Ch. 201..205: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 201-205
Chapter 201: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 201 - Brina, are you still in love with him?”
Martin was depressed by Devin’s words but also upset by how he made him look like the villain.
"What did you want me to do? You watched him kick me out of Sabrina’s life," he complained.
After waiting for so many years and even after Sabrina divorced, it took a while for her to warm up to him and when she finally did, Robin appeared from nowhere to kick him out of her life.
Devin explained in annoyance,
"I have no right to keep him from his unborn child."
Martin was angrier, yelling,
"And you know very well that is just a trick."
Devin’s expression grew darker. If that hadn’t happened, how would he have known that his best friend was a snake?
Thinking through the pros and cons, he was rather delighted by Robin’s forceful actions.
"And I’m glad he pulled it off because I would never have known that you are a lying, conniving and sneaky bastard."
Martin was so angry, he thought to scare Devin a little since he wouldn’t know that he tore the only original document Martin had.
"I will be your boss in two days."
"Fuck you, Martin! You don’t know shit about us and you will never be our boss. Just to let you know, we have enough proof to send you to jail."
Martin was gripped with fear once again, feeling that though Devin did not know that he destroyed a valuable document, he still had something else to nail him.
It was the same thing Robin and Cobby said for which reason he thought about denying the accusation again.
"I did nothing."
"Why don’t you wait for the news tomorrow?" Devin asked with an evil smirk, glaring at the man he once called a best friend.
It lasted for just a few seconds before he walked to the door, stopped, walked back, and punched Martin very hard in the face for the last time.
Martin fell on the floor, looking worse than when Devin received his punches from Robin.
Devin explained the reason for the punch in a chilly tone before walking away,
"That is for not thinking about my sister’s condition before drugging her. You are lucky that nothing happened to the baby in her womb."
Martin could sense trouble but since Mara said that she had everything cleared, he had to go and see her.
Staggering to his feet and looking like a mess, he headed to the door.
Devin got to the mansion when his family was having dinner.
Matilda went to hug him and seeing the redness on his face, she asked him worriedly,
"What happened, Devin?"
Devin kissed her briefly on the lips and walked to the dining table.
"It’s nothing," he sat down but all the delicious delicacies displayed suddenly felt unattractive to him as Matilda noticed something else, saying,
"You have bruises on your face."
Devin was somehow honest, wondering why he did not feel ashamed to admit it.
Perhaps it was because of all the things he found out today.
"That is from Robin."
"Robin?" Sabrina asked. She was shocked but so were Matilda and Cobby, wondering how the two enemies met once again.
"I accused him of not keeping his word and we got into a fight but it’s okay," Devin poured himself a glass of water whilst explaining.
"At least we got..."
"Devin, can we talk in the study?" Austin interrupted his words and asked when he sensed that Devin was going to spit everything about Robin’s help.
"Yes Dad," Devin agreed.
Cobby and Devin left the dining table but Sabrina was curious, telling Matilda and Lizzy,
"It feels as if they are both hiding something. There is something Father doesn’t want me to know."
Ever since her father returned, he has been more quiet than usual, and from the way he stopped Devin from saying what he wanted to say and excused themselves to go talk in private, Sabrina felt even more curious.
"I felt so too but it should be for your good," Matilda shrugged and responded, eating slowly in the process.
Sabrina nodded her head but was disturbed by Lizzy’s non-interest in their conversation.
"So, Lizzy, how was work?" Sabrina asked when Lizzy was eating tiredly and looking exhausted.
"Please don’t ask. It’s been so stressful with Devin not sitting on his ass," she complained with irritation, Sabrina was more curious since the only times Devin would leave the office like that would be to be with her.
This time around, Devin was not with her but was also missing from the office and saying he got into a fight with Robin but where did they meet?
Sabrina desired answers and wished that somebody would just tell her as she asked,
"What is going on?"
"I don’t know but it might involve Martin," Matilda said absentmindedly, Sabrina’s mood felt miserable at the mention of Martin, and her mood sank.
"I can’t believe he did that to me and I don’t remember a thing."
"I believe proof will come out. Just give it time."
Matilda was certain that Robin would get all the proof, for which reason she said so confidently.
From the way he managed to get everything to clear her name just to make Sabrina happy even when she was not aware, what would he not do when Sabrina was directly involved?
Sabrina wanted it too but could not be certain after remembering her conversation with Martin on the phone and how he was proposing marriage.
The guy sucks. "I hope so."
"So how was the scan?" Lizzy tried to give them her attention since sleep was making her eyes heavy.
She was hungry too, for which reason she kept eating but the sleep cleared from her eyes a little when she heard Sabrina’s response,
"Twins."
"Oh my God, we need to celebrate this," Matilda exclaimed since she was not there in the gynae’s office when the scan was done.
Sabrina did not feel as much excited about it.
"I don’t know how to feel about it. Robin and I are already divorced and I’m going to have two children belonging to him."
"What is the difference between one and two," Matilda asked, feeling saddened that Sabrina was not as excited about the news.
Sabrina explained honestly,
"Perhaps I was mentally prepared for one. The two make me afraid. For instance, if there is the slightest complication, then I would be stuck with Robin again."
As Matilda digested her words, it was evident that Robin’s presence made Sabrina uneasy, which could only mean,
"Brina, are you still in love with him?"
Chapter 202: Chapter 202 - Because he listens to me more than you do
"Brina, are you still in love with him?"
Matilda’s innocent question caused Sabrina to drop her cutlery.
She was almost done with the food and sipped water.
Feeling grossly ashamed that all her life she has been in love with only one man who never treasured her, she wished she could lie but did not dare to do so.
"Love is what got me into this mess so I will only do the right thing and that is what is in my head."
Matilda discerned evidently in her statement that though she was still in love with her ex-husband, she was not willing to get back with him because of all she had been through.
"Sabrina, Robin has changed," Matilda dropped her cutlery as well and said to her but Sabrina did not believe it.
Throughout their marriage, Robin trashed her for not giving him an heir and never made any attempt to get back with her until after he knew about her pregnancy, which sent the message that he did not love her but the unborn child.
"No. It’s only because of the baby," Sabrina smiled bitterly and said, Matilda shook her head, knowing it wasn’t true but how could she convey the message without making Sabrina feel as if she was on Robin’s side?
"Then why don’t we test him?" She suggested after thinking carefully about her words.
Sabrina seemed interested in whatever test she meant to propose and asked with interest,
"How?"
Matilda stood up and whispered something in her ears. Sabrina frowned and said,
"But that would take at least six months." She wanted something very fast but Matilda’s suggestion would take not less than six months to confirm.
"But it would still be worth it. You can arrange it in the course of your hospital visits," Matilda smiled and advised since Sabrina was considering her suggestion.
Then again, Sabrina thought through Matilda’s suggestion, saying,
"But he’s always there."
"It’s alright. I will arrange for it but Sabrina, if it works, will you give him a chance?" Matilda asked solemnly, not wanting to waste her time if her efforts were going to be fruitless.
Sabrina massaged her nape thoughtfully.
Robin’s behavior from over a month ago has caused her to ask herself so many questions she was not getting answers to.
"I don’t know. Maybe. Matilda, Robin was very different in our three years of marriage."
Matilda forced a smile. She already knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
"I know but people change. I believe he learned his lessons and it’s evident in the fact that we don’t hear the news or see him with women like he used to."
Sabrina pressed her lips together. It was true that Robin had not been with women like he used to and said that he had not even touched Zayla but what was the assurance that he would stay that way and not go back to who he was after their twins were birthed?
"I want my children to have a perfect family."
"It all lies in your hands. Just give him the chance to prove himself. I’m not advising you to accept him but just don’t drive him away for the sake of the children," Matilda said.
Sabrina was about to ask for Lizzy’s opinion but she had already pushed the plate aside with her head on the dining table, sleeping.
The two women shook their heads, not knowing whether to laugh or pretend that they had not seen.

In the study, Devin was pacing here and there, not knowing how to vent his anger for being fooled all these years.
"Dad, I trusted him so much."
Cobby was nodding his head as he sat on a swivel chair, looking pitifully at this son.
Internally, he was happy for Devin to have realized who Martin was.
"I’m not surprised. He almost destroyed us."
"But where did you get the money? Is it from Robin?" Devin asked, not believing that they had all that money.
"Not exactly," Cobby responded in honesty, Devin asked him,
"Please tell me the truth Dad, if Robin saved my ass, then I need to thank him."
Cobby smiled a little and corrected him, "he saved your sister’s ass."
"No. Martin was my friend. I introduced her to him because I liked him for her. It’s all my fault," Devin accepted the blame, making Cobby feel like he could trust him again.
After five seconds of silence, he said,
"If you promise to not tell your sister, then I will tell you."
Devin instantly sat in front of his father with a serious expression,
"If it must remain a secret, then I won’t tell her."
Cobby nodded his head in agreement once again before he began to explain everything to him.
"My best friend, Ronald, left a gift for Sabrina for saving Robin’s life. Robin knows that Sabrina would not want it so he is keeping it safe."
Devin frowned instantly. If Robin knew that Sabrina saved his life, then that could be the only reason why he was being good to her.
He was quite disappointed that Robin did not love Sabrina the way he thought.
"So, he knows that Sabrina saved his life. No wonder he decided to help."
Cobby knew that he did not understand the meaning of his words, thereby explaining,
"No. Even before he found out, he already told me about it. He told me how he regretted it."
Devin stared at his father and couldn’t hide the jealousy filling his heart at the way he was talking passionately about Robin or was it because he was his best friends’ son?
"Dad, you seem to be closer to Robin than me."
Cobby was a little agitated and spoke in a slightly raised tone,
"Because he listens to me more than you do."
Devin frowned imperceptibly, "What are you implying?"
"You never believed me when I spoke about Mara but he did and he has a lot of proof that she is alive and is indeed Martin’s sister," Cobby revealed, Devin stiffened instantly.
Chapter 203: Chapter 203 - I’m so foolish dad...
"Robin has proof?"
Devin was full of regret for trusting Martin so much against his father’s judgment.
They even got into an argument because of him but he remembered that his father was not the only one who mentioned Mara being Martin’s brother to him.
"Wait, Matilda mentioned it before and I shut her down because I didn’t want Sabrina to hear it. Just a moment."
Devin went out and asked one of the maids to call Matilda for him. She arrived after a few minutes later, asking,
"Devin, you called me?"
"Matilda, you mentioned Mara some time ago," Devin cited directly and Matilda grimaced.
"You won’t believe me."
"Trust me, I will," Devin assured her, she was surprised but then again, after all that Martin had done, Devin would be a big fool to continue trusting him.
"She’s alive. I saw her that night at the club but I had no idea that she paid for my drink to be spiked," Matilda said seriously, Devin asked her,
"Have you told anyone?"
Matilda was a little nervous but did not want to keep secrets and began confessing,
"The blonde woman’s picture that was sent to you that day was me when I went to seek Robin’s help because you won’t believe me."
"That night at the party when you saw me giving something to Robin, it was a thank you note."
"For what?" Devin asked, feeling betrayed that Matilda had done all that behind his back but after Matilda explained further, he could not help being ashamed.
"He is the one who cleared my name but he did it for Sabrina, just so she wouldn’t worry about me. Mara was at that party and that food was indeed poisoned. I believe Robin didn’t tell you because he knew you wouldn’t believe it."
Matilda lowered her head while she continued speaking to avoid Devin’s disappointed look on her but at least Cobby’s little smile at her words encouraged her to keep talking.
"All those shreds of evidence you saw at the door, he sent them to you because you didn’t have the resources or weren’t open-minded enough."
"Robin did that?" Devin was shocked that all this while, he had done a lot and was doing far more than anyone expected of him.
"He has been watching out for Sabrina ever since he saw Martin close to her. He has always loved Sabrina but it took him very long to realize it."
Cobby was amazed to know that someone else had all this information close to him and yet, he was not aware of it.
As such, he could not help asking, "You know all this then why didn’t you tell me?"
"I didn’t know how you’d take it and since Devin trusted Martin so much, I thought that maybe you liked him too," Matilda explained and Devin felt ashamed to be the one preventing things from happening.
Matilda would have told Sabrina about Mara that day if he had not stopped her and it would have made Sabrina wary of Martin.
Devin carried all the blame on his head, as the realization settled on his shoulders.
"So, Martin is the one protecting Mara?" He asked curiously, Matilda responded,
"I guess."
Devin was so furious. If he had this information before, he would have secretly followed Martin to his house or done worse things to him.
"Why didn’t you tell me before? I would have killed him when I went there."
"You went there?" Matilda asked in shock, Devin nodded his head in agreement before fury rested in his eyes, he raged,
"I only gave him some punches. The bastard. He was just using me to get close to Sabrina."
"Please, no one must tell Sabrina this, she’s pregnant with twins and we don’t want complications," Matilda advised.
"Twins?" Devin asked, surprised. He was going to be an uncle to twins and God knows how he was going to spoil his nieces or nephews.
"She just found out today," Matilda added and since Cobby already know, he did not look surprised, saying to Matilda,
"Thank you, Matilda, and since you know that Mara is still alive, you have to be careful."
"I will."
After Matilda left, Devin was so devastated, he could not stop cursing himself.
"I’m so foolish dad, I should have believed you and none of this would have happened."
Cobby comforted him. It was enough that he learned from his mistakes and that was sufficient for Cobby.
"We learn new things every day son, you should know me by now that I don’t hold grudges," Cobby assured him and Devin was pleased.
That was the good thing about his father. He had a soft heart like that of Sabrina.
"So, Robin is the one funding our trust fund?" Devin asked and Cobby elaborated on the agreement,
"It’s like a loan."
"He would take it back?" Devin frowned a little since Robin seemed like he wanted to do anything for Sabrina.
"We haven’t had that arrangement but he doesn’t plan to go easy on Martin. He just needs my permission before allowing the video to go viral," Cobby revealed, Devin smirked.
He protected his former best friend for so long, trusting him blindly but this time around, he was going to spearhead the destruction coming the latter’s way since he already removed the hedge of protection around him.
"It should. That way, we could have everything back when the case goes to court. The netizens would already be sympathizing with Sabrina."
"I think you are right," Cobby agreed.
Devin recalled the beginning of their discussion and asked curiously,
"So, what gift did his father leave Sabrina with?"
Cobby was a little reluctant to let it out and warned him again,
"Devin, you should keep all this a secret."
Devin shook his head but understood the reason why his father found it hard to trust him.
"Dad, I just lost my best friend today so who would I tell?"
"Two hundred pieces of diamond worth trillions of dollars," Cobby revealed, Devin’s jaws dropped,
"What?"
Chapter 204: Chapter 204 – Matters of love can be very complicated
Cobby was not surprised about how shocked Devin was.
Even he was equally shocked upon hearing about it the first time.
"Yes. Robin’s father loved Sabrina like a daughter. I just never thought he would go to that extent and was also surprised when I heard about it."
"So, when do you plan to tell her?" Devin asked after recovering from the shock.
He could now understand the reason why Sabrina endured all those years with Robin.
It was because of the love she had for his father.
Devin was sure that if not for Zayla’s appearance, she would have remained with Robin irrespective of how he treated her.
"Robin would tell her about it at the right time for which reason he doesn’t want to touch the diamonds. Only she should determine what it should be used for."
Devin bobbed his head in agreement. The use of the diamonds should be based on Sabrina’s prerogative and nobody else’s.
"That makes sense but I doubt that he would take the money back. He seems like he’s ready to do anything for Sabrina. I don’t know why I never saw it before," Devin said with regret.
Robin must have been a jerk but he indeed loved Sabrina. His problem was the desperation that gave him away to deception.
It was even evident at the time Devin picked up Sabrina at the court that Robin loved her. If not, why would he put up such a fight back then?
"That is why I always tell you to be more open-minded. Robin was very young when he lost his mother and that was when he began getting close to women."
"He was quiet about it so no one knew that it hit him so hard until it was too late."
"As he grew up, it changed to something else. It was the reason why his father and I agreed to get Sabrina married to him."
"We thought that if he had a motherly figure in his life, he would change."
Cobby smiled bitterly. It wasn’t only Ronald who loved Sabrina but he also loved Robin very much like a son and wanted to see him getting better.
"It wasn’t about the business. Ronald and I were too close for that. He would easily save my business and I would equally save his if I had the means with no strings attached."
"We only made up that business ordeal to prick both Sabrina and Robin’s conscience," Cobby revealed the whole truth about the forced marriage arrangement.
Robin was already broken before reaching his teenage years and it got worse when he tried to build himself with women.
"And Robin kept making her suffer because he thought that Zayla saved his life and should have been his wife," Devin put the pieces together whilst shaking his head out of pity for Robin.
"When did you find that out?" Cobby asked, not knowing that that piece of the puzzle existed.
"Today," Devin affirmed with a sad countenance.
He wished he could change back the hands of time. He would have been open-minded and even Matilda would not have kept so many things from him.
He explained to clear his father’s puzzled look,
"Everything he did to Sabrina was to make her suffer for coming between him and Zayla and for his father forcefully sending Zayla away."
"I feel pity for him. Maybe if Sabrina had not kept it a secret, things would have been different and she would not have suffered for nothing."
Cobby was nodding his head in agreement but Sabrina’s reasons for keeping it secret were genuine.
It wasn’t right to make Robin love her because she saved his life. That would be like blackmail to her and not true love.
"Matters of love can be very complicated," Cobby said thoughtfully, Devin recalled something else and said,
"But Zayla is pregnant for him."
Cobby shook his head. "I doubt it."
He was certain that if Zayla was indeed pregnant for Robin like she said, Robin would not have allowed her father’s company to go down the drain.
Robin might have told him but he suspected that Robin was up to something and must have found out more in that letter than he revealed.
"Dad, is there something else I should know?" Devin asked seriously, not wanting to be kept in the dark concerning the things happening in his family anymore.
Cobby chuckled and revealed,
"Robin mentioned making it up to Sabrina on her birthday. I think we should just wait and see."
Devin recalled something and equally said,
"That reminds me. I perchance went to his small bedroom in the office and there were just pictures of him and Sabrina. There were no pictures of Zayla."
Cobby smiled, already sensing trouble.
"Robin is so full of surprises but for now, I will inform him to let the video out."
"Sabrina should see it too," Devin insisted, Cobby agreed.
"Then we should send it to her now."
"I agree," Devin said and forwarded the video to Sabrina through WhatsApp.
She and Matilda had just succeeded in getting Lizzy to her bedroom when her phone beeped.
When she saw a video from Devin, she almost ignored it at the thought that it might be one of those funny videos he sends occasionally to make her smile and to view it when she goes to her room.
She changed her mind when she saw the message pinned to the video.
’Martin doesn’t know that we have this so it’s for your eyes only until it goes viral tomorrow.’
Sabrina quickly clicked the video and the sound got Matilda interested, she inched closer to watch.
By the time they finished watching, Sabrina was as white as a ghost, as Matilda said,
"It’s a good thing that Devin got proof. Perhaps it was the reason he hasn’t been in the office like Lizzy said."
"But why would Martin do this?" Sabrina asked, not able to understand Martin’s heartlessness, adding,
"And he’s telling me to marry him." She was so furious and regretted ever being nice to him. Matilda was more vexed.
"He must be mad to say that to you."
Sabrina thoughtfully went to check the original video to hear Martin’s words once again when she saw the video of her father’s meeting with the press.
Worry nudged her heart and she said, "Why would father say that? We don’t have that kind of money."
Matilda was equally disturbed and suggested,
"Maybe, you should ask him."
Chapter 205: Chapter 205 – Do it Mara, it’s my ass on fire and not yours.
Sabrina took Matilda’s suggestion and went to the study at the same time Devin was coming out, not surprised to see her in front of the door, right when she was about to knock.
"Brina, have you seen the video I sent to you?"
Devin was watching her appearance carefully when asking the question.
Sabrina let out a smile before replacing it with a curious frown,
"Yes, and why did Daddy make a promise he can’t fulfill? You know that we don’t have that kind of money."
She sounded a little irritated though she had no idea of where and how she was going to get that kind of money.
Devin chuckled, wishing he could tell her the truth about the source of the money to encourage her to look past Robin’s errors and forgive him but then again, he had to respect Robin’s wishes.
Letting out a flawless smile, he informed her,
"Well, we do. It’s been there for long but he kept it secret, so we won’t be lazy. I was equally worried before but he just confirmed it to me now."
He was happy to see relief in her eyes due to the response he gave before it was replaced with a frown and she asked again,
"Then why did I have to marry Robin back then when the business was not doing well?"
"Oh, that was before. You know that Dad recovered his lost money. It was the reason why he was begging you to return and you refused," Devin tactically explained, Sabrina smiled at the recollection.
Her father was very smart to have hidden that money if not, they would have indeed been lazy.
"But we have to take back everything from Martin," she said with coldness in her eyes.
She did not know how to go about it but wished that Devin would sort it out since Martin was his best friend.
Sabrina was very eager to retrieve everything that Devin was sure if he had told her that Robin could help, she would have agreed to ask for his help and was also happy that she did not blame him for it as he expected.
"We will. I already destroyed one of the documents." Wait. You have one, right?" He asked seriously, Sabrina was confused, not knowing what he was up to but responded,
"Yes."
"And it shows in the video that it was just two of them you signed so if I destroyed one?" Devin asked and left the rest of the thinking for her to do.
"Then it means there is no evidence that I signed off the shares but what if he has soft copies?" Sabrina asked curiously.
Devin thought for a while and said,
"I will speak to a lawyer about it tomorrow to know what to do."
Saying lawyer, he meant Robin but termed it that way because he did not want Sabrina to know.
***
The drive to Martin’s mansion was faster because of the speed he used.
Never has he felt so afraid in his life before.
Devin did not sound like he was joking and neither did Robin sound so either.
Mara has also shown profound skills in covering up her tracks so Martin did not know who to believe at this moment, making it even more scary.
Reaching his mansion, he went to Mara’s room without going to change up or clean up first.
The maids were horrified at the sight of him but it seemed that Martin had not even looked himself in the mirror.
Even if he did so with rearview mirrors, his attention must have only been on the problem at hand, forgetting all the pain from his injuries.
"God Martin, who did this to you?" Mara was horrified and asked from the bed she laid when the door opened without a knock.
The shocked look on her face forced Martin to check himself in the mirror before he understood her reason for acting like that.
He explained it to lighten her mood,
"Robin and Devin, all because of you, Mara."
Mara felt terrible upon seeing him like that because of her.
When she was coming up with the plan to destroy Sabrina, she had no idea that those two men around her would cause trouble.
She only felt that Sabrina would carry all the blame and shame, only to realize that the man she loved was paying the price for everything including taking the beatings for it.
"I’m sorry. Let me get Anna to clean your wounds."
Martin shook his head since the bruises on his face did not matter to him.
"What is more important is ensuring that everything was cleared. Both Martin and Robin made mention of me drugging Sabrina. They looked and sounded certain."
Mara was conflicted by the news. Pete never let her down. If he said it was cleared, then it was cleared.
"They might just be playing the mind game," she said thoughtfully but Martin knew Devin better than anyone and it did not seem like he was lying.
Also, Robin did not look like he was joking.
"Call your hacker and still be sure," he instructed, not willing to leave room for future problems.
If there was even the slightest possibility that everything that happened between him and Sabrina was captured on CCTV, then he was not nearing his office until the news died down.
"I confirmed with him earlier," Mara said with certainty, afraid of calling Pete due to what happened earlier about her pregnancy.
Now she did not know how to tell Martin either because she would also be revealing that she was not paralyzed.
"Call him again. I want to speak to him," Martin insisted, not willing to make himself a scapegoat.
Mara trembled and her face was void of color. "That isn’t a good idea."
She had to allow time to pass after the way Pete left with so much anger but Martin was not taking no for an answer.
"Do it, Mara, it’s my ass on fire and not yours."
