Ch. 136..140: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 136-140

Chapter 136: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 136 - You better don’t mess with my sister

Robin would have told Sabrina. Even if not openly because of Devin, then in private. But she was pregnant and it would not be right for her to have panic attacks in the fear of someone being after her life.

Robin had already made the mistake of hinting to her at the party to be careful and not eat anything.

His only ambition now was to clear that on her mind, so she wouldn’t live in fear. Behind her back, he would deal with her enemies.

"She won’t talk. It’s the reason why she ate the food and she looked fine when we let her go."

Anyone should be able to interpret Robin’s words to mean there was no poison as he perceived but not Devin.

"It means that somebody wants my sister dead. What if it’s that stupid girlfriend of yours," Devin said.

Robin was very annoyed by Devin’s presence and words but tried his best to endure it for Sabrina’s sake.

"Leave Zayla to me," Robin responded casually. He already had in mind to question Zayla as well since her actions were a bit suspicious. As such, he did not need Devin to remind him.

"Robin, is it Zayla? You are covering up for her," Sabrina accused him in a disappointed tone, Robin’s heart ached, but he still felt that he deserved everything that was happening to him.

If he had not been frequenting the club, he would not have gotten drunk that night and all these would not have happened.

The only good thing that came out of it was the child, for which reason he kept convincing himself that it was all for good and nothing was lost.

Still, he did not want Sabrina to be upset and said honestly to her, "Sabrina, if it’s Zayla, I would not think twice before putting her behind bars. Don’t worry about anything."

Sabrina doubted if Robin could put Zayla behind bars but did not voice it. Devin did not trust any word Robin spoke and said in a disenchanted tone,

"I should have taken care of the girl while you took care of Sabrina."

"How would you have prevented your sister from eating at the party in case there was something in the food?" Robin asked sarcastically. For anything involving Mara or Martin, Robin saw Devin as a fool and could never trust him with it.

Robin loved and trusted Daniel but should he hear a bad rumor about him, though he would not believe it, he would still investigate to prove to himself that he was right in trusting his best friend but Devin was a direct polar of Robin, for which reason they could not get along.

"Wait, did you get a hint?"

Devin caught the puzzle in Robin’s words and asked. He felt that Robin knew a lot of things but refused to tell him, which got him suspicious and angry.

Robin wanted to just be around Sabrina for a while but also realized that for as long as he stayed, Devin would not stop asking stupid questions. As such, he said,

"I will leave you to take care of your sister. I’m going to ask Zayla some questions because I warned her to not come to the party. I doubt it would be her anyway."

He did not want to make it obvious that he was avoiding Devin’s questions, thereby terming it that way but Devin was still on his throat with a new set of questions.

"If it’s not her, then who? Who else hates my sister except her?" Devin asked and even Daniel was annoyed, he dropped his cutlery and just stared at Devin.

Matilda saw the exchanges between Robin and Daniel, thereby concluding that indeed, there was more and Robin did not want to tell Devin.

She felt so sorry for Devin because whatever Robin was keeping from him must have been of great help to him somehow.

"Devin, I guess you should open your eyes wider and ask your best friend some questions about his family," Robin said in annoyance.

It was his way of giving Devin the chance to use his brain after seeing the determination in his eyes to get revenge on whoever attempted anything on Sabrina’s life but once again, he proved to be a brainwashed idiot.

"Martin has no family."

Robin was done. He was going to do this with Daniel’s help and that was all there was to it. Devin could go to hell for all he cared.

"So be it. Daniel, let’s go."

Robin was already up on his feet when he turned to Sabrina, smiled, and said, "Dear one, I will see you in the morning. Do you have any special requests for breakfast?"

Sabrina smiled at the sound of breakfast but since her stomach was already full, she did not have any cravings at the moment, thereby saying,

"I will call the chef to inform him in the morning."

Robin was glad she did not rebuke him again when he called her ’dear one,’ feeling that she was beginning to accept it.

"That is good. Matilda, Lizzy, good night."

"Good night, Robin," the two women chorused whiles Daniel said to Lizzy,

"Gorgeous Lizzy, I will call you."

Lizzy blushed and said, "Okay."

When she said okay, Daniel felt his heart tickle but did not want to disturb her sleep since he had a lot to do before going home and changed the mode of communication.

"I will text you tonight," Daniel winked and Lizzy smiled shyly, "I will be sleeping," she quickly regained herself and responded when Devin glared at her.

He was afraid that Lizzy was indeed falling for another playboy and that was not going down well with Devin.

He wanted to prove his father wrong that Daniel would not stand a chance with Lizzy but the girl was disappointing him. Robin was enough trouble so why should Daniel add to it?

"You better don’t mess with my sister," Devin warned seriously before turning to the ladies, "are you all ready to go?"

"Yes," they chorused before Matilda said, "Let’s say bye to Dad.

Chapter 137: Chapter 137- Ready to drag Zayla out of bed

After they went to bid the general goodbye, they all left the party while people were just getting started. They knew it was going to last until after midnight but they were no longer in the mood.

When they got to the mansion, Devin told his father everything that happened including his proposing to Lizzy. His father was very happy at his boldness and maturity. They agreed to meet the general after his return from the official trip.

Whereas when Devin spoke about the poison stuff, his father was worried and called Sabrina to his room. Sabrina was already feeling sleepy and ready for bed, thereby giving her father half her attention.

"Sabrina, your brother told me everything that happened."

"Yes, and I don’t know who," Sabrina yawned and responded. Cobby said seriously,

"Be careful around Martin. I think it’s his sister."

Sabrina remembered all the times she asked Martin about his family. His responses seemed genuine to her and she was beginning to feel that her father was afraid for nothing.

"Dad, he doesn’t have a sister. I even wanted to go to his house but now, Robin has warned him to not get close to me."

Cobby was disheartened that Sabrina had also begun to behave like her brother but at this moment, he was thanking Robin in his heart for protecting her secretly.

From all that Devin said, Cobby discerned that it was not the whole matter and Robin knew more.

"Sabrina, you have to be smart. Mara knows that if she is found to be alive, she would go to jail. Do you think she would make herself known to be alive?" Cobby asked seriously but Sabrina was yawing carelessly whiles she replied,

"Dad, I don’t doubt that she is alive but I don’t believe she has any relationship with Martin."

Cobby swallowed the rest of his words. Sabrina was far from help. "You look tired. You should rest well," he discharged her, not planning to have this conversation with her again.

After Sabrina left her father’s room, Cobby took the initiative to call Robin for some answers.

Robin was driving but answered the phone when he saw the familiar number which he had not called for a long time, though they had been in constant communication face to face.

The call seemed a bit distant to him as he connected it to his dashboard.

"Dad, are you feeling alright?" Robin was worried at the time that the old man was calling, wondering why he was not sleeping yet.

It was not as if his children were kids. They were all adults with a mind of their own.

"Yes, Robin. I hope you are too. I heard about what happened at the party. Was it Mara?" Cobby asked directly since he already talked about it with Robin before.

"Yes Dad, it’s Mara. We are working on getting her location and the general has promised me his men if we can track her," Robin said honestly. Cobby sighed with relief and said,

"Thank you very much. I was afraid you would be discouraged because of both Sabrina and Devin’s disbelief of her existence."

Robin chuckled and responded, "No. Even if no one believed me, I would track her down to prove to them that I was right."

Hearing Robin’s resolve, Cobby was even more relaxed, feeling like he had nothing to worry about.

"Thank you and have a good night."

"Goodnight, Dad," Robin responded and ended the call.

While Daniel left with Robin; he made a U-turn to install the camera in Sabrina’s office since he had most of his tools with him in his car.

Robin went to Zayla’s parents’ apartment. It was late but he could not allow the matter to rest since he was not sure that Zayla would return to the penthouse that night.

When he dialed her phone number, it was switched off so he continuously knocked on the door until her father could not take it anymore and came to open it.

"Robin, what are you doing here?" Zayla’s father, Ken, frowned and asked him. Robin frowned in return whiles saying,

"I have to speak to Zayla. Please wake her." He knew that the old man would say his daughter was sleeping, thereby deciding to take out that excuse and not be kept waiting.

However, Ken was still adamant in waking Zayla, since she already told him about Robin’s suspicion of her involvement in the incident at the party.

"Robin, you know that she’s pregnant," he pointed out but Robin was determined to get her ass out of bed to answer some questions that night. He had too many things on his mind and was sure that should he not get the answers he needed now, he might forget all about it when other issues popped up.

"Or, I will enter her room and carry her to the penthouse. She is supposed to be with me, not here," Robin threatened subtly but Ken saw a loophole and responded,

"But you have not married her."

Robin had no intention of marrying Zayla and was not going to lie to her father about it. "Whereas she is carrying my child so I still have the right to see the growth of my child, even in the belly."

Ken realized that his plans to get Robin to commit were failing, just as Zayla had said. The greatest thing they wanted was Robin’s commitment but he was not giving it as they expected.

"Robin, what are your plans for my daughter? I don’t like the way you are close to your ex-wife whilst keeping my daughter in your house without even properly engaging and announcing her to the world. She would have been somebody else’s wife if you had not kept her in your penthouse."

"Are we going to talk here?" Robin asked seriously, wondering why he was talking about a sensitive matter in the open when the air could easily carry news.

Kennedy Chance opened the door to let him in, realizing his mistake. Robin spoke as soon as the door shut and was not ready to sit.

"Since you want to know about my involvement with my ex-wife, then here it is. She is also pregnant with me so the same way I take care of Zayla, I need to take care of her too."

Ken was so shocked and afraid at afraid at how Robin proudly confessed it even when he knew he was speaking to him, Zayla’s father.

He began to sweat and that moved Robin so he asked again,

"Will you call Zayla for me or I should drag her ass out of the bed?"

Chapter 138: Chapter 138 – There are no diamonds in the villa

Ken could not protect Zayla at the moment but he figured he had to come up with a new plan.

"She is not comfortable with your being around Sabrina so you have to talk to her here."

He wanted Robin to promise that there was nothing between him and his ex-wife but again Robin’s response did not give him the satisfaction he wanted.

"No problem but she should not spend more than two days here. She has to return to the penthouse where I can take care of her," he ascertained, feeling that Ken was not doing a good job as a father since he was behaving just like his daughter.

"Let me get her," Ken said and went to Zayla’s room. She was sitting on the bed, hearing everything that happened.

"Pretend you are feeling sleepy and go and see him. Make sure you deny everything, do you understand?"

Zayla agreed to the terms and came out of the bedroom, where she sat directly on the couch "Robin, what are you doing here?" She said dazedly like she was seeing him for the first time in her life. Robin’s expression was rather cold,

"What were you doing at the party?"

"Ha," Zayla faked a yawn before saying sarcastically, "I came to surprise you but you were having a romantic moment with your ex-wife."

Robin did not care about the last part of the conversation, asking, "Zayla, did you give the waiter something to put in Sabrina’s food?"

Robin did not want her to know that he already had information. All he needed was her body’s reaction to the question he was going to ask.

Also, if Zayla indeed knew about Mara and was a tool for the latter, then Robin would be confirming the message he sent to Mara through the waitress that Sabrina indeed ate the poisoned food.

In all, if Zayla was involved and also targeting Sabrina’s life, then Robin was going to make her life a living hell after she gave birth to his child.

"Robin, why should I? I only came to see you. Why? Did anything happen to Sabrina? Did someone try to poison her?" Zayla asked seriously, pretending to care for Sabrina but Robin noticed something in asking her,

"I didn’t mention poison so how could you know?"

Zayla faked another yawn. "How will I know what I’m hearing when I’m feeling sleepy, I thought you mentioned poison. Is she alright? I don’t like her close to you but I’m not a killer, Robin. Is she alright?" Zayla asked again, wanting to know how things turned out.

Robin was not getting what he was looking for but figured he had to maintain his stand.

"I don’t know but she is home and I want you at the penthouse tomorrow."

"Tomorrow is Sunday," Zayla complained.

"It’s past midnight so I mean Monday," Robin ascertained, thinking of keeping a closer watch over Zayla.

At first, she lied about not knowing Sabrina, which was still pending. And then, she appeared at the party at the same time the waitress gave Sabrina the food.

Thinking she would stay at the party, she left before he could say jack. Using Sabrina as an excuse did not make sense to Robin since he already informed her that Sabrina would be there. For the man he was, he would not conclude his suspicions until he got valid proof.

"Okay. I will see you but you have to perform your manly responsibilities. I can’t live like a stick in your house. It would be better if I live with my father," Zayla said, interrupting his thought.

Imagining having anything sensual with Zayla put Robin on the edge. He just did not feel attracted to her.

"We shall talk about that when you get back," Robin said and left. Her father went to lock the door and said to Zayla,

"He is very proud that Sabrina is pregnant for him."

"I agree," Zayla responded, confirming that she already knew about it. Her father’s sudden smile got suspicious and before she asked, he said,

"Then that is good news."

"How?" Zayla scowled, not agreeing with her father this time around. He explained it to her,

"Let Sabrina give birth and we shall steal the newborn baby for you."

Zayla smiled at the idea. She no longer had to force herself on Robin but would be a good girl. Stealing Sabrina’s baby would be perfect because Robin would have no reason to be around her again and Zayla would have all his attention.

Also, she could run away with the child to force Robin to give her the villa. This was the master plan of all but, there was a problem.

"But Sabrina ate poison already."

Her father frowned knowingly, "Too bad but just in case she makes it and the baby survives too, don’t try anything against her until she gives birth, okay?"

Zayla almost agreed before detecting another flaw in their plan. "Okay, but my pregnancy is a month ahead of hers so how do we do that?"

Her father smiled, saying, "There are ways around these things. Let the time come and we will do what needs to be done. With that assurance, Zayla was very happy and thought about revealing a piece of information that would make her father happy as well,

"Dad, I got someone to break into Sabrina’s mansion to steal the diamonds. He will be at it tonight. I believe he is even there as we speak."

The brightness in her father’s eyes was an assurance to her that she had done the right thing. "I should have thought about it that way then you won’t need Robin in your life again."

Zayla was saddened at the thought and reminded him, "Dad, I love him." It was the reason she kept doing everything her father told her to do. She was not ready to lose Robin in the end.

"Forget love. Let me know what happens," her father said sternly, Zayla cowardly in fear.

The next day, Zayla waited eagerly for news from the armed robber she contracted. The man had informed her three hours ago that he sneaked into the mansion when the maids were cleaning.

Zayla used the money Mara gave her father as part payment and they promised him 10% of the diamonds as his final payment.

After the long wait, her phone began to ring and she quickly answered it. "How did it go?" Zayla asked eagerly.

"Ma’am, you have to pay for misleading me," the man said on the phone, Zayla’s excitement died instantly.

"What are you talking about?"

"There are no diamonds in the villa. I got beaten by the maids and only escaped miraculously before the police arrived. I’m in the hospital now and if you don’t pay up? I will confess everything to the police and the world."

Chapter 139: Chapter 139 - You foolish child

’There are no diamonds in the villa. I’m at the hospital now and if you don’t pay up? I will confess everything to the police and the world.’

Zayla filtered the most important part of the man’s verbal report about searching the villa. The solid words kept echoing in Zayla’s mind, she began to feel hot. At this moment, she was calculating her losses.

One is her father’s money which she stole to use as a part-payment when she felt that her father would not agree with the original plan.

Two, the diamonds were not found, which meant the money spent could not be recovered. A very great loss for so much money.

Three, the man was demanding more money which Zayla did not have. This had become an unforeseen debt.

Four, he was threatening to involve the police which meant that he would also be arrested for burglary so Zayla was not scared of that part but was scared of the last option.

Five, the man was going to expose everything to the world. That was blackmail.

Zayla’s mind could not find the solution to the problem she put herself in, all because of Sabrina. She hated Sabrina so much she was waiting for the news of her death, not caring anymore that she needed the baby in her womb.

The four among the five things were enough to make Zayla lose her mind. She had forgotten that the man was still on the phone until he voiced impatiently,

"Ma’am, you have 48 hours to pay up the balance or I will inform the press," the man said and hung up the call. He already knew that Zayla knew how to find him to pay up the money.

Zayla did not remember for how long she remained in that position until her father’s voice jolted her out of it.

"Zayla, have you heard from him?"

Ken was eager to lay hands on that diamond. If he did, he planned to forcefully take Zayla away.

Continuing to chase Robin after getting those diamonds would only land her in trouble. Ken knew that should he lay out his final plans, Zayla would not agree due to her love for Robin, and kept it from her.

His wife already left him for Florida and he had no intention to unite with her. She refused to help them with their plans and would not enjoy the benefit from it thereof.

Ken was not even planning to pay his business partners whose money he lost at the collapse of his company.

He was just planning to travel somewhere far away to start and enjoy his new life with his daughter and perhaps, find a good humble woman to have fun with but without the intention of getting married again.

Everything was well planned out.

Zayla could not keep the information to herself because of her father’s money involved. Sooner than later, he would find out and she would be in trouble, especially when she had to return to the penthouse tomorrow.

"Yes, but he said there are no diamonds."

Ken’s countenance sunk but his voice raised, "It’s there."

He was sure of it because Robin’s father could not have kept it anywhere else and he never saw those types of diamonds in the market.

They were rare and the most expensive of all. If Robin had it, his wealth would have tripled and if Sabrina had found it, she would have been richer than Robin.

With his careful innermost analysis, nothing could dissuade him of the fact that indeed, the diamonds were still in the villa and neither Sabrina nor Robin had found it.

"Where?" Zayla asked seriously, so she could send the thief to go and retrieve it but her father’s response was discouraging.

"I don’t know but it’s in the villa. The diamond could be anywhere and a few hours is not enough to search and find it. That is the reason why I wanted you to have the villa for yourself. It would give us the time to search for it ourselves," Ken explained.

Zayla felt hot in her stomach. She did not know how to reveal the second problem but somehow, she just had to. She did not have a choice.

"There is another problem."

Her father was already annoyed, not expecting a basket full of problems early in the morning, retorting in annoyance, "What is that?"

Zayla moved from the double seater couch she sat on to the single one to create a distance between her and her father before she revealed,

"I used your money to pay for the deposit and he is demanding his balance. I thought he would find the diamonds and we could make all the expenses from there."

"You what?" Ken’s expression darkened dangerously.

That was the money he expected to use for his daily upkeep until they made headway since Robin had become stingy towards him, only caring about Zayla and she what?

When her dad got close, she stood up and increased the distance before his hand could come into contact with any part of her body.

"I’m sorry Dad but he threatened to inform the press if I don’t top up his money."

"You, foolish child," Ken vented, not knowing whether a part of his daughter’s brain was destroyed before she came out of her mother’s womb.

None of their plans succeeded so far and she was causing him more troubles. "How could you do such a thing without informing me first?"

"I wanted to surprise you but I’m sorry. I am," Zayla had tears in her eyes while trying to explain the situation to him.

Ken sank into the chair. His daughter still had Robin and he was rich. They had to find a way to get the money from him since it was his fault. All this would not have happened if he had just given the villa to Zayla instead of Sabrina.

"What do we do now?" He asked Zayla, expecting her to think of a way to extort money from Robin but she looked at him cluelessly,

"I don’t know Dad, I don’t know."

Ken smiled a little. It was too early to suggest it to her.

"First of all, buy more time while we think of a way."

Zayla agreed, feeling relieved that her father had calmed down, and called the thief again on the phone, saying,

"I will pay you the balance in two weeks."

"No. Two weeks is too much. Do you know how battered I am?" The man complained painfully from the end of the line.

Walking was even a problem for him because of how ruthless those maids were.

"Alright. Give me a week to pay your money," Zayla said with resolve but the Thief warned her sternly,

"If you add a day to it, I will sell the story to the press, get my money, and run away."

Zayla was gritting her teeth when she hung up the phone. The thief already planned a way to destroy her if he did not get the money.

Chapter 140: Chapter 140 – understanding the playboy’s mind

A week later

Daniel arrived at Cobby’s mansion, ten minutes before time. When he knocked on the door and asked to see Lizzy, one of the maids went to call her.

Daniel had been able to set the camera in Sabrina’s office so Robin was happy and he was also free to pursue his interest.

After the party, things have been calm with Robin seeing Sabrina every morning and evening. He knew that by now, Mara would have known that Sabrina was alive and they were still working on tracking her notorious hacker.

Robin added it to his responsibility to carry a bouquet of fresh roses along every morning when he went to see Sabrina. Sometimes, he would add gifts and they now had a causal relationship.

Very soon, he would arrive to check on Sabrina so Daniel wanted to leave before he got there, so he doesn’t suddenly give him a job.

With Daniel mentioning that he was going to cook dinner for Lizzy, she dressed in one of her simple designs. An off-shoulder blouse and a lavender pleated skirt with three inches of sandals.

Her handbag matched her shoe perfectly with her hair being let down. Her makeup was simple but to Daniel, she was looking like a goddess and he could not keep his eyes off her.

"Lizzy, the heavens favored you with so much beauty, I feel cheated," Daniel praised her and she beamed shyly.

Daniel stretched his hand towards her and she took it while they walked to his car. He opened the door for Lizzy when Devin spoke from the entrance of the mansion

,

"You better not hurt her or I will make sure you pay."

Devin was not happy with this arrangement, only hoping that it would fail. His sister deserves someone better than Daniel.

Daniel was surprised to see him at the mansion, thinking he had returned to his penthouse.

"You know what Devin, one day, your sister would be my wife and she would love me more than she ever loved you," Daniel said with confidence.

With someone like Lizzy, he would have all the patience in the world to court her and by the time he was done, they would both be in so much love that nothing would break them apart.

"I wait to see that day," Devin responded daringly. He already knew that one of Daniel’s old flings would just show up and that would be when Lizzy would get upset and stop seeing him.

Whereas he had no idea that Daniel never sent any of his flings to his house before.

While on the journey, they had a little chit-chat. "So have you been in a relationship before?" Daniel asked Lizzy and she shook her head,

"No. I’ve been too busy."

Daniel was glad there was no competition; if not, he would have been forced to behave like Robin and torment her every day with his presence.

"I’ve never been in a relationship either."

"But you have experience with women," Lizzy pointed out, silently informing him that she did not trust him fully.

Daniel could understand the reason for her allegation and he was not upset by it. Whereas since he had good intentions towards her, he never wanted to keep secrets from her.

From what he learned from his parents, the only thing that destroyed relationships was secrets.

"If you talk about giving them money to do anything I want, then yes."

Lizzy stole a glance at him and he was indeed serious with his words. She pointed out again, "You are so blunt."

Daniel frowned a little and asked her, "Tell me, Lizzy, would you like me to be honest with you or do you want me to be the perfect gentleman and lie to you?"

Lizzy went quiet for a while, thinking about how she made him misunderstand her statement, thereby explaining, "I said you were blunt; didn’t say you were bad."

Daniel bobbed his head in agreement before asking again, "Do you know how to cook?"

If she didn’t know how to cook, then things would be easy for him but if she did, then he would have to work harder since it was difficult to please a person in something they knew how to do very well.

"Yes, but not as much as Sabrina. There are lots of maids so I hardly cook. Our mom loved to cook and Sabrina learned from her. I learned from Sabrina when she was trying to learn it to impress Robin."

Lizzy suddenly felt guilty for talking about her sister’s love for Robin, she regretted it, "I’ve said too much."

Devin was saddened that she treated him as a friend of Robin and not her friend, being confident that if it was somebody else, Lizzy would not be feeling sorry talking about Sabrina and Robin. He thought to set things right.

"Lizzy, Robin is my best friend but it doesn’t mean that I support everything he does."

Lizzy rolled her eyes, not believing those words. "Then why don’t you ever advise him?" She asked seriously.

Daniel thought about the times he advised Robin against Zayla and responded curtly, "Advice is one thing. Taking it is another."

"So, he doesn’t take your advice," Lizzy retorted with certainty, understanding that Daniel was not like Robin, though they were best friends.

"Glad you caught it but now, he regrets it and that is good," Daniel clarified, so she’d not think that Robin was pretending to be good around his ex-wife.

"Birds of the same feather flock together," Lizzy absent-mindedly responded, Daniel shook his head.

He had a lot in common with Robin, for which reason they were best friends but there were also dissimilarities between them.

They also womanized for different reasons. "Lizzy, I’m a man with a high level of sexual need. I never found a girl who I thought I should settle down with." Daniel paused and stole a glance at her before focusing back on the road.

"They all liked money so what do you expect me to do? Is it wrong to give them what they want while they give me what I want?"
