Ch. 1721..1730
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1721-Silverbell's meaning was clear-mess with Frank again, and Draco would find himself in the penance chamber too. "Urgh…"
Draco breathed a long sigh, as he knew that he could not protect his brother now.
Still, it worked for him, as Draco thought that being sent to the penance chamber was better than Silverbell killing Tigris on the spot.
After all, Tigris did not only mess with Frank Lawrence, the son of the Lord of the Southern woods, but he insulted the chief of the Martial Alliance as well.
Those crimes alone were enough for him to be killed a thousand times over.
On the other hand, even after Tigris would become crippled after being subjected to the torture in the penance chamber, he would at least be alive.
As for whether he stayed sane, that depended on Tigris' own mental fortitude.
Making up his mind, he waved his hand. "Take him."
"Yes, sir!"
Several jailers strode up, lifting Tigris along with the iron chair he was strapped to.
While they did, Tigris continued to struggle and beg Draco and Silverbell for mercy.
Naturally, it was pointless.
And after Tigris was taken away, Draco hurried inside the cell, rubbing his hands as he apologized to Frank. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Lawrence. There's been some misunderstanding before, but Lady Silverbell and I have cleared the air now, and she said it's… ahem, all in the past, right?"
Draco glanced at Silverbell, who nodded at Frank.
In reality, Frank and Draco had no quarrel… though technically one could argue that Draco could not move against Frank, not when he held his brother Tigris hostage.
As such, Draco had only insulted Frank at best, and Frank was not that petty-he knew when to hold back.
Moreover, from their call earlier, he knew that Silverbell was taking considerable risk by breaking him out of Blackwater.
In fact, he did not hesitate to put a friendly arm around Draco's shoulder, laughing cheerfully.
Draco was laughing with him, albeit exasperatedly.
It was certainly a bizarre sight for the inmates around them, as those two were just trading threats not few hours ago-Draco had threatened to kill Frank, while Frank had threatened to kill his brother.
swn And yet, they were now buddies who looked like they had not seen each other for years, at once cordial and intimate.
Was their earlier confrontation just an illusion? Hell, they were all watching as Frank took Tigris hostage!
It was not just Tigris himself-most of the inmates had taunted Frank, saying that he was asking for it.
Even Scarface Tucker, who stood at Frank's side from the start, strained to find his resolve, and mused to himself from time to time that he should free Tigris.
After all, Draco's authority as warden was unquestionable here in Blackwater. What good would it do for Frank to mess with the warden?
But to the shock of everyone, including the fettered geezer, Frank acted as if it was nothing of consequence.
Not only was the warden perfectly nice to him, but he even sacrificed his own brother by sending him to the penance chamber.
It was simply ridiculous, and every inmate was left in stunned silence.
To think the new kid was so important that the chief of the Martial Alliance would come et personally, all the way from Morhen just to bail him out. It certainly sent thejmaginations running wild!
swne "Ahem." Draco cleared his throat loudly just then. "After thorough investigation, we have concluded that Mr. Lawrence has been brought here to Blackwater on trumped-up charges. While we have never released any intimates, you are no criminal, and with the vouching of one of Draconia's top individuals, we will bend the rule this one time."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1722-"Ahem." Draco cleared his throat loudly just then. "After thorough investigation, we have concluded that Mr. Lawrence has been brought here to Blackwater on trumped-up charges. While we have never released any intimates, you are no criminal, and with the vouching of one of Draconia's top individuals, we will bend the rule this one time."
Then, leaning toward Frank, he whispered, "Please don't blame me for this. The whole thing was thought up by Droitner Inc. Also, try to keep a low profile after you get out."
"Ahem."
After that, Draco cleared his throat again. "You are now free to go, Mr. Lawrence."
"What…?"
"Oh, can't help it when he's such a big deal."
"Even Blackwater doesn't get to keep him. And, one of Draconia's top individuals? Don't tell me it's the president?"
While the inmates all had a feeling this might happen, they all still gasped when the warden announced that Frank could leave, turning toward him with looks of jealousy and envy.
Frank smiled and nodded at Draco in turn. "In that case, I must thank you, Mr. Warden."
"Oh, you don't have to…"
Draco smiled in return, but it was a pained smile-releasing Frank was basically breaking a taboo, and he would most definitely not get away with this if the higher-ups pressed the issue.
"Well then. We shall be leaving right away." Frank chuckled, flexing his limbs as he strode out of the cell.
"Who's 'we'…?"
Draco was left stumped but quickly realized who Frank meant when he turned toward Silverbell, laughing. "Oh! Well then, have a safe trip, Mr. Lawrence…"
That was when Frank looked elsewhere and said, "What are you spacing out for? We're leaving!"
Scarface Tucker, who had been staring at Frank enviously as he left, found Frank turning and staring at him, bemused.
"Wait, are you referring to me?" Scarface pointed at himself, bewildered.
"Him?!" Draco was stunned too.
"Yes, you." Frank stared at him, raising a brow. "Aren't you Terry Cotton's close friend? Well, I am too, so it's only right I take you with me, no?" "Yeah, but…"
Various expressions alternated over Scarface's face, and he eventually spaced out in confusion, unsure if he should follow Frank or refuse. Draco soon recovered, however, and hurried to stop Frank. "M-Mr. Lawrence… Absolutely not!"
"What?" Frank shoved him away in disdain, a stark contrast to when they were patting each other on the backs er. "I'm just taking that man with me. What's the problem?"
swr el.n Draco could cry right then, and he rasped, "I'm already breaking the rules by letting you out, Mr. Lawrence! If the grand commissioner finds out, l-I'll He mimed being slashed across the neck.
swn "How many heads do you have?" Frank suddenly asked.
It was certainly a bizarre question, leaving Draco stumped. "O-One? Why would you ask that, Mr. Lawrence?"
"You'll lose your head if you free one inmate anyway," Frank retorted in amusement. "What, is the grand commissioner going to grow you UMS another head just to chop it off?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1723-"Oh. Uh…."
Draco was left stumped by Frank's retort, but he soon shook his head repeatedly. "No, absolutely not! Mr. Lawrence, every inmate here is a depraved scumbag who has committed atrocities! If you let them out—"
"That's bullshit!" Scarface suddenly barked, seemingly finding courage out of nowhere. "I'm no scumbag! I'm only here because of my brothers!" Then, he turned, sneering at the two flunkies cowering and trembling down the hallway. "It's all because those two pricks refused to pay up after having fun with a lady at a karaoke bar. Heck, they were so drunk that they ended up massacring a dozen people. As their boss, I naturally had to settle the matter myself…"
"Oh, I get it."
Frank nodded and chuckled. "So because you tried to reach a settlement, you ended up here? That's just embarrassing."
Scarface was left rubbing his nose at Frank's diss and explained in embarrassment, "Well, I can't help it. The officer handling the case got a little harsh, so I beat him up. And then those two, seeing that I'm on their side, forced themselves on a woman as the officer watched.
"She was just a bumpkin from a village working part-time there, and they'd have killed her if I didn't stop them."
Frank nodded at Scarface's story-the man was loyal, if a little dull.
Naturally, Frank was also interested in Scarface's talent.
Even if he was unbelievably frail now, he was a martial artist-and a Birthright-ranked one at that, so it was a waste to leave him to rot here in Blackwater.
He could instead take Scarface with him and arrange a job for him at Lanecorp's health and safety department, so that he could help Lanecorp's development.
Frank was even more sure of his choice after hearing the bonehead's story of how he ended up in Blackwater too.
He would get Scarface out of here, even though the man tried to steal his clothes at first.
That was when Silverbell paused, finally noticing the geezer fettered with iron chains at a corner of the cell. "Wait, aren't you… Madfists?"
"Haha! I'm surprised someone remembers me…"
The geezer chuckled dryly and sighed wistfully. "However, I've long since abandoned that title. Right now 'm just an old man who's barely alive."
"No way!"
Silverbell strode up, exclaiming as she grasped the steel bars of the jail cell, "You were praised as a prodigy fifty years ago, born and often, but trained diligently in the way of The fists. After that, you and the friends you made along the way came together, founding the Martial Alliance.
"Though it was said that you've beaten five other Ascendant-ranked individuals at the same time all on your own, you were framed by a close friend and ended up in Blackwater… I didn't think that I'd see you here!"
Though Silverbell's every word was praiseful, the geezer flashed a pained smile and shook his head, though the pride in his face never faded.
"No wonder…"
Frank cast a look of surprise at the scrawny geezer, not expecting such a glorious past.
So that was why Simon Lionheart himself got involved, recapturing Madfist after his first escape.
It might be no exaggeration to say that only those of Simon's caliber could stop him.
The geezer then asked Silverbell, "You're the present chief of the Martial Alliance, yes? How are things these days…?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1724-Silverbell appeared embarrassed even as her fingers tightened around the steel bars, hanging her head as she murmured, "The Martial Alliance is no longer the informal outfit it was before, sir-we now answer directly to Caius Laine, the Mayor of Morhen. Even if we expanded over ten times in scale, with our influence reaching across Draconia, we're…"
"Hahaha! Isn't that a good thing?"
Madfist chuckled. "Kid, do you remember the oath I took up?"
Silverbell looked up in surprise, tears welling up in her eyes as she recounted, "This is the Martial Alliance. As guardians of peace in Draconia, humility is our honor, and chivalry is our code. May our enemies fall and our people rise above."
"Good, good…"
The old man smiled. "It seems this old man's oath is at least remembered. Good… Good…"
Frank stood outside the cell as well, having heard the exchange between Silverbell and Madfist, a wistful look showing in his eyes as he looked at Silverbell's lonely expression.
"Guardians of peace in Draconia, huh?" he murmured to himself.
It was embarrassing to mention it, but after subduing the Yimmels in Bralog, Frank had been staying in Cologne Court, training and resting-basically leading an easy life without a care for the rest of the world.
And while he was relaxing, Lady Silverbell, the chief of the Martial Alliance, was facing enemies of Draconia and protecting the citizens. Suddenly, Frank felt like he was doing too little.
Before he met Helen, he had no goal in life other than to avenge his mother and get back at his old man for making light of him.
But after meeting Helen, Vicky, and the others, Frank matured considerably and now wished to protect those who were close to him. But what about Silverbell?
He certainly had no idea what she had to go through over the years after he left Southdam.
Nheless, the once naive toddler. who used to follow him around was now the chief of the Martial Alliance, with plenty weighing down on her shoulders. Whenever they met, Silvebell always tried to maintain or replicate the time they had together when she followed Frank around, but Frank knew for a fact that she was s much more mature than he now.
was She was willing to sacrifice herself for his sake, her loyalty always staying with him, even when she was deceiving him for the spiritron vein.
In reality, she simply saw further ahead, and that left Frank feeling a weird bitterness and guilt at the bottom of his heart.
Turning, Frank flashed an earnest smile at Draco. "Mr. Warden… your name is Draco Fisher, I believe?"
"Y-Yes, Mr. Lawrence…"
Draco nodded but soon repeated, "I must urge you to give up, sir. Just letting you go is already very difficult…"
"I know, I know…"
Frank threw an arm around Draco's shoulder, friends once again. "I won't be taking one with me."
"Really? T-That's great! Thank you е for your understanding, Mr. Lawrence-I mean no disrespect, but really, you have to know how difficult it is from my position…" But while Draco was awash with gratitude, Frank's arm tightened around his neck and whispered into his ear, "You see, I'm taking two with me."
"What?!"
Draco's eyes widened, his face soon contorting like he had been constipated for years.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1725- "Where are we heading to now?" Silverbell asked, riding shotgun.
Frank was driving, feeling in a good mood just then. "Let's get the boys some proper clothes, or we're not going anywhere."
While Draco was absolutely reluctant to free Scarface and Madfist, Frank did not show from demonstrating that his fists could shatter the steel bars of a prison cell.
Then, with a smile, he offered Draco two choices.
One, Draco would keep his mouth shut and let all three of them go, with Frank's assurance that he would not return for reprisals.
The second, Frank would free every other inmate in Blackwater, allowing the hundred over vile criminals running rampant.
Even the Blackwater Designation could only get that many rearrested, while Frank moved on to the next prison, rinse and repeat.
He was just one among a hundred anyway, so no one might ask questions if he was gone.
On the other hand, Draco would be blamed for the mass prison escape.
And seeing that Frank was suggesting such a threatening 'choice', Draco was once again smiling, brothers with Frank again as he allowed Frank to leave freely with Scarface and Madfist.
That just proved that if someone was stopping you from opening a door, you just had to prove that you can tear the house, and they would be begging on their knees to open the door after, even flattering you for it.
Still, once Frank left Blackwater, Draco was screaming in his own office, threatening to destroy Droitner Inc.
If they had not bribed him and given him that 'anonymous' tip, he would never have moved against a demon like Frank!
At this point, he was just feeling grateful that Frank would leave Blackwater without demanding more.
To think that this prison, so infamous that it kept even the best martial artists on their toes, would find themselves playing host to such a class of criminal.
Still, it was likely that no one had ever expected it.
On the other hand, the other inmates et were yelling and demanding to be freed after seeing Scarface and Madfist leave with Frank. Many of them were certainly regretting not sucking up to Frank now and were mocking him instead. Who knew if he might really have brought them along.
Naturally, aside from those inmates who were regretting, there were others trying to use it as leverage.
As they threatened to leak the news that Draco allowed inmates to escape, Draco laughed despite himself. What year was it?! Were they really threatening his authority as warden?! This was really getting out of hand! "You vermin!" he bellowed. "Who's going to rat me out when none of you are getting out for the rest of your lives?!" It was only then that the inmates came to their senses.
Right, who could they rat to when they were not getting out? Tell the actual rats infesting this place?
In fact, if they would only get the chance to rat out Draco if he released them, he had even less reason to free them.
In the end even as those inmates begged and howled, Draco sent them to the penance chamber to join the other inmates whom Silverbell had castrated earlier. The inmates who regretted not licking Frank's boots when he arrived and tried to suck up to swnov warden instead were clecidal. However, what happened in Blackwater was no longer Frank's concern.
He was in the city, picking clothes for Scarface and Madfist.
At the moment, Scarface's black suit and shades only made him seem bigger than before.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1726-While Scarface looked just like one of those burly bodyguards one so often saw in movies, Madfist was dressed casually, with a green newsboy cap to hide his face.
While it made him look funny, the old man liked it and did not care about the weird looks thrown his way.
Earlier, they drew a lot of stares as they were striding into the mall, barely covered only in rags.
However, while Madfist strutted with his head held high and without a care, Scarface was cowering and blushing in embarrassment.
After getting themselves some suitable clothes and taking a bath at the hotel, they felt considerably recharged after eating a table full of food, leaving the waiters gaping.
Silverbell, who was having tea, asked respectfully, "So, what are your plans, sir?"
Madfist did a double take, only truly realizing then that he was free, and not fettered to his bones in Blackwater and subject to nightless tortures.
Still, he was not quite used to his sudden newfound freedom and spoke quietly after a brief silence. "Well… most of my friends were dead or hurt three years ago, and I might cause trouble if I go to them now. So…"
He trailed off, shaking his head. "Well, I have no plans."
"What about you?" Silverbell asked, turning toward Scarface, who did a double take.
Patting his round belly, he laughed. "You're such a joker, sis. Where can I go in my condition? I'm staying in Zamri."
Silverbell blushed and stayed silent-on their way out of Blackwater, Scarface had basically adopted Frank as his brother and Silverbell as his sister- in-law.
"Hehe."
Frank chuckled nearby, already prepared for this. "Well, since neither of you have anywhere to go, I just happened to lead an outfit called the Lanecorp Health and Safety Department. Why don't you join us?"
Turning toward Scarface, he added, "By the way, Terry Cotton and the rest of your boys are in the gang."
"Then, what else do I have to say?"
Scarface shrugged before frowning, "Well, I can join…but what's Lanecorp? And the health and safety department… Are you really having us be security guards?" Madfist turned toward Frank as well, but Frank simply chuckled. "No way! I guess Lanecorp is the company I'm supporting, and since both of you are martial artists, you'll be leading them. How about that?" "Sounds good."
Scarface laughed carefreely, finding a feeling he had once lost.
"What about you, sir?" Frank then asked Madfist.
Since Frank could not call him 'old man', Frank decided to use 'sir' just like Silverbell did.
"I'm fine, but the name of that outfit…"
Madfist was clearly unhappy with the name.
After all, the Lanecorp Health and Safety Department?
Anyone would think that it was an actual department of some random company.
"Pfft."
Both Silverbell and Frank chuckled when they saw the pout on Madfist's face.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1727-Old man and security guard-when both terms are mentioned together, people would immediately think of the elderly security officers, standing guard at hotels, apartments, malls, even parking lots.
And yet, Madfist as a security guard was not the average security guard, but one who could defeat thousands by himself.
Neither Frank nor Silverbell could hide a chuckle at the thought.
Scarface soon joined in, realizing what they were laughing about.
Only Madfist still drew a blank, a stark contrast to the other three.
Nheless, once Scarface and Madfist recovered their energy, Frank tended to their injuries, including Madfist's pierced shoulder blade and Scarface's facial scars.
After that, he sent someone to bring them uniforms for security officers of the Lanecorp Health and Safety Department. "Here's the suits for work." Scarface could cry right then. "So we really are security guards!"
Just a moment ago, he was a burly hunk in a suit, looking especially intimidating with his hades.
Now, he looked like some silly bumpkin who was unhappy with life as a farmer and came to the city to live on two grand per month.
However, Madfist looked even more ridiculous.
Once he put on his uniform, he was a hundred percent your typical elderly security guard. That impression was only further enforced with his slight hunch, since his shoulder blades had yet to recover after Frank applied his medicine.
Even Silverbell, who was always stoic and aloof, was left sprawled on the table laughing when she saw her predecessor in that getup.
While Scarface looked like a bonehead, he was laughing at Madfist too.
Frank was laughing as well, though it was because Scarface and Madfist looked exactly like a pair of doormen when they stood together. But that was also exactly what he wanted-they would be Lanecorp's surprise bouncers!
Who would dare challenge these two? And if they did, they would be subdued on the spot, so Frank did not have to worry about security at Lanecorp Tower and would have time for other matters. Still, the night passed quickly.
As morning arrived, Frank brought Scarface and Madfist along back to Riverton, ready to rescue Gavin Lane.
Silverbell excused herself in the night, leaving since there was plenty of work to do at the Martial Alliance.
After seeking her help at Blackwater, Frank also made up his mind to see the big picture.
And by sheer coincidence, Trevor Zurich called just before they elContent property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
headed to Riverton. "Mr. Lawrence, was just informed where the exchange with Gavin Lane's kidnapper would be. It's Silicon Karaoke Box in Riverton, and that płace has ties to the black market.
"Moreover, we've confirmed that the kidnapper was indeed Horey Lindt of Cloudnine Sect, just as you've suspected. I've tracked her whereabouts, and she was last spotted in Riverton."
"So it really is her." Frank nodded, but he furrowed his brow in confusion. "By the way, you said she was going to make an exchange with Helen? Did Helen actually get a Bloodcrane Spiritbloom?" "I'm not sure, but if she did, it would be from Huub Droitner. They met last night, where Huub gave her a curious wooden box-the box itself looked expensive."
Frank's brow creased further. "They met last night?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1728-"The meeting did not last more than five minutes," Trevor reported. "After that, Ms. Lane left the hotel and returned to Lanecorp Tower alone." Frank breathed a sigh of relief. "So when's the exchange?"
"Around noon."
"Understood. Thank you for your good work."
"You're always welcomed, sir."
After he hung up, Frank rubbed his chin and muttered to himself, "Does Droitner Inc. really have the resources to acquire a Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, or was Huub Droitner just lying?"
Despite everything, he still refused to believe that Droitner Inc. could acquire a Bloodcrane Spiritbloom. If it was that common, why would Frank's mentor entrust one to Yosil Darman of Kornac's Keep, who in turn kept it for over twenty years?
But if Droitner Inc. did not have a Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, why would Huub give that wooden box to Helen, who then agreed to Horey Lindt's demands?
What if Droitner Inc. actually had one, despite the odds being one in a million?
It was certainly hard to say, and would Frank not be the narrow-minded person here?
That said, Droitner Inc. was hardly reputable, and he had a bone to pick with them.
It hurts Frank to think, so he gave up on it he would know when he got there, so he drove at top speed straight to Riverton.
As he had only brought Scarface and Madfist, basically no one in Zamri knew he had sneaked away.
And since he arrived at Riverton with plenty of time to spare, he took his time settling Scarface and Madfist into their new roles and reexamined them medically.
As expected of a potential whom Frank took an interest in, Scarface was now much stronger compared to when Frank found him in Blackwater, although his facial scars were still clearly visible. In fact, he had already recovered his strength as a Birthright-ranked martial artist.
Meanwhile, apart from looking too much like your typical elderly security guard, Madfist was recovering well in every other aspect too.
While they were upset with their getup, Frank told them that beguiling their enemies and keeping a low profile was always the best.
And despite their grievance, considering that they were Blackwater fugitives and just might be hunted, they had no choice but to stick to the uniforms. Soon, it would be noon, the time when Helen would make the exchange with Horey.
Frank, Scarface and Madfist decided to stake out Silicon Karaoke Box early.
However, it was quiet as it was noon.
To avoid any attention that might scare off Horey, he sent Madfist and Scarface in through the front entrance and got a room, while he would sneak in from the back.
What he did not expect was that Scarface would almost start a fight with the security guards at the karaoke box.
After all, with his bodyguard outfit, el Scarface clearly did not look like he was rich. If anything, the suit only made him look even more brutish and dumb, which earned him considerable scorn at the door. No one even came to welcome him.
swnov Thankfully, Madfist proved more reliable when it mattered.
Standing between Scarface, he flashed an apologetic smile at the security guards and waitresses. "We're from a farm village, so everything in the city is new tool We're just here to check out how this karaoke thing works."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1729-"Tch."
The waitress in red rolled her eyes as soon as she heard Madfist's thick accent. "You'd have to pay at least five grand to get in here. Can you afford that?"
"Yes, yes!"
Madfist flashed an earnest smile as he whipped out a debit card from his pocket. "We've made big bucks this year, so we're even going to call up some pretties to join us!"
Naturally, the card was from Frank for this job, each containing over a hundred grand.
"Your turn."
Madfist nudged Scarface, who flushed in hesitation for a long time before groaning at Madfist, in the hip. "But Dad, if Mom finds out—"
"Hush," Madfist snapped, but he was clearly smiling because Scarface called him daddy. "Don't worry-that woman is still at home. She won't know a thing!"
The security guards were hiding a chuckle at Madfist's cheerfulness, and Scarface and Madfist were soon given a room.
Soon after they entered, Scarface wheeled on Madfist, flushed up to his neck as he bellowed, "Y-You were fucking taking advantage of me!" "Taking advantage? How?"
Madfist shrugged innocently. "You're no girlie, and you have neither the front nor the back."
"Grr…"
Scarface's teeth were gnashing, surprised that the seeminging down-to-earth geezer was a cunning fox!
And then there was the way he quickly put on an accent, taking everyone for a ride!
"Hell, you stand to gain if you become my kid." Madfist continued dissing Scarface with a grin, perfectly aware of what Scarface was grumpy about.
"I only have one father!" Scarface barked, glaring at Madfist and blunt as ever.
Madfist simply shrugged. "What's the harm in having another? Your mom wouldn't care."
Seeing that he was deliberately provoking, Scarface was at once incensed. "Are you trying to start some shit, geezer?!"
"I'm being serious here, boy."
Madfist narrowed his eyes. "Did you forget who taught you the rules on your first day in Blackwater? Just get down on your knees and call me daddy, and I'll teach you everything I know. How about that? It's a pretty good deal for being my kid, right?" "Fuck off! I don't give a shit!" Scarface snorted, waving him off. "Now, that's interesting."
Scarface's refusal left Madfist doing a double take, and he looked up, staring blankly at the elegant chandelier overhead, murmuring to himself, I refused so many suitors who wanted to be my wife, or even my godson. The tables have really turned now…" Scarface opened one eye as he heard Madfist's ramblings, frowning as he said, "No way… you don't have a wife or a kid?" Madfist chuckled, his expression soon turning grim. "I thought I had… Before Blackwater."
"Hmph. I see."
Scarface pursed his lips, having heard what Silverbell said about Madfist back in Blackwater.
He certainly still remembered the last part-that Madfist had been betrayed by someone close and ended up in Blackwater…
In all likelihood, Madfist must have been betrayed by someone he saw as his own child, and that left him with mixed feelings.
Suddenly he said, "Old man, listen eloet well—I'll call you daddy, but it's not like I'm after your martial techniques. It's just sympathy for a geezer."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1730-As Scarface finished, he paused for a long while before stammering, "D-Dad."
"Good boy."
Scarface wheeled on Madfist right then, only to find the geezer lounging on the couch, beaming so broadly that his wrinkles were smoothing out.
"Tch." Scarface clicked his tongue. "My father was a right bastard, gambling and getting into fights. He even killed my mother and sold me off for money to buy a couple of beers. You'd better not behave the same."
"Sure." Madfist nodded cheerfully.
"Hmph."
Scarface snorted but said nothing else.
Hence, they both sat in silence until Frank entered and sat on the couch between them.
"What? Why aren't either of you talking?" he asked, just as the waitress arrived with a fruit platter.
She appeared confused to see Frank. "You're…"
"Oh, you see…"
Frank paused before throwing out an excuse. "We're a family of three here to sing."
"Huh?"
The waitress was left confused as she glanced between Scarface and Madfist, clearly trying to make sense of this family.
Frank pointed between them right then, nonchalantly explaining, "Well, see… I'm his son, and he's his wife… Wait, I mean, boyfriend." "What?!"
Both the waitress and Scarface exclaimed at the same time, and the waitress was clasping a hand over her mouth as she glanced between Scarface and Madfist. "I-Isn't he his son? And don't they both come from a farming village?"
"Huh… Well, he's his son too, but also… Well, y'know."
ét While Frank was left confused too, he waved off the waitress. "Why are you asking so many questions? Bring us our drinks already" Once the waitress was finally gone Frank glanced between Scarface and Madfist in bemusement-they were suddenly father and son?
UMS n Nheless, Scarface was burying his face in his palms, feeling too ashamed to look anyone in the eye as he remembered the weird eye that the waitress gave him. He was on the verge of tears. "Brother… I mean, boss! Why the hell did you say that?!"
"Now they won't ask questions because it's awkward."
On the other hand, Madfist proved his experience, nodding in agreement with Frank's move as he read Frank's intentions.
Scarface peeked at Madfist through his fingers just then and groaned. "Well, what do I call you now? Darling?"
"Daddy works too." Madfist shrugged nonchalantly.
"Bleurgh—"
Scarface almost coughed up blood and decided against it right then, or his heart might give in right then. Unsurprisingly, Trevor was right, although he missed one thing, which was the room where the meeting would take place. After a while, Helen, Gina, and Huub arrived, escorted by security officers from Lanecorp's health and safety department. "Hey, did you know? The bumpkin father and son in Room 105 are actually not really father and son…"
"For real? Gosh…"
"That's outrageous!"
The waitresses behind the front desk were busy gossiping, each of them gaping and covering their mouths in disbelief.
