Ch. 246..250: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 246-250

Chapter 246: Chapter 246 – Give me your hand

A day before the party

"Martin, I agree with you that we should leave New York City for a long time," Mara said.

The company was in shambles and the police were still looking for Martin.

Their lives were in jeopardy and Martin could only step out of the mansion under disguise and a false identity.

Besides, if they left, Mara would have Martin all to herself and would be able to tell him about her pregnancy.

To her dismay, Martin said,

"I changed my mind. I’m not leaving without Sabrina."

For the past few days, he always looked frustrated, unable to get over his childhood crush but unknown to him, his words were tearing Mara’s heart into shreds.

"Are you mad? Do you want to die?" Mara could not hold it in anymore but Martin was even more determined since at first, he could watch Sabrina from afar but with the police on his tail and all, it became impossible for him to get the opportunity to secretly spy on Sabrina and that was killing him.

As Martin imagines his life without Sabrina, just like the years she was married to Robin, he cannot see himself going through it again.

"Yes, I am mad. I am crazy and I will die if I don’t have Sabrina. All my life I waited for her. She can only be mine," Martin kept yelling like the mad person he was, grinding the remaining pieces of Mara’s heart which he had already broken.

"How will you get her?" Mara asked him, knowing that it was impossible since the only hedge between Sabrina and Robin was going to be removed.

Kennedy already informed her that he was waiting for money from Robin to leave NYC with his daughter, also confessing that Zayla’s pregnancy for Robin was faked.

She knew that if someone with resolve like Kenndy had given up, then it was time for her to do the same.

"I intend to kidnap her and beg her until she agrees to be mine," Martin let out his plans, Mara felt like her already broken heart was going to cease working completely.

"She will hate you more and she’s pregnant for Robin," Mara reminded him but Martin did not care if all he got was Sabrina’s hate.

He wanted her and that was that.

"I don’t care. It’s her child too and we shall take care of him or her together."

"Martin, please, let’s go. We’ve already lost too much. Zayla’s father said that Robin promised to give Zayla money and after that, they would leave the country for good before Robin finds out that she was not pregnant."

Martin stared at her with shock.

"You mean that she’s not pregnant?"

"Exactly," Mara confirmed, thinking it would discourage Martin but seeing that Robin stood at an even greater advantage because the only person Sabrina hated so much was Zayla, Martin was even more desperate.

"I want Sabrina and I will bring her before we go," he said with confidence.

He was not going to allow Robin to win this time.

Mara could not convince him and knew he would end up in trouble so she picked up her phone and sent a text message to her new spy,

’Keep an eye on Martin. Don’t let anything happen to him.’

When Martin walked out of Mara’s room, he made a few calls with a strange number and got some men on his team, ready for the party the next day.

He and his men arrived at the venue very early in the morning and when a delivery van packed to deliver different kinds of foodstuff, one of Martin’s crew joined the people removing the items from the car, blending in as a delivery boy since he already knew the uniform they wore, and made one to look exactly like it.

He used the opportunity to find the secret exit used by the staff and used it to usher in the remaining two men.

They waited until the party started in the evening with Martin communicating with them at the car park.

He gave them one last motivation.

"Like I said, you shall all have 100k each but whoever can bring her, would get an extra 100k to make it to 200k."

The motivation was like honey, dripping down their throat when they got to work. Throughout the event, they could do nothing because of Zayla’s incident and only got the opportunity when Robin went to the general’s table.

Martin thought things were smooth until Robin returned just as Sabrina was about to give in.

He kept cursing Robin in his heart for making things so hard for him but was not expecting to see Devin at the car park when one of his men came to take the gift.

Knowing how violent Devin was, he took to his heels and was surprised that Devin was chasing after him.

However, he thought that he stood at a good advantage because of the distance he created between them but that confidence broke when he heard from the distance,

"It’s better you stop running or you’ll get hurt."

Martin had no intention to stop, knowing that Devin would get physical and was not expecting it when excruciating pain, spread through his head the moment something hard hit it, making him dizzy to not see the car coming and his face hit the side of a car door, he rolled and fell on the floor.

Martin knew that Devin would either get him arrested or hand him over to the general to deal with as he did to the guy who messed up his daughter’s life with Mara’s instruction.

Feeling like his end had come, he saw Devin from his blurry eyes a distance away, who had slowed down from exhaustion.

The car door opened, and a man said,

"Give me your hand."

Martin did not know who the man was and was afraid that he might even be working for Robin.

However, Devin was already close and the man had not stepped out of the car.

Only his hand was stretched out to him.

Chapter 247: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 247 – Robin’s promises to Sabrina on her birthday

"Mara sent me," the man said hastily and opened the back door, stretching his hand to Martin again, with his leg on the accelerator.

Martin was surprised to hear that Mara sent the man and quickly lifted himself, grabbing hold of the man’s hand.

Pain seared through his body from where the wheel spanner hit and his face from hitting the car door.

With force, he was shoved into the back seat since the door to the back was the closest to him.

When Devin saw what was happening ahead that the car which he thought to have crashed into Martin, was rather there to help him, he began to pick up his pace, panting heavily from exhaustion.

The doors were not closed but because Devin was close, the driver stepped on the accelerator, the car sped away but Devin was not ready to give up and even with no car and other drivers not willing to stop because they were afraid it might be the case of a feud between some mafia group or something, he jumped onto the car and grabbed the door before it closed.

Devin was hanging on the door of the speeding car, releasing punches with one hand as Martin screamed at the driver,

"Do something."

The driver turned the steering wheel to the right and due to the speed, Devin lost his balance, going down with the car door due to his grip on it.

He sustained a few bruises but kept cursing under his breath,

"Fuck you, Martin, I will find you again."

Devin was kicking the air as people stared at him like he was crazy, whilst he embarked on the long journey back to the hotel on his feet after memorizing the plate number of the car.

When he reached where the car was parked first, he picked up the wheel spanner and luckily met the owner of it at the entrance of the hotel, where he returned it with an apology, since the owner was driving out.

He went to the washroom to put his appearance together before going back to the party.

All the three spies with Martin had been caught and that made him feel a little better.

****

"Dear one, I will give you your birthday gift later but shall we dance?"

Despite all the dangers, Robin was determined to make her birthday worthwhile but it was still dependent on her.

Sabrina was reluctant, not wanting to make him feel that she was going to be his wife again.

It wasn’t just because of Zayla but the brutality with which Robin treated her that night, almost turning her into a nanny for Zayla.

Sabrina had forgiven him but the memories were still fresh on her mind since everything that happened was just a few months ago.

"Robin, there is a lot we have to talk about."

"I know and there is so much I have to tell you but for your birthday party, can you pretend that our lives are problem-free and we were never even married? Let’s just say, we are very good friends," Robin said, just to get her to the dance floor.

Sabrina welcomed the idea somehow since she was eager to forget the past.

To see Robin as just a friend and not her ex-husband sounded like a brilliant idea.

"Just for tonight?" she asked seriously, Robin responded with confirmation,

"Just for tonight."

Sabrina smiled and locked her hand with his, and he led her to the dance floor.

Everyone dancing before stopped and the gazes glued on them, as Robin pulled her close, not leaving any space between them.

Sabrina’s heart was beating very fast, wondering if she made the right decision by agreeing to Robin’s suggestion.

The things they were doing after their divorce, were things they never did in their marriage.

This was the reason why she felt as if she was living her daydreams of childhood and youthful days when she fell in love with Robin.

"Mr. Jewel and his ex-wife look good together. They should get married again."

The gossip began from the audience and Sabrina was becoming uncomfortable.

"It’s true. They are meant for each other."

"They are so perfect together."

As the comments were ongoing with Robin’s equally erratic heartbeat and insatiable desire, he had no idea that the comments were getting into Sabrina until she tried to pull away from him.

He held her tighter to his chest, afraid to be hit with cold without her warmth.

"Please don’t."

Sabrina was trying hard to control her emotions and her body’s betrayal by trying to keep her mind focused on the music which was also too romantic.

What she did not expect was when Robin went down on one knee, looking all elegant and breathtaking.

She would have thought he was going to propose but since there was no ring, she did not know how to feel about it.

Her life was at a standstill at the moment because some questions were still left unanswered.

They needed to have a very serious talk before she could decide on what to do but Robin was taking the bull by the horns, seizing every opportunity to immerse himself more and more deeply into her life.

"Sabrina, I have no one to blame for everything but myself. I was just desperate to please the woman who I thought saved my life but it was never my intention to hurt you."

Sabrina could feel that the words were coming from his heart and his expression was equally serious.

This was another vulnerable side of Robin Sabrina had never seen before and it brought tears to her eyes.

"I know that there is still a lot of pain in your heart because of everything that happened but I believe that you already forgave me as you said."

Robin tried to blink back the tears but his eyes were glassy and his voice teary.

"Sabrina, I admit that I want to marry you again and right all the wrongs but I also understand that you have a lot going on emotionally."

"However, in the presence of everyone present here, I promise to be there for you at all times. I promise to be your best friend, and I promise to never make you shed a tear unless it’s tears of joy."

The audience was mesmerized by such sweet words, including the general and Cobby.

Even Lizzy and Matilda could not help but feel their heart taking a different rhythm.

They never thought that Robin could be so romantic.

"Dear one, I also promise that I would never allow any woman in my life again except you, even if you don’t marry me again. I promise to be who or whatever makes you happy."

Everything going on was being reported live and a lot of people were excited for them, especially after hearing their story.

Those who were there for business were disappointed because Robin had not given anyone attention at the party except his ex-wife.

However, Sabrina had not made her intentions known, whilst looking at the man on his knees with tear-filled eyes, wondering if he was the same person she lived with for three good years.

There were so many tears in the eyes of the audience, as they heard his words but Sabrina had not given any response, whether good or bad, only shedding tears.

When Robin rose to his feet, he did not ask for permission, and pressed his lips on her forehead, as everyone began to applaud them.

At the same time, Devin walked in and his lips stretched into a thin smile, though he had no idea what was going on.

Chapter 248: Chapter 248 – I hope you don’t die this time, Martin

Martin got home, feeling depressed but remembered that he had to thank Mara for his life, thereby going to her room despite knowing that they were not on the same terms at the moment.

Indeed, she looked upset with her gaze pinned on the television as if she had not seen him.

Martin could not blame her, feeling it was because she did not understand the things of love, for which reason she was like that.

Then again, he wondered if his shielding her from all her evil deeds did them any good.

This whole thing was just because of Mara, even drugging Sabrina to sign the documents.

If the video did not exist, he could have gotten away with it but then, things got worse and his chances with Sabrina were ruined.

However, as for today, he only escaped narrowly from Devin, thanks to Mara for sending the man to help him.

When he entered Mara’s room, she did not look at him but knew by the sound of the door that it was him.

She spoke to Martin without a glance, as her eyes were glued on the LED screen in her room.

"You were parked and seated at the car park since morning. Are you saying that you were not watching the live broadcast on the entertainment channel?"

Martin knew she was talking about the events of the party but was not interested in anything since she would not be in support.

Things were better when they supported each other but whenever the other person was against something, things flew in unwelcoming directions.

"Mara, I only came to thank you. I’m going to my room now."

Martin was already at the door, as if he was afraid of his sister when Mara spoke emotionlessly,

"Martin, did you not see what Robin did to Zayla and her father?"

Martin was upset that Zayla and her father were foolish enough to depend on Robin for money to leave the country.

He and Mara’s company might be down but they still had enough money invested and could easily bounce back as soon as the news died down.

Martin was nothing like Kennedy and Zayla and did not want to be compared with them.

"I saw it and he might even do worse to them but I don’t care. I’m not giving up on Sabrina and I’m not leaving without her," he yelled.

There was nothing more to lose since they both already lost the company Mara promised to sign over to him.

Her clause to the condition failed both of them and Martin felt like he now had his freedom.

If he had known that the company would go down, he would not have even desired it in the first place.

Perhaps, he should have started something different but that did not cross his mind at that moment.

"Maybe you have not seen the latest one," Mara said and showed him the video on the phone since the one being broadcast had moved on to something else.

Martin had indeed not seen that and he could feel his heart being torn into pieces.

Without him being in the office and remaining at home, all he could think about was Sabrina and there was no distraction since he lost his best friend and kept all other pals at a distance because of Mara.

Seeing Robin dancing so intimately with Sabrina, then making promises to her and kissing her on the forehead, all of which she did not resist, Martin felt his legs weak and he sank to the floor.

Mara turned her face from the LED screen and focused on him, happy to get the reaction she was getting.

"Please forget her Martin, let go. I would not be surprised that he even has your spies as we speak," Mara hinted but only unknowingly, aggravated Martin’s annoyance and he yelled,

"Just shut up, Mara."

Mara knew that she got him and did not intend to stop until her message registered deep inside his heart, even if all he thought about her was a sibling.

"I love you, Martin. All we have is each other. Please don’t do this to us. You know that I can’t live without you. You are my legs, my hands, eyes, ears, and everything. Should anything happen to you, it would be the end of my life."

Martin was slightly guilty, feeling that if he had gotten caught by Devin and sent to prison, then who would be there to take care of Mara and manage all the money they had in secret investment accounts?

Then again, all his life has been for Mara and it was time for him to fight for what he wanted.

"I’m sorry Mara but I can’t leave without her. I know that you need me so I will be careful but please have the patience for me to get her over."

Mara tasted a salty liquid in her mouth, which she realized was from the tears streaming down her cheeks with some making their way into her mouth.

"How are you going to do that, Martin? You were almost caught by Devin," Mara cried.

She could not bear to lose the only man she loved because of Sabrina, who had her family, and even Robin.

"I will find another way," Martin said with resolve, not willing to give up.

Mara shook her head, as bitterness gathered in her heart.

"I hope you don’t die this time, Martin. Robin is trying every means to get her back and he is looking for us too. The spies are still around and you are going in and out of the mansion," she pointed out.

"That is because it was all your fault. If you had not done what you did to Sabrina when you were both young, I would have befriended her without hiding my identity."

"I had to withdraw because Robin knew about you and wanted to expose me. It’s all your fault," Martin yelled his frustration at her, Mara cried some more...

Chapter 249: Chapter 249 - I want to thank you for saving my life

Mara’s pain was not because of Martin’s harsh words alone.

A greater part of her pain was directed at Sabrina. She smiled but it was a bitter one.

The only way to keep Sabrina away from Martin was to kill either of them and Mara was not ready to lose Martin, which meant that Sabrina must go to an early grave.

"Martin, I’m sorry. I was just afraid that you would no longer have time for me if she came into our lives, just as you are doing now."

Martin was irritated and had no desire to comfort her. Riding to his feet, he spoke in annoyance,

"Let me get some painkillers and freshen up. I need to plan my next move. As soon as I get her over, we shall leave immediately."

"Okay," Mara nodded her head and said, as an evil intent crossed her mind.

***

At the party, Robin was moving things to a close but people were still sending Sabrina gifts. He did not allow her to touch any of them, leaving them in the hands of a trusted waiter.

The main purpose of the party was achieved and receiving gifts was not one of them.

The end of the party seemed to be the most interesting with more people dancing and drinking.

Even Daniel and Lizzy were busy dancing, the same as Devin and Matilda.

Cobby and the General were the first to exit since they were not interested in so much entertainment.

"Dear one, how was your night?" Robin asked Sabrina, still happy for the fact that she hadn’t done anything to push him away but was rather excited all through, especially after the exit of Zayla and her father.

"Well, better than I thought but what do you plan on doing with Zayla?" Sabrina asked and Robin smiled.

At first, he was adamant but since she witnessed everything earlier, Robin went on to say,

"Torture her before sending her to prison after trial. Do you have any requests?"

"No," Sabrina shook her head.

To torture and send Zayla to prison was enough for her for all of Zayla’s lies and deception.

"So, you promised to go on two dates with me," Robin reminded her and she turned red.

At that moment, all she perceived were the impossibilities, which she leveraged, not knowing that Robin had a plan.

"Robin, you tricked me."

"Does it matter? We need to talk anyway," Robin pressed on, not wanting to take no for an answer since it was time for them to redefine their relationship.

"Where is the venue?" Sabrina asked thoughtfully since she had never gone on a date with Robin before. What a shame!

"At the villa. I have something to show you there. Your birthday gifts are pending too, and I was also wondering..."

Hearing the villa, Sabrina was a little disappointed, since she wanted to experience a real date but when he added that he had something to show her, she swallowed her worry and also realized that he hadn’t concluded his sentence, thereby asking,

"What?"

"Will it be okay with you if I move back to the villa?"

Robin asked carefully, wondering what he would have done if he had given the villa to Zayla. The bitch would have sold it by now.

"It’s no longer mine," Sabrina hinted with a little frown, Robin chuckled,

"You know that it’s still in your name. Grandma never changed the name on it."

"I don’t have use for it," she declined.

Robin wanted the opportunity to right all the wrongs so after thinking through everything and thinking of a place to live, he chose to live where everything started.

Over the day, he could spend every day making the corrections.

"I will move back to the villa but can you help me to put things into perspective there?"

Sabrina was not liking this. It was as if Robin was slowly tying himself around her.

"Robin..."

"We are good friends, remember?" He quickly cut her off and asked, fearing that she would refuse.

Sabrina took a deep breath and said,

"Okay. I will see you tomorrow evening."

Robin shook his head since he no longer had any excuse to be away from her.

"No. I will check on you in the morning before I pick you up in the evening."

Sabrina was a little uneasy with the time, thinking about how and when she had to return home to prepare for work in her pregnant state.

She was nearing her second trimester and energy was slowly kicking in my then,

"We shall return to the mansion, right? I have work on Monday."

Robin smiled bitterly, wondering why she still wanted to be away from him so much but said truthfully,

"Can’t you, leave from the villa? You know that we have a lot to talk about."

"We shall not share the same room," Sabrina said in a warning tone, Robin quickly nodded his head, though he wished they could.

"Done. Let me drop you home."

"Okay."

When Robin stood up, he said to Devin, who was returning from the dance floor with Lizzy,

"Daniel has the address of where the people have been sent. You can meet me there after dropping the women at home."

"Okay," Devin smiled and agreed.

Robin snapped a few pictures with Sabrina and the rest of the family before they left the party when some people were still warming up.

Whilst waiting for the valet to bring his car, Robin said to Sabrina, "I want to thank you for saving my life. You never gave me the chance to do so."

A sad smile crossed Sabrina’s face before she responded,

"It’s nothing and I would have preferred that you didn’t know about it."

Robin did not agree with her. "Don’t you think it’s unfair to think that way?"

"Sometimes it’s the best. It helped me to know the kind of person you are," Sabrina said directly, Robin asked her,

"What kind of person am I?"

Sabrina smiled and stared him in the eyes. "I will tell you tomorrow if you don’t make me upset."

The next moment, somebody screamed Robin’s name, and before he could respond, two pairs of feminine hands wrapped around him.

"Robin, I finally found you again."

Chapter 250: Chapter 250 - For as long as it takes

With a slight difficulty, Robin peeled the hands wrapped around him, his eyes filled with resentment, as he glared at the woman in front of him.

Sabrina was standing by his side so he could not see her facial expression and the valet had also arrived, giving him his car remote control.

"Who are you and what do you want?"

Disappointment flashed in the woman’s eyes and Sabrina was equally confused because she remembered the said woman from Robin’s college days.

He was in his final year whilst Sabrina was in her first year.

Shandra Kane was the most popular girl in college and there were rumors at one point that Robin dated Shandra before they both graduated from college.

Sabrina had no idea about how their relationship continued after they graduated from college because Robin from then was learning about how to manage the Jewels Company Limited when Sabrina was in her second year.

"Robin, you don’t remember me?" Shandra was awed.

Sabrina was not surprised that she still looked very attractive like her college days when all the popular guys wanted to date her.

Robin was not even looking at the woman who was trying to get his attention and his irritation was only growing since he had to go to the warehouse where Zayla, her father, and the three men Martin sent were held.

"I don’t have time. If I know you, I won’t pretend."

He collected the key from the valet and was about to beckon Sabrina when Shandra spoke with consternation,

"Robin, you don’t remember Shandra Kane anymore? You got busy with business after school but so did I and my father’s Casino was in Las Vegas, for which reason I moved there too."

Robin remembered clearly now. Those were his youthful days when they would bet on who would be able to have the most beautiful woman and Robin always won because of his looks, intelligence, and charisma in sports.

He was very popular in college and all the girls wanted to date him, which was fun then but remembering it now only filled his heart with regret since Shandra was one of those girls.

Her father was a billionaire with chains of casinos.

There were even rumors that he was a mafia kingpin but Robin never took those seriously.

"Oh, it’s you," he said with a blank expression, Shandra felt like she just saw a ghost and Robin continued to say,

"You’ve changed but I have to go."

He grabbed Sabrina’s arm and was leading her down the stairs to the car when Shandra caught up to them.

"Robin, my father opened a new branch here in New York with one of the clubs. I heard that you used to frequent that place. Which is how I was able to find you again and I was also thinking we could have a partnership."

One of the businesses Robin never invested in was entertainment for reasons he could not place a finger on.

"Sha..Shan..." Robin forgot the name Shandra just mentioned and since he was in a hurry, added,

"Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I’m not here to discuss business but to celebrate my wife. You can book an appointment with my secretary."

For some reason, Sabrina did not remind him about the ’ex’ to correct him because she was uncomfortable with Shandra and did not want her close to Robin because she carried an ex-title from college.

Sabrina could also not feel that she was being selfish because, if they were going to be co-parenting, she did not want another woman in the lives of their children.

Robin opened the door for Sabrina and she sat before he closed it for her.

Walking to the driver’s side, Shandra blocked his path and this time, Robin was upset.

He opened his mouth, and at the same time Shandra said,

"Robin, she is your ex-wife."

Robin glared at her and snarled, "I said, she is my wife. Now out of my way."

Shandra’s eyes were wide from shock like saucers since she had never seen Robin like this before.

Robin never proposed to her but whenever people called them a couple, he did not refuse either.

He was still in communication with Chandra until he got married to Sabrina and that was when every communication broke between them.

Robin walked past her and sat in the driver’s seat.

When he pressed the start button and switched on the headlights, Shandra was standing in front of the car so he called one of the security on the phone to move her away.

It did not take up to twenty seconds before security got there but when they tried to guide Shandra away from the front of the car, she shoved them away and walked to her car.

Robin stepped on the accelerator and drove away but Sabrina could not hold her peace.

"Shandra was your girlfriend in college."

Robin was quiet and Sabrina thought he would not answer before he said,

"I never had an agreement with her or anything and our friendship was in the past. You are my future, Dear one," his voice softened at the latter end.

After what Zayla did to him, Robin did not want any woman close to him anymore.

"You make it sound as if we are still married. Did you forget..." Sabrina was going to mention that they were divorced but Robin did not want to hear that word and cut in,

"I haven’t forgotten but I don’t think you’ve forgotten the promises I made to you tonight. Even if you don’t believe them, I will still honor them," he said solemnly, Sabrina’s heart was moved but she was still uneasy, knowing the kind of person he was.

"How long will you be able to stay away from women?" she asked seriously, not caring that he was not looking at her since he was driving.

Robin stole a glance at her, wishing that she could see through his heart.

It would have saved him a lot of stress because he was one person who had never done sweet talking before.

"For as long as it takes," he said seriously.
