Ch. 186..190: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 186-190

Chapter 186: Chapter 186 – So, what are your plans for the baby?

"Sorry Sabrina, you look beautiful but I meant your sister," Daniel cleared the awkwardness in the air but when he saw Sabrina smiling, he quickly added, "But I think Robin was referring to you.

He recalled Robin’s plea to put in a word for him for which reason he did but seeing Sabrina’s smile fade, he felt sorry for Robin.

Daniel already discerned that it might just be impossible for Robin to win back his ex-wife.

"See you, Brina," Lizzy waved at Sabrina and sat in Daniel’s car whilst Sabrina made herself comfortable in Robin’s car, wondering if going with Robin to see his grandma was a good idea but upon second thought, she felt that she should not worry since grandma already promised to not try to reunite her with Robin.

On the way, Robin asked, "Where do you usually purchase her vitamins?"

He wanted to purchase them but it was also his way of striking a meaningful conversation since he did not want to offend her again.

Sabrina rolled her eyes at his sudden unwanted interest in his grandmother’s health.

All he cared about before was getting the trophy for having many women but suddenly, he cared about his only surviving family.

Sabrina wondered exactly why she fell in love with Robin. Maybe his looks or the fact that he was smart in academia.

For whatever reason it was, she did not think it was worth it anymore.

"I already got them."

Robin was disappointed to not have been the one to get the vitamins for his grandmother.

Aside from her vitamins, the old woman had everything else at her beck and call, for which reason he didn’t know what else to buy.

"I want to get her some too."

"This can take her for three months and don’t forget that they have expiry dates," Sabrina subtly reminded him, he had no choice but to agree.

"Alright."

The rest of the journey was in silence until they reached the gate which opened to them automatically since they were being expected at the old villa.

Grandma was sitting on the patio, drinking herbal tea when she saw Robin walk around to open the door for Sabrina.

He was happy to see both of them but not in the way others would think.

They looked like a perfect couple but she knew better than to wish for it.

She never wanted to see Sabrina hurting again and would never advise her to go back to her grandson.

The old woman stood up before Sabrina reached her, hugging the latter, and asking,

"How far have you gone?"

Sabrina needn’t ask what she meant and responded with a guilty smile, "Just two months, Grandma."

She brought out the vitamins from her handbag, lest she forgot, and placed them on the table, around which the old woman sat before.

Cecilia was happy but there was still sadness in her eyes when she spoke.

"But you should have still told me about it."

The misery airing from the old woman’s words when she spoke made Sabrina feel terrible, and she apologized,

"I’m very sorry."

Robin was surprised that his grandmother had not welcomed him nor said anything good or bad to him. His presence at the moment seemed to be unwanted.

"Grandma, I’m here too," he announced his presence since no one was giving him the necessary attention.

The old woman glanced at him and nodded her head,

"I know you are there but you are just not needed at the moment."

She ignored Robin’s sore mood and said to Sabrina,

"Sabrina, I hope you are taking proper care of yourself?"

Cecilia guided Sabrina to the chair next to her whilst speaking, Sabrina was moved by her warmth, and it caused her to miss her mother.

This was the reason why she always found herself coming to see Cecilia most of the time. She reminded Sabrina so much of her mother.

"Yes Grandma, I am well taken care of," she smiled and said, feeling that the old woman was just worried-sick about her.

The smile on her face left no room for doubts but the old woman was still not convinced, greatly concerned about the baby in her womb.

"I wish you could come and live here with me. You live with your father and maids. They don’t have any personal experience."

Sabrina did not refuse but neither did she accept the invitation.

Robin was sitting right in front of them but it was as if he did not exist and since he could not join the conversation, all he could do was listen.

"I would have loved to but the distance is too much from my office," Sabrina said and the old woman frowned a little.

"I forgot that you work. So hard working. So, what are your plans for the future of the unborn child?"

Robin was expecting them to involve him in this line of conversation since he was the child’s father but nothing of this sort seemed to be working.

It was as if he was banned from contributing.

"Since Robin wants to take responsibility, we would just come to a compromise," Sabrina said but the old woman misunderstood her words and asked her,

"Will you live together?"

"Never." Sabrina refused instantly but the way she said it, made Robin’s face drain of color. It was as if he was some virus she was running away from.

"We might have days when either of us would have the child or the child would be with me and he could come to visit at any time," Sabrina revealed her plans.

Robin did not agree but his powers were limited at this time and he was not supposed to utter a word.

He was building that villa because of Zayla, thinking she was carrying his child but now, she was nonexistent to Robin.

Whereas grandma agreed with the arrangement.

"That isn’t a bad idea. Let me get you tea."

Sabrina did not refuse her kind gesture since the woman would still have insisted on it anyway.

There was no way she would leave this villa without tea.

"Thank you, Grandma."

The two women spoke as if Robin did not exist, till it was past lunchtime.

Robin moved away to make a few calls but his presence was not missed.

He had called the building company to put a hold on the villa under construction until he decided on what to do with it.

When he returned, they had late lunch together, in the course of which Grandma asked Robin,

"So, what are your plans for the baby?"

Chapter 187: Chapter 187 – Someone has been in this closet

"So, what are your plans for the baby?"

It was an innocent question but Robin lacked an answer to it, merely by the way Sabrina stared at him.

The fear of offending her did not allow him to let his intentions be made known.

"Grandma, the baby is still in the womb. Let them come out first."

The old woman felt anxious and gave Robin her attention.

"Why do you say them?" She was already excited about Sabrina giving them multiple babies.

Robin smiled and gave her hope, "Because I know that they are twins."

Grandma did not hide her excitement, whereas Sabrina was looking blankly at Robin.

"How?" Grandma asked.

Robin looked at Sabrina and smiled, glad to have gotten the old man’s attention for a while.

"Sabrina has a very flat stomach and she is yet to hit three months but look at her bump?"

Robin’s analysis was not making sense to the old woman since Sabrina’s dress hid her bump very well.

"I don’t see it."

"But I do," Robin insisted, not wanting to be discouraged that his analysis was wrong.

This was the only hope he had to get at least two children with his ex-wife. Cecilia gave up,

"Since you are the only one seeing it, have you decided on a name for the child yet?"

Sabrina spoke before Robin could respond. "If she’s a girl, I’ll name her after you."

"That would make me so happy," Cecilia smiled broadly and spoke.

They spent hours with the old woman yet, it felt like minutes because of how happily she and Sabrina chatted.

Robin had to inform them about the time to not miss going to the new villa.

"Grandma, it’s getting late and we have to pass through the new villa."

He felt guilty by the dismayed look in his grandmother’s eyes but whether they stayed longer or not, they would still have to go.

"What are you going to do there?" Grandma asked since Robin had not told her about it earlier.

With Sabrina around, the old woman also ensured to not make mention of anything about Zayla.

Whatever would upset Sabrina had to be pushed to the corner for her sanity.

Robin did not have the confidence to tell her about what they were going to do there, since he felt ashamed to only take an interest in his father’s memory after his death and not when he was alive.

"Just to check a few things."

"Okay."

Granda was about to tell her caretaker to pick up the keys for them when Robin thought about something and decided to alert her,

"But grandma, I will need one of your drivers to follow us and bring it back. It would be too stressful to drive Sabrina back for it."

"You can go with my driver," Cecilia readily agreed since it involved Sabrina.

After hugging Sabrina again, the old woman bid farewell to them but Robin was saddened.

"Grandma, what about me?"

"Sorry, grandson," the old woman hugged Robin before he felt a little better.

When Robin arrived at the new villa with Sabrina, she tensed slightly even before they went in.

She relaxed a little upon seeing the maids and greeting them.

They usually used the back entrance into the villa so the front side was usually always closed, only used by Cecilia or Sabrina when coming in.

Nonetheless, none of them had even come to the villa after Sabrina gifted it to the old woman.

Sabrina was a little hesitant when climbing the stairs, as so many memories began to download into her mind.

"Are you alright?" Robin asked carefully, Sabrina shook her head, regretting coming in the first place.

"Robin, I shouldn’t be here."

Robin knew that the memory was painful for her and he could only blame himself for it.

However, he still could not allow her to go without telling him about the reason why they came.

"I understand. Let’s go to my father’s room."

Hearing about his father, Sabrina smiled. "Yeah, let’s go there."

As soon as Sabrina entered the room, her heart felt heavy and her eyes were filled with complex emotions.

She recalled the number of times the old man called her to his room to comfort her whenever she saw videos or pictures of Robin with other women circulating the social media.

It was through him she derived the strength to survive it. It was the same strength that carried her through after the old man departed.

In this same room, he would praise her for being a strong and selfless woman.

In this same room, he made her promise to not give the villa to anyone.

Sabrina was slightly guilty about that part but was sure that if the old man was alive, he would not have been upset by the decision she took.

She went to the closet and realized that things were not as they were supposed to be.

Still tears brimmed in the back of her eyes and though difficult, she would blink them back.

Some of the clothes were just mere clothes but some also carried special memories.

As she watched the arrangement of the clothes in the closet, she realized exactly what was said,

"Someone has been in this closet."

Robin was shocked and asked her, "How did you know?"

"Because I arranged everything myself when he passed away," Sabrina said with a sad smile while hugging the clothes to her chest.

She missed her father-in-law so much and wondered why good people like him should be taken away.

Robin felt emotional upon seeing her like that and contemplated if he should inform her about the gift left behind for her but that would also mean that she would know that he knew about her anonymous donation.

"He left something for you but I don’t have the keys to open the drawer in which he kept it," Robin said, dropping a hint to give her hope but also not going to tell her now.

Her birthday was just a few weeks away and he was sure to bring her back to give it to her.

However, it did not look like Sabrina could wait for so long, she asked,

"What did he leave for me?"

Chapter 188: Chapter 188 – Can I get a friendly hug?

"What did he leave for me?"

Robin saw the curiosity in her eyes and was a little remorseful.

He could not tell her just yet and tried shifting her attention to something else,

"You said his clothes had stories to them."

Sabrina’s eyes lit, recounting her adventures with her father-in-law. To her, the man was her father, and never added in-law when addressing him.

She began shifting the clothes one by one until her hand caught one of interest to her, and she smiled,

"Yes. This one, I gifted it to him during his last Christmas with us. He loved it so much, he wore it a lot."

She held another one but did not remove it from the hanger. It was a black casual Lacoste.

"This one was something I bought for you but you came home drunk so I got upset and gave it to him. It wasn’t meant for someone his age but he wore it and looked so good. I remember us taking a picture together."

Robin lowered his head in shame when he saw how gloomy she looked talking about him being drunk.

He made a silent vow in his heart to never visit the club again, since that was where all his problems began.

"I got this suit specially made for him on the day he graduated with his Doctorate degree. He begged you to attend but you never did. The suit made him so joyous and do you know what he said?"

Robin shook his head with a pitiful expression. It was a painful realization that Sabrina and his father found happiness with each other.

"He said that he wished I was a boy."

Robin felt a pain in his chest at the revelation and could vaguely discern that his father must have given up on him and wished that Sabrina was rather his son.

It still did not make him judgmental and he wanted to confirm the reason, asking,

"Why?"

Sabrina shook her head pitifully. She never had a normal chat with Robin like this when they were married but are doing so now. How ironic!

"I don’t know, and I didn’t ask."

"What about that red shirt?" Robin pointed at a shirt that seemed isolated.

Sabrina’s countenance darkened at the sight of it. She did not intend to reveal the story behind it.

"It’s better I don’t say it."

Her reluctance, to Robin’s understanding, was an indication that she was hiding something unpleasant.

Since she started it, Robin wanted to hear it all. He was ready to carry the guilt.

"Please, I want to hear it."

A tear slipped down Sabrina’s eyes but she quickly wiped it and recalled the sad but intriguing story.

"On Valentine’s Day two years ago, I prepared a special candle-lit dinner for you."

Robin felt another ball of regret hit his head as Sabrina continued the story,

"I was hoping that it would make you happy so you’ll make me your priority. I discussed it with your father and he gave me tips on the things you would like."

Her voice was suddenly heavy with emotions but she refused to cry again this time around.

It was already over and to shed more tears would only mean she had not gotten over it.

"He called you on the phone and you said you have more important matters to attend to and not trivial things like me, who had nothing to do except sitting up and waiting for you to return."

Robin recalled that day that he was in a hotel room with three women, not knowing how to hide his shame.

Perhaps he should have allowed her to skip the story of the red shirt.

"I heard the voice of your whores in the background, telling you to hang up and come to bed and you did."

Sabrina smiled bitterly but Robin’s eyes were red and swollen with unshed tears whilst she continued the story, even when Robin had wished that she wouldn’t.

"I wept that night, thinking that my hard work was wasted and accepting that I would never be good enough for you. Your father came and dined with me. He was wearing that red shirt which he bought for you."

From how broken Robin was, he would not be surprised that Sabrina felt worse. She forced a smile, looked him in the eyes, and spat coldly,

"This is it, Robin. The reason why I would never consider ever remarrying you. Everything about your father makes me smile but all you bring is pain."

"There are no good memories of you and me and I have nothing to hold on to."

She walked out after speaking her mind. Robin froze for a while before he followed her, though he wanted to stay behind for a little longer to think about all that she had said but also knew that she would be waiting for him in the car.

After giving the keys to Grandma’s driver, he walked to his car and sat in the passenger seat. It took a while before he started the ignition and stepped on the accelerator.

The drive back to Sabrina’s mansion was extremely quiet, as they were both lost in different thoughts.

Robin did not know how to wipe her pains of the past of him but was also worried that she was hungry.

"Should we stop somewhere and grab something to eat?"

Sabrina sneered at the thought of eating with him in a public place.

"Who knows if we bump into a paparazzi or something? I will go and eat at home."

The meaning of her words was clear to Robin that she did not want to be seen with him and the public and it shattered his heart.

All his hope was lost at this moment. "Okay. We shall go and eat at home."

Sabrina did not respond and again, silence returned. When they reached the mansion, Robin asked after opening the car door for her,

"Can I get a friendly hug?"

Chapter 189: Chapter 189 – I never signed...”

"Can I get a friendly hug?"

Robin was hoping that their friendship would remain solid even after all the events of the past, for which reason he requested it.

During their three years of marriage, he never tried to hug or show her affection. It was only in bed that he could not resist her every time they slept together.

Sabrina stiffened at the request but when she relaxed, her eyes were cold and it radiated through her words,

"No Robin, some things should better be avoided."

She was not going to lead him on by agreeing to his request. Who knows, next time, he might just ask for a friendly kiss.

Robin’s hopes died. No matter which way he turned, it was just hard to make his ex-wife understand that he had changed.

At the same time, Daniel arrived with Lizzy and both their attention was taken away by the bubbling pair.

Daniel opened the car door for Lizzy, and when she stepped out, she quickly went over to where Sabrina stood in front of Robin.

"I guess our timing is perfect," Daniel exclaimed to Robin, at the same time Sabrina asked Lizzy,

"So where did you go?"

She was just curious to know if her sister had a blast. Lizzy was glowing with excitement, saying,

"Horse riding, and the movies."

"Sounds interesting. We should all go and have dinner together," Sabrina suggested since she did not want to eat with Robin alone.

It was late and her father must have already had his dinner, for which reason she wanted it so. To her dismay, Lizzy said,

"We are full. We ate so much already."

Robin wanted to speak with Daniel and decided to skip supper. He wasn’t hungry anyway, only worried about Sabrina.

"Sabrina, I will see you tomorrow," Robin said.

Sabrina nodded her head with so much relief and went inside.

Being close to Robin was very tortuous to her and for a moment, she wished that he was not the father of her child.

It was the only reason why she kept enduring the torture.

Robin and Daniel were still standing by their cars when Robin asked Daniel,

"How did it go?"

"Great. How about you?" Daniel asked Robin, hoping for some miraculous happiness for his best friend but Robin’s shoulders slumped and he hissed,

"Terrible. I messed up big time, there seems to be no hope for me."

Daniel rubbed his back comfortingly, feeling pity for him,

"Have faith bro."

***

A few weeks later

"Sabrina, what have you done," Cobby barged into his daughter’s office and asked.

Sabrina yawned, as she had just woken from a nap, wondering why her eyes were still so heavy.

Well, she blamed it on her hormones, happy her next antenatal was in three days and she could ask the doctor about it.

Her birthday was also scheduled for the weekend and invitations had been sent out.

Though it was her birthday, she took the back seat since Robin claimed he wanted to handle it alone.

She could not stop him due to his insistence, ending up agreeing to it.

"Dad, is everything alright?" Sabrina asked upon seeing her father’s distraught look.

It soon changed into one of disappointment when he realized that she was fine.

However, seeing her father in her office, Sabrina discerned there was a problem since she was the one who usually went to his office.

Cobby tried to hold his anger but Sabrina still felt it when he spoke,

"I thought we agreed for you to send every document from Martin to me before appending your signature to it?"

Sabrina frowned in deep thought. She had done just that and was wondering the reason why her father was still upset.

"Yes, Dad, and I have been doing just that."

Cobby stared at her like a ghost. When he tried to warn her against Martin, that Mara must be in control of him, Sabrina was adamant, refusing to believe it and now, she had caused a mess that was threatening both their company and that of Devin’s.

"It doesn’t seem so," Cobby said, still trying but not able to hold himself, as he trembled from within, afraid of all their loss.

"Where are the original copies of the last one you signed?" he requested but Sabrina was confused, suddenly feeling nervous.

Her father had expressed his approval before she signed and even sent him a copy.

"You already have that," she stated before Cobby dropped the bomb which made her dizzy.

"I mean the one you signed today."

Sabrina paled and began looking around. She soon felt hot and wanted to drink her tea but realized that the cup was full and it had turned extremely cold.

She recalled having almost emptied the cup before falling asleep. She also did not recall signing any document today.

Her mind seemed to be in a daze, as some things did not feel right.

Her father was staring at her impatiently, refusing to sit down so she decided to get him the last document signed which was over a month ago.

She bent her head a little bit. "I never signed..." Sabrina paused and her phone began to ring. It was Devin.

"Don’t answer it," her father said, confusing her even more but she saw a fresh set of documents she never saw before in her drawer and asked,

"Who put this here? I don’t remember seeing it."

Her phone began to ring again. It was one of the investors so Cobby took her phone and switched it off.

Sabrina was wide-eyed, shocked, and perplexed,

"Dad, that was an investor so why did you switch off my?"

Cobby was concerned about her condition, for which reason he wanted to handle everything himself but needed the original document to confirm.

"Let’s see what is inside."

He ignored her question and redirected it towards the document she just brought out of her desk drawer.

As Sabrina removed the document from the envelope and began to flip the pages, she felt her eyes blurry and everything becoming dark right before her eyes.

She shook her head, trying to fight the darkness but it was so dominant.

"Brina," her father called out but Sabrina could only hear his voice from afar.

The door opened and Devin stepped right in, right when her vision blurred,

"Sabrina!" He screamed.

Chapter 190: Chapter 190 - Sabrina would never do that

Robin was upset in a meeting in one of his conference rooms.

One of his CEOs had overlooked some important details for a partnership agreement that could cost him millions for which the deadline was also due.

"Fix it, before Monday, Bernard," Robin warned sternly before concluding the meeting.

"Yes, Mr. President. I will have it signed and send a copy to your email," the remorsed CEO responded politely.

As he stormed out of the conference room with Aria following from a distance because of his anger, he was surprised to see Daniel in his office when he got there.

After long meetings like this, he knew there would be pending emails waiting for him to attend to, for which reason he was not ready to see Daniel at this moment, thereby asking,

"Dan, I am very busy today. Is it urgent?"

Daniel was amazed that Robin was not rather asking for his help.

When he saw the news, he was expecting Robin’s call and since he was leaving a client’s office which was close by, he decided to stop by, only to realize that Robin was not seated.

Even if the office was locked, he had the passcode to open it and did so.

"I thought you would need my help."

Robin’s brows furrowed in confusion and his eyes were gloomy because of the just-ended meeting.

"Wait, am I missing something?"

Robin’s surprised countenance amazed Daniel since he expected Robin to have first-hand information, due to his investment of all his subsidiary companies into JC Minerals and clothing.

"Where is your phone? Hasn’t any of your CEOs called?"

During brainstorming meetings, Robin never carried his phone along.

"We just finished a four-hour meeting."

He walked to his executive swivel chair and sat, glaring at the long trail of emails waiting for him to respond to.

He began to read some of them when Daniel sighed, asking,

"So, you haven’t heard that Sabrina signed off seventy percent of JC Minerals and Clothing shares to Dane Industries?"

Robin’s actions paused and his hand on the keyboard froze. He shook his head.

"Sabrina would never do that."

Daniel felt sorry for him because of the level of trust he discovered that Robin had for Sabrina.

It was not for him to try to sound judgemental so he switched on the LED screen in Robin’s office and gave his phone to him as well.

"But it’s on the news."

Robin frowned in confusion, convincing himself that something must be wrong somewhere.

If anything at all, Sabrina was still a deputy to her father, not having the right to sign something like that without her father’s consent.

Robin did not bother to take Daniel’s phone and neither was he going to believe the news blindly, knowing that journalists had ways of twisting the news to gain popularity.

"Where is my phone?"

Robin suddenly remembered to check his phone for any missed calls and when he could not find it on his desk, he checked his desk drawers and there it was.

"One hundred and eighty-five missed calls?"

Worry flung him as he began to scroll through the missed calls log.

Media houses, partners, Zayla, Devin..." he frowned, wondering why Devin would call him. Then he saw Cobby’s call and grew worried, not scrolling further.

"Sabrina’s father called."

Daniel already guessed the reason and explained,

"Martin addressed the media an hour ago that he was taking over JC minerals and clothing in three days."

Robin’s expression darkened dangerously, and his anger grew.

"Over my dead body will he do that. He is the reason why I invested in the JCs."

Some of the CEOs who left the meeting began to call Robin, which meant that they had equally seen the news.

Robin rejected their calls, dialing Cobby’s number.

"Did you hear me? Sabrina signed it..." Daniel was saying when Robin cut him off, instructing,

"Check the camera installed in her office. I will speak to her father first."

Cobby answered his phone on the first ring.

"Robin..."

"Dad, what’s going on?" Robin asked calmly.

He wouldn’t fidget about something like this when he knew how to put Martin in his place.

His only concern was the toll it would have on Sabrina since she was pregnant.

"Sabrina fainted in her office forty minutes ago and has been rushed to the hospital."

Robin was already on his feet, his heart almost falling out of his chest. His hand holding the phone even shook as worry flung him.

"Why didn’t anyone tell me? Which hospital?"

Anger resonated through his voice, as it raised slightly but Cobby was calm, saying,

"Don’t worry, she will be fine but we might lose everything in three days if we don’t get help and that would disturb her even more."

It was painful for Robin, as the understanding settled that Sabrina fainted as well because of the news or something of that sort.

If she indeed signed it herself, then how would she faint from shock?

Robin was already thinking about all the possibilities and reasons why it so happened when Cobby’s voice explained it.

"I don’t know how Martin made her sign the documents but she claims she doesn’t remember and no one saw Martin enter her office either."

Robin tried to calm down. Even if he went to see Sabrina now, it would do her no good since the problem was still at hand.

He had to find a way to dilute the effect, so her heart would be calm.

"Is her signature on it already?" Robin asked Cobby on the phone.

"Yes, but she was even surprised when she saw the document."

Cobby knew as well that something was wrong because Sabrina would not lie to him.

However, her signature and the document that appeared in her office were a mystery but Robin wanted to know the details of what she signed.

"What exactly did she sign?"

Cobby paused in deep thought before revealing, confirming Daniel’s words,

"She signed off 70% shares."

Robin smiled bitterly. Sabrina trusted Martin so much, even better than Robin.

If only she had listened to him but he was not going to let Martin win.

"I knew that son of a bitch was up to something. I will take care of it but don’t tell Sabrina about my involvement."
