The guard turned green and pale, seemingly petrified. A few minutes ago, he didn’t expect this average looking man, who looked like a hardcore fan, to be Daya’s lover.

“Sir, I was wrong to have judged you. I’m sorry, please forgive me…”

Alex interrupted him. “I’m not trying to force you to do anything. However, if you’re a man, you have to keep your word. So I hope you learned your lesson. The eyes are easily deceived. The person you insult may be someone who can make your life a living hell. You don’t have to eat the whole trash can. Just hug it till you get off work.”

Eating trash and hugging the trash can were very different punishments.

The guard let out a deep sigh of relief. He looked extremely grateful towards Alex as he picked up the trash can. “Thank you sir, thank you.”

Daya was smart as she was able to guess what had happened despite not knowing any of the details.

She glared at the bodyguard. “Remember to just do your job right. Don’t turn into someone else’s tool to hurt others. They might not even remember you after using you.”

Daya then proceeded to drag Alex inside.

Alex licked his lips. “Uhm… so today’s your birthday?”

Daya nodded.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner? I could’ve prepared a present for you.”

“If I told you that, it would feel like I’m forcing you to give me a present. I don’t want that.”

“Happy birthday then!”

“Thanks!”

Realizing that he had only given her a simple wish, Daya felt slightly disappointed. If it were to be anyone like Ellington, they’d probably ask her to wait and get her a present.

‘He could’ve given me something simple like a necklace or a bracelet…’

‘Just a small bouquet of flowers would do too!’

‘But he’s just so dense!’

‘Well, he is a married man after all.’

There were the others inside the filming studio, Daya’s manager, Bunty, her bodyguard, Autumn, her assistant, Missy, the cameraman and director.

Some of them were already acquainted with Alex.

Upon his arrival, they were reminded of what had happened on the cruise. Hence, Bunty and the others stood up and welcomed Alex with a big smile.

“Mr. Rockefeller!”

The director and cameraman were shocked. They thought, ‘Who is this powerful figure that Daya brought to the studio?’

‘He’s even able to earn the respect of a feisty manager like Bunty.’

Although they had not spent much time together, they knew just how Bunty was.

She was harsh and would nitpick on every single thing. She couldn’t care less about anyone else apart from Daya.

Hence, for her to be so respectful and nice towards this man must mean that he was an extremely powerful figure…

However, all they saw was an average-looking man, he didn’t look intimidating or powerful at all.

Alex nodded gently, not saying a word and sat down to review the films.

The director praised Daya. “Miss Stoermer had put in a lot of effort to film these Lush Cosmetics commercials. Not only did she come up with the whole script, she even filmed three different versions of it! I’ve never seen her film for any other company with such passion. You should thank her greatly.”

Alex turned his head to look at Daya. “Why did you have to put so much work into it? You just need to film one. I trust your abilities, one would have been absolutely perfect”

Daya blushed slightly. “I just wanted to.”

The director was in his early fifties, hence he had experience in reading people.

Looking at Daya’s reaction, his heart skipped.

‘Something is up!’

‘Looks like the goddess is in love with a mortal. This man is quite lucky.’

Alex reviewed all three and was satisfied with all of them, they were just perfect. Her beautiful looks were enough to strike the public’s hearts. Hence, any of these commercials would immediately gain them popularity as soon as they were broadcasted.

“As expected, all of them are perfect! It feels like a whole fantasy movie! I believe that Lush Cosmetics would be a hot cosmetics line soon, all because of you!” Alex said.

Daya smiled. “It’s pretty hot already. I heard that both Belle Blossom and City Salon had thousands of preorders for your products. These two beauty salons had probably received a total of 100 million dollars worth of membership fee lately!”

“You knew about it too?”

“Well, I’m a member of City Salon after all.”

As the spokesperson of Lush Cosmetics, Daya would no longer need to worry about not getting their products.

After reviewing, Alex sent the videos to his mother and called her to help decide on one.

In just a few minutes, Brittany replied on the other end of the phone. “These are amazing! Son, help me thank Daya. We would definitely broadcast all three at the same time.”

With this, everything was settled.

Alex smiled. “You heard her, my mom told me to thank you. Since it’s your birthday, would you like to grab some dinner together and celebrate?”

“I don’t mind.”

“Alright then, let’s go everyone. All of you must’ve had a long day at work. We’re heading to South Cali Dining now.”

Alex felt as if Thousand Miles Conglomerate was no different from his own backyard.

Since South Cali Dining was owned by Thousand Miles Conglomerate, Alex didn’t have to reserve a room beforehand. As soon as he showed his VIP card, the manager immediately came forth to lead them to the VIP private room.

Daya’s assistant, Missy, had prepared a cake and brought it along with her.

Although there weren’t a lot of people there, Daya was very satisfied to have celebrated her birthday in such a nice atmosphere.

At the same time, Ellington was in another private room in the same restaurant.

Just then, he received a call. “Ellington, I’ve found what you wanted. This guy isn’t anyone significant though, he’s just the son of William Rockefeller, the founder of Rockefeller Group. Why are you digging up information on him?”

“Is that all you’ve found?”

“He’s just a complete loser now. He used to be a rich heir back then, but he met his downfall as soon as his father died. He had been relying on his wife this whole while, he’s still unemployed too.”

“He’s married?”

“Yeah, his wife is one of the Assexes… The Assex family isn’t really any significant in California though, they’re just a middle class family.”

Ellington was fuming.

‘That b*tch Daya just had to choose a married loser over me! He’s literally a sugar baby and yet I couldn’t compare to such trash of all people?’

‘Is she blind?’

Suddenly, Ellington was able to think of a wicked idea. “Clinton, I need you to do something for me…”

After his dinner, Ellington decided to leave South Cali Dining. Just then, he noticed Daya and Alex in one of the otherprivate rooms as well. He hid by the side and tried listening in on their conversation.

“Alex, it’s my birthday but you didn’t even prepare a present for me. Aren’t you a little too stingy?” Daya was slightly tipsy from having some alcohol. Hence, she became bolder and spoke more straightforwardly.

“Weren’t you the one who said that you didn’t want any?”

“I’ve changed my mind.”

“What would you like then?”

“Accompany me as I sing. Play the piano for me. I want to sing a song with you.”

“Now? ‘Where would we find a piano here?”

“Let’s go to my place! No one’s going to be around today anyway.”

“Uhm… Alright then, I’ll drive you home.”

Alex then started the car and headed straight to her place.

Ellington was even more infuriated than before, he could feel flames burning within his chest.

He thought. ‘You b*tch! So that’s how hold you can be in private! Looks like you’re much more experienced than I thought you were. How dare you act all high and mighty in front of me then?’

Just then, he thought of a worse idea.

‘Let’s find Alex’s wife!’

In just minutes, Alex and Daya reached her villa. Alex had been here twice, but it was different this time. His mindset felt different.

After opening the door, Daya took off her high heels and walked into her living room barefooted. She threw her purse aside and twirled around at the same spot.

Her movements were light and swift.

“It feels good to be home!”

She turned around to look at Alex, noticing that he was hesitant. She waved at him and said, “Come in! Why are you standing at the door?”

“Uhm… I think… I should go home. I…”

He didn’t dare to go in. His eyebrows were twitching, as if something was bound to happen if he went in. However, before he could finish his sentence, Daya skipped over and dragged him inside. “Hey, how can you leave? What about my birthday present then?”

Alex smiled softly and took off his shoes as well. It would be impossible for him to reject her now.

He walked in nonchalantly and asked, “So which song do you want me to play? Is it the song from before again?”

Daya shook her head and grabbed his hand, guiding him to the piano.

Alex could feel that her fingers were long and slender, her skin was smooth and soft. Her hand gently wrapped around his. He didn’t know how to describe what he was feeling now.

This was getting dangerous!

He felt as if he was falling even deeper into an abyss. He knew that this would result in him falling into a pit, but there was a strong force pushing him to continue walking on this path, closer and closer to his demise.

Daya took out a music sheet. “This one.”

Alex took the sheet and read it. He realized the song was called ‘Six Eternities’.

He was curious and asked, “Daya, all of your songs always seem to be heavily based on past lives. It feels like you like adding the element of magical swordsmen in them too. Do you like movies like that?”

Daya smiled and shook her head. “I’ll tell you after we’re done playing the song, just keep reading it for now.”

“Alright then!”

At the same time, Ellington received a call. “Ellington, Daya and that punk had entered the villa. I can’t really tell what’s going on, but I used a telescope and saw them at the piano. They seem really intimate, Daya is holding that punk’s hand too.”

“F*ck! That goddamn b*tch!” Ellington was extremely annoyed, he had never held Daya’s hand before. Although he had starred in the same film as Daya before, the only time they’ve ever touched was when Daya was required to slap him across the face.

“Alright, contact that punk’s wife now.”

Dorothy was currently planning Assex Constructions future goals in her villa in Senna Port. Now that she’s in charge of everything, she was able to make revolutionary changes to Assex Constructions…

Back at the villa, Alex placed the music sheets aside and closed his eyes, pondering for a brief while. Placing his hands onto the piano keys, he started playing the song.

The beautiful yet melancholic melody filled the room. Daya started singing as well.

Their mental power merged perfectly once again.

“Years go by, seasons pass, our souls have wandered apart. As memories flash down the road to hell, love will return to our hearts. We may yearn, but don’t you cry. We’ll see each other at the end of time. I’m still reading, reading the past, trying to recall what would make us last. I hold our promise in my heart, where could you be, my lover from the past?”

Her singing was clear and sorrowful, echoing through the room.

Alex continued to play the piano as Daya sang. However, the two made eye contact throughout the whole song, connecting with each other with their minds.

Alex felt as if he had seen his past life. He had been waiting for his lover for an eternity. It was as if he could see a beautiful woman walking down to hell because she had waited too long for her lover.

After the song ended, tears streamed down both of their cheeks.

Daya walked over to him slowly and Alex stood up. The two embraced each other tightly as if they were lovers from their past lives.

A while later, the illusions from the mental power wore off.

Despite this, Alex didn’t push her away and asked, “I felt like I’ve actually seen the road to hell, is that what you were singing about? Did you compose this song yourself?”

Daya replied. “Yeah. Didn’t you ask me why I like singing about past lives?”

“Why..?”

“That’s because I have dreamt about it a lot since I was young. In the dream, I was waiting for a man in a quiet alley in South California, yet he didn’t show up! The things you saw must be what I dreamt of.”

“That’s actually quite interesting.”

“Don’t you think this is fate? You’re the only one who could feel my dreams. Do you think we’re lovers who have been separated in our past lives?”

Alex felt slightly awkward. “Well, it’s a dream, I’m not sure.”

Daya said, “I think you’re the person I’ve been looking for all this while.”

“But I’m married.”

“So this is what they call ‘right person wrong time’? Do I need to wait for our next life? But I’m not sure if I would be able to find you again. What do I do?”

This was too hard for Alex to answer.

Daya didn’t need him to respond. She cradled his face with both hands, still sobbing.

She said softly, “Kiss me!”

Closing her beautiful eyes, another few drops of tears streamed down her cheeks.

Just as he was about to kiss this woman in front of him without hesitation, the villa door flung open and a group of people barged in.

This snapped Alex and Daya back into reality.

“Who are you people? Who let you in?” Daya yelled coldly as she pushed Alex away, visibly upset.

Alex, on the other hand, realized that a woman was standing at the very back of the group. The color drained completely from his face.

That woman was his wife, Dorothy!

He rushed up to her. “Darling, I…”

Dorothy was expressionless. “Tell me, I’ll listen to what you have to say.”

Alex said, “What if I told you that nothing happened between us? Would you believe me?”

Dorothy didn’t say a word.

A man next to them kicked a used condom. “Who are you trying to fool? What is this then? Don’t tell me you guys were trying to make a balloon out of this.”

Dorothy lowered her head and took a look at the condom. Her face went pale and her whole body started trembling. Although she had never used this, she had definitely seen it. She even bought it secretly as one of their preparations.

Yet now…

The thing that she had been saving up, the thing that she had never used, was used by some other woman.

At that moment, she could feel her heart shattering within her chest. It was extremely painful, she felt as if she had been stabbed multiple times.

It hurt as much as the love for him.

“How could you do this to me?” She screamed loudly and ran off.

Alex couldn’t feel the pain on his cheek. His heart hurt even more. He didn’t have anything to defend himself from this slap.

Although he really didn’t do anything with Daya, he had to admit that he was infatuated with her. It felt extremely odd, hence there’s no doubt that his heart had cheated on her.

Seeing her run away, Alex had to chase after her.

‘It’s midnight, what if something bad happened to her?’

‘What if she bumped into some bad people?’

“Darling, don’t go! Wait!”

Watching Alex chase after Dorothy, Daya started panicking in the villa.

All her bodyguards were away, yet these people were here at her place, they clearly had bad intentions.

‘Would I be assaulted? If I really am going to be, I’d be on the headlines tomorrow…’

‘Superstar Daya committed suicide after being raped by a group of men in her own home!’

Her face was pale as she continued to stare at the group of people in front of her. There were three bulky men, along with the security guard in her area.

Daya figured that Dorothy was the one who called the security guard over for safety.

The guard was very nervous, he didn’t dare to say a word.

In reality, you’re just some homewrecker, trying to ruin someone’s marriage! Do you think stealing someone else’s husband is legal?”

Daya clenched her fists, she was angry and nervous. “That thing isn’t even mine! You’ve accused me of things I’ve never done! Who even are you?”

The man smiled. “That doesn’t matter. What matters is, we’re all men!”

The man then showed his true colours, smiling excitedly. He was one of the men that Ellington hired.

However, Daya was just too gorgeous.

He thought, ‘Since she’s no longer a virgin, I could satisfy myself just this once. Ellington wouldn’t notice anything when they send her to him… He can’t do anything as long as we don’t admit to it.’

“Brothers, you guys are familiar with the superstar Daya, right?

“Hey security guard, what do you say? If you want to join us, then come on. If not, I can knock you out so you can pretend that you had no idea what happened.”

The guard took a glance at Daya’s ethereal looks and beautiful body. Gulping down gently, he nodded.

Daya didn’t expect these people to be so cruel and inhumane, she wanted to escape.

To her demise, she was immediately surrounded, unable to run.

She started falling into the depths of despair, especially since Alex had left her to chase after his wife. She was extremely sad and upset.

Daya backed up to a wall, she closed her eyes as the man with a mole lunged towards her.

Just then, a strong wind brushed over her body. Her hair became a mess while feeling a slight stinging pain on her face.

What she thought would’ve happened, it didn’t.

She opened her eyes and noticed a tall figure in front of her. He was holding another woman over his shoulders, whereas his other hand had grabbed onto the man’s neck, lifting his entire body up.

He was Alex.

“Alex!” Daya felt relieved and hugged Alex from behind. “I knew you wouldn’t leave me!”

Alex came back because he figured that Daya might in fact be in danger. However, Dorothy wouldn’t listen to his explanations, she insisted on running off.

Unable to convince her, he poked on some of her pressure points to have her fall asleep. With this, he lifted her over his shoulders and rushed back to the villa.

He didn’t expect his assumptions to be true, Daya really was in danger.

At that moment, his thirst for blood rose up in his mind.

The man with a mole was lifted up and he couldn’t breathe properly. With a flushed red face, he said, “Quick, let me go, I… I can’t breathe. Please, please…”

Alex’s voice sounded like he came from hell. “Didn’t you say that you would die happy now? Tell me, who ordered you to do this?”

“No… No one!”

The man with a mole was still stubborn, he thought that Alex was just a mere bluff. Once he regained freedom from his grasp, he could take revenge easily. He was prepared to have Alex kneel before him. He wanted to hear him screaming in pain while he broke all four of his limbs, despite knowing no one would save him.

However, he had made an awfully wrong choice.

At the same time, his underlings were yelling, telling Alex to stop and let the man go.

Just then, Alex tightened his grip, causing the man’s neck to snap brutally as it let out a crack.

“Mh…” The man widened his eyes as his face was painted in another shade of red.

He couldn’t believe it. He didn’t want to accept his fate!

He was quite rich, he even had three mistresses. He knew that his life would be amazing, his future was bright. Yet all of this had come to a full stop at this very moment.

‘How dare you kill me?’

‘How dare you?’

He wanted to scream out loud, but he wouldn’t have a chance to do so anymore.

The underlings and the guard were shocked.

“Run!”

“Just run!” One of them yelled and dashed to the door.

However, Alex closed the door shut just by swinging his hand.

“What?” The underling shouted, he felt as if he was about to wet his pants.

‘What is this power?’

‘Is this man a human or a ghost?’

Seconds later, Alex grabbed the air in the underling’s direction.

The underling screamed as his body was flung backwards. His neck was now in Alex’s hand as well. Alex said coldly, “You said that you’d be able to rest in peace now, right?”

The underling struggled, shaking his head. “No, please don’t kill me. I don’t want to die…”

“You have to be a man of your word.”

Crack!

Another died.

The remaining two fell to the ground as their legs grew weak

One of them groveled before Alex, pleading for his life. “I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you who hired us! It was Ellington, Ellington ordered us to do this! Please let me go! Please!”

“Ellington?” Daya said in shock.

She really didn’t expect Ellington of all people to hire someone to assault her… This is exactly why one shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Ellington seemed like a gentleman, acting as if he was the warmest guy on earth. Despite this, he turned out to be such a cruel and evil person when he was away from the public eye.

‘Is he the devil?’

She hugged Alex tightly, her gorgeous, trembling body pressed onto his. She was extremely terrified of what might’ve happened.

‘If Alex didn’t come back to save me, what was waiting for me after getting kidnapped?’

‘It would be living hell. Even if I didn’t die, I would rather I did!’

“When you were trying to assault a woman like Daya, what were you even thinking? Why didn’t you think of letting her go then? It’s too late to beg for mercy now!” Alex shook his head gently.

With this, he slapped the underling on the top of his head and released a flow of Chi into his body, shattering his soul.

The guard was now the only one left, he was kneeling on the floor, trembling vigorously.

An upsetting stench came from his pants, he had wet himself.

Watching this guard, Alex shook his head gently again as he let out a deep sigh.

The guard immediately groveled to Alex’s feet. “Good sir, please, please let me go! I’m begging you! I didn’t do anything, I really didn’t!”

Alex continued to stare at him. “Do you know that every human has moral boundaries? You’re a security guard, yet you didn’t do anything when you knew that a tenant’s life was in danger. You even tried to join in. Tell me, don’t you deserve death more than anyone here?”

The guard froze in place, his face filled with terror.

“Rest in peace, you have friends on the road to hell.” Alex didn’t show any mercy.

After that, he placed a finger onto the guard’s forehead. At that moment, Alex could imagine just how much misery Daya would be in if he didn’t rush back. He could imagine just how heartless of a beast this guard would become as well.

He knew that death was the least brutal punishment this guard could receive.

“Are you alright?” Alex turned around and asked Daya.

Daya wiped her tears off. Noticing that Dorothy was still passed out, she flung herself into Alex’s arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

At a time like this, Alex didn’t have the heart to push her away. However, the three were in a very uncomfortable position right now.

A few minutes later, Daya calmed herself down and stared into his eyes. “If you didn’t come back, I would’ve been raped. I would have no choice but to choose death then. If that were to happen, would you still remember me?”

Alex replied, “Don’t overthink.”

Daya shook her head. “I’m not overthinking. I just feel like we really are the living embodiment of the saying ‘right person wrong time’.”

As she spoke, she unintentionally released a strong flow of mental power, filling the room.

Alex froze, he felt extremely heartbroken. It was as if he was losing the love of his life to death. He hugged Daya tightly and kissed her passionately on the lips.

After a long while, they parted.

Alex snapped back to reality. “Sorry, I couldn’t control myself.”

Daya was blushing as she shook her head. “I should be the one who’s apologizing. I didn’t expect Ellington to do this, he even got your wife involved… If this was a sin, I’d rather bear it on my own.”

Alex placed Dorothy down and took a glance at the corpses on the ground. “It’s fine, let’s not talk about this, we have to deal with these corpses first.”

He immediately called Anna.

Anna was Daya’s friend, hence she rushed over to deal with this as soon as she heard the news.

The two girls hugged each other tightly upon her arrival.

Anna said, “Daya, don’t you worry. How dare that bastard Ellington hire someone to assault you? I won’t let him get away with this, leave it to me!”

Anna then turned to Alex and asked, “What happened to your wife?”

Alex lied through his teeth. “Nothing really. She was just a little shocked so I let her sleep. So yeah, I should probably bring her home now. I’ll leave Miss Stoermer to you. Oh right! Happy birthday, Miss Stoermer. I have prepared a present for you, it’s placed on the piano.”

“I think you’d find it useful.”

After that, the two looked at each other’s eyes for a brief while, Alex then left with Dorothy in his arms.

Daya walked over to the piano and looked high and low, yet she couldn’t find any birthday present at all.

The only thing on the piano was the music sheets.

“This guy lied to me!”

Clenching her teeth, mixed emotions welled up in her chest.

Minutes later, she received a text from Alex. “The present is in the music sheets.”

Daya froze, she picked up the music sheets as Anna was busy dealing with the corpses. Flipping the pages, she realised that he had written some words in between the blank pages when she wasn’t paying attention.

It was a method to train her mental power.

An hour later, Dorothy woke up. She found herself lying in a car seat, covered with a jacket as soft music played on the car radio.

She rubbed her temples and noticed Alex next to her. All her memories flooded into her mind, hence she exploded on the spot.

“Rockefeller, how dare you knock me out?” She yelled, glaring at him as if her eyes were knives.

Alex said, “Darling, just now…”

She kept yelling. “Don’t call me ‘darling’. I don’t have a husband like you! My husband would never cheat on me! How could you? How could you do this to me?”

“I… Didn’t.” Alex’s voice became softer for some reason.

Smack!

Dorothy slapped him on the face. “You didn’t? Then do you dare to look me in the eye and speak up?”

“I really didn’t. I didn’t use that condom too, that guy framed me.”
