Ch. 481..485: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 481-485
Chapter 481: Chapter 481 – Passion fruit.
"I actually wanted to ask for Mr. Jewel’s help," Aria said, piquing Sabrina’s curiosity.
"What is the matter?"
Aria didn’t know what Sabrina was going to think of Giselle after this, but her desire to find the man who spent the night with her daughter outweighed her reservations of whatever might happen after.
"Giselle was drunk and slept with a man, but he was gone before she woke up. The surveillance cameras have been cleaned out."
"Didn’t he leave any trace?" Sabrina asked, wondering what kind of man would have a one-night stand with a woman and just disappear.
Even if by emergency and he leaves before she woke up, he should have left his business card or something. This is so disrespectful.
"A WeChat account," Aria responded. Sabrina relaxed a little.
"Okay. Let her chat him on it. If he left a trace, then I don’t think he wants to hide. I will still talk to Robin about it."
"Thank you very much."
Aria was certain that Peter would help her to get to the bottom of this problem. Her heart relaxed and she comforted Giselle.
"Giselle, Aunt Sabrina is working on it. Why don’t you chat him?" Aria encouraged her, but Giselle didn’t want anything to do with this man. She didn’t want anything to do with him or to get entangled with him.
She also feared what Robert will think of her if he found out. The more she thought about it, the greater her confusion and the reason why she didn’t want to know the man anymore.
"I don’t even have a WeChat account. I will go and shower first." She ran up the stairs before her mother had the chance to insist on it.
Hours later, Sabrina called back. It wasn’t what Aria expected. "I’m sorry Aria, Pete couldn’t find anything. No one went in and out of her room after Mark carried her there, but the camera caught him coming out within seconds."
Aria recalled the dress and how Giselle said that Mark liked her. Aria almost pinned it on him, but Mark had come out too early to have done anything with Giselle.
"Then I don’t think it’s him, but there was a note," Aria recalled and said. Sabrina recalled Robin’s response to her request and said,
"The hacker he used did a good job. I think it’s best that she chats him. I don’t think he wants to hide, but I also don’t want any scandals in the future."
"You are right, thank you," Aria said with a forced smile.
"I did nothing. No need to thank me," Sabrina said and ended the call. She hoped that whoever did this to Giselle shows up to apologize for their differences to be settled.
The issue drew her mind away from the request she wanted to make for Aria to permit her to tell Robert the truth.
A few days later, Robert arrived at the office, but Giselle was not at her seat. He wanted to call her on he phone but was conflicted.
Things were no longer the same. Twenty minutes later, Giselle had still not arrived. It was her first time being late, and she hadn’t contacted Robert through WeChat as he expected.
He was incredibly disturbed, dialing her number. She answered it on the first ring. "I just arrived sir, I’m sorry I’m late."
The door pushed open at the same time the call ended. When Robert saw her appearance, his heart sank and his guilt increased.
Throughout the weekend, he couldn’t sleep and wanted to reach out to her. However, he was afraid of messing up, as he wasn’t prepared to face her and was still trying to figure out a way.
For now, he needed to get a grip on his emotions, and his fears only heightened when Giselle had not made eye contact since she entered his office.
"Giselle, what is wrong with you?" Robert met her halfway. Giselle had no makeup on, her face pale, her eyes red and swollen.
Her office attire was spot on, but it was obvious there was something bothering her. Giselle’s head was lowered as she responded,
"It’s nothing sir. Let me get the documents ready for the meeting."
She walked out before Robert could say any more. A few minutes later, Robert went to the conference room for a meeting.
When it was over, he went back to his office, but somehow, Gisele had withdrawn from him and her smile was gone. It ached Robert so much, and he asked,
"What happened at the party?"
Giselle felt her eyes glassy but fought back her tears. "Nothing," she answered sharply and asked,
"How is Miss Taylor?"
Robert discerned from the way she asked that she was jealous, but how could it be when she had eyes on someone?
Robert was afraid that what happened between them might affect her relationship with whatever man she had eyes on, but somehow, he wanted the man out of the way and suddenly didn’t feel so bad for him.
"Things didn’t go well between us. How is Mark?" Robert asked, returning the jealousy. "He was carrying you in his arms," he continued.
Giselle stiffened. Could it be Mark? She had seen from the video that he came out very fast after carrying her to the presidential suite.
"I don’t know. I don’t remember much. I guess I drunk too much," Giselle said with a sad expression.
Robert wanted to hold her. He wanted to assure her that everything will be fine. He even wanted to tell her the truth, but what if she got upset and hated him?
It was the reason why he left the WeChat account. He could know her intentions before telling her.
When Giselle returned to her office, she dialed Mark’s number. "Hey Giselle, are you alright?"
Mark was in a bad mood, but Giselle’s voice calmed him, except the question which caused him to freeze.
"Mark, did anything happen between us at the party?"
"No. Why do you ask?" Mark asked curiously. Giselle regretted asking. It wasn’t him. The video was clear.
"I will call you later. We have a meeting in the next five minutes." When Giselle ended the call, she went to her app store and downloaded WeChat before going for the meeting.
She felt that knowing the man she slept with might make her feel better.
After the meeting, she had some free time and searched ’passion fruit.’ There was passion fruit as the profile picture. After sending a friend request, she added a message, ’you left me your WeChat ID at the hotel.’
She was amazed by the prompt response as if he was waiting for her to send the message.
Chapter 482: Chapter 482 - He Must Be Very Lucky
The response from passion fruit, though prompt, disappointed Giselle.
’I’m very sorry for what happened between us. I couldn’t wait for you to wake up because I had to attend to a few things.’
Giselle tasted bitterness in her mouth. Why did the apology feel more painful than all the pains she felt put together?
She only wished to have seen the man who stole her first time. ’You should have woken me up. Anyway, send a picture of yourself,’ she chatted him.
At Robert’s office, confusion brewed in his mind as he tried to search for a fake picture but then again, Giselle could send it to Jasmine to find out who it was and he didn’t want that. He chatted, ’Why?’
’I want to know the person I spent the night with.’ Robert was about to respond as another message followed. "How did we end up in the same room?’
If Robert had an answer to that question, he would have gladly given it to her but since he didn’t, he couldn’t make her happy.
’I don’t remember. I’m sorry I don’t have an answer to your questions but I’m ready to take responsibility.’
’For what?’ Another message followed suit. Giselle was in a hurry to get back to work, thinking that her boss might need her anytime soon.
’I don’t know but were you on pills?’ the question that dropped in the chat caused a pause in her actions.
Giselle’s hands trembled with the phone she held. She was so concerned about the man’s identity; she hadn’t thought about the consequence of what happened to have prevented any complications by taking emergency pills.
’I will get some now. Chat you later.’ She wanted to rush to the pharmacy to get the emergency pills with the hope that it wouldn’t be too late.
’Please wait.’ Another message dropped almost instantly, she paused once again.
’What?’
’Do you have a boyfriend?’ Giselle’s shoulders dropped. The fact that she didn’t know the man made her consider her answer to the question.
’Why do you ask?’
’Won’t he be upset that something like this happened? I’m ready to shoulder the blame and take responsibility for everything.’
Robert was trying to pry into knowing that man she had eyes on but Giselle could not trust a stranger with such information.
’Don’t worry. I will be fine.’
’That doesn’t answer the question. Do you have a boyfriend?’ He asked directly, awaiting her response.
’No, but I have eyes on someone.’
Robert felt like he was chatting with a block of wall as he still could not penetrate through it.
’He must be very lucky. You are a very beautiful woman.’
Giselle would have been most flattered if she heard those words from Robert but not the passion fruit she was chatting with.
’I don’t think he sees me that way. I have to go. Bye.’
Giselle rushed out of the office to get the emergency contraceptive. Robert was still at a loss, thinking of which man captured her heart.
It was obvious that the stupid man was not even returning her feelings. Robert wished he could punch him in the face for not acknowledging such a beauty.
Jealousy filled his heart and he only blamed himself for being a coward. Maybe, if he had expressed his feelings for her, it could have removed the thoughts of that man from her mind.
Recalling that his mother had said that the woman who saved his life was old, Robert was tempted to believe it was the case. If so be, then he didn’t have to close his heart to matters of love.
He might just have to find a way to reward the woman one day or any of her relatives but for now, he was determined to know that guy who had Giselle’s heart.
Then images of her laughing with Mark began to flood his mind. He instantly dialed the latter’s number.
"Robert, is everything okay? I’m sorry I can’t bring you lunch today. I will send the delivery guy."
Mark thought that Robert was calling because it was close to lunchtime when he hadn’t arrived as usual.
But Robert, on the other hand, noticed that Mark was not his usual self and his tone sounded dull.
"You don’t sound okay."
Mark has always confided in Robert than his other cousins but because of their little clash in feeling for Giselle, Mark was hesitant.
"Tell me a secret and I will tell you mine."
Robert sighed. It sounded good as he needed someone to talk to concerning Giselle. "Do you promise to let it be between us?"
"Isn’t that the reason why it’s a secret?" Mark asked, happy that Robert wanted the same thing as him.
Robert was equally satisfied with his response and let out, "I woke up in bed with Giselle."
Strangely, Mark no longer felt embittered. He was rather happy it had happened between them as they both confessed to him, their feelings for each other.
Seems like he was still the only bachelor remaining. "Since you love her, why not take things to the next level?"
"Did I say that?" Robert asked with a frown on his face. He couldn’t remember anything.
"You confessed it when drunk."
Robert’s heart rate increased. "What else did I say?"
Mark chuckled. His reaction only gingered him to make him more anxious. "You talked about the woman who saved your life."
Robert relaxed, grateful that he hadn’t sputtered any nonsense. "What is your secret?"
"I woke up in bed with Aliya."
Robert was equally happy for him. He wanted to give Aliya a try but found her irritating. Perhaps, it was because he didn’t feel attracted to her.
Mark might be the best person for her. "If you like her, then you should start something right?"
"She’s still in love with you," Mark replied with a bitter expression but it was fine. Maybe his time for a relationship had just not come.
"Nothing can ever happen between me and her so if you want her, you are free to pursue her," Robert advised. Mark wanted to consider but recalling how Aliya didn’t want to give on Robert, his mood was ruined.
"Naaaah. I won’t pursue her any longer. So, what are your plans towards Giselle?" The door pushed open and Robert quickly said over the phone before hanging up.
"I will call you back." He turned to Giselle who had on a gloomy expression and asked, "Is anything the matter?" He was deeply worried about her.
Chapter 483: Chapter 483 – Time to return the favor
Giselle was on her way to get emergency contraception, before remembering that she hadn’t informed her boss that she was going out for a while.
The pharmacy was about fifteen minutes away, so she predicted spending a little more than thirty minutes, which wouldn’t go unnoticed. As such, she returned to inform Robert before leaving her office.
"I’m going to..." Giselle paused, afraid of lying to him but also could not tell him the truth. "Get lunch."
Robert, already knowing what she wanted to go and get, replied saying, "Don’t worry about that. Mark promised to send the delivery guy."
Giselle bit her lower lip, instantly thinking about another excuse to give. She forced a smile.
"Good. Then let me get a painkiller for my headache at the pharmacy."
Robert was disheartened that she didn’t want to open up to him, but how could he blame her?
What happened between them wasn’t something she should be proud of, especially when she couldn’t remember his identity.
Even he had no idea how it all happened, but he wanted her to know that she wasn’t alone.
"Giselle, there are a lot of first aid kits around. What is the problem?" His voice was so soft, Giselle found herself falling for him again, whereas guilt was equally welling up in her heart.
"Can I just take thirty minutes, please? There is something I urgently need to do," she said in a pleading tone, but Robert didn’t want her to use those contraceptives.
If they both created something beautiful, then it should be the rope that binds them together.
"Look, forget I’m your boss. Tell me what the problem is."
Giselle’s gaze lowered. How could she tell him? He might begin to see her differently. There was no way she could tell him and was greatly pained because she still could not get over him.
"I’m sorry. I can’t."
Dismay flashed in Robert’s eyes, but the girl was already saddened. Subduing his desire to stop her from going to the pharmacy, he said,
"It’s alright. Please take as much time as you want."
Giselle forced a smile. "Thank you." What happened was already a mistake, so how could she carry the child of an unknown man? Giselle did not want any surprises.
A few minutes after Giselle left, Robin called and he didn’t sound happy because of the burden of the news on his heart.
"Robert, Peter found the deleted videos," Robin announced.
Peter sent them to him, but because Robert was the culprit, he only told Sabrina that they had been deleted, knowing that she would not be able to hide it from Aria if she knew the truth.
When Robert was sick years back, Larry and Lambert had an infection and couldn’t donate their kidney. Joy was also too young and those were the only matches among blood relations.
When they continued the search, Aria and her husband volunteered. Her husband was a match but wasn’t medically fit to donate his kidney. They checked the kids. Both Gershon and Giselle were matches, but Giselle insisted on being the one to donate hers.
Robin felt that they owed the family so much for saving Robert’s life and was upset that Robert had slept with Giselle and paid someone to delete the evidence.
"Dad, it’s not what you think." Robert’s teeth ground together. He hated that his father thought he was irresponsible.
"You better correct your mistakes or I’ll send them to Aria. It will be up to her if she decides to tell Giselle about it or not."
Robert let out a frustrated sigh on his side of the line. How could he have known that his father would find out after tasking Jasmine to erase everything?
"Dad, please leave this to me. I will handle it."
Robin was still upset. This wasn’t the way to pay back the family that gave Robert life. "What were you thinking? Why drink so much?" He never knew Robert to drink like that before and could not comprehend the damage.
However, Robert could not take it any longer. He wasn’t as irresponsible as his father was perceiving.
He was just afraid of wounding Giselle’s heart. "Dad, if not for all your secrets, I would have pursued her. I don’t know what she would think about it when she finds out, but please allow me to handle it my way."
Robin was calm upon the revelation that Robert had feelings for Giselle. "If you love her, then do the right thing." His voice softened instantly.
"I will do the right thing, but please do me a favor and let me handle it my way," Robert said, Robin was glad but wanted him to hasten things, thereby giving an ultimatum.
"You have one month. Not more."
"That is enough for me," Robert smiled and said.
As Robert was speaking, there was a call coming through from Jasmine, so he quickly ended the call with his father.
"Jasmine, what is the matter?"
"Robert, it’s time for you to return the favor," Jasmine said desperately, Robert could not guess her request.
"What is the problem?"
"Rex called. He asked to see me," Jasmine said bitterly, Robert’s grip on the phone tightened. Rex is Jasmine’s ex-boyfriend.
"What does he want?"
"I don’t know, but I want you to pretend to be my boyfriend. Among all my cousins, you are the only one he hasn’t met," Jasmine explained her intentions, but Robert feared that she was still in love with Rex.
For what other reason could she not move on after that breakup? "Have you told Aunty Lizzy and Uncle Daniel about this?" Robert asked, knowing that Lizzy and Daniel would never encourage her to see Rex again.
"No. I want to listen to him first, but I don’t want him to think that I’ve been single since he left me."
The sorrow in Jasmine’s tone broke Robert’s resolve, and he agreed. "Alright, so when is this date you are talking about?"
"Lunch time tomorrow."
"Okay. I will pick you up from the office."
"That will be perfect." Jasmine was both excited and nervous as she ended the call.
The next day when during lunch time, Robert picked her up, and they went to meet her ex. Reaching there, Rex was also not alone, Jasmine was confused.
Chapter 484: Chapter 484 - I Don’t Have Any Other Woman
Warm arms enveloped Jasmine before she could say a word. She wanted to shake off the hands but couldn’t bring herself to do so, as she felt warm tears slipping through her thin dress.
Summer allowed her to dress in light clothes and she realized that Rex had grown thinner. As Jasmine’s eyes widened with shock, the woman who sat beside Rex before he hugged her did not seem upset but was rather smiling.
"Jasmine, I’m so sorry. I miss you so much," Rex sobbed, in the crook of her neck. Since he was taller, he towered over her, and Jasmine stiffened in his arms.
"Mmm," Robert cleared his throat and Rex instantly pulled away, glaring at him with discomfort.
It was obvious that Robert was a rich guy just by the luxury suit he was wearing. To top it off, he was also very attractive. A little more attractive than Rex.
"Who is he?" Pain settled in Rex’s eyes as he asked. Before Jasmine could respond, Robert’s arms wrapped possessively around her waist.
"She’s my girlfriend and you are?" His brows raised with a frown, as he pretended not to know. He hated that this man had caused Jasmine to shed so many tears for over two years.
Suddenly he shows his face saying what? That he misses her? Robert was ready for him.
Rex was numb, his words caught up in his throat. Something didn’t feel right for Jasmine but she said to Robert, "he’s my ex."
The introduction was not sitting well with Rex. "Jasmine, can we talk? Alone?" Rex was nervous and his voice came out as a whisper."
Robert’s frown deepened as he already guessed how he would go and beg to get Jasmine back but wait a minute, wasn’t he with a woman?
There was no resemblance between them so it couldn’t be a relative. He convinced himself that the man was just shameless.
"Whatever you want to tell me, he can hear it too," Jasmine stood her ground. Rex might be remorseful but it didn’t mean he could dump and come back for her whenever he wanted. What was he even thinking?
"Please. I just need to..."
Robert did not allow Rex to finish speaking before cutting him off by saying to Jasmine, "Babe, let’s go. He’s wasting time and lunch will be cold."
Rex felt a pain in his chest as he looked at their intimate interaction with envy. As Robert pulled Jasmine away, Rex caught her other arm. He couldn’t let her go just like that.
"Please Jasmine, just hear me out for a few minutes."
Jasmine smiled but it was laced with bitterness. "You already have a woman so why do I need to hear you out?" Jasmine asked.
She was shocked when the woman approached them and introduced herself. "Hi, I’m Gretel, his sister. He said a lot about you."
Her hand was stretched towards Jasmine for a handshake, both she and Robert were shocked. It was not until she smiled that Robert realized that Rex and his sister shared the same dentition.
It was the only similarity between the siblings. Jasmine was numb. "You have a sister and I never knew for all those months?"
The bitterness in her chest increased and she didn’t know which was more painful. Was it the break up or the secrets?
Rex confessed, "I hid a lot from you because I was ashamed. Please give me a chance to explain."
Jasmine shook her head and held tightly to Robert’s arm. "I remember you saying that you fell in love with another."
Rex shook his head sadly, hoping that the damage he caused was not too much to rectify.
"It wasn’t true. I was just ashamed when I found out who you were. Your parents are rich and you are surrounded by affluent people, just like your new boyfriend. It was exactly what I feared."
This revelation was new and totally unexpected, Jasmine was at a loss. "I don’t understand."
"I think we should sit," Robert said, equally interested in the turn of events. The four of them sat at the round table and everyone placed their order.
After the waiter left, Rex began to speak.
"I’m very sorry but I only moved to Manhattan to work. My family and I lived in Queens. Things were hard for us and the job was my breakthrough."
The waiter arrived with their order so he paused as they were served. The appetite for food was lost and only the drinks were patronized.
Rex was the only one who could not taste anything due to the pain in his heart and the fear of his loss.
"When I met you, I knew you were the one and every day and every moment we shared together, left sweet memories I can never forget."
Jasmine smiled a little, recalling all the times they shared together but when the realization of how he had just dumped her settled in again, her smile was gone.
"Jasmine, you were always very simple so I had no fears until I met your parents. I was so scared that if you met mine, you would leave me."
Jasmine was shaking her head. She knew in her heart that she wouldn’t have done something like that.
Even if Rex was jobless by then, she would have still stood by him.
"Also, my sister was sick with my mom and they needed me so when I took leave from work to go, I did the most stupid thing."
Regret swelled in Rex’s heart, it was almost the size of a watermelon. "I don’t have any other woman like I said. It’s just you and has always been you. I could never get my mind off you so I decided to try again," he finally stated his aim.
Jasmine was conflicted. She was pained because he said he loved another woman. Now that she realized there had never been any other woman between them, she felt comforted.
Rex forced a smile as he glanced at Robert. He felt that Jasmine made a good choice but that still did not heal the pain he was feeling for having lost her forever.
"It took me too long to come back and you already moved on. I only have myself to blame for everything."
Jasmine and Robert were exchanging glances as if communicating with their eyes. She wondered if she should tell Rex the truth but was afraid of giving him a second chance.
Chapter 485: Chapter 485 - I Just Don’t Want to Lose You Again
Feeling unneeded, Robert suddenly extended his hand to Rex, who was confused but shook his hand as Robert stared at him intently.
"It was nice meeting you and your sister, but I have to go now," Robert said.
Rex was happy that Robert was leaving but saddened at the thought of Jasmine leaving too. On the contrary, Jasmine did not stand up when Robert did.
Robert walked a distance before returning and giving his car key to Jasmine. "Here, you can use the car. I will find my way back to the office."
He didn’t want her to take a cab because she was a lady, but it was okay for him to do so. Jasmine was reluctant, as she didn’t want to inconvenience him.
Besides, she could use whatever transportation Rex used. With a turn of her head in Rex’s direction, she asked him,
"Rex, did you bring a car?"
Rex lowered his head. "I did, but it’s nothing..." he wanted to say it was nothing compared to what she would like, as she saw the car key that was dropped on the table. He could tell that the car Robert drove was worth millions of dollars.
"Never mind, Rex will drop me off," Jasmine said to Robert. She must have dated Rex for months, but it seemed that Rex still did not know her very well.
"What’s going on? Why is he leaving?" Rex asked with a confused expression. Robert knew that Rex hadn’t caught the hint of their non-vocal conversation.
To Robert, Rex was just a coward, but not the cheater he portrayed himself to be, and that was his reason for liking the guy.
Men had natural egos, and in Rex’s case, where his woman was richer than him, it was scary.
Robert was certain that even he might not be so bold to chase a woman who was, say, ten times wealthier than him.
People might think that he was in it for her money. He smiled, about to respond when Jasmine beat him to it.
"So that we could have a proper talk."
Rex was at a loss as he glanced at her sister, but she was even more naive than him in the situation.
"I don’t understand. You were reluctant before," Rex said to Jasmine. She smiled and explained,
"Robert is my first cousin. My aunt, Sabrina’s son."
It was as if the dark clouds around Rex parted for the sun to shine through. He facepalmed, and when he lowered his hands, his eyes were teary.
"I thought I lost you forever," he said, as his sister rubbed his back comfortingly.
She was also happy that her brother had not lost the only woman he loved because of the fear of her wealth.
Robert was happy with their union, but it seemed that among his cousins and siblings, only he and Mark faced relationship problems for different reasons.
Even the ice queen Jasmine finally saw the sun again. "I think that you guys need to sort things out. I have a few things to catch up on."
Robert was walking out of the restaurant when Jasmine picked up his car key. "You forgot your key." She was about to go after him when Robert turned around.
"Just throw it."
She did, and he caught it. Turning back to Rex, he was smiling, and Jasmine felt her heart soften. "You should have been honest with me."
Though in a good mood, Rex’s eyes were still teary. If Jasmine hadn’t moved on, he was ready to do anything to win her back, and when he thought that she did, it felt as if the pain in his heart would never be gone.
He didn’t expect it to be this easy, but maybe his pure heart was a testimony of his faithfulness, speaking for him.
"I’m very sorry."
Jasmine went into thoughtful mode. Everything was happening so fast and unexpectedly, but she wanted Rex to understand one thing.
"Wealth, power, affluence, they mean nothing to me. Anyone can be rich today, and anyone can be poor tomorrow. What matters is what the heart feels."
Rex’s heart did a funny dance, and he wished he could scream her name to the world. Holding her two hands in his, his gaze locked with hers.
"You are not like those rich, spoiled women, and you are the only woman I know who loves toys."
Speaking of toys, Jasmine knew he was talking about her hacking gadgets. Jasmine never used the ordinary everyday gadgets, and that was the reason why Rex termed it so.
"You didn’t give me time to let you in on what I do." Her voice was soft and sincere. Gone were the days when she felt stupid for loving Rex so much when he didn’t deserve it, but for now, everything seemed to be worth it.
"I want to know," Rex said seriously. It wasn’t easy accepting the kind of family Jasmine was born into, but he was now going to understand the girl inherited her father’s super gifts too.
"I manage my father’s security company, especially the hacking aspect. Sometimes, I help with my mom’s company too. She’s into clothing."
"Luxury brands," Rex mused. He wondered when he would be able to afford those. Even if he did, he would just want to spoil Jasmine with them.
"It’s just a name," Jasmine smiled and said, not wanting him to feel any less about himself.
"So, should I say that you are still mine? I brought my sister to witness everything."
Jasmine did not understand what he meant by he brought his sister to witness everything but was not ready to jump into a relationship so soon.
Even if she considered, then Rex would have to be more transparent about everyone and everything in his life.
"It’s been two years. How can I trust that you won’t leave me again?"
Pain laced Rex’s tone. "Those two years were the most painful times in my life. If it were easy for me, I wouldn’t have come back. You are the only woman I’ve ever loved."
"I need to think, Rex," Jasmine said honestly, but it was as if Rex had not heard as he went on to speak.
"I also wanted to tell you that within the two years, I was saving up for this ring." He shoved his hand into his suit jacket and brought out a diamond ring.
It wasn’t of a luxury brand but was quite expensive. "I know it’s nothing compared to what you are used to, but with time, I promise to get you a better one."
Rex went down on one knee, Jasmine froze from shock. "Please. I want you to be my wife. I can’t afford a luxurious wedding, so if you give me a chance, I can save up for it or we can have a simple wedding."
Tears fell from his eyes. "I just don’t want to lose you again."
Jasmine’s eyes were equally teary, but before she could respond, a shadow covered the entrance, as a man glared in their direction.
His face looked familiar, and he walked up to them. Without permission, he sat on the chair, his eyes burning with rage.
