Ch. 386..390: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 386-390
Chapter 386: Chapter 386 - Sir, we have both the mother and son
Knock, knock.
"Brina, are you busy?" Lizzy peeked her head around the door, hiding behind it as she spoke.
Sabrina rose from her executive swivel chair in excitement and went to hug her sister.
"Lizzy, I will never be too busy to see you. You look so gorgeous," Sabrina gawked at her kid sister who seemed to have matured overnight.
Lizzy beamed and stared at her pregnant elder sister. "Thank you and you look amazing."
Sabrina, being self-conscious, shook her head. "I look like a pig." Of late, no design could hide her bump and she felt heavy but Lizzy disagreed, saying,
"That is not true." Her elder sister was close to her eight months in pregnancy but still looked stunning, compared to other pregnant women Lizzy saw.
Sabrina didn’t want to argue, so as not to fall back into depression and asked her, "How was your honeymoon?"
She loved the way her sister was so happy and she wondered if things would be the same between her and Robin if she signed the marriage certificate again.
Lizzy was so happy, it reflected all around her as she spoke. "It was everything I ever dreamed of as a child but God, Daniel did not have mercy like when we weren’t married. He was demanding it every minute."
Lizzy’s cheeks were pink as she recalled her honeymoon experience. It seemed that since Daniel didn’t have any work to do, his energy and libido reached its peak.
Sabrina was happy for her, smiling all through her kid sister’s excited talks. One of the most important things about marriage was being compatible with one’s partner. Marriage without sex would be quite boring.
After all, sex was the spice of marriage.
"That should be a good thing, right?" Sabrina asked, Lizzy smiled broadly and replied,
"Well, yes. I love him so much but I wanted to get a gift for him and I don’t know what. I asked Matilda and she was equally clueless. I asked Devin too and he said that Matilda bought him his latest car but that is so expensive," Lizzy narrated thoughtfully.
Sabrina was amazed to hear that Matilda bought Devin a car but was very excited about it. It only meant that her best friend got her head cleared once again.
In Lizzy’s situation, Sabrina felt that her sister was only being stingy cos if she wanted to buy a car for Daniel, she would indeed be able to afford it. Lizzy hardly touched her salary as Devin gave her everything.
Her investments were in hundreds of millions too.
But you can afford a car," Sabrina pointed out. Lizzy asked with a sweet smile,
"So, you think I should buy him a car?" She felt shy at the thought, as she always had the premonition that gifts should always be from a man and not the other way around.
It was after receiving so much from Daniel that she began to feel guilty for always taking and never giving.
This was what drove her to think about how to get him a gift.
Sabrina didn’t want it to seem like she was deciding for her sister, so she asked, "What did he buy for you as a wedding gift?" Lizzy felt guilty as she said, "a vacation house in Barbados."
"Wow, then buying a car for him should be nothing. Don’t ask me what kind of car because I’m very bad at it. Matilda should be the best person to advise."
Lizzy smiled shyly. This was the first time she was going to buy such an expensive gift for a man, but that man was also her husband. "Alright, I will ask her, but I hope to add a pregnancy report to the surprise."
Sabrina laughed and shook her head at Lizzy’s desperation to get pregnant. "Hey, relax and enjoy your marriage. Pregnancy is a nine-month journey, full of its own ups and downs."
Lizzy smiled in agreement. "You are right. Daniel doesn’t seem to be desperate and from the way he doesn’t allow me to rest every night, let me just enjoy it."
"Now you are talking," Sabrina hugged her kid sister once again and spoke.
***
A few days later, Robin had just picked up Sabrina from the office. On their way, he received a call. "Sir, we have both the mother and son. They are both in separate rooms like you instructed."
Robin smiled, "Thank you."
When he hired people to abduct his twin brother and that woman, it proved more difficult than they thought. His twin brother had a dozen bodyguards at his beck and call.
However, Robin decided to do to his brother as was done to him in the video, and with the knockout gas, it was very easy for Jacob and his mother to be injected with sedatives.
In their unconscious state, they were carried to the place where Robin had instructed them.
"What is the matter?" Sabrina asked suspiciously, seeing the change in Robin’s expression.
"They finally got Jacob and his mother," Robin replied honestly. Sabrina was relieved.
"You mean the woman who abducted him," she corrected. Robin nodded his head in agreement before he asked,
"Do you want to come?"
Sabrina wanted to but felt that her presence wasn’t needed since this was the first time Robin was going to meet his twin brother in person.
"I think you both need time alone for now."
After a little thought, Robin agreed with her suggestion. "Then I will drop you home first."
"I can wait in the car. Tomorrow is a weekend and I won’t go to work anymore until I deliver our baby," Sabrina suggested, but Robin was not in agreement, fearing for her safety in being left in the car in her state.
"It doesn’t matter. Being in the car alone is still not safe."
"But your bodyguard is here," she reminded Robin, feeling that he had forgotten the presence of his bodyguard. But Robin said strongly,
"I still insist. Please let me take you home first." Sabrina could not refuse anymore.
Two hours later, Robin was in front of the door where his twin brother had been held captive.
This was the same presidential suite he used to cause the scandal almost a week ago. Robin was about to open the door when the bodyguard at the door warned him.
"Sir, he hasn’t been restricted like you ordered. He can be violent."
Robin calmly responded, "Don’t worry. I will be fine."
Robin entered the room and switched on the light, forcing the man on the bed to wake up. When he was certain that Jacob was awake, he locked the door.
Chapter 387: Chapter 387 – I want your wife
Jacob woke up with a pounding headache when the light was turned on. Looking around, the room looked familiar but it wasn’t his.
At the same time, his eyes squinted due to the brightness of the light. "Where am I, where is my mother?"
As he asked, his gaze locked with that of Robin and he slowly understood what had happened.
He recalled suddenly feeling sleepy when he was having one of those annoying discussions with his mother once again.
He couldn’t understand the reason why his mother would constantly defend Robin after all that Robin’s father did to them.
Rage boiled inside of him upon deciphering that Robin had used the same trick on him like he did.
He could not stomach the fact that Robin must have found out that he was the one behind the scandal, surprised that he didn’t go after the people he used but came directly to him.
His abode was a safe hideout and how Robin managed to find the location was still a mystery to him.
However, recalling his mother’s words, that Jacob could not win against Robin, Jacob felt embarrassed that indeed, another doomed prophecy of his mother had come through again.
He never planned to meet Robin like this and was not prepared to speak with him either. The only excuse he could use was his mother but he was genuinely disturbed because of her health condition and added,
"She has a cough variant asthma. She won’t survive without her inhalers." He was sure that his mother didn’t have any inhalers on her, just as he didn’t.
After all, he was brought here against his will, just as he set Robin up against his will.
Hearing that his mother’s evil best friend was sick, Robin had no intention of dealing with a sick person. It would be better if she was in good health so she could confess and face the music.
"I will get a health worker to check on her," Robin said and sent a text message on his phone. After he was done, he assured Jacob, "She will be fine."
"Where is she?" Jacob asked anxiously. He didn’t trust Robin and the fact remained that he loathed the latter.
Robin was calm as he sat on a chair beside the bed Jacob sat on. "In the next room but you can’t bypass me to go there. The door is locked and I have my men outside."
"What do you want?" Jacob’s brows furrowed and his anger burned deeper than coal.
"That is the question I want to ask you," Robin’s calmness extended to his voice. He pointed out,
"You are the one who began to meddle in my business."
Robin was not going to tell him straight away about his findings without knowing what his twin brother was up to. As expected, Jacob was furious.
"What makes you think that I will tell you?" he asked angrily, the corner of Robin’s lips raised a little.
"I can send another message to the health worker to not check on your mother. My mother died years ago and I have lived with it, so I won’t care about yours."
The reason why Robin wouldn’t care was because he knew that the woman Jacob called a mother was evil.
However, he felt that the truth would be too heavy for Jacob to carry, so he put it that way to aggravate him.
If that happened, then Jacob, out of anger, might tell Robin what he wanted to know. That was Robin’s plan, which somehow worked as Jacob began to curse. "You are heartless, just like your father."
Robin nodded his head and asked in a neutral tone, "What do you know about my father?"
Pain registered in Jacob’s eyes as he scowled, "Just get out of my face and get me out of here."
Robin forced a smile, clueless about what made his twin brother so hateful of him. Still, he was not ready to let him go until they hashed out everything.
"I can also give all the proof I have to the police and put you behind bars. Your mother could still die of heartbreak or whatever asthma you spoke about, so what is your take?" Robin asked in a relaxed manner.
He had no intention of doing as he said but hoped that the threat would be strong enough to get whatever his twin brother was hiding out of him. "Remember, I never came to you. It was rather the other way."
"I don’t want to talk to you," Jacob snarled. He was upset to be at Robin’s mercy but was also not going to make things easy for him.
He first thought about fighting his way through, but remembering what Robin did at the wedding and how he exerted physical strength, it only meant that Robin was tougher than he looked.
"I wasn’t expecting you to be afraid of me," Robin said in a mocking tone, aggravating Jacob’s anger as the latter yelled,
"I’m not afraid of you." He stood up and walked to the large window to avoid Robin’s gaze. Robin remained seated.
"Then let it out. What do I owe you?" he asked.
His question made Jacob feel that he gave himself away. After all, Robin didn’t show him any proof so he could deny all the allegations.
"I don’t know what you are talking about. Who are you and why are you here?" Jacob asked. Robin laughed. At first, he thought that Jacob was afraid of him, and his behavior only confirmed it.
"Stop pretending, Jacob Dwayne. After sending Gladys to my office, trying to abduct my wife at that wedding, you also set me up again. I know everything, so it’s too late to pretend. I know everything about you, including the DNA you carry," Robin blurted out.
Jacob went stiff. He knew that trying to pretend was useless. How could he have known that just as he was planning more evil against Robin, the latter was equally investigating him?
Jacob turned to face Robin. There was no longer any fear on his face as he demanded,
"Like I said on the phone, I want your wife."
Chapter 388: Chapter 388 – Mum, we have to talk
Robin burst into laughter. "If you must know, I would do kill for my wife," he said. He leaned back, as if distancing himself from his previous statement, and added, "what was said was a mistake, so I will forgive you. Let’s speak sensibly and come to an agreement."
Jacob was angry and felt belittled. "Are you insulting me?"
"Is that how it sounds?" Robin asked, seemingly unfazed by the pain in his twin brother’s eyes, as he had demanded for Sabrina.
Robin couldn’t stand anyone showing interest in his wife, not even his twin brother.
"Whatever, just let me go and nobody gets hurt," Jacob said.
Robin rose to his feet and paced around, saying, "You have already caused a lot of damage. If you want a fight, I can give it to you. Or you could come clean. You knew we were twins, so why didn’t you come to me? We could have handled this better than you hiding in the dark and trying to destroy me. What did I do to you?"
Robin’s gaze darkened and his anger burned. If Sabrina was just a shallow woman, their enemies would have succeeded in breaking them apart.
She chose to trust him even when he didn’t deserve it, and that was how they were able to overcome the obstacles their enemies put in their way.
However, unknown to Robin, he had said something that did not sit well with Jacob. The latter said,
"Stop, stop. You and I might share the same father, but we don’t share the same mother and we are not twins."
Jacob could not entertain the possibility for two reasons. One was the fact that they shared no resemblance to each other, and the other was the fact that they had different mothers, only sharing the same father.
Robin slowly understood where the problem lay. His twin brother had been fed lies and had believed them too much to think clearly.
"Give me your email address. I will send you the DNA report and any other findings I have. If that’s not enough for you, choose a trusted hospital. I’m ready to provide you with my blood, hair, or nail sample. Whichever one would be suitable for you."
There was no point in trying to explain when science could do a good job. Jacob shook his head, finding the man he thought was his half-brother’s trick laughable.
"If we are twins, then why do we have different mothers?" he scoffed. Robin shook his head and said,
"We share the same mother, and she’s already deceased."
Jacob shook his head in disbelief, feeling that Robin was trying to manipulate him.
"That’s not true. Your father was dating my mother. When she got pregnant, he rejected her because your mother was also pregnant," Jacob said angrily, his eyes instantly turning red.
Robin understood where the problem lay. The evil woman had done a great job of feeding his twin brother so many lies that he felt neglected and sought revenge because of it.
He explained bitterly, "My father never had another woman aside from my mother. That woman you call your mother was my mother’s best friend. The night we were born, according to what our grandmother said, the doctors said you had died."
"She said our mom didn’t believe it and kept yelling for you, but a dead baby was presented before her and my father. Grandma said that that same night we were born, our father had an accident."
"It was the reason why she wasn’t there throughout the period of labor, and our mother kept insisting that she heard you cry, but it was her word against that of the doctors," Robin recounted everything.
As Jacob listened, he could not bring himself to trust or believe Robin’s words over those of the woman he knew to be his mother.
"No. My mom can’t lie to me."
Robin shook his head and explained further, "She stole you from her best friend. If only she would be kind enough to tell you the truth, then we wouldn’t be having this misunderstanding."
Silence descended like a thick blanket, both of them lost in thought. Robin hoped that his twin brother would believe the truth, and Jacob was not willing to accept that the woman he had known all his life as his mother was fake.
No, he also could not allow himself to feel guilty for going against Robin because of the things that same woman told him.
Apology was not in Jacob’s blood, and he was not ready to accept this information.
"No. My mom is not lying to me. You want to confuse me, so you are lying to me," he glared at Robin with angry, red eyes.
Robin found it useless to explain himself any further and pointed out,
"You are old, and from the way I see it, you have the resources to find out the truth. Even if you don’t, my wife and I have already decided to give you fifty percent of everything we own. Do your own investigations. Take your mother with you. After finding out the truth, you know where to find me."
Jacob was shocked that Robin did not torture him or pay someone to do so after all that he had done.
Somehow, he could not help but feel that Robin was up to something bigger as he watched Robin’s back. But as Robin reached the door, he turned around and spoke again,
"Just one piece of advice. If you are investigating something like this, you should keep it from her until you find out the truth."
Robin walked back to Jacob, took out a small pair of scissors from the first aid kit, cut a bit of his hair, and stuffed it into Jacob’s hands.
"When I attacked you at the wedding, I took your hair sample because you looked like our mother. Now you can have mine in exchange and do what you have to do. You are free to go," Robin said and walked away.
When he reached the entrance, he said to the bodyguards, "Your job is done. You are free to go home."
The bodyguards were surprised that Robin had not allowed them to torture the two people after all the damage they had caused.
In the presidential suite, Jacob was so shocked he went numb. Now he understood that he looked like his real mother and Robin must have taken after their father.
The information was too much for him, and since Robin said his mother was in the next room, he went there for some answers.
"Mum, we have to talk." His darkened gaze caused the color to drain from Ethel’s face.
Chapter 389: Chapter 389 – I will never forgive you
Jacob, you are my son. It doesn’t matter that you don’t have my blood," Ethel said sorrowfully. From the look on Jacob’s face, it was obvious to her that he already discovered the truth.
Jacob was heartbroken. He expected to hear something different. He expected to be proved wrong but not for his mother to admit that Robin was indeed right. Thus, Jacob felt played and his heart was heavy.
"So, it’s true. How could you do this to me? How could you tear me away from my family?" Rage boiled inside of him as he looked closely at the woman he had known all his life as his mother.
Ethel was pathetic. She knew that what she did was wrong but she didn’t regret it because of the profound love Jacob showed her.
He grew up like his father, though he didn’t have the resemblance Robin had of him. Jacob was never attracted to any woman and Ethel felt it was because he hadn’t met the right person yet.
"I’m sorry but I love you. I always have," a tear rolled down Ethel’s cheek. The only thing she feared was to lose the man who has always been her son, even if they never shared the same DNA.
Jacob sunk to the floor with a heavy heart. "That is no excuse. So, all that you told me about my father were lies?" He was furious and Ethel was afraid but decided to recount her love story to him.
"I loved him but he never even looked at me. I confessed my love to him when I saw him but he took my love for granted." She swallowed bitterly as she spoke, Jacob did not even spare her a glance as he asked,
"Where was my mother by then?" He saw the pain in Ethel’s eyes and rephrased the question. "I mean my biological mother."
Though Ethel was wrong, she indeed treated Jacob like a son and was all she had at the moment. The harm had already been done but he still wanted to know the details of the story.
"We were best friends since college and before she met your father, she used to be fun-loving. I met your father first during his birthday party and I fell in love with him instantly. Your mother was in Ibiza by then but your father never gave me attention."
Ethel swallowed a lump in her throat, recalling her bitter one-sided love story. "Your mother went to look for a job after spending her time vacationing across the world. She wasn’t broke but didn’t want to work for the crazy uncle who raised her when her parents died young."
"She told me that your father called her personally for the job but she didn’t want to do it because of how he seemed to have an interest in her."
"I felt jealous and advised her not to take the offer, but your father sent the application to her house and was able to convince her to accept. Exactly one month later, he proposed to her before your mother introduced me to him."
"He pretended as if he never saw me before. I went to visit your mother often so I would see your father, but all my tricks to get his attention did not work. I couldn’t love anyone else and couldn’t move on even after they got married."
Jacob felt strange and afraid. It was exactly how he felt about Sabrina. He knew she was married, divorced, and engaged to the same man but could not shake off what he felt for her the moment he saw her.
It was the reason why he directly told Robin about it, though his initial plans were just to destroy Robin. Sabrina’s presence in his office that day made the game interesting.
"When your mother got pregnant after a few years, my envy of her increased because I still couldn’t move on and she had a doting husband whom I was in love with. Then when she told me she was pregnant with twins, I hatched the perfect plan."
Ethel’s expression was sorrowful, as more tears rolled down her cheeks, but Jacob was feeling worse, knowing that his life would have been different if he had grown up with his real parents.
"I never wanted to marry any man except your father and since I couldn’t have him, I wanted his child so I caused him an accident, but not a terrible one to make him lose his life when your mother informed me that she was in labor."
"Your father received the call in his office and was rushing over. I knew that if he had gotten there, he would have been by her bedside throughout and all my plans would not have worked, so I paid someone to knock him over from the passenger side."
"I had already planned with one of the midwives and though I wanted Robin because he looked like your father, I had you instead."
The revelation that even Ethel preferred Robin to him increased the bitterness in Jacob’s heart, but he allowed Ethel to continue her confession.
"You have been a constant reminder of my past sin because of how you look like my best friend, your biological mother, and I’m very sorry."
Jacob did not realize it when a tear rolled down his cheek and his voice became heavy with it.
"All along, you watched me go against my twin brother and you are telling me that you are sorry?" He asked with a pained expression, Ethel cried some more.
I warned you not to do it. There was no other way for me to say it. Please Jacob, you brought so much joy to my life and I would understand if you want to press charges, but I need you to know that I love you so much," she said honestly, then began to cough.
Jacob panicked, but she reached for her inhaler, which the doctor Robin had sent to her earlier, had given her. After she calmed down, Jacob asked,
"So all the billions of cash and assets you put under my name, who do they belong to?"
"They belong to my parents. They were very wealthy, and I inherited everything as an only child. I’m very sorry," Ethel apologized, but without remorse.
Jacob forced a smile and stood up. Pain filled his eyes as he said, "You know what, Mom? I could forgive you for everything, but I can’t forgive you for ruining my chances with Sabrina. If I had grown up with my real parents, I would have been the one to have her."
Ethel let out a sad smile. She must have kept away from her best friend, Robin’s mother, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t privy to information in California, where she had relocated. "Sabrina has always loved Robin."
Jacob was pained and retorted, "It wouldn’t have been the same if I was there. Unless you can help me get her, I will never forgive you," he said coldly, and walked out of the hotel room, leaving Ethel puzzled.
Chapter 390: Chapter 390 – I will do anything
A few days later, Sabrina found herself bored at the villa after Robin left for work. He still had a few more weeks before taking some leave days, and though grandma was there for Sabrina at any time of the day, Robin did not want anybody else to take on his responsibilities. He decided to work from home during Sabrina’s last days.
Feeling restless, Sabrina yawned and went to the kitchen. Seeing the chef cooking, an idea popped into her mind and she said, "Let me help you."
The chef paled, afraid that Sabrina was no longer satisfied with his food and wanted to cook for herself, but he didn’t want to make him suspicious.
He quickly refused, saying, "No ma’am, please don’t take my job from me."
Sabrina shook her head, not knowing how to explain it to him. "I’m not taking your job, I’m just bored."
She never thought that being at home would be worse than going to the office and was beginning to envy Robin.
"Don’t worry. You can relax in the garden. I will get you some juices," the chef suggested, but Sabrina had been in the garden all day and nothing interested her like seeing Robin’s handsome face.
The thought of him caused her cheeks to redden. "No, I want to be here," she insisted.
The chef had no choice but to agree. However, he also felt that grandma should be aware. "I will get a few things from the store," he created an excuse and left the kitchen.
He quickly went to grandma’s room where the elderly woman was napping. Luckily, she had woken up and the chef met her on the stairs.
"Grandma, the madam of the house is in the kitchen, insisting on helping me," the chef complained. Grandma was worried and hurried to the kitchen.
"Sabrina, you mustn’t be here," Grandma said, worry oozing through her voice. Sabrina pouted, knowing that the chef had gone to report her.
She couldn’t blame him, though, since she saw the way, he had been afraid of her being in the kitchen.
It was as if her belly was going to fall in the kitchen and he was afraid of being arrested for it.
"Grandma, I’m so bored. If you don’t allow me to cook and take it to Robin, I will go back to work tomorrow."
The elderly woman was helpless but felt that Sabrina was missing Robin and wanted to be by his side.
"You are so stubborn," Grandma complained and teased her, "are you sure you just want to take food to Robin or your libido has been aggravated because of your condition?"
Sabrina’s face reddened because of the way the old woman saw through her. "Well, it’s not wrong for me to miss my husband, is it?"
Grandma hugged her comfortingly and smiled. "I’m so glad that Robin makes you happy. I can never stop you from seeing him. Who knows, it might even be the babies in the womb demanding their father."
Sabrina was so happy with the way the elderly woman termed it, kissing her lovingly on the cheek. "Thank you, grandma, I love you so much."
It was hard for Sabrina to concentrate on the cooking because of the way she felt aroused through it all.
Still, she got the desired result and was very excited about it. When she was done cooking, she called one of the drivers and said to him, "take me to the Jewel’s Group." The driver obeyed.
At the Jewel Group.
It was time for one of their quarterly meetings which Robin would have held at the Crystal hotel, but after what happened the last time, he felt uncomfortable, though the hotel was now double secured.
"Mr. President, at the end of the third quarter and after the deduction of all expenses including tax, the Jewel’s investment made two hundred percent profit compared to the last two quarters."
"I am thereby suggesting an increase in the incentives of my team to encourage them to work better in the future," the CEO of Jewel’s investment ended his report.
Robin was excited but his expression remained neutral. "As per the remuneration conditions attached, your company earned it." He turned to Aria, "Aria, note it down and remind me to send an email to HR to effect the increment and allowances stipulated for meeting targets," Robin concluded, the CEO was excited and thanked him.
"Mr. President, I would like to..." the next CEO was giving his report when a heavily pregnant woman walked in with a food flask.
Everybody was shocked when the president rose from his seat and his hardened gaze instantly softened at the sight of the woman when he relieved her of the items she held and kissed her on the lips.
"My queen, you shouldn’t be stressing yourself. You should have allowed the driver to help," he said with concern.
Sabrina smiled shyly and whispered in his ear, "It’s for my king, so I should carry it myself."
Robin’s heart warmed as he realized that he had won the heart of this wonderful woman once again.
She was doing for him what she used to do in the past, something he had not appreciated until she left.
This time, he wasn’t going to take those simple acts for granted. "Then I want you to know that you have touched a very important place in my heart," Robin whispered close to her ear. She giggled like a little girl.
The CEO’s watched their interaction with warmth as Robin turned to them and announced, "Gentlemen, we shall take a two-hour lunch break."
The CEOs were relieved and happy for Sabrina’s presence. If not for her, Robin would not have allowed them to go for lunch until the meeting was over.
They quickly left the office, including Aria and the bodyguards. Only after their departure did Robin ask Sabrina, "So did you come all the way because of only the food?"
Sabrina’s cheeks reddened as she thought about what she really wanted. "I will give you the next reason after you finish eating."
Robin sat in his swivel chair and gently guided her to sit on the table in front of him. He picked up the remote and locked the door before lifting her dress, exposing her naked bump, and kissing it gently, caressing it in the process.
Sabrina bit her lip and threw her head back as a moan escaped her. "My queen, I missed you so much, but there is something very important I need from you."
Sabrina inhaled deeply, pleasure filling her as she asked, "What do you want? I will do anything."
Robin smiled and removed his blazer. Sabrina thought he was going to pleasure her, but his request caused her to stiffen.
