Ch. 141..145: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 141-145

Chapter 141: Chapter 141 – then she run away.

Lizzy, without experience, was finding it hard to understand the playboy’s mind. She remembered him saying at the party that he stopped so she asked him,

"But you were able to stop for two weeks."

"Three weeks now because I found one who caught my interest and I don’t want to waste my energy anymore. I want to reserve it all for her."

Lizzy’s cheeks turned beet red from the way he looked at her while he spoke and she did not say anymore.

When she arrived at Daniel’s house, it was similar to that of Devin, except for the color preferences.

Lizzy observed that his gentlemanliness was close to that of Devin, such as opening the door for her and whatnot.

Then again, her brother was the only man close to her, making her feel that the comparisons were baseless.

"You can drop your handbag in my bedroom while we go to the kitchen or I will be honored to take it upstairs for you," Daniel smirked, laughing internally at the way confusion clouded her face.

Lizzy did not think it was right to go to his bedroom during a first date so she said,

"I’d rather drop it here." She dropped her hand back on the center table and when she turned around, he was holding a glass of juice on a tray.

She contemplated taking it or not but she was here for dinner so she saw nothing wrong and took the glass of juice from Daniel whiles he said,

"Feel free Lizzy, this should be your third home."

’Third home?’ Lizzy was finding it weird but settled for it being another joke. To avoid Daniel’s flirting and teasing, she diverted her attention to the kitchen.

"Can we go to the kitchen now?"

"Sure," Daniel agreed. He removed his jacket and hung it on a chair since he would be wearing it again to drive her back home.

When they reached the kitchen and Lizzy saw the ingredients, she was amazed. It was difficult to tell exactly what he had in mind to cook for her but it did not wipe her excitement of experiencing something new.

"What are you cooking?"

"I got a lot of groceries so you can tell me what you want me to cook for you," Daniel threw back the question to her. Lizzy glowered a little before squinting her eyes,

"I would love steaks with salad. You can make anything you like for dessert, my treat," Lizzy responded, leaving him thinking about what to make for dessert.

"You have an interesting combination," Daniel wore his apron and began to chop the ingredients while they continued to chat. Lizzy was there through it all but was still amazed.

"If I was not here, I would not have believed it. This looks delicious," she swallowed her saliva and spoke.

"But you have not tasted it yet," Daniel said, a little nervously. He was more concerned about what she would think of the taste.

"I will take it to the dining room," Lizzy went to offer her help but Daniel refused. She was his guest at the moment and he wanted to be the perfect host.

"No, gorgeous. Allow me." He took the tray from her to the dining room and set it on the table.

"Wine, juice, water, or...." Daniel did not finish mentioning the types of drinks he had in store when Lizzy cut in,

"Red wine," she said.

Daniel smiled and brought out his best wine, pouring it for her in the glass. Lizzy was careful to not drink too much while she ate but with time, they began to chat as friends. She had even forgotten about the time when Daniel reminded her,

"I will take you home. It’s getting late."

Lizzy enjoyed her night and was quite sorrowful when it ended. When Daniel dropped her at home, at the door, he waited for the maids to open the door before he said,

"Lizzy, please go on another date with me next week. A real one, not in my house." He was afraid she would refuse but she was rather relieved, smiled, and responded,

"A date it is."

***

At the Sula mansion, Martin was sleeping in his room but Mara was having a sleepless night. She tossed and turned in bed, confused as to why there was no news about Sabrina. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she called Zayla’s father on the phone,

"Have you heard anything about the bitch?"

"Sorry Mara, I don’t think she ate the food. I gave someone all the money you gave me to follow her and I got news that she never even went to the hospital. She has been going to work normally."

Ken intentionally added that he used his money so that Mara would send more but Mara was more concerned about the investment she made, turning out to be unfruitful when she might be pregnant for Martin.

For as long as Sabrina was alive, Martin would not just accept everything that happened. Mara had to get to the bottom of this.

"The imprudent waitress. She told me that Sabrina ate the food," Mara said furiously.

"I think she lied or maybe she did not add the poisonous substance," Kennedy replied thoughtfully but Mara was uneasy. It was the reason why she had to risk leaving the house to get things done herself.

"I added the substance myself before paying her. I ensured it was healthy food so that she would not refuse. I will call her. Goodbye," Mara said and hung up the phone.

She dialed the number of the waitress but it was not going through. She dialed her hacker to find out about the whereabouts of the waiter, only to be met with the news,

"Nothing shows she’s on the soil of New York City. She either deceived you or has been caught and killed by Robin. If not, then she run away," her hacker said carelessly, while Mara was seething at the end of the line.

Chapter 142: Chapter 142 - It seems you are beginning to use your power

Mara began to sweat. This could not be happening to her. Not after all the efforts she put in to put Sabrina in her grave. That waitress must indeed have some answers and Mara was more determined to get it from her.

"Get me any of her family members," she requested as a matter of emergency. The response was another disappointing one after being on the line for another three minutes.

"They all left."

Mara could feel her blood pressure rising. Since she was a child, she kept losing to Sabrina, just like she had an accident right after setting that fire and was paralyzed. It took years of secret physiotherapy for her to regain strength in her legs again.

When Sabrina married Robin, Mara thought everything was finally over and Martin would forget her but no. He kept loving and obsessing over her. All other attempts Mara made on Sabrina’s life equally failed.

When she finally got the chance to eliminate Sabrina for good, she seemed to have failed again. This time, she was also sure to have been duped so she called Zayla on the phone since Zayla had informed her that everything worked as planned. When the phone rang, Zayla was in her room alone so she answered it.

"Hello."

Mara never called anyone with her personal number since that was registered in her brother’s name. For that reason, Zayla had no idea she was the one calling until she answered the phone.

"Zayla, did everything work out as you said?"

Mara’s tone was so cold, the chills cleared the sleep from Zayla’s eyes when she heard Mara’s voice. She responded in a serious tone,

"Yes, everything worked out and Robin said that Sabrina ate the food so I wonder why she’s still alive. Maybe the poison was fake. Did you test it?" Zayla asked seriously, not wanting Mara to feel that she failed her part.

Mara was silent for a while before she responded, "I didn’t test it but it was from a reliable source." She did not want to tell Zayla that it was her father who directed her to where to get it.

"Hmmm Mara, you might have used too little or a wrong one," Zayla knowingly said. Since Sabrina was not dead yet, it would be easy for her baby to be Zayla’s so she wanted to protect it.

Mara would have believed it if she had been able to reach the waitress but since she could not do so, she was still persistent that the waitress did not do her part well.

"I will talk to you later, Zayla."

After Mara hung up, Zayla was about to sleep when her phone rang again. Thinking it was Mara forgetting something, she was shocked to hear a deep voice.

"Ma’am, you have not paid my money so don’t be surprised when you hear the news in the papers tomorrow morning."

Zayla was so upset. If she had not contracted this fool, he would not have had the guts to speak to her that way. Her anger rose and she yelled, "Hey, hold on, I will pay you right now but it has to be into an untraceable account."

Zayla had no choice but to fall on Robin’s money. She hardly used it without informing him but she did not have a choice even though he might see her for the gold digger she was.

Weighing her options, she was sure that should the thief spread the news, she would lose everything and Robin would begin to doubt her.

"Just pay me cash," the thief responded and Zayla thought it was a laudable idea since it would not be traced as to whom she gave the money to.

Robin would only know that she withdrew money from the account he gave her and she could just find some explanation to give him.

"Then meet me at the original place, at the same time," Zayla responded before hanging up the phone.

The next morning, she waited until she heard the sound of Robin’s car before coming out of her room.

She was already dressed, went to the bank, and withdrew a lot of money. Lucky for her, Robin was in an important meeting and the bankers could not reach him.

Also, he had pre-informed them due to Zayla’s condition to honor her request at all times if he could not be reached.

Robin was doing it for the sake of his unborn child, in case there was an emergency and Zayla needed cash when he was not around.

Zayla was smart enough to take advantage of it. Since it was a large sum of money, she allowed her father to come with her and they paid off the thief.

The moment the thief collected the money and left, Zayla vowed to never use the likes of him again.

She did not even leave their meeting place when her phone began to ring. When she saw the caller, she was nervous.

"What is the problem?" Her father asked, seeing how she paled all at once.

"It’s Robin," Zayla shivered and spoke, not expecting Robin to find out so soon. She had even withdrawn extra for her father due to the money she stole to pay the thief his deposit.

"Let me guess, he isn’t aware of the money," Ken discerned and Zayla nodded her head.

"What would I have told him?" She asked helplessly when Ken smiled sinisterly.

"So, what would you tell him now?" He was happy that Zayla was taking the bull by the horn. What was the essence of dating a rich man and not making his money yours?

"I don’t know. I should be able to think up something before reaching the penthouse or go to bed early to avoid his questions. That money is nothing to Robin and he would get over it," Zayla said, trying to convince herself that she did nothing wrong.

Her father seemed happy with her decision.

"Good. It seems you are beginning to use your power. Thanks for sorting me out too," He said and began to look for a cab.

"You are welcome," Zayla said and sat in her car after bidding her father goodbye. As the driver was driving her to the penthouse, he made a turn which got Zayla confused.

"Where are you going? I said to the penthouse," Zayla said in annoyance. She was not in a good mood. The driver hesitated and little before he revealed,

"Mr. Jewel told me to bring you to his office." Zayla went into hyperventilation.

Chapter 143: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 143 – Then take the villa from her. She took it because of the diamonds

Zayla would have preferred the home therapy because sleeping before Robin returned from work had worked a lot of magic and she intended to keep it that way. But she was confused as to how Robin knew that she was not in the penthouse.

"Wait, how did he know about our whereabouts?" She asked the driver and he spoke honestly,

"He called me and said that you were not answering his calls."

Zayla realized that the driver had told Robin about where they went and began to think about the excuse to give him. She could not honor Robin’s command to go to his office. Not today.

"Okay but can we stop by the penthouse, I left my vitamins," she said, trying to change direction without making it obvious but the driver was afraid because of the warning he received from his boss.

"Then please call Mr. Jewel and he would call me to instruct me on what to do," he said politely. Zayla’s heart sank as she knew there was no way around it, beginning to think about the excuses to make up to convince him.

"It’s okay. Let’s go to his office," she took a deep breath and spoke.

At the office, she should have been happy when Aria told her that Mr. Jewel was waiting for her. It was what he always wanted, the fact that Robin would be waiting to be graced by her presence one day but that day was not today.

As soon as she entered, she saw Robin’s sunken mood and pretended as if nothing had happened, going around to hug him tightly from the back,

Whereas she was shocked by the coldness emitted from him since he was always warm towards her.

"Zayla, why did you not answer my calls?"

"I’m sorry, darling. I was buying a few things for Dad. I didn’t hear the phone ringing." Her hands were still wrapped around him while she spoke.

Robin pushed her away but not too hard to make her stagger or fall. He was wise in dealing with a pregnant woman. Zayla put on a pitiful look but it did nothing to appease him of his anger of being disrespected.

"Didn’t I tell you to inform me before leaving the penthouse?"

This wasn’t the first question Zayla expected and had no answer prepared for it. She had forgotten it was where her offense began. She pouted and said,

"He said it wasn’t going to take long." That way, it sounded like her father was the one who requested her presence.

Robin’s expression was blank so Zayla could not guess if he was convinced or not. The next question followed the first,

"So, what did you do with half a million?"

"I needed a lot of things. Changing my wardrobe because I’ve grown bigger, bought baby stuff and I bought some things for dad because it’s his birthday."

When she mentioned the baby, Robin’s anger reduced but then again, who spends that amount of money on something like that?

"With half a million?" Robin asked seriously. Zayla knew that it did not make sense but could not find a way to make it convincing, so she decided to shift his attention by making him insensitive.

"Robin, half a million has no weight. You should increase my wages. I deserve a million every month."

Robin looked at her with shock. He could indeed afford that but was she worth it? What would she use that amount of money for? Robin was beginning to worry that Zayla was not who she portrayed herself to be.

"A million. Tell me what work you do, Zayla?"

There were maids, a chef, a driver, and everything Zayla needed. When Sabrina was his wife, she would take care of everything in the house including his meals and all but did not ask for a cent yet, Zayla wanted a million dollars every month for doing nothing.

Zayla did not feel guilty, recalling how Robin would waste so much money in buying something like a necklace for Sabrina so what was wrong with spending his money too?

"I don’t have to work. Carrying a child is enough work. Robin, I want to sleep," she yawned, her voice thinning out but Robin was suspicious that she was up to something, for which reason he could not let her off like that.

"Zayla, I want to know what you did with my money now," he demanded and Zayla felt bitter. That money was nothing for Robin but he made it look as if it was his whole life savings.

"Robin, why are you treating me like this? Is this what you did to Sabrina when she was your wife?" Having her compare herself to Sabrina again, Robin was upset, he moved away from his desk and glared at her,

"Sabrina never spent up to a thousand dollars in a day. She is a very wise woman. If you keep spending like this, what will happen to the future of our child?" He asked seriously.

He had a lot of money but he was saving it up for his children’s future. Since he was going to have two, he would have to divide his wealth equally among them.

"Robin, you just called me a foolish woman."

Zayla was embittered by how his eyes and voice softened together when he spoke about Sabrina, which she could not accept. More so, he called her wise so what about Zayla? What was she?

"I didn’t. You asked about Sabrina and I told you," Robin corrected her. Zayla’s eyes were already turning pink, as tears threatened to fall.

"You make her look like the Angel when I was the one who saved your life," she began the blame game again but this time, Robin was not remorseful about his words because of the huge money she withdrew. It was like payment for the kindness she showed him.

"Now don’t go there. I was talking about your expenditure. Money doesn’t fall from trees."

"But Sabrina is the Angel, right? Do you think she is a good woman? Why was she eager to divorce you and take the villa?" Zayla asked, Robin was confused, asking seriously,

"What are you talking about?"

"Sabrina is greedy but you don’t see it," Zayla stated upon observing his interest in the allegation. This was her only chance to make him hate Sabrina.

"Don’t call her that. She is a decent woman," Robin roared, a tear dropped from Zayla’s eyes and she said something she was going to regret for the rest of her life.

"Then take the villa from her. She took it because of the diamonds. Very soon, she will become richer than you."

Chapter 144: Chapter 144 – the new owner of the villa

Zayla indeed got Robin’s full attention this time. She picked it very well, it could not be reduced because this was a serious accusation. Robin had no idea what she was talking about and if it was indeed true, then how could he trust Sabrina?

"Zayla, what diamonds are you talking about?" Robin asked, this time in a soft tone. As a businessman, diamonds meant a lot so indeed, he was interested in this diamond of a thing. Zayla realized too late how she lacked control of her emotions and spilled the beans.

Her heart thumped, as she expected Robin to forget the words she spoke. If Robin found the diamonds, then her father could never have it.

What is wrong with Zayla. Why did she have to speak before thinking? "I did not mention anything like that," she quickly refused but Robin was not stupid. He saw the seriousness with which she said it and knew that it was true.

"But I heard it from you," he said calmly, not wanting to scare her from spilling the truth once again. Zayla faked a yawn, as she tried to escape.

Afterall, if Robin did not know the details, he would assume she was just being a fool and forget all about it.

"I think it’s because I’m tired. I need to rest."

The speed at which she ran to the door was so much, Robin feared that she might fall and injure herself and the baby.

Luckily, she made it out safely but Robin’s mind had received information he could not let go just like that. Not when it involved diamonds.

As soon as she left his office, Robin made a call to his bankers. He trusted Zayla blindly and after all his hard work, he would not allow her to destroy it because she saved his life and was pregnant for him.

She asked for a villa and he was already building one for her. Zayla was not deserving of the financial trust he gave her, for which reason he had to take it away.

"Please do not honor any cash out or purchase with any of my cards presented by Zayla without my approval. I will send an email to confirm this," Robin said to his bank manager.

He saw their calls and emails asking him to confirm the transactions but it was after his meeting because he did not take his phone along with him to the meeting.

However, he could not hold them responsible since he had previously authorized them that should he not be reached, Zayla should be taken care of.

"Yes Mr. Robin," the bank manager responded curtly. Robin was their biggest client so his words were more powerful than that of their CEO himself.

If Robin withdrew all his money, the bank was sure to shake or even collapse.

After hanging up, Robin instantly put everything aside and sent the email to confirm his words. When he was done, he tried to focus on what he was doing before Zayla came in but it was fruitless. He could not get over this diamond saga of a thing.

The only way to clear his mind was to pay a visit to the villa. After leaving Aria with a lot of instructions, he left the office, so he could return early to see and drop Sabrina at home.

Upon his arrival at the villa which was once his home, he was surprised to be stopped by security.

"Do you not know me?" Robin was annoyed and asked the head of security, who was still on his payroll.

Whoever Sabrina had not let go of, was still on his payroll so he could not understand the level of disrespect he was receiving.

The head of security was afraid but then again, he had previously received words from Mr. Jewel himself that the Villa belonged to his ex-wife, who happened to be the one who gave them the rules to follow.

"We do, but there is a new owner and we have not been informed of your coming," the head of security said politely, Robin frowned deeply.

For a moment, he doubted Sabrina’s honesty. She made him understand that she did not want the money so why sell the villa when he was ready to give her more than it’s worth?

Robin did not care about the villa before but those diamonds which must have gotten into the hands of the new owners were his headache.

Whatever was in the villa must belong to the Jewels and if Sabrina sold the villa, then Robin was sure that she was equally clueless of there being anything like that in there.

"You mean the villa has been sold?" He asked again, hoping it was a slip of tongue like Zayla was trying to eat back her words after revealing it.

"Yes." The head of security nodded his head and Robin’s heart sank.

He never paid attention to the villa, not even when the two women kept fighting for it. He never tried to find out the reason why they were doing so but thought it right to give it to Sabrina since she lived there throughout their marital life and had great memories with Robin’s father.

"To who?" Robin asked seriously.

He was determined to speak to the new owner to buy back the villa. That is if the person did not know that it contained anything like a diamond but what if the person discovered and had sold it?

Robin was confused but still wanted to know. How could Sabrina do this? And how could he blame her?

The head of security had no idea what was going on in his former boss’s mind.

However, if he was asking for the contact of the new owner, the head of security saw nothing wrong in giving it to him.

Pulling out a drawer, he brought out a call card, handing it over to Robin while saying, "She gave us her card and here it is. You can take a snapshot."

When Robin saw the name on the card, his hands shook on the steering.

Chapter 145: Chapter 145 – Robin shed tears.

Robin returned the card to the security man and began to drive away, surprising the security man by not taking a snapshot of the card as he suggested.

The security man shrugged and dropped the card back to where he kept it before, feeling that his former boss would come back for it later.

The name Robin saw on the card made him so guilty. It reminded him of the terrible things he did both to Sabrina, his father, and even his grandmother.

As he thought about his grandmother whom he had not seen in years, tears brimmed in the back of his eyes.

Cecelia Jewel, that woman loved Robin very much but he constantly disrespected her.

She lived just an hour’s drive away from the villa but Robin had never taken the pain of going to see her or even calling her on the phone.

He kept fighting back the tears as his hands shook on the steering while he drove. Robin guessed by now that Sabrina did not sell but gifted the villa to his grandmother since she did not need it.

It ached his heart at how he let a selfless woman like Sabrina go without fighting for her.

When he reached the old villa where his grandmother lived with her maids and caretakers, it took a while for him to alight from the car or even horn the security but to his amazement, the gates opened to let him in without the security asking who he was.

It was the same protocol he received when he used to visit four years ago. He stopped visiting three years ago when he realized that his grandmother equally supported his father to force the marriage between him and Sabrina.

When he alighted from the car and walked to the door, he was about to knock on it when it opened from the inside as if his grandmother was already expecting him.

He was met with a sweet smile but could not return it immediately, due to the pain he was going through.

"Welcome, Mr. Jewel," Lily, her grandmother’s caretaker said, while ushering him into the old villa where they all lived before, he moved to the new one with his father and Sabrina after marriage.

This villa held a lot of memories because this was where Robin grew up. Sabrina’s father’s former house was just a few blocks away and so was that of the general’s old mansion and even Zayla’s family house, not far away.

Robin has never been here for over three years but not much has changed. The villa was still as neat and beautiful as it used to be when they lived here.

"Thank you, Lily, it has been a long while," Robin struggled with words since his mind was muffled with so much confusion.

Lily gave a nod, understanding his countenance, which did not disturb her much. Robin was always aloof to them so it was good that he was even polite.

"Grandma is relaxing in her recliner."

A smile forced its way through Robin’s lips. The recliner was where his grandma used to sit ever since he had known her. It used to be his grandfather’s favorite place and as soon as he died, his wife, Robin’s grandmother took over, saying that she always felt her late husband’s presence whenever she sat there.

"Then I should not disturb her," Robin thought and said since his reason for coming over was a selfish one, as he admitted to his shame.

Lily frowned a little bit, knowing how eager the old woman had been to see her grandson again.

"She would be angry if you didn’t."

"Is that Robin?"

His grandmother’s voice had not changed one bit. It still carried the warmth and love it always had ever since he knew her.

Robin walked to where he heard the sound of his voice and she was indeed in the recliner with her favorite herbal tea.

She also had not changed much in three years, except for the gray hairs which had increased a little bit.

Robin’s heart was filled with complicated emotions while the woman smiled at him ever so gently.

"Yes grandma, I’m sorry," Robin sniffled. He could not hold back the tears anymore.

"Come here grandson," the old woman’s arms were widely open to welcome him, making him shed more tears. When Robin embraced his grandmother, he could not hold back his tears.

For years, he never shed a tear but right now, he was crying like the prodigal grandson he was.

"Grandma, I’m very, very sorry."

The old woman pulled away and wiped his tears with her thumb, feeling that she did not deserve his apology.

"I am not the one you should be apologizing to."

She said so because the problem started with Sabrina. Robin hated his marriage to Sabrina so much that everyone who supported it became an enemy.

"I know. But I don’t know how to make it up to her. It’s too late because another woman is pregnant for me."

The only thing holding Robin back from pursuing his ex-wife was Zayla.

He knew that Sabrina would never give him a chance for as long as Zayla was still in his life and the pregnancy.

His grandmother was patting his back while he knelt and cried on his lap. She said to him,

"If another woman is pregnant for you, it should not stop you from apologizing to Sabrina."

Robin lifted his head and looked into his grandmother’s eyes, knowing that she did not understand the depth of the situation or the fact that maybe Sabrina had not told her.

"Sabrina is pregnant too."

"What?" Cecilia froze in her actions, feeling betrayed since she and Sabrina had been in constant communication.

"And she didn’t tell me? I saw her two weeks ago. I will call her now."

Robin could not stop the woman due to her determination.

As soon as Sabrina answered the call, the old woman seriously,

"Young lady, when are you going to tell me that you are carrying my grandchild?"
