Ch. 486..490: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 486-490

Chapter 486: Chapter 486 – You keep getting your nose into my business

"What do you want here, Clay?" Jasmine was upset that her magical moment had been ruined. Clay was one of the men pursuing her for her hand in marriage, but Jasmine’s heart had been so cold.

Clay was also very arrogant. His ways irritated Jasmine greatly. He was no different upon crashing their romantically harmonious moment.

"I hope you aren’t going to accept the proposal of this crappy beggar. You deserve better." Clay relaxed his back against the luxurious chair with his legs crossed.

This was the first time Rex had decided to spend money in a luxury restaurant because he had saved up quite a lot, but everything was ruined for him.

Clay’s words caused him a great deal of embarrassment, yet he could do nothing about it because Clay was Rex’s boss’s only son.

No one expected the words that came out of Jasmine’s mouth in retaliation to what Clay had said. "Fuck off."

"What did you say?" Clay’s face contorted into a frown, blended with shock. Rex was not aware that aside from Jasmine’s dozen cousins, he was the only one who enjoyed her respect.

Jasmine was naturally sharp-tongued, and her beauty could not hide it when met with the likes of Clay. She spelled out her words for him.

"F-u-c-k." Read my lips, "FUCK OFF and yes, I’m going to marry him," Jasmine glanced at Rex impatiently. "I’m waiting."

Clay was enraged, gulping painfully, his eyes turning red, as Rex slipped the ring onto Jasmine’s finger. He already knew that by proceeding with this move, he lost his job, but he would rather find another job than lose Jasmine again.

"I love you so much Jasmine, I promise not to let you down again."

Clay was upset, as the understanding settled that he let Jasmine down before and yet was given a second chance when he could not get even one chance to make her his.

"I know," Jasmine smiled and responded, as if Clay was non-existent, as Gretel began clapping heartily for them.

The few people at the restaurant looked on in amazement as Rex rose to his feet and pulled Jasmine up. Without a word, their lips joined together.

The intensity of the kiss scorched Clay’s heart, forcing him to look away, but how could he allow the kiss to continue?

He quickly found a way to distract them. "You chose a pauper over a prince? I wonder what your family will think of that," Clayton said in annoyance, as he glared at Rex.

He was already preparing his sack letter and wondered how Rex was going to meet Jasmine’s demand without a job.

He was at the party over the weekend too, but Jasmine had refused to dance with any guy, including him. She had the same words for anyone who approached her then, ’fuck off.’

"Well, the pauper is a prince at heart and the prince is a pauper at heart," Jasmine retorted with a nasty expression.

Clay wanted to leave the restaurant but was ashamed because of all the people who heard their conversation and saw his father’s employee win over him.

As such, he remained in his seat, with layers of bitterness covering his features. "You will regret it one day. People like him find rich girls like you, marry them, and divorce later to take fifty percent of everything they own."

Rex lost his resolve, afraid that Jasmine would change her mind. A lot of men indeed did that these days, but Rex could swear that he wasn’t such a person.

"I’m not that kind of person, Jasmine. If you want, I can sign a prenup," he quickly suggested. Jasmine folded her arms to her chest as she glowered at Clay.

"So, what if he takes fifty percent of my wealth? I will still be fifty percent rich."

Her response shut Clay down completely, as he figured that a woman who wasn’t afraid to lose money will never lose it.

Jasmine added, "Since you are here to eat, we lost our appetite so you can have this table and all the meals to yourself. It’s already paid for."

Rex stiffened when he heard that the meals had been paid for. The waiter hadn’t even brought the bill, and as the host, he didn’t remember paying.

He wanted to inform Jasmine that it wasn’t the case, but she already grabbed him by the arm, and he was surprised that the waiter had not approached their table.

What he didn’t know was the fact that Jasmine knew that Robert would not leave without paying the bill, as it was just in his nature to pay for whatever he took.

"You. What did I do to you?" Clay was almost in tears as he asked behind Jasmine. He had never faced any embarrassment in his life the way Jasmine caused it. She shrugged,

"You keep poking your nose into my business."

"That is because I love you," Clay said dramatically, all the arrogance disappearing from his voice like a mist. Jasmine did not pay him any attention.

"Guys, I know a very nice place for us to eat. Let’s go."

Clayton was fuming when they left him alone at the table. Even when he had publicly confessed his love for her, she walked over him, choosing the good-for-nothing guy.

"So where are we headed?" Rex asked when they reached his car. It was brand new but wasn’t a luxury car, so he was a little nervous when he opened the door to the front passenger seat for Jasmine.

Gretel sat in the back as Jasmine spoke. "You remember my cousin Mark?" Jasmine asked, and Rex remembered vividly that Mark owned the biggest luxury restaurant in Manhattan.

He had wanted to take Jasmine there but was afraid that Mark would embarrass him because of the past.

"You want us to go to his restaurant?"

"Yes," Jasmine smiled and buckled her seat belt. Rex forced a smile and started the ignition.

"Are you comfortable in the car?" He asked her.

Jasmine was a fan of sports cars, so he didn’t like Rex’s car. The only reason why she didn’t mind was that she was in love.

"With you, yes," she smiled and said, Rex’s heart warmed. His sister was equally amazed by Jasmine’s personality and couldn’t help saying,

"You are right Rex, your fiancé is amazing. I love her already."

Jasmine chuckled as they drove to Mark’s biggest restaurant. Reaching there, Jasmine went to Mark’s office with Rex and Gretel, surprised to see him with Aliya, right at the entrance.

Chapter 487: Chapter 487 – Welcome Back to the Family

Earlier that morning, Mark was checking the proposals sent by his marketing team concerning the opening of a new restaurant.

He was surprised when his door pushed open without a knock, with Aliya standing there meekly. A scowl lined Mark’s face, and he seemed irritated by her unwelcome entry.

"Who let you in? Where is the secretary?"

Mark was about to reach for the intercom when Aliya hastened and placed her hand on his. "She was not at her seat, so I took advantage and walked in."

"And why is that?" Mark withdrew his hand, causing a detachment between them. Aliya sat in front of him, disheartened by his action.

"I came to talk."

"About what?" Mark asked dismissively. Aliya wondered why the sudden change in him. Then again, why won’t he when she had plainly stated that she was going to pursue Robert?

"I’m sorry for how I reacted the last time," she apologized, but Mark seemed disinterested.

"What song are you singing, Aliya? I can’t get the rhythm correctly." The sarcasm in Mark’s tone as he ignored her was very painful, but she endured it because it was all her fault.

"Mark, I’ve been thinking a lot about what you said the last time."

"Have you finished pursuing your heart’s desire?" Mark asked irritably, his piercing gaze boring into hers. Aliya uncomfortably lowered her gaze.

"I didn’t." Mark let out a relieved sigh, but it was so soft it almost went unnoticed. If she had tried to win over Robert and failed at it before coming to him, he would have chased her out of his office instantly.

"Look. No one forces me to do things, and even if I was drunk, I believe that nothing would have happened between us without my permission."

"So?" Mark asked sarcastically. Aliya felt like there was no reasoning with him but could not relent.

"What I mean is, what happened between us meant that I felt something for you."

Mark was so moved that he almost smiled, but then again, "Maybe it was because of the alcohol and sex adrenaline."

Aliyah refused to accept it. "Then why couldn’t I seem to get you out of my mind?" She sounded desperate, but Mark did not intend to make it easy for her after how she got him upset.

"How will I know?" He pretended to focus his attention on the laptop, but he was paying attention to her every word. Aliya pleaded,

"I need a second chance. I want us to give it a shot like you suggested before."

Mark glared at her and responded in a flat tone, "I don’t know if that opportunity still exists."

"Please Mark, I’ve been hurting for days. Give me a chance." Aliya had unshed tears in the corner of her eyes. Mark wanted to give in but,

"I’m busy," he said, stood up, and walked to the door. Aliya lost hope. Perhaps, this door was completely shut because it was too late.

A bitter smile escaped her, but unexpectedly, before Mark opened the door, he turned around and asked, "Have you had lunch already?"

Aliya smiled. She thought he was going to send her away. Rising to her feet, she walked up to him.

"Does it mean you are giving me a chance?"

Mark smiled at her for the first time. "You’d better not disappoint me."

"I won’t," she replied sharply.

He opened the door, and in front of them were Jasmine, her ex, and a young woman he didn’t know.

"Jasmine, what are you doing with him? And since when did you get engaged?"

Mark was enraged but was also shocked. A few days ago at the party, Jasmine was single, but suddenly, she was engaged when she never introduced a man.

"Rex and I are back together."

"After he left you for another woman?" Mark was not taking it kindly and raged.

"I will explain it to you later, but what is she doing here? Wasn’t she with Robert at the party?" Jasmine asked. Mark realized how he, the pot, was calling the kettle black.

"I think you should all wait together in the private room. We need to talk."

Mark arranged for their meals after. Joining them, they chatted and ate together after they explained things to each other.

Mark was happy for Jasmine, just as Jasmine was happy for him. "So Rex, why don’t you join us here? The pay is much better, and for the position I’m offering, there will be so many incentives."

All the families loved to bring their partners into their businesses so Mark figured that so long as Rex was going to get married to Jasmine, he would automatically join any of the companies.

Rex was excited by the offer and was ready to aim for it when Jasmine retorted, "Why should he work for you when he’s getting married to me?"

"You didn’t mention it," Mark pointed out. Rex was shocked that Jasmine was equally considering giving him a job and began to wonder if she knew about his relationship with Clay.

"That’s because I have to talk to mom and dad about it, but I will be going to meet his mom too," Jasmine explained. Rex stiffened slightly when she mentioned visiting his mom, but after some thought, he decided to bring his mom over to his small apartment in Manhattan.

"Fine. In case things don’t go as planned, I will still hold the position for some time before advertising it," Mark stated, but Jasmine refused. She already had plans for her man and wasn’t going to let Mark win.

"You better advertise it now. He isn’t working for you. Or you can consider Aliyah."

Aliyah’s eyes lit up. She hadn’t thought about it before, but it seemed like a brilliant idea. "She’s right, but we can discuss that later."

Mark agreed. "Rex, welcome back to the family," Mark lifted his glass, and they clicked it together.

Two weeks later at the conference room, Giselle was feeling funny during a conference meeting. Whether it was the perfume scent of one of the female executives or what she ate earlier, she couldn’t tell, and neither could she hold it.

She rushed out of the meeting room, and without thinking, Robert had followed suit, leaving the executives flabbergasted.

Chapter 488: Chapter 488 – Dad, I’m Pregnant

"Giselle, what..." the washroom door was slammed in Robert’s face, it would have hit him if he took another step forward. He didn’t mind because he was too worried for her.

For the past two weeks, it had been very hard for him to make headway, as things had normalized between them. He hardly chatted with her on WeChat.

However, this sudden nausea resulting in Giselle throwing up caused Robert to panic.

"Giselle, what is wrong with you?" He yelled from the entrance of the door. Getting no response, he heard her puking some more, his worries increased as he stood helplessly in front of the door.

Getting no response only worsened his mood. "Giselle, do you want to go to the hospital?" There was still no response but only the sound of running water.

Robert was about to knock on the door again when it pushed open. Giselle’s cheeks were stained with a blush as she stared at him with embarrassment.

Feeling ashamed that Robert might think less of her if he finds out that she slept with an unknown man and had most probably gotten pregnant as a result, she forced a smile to calm herself.

"I’m fine sir. I’m sorry for running out of the meeting. We should head back."

Robert was so disturbed that without thinking, he pulled her into his arms. "What is wrong with you?"

Giselle froze. Of course, they had had friendly hugs before but not in the office. She quickly pulled away. "Nothing."

Robert could not insist anymore. The two went back to the meeting but Giselle sat as far away from the female executive with the strong perfume as much as possible.

As soon as the meeting ended and they returned to the office, Giselle received a message on WeChat.

’Hi Giselle, how are you today?’

Giselle’s eyes squinted and she massaged her temple. She had in mind to chat him after the meeting as well to inform him about the probability of getting pregnant after what happened that night.

The thought of the probability made her so vulnerable, she wouldn’t mind getting married to him to save her from the shame if she was indeed pregnant for him.

’How did you know my name?’ She asked, not recalling ever mentioning it.

’It’s on your profile,’ he responded instantly, Giselle’s frown deepened. She had thought that maybe, the strange man had done some research about her which would have meant that he cared about her but that didn’t seem to be the case.

’So am I supposed to call you passion fruit?’

’Maybe.’

Giselle didn’t know how to drop the hint and rather asked, ’Why don’t we meet sometime?’

At Robert’s office, his eyes widened and he felt nervous. However, recalling his father’s warning, he knew he couldn’t avoid meeting her as he had barely a little more than a week to reveal the truth to Giselle.

’Is there a problem? Did you get the emergency contraceptive the last time?’ He asked, feeling that dropping the hint would make it easier for her to spill whatever secret she was keeping from him. It worked.

’I did but I don’t feel too good today and I’m thinking of taking a pregnancy test. The pharmacist told me that the chances of the emergency contraceptive working was quite slim on the day I purchased it.’

Robert strangely felt an inexplicable joy in his heart. If she was pregnant, then no matter how upset she would be after finding out that he was the man she spent the night with, he could still force her into marrying him.

Even if she hated him in the beginning, he was certain that as he showers her with so much love, she will have no choice but to begin to return it.

’So, assuming you are pregnant, are you going to keep it?’ He was excited but sadly, she couldn’t discern it through his chats.

’I don’t know. I don’t even know who you are so I’m confused.’

Robert pursed his lips, wishing that he could just tell her but fear wouldn’t allow him. ’I will make time for us to meet around next week. I hope your boyfriend wouldn’t mind.’

He swallowed bitterly after typing those words on his phone but was quite relieved by her response.

’I don’t have a boyfriend.’

’You said that you had eyes on someone.’ He chatted back again. Feeling that the man knew nothing about her, she didn’t think it would be a big deal to let him know.

’Yeah, he’s my boss and family friend. He never sees me that way and I think my chances will be ruined if it turns out that I’m pregnant.’

Robert stopped breathing for a moment at the revelation and happy tears formed in the corner of his eyes.

Excitement brewed in his heart and he wished he could just reveal himself to her. Nevertheless, Robert would always use his brain than to just follow his heart.

Knowing this truth, he regretted keeping this secret from her. With shaky hands, he typed, ’Your boss must be very lucky for you to have eyes for him. I must say that I’m jealous.’

’I still want to meet you,’ Giselle quickly chatted back. Robert knew that there was no hiding it anymore. He would have to research a thousand ways to explain things to her to not get her upset.

’Yeah, next weekend.’

’I have to go. I feel like puking again.’

Robert’s eyes tightly shut at the revelation. Now he felt even more afraid. So all along, Giselle had eyes for him and he asked Aliya out right in front of her. It must have hurt Giselle so much.

That day, Giselle got home with a pregnancy test kit. Rushing to her room, she went to the washroom and peed on it, waiting nervously to see just one red line.

Giselle’s hopes crushed when she saw three red lines and quickly rushed downstairs to seek solace in the arms of her mother. She was in the kitchen but her father was there.

Being so depressed and anguished, she threw herself into her father’s arms, "Dad, I’m pregnant."

Chapter 489: Chapter 489 – Do you want to keep this child?

Her father froze, yet his arms around her tightened and he did not pull away, allowing her warm tears to soak his shirt.

The unexpected happened, but he couldn’t say it was bad. That was his first grandchild in his daughter’s womb since Gershon was also not married and had not even accidentally impregnated his woman.

"What’s going on here?" Aria asked as she went to place a jar of lemonade on the dining table. Giselle pulled away, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye.

Her mother was her confidante, and she knew that the woman would give her words of comfort, though she already decided on what to do.

"It’s over for me, mom. I’m pregnant. I want to leave this city. I want to go where Robert will never see me. He will lose respect for me if he finds out that I slept with a strange man. Also, he will get married to someone someday."

Giselle’s eyes glazed with tears with each word she spoke as she imagined Robert looking at her with disdain upon finding out that she was carrying a child because of her carelessness of drinking too much.

He would never know that she got drunk because of him. "Do you want to keep this child?"

Her mother’s voice jolted her out of her thoughts, and she fixed her attention on the middle-aged woman. Giselle’s eyes were red.

"Mom, how could you ask such a question? This child is innocent in all this. I just want to go far and raise him or her."

Aria didn’t want to be away from her daughter. If Giselle wanted to leave, then the whole family would have to relocate.

"When did you take this decision?" She asked worriedly. Giselle leaned against her father’s chest.

"The moment I found out that I was pregnant."

Right now, she wished that her mother would be like her father and not keep asking her so many questions.

Her father was quiet and a good listener. His fingers caressed her long brunette hair lovingly as her mother asked again,

"What if we find this man?"

Aria’s lips pursed together. She hadn’t told her parents about passion fruit, feeling the need to do so now.

"I already got in touch with him through WeChat, and we agreed to meet, but I don’t want to see him anymore. What if I hate his presence and I’m forced to be with him because of the pregnancy?" She stated her fears.

It made sense to Aria because her daughter could not just be with a man because she was pregnant for him.

Masked with worry, she didn’t know what to do about the situation, but Giselle was very special to the Jewels.

Aria could not let her leave without informing Sabrina first. "Let me talk to Sabrina about it. You know how much she cares for you."

Giselle refused, saying, "If she knows, then Robert will know. Please don’t tell her."

Aria went to sit beside her and rubbed her back. "Sabrina isn’t like that. If I tell her not to tell Robert, she won’t."

***

At the villa, Robin had another surprise planned. Throughout their decades of marriage, he had ensured to keep the smile on Sabrina’s face.

Every day was filled with something new as he always had one surprise or the other for her.

As Sabrina saw him shoving his and her clothes into a medium-sized traveling bag, she couldn’t help asking,

"Where are we going this time?"

Robin paused and smiled at her, "Retirement means we get to travel around the world."

Sabrina felt it was too much. Ever since their marriage, Robin always took her on surprise vacations, but it only increased when he went on early retirement to allow Robert to take over all the companies.

"We’ve already been to so many beautiful places," she acknowledged, a smile brightening her beautiful features. Even at her age, she was still such a beauty, and Robin felt like his wife refused to age at all.

His love for her only increased by the passing of each given day. "There are still more beautiful places to tour, and I have it all planned," he assured her.

Sabrina’s lips thinned, lined with a beautiful smile. "Robin, you are so full of surprises."

Robin smirked and kissed her eyes, making her feel those things he made her feel when she was younger.

She thought she was too old, but Robin made her feel like a teenager. "Well, when you gave me a second chance, I intended to not make you regret it."

"I haven’t," she responded, and just as their lips were about to meet, they got distracted by the sound of a knock on the door as Robin responded, "come in."

The servants walked in with tons of rare fresh flowers, and Sabrina had a smile on her face, already knowing who had sent them.

Those twins she bore as a surrogate for Matilda and Devin never ceased to put a smile on her face.

Her smile got Robin nervous. "Don’t tell me we can’t go on this vacation because of these flowers."

He already knew by the look of the flowers and how rare they were that Sabrina would not want to leave without them.

On the other hand, Sabrina also did not want to disappoint him after he had put in so much effort to plan the vacation.

"Oh my king, I believe that Robert and Sabrina must have sent them. Let me just call and thank them."

Another servant entered, but so did four familiar figures. "Aunt Sabrina, Uncle Robin, how are you?" Sabrina asked, hugging the older Robin and Sabrina.

After finding out at the age of eight that Sabrina was their surrogate mother, they always sent her a dozen rare and expensive flowers at least once or twice a year since they turned eighteen.

This was the first time they showed up with the flowers and were also with their spouses. The older Sabrina noticed something interesting about the younger one and perused,

"Sabrina, you are glowing. Are you pregnant?"

Chapter 490: Chapter 490 - Thank You for Doing That for Her

The younger Sabrina smiled shyly and said, "Aunt Sabrina, you are too observant."

The older Sabrina and Robin were excited as the young Robin teased his sister. "So that is what you and Curt have been hiding." Curt was the name of the young Sabrina’s husband.

The young Robin was amused to see his twin sister’s cheeks turn pink. Turning to the older Robin, he took something from one of the servants.

"Uncle Robin, we brought you a puppy. It’s a rare species."

Robin was surprised as he took the white puppy that almost looked like a cat. "A rare species indeed," he mused before adding,

"You two should stop buying gifts. We don’t have room for them."

Young Sabrina had no intention to stop. "Then you should expand the villa because more gifts are on the way. I have to run. I love you, mom, I love you dad," Sabrina kissed them on their cheeks and her husband hugged them before they hastened out.

Sabrina has not only been their surrogate mother but also their second mother, and they confided in her, relating to so many things.

"Are you leaving too?" Sabrina asked the young Robert and his wife, as the older Robert gave the puppy to one of the servants.

"Yes. We just wanted to say hi," the young Robin said with a smile.

"Thank you very much and take good care of yourself, Cindy," Sabrina hugged the young Robin’s wife and spoke.

"I will," young Robin responded before they left. The older Robin was looking at the new flowers the twins brought.

"Should we add the Juliet rose to your collection at the Queen’s garden? I can see that you love them."

The queen’s garden was the name Robin gave to the new garden he created for Sabrina after burning the bodies of their enemies. It was opened to the public during summer for many events.

As Sabrina was about to respond, her phone rang and she checked the caller ID. "It’s Aria."

It was strange how she felt a little nervous because of the caller ID. Of late, Aria was always giving her a scare.

"Answer it and activate the speaker button," Robin encouraged her, Sabrina obeyed.

"Aria."

"Sabrina, the worst happened," Aria said nervously. It was just as Sabrina had imagined, but before she asked why, Aria was already narrating everything.

"Giselle is pregnant and she wants to leave New York City. She doesn’t want Robert to know."

Sabrina glanced at Robin, who was trying hard to hide his excitement. Aside from Pete, he was the only one who knew that the child Aria was carrying in her womb was their grandchild.

"Pregnancy is not a bad thing. Why would she leave because of that? Can I talk to her?" Sabrina asked seriously.

After Giselle’s bravery in her younger years, Sabrina has always considered her as her own. A sorrowful voice sounded on the line; Sabrina’s heart felt heavy.

"Aunt Sabrina."

"Giselle, why would you want to travel far with my grandchild?" Sabrina asked, Robin stiffened beside her, wondering if she knew, but then again, he felt that Sabrina only spoke that way because of her close relationship with Aria.

As expected, Giselle did not hold back and spoke with a sad countenance. "Aunt Sabrina, I feel ashamed. Everyone is married. I’m the only one going to give birth out of wedlock."

Having understood the reason for Aria’s decision, Sabrina was speechless, feeling that she needed to think.

Robin whispered something in her ear, and she spoke up. "Can you give it a little time for us to find this man? We shall use all our power to make him do the right thing."

At the end of the line, Aria sighed sorrowfully. "What if I don’t like him? He might just complicate my life. I’m in touch with him and he doesn’t even want to give me his name. I want to keep this from him and just disappear."

For the first time, Sabrina felt like she couldn’t convince her, but Robin whispered something in her ear again, and she said on the phone,

"Robin wants to talk to you."

"Okay."

"Giselle, the phone is on speaker so I heard everything. Why not give it two weeks? The pregnancy will not show by then, but we are family and your problem is equally ours," Robin said softly.

He was buying time for Robert to do the right thing as Giselle’s leaving might just complicate matters.

Giselle did not want to waste time, feeling torn. "What will happen in two weeks, Uncle Robin? Robert is already suspicious, and the way he cares for me, he will just be so disappointed. I can’t keep lying to him too."

Robin felt terrible that Aria thought about the Culprit this way. He wished he could inject some boldness into Robert’s blood.

"Forget that jerk, but trust me on this. I will try to get the man’s identity for you. If you don’t like him, then you can relocate, but if you do, then trust me, I will make him marry you. Now how does that sound?" He asked.

Giselle liked the plan and wanted to go with it, but, "Uncle Robin, how can you find this man? Jasmine tried, but there was nothing. Same with mom and dad."

Mentioning Jasmine, Robin suddenly felt like he caught Robert’s accomplice. Who else could Robert trust to erase those videos if not Jasmine?

Robin should have thought about it earlier. "Trust me, I have other sources. Just give me up to two weeks, will you?"

Robin and Sabrina were equally like a second parent to her, so how could she refuse? Besides, Robin was right. The pregnancy will not show by then. "Two weeks it is."

"Thank you, and please don’t worry about anything. I’m sending you some flowers to cheer you up, but trust me, this is equally our problem, and we shall get to the bottom of it," Robin said assuringly, Giselle’s heart warmed.

"Okay. Thank you."

After the call ended, Robin picked up his phone, ordering a dozen bouquets of flowers to be delivered to Giselle. Sabrina was impressed.

"Thanks for doing that for her."

"The pleasure is mine, but I will tell you something if you promise to keep it a secret for two weeks," Robin said. Sabrina was curious.
