Ch. 116..120: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 116-120
Chapter 116: Chapter 116 - Robin, I don’t feel well. I need you
Whatever it was, Sabrina did not want to ask. She did not want to involve her emotions. Sabrina has always had a flat stomach so that little protrusion meant everything to Robin.
It could go unnoticed to anyone because it was not so visible, especially when she wore her dress, but for him, who had feasted on her body like a beast before, it brought the understanding of a life growing inside of her.
As his hand moved around her belly, Sabrina did not like her body’s response and grabbed hold of his wrist whiles she retorted coldly,
"Enough."
Robin casually lowered his head and teased her a little, saying, "Should I say that you still enjoy my touch like before?"
Sabrina was grinding her teeth together, but with her trying to stop Robin from flirting with her, they both did not notice when Martin stood at the doorway.
Watching how intimate they were from a distance, his heart was greatly pained.
He had come to check on Sabrina, feeling that Robin must have gone to the office by now but was surprised to meet him here, having a wonderful time with Sabrina.
Martin was gnashing his teeth, and at the same time, a cloud of darkness covered his eyes before he turned around and left without anyone knowing that he was even there.
"You sure know how to flatter yourself, Robin, but you and I have lost every connection, and nothing about you attracts me anymore."
Robin withdrew his hand and covered her up. His mood suddenly turned gloomy. He knew how much he hurt her, but forcing himself into her life would not be enough to gain back the love he lost.
"I’m sorry. Let me dry your hair."
He went to pick up the dryer and plugged it while Sabrina sat on the only chair in the VIP ward. Robin had never dried her hair before, so she just wanted him to mess up so she could taunt him, but how wrong she was.
Robin took his time to dry her hair gently. When he finished, he picked her comb and combed it for her before bringing breakfast and setting it before her.
His actions amazed her, but it was too late for them to have any kind of effect on her.
While they ate, Robin asked her, "I know that I hurt you, but you are the one who asked for the divorce. Would it have been better if I did not grant it?"
Sabrina did not have an answer to his question, so she did not respond to it. Robin felt that he won since she did not respond and said,
"Then it means I did you well, and you should not hate me."
Sabrina’s anger reached its peak, and she snarled,
"Robin, if you had not granted the divorce, then you would have hated me because I would no longer have been the sweet woman who kept your home but the monster who ruined it. Every woman has a breaking point, and I’ve reached mine. I think you should leave."
She had already eaten to her fill, so she dropped her spoon, climbed her bed, and turned to her side. Tears were already wetting her pillow, and she wondered why she ever fell in love with the likes of Robin. Even after the divorce, she still felt suffocated and could not breathe properly, just by the way he became a nuisance in her life.
Robin felt guilty for ruining the perfect moment. Things were going well just a while ago, and he just had to bring up the issue of the divorce. What did he even want to achieve?
"I’m sorry, dear one. I don’t have the right to pass that kind of judgment. Please come back and eat for the sake of our growing baby, or I will be forced to feed you."
"Please don’t call me that, and I already ate enough."
Sabrina was forced to hide her tear-filled voice so he wouldn’t know that she was crying.
Robin chuckled and shook his head, recalling how Zayla used to call him darling, and he hated it so much.
Now he also wanted to call Sabrina a dear one, feeling her irritation close to what he felt for Zayla.
Now he wondered the reason why he felt that way about Zayla when he loved her because she saved his life.
"So, what are you working on today?" Robin asked her. He did not want his day with her to be wasted and tried to acquaint himself as much as he could. Sabrina was annoyed by his talkativeness.
When they were married, they hardly had a casual chat. It was only when he wanted her to cook for him or if she had to do something he needed.
His strange behavior made her wonder if this was the man she married before.
"Not much because they are supposed to be meetings. I already sent an email to my secretary to reschedule them for Monday."
Robin was impressed. She already made the necessary arrangements. Figuring that there was nothing more to talk about, he thought of a way to keep up with the conversation, asking,
"And Matilda’s party, are you attending?" He really hoped she would.
"She is my best friend, so I should."
Robin was excited, but before he could think of something else to keep up the conversation, his phone rang. Sabrina was relieved and closed her eyes.
Whereas Robin was dismayed by the rude interruption of the ringing of his phone, but when he saw it was Zayla, he felt it might be an emergency and excused himself from the ward.
"Zayla," Robin spoke as soon as he was a little away from the door to Sabrina’s ward, but his gaze was still focused on it as if he was afraid that somebody would sneak in.
"Robin, I don’t feel well. I need you."
Zayla responded from the end of the line. Robin panicked immediately and said, "I’m already at the hospital, so let the driver bring you. I’m waiting."
Chapter 117: Chapter 117 – Same blood group
Zayla tensed from her side of the line. She never expected Robin to ask the driver to come and pick her but to rather come himself like he did Sabrina. However, if she dared go to the hospital now, then Robin would find out there was nothing in her stomach.
She bit her bottom lip bitterly. Sabrina was out of Robin’s life but still had all of his attention. "No, Robin, what I mean to say is that I miss you," Zayla quickly changed her mind. She just wanted Robin out of the hospital but even that seemed impossible.
"I will be home tonight, Zayla," Robin said with a slight annoyance in his tone. He thought it was something important for which reason he had to rush out of Sabrina’s ward to answer it but now, she said it was nothing.
"I’m in your office and you aren’t here," Zayla accused him. It annoyed her that even after spending the night at the hospital with Sabrina, he still had not returned to the office when it was already mid-morning.
His stupid secretary also refused to allow her into the office with the excuse that Robin was not around so she had to wait at the reception like everyone else. Thinking that Robin was going to apologize, he rather said,
"You should inform me before coming over next time. I am a very busy man."
Zayla was hurt and recalling what her father said about the party, she felt to test and see if Robin indeed intended to go without her.
"Robin, do you have any plans for the weekend? Like Saturday evening?"
"Yes. I have a place to be with Daniel," Robin responded from his side of the line. He had to heed Cobby’s warning to not bring Zayla close to Sabrina, for which reason he made it so.
"Can I come?"
Zayla sounded pitiful but only incurred Robin’s annoyance. Whereas Zayla had indeed always been troublesome, wherever Sabrina was concerned.
"No. It’s not safe for a pregnant woman. You are three months away and should begin staying away from parties," Robin thought and said since he could not tell her directly that he did not want her there because of Sabrina.
"But it’s not a problem," Zayla countered, testing how far he would go to keep her from attending the party.
"It is for me. We shall talk more when I return and I want to have a feel of your bump so get ready, Zayla."
After having a feel of Sabrina’s little protrusion, Robin could not wait to feel that of Zayla’s too. Zayla was suddenly sweating on the phone and responded in a small voice, "okay."
When Robin went back to the ward, Sabrina was sleeping so he went back to working on his laptop.
Sabrina was not asleep but pretended to, just to avoid having any conversation with him. He received a few business calls and would reschedule them all. Robin was determined to not leave Sabrina’s side today.
Through her pretense, Sabrina fell asleep until Robin woke her up for lunch. "God, must I say that I’m jealous of how you could sleep so peacefully?"
Robin did not know that she had not slept as much as he thought since she was only pretending but Sabrina was not going to tell him.
"I guess it’s the life you choose for yourself. When you have a lot of women to deal with, you have more problems," she shrugged. Robin laughed bitterly. It was too late for him to correct his wrongs and due to Zayla, he also understood that he did not stand a chance with Sabrina.
"Sabrina, I hope one day, you will understand."
Sabrina chuckled but did not speak. After the meal, she decided to go for a walk so Robin went with her. He held her hand, in spite of her refusal whiles they walked around. Robin did not care that people were watching and he did not care if it appeared in the news but Sabrina was uncomfortable.
"Robin please leave my hand."
She tried to pull her hand away but Robin would only hold it tighter. She wished it was already night, so she’d be discharged. She did not want to be anywhere with this Robin. She was used to the indifferent Robin, who showed her no care.
"What if you fall or someone carries you away? It’s safer like this," Robin said, right before his warm hands wrapped safely against hers. Sabrina was gritting her teeth all through till she decided to end it.
"I think I will return to the ward."
Robin frowned, as his eyes dulled. It was painful for him when she kept pushing him away like this.
"No, lets walk like this for ten more minutes. I promise I won’t say a word."
His voice was pleading and since he said ten minutes, Sabrina did not refuse. They walked for ten minutes or so before returning to the ward.
As the evening approached, Sabrina’s excitement was evident, unlike Robin who looked lonely. When he went to take care of the bills and later returned to glance through the discharge form, he noticed Sabrina’s blood group on her test results and asked,
"You are AB negative?"
Sabrina froze slightly and asked sarcastically as if she did not Know, "why? Is there anything special about my blood group?"
Robin smiled but it was a shameful one. For three years, he did not even know his wife’s blood group.
"Yeah, it’s the same as mine. I thought Zayla was the only one who had it."
Sabrina raised her brows raised suspiciously but she soon acted normal. She knew that Zayla did not have an AB negative blood group but for what ever Robin had going on with Zayla, she did didn’t care anymore.
"Good for you. Devin would come and take me home."
Robin refused. He wanted to know where she was going to live since he would be going there during the weekends when she was not in the office. "I am taking you home. You just have to give me your address."
Chapter 118: Chapter 118 – Going to the mansion with Sabrina.
"I am taking you home. You just have to give me your address."
Sabrina was about to refuse again when a knock sounded behind the door. Robin already guessed it would be the night doctor since he had the discharge forms with him and let him in. They had to remove Sabrina’s intravenous cannula too.
"How are you, Sabrina?"
This was the first time Sabrina was seeing this doctor throughout the three days she spent there. Her doctor had ended her shift.
"I’m very well, Doctor. Is it time for me to get discharged?" She asked hopefully, and the doctor nodded his head,
"Yes. After he signs the discharge forms. But your next review will be in a week. I will remove your cannula now."
Sabrina was excited while Robin continued to read through the documents attached to the discharge form since it included Sabrina’s medical history. This time around, he did not want to miss out on anything important.
He also took note of the fact that they had to go for another review in a week and planned on adjusting his schedule to bring her himself.
"Sabrina!"
The door pushed open without a knock, and Lizzy yelled from the entrance while walking in with her father.
Devin and Matilda joined soon after from behind, and Sabrina could not help but notice the glow on Matilda’s face.
Also, Devin looked too happy. Was it because she was discharged? Sabrina kept thinking about the whole thing, which kept getting stranger and stranger to her.
Matilda walked around, hugged her tightly, and said,
"Brina, we are here to take you home."
Sabrina was lucky that the cannula was already out of her wrist and was replaced by a small plaster.
"Sabrina, I think you should stay at the mansion," her father said. He had enough maids to be at her beck and call and serve her meals timely.
Now that her pregnancy was growing, her father was concerned. Devin was doing a good job, but he was also running a company and could forget little things.
Whereas the maids were paid full-time and would even ensure that Sabrina carried both her breakfast and lunch to the office together.
Whereas Sabrina was worried about Matilda, feeling that the latter would not be comfortable if she was left alone with Devin.
"Dad, I can’t leave Matilda alone."
Robin was handling the discharge forms while the family chatted carelessly. He felt a little left out after signing it and being sure that he now had Sabrina’s health record in his mind like the back of his hands.
"I’ll come with you," Matilda suggested since Sabrina’s only worry was her, but somebody did not like that suggestion.
"No, you won’t," Devin quickly said, getting everyone’s attention. He was not nervous or anything when all eyes were pinned on him but rather had a proud and satisfied look.
"Devin, why can’t she come to the mansion?" His father smiled and asked while Robin let out a sly smile.
Devin did not want to keep his relationship with Matilda a secret anyway. He only thought to announce it at the right time, and now it seemed like the right time since the whole family was together except for one person.
"Dad, Lizzy, and Sabrina, Matilda is officially my girlfriend from now."
"What?" Sabrina was shocked, but Lizzy was relieved and went to hug Matilda whiles she whispered in her ears,
"You did it."
Cobby was surprised at how fast Devin acted upon his advice. He knew Devin would consider it but did not expect such a fast outcome.
"No, he confessed that he was in love with me," Matilda whispered back, and Lizzy stared at her brother and asked,
"Devin, how long have you been in love with her?"
Everyone gave their attention to hear his response as he lowered his head and replied, "From the moment I saw her about nine years ago."
Sabrina’s jaw was almost hitting the ground when Robin teased her, "Dear one, you look too shocked. Why don’t you tighten your cute lips first?"
Everyone was shocked by how he addressed Sabrina, and she felt her face heat up at the fact that he said so in front of her whole family.
Whereas no one spoke, and Sabrina clamped her mouth shut before she gritted her teeth and said to Robin,
"Don’t call me that."
Some people chuckled, and others giggled while Lizzy said, "The mansion is big enough. Let’s all go there because I have a surprise for Sabrina and Lizzy, and I have to deliver a dress too."
Her phone beeped at the same time she finished with her suggestion, but knowing she was going to deliver the dress to Daniel, Devin refused. Since Daniel was in love with his sister, he should shamelessly come and pick the dress for the so-called girlfriend he bought it for.
"You are not delivering any dress. Send someone," he said in an irritated tone. Lizzy sighed. At least she wanted to indeed go there and see if Daniel indeed had a girlfriend, so she insisted whiles checking the text message that dropped,
"It’s against work ethics, and he paid for it."
As she was talking, her eyes glazed over the message on her phone, and disappointment filled her heart. ’I went on a short business trip, so kindly bring the dress to the party. I will pick it from there.’
She smiled bitterly and said, "Change of plans. No need for the delivery. I will just take it to the party because the client is out on a business trip."
"Good," Devin said assuringly. This time, he intended to have a man-to-man talk with Daniel since he just confirmed he’d be at the party.
With everything going on, Robin felt neglected and was not one whose presence could be ignored just like that.
"If you are all going to the mansion, then I’m coming too. I want to see the environment since I will be visiting every morning and evening during weekends, but on weekdays, I will be at her office," he said in a domineering tone which meant he was not going to back down.
Chapter 119: Chapter 119 – Robin gets emotional
Sabrina was greatly annoyed, and so was Devin. The fact that Sabrina was carrying Robin’s child did not mean he had the right to be in their space.
Glaring at Robin, Devin remarked, "Don’t use pregnancy to worm your way into my sister’s life."
"I’m already in it, Devin. Live with it," Robin barked. He was tired of Devin’s all-righteous attitude. The guy could not even propose to a woman he loved if Robin had not incited Daniel to flirt with her a little.
"Well, my sister would never love you as she did. You had your chance," Devin taunted, and indeed, he hit a sore spot in Robin’s heart which caused him to fight back.
"Oh, is it just me or Martin? Isn’t it because you want him for your sister because he is your best friend?" Robin asked, daring him to refuse.
Since it was already an open secret, Devin could not refuse and said, "I won’t deny that Martin is a better option than you."
Robin smiled bitterly. Devin might love his sisters, but he was not as smart as Robin thought. "I hope you remember these words when you find out who he truly is, but for as long as your sister is carrying my child, I have to take care of her."
"She doesn’t need your care. Your presence only brings her pain," Devin revealed. Matilda felt bad for Robin, hoping that he does not give up on Sabrina.
Since Devin did not believe that Mara was alive, he would not be able to protect Sabrina from her.
Matilda realized that she still had not thanked Robin for his help in clearing her name and thought to find a way to do so at the party. Robin knew that Devin was right because Sabrina was never happy with his presence. She never smiled at him for once.
"And I’m working on changing that," he said solemnly, feeling that he was too strong on her and should perhaps soften a little.
Meanwhile, his resolve only turned out as a mockery to Devin. "Really? How is that even possible? How do you intend to do that? Can you send Zayla out of your life?"
Devin asked the hard questions, and all gazes pinned on Robin. He felt saddened and helpless to not be able to do the one thing that would make Sabrina happy.
"Zayla is carrying my child too. It’s the only reason we are together, but Sabrina would have me anytime she wants. She just has to mention it."
Devin let out a humorless chuckle, planning on how to torment Robin. Since he said he would be there, Devin decided to leave the responsibilities of taking care of Sabrina on his shoulders.
"Alright then. Let’s see how you take care of two pregnant women. Good luck."
No one spoke again, but Robin insisted that Sabrina would only ride with him when they drove to the mansion.
This time around, Devin did not stop him since he had already washed his hands off the matter.
Robin ensured that he got Sabrina everything she needed on their way, though she made it clear that she needed nothing.
It was only after they reached the mansion and he had seen Sabrina’s room that he agreed to leave. As Robin got to Sabrina’s father’s mansion, he was filled with so much regret to think that she only married him for his money.
Sabrina lacked nothing and never did any chores, whereas she slaved herself when she was in Robin’s villa.
Everything in the mansion left a bitter taste in Robin’s mouth, making him understand that it would take more than taking care of Sabrina to win her trust again.
"Robin, since we shall see you often, it would be good to familiarize yourself with everyone. Let’s start by having dinner together," Cobby suggested.
From the wisdom attached to his words, Robin would not be able to refuse the offer since he was not asking but making it a necessity for him to have dinner with them.
Sabrina thought about a few things while the family was having dinner in silence. Robin would be in her life whether she liked it or not, so he should feed her what she wanted to eat. There was no need to be shy about it since her pregnancy hormones demanded it.
"Robin, since you are partly a part of the family, I suggest that you take care of our dinner from now onwards. I would give our chef the evenings off without reducing his pay," she shrugged and spoke while eating her food.
Somehow, she did not get the satisfaction of this food like she did with the one Robin brought for breakfast and supper. Robin remembered that she had asked for the ingredients and steps, and he had given her the chef’s number.
Putting two and two together, he knew that she wanted the food prepared by the senior chef at the Crystal Hotel. Robin felt he had Martin to thank for that. It was after he bought the hotel to ruin their date that he discovered how talented the chef was when he delivered Robin’s lunch as a way of appreciation for the pay increase.
Robin was by then finding it hard to move on from Sabrina’s meals, and this chef performed wonders. He never thought that even Sabrina would like his food so much.
"It’s a deal. I will have him prepare and deliver anything you want to eat every day." Robin’s eyes lit up when he saw a small smile on her face.
"Robin, how is business?" Cobby asked him.
"Well, probably the only thing I’m good at because it keeps growing every minute, and I’m thinking of opening more companies under the group."
It was not a secret that Robin was the business youngest business guru of his time. Not even the old business foxes could outsmart him.
"Won’t it make you too busy?" Cobby asked with concern since Robin expressed interest in taking care of Sabrina.
"No. I give every company their CEO, and I meet with them once a month. I also allow them to operate independently."
Cobby’s eyes widened since most of these CEOs who did not own the company could turn out to be something else. "Are they competent enough?"
"Very. There are checks and balances," Robin explained without giving the details.
"Impressive. I wish your father was alive to see how far you’ve taken the company. It was just a single corporation when he was alive, but within a few years, you turned it into a group and became the president instead of the CEO."
Robin lowered his head sadly and countered,
"He would still be ashamed of me, and you know why."
Cobby did not agree. He saw the changes in Robin, unlike before, when he was very arrogant towards him and irresponsible toward Sabrina.
"At least you are being responsible, so he would still be very proud of you."
A tear dropped down Robin’s eyes, and he dropped his cutlery and quickly wiped the tears from his eyes. He could not understand the reason why Cobby was still so nice to him after all he did to Sabrina. It resurrected all the guilt buried inside of him.
"Thank you, Dad, I won’t forget your kindness, but I have to go now."
Cobby nodded his head, permitting him to leave. Robin was still the son of his best friend, so he could not treat him any less. The atmosphere turned awkward as Sabrina suddenly asked,
"So, Matilda, how long have you been in love with my brother?"
Chapter 120: Chapter 120 – Breakfast from Mr. Jewel.
"So, Matilda, how long have you been in love with my brother?" The question weighed so long on Sabrina’s mind; she finally found the courage to ask.
Matilda could not discern what was going on in Sabrina’s mind and felt guilty for never telling her before when Sabrina had been open about her relationship with Robin to her.
"It was during college but I did not want to nurse it because I was afraid that he didn’t feel the same," Matilda said truthfully. They had finished eating and the maids were clearing the table.
Sabrina was greatly disappointed, feeling that if Matilda had told her, she would have found ways of hinting it to Devin and Matilda would not have gone through the things she went through in the hands of the likes of Stanley.
"You should have told me. If you had done that, the two of you would have been together and you would have saved him from the likes of Lindsay," Sabrina turned it the other way, to Devin’s advantage.
"Who is Lindsay?" Cobby asked. He never recalled Devin being in a relationship with any girl.
"My ex-girlfriend," Devin answered truthfully. Cobby was surprised but did not dwell on it. He was just enjoying his time with his children, hoping to see his grandchildren very soon.
"I thought you would be upset," Matilda said to Sabrina, still feeling guilty, even though Sabrina did not look offended.
However, she spoke truthfully. "I’m so disappointed in you. We are best friends and yet you don’t know me as much as you think."
"I’m sorry," Matilda bit her lower lip and apologized. Sabrina shook her head, stood up, and went to hug Matilda from the back.
"No. I’m happy to have you permanently in my family so are you going to tell all this to your dad?" She asked after pulling away, while she took in Matilda’s facial expression.
"Yes, I figured we should all meet him before the party begins," Matilda stated her plans. They were already aware that Cobby was not going to attend. He was not a fan of parties, more like evening events. For weddings, yes, but that was all there was to it.
"Then I will make the arrangement," Devin said. He also wanted to meet Matilda’s father in a quiet atmosphere but did not intend to let Matilda know about it.
"That sounds like a good plan," Sabrina agreed and they all laughed before heading to their various rooms. This time, Matilda shared Devin’s room at the mansion since their relationship was now open to all.
At Robin’s penthouse
Robin felt empty and sad when he arrived at this penthouse. Cobby’s actions made him so guilty and he could not overcome it. He was so rude to that man before, thinking he befriended his father because of the business partnership.
Even when Cobby knew in detail that Robin treated Sabrina badly, he still treated him like a son. Robin instantly coveted the bond of the James family.
Having lost both parents and not having siblings, he felt lonely and wished to have more children in the future to make up for it.
As he opened the door and entered the house, he was eager to see Zayla, just to feel her bump. Perhaps that would take away the emptiness he was feeling.
"Zayla!" Robin called from downstairs but there was no response. He climbed upstairs and opened the door to her room.
There she was, sleeping like a baby. Robin grimaced. He already informed her of his coming but she went to bed without seeing him. If it was Sabrina, she would have waited for him. Then again, it might be because Zayla was pregnant but Robin quickly diffused that thought.
Zayla has been at home all day so she should have had enough rest by now. With a blend of disappointment and emptiness, he closed the door and went to his room, at the same time Zayla opened her eyes, her heart thumping wildly.
She was afraid that he’d come and touch her stomach even when she was sleeping. Nevertheless, she was still not relieved because she felt she only escaped tonight and did not know how long she would be able to keep it up.
This also meant that she would have to be avoiding Robin, which she did not want to do. Zayla felt her breathing heavy, as she thought of a way out of the situation.
The next day while Robin got ready for work, Zayla was still sleeping. He swallowed bitterly and went to Sabrina’s office.
Reaching there, a delivery girl brought flowers. Sabrina had not arrived and instantly, Robin knew the flowers were from Martin. He took the flowers from the girl and threw them in a bin, at the same time Sabrina arrived.
Seeing her flowers in the bin, her heart sank and her voice was shaky, almost shedding tears. She had grown accustomed to the flowers, expecting them every morning.
"Robin, are those my flowers?"
Robin was standing elegantly in front of her door in his black suit and white shirt. He wore a purple tie to compliment the whole thing. It was not his fault that heads kept turning in his direction. He was a deliciously handsome billionaire with a bad reputation concerning women.
However, he was working on changing that perception too. At least, he hasn’t fucked any woman continuously for one week so that was progress for someone who used to do it every day.
"They were to be delivered to you so yes."
"What are they doing in the bin?" Sabrina asked, going to withdraw the flowers since they still looked good and the bin was empty. Robin blocked her path to the dustbin and said,
"If you want flowers, I will bring you some, morning and evening, together with your food. How are you today?" He quickly changed the topic while opening the door for her to enter her office.
"I’m very well." Sabrina walked into her office and sat on her executive chair.
"You look well so I will see you in the evening," he said and left, as she got busy on her laptop. A few minutes later, there was a knock on her door and someone brought her a healthy breakfast.
"Miss James, this is from Mr. Jewel. Bon appetit."
