Douglas’s expression changed immediately as he stared at Alex with shock gracing his features.

Alex gave a faint smile. “What? Did I say something wrong?

Douglas shook his head, and asked in surprise. “Sir, how… How did you see through it?”

Alex pointed to the bracelet on his wrist. “That mystical tool isn’t too bad, it does help to offset some of the Yin energy. However, there is no way to remove all of it. So, Mr Hunter, you need to be careful. The burden on your body is pretty heavy. When the Yin energy seeps in deeper, it will reach a limit, and when that time comes, even the gods can’t save you.”

At that moment, thousands of expressions flitted across Douglas’s face. After a while, he asked with the utmost respect in histone. “Sir, are you a superior of the mystical people? Could you please save my daughter?”

After speaking, he fell to his knees with a thud in front of Alex. He looked both agitated but nervous and expectant at the same time

Alex waved his hands dismissively and Douglas was immediately lifted up by an unseen force, proving that Alex was a superior being of mystical power. Douglas’ s demeanor became even more respectful.

“Sir… If you could please save my daughter, my humble self will be willing to serve you wholeheartedly. ” Douglas pleaded once more through gritted teeth.

Alex seemed to be at loss for words and huffed out a laugh. “You’re not a beauty to behold, so why would I want you to wait on me? That’s enough, I was initially going to teach that high and mighty nephew of yours a lesson, but who would ‘ve thought that I’d meet someone as interesting as you. Whether or not I can save your daughter is not a conversation for the present. First, tell me about your family’s situation. Where did you get this Yin energy?”

Douglas can only hope to make it in time and save his daughter’s life.

He collected himself and started speaking. “This issue has a long history. It‘s best that I start explaining from my ancestry. Three generations ago, my ancestors were in the grave robbing business to put it nicely, we were tomb raiders…”

Alex nodded, this wasn’t surprising.

He had used his Third Eye and seen that the negative energy on his body had something to do with the dead. Soon after, Douglas told him the rest of his tale.

In this family, not only did Douglas pick up the habits of being a tomb raider, his daughter Susan did as well, and with exceptional skills and talent. In this family, almost everyone was in this line of occupation, Chad’s father was the same as well.

However, in the process of a grave raid a year ago, he’d unfortunately passed.

Douglas’ daughter also fell victim to a strange disease that would have done her in had a master not got to her in time. However, more than a year had passed and her life force had almost been drained.

The master had promised that he’d save his daughter before she passed but sadly it was all empty words.

Hearing this, Alex was shocked.

It seems that Susan had encountered some hostile being when she robbed that grave a year ago.

Alex nodded in understanding. “I got it. How about this, once I’ve assisted my friend celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday, I shall check on your daughter’s condition.”

Douglas was beyond happy and expressed his gratitude profusely.

Alex waved it off. “Collect your nephew and wait downstairs for me.”

“Yes sir!” Douglas replied in a hurry.

Back in Chloe’s house, everyone was still waiting anxiously.

In their eyes, Master Alex was the highest leader so when he wasn’t present, the birthday could not go on. The cake was still set on the table as Nicholas spoke up. “Cutting the cake shouldn’t be a problem as long as we leave Alex a slice.”

Chloe, however, refused to budge. During this time, Chloe had already introduced Nicholas to the family.

Her parents had no objections as long as her boyfriend wasn’t too old, had a decent job and wasn’t a hoodlum. Nicholas may look a bit chubby but his average looks were better than Chad’s, who was kneeling next to them. The ninety nine hundred thousand pearled necklace was displayed in front of them in an almost blinding beauty.

Chloe’s parents were thoroughly satisfied.

Nicholas introduced himself as the second generation of the demolition development in California. He owns several mansions back home that cost a fortune. And as if that wasn’t enough, he also received performance shares that probably cost millions or even billions in the future.

The chances of finding a son-in-law like this was one in a million. What more could her parents ask for?

Chad heard all this as he knelt next to them. His heart prickled with embarrassment when he remembered how he had shown off a necklace worth thirty-eight thousand and how he boasted about having a child for twenty thousand. Oh, how he wanted to find a hole to hide in.

Alex and Douglas finally came back.

Douglas immediately dragged Chad up and left, while Alex stayed behind to celebrate Chloe’s birthday with her family.

Alex had arrived in a rush so he hadn’t prepared any special presents. But after a bit of thought, he took out a blood energy pill, and smiled. “I didn’t really prepare much, so here, have this as your birthday present!”

This was Nicholas‘s time to shine.

Alex felt that if he stayed, he’d be trying to usurp the attention so after eating a slice of the cake, he left with a smile.

Nicholas had been his classmate and friend for many years, so Alex was happy to see that he is now a part of the Zea family with a successful life. Before he left, he congratulated Nicholas. “Chloe is a nice girl. Cherish her. And when you marry, I’ll give you a great gift.”

After leaving, Alex climbed into Douglas’s car but noticed that Chad was nowhere to be seen. It appears that Douglas had already told him to scram.

“Mr. Rockefeller, are we going to see my daughter now?” Douglas asked him cautiously.

“Let’s go!”

Susan had been at the Michigan State Hospital recently as her health continued to degrade with each passing day. For almost twenty hours a day, she remained passed out and unresponsive. When she finally awoke, she remained in a daze with her consciousness blinking in and out.

As Douglas drove on, he explained his daughter’s situation to Alex.

However, he received a call from the hospital before he arrived.

The call said that Susan’s condition was getting worse and her heart was rapidly failing, potentially stopping at any moment. They urged him to hurry to the hospital immediately.

Hearing this, Douglas’s heart raced with panic and anxiety. He stepped on the gas.

As he sped, he had a few near misses and ran the red light twice, he may not be able to keep his license after this.

At six thirty in the evening, he finally made it to the emergency room and found two doctors desperately trying to revive Susan who was already in critical condition.

Alex noticed that she was quite a beautiful woman close to thirty years old.

However, with her face pale white, she was barely breathing. Based on the figures on the monitor, Susan was already at death’s door. A young female doctor was giving her CPR furiously, but the situation seemed futile.

“I‘ll be taking over now!” Alex spoke up and placed his hands over the doctor’s to stop her.

“What?” The doctor snapped back as she looked at him, her fury clear on her face, “Who do you think you are? Move aside, don’t get in my way of saving someone.”

Alex shook his head. “You can‘t save her this way.”

The doctor stared at him in confusion, then she lashed out in anger. “Get out of there, who do you think you are? Do you really think you can bear the responsibility of preventing me from saving a patient?”

Alex nodded lightly. “I can take responsibility!”

Seeing the doctor’s expression as if she wanted to tear him apart, Alex could only beckon to Douglas, “Hey, clear everyone out!”

In addition to being an experienced tomb raider, Douglas was also a master in martial arts. Clearing out a room full of medical staff was no problem.

Alex glanced at her through her mask and saw that her glossy dark eyes were bubbling with fury and hostility. From the looks of it, she was probably around twenty something.

“If you can guarantee that you can save this patient, and sign the doctor’s guarantee form, I’ll leave right this second!” Alex’s gaze met hers in challenge.

“Are you kidding me? No form of medical treatment allows for a hundred percent guarantee, do you dare to sign it?”

“I’ll do!”

Douglas was already pushing the doctor away when Alex finished speaking.

As a father, he understood his daughter’s situation, and a normal doctor simply could not help her. The only reason she was laying in a hospital bed right now was because she was connected to an IV drip for necessary nutrients.

“Let go of me! You are being absurd! This is murder! You have no right to be a father!”

Douglas didn’t hesitate in his movements. After pushing her out, he snapped back in a harsh tone. “Dr. Larson, are you not aware of your own skills? My daughter has been lying here for over a month, and you’ve checked up on her a dozen times over. Did you find anything at all? To be honest with you, I have never had any hope of you rescuing my daughter. You are but a nurse to me.”

The words hurt, but she could not refute that fact.

At the same time, Alex was using spiritual energy to prolong Susan’s life force and using his Third Eye on her. What he saw shook him to the core.

The amount of Yin energy in her body was astounding, as if it belonged to a thousand year old corpse.

What was even more surprising him was that she was still alive. Normal humans would never be able to survive such an immense weight of Yin energy in them. They would have long died, or even turned into a demon. For someone who looked as frail as Susan, being alive was an unimaginable feat.

Alex suddenly stumbled upon a small amount of Yang energy in Susan’s body, like a lighthouse in the night. It was miniscule, but it was there. This small drop of Yang energy was giving Susan her last bit of life force.

Alex looked closer and found that the source of this energy was coming from a necklace around her neck. A single, shimmering golden deep sea pearl was attached to it.

Alex felt as if he was struck by lightning, his face full of disbelief. This pearl was almost strikingly similar to the pearl his father gave to Claire Assex on their first meeting.

All deep sea golden pearls look almost alike. But the blood sealed inside this one, along with a sealed spell, made all the difference.

Alex’s hand trembled as he grabbed the pearl and used his mental powers to peer inside it.

He found one word inside it, ‘Rockefeller’.

Blood marks were created using different runes, a form of a spell.

Alex could recognise the blood mark with his own blood!

The only difference was that the blood sealed inside was dull and weak with not much energy left in the spell. His thoughts raced.

‘This really is…a sign of my father!’

‘Susan Hunter knew my father?’

‘The master that Douglas talked about was my father?’

Douglas looked at Alex who had his daughter’s necklace in one hand as he stared off: into space. Just as he was about to remind him to do his job, his gaze fell upon the heart rate monitor and saw that it was slowly rising, the statistics slowly recovering.

‘What a relief, Master Alex truly is superior!’

Meanwhile, the medical staff out in the hallway had no idea what was happening so they had called security to rush into the room.

“Open the door, open the door!”

The sound of their batons was deafening. The door was about to be broken down.

Alex frowned. “Douglas, guard the door and do not let anyone in. I’m treating your daughter right now and it is crucial that no one bothers me during this time.”

Douglas nodded. “Yes, I understand. Rest assured, Master Alex, I will not let them in, not even over my dead body.”

He flung open the door and barged out. The two security personnel in front of the door were knocked down to the floor. “No one is to enter this room, or I’ll show no mercy!”

Douglas had the fighting skills of an Advanced-Royal rank warrior. His gaze was fierce as he stood with a determined stance. No one in the hospital dared to come near him.

But he didn’t feel like it was intimidating enough, so he pulled out his phone and called one of his subordinates. “Jackal, round up a hundred men and come to Michigan State Hospital now, it’s where my daughter is staying.”

The line went silent for a minute. “Boss, are we picking a fight?”

Douglas snapped. “Shut up and just come immediately.”

“Yes sir!”

The staff in the hospital were in shock.

‘Why would he round up a hundred men here?’

‘To ambush the hospital and claim it as theirs?’

Currently, Alex had one finger resting on his glabella, the space between his eyebrows, and another one on Susan’s. He was trying to absorb some of the Yin energy from her body. The unknown power he had was capable of absorbing any form of energy from the outside and using it as his own.

In a flash, the heavy weight of Yin energy was transferred into his body. It chilled him to the bone, and he shuddered from the cold but gritted his teeth and pressed on.

If this woman had anything to do with his father, he could not let her die under any circumstances.

“Again!”

At that moment, he wished that the holy pearl in his energy core could whisk away the majority of the Yin energy, but that didn’t happen. It seemed like the holy pearl had no interest in this type of Yin energy at all.

In the end, Alex used the Seven Needles of Exorcism to force large amounts of Yin energy into his own body. With that, Susan’s life was no longer in critical condition.

Twenty minutes later, Alex let out a heavy breath, flipping his essence, a layer of crystalized Yin on his face, and shattering it as it fell to the floor.

He looked at Susan, who had narrowly escaped death. Her heart rate had returned to normal.

At that moment, Susan started to stir from her sleep. She saw Alex through bleary eyes and said something that made Alex’s heart twist in confusion. “Wi-Will, is that you? You‘re finally here to see me again!”

‘Will?’

Alex suddenly felt his mind go numb as a worrisome thought popped into his head. His father’s name was William Rockefeller, and the pearl had his father’s blood in it. But she was calling him Will.

‘Did she mistake me for my father?’

From her tone of voice, their relationship didn’t seem to be just friends either.

‘Could she be a mistress his father had outside of the family?’

‘Even Mom had no idea?’

He started to feel sorry for his mother, Brittany, because Susan looked like a young, intelligent beauty despite being near death’s door moments ago.

Susan noticed that Alex stood there without speaking so she blinked and looked closer. “Oh, you… You’re not.. Sorry, I mistook you for someone else.”

After a pause, she asked. “Who are you?”

Her voice was unique throaty but soft, completely different from Angela Seay’s voice, which made Alex feel ill. Susan’s voice was pleasing and seductive to his ears.

Alex thought. ‘Damn, Mom has a strong competitor!’

‘If Dad hadn’t died, maybe he would have left the family for this woman!’

“My name is Alex Rockefeller!” He answered in a frosty tone.

“Rockefeller…” Susan’s expression changed again.

“This Will guy you were talking about, is his name William Rockefeller?” He demanded.

Susan gasped, a bewildered expression on her face.

Alex could see as clear as day that Susan Hunter and his father had a complicated relationship, or she would not have looked like this. But that’s all in the past now. His father has been dead for a year now. Even if he had mistresses, it wouldn’t make a difference anymore.

‘Thinking back, didn’t I sleep with Daya even after I was with Dorothy?’

‘Maybe Susan had some touching story with Dad.’

At that thought, the disgust in his soul vanished.

“That… Was given to you by William, right?” asked Alex as he pointed at the pearl.

Susan immediately wrapped her hand around the pearl, as if she was protecting it with her life. “You… Who are you exactly?”

“My name is Alex Rockefeller, so who do you think I am?” asked Alex sarcastically.

Susan struggled to sit up, though she felt better than she had in ages and her head wasn’t muddled or unconscious. Her heart didn’t feel pricks of pain either.

“Are you… William’s younger brother?”

Alex was stunned for a second as William’s face appeared in his memories.

William did look quite young, with well defined features and dark set eyes. He didn’t look like an aging forty or fifty year old man. Instead, he looked like a mature thirty year old youth. If they stood side by side, they would look like brothers instead of father and son.

Now a problem has appeared.

Susan Hunter didn’t know him, which means she didn’t know that William had a son named Alex.

‘Did Dad really hide his marriage from her and made her his mistress that way?’

‘My god, what a scumbag!’

His image of his father wavered in his mind as he felt some sort of deja vu… ‘If that was the case, does that mean he had multiple more mistresses out there?’

Alex made a split second decision to not reveal himself as William‘s son. It would be too awkward.

‘This could be, my… Stepmother?!’

“Ahem, you are quite bright.” Alex brushed his nose off handedly and said, “The Yin energy in your body was too much to bear. If I hadn’t arrived in time, you would be dead by now.”

Susan stared at Alex in quiet contemplation.

Then, she mumbled something as if she were in a dream. “You and your brother really look alike.”

‘Please, we’re talking about life and death right now, how can you think that I’m being obsessed with another man?’

After a pause, she asked softly, “Your brother, is he… Is he well? He said that he would come see me in June this year, but it’s almost October now. He’s late by four months.”

Alex was a little frazzled. A woman’s love was very deep!

He shook his head and said, “I’m sorry, he won’t be coming.”

“Why not?” Susan asked.

The moment she heard he was dead, she wanted to die on the spot.

Alex hurriedly pressed a palm on her body to suppress the Yin energy, and he quickly said, “I was wrong just now, William isn’t dead, he’s just missing. I’m also looking for him.”

When Susan heard this, she had hope to continue living once again. She took a deep breath, and color returned to her face,improving her complexion slightly as she said, “Missing? When did he go missing?”

Just as Alex was about to say something, a violent crash came from outside.

Through a small window, Alex was able to see the shadows of people appearing outside, and there were quite a few of them. He also saw that there were police among them, and he guessed that when he had Douglas prevent the people from the hospital from entering, they clashed and ended up attracting the police.

The situation was obvious: the patient was now alive and well. Douglas had also shown his gratitude towards Alex.

“You’re a doctor?” One police woman asked.

“Yes.”

“Do you have your qualification cert?”

“I don’t have it on me.”

“I would like to have a look at your ID card.”

Alex looked at the police woman, and felt like he was being singled out. He didn’t voice a single protest as he took out a black ID and handed it over.

The police woman was angry. She wanted his ID card, so why was be giving her his driver’s license? In the end, she flipped it open and was stunned. In the next second, her expression changed drastically and she saluted before handing back his credentials respectfully. The ID that he handed over was the one that Anna had given him previously.

It was his identity status in the Divine Constabulary. Sky had promoted him two levels up so his status was now equivalent to a captain of a soo-men platoon in Divine Constabulary.

“It’s just a misunderstanding. Let’s go!”

“Douglas, I asked you to chase people away, why did you bring so many people here? A hospital needs peace and quiet. Is this some fan gathering?”

Douglas didn’t dare make any further delays after he heard that as he dismissed his people immediately.

The small chaos ended like that.

Alex asked, “How did you know my brother?”
