Ch. 1741..1750
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1741-"Huh?!"
Huub's accusation caught Frank off guard.
Both Helen and Gina were stunned for a moment, but they turned toward Frank too, and he frowned. "Still trying to bullshit your way out of this, and even trying to blame me for using a fake?"
"Frank!"
Gina strode up just then, glancing between Helen and Frank as she yelled, "I don't know if Mr. Droitner gave us a fake herb, but he at least had the sincerity to help us along the way! That alone makes him better than you!"
She paused before adding coolly, "Where were you and Helen and I are worried sick for her uncle? And now, you jump out of nowhere. It makes me wonder about your intention!"
Huub was certainly delighted with Gina's outburst, though he chuckled under his breath. "I knew it—she really is an idiot."
Then, turning toward Helen with a loving gaze, he said, "I don't know if my Bloodcrane Spiritbloom was messed with, but I swear that it's my family heirloom passed down from my great-great-great grandfather. I wouldn't have taken it out if not for you, but you're now accusing me of bringing a fake… it just hurts so much."
In reality, he was just quickly switching from direct aggression to passiveness, and it certainly proved useful as Helen was vulnerable to passive aggression.
She was at once guilty to see Huub's bleak, disappointed eyes-it was true that Huub had been helping her since yesterday. Moreover, someone so rich and important would not stoop to tricking her with a fake.
But if that was true, that meant that Frank had really switched the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom meant for the kidnapper in Room 10?
Helen was left in a dilemma right then-she knew that Frank was no thief, but she would not believe that Huub would deceive her either.
Seeing her hesitation, Gina hurried to Helen and whispered into her ear. "Oh, why are you hesitating?"
Helen realized with a start right then. "Okay, we'll check the cameras!"
"Oh, no…"
Frank's heart skipped a beat right then.
After all, he had indeed been hiding in Room 10.
Out of sheer curiosity, he had checked the box after Helen and the others left.
Moreover, he had taken the box away from the cameras, and based on the angle, it could easily be misinterpreted that he was really switching the contents. But at this point, Frank had no choice either.
He could only follow Helen and the others, who sought out the karaoke box manager, asking to check the security footage as they had dost something in the room. They had to argue for a while, but the karaoke box manager eventually nodded and brought the footage.
To no surprise, around five minutes u after Helen had the call with the kidnapper, Frank appeared and took the box away from the camera's view before putting it back.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1742-"Hahaha!!!"
Huub was at once nervous, but his knuckles eased triumphantly as he saw the footage.
Fortune was really on his side! He was just bullshiting, but by an unprecedented stroke of luck, Frank had just proven himself guilty!
Laughing coldly as he pointed at an impassive Frank, "See?! You're the one who switched out my treasure, and the kidnapper noticed that it wasn't real!"
"What else do you have to say now?! Let me guess you were already dead set on sacrificing Helen's uncle yesterday just to keep your Bloodcrane Spiritbloom even when Helen came to your doorstep asking you for it!
"But when she left with me, you heard that I had one too, so you wanted mine as well! So you got a fake one, found out where we were making the exchange with the kidnapper, hid here, and switched out my Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, even trying to frame me for it!
"You tried to catch the kidnapper directly to win Helen's favor anyway, and that sure was a fat lot of help! How cunning and heinous can you stoop, Frank?!"
Frank's eyes narrowed at Huub's seemingly righteous accusation, while both Helen and Gina were staring at him suspiciously.
They could not be blamed, however, as Huub's explanation made more sense.
Not only did Frank show up here unannounced, but he had allegedly failed to catch the kidnapper, and the exchange therefore ended up a failure.
In fact, it did not matter if Frank actually made the switch-there was no question that he had messed up Helen's attempts to trade with the kidnapper.
Gina was at once furious. "Frank Lawrence! You're really a cunning one-not only did you want to steal Huub's ancestral heirloom, but you're trying to take us for fools?! I'm honestly almost impressed!"
"How could you do this, Frank?"
Helen shook her head unhappily even as she let go of his hand. "There's nothing going on between me and Mr. Droitner-he's just trying to helpme save Uncle Gavin, even giving me his family heirloom You, on the other hand…" Helen sighed in disappointment and held out her palm at Frank. "Return the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom you took from Mr Droitner now. I get it-you're not giving up yours to save Uncle Gavin, but we need this one. You don't get to stop me… And don't you understand what you're doing? You're stealing! It's theft!" Frank just could not argue at Helen's look of disappointment, and he wheeled on Huub, who was subtly smirking.
Glaring at him, Frank snapped coldly, "Huub Droitner! You know very well that your Bloodcrane Spiritbloom is a fake! I'm not a dishonorable prick like you, and I will save Gavin Lane in my own way! And remember. This is yet another injustice you've dealt me!" "Frank Lawrence! Stop!"
Helen grabbed him, seeing that he was ready to leave. "I don't care what you have against Mr. Droitner, but you have to give his Bloodcrane Spiritbloom back right now! It's the only way we can save Uncle Gavin!"
Gina leapt up and grabbed Frank too. "Frank! If you'd really taken Mr. Droitner's Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, I don't mind dying here fighting you! I'll show everyone your true colors now!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1743-Gina leapt up and grabbed Frank too. "Frank! If you'd really taken Mr. Droitner's Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, I don't mind dying here fighting you! I'll show everyone your true colors now!"
Then, she started shouting at the top of her lungs in every direction. "Everyone, help! We caught a thief here. He stole Helen's stuff but refuses to admit it! He thinks he's above the law just because he can hold himself in a fight! He's bullying us…"
Frank only got further frustrated as bystanders around the karaoke box stopped to look.
"Enough!" he bellowed, unleashing a burst of vigor that knocked Gina and Helen away.
There was a look of guilt in his eyes when he saw Helen drop on the floor, but he soon scowled angrily. "Why can't you believe me, Helen? Am I a despicable thief in your eyes?!"
While Helen stayed limp on the floor in silence, Huub rushed to her side while pointing at Frank and snapping, "See? He can't defend himself, and that's why he's getting violent! Go on, do it! I'm not afraid of you-no one gets to trample on Droitner Inc.!"
Then, turning to Helen, he assured her, "Don't worry. As long as I'm around, that bastard doesn't get to lay a finger on you!"
"Frank Lawrence!"
On the other hand, Gina remained on the floor like a fishwife, pointing at Frank and snapping, "You're not just a thief who stole Mr. Droitner's treasure, but you even hurt me and my daughter! Even animals are better than you!"
Frank noticed the bystanders around them looking at him and shaking their heads in disapproval and felt his vein throbbing in his temples. "Do you not understand what I'm saying, Gina?! I stole nothing! Huub Droitner brought a fake in the first place!
That was when Helen, still on the floor, finally said, "Frank… Just go."
"Helen, I…"
"Just go!" she snapped, pointing at the door of the karaoke box entrance. "I don't want to see you!" "I…"
Frank knew that it was pointless to speak further, seeing the look of rage and misery in her eyes.
He gradually calmed down as well and nodded.
"Fine, I'll go."
Impassive, he strode toward the entrance, pausing at the doorway as he chuckled and sighed softly.
"In the end, nothing's really changed."
And with those words, Frank strode out of the karaoke box.
Helen said nothing as she remained on the floor, her hand over her mouth as large teardrops trickled down her cheeks.
Huub then comforted her. "Don't get upset over someone like him, Helen. Forget about him if you have vel to-let's worry about how to save your uncle for now." Helen nodded silently as she sobbed.
"Stay away from that heartless dog from now on, Helen. How unseemly-bleurgh!" Gina spat as she helped her to her feet and left the karaoke box together. Content Huub watched from behind as they went, his expression suddenly cool and savage as he beckoned at a goon.
"Come here," he said coolly. "Find out how Frank Lawrence got out of Blackwater. If he's a fugitive, pressure Draco Fisher to issue a Blackwater Designation rightaway."
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1744- "Yes, Mr. Droitner."
Having received his orders, Huub's goon turned to leave.
Huub smiled sinisterly in turn. "Hmph. Frank may have escaped Blackwater, but he probably doesn't know that it's not a place he can leave just because he wants to!"
While the chaos in Silicon Karaoke Box continued, two men-one elderly and the other relatively young, and both wearing security guard uniforms— left their room.
They crossed the street, subtly following a hooded figure in jeans who was keeping her head lowered.
Scarface leaned close toward Madfist and whispered, "How can you tell that she's the one, old man?"
"It's just my experience as a martial artist talking."
Madfist smiled. "Her pacing is wary, and she keeps looking around while trying to stay out of sight. The way I see it, she most definitely is the person Mr. Lawrence is looking for."
"Amazing… Well, do we call Mr. Lawrence now?"
"There's no rush. We can do that once we find her lair."
"Okay." Scarface nodded, put away his phone, and continued tailing the suspicious woman with Madfist.
The woman finally relaxed after taking multiple detours around the city and headed toward an abandoned building in the outskirts of West City. "Hmph. She finally messed up."
Scarface snorted, already impatient from running in circles, and he was ready to charge inside to punish the woman once they reached her lair. "Calm down," Madfist whispered as he put a hand on Scarface's shoulder, as would any seasoned veteran. "She's very cautious. If we strode inside, she'd quickly notice us and give us the slip."
Scarface hid behind a tree right then, but impatience showed all over his face. "Well, what should we do now?"
"Call Mr. Lawrence," Madfist said. "Tell him to bring more men, ideally surrounding the whole building. "Alright!"
Scarface promptly whipped out his phone to call Frank.
Frank was still feeling frustrated as he walked into a random bar for drinks.
"Hello?"
He answered Scarface's call, only remembering then that he had been so preoccupied with his argument with Helen that he had forgotten about Scarface and Madfist. "Right, you don't have to stay at the karaoke box My target gave me the slip, and I'm at Dynasty Bar now- Scarface stopped him before he could finish. Mr. Lawrence, we found that kidnapper's lair! She's in an abandoned office building outside West City. Bring as many people as you can-the old man and myself are keeping an eye outside, and we're worried that she might give us the slip." "What?! Well done!!!"
Frank sprang from his bar stool, all the gloom on his face fading as he almost laughed in excitement.
To think that the two security guards whom he had just enlisted had achieved such a major feat before he realized it!
Still, he soon realized that it must be thanks Madfist-the veteran marten l artist certainly had both the experience and ability. He now realized why Silverbell thought so highly of the old man.
"Wisdom truly comes with age!" He sighed, putting down his glass and taking a taxi straight to West City.
Still, he did not bring more men with him despite what Madfist said.
After all, he was convinced that between himself and Madfist, they would not allow Horey to escape!
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1745-When Frank arrived at the abandoned office building in West City, Frank immediately spotted Scarface and Madfist lurking outside.
Madfist was frowning slightly. "What, you didn't bring anyone?"
Frank patted his chest and chuckled confidently. "Don't worry. You just have to watch the exit-I'll slip in from the back. Horey Lindt isn't getting away now."
Madfist did not press the issue, seeing Frank's confidence.
"Shall we?"
On the other hand, Scarface was ready to charge inside, having gotten impatient from waiting.
Frank smiled but held up a hand to stop him. "Patience. You two just have to watch the exits-I'll deal with this myself."
"Wait, I'm still staying here?" Scarface scowled, scratching his head.
"Alright, don't mope so much. I'll buy you both nice cars once we're done here!"
Frank chuckled and disappeared in a whoosh.
The move left Madfist stunned it was not surprising why the brat was so confident, since he could walk the talk!
"Hey, you said it, not me!" Scarface exclaimed, trying to keep his voice down.
However, Frank was already gone.
Madfist then studied the exits, musing to himself for a while and pointing at a part of the wall around the building.
"You should watch that spot," he told Scarface.
"Why?" Scarface looked at him in turn, puzzled.
Madfist explained, "I have a hunch that our target is cunning enough to prepare alternative routes of escape, so I'll watch the front entrance, while you keep an eye on the side."
It was quite reasonable, and for the sake of a new car, Scarface strode over to the walls, rubbing his nose.
"Hmm."
Madfist nodded in approval as Scarface left some footprints as he walked.
Then, he lay sprawled on the ground, slowing his heart rate and silencing his breaths, waiting for the kidnapper to walk straight to him.
Whoosh!
Meanwhile, Frank was dashing at breakneck speeds.
He was at once frustrated and furious after Helen misblamed him, and all he wanted to do was to catch Horey and prove his innocence.
That was why he was not holding back at all he was pushing his Ascendant rank abilities to the limit, dashing along the wall and roof of the building as a black blur A normal person would presume that he was a gust of wind that had just breezed past them, and not a person. "Hmph. Imbeciles, all of them!"
Horey was glowering in one of the rooms in the building, her expression impassive as she lowered her hood. She stared fixedly at Gavin Lane, who was tied firmly to the wall.
Fwip!
Whipping out a knife from her boots, Horey strode up to Gavin, dropping to a crouch as she said coolly, "Did you know that Helen Lane set a trap for me, and with a fake Bloodcrane Spiritbloom on top of that?! What do you think is a fitting punishment for you?" Gavin, however, could not speak even as he stared at the sharp knife held just in front of his face.
He closed his eyes, resigning himself to his fate.
"Hah!" Horey laughed. "Did you think I'm just going to kill you? No… I'd have no hand to play without you, and I'm still counting on Frank Lawrence to give up the Blo et 1.n Spiritbloom. If anything, I guess I've been too kind before." Gritting her teeth, she slashed downward on Gavin's hand!
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1746-"Mmmph!!!"
Gavin's eyes widened as sweat trickled down his face and he wheezed-Horey had sliced off his little finger!
She then picked it up from the floor, holding it at her phone as she laughed. "Do you understand now, Helen Lane? If you're actually smart, you should be looking for Frank Lawrence and getting his Bloodcrane Spiritbloom for me. You thought some stupid rich family would actually have it?" "Stop…"
Helen could certainly see Gavin trembling and groaning over the video call, as well as his severed finger.
She turned pale as she cried, "J-Just calm down! Huub Droitner is going to find it from Frank's place! Just give me time-please stop hurting my uncle!"
Meanwhile, Frank was standing outside the window, and he could clearly hear Helen's desperate pleas from Horey's phone.
Naturally, that was not the point, as Helen had just said that Huub was going to find it from his place!
His heart grew cold.
Helen would actually allow Huub into Cologne Court to find something that was rightfully Frank's?!
He could already imagine what Huub would do once he reached Cologne Court, but fortunately, he would not leave something as precious as the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom there anyway.
The truth was that Frank had long since given Trevor Zurich the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom for safekeeping, and Huub would never find it even if he had a year to search Cologne Court.
Taking a deep breath to restrain the rage within, he charged a thick burst of pure vigor at his foot, and…
Clang!
He moved in a split second, crashing through the glass window as he dashed into the room at lightning speed. "W-What?!"
Horey only had time to turn when she heard the crash and found herself staring into a furious glare just a feet away. "Guk!"
Soon, she was seeing stars as Frank caught her by the neck with a vice-like grip, lifting her into the air.
"You had your chance, Horey Lindt!"
Horey was jolted to her senses at the furious growl. "Frank Lawrence?! H-How did you…"
"Frank?!"
In the distance, Gavin's eyes lit up in joy when he saw Frank suddenly show up.
"What?! Frank?! Are you there?!"
Helen was exclaiming from Horey's dropped phone, having clearly heard the commotion.
"Any last words?!" Frank growled, glaring coldly with barenaked swne el bloodlust at Horey, even as she struggled futilely against his vice-like grip. "Pfft… Hahahaha!!!"
l However, even as Horey bled from her lips, she laughed instead of panicking or despairing. "Did you think I didn't expect this, Frank Lawrence?! I'm telling you… I'm` much smarter than that bonehead Kairo Wal!" Frank then stiffened as he watched Horey reach inside her pocket, taking out a detonator with a blinking red indicator.
"Heh. I've put a lot of explosives 154 under his clothes," Horeyed as she laughed. "Go on, push this button, and we'll all die together!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1747-"Damn it."
Frank could not move when he saw Horey holding the detonator with a vice-like grip, as he also spied a red flash under Gavin's clothes.
He would not get hurt by the bomb, but if he pushed Horey too far and she pressed the detonator, Gavin would not survive.
"Stop, Frank!" Helen cried out anxiously from the phone Horey dropped. "Do you hear me?! Stop! You're going to kill Uncle Gavin! He has to stay safe, you hear me?!
It only got Frank irritated, and he snapped, "Shut up!"
And with that, silence ensued.
"Mmm… Mmmph!!!"
Gavin's eyes widened as he glanced between Frank and the dropped phone in disbelief.
He started to struggle against his restraints, only to tip over and fall on the floor. Even so, his eyes were fixed on Frank, as if to tell Frank to kill Horey -to eliminate the threat and not worry about him!
Frank certainly noticed, but he gritted his teeth and shook his head. "N-No. I can't do that."
His conscience would not be clear if he had to sacrifice Gavin, whom he and Helen owed so much to, just to kill a cockroach like Horey.
"Hahaha…"
Seeing them arguing, Horey started laughing again. "Oh, Frank! Aren't you a man? Honestly, getting tripped up over some woman? Go on, kill me! I don't want to live anyway-the child inside me won't live without the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, and it's pointless for me to stay alive otherwise! And I certainly don't dislike the idea of taking a few heads as I go down!"
Frank's fingers twitched around her neck even as she continued her maniacal ramblings, but he eventually closed his eyes. "I'll let you go. Leave the detonator."
"Hahaha…"
Horey looked skyward and roared with laughter as he gave in. "Master Noirot, Kairo Wal… Do you hear this? Are you witnessing this?! The man you think is so invincible, so unstoppable, has just given in to me because of a woman!" Eventually when she was done laughing, she looked at Frank, a sinister flicker almost visible in her eyes. "I'm never giving up on the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom… unless I'm dead!"
And with those words, she threw the detonator toward the open window.
Frank reacted in a split second, dashing over and catching it before it could fall.
However, that moment of delay was all Horey needed to jump out of the building, disappearing by the time Frank turned around. Frank clenched his knuckles, but he wasted no time in rushing over to free Gavin and taking off all the explosives placed on him.
But while he did, all the diodes that were red suddenly turned green.
"Shit!" Frank cursed-Horey must have had another detonator, which she had triggered when she reached safety!
"Frank!"
Gavin cried as he turned and saw in despair that Frank was sweating all over his brow, knowing then that time was up and he would die as the loud beeping became more rapid. "Shut up!"
Frank's hands moved even faster nheless, and he managed to remove all the explosives from Gavin as the beeping almost turned simultaneous.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1748-However, there was not even time for Frank to throw the explosives out.
His eyes narrowing coldly, he instead gathered all the explosives in his arms as Gavin looked on in shock.
"Argh!!!" he bellowed, just as the explosives detonated with a resounding crash.
Bang!
A tremendous ball of flame erupted from the top floor of the abandoned office building, followed by a towering dark mushroom cloud, a shocking sight under the moonlight.
"Hehe..."
Horey Lindt, who had leapt downstairs, laughed savagely as she looked up at the explosion and limped toward the front door, coughing blood as she did. "Bleurgh... That's what you get... for fucking with me, Frank Lawrence! I will get the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, one way or another..."
She had broken a leg, and her lung was pierced by a broken rib when she leapt down the building, and blood trickled out of her nostrils as she breathed.
"I can get to Helen Lane now that you're gone... the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom is mine anyway... Definitely..."
Her ramblings suddenly trailed off as she looked up at the front door.
There stood a dark figure, not exactly tall but wearing a security guard uniform.
He looked just like any other elderly security guard that one could find at any corner in Riverton.
And yet, when Horey saw the seemingly unassuming geezer, her pupils dilated and she froze.
"W-What are you doing here..." she murmured.
"Hehe. The world is really small, huh? Horey..." The elderly security guard stepped out from the shadows, allowing the moon to shine on his face.
It was none other than Madfist himself, and Horey stumbled backward in disbelief.
Her eyes were fixed, never blinking once as she stared at Madfist in confusion. "N-No, this is impossible. You were taken to Blackwater! How did you make it out?"
"It's all thanks to Mr. Lawrence's favor."
Madfist then sighed calmly. "It's been years, Horey. Don't you have anything to tell me?"
"I....... I......."
Horey tried but could only stutter, and she eventually flashed a miserable smile. "Father..."
"Don't call me that you're not my daughter." Madfist snorted. "You've always been smart ever since you were a child. I am at fault for not guiding you to the right path."
Looking downward, he asked calmly, "The child in your belly is that demon's, isn't it?"
"Yes..." Horey replied, hanging her head.
"Abort it. Then I will let you leave."
Horey looked up sharply right then. "You know that I don't have the potential to reach the Ascendant rank in this lifetime, Father, let alone Transcendent rank. This is my last chance..."
"You still refuse to understand."
Her words only left Madfist shaking his head. "How far do you think you can venture on this path of blasphemy? You'd only become yet another plague upon Draconia's soil. And did you really think that Cloudnine Sect, as important as they are, wouldn't be aware of what happened to you?"
"Hahaha..."
Horey laughed bitterly, and she slowly advanced on Madfist. "Father... You may have raised me
but I chose this path, and I will see it to the end even if it's blasphemous! So step aside, or I will make you!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1749-While the building in West City exploded, Huub was in Zamri, leading his bodyguards and raiding Cologne Court.
"Start looking!" he snapped. "Find the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom!"
"Yes, sir!" they replied at once.
Once inside, they threw all the food that Carol Zims had just cooked on the floor and smashed various antiques and expensive objects. Even the tea set Silverbell gave Frank was left in pieces.
"What are you doing?!"
Winter Lawrence had just come home from work and was having dinner with everyone when they were immediately seized by the bodyguards and shoved on the floor.
"Search her!" Huub barked, and they promptly groped all over Winter's body.
"Who are you people?!" Winter shrieked. "What do you think you're doing?!"
"Get off!"
A dainty figure leapt up just then, kicking the bodyguards and sending them flying.
It was Kat Yego, and she was pointing at Huub as she bellowed, "Are you crazy?! Messing up my mentor's house?! He will show you once he's back!" "The tea seat! It's Frank's favorite…"
Winter exclaimed and quickly tried to pick up the broken tea set, but a bodyguard pushed her out of the way.
"Ouch!" Winter gasped, as a bleeding slit was cut into her palm.
"W-What's going on here? What did Frank do to you?"
"Let's just talk about this… Please stop breaking everything."
Nash Yego and Carol came to their senses just then and were trembling even as they tried to reason with Huub. "Don't bother talking to them, Dad!"
Kat snapped angrily, blunt as ever as she sent flying two more oncoming bodyguards with a kick. "Call Heten. Ask her to send Terry Cotton and his men let's see what they can do then!" Huub was frowning since Kat was proving a difficult opponent, but he soon laughed coolly. "Hahaha! Helen Lane was the one who instructed me to come here and search for the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom! Frank Lawrence stole mine, so I'll take his as compensation!" "What?!"
Winter was the first who turned flustered when she heard that Frank had stolen something. She quickly exclaimed, "That's impossible! Frank is not like that!" Huub snorted. "Not like that? And you would know?! Helen Lane herself agreed that he stole it, and you're still siding with him? Don't make me laugh!"
"That's impossible!"
Winter was spacing out, her face turning pale. "Why would Frank steal from someone else? And Helen… She wouldn't let you raid this mansion…"
"Stop talking, Winter!"
Mona Fairfax, who had just left her room, was shocked by the scene and hurried over to stop Winter's bleeding.
Her face was ashen as she did, as she saw the food thrown all over the floor.
"Isn't that…?"
Nash spotted the bodyguards running straight to the garage, clearly targeting Frank's Bugatti Veyron.
He panicked-he knew how expensive the car was, and given how savage Huub and his men were, they would break the car too.
Running over to the Veyron, Nash shielded it while yelling, "Sir, you can search what you want, but stop breaking things! Everything here is precious!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1750-Running over to the Veyron, Nash shielded it while yelling, "Sir, you can search what you want, but stop breaking things! Everything here is precious!" Huub saw the red-black Veyron too, his expression turning cold from sheer jealousy right then.
"Wait, that gigolo has such a nice car?! Wreck it!" he barked, not caring about Nash's pleas and waving at his bodyguards.
"Stop!"
Nash cried even as he tried to stop the bodyguards swarming and wrecking the Veyron, only to get beaten up as well. "Dad!"
Kat went mad when she saw Nash coughing blood and kicked a bodyguard out of the way as she leapt toward Huub.
However, with him being the heir to Droitner Inc, Huub's goons were martial elites.
As one of them suddenly appeared in front of Huub, he kicked Kat squarely in the stomach.
She was a vigor wielder, but she was really nothing against an Ascendant rank-the kick left her coughing blood and sent slamming into the wall, unconscious.
"Frank, please answer the phone…"
Seeing what had happened to Kat, Winter promptly dialed Frank's number.
However, the response was always that the recipient was not within the coverage area whenever she tried, leaving her in despair.
"Hyah!"
Mona leapt toward Huub as well, but she only lasted a couple of strikes before getting punched in the belly, coughing blood and dropping to the floor. "W-Why did things come to this…"
Carol was holding her daughter and cowering in a corner, watching as Huub's man started to set fire to everything.
They, along with the unconscious Kat and Mona, were all eventually taken hostage too.
And through it all, the security officers of Lanecorp's health and safety department never showed up.
Meanwhile, Helen called Huub after losing contact with Frank. "Did you find the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom?" "Nope…"
Huub was riding shotgun, watching Cologne Court burning down in the l distance nonchalantly. "But I got myself a few hostages. Don't worry as long as they're around, Frank Lawrence will hand over the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom." "What?!"
Helen was left stunned. "I told you not to hurt Winter and the others or to bother them—"
"I have no choice!"
Huub retorted as if wounded. "They were all snapping at me before I could say a word, and since we're facing a crisis, I did what I had to do.
You won't blame me, right? "Huub Droitner!"
Content Helen's voice was shaking, as she did not expect him to do something like this, and she became his accomplice on top of that!
She could even imagine the look on Frank's face when he found out.
Even as she heaved, she snapped, "I'm ordering you to release them right now!"
"Oh, but that won't do."
Huub chuckled. "Frank stole my Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, Helen. Surely I have to make him submit and return it, no? Don't worry, I won't do anything to my hostages-it's just fair I take back what's mine, no? And astong as he does, I promise he will have them back unscathed."
