Ch. 371..375: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 371-375

Chapter 371: Chapter 371 - Don’t make me slap you through the phone

Devin and Matilda arrived late at the penthouse, only to find a surprise waiting for Devin.

As he parked his car and went to open the door for Matilda, his eyes were immediately drawn to a brand-new Bugatti la Voiture Noire parked in the garage.

While opening the door for Matilda, Devin couldn’t help but be captivated by the strange yet stunning car. As soon as she stepped out, he took her hand and they walked towards it together.

"Where did this come from?" he asked curiously, feeling both attracted to the car and aware that it wasn’t his.

As he looked around, Devin couldn’t help but wonder how someone had managed to sneak into his garage and decode his security codes. It was a bit unsettling to think about.

"Why don’t we take a look inside? It’s very nice," Matilda encouraged him, though he frowned slightly.

"But it’s not ours. I should call the security company," Devin said, reaching for his phone in the pocket of his tuxedo. However, Matilda stopped him by holding his hand.

"Why don’t you open it and see? There might be something of interest in there. Perhaps a note or something," she suggested.

Devin couldn’t shake off his suspicion when she mentioned a note. He wondered if she knew something about the car that he didn’t. Nevertheless, he decided to follow her suggestion.

Opening the driver’s seat door, Devin discovered a beautifully decorated blue box with a blue ribbon. He glanced at Matilda before taking the box and opening it.

The contents brought tears to his eyes. Inside, he found a car key, the car documents in his name, and a short letter that read,

’Babe, I don’t know how to thank you for all the joy and happiness you’ve brought into my life. I just hope that this would be a start.’

A tear rolled down Devin’s cheek as he looked at Matilda through tear-filled eyes. She said, "I love you so much, Devin. I just thought you should know."

Overwhelmed with emotion, Devin dropped the box and pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly.

"This car is worth nothing less than 18 million dollars. Why did you have to empty your bank account? Did you forget that you had to set up your business?" Devin scolded her, but his heart was filled with joy.

He knew he could afford the car, but the fact that Matilda had gone to such lengths to get it for him conveyed a message of her unwavering love and devotion. It touched his heart deeply.

Matilda and Devin locked eyes, tears streaming down their faces. Matilda wiped away a tear and poured out her heartfelt desires,

"You are the only thing that matters to me. I’ve already started with the restaurants and I still have the capital for that. Devin, I want you to understand that I am willing to do anything to make you happy."

"I deeply regret causing you so much pain, especially when all you did was love me and shower me with even more love. I want you to know that I appreciate everything and I love you more than words can express. I..."

Devin cut her off, capturing her words with a passionate kiss. They both gasped for breath when they finally pulled apart.

"Tilda, I’ve always told you that I never stopped loving you. I appreciate what you’ve done, but you didn’t have to. However, I love it. It’s beautiful, and I love you so much."

Their lips met again, and when they broke apart, Matilda asked, "What’s next?"

Devin smirked seductively and replied, "I hope you’re ready because tonight, you’ll be the one begging me to stop."

Matilda giggled as Devin scooped her up in his arms, carrying her bridal style towards the bedroom without breaking their kiss.

Her unexpected gesture touched not only his heart but also his soul. She had used seventy percent of her money to buy him a luxury car he didn’t even need. Devin felt a surge of desire, as if they were on their second honeymoon.

Don Kane was in the midst of entertaining guests at his casino when his phone rang. It was his daughter, so he reluctantly answered.

He was still upset with her for almost jeopardizing his business. If it weren’t for Robin needing his help, he would have entrusted his business to a stranger and suffered significant losses.

Don Kane knew that money was crucial in a man’s life, and he doubted he would even have his daughter’s respect if he didn’t have enough.

"Dad, I heard that Robin allowed you to stay. I want to come and visit," Shandra said politely on the other end of the line. Don Kane’s anger flared, and he lashed out over the phone.

"If even one of your feet touches the soil of New York City, I will personally bury you with my own two hands," Don Kane threatened angrily.

Shandra, though shaken, remained calm, understanding that her father was simply upset.

She longed to return to New York, especially now that the men she had left because of Robin were getting married and mocking her.

"Dad, Robin doesn’t have to know," she pleaded, but her father’s rage only intensified.

"Shut up, Shandra! Don’t forget that Zayla and her father are still in prison. I don’t want to end up there with them."

Recalling the video she had seen of Robin’s mistreatment of Zayla, Shandra felt a sense of fear. However, she also realized that if she didn’t go near the fire, she wouldn’t get burned.

"But I promise I won’t cause any trouble," she assured him.

Don Kane pondered her words for a moment, almost considering her plea. However, the memory of Robin’s warning resurfaced, reminding him of the potential consequences he could face if he allowed his daughter to return to New York.

Don Kane was not about to make the same mistake as Kennedy; he wasn’t foolish.

"I said NO," he reiterated firmly. "Don’t make me slap you through the phone. You know I’m capable of it. I could even let your bodyguard deal with you," he snarled, causing his daughter to tremble on the other end of the line.

Before he could continue, his wife intervened, questioning his harsh tone.

"Why are you speaking to her like that?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. Don Kane hesitated, unsure if he should reveal the whole truth to his wife.

Chapter 372: Chapter 372 - The only person I care about right now is Sabrina

Since Don Kane wanted to avoid any problems with his wife, he decided to be completely honest about the situation.

"Your daughter nearly ruined our businesses. She’s still in love with her ex, who is married and has a pregnant wife..."

Don Kane was interrupted by the sound of slaps, causing him to smile. His wife had a strong dislike for nonsense, and their daughter was no exception to her wrath for acting foolishly.

He had initially wanted his bodyguard to handle Shandra, but his wife was doing a great job on her own.

Robin and Sabrina arrived home to find Cecilia furious. The elderly woman had been unable to sleep due to worry over Sabrina’s absence and the stress it could potentially cause her.

"Robin, you need to be more careful. Don’t you realize that too much stress could cause her to go into premature labor?" Cecilia was fuming, leaving Robin at a loss for words.

They had left for the wedding in separate cars, but Cecilia had arrived almost two hours earlier.

Robin had a headache, as he couldn’t fully explain the situation to his grandmother about why he wanted Sabrina to ride with him.

"Grandma, there were some things I needed to take care of," Robin tried to explain.

"But I specifically asked to leave with Sabrina. You could have spent all your time out, but did you forget that Sabrina is pregnant? In her second trimester? How can you be so thoughtless?" Cecilia scolded.

Sabrina went to hug the elderly woman, trying to calm her down. "Grandma, it wasn’t his fault. Please don’t blame him. I insisted on being with him."

The old woman shook her head in disagreement. Even if Sabrina wanted it, Robin should have refused, considering her condition.

"He should have been reasonable enough to refuse," she said, her tone softening as she looked at Sabrina’s belly. She then asked, "So, how are you feeling now?"

"I’m feeling very well. I’ll take a shower and get some rest. Tomorrow is still the weekend," Sabrina reassured her. Cecilia smiled at her and said,

"Please be careful, and if you can’t sleep, use more pillows. By the way, I noticed you haven’t used the maternity pillows. Don’t you need them?"

The elderly woman had carefully chosen the best maternity pillows for Sabrina, only to be disappointed when she never used them.

Sabrina felt guilty that Cecilia’s efforts had been in vain. However, she couldn’t bring herself to use so many pillows when she had a better way to relax - a human being.

Sabrina blushed at the thought but didn’t want to hurt Cecilia’s feelings, so she explained, "I have another pillow, grandma." Cecilia laughed, understanding what Sabrina meant and replied,

"You young people these days. We can’t compare to your level of romance."

Robin noticed Sabrina’s flushed cheeks and came to her defense, realizing how embarrassed she was.

"Grandma, you know Sabrina is shy," he said. Then he remembered something and asked Cecilia, "Can I ask you a question?"

"Yes," the elderly woman agreed, but Sabrina was also curious. Robin didn’t want her to hear, but it was too late.

He brushed it off, saying, "Just forget it."

Cecilia, being wise, sensed that Robin didn’t want Sabrina to hear what he had to say and didn’t press further.

She jokingly retorted, "Okay, but if you think I’ll force you, then forget it. The only person I care about right now is Sabrina."

Robin laughed and shook his head. "I already know that."

Sabrina hugged Cecilia once more before going upstairs with Robin. He planned to put her to bed and then return to talk to his grandma, unaware that Sabrina had other plans.

"My King, do you remember the shower sex? Can we do it again?" Sabrina asked as she undressed herself.

Robin, in the process of unbuttoning his shirt, froze momentarily at her request. After regaining his composure, he smiled and asked, "Aren’t you tired?"

Considering her pregnancy, he wanted to be cautious, even though the doctor had assured them that everything was fine.

Sabrina pouted at his hesitation and reminded him, "Don’t forget that the warm shower and release would help me sleep better."

Robin smiled and embraced her from behind as she stood in her underwear.

My Queen, I adore you deeply. I was afraid that you would no longer bring me pleasure, but you continue to satisfy me," Robin whispered, nuzzling into the curve of her neck and gently kissing it, eliciting a moan from her.

Feeling her desire ignite, she turned around and spoke between heavy breaths,

"I thought I was the only one enjoying this. It seems like you enjoy it even more than I do. So why do I always have to be the one to initiate?"

Robin caressed her back, his hand finding the clasp of her bra and unhooking it.

As her full breasts were revealed, he kissed them softly before saying, "I just don’t want to pressure you. But once our twins are born, the tamed beast would be released again."

Sabrina frowned slightly at the mention of a ’tamed beast,’ her face paling as she feared Robin would revert back to his previous self after she gives birth.

However, Robin quickly realized her misunderstanding and clarified, "I mean, sexually."

Sabrina smiled, and he continued, "But for tonight, I’m going to take my chances. I won’t let this opportunity slip away."

Sabrina smiled as he carried her like a bride to the bathroom, wondering where he found the strength, considering she was no longer lightweight.

She was so exhausted that by the time Robin finished pleasuring her for the second time, she was already dozing off as he carried her out of the bathroom.

As Robin tucked her into bed and covered her with a duvet, he quietly left the room to find his grandmother.

To his surprise, the elderly woman was still in the living room, watching some comedy shows.

He had intended to speak to her in her room. "I knew you would come back, although it took longer than I expected," Cecilia said, her eyes fixed on the TV.

Robin smiled and replied, "Grandma, I had to help my wife fall asleep."

"Just that?" the old woman inquired curiously, sensing there was more to the story. Robin sighed and confessed,

"Okay. Sex helps her relax and sleep deeply. She doesn’t need all those pillows when I’m here." He shrugged and sat beside his grandmother, who laughed and shook her head.

Robin’s recent behavior reminded Cecilia of her late husband, his grandfather. "You’re just like your grandfather. Anyway, what did you want to ask me?" she asked, her tone serious.

Robin pursed his lips and asked, "Grandma, did my mom ever cheat on my dad?"

Chapter 373: Chapter 373 - DNA test result

Cecilia’s face lined with a frown as confusion washed over her. She found it disrespectful for Robin to think so poorly of his mother, whom he loved dearly. She asked, her tone serious,

"How can you ask such a question?"

Robin responded with equal seriousness, "Grandma, I met a man at the party who looked so much like mom. Same green eyes and that pretty face, except, of course, he was a man and had short brown hair."

Cecilia pondered deeply and let out a sigh of relief. "It could just be a coincidence, a case of resemblance."

Robin thought the same, but he couldn’t simply brush it off. He needed to be certain that the man he saw was not his mother’s blood. "I managed to take a hair sample from him for a DNA test," he revealed.

"That’s good," Cecilia agreed, though she still felt uneasy about the whole resemblance situation.

However, Robin wanted to be absolutely sure if he was his mother’s only child, so he asked again.

"But grandma, I believe you might know something. You and mom were very close, just like you are with Sabrina."

Cecilia nodded in agreement and responded, "It’s true that your mom and I were close, but when she had you, we thought she was going insane."

Robin released a breath he didn’t realize he was holding and delved deeper into the matter.

"Grandma, please tell me everything. The man mentioned that I took something from him."

The elderly woman froze and asked, her discomfort growing, "Something like what?"

"I don’t know, but he called on the phone and faked his voice. Before that, he had sent a woman to set me up. It was a miracle that I regained Sabrina’s trust," Robin recalled bitterly.

Cecilia felt like she couldn’t keep it in any longer, as the similarities in the matter became overwhelming.

"Hmmm. We always kept this a secret because it drove your late mother crazy whenever anyone mentioned it or when she saw her previous maternity health records."

"What is it?" Robin asked curiously, hoping it wasn’t what he feared.

Cecilia revealed, "Your mother was pregnant with twins. The scan showed two boys."

Robin was in shock as Cecilia continued to explain. "On the day of your birth, your father had an accident and I had to go back and forth between your mother and father since they were both in the same hospital."

"When I returned from checking on your father, your mother was asleep. But when she woke up and saw you in your crib, she started screaming for your brother."

"You mean I have a twin brother?" Robin was taken aback. His initial suspicion was that his mother must have had a child before marrying his father, or worse, cheated on him.

The idea of having a twin brother hadn’t crossed his mind, even after seeing the man who resembled his late mother.

"We never saw him. The doctor said he died, but your mother insisted she heard his cry. It was the doctor’s word against hers. In the end, they diagnosed her with postpartum depression."

The news weighed heavily on Robin, and he buried his face in his hands. He couldn’t help but suspect that something suspicious had happened in the delivery room.

Cecilia wasn’t finished and continued to explain. "When your father recovered, he investigated and was shown the dead body of your brother, just like your mother. But she still insisted that your twin brother was alive."

Robin’s lips tightened as he struggled to believe that the man who had his eyes on his wife could be his twin brother.

"If we were twins, then why did the man I saw look like her and not me?" Robin asked, feeling helpless. He didn’t think he could go against his own twin brother.

Robin regretted not taking his life more seriously. Even with all of Zayla’s mischief, if he had been more focused and not indulged in womanizing, he might have discovered these things earlier and never divorced Sabrina.

Robin still feared losing Sabrina because they weren’t legally married.

"Well, the dead body your father saw at the time was not identical. You were fraternal twins," Cecilia revealed, confirming the possibility that the man could be Robin’s biological twin brother.

"So why didn’t anyone tell me that my twin brother had died?" he asked, disappointment evident in his voice.

"Because we wanted to spare your mother any further distress," Cecilia replied.

Robin forced a smile, concealing the pain that consumed him. It appeared that his family had a penchant for keeping secrets from him.

While he understood Sabrina’s desire for anonymity after saving his life, the fact that they hadn’t disclosed the existence of his fraternal twin brother, whether deceased or alive, didn’t sit well with him.

Unfortunately, the responsible parties were no longer alive, making it impossible for him to confront them.

"I will submit his hair sample for a DNA test tomorrow and inform you of the results. I had suspected that Mom had been unfaithful to Dad," he confessed.

Cecilia shook her head and vehemently defended their mother, stating, "Your mother would never do such a thing. She was a decent and kind-hearted woman, just like Sabrina, and your father loved her deeply."

Robin pursed his lips, deep in thought. "No wonder he mentioned that I possess things that belong to him. If he was referring to his rightful inheritance, why did he feel the need to hide? He could have been honest about it. I won’t take all the money to my grave, and even when our children are born, they will still have more than enough."

"If we decide to divide everything equally, neither us nor our children will ever lack for generations," Robin mused aloud. He didn’t believe that even Sabrina would object to sharing everything with his twin brother.

Nevertheless, another thought crossed his mind, and he inquired, "But did Mom have any close friends?"

Cecilia’s dull eyes suddenly sparked with recollection, and she revealed, "She did have a best friend, but I’m not sure what happened between them. A few days after you were born, she left the state, and I have no idea where she is now."

Robin’s curiosity intensified, sensing that this woman held more information about the mystery at hand. "Do you happen to know her name?" he asked eagerly.

"Of course. Her name is Ethel Dwayne," Cecilia disclosed, and Robin made a mental note of it. "She might have some answers. I will try to find her."

Cecilia agreed and stifled a yawn. "Alright. I should also get some sleep."

Three days later, Robin received a call from the hospital lab where he had submitted the hair sample. "Good day, Mr. Jewel. The DNA test results have been sent to your email."

Chapter 374: Chapter 374 – No, I don’t feel so good

Three days later, Robin received a call from the hospital lab where he had submitted the hair sample. "Good day, Mr. Jewel. The DNA test results have been sent to your email."

He quickly checked the email, tears welling up in his eyes as he read the result. "99.6% match. I have a twin brother and I don’t even know his name."

Robin had always longed for a sibling, which was why he was so desperate for a child to fill that void. He was overjoyed by the DNA test result, but he knew he needed to have a conversation with his newfound twin brother.

He reached for the phone, about to call Daniel before he remembered that Daniel was still on his honeymoon and wouldn’t be back for a few days.

No matter how desperate he felt in that moment, he couldn’t bring himself to ruin Daniel’s honeymoon. As he was about to call Peter, there was a knock at the door and his bodyguard went to answer it.

"Sir, it’s your secretary," the bodyguard informed him.

Robin frowned, wondering why his relief secretary wanted to see him in person instead of using the intercom. "Find out why she’s here."

The bodyguard returned after a few seconds. "She said she wants to thank you."

"For what?" Robin asked, annoyed. But since the bodyguard was right at the door, he let down his guard and said, "Just let her in."

As the bodyguard opened the door, a smile spread across Robin’s face. "Aria, you’re back. Sorry, I thought you were the relief secretary."

Relief washed over Aria’s face as she sighed, saying, "I thought I had been replaced."

She had been terrified when the bodyguard initially refused to let her in, as such rules had never applied to her before.

She feared that Robin had taken her job away because of the stillbirth she had suffered, which was the reason he had given her husband a job.

"No, sit down. How are you? I thought you would need more time off," Robin said casually. Seeing Aria, it felt as if 50% of his burdens had been lifted.

Having worked together for so long, Aria had gained enough insight into the company’s affairs to take action without always needing Robin’s immediate approval.

"No, I’m doing very well and I have the strength to work. Mr. Jewel, thank you so much for what you did for my husband. He has been so happy," Aria said sincerely. Robin smiled and replied,

"It’s alright. Through you, he earned my trust."

Excitement tinged Aria’s voice as she relayed the news, "He showed up for work this morning after dropping me off. I was with HR when he called to inform me that he has been given an official car and house. Is that part of the CEO position?"

Unbeknownst to Aria, her husband had been promoted to CEO within the Jewel group of Companies. Even he hadn’t taken it seriously when Robin mentioned that he would be trained by the other CEO.

The role of CEO’s assistant had been enough for him, so the news and appointment letter stating that he was now employed as a CEO, along with the accompanying perks, completely blew his mind.

He couldn’t fathom how CEOs could willingly resign from such lucrative positions.

"Aria, I’m disappointed that you even have to ask that question," Robin responded, expecting her to already know.

However, realizing that her job was primarily focused on his administrative duties and appointments, he softened his tone and continued,

"But then again, you don’t work with HR, so I’ll let it slide. And yes, all CEOs are provided with a house and car, along with a driver if needed."

Aria’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she recalled the joy in her husband’s voice. She couldn’t wait to see that same joy reflected in his eyes.

"Mr. Jewel, I can’t thank you and your wife enough. You’ve brought us so much happiness," Aria expressed gratefully.

Robin shook his head, wishing he had the power to do more. He knew that a content and fulfilled staff was crucial for success.

"While that joy can never replace the loss of a child, I hope you and your husband consider trying again soon," Robin encouraged with a small smile. Aria blushed and replied, "Yes, we are considering it."

Robin was relieved that Aria was back, as he had refrained from burdening the relief staff with too much work. Most of the tasks were confidential anyway.

"Good then. If you’re in good health, take over from the relief secretary," he said, glancing at the bodyguard by the door. He added, "And Joe, Aria is allowed in my office without permission."

"Yes, sir," Joe acknowledged.

Aria smiled once again before returning to her desk. Robin went back to work, but as soon as he remembered to call Daniel, the reminder about his honeymoon crossed Robin’s mind and he decided to dial Peter’s number instead.

Peter answered on the first ring but spoke in a hurry. "Mr. Jewel, if it’s not urgent, can I call you back? I’m in the middle of something very important."

Robin noticed that Peter was breathing heavily. At first, he thought Pete was joking, but there was no sound of wind, so Robin frowned a little and asked,

"Your breath is heavy. Are you jogging?"

Peter laughed and replied, "You’ve already ruined the mood. What’s the problem?"

Robin chuckled, happy to know that Pete had moved on from Mara and was even seeing someone new. He requested,

"I’m sending you a picture, but I don’t have a name. I need his personal details. Then I’m sending a pictureless name. I need information about her as well."

Peter was about to respond when Robin added, "Also, please give me my bill."

Peter started saying something, but Robin got distracted by a call waiting. He pulled the phone away from his ear and saw that it was Sabrina calling. He quickly said,

"I will call you back."

He ended the call and answered Sabrina’s call in a tender tone, "My queen, is everything alright?"

"No, I don’t feel so good," came the response. Robin was immediately unsettled.

Chapter 375: Chapter 375 - By the time you wake up, you’ll hear the good news

Since Sabrina was in her third trimester, Robin feared that she might be experiencing premature labor, especially since they had visited the hospital the day before.

"I’m coming over," Robin declared urgently.

He arrived at Sabrina’s office in record time and immediately noticed that she wasn’t doing well.

"Let’s go to the hospital," Robin insisted, not giving Sabrina any room for argument. However, Sabrina refused and reminded him,

"We went yesterday, remember?"

All she wanted was for him to be by her side, knowing that her due date was still far off, but Robin wasn’t listening.

"It doesn’t matter."

Without further ado, Robin scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the car. At the hospital, the doctor conducted some tests and informed them,

"Your babies have dropped. That’s why you’re feeling so uncomfortable."

Both Robin and Sabrina breathed a sigh of relief when the doctor asked, "Have you experienced any false contractions?"

Sabrina shook her head. "No."

The doctor made a few notes and suggested with a gentle smile, "You can try using more pillows to make yourself more comfortable and drink plenty of water. At this stage, there isn’t much we can do about the symptoms, as they are all signs of your growing fetus."

Sabrina knew that using pillows wouldn’t be much help, but she smiled and replied, "Okay. Thank you very much."

On the way back, Sabrina noticed that Robin was driving in the wrong direction. Confused, she frowned and asked, "Where are you going? I have a meeting with the CEOs at the Crystal Hotel."

Robin was determined not to let her stress herself out in her condition. "I’ll drop you off at my office so you can rest. Don’t worry about the meeting. I’ll take care of it for you. Aria is already there, and I’ll call Laura to come over too."

Sabrina couldn’t refuse, as she was already feeling exhausted. "Okay. Thank you."

Robin was relieved that she didn’t object. He picked up some food along the way, and after they had eaten their fill and called Laura to come over, he kissed Sabrina and made sure she was comfortable before heading to the meeting.

At a secret location, Jacob urgently whispered to his mother, "Finally, I’m going to expose him. His reputation will be completely ruined this time." His excitement was palpable.

"Jacob, please reconsider. Don’t go through with this," his mother pleaded, fear evident in her eyes. However, Jacob was irritated by her concern.

"Why are you defending him? My father abandoned me, so why should he have peace?" he bitterly retorted, recalling the lies his mother had fed him to dissuade his longing for his father’s affection.

Remorse flickered in his mother’s eyes. She had tried to rectify the situation over the years, but her attempts had only made things worse as she piled one lie upon another.

"Jacob, it wasn’t his fault. He was already married."

"It doesn’t change anything," Jacob snapped, his anger mounting. "You should have told me earlier, instead of waiting until he died so his beloved son would suffer."

Fear flashed across his mother’s face, having heard that Robin had almost caught Jacob at the wedding reception.

Worried that Jacob’s plans might fail again, potentially involving the police and exposing her secrets, she was determined to do whatever it took to make him stop.

"What do you hope to achieve this time? Your previous plans have all failed," she pointed out, hoping to discourage him. But her words fell on deaf ears.

"This time will be different because I won’t tell you," Jacob declared firmly. It was strange how his plans always crumbled when he confided in his mother.

It was as if her disapproval acted as a curse upon him. That’s why he wanted to keep this master plan a secret from her until it succeeded.

His mother desperately searched for a way to help him, attempting to buy some time by promising to reveal important information once she recovered.

Jacob, please listen. Once I recover, there are some important things I need to share with you. These revelations will help you understand and hopefully stop attacking your brother."

"My half-brother. We don’t share the same mother," Jacob retorted, causing his mother to lower her head, avoiding his gaze. It was as if she feared he would see through all the lies she had told in the past.

"You’ve already told me everything. When you became pregnant with me, my father rejected me because his wife was also expecting. Why don’t you have a picture of him? Do I resemble him?" Jacob pondered, oblivious to his mother’s changing expressions, his mind consumed by thoughts of Sabrina’s beauty and Robin’s scrutinizing gaze.

"The way Robin and Sabrina looked at me, Sabrina mentioned that I seemed familiar. Mom, I don’t resemble you, so I must resemble him, right? This also implies that Robin resembles his mother," Jacob attempted to comprehend the situation.

His search for answers sent a chill down the woman’s spine, rendering her speechless. She should have realized that the world was too small for lies to go unnoticed.

"Jacob, I have a headache. Please let me rest for a while," she found the perfect excuse to say, instantly softening Jacob’s gaze.

"Of course, take a good rest. By the time you wake up, you’ll hear the good news."

Fear gripped the woman’s heart as she tightly pressed her lips together, closing her eyes. Warm lips pressed against her cheeks.

"Mom, I love you very much and thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made for me."

As she heard her son’s fading footsteps, tears she had held back began to fall.

She stood up and went to swallow some sleeping pills, unable to sleep ever since Jacob discovered Robin’s whereabouts. She already knew her end had come.

***

After a few hours, Sabrina woke up and realized the room was dark. She reached for her phone to call Robin, assuming he had returned and was in the office.

Feeling too lazy to get out of bed, she was also consumed by hunger. Nevertheless, she noticed some pop-ups on her phone and checked out of curiosity, as there were many of them.

News and pictures of Robin from all angles made her dizzy. In frustration, she threw the phone against the wall, causing it to fall and break.
