snapped right then but he had no choice but to carry out his superior's orders, or things would end terribly for him.
Arriving at the appointed location as Baba Yaga had told him to, he immediately found the figure by the bar, wearing that silver suit with his back to him.
Borc did not hesitate to head over to the bar. There's plenty of people watching, and all he wanted was to get this final task done and leave Zamri.
However, when he clapped the person on the shoulder, the face he saw was one deeply etched into his memory.
"What a coincidence. You came to have a drink too?"
The man's faint smile left Borc's face contorted in fear and disbelief.
"You…"
Coming to a realization right then, Borc turned and tried to run, but Frank merely laughed and pointed with a finger.
There was an audible, horrible crack from Borc's kneecaps, and he lost his balance, collapsing on the floor. "Argh!!!"
Borc sweated buckets over his brow as he looked at his misshapen knee in disbelief, wheezing as he turned to Frank. "H-How could it be you?! You're supposed to be…" "What, are you that surprised?"
Frank chuckled in feigned shock. "What do you think is the fate of a pawn after it serves its purpose?"
"What…?"
Borc was left taken aback, but soon hung his head and murmured, "How… How could I be dumped just like that? It's—" "It's not impossible."
Frank finished his sentence, picking him up and taking him out of the noisy bar to the quiet alley behind.
"I'll be frank. You're not going to last another day, but…"
Frank smiled. "You can tell me where your boss is."
Seeing Borc's face pale, he leaned in to whisper into his ear, "If you do, I'll kill the one who betrayed you, and k could let you die painlessly… Naturally, you could refuse to sell เวน:
out your boss. Actually, I'd like you to choose that option, since it's my specialty to make people talk." With that, Frank shot a burst of pure vigor into Borc's body, which crashed around Borc's internal organs. "Would you spare me if I tell you?"
Even as he was sweating all over his brow in terror, Borc somehow still clung to his last hope of surviving. However, Frank was shaking his head and smiling, clearly denying him that.
"Shit!"
Knowing that death was inevitable, Borc clenched his knuckles, intent on struggling but unable to.
e Eventually he gritted his teeth and snapped, "Norsedam! Baba Yaga is in Lake Cove of Norsesdam. Where, specifically, I have no idea… Hell, no one knows!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1609-"Lake Cove, huh?"
Frank nodded in disappointment, but it made sense that a secret outfit like Corpsedale would maintain secret between hierarchies.
If anything, it was amazing that a pawn had a general idea of where his boss was.
"Go on, make it quick!"
Borc clenched his teeth just then, clearly ready to die.
"Oh, hahaha…" Frank suddenly laughed. "But I wasn't going to. There's someone else who's really interested in meeting you."
And as Borc looked on in shock, Frank struck him on the back of his head with the side of his palm, knocking him out.
Then, after feeding Borc a latent poison pill, he called for members of Lanecorp's health and safety department. He instructed them to take Borc to Jade Zahn, so she could have her revenge against her daughter's killer.
After dealing with Borc, Frank threw Jon's suit in a garbage can and called Helen. "Prepare a share transfer agreement."
"A share transfer agreement…?"
Helen was exceedingly surprised-she was being forced to leave Lanecorp, but she was now forced to give up her shares on top of that?!
Still, something was not quite right-Frank said that the agreement was to transfer her shares, not to liquidate it.
So Helen would transfer hers to someone else?
Before Helen could make sense of any of it, Gina was already snapping angrily from the other end, "What's that supposed to mean, Frank? Isn't it enough that Helen is removed as board chairwoman? Now you're telling her to give up her shares too? Don't you understand that she would really have nothing?!" "Mom."
Helen was calm in contrast, and after a moment of indecision, she said determinedly, "Frank must have his reasons for doing this. I'll get an agreement drafted right now."
"Wait."
Frank realized that they misunderstood and chuckled as he explained, "You're missing something here. I'm not asking Helen to transfer her shares to someone else—I'm asking someone to transfer their shares to Helen."
"What?" Gina was dumbstruck.
At the moment, Helen had a significant stake in Lanecorp shares, which solidified her place as Lanecorp's board chair.
However, that majority would only be maintained if she remained the head of the Lane family. After all, a large chunk belonged to her granduncle Mark Lane, followed by Fleur Lang, Gavin Lane, and others had their own stakes too. In contrast, it was Yora who had no shares, which in turn prevented her from meddling into Lanecorp's affairs. It was why she had given Helen three days for her to hand over Lanecorp-if she was actually the majority shareholder, she would definitely have asked Helen to leave on the spot instead.
At the moment, Mark held about thirty percent shares of the company, Helen had twenty, and Fleur's shares were around that too.
Hence, if Helen's shares surpassed Mark's, no one would have the authority to demand Helen's departure.
Frank was merely resolving the issue at its root.
"What are you up to, Frank?"
While Gina and Helen were left perplexed, Frank chuckled, not wanting to keep them on tenterhooks.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1610-Frank explained, "Once you have the share transfer agreement printed, go straight to Zamri Hospital. I'll have Fleur Lang transfer all the shares she owns that way, Lanecorp's majority shareholder will be Helen, and even Yora Yimmel would have no right to demand her departure."
"Eh?"
Gina did a double take but was soon delighted.
She really thought for a moment that her daughter would have to step down from Lanecorp's board chair, and that they had to return to humble little Riverton.
They certainly did not expect that they would have a way out in Fleur… To think that Frank could produce such a splendid idea so soon! However, Helen quickly snuffed out Gina's delight.
"Don't celebrate just yet, Mom," she told Gina and turned to Frank. "I don't think Madam Lang would happily hand her shares over to me." "Right…"
Gina flinched in realization-asking that hag for something like that was a pipe dream, no?
"Don't worry. I have an idea," Frank said confidently.
"Are you going to… force her?"
Helen frowned, finding such an option unacceptable.
How was that any different from daylight robbery?
Still, Frank shrugged. "Don't worry I won't do that. I'll get Fleur to willingly transfer her shares to you."
"Ah. Oh, okay…"
Gina sighed in relief too.
She was worried that Frank would get violent as well, in which case Yora and her cronies would come after them.
"I'll be waiting at Zamri Hospital," Frank said then and hung up.
While Gina was jubilant at Frank's ability to turn things around, Helen was frowning.
After all, she understood the many stakes involved.
As Mark's proxy, Yora would basically own the thirty percent shares of Lanecorp he had and could therefore demand Helen's departure.
On the other hand, if Helen were to receive Fleur's shares, her shareholding would hence reach forty percent. At that point, Yora would have no right to meddle with Lanecorp as Helen would be Lanecorp's majority shareholder-individually, without any ties to the rest of the Lane family. "Urgh…"
She exhaled lengthily, since she was really nervous-she had been working so hard for Lanecorp over the last few months and refused to let her effort fall into someone else's possession.
Moreover, there was the showbiz division led by Noel York and the plans she had for the company's future…
That was when Lily, Helen's personal secretary, arrived and handed her a document."Ms. Lane, I've printed the share transfer agreement." "Thanks." Helen nodded and slid the agreement into her briefcase.
As she pulled Gina along to leave, however, Lily suddenly stepped in front of her.
"Are you really leaving, as in leaving Lanecorp Ms. Lane?" she asked, a wistful look on her face. "Actually, we had an internal discussion earlier… If you're really leaving, we'll go wherever you go." As Helen's secretary, Lily had clearly seen how hard Helen worked, raking in so many partnerships and businesses for Lanecorp. No one in Lanecorp knew better than Lily how hard she worked. Helen felt warmth in her heart as Lily conveyed her true feelings, and she clapped Lily's shoulder assuringly. "Don't worry. There's no chance I'm leaving!"
